- 0:00Speaker 1: Look, they said that I couldn't do it, So I
- 0:02Speaker 1: went into did it? W zona you nobbing?
- 0:07Speaker 2: Winning?
- 0:08Speaker 1: Top of the World is globeusy spinny spinning if you know,
- 0:11Speaker 1: you know, I've been on a mission.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Mission.
- 0:14Speaker 1: So okay, let's get it. Got a little time on
- 0:16Speaker 1: my hands with a wristwatch. I don't got time for
- 0:18Speaker 1: the breaks and the pitstop breaks through the dad.
- 0:20Speaker 4: All right, what's going on? Everybody? I am the one,
- 0:23Speaker 4: the only the w oh okay, I e I have
- 0:25Speaker 4: a new cast of misfits here, five of them. One
- 0:29Speaker 4: you might recognize weird weirdly enough. But first off, I
- 0:34Speaker 4: want to kind of go over this. Obviously, this is
- 0:36Speaker 4: going on the Archives Corner channel. This is going to
- 0:38Speaker 4: be Altered Corner for the foreseeable future. He forg is
- 0:44Speaker 4: not going away as the Archives Corner focus. But I
- 0:47Speaker 4: feel like every Tuesday, maybe we bring an old friend
- 0:50Speaker 4: back in and we do what he is doing now.
- 0:54Speaker 4: So Z, what are you doing now?
- 0:58Speaker 5: Well, hey, guys, I am now plane Altered. It is
- 1:01Speaker 5: a brand new card game. Today is going to be
- 1:04Speaker 5: our first podcast with our new misfits. We might have
- 1:09Speaker 5: actually have another one join us next weekcause some of
- 1:12Speaker 5: the keyboards. Folks will recognize he's his young gun, and
- 1:15Speaker 5: we'll talk about that here in a second. But yeah,
- 1:19Speaker 5: I am full on board into Altered. I had initially
- 1:22Speaker 5: got into it as an investment, but uh, I just
- 1:26Speaker 5: love the game. The gameplay is actually really much more
- 1:28Speaker 5: engaging than I had planned on it or thought I
- 1:30Speaker 5: would initially would be. So yeah, we'll be talking about
- 1:34Speaker 5: some of that as we go along. But yeah, we've
- 1:37Speaker 5: got some other folks here with me.
- 1:40Speaker 4: We'll want to we'll go through our brand new set
- 1:43Speaker 4: of misfits. One you might recognize the noble one mister Zach. Hey,
- 1:50Speaker 4: we have Ogre. Hey, he has a going and we
- 1:54Speaker 4: have coal.
- 1:56Speaker 6: Hello everybody.
- 1:58Speaker 4: So we will have a new hopefully a new misfit
- 2:01Speaker 4: next week. We always like joining misfits to the Misfit
- 2:03Speaker 4: Army and Z kind of go over how you want
- 2:07Speaker 4: to run this on a week to week basis.
- 2:10Speaker 5: Yeah, so on our weekly structure, of course, we're gonna
- 2:13Speaker 5: have some other stuff come up, especially there was like
- 2:15Speaker 5: an Ama recently that was launched today, so we will
- 2:19Speaker 5: talk about that next week in addition to our weekly cadence.
- 2:24Speaker 5: But each week we're gonna have a unique of the week.
- 2:26Speaker 5: One of the big things about the Altered Card Game
- 2:28Speaker 5: is it doesn't have unique decks that a lot of
- 2:30Speaker 5: audience is familiar with right here, but it has unique cards.
- 2:34Speaker 5: So there are cards that are printed one and every
- 2:37Speaker 5: eight packs or so that no one else will ever
- 2:39Speaker 5: own that card. So obviously there could be spikes, but
- 2:44Speaker 5: there can be spikes up and down. So each week
- 2:47Speaker 5: we're gonna feature a special card that caught our eye
- 2:51Speaker 5: for whatever reason, and Ogre is going to kind of
- 2:55Speaker 5: take on leading that segment. He won't always be the
- 2:57Speaker 5: one that found the card, but I think he ever
- 3:00Speaker 5: will enjoy his reactions to the cards. Because we all
- 3:02Speaker 5: have in the in the local server about our keyboard service,
- 3:06Speaker 5: I mean our Altered server here, and then with them
- 3:13Speaker 5: how many podcasts casts we do, like.
- 3:15Speaker 4: What only five years worth? Not a big deal?
- 3:18Speaker 5: Yeah, a lot? And then there will be a deck
- 3:21Speaker 5: construction segment. We're all going to pipe in on that
- 3:24Speaker 5: because we're gonna have different things that we are kind
- 3:27Speaker 5: of attuned to or searching for. I will be the
- 3:30Speaker 5: leading that segment. The segment that is we'll all kind
- 3:36Speaker 5: of talk about competitive talk. There's a y I suck
- 3:40Speaker 5: it Altered segment that will be led by our misfit
- 3:43Speaker 5: that will be joining us next week, and then we'll
- 3:45Speaker 5: always covered events for recent and upcoming. Cole is our
- 3:49Speaker 5: local event runner for the Altered Texas discord that we
- 3:53Speaker 5: have over here, so he'll be talking about those, but
- 3:55Speaker 5: not just the ones on our server, the ones that
- 3:57Speaker 5: are happened in real life and around the around the world,
- 4:00Speaker 5: as well as far as like the actual physical play too.
- 4:04Speaker 5: I think I left went off of our list. We're
- 4:05Speaker 5: also going to have a meta liner that's going to
- 4:08Speaker 5: be the person that's talking about like the prime meta deck,
- 4:12Speaker 5: and Zak is my new front runner for Altered. He
- 4:16Speaker 5: has been crushing it, so he will have his own
- 4:18Speaker 5: little segment about playing the top meta deck and like
- 4:23Speaker 5: things that he's learned, the lines he's played in kind
- 4:25Speaker 5: of matchups to look out for as the I mean,
- 4:29Speaker 5: it's a constructive game, so there's always going to be
- 4:31Speaker 5: a meta deck. So Zak might be shifting from time
- 4:34Speaker 5: to time to whatever that deck is, but he will
- 4:37Speaker 5: be our this is what the meta is, and this
- 4:40Speaker 5: is what you're going to have to come at. You're
- 4:41Speaker 5: going to try to beat it. As he's crushing souls
- 4:46Speaker 5: out there, and that's generally going to be our weekly structure,
- 4:50Speaker 5: with extra tidbits added in based on what's going on
- 4:54Speaker 5: in the world of altered as. It's brand new. It's
- 4:56Speaker 5: only been around a month.
- 5:00Speaker 4: All right, And what that being said is it time
- 5:02Speaker 4: to go to oger with the unique of the week.
- 5:06Speaker 4: That flow is real nice. By the way Unique of
- 5:08Speaker 4: the Week I do. It was soothing to my ears.
- 5:12Speaker 4: It feels nice.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Okay, So well, we're going to be kind of obviously
- 5:17Speaker 2: this is our first time, so we've got a lot
- 5:19Speaker 2: to learn in terms of like what we'll be looking
- 5:21Speaker 2: at in the future. But I do want to set
- 5:23Speaker 2: a few standards in terms of how I react to these.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I'll do my best.
- 5:30Speaker 7: Just go for it.
- 5:31Speaker 5: How do you react to this? First read the card?
- 5:34Speaker 2: Okay, so today we're looking at Cat's a quaddle out
- 5:39Speaker 2: of Ortis, And anybody that's played into Ortis recently knows
- 5:43Speaker 2: Kats is pretty good just on its own. This guy
- 5:48Speaker 2: is going to cost you five from hand six from reserves,
- 5:51Speaker 2: a little bit more expensive than regular three two two
- 5:54Speaker 2: stats not great, but he's a bureaucrat. You're not expecting
- 5:57Speaker 2: big numbers here. Where it gets really and truly ridiculous
- 6:02Speaker 2: is the ability text when an opponent draws one or
- 6:06Speaker 2: more cards or does resupply create two Ortis recruits in
- 6:09Speaker 2: my expedition, Okay, this is two. I did, in fact
- 6:14Speaker 2: say two. Now that effect in and of itself. Listen,
- 6:17Speaker 2: we've seen these uniques before. They're out there. You know
- 6:20Speaker 2: you're gonna get hit with soldiers. It is what it is,
- 6:23Speaker 2: right like, you're to deal with that.
- 6:25Speaker 5: But that's double value already, right, that's twice as good
- 6:28Speaker 5: as every other quests in the game.
- 6:30Speaker 2: It's it's pretty good. It's pretty good. Now play around
- 6:34Speaker 2: it like you can. You can try to limit how
- 6:37Speaker 2: many times you're gonna draw or resupply outside of you know,
- 6:40Speaker 2: the normal start of turn things.
- 6:42Speaker 5: Yes, you can hamper yourself.
- 6:43Speaker 7: Yeh yeh yeah, you just you just crippled yourself just
- 6:47Speaker 7: by playing. Try to play around this card.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Sometimes sometimes that's what you got to do, right with
- 6:51Speaker 2: these ridiculous blue uniques.
- 6:53Speaker 7: But then.
- 6:55Speaker 2: At lace there's more draw three cards. Let everybody take
- 7:02Speaker 2: just a moment, just a moment, take this in three cards. Now,
- 7:06Speaker 2: at the start of every turn, you get to draw
- 7:08Speaker 2: two cards, and then you may add one of those
- 7:10Speaker 2: cards into your manna so that you can actually play
- 7:13Speaker 2: the game right, So at most you're probably by default
- 7:17Speaker 2: gaining one additional card to spend during your turn. You've
- 7:20Speaker 2: got your stuff in reserve, you've got whatever this card says.
- 7:24Speaker 2: At dusk, which is at the end of your turn,
- 7:27Speaker 2: draw three cards. Why is that important? Well, it's three
- 7:31Speaker 2: cards first of all, in a faction that would just
- 7:34Speaker 2: love to beat you up with various options and bureaucrats
- 7:37Speaker 2: that they can throw at you, it gives you those
- 7:40Speaker 2: cards right at the end of your turn going into
- 7:43Speaker 2: your next one. So you have additional choices in terms
- 7:46Speaker 2: of when you draw those two cards, what am I
- 7:48Speaker 2: going to put into mana, Like, what am I prioritizing
- 7:51Speaker 2: turn to turn at dusk? Typically, like you're going to
- 7:55Speaker 2: see some other like sabotage effects that are occurring then,
- 7:58Speaker 2: So you're getting the this reactionary time period to sort
- 8:03Speaker 2: of like set yourself up for the next turn. Is
- 8:06Speaker 2: it as good as like at noon draw three cards?
- 8:09Speaker 2: Probably not, but well I think it's better you think.
- 8:14Speaker 2: I don't know if I'm on that.
- 8:16Speaker 5: Let's break the down the dust part of this, because
- 8:18Speaker 5: if this is a bureaucrat and this was fire and
- 8:20Speaker 5: at noon. That means it's gonna happen once one time
- 8:24Speaker 5: per time you play it. Now, they the bureaucrats worked
- 8:27Speaker 5: the most of us experienced playing a war that has
- 8:29Speaker 5: played well Altered for anyone that hasn't played Alter yet,
- 8:31Speaker 5: like it's a hero that allows their people go to sleep,
- 8:35Speaker 5: which means that it is going to be on the
- 8:36Speaker 5: board for two dusks. So this one play of five Mana,
- 8:41Speaker 5: which is mid game, allows you to draw six cards.
- 8:46Speaker 5: And like, the main thing I wanted to say here
- 8:49Speaker 5: is if you're newer to Altered or even if you've
- 8:51Speaker 5: been playing Alter for since the release back in September
- 8:54Speaker 5: or early September, like car draw in this game is
- 8:57Speaker 5: more valuable than any other TCG I've actually played because
- 9:02Speaker 5: of the way the Mana thing works, and you just
- 9:06Speaker 5: often like you just run out of cards quite often
- 9:10Speaker 5: in certain factions. It is definitely more than double as
- 9:15Speaker 5: value of a card draw in KeyForge. I didn't play
- 9:20Speaker 5: Pokemon that long, but it is so I'm not I
- 9:24Speaker 5: don't even remember how many cards you.
- 9:26Speaker 4: So many cards that allow you, yeah, clip through your stuff.
- 9:30Speaker 5: Yeah, they could search for stuff too, Like I feel
- 9:32Speaker 5: like the card Dorall here is probably fifty to seventy
- 9:35Speaker 5: five percent more important than magic. I did play that
- 9:38Speaker 5: a bit carddrall was important there, but like overall, drawing
- 9:42Speaker 5: three cards is fastly more valuable than basically anything I've
- 9:47Speaker 5: seen in this game, like there as there are ways
- 9:49Speaker 5: that actually increase your manipool that I think are way
- 9:54Speaker 5: worse than this three cards, Like I will take three
- 9:56Speaker 5: cards over a mana any day. Any game can.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Put this in a very simple perspective, honestly, because as
- 10:03Speaker 2: as we discuss it, he's convincing me to hate it
- 10:05Speaker 2: more than I did before. So in Cards in Purple
- 10:11Speaker 2: we have a we have a very simple card called
- 10:12Speaker 2: Magical Training.
- 10:13Speaker 5: Yep.
- 10:14Speaker 2: It's gonna let you spend one manna to draw a card,
- 10:16Speaker 2: and then it's going to go to your reserve where
- 10:18Speaker 2: you can spend two man or is it three three
- 10:20Speaker 2: for the common three, So a total cost of four
- 10:25Speaker 2: mana spent will get you two cards drawn, right, And.
- 10:28Speaker 5: That's generally the ratio across the game. If you look
- 10:31Speaker 5: at any card in the game that has a draw effect,
- 10:33Speaker 5: it normally has like crappy stats costs to you more
- 10:37Speaker 5: for a draw of one.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Yeah, you get like you get some outliers, right, Like
- 10:41Speaker 2: you've got your baba's and you've got some other things
- 10:43Speaker 2: that are going to get get it for you to discount.
- 10:45Speaker 2: But that's the thing that they're good at. This one
- 10:48Speaker 2: is going to give you three cards, which is again
- 10:52Speaker 2: we priced two cards drawn at four mana right, Yeah,
- 10:57Speaker 2: so let's just take that four out of his cost, right,
- 11:00Speaker 2: and you're only paying that cost once and then you're
- 11:02Speaker 2: sleeping him and getting him two turns. Right, So so
- 11:05Speaker 2: let's assume you pay that that five. You've effectively spent
- 11:10Speaker 2: one for three to two stats, which is still way above right.
- 11:13Speaker 2: It's great, and none of that is taken into consideration.
- 11:17Speaker 2: The other passive ability that's sitting on that is.
- 11:20Speaker 5: Better than the original.
- 11:21Speaker 2: So all in all, yeah, ogre stamp of busted right there,
- 11:26Speaker 2: this is our inaugural totally boc is unique that somebody
- 11:33Speaker 2: managed to find and put in a deck. Good for
- 11:34Speaker 2: that person whoever owns this. I'm not sure which player
- 11:37Speaker 2: this Blunk Pluka Pluka great Heart.
- 11:40Speaker 5: We'll talk about later. Yeah, he would not sell it.
- 11:43Speaker 4: It's going to be some twelve year old that's going
- 11:45Speaker 4: to put it in like a Nike shoe box, right, no, because.
- 11:49Speaker 2: That one's absolutely out there haunting people. This is a
- 11:52Speaker 2: live grenade.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Is it is very live?
- 11:56Speaker 4: That is the what do we call it? That's like
- 11:58Speaker 4: the mantra and keyboard, like the most busted decks or
- 12:01Speaker 4: in like somebody's shoebox that like is not when they're
- 12:04Speaker 4: attic and they just have them all. But this one's
- 12:08Speaker 4: wrecking wrecking tournament stats, huh.
- 12:11Speaker 5: For sure, for sure, Wilch. We'll talk about soon. But yeah,
- 12:14Speaker 5: if you actually use the math we just applied to this,
- 12:17Speaker 5: Like so based on his reduction in power and its
- 12:20Speaker 5: increased ability, that should have been a four or five
- 12:23Speaker 5: cost at three two two with the extra token. Then
- 12:26Speaker 5: if you a factor in the three cards, not ignoring
- 12:28Speaker 5: bureaucrat just once, he should have actually costed ten eleven,
- 12:35Speaker 5: Like mathematically, it should have costed you ten manua and
- 12:39Speaker 5: then eleven mana to match the cost of the factions
- 12:43Speaker 5: that actually draw.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Well, yeah, and let's let's be honest, like obviously we're
- 12:47Speaker 2: discounting a few like there's a there's a bunch of factors, right,
- 12:50Speaker 2: like many things matter in this game, is in all games.
- 12:54Speaker 2: And while we are somewhat presenting like a magical Christmas land.
- 12:58Speaker 2: Take on the value you're to get from this card,
- 13:01Speaker 2: because the reality is like some you could pay five
- 13:03Speaker 2: and then somebody's gonna spend three and remove it. Like
- 13:05Speaker 2: that's gonna happen regularly enough. But when it doesn't, this
- 13:09Speaker 2: thing is gonna overperform to a degree that is just absurd.
- 13:14Speaker 2: If you look at some of the other uniques that
- 13:17Speaker 2: are out there and are like the ones that you're
- 13:18Speaker 2: frequently going to see in the pool, like this is.
- 13:21Speaker 2: This is one of those like golden Geese that's gonna
- 13:24Speaker 2: make Pluka lots and lots of tournament points.
- 13:27Speaker 5: Two days before that tournament I lost to him. He
- 13:30Speaker 5: played this on he played meadow turn one, and on
- 13:34Speaker 5: turn two he played it. I immediately went to concede,
- 13:38Speaker 5: and it wouldn't let me. It gave me the warning,
- 13:40Speaker 5: it's too early to concede this game.
- 13:44Speaker 2: But and that's it. I think that's that's sort of
- 13:47Speaker 2: what we'll do right well.
- 13:50Speaker 4: For people who are like listening beyond right, because like you,
- 13:55Speaker 4: we are going to get some key forgers in here.
- 13:58Speaker 4: So the heroes, so at the beginning of every game,
- 14:02Speaker 4: you have a hero and a companion, right, and your
- 14:04Speaker 4: and your ultimate goal is to get them to meet
- 14:07Speaker 4: on a board.
- 14:08Speaker 7: Right.
- 14:08Speaker 4: You can do some more research beyond that. But the
- 14:14Speaker 4: big thing in all of this, and I kind of
- 14:17Speaker 4: lost where I was going with this, that's kind of
- 14:21Speaker 4: your big thing, right, You're trying to get your characters,
- 14:25Speaker 4: your your hero and you're you're reuniting them, right, I
- 14:29Speaker 4: guess is the way.
- 14:30Speaker 5: That you're exploring a new territory. You're meeting at the
- 14:33Speaker 5: middle to compare notes or something.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yeah, there's there's some really deep lure, like.
- 14:37Speaker 4: I'm looking at and this is more lower than I've
- 14:42Speaker 4: gotten in a while.
- 14:43Speaker 5: There's a lot, there's a lot.
- 14:45Speaker 4: The world buildings seems.
- 14:47Speaker 5: There's like one hundred something characters and every character has
- 14:51Speaker 5: their own story or something.
- 14:52Speaker 2: It is is a lot.
- 14:53Speaker 4: So on top of that, there are there is going
- 14:57Speaker 4: to be So there's like kind of your standard card, right,
- 15:00Speaker 4: everybody can get these, you know, they're they're just kind
- 15:04Speaker 4: of your your standard cards. And then there's unique. So
- 15:07Speaker 4: what we're spot talking about here is the unique being
- 15:10Speaker 4: there is one of one in the world for this card.
- 15:12Speaker 5: Correct, yep, yes, this card will never be printed, Okay.
- 15:16Speaker 4: And then on top of that, I haven't done a
- 15:19Speaker 4: ton of research. My my altered research is a little waning.
- 15:23Speaker 4: At the current time, I personally am getting ready for
- 15:26Speaker 4: a key Forge world, so I haven't gotten a ton
- 15:28Speaker 4: of time to go out there and do much. But
- 15:32Speaker 4: heroes will if from what I understood or from the
- 15:35Speaker 4: brief notes I've been reading, certain heroes will no longer
- 15:40Speaker 4: see play, am I correct, Like they're gonna get points
- 15:44Speaker 4: and then they'll be retired. Similar to question blood, oh.
- 15:49Speaker 2: I don't.
- 15:49Speaker 5: I don't think we.
- 15:50Speaker 2: I don't think we have any like firm idea of
- 15:54Speaker 2: how they're going to approach. I guess we would call
- 15:58Speaker 2: it a rotation, like I haven't seen them discussing the
- 16:02Speaker 2: thing that I have not either in terms of like
- 16:04Speaker 2: I mean a month, so you.
- 16:07Speaker 5: Know, well, they don't even plan on starting OPE until
- 16:10Speaker 5: like a real official LOPE until what will call was
- 16:13Speaker 5: it January next year?
- 16:17Speaker 6: So for competitive they've just always kind of said twenty
- 16:22Speaker 6: twenty five. I don't think there's a hard target yet.
- 16:26Speaker 6: And for retiring heroes, I would say, just based on
- 16:29Speaker 6: the news that no new heroes will come out until
- 16:32Speaker 6: set four, I don't think they'll retire heroes. I don't
- 16:37Speaker 6: even think, honestly, any heroes will be changed at all.
- 16:41Speaker 6: There may be certain cards.
- 16:42Speaker 2: But yeah, we'll see. It's it's I think the it's
- 16:46Speaker 2: it's very new in the game's lifespan, right like we're
- 16:49Speaker 2: we're just now sort of starting to sink our teeth
- 16:54Speaker 2: into the first eighteen Yeah, and I.
- 16:59Speaker 4: Think there's three per faction, if one three per faction exactly.
- 17:04Speaker 2: And they're doing a lot of learning right along with us,
- 17:06Speaker 2: right like, this is this is their first card game.
- 17:09Speaker 2: They've got some some industry bets on their design team
- 17:12Speaker 2: and on their marketing team, and they've they've definitely got
- 17:14Speaker 2: some like resources they're tapping that other first time card
- 17:19Speaker 2: game creators didn't have access to. But I think that
- 17:23Speaker 2: they're going to have to see how we all respond
- 17:25Speaker 2: to the game that they're giving us, because it's it's
- 17:27Speaker 2: a little bit different than you know, a lot of
- 17:30Speaker 2: what people have played before they start making decisions and
- 17:33Speaker 2: committing it.
- 17:33Speaker 4: And again, it's a very strange card game, right like,
- 17:36Speaker 4: this is a very strange. By strange, I mean, it's
- 17:39Speaker 4: not your it's not typical, right like, this is again
- 17:42Speaker 4: much like Keyfarge, I hate that that's where my background
- 17:44Speaker 4: is right. Now, it's a race, right, it's not necessarily
- 17:49Speaker 4: you're not attacking your opponent. This is about moving pieces
- 17:53Speaker 4: as opposed to dealing life point damage.
- 17:55Speaker 5: I guess.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:57Speaker 4: So I'm looking at some of the cards because I
- 18:00Speaker 4: bought at gen Con, which I was at this year,
- 18:03Speaker 4: I bought the uh the girl who flips coins or
- 18:06Speaker 4: rolls dice Nevenka.
- 18:09Speaker 5: Sure, yep.
- 18:10Speaker 4: She hasn't even opened out of her plastic yet. Because
- 18:13Speaker 4: my group hates new things because we're all old men
- 18:17Speaker 4: and change bad. So you know, it is what it is.
- 18:21Speaker 4: But what one day I'll get out into the open
- 18:23Speaker 4: and play this stuff. I just I remember playing with Domino,
- 18:26Speaker 4: who is another key Forge friend who opened me up
- 18:30Speaker 4: to it, and I'm like this, I don't know if
- 18:32Speaker 4: she's actually good or not, but like I get the
- 18:34Speaker 4: feelings she's going to ruin somebody's day at like a
- 18:37Speaker 4: large tournament one day, like because like.
- 18:40Speaker 6: Probably the person playing her, she's gonna ruin the owner's
- 18:45Speaker 6: day is as possible.
- 18:46Speaker 4: But like, you know, you're gonna have that guy who
- 18:49Speaker 4: like has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on this deck, right,
- 18:54Speaker 4: and he's on and he's and he's going and like
- 18:58Speaker 4: all the roles just come out and it's just it's
- 19:02Speaker 4: gonna be a bad day. I don't know. That's probably
- 19:04Speaker 4: that you guys can tell me if I'm wrong on
- 19:06Speaker 4: that one.
- 19:07Speaker 5: I will never play that hero. I actually am really
- 19:09Speaker 5: bad at their names, like the hero names. I know
- 19:11Speaker 5: actually a lot of the cards. I know most cards
- 19:14Speaker 5: in the game, but the hero names I suck at,
- 19:16Speaker 5: so I I know them by their ability. I call
- 19:19Speaker 5: that hero snake Eyes.
- 19:24Speaker 8: That's my name for Hervenka is a hell of a
- 19:27Speaker 8: leader if you roll high, though.
- 19:30Speaker 4: I was gonna say if if you roll well, like
- 19:34Speaker 4: she is an RNG engine, and I just know like
- 19:36Speaker 4: one day it's gonna be like all my luck goes
- 19:38Speaker 4: into ruining someone's day, and that that I run really well.
- 19:43Speaker 8: Actually, if you can get the permanent on board and
- 19:47Speaker 8: online early by like turn one, turn two, the rest
- 19:50Speaker 8: of the game, you get to pick and choose your
- 19:52Speaker 8: bonuses all gain long, so it's it's great. Like when
- 19:56Speaker 8: I need to anchor something, I can make sure I
- 19:57Speaker 8: get it anchored, or I need to lose something, I
- 19:59Speaker 8: make sure I get boosted that permanent. The bastion, the
- 20:03Speaker 8: Lyra Bastian. That thing makes the world of a difference,
- 20:06Speaker 8: and it makes her so consistent.
- 20:10Speaker 4: The other one I'm now looking at. I now want
- 20:13Speaker 4: to find whoever Fenn and Crowbar are joined the Crowbar squad.
- 20:21Speaker 4: Nothing's more cool. I'm guessing Crowbar is the pumpkin guitarist.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Maybe he's a bass that could be a bass that's
- 20:29Speaker 4: kind of just cool. I'm probably going to be the
- 20:33Speaker 4: perpetual nube to this game because I'm probably going to
- 20:38Speaker 4: play it more casual than anything else, because that's just
- 20:42Speaker 4: where we're at right now. Maybe one day we'll sink in,
- 20:45Speaker 4: maybe we'll have something in Chicago and me and Ze
- 20:48Speaker 4: can meet up once again.
- 20:49Speaker 7: For sure, it does play very nice casually, if you know,
- 20:52Speaker 7: if that is the shtick that you want to stick on.
- 20:54Speaker 4: And you know, rolling dice. To me, nothing, nothing is
- 20:57Speaker 4: better than being able to hit on a luck, you
- 21:01Speaker 4: know what I mean, just to make somebody cry. But
- 21:04Speaker 4: that's that's be it. That's okay. So we've kind of
- 21:06Speaker 4: gotten that overview. I feel like we should have done
- 21:08Speaker 4: that first, but that's not good.
- 21:11Speaker 5: I do want to introduce another missfit that just joined us.
- 21:14Speaker 5: This is Ethereal He is the owner of the survey
- 21:17Speaker 5: here and thanks for all of the support he's shown
- 21:20Speaker 5: in one of the another local Texas. Actually, so I
- 21:24Speaker 5: feel like you guys have as in Texas. We have
- 21:27Speaker 5: we played cards down here.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Bro.
- 21:29Speaker 4: I need Yeah, clearly I need to move to Texas because, yeah,
- 21:32Speaker 4: I've been saying not not only do you guys have
- 21:35Speaker 4: all the card shops on top of that, like you
- 21:39Speaker 4: guys start your bucket managers at like one hundred grand,
- 21:42Speaker 4: which I am a store manager. Now knowing that like
- 21:45Speaker 4: somebody in BUCkies that like runs the meat department is
- 21:49Speaker 4: making like the.
- 21:51Speaker 5: Guy that sits outside at the car wash that just
- 21:53Speaker 5: is their car wash manager, which is literally just sitting
- 21:56Speaker 5: there all day makes ninety eight. Yeah, he doesn't do
- 21:59Speaker 5: it anything, he just sits there.
- 22:01Speaker 4: Texas, Here I come.
- 22:02Speaker 2: But before you get too excited, I do want to
- 22:04Speaker 2: let you know that the rest of us that don't
- 22:05Speaker 2: work at BUCkies are not making that kind of money.
- 22:08Speaker 5: So yeah, yeah, but the stall on that, like I
- 22:12Speaker 5: work at Education, I do not.
- 22:14Speaker 4: Make I'm just like as Bucky is like a tough
- 22:16Speaker 4: place to get into.
- 22:18Speaker 5: Uh no, actually they're always hiring.
- 22:21Speaker 3: They are literally always hiring.
- 22:22Speaker 5: Yeah, they have their own management program and everything. So, yeah,
- 22:25Speaker 5: you probably I really wanted to be a BUCkies manage.
- 22:27Speaker 4: I've been here for how old are right now? Like
- 22:31Speaker 4: fifteen years or something like that. I've been a manager.
- 22:34Speaker 4: I think I got the XP and I run I
- 22:36Speaker 4: run a bond store in the hood. I think I
- 22:38Speaker 4: think I got this.
- 22:40Speaker 3: They're opening the world's largest one soon.
- 22:44Speaker 4: Maybe zee, I'm moving next door here, let's go. You
- 22:47Speaker 4: can hear me.
- 22:48Speaker 5: I'm about to have a new house. I can put
- 22:50Speaker 5: you up for a little bit.
- 22:52Speaker 4: You can hear me.
- 22:53Speaker 5: Might No, no, never mind, I forgot about that. No,
- 22:56Speaker 5: you can sleep outside in the neighbor's yo.
- 22:59Speaker 7: I still you'll hear him outside those Yeah, like more
- 23:02Speaker 7: than likely.
- 23:03Speaker 5: I mean, let's get to a band down by the river.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Let's put it this way for Keith Forage. This year
- 23:07Speaker 4: when we go to Minnesota, we had to buy a
- 23:09Speaker 4: suite so we could have two rooms.
- 23:11Speaker 7: I hear.
- 23:13Speaker 6: So the really interesting thing, Wookie that you said is
- 23:17Speaker 6: you played Altered at gen Con and you started.
- 23:21Speaker 4: I did not play it at gen Con. I got
- 23:24Speaker 4: exposed to it on tabletop simulator. One of our one
- 23:29Speaker 4: of our mutual friends here is his name is Domino,
- 23:31Speaker 4: he might be in the server. I have no idea.
- 23:33Speaker 6: I was gonna say, there's a chance that we met
- 23:36Speaker 6: and you haven't known it until now.
- 23:38Speaker 4: I tried and tried and tried to get into one
- 23:42Speaker 4: of their I don't like pre releases. I don't really
- 23:46Speaker 4: know what they were calling them. And every time, yeah,
- 23:49Speaker 4: whatever they were calling him, and I tried and tried
- 23:51Speaker 4: and tried, and I couldn't like for whatever reason, every
- 23:54Speaker 4: time I was like, all right, I picked this one.
- 23:56Speaker 4: It was like sold out immediately. So between the.
- 24:01Speaker 6: Yeah, the road shows had usually just one person running
- 24:05Speaker 6: it out of store, so it had a sixteen player limit.
- 24:09Speaker 6: I want to say, I could pull up my documentation, but.
- 24:13Speaker 8: I forget sixteen person except for like maybe gamers Guild.
- 24:17Speaker 8: Easy for Gamers Guild, they had like thirty two and
- 24:20Speaker 8: sixty four. That's because they had tons of product and
- 24:24Speaker 8: they had tons of staff.
- 24:27Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 24:27Speaker 4: After a while, I'm like, can I just buy a
- 24:29Speaker 4: starter since I can't get in? And they let me,
- 24:31Speaker 4: so I bought. I bought that starter because I greatly
- 24:36Speaker 4: enjoyed it when I played an online and I thought
- 24:40Speaker 4: it was the most fun. It's probably not. I know,
- 24:43Speaker 4: it's not the most competitive. Don't anything involving dice is
- 24:46Speaker 4: never the most competitive. But I thought it was the
- 24:49Speaker 4: most fun out of the ones I played. Hey, that's that's.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Like the key factor in enjoying and sticking with a
- 24:56Speaker 2: game so competitive or not give it time, like people
- 25:00Speaker 2: are out there wanting to roll dice. Eventually, she'll get
- 25:03Speaker 2: her time in the spotlight one.
- 25:05Speaker 8: I'm curious though, about what's gonna happen with the meta
- 25:09Speaker 8: after the major French tournament next week or this coming weekend,
- 25:13Speaker 8: because they have ten twenty four players signed up.
- 25:16Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it's one twenty four max max. Yeah, that's
- 25:20Speaker 5: that's it. It's gonna be in.
- 25:23Speaker 6: Yep, the uh you want to know the ludo ludo trotter.
- 25:27Speaker 6: I have the information up for later.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Kind he's flying us all to France so that we
- 25:32Speaker 2: can participate, right see, maybe one.
- 25:35Speaker 5: Day not today. But it's not a no.
- 25:41Speaker 3: He didn't say no. That's right, he didn't say no.
- 25:44Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, shall we two uh metal lions with
- 25:50Speaker 4: mister Zach.
- 25:57Speaker 7: We're not talking about meta lines this week though, right
- 25:59Speaker 7: specifically you're.
- 26:00Speaker 5: Talking you're talking about the tell us about your events
- 26:03Speaker 5: this week? Would you do all right?
- 26:05Speaker 7: So Cole put on a alter Texas for the alter
- 26:09Speaker 7: Texas Server event on bg A. The BGA platform for
- 26:15Speaker 7: running Altered is pretty fault flawless, like they've done a
- 26:18Speaker 7: very good job pointing in there and everything seems to
- 26:21Speaker 7: be running really well. They had another software before that
- 26:24Speaker 7: was privately done, but it wasn't allowing people to import
- 26:27Speaker 7: their uniques, which is a very important part of the
- 26:28Speaker 7: game if you uh gathered any of that from Ogre's conversation.
- 26:34Speaker 7: So in that event, I did play probably the one
- 26:38Speaker 7: of the meta decks with the Hero Waru and Mac
- 26:43Speaker 7: no not terribly surprising. I did top place with that
- 26:47Speaker 7: because of the deck itself. I did end up placing
- 26:52Speaker 7: first with that. The second place deck was also a
- 26:54Speaker 7: Waru in Mac and I don't remember if I remember
- 27:00Speaker 7: third and third, fourth?
- 27:02Speaker 5: Who was in second place?
- 27:05Speaker 7: Cow's Tippin' Yeah, one of our one of our Dallas
- 27:09Speaker 7: area people in the server.
- 27:13Speaker 6: Yes, So we did a season zero to test out
- 27:17Speaker 6: the tournaments software, and it probably would have been good
- 27:21Speaker 6: if I collected more data.
- 27:24Speaker 4: I'm sorry, I'm.
- 27:25Speaker 5: Just and it worked, Wookie, it worked perfectly.
- 27:28Speaker 7: Again.
- 27:28Speaker 5: I'm not going to bade on some other right now.
- 27:32Speaker 7: This worked. This worked really well, but this was through
- 27:34Speaker 7: BGA though yeah, this was this, but they had.
- 27:37Speaker 5: To integrate through their sure the system, none of this
- 27:40Speaker 5: works unless what is the altered company. It's sort of
- 27:44Speaker 5: the economics Equinox, like Equinox had to put like, there
- 27:48Speaker 5: is nothing on BJA like this right now, so Equinox
- 27:51Speaker 5: did have to do a lot of working with their
- 27:53Speaker 5: server people.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Should we take just a moment to explain it. I
- 27:56Speaker 2: think we've kind of we've beat around the bush a
- 27:58Speaker 2: little bit about what they've done, but that the core
- 28:00Speaker 2: of it is like BGA on its own board game
- 28:02Speaker 2: Arena is a website that you can go to and
- 28:05Speaker 2: they offer pretty well scripted tutorials for a lot of
- 28:10Speaker 2: board games, but also just the ability to play both
- 28:12Speaker 2: in real time and asynchronously with people everywhere. Right, Not
- 28:17Speaker 2: every board game in the world obviously is supported, but
- 28:19Speaker 2: quite a few are, and it's it's pretty well built.
- 28:22Speaker 2: The altered iteration of of the platform is actually, yeah,
- 28:27Speaker 2: they partner directly with the people that own it, and
- 28:31Speaker 2: there's full collection integration. So all of us have scanned
- 28:35Speaker 2: our cards, they exist in our digital collection. All we
- 28:39Speaker 2: have to do is log into BGA go to the
- 28:41Speaker 2: Altered game, and when we when we fire a you know,
- 28:44Speaker 2: a round of the game up, we say, okay, find
- 28:46Speaker 2: me an opponent. There's a ranked mode, there's a casual mode,
- 28:50Speaker 2: there's preferences in terms of how long you want to
- 28:53Speaker 2: give each person to play. There's there's so many things
- 28:56Speaker 2: you can do, and that just asks, hey, you know
- 28:58Speaker 2: you've got these six decks built in your collection, which
- 29:02Speaker 2: is when do you want to use? Brings it all over.
- 29:04Speaker 2: We don't have to do anything beyond that, right, just
- 29:07Speaker 2: sign it.
- 29:08Speaker 5: Yeah, it's great and right now, right now, this very minute,
- 29:12Speaker 5: and at all times I've ever checked, it's around this number.
- 29:14Speaker 5: There are fourteen hundred and thirty two active games, meaning
- 29:17Speaker 5: there are twenty eight hundred and sixty four people playing
- 29:21Speaker 5: Altered in this competitive match system as I'm speaking right now.
- 29:27Speaker 5: This other game that we occasionally might mention, the highest
- 29:30Speaker 5: I think I've ever seen in that thing was forty fifty.
- 29:35Speaker 5: There are a lot of people freaking playing this game
- 29:37Speaker 5: right now, like a ton.
- 29:40Speaker 8: Yeah, I will say it has a little bit of
- 29:41Speaker 8: everything for everybody, especially like because it's on BGA, it'll
- 29:45Speaker 8: attract the board gamers, but because it's made by European company.
- 29:51Speaker 8: I I'm kind of a I'm a big fan of
- 29:55Speaker 8: Regis because with Equinox, this is his second company he
- 29:59Speaker 8: created like dickx It and Mysterium, which are really fun
- 30:02Speaker 8: like outlandish board games, and so yeah, they're great games.
- 30:07Speaker 3: Like if you haven't.
- 30:08Speaker 8: Played them, I suggest you try them because it carries
- 30:11Speaker 8: over a lot of the art and the style and
- 30:14Speaker 8: like gameplay wise that altered is kind of known for now,
- 30:18Speaker 8: and so Asmode Games obviously saw a huge potential there.
- 30:23Speaker 3: So, as we've talked about before, BGA is.
- 30:26Speaker 8: Owned by Asmody Games, but with the openness of the
- 30:32Speaker 8: of I guess information out there, they do partially own
- 30:35Speaker 8: Equinox now, and so they have much more incentive to
- 30:40Speaker 8: make sure that it is published well, produced well and
- 30:44Speaker 8: the distributed well as well as like performing on BGA
- 30:49Speaker 8: to get the name out there. And I've said this
- 30:52Speaker 8: to a lot of people, like they didn't have to
- 30:56Speaker 8: do Kickstarter. They didn't have to do BGA because they
- 30:59Speaker 8: had the back from the world's largest publisher and distributor already,
- 31:03Speaker 8: as More Day Games is over five billion dollars in assets.
- 31:06Speaker 3: They didn't need any of that and yet to.
- 31:09Speaker 8: Develop something so robust for us as the players both
- 31:13Speaker 8: competitively and casually on BGA and other sources. Is tremendous
- 31:18Speaker 8: in what they've done so far in just such a
- 31:21Speaker 8: short amount of time.
- 31:22Speaker 3: I mean, think about it.
- 31:24Speaker 8: This ended in March for us, and now we're in
- 31:27Speaker 8: not even barely October, and we're playing all these things
- 31:30Speaker 8: and we're seeing thousands and thousands of matches every day,
- 31:34Speaker 8: you know, So it's pretty amazing.
- 31:35Speaker 5: Because people were talking about this on the server at
- 31:37Speaker 5: some point and people were like, well, when is this
- 31:39Speaker 5: gonna happen? This is like, you know, I was like,
- 31:41Speaker 5: y'all need to cool your jests. Like, honestly, if BGA
- 31:44Speaker 5: had integration by November, I would have been super impressed
- 31:49Speaker 5: and pleased. The fact that it came out this fast
- 31:53Speaker 5: and it's had so few glitches is amazing. Like their computer,
- 31:56Speaker 5: like their software, glitch response time has been outlandishly fast.
- 32:01Speaker 5: In my opinion, because we just talked about the card
- 32:04Speaker 5: quetz a caddle four days ago, the trigger effect wasn't
- 32:08Speaker 5: actually working in relation to two other heroes. It wasn't
- 32:12Speaker 5: working for Fenn and it wasn't working for Turbo, and
- 32:16Speaker 5: bug reports got reported that day and in twenty four
- 32:19Speaker 5: hours it was fixed, and it even said the day
- 32:22Speaker 5: that it was happening, there was like a note in
- 32:25Speaker 5: in the game that said, we are aware of this bug,
- 32:28Speaker 5: we are working on it, and then the next day
- 32:30Speaker 5: it says we have fixed this blah blah blah blah blah,
- 32:33Speaker 5: like right there on your load screen. I was just like,
- 32:37Speaker 5: that is way over share that devs normally don't need
- 32:40Speaker 5: to do, Like they just don't normally do any of that.
- 32:43Speaker 5: You just kind of like, see what gets fixed when
- 32:45Speaker 5: you get hot fixes pushed.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Yeah, so as as maybe a parent, we're as players,
- 32:50Speaker 2: we're pretty fun of it. I didn't mean to derail Zach.
- 32:53Speaker 2: I just thought maybe it would help context. And absolutely, no,
- 32:56Speaker 2: I think it was. I think it was well well needed.
- 33:01Speaker 2: But yeah, no, it absolutely the game. It it I
- 33:05Speaker 2: have yet to run into a problem playing that.
- 33:06Speaker 7: I'm bga. I think it runs fantastic. It it gives
- 33:10Speaker 7: you more like as far as like the tumult or
- 33:13Speaker 7: the exploration as your characters are advancing. It has like
- 33:16Speaker 7: a nicer look to it. The cards flip over, like
- 33:19Speaker 7: everything just kind of flows very nicely with the the
- 33:25Speaker 7: interactions with the game itself on the thing, how did you.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Feel about it? I feel like your perspective is really
- 33:33Speaker 2: good when you get on this because you actually played
- 33:35Speaker 2: every round in the tournament. How did how did you
- 33:38Speaker 2: feel about how it ran in terms of what was
- 33:40Speaker 2: expected of you as a player, and like how the
- 33:45Speaker 2: I guess just how the general flow of that season
- 33:47Speaker 2: zero tournament went.
- 33:49Speaker 7: So actually I did not play in every single round
- 33:52Speaker 7: because of my opponents were I was there. I was
- 33:56Speaker 7: there for every single round, but for two of them
- 33:58Speaker 7: my opponents did not show up. I think cole at
- 34:01Speaker 7: at some point did open it up to or people
- 34:03Speaker 7: found it rather on the uh the altered you know,
- 34:08Speaker 7: turn tournaments. Yeah, and so yeah, I think around the
- 34:13Speaker 7: match one. In match three, my player did not show up.
- 34:15Speaker 7: But what was really nice about the system was that
- 34:18Speaker 7: after five or ten minutes, I think it was closer
- 34:20Speaker 7: to ten, it declared me as winning and moved me on.
- 34:24Speaker 7: As far as the games themselves, as soon as your
- 34:28Speaker 7: opponent was done, you could fire right into that next game.
- 34:32Speaker 7: That was it.
- 34:34Speaker 5: He was referring to it being a single elimination and
- 34:36Speaker 5: in some ways that we had in the past for
- 34:38Speaker 5: some other event sites like you would have to wait
- 34:40Speaker 5: for all around one to finish. You did not have
- 34:43Speaker 5: to do that the way BG has it set up.
- 34:45Speaker 5: If you're the person you're pair two is done, y'all
- 34:48Speaker 5: got paired immediately you started. Those really need to see that.
- 34:52Speaker 7: And if you were done, you could go in and
- 34:55Speaker 7: spectate a match that was still continuing, which was really
- 34:57Speaker 7: cool because in the second tournament that I'm going to t about,
- 35:00Speaker 7: we actually there was a lot of people that were
- 35:02Speaker 7: watching the final match. But yeah, with the the Texas
- 35:05Speaker 7: Altered Season zero, I thought it ran very smoothly, the
- 35:10Speaker 7: you know, for everyone learning for you know, Cole said
- 35:12Speaker 7: that I think this was the first one that he
- 35:14Speaker 7: had set up. It it ran very well. Couldn't be
- 35:18Speaker 7: happier with the uh, the gameplay, the outcome and the
- 35:21Speaker 7: matchups and stuff. And in the fifteen minute Swiss chest timer,
- 35:24Speaker 7: I thought that was that was nice than that too,
- 35:28Speaker 7: So big ups Cole, good job.
- 35:32Speaker 4: So what's a what's a typical tournament for Altered? Is it?
- 35:35Speaker 4: Is it single limb? Is it?
- 35:38Speaker 5: Well? Zach talk about the next one.
- 35:40Speaker 7: So the other one that we were well that all
- 35:43Speaker 7: five of us here that played in was the Altered
- 35:47Speaker 7: Weekly Online League or a Wall, which I really liked
- 35:51Speaker 7: the name that one was. That one had a lot
- 35:55Speaker 7: of people. I believe it was eighty six total signed up.
- 35:59Speaker 7: This one was people from all over the US, all
- 36:01Speaker 7: over the world. I remember seeing some Canadian players, some
- 36:05Speaker 7: Italian players, some French players in there based off of
- 36:09Speaker 7: their their line on or their flag rather on their
- 36:14Speaker 7: bg A profile. The this tournament was ran with Swiss,
- 36:20Speaker 7: and so this was you weren't single eliminated. You got
- 36:23Speaker 7: to play multiple rounds and it kind of did the
- 36:26Speaker 7: pairing as any kind of Swiss matchups would, so you know,
- 36:30Speaker 7: half the players won, they're going to be matched up,
- 36:32Speaker 7: the losing players they're going to be matched up, and
- 36:33Speaker 7: so on and so forth. In this specific tournament, I
- 36:38Speaker 7: did finish third. I My only loss was to the
- 36:41Speaker 7: second place player. Again, the top four decks in this
- 36:47Speaker 7: one were Waru Warru Waru, which, again, if you're not
- 36:53Speaker 7: seeing already a connection with that, that is part of
- 36:55Speaker 7: the ortisfaction. That is part of the faction that the
- 36:58Speaker 7: Qutsquaddal that Ogre was talking about earlier belongs to. It
- 37:02Speaker 7: is a it is a very powerful hero to play with.
- 37:09Speaker 7: It's it's very interesting to play because there's a lot
- 37:11Speaker 7: of decision points where you have to make based off
- 37:13Speaker 7: the hero ability and just what you're playing. But it
- 37:16Speaker 7: goes with the y of the factions, right, It's it's
- 37:20Speaker 7: a lot of fun for me. I like it, Yes,
- 37:24Speaker 7: to win. No, it's more so that I like to,
- 37:27Speaker 7: you know, make people suffer that I play against. No,
- 37:30Speaker 7: that's not. One of the cards that I'm sure will
- 37:33Speaker 7: come up is the robin Hood card that either makes
- 37:36Speaker 7: the characters or cards in general, that your opponent's play
- 37:40Speaker 7: cost one more. With the war Room macability, allowing your
- 37:44Speaker 7: character to put them asleep means that that ability is
- 37:48Speaker 7: still in effect for not the round that they're played in,
- 37:51Speaker 7: but also the next round when they actually awaken. Their
- 37:53Speaker 7: stats count for the when you do the comparing statistics
- 37:56Speaker 7: at the end. So with that, yeah, so the second
- 38:01Speaker 7: place guy beat me. There was, I mean, playing a
- 38:05Speaker 7: very similar deck, a little bit of a tweaks that
- 38:07Speaker 7: I wasn't expecting, but that had really affect anything. The
- 38:10Speaker 7: biggest thing was that he got out his discount card
- 38:13Speaker 7: faster and then his make my cards cost more expensive,
- 38:16Speaker 7: like one turf faster, and each of those and it's
- 38:19Speaker 7: hard to come back from that as any of these
- 38:21Speaker 7: other guys kind of test to. And then the first place,
- 38:24Speaker 7: Pluca was the one with the broken what's the tuddle
- 38:26Speaker 7: card that allowed him to potentially draw five card or
- 38:29Speaker 7: twelve cards over the life of the game. Potentially even
- 38:32Speaker 7: more too if he's running another card Sandman to put
- 38:35Speaker 7: him back to sleep. He also was playing very very well. Yes, yes, yeah,
- 38:41Speaker 7: Pluca played very well. And so back to what I
- 38:45Speaker 7: was mentioning earlier, with VGA and the software that they run,
- 38:48Speaker 7: you can live watch any tournament or any game that's
- 38:51Speaker 7: going on. It's very quick. It has all the brackets
- 38:54Speaker 7: and stuff. You can kind of just go in and
- 38:56Speaker 7: see what you know, if a game is live or not,
- 38:59Speaker 7: you can go in there. And so like the last
- 39:01Speaker 7: game with Luca and Maddis Faction who was second place,
- 39:05Speaker 7: it had like ten spectators at the end, which was
- 39:07Speaker 7: really cool to see because like that was the match, right,
- 39:10Speaker 7: you know that both those guys had won the entire
- 39:12Speaker 7: way up and that was the make or break. But yeah,
- 39:18Speaker 7: a lot of fun.
- 39:19Speaker 4: So at the current time, what is the game plan
- 39:22Speaker 4: for like an organized play for Altered is it up
- 39:27Speaker 4: to the stores where they had it.
- 39:29Speaker 5: With this they have like adventure points. Honestly, some of
- 39:33Speaker 5: our castmen's probably know a lot more about that than me.
- 39:38Speaker 2: It's again like because official like the more competitive side
- 39:44Speaker 2: of organized play, they've been saying for a long time
- 39:47Speaker 2: now that they're not really going to be delving into
- 39:50Speaker 2: that until twenty twenty five. Right now, I think a
- 39:53Speaker 2: lot of people are just kind of testing things out
- 39:55Speaker 2: and seeing what feels right. Like, we don't know if
- 39:57Speaker 2: it's going to be single a limb until you get
- 39:59Speaker 2: to a top sixteen and then maybe you go to
- 40:02Speaker 2: the doublem or like this.
- 40:05Speaker 5: Good there is something that's super important that would be
- 40:08Speaker 5: attractive to some people that have not yet decided to
- 40:11Speaker 5: get an altar. There are stores that can sign up
- 40:13Speaker 5: for a store account and altered sends them an OPE
- 40:19Speaker 5: kit that doesn't have like a matt or Bobbles or whatever.
- 40:22Speaker 5: If you play in an event, just for signing up
- 40:24Speaker 5: for an event from the OPA kit, you get an
- 40:26Speaker 5: OPE booster. Pac has three cards in it. One of
- 40:31Speaker 5: the three cards is guaran, one of them is a
- 40:33Speaker 5: special art token, and then one of the cards is
- 40:38Speaker 5: guaranteed to either be a promo hero or a unique
- 40:41Speaker 5: straight up.
- 40:43Speaker 6: So the Argan shows, Yeah, are very good. I've played
- 40:49Speaker 6: twice at a local event and gotten a unique both times,
- 40:53Speaker 6: so they're very good. The official stands for now, I
- 40:58Speaker 6: think is they want to let the stores decide how
- 41:02Speaker 6: to run organized play and how to do you know,
- 41:07Speaker 6: any prizing or things like that. But they have that recommendations, but.
- 41:12Speaker 5: They're giving them something of value to me.
- 41:14Speaker 4: So they're giving them the tools, which is the important part, right.
- 41:19Speaker 2: And one of the things that that's uh without like
- 41:21Speaker 2: going into because anybody that's that's listening is going to
- 41:24Speaker 2: want to do Obviously, we're we're glossing over a lot
- 41:27Speaker 2: of like the basics of how to play the game
- 41:29Speaker 2: and the basics of you know, how it's distributed and
- 41:30Speaker 2: all these kinds of things. But Altered has some unique
- 41:34Speaker 2: infrastructure in terms of your account and what you're going
- 41:38Speaker 2: to be able to do with it in the future.
- 41:40Speaker 2: So Ze mentioned very briefly these adventure points. This is
- 41:44Speaker 2: a system where for just showing up. Right, like we've
- 41:48Speaker 2: we've all played video games. We know what a battle
- 41:50Speaker 2: path looks like, love it or hate it like it's
- 41:52Speaker 2: it's a way to reward you for for going and
- 41:54Speaker 2: doing the thing. You were going to do already, We've
- 41:56Speaker 2: altered from around the world, right, because this is a
- 42:00Speaker 2: global thing. They can just get the numbers of people
- 42:05Speaker 2: that are going in and participating in events, give you
- 42:08Speaker 2: levels on this battle pass whatever, and who knows what
- 42:10Speaker 2: it's going to look like eventually, but for now, they
- 42:13Speaker 2: can reward you directly into your account with the digital
- 42:17Speaker 2: like promo card or anything really and then once it's
- 42:21Speaker 2: in your account after print on Demand gets released, that's
- 42:27Speaker 2: a way to like more so than any other game,
- 42:30Speaker 2: that's a very cost effective way to distribute prizing and
- 42:36Speaker 2: like incentivize league play and in store play that some
- 42:41Speaker 2: games just don't, yeah, don't have available to them by
- 42:45Speaker 2: vision of what the how the rest of the system works.
- 42:48Speaker 5: And our local that we play just got approved as
- 42:50Speaker 5: a print on demand delivery point last week, like so
- 42:54Speaker 5: maybe they're going to bulk ship print on demand orders
- 42:57Speaker 5: to keep their cost down. Equinox will and the story
- 43:01Speaker 5: play at will be where we pick the stuff up
- 43:03Speaker 5: that we print on demand.
- 43:05Speaker 7: It is.
- 43:05Speaker 5: It's pretty cool.
- 43:06Speaker 2: It's very exciting, like the things that they'll be able
- 43:08Speaker 2: to do with that, like in any other game, Like
- 43:10Speaker 2: let's say that I wanted to maybe like a Halloween
- 43:14Speaker 2: promotional card. Right, If I want to get that into
- 43:17Speaker 2: the hands of the players, I have to first of
- 43:19Speaker 2: all pay the artist. I have to get that through
- 43:24Speaker 2: printing and cutting and organizing and everything else that's going
- 43:28Speaker 2: to get it ready to ship to people, which I
- 43:30Speaker 2: then have to do. And then I've got to get
- 43:32Speaker 2: that in the hands of people that are going to
- 43:33Speaker 2: be able to give it to their players. It's a
- 43:35Speaker 2: very long, great convoluted process, and we've all seen like
- 43:38Speaker 2: how many problems that can pose a company. They can
- 43:46Speaker 2: do that first part where they get an artist to
- 43:49Speaker 2: draw something like really gorgeous.
- 43:51Speaker 5: They or like art backgrounds like, that's.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Then right, and then they could just distribute it to us,
- 43:57Speaker 2: and the next time that you place your order, Hey,
- 44:00Speaker 2: i've got that Halloween promo that I got for going
- 44:02Speaker 2: and doing that cool event at the store. Let me
- 44:04Speaker 2: get a copy of that printed so that I can
- 44:05Speaker 2: have it to play with not just on BGA, but
- 44:08Speaker 2: when I go out of my local shop as well. Obviously,
- 44:12Speaker 2: like we don't have details on what that's going to
- 44:13Speaker 2: look like two years from now, but for me anyways,
- 44:16Speaker 2: the things that they could do with that are very
- 44:19Speaker 2: very exciting. So I'm it'll be cool to see what
- 44:21Speaker 2: they do with that in terms of tournament prizing and
- 44:24Speaker 2: everything else as we go.
- 44:25Speaker 5: Yeah, but like the most competitive ones, the ones that
- 44:27Speaker 5: are going to really grind out a ton of games,
- 44:30Speaker 5: are going to be playing a ton of games on BGA.
- 44:32Speaker 5: So like they'll get to see their promo, like you
- 44:34Speaker 5: just said, if it's like a you know, a winter
- 44:37Speaker 5: holiday one, they'll get to see their like you know,
- 44:39Speaker 5: quetzacuddal Santa Claus or whatever, if they decided to do something.
- 44:44Speaker 4: My biggest disappointment is I finally found this quetz tocadal
- 44:47Speaker 4: and I'm disappointed it's not a quetzacaddle.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:52Speaker 4: Do you know what a quetzal coadle is. It is
- 44:57Speaker 4: a real live creature. It's like a like a tiny salamander.
- 45:03Speaker 4: I mean it's it's a dragon. This is not a dragon.
- 45:08Speaker 4: It doesn't have what would.
- 45:10Speaker 6: We call so altered is also based on myth and legend,
- 45:15Speaker 6: so it's also based off of like the legendary quosicono.
- 45:19Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, I think it's based on the meso American.
- 45:24Speaker 7: The Feathered Serpent deity, which it does say that it's
- 45:27Speaker 7: a deity in the card. It's a character bureaucract deity.
- 45:29Speaker 7: I just wanted to tell.
- 45:30Speaker 2: And also, I think I think you're you might be
- 45:33Speaker 2: you might be thinking maybe, don't worry. I've got one
- 45:37Speaker 2: of those for you to meet me over an axiom land.
- 45:40Speaker 2: We we have them, We're ready to go.
- 45:43Speaker 4: I like rolling dice.
- 45:44Speaker 7: I just I did want to bring up two more
- 45:47Speaker 7: things about the BJA tournament thing that we had, all right,
- 45:50Speaker 7: And I don't I don't want to step on Cole's
- 45:51Speaker 7: I know he's talking about the actual Yeah, but one
- 45:55Speaker 7: of the nice things about BJA tournament software was that
- 45:59Speaker 7: it does, as Cole pointed out to us on the
- 46:01Speaker 7: altered tix of server, was that it does allow us
- 46:04Speaker 7: to kind of see the strength of schedule or how
- 46:06Speaker 7: you know, how they're basically ranking for final rankings within
- 46:10Speaker 7: the system, and so it shows you, you know, how
- 46:12Speaker 7: many points you earned based on wins, how many games
- 46:14Speaker 7: you played, skipped opponents points, and then your opponent's average ELO,
- 46:19Speaker 7: which is their ranking system for Arida play on BGA.
- 46:24Speaker 7: The second thing that I want to do is that
- 46:25Speaker 7: somebody did break down the top the top decks, the
- 46:29Speaker 7: ones that got four or more wins, and there were
- 46:31Speaker 7: twenty seven people that did end up placing within that bracket.
- 46:37Speaker 7: Fifty five percent of those top decks. The four plus
- 46:42Speaker 7: win decks were Ortis, which is a you know, it's Sigasmar,
- 46:46Speaker 7: It's Warru and go ring. Now Sigismar and Rover we're
- 46:49Speaker 7: both tied for about seven apiece. Again, that is showing
- 46:52Speaker 7: you where the meta is at right and that's how
- 46:55Speaker 7: it's going to be. The next place was Lera at
- 46:58Speaker 7: which I think is the one that you're talking about, Bookie,
- 47:01Speaker 7: fourteen point eight percent. So it's a very strong distribution
- 47:05Speaker 7: about where one people think the meta is and to
- 47:09Speaker 7: where the meta truly is right now, and it is
- 47:11Speaker 7: in Ortis, it is in Sigismar, and it isn't Waru.
- 47:16Speaker 8: I think that was pretty much the case going in.
- 47:19Speaker 8: People saw the starters. I don't think that competitive scene wise,
- 47:24Speaker 8: the starters were a big deviation from that, except for
- 47:28Speaker 8: minus Lyra, because Lyra, honestly, that was a terrible starter deck.
- 47:33Speaker 8: Does anyone to start with you will get stopped. That's
- 47:38Speaker 8: just the support was not there compared to the other
- 47:42Speaker 8: decks that were very much pick up and play and
- 47:45Speaker 8: ran smoothly for the most part.
- 47:47Speaker 3: Right, We're definitely going to.
- 47:49Speaker 8: See more of the control decks coming out to see
- 47:53Speaker 8: how people tech in to go up against Sigismar and Waru,
- 47:57Speaker 8: because now people are finding out can actually go up
- 48:01Speaker 8: against Waroo pretty well. If you're using Coda, Kojo and Buddha,
- 48:05Speaker 8: they they match up pretty well.
- 48:08Speaker 3: We got a guy in our discord, uh.
- 48:11Speaker 8: He's a buddy of mine, not a piece of meat
- 48:13Speaker 8: like he He went back to back against Warouz yesterday
- 48:18Speaker 8: and pretty much beat him almost every time, even on
- 48:21Speaker 8: back to back robin hood.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Drops, you know, so it can.
- 48:24Speaker 8: It's we'll see where the meta shakes out in the
- 48:27Speaker 8: next two weeks with big events around the corner. But
- 48:31Speaker 8: I think we all touched on it a little bit
- 48:33Speaker 8: with yellow rank games and all that. It's amazing that
- 48:37Speaker 8: none of that is actually behind the paywall like some
- 48:39Speaker 8: of the other board games that are on VGA. So
- 48:43Speaker 8: for the benefit of free to play and not wanting
- 48:46Speaker 8: to spend like three dollars a month or whatever on
- 48:49Speaker 8: the premium. Uh, it's it's huge for players that just
- 48:52Speaker 8: want to get on there, play some ranked games and
- 48:55Speaker 8: things like that, or just play casually and see where
- 48:58Speaker 8: they stack up and not have the hey for that
- 49:00Speaker 8: kind of information, seeing your deck breakdowns, your wind breakdowns,
- 49:04Speaker 8: your losses and percentages and all that stuff.
- 49:06Speaker 3: Like especially with all that.
- 49:09Speaker 5: The instant deck connection, like the automatic load of your
- 49:12Speaker 5: deck is amazing, Like you have to do zero work
- 49:16Speaker 5: if you have it in your account, you already made
- 49:18Speaker 5: a dec it's there. Period.
- 49:21Speaker 6: Not to mention editing on the fly, which I did
- 49:23Speaker 6: three times before we started talking to my one deck,
- 49:27Speaker 6: edit it and then jump into a game.
- 49:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I edited from my phone, probably more than I
- 49:31Speaker 5: should for but like it. And it takes a lot
- 49:35Speaker 5: to get there because I have to get off of
- 49:37Speaker 5: the Wi Fi and blah blah blah. But yeah, it
- 49:39Speaker 5: still happens. You have that idea, it is like, well
- 49:41Speaker 5: maybe I should try this card, and then you know
- 49:43Speaker 5: you want to put it in a deck. It's it's crazy,
- 49:46Speaker 5: it's fun.
- 49:48Speaker 8: And you just hit the nail on the head right there,
- 49:50Speaker 8: ze with with and then Cole was editing decks on
- 49:54Speaker 8: the fly right Like no other game allows you to
- 49:57Speaker 8: play test this quickly in this fast with your collection
- 50:01Speaker 8: rather than like buying, Oh I need to buy this first,
- 50:04Speaker 8: I can test it out or I need to do
- 50:06Speaker 8: this first before I can test it out. You can
- 50:08Speaker 8: build on the fly and it immediately links like in
- 50:11Speaker 8: a snap, and you have the ability now to test
- 50:15Speaker 8: right before tournament if you needed to, you know, and
- 50:19Speaker 8: you'll find a game no matter what.
- 50:20Speaker 3: It's pretty amazing.
- 50:22Speaker 5: Fifteen hundred people, well no, I'm sorry. Three thousand people
- 50:25Speaker 5: fifteen UNDERD games. They're just right now.
- 50:27Speaker 3: It's just climbing.
- 50:29Speaker 5: Yep.
- 50:31Speaker 6: Yeah, I've been playing. I've been playing Star Wars Unlimited,
- 50:37Speaker 6: and there's a very good developer who's making a solo client,
- 50:42Speaker 6: hollow Net. But even that, like Star Wars Unlimited, is
- 50:47Speaker 6: much further along, but they don't have a officially supported client,
- 50:53Speaker 6: and I don't have anyone in my you know, vicinity
- 50:56Speaker 6: that wants to play it with, so I'm reliant on
- 50:59Speaker 6: digital clients. I mean so yeah, altered it's just already
- 51:03Speaker 6: ahead of the game and even even magic like there.
- 51:08Speaker 6: When I play Commander, I play on tabletop simulator with
- 51:11Speaker 6: friends and yeah, I can access any card, but it
- 51:16Speaker 6: there's some work.
- 51:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I hate tabletop TTS sucks.
- 51:24Speaker 2: I can't get on this bandwagon as a sometimes TTS developer.
- 51:28Speaker 3: But.
- 51:30Speaker 5: Listen, it's great scripting environment. Yes, there are some really
- 51:36Speaker 5: great things that are scripted a lot in TTS, but
- 51:41Speaker 5: if it's not that way, I will not play it.
- 51:45Speaker 5: So if you're talking about the stuff that is like superscripted,
- 51:48Speaker 5: those are fine.
- 51:50Speaker 6: The way that BGA works is just exactly what I
- 51:53Speaker 6: need head empty to care about anything but trying to win.
- 51:58Speaker 5: It's even getting better with the pass triggers like that
- 52:01Speaker 5: this week. Today I didn't have to pass on something
- 52:05Speaker 5: that was I had to click the pass on it,
- 52:09Speaker 5: like three or four days ago, something about like tiny
- 52:11Speaker 5: gin you had to like click to confirm even that
- 52:15Speaker 5: there was no choice. He had to go there because
- 52:17Speaker 5: he was boosted. Today it was automatic. It didn't ask
- 52:20Speaker 5: me anymore. So like they are working on it constantly.
- 52:23Speaker 7: I was gonna say, there's one thing, there is one
- 52:25Speaker 7: trigger that I that has come up that I don't like.
- 52:28Speaker 7: And I think Dexter actually mentioned this the other day too.
- 52:32Speaker 7: When it it doesn't exactly tell you, it tells you
- 52:36Speaker 7: what trigger you're doing, But if you have multiple the
- 52:39Speaker 7: same cards or multiple the same effects, it's very difficult
- 52:42Speaker 7: to tell which one's going to effect. In Dexter's case,
- 52:45Speaker 7: I think it was two toths and he didn't know
- 52:47Speaker 7: if it the single recruit or the double recruit. One
- 52:49Speaker 7: was triggered at that moment. It tells you after the fact,
- 52:53Speaker 7: I believe, But as far as like that first like
- 52:55Speaker 7: when you go to select it, it just says trigger
- 52:58Speaker 7: this ability, you know, thoth and then it's like, oh yeah,
- 53:01Speaker 7: and then you know it's the second tooth or whatever.
- 53:03Speaker 2: But that listen at these bureaucrack complainers, Oh, it's so
- 53:09Speaker 2: hard to tell where my infinite free soldiers are gonna
- 53:12Speaker 2: come from.
- 53:13Speaker 5: And yeah, it probably didn't even matter.
- 53:17Speaker 7: It didn't matter in his in yes, in Dexter's case,
- 53:20Speaker 7: he was like, oh, I guess I'm gonna put them
- 53:21Speaker 7: both in the same side anyways.
- 53:22Speaker 5: But exactly, it doesn't matter. You're just it was like,
- 53:27Speaker 5: I want to be winning by a little.
- 53:29Speaker 2: Bit more.
- 53:33Speaker 7: One other thing. It's that's all good. I'll take the hate.
- 53:36Speaker 7: You play. You gotta play the top deck, you know,
- 53:38Speaker 7: you gotta be you gotta be up there. Even in
- 53:40Speaker 7: the board game Arena Headlines Altered is like the third
- 53:44Speaker 7: fourth story down, like a huge thing about it, so
- 53:47Speaker 7: like they're covering it big two, like putting it out there.
- 53:51Speaker 7: It's one of the top top new games. So it's
- 53:54Speaker 7: it's great, like a lot of a lot of exposure.
- 53:57Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't I don't know who they are in
- 54:00Speaker 6: Connection Tech Quenox exactly, but I joined the alpha testers
- 54:06Speaker 6: for Altered and there's a separate discord and there's a
- 54:10Speaker 6: couple of them in there that are Altered players and
- 54:14Speaker 6: also working directly on the BGA instance, and they speak
- 54:20Speaker 6: French and English, so there's like both sides there. So
- 54:24Speaker 6: it's it's been super awesome to kind of see how
- 54:27Speaker 6: well they've been working. As we kept saying, and uh
- 54:32Speaker 6: for for you, Zach, I got the top decks from
- 54:38Speaker 6: the season zero for Altered Texas, so Parson, second, waru
- 54:43Speaker 6: waru uh, and then third was Siggi and then fourth
- 54:50Speaker 6: was actually a Tasia, so nice.
- 54:54Speaker 2: And that's that's pretty like we're we're learning to expect
- 54:57Speaker 2: to see those names, right, Like.
- 55:00Speaker 5: I'm gonna get Crowbar there happen, Let's go, Crowbar are
- 55:04Speaker 5: pretty good.
- 55:05Speaker 2: I Am not going to be surprised at all when
- 55:06Speaker 2: we start seeing that name up in the headlines as well.
- 55:09Speaker 2: It's not ready kind of happening, all.
- 55:12Speaker 5: Right, I think what's next, Wookie, who you got next?
- 55:15Speaker 4: We are up to event news with Cole.
- 55:20Speaker 6: Amazing. All right, so in future instances of this segment,
- 55:27Speaker 6: I'll probably get a little better on what's going around
- 55:30Speaker 6: specifically in Texas. For now, I will say, seek out
- 55:34Speaker 6: the Altered Texas Discord. You're in the main Altered discord.
- 55:39Speaker 6: It's in the community links. I believe if you google
- 55:43Speaker 6: Altered Texas Discord you'll find it pretty easily. We have
- 55:48Speaker 6: all of the local events pinned in each of the metros.
- 55:52Speaker 2: Well, if you're.
- 55:53Speaker 6: Only looking for online events or things coming up, there's
- 55:58Speaker 6: a good amount. This Sunday, we're doing no ortis Sunday,
- 56:05Speaker 6: which I I don't I don't expect this to be
- 56:12Speaker 6: out by then. So what I'll say about that is
- 56:15Speaker 6: I like doing weird things. I think it's fun, yeah,
- 56:20Speaker 6: to do things that aren't the standard. So I am
- 56:23Speaker 6: looking to do more of these things. This Sunday is
- 56:28Speaker 6: obviously no ortis allowed. I think it's really cool because
- 56:32Speaker 6: it's gonna show what other decks are like against each other.
- 56:37Speaker 6: Right now, there's not enough people to play in it,
- 56:41Speaker 6: so hopefully more people sign up, but you know, in
- 56:44Speaker 6: the future, maybe it'll be like only the least used
- 56:51Speaker 6: heroes allowed or something I.
- 56:53Speaker 2: Think all outsidy all the time. Yep.
- 56:57Speaker 6: And I mean if we go back to the A
- 56:59Speaker 6: Wall tournament, someone broke down the stats further. It was Kisslanka.
- 57:06Speaker 6: In the A Wall tournament. There were a Arak, Lindwey,
- 57:11Speaker 6: and Sierra decks. They were all below four wins. But hey,
- 57:17Speaker 6: maybe a tournament using decks like that would be fun.
- 57:22Speaker 6: We talked a little bit about big tournaments coming up
- 57:26Speaker 6: and how that will shake up the meta or solidify
- 57:32Speaker 6: it really, which is what I think will happen. A
- 57:35Speaker 6: Wall is back next Wednesday, which proves to be a
- 57:39Speaker 6: big you know, maybe one hundred people this next week.
- 57:43Speaker 6: The Gamers Guild tournament in Phoenix is coming up. Do
- 57:47Speaker 6: you guys know how many players are in that. It
- 57:50Speaker 6: seems like they've been promoting it a lot, so I'm
- 57:52Speaker 6: assuming it's not to their cap yet, you know, yeah,
- 58:00Speaker 6: one point, it is the cap, but I wasn't sure
- 58:02Speaker 6: if there was anywhere we could see how many they
- 58:05Speaker 6: have signed up. It's an in person tournament. I know
- 58:08Speaker 6: the Organized Play manager is going to be there, and
- 58:12Speaker 6: the community manager for Altered are going to be there,
- 58:15Speaker 6: and they have some great prizes. I don't think we
- 58:18Speaker 6: know of anyone in Texas that is going because it's
- 58:21Speaker 6: in Phoenix.
- 58:22Speaker 5: Right, No, not going, but bit of a that's not
- 58:27Speaker 5: that's not drivable.
- 58:30Speaker 6: Yep. So hopefully some good stats will come out about that.
- 58:33Speaker 6: But the big, big one coming up, and I apologize
- 58:38Speaker 6: if I get any details wrong because it's all in French,
- 58:42Speaker 6: is Ludo Trotter, which from what I can see, has
- 58:46Speaker 6: one thousand and ten people signed up right now. Reports
- 58:51Speaker 6: are saying ten twenty four, but that is a huge
- 58:54Speaker 6: amount of people, and the developers are even looking at
- 58:58Speaker 6: that and seeing what happens they consider maybe different things
- 59:03Speaker 6: to change in the future.
- 59:05Speaker 2: I can't wait to see the results from that tournament,
- 59:07Speaker 2: and I'm hoping we'll be able to like see some
- 59:10Speaker 2: live footage of play, because not only is it a
- 59:12Speaker 2: huge tournament, right, it's also the French meta, which, because
- 59:17Speaker 2: of like that's where the game was was developed and
- 59:20Speaker 2: creative in a lot of ways, they're sort of a
- 59:23Speaker 2: little bit ahead of us, like they've had a little
- 59:24Speaker 2: bit more time to play with these cards and to
- 59:27Speaker 2: sort of get familiar with it than we have, so
- 59:30Speaker 2: we may see some some really exciting things out of there. Now.
- 59:34Speaker 2: My personal stance I still think we're going to see
- 59:35Speaker 2: ortists like just all over.
- 59:38Speaker 3: It, but.
- 59:41Speaker 2: I think there will play things that come out of it.
- 59:44Speaker 6: Yeah, if you play early in the day on BGA,
- 59:48Speaker 6: you're going up against French players, and nine times out
- 59:52Speaker 6: of ten it's going to be artists.
- 59:54Speaker 5: A bunch of bureaucrats.
- 59:56Speaker 9: Yeah, so I I highly expect the top ten to
- 1:00:01Speaker 9: all be artists, but maybe maybe a ran and or
- 1:00:04Speaker 9: kid will sneak in, maybe something else you never have one.
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: Thousand, twenty four. I think the top thirty two will
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: be war not just artists.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: I don't know see the French.
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: The French have some like very good players and some
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: very good tage of players like they I've seen them, not.
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: Just the numbers thing. It's like a massive for me
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: in my head, it's just like there, yes, microbar deck
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: can beat WARU, but it's like real close to like
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: forty nine percent or something like that.
- 1:00:42Speaker 6: Now, when is it that I think there's a prize
- 1:00:45Speaker 6: and I think it's a bad prize like.
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: Prize you're gonna see four hundred people show up with
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: the Warrow decks. It's it's gonna be a thing.
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: I want to touch on this tournament.
- 1:00:56Speaker 8: Just a little bit, because you bring it up and
- 1:00:58Speaker 8: we're getting into the details a little bit of it.
- 1:01:01Speaker 8: So I'm not sure how many people were watching the
- 1:01:05Speaker 8: anime during sen Spiel earlier, but this French tournament and
- 1:01:12Speaker 8: the GGAZ tournament that's coming up. Eric, who is the CMO,
- 1:01:18Speaker 8: he's already stated that the design team is already working
- 1:01:21Speaker 8: on the artist situation specifically yeah, and specifically Robin Hood.
- 1:01:32Speaker 8: They've already said that Robin Hood will get hit in
- 1:01:35Speaker 8: some way that he doesn't know what the design team
- 1:01:39Speaker 8: is gonna do yet, but they're waiting to see how
- 1:01:42Speaker 8: the tournament shakes out, and they will hit Robin Hood
- 1:01:45Speaker 8: in some way, whether it's removing the Bereaucrat label or not.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: We will see what happens.
- 1:01:50Speaker 8: But this will have kind of made waves after the
- 1:01:53Speaker 8: next two weeks.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: To be honest, m yep, yep.
- 1:01:57Speaker 6: I was listening to it, and I think we're I
- 1:02:01Speaker 6: think next I mean, I don't know if you know
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: I have the authority to tease, but I think next
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: episode we're gonna kind of dive more into the whole
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: Robin Hood situation.
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, We're gonna go visit the Hood. I go
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: there all right, So our next thing is so we
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: talked about who we are briefly. We're all playing this game.
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: I know wookie Is have been total.
- 1:02:23Speaker 6: See you're forgetting one thing though.
- 1:02:26Speaker 3: Well what am I?
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: Oh? Yes, yes, I forgot I saved the best for last. Yes, yes,
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: go like, I'm really excited about this.
- 1:02:32Speaker 6: Go ahead, I'll split it with you since you know
- 1:02:35Speaker 6: you're you're a big part of it as well. So
- 1:02:38Speaker 6: the season zero was a test. I don't know me personally.
- 1:02:42Speaker 6: I like to test things. I like to work out,
- 1:02:44Speaker 6: you know, what is right what is wrong ahead of time.
- 1:02:48Speaker 6: Now Season one is starting this Tuesday. Putting a date
- 1:02:53Speaker 6: is probably better for recorded things. The eighth of October.
- 1:02:58Speaker 6: It'll be great because if you're hearing it late, it's
- 1:03:00Speaker 6: a jump in, jump out kind of seasonal thing. Texas
- 1:03:05Speaker 6: Altered Showdown. We are going to have four weeks of
- 1:03:09Speaker 6: single eliminations every Tuesday where you earn points, and we're
- 1:03:16Speaker 6: gonna have prizes as well. I kept a lot of
- 1:03:19Speaker 6: the prizing a little more vague for the moment because
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: I want to make sure we get everything collected and
- 1:03:28Speaker 6: then we reveal like, hey, this is the full price,
- 1:03:31Speaker 6: but we are absolutely giving away some unique foilers and
- 1:03:35Speaker 6: some other things, and I will let big Z talk
- 1:03:37Speaker 6: about what he foresees with that and kind of his
- 1:03:41Speaker 6: perspective of how we're setting it up.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: That's cool, that's the first time hering. But let me know,
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: I've got a few unique coolers I wouldn't mind pitching in.
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: If you guys are just building the.
- 1:03:50Speaker 5: Pot, awesome. Yeah so we but first of all, I
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: don't know. So it is online best of one. We're
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: capping it. I think sixty four people just to keep
- 1:03:59Speaker 5: the it's this is Tuesday at six pm Central for
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: the States folks. It's not limit. People from Europe and
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: beyond can come, but it'll be like one am for you.
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: So I know some of you are playing all through
- 1:04:12Speaker 5: that time because I run into you NBJA still so. Yeah.
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: So there will be four weeks where we do that
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: single lim tournament. The prizing during the four weeks, first
- 1:04:24Speaker 5: place will get a unique foiler and entry into the
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: final turning, which will be week five, and second place
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: will get a rare foiler and they will also be
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: entered in the tourney. No matter what, you get two
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: points for playing in any of the single elimination tournaments,
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: and then you get one additional point per win. After
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: four weeks, we will only have eight people from the
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: top two from the four weeks, and then the remaining
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: eight people for our invite only through winning these points
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: or winning the events will be come from the highest
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: point accrueres from the four weeks, and you're seeding in
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: the tournament will be based on the total number of
- 1:05:04Speaker 5: points you've learned. So even if you did get an
- 1:05:07Speaker 5: invite the first week, you could still come back and
- 1:05:09Speaker 5: play some more of the next week just to get
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: a higher seed to potentially play against a lower pointed
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: player when you get seeded into the tournament on week five.
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: And we are still working on what we're gonna look
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: like as far as the champion tournament right now, I
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: have put some Kickstarter edition booster packs into the pot
- 1:05:31Speaker 5: and we're gonna talk and some others if anyone the
- 1:05:35Speaker 5: prizing pot could be potentially more. There is no entry
- 1:05:39Speaker 5: fee for any of these events for this go round.
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: We could potentially look at that in the future if
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: we wanted to make some more interesting prizing down the road,
- 1:05:48Speaker 5: but this one's all coming out of pocket and just
- 1:05:52Speaker 5: giving something the community, something to do and we found
- 1:05:54Speaker 5: the single elimination was super fast. I love how the
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: pace of it was fun talking to people in the chat.
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: People that are eliminated were sticking around his talk and
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: you know, spectate the people that eliminated them, that kind
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: of thing. Yes, yeah, it was fun. It was. It
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: reminded me of the keyboard days, right, like back when
- 1:06:12Speaker 5: I was really big in the events, and there's just
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: a lot of communal you know, jabs have funds that
- 1:06:17Speaker 5: had talk about decks, talk about how badly they got
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: beat or rooting against for four people.
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: It was.
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: It was good times. And we're gon try to capture
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: that weekly on Tuesdays.
- 1:06:28Speaker 6: Yes, and we are all over the age of thirty
- 1:06:30Speaker 6: at least, I believe.
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: So all of you except for one that is not
- 1:06:35Speaker 5: over here.
- 1:06:36Speaker 6: Yeah, so all of you young kids that are like, oh,
- 1:06:38Speaker 6: I want a best of three on a Tuesday night
- 1:06:40Speaker 6: at six pm. No, you know what, No, we're too old.
- 1:06:44Speaker 5: Like that's why kids. We also brought up a wall
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: right like, like I think I saw a really good
- 1:06:51Speaker 5: view of both of those events. A walls on Wednesdays.
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: It's Swiss. It goes six full rounds. It's not best
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: of three, but it is a much full, longer event
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: that took roughly three hours our events on Tuesdays, but
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: the whole thing was done in under two yep.
- 1:07:08Speaker 6: And that that is one thing I wanted to note,
- 1:07:10Speaker 6: so shout out to Simon. I think what I will
- 1:07:14Speaker 6: say to people if they come to me and they're like, oh,
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: I want best of three, I'll point them to a
- 1:07:19Speaker 6: one and like here you go. So and having those
- 1:07:23Speaker 6: two options and also technically not competing with each other,
- 1:07:27Speaker 6: I think gives a lot of options.
- 1:07:30Speaker 5: There's a lot of questions.
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: You're going to be this is all online, correct, yep.
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: So you don't have to be from Texas to join
- 1:07:36Speaker 4: these No, it is central time that I'm assuming, Yeah,
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: six pm Central time materia.
- 1:07:43Speaker 5: We might actually need to consider something with the name
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: of our serve.
- 1:07:46Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: I think we're going to get a lot of people
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: in it.
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: Even if we're going to grow very rapidly.
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: Even if you're not central or even if you're not
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: from Texas, you can join these events. Yes, yes, So
- 1:07:58Speaker 4: make sure I will put something in our discord for this.
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: Probably it probably is already there, to be honest with you,
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: down in our altered section. Believe or not, we do
- 1:08:09Speaker 4: have an altered section.
- 1:08:11Speaker 5: No, I think I made it.
- 1:08:12Speaker 4: You probably did. There's a lot of stuff down there
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: going on right now, and then just real quick because
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: I know a lot of people are going to have
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: questions still like again, this is going up, but mainly
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: a key Forge related show. What is your like? Okay,
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: so not for the tournaments, but like, let's say I
- 1:08:30Speaker 4: want to get into this game, and I'm like, man,
- 1:08:32Speaker 4: I want to get competitive. The biggest thing for a
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: person is always always always going to be what is
- 1:08:37Speaker 4: the entry barrier? What does that dollar amount look like
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: to me?
- 1:08:41Speaker 5: Actually? Pretty low? Like if I wanted to build a
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: metadeck comparable too, because I'm the constructor, right like, let me.
- 1:08:48Speaker 4: Let me let me ask the winner.
- 1:08:49Speaker 7: Hey Zach, no you can go? You can no? No, no, no,
- 1:08:55Speaker 7: it's fine, it's fine. It's fine. So one thing that
- 1:08:59Speaker 7: I don't like to do is construct decks. I like
- 1:09:02Speaker 7: to play games, which is why I like keyboards so much.
- 1:09:05Speaker 7: So I will defer to Big Z who helped construct
- 1:09:08Speaker 7: the deck.
- 1:09:09Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, how much did Zach's deck cost?
- 1:09:13Speaker 5: Well, honestly, like we do have the cards that are
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: the best cards in it. As far as the uniques
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: that are running, we opened to those, so just in
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: the natural process of opening. But like, like, let's say
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: I didn't open any packs and I literally just wanted
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: to buy Zach's deck I or something really really close
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: to it. The comments in the decks are basically free,
- 1:09:37Speaker 5: Like there's no comment in this game that even costs
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: a dollar. You get a ton of them.
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: Yeah, let's let's we can assign a price to it, though, right,
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: because we know that, like if you buy no packs,
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: you only want to buy your comments.
- 1:09:50Speaker 5: So let'say, let's say a quarter you need twenty one
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: of them? Yes, five bucks, five five bucks, five dollars
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: and twenty percents you have five dollars. Yeah, So the
- 1:09:59Speaker 5: the rares in this game are roughly two to three
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: dollars a piece, except Robinhood does cost more, even at
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: the rare slot. So let's say you need to need
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: twelve rares times three, that's thirty six, that's forty one.
- 1:10:13Speaker 5: You could probably well, but robin oh yes, oh yeah aa,
- 1:10:18Speaker 5: Robinhood as a rare, you could probably find it for ten.
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: But let's say I wanted to buy this damn deck
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: right now, you've offered somebody fifteen, you'll get you'll get three.
- 1:10:28Speaker 5: That's forty five. Then you have three three uniques. Now,
- 1:10:33Speaker 5: before I go on to what uniques can cost anywhere
- 1:10:35Speaker 5: from the cheapest general unique you can buy is fifteen
- 1:10:39Speaker 5: all the way up to six hundred. But if even
- 1:10:41Speaker 5: if I just bought three decent artist uniques because they're
- 1:10:46Speaker 5: ortists at fifteen each, that gives me only forty five
- 1:10:50Speaker 5: more dollars. That's one hundred and thirty one dollars. I
- 1:10:52Speaker 5: can I promise you I can win in an event
- 1:10:55Speaker 5: with a deck that costs one hundred and thirty one
- 1:10:57Speaker 5: dollars right now.
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: So basically the short and skinny and I just want
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: to put this out there for a lot of people
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: under two hundred dollars.
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: Your competitive Garrett like, ye yes, yes, yeah, yes.
- 1:11:09Speaker 6: The other thing about altered and the huge digital aspect
- 1:11:13Speaker 6: and you kind of touched on it is commons really
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: are kind of free because if you join a good
- 1:11:19Speaker 6: community and you're like, hey, I need this where we're
- 1:11:22Speaker 6: going to help you out, yeah, and all we do
- 1:11:25Speaker 6: is we say, what's your account unaltered? Okay, there you go.
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: Commons common as tokens in fab or Land or Manna
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: in Magic, yeah.
- 1:11:36Speaker 6: And you don't even have to live near the person
- 1:11:38Speaker 6: to get.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: And just like in any of those games, they're also
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: the most common part of your deck, right like they're
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: They're a huge portion of the cards that you need
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: to put together to to to play anything. And I've
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: got a whole row of them that sits in my box, unscanned,
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: just ready to give to people that beat them.
- 1:11:56Speaker 7: So we yep, yeah, yeah, same m hm.
- 1:11:59Speaker 8: So going off the entry the barrier of entry or
- 1:12:02Speaker 8: a point of entry a little bit here on cost,
- 1:12:05Speaker 8: I do want to touch on what Eric the CMO
- 1:12:08Speaker 8: set today as well during the ame. With the second
- 1:12:10Speaker 8: set coming out on January thirty first, the set will
- 1:12:14Speaker 8: be roughly fifty five percent smaller than the current core set. Now,
- 1:12:21Speaker 8: the breakdown roughly is in one display, which is one box,
- 1:12:26Speaker 8: you'll get an entire playset of commons already and they
- 1:12:31Speaker 8: have it really yeah, it's all there. And then to
- 1:12:35Speaker 8: get an entire collection, a full place set of everything
- 1:12:39Speaker 8: obviously minus uniques, but a full play set of everything
- 1:12:42Speaker 8: roughly three to four displays. That is a tremendously low
- 1:12:45Speaker 8: amount compared to Magic to one piece compared to Lorcana,
- 1:12:50Speaker 8: compared to SWU.
- 1:12:53Speaker 5: This is totally the lower you're saying is you only
- 1:12:55Speaker 5: need to buy three displays to have three of every rare, like, well, yes, yeah, yeah,
- 1:13:00Speaker 5: that's fair.
- 1:13:01Speaker 7: To be fair, there are fewer cards in the second
- 1:13:04Speaker 7: set that there were in this set. He also mentioned
- 1:13:06Speaker 7: to get a full set of all the rares, you
- 1:13:09Speaker 7: would need to open about eight to nine displays of
- 1:13:11Speaker 7: this first set.
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: Of the first set. Yes, and so continuously working forward now.
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: To the next set. I just want to put this in.
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: The first set is massive.
- 1:13:20Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, yeah. There are tons of characters, there are
- 1:13:24Speaker 5: tons of stories. There are lots of lines of construction
- 1:13:28Speaker 5: to develop for each faction.
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: And the math that we're throwing out there right now
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: in terms of like putting together a full place set,
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: like needed to buy nine displays, right, that's if you
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: need a full play set of every every faction. If
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: you on faction like, you've got plenty to trade people.
- 1:13:47Speaker 4: I'm poking around on the on the website, just kind
- 1:13:50Speaker 4: of looking at stuff. There are thirty pages and each
- 1:13:53Speaker 4: page has about thirty six cards, so it's a lot
- 1:13:57Speaker 4: you can do. The math, it's a bunch.
- 1:13:59Speaker 10: Well, yeah, all right, but thank you for Corabi breaking
- 1:14:05Speaker 10: down the Texas Tuesdays events. I did want to go
- 1:14:09Speaker 10: through each of us just to talk about with fact
- 1:14:10Speaker 10: we play in card before Wookie closes us out, just
- 1:14:15Speaker 10: to kind of give our audience to what we're playing
- 1:14:18Speaker 10: on now.
- 1:14:18Speaker 5: This is is definitely going to change as we go along. Zach,
- 1:14:24Speaker 5: go ahead, what is your favorite faction and favorite card
- 1:14:27Speaker 5: right now?
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: Oh?
- 1:14:28Speaker 7: Boy? Favorite faction? I don't know, there's so many artists.
- 1:14:33Speaker 7: Is the one that I would always go to one.
- 1:14:36Speaker 7: It was the one that I had looked at and
- 1:14:37Speaker 7: you know, thematically, I really enjoyed it as far as
- 1:14:41Speaker 7: like the law abiding order all that stuff. It just
- 1:14:44Speaker 7: fits right into my personality.
- 1:14:45Speaker 5: I can attest to that. When we kickstarted this game,
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: he was saying, Ortis looked fun before having ever played
- 1:14:52Speaker 5: anything this is not lies.
- 1:14:54Speaker 7: And the first the first start deck that I played
- 1:14:57Speaker 7: was Sigismar and it just smashes. So yeah, As far
- 1:15:03Speaker 7: as my favorite card, I it's it's kind of silly. Well, no,
- 1:15:07Speaker 7: I have two. I have the obvious one. It's Robinhood
- 1:15:10Speaker 7: right like, it's too powerful, it's too oppressive making your
- 1:15:14Speaker 7: cards or your characters whichever one it is makes them
- 1:15:17Speaker 7: cost more. We pull then amazing, amazing unique one, the
- 1:15:22Speaker 7: not the amazing to draw three cards every you know dust,
- 1:15:25Speaker 7: but it's still pretty good. I would have to say
- 1:15:27Speaker 7: that my second favorite card, though it's really close to
- 1:15:29Speaker 7: Robin Hood, is the Waroo Hero himself. Like it the
- 1:15:32Speaker 7: ability just to you know, like it's it's super strong
- 1:15:35Speaker 7: as far as it's cleeping your units for you know,
- 1:15:39Speaker 7: just the the stats don't count, but the effects do.
- 1:15:43Speaker 7: Like that is so big, so so so big, so
- 1:15:47Speaker 7: those are That's my favorite card, favorite fection.
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: So you're a monster, then I really am.
- 1:15:51Speaker 7: I really am.
- 1:15:52Speaker 5: And yeah, it's like a dream demon. He's like Freddy
- 1:15:56Speaker 5: Krueger Ogre talk to us.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: Okay, Uh, I am a little bit closer to Z
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: in terms of I'm a bit of a nomad. Like
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: the way that I interact with these games is I
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: like to roam around. I like to build and play
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: in every faction and everything else. Currently, I've decided that
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: with this season of BGA, I'm sticking in Axiom, which
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: is the faction that's you know, mostly about like engineering
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: and technology, and it has a lot of very cool
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: like we've got We've got Doctor Frankenstein in our faction,
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: and that's that's cool to me. The the deck specifically,
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: I'm playing a lot of Traced because I think he's
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: the coolest character that that we got with with the
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: first three, and I think, honestly, I'm gonna put actually,
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm gonna copy Zach. I'm gonna say he's
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: my favorite hero, right and that got two cards YEA
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: cheated and my favorite card in the faction to surprise
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: absolutely no one that plays the game is the Bravos Haven,
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: which is a card that we stole from Bravos, but
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: it turns on every single card in our faction and
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: it's I think we saw some numbers recently where the
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: Bravos Haven in Axiom is literally the most played card
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: across all games that include an Axiom deck on the
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: other platform, which is exaltered. The creator was talking about it.
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: That's hilarious to me, but it also makes perfect sense.
- 1:17:32Speaker 5: It's also the most expensive rare in the game. It
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: outpaces Robinhood as far as the value.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: Is that true?
- 1:17:39Speaker 5: Yeah, Like everywhere, I look like it's sold out on
- 1:17:41Speaker 5: the one place right now. You can buy stuff online
- 1:17:45Speaker 5: and then in the boards, the one Discord place that
- 1:17:49Speaker 5: is an absolute nightmare. I hate that thing. You can
- 1:17:54Speaker 5: buy Robin around ten to twelve. The havens are like fifteen.
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: Holy Has are up there. The havens are expensive.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: Well that's why I.
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: Was trying to figure out if you gave it to
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: Dexter or not. I was like, this thing you're trying
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: to give back to me.
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: That I well I didn't first of all, Like I
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: just I know you didn't. I traded on the cheap
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: for my Yeah, well it's a great card.
- 1:18:20Speaker 5: Yeah, it turns out, well, that whole deck doesn't work
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: without it, Like that is the deck.
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: You could almost argue that whole faction at the moment,
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: but well.
- 1:18:28Speaker 5: They are the worst without it. Ah, it's true. You
- 1:18:35Speaker 5: got no argument. Oh uh yeah, you joined this material.
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: Yeah, so I joined a little late.
- 1:18:44Speaker 8: I am one of the Discord mods in the official Discord.
- 1:18:49Speaker 8: I got picked up, and you know, I interviewed with
- 1:18:52Speaker 8: Loki and ran through the whole thing. I got a
- 1:18:54Speaker 8: little blurb on the main page now, but I kind
- 1:18:59Speaker 8: of went into it a little bit. It on there
- 1:19:01Speaker 8: during my profile. But I'm running Lyra. It's a fun deck.
- 1:19:05Speaker 8: It's different it's it's it's not your typical deck that
- 1:19:10Speaker 8: you would see in any other game. Really, RNG isn't
- 1:19:13Speaker 8: my my most favorite thing because r and Jesus can
- 1:19:16Speaker 8: be good to you and can be really bad, you know.
- 1:19:20Speaker 8: And so but at the end of the day, like
- 1:19:22Speaker 8: I said, if you have your permanent out there, your landmark,
- 1:19:26Speaker 8: you're pretty much.
- 1:19:27Speaker 7: Good to go.
- 1:19:28Speaker 8: My favorite card right now is actually the I pulled
- 1:19:31Speaker 8: a unique Hijakina, but I also run the rare version
- 1:19:35Speaker 8: because it's a a must deal with target. It's eternal,
- 1:19:40Speaker 8: so it stays on the board, it has it's a
- 1:19:43Speaker 8: big stat stick.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: But I read that card.
- 1:19:47Speaker 8: Yeah, and in a Lyra deck, I've gotten plus twenty
- 1:19:50Speaker 8: four plus thirty on it. It's and it's by itself
- 1:19:53Speaker 8: on one side. It doesn't matter how many orders tokens
- 1:19:56Speaker 8: you put out there, I am going to get forty points,
- 1:20:00Speaker 8: you know. And so at the end of the day,
- 1:20:01Speaker 8: that card is my wing con in my deck. I
- 1:20:05Speaker 8: did pull a unique one. It's pretty insane because it's eternal.
- 1:20:08Speaker 8: And then as long as I have one boost on it,
- 1:20:10Speaker 8: I roll a dice and that's how many boosts I
- 1:20:12Speaker 8: get every single turn.
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: Yeah, which again he already mentioned that he's playing them.
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: Well, it's also the rare in whatever it's called.
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: Martin Gale, Yeah, Martindale, you can. You can get it
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: on the cheap if you don't see it permanent.
- 1:20:37Speaker 7: Yep.
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: It turns out being able to roll plus six on
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: a thing.
- 1:20:41Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, that's kind of why I like it.
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: That's my wing con. I gotta go with that one.
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: And it's a dragon.
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a freaking green dragon.
- 1:20:54Speaker 5: I'm next here. I uh, my favorite faction is it?
- 1:20:59Speaker 5: Actually right? I like Bravos a lot. I do like
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: where they were going with two out of the three heroes.
- 1:21:06Speaker 5: I like a lot of the design of the cards
- 1:21:09Speaker 5: it plays. It's it is kind of rough in the
- 1:21:12Speaker 5: current meta right now, but I do like the way
- 1:21:15Speaker 5: it is structured. I hope to see some more support
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: for it moving forward into the next sets. I just
- 1:21:22Speaker 5: really think that it's a lot of space there for
- 1:21:24Speaker 5: them to work with. And my favorite card in it
- 1:21:28Speaker 5: it's actually like not like the greatest, not the wind
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: con for the set or anything. I love tiny Gin.
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: I like all I think all three versions of tiny
- 1:21:38Speaker 5: Gin are playable, Like you can play the common in
- 1:21:41Speaker 5: different you can play the common in the Basira deck,
- 1:21:45Speaker 5: you can play the rare plays really well into Kojo
- 1:21:48Speaker 5: or Buddha whatever. The one with the dog and the coaches.
- 1:21:53Speaker 7: Yeah, it's a dog, the booze hero, it's a cheetah.
- 1:21:58Speaker 7: It's fired cheetah.
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: It plays well. It plays well with the fire dog.
- 1:22:05Speaker 5: And if you flip over to the other side, uh,
- 1:22:08Speaker 5: it plays where the really good with the muna girl
- 1:22:12Speaker 5: that gets the out of faction, that boosts them when
- 1:22:14Speaker 5: you play them. Asia, Yes, Tasia, tiny Gin is amazing,
- 1:22:20Speaker 5: like that is the best case scenario of tiny Gin.
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: I see, the more things change, the more they stay
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: the same.
- 1:22:26Speaker 5: Huh yeah. Yeah.
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: So for those of you who don't know, mainly most
- 1:22:30Speaker 4: people in this chat, there was always a inside joke
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: of these cards have art.
- 1:22:36Speaker 5: Yeah, I haven't actually talked about that year. A lot
- 1:22:39Speaker 5: of these people love the art. I rarely look at the.
- 1:22:43Speaker 7: There's there's art on these cards. No, it's just text. Man.
- 1:22:50Speaker 5: They do actually have the good art when I look
- 1:22:52Speaker 5: at it. We never talked to it on this The
- 1:22:55Speaker 5: biggest thing about the art is there different in the
- 1:22:58Speaker 5: iterations of them, like when they go from common to rare.
- 1:23:03Speaker 5: Too unique. There are differences of the same card, which
- 1:23:08Speaker 5: is actually kind of interesting. They like some of them
- 1:23:10Speaker 5: tell a story. Kodama like literally tells a story of
- 1:23:14Speaker 5: something being born. Weird, but it's fun to see. If
- 1:23:18Speaker 5: you see it. Now a bunch of people learn to
- 1:23:19Speaker 5: go look at this if they've not noticed it.
- 1:23:21Speaker 7: But anyway, Yeah, I'm looking at tiny Gin right now,
- 1:23:25Speaker 7: like and going from the common to the rare, he
- 1:23:27Speaker 7: gains like a cape. The crystal ball in his hand
- 1:23:31Speaker 7: is getting bigger, the flames and his hair are more pronounced, like.
- 1:23:34Speaker 5: When you go from Atlas, like the common one, is
- 1:23:37Speaker 5: it seasoned, and then if you see the rare one,
- 1:23:40Speaker 5: the season changed and like the river's gone or something.
- 1:23:43Speaker 5: It's it's interesting what they did with you. But yes,
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: that is my favorite card. The card is not like phenomenal,
- 1:23:50Speaker 5: it's not gonna win you games or anything. I just
- 1:23:52Speaker 5: love the way you play tiny Gin. I like playing
- 1:23:55Speaker 5: it from like the early game hand because it's cheap,
- 1:23:57Speaker 5: getting the boost to flip the manu later getting that
- 1:24:00Speaker 5: it's a fun. I think it is a very well
- 1:24:02Speaker 5: designed card. Cole.
- 1:24:06Speaker 6: Yeah, so now the person that's going to talk about
- 1:24:10Speaker 6: themes and art, and that's what I play around. Ye,
- 1:24:15Speaker 6: So first and foremost always always Muna. If people recognize
- 1:24:21Speaker 6: my full name Courabi, it's a vegetable plants our life.
- 1:24:28Speaker 6: So my favorite hero is actually written an orchid, and
- 1:24:32Speaker 6: I think they are a lot of fun to play,
- 1:24:37Speaker 6: and I will always have Muna being my favorite faction.
- 1:24:42Speaker 6: But I am playing a deck right now I'm calling
- 1:24:46Speaker 6: demon mode which is Bessira Bravos, and I'm trying to
- 1:24:52Speaker 6: get it to work. So my favorite card right now
- 1:24:56Speaker 6: is actually Bravos Blade Dancer.
- 1:24:59Speaker 5: Yep.
- 1:24:59Speaker 6: Fun part specifically the rare Yeah, if you look at
- 1:25:03Speaker 6: the rare versus the comment the rare is just the
- 1:25:07Speaker 6: art is so beautiful, the like ethereal hot swords and everything,
- 1:25:15Speaker 6: it's it's great. It's a it's a really good looking card.
- 1:25:19Speaker 6: And looking at it now, I think I just realized
- 1:25:21Speaker 6: I don't have any any rare Blade Dancers, so I
- 1:25:26Speaker 6: really need those as well, because not only is the
- 1:25:29Speaker 6: art amazing, the card text is amazing as well.
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: Yes, so that's another one. That's another one that tells
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: a cool story as well, like the Blade Dancer in
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: uh in the common like hasn't started a power upper
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: swords yet, and then in the Rare powers them up
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: and then if you get a unique Blade Dancer, which
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: reminds me to show you mine so that I can
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: make you jealous.
- 1:25:50Speaker 5: Cool.
- 1:25:51Speaker 6: Yeah, I've seen it, she.
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: I think slays the creature that is stalking her in
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: the background of of the other two cards mentioned.
- 1:26:00Speaker 7: Yeah, that's yeah, that's nice.
- 1:26:02Speaker 5: Well, and it's fully lit on flames.
- 1:26:04Speaker 6: Yep, it's it's some weird like shadow, Snake, demon or something.
- 1:26:09Speaker 6: And someone in the I can't remember if it was
- 1:26:12Speaker 6: our discord or the main Yeah, they were like, I
- 1:26:16Speaker 6: think this is the only card that has blatant violence,
- 1:26:19Speaker 6: and I was like, you might be right, Uh, Krakens Wrath,
- 1:26:25Speaker 6: are there people getting hurt?
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: And look Simon on those tentacles when you get when
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: you get a.
- 1:26:31Speaker 6: Chance, all right, doing it right now? But yeah, Muona forever.
- 1:26:36Speaker 6: But Demon mode is coming for you. And uh, I
- 1:26:40Speaker 6: like playing weird stuff and themes and my wind record
- 1:26:45Speaker 6: just about everywhere will prove.
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: That, all right. Uh Wookie, Yeah, I know you've only
- 1:26:57Speaker 5: towed Depp. Any of these actions sound feeling to you.
- 1:27:04Speaker 4: First. When I bought into the game, I bought Navenka
- 1:27:08Speaker 4: and Blotch Right, I'm pretty sure that's it. It rolls dice,
- 1:27:14Speaker 4: it just does. I had fun with it when I
- 1:27:16Speaker 4: played Domino with it, and it's something that interests me
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: now looking at some of the cards, Vet and Crowbar
- 1:27:25Speaker 4: are definitely something I want to look into once and
- 1:27:31Speaker 4: once I get more accustomed to the game. I mean,
- 1:27:33Speaker 4: you guys are running online stuff, maybe I pop in.
- 1:27:36Speaker 4: I don't have much of a collection at the current
- 1:27:38Speaker 4: time because stores in Wisconsin don't really have it.
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: Luckily, you have some friends that have that have cards
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: ready to.
- 1:27:47Speaker 7: Write to give you.
- 1:27:48Speaker 4: So you guys have in a very unique situation, like
- 1:27:52Speaker 4: very much. And I mean I'm I am on their
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: like store locator and it looks like only one store
- 1:28:01Speaker 4: anywhere near any anywhere near me is touching this game
- 1:28:05Speaker 4: right now.
- 1:28:07Speaker 2: Yeah, so they we should probably because I'm sure some
- 1:28:11Speaker 2: of your listeners won't have won't have like gone out
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: and listened to the AMA today. That is something they
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: specifically like acknowledged and we're vocal about, is that they
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: realize that the adoption in other parts of the world
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: is crazy, like a lot of a lot of the
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: European countries that have gotten involved are like it's it's selling,
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: like Hotcakes. It's it's doing very.
- 1:28:32Speaker 6: Well out sold out in franstributor level in Italy. I
- 1:28:38Speaker 6: think it's sold out at stores in France, Spain and Italy.
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: On the American front, it's it's been a little bit slower,
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: but they did own up to that and they said,
- 1:28:48Speaker 2: you know that they're right now they're looking at what
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: sort of push they can make to sort of improve
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: the marketing here to get more people involved into where
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: both in terms of like you know what can be
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: done online with with the tools that we've already been
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: talking about this episode, and what they can do to
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: make an impact in stores and and at the the
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: LGS level, so that because the game is fantastic, you
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: just have to get it into and then it wins
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: them over without you doing any additional work.
- 1:29:17Speaker 6: I have an idea if anyone from Equinox or as
- 1:29:21Speaker 6: my Day is listening, hire me as the American community manager.
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: They don't, they don't listen to this. They don't listen
- 1:29:26Speaker 4: to this.
- 1:29:30Speaker 5: Directly he hates us.
- 1:29:33Speaker 4: Well maybe not.
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: Real quick.
- 1:29:38Speaker 8: Uh So today actually during the A M A the Eric,
- 1:29:43Speaker 8: he did say that they will be sectioning off pieces
- 1:29:47Speaker 8: of the US as in like west coast, east coast,
- 1:29:49Speaker 8: you know, midwest, whatever, and they're going to start looking
- 1:29:52Speaker 8: into having point people for Parisian to help expand and
- 1:29:57Speaker 8: let them know what their region is looking for and
- 1:30:00Speaker 8: needing as far as expansion is concerned. So they are
- 1:30:04Speaker 8: looking into, you know, coal into tapping the community or
- 1:30:09Speaker 8: basically being a liaison for them for that region, So
- 1:30:13Speaker 8: it could happen.
- 1:30:15Speaker 6: My friend, Yeah, I missed, I missed that part. Uh,
- 1:30:18Speaker 6: I'm gonna see you at pack some plugged lookie and uh,
- 1:30:22Speaker 6: we're we're gonna have words again.
- 1:30:24Speaker 7: So I mean you did start off by asking which
- 1:30:28Speaker 7: character drinks whole milk on there, ask me anything? And uh,
- 1:30:31Speaker 7: yeah that that didn't seem to.
- 1:30:33Speaker 6: I guess that's not a very like, uh a very
- 1:30:37Speaker 6: mean base based thing in in France, because it did
- 1:30:42Speaker 6: not They did not choke, but it was a very
- 1:30:46Speaker 6: fun conversation in the main discord.
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: So because what's what's more funny about that is I'm
- 1:30:52Speaker 4: gonna assume in France milk is just milk, like I'm
- 1:30:56Speaker 4: gonna gal multiple varieties. In the US, we like to
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: convolute things, so they're just like, what do you mean,
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: what does this whole milk you speak of.
- 1:31:09Speaker 6: I am pretty sure unless I heard Loki incorrectly. He said, oh,
- 1:31:16Speaker 6: that's Courabi. We should have left him at gen Con
- 1:31:19Speaker 6: so they know who I am.
- 1:31:23Speaker 4: Listen, you're fitting right here. You're fitting in real well
- 1:31:27Speaker 4: on the AC staff. Because FFG hates US, which is
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: part of Asthma Day. I don't know if FFG has
- 1:31:34Speaker 4: a lot to do with this or if it's mainly
- 1:31:37Speaker 4: Asthma Day. I don't know who's taking control of it
- 1:31:39Speaker 4: in the North America region because that's a that's a
- 1:31:42Speaker 4: whole Asthma Day debacle. FFG hates us a lot, like
- 1:31:50Speaker 4: a lot, a lot.
- 1:31:51Speaker 5: I probably don't even remember us.
- 1:31:53Speaker 4: We're still well, you know what staff has really rolled over. Yeah,
- 1:31:58Speaker 4: most of the FFG's were starting thresh walking with starting
- 1:32:01Speaker 4: fresh altered corner.
- 1:32:03Speaker 5: We're altering our and going and how long.
- 1:32:08Speaker 4: Will it be before we screw this up?
- 1:32:10Speaker 5: Is the main question to be decided to TBD.
- 1:32:15Speaker 4: Well, we'll find it out later.
- 1:32:18Speaker 7: It is very interesting about like you were talking about
- 1:32:19Speaker 7: the regions for the US, even if you just look
- 1:32:21Speaker 7: on the altered website just for the stores or the events,
- 1:32:25Speaker 7: it is and they even said this, I think, and
- 1:32:27Speaker 7: they asked me, Am, like, it's heavily or more invested
- 1:32:30Speaker 7: in like the east coast, and you can see like
- 1:32:33Speaker 7: from Texas eastward straight up, like that's where sixty seventy
- 1:32:38Speaker 7: percent of the stores are popping up. You have a
- 1:32:40Speaker 7: few out in California, San Francisco, you have some down
- 1:32:43Speaker 7: in the LA and San Diego, then you have a
- 1:32:45Speaker 7: few up in Washington. Other than that, it's very barren
- 1:32:47Speaker 7: to the west.
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I think most most, most most of the movement
- 1:32:52Speaker 2: that we've seen so far, even here in Texas, it's
- 1:32:54Speaker 2: been kind of grassroots, Like it started off with Materiel
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: and Z and then the Cole kind of kind of
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: came on board and started really pushing and connecting people
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: as well. But it was just people in the community
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: like bugging stores and saying, hey, we want to play
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: this game.
- 1:33:10Speaker 5: But at the time, yeah, so much.
- 1:33:13Speaker 4: Like anything else. And I'm just looking at my map.
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: There are a total of four stores in all of
- 1:33:19Speaker 4: Wisconsin that are doing anything with this game at the
- 1:33:22Speaker 4: current time. Two of them are in Madison, I am
- 1:33:25Speaker 4: going to assume, and that's about an hour and a
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: half away from me. And if I am right, oh,
- 1:33:32Speaker 4: I am incorrect. I thought it was there are seven.
- 1:33:35Speaker 7: There are seven stores in Wisconsin, Wookie huh. If you
- 1:33:39Speaker 7: go to the stores and city events, there are seven stores.
- 1:33:42Speaker 4: I want to see.
- 1:33:43Speaker 7: Fo I see seven?
- 1:33:46Speaker 4: All right, you're gonna happen to tell me where they are.
- 1:33:48Speaker 4: There's one, there's one that's close to me, and then
- 1:33:52Speaker 4: there's one that's again about an hour away. So depending
- 1:33:56Speaker 4: on what days they do things, you know, well, we'll
- 1:34:00Speaker 4: see and then Zach can teach me how to read
- 1:34:03Speaker 4: a map here in about ten minutes.
- 1:34:05Speaker 6: So with Wyoming, Wyoming, South Dakota, like, some of these
- 1:34:10Speaker 6: states have absolutely nothing.
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: So yeah, well they also have no people in them.
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: Yeah, good point. Good point.
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: I mean there's like, well, I've got a brother in Wyoming,
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: thank you very Much's one of what three li there?
- 1:34:26Speaker 6: Like, I won't make any states hate me during episode one.
- 1:34:33Speaker 6: I'll save that for three.
- 1:34:34Speaker 4: Or it's all right, I have a whole country that
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: hates me. So we're you know, it's all right, We're
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: we're fine here. But but that being said, I think
- 1:34:40Speaker 4: this is where we're gonna cut it off here and
- 1:34:42Speaker 4: we will see y'all next week.
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: Yes, okay, let's get it.
- 1:34:48Speaker 11: No mission to spice Betty, she bet but she totally nice.
- 1:34:52Speaker 11: White at the stool from alect for sure. But he
- 1:34:55Speaker 11: left with yeah we live and the time just saying
- 1:34:58Speaker 11: little man. But then and a wooman as Memphis to
- 1:35:01Speaker 11: buy and the guy who the cat in the scene
- 1:35:03Speaker 11: and you say like grand noble loop of machine and
- 1:35:04Speaker 11: like go on, you guy coming over the scene and Serene,
- 1:35:06Speaker 11: come most O the coop over the bfing the bin
- 1:35:09Speaker 11: your coast.
- 1:35:10Speaker 6: I got five for my name and got no stuff.
- 1:35:11Speaker 11: Comes to me just to see how my shoulder.
- 1:35:13Speaker 2: Yeah, they said that I couldn't do it.
