  housing week I guess how has the World of Warcraft been treating

  It's going really well. My dumb idiot self was under the

  impression I heard everyone talk about like gathering lumber to

  do housing stuff. And I was like oh that's so fun.

  I should also gather lumber to do what I'm sure is going to be

  housing specific crafting based on a different housing crafting
• 1:31
  system. And so I spent like an hour and
• 1:34
  a half flying around gathering lumber and then I learned that
• 1:36
  it's only through other crafting things and requires a lot of
• 1:40
  other little things you need to pop in as well.

  So I have a lot of lumber. You can supply the lumber if you
• 1:47
  put on work orders. So if you want to get stuff from
• 1:49
  either Dragonflight or from the War Within supplying the lumber
• 1:55
  in that work order, right, you've got half the job done
• 1:57
  already. So yeah, it's not not worthless.

  That's a fairpoint. I was flying around calendar, so

  I now have a lot of a lot of wood that's not going to be

  We had a patch yesterday that the maintenance went long and

  Blizzard was sorry the maintenance was going and

  Blizzard put in an announcement saying hey this maintenance is

  going to go long. But they had faked us and then
• 2:54
  immediately brought it up right afterwards on time.

  And I got to be honest with the size of the patch that came out

  yesterday and everything that was in it.

  Turbulent time ways, lore walking, the pre patch quest

  line housing. No, I'm OK.

  All this stuff I like to remember all that stuff came out

  and it was a relatively seamless launch.

  Like there was other than some issues with housing early on as
• 3:21
  people were spinning up neighborhoods, there was like no

  major issues. So 10 out of 10.

  Kudos to the Blizzard team for for a very successful 11 point

  2.7 launch. Probably the cleanest,

  especially considered the size that I've seen in a very long

  I feel like Ghost of Koresh was a fairly smooth launch.

  But yeah, let's talk about our first house impressions because

  Alliance or Horde for neighborhood you do.

  We're Guild, my Guild, my Guild neighborhood is Founders Point.

  We're an Alliance Guild so Founders Point we're locked in

  all. Right, Lex, You and Tim O'mar

  Tavern. Also Alliance and aesthetically,

  I, we, we like immediately, once this was all announced, all of

  the officers came together. We're like, we're doing Alliance
• 6:03
  right. So aesthetically, it's magic.

  I am the one hoardy wasn't my it wasn't my pick.

  It was it was the Guild. Of course, again the Guild

  neighborhood. But I am actually surprised how

  beautiful the Horde neighborhood is.

  I did not expect Dicks and mud huts to come together that well,

  but here we are. And so I'm loving the

  waterfalls. I'm loving the like combination

  of things. Nothing like I mean, obviously

  everybody is still stuck on your basic house.

  So you're either human if you're in the Alliance or your orc if

  you're on the Horde. And I am quite looking forward
• 6:44
  to additional options. But how did you guys fare in

  general? Did you like try it out, enjoy

  it? Did you bounce off it quickly?

  Let's start with you Lex, because housing seems more your

  speed. Yeah, so I went in, I built my

  little house. I learned a very important

  lesson from Alpha and I did not get too excited.

  So I have a cute little one bedroom.

  It has a little bathroom off to the side, has a big kitchen, it
• 7:11
  has a huge kitchen. And I went and I decorated all
• 7:13
  that and I was feeling really good and excited.

  And then I went and I looked at the frickin masterpieces that my
• 7:18
  buildings are doing and I am as I'm a casual in this group and
• 7:22
  I'm also a casual in house decorating.
• 7:25
  I and I love my little house, though.
• 7:26
  It's so perfect. It has it's little like dining
• 7:28
  room table. It has a beard kitchen.
• 7:30
  If I mention that the beard kitchen, I really love the
• 7:33
  kitchen. I really I'm, I'm I'm doing wish
• 7:35
  fulfilment here. Everyone else's wish fulfilment
• 7:37
  was like a like hall that you know, for celebrating your
• 7:40
  successes and these beautiful libraries and flowing magical.
• 7:45
  And I'm like, I want a really big kitchen.
• 7:47
  So you know, I'm I'm having having a great oh.

  My goodness, I got to come visit your house.
• 7:52
  Like I get it, you want to hang your, your like, heads of
• 7:58
  defeated enemies and like all the celebration stuff and that.

  But like girl, a good kitchen, fully stocked, Speaking my

  language, Speaking my language. I have so much counter space.

  All right. After this show, I'm going to

  come visit, but we also have Sean.

  Sean, how did you fare in terms of your kitchen core or whatever

  you decided on? Yeah, so I didn't buy my I I

  logged in on Pat Patchmont live. I logged in.

  I did the pre log or prolog quest first.

  Or is it is it an epilogue or is it a prologue?

  Is it the epilogue War within or the prologue war at Midnight?

  They on the official site considered a prologue, so we'll

  call call it prologue. I think just because it is a

  bridge, you could consider it either one.

  Yeah, so I did the prologue quest and then I did the lore
• 8:50
  walking, and then I went into our Guild neighborhood where my
• 8:53
  entire Guild had been spending the last three hours going
• 8:58
  crazy. And I went to my plot that I was
• 9:00
  assigned and I bought my house. And then I logged off and then I
• 9:05
  logged in today and I said I'm just going to go and fly or
• 9:08
  sorry, I did the tutorial, I'm going to go.
• 9:11
  So right now I have a house with four windows inside because you
• 9:15
  have to place 4 items to finish the tutorial.
• 9:18
  So then I went today and I was like, I'm just going to go and
• 9:20
  fly around to all of the vendors and buy all of the things that I
• 9:24
  have so that I know what I have access to.
• 9:26
  And then I'll decide from there what I want to get more of, what
• 9:29
  things I want to double up on for my designs.
• 9:31
  That took 4 hours to hit a lot of the vendors.
• 9:34
  It turns out I don't, I'm not. I can't buy a lot of the stuff
• 9:37
  from the vendors because I didn't play Cataclysm and a lot
• 9:42
  of the the world vendors in Eastern Kingdoms and Calendar
• 9:46
  have requirements. You had to have done quests that
• 9:49
  were revamped in Cataclysm, which I haven't done.
• 9:52
  So I was really only able to get them from like major hub cities,
• 9:56
  Stormwind, etcetera, and from expansions that were from Legion
• 10:02
  and Forward I got from those. But even some of those were
• 10:05
  locked behind achievements that I just don't have.
• 10:08
  So like a lot of achievements that I don't have that I'll,
• 10:12
  I'll never get. So it's just pieces of housing
• 10:13
  I'll never have. And once I had all that stuff
• 10:15
  bought, I logged off again. So I still just have a house
• 10:19
  with four windows inside and zero other decorations added.

  OK. And it's great.

  Well, Sean, it may surprise you to know that your house is more
• 10:32
  decorated than mine. You took your 4 windows down.

  I didn't go with four windows because it started with two
• 10:40
  windows. And then I'm like, well, I'm
• 10:43
  just going to place a box into this corner and that you got to
• 10:46
  pick out those two boxes for the thing.

  I'm like, I'll just throw those back down.

  Perfect work through. Then my friend visited me that I
• 10:55
  had not talked to in a little bit, which is great that you can
• 10:58
  like go to your battle Nets friends list, right click and be
• 11:00
  like go visit their home and then boom, you're right there.
• 11:03
  So I got a message from my friend being like hey, let me
• 11:06
  and your doors locked you idiot. And so I got a impromptu
• 11:11
  tutorial about how to set the permissions from my friend.
• 11:14
  And so he saw it. He was like, oh wow, there
• 11:16
  really is nothing in here. And I'm telling you guys, there
• 11:18
  is nothing in there. There's.
• 11:21
  Boxes. There's two.
• 11:22
  Boxes, yes, there was two boxes. I've picked those up since and I
• 11:29
  didn't do the world tour like Sean.

  I did go to the like the center of town so I could talk to the
• 11:37
  last architect and do his little Riddle, which I was like, oh
• 11:41
  it's a haiku, that's cool and so forth.
• 11:44
  I should do that again today. But yeah, after my friends like
• 11:50
  scoffed it by poorly done place that didn't even have that, you
• 11:55
  know, sofa or mattress in the corner or anything, we went to
• 11:59
  his place and it's much, much more Immaculate and wonderful.

  And then I toured around the neighborhood and going around
• 12:09
  the neighborhood and seeing guildies like just so happened
• 12:14
  to be going by, I think is a hidden gem of this entire thing.

  It really makes my guilt feel like more of a community to
• 12:22
  actually see them doing their thing and seeing their house
• 12:25
  evolve and coming back and being like, oh, they've added this or
• 12:28
  they found this. It's kind of akin to what you've
• 12:33
  been saying, Sean, seeing other people do their like little time
• 12:36
  lapse videos, except it's just like a little check and be like,
• 12:39
  oh, cool, they've added this. I like that a lot.
• 12:43
  So in terms of community, even if I don't like actively push a
• 12:48
  lot of effort into my house, which might change after I deal
• 12:51
  with this kitchen inspiration, I'm glad.

  I'm glad it's in the game for all of the reasons that
• 12:59
  everybody else enjoys it. Especially since on the trailer
• 13:04
  there is a spot where people were getting married.

  They've got an entire fireworks little sabbatical thing where
• 13:15
  you could do all sorts of celebration that that's wild to
• 13:17
  me. I mean they I guess they did

  that in Final Fantasy before weddings.

  Yeah, this is not. Wowhead came out with it and

  people on Twitter I saw immediately proclaimed that this
• 13:29
  was a tease of weddings coming to Warcraft.

  It is 100% not that it is them showing you RP things you can do
• 13:36
  in the neighborhood and the beautiful spots.

  So if you're listening to this, what I, I am telling you 100%

  guaranteed we are not getting in game weddings.

  That is not happening. It is just them showing you fun

  things you can do in the neighbor.

  Cause the neighborhood has a lot of beautiful spots that aren't
• 13:51
  housing plots. And that's what that's what that

  was. But yeah, that was there was a

  whole Wowhead article that spawned off of that, you know,

  is Warcraft teasing weddings. They're well.

  And, and because what are the things that I said was there was

  a commenter who was like, wait, is this you secretly announcing

  weddings and World of Warcraft commented, Well, it's not a

  secret if you say it in the comments.

  And my first thought was like, the marketing team wouldn't let

  them say that if they were actually planning on doing
• 14:14
  weddings. Yeah, yeah.

  It's not to. Be fair, they did an April

  Fool's Day jokes that then turned out to be our next
• 14:22
  expansion because everyone liked it enough.

  So if we like it enough, it's possible that they'll be like,

  actually we are doing weddings. But I I do not believe that

  right now. Anyone has a plan in World of
• 14:30
  Warcraft to do weddings? I mean the the only thing they
• 14:32
  really would need to add is I guess a toy where you open up
• 14:37
  the wedding, the wedding ring or some sort of remote for that.

  But like what? Like what would it what, what

  would it do? Like there's no last name, so

  you don't get the same last name.

  You're not gonna like, what's the ability to teleport?

  Clear do the emotion, the like, go through the motions and be

  like oh wow, and. So adding, adding that toy,

  Yeah, but they're like the the weddings themselves being

  implemented as like a game feature.

  multifunctional. But anyways, I do like

  celebration spaces. I loved back in Mr. Pandaria,

  they had the turtle celebration that you could go to on like I

  think it was like Sunday evenings or something if you

  could catch that. And it did like a little little

  thing. If they add in similar stuff

  with the, I don't know what's something they don't really make

  use of the the micro holidays have that in like reflected in

  neighborhoods. Would be very cool to like add

  in events around town. But yeah, there is of course the

  trailer and there is an interview with the dev, Jay Wang

  and Garth Deangelis that was done by Wow Kia where they're

  talking about like what's next for housing.

  So as they've been saying, this is just the early access once we

  get. There was another one done with

  Taliesin and Nevittel as well. They interviewed two different

  people, Jesse, the guy that is on Twitter, Jesse like the, the

  head, the head housing guy, Jesse and one of the UX people,

  one of the UI people from the the the dev team as well.

  I can't remember her name. So lots of interviews came out

  there, but at least two interviews came out that day,

  which is nice. And there was another one that

  was written in Screen Rant, I think, yes, that had a 20 minute

  build at the end, about 20 minute time lapse built.

  walks around the community. So if you're getting into your

  community, you just moved into a neighborhood, you can ride this

  little bit of time vibe it. I love the neighborhood.

  I will say as a Horde player in an Alliance neighborhood, kind

  of racist, like I don't think I need every single person to

  comment on the fact like, oh, well, I guess everyone has to be

  welcome here. And then like have them throw

  out little comments like make sure you don't make trouble in
• 17:29
  this neighborhood. Like, OK, my man, All right, my

  bad. I'll go back to my damn house.

  So that's. The black and red Tavern fits

  This is why my bathroom right now has patches like that have

  not been painted over because there's just a few more steps

  that I need to do. And the like the amount I'd have

  to do to get it all done is just annoying me.

  And so it's going to take me a bit of time to like build up

  that mental resource and in a video game that's simply never

  going to happen. And I'm simply never going to go

  into my house again. Whereas in my cute little one

  bedroom, I can put it to a point where I'm excited about things.

  And so now I can be like, oh, I have really cute kitchen.

  I want to go focus on the core items that are going to like
• 19:38
  really spice up my kitchen. But I don't feel like I have to

  build an entire library. I am thinking because you get 2

  houses, right? You get your alliance in your
• 19:46
  hoard house. So I might just get an A hoard
• 19:49
  house in a public neighborhood kind of just to play with and

  that I might do a little bit more like I, I'd like to like I,

  I don't know, like a, a very, a specific hall style or something

  and, and see whether I want to go specific fun little ways, but

  without the pressure of like this is the house my guildies

  come with. OK, Sean, now that you've bought

  being at 4 seconds or longer for you to interrupt.

  So if you see a long cast and they're like really

  concentrating on getting that spell off, you know that that's

  something you need to interrupt. There have been videos about how

  this combined with the longer interrupt period, school lock

  period has now made it a lot easier to lock down a single

  caster with one or two people. They've combined that with the
• 51:36
  fact that there are less casters in in the in the packs, which is
• 51:40
  something that I had not seen when I was doing the original
• 51:43
  testing, especially in like pit of Sauron and and such.

  But they've now pulled back on that.

  And that means that with the reduced casters with certain
• 51:55
  things now being changed. So we don't get what has been

  coined by the community community as bolt slop, which is

  something casting and then casting and then casting.

  And the only difference between it and like an Archer is that

  you can't interrupt the Archer. That being heavily reduced in

  terms of not only how many there are, but also the amount of

  damage. In fact, like it's you're

  looking at like a 20 to 30% damage reduction.

  You combine that again with the fact that casters are less

  likely to prefer the same target, which means the damage

  is getting spread out, meaning that you're not looking at

  suddenly going from like 100 to everything targeting you.

  And Oh my goodness, I you better have like a defensive or five

  interrupts or that that particular guy is dead.

  All of this means that like individual casters are less

  deadly by default damage, less frequent in terms of casting

  right, less common in terms of how often they are showing up in

  in dungeons. And I think that this is going

  to influence the way that people are pulling where you can pull

  some large packs, but what you might be conscious off is how

  many casters are in each of those packs.

  So instead of pulling let's say 5 packs each with two casters,

  you say why don't we go this way and pull 5 packs, but only two

  of them have casters. And then with only four casters,

  hey, we don't have a healer that can interrupt because we don't

  have a shaman because special, special shaman, we can actually
