- 0:02Yeah, lace them up another way. Another easy double.
- 0:14Yeah. From the track to the.
- 0:16Rodeo we talk that talk splits on the watch, but we still take
- 0:18the Mick. Dean in Perth with the long run
- 0:20legs going, breaks the fire when the session gets thick.
- 0:23Ryan in the mix with the numbers and plans from everything, the
- 0:25medals. Yeah, we break it all down hard
- 0:27graft Monday left about a Sunday still.
- 0:31Hello and welcome back to the easy double podcast episode 57.
- 0:36I'm joined by my 2 Co hosts, one just up the road in Perth.
- 0:40Dean Menzies, how are you doing? Good mate, going well, how are
- 0:44you? Not bad, just let's flick the
- 0:48icon on. It's going to be stuffy in here,
- 0:50but hopefully we'll settle down. I'm not sure.
- 0:53How's the temperature in the office over there, Owen?
- 0:57It's cold enough. The last was a Saturday, Sunday.
- 1:02It felt like summer, like I was nearly breaking out.
- 1:04He's always saying that. But now today it's really
- 1:09overcast. But again, like summer is
- 1:11coming. You can feel it.
- 1:13It's funny, I said to Dean the other day.
- 1:15I was like, oh, look at this, my group chat with my mates at
- 1:18home, they were like they screenshot at the weather
- 1:21forecast and for like Saturday coming, it was forecast highs of
- 1:2612 and sunny. And they were like buzzing.
- 1:28And I was saying today and like, look, this is genuinely what
- 1:31they're working with over there. And he's like, oh, maybe I'll
- 1:34have to go a bit later with the the weather chat because might
- 1:38be starting to piss a few people off.
- 1:41But yeah, still toasty over here, isn't it?
- 1:45Yeah, I've got a jumper on them. Feels a bit cool, but I won't I
- 1:50won't say too much. So call call 21.
- 1:57Nice. Well, what's been going on
- 1:58anyway? Dean, did you get a chance to
- 2:01listen to potentially, what do you reckon our biggest interview
- 2:06in terms of name? Yes.
- 2:10I would have thought so. In terms of high profile person,
- 2:14in terms of degree of fanboy, fangirl, it would have to be
- 2:20right up there, right? Well, I guess when you consider
- 2:25like form and what's happened in the past, like relevance to
- 2:29what's happening right now, he probably takes it doesn't.
- 2:32He's probably one of the most spoken about and admirable
- 2:35people going right now, whether that's like on the track or all
- 2:40the way up through the marathon. If you said to any kind of
- 2:43running fan, name me top five favorite runners, eventually
- 2:48he's going to be in a high percentage of people's, isn't
- 2:52he? I think so.
- 2:54And I think Owen was echoing that in the chat by basically
- 2:58saying, like, as far as you know, there's certain names by
- 3:02profile names in distance running, but those those names
- 3:06are hard to a bit harder to associate with because they're a
- 3:09lot of them are East African. So or even like Jimmy Gressier,
- 3:13he doesn't really speak too much English either.
- 3:16So whereas he's quite open and transparent with his training
- 3:21methods and his approach and he he speaks great English and he's
- 3:25got a bit of quite a bit of personality to him.
- 3:28So in terms of people's people that we want to follow their
- 3:31story and likeable people, that's He's hard to go past,
- 3:36isn't he? What about how down to earth he
- 3:38seems? Just seems like genuinely just
- 3:41normal and nice and very self aware of how talented he is and
- 3:46how much of a hard worker he is, but also very in touch with just
- 3:49being able to have a chat with people.
- 3:52Yeah. But then also just very, very
- 3:56deliberate. He sounds very.
- 3:59Yeah, seems like he's not had I very deliberate.
- 4:05But then at the same time, like did you hear him talk to refer
- 4:09to himself as? I still sometimes just think of
- 4:11myself as the guy that's always injured.
- 4:17I had no idea he had had so many injuries, like demented bone
- 4:20stress injuries he just listed off.
- 4:22I was like, Oh my God. And it's crazy now that he's
- 4:24find something, he's found something that works so well for
- 4:28him. Yeah, well, even he's been
- 4:30around for so long. That's like his World Athletics
- 4:32with the canyons. When you go on the World
- 4:34Athletics, you see like 2021 or whatever what he's as literally
- 4:372010. You can see his history and how
- 4:40he's progressed. It's it's pretty cool, yeah.
- 4:44Like 16 years, you sort of you're talking to him now.
- 4:47But yeah, he's been putting in work for a long time.
- 4:50And I wonder if perhaps a lot of the speed work that he was doing
- 4:54though has really set himself up.
- 4:56So when he's gone to this aerobic stuff like he just
- 5:00because doesn't he move smooth, quite smooth at some of these
- 5:04fairly fast paces? Like how about his was it 10 by
- 5:071 K LT2? 243 or whatever, he said.
- 5:14What the hell? It's funny.
- 5:16Could you imagine? No.
- 5:21Just know what's what's the 62nd lap for that 50?
- 5:28No, no, 60 like 6060 fives 65 seconds right 2 1/2 laps yeah is
- 5:43230 + 10 two 4242.5. And the impressive thing is that
- 5:52the lactate measuring, he's all doing it under controllers and
- 5:55he's not. A lot of people could probably
- 5:56do it balls to the wall, but to do it under control?
- 6:00Yeah, that just shows that he's got his his Physiology like so
- 6:05high and he did talk about that. You remember when the guys on
- 6:09the Coffee Club spoke to him and he spoke about how much he
- 6:14progressed? Remember he would talk about his
- 6:15LT1 training and where it started to where it got to,
- 6:20which is pretty cool. It's funny, the part what I
- 6:27never even got to speak to Owen about this really.
- 6:30I, it was scheduled for like mid afternoon our time.
- 6:34So I'd wrapped up my work day earlier, went in very early to
- 6:38make sure that I could leave in time for it.
- 6:40And I'd got home like 15 minutes or so before the chat.
- 6:44But then I didn't take a key to work with me that day, so I was
- 6:48outside. I was like oh shit this
- 6:50interview starts in 15 minutes I can't get into the house and I
- 6:55was trying to think like what I could do.
- 6:57I was thinking about going to like the nearest coffee shop or
- 7:00something and logging on and I didn't want to text Owen and
- 7:04panic him because then it would have just been dropping it on
- 7:07him last minute. Like are you OK to do this by
- 7:10yourself? So I actually ran back to work
- 7:12and done it in one of the meeting rooms after leaving work
- 7:17for the day so and literally logged on just in time and Owen
- 7:22was just sat there with him having a chat.
- 7:26As what's the weather like over there, just casually?
- 7:30Hungry and then when when he left, like as soon as the
- 7:39interview finished, like for context, it puts you into like
- 7:44the the chat room, but it's just not recording obviously.
- 7:47So you can maybe hang around, speak or like just leave,
- 7:51whatever. And he was just straight off
- 7:54literally for a run as he almost left the screen was, you know,
- 7:57when he was closed up ready to go look like he was just
- 8:00breaking, breaking into his first K. 341st K.
- 8:06Yeah. And he was saying off screen as
- 8:08well that he normally gets up like 6 every morning.
- 8:12So gets up 6 every morning, does the first run so you can do a
- 8:15second run early enough as well. Because in the evenings and the
- 8:19indoor tracks in Sweden are crazy busy, so he tries to get
- 8:22that done before the chaos. Does he rest in the middle of
- 8:28the day? Is that like how does he in
- 8:30terms of the recovery? Will he have a nap?
- 8:32He said sure, he only started running full time after the
- 8:37Olympics in 2024 hours which I could not believe like the level
- 8:40he was at while studying and working part time and.
- 8:45Yeah. Like you can sort of see why he
- 8:47was getting injured in a little way, like the stress he's
- 8:50putting under his body, like outside of running as well.
- 8:53So yeah, I presume he's got his stuff dialed in.
- 8:55Nutrition, like you're trying at such a high level.
- 8:58Like I say, he's just knocking out 200K weeks, which is why he
- 9:01says he'll transition to the marathon will be pretty
- 9:03seamless, which I think we're all eagerly awaiting.
- 9:07And because he's like, Graham Fisher hasn't mastered the half.
- 9:11Alan Green has got a 58 minute half to his name as well.
- 9:14So yeah, his marathon debut will be eagerly awaited.
- 9:19What did you think of his comment about the half marathon
- 9:22record, the European record? What could he?
- 9:27I think he's, I thought he said he is like, because he was
- 9:31talking about like if he knew he was close, I think for the 10K
- 9:35record and he was saying like he, he had an idea.
- 9:38But then he said for the I thought he said for the half
- 9:40marathon record. It wasn't necessarily if I would
- 9:44like, if I had a great day, if I had a good day, I would break
- 9:48it. If I had a great day, I'd smash
- 9:49it. Yeah, that's so good.
- 9:51Isn't it? He just knew.
- 9:54I think he actually said if I had a bad day I would break it.
- 10:00Oh, that's crazy. You, you, you can relate
- 10:05yourself to the feeling of like knowing you're going to run a
- 10:08PB, but to then change the context and apply it to a
- 10:11European record is quite bizarre.
- 10:16Yeah, they call that he's got it.
- 10:18So it's, it's it's nice to hear his approach being so dulled
- 10:22with a lot of it. You know, like he's, he put so
- 10:25much thought into all this training and he, he must know so
- 10:28well how it converts to the distances because had he run a
- 10:32half prior to that? Don't even know if he had, but
- 10:36he seemed to know so well where his body was at.
- 10:41Well, I was thinking about how I can get access to like a Sweden
- 10:44share or a Sweden singlet on the back of that.
- 10:49But yeah, we really enjoyed it. And if you did too, it'd be
- 10:52great if you could just leave us a review or a rating on Spotify,
- 10:55Apple, wherever you are and follow along so you do not miss
- 10:59the next one because you know, we'll be we'll be chasing the
- 11:03next interview for you. So this episode is largely going
- 11:06to be focused around the World Athletics Indoor Championships,
- 11:10which happened over the weekend in what I imagine was a very
- 11:15cold Poland. And we've got some news to
- 11:18cover, including Clayton Young has changed allegiances from his
- 11:24previous brand partner ASICS training weeks because Dean and
- 11:28I are back up and running and Owen is building again.
- 11:32YouTube Diaries and Double Trouble for sure, as well as
- 11:35some previews of upcoming races. This weekend there's two well,
- 11:39there's a big half marathon in Germany with a few big names and
- 11:42a big 10,000 meters over in the USA.
- 11:46So we'll start with the World Indoor Championships because
- 11:51this is what we've been building towards really for the past.
- 11:54I mean, pretty much since Tokyo, there's a bit of cross country
- 11:56and October, November, December, and then everything else has
- 12:00been geared towards this. With the indoor season, people
- 12:03have been trying to qualify and make teams and so almost ended
- 12:07up just kind of sneaking up on us.
- 12:09All of a sudden it's here. All of a sudden we're in March.
- 12:15I didn't even know it was on on the Friday.
- 12:18It was only until you sent the message into the group chat.
- 12:20I thought it was just a Saturday, Sunday type of thing.
- 12:24Yeah, I know it was a little bit low key.
- 12:28Yeah, freedoms around the Friday.
- 12:32Yeah. So I guess there was three main
- 12:34events what we were concerned with, the 800 meters, 1500
- 12:38meters and 3000 meters. And I think that in order of how
- 12:42it went, the 3000 meters came first in terms of the final.
- 12:45At least they were on the Friday evening session, I think.
- 12:51So for the men's race, that's probably the most deep, elite
- 12:58stacked field. Like almost most anticipation
- 13:01was around this race because you had Olympic champion Cole
- 13:06Hawker, Josh Kerr, Nagus and then a couple of Owens
- 13:10countrymen. Andrew Kosgrim was in there as
- 13:12well as Nick Griggs, so obviously we know what's been
- 13:16going on. Carl Hocker's been wiping the
- 13:18floor clean with whoever stabbed in front of him.
- 13:21Josh Kerr had a disappointing World Championships where he
- 13:25pulled off with an injury, made his comeback in Melrose and just
- 13:29got done by Hocker there. So it's kind of set up lovely to
- 13:34see. Would Hocker continue his
- 13:36dominance or would care continue his upwards trajectory and go
- 13:40one better? And then yet the wild card of
- 13:44Nagus missed out on Tokyo as well, so there would have been
- 13:46fire in his belly to put things right.
- 13:49But I mean, I'll go through the results and then we can talk
- 13:53about what you make of it. So Josh care 1, he is your world
- 13:57indoor champion in 735.56 with Cole Hocker a close 2nd. 735.7
- 14:05and the Frenchman, the wild card, the what do you call them?
- 14:09Dean a Ruffie, Smokey. Yeah, Ruffy, Smokey.
- 14:13Yeah, all good, good ones. Jan Strobe, Frenchman 735.71 So
- 14:20any just losing out on the silver medal, let's call Hawker.
- 14:24I've got some stats which we can fall back on, but what are your
- 14:27boys opinions and thoughts of the race of the results?
- 14:32You call him a roughy but he ran 729 basically solo in an indoor
- 14:38ME in France a couple of weeks ago.
- 14:41And his range, like he is the European 10K record holder as
- 14:44well on the road and his range is ridiculous.
- 14:47But I just thought cool Hawker left himself way too much to do.
- 14:51Like he got boxed in that Josh Kerr around the perfect race.
- 14:55He's so good when he emptied tank when he had them did the
- 14:58tank and Hawker was lucky enough to get silver.
- 15:02But yeah, what a race salvage I am going into.
- 15:09It if you were to pick someone, I struggled to go past Hawker in
- 15:15terms of like I couldn't if I was to pick anyone a particular
- 15:19like didn't Hawker has won everything in the last X many
- 15:22months, has the like an absolutely savage kick.
- 15:26I just couldn't seem and it's not like Kerr and Hawker haven't
- 15:30raced, so there's no way I could have tipped Kerr over Hawker.
- 15:35So to then see the upset happen, I was still I was pretty
- 15:39shocked. I think, like you said, Oh, and
- 15:41I think he he left too much work to do in that last 200.
- 15:45There was a move didn't care with about 300 to go make a bit
- 15:48of a move and hocker just chose not to go with.
- 15:52But the Frenchman I think did did, did follow and that's
- 15:57really what set up his race. But yeah, I I knew he had the
- 16:02the world lead going into the race, the Frenchman, but I
- 16:05didn't anticipate if it was not super fast that he would have
- 16:09the wheels to to kick with those guys.
- 16:12But he actually had the the fastest foot last 400 meters.
- 16:16I think of the race. So pretty in incredible
- 16:20performance by him. Makes sense given we know didn't
- 16:25he go head to head with Armstrong and just pip Armgren?
- 16:28So you know his who's a medallist in a fairly tactical
- 16:3410,000 meters last year. So the top three all made sense.
- 16:39I guess looking back I just there's no way I would have
- 16:41picked that order. I think it's in the past I've
- 16:46been, I'm going to say critical, but I haven't been able to
- 16:49properly take to Josh care. Don't know.
- 16:52I've never like I've never disliked him, but I've never
- 16:55just been sure of him either. But on with this result.
- 17:01I was actually happy for him. I still don't really know why,
- 17:06but I guess just like not necessarily the underdog story,
- 17:09but because Hocker has almost established himself as the best
- 17:14and was just winning, winning, winning.
- 17:16It's good as much for the sport as it is for fans to see a
- 17:20change of that. And it was also funny that Josh
- 17:24Kerr, he's not one to like, kind of bite his tongue or be too
- 17:28modest or too humble about anything.
- 17:30And he, he whipped out coal hawkers.
- 17:32So at Melrose, I don't know if you see him, when Hawker crossed
- 17:36the line, he done like this go to sleep little pose.
- 17:39And Josh Kerr got it back out this time.
- 17:43And he said, what did he say? Oh, yeah.
- 17:47Like, he flexed on me or something.
- 17:49And that was like fire in the belly and seeing Carl Hawker got
- 17:54asked about it in his post race interview.
- 17:57And you can see he's like still so fired up, but like angry and
- 18:03sad at the same time. Like he looks like he's almost
- 18:06about to cry, start crying in this interview because he you
- 18:09can tell he's a little bit salty.
- 18:11And he's like, yeah, I don't mind it because I gave him one.
- 18:13But like, you know, get your own celebration.
- 18:19But yeah, he didn't didn't look too happy.
- 18:22But I think, yeah, it just kind of resets the narrative a little
- 18:25bit because it was all all the momentum was going with Hoka.
- 18:29Like, how can he be beaten? World champs next year, Home
- 18:32Olympics the year after. Hoka, Hoka, Hoka.
- 18:35And was it the brojo? So let's run chat.
- 18:39Do you remember when they had the argument with who's the?
- 18:43Who's the other Co host? Oh, John from Goal.
- 18:45Yeah, Cult. And they basically, cause didn't
- 18:49Jonathan Galt write a piece about these guys being having
- 18:53fairly similar resumes and they basically tore him to pieces
- 18:58saying no way, Hawk is the man. And and so how good was it to
- 19:04then to see like Kirk get one back And they and they had to,
- 19:09they sort of had to eat a bit of humble pie.
- 19:10But did you hear their take on it?
- 19:12Did you hear their their recap? Because they're taller than it
- 19:16was a hocker. No, but they, what they said was
- 19:20that maybe Hawker's not quite a cherry ripe, you know, given he
- 19:26was given, they, they given he got dusted when he tried to back
- 19:31up for the 1500 metres at the US trials.
- 19:34Maybe he's not fully fit. Therefore, if he's fully fit,
- 19:37Kerr doesn't stand a chance. That would that would just it
- 19:41sounded like a bit of one eyed defence.
- 19:43I wasn't a fan of it. Which is funny because I know
- 19:46last year leading up to the, I remember leading up to the USA
- 19:50is like the qualifiers for Tokyo Hawker.
- 19:53The way he builds a season, he he like races into it and builds
- 19:56fitness throughout. So he in the past, he hasn't
- 19:59always won every race. He stood on the start line of
- 20:03and that was the narrative for them then like defending him,
- 20:06like, oh, he's fit when it matters.
- 20:08If he's, if he's on the start line in the championships, then
- 20:11he's he's going to be like competitive and stuff.
- 20:13Whereas now it's it's been used the other way around to defend.
- 20:17Anyone mil Rose he ran an American record for the 2K like
- 20:22he was plenty fit. He just someone beat him.
- 20:27What else do we have here? Oh yeah, he was.
- 20:29He's criticized as well for his, I don't know about this one.
- 20:32It's hard lack of tactics like getting stuck on the rail and
- 20:35getting boxed in because I think there's been a few times maybe
- 20:39where he's got out of trouble or got lucky.
- 20:44You lost trying their own. Yep.
- 20:48But he's there's been a couple of times where he's he's rode
- 20:53the rail and it's like opened up for him and that's allowed them
- 20:56to get his results. And like, it's kind of it's OK
- 21:00when things line up for you like that.
- 21:02But in instances like this where he when care made his move,
- 21:08Hawker basically missed it because everyone started coming
- 21:11around the outside didn't. And then he found himself.
- 21:17We've lost him again, but you get the gist of what he's trying
- 21:19to say. I was really gone.
- 21:25My reflection on that because I, yeah, I did hear similar,
- 21:27similar comments and my reflections are like everyone's
- 21:31Physiology is pretty close and it's a high stakes game.
- 21:34And I think he just takes risks and you want to save your kick
- 21:38as late as possible because you know, when you fully kick,
- 21:40you're just getting absolutely flooded with lactate, right?
- 21:43So I think Hawk is just a a wizard at just saving that kick
- 21:46till as late as possible and just going whack and just coming
- 21:49over the top. And he tried to do that this
- 21:52time, but these guys stole the March and they were just strong
- 21:54enough to hold a sustained kick and keep him off, in my opinion.
- 22:00He left too much for himself to do 100%.
- 22:03Yeah. And yeah, my luck is yeah, sorry
- 22:08you go. No, I just want to jump on to
- 22:10Geordie Bien Mesh, but keep on going.
- 22:13Oh no, just yeah. I just think he'd like he's
- 22:16tactically quite good, but he but some of what he's doing is
- 22:20pretty risky and as a result, like it's hard to get it
- 22:24perfectly right. And if your Physiology is so
- 22:26close, you know you're not you're not going to win all
- 22:30those races, which what is what makes them ex exciting and it's
- 22:33what makes indoors so exciting, I think is that it bring it
- 22:37because it makes it tactics more relevant because of the extra
- 22:41banks, you get a little bit more variability with the results.
- 22:45It's good. Yeah, it's tactic from way more
- 22:48into it. It's so hard to pass.
- 22:52But what are you going to say on Jodie Bainish?
- 22:55I was just shocked, like you didn't see him sitting at the
- 22:57back and you're like, all right, he's going to come through the
- 22:59end. But he just never came through
- 23:02and like, I don't know. Yeah.
- 23:05I haven't heard if he's had any niggles or anything like he must
- 23:07have been, because he just was not the races at all.
- 23:10He might got sick, I don't know. Did we touch on our predictions
- 23:14for this race and the results of them?
- 23:19No, I don't think we did. So somehow he must have been
- 23:25drunk or something because he's gone, Josh Kerr, Gold Cole
- 23:29Hawker Silver, Yan Shrub said for the trifecta.
- 23:34Yeah, if if you're at the gallops you would have got, you
- 23:38would have, you would have cleaned up if you put that, put
- 23:43that in order and as a trifecta. And you're good.
- 23:48First race as well. The rest of his meet would have
- 23:50just been free money throwing it away.
- 23:53I wouldn't have walked away with anything based on the rest of
- 23:55his card. And Dean and I backed Talker for
- 24:02the gold with I said Josh Kerr second, the Goose 3rd, and Dean
- 24:08had Negus second and Habs third. Which Habs down there in 11th
- 24:15didn't really feature I guess, but you never know what's going
- 24:20to happen with him. He's a bit of a Mad 1 isn't he?
- 24:24So the women's equivalent, the women's 3000 meters.
- 24:27Again, good field here but perhaps missing some of the
- 24:31African stars who you would usually expect to clean up the
- 24:34medals in that there was no Kippy Aegon or no Chibet given
- 24:39it was a distance race. So now the Abatto Klesi took the
- 24:42gold medal of Italy 857.64. So pretty well.
- 24:46Very slow race. Emily Mackay of the US second
- 24:50silver medal 858.12 and Jessica Hull Australia 3rd 858.18.
- 24:58I was just watching this race back before because I couldn't
- 25:00actually find that over the weekend.
- 25:02The first K this house slow it was 3/15.
- 25:07It was crazy. They're.
- 25:08Falling over each other. Yeah, there's so much pushing
- 25:11going on. And my eyes were largely on Jess
- 25:16to see like kind of how the race played out for her.
- 25:20And she's she seemed to spend so much of it in Lane 2, which
- 25:25isn't that wide, but she was like 3-3 deep all the time.
- 25:30And it was almost like any little surge, she was trying to
- 25:34cover it. And it's easy to watch it back
- 25:37with hindsight knowing that she finished there then like kind of
- 25:40look critically, but I don't know, it looks like she perhaps
- 25:43wasted quite a bit of energy throughout that race.
- 25:48The second K wound up a little to a 301.
- 25:52And then Jess ended up making the first like, decisive move of
- 25:55the race. And she went to the front with
- 25:57300 meters to go, which because it's an indoor track, is 1 1/2
- 26:02laps. And that was basically her, her
- 26:05bed, her move. She played their cards then.
- 26:09And not that she gapped Bassa classy, but like she gapped the
- 26:13rest of the field and strung it out to the point where Bassa
- 26:17Classy was like having to just try and hang on rather than re
- 26:20pass her. But then after a lap of being on
- 26:24the front and pumping and driving, Bassa Classy then
- 26:28passed her back with 100 meters to go.
- 26:30And she also dragged the American girl, Emily McKay, back
- 26:35up with her. And probably quite cleverly for
- 26:39her, she didn't go past Jess with 100 meters to go, but she,
- 26:44like, just sat on the back of her, rode the bend behind her
- 26:48and then used the last straight to just pass her.
- 26:52So that's how the race unfolded, and that's what the results
- 26:55were. What do you make of it?
- 26:59Did you see the? Fall.
- 27:01Yes, there was that the that Halo.
- 27:04Yeah, so she'd have been half it.
- 27:06Well, won the favorites anyway. And she was in front of Jess.
- 27:10And then this Spanish who was a guy.
- 27:12See. Is there a guy?
- 27:13See you there? Yeah.
- 27:14Martha, go. She didn't even fall.
- 27:15Oh, she left this qualified. So.
- 27:18Yeah. So she pushed Jess, just pushed
- 27:21Halo. Halo hit the ground and and
- 27:25yeah, like, fair enough. It was a slow enough pace that
- 27:28she was able to get back on, but you're still wasting so much
- 27:31energy trying to get back on. And and yeah, Nadia about it,
- 27:35Claddy. Like, what can this woman not
- 27:38do? Like her just again, I think
- 27:41she's on. She's never run a half before.
- 27:43So like she's I'm guessing she's going to be so good on the
- 27:47roads. She's just unbeatable.
- 27:49Like when you're out kicking like she's a 10K girl.
- 27:52Like when you're out kicking like Jess Hall, Yeah, you have
- 27:55some set of wheels on you as well.
- 27:58It was tricky right, to work out who you you pick out of Jess
- 28:02Hull and Badakhledi because like you feel like Jess Hull absent
- 28:08Faith Kipya gone and maybe now like a couple of the top GB
- 28:12athletes is the best like short shorter of the middle distance
- 28:17athletes is like that next, next ranked athlete.
- 28:22But then similarly, if you take out, say, Jibet in the and maybe
- 28:27Sega, then, you know, Bataclede is like the the top athlete.
- 28:32So then who do you? So then when you put them
- 28:34together over a distance that's halfway between, you know, it
- 28:38was always going to be like who? Yeah, who do you who do you
- 28:41think? Who do you think's the better
- 28:43one? And I feel like it's a pretty
- 28:44even fight, but I thought maybe going into it, some of Jess
- 28:50Hall's performances weren't as exceptional is where she was
- 28:54leading into Tokyo last year. So maybe that's the only reason
- 28:57why you think Beta Cledy's may be able to get the win.
- 29:03Yes, it's like an equal battle being met in the middle.
- 29:07Like Jess being superior at the shorter stuff, battle classy
- 29:10being superior at the stronger stuff and then they've met over
- 29:133K. It's almost like you'd
- 29:16literally, as you say, you wouldn't have known how it would
- 29:18go. And that's probably amplified by
- 29:20I was trying to look at their times and like prior to this.
- 29:24So Jess had ran 824 for 3K and batter classy 826, which is
- 29:30fairly even. Then obviously Jess has a much
- 29:33faster 1500 and she's never ran proper 5 or 10K to compare to
- 29:39batter classy. And then the only variable which
- 29:43would lead you to believe who would maybe come out on top
- 29:47would be, well, is it a fast race?
- 29:49If it's fast race, then potentially batter classy
- 29:52because of her strength. But if it's a slow race, then
- 29:55you'd expect Jess to come out on top because presumably she can
- 29:59use airspeed to kick home. And it was an incredibly slow
- 30:03race. But yeah, batter classy can do
- 30:06it all. And it's so she probably,
- 30:10obviously she would have wanted to go for gold.
- 30:13I imagine she would have been content with silver.
- 30:16But then maybe to get beat by this American girl.
- 30:20Like she's run 355 / 1500 meters, which is 5 seconds
- 30:25slower than Jess's time and 830 / 3 K, which is 6 seconds slower
- 30:30than Jess's time. So I mean, she's obviously just
- 30:35had potentially the race of her life given that her all the
- 30:38major accolade is a bronze at the world indoors and we know
- 30:42Jess's pedigree is like Olympic and world championship medals.
- 30:47But do you think like if this race was held like last year, I
- 30:51don't think that's all gets being.
- 30:53I just think she's sort of not 100% at the moment.
- 30:57Yeah, agree. And I think if it was a few
- 31:01years ago, like I remember just finishing, it might have been
- 31:05like Olympic world championship finals and indoor finals, that
- 31:09fourth or fifth spot for quite a few times before finally
- 31:12breaking through for a medal. Whereas now she's got a bit of a
- 31:17a bit of a bag of medals. So I feel like she's racing that
- 31:20race to win gold or almost like how she did in Tokyo where she
- 31:23tried to run with Faith Kipiagon and risk losing the silver for
- 31:28the chance of having a crack at the gold.
- 31:31I feel like that was the same strategy.
- 31:32So I feel like if she executed a perfect race for her Physiology
- 31:38on the day, maybe it's silver, but I feel like she wants the
- 31:41chance to go for gold. Whether or not it was silver or
- 31:43bronzes is less relevant. And that's why I know the
- 31:49narrative from within Australia or domestically will be Jess
- 31:54Hall, like track queen, coming home with two medals again.
- 31:58But I'm going to challenge it and say she would have wanted to
- 32:02be coming home with a gold medal and maybe perhaps a little
- 32:06disappointed not to be given that she entered both races and
- 32:11the potential to win gold given the absentees.
- 32:15So that takes us nicely into the 1500.
- 32:17We'll start. We'll go with the women's
- 32:19because Jessel was also in this race.
- 32:21This was her Dublin back, so the 3K it was weird.
- 32:25I think the 1500 Heath or semi was first, then the 3K final and
- 32:29then the 1500 final. So she'd secured their bronze
- 32:33medal going into this 1500 meter final and it was worn by Great
- 32:39Britain's Georgia Hunter Bell in I mean the the way this race
- 32:44played out was bizarre. Georgia Hunter Bell won 358.53
- 32:49in a British record and being the first ever British woman to
- 32:53win a indoor global title, so fair play, she's been trending
- 32:58upwards for a while. Jess Hall second in 359.45 and
- 33:03Nikki Hilts of the USA 3rd 359.68 just nicking the bronze
- 33:09medal off the French girl Agathe Guillemot.
- 33:14So have you seen how this one went and what are your thoughts?
- 33:18I didn't see this one. Yeah, I watched.
- 33:22I watched this race. I in terms of predictions, I
- 33:28thought going into it because Georgia Hunter Bell's been
- 33:31racing is a training partner to Killy Hodgkinson, right?
- 33:36And is sort of split her time between the 8 and 1500 and has
- 33:41been running really well. So I thought she would be the
- 33:45favorite and I think she probably was the favorite.
- 33:50And the the way the race played out was just that basically like
- 33:55didn't Georgia made a a move? Jess or Jess made a bit of a
- 34:00move as well? They're both the most proactive
- 34:02and they looked like the best 2 runners in the race.
- 34:05Georgia, albeit just cleared away in that final straight and
- 34:11Jess held on really well for for before and the third and fourth
- 34:16were quite fast finishing but didn't really feel like they
- 34:19were were in it. It felt like the top two were
- 34:22the best 2 and they ran it like they were the best 2 and
- 34:25finished one and two. It felt to me like it all very
- 34:30much went by the form book and there wasn't it.
- 34:33No one made any tactical errors. Everyone ran, you know, played
- 34:38the cards they had and the result was the result.
- 34:41I don't think anyone could have done much different.
- 34:43I don't was at least my view. Yes so that Halon, the Ethiopian
- 34:48girl, she went way off the front.
- 34:50Didn't she like completely detached herself?
- 34:53It'll it probably wasn't actually that much because it's
- 34:56on that shorter track and you used to having like 100m
- 35:00straight 100 meter bend. You're thinking like she's 100
- 35:04meters in front, but obviously it's half that distance.
- 35:07But yeah, she was way gone. And I think the pack we're
- 35:10actually running a pretty decent clip anyway.
- 35:14And then once it became apparent that this girl had completely
- 35:18detached herself, it was a question of like all who from
- 35:22the pack is going to make the move to try and chase it down
- 35:26and reattach them? And you can tell because no one,
- 35:28they didn't really go for a little while and they all
- 35:32obviously would have been aware. Whoever is going to be on the
- 35:34front doing this work to close the gap is going to be the one
- 35:38who's kinda. Expecting to win?
- 35:42Selling their soul to do the work for everyone.
- 35:46But yet Georgia Hunter Bell was the one who kinda must have
- 35:50said, all right, well, we have a stay here and race for silver or
- 35:55we have a go. And I think she has to go
- 35:57though, because I feel like it's her race to lose, like in terms
- 36:00of form and fitness, she's the most likely to win.
- 36:03So if she lets that gap get too big, it does it.
- 36:07She shouldn't. And so and it was right of Jess
- 36:10to then follow the move rather than initiate the move because
- 36:14it is harder judging the effort closing the gap.
- 36:17So I feel like Jess did everything right.
- 36:20George is happy with the Jess now, is it right?
- 36:22Yeah. Oh, not at all.
- 36:24I don't mind your take. I like I think you're right.
- 36:27I think she I think she'd now would want to be a winner global
- 36:31gold, but I don't think she could have done anything about
- 36:34it. I think there was someone just
- 36:36fitter than her. Like is my view on it.
- 36:39Like I think you're you're right.
- 36:41I mean, there's she probably had more more of a chance in the 3K
- 36:43and the 1500 though, like Georgia Hunter Bell, I felt like
- 36:46was the favorite going in. True to form, she did all the
- 36:52work, close the gap, went round and like, did you she like was
- 36:55sort of streaking away from her in the last 100 metres.
- 36:58So there's I don't think there's much she could have done.
- 37:02No agree, but she did Georgia Hunter Bell gave her the perfect
- 37:07lead out didn't she? Like she had the toe basically.
- 37:11Obviously it's easier said than done.
- 37:13All you have to do is pass her, but like nest of FS Georgia
- 37:19Hunter Bell has won it the hard way.
- 37:21Basically she if you discount that Halon because she was
- 37:24hardly give given Georgia a helping hand by like lead and
- 37:29she's basically from run the whole race and rap won it from
- 37:32the front. Georgia hasn't she which I was
- 37:35the same as you. Like on paper you think, yeah,
- 37:38probably Georgia Hunter Bell, it seems has been in like crazy hot
- 37:43form and like we know Jess's potentially dipped a little bit
- 37:47in the past six months or so. But then on World Athletics they
- 37:51have this feature where you can look at head to heads, which
- 37:54usually is pointless because it only shows like certain
- 37:59distances and whatever. But when people race each other
- 38:02so often, you can maybe get some decent contacts from it.
- 38:07And I was amazed when a scene. So these two since 2024, Georgia
- 38:12and Jess have raced each other head to head in 1500 meters 10
- 38:17times. And prior to these Weld indoors,
- 38:22Jess had worn all of them, all 8 head to head, so 1500 meters and
- 38:28then the two that Georgia Hunter Bell has won where the Heath,
- 38:32which is irrelevant. And then obviously the final.
- 38:37Any of those in the last six months though.
- 38:40Well, all since 2024. I've still got the finger.
- 38:44So I mean, 10 races in two years, there's probably going to
- 38:48be a few right still here. Let's see Georgia Hunter Bell
- 38:53and I mean God knows what that Halem was thinking.
- 39:02She kind of almost pulled it off.
- 39:04But when you do that like so pre classic was the last one No July
- 39:132025. That would make sense.
- 39:16So I feel like Jess was definitely better up until then
- 39:19whereas Georgia Hunter Bell. Didn't she cause the upset in
- 39:22Tokyo? Yeah.
- 39:25Beating Kelly for silver. Yeah.
- 39:29And it was. That felt like a bit of a
- 39:30turning bit of a turning point. But nevertheless, you know
- 39:35yourself, if you've raised, if you've raised the head to head
- 39:40with someone, yeah, like me and you, if you've always beaten me
- 39:45and then all of a sudden I turn up and beat, yeah, you're not
- 39:48going to be going. Oh well, Ryan was doing good
- 39:51time trials so I'll let him have it.
- 39:54Yeah, I wouldn't say it's a turning point for sure.
- 39:59You can't stop bridges. Biting me into it.
- 40:06We can't get them on the start line, so we'll never know.
- 40:09Well, here we go. Anyway, that's where the medals
- 40:14went. We'll see what the mainstream
- 40:17narrative is, but I know what mine is.
- 40:21We're only three day, Pierre, aren't we?
- 40:24Men's 1500 meters. This one was absent a few names
- 40:27because they decided to do the 3K.
- 40:29So again, gold medal, silver medal, bronze medal up for
- 40:32grabs. Very much so.
- 40:34The main man in the field, if you look at form and accolades
- 40:39must be the reigning world outdoor champion Isaac Nadir.
- 40:43So a Spanish guys and the winner, Mariano Garcia 339.6
- 40:48free for his first gold medal in the 1500 meters.
- 40:56Isaac Nadai was second backing up his gold from Tokyo, getting
- 41:00a silver now and the Australian Adam Spencer took his
- 41:03opportunity as he often does and claimed A bronze medal in
- 41:08340.26. And he's, I don't know about
- 41:14it's funny because the narrative with Hocker, he's getting
- 41:16criticized for like hugging the rail and messing his race up and
- 41:20Adam Spencer done the same thing.
- 41:22He was sick with 100 meters to go and he's buddy come away with
- 41:26a bronze medal because of it. So it's just depends how you
- 41:30look goes whether it opens up or not.
- 41:35Yeah, I feel like the margins in these games, in these races are
- 41:38so small and with double the bends, you need to take risk.
- 41:42And I feel like Adam Spencer's run was just a great
- 41:44illustration of how, yeah, like, he he he ran tactically really
- 41:50well in the heats to get himself into position in the final.
- 41:54You know how he always puts himself in a good position, puts
- 41:58himself there, doesn't allow himself to get out, kicked it
- 42:01like by sitting too far back. And then in this one, let the
- 42:05guys let one and two go, sat at the back of the chase group and
- 42:09then just found his run on the inside right at the end.
- 42:12Looked like he was full of running with about what, 150 to
- 42:15go. Just couldn't, but couldn't get
- 42:17out. But still hug, hug, like hug
- 42:19that inside rail. And yeah, it was awesome.
- 42:22Like what a what a great run and you get rewarded for, yeah,
- 42:25taking a bit of risk by not spending all those biggies
- 42:28running, running 1. You also like if this was the
- 42:32UK, the UK wouldn't have sent him because like on paper he's
- 42:36not in like he's not a chance of winning the medal.
- 42:39But This is why you need to send full teams like God only knows
- 42:41Jack Anstey could. They could have got second and
- 42:43third, but you don't know because they send them.
- 42:46Unbelievable. And yeah, and we, I don't know,
- 42:48we'll probably get to this in the women's 800, but like the
- 42:55Hayley Kitching, who we'll talk about like would not be, I don't
- 43:00think she'd be top three. It may would maybe just scrape
- 43:03into the top three in terms of Aussie women's rankings, right.
- 43:07And you can only send two per country.
- 43:09So like if you took this really tough approach to, to these
- 43:14competitions, you would cut your you would gut your team and it
- 43:18would be totally the wrong, the wrong way to do it.
- 43:19Because it's really interesting. I was reflecting on this a
- 43:22little bit with just this performance, with Adam Spencer's
- 43:26performance. And if you took the view of
- 43:28British athletics, which is around medal chances, these
- 43:31world indoor championships don't attract in every event
- 43:36necessarily the same athletes. And all the athletes aren't in
- 43:40necessarily always in the same shape as what they are for a a
- 43:43Summer Olympics. And so you've really got, and
- 43:47the fact that it's a indoor track means that you've got more
- 43:50variants, you've got more, a bit more luck.
- 43:53So when you don't send, you just, you're just diminishing
- 43:56your country's chances of winning medals at it in a
- 43:59championship where they definitely could.
- 44:03Probably when, when you look at like the GBS, like Medal Hall
- 44:07now, you'll see like how many at least they sent and how many
- 44:10medals they got. And it will look, probably look
- 44:12pretty good because I think Katie got gold, you won George
- 44:17Andrew Bell got gold, Josh Kerr got gold, the high jump, the
- 44:19pole vaulter got gold. So probably really well, but you
- 44:22never know how many silver and bronzes they could have got if
- 44:24they actually sent a full team. And what the fuck, like World
- 44:29Athletics sets the state, like is setting this standard,
- 44:32creating these great quotas, hosting this championship?
- 44:35Like, yeah, I don't get it. The whole national, I just don't
- 44:42understand it. I don't know what I'm missing
- 44:44but. Bit of a bit of a love story for
- 44:48this Spanish fella. He did.
- 44:50The guy who won, he finished eighth in Nanjing, like the
- 44:54world indoors last year. And then he was out in the heats
- 44:58in Tokyo, just gone. And now here he is with the gold
- 45:01medal. That's just the cool thing in
- 45:04it. Like so many random things can
- 45:06happen. And we're not, we're not
- 45:09confusing him with the the on, is it?
- 45:14Is it Mario Garcia Roman? Yeah.
- 45:17I hope not it. Could be because.
- 45:23Because this guy, so this guy Mario, is it Mariano Garcia is,
- 45:30is different and he's won, hasn't it?
- 45:33He's he was only the first guy to win a indoor 800m and 1500
- 45:38meter title. So I think he's a formal, he's a
- 45:41world champion, indoor world champion.
- 45:43I think it's two time. No, that's the guy.
- 45:46That's the guy. He's, yeah, the Nanjing 2025 and
- 45:52then Tokyo. He had stinkers and then he's
- 45:54one ear. And then where's he won before
- 45:57he's won, he's won another. He's won the 800, isn't it?
- 45:592022, yeah, he won the 800. There you go, come back from the
- 46:04clouds. Sticking around.
- 46:05Yeah, yeah, on to the women's 800 meters then, like you said.
- 46:13So Keeley Hodgkinson, surprise, surprise, got the win in second
- 46:18fastest time ever. I think they're saying 155.3
- 46:22from Audrey Vero, 156.64 silver and Anderson Wiley of the US,
- 46:28158.36. It's actually just reminded me
- 46:32to call you out on your Nathan Green pick in the men's 1500
- 46:37meters before we move on. Better let's run kool-aid, you
- 46:42reckon? Yeah, I actually just couldn't
- 46:45find a name to get around. Yeah, true.
- 46:47Like. So I just figured I like who I
- 46:52just went. Who won the US trials?
- 46:54I don't even know. Did he win the Usus trials?
- 46:57Yeah, I think so. And so I figured if they out
- 47:00kicked Nagusan Haka, are they a chance to then?
- 47:03And they've probably gone through the NCAA system, no
- 47:06tactics. That was my logic.
- 47:08So it was, I think there was some basis for it, but yeah,
- 47:13thanks. I've got another one in a minute
- 47:17when we get to the men's 800 meters.
- 47:21But yeah, no surprises Keely winning this.
- 47:25Or second, either was there. She moves really nicely.
- 47:30The the top 2 just look too good and we're too good.
- 47:36I didn't get that, could you try again?
- 47:39Who's that? Siri.
- 47:44Yes, I had Keely, Vero and Buffy.
- 47:46She was the other British girl. She went out in the semis, I
- 47:49think. Dean, you had the same.
- 47:52And Owen, you had Keely Guesichu Ghoul Topping.
- 47:58Yeah, very robbed by me, but sure, Keely just caught above
- 48:01the rest. And the fact that like 55
- 48:03minutes later she backs up with a leg in that 4 by 400 and runs
- 48:08A50 point, something like a 50.18 is just she's a machine.
- 48:15She loves lactic and that was the fastest.
- 48:19Wasn't that the fastest? Like she ran a long shot?
- 48:22Yeah, Yeah, by a long shot. So outrageous athlete.
- 48:30She's racking up some serious metal tally now as well.
- 48:34Yeah, too. Good and got the time.
- 48:36She's missing the. Record.
- 48:38She's missing the record. That's it.
- 48:41Maybe not for much longer. So now the men's 800 meters 17
- 48:48year old star boy from the USA, Cooper looking house got
- 48:52redemption from Tokyo. So if we think back to the US
- 48:57trials last year, we were buzzing, other people were
- 49:00buzzing because he ran 142 as a 16 year old, snuck onto the team
- 49:04as an unknown and then didn't live up to that performance in
- 49:10the championships, which is fair enough.
- 49:12He's only a boy. But then here he is, he's back
- 49:15first opportunity to put it right and he's gone and won a
- 49:19global gold medal. I think the youngest American to
- 49:24ever win a medal at a World Championships, world indoors and
- 49:28it's a gold medal. I think he's the youngest ever
- 49:33to win a world indoor championships.
- 49:36He's born in 2008, December 2008.
- 49:40He is like a baby. He has to go back to school now,
- 49:44on Monday, today. Yes.
- 49:46So in December he was 16. He's turned 17.
- 49:49Just December gone. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 49:54And like, you hear the boys hyping them up, piping them up,
- 49:57and you're like, he's hardly this good.
- 49:58And then he just goes and backs it up like fair play from
- 50:03because like it's really hard. I've obviously never been there,
- 50:06but I'd say it's really hard to do on like the world stage.
- 50:09Like put it all together and you could see like the World
- 50:12Championships sort of got him because he'd got knocked out in
- 50:16round one of the heats. And for him to just back it up
- 50:19here now and yeah, what a run. From the front as well, pretty
- 50:24much wasn't it? He controlled it.
- 50:28I think he went with like 300 to go.
- 50:30Umm and yeah, he just held out and I keep back good lads like
- 50:33Peter balls good around Christensen.
- 50:36He's got one of the world's fastest times this year and the
- 50:40Terry is really good as well. Like he didn't beat nobody see
- 50:43back. Really, really good runners as
- 50:45well. And Ball was looking good for a
- 50:48medal throughout the rounds. And even with what, like 50
- 50:51meters to go with something like he, he made his bed, didn't he?
- 50:54And he was looking like he could the snooker bronze, and then at
- 50:58how he does what bloody at how he does and just snuck his way
- 51:02through. Yeah, I think like you guys said
- 51:06it was like it was this like those top four like Peter Bowles
- 51:11running big cracked 143 Watt for the first time right in Perth of
- 51:16all places running that around our track.
- 51:19That's I wouldn't, I don't think is all that fast solo, like just
- 51:27in a random bronze mate. And so then so he's clearly very
- 51:33fit, right. And then a tower.
- 51:36He's like wheels on him are outrageous, aren't they?
- 51:38Like he just hangs back, hangs back and then just goes bang.
- 51:41He's like a slingshot. Yeah.
- 51:43And so it made for a really exciting race.
- 51:46But yeah, that looked in house. I get.
- 51:50I guess thinking about it when you run 142 at 16 and you know,
- 51:55physically you're not yet fully developed or you shouldn't be
- 51:58like you should have years of physical development, six months
- 52:03being six months older than then maybe you do pick up.
- 52:05And so like, whilst Peter Balls running really well, running
- 52:08143, this guy's a 142 guy and he was just too good.
- 52:12He's a big lad as well now, isn't he?
- 52:14I think he's maybe filled out a little bit since last year.
- 52:20It'd be a hard guy to pass. He looks quite wide, broad.
- 52:25But yeah, I was going to ask, how come you didn't go for
- 52:28Robert Johnson's protege here? Did I not put in for gold?
- 52:35I think you had the Belgian, you've got silver medal to be
- 52:37fair, but. I had them the wrong order,
- 52:40didn't I? Maybe they they oversold you on
- 52:43him. I haven't been listening to him,
- 52:46to be honest. The only reason why I went
- 52:48there, I went green. I went green in the 1500s
- 52:52because it was open. And I do back that NCAA system
- 52:56to be producing people that know how to be tactically run good
- 53:01tactical races. So.
- 53:03But I yeah, I legit, I remembered how Cooper ran in the
- 53:09World Champs and thought that when it came time to the big
- 53:13thing that he might not hold his nerve.
- 53:21It's a fair, fair call. Sorry, I've just opened
- 53:24Instagram whilst we're doing this and the post that comes up
- 53:27is run to Japan's like weekly post about his mileage and
- 53:31whatever. He's got his weekly distance 88
- 53:36K and then it also says believe it or not, and about 150 K of
- 53:41cycling we've got him on the bike.
- 53:49It may not be injured mate, it's just everyone's getting on the
- 53:51bike going. This chap would hate the bike.
- 53:57Iron Man day be penned and he said just need to touch up on my
- 54:00swimming. He can probably.
- 54:04It's easier to freestyle rap from the bike than it is
- 54:07running. It sounds like he's training a
- 54:12bit smarter, yeah. Get off the I'd see you in some
- 54:18lycra. Get him over to Perth and we'll
- 54:22take him on a river loof. You're more than welcome, Jake.
- 54:27As is Alex G. He's knocking around somewhere
- 54:29on the Gold Coast, isn't he? Yeah, he is.
- 54:32They all are. Do you see that?
- 54:34Oh God, we have to take it offline, not talk to Owen about
- 54:38it. But that 70.3 that was in
- 54:39Geelong. Yeah.
- 54:42That was a really good race. Half Iron Man on had yeah,
- 54:47Christian Blumenfeld, Hayden Wild and yell against just all
- 54:53the big all the big dogs down under.
- 54:57Well, they're all in Melbourne as well.
- 54:59We'll touch on the Murray company start lists, but there's
- 55:02some stacked races. They're a lot of them are going
- 55:04from Poland to Australia, which is a pretty quick turn around
- 55:09and but yeah, we'll go into that there.
- 55:13Go on, Well, you can take us back somewhere sensible to
- 55:16Ireland. Right.
- 55:18So in Ireland there was a pretty big.
- 55:21We need to give you credit for your predictions.
- 55:24Then you've got the wrap. Yeah, thanks guys.
- 55:28Well, yeah, I came last, so I'm excited to mention that.
- 55:32So we posted on our Instagram 321.
- 55:34So we all had a, we all had a guess on who we thought would
- 55:37win and we did some two points if you get the right person with
- 55:41the right medal. So you get them in the right
- 55:43order. One point if you just got the
- 55:45right person and they won a medal and the winner, well, last
- 55:50place was me. Tied for the first were Owen and
- 55:54Ryan. But the tiebreaker, we just have
- 55:58decided that is goes to Owen because he was the only one to
- 56:03get a perfect six from six in the men's three case.
- 56:07So well done on. So I get a pair of shoes from
- 56:13the run inside there is it? That's right.
- 56:21And I was good, correct, right. So back to Ireland, there was a
- 56:26pretty big 10K on the roads. So it's not many actually fast
- 56:2910K's on the roads in Ireland. So there was one which is
- 56:33actually in Mead, which is really so to me.
- 56:36And then last year it was like the National 10K, National Rd.
- 56:3910K, but this year it wasn't, but still got fast times.
- 56:42So the first place was at Colin Rooney who ran at 2934 from
- 56:47Conlef Harriers. Second was Owen Mcaleny, brother
- 56:51of Darren Mcaleny, he ran 30-O2, he's from Bantry.
- 56:54And 3rd was Owen Totten, he ran 3019 from Newcastle and
- 56:59District. And yeah, like Colin Rooney,
- 57:02he's the he, we've touched him a few times.
- 57:05He's he's 4041 and running that time, yeah, he's not letting up
- 57:11at all. On the female side, it was won
- 57:14by Sorka Nidono, she ran 3251, she's from West Limerick.
- 57:20Second was Cheryl Nolan, she ran 3255, so pretty close there.
- 57:25She's from Saint Albans AC. And 3rd was Claire Fagan, who
- 57:28ran 3335 from Munger Harriers. So yeah, good running from then
- 57:33guys. Apparently it was pretty good
- 57:35conditions as well. It's pretty flat course.
- 57:37So it's definitely on my hit list to do, but just not this
- 57:42year. Dean, can you pronounce sources
- 57:46surname? Nick, is that?
- 57:52Yeah. Yeah, you got the first right?
- 57:56Well, sort of. Well, I didn't even get that.
- 58:02Oh, you want me to have a go on that?
- 58:04Yeah, go for it. No, I don't even know what what
- 58:11is Waste Limerick is that. Is that waste?
- 58:13Is that? Waste.
- 58:14Sorry, that's my that's my spelling.
- 58:18That makes more sense. No, look.
- 58:21Oh, I would say Dominale. Dominale, Yeah.
- 58:26So it's sorry, Kenny, Donald, I think, I hope so.
- 58:32Can you don't know it's Irish? Yeah, I'm what?
- 58:39That was very. At this.
- 58:40Point here, Would you have got married wrong?
- 58:45How would you have gone guessing?
- 58:47I'll just say Domino. Domino.
- 58:53Yeah, not bad. For the people, for it's
- 58:55DHOMHNAILL. So yeah, write that down and
- 59:03look at it for a while and try and find out how you'd pronounce
- 59:06it. We should have a little game
- 59:09like pronouncing Irish names each week.
- 59:13It's too many, too many consonants and not of vowels.
- 59:18At this point I'd like to, I think made a bit of a Boo Boo
- 59:21last week with the New York Half Marathon, so got called out on
- 59:25it. And yeah, don't trust AI guys
- 59:29because that's what I was looking at when I was looking
- 59:31for the elevation and I was very much wrong.
- 59:35So it actually is a hilly course.
- 59:37So I take it back to the guys around really fast.
- 59:42It was heading. I think you you're very integral
- 59:45to apologize and go back on it, yeah.
- 59:49I'm sorry, when I'm wrong I'll call myself out.
- 59:55Training weeks, then I wouldn't. What have you been doing?
- 59:59Dean and I know what each other have been getting up too
- 1:00:01largely. Let's hear about your training.
- 1:00:05Right. So go by just standard rebuild
- 1:00:10week basically. Powered powered by Gnomeo, Mr.
- 1:00:14Omgren's trustee supplier of broccoli sprouts.
- 1:00:18And so on the one night just it was 45 minutes and strides in
- 1:00:23the morning, 11 K, 11.4 K and then in the evening for an easy
- 1:00:28double, I just got out for 30 minutes to shake out the legs
- 1:00:317K. Now I have the option to cross
- 1:00:33train these days, but I know I'll probably might come back to
- 1:00:37bite me now in a couple of weeks.
- 1:00:38But the legs are feeling all right.
- 1:00:42Tuesday morning it was a little bit of a pickup, so I had 40
- 1:00:46minutes with a 15 minute pickup. And during this run and guys, it
- 1:00:54was so windy, like it was a joke, just enough, one run at
- 1:00:59all. So yeah, after 25 minutes I
- 1:01:02picked it up for 15. But yeah, not fun.
- 1:01:05It was around 10K average paces, 350 fives.
- 1:01:09These pickups are all done by heart rate, so I'm just sitting
- 1:01:11in between two zones. And that evening, I've been out
- 1:01:14for an easy level of 30 minutes around 442's, just literally
- 1:01:18shaking out the legs again. And then Wednesday was the run.
- 1:01:23We had to, well, I had to split this in 2.
- 1:01:25So it was 60 on the cards. It was 60 minutes and a few
- 1:01:29strides. But because the interview super
- 1:01:31early, got up really early from 30.
- 1:01:33And then in the evening, I don't another 30.
- 1:01:36And then I had my circuit class. Shit.
- 1:01:39She's on Thursday morning. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:46Wow. The things we do for the
- 1:01:48podcast. Thursday morning I had a wee bit
- 1:01:53of a session, sort of a different type of session that I
- 1:01:55normally do. So it was. 5 by 5 minutes at
- 1:02:00like an LT1 sort of level, but after each 5 minutes I picked it
- 1:02:06up for 20, so sort of a 22nd surge.
- 1:02:10So 5 minutes when I hit 5 minutes to search for 20 seconds
- 1:02:13and then go back down to that LT1 level.
- 1:02:17So sort of trying to flush the lactic, whatever that surge
- 1:02:21does. So yeah, 8K around 3, seventeens
- 1:02:25around the track. What are you using for LC-1 pace
- 1:02:29or heart rate? Heart rate, but pace is the ACT
- 1:02:33Don't even like paces are all over the place at the moment
- 1:02:35because I'm not really coming back.
- 1:02:37And I took my luckily after this, I think it was 1.7, which
- 1:02:42is which is all right. But again, you can't really
- 1:02:44trust the pace on this track because it's not a full like I'm
- 1:02:49running on the outside because I don't know if it's like a rumor
- 1:02:52or something, but I heard on the outside of the track it's 400
- 1:02:55meters, but if you're on the inside, it's 336.
- 1:02:58So I'm actually gonna have a trundle wheel in my Amazon
- 1:03:02basket. I might buy a trundle wheel to
- 1:03:04actually just measure it for, yeah, and just sort of getting
- 1:03:09there, getting the legs sort of moving again.
- 1:03:13Umm. Then Friday totally off.
- 1:03:16And then Saturday morning I started doing a little jog and I
- 1:03:19just didn't feel good. So umm, I didn't bother doing
- 1:03:23the session. I had umm, And then Sunday I
- 1:03:25didn't feel great either, which is why I didn't run the race.
- 1:03:28Umm, Now today I feel all right, so I'll probably run in the
- 1:03:30evening, but umm, yeah, I don't know what it was.
- 1:03:33So that was me. I think I've got around 6870 K
- 1:03:36for the week, but other than the little blip at the end, it's
- 1:03:39going in the right direction. No need to take any risks whilst
- 1:03:45you're just rebuilding. Well, me running twice a day
- 1:03:49probably is a risk, but I don't know.
- 1:03:51I sort of. I just hate the idea of going on
- 1:03:53a bike, especially after listening to you guys waffle on
- 1:03:59about it for the last three months.
- 1:04:03Out of principle is going to be all banged up and just avoid.
- 1:04:07Please, I would say that touch word.
- 1:04:10Sorry, no, you'll be fine. But you've you don't mind the
- 1:04:14elliptical and those sorts of things as other like if you've
- 1:04:17got another form of cross training that you enjoy, you
- 1:04:20just do that. Yeah, it's just I sucked off the
- 1:04:22gym membership because it was cost me £40 a month and all they
- 1:04:25do is the treadmill on it. So I yeah, I don't really have a
- 1:04:28gym anymore, but we'll see what happens in the future.
- 1:04:31Would you look to get an elliptical arm or anything like
- 1:04:33that? Yeah, I probably would.
- 1:04:35You know, it's just again, at the moment I'm waiting for
- 1:04:38payday on Thursday to just food in my mouth.
- 1:04:42So yeah, well, maybe come somewhere.
- 1:04:46We'll see what happens. Weren't you in Rome like a week
- 1:04:49or so ago? Yeah, but that's more for the
- 1:04:52head, like you just need to D ties.
- 1:04:56That's why I can't afford the elliptical.
- 1:04:59Throw it all in the Trevi Fountain or whatever it is.
- 1:05:02Yeah, a wish for one Donna kid Deal.
- 1:05:11Well, Speaking of, we'll get to it later.
- 1:05:13I'll come, we'll come to it. I want to talk about Solomon Kit
- 1:05:17where you can talk about it later.
- 1:05:19Then you give us your week and I'll, I'll just piggyback off it
- 1:05:22because we've done a bit together.
- 1:05:25Yeah, sure. So my week started off with an
- 1:05:35easy run, would you believe, to work, and then a run to the gym
- 1:05:46and then a lift on Monday, and then Tuesday was Tuesday
- 1:05:52morning. We did a workout, you and I run.
- 1:05:56So it was two. No, this was mile reps, wasn't
- 1:06:01it? So we did 5 by mile or you did 4
- 1:06:07and I did 5. And the pace I've got for my
- 1:06:11mile reps I've got and we might be slightly different just with
- 1:06:15GPS. We're doing a bit of a loop
- 1:06:17around like Munga, quite a few right angle turns.
- 1:06:21I think maybe like 5 right angle turns, which hopefully we don't
- 1:06:25do that tomorrow. Hopefully it's a bit smoother.
- 1:06:27Yeah. So we did.
- 1:06:29I was 318 three, 14317, three, 12308 the reps So the first of
- 1:06:37all we did together and then you just, you kept it at 4:00 and I
- 1:06:40did five. It was reasonably warm.
- 1:06:44I think from from memory, the reps didn't feel too bad, but
- 1:06:48that would have been the first time for you running at those
- 1:06:52paces. So maybe more interesting to
- 1:06:55talk about how you found it and pulled up.
- 1:06:58Yeah, I think like starting from tomorrow, I need to remember
- 1:07:03that we are two very different athletes and what's comfortable
- 1:07:08for you isn't necessarily comfortable for me or the
- 1:07:11purpose of the session. If you're running a certain
- 1:07:15pace, I'm getting something different from the session if
- 1:07:17I'm running the same pace as you.
- 1:07:19So I need to just run my own sessions.
- 1:07:23It's hard when it's like literally four or five seconds
- 1:07:27and therefore, like 10 or 20 meters.
- 1:07:30But it makes a big difference, doesn't it?
- 1:07:31So yeah, need to just do my own sessions because like, I got it
- 1:07:36done. But that's why I cut it from
- 1:07:395:00 to 4:00 because I was probably working a bit too hard
- 1:07:42than it should have been. But it's all an experiment for a
- 1:07:46little while. It is a little bit like, I mean
- 1:07:50part of what you're trying to do is just load the foot up and
- 1:07:53make sure you get through it. And then because we're not at
- 1:07:57the limit of like we're not doing double threshold days and
- 1:08:01these big, you know, we're not even at the track doing VO2
- 1:08:04workouts. So my thinking is at the minute
- 1:08:08if we do spend a little bit of time like particularly stuff
- 1:08:11where we have static recovery. So we were doing these mile reps
- 1:08:15in around 5 minutes and then we would have 90 seconds static
- 1:08:18recovery. So you can't we, I have in the
- 1:08:21past when I do a lot of these workouts gone slightly over
- 1:08:24threshold. So but for me, I'm just trying
- 1:08:29to do them and get through them. I'm not focused necessarily on
- 1:08:33if my heart rate gets a little bit carried away.
- 1:08:36I, I care less. It's more about making sure I'm
- 1:08:39not sore. That was Tuesday.
- 1:08:42You. You picked the last one up as
- 1:08:44well I think, didn't you? Yeah, yeah, the last one was a
- 1:08:49little bit quicker, but I was, I was working pretty hard.
- 1:08:53Yeah, it was pretty warm on Tuesday and then that afternoon
- 1:08:58I just got out for an easy half hour.
- 1:09:01Wednesday, just two easy runs to and from work.
- 1:09:05Thursday is essentially like double threshold or double
- 1:09:09workout day. So we had, so I rode into Kings
- 1:09:15Park, it's about 10 KS. Then it's a 2020 minutes with
- 1:09:19the group going at a basically a tempo effort, albeit that that
- 1:09:23felt harder than tempo. That felt like there's a few
- 1:09:25guys racing either on the Sunshine Coast or at that
- 1:09:29Geelong 70.3 in the weekend coming up.
- 1:09:32So this was their last sort of hit out and you know how guys
- 1:09:35get ahead of when there are a few days out from a race when
- 1:09:39they're tapering and feeling fresh and they're feeling zippy.
- 1:09:42So the guys were feeling pretty poppy.
- 1:09:44So that ride at the 1st 20 minutes was harder than normal.
- 1:09:47And then because it was in, because I knew I had a bike in
- 1:09:50the afternoon, I just did the three.
- 1:09:52I only did three of the five reps up that cardiac climb and I
- 1:09:57sort of took the foot off the pedal, to be honest, a bit with
- 1:10:01those. How'd you find it right?
- 1:10:03Luke must be Luke must be a secret listener because just so
- 1:10:08happens that the week before we were bagging him out for his
- 1:10:12easy 20 minute team time trial pace and then the week after
- 1:10:17there he is trying to ring the necks of everybody.
- 1:10:22Yeah, he was flying around on the bike, wasn't he?
- 1:10:27But yeah, that was that was good fun up them hills.
- 1:10:31It's hard work on the quads though.
- 1:10:32Like it's not so much the the cardiac effort that you need to
- 1:10:38do it. It's more so just the muscular
- 1:10:39endurance. Like once your quads just seize,
- 1:10:42it's hard to come back from that.
- 1:10:44And the fatigue that you feel when you're running is so much
- 1:10:47different. Like this is so much more
- 1:10:49muscular, whereas running is like a mechanical breakdown or
- 1:10:53you you're blowing up and you gassed in your lungs.
- 1:10:56Whereas this is just like, Oh my God, the pain.
- 1:10:59It just burns so much. Yeah, that quad pain, I feel
- 1:11:04like you can sit with that quad pain more, and it's about
- 1:11:07getting accustomed to sitting with that, that fatigue.
- 1:11:11Like I feel that fatigue and I know it's like lactate and so I
- 1:11:15want to avoid it. But I think for cycling you
- 1:11:18probably can lean into it a bit more than what I do if you
- 1:11:22really want to get after it. But now you're thinking about
- 1:11:27your Thursday evenings, so there's there's a little bit in
- 1:11:30reserve. Exactly.
- 1:11:34So yeah, Thursday evening I had eight by K and they were
- 1:11:39309304303303304305304301, so most of them around that sort of
- 1:11:51304305 pace. One of the guys there, Andrew,
- 1:11:55who is joined the group but he's still coached by Xander, he was
- 1:12:01running all of his to 305 pace. So we pretty much after the
- 1:12:05first one when I realised it wasn't too hard, I just, I, I
- 1:12:09sat with him and that felt really nice.
- 1:12:12I didn't feel too bad to be honest.
- 1:12:14That was the quickest I've moved in a while.
- 1:12:16Felt mechanically, felt not too bad, a bit tight in areas, but
- 1:12:20nothing. Nothing.
- 1:12:23Yeah, nothing too worrisome, which is good.
- 1:12:26And was he bang on three oh fives?
- 1:12:27Or were you just like like kicking at the end so you're OK,
- 1:12:31OK kicking him at the end, try and get the win.
- 1:12:33I yeah, there's a bit of that. I no, there we were halfway
- 1:12:39through the Rep and the pace, the pace looked like it had
- 1:12:42slowed down. So I picked it up and then I'd
- 1:12:45looked back after picking it up for a little bit and realized he
- 1:12:49didn't change. And then I realized I'd probably
- 1:12:52didn't need to do that. And then Luke picked it up, went
- 1:12:55round me and started taking off. And then you have a decision, do
- 1:13:00you? What do you do there?
- 1:13:02Fair play to Andrew because that's hard when boys are just
- 1:13:05kicking on for holding back. Every second, Rep Luke would
- 1:13:11finish about 15 meters ahead, turn, turn to everyone after and
- 1:13:15go. Sorry fellas, my fault.
- 1:13:17That was me. That was me.
- 1:13:22I'll never forget my hair. My very first session with front
- 1:13:25runner, he absolutely buried me. And Ralph was like, Joe, yeah,
- 1:13:30just hold on to the backbone. And I'm like Ross.
- 1:13:33And it was around Kings Park, over hills, asking how chills.
- 1:13:39Yeah. So he might be there tomorrow
- 1:13:41morning, apparently. So just what we?
- 1:13:45Need so I'll definitely be running my own session.
- 1:13:53But yeah, no, I'm Andrew, literally on the dot.
- 1:13:56Every Rep is very, very measured, very impressive.
- 1:14:00So good training, good training partner, although you need all
- 1:14:03types. I think Friday I did ran into
- 1:14:09the office and then I did a bit of a run into Leaderville and we
- 1:14:13got Yochi. So it was a good evening.
- 1:14:16Evening run Saturday. YouTube buy one get one free on
- 1:14:22Wednesday. With the like group ride, you're
- 1:14:26joking. I've missed that.
- 1:14:27I didn't realize. No when?
- 1:14:29Wednesday coming 2 days. Oh, hot date, you reckon?
- 1:14:37That's that's the thing I miss most about Australia.
- 1:14:40Yochi Yochi. It's so good for all the people
- 1:14:44who don't know, it's like a frozen yogurt place, but you can
- 1:14:47like add your own toppings and you get loads of different
- 1:14:49flavors. It's it is the best thing.
- 1:14:51No, it's an absolute rob because it's done by weight and oh God,
- 1:14:56so good. Do you know what they had for
- 1:14:58about a month or a month 20? 1000 steps thing.
- 1:15:02Yeah, free. Yeah, they lost.
- 1:15:06So much money I'd say. Story for that so Andrew who
- 1:15:11Ryan's had who's baited Ryan into racing him on the bike.
- 1:15:15Andrew won more Sunday morning. He did his 25,000 steps pushing
- 1:15:20the pram for three hours got to Yochi for 2O got to Yochi at
- 1:15:241:40 because it only applies to 2:00 PM.
- 1:15:27He got served at 2 O 2:00 PM and they denied him the they
- 1:15:32wouldn't on honor his Yeah, three hours yeah.
- 1:15:39Well, I would have been emailing them.
- 1:15:43Yeah, he took it on the chin. Anyway, that would have killed
- 1:15:50him. Mate he loves a bargain.
- 1:15:55Shout out to to him because I wouldn't have front door rear
- 1:15:58lights on my bike without him. So yeah, so we did our group
- 1:16:04ride on Saturday and that was quicker than normal.
- 1:16:07That's getting quicker and quicker that group ride, but
- 1:16:09it's good aerobic stimulus. So for context, like that ride,
- 1:16:17including me pottering in to the ride, my average heart rate's
- 1:16:21here 145, whereas my run it's like 135.
- 1:16:28And then that afternoon I just went for an easy 30 minute run
- 1:16:35or 40 minute run in the afternoon.
- 1:16:36And then Ryan, we met up on Sunday and we ticked off 90
- 1:16:40minutes in just under 4 1/2 minute K pace.
- 1:16:47So it was my week 100 and 112 KS and of running and 140 KS are
- 1:16:53running. How many weeks is that now since
- 1:16:58since you last like down week not down week but you know you
- 1:17:02little set back. Well, I rode due when I rode
- 1:17:09that way because I've just rode for a week because it just in
- 1:17:12case that week. That was six weeks ago.
- 1:17:17Oh. Yeah, So you have solid six
- 1:17:20weeks build continuous since, Yeah, getting pretty fit
- 1:17:25quietly. Getting there.
- 1:17:29It's good. But you're not racing British.
- 1:17:34Well, what I'd done in between that was I just, I only ran.
- 1:17:40Tuesday was the session with Dean, Thursday morning the bike
- 1:17:44session and then Thursday evening I jogged because then
- 1:17:48Friday morning I wanted to do a bit of a second session and we'd
- 1:17:53spoken to RAF. I'd spoken to RAF, perhaps
- 1:17:55indirectly. I took from the conversation
- 1:17:57that like I don't need to be chasing fitness, like trying to
- 1:18:02do loads of threshold work as such because the bike has
- 1:18:05provided so much of that. It's more so reintroducing the
- 1:18:09mechanical load to the body, to the legs and importantly through
- 1:18:13the heel to kind of test these the faster paces and stuff and
- 1:18:17get back condition to running those paces.
- 1:18:20So on Friday morning took it upon myself to do an attempted 8
- 1:18:25by 800 meters, and I say attempted because I'd done four
- 1:18:30and then realised that I'd probably set too fast of a pace
- 1:18:34for myself. So I think the first four were
- 1:18:39like 233, which is maybe 310 per K pace off a 75 second stand.
- 1:18:47And then I thought, tell me right or wrong, rather than
- 1:18:51continue to regress through the reps, I shortened the Rep length
- 1:18:55to try and keep the same pace for the exposure to the
- 1:18:59mechanical load, if you will. So then I've done 2 by 6
- 1:19:02hundreds and 2 by 4 hundreds. So I mean, I was, I was goosed
- 1:19:10after that. I haven't moved that quick in a
- 1:19:13year, but still to rack up like whatever it was 5 KS worth of
- 1:19:18volume at that pace is a good sign.
- 1:19:21And hail was a little bit sore that evening afternoon, but then
- 1:19:25by the morning it settled again. So I think maybe just about the
- 1:19:30right amount of stimulus, maybe a little bit of a warning sign
- 1:19:34that like, you can't be doing full on sessions like that.
- 1:19:38Yes. And you're not fully out of the
- 1:19:39woods. So yeah, then didn't run
- 1:19:43Saturday and yet 90 minutes with Dean Sunday, which felt good.
- 1:19:46Felt good Sunday evening, felt good Monday morning.
- 1:19:49So good to go for tomorrow I think.
- 1:19:54And if this bridge is being, you have to stream it.
- 1:19:57He's getting fit, this guy. He's he's putting all the bricks
- 1:20:02in place, isn't he? For an assault?
- 1:20:04Yeah, yeah. Some big names going to go down.
- 1:20:07He he was giving me the strategy of of last year's win, where to
- 1:20:14push, where to hold back, where it gets tight, where the little
- 1:20:17risers are and yesterday's long run.
- 1:20:23I was just, I was giving him the how to do it.
- 1:20:29All the bikies are going to be spent over that first bridge.
- 1:20:32After 10 minutes, I was. Going to say when Matthew and
- 1:20:36blown off by 5K. You reckon you'll get to 5?
- 1:20:44No, I'll be stepping off in South Perth and getting the
- 1:20:49ferry back to Elizabeth Key. Yeah.
- 1:20:55No, look, it's about given where we were.
- 1:20:59Remember, we were just two, you know, grumpy old cyclists not
- 1:21:03that long ago. Look where we are now, slightly
- 1:21:07less grumpy running cyclists. So we got to take that.
- 1:21:14This is it. And I did say to you, yes, on
- 1:21:16Sunday, yesterday, like I have to remember now just because now
- 1:21:21I'm starting to do some sessions.
- 1:21:24It was only like some point in February where I ran 10K
- 1:21:30uninterrupted for the first time.
- 1:21:31And we're still in the month of March.
- 1:21:33So like it's important to slow down as well.
- 1:21:37Slow down the like progression or the rate of return that is.
- 1:21:43Yeah, and just what you're doing.
- 1:21:44Because certainly don't want to be going back there.
- 1:21:49No. But yeah, it's I've found now
- 1:21:53that I'm spending a lot of time during the working day just
- 1:21:58thinking about the next time I'll get to run, thinking about
- 1:22:01what bloody splits are going to be.
- 1:22:03You know, like fully back in the game mentally when you're just
- 1:22:07excited to run and you're thinking about what races you
- 1:22:10can do and all this, which is good, but jeez, yeah, I forgot
- 1:22:14about how much it occupies you mentally to.
- 1:22:17So you got all your split start in for tomorrow.
- 1:22:21Well, no, because we don't get the session revealed, do we?
- 1:22:24Which is probably a good thing, unless you know what what we're
- 1:22:27doing. Even if I did, I wouldn't tell
- 1:22:31you. Better just to just rock up.
- 1:22:34Yeah, well, I wouldn't be sleeping of the Gnomeo sat there
- 1:22:41ready to go. 630 anyway. That's training weeks.
- 1:22:45Another week done, another week heading in the right direction.
- 1:22:48We've got some news, I think. When are you going to tell us
- 1:22:52about this? 10K maybe?
- 1:22:55Yeah, so it's one probably one of the main.
- 1:22:57No, if probably is the main track 10K that people go to to
- 1:23:02try and like hit standards because on the track there's not
- 1:23:06many high quality 10 KS and yeah, this one is absolutely
- 1:23:11stacked. And from an Irish point of view,
- 1:23:14you've got Efrain G Day who's around 2726.
- 1:23:18From Aussie standpoint, you've got Brett Robinson, he's flying
- 1:23:23over, he's around 2751. And you've got Kai Robinson.
- 1:23:27This will be his. I think it's trapped in K and
- 1:23:29debut. He's only got a 12:58 to his
- 1:23:32name, 1245 K. Then from Auk standpoint you
- 1:23:38have got all the the Cowboys. So you've got Emile Crassus,
- 1:23:44Ellis Cross. Sorry, Ellis Cross.
- 1:23:46You've got Scott B, You have Roy Leonard, EH, David Malarkey.
- 1:23:52And then other mentions are Woody Kincaid and Mike Foppin.
- 1:23:58Yeah, it's just Drew Bosley. It's just absolutely stacked.
- 1:24:02And like looking at the, I don't even know who you'd call because
- 1:24:07you don't really know what shape anyone's in.
- 1:24:09But like, if you're Brett Robinson, you know, just sit and
- 1:24:12ride that train because you're going to be brought around to a
- 1:24:14very, very fast time. Is it Gulvia Singh that was was
- 1:24:21he's 3rd at the? New York, Yeah.
- 1:24:26New York, that's the same, yeah. Be interested to see how he
- 1:24:31backs up. Do you think it's the likes of
- 1:24:33him and then maybe Kyle Robinson?
- 1:24:36Who like who? Who do you think of the the guys
- 1:24:41to to Mark? Like there's no, it's not going
- 1:24:45to be run and 26 high. I don't think it'll be like a 27
- 1:24:49low maybe. So, yeah, you read like, I think
- 1:24:54Callum Nelson's actually pacing this race to 3K and which just
- 1:24:58says it that like, it's gone. Well, it's probably will be very
- 1:25:01fast if he's only going to 3K and but yeah, I don't know who
- 1:25:05to call. I'd love to see like the like
- 1:25:06Scott B, He'd be interesting to see how he does 10K on the track
- 1:25:10because it's just a different beast to tank on the road.
- 1:25:12It's just laps on laps on laps. And but yeah, don't know who to
- 1:25:17call. Well, funny, given our
- 1:25:20conversation the other week about Joe Wigfield and the
- 1:25:24British distance guys at the minute, we'll get a pretty good
- 1:25:27indicator when Rory Land, Scott, BC and the likes have a crack
- 1:25:32here. Yeah, and after being in flag
- 1:25:36for the last couple of weeks, they're going to be fair.
- 1:25:39Like if they time it well coming down from altitude, like it'll
- 1:25:43be really, really interesting to see how how the boys go.
- 1:25:46If you're going to pick one, because if we got a horse in the
- 1:25:49rest, so you're picking. From G Day.
- 1:25:55Can't call her. I'll go Robinson.
- 1:26:01There we go. There.
- 1:26:03You go. We're all loyal.
- 1:26:06On the on the women's side, and again, it's pretty stacked.
- 1:26:12You've got a lot of them, Americans and Brits, really.
- 1:26:16On the British side you have Izzy Fry, Lucy Jones and you
- 1:26:22have got Alexandra Millard, Hannah Irwin.
- 1:26:25On the UK you've got Shelby Hooligan and he's probably the
- 1:26:31biggest name and you've got choice.
- 1:26:33Associated with the UK, USA. Do you know what you said?
- 1:26:40No, You said show, show. You said Shelby.
- 1:26:44I look good. He.
- 1:26:46Knows exactly what he said you did.
- 1:26:49It. Umm no, but yeah, I got it
- 1:26:53interested to see how they go 10K umm, I think it's not as
- 1:26:57strong as the Mansfield like joy Chuck coy, like joy chapter
- 1:27:02Toeic like she has the fastest PB by by a little bit.
- 1:27:06But yeah, again, not a big big 10K because there's.
- 1:27:14Commonwealth Games and European outdoors, 10,000 meters places
- 1:27:19or per grab. So I guess that's what lots of
- 1:27:21these will be targeting. There's also a fifth men's 1500
- 1:27:27that's worth mentioning that has got Brandon Miller from the US.
- 1:27:31It's also got Ali Hor and Mario Romo, Mario Garcia, the other
- 1:27:37one, and Dylan Jacobs. So yeah, again, another a big
- 1:27:421500. Be interested to see Ali Hora
- 1:27:44goes because he's hasn't had the best run of things recently.
- 1:27:48Hopefully as a good one could do with some confidence in a decent
- 1:27:52run, couldn't he? Yeah, I'm surprised he didn't
- 1:27:56come over to Australia to run that Murray plant, mate.
- 1:28:01It's deeper, but yeah, that's. Speaking of which.
- 1:28:06We don't. Want to do those money plant
- 1:28:08fields? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:28:11So we'll start off with the men's 3K, which is absolutely
- 1:28:18stacked. So you've got Brian Faye in it.
- 1:28:22You've got Adam Goddard, James Hansen, Logan Janetsky, Morgan
- 1:28:26McDonald, Stu Mcslane making his debut for the OEC Settle,
- 1:28:30Donald, Jack Rayner. Yeah, it is just so, so deep.
- 1:28:36And I hope this will be streamed because nor because it's a gold
- 1:28:41label. They might stream on that World
- 1:28:43Athletics. But yeah, that's the men's 3K.
- 1:28:50Next we'll go for the women's 3K.
- 1:28:52Let me just look for it. Who just hasn't not?
- 1:28:56One Swain make making his own debuts huge, hopefully.
- 1:29:04Morgan like, yeah, it's very hard to call.
- 1:29:11Surely you have to go, Brian Faye, your man.
- 1:29:15Yeah, I am, yeah, say true to my brother.
- 1:29:20I'm going to have Stewie. All right, we'll go for.
- 1:29:22The women's. Training long enough.
- 1:29:25Oh, I don't know. Yeah, Seth O'Donnell will be
- 1:29:27there like he's run a fast 3 KII think I'll go set and we'll go
- 1:29:34over to the women's. Now the women's equally A
- 1:29:36stacked you've got Rose Davis carafe Ryan Georgia Griffiths
- 1:29:41and not real Marty sky ring and they're I can't really oh Rose
- 1:29:49Davis come back from injury now. Georgia Griffiths fit a probably
- 1:29:54it's going to be a show between both of them.
- 1:29:56I'd probably go Georgia. Yeah, it's not a bad shot.
- 1:30:01I'll go Rose Davies to be different.
- 1:30:05And Ryan is struggling with the Wi-Fi and Ryan's gone.
- 1:30:12I think the men's 1500 this, the John Landy Cope or whatever you
- 1:30:19call that guest Super Stack, Jack Anstey, he's going to have
- 1:30:24a point to prove. You've got the Brit turn and
- 1:30:26Kroger and Callum Davis. Robert Farrakhan has come from
- 1:30:30Germany because from worlds and Jude Thomas as well.
- 1:30:33So it is so, so deep. And they have a pacer.
- 1:30:38They have a pacer. So it will be fast.
- 1:30:42Oh, who's who are you going to tip in that one?
- 1:30:45I think Cam. Myers is a different base this
- 1:30:48year. Like Adam Spencer, he's gone.
- 1:30:53He has to be tired. So.
- 1:30:56Yeah, I'm going for Cam Myers. I'll go.
- 1:31:01I'll go Jack Anstey just for. Because you want to say it.
- 1:31:05And Ryan is going to go for turning Kroken.
- 1:31:09Represent his countrymen. That right, Ryan?
- 1:31:13Yeah, my man, my horse in Jr. stable.
- 1:31:18My noble state, well go to the women's. 1500 meters now and.
- 1:31:27Sarah Billings, you've got Abby Caldwell, you've got Linden.
- 1:31:31Hall, Jayla. Hancock, Cameron, Claudia
- 1:31:33Hollingsworth, Georgia Hunter Bell from Ireland, Laura
- 1:31:36Nicholson and Sophie O'Sullivan. And you've got a Dutch woman,
- 1:31:41Diane Vanness. It's yeah, so, so deep again.
- 1:31:46And I want us that Diane. She just raced New York.
- 1:31:52Half. The other week.
- 1:31:55Is that her? She came fourth.
- 1:31:57She's run like 1430 or so and. She's European 5K.
- 1:32:01Record holder. I think she OK, I should know
- 1:32:06her then she's run. Four O 2 for the mile.
- 1:32:09For the 1500, sorry for 1500 in this one, George Hunter Bell.
- 1:32:15Surely she can't pull it off. I've gone for Claudia.
- 1:32:21Nah. No way.
- 1:32:26Well, you've got Abby Caldwell, and I'll be.
- 1:32:28Called when it has literally won every single Australian race.
- 1:32:30There is this year and Sarah Billings is going to be fit as
- 1:32:33long and Linden Hall OK George on to Bill depends how she
- 1:32:40handles the jet lag she. Hasn't got much time to get over
- 1:32:43it. She doesn't need to, she's like
- 1:32:47on top of the first class. She's gonna be playing first
- 1:32:49class lie down. Just go for now, yeah?
- 1:32:53Didn't was what? Was it the other week?
- 1:32:57Was it Hobart? Or Adelaide, where Claudia ran
- 1:33:01358 though herself. Yeah, yeah, fastest debut by an
- 1:33:06Aussie. In Australia or?
- 1:33:08Something to that effect. So that's like that's in the
- 1:33:11mix. But I mean, yeah, on paper.
- 1:33:14George is surely the classier athlete but could be an upset
- 1:33:21bro it. Depends out.
- 1:33:23How much she celebrated the. World indoors.
- 1:33:28And if we got the 800 to round it out, yeah, so.
- 1:33:31There is no women's 800 as. Far as I can see, the men's 8.
- 1:33:35100 again, a few boys flying across so Peter Ball is going to
- 1:33:40try and go. For it, you've got Luke.
- 1:33:41Boyce, Peyton Craig and some trap from Israel.
- 1:33:45Nom mom, AUSA guy, Grant Grosvenor and Daniel Williams
- 1:33:51guy so he'll be interested. He gets on the big dogs.
- 1:33:56Fair play for pulling that off like some fields then.
- 1:34:01There's paintball run 142. I didn't realize that.
- 1:34:04Was that true? That's what it's saying on his
- 1:34:10one for 255, yeah. Was that in Monaco or?
- 1:34:15Yeah. Probably last year and last year
- 1:34:18the 100 popped. Off she.
- 1:34:20Was, but yeah, that's more implant lads like that'd.
- 1:34:25Be if it wasn't so far away. From Percy, definitely down
- 1:34:27there. It's so deep.
- 1:34:29I think Raff's going over, yeah. And we may as well touch on.
- 1:34:37The women's pole vault has Nina Kennedy.
- 1:34:41It's got him, Yeah. She's making her return, so
- 1:34:45hopefully have to call her because she's my friend.
- 1:34:48Met her in the sauna. So yeah, let's go.
- 1:34:51Nina, that's. Twice you've mentioned pole
- 1:34:57vault this. Episode you're talking about the
- 1:34:59the British girl pole. Vaults as well actually.
- 1:35:02May as well throw in Mando has he's doing a soundtrack for the
- 1:35:06ultimate. Chance or something like that.
- 1:35:09I did see this. Didn't he get offended because?
- 1:35:12Someone asked him about. Like if the Greek guy was going
- 1:35:15to be rapping on his song or something.
- 1:35:17As they know, there's also a half marathon in Berlin Which?
- 1:35:23Of relevance has got. Jake Smith, Mark Scott, Johannes
- 1:35:27Muchman. I don't if anyone knows him.
- 1:35:29German guy. Henrik Feiffer.
- 1:35:31German Phil Sessman. So there's a few Brits in the
- 1:35:34mix. Johnny Malla, I'm Mel Petros.
- 1:35:39He's the marathon runner. He's unreal.
- 1:35:42Yes, Sam. Parsons based in the US, Yeah,
- 1:35:46making his debut, Yeah, I did say.
- 1:35:48I did say commentary on their website that Petros is hoping to
- 1:35:54shoot for the European record, which I think is like 5831.
- 1:35:59Is that arm grades or she a best?
- 1:36:01It is, yeah. Stay away from that.
- 1:36:04Yeah, so. That'll be 1 to watch.
- 1:36:08I don't know too much about this, but we obviously have seen
- 1:36:10a heap of footage of the Burleigh Marathon and we know
- 1:36:14how fast that is. That used to prior to Valencia
- 1:36:17be sort of the race to seek out if you wanted to run, you know,
- 1:36:22run a PB. So I can only assume this is
- 1:36:25going to be a very fast course. Yeah, it's one of the big ones
- 1:36:29in the build up for like London and.
- 1:36:31Boston and all. That ones and it's might be
- 1:36:34rapid and it was announced I think either through his latest.
- 1:36:39YouTube video. But, and it's definitely on his
- 1:36:41socials that Jimmy Wheel and Ozzy is running that because he
- 1:36:45just paced. He just went through what, 25 KS
- 1:36:49of the Barcelona marathon? Well, no, what what marathon was
- 1:36:53it? Was it that.
- 1:36:54Yeah, marathon in Spain? Yeah.
- 1:36:57And what? He has a place in Barcelona.
- 1:36:59Hey, like he literally went past his doorstep apparently, which
- 1:37:05sounds quite nice. A lot of those pro cyclists find
- 1:37:07themselves a little getaway little Spanish cottage
- 1:37:13somewhere, don't they? Yeah, no bad gig about setup at
- 1:37:18all. But he's what's he run 6137, so
- 1:37:22he's hope he might be hoping to. What?
- 1:37:26Maybe shoot for the Aussie record, I don't know, in his in
- 1:37:31his new Solomon Stumpers. I just couldn't contextualise if
- 1:37:37because did. You see?
- 1:37:39This is segueing into YouTube Diaries, but did you see his
- 1:37:43latest video where he talks about his pacing gig and you see
- 1:37:46his get up? Because he's a Solomon sponsored
- 1:37:49athlete and like he moves so well and it's just so strange to
- 1:37:54think that he might be running the Australian half marathon or
- 1:37:58ma marathon record in a pair of Solomon shoes.
- 1:38:02But they're all equal. Like they're all using the same
- 1:38:04technology nowadays. Like just minute.
- 1:38:06Differences. But that's that, if that's ever
- 1:38:10an advertisement for that statement.
- 1:38:12It's where you get a a a notoriously like a trail
- 1:38:16company, right? That's all we I associate them
- 1:38:19with, putting together the a shoe that produces the fastest
- 1:38:23ever result for a distance race by an Australian.
- 1:38:28It's pretty cool. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:38:31I was going to say that until you see someone run.
- 1:38:33Faster now, I would have said. Solomon's a blue trail brand
- 1:38:36now, Yeah, shifts your perspective on the.
- 1:38:42On the brand and the potential because and.
- 1:38:46Yeah. I mean, are we on to YouTube
- 1:38:47Diaries? I think we've the YouTube
- 1:38:51Diaries we're going to talk about were Jimmy.
- 1:38:53Willan's video where he. Recaps his pacing gig at
- 1:38:57Barcelona half. I think it's it.
- 1:38:59I feel like it's going to be a good follow because he's
- 1:39:01announced that he's going to target a marathon in the
- 1:39:03second-half of this year. And he hints at that, talking
- 1:39:06about it. And you hear a couple of the
- 1:39:07comments he makes in the video where he's like, because he did
- 1:39:10the 25 K pacing job job and then after he did that, he's like,
- 1:39:14that wasn't too bad. So then he helped someone at
- 1:39:17like 330K pace to the finish line and then does a cool down
- 1:39:21and then he comes in and he turns to the camera.
- 1:39:23He's up like easy sport isn't it isn't because compared to the
- 1:39:29hours of work that is cycling, he's like this running capers
- 1:39:33ain't so bad. So maybe the the little injury
- 1:39:37had a couple of months ago as well might have.
- 1:39:40Been well timed that like he's he's learned where the limit is
- 1:39:43early on and now he can like reframe training to be a little
- 1:39:47bit smarter and because he was already from a very high level
- 1:39:51of fitness anyway because he'd done that Valencia run.
- 1:39:56I'd be curious to know like because he.
- 1:39:58Is coming from. Such a an elite cycling
- 1:40:01background and he's transitioning to running.
- 1:40:04Why he's not looking to, or if he is and we just don't see it,
- 1:40:09incorporate more cycling into his training week.
- 1:40:13Like he seems to handle a great amount of mileage so maybe he
- 1:40:17doesn't find the need to. But with the expertise that he
- 1:40:21has, I'd be interested to understand why he doesn't or
- 1:40:24what benefits. Or if it's more rethinks running
- 1:40:26is more specific. It'd be interesting to hear his
- 1:40:28reflections on that or if you've heard and I just haven't heard
- 1:40:31it. No, I mean what I'm thinking is
- 1:40:34he could probably give me some great perspective.
- 1:40:37On. The balance of my cycling slash
- 1:40:39running split and whether I'm accumulating a nice level of
- 1:40:44fatigue or if I'm just putting myself in the oven if I
- 1:40:46continue. Yeah, and directionally like,
- 1:40:50like we do joke a bit, but. Like, yeah, for example, Jake,
- 1:40:54how many? I saw Jake's video, like the the
- 1:40:56Instagram post with the the bike.
- 1:40:59Yeah, cops got a bike. Like a lot of people are using
- 1:41:01it as a as a tool, as our way. It'd be good to get someone to
- 1:41:06unpack how best to do that, because I'm perhaps naively
- 1:41:11thinking that you can get away with.
- 1:41:13Intensity on the bike one day, intensity run the next day,
- 1:41:17which like maybe on paper you can, but over time is that level
- 1:41:21of like fatigue going to creep up on you?
- 1:41:27Speaking of shoes and shoe brands, the other.
- 1:41:29Video and I don't know if you guys watched this was.
- 1:41:31Clayton Young's first video ahead of his latest marathon
- 1:41:36venture. So he's coming off the back of
- 1:41:37an injury and he announced in his video that he's switched
- 1:41:41from as a as an athlete, Essex athlete to a Brooks athlete.
- 1:41:47And he basically said, look, I've got a four year window to
- 1:41:49get the most out of myself. I think he seems fairly focused
- 1:41:53on the LA Olympics coming up and he chose Brooks.
- 1:41:58And part of the reason he chose Brooks is because he has a whole
- 1:42:01team of people that are going to be focused on putting together
- 1:42:04the best footwear for him. Because he acknowledges that
- 1:42:08performance footwear is what he needs if he is to get, you know,
- 1:42:12advantage himself the most in his in his running.
- 1:42:15And apparently he did some economy testing with the shoes
- 1:42:18that are available and was very pleased with the results.
- 1:42:21Which is yeah, just, which is cool as well because I would
- 1:42:26feel like if I if you asked. Me for my top. 4 shoes to go to
- 1:42:29at the minute. I wouldn't put the likes of
- 1:42:31Solomon or Brooks in my top four.
- 1:42:34Yeah, which is annoying because now we're going to eventually be
- 1:42:37influenced. And we'll end up having to buy a
- 1:42:40pair of Brooks Clayton Young, you know, the dramatic music.
- 1:42:44And he's like. Overlaid with his like calm but
- 1:42:48serious thoughts as the start of every video I know it's I find a
- 1:42:53very good hook captivating time. Yeah, yeah, I'm glad that he's
- 1:42:58back on the series. But it feels like it's been a
- 1:43:00while. Yeah, I really want to be
- 1:43:03training up for a marathon at the same time I.
- 1:43:05Feel like it crescendos not. Nicely with your own running.
- 1:43:10I'd be interested to see how he goes because he was saying he's
- 1:43:12going to be undercooked. Well, normally comes.
- 1:43:15Into a marathon, like a bit overcooked, so be interesting.
- 1:43:18He said he's going to be undercooked this time because
- 1:43:19it's going to be a shorter build than usual, so hopefully he goes
- 1:43:23well. And how's that few cuts to
- 1:43:26Connor Manz in amongst? Like Connor's just doing his.
- 1:43:29Own training and just go on full gas, isn't it?
- 1:43:33It'd be good cool to see them back in the same race again,
- 1:43:36won't it? Yeah, Hell yeah.
- 1:43:41Double trouble. I've got one.
- 1:43:43I know Dean's going. To defend it when I'm
- 1:43:48interested, whether you support it or whether you're feeling
- 1:43:52defensive and kind as well. But I just seen it was the Rome
- 1:43:56Marathon over the weekend and I've seen something and it
- 1:44:01triggered me. I might, I'm nervous to say it's
- 1:44:04might offend a few people. But anyway, it's only my
- 1:44:06opinion. It's not, it's not a rule, but
- 1:44:10so seeing a few people walking around, no, I won't make it.
- 1:44:14A lot of people talk about the concept.
- 1:44:16You've run a marathon year and a half marathon.
- 1:44:18You're a 10K. Often you will receive a medal
- 1:44:22as part of your completion of that race and you can do
- 1:44:28whatever you like with that medal.
- 1:44:29You can hang it up on your ball, you can throw it away, or you
- 1:44:33can shove it in a drawer and never say it again.
- 1:44:35However, what you do with the Mara, the medal on the day of
- 1:44:40the race, after the race and in the days coming from the race
- 1:44:45can trigger me. And this Rome Marathon triggered
- 1:44:49me because I've seen a couple of people taking their medal out
- 1:44:55for the evening meal and for the evening drinks and then continue
- 1:45:00to wear it potentially to travel home and stuff like this.
- 1:45:04Now I'll offer you your opinions in a minute because I'm
- 1:45:07conscious my might be a bit extreme or a bit judgy and I was
- 1:45:12trying to land on some sort of sensible ideology with it.
- 1:45:17So I'm thinking you could you can wear your medal after the
- 1:45:23race if you go for food straight away, if you go and for drinks
- 1:45:28straight away, but then as soon as you go home and have a
- 1:45:31shower, the medal cannot go back on in race attire.
- 1:45:39It's acceptable. But in casual.
- 1:45:41Lifestyle You can't be putting your medal on to go to the pub.
- 1:45:49I don't have a. Problem with that?
- 1:45:51Like like yeah, I don't know why.
- 1:45:54Like at the end, like when you're gonna have for drinks,
- 1:45:56you can see people who have the medals on.
- 1:45:58I'm like, ah, fair play both. The day after that, yeah, no,
- 1:46:01they don't bring into work the next day let's them like for the
- 1:46:06day that's in it. You can.
- 1:46:08If you run the full team, I don't agree.
- 1:46:10What? That LA Martin don't given the
- 1:46:11mail for like 18 miles, which is just yeah, not on for I think if
- 1:46:17you're around the marathon like it is, it's some achievement
- 1:46:19like 42 K like it is crazy distance.
- 1:46:22And so yeah, let them wear it. Let them.
- 1:46:28I wouldn't. But Dean, yeah.
- 1:46:32You already know my. Have you?
- 1:46:38Have you worn yours out ever? No, but I wouldn't lie.
- 1:46:43But that's not. But what I I don't run a.
- 1:46:46Marathon to complete a marathon. I run a marathon for
- 1:46:50performance, whereas a lot of people it's it's the
- 1:46:53accomplishment of a marathon. So, OK, fair.
- 1:47:00Well, I thought it fit nicely in the double trouble.
- 1:47:02Category and thought I'd get it out there.
- 1:47:05That's good. That's just stupid.
- 1:47:09I should have gone. Harder like you're.
- 1:47:10Going to do a. Double trouble.
- 1:47:12Just fucking. Own it and RIP into someone.
- 1:47:15Yeah, you're stop apologizing. Very mild.
- 1:47:19Yeah, it's a. Mesa of a double trouble in
- 1:47:22double trouble going to Nando's and getting like.
- 1:47:28Barbecue. Sauce can't even complete a
- 1:47:33double. Trouble I'm aware of myself.
- 1:47:38It's because you're back running.
- 1:47:40Yeah, you lost. That edge?
- 1:47:42Too many endorphins. Floating around.
- 1:47:45Clearly, I mean did the one that floated.
- 1:47:48To you offline, that would have. Yeah, no, I'm glad you went with
- 1:47:52what you want. Me so.
- 1:47:58I reckon that could be us. Anyone got any last thoughts,
- 1:48:00comments. Podcasts.
- 1:48:04Just some good racing coming up this week.
- 1:48:06So I'm excited to see what that Melbourne.
- 1:48:07Meet does and yeah, can't wait for like April.
- 1:48:11I feel like it's a big marathon month.
- 1:48:13And so yeah, it's excited to see how like you're following all
- 1:48:16these different journeys on YouTube, even like Ben felt and
- 1:48:19doing Berlin next week. You're just following all these
- 1:48:22journey that's exciting to see like what the people can do.
- 1:48:26That's a good shout actually. Oh, unlike in terms of because
- 1:48:29like there's a lot of. These content creators that are.
- 1:48:31About to crescendo into races. So it is a it's not it feels,
- 1:48:35because we talk about like the top end of the sport and like
- 1:48:37how shit it is with doping news, whereas I feel like this part of
- 1:48:41the sport is actually the most fun bit.
- 1:48:44It's good, isn't it? Often after like the the major
- 1:48:46champs, there's a bit of a low period.
- 1:48:48But no, it's just. Straight into marathon season we
- 1:48:50go again, my fellas. Thank you.
- 1:48:53See you next week. See you guys.
- 1:48:55Thank you guys. Ciao.
- 1:48:56Good luck. Easy double hit, repeat.
- 1:49:01Headphones on where you sit with your feet, Long run, miles of
- 1:49:04the commute Blues. We're right.
- 1:49:05There running alongside you. Easy double, same old crew
- 1:49:09Deanie join Ryan talking and do from the first warm up to the
- 1:49:12final bell. This is easy, double and you're
- 1:49:14doing it well.
