- 0:00Get laced up. Let's go! It's time for Banner with the Boys.
- 0:13Welcome back to Banner with the Boys gridiron updates.
- 0:20Obviously, I'm Smelty and with me I got a new face up here actually.
- 0:23Hey buddy.
- 0:24Rob, let's just go ahead and introduce you immediately to our faithful following.
- 0:29I am Rob. I am joining this excited football season. It's finally here.
- 0:34I can't wait. We're early August so we're gonna get a little preseason show going on.
- 0:39For sure.
- 0:39So obviously a Vikes fan.
- 0:41Yes sir. Been a Vikings fan my whole life.
- 0:43Jack's a box for me.
- 0:45We'll get along real nice but until we disagree about something.
- 0:48Which I'm curious if we'll get into immediately this episode.
- 0:52But before we even go any further into talking about the NFL and how
- 0:57gridiron updates is gonna go for us this season.
- 1:00We do want to mention that this episode is actually again brought to you by the Cappy.
- 1:06Your little device here that helps open the can.
- 1:11And then you can flip it around as Rob is showing us here.
- 1:15Opens the can. You can flip it around and cover that hole again.
- 1:19Just like that. Just in case you're, who knows, maybe outside fishing.
- 1:23Something like that. Drinking a soda or something and got it covered.
- 1:27So no mosquitoes, whatever.
- 1:29In the campground, on the boat, anything like that.
- 1:32Something like this is gonna come in real handy.
- 1:34Even if you're at your local watering hole.
- 1:37Slide it right over here. Identifies it's yours.
- 1:40Covers it up.
- 1:41Comes in multiple colors. Why don't you tell them where they can get it Rob?
- 1:44Amazon. You can get your four pack right here.
- 1:47And yes you can find it.
- 1:50You can get it somewhere. A stocking gift or something like that.
- 1:53Oh dude, stocking stuff are a great idea.
- 1:55Obviously the holidays are coming up.
- 1:57And obviously don't forget that it does indeed have a hole right.
- 2:01So you can put it right on your keychain actually.
- 2:04So there's one for me. The Cappy. All loud and proud.
- 2:07But I always have one on me.
- 2:09Exactly.
- 2:10I'm good to go.
- 2:11With that, let's head right into kind of our preseason preview.
- 2:25And starting off right away with the preseason preview.
- 2:28Obviously we're both Vikings fans.
- 2:31So we have to start with the NFC North.
- 2:34And we will be starting with our Vikings.
- 2:36But the idea here is that we're gonna kind of go division by division.
- 2:39Maybe mention a couple things about each team.
- 2:42And then kind of give our prediction on how they will finish in that division.
- 2:48We're not gonna get crazy with it unless you got crazy with it Rob.
- 2:51You never know yet.
- 2:52So I'm not gonna say any records for the teams.
- 2:56But yeah let's just head right into the Vikes man to be honest.
- 3:01So what, I don't know. Just tell me your feelings right now.
- 3:05Well it's gotta be a good vibes coming off. The draft is here.
- 3:08We finally possibly got our franchise quarterback.
- 3:11We did get some bad news today.
- 3:13We thought.
- 3:14Menesas Ter.
- 3:16Probably two to four weeks.
- 3:18They're maybe talking by the beginning of the season he might be back.
- 3:21But he's been a really nice addition.
- 3:24And we also stole Dallas Turner late in the draft.
- 3:27That was a steal.
- 3:28Which his dip and move around the corner.
- 3:31I think he's gonna be a real threat with Brian Flores' defense this year.
- 3:35A great replacement for Denil Hunter.
- 3:38And honestly I don't even know Denil's numbers last year.
- 3:43Do you recall those off the top of your noggin?
- 3:45Yeah I think he was.
- 3:46I feel like he was a little bit non-existent.
- 3:48A little bit. I think he was coming off a little bit of injury coming through a preseason like that.
- 3:53He plays the opposite side that Hunter's side.
- 3:57So he's gonna be more of a blind side rusher.
- 3:59Where Denil was more of against the right tackle.
- 4:04So he'll bring a little bit.
- 4:06Plus we have some new additions.
- 4:08We got so many done defense.
- 4:12We're idiots.
- 4:14Denil Hunter at 16 and a half sacks.
- 4:16Oh well.
- 4:17Non-existent.
- 4:18So that just shows you already we're off to a hot start.
- 4:21Very hot start.
- 4:22I don't know.
- 4:23I just felt like he wasn't as in the play as he normally is.
- 4:28But I mean at 16 and a half sacks that's probably top five and then a foul I'd imagine.
- 4:32True but I feel like I got a vibe from him.
- 4:34Like a lot of his sacks came in like not in the crunch time.
- 4:37So like a lot of his 16 numbers where when we needed him at the end of the game to close out a game.
- 4:44I felt like that's where he was slacking a little bit.
- 4:47And either way you got to replace a guy like that.
- 4:49You do.
- 4:50And same with we lost DJ Wanam as well.
- 4:52And he had eight sacks.
- 4:54Which was more than I also thought he had.
- 4:56So I was actually hoping we'd keep DJ but what a replacement in Dallas Turner.
- 5:00What about the rest of the draft?
- 5:02How do you feel about the rest of Kwesi's draft?
- 5:04Well we didn't have a second round.
- 5:06We got the guy from Oklahoma that sadly was in a car accident here earlier in this year.
- 5:11Was it Oregon? I thought it was Oregon.
- 5:12Oregon.
- 5:13Yeah yeah yeah.
- 5:14And so Jackson.
- 5:16Yeah so Jackson.
- 5:17Rest in peace.
- 5:18Sorry to hear that.
- 5:19So hope him and his family and everything are recovering from that.
- 5:24The Wills did come out and pay out the rest of his signing bonus.
- 5:28It was a nice touch.
- 5:29Did they really?
- 5:30Yeah.
- 5:31I didn't see that.
- 5:32And then they ended up paying for his whole funeral cost.
- 5:34So the Vikings organization really came through the clutch in that moment there for the family.
- 5:40So depth on the corner back.
- 5:42That was one of the things that really hurts.
- 5:45We did have Gilmore come in yesterday for a visit.
- 5:51Which blows my mind.
- 5:52I didn't even hear that.
- 5:53I know.
- 5:54But he did leave without a contract.
- 5:56So that's got to scare you a little bit.
- 5:58No offense to him.
- 5:59But we're really going to send Duke Shelley out there?
- 6:03He did great for us a number of years back right?
- 6:05He did.
- 6:06He's bouncing around for a reason right?
- 6:08I think the fan base.
- 6:09No offense to you Duke.
- 6:10If you're around watching the banter you might as well hop on the show.
- 6:13Yeah you totally can.
- 6:14Yeah I think he's more of that nickel.
- 6:16I mean we have Evans on the outside with.
- 6:19Who didn't look horrible in the preseason.
- 6:21He's shaky.
- 6:22Yeah and then we have still Byron Murphy coming back.
- 6:25And then Shaquille Griffin who's got a lower body injury.
- 6:29Yeah he didn't play preseason game.
- 6:30Didn't play preseason right now.
- 6:31And Blackman is done for the year.
- 6:34But we still got Bynum and Smith on the backside.
- 6:38For a good experience.
- 6:40We have Martellus running around.
- 6:43I like him.
- 6:44Our linebackers.
- 6:46We got some upgrades from.
- 6:49What's his last name?
- 6:50Van Ginkle.
- 6:51Van Ginkle and Green.
- 6:54Grenard.
- 6:55Grenard.
- 6:56So yeah I got to learn all these new defensive names.
- 6:58I think it's Grenard.
- 6:59On that side of the ball with Brian Flores in his unique place calling.
- 7:05It should be interesting.
- 7:06I'm glad he's sticking with us.
- 7:08I thought he might have had one head coaching job but I can't remember if he did or not.
- 7:12I thought he had one and he decided to stay but I could be making that up to make myself feel better.
- 7:17But I do love having Brian Flores here.
- 7:20And then on the offensive side adding Aaron Jones to the running game.
- 7:25To replace Alexander Madison which is a huge upgrade.
- 7:30I don't remember the amount of fumbles he had.
- 7:33Too many early on.
- 7:35And I thought he was going to be money and a great replacement for Dalvin.
- 7:39Because he was a great one too to Dalvin.
- 7:41And kind of this thunder and lightning as our host from last season Tyler would like to mention.
- 7:46Thunder and lightning.
- 7:47I mean great.
- 7:50I don't know is that called an analogy?
- 7:52Yes.
- 7:53Great analogy.
- 7:54Way to break it down there Salty.
- 7:56Yeah breaking it down.
- 7:57But I don't want to spend too much longer in the Vikings.
- 7:59We got a lot of teams we want to actually discuss.
- 8:02I do just want to ask you one more question.
- 8:04Sam Darnold.
- 8:05Obviously you mentioned JJ McCarthy going down with the Meniscus.
- 8:08But how do you actually feel about Sam Darnold?
- 8:11I coach with a guy that told me he's going to be a top ten quarterback this year.
- 8:14I disagree but it's close.
- 8:16It's close.
- 8:17I mean I would definitely say top 15 with just the weapons we have.
- 8:20With Jefferson on the outside.
- 8:23You got second year Addison coming back.
- 8:26JJ Hockenson is coming off.
- 8:30Who we don't have for like six weeks.
- 8:32He's coming off the knee injury.
- 8:33So I think he's on the Publist for four weeks.
- 8:35So that's going to be a little bit to replacement.
- 8:38But I'm excited with enough weapons of Naylor, Powell.
- 8:43I love Naylor.
- 8:44I hope he gets his shot.
- 8:45I really hope he finally gets his shot.
- 8:47Be the number three and see what happens.
- 8:49Then on the offensive line we re-signed Darryl Sal for extension.
- 8:55Second best left tackle in the game.
- 8:57Exactly.
- 8:58So our outside is the two tackles are all pro level.
- 9:02The inside with Bradbury.
- 9:05He's had a little trouble last year against those big tackles that really pushed him back.
- 9:11He was up and down last year.
- 9:12The year before was bad.
- 9:13The year before that was great.
- 9:15So I'd say last year was at least better than the year he had before.
- 9:18But I agree with you.
- 9:19He still kind of struggles with those bigger boys.
- 9:22Yeah, I agree with that.
- 9:23And then on that, we run more of like that zone running game too.
- 9:27So his athletic ability helps in it.
- 9:29But in that the pass pro is that's where I think PFF would really downgrade him to a different level.
- 9:38So I don't know.
- 9:39Do we want to wait until we go through every team in the division and then give where they're going to finish?
- 9:43Or do we just want to say where they're going to finish in the division when we're done wrapping them?
- 9:48We could go either way.
- 9:50I think we just go through the division.
- 9:52We'll kind of break down where we think the records will fill in after that if that works for you.
- 9:56Sure, sure.
- 9:57So we'll just move right along.
- 9:58All right.
- 9:59Let's move to the Packers.
- 10:00Oh, the Packers.
- 10:01We're going to have Packer fans at least one.
- 10:04There's another guy that's a half Packer fan somehow while also being a Ravens fan.
- 10:09He'll probably light me up for that when he finally joins our show as a guest.
- 10:14But the Packers, man.
- 10:17Jordan Love.
- 10:18I mean, signed a big deal.
- 10:21He did sign a big deal.
- 10:22So is it going to be worth it?
- 10:25Have you seen enough from Jordan Love that you would give him that deal if he was a Viking?
- 10:31I think they were forced kind of their hand on that because they signed him a two-year deal on a restructure prior to that.
- 10:37And after the beginning of the year, it looked like maybe that was the right call to do a two-year.
- 10:42But that second half, he absolutely was on fire.
- 10:47He was from Watson to Romeo Dow and Reed.
- 10:53And they...
- 10:56I'm over Christian Watson.
- 10:57You're over Christian Watson?
- 10:58I'm over Christian Watson.
- 10:59You think they were?
- 11:00I like Reed.
- 11:01I like Jayden Reed.
- 11:02I like Romeo Dobbs, but I like Jayden Reed.
- 11:04But I don't know, man.
- 11:06How many games did Watson even play last year?
- 11:10I think it was about nine he played.
- 11:12That's what I'm talking about.
- 11:13And then the year before, I think it was 12.
- 11:14So this is coming on his third year.
- 11:16So he hasn't had a full 17 games, which is always a concern for any player.
- 11:22Especially your number one slotted receiver.
- 11:26Do you think he's a true number one?
- 11:28I know that was a conversation we had last year, but you're new, so I want your opinion.
- 11:31I think he's a solid two.
- 11:32Solid two.
- 11:33Yeah, I don't think he...
- 11:35He's more of that downfield threat versus that possession.
- 11:38Third down, we need four yards.
- 11:41For sure. He's for sure still a downfield threat.
- 11:43He's just got to get a little bit more of that separation.
- 11:45He just...
- 11:46I don't know.
- 11:47I don't know.
- 11:48He did play nine games last year.
- 11:49Good call.
- 11:50And the year before that, 14.
- 11:51So hopefully we see progress in that sense, right?
- 11:55Anything you want to mention about the Packers defense?
- 11:58They lost a little bit on the defensive side, but I think their overall talent on that side of the ball is going to be least in the middle of the NFL for defensive.
- 12:10And with the amount of points the offense can possibly put up, I don't know how good that defense really needs to be.
- 12:17So it's all on Jordan Love's shoulders, whether he's that second half player or is he that first half player that we saw last year.
- 12:28For sure.
- 12:29But if they have three Hall of Fame and quarterbacks in a row, it's going to be...
- 12:33They've got to be doing something right.
- 12:34They've got to be doing something right.
- 12:35He sat for a while and now, yeah, like you said, the second half, I don't know.
- 12:39I don't know.
- 12:40I think the NFC North is going to be tough.
- 12:42It's going to be very tough.
- 12:43And with that, let's head into Detroit, who won the division last year.
- 12:49So if we have any Detroit fans that are actually watching us, they're probably upset that we're waiting until third to talk about Detroit.
- 12:56But they're for real.
- 12:58They're for real.
- 12:59I think they could win the division again, if I'm being honest.
- 13:02I haven't projected probably winning it because their offensive line is probably the one of the best in the NFL.
- 13:08So with that running game between Montgomery and second year, now Gibbs running, that creates that play.
- 13:14Hamstring injury today.
- 13:15Oh, did he get a hamstring?
- 13:16Yeah.
- 13:17I don't know if it was today, but it was recently.
- 13:19But I think he'll be ready for week one.
- 13:21Yeah.
- 13:22But once you can run the ball and play action, that opens it up for all the receivers they have.
- 13:27Amon Ra.
- 13:28Amon Ra.
- 13:29Is Williams still there?
- 13:31Jamison?
- 13:32Yeah, Jamison Williams.
- 13:33Yeah, because the Vikings gave it to him in the draft.
- 13:35And then you got Laporte.
- 13:37Oh, man.
- 13:38They're not missing T.J. Hawkinson.
- 13:39No, not at all.
- 13:40To be honest with you, Laporte is great.
- 13:42Yeah, and he came in cheaper as a rookie contract, too.
- 13:45For sure.
- 13:46And then on the defensive side of the ball, they didn't really lose anybody.
- 13:50And as a football fan, you got to really like what Dan Campbell's doing up there.
- 13:55I like his style of play, his attitude, his approach to the game.
- 13:59He's just kind of one of the boys that you'd want to have a couple beers with and talk football.
- 14:05He definitely has that vibe to him, doesn't he?
- 14:07Yeah, he does.
- 14:09Dan Campbell.
- 14:11Let's head to Chicago with the Bears.
- 14:15Obviously, the biggest story with Chicago has got to be Caleb Williams, other than just I feel like there's always drama surrounding the Bears the last couple seasons of some sort, right?
- 14:26They're trying to figure out if they're going to stay in downtown Chicago with their stadium next to the river there, whatever, like Lake, sorry.
- 14:34Lake Michigan?
- 14:35Yeah, Lake.
- 14:37Before the Chicago Faith will kill me.
- 14:39But they were talking about moving the stadium in some suburb or whatever.
- 14:45Now, obviously drafting Caleb Williams, that comes with at least a little bit of baggage, whether you want to admit that or not.
- 14:51There's some sort of baggage there, you know what I mean?
- 14:53Just a wee bit, right?
- 14:55So what was your first, did you happen to catch any of Caleb's first game?
- 15:00Yeah, I watched his first quarter of him.
- 15:02I watched him play at USC a few times last year, and the last six games he just didn't look like the number one overall draft pick, even though he has the skill sets there.
- 15:12He got a little happy with his feet, I felt like, a lot and tried to extend plays, which, you know, in the NFL, everyone's a little bit faster, the windows are a little bit tighter.
- 15:21So it'll be seen that adjustment.
- 15:24He made a couple really decent throws in the first preseason game, and he's got the skill set with those feet and legs.
- 15:30Yeah, for sure. You mentioned the feet, and I liked some of his pocket presence, you know, you could feel that pressure a little bit.
- 15:36I mean, the dude's got a freaking cannon.
- 15:38Yeah, he does.
- 15:40And I mean, I don't want to say I have a problem with his attitude.
- 15:43To be a professional, I never was. Newsflash, newsflash.
- 15:49But like, to be a professional, you've got to be a little bit cocky and humble at the same time.
- 15:53He just seems like he trends a little bit more on the cockiness side.
- 15:57Would that bother you at all?
- 15:58Should that bother the Bears?
- 16:00Obviously, they took them, but does that bother you at all?
- 16:03Do you think it'll just be an adjustment period and then it'll kind of go away a little bit?
- 16:08I think it's all about what the guys in the locker room think of them at the end of the day.
- 16:11If they want to be behind them and, you know, going through the proverbial brick wall for a guy.
- 16:18I think that leadership skills is there.
- 16:21And they also don't forget they got to have the ninth pick with Romeo Dobbs, too.
- 16:25So that's been a really nice addition.
- 16:28Not Dobbs.
- 16:29Not Dobbs, but...
- 16:30I can't even say his name. I don't want to butcher it.
- 16:32Let's go Rome. It's Rome.
- 16:34Rome, the receiver out of Washington, right?
- 16:37And they paired him up with DJ Moore, who came over there from the Panthers deal.
- 16:44And then also they signed Keaton Allen.
- 16:47And I'm a big Chargers fan, if you guys listened last year as well.
- 16:50That sucked.
- 16:51To go to the North. Come on.
- 16:53So addition with him, that was a really nice...
- 16:57And then they also...
- 16:58He's got something left on the tank.
- 16:59Oh, he does.
- 17:00And if you guys are watching it all on Amazon, they're doing the hard knocks.
- 17:05Pre-Sea.
- 17:06Oh, for the Bears.
- 17:07For the Bears right now.
- 17:08I was checking that out last night.
- 17:11So I think they got pretty good vibes going on in that Chicago area right now.
- 17:15So if I was a Bears fan, I'm feeling pretty good about where you're at.
- 17:20I feel like there's a future now.
- 17:21I see a lot of memes that Bears fans feel awesome for the first six, seven weeks of the season.
- 17:27And then everybody's wives get their man back because the Bears are crapping out again.
- 17:32Yeah, and they also picked up Swift as the running back.
- 17:36I think that was nice.
- 17:38I think they missed David Montgomery, but I think that's nice.
- 17:41So I think in that aspect, on the offensive side, we'll see.
- 17:47It's the growing pains of a rookie quarterback.
- 17:51It's seeing the window and believing in yourself and making the throw versus hesitating.
- 17:56And that's typically what will get them in trouble.
- 18:00This North is a tough division.
- 18:02That's what I'm saying.
- 18:03I think this North is going to be a lot tougher division than we've seen in the past couple years.
- 18:07I think the Bears are going to be much more competitive.
- 18:09They finished the season fairly strong.
- 18:13So who's winning the North for you?
- 18:16Right now I have the Lions first, second, Vikings, third, Packers, fourth Bears.
- 18:29But I think between the bottom three, they're all going to be in the 500 range from nine to seven.
- 18:36Nine and eight to eight and nine in there.
- 18:38And I'm probably predicting the Lions about 11 and six record.
- 18:44Where do you have the Vikes? Like right behind them at 10?
- 18:47Yeah, nine and eight actually.
- 18:49I think it's going to be a tight.
- 18:52For scheduling, the first half is...
- 18:56But it's going to be a tight division.
- 18:59I think they're going to beat up on each other a little bit.
- 19:01And like any NFL sport, your best ability is your availability.
- 19:05Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I'm going to go Lions, Packers actually.
- 19:10Ugh, I hate to do it.
- 19:12Vikings and then Bears, no offense to the Bears.
- 19:14I think they're going to have a much better season.
- 19:16But I think it's stepping stones for the Bears.
- 19:19They're going to progressively get better.
- 19:21Hopefully the Vikings don't progressively go backwards.
- 19:24I think it will be a tough season for the Vikings.
- 19:26If the Packers beat the Vikings in the standings, I think it'll be by a win.
- 19:29Maybe two. I think it'd be close.
- 19:31Yeah, it's pretty rare for a rookie quarterback to come into the NFL and have above 500.
- 19:37C.J. Stroud is one of the first in a long time that's had a really productive rookie season like that.
- 19:45So it'll be interesting to see how he plays, love plays.
- 19:51And then the only thing on the Detroit is Jared Goff.
- 19:55Do you trust him enough to be that next step kind of guy?
- 20:01They made the playoffs last year.
- 20:03Have to.
- 20:04Do they have the deep run?
- 20:06Are they better than the 49ers? Are they better than the Eagles?
- 20:09See, those are all different conversations.
- 20:12I don't think they're better than the 49ers.
- 20:14But we have to move on. Have to move on.
- 20:18We're already a little bit behind because obviously we love the NFC North.
- 20:21We think it's going to be very close and the Vikings play in the NFC North.
- 20:24Welcome to the Viking show.
- 20:27NFC East. Let's not spend too much time on these.
- 20:31But New York Giants. What are they looking like this year?
- 20:34They lost Barkley. They drafted a...
- 20:54Malik, neighbors from LSU.
- 20:58And he looks like a dog.
- 21:00He was probably one.
- 21:02He was the one throwing hands in practice though, right?
- 21:05Yeah, he's got a little bit of attitude.
- 21:07Yeah.
- 21:08But next to Marvin Harrison Jr. coming out, I thought he was...
- 21:12Those two are like one and two in my book for top receivers and rookies.
- 21:16So I think that's going to help them.
- 21:20Losing Barkley is going to be a big loss for them.
- 21:23Are we going to see anything that we don't already know from Daniel Jones?
- 21:28That's the part.
- 21:29Danny Dimes.
- 21:30Danny Dimes, is he the quarterback against the Vikings in the playoffs or is he...
- 21:35Oh God.
- 21:36Exactly how he was last year.
- 21:37I hated that game.
- 21:38Yeah, it was very tough. But that game paid him.
- 21:41So he got paid hard.
- 21:43He did. He did.
- 21:44So I did watch a little bit of the Hard Knocks preseason of the Giants.
- 21:48And they debated back and forth a little bit on whether they wanted to move up for one of the top three quarterbacks.
- 21:55You did get that feeling that they were thinking about it.
- 21:57Yeah. And I think if the Patriots weren't so dedicated on needing a quarterback that we might have seen...
- 22:04They would have made a move.
- 22:05They would have made a move.
- 22:06Whether it was them or the Vikings, they probably would have been the top two teams.
- 22:10The Vikings wanted Drake May, allegedly.
- 22:12I kind of wanted Drake May, too.
- 22:14Oh God. That's another... We'll table that.
- 22:16We'll table that. We'll bring that up.
- 22:20Yeah, defensively, I don't know.
- 22:23They got one of the best D-tackles in football there.
- 22:27Yay. Other than the commanders in the division, I think they're worse defensively than the Eagles and Cowboys.
- 22:33Both. I don't know.
- 22:35I would agree with you there.
- 22:37And what did they end up finishing last year, the Giants?
- 22:40They were...
- 22:42As you bring that up, I can't remember.
- 22:44Because it was definitely ran by the Eagles and Cowboys.
- 22:48Yeah, it was.
- 22:49America's team.
- 22:50America's team. America.
- 22:51You know why they were called America's team?
- 22:55Because everybody could watch them on Thanksgiving?
- 22:57I mean, pretty much.
- 22:58It was because they were the most available team to watch on TV.
- 23:02I don't have any of the years. I wasn't around.
- 23:04But that is why they were called America's team.
- 23:06That's basically why they were America's team.
- 23:08They were the most televised at the time.
- 23:12So let me just pull up the record real quick.
- 23:16So yeah, the Giants were 6-11.
- 23:19I could see a repeat.
- 23:21So yeah, I'd see them finishing it there.
- 23:24I'll give them 7-1s.
- 23:26And we can move on to the Commanders.
- 23:28They were the bottom dwellers.
- 23:30But they draft Jaden Daniels.
- 23:32He looks like a legit NFL color.
- 23:36He's poised, ready to go.
- 23:39He's so accurate.
- 23:41He's like...
- 23:42If you watch any of his tape, his accuracy might have been the best
- 23:46out of all the quarterbacks in the draft this year.
- 23:48I wouldn't have minded him coming to the Vikes, to be honest with you.
- 23:52I think Drake May would have fit KOC's scheme better.
- 23:56But again, I'm going down a rabbit hole that we cannot go down.
- 23:59How do you feel about the hiring of Dan Quinn?
- 24:02See, that's the tough part, though.
- 24:04You draft a quarterback on a high like that,
- 24:06and then you have a defensive quarterback coach come in.
- 24:10And if you look at past scenarios like that,
- 24:15where a brand-new quarterback is with a defensive-minded head coach,
- 24:21they typically don't do very well.
- 24:24And you get started in scenarios where, like a Sam Donald,
- 24:27who was in a bad situation with a coach that was defensive, too,
- 24:31that just nothing really fit, and nothing really worked out for him.
- 24:36It's a matchup to keep an eye on,
- 24:38because it does matter to have a good head coach with a good quarterback.
- 24:42I mean, that matchup matters.
- 24:43Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, I mean, Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes,
- 24:46that relationship matters.
- 24:48So I think that is a great point to bring up.
- 24:50And the commanders are probably one of the worst defenses in the NFL.
- 24:53Yeah, we don't even need to talk about them.
- 24:56They're going to be struggling.
- 24:57If they're not putting up 30-plus points,
- 25:00they're going to be struggling for wins, in my opinion.
- 25:03So let's just head...
- 25:06I hate this team.
- 25:07Actually, I hate both of these next teams.
- 25:09Which one do you hate worse?
- 25:11I hate it. Ooh, they're pretty up there.
- 25:14We need to find a fan of both to have them on.
- 25:17But let's talk about Philly first.
- 25:21I think they will have a little bounce-back season this year.
- 25:26I still like Jaylen Hertz as a quarterback, personally.
- 25:30I do. With their weapons and stuff, they started off...
- 25:33Were they eight and one, I think-ish?
- 25:35They were really hot.
- 25:36To start, and then they just fell off.
- 25:38Their secondary got in a lot of injuries, and they just couldn't stop anything.
- 25:43And they were just trailing behind.
- 25:45And I feel like that's when Jaylen had to start forcing the ball a little bit downfield.
- 25:50I also don't think he was healthy.
- 25:52To me, I remember saying it, I think he was dealing with a knee injury almost all season.
- 25:57It just seemed like he wasn't 100% at any point this season.
- 26:00Like, something happened early on.
- 26:02I think the Vikings game week, too, I think.
- 26:04I think that's when he might have tweaked it.
- 26:05I think something was wrong, and he was still playing through something.
- 26:09But I think we'll see a better Jaylen Hertz.
- 26:11I think the defense is going to be rejuvenated.
- 26:13I mean, every team is rejuvenated.
- 26:15Everybody's, for the most part, healthy right now.
- 26:17There's definitely some injuries out there.
- 26:20They've got Barkley now.
- 26:22So, in addition to him, running their RPOs is going to be really interesting.
- 26:27I would still like to see at least Barkley getting 20 carries or 20 touches.
- 26:31You have to.
- 26:33Or, at least, if you're not getting 20 carries, maybe it's like 13, 15,
- 26:39and then you got him out on five pass plays or something.
- 26:41Just get the ball in his hands.
- 26:42He can make plays in the open field.
- 26:44He can.
- 26:45You just got to get the ball in his hands.
- 26:46But Jaylen's not a dump down kind of quarterback.
- 26:48He likes to throw, he likes to air out.
- 26:50Or he's pulling it himself.
- 26:52That is true.
- 26:54But yeah, he needs at least 20 touches to take the pressure off of him throwing the ball down the field all the time.
- 27:01I would imagine that's why they brought him in.
- 27:03But I don't know.
- 27:04It's not like Swift was that horrible either.
- 27:07I think Barkley's an upgrade though, for sure.
- 27:09It's an upgrade, but if you think about the upgrade of, like,
- 27:12is their offensive mind going to change between Barkley and Swift?
- 27:15Are they going to still only?
- 27:17I don't think so.
- 27:18Because Swift was only going to see him at 10, 12 times, maybe 15.
- 27:22That's what I mean.
- 27:23I think it could be similar though.
- 27:24You might just get a couple more, maybe another yard or two out of it.
- 27:29But I think they're still going to try to use Barkley in their passing game too.
- 27:32And they still got one of the best lines.
- 27:34Even losing Jason Kelsey is a big loss for them in the center of their line.
- 27:38But they still got tackles, Lane Johnson and stuff like that.
- 27:43There we go.
- 27:44Their secondary is the thing that they really needed to change up and be better than they were last year.
- 27:51For sure.
- 27:52Let's talk about the Cowboys.
- 27:54America's team.
- 27:55America's team.
- 27:57Just go for it. You look like you had something you wanted to say right off the rip.
- 28:01Well, with Dak, I always feel like they're going to be competitive.
- 28:05I'm worried about their running game a little bit and then whether they side CD-LAM.
- 28:09If they spent a few weeks in a contract issue with him.
- 28:15What do you think about that situation?
- 28:17Like, if it drags on and on and on, who does that wear on more, the organization or the player?
- 28:24Or both, right?
- 28:25It could be both, where they started burning bridges between each other's relationship.
- 28:31And then, I mean, receiver are typical divas anyway.
- 28:35There's that point, right?
- 28:37If you can't feed their egos at all, next thing you know, they want out.
- 28:41I do like Dak though.
- 28:43I think eventually I want to say he's going to get over that playoff hump.
- 28:47I really do.
- 28:48But I just, he keeps proving me wrong.
- 28:52Jerry came out yesterday and said some nice things about CD-LAM.
- 28:57So I think that they're trying to rebuild that bridge in communication.
- 29:02What did he say?
- 29:03He just said that he had some comments a couple weeks ago.
- 29:05I thought he wasn't in a hurry.
- 29:07It wasn't a hurry, but then yesterday he came out.
- 29:09We're not in a hurry to get you into preseason, but we do miss you.
- 29:14And we're in a WAU for week one.
- 29:16For week one, not 2025 or beyond, you know, so interesting.
- 29:21So, hold Jerry.
- 29:23But I have a feeling Dallas is in a slide a little bit.
- 29:25If I were to start going into the predictions a little bit.
- 29:27Yeah, go for it.
- 29:28What's your predictions for the East?
- 29:29I'm definitely, I'm going to go on the Eagles first.
- 29:31And then I want to see Dallas is going to finish there.
- 29:37And then I'm going to go Giants and Commanders.
- 29:39But I can see Dallas more of a nine and eight team versus a 11 and six team.
- 29:45They were 12 and five last year.
- 29:47Micah Parsons on the defensive side has just been a threat.
- 29:52And if they can, that'll be the one determining is their defense.
- 29:57See, and I agree with the bottom two, 100%.
- 30:00But I'm flipping the other two.
- 30:01I think the Cowboys win the division.
- 30:03I think them losing, what's his name here?
- 30:06I was going to bring him up later.
- 30:07Samuel Williams to an ACL.
- 30:09He's a right end.
- 30:10He's kind of a key rotational player with Micah Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence.
- 30:14So I think that's kind of an L.
- 30:16You've got to have that key rotation guy.
- 30:18But defensively, God forbid Micah goes down or something, key part of that defense.
- 30:25But I just, Dax so good in the regular season.
- 30:29That offense is so good in the regular season.
- 30:31If they played the Vikings today, the Vikings aren't winning.
- 30:35True.
- 30:36You know what I mean?
- 30:37I would probably agree with you there.
- 30:38But who's going to be their running back?
- 30:39That is a problem.
- 30:40You know, with all that's gone now.
- 30:42And they brought back Zeke.
- 30:44But Zeke's a great red zone back.
- 30:48He is, but the reports out of camp is that he barely got anything left in the tank.
- 30:53Really?
- 30:54Yeah.
- 30:55Was it a pity signing?
- 30:56Well, I think, well, they had to sign somebody.
- 31:00With Pollard leaving and they didn't have a number one back, they had to go somebody.
- 31:04He's on top of the depth chart.
- 31:06You can't roll in the season with just Zeke.
- 31:09I'd look for Dallas to make some sort of move.
- 31:12I don't know what that'll be, but I'd look for them to make a move.
- 31:14Let's move on.
- 31:15Obviously, we're spending way too much time here, but we just want you to know we love football as much as you guys do.
- 31:21What's our next division here?
- 31:23NFC South.
- 31:25Rob, let's start with, let's start with the Saints.
- 31:30Who'd add Nation?
- 31:31Who'd add Nation?
- 31:33I'd love to see a game there, by the way.
- 31:35This is a tough division.
- 31:36Not in Vikings college.
- 31:37I think this is probably the worst division in the NFC overall.
- 31:42I don't feel like there's a team that's coming out of there that is a true Super Bowl contender, even with the Falcons getting, Kirk Cousins, excuse me.
- 31:53And their amount of weapons that they have, I see them coming out of this division as the winners.
- 32:00But overall, Saints, Carr, he's a solid player.
- 32:08Kamara's starting to get a little long on the tooth.
- 32:10Chris Alave is still a heel scratcher.
- 32:14So we'll see what side, on the defensive side, I think they're starting to get a little older in the tooth there.
- 32:22Some of those Cam Jordans and stuff like that are starting to get a little bit older.
- 32:26Yep.
- 32:27In his 30s.
- 32:28Yeah, so we'll see what's...
- 32:30Me too soon.
- 32:31So we'll see how they come around with that.
- 32:35How's your feelings on them?
- 32:37On the Saints, they got a lot of work to do.
- 32:40I kind of like what you said.
- 32:41They're kind of aging a little bit on the defensive side of the ball.
- 32:45But I don't think Derek Carr's the guy.
- 32:48I think he keeps proving that.
- 32:52I don't know.
- 32:53I'm not feeling that confident.
- 32:54Is Carr's backup still Jameis Winston or did he go somewhere else?
- 32:59Jameis Winston Cleveland.
- 33:01That's right.
- 33:02That's right.
- 33:03Okay.
- 33:04I wish Jameis would have stayed in New Orleans.
- 33:06I think he would have had...
- 33:07Well, we'll get to Cleveland.
- 33:09Jameis could have a chance there too at some point.
- 33:11But I think he would have had a better chance to start this season in New Orleans.
- 33:15I think at some point, Carr could get the hook.
- 33:17Yeah.
- 33:18To be honest with you.
- 33:19He could.
- 33:20I don't know.
- 33:21I think they definitely are not going to have a great season.
- 33:22Yeah, I'm not too high on them.
- 33:24And then the next team on is, let's say, the Panthers.
- 33:27Yeah, just go for it.
- 33:28Well, they finished 2-15 last year.
- 33:33Bryce Young didn't have a great rookie year.
- 33:36It's really tough for those rookies though to come out with not a lot of weapons.
- 33:41I think he...
- 33:42My bad.
- 33:43Go for it.
- 33:44No, no.
- 33:45Hopefully he comes out with a little better year.
- 33:46Because the talent was there.
- 33:47He showed it in Alabama.
- 33:48For sure.
- 33:49That he could play the football game.
- 33:50It's still there.
- 33:51But, Bryce, the game is still football.
- 33:52You need teammates to come help you.
- 33:54Well, not only that, but I think being a rookie quarterback, you got to give him at least
- 33:58three years.
- 33:59I know that's a long time, NFL, three years.
- 34:01What the average player last five?
- 34:03I think it's less even.
- 34:04Yeah, I think it's less.
- 34:05But I think rookie quarterback, especially drafted that high, and you kind of saw it
- 34:10with Trevor Lawrence.
- 34:11Because at one point, I was like, dude, you got to take Trevor out of the game.
- 34:15And now you see he's finally starting to get it.
- 34:17And then he got his new contract and blah, blah, blah.
- 34:20So I think we'll see something similar with Bryce.
- 34:22I think he just needs a little bit more time to marinate.
- 34:25And then the rest of the team is a dumpster fire, other than Adam Thielam.
- 34:28Yeah.
- 34:29And the tough part for them, they also lost Brian Burns.
- 34:32And then-
- 34:33Yeah, that's a big loss.
- 34:34It is a huge loss.
- 34:35And they traded all their draft picks away to Chicago.
- 34:38So they didn't have much coming new in.
- 34:41So I think it's going to be another tough year for the Panthers.
- 34:45Maybe opening day, the stadium will be over 50% capacity.
- 34:48But I think that might be it.
- 34:51Let's head right into Atlanta.
- 34:53Our boy, Kirkko, went to Atlanta.
- 34:57You wearing the Kirkko chains right now?
- 34:58Yeah, of course.
- 34:59Of course.
- 35:00And then, of course, Atlanta goes ahead and drafts Pennex.
- 35:05Which is the oddest move you can possibly think of as a Falcon Matt.
- 35:09After paying what you paid for Kirk, right?
- 35:12I think Pennex will still be fine.
- 35:15After the rumors of J.J. McCarthy going down today, there's rumors that Atlanta's really
- 35:19liking Pennex over Kirk.
- 35:21So they might cut Kirk.
- 35:22And I'm just like, I don't buy it.
- 35:24But it's an interesting, fun thought that he would come back to Minnesota.
- 35:27But I don't think that's going to happen.
- 35:30Does he take Atlanta to the promised land?
- 35:32No.
- 35:33But does he make them better than they have been?
- 35:34I think so, for sure.
- 35:35I think he's got good leadership.
- 35:37Whether the team buys into that, I have no idea.
- 35:39Like you said earlier, we're not in the locker room.
- 35:43But yeah, what a weird pick right after you sign a quarterback to a bigger deal.
- 35:47Yeah, it's really weird.
- 35:48And they could have used like Dallas Turner.
- 35:49A lot of people had them projected.
- 35:50So they could have really used that.
- 35:52That's fine.
- 35:53Too bad.
- 35:54Too bad.
- 35:55We'll take them.
- 35:56Thank you.
- 35:57Thank you all.
- 35:58Yeah, no doubt.
- 35:59But they have enough weapons.
- 36:00Their first round draft pick, Robinson is running back.
- 36:03And then they got Landon, London, still on the outside.
- 36:07So I think they're going to be the top of the division coming up this year.
- 36:11I'm losing Rondell Moorsucks to an ACL.
- 36:14I liked him in Arizona.
- 36:16That was an addition to Atlanta.
- 36:18Would have helped that receiver room out a little bit.
- 36:20But yeah, I expect Atlanta.
- 36:24I'm not going to get too early in predictions.
- 36:25We still got to talk about Tampa Bay.
- 36:27I expect Atlanta to finish second in that division.
- 36:29No problem.
- 36:30That leads me into Tampa Bay.
- 36:32I think they're taking the division again.
- 36:34I don't think they're going to be anywhere north of 10 wins.
- 36:37But I think they can get to 10.
- 36:39I think they can hit the double digits again and also win the division.
- 36:42They were nine and eight.
- 36:43The tough part is they're going to play the first place schedule now this coming year.
- 36:46So they're going to play the big dogs.
- 36:48So their schedule is going to be tougher than the rest of their division.
- 36:52So what Baker Mayfield do you get this year?
- 36:56Would you get the Bakerfield to pass or was last year a fluke?
- 37:00Not last year was a fluke.
- 37:01Not for me.
- 37:02I'm on the Baker train.
- 37:03You're on the Baker train?
- 37:04I wanted, listen here, if Baker would have been a free agent, I'm saying I would have
- 37:07taken everybody in Minnesota.
- 37:08That's how desperate we were after Kirk was leaving.
- 37:11But I would have taken Baker here in Minnesota in a heartbeat.
- 37:15I like that he's not afraid to stretch the field.
- 37:19Different than what we're used to seeing from Kirk Cousins.
- 37:22But I don't think it's a fluke at all.
- 37:26No, check down Charlie.
- 37:27Did you happen?
- 37:28No, not him.
- 37:29No, no.
- 37:30Not Baker buddy.
- 37:31Not Baker buddy.
- 37:32Did you happen to catch any Baker in college?
- 37:35Yeah, when he was at Colkoma.
- 37:37Oh yeah.
- 37:38That's what last year reminded me of at times.
- 37:41Oklahoma Baker.
- 37:42I was like, okay, this is like Oklahoma Baker, part of first year Cleveland Baker.
- 37:50That's why you're drafted so high.
- 37:51It's just fun to see some of that come back.
- 37:55I've already used the word rejuvenated, but I think Baker's back.
- 38:00I think he'll have a better season this year than say Geno Smith had his season after he
- 38:06got re-signed on that bigger deal after that comeback season.
- 38:10I think what helped for Baker is he spent some time with McVeigh out in the Rams at
- 38:15the end of two years ago.
- 38:17Then he came back with a whole bunch of more confidence.
- 38:20I remember watching that Vikings game with him.
- 38:23This is a different Baker.
- 38:27But they still got Evans.
- 38:28They still got Godwin.
- 38:31They still got some skills.
- 38:33Probably best defense in their division, in the worst division potentially in football
- 38:36right now.
- 38:37I would agree with you there.
- 38:38Yeah.
- 38:39What's your prediction for NFC South?
- 38:40I have them going back.
- 38:42I'm going Falcons, Bucks, Saints and Panthers.
- 38:47Falcons, Bucks, Saints and Packers.
- 38:49Interesting.
- 38:50I agree with the second half again, but I'm flipping Tampa and Atlanta.
- 38:54I think Tampa Bay will still run that division.
- 38:57But yeah, moving right along to the NFC West.
- 39:04Let's start with the Rams.
- 39:07Start with the Rams.
- 39:09You should have Matthew Stafford fully back.
- 39:12Cooper Cupp should be back to full health with a nice rookie fine at Pooka Nakua last
- 39:17year.
- 39:18No doubt.
- 39:19They should be slaying it.
- 39:21Fancy wise, I'm taking both of those guys with a lot of receptions this year.
- 39:28Defense might be one of the worst in the NFL.
- 39:31They don't have Donald anymore.
- 39:34Do you think we're going to get a lot out of Stafford this year?
- 39:36Do you think he's actually 100%?
- 39:37Because he was another one that got banged up kind of earlier and then just nagging.
- 39:41Yeah, didn't he have a shoulder issue at the beginning of the year and it just never really
- 39:45went away?
- 39:46Never really went away.
- 39:47And then Cooper went down.
- 39:49And then it was just, they were just fighting all year to stay healthy and relevant.
- 39:54But they did end up finishing 10 and 7.
- 39:57Somehow.
- 39:58Somehow.
- 39:59So I don't think that's happening.
- 40:00If that's just the weak division or just their schedule came out.
- 40:04Or it's just coaching genius out of McVeigh just finding a way to get it done.
- 40:09Fair enough.
- 40:10Fair enough.
- 40:11Yeah, I don't think the Rams are going to have a great season to be honest with you.
- 40:15I pretty much agree with everything you said.
- 40:17I think it will depend on how healthy Stafford is.
- 40:21Kind of like what we were saying about the Bears too.
- 40:23Or maybe as a Packers I can't remember already.
- 40:25But the offense would have to put up a lot of points for them to have a successful season.
- 40:29I agree.
- 40:30Yeah, they're going to have to be an above 25 points game on offense.
- 40:34So I feel like they're, the reason I would take those guys in fantasy is I think they're
- 40:38going to be playing from behind a lot throughout the game.
- 40:40And just airing it out.
- 40:41Just airing it out constantly.
- 40:42So hey, there you go.
- 40:44Fantasy insight from Rob.
- 40:46Seattle.
- 40:47Seattle Seahawks.
- 40:48Does Geno Smith bounce back?
- 40:51So they got a new coach now.
- 40:52They know that Pete Carroll's gone.
- 40:55Geno, they still got DK Matt Kaepf and Jason.
- 41:02I can't even think of his last name from USC.
- 41:04Two years ago.
- 41:05There was so much talent in that wide receiver room that he didn't get to see the field he
- 41:09was in.
- 41:10Oh, I know who you're talking about.
- 41:11I think that was Ohio State.
- 41:12Oh yeah, Ohio State.
- 41:13Yeah, I know who you're talking about.
- 41:14I don't want to butcher it.
- 41:17Yeah, exactly.
- 41:18But we're working on all the names now.
- 41:20We've had you for five months off.
- 41:22You can't remember everything.
- 41:25But you still got what I like about Seattle, defensively, they're always going to have
- 41:30that crowd behind them no matter what.
- 41:31Seattle fans are extremely faithful, actually.
- 41:34Extremely faithful.
- 41:35So you always have the legion, I'm sorry, you always have what do they call it?
- 41:39They're the 12th man or whatever.
- 41:40You always have that.
- 41:42Yeah, I agree.
- 41:44With the new coaching regime, we'll see.
- 41:45It'll be an interesting season for them.
- 41:47I can also see them having a really bad season.
- 41:49I don't think they're going to do well.
- 41:50So I think Pete Carroll has that locker room connected still.
- 41:56Even with a little less talent, I think he got the most out of them.
- 41:59So we'll see what the new coach in Seattle does if the team is gelling and buying into
- 42:05his system.
- 42:06For sure.
- 42:07You're a big Pete Carroll guy?
- 42:08Like him?
- 42:09Well, he just wins.
- 42:10I always like guys that just win.
- 42:13I wonder if that dude ever got a gum sponsor.
- 42:17You know, chewing gum.
- 42:18Like he's always your, the whole time.
- 42:21Yeah, that or like the sneakers, the dad sneakers, the white ones.
- 42:24Oh my god, yeah.
- 42:26The New Balances?
- 42:27The New Balance, yeah.
- 42:28Oh my god, every game.
- 42:30Arizona Cardinals.
- 42:32So Kyler's to be back, full and healthy.
- 42:35They did get Marv Harrison Jr. back.
- 42:39After losing, who was it?
- 42:41I already said his name, Rondell Moore.
- 42:43Rondell Moore.
- 42:44So.
- 42:45He got a decent tie down.
- 42:46He's young, can't remember his name.
- 42:47McBride?
- 42:48Trey McBride?
- 42:49Is that it?
- 42:50Trey McBride?
- 42:51That sounds right, actually.
- 42:52And so I think they're going to prove off their 4 and 13 season, but I can't see them getting
- 42:56above 8 wins personally, especially in that division.
- 43:00You're going to get beat up by the 49ers, the Rams, and that division, they always play
- 43:06every game so tight.
- 43:07Sure, for sure.
- 43:09Let's just move on to the 49ers, again, if we don't talk a lot about your team, well
- 43:14I guess if you're local, come be on the show so you can talk about your team, right?
- 43:17Exactly.
- 43:18But we're just getting so long winded here, we want to make sure you guys still want to
- 43:22actually listen to us just ramble on.
- 43:24So let's talk about the last team that will be winning the division, San Francisco 49ers.
- 43:30I think they're still a Super Bowl contender with a healthy Debo.
- 43:35With a healthy Debo.
- 43:36I think Debo is more crucial to that offense than Christian McCaffrey, and I love Christian
- 43:40McCaffrey, but they literally have so much built around what Debo can do on a football
- 43:46field that if I had to pick one to be injured because it seems to happen, I'd pick to have
- 43:54Debo over Christian McCaffrey.
- 43:55And that hurts to say because CMC is, when healthy, is electric.
- 43:59Oh, he's very electric.
- 44:00And I was looking up the stats, Purdy had over 30 touchdown passes last year.
- 44:05Really?
- 44:06Yeah, so then Brandon Uke with his contract scenario.
- 44:09Might be gone.
- 44:10It might be gone.
- 44:11Reports.
- 44:12Reports to the Steelers.
- 44:14They've agreed to it, but they're also looking to have a long-term deal with him.
- 44:20But they're defensively, they're solid at the Nicosia, Friend Warner and all those guys
- 44:26still.
- 44:27Is Chase Young still there?
- 44:30Yes, he's still there.
- 44:32But Kyle Shanahan's offense, it's just another step above other offenses of just getting
- 44:39playmakers your ball in space and letting them go.
- 44:42So yeah, I agree.
- 44:44They're going to be the cream of the crop out of that division.
- 44:47What's the rest of your division look like?
- 44:49Oh, I would probably, I'd almost go with the exact same order they finished last year with
- 44:56Niners, Rams, Seattle, and then Arizona.
- 45:01I could see maybe Seattle sliding down to the bottom stop, or Arizona coming up.
- 45:07But we'll see.
- 45:08They got a new coach too.
- 45:10So Cliff Kingsbury now is the offensive coordinator in Washington.
- 45:17Is he?
- 45:18Yeah.
- 45:19I can't remember.
- 45:20Okay, interesting.
- 45:21Well, Dan Quinn needs some help over there.
- 45:22Yeah, he does, especially that rookie quarterback.
- 45:25Yeah.
- 45:26My division's pretty much the same thing.
- 45:28Niners, Rams, Arizona, Seattle.
- 45:31I think Arizona will battle a little bit more than people think this year.
- 45:36Do I think they give the Rams run for their money for second?
- 45:41Probably not.
- 45:42I really want to say yes to get back to some of those good Arizona teams, but I just don't
- 45:47think they're quite there yet.
- 45:49So real quick before we head to AFC, who's coming out of the NFC going to the Super Bowl?
- 45:55I know it's preseason.
- 45:56I mean, right, I mean, I kind of picked two teams.
- 45:59I'm going to go 49ers.
- 46:02Same.
- 46:03And Lions.
- 46:04Are they going to be battling for the NFC championship?
- 46:13Wrong.
- 46:14Wrong.
- 46:15I think the Lions will be in the final eight teams again.
- 46:18You know.
- 46:19Final seven.
- 46:21But I don't think they're going to make it to the NFC championship game this year.
- 46:24It of course depends on seeding and blah, blah, blah.
- 46:26I get all that.
- 46:27Home field advantage.
- 46:28I agree with the 49ers.
- 46:30However, I think it's finally the Cowboys' time to finally turn that page.
- 46:33I can't believe I'm saying that.
- 46:34Yeah, I think you're secretly a Cowboys fan.
- 46:36No, dude.
- 46:37Come on now.
- 46:38Not even.
- 46:39Well, let's head to the AFC.
- 46:43We got to do AFC quick.
- 46:45Sorry, AFC fans, but AFC North.
- 46:49Who do you, let's start with the Steelers.
- 46:53Steelers interesting little quarterback carousel with Fields and Wilson there.
- 46:58Sounds like.
- 46:59Fields.
- 47:00Oh yeah, yeah.
- 47:01Sorry.
- 47:02And sounds like Wilson's going to get the nod as the official starter.
- 47:05I think that whole division is always typically really competitive.
- 47:10Three of the four teams, or actually all four teams had above 500 records last year.
- 47:15So if that tells you the strength of that division right there.
- 47:19Great rivalries too.
- 47:20Oh, great.
- 47:21Great fan base.
- 47:22Almost all across the board.
- 47:24Yeah, for sure.
- 47:25So great atmospheres.
- 47:28I think Fields will end up starting week six.
- 47:32By week six, I think Fields will be starting.
- 47:34I hope I'm wrong.
- 47:35It'd be fun to see Russell Wilson come back on a one year deal and then maybe get a three
- 47:39year deal out of somebody after the season.
- 47:41But I just, I don't think he lasts the entire season as a starting quarterback.
- 47:46I think it's all up up to the running game.
- 47:48You need Aja Hare to, you know, for that play.
- 47:50He needs to have a better season.
- 47:51He did do a little bit better.
- 47:52No, he's not even the starter actually.
- 47:53Warner?
- 47:54No, I saw that, and I hope this is right.
- 47:55I'm almost positive this was on a Steelers fan page.
- 47:56Don't ask me what I was doing there.
- 47:57I have no idea.
- 47:58But I'm pretty sure I saw that Cordero Patterson was actually getting the starting bid for
- 47:59the Steelers.
- 48:00They're running more like a, not a wildcat stereo, but like little Percy Harvin style
- 48:01where he's in the backfield in the slot.
- 48:02He's still got a little bit of electricity in him too.
- 48:03Yeah.
- 48:04I like Cordero.
- 48:05I get the ball in his hands.
- 48:06I like the way he's doing it.
- 48:07I like the way he's doing it.
- 48:08I like the way he's doing it.
- 48:09I like the way he's doing it.
- 48:10I like the way he's doing it.
- 48:23He's a special athlete.
- 48:24He just, he makes plays when the ball's in his hand.
- 48:27And even back when he was with the Vikings, you know, the kick returns.
- 48:30Yes.
- 48:31You know, like we try to get him on the ball all the time we possibly could.
- 48:35So, I think it's up to the running game because I don't like Wilson or Fields.
- 48:39It's winning the game on them by themselves.
- 48:42For sure.
- 48:43So.
- 48:44I'm going to go ahead and be frank.
- 48:45I don't think we need to talk about the defenses in this division.
- 48:47I think all four of them are great.
- 48:49I think it's going to be a fricking battle.
- 48:51I think you're right.
- 48:52I think that's probably the best division in football.
- 48:54Yeah, it could be.
- 48:55But let's, let's head into Cleveland.
- 48:57They just seem to keep having more woes.
- 49:00They seem to be, I know I keep bringing up quarterbacks, but man, does a quarterback
- 49:05matter in the NFL.
- 49:06You see it every year.
- 49:07It really matters.
- 49:08Do you see Deshaun Watson starting the entire season for Cleveland if he's healthy?
- 49:14I mean, I'd rather have them than Jamison Winston.
- 49:18No, I hear you.
- 49:20But.
- 49:21But the losing Nick Chubb, whether he can come back from that horrible knee injury
- 49:25and the stabs, they have that Ford kid that filled in for him most of the year.
- 49:31And he ended up having a nice season.
- 49:33And then, yeah, still have Amari Cooper on the outside and then no, no.
- 49:37No, no joke.
- 49:39A tight end.
- 49:40So and their defense is elite.
- 49:41So that's what I mean.
- 49:42They play that small ball.
- 49:44If they can run the ball, they'll be competitive almost every game.
- 49:48For sure.
- 49:49No, I agree 100% with you.
- 49:50I think if their defense can be the best defense in the division,
- 49:55I think you see Cleveland one or two in the division.
- 49:58They were two last year, so I think I think it's just going to be so tough.
- 50:02I think it's going to be tough.
- 50:04Cincinnati Bengals.
- 50:05Well, Joey's back.
- 50:07Joey B's back.
- 50:08You know, looks like Eminem now, but the blonde hair.
- 50:11So he's got such a weird aura.
- 50:13I don't know.
- 50:14Not weird, but like there's some like Miami Vice vibes around him.
- 50:19Like he's some drug lord.
- 50:20Is that what the feelings are getting from him?
- 50:22Yeah, when he wears the glasses and then he's got the yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 50:25I mean, they finished last in the division at nine and eight and Burrow, you know, was
- 50:30how much did he how many games did he really play?
- 50:33I don't think he played very many.
- 50:34I think he was out after like five weeks or so.
- 50:36I mean, you're finishing above 500 without your starting quarterback.
- 50:40It's a good sign.
- 50:41It's a good sign.
- 50:42So in that competitive division, though, it's to be tough.
- 50:46I do like the Bengals.
- 50:47They did lose mix in.
- 50:48So their backfield helps in a man, but they still got stud wide receivers all over the place.
- 50:54100 percent.
- 50:55He played 10 games.
- 50:56Ten games.
- 50:57So, you know, they won nine and lost one.
- 51:00Yeah, you know, I think I think Joey B is potentially.
- 51:03The best quarterback in the division, Lamar Jackson does give him a run for his money,
- 51:09but I think he could be potentially the best quarterback in the division.
- 51:12So if he can stay healthy and like you said, without him, they still finished above 500.
- 51:18They have a couple, you know, decent Ed Rushers as well.
- 51:21I mean, again, another defense that's I'd say.
- 51:25It's between them and the Steelers for the worst defense in the division, I would say.
- 51:29But like, again, worse, that's I can't even say worse.
- 51:32All four of them were so the best.
- 51:34So the best like what a great place to be.
- 51:36Right.
- 51:37Perfect.
- 51:38Yeah.
- 51:39Baltimore, Baltimore, the king, adding Derek Henry to the backfield.
- 51:45It's got to be a matchup nightmare for defense coordinators.
- 51:48You would imagine, you know, with that RPO option and there, you know, was Zay Flowers on the outside
- 51:54and he still got Mark Andrews running and I hope Rashad Bateman stays healthy.
- 51:58Go go.
- 51:59University of Minnesota.
- 52:00Yeah.
- 52:01So, I mean, they're the cream of the crop.
- 52:03They, you know, but they actually went three and three in the division.
- 52:06So that's that's kind of interesting looking at it.
- 52:09And I was looking at the Steelers were five and one.
- 52:11Yeah.
- 52:12So that division is tough.
- 52:13Yeah.
- 52:14So but if I had a rate, I'm going to go Ravens and then the Bengals, I think, second.
- 52:20And then I have a feeling that where it's going to go Cleveland Steelers.
- 52:27I'm not a fan.
- 52:28I've never been a fan of Justin Fields, even when I watched him QB one in high school.
- 52:33I always felt like whenever he got down and out or something bad happened, he carried that weight with him the rest of the game.
- 52:38Interesting.
- 52:39So just this, he just says QB one.
- 52:42I wish I was still a show.
- 52:43I wish it was too.
- 52:44I wish I had a lead 11 to remember that.
- 52:46Oh yeah.
- 52:47Lead 11.
- 52:48Yep.
- 52:49Yeah.
- 52:50Yeah.
- 52:51Baltimore for me for sure winning.
- 52:53And then honestly, I'm going to go Cleveland and then Cincinnati and then also the Steelers at the bottom.
- 52:59I do have a Steelers friend.
- 53:01He will no longer be subscribing.
- 53:04But yeah, I think Baltimore absolutely runs that division.
- 53:07And I'm just going to go ahead and say it.
- 53:08I think they can absolutely come out and be and go to the Super Bowl this year.
- 53:13Got Kansas City.
- 53:14We'll get to them.
- 53:15But I think they can do it.
- 53:18AFC East.
- 53:20Let's start with the Jets.
- 53:22Aaron Rodgers and the Jets.
- 53:23Aaron Rodgers is healthy.
- 53:25What do we see from him?
- 53:26Do we actually see anything?
- 53:28We saw him and Garrett Wilson kind of added on the sideline.
- 53:31But then Garrett Wilson came out and said, no, that's just we were both just intense.
- 53:35That's just how we talk.
- 53:36We're trying to get better.
- 53:37Blah, blah, blah.
- 53:38So do you think they have a good thing brewing in New York?
- 53:40I do.
- 53:41I think he's one of the most dynamic receivers in the NFL.
- 53:44And I think he's going to have the breakout.
- 53:46Snap.
- 53:47Yeah.
- 53:48I mean, you look at his numbers last year with Al Rodgers.
- 53:50He almost had over almost had 100 catches.
- 53:53And he was his target rate.
- 53:56Even with Zach Wilson was almost at 10 targets per game.
- 54:00And I still see that coming and going.
- 54:02And also Bryce Hall.
- 54:04I think.
- 54:05Yeah.
- 54:06Everyone kind of.
- 54:07Bryce is crazy.
- 54:08I think everyone kind of forgot about him once Rodgers went down because they just filled the box and made Zach Wilson build him.
- 54:13So I mean, he just didn't have the room or the space that you would with a legit quarterback behind center.
- 54:20No, for sure.
- 54:21I think this is also another defense for me that could fly under the radar a little bit.
- 54:27I'm not going to say they're going to be elite, but I am.
- 54:30You think so?
- 54:31I think they're not.
- 54:32They have the defense.
- 54:34I think I think I think they've fallen a little bit, but I guess I could still say top five.
- 54:41They might be at five for me.
- 54:43And they won seven games with Zach Wilson.
- 54:45I know.
- 54:46It's a good point.
- 54:47It's a great point.
- 54:48And I mean, I was trying to look at their defensive numbers on how many points, you know, like 350 points, 55 points against, you know, is one of the lowest in their division.
- 55:01And so for sure.
- 55:02For sure.
- 55:03New England Patriots, new coach, new coach.
- 55:07Is he going to keep the Bill Belichick culture?
- 55:10I think that's all gone.
- 55:13I think the whole dynasty of the past, it's new people.
- 55:19I don't know who's really left.
- 55:21He did play for him.
- 55:22He did play for him.
- 55:23But I think the communication and the leadership, he's he's he's a player versus a coach.
- 55:28So it'll be interesting to see if he can rally.
- 55:31And again, he's a defensive coach with that rookie quarterback.
- 55:33So that always puts me a little fear of, you know, are they going to take that next step on the offensive side?
- 55:39So I don't see a lot out of the Patriots this year, to be honest.
- 55:45I'm curious what Drake may will bring.
- 55:47I'm curious.
- 55:48They already released Juju as well.
- 55:50I don't know if you saw that, but they released Juju Smith-Huster.
- 55:53Wonder who will pick him up.
- 55:54I wonder if it was just another one.
- 55:57Too much baggage.
- 55:58Again, receiver, Diva, you know, down that line.
- 56:01And he was the Diva in Pittsburgh.
- 56:02Down that line, right.
- 56:04The Miami Dolphins.
- 56:07I think the Dolphins win the division this year, if I'm being honest with you.
- 56:10I know the Bills also exist in that division, but I'm kind of over the Bills.
- 56:14We'll get to them.
- 56:15But the Dolphins, I think I think two is going to have an outstanding year.
- 56:18I think their defense is still pretty dang solid.
- 56:23Yeah, Phillips returned early from his big ACL injury last year.
- 56:26So the defense aside, they are and they have so many weapons on offense.
- 56:31A chain on if he's.
- 56:33Yeah, that's that was his name.
- 56:34That's that's what I was just pulling up.
- 56:36Yeah, if he is so fast, he is so fast.
- 56:38And if he's getting 20 touches and when you have Waddle and Hill on the outside,
- 56:44that that's going to be one of the best offenses.
- 56:47So fantasy football, pick them all up.
- 56:49Yeah, two and what would you go to in Waddle or would you go to in Tyreek?
- 56:53Ooh, Tyreek.
- 56:55He just demands looks.
- 56:56I think they design so many plays around him that he's a naturally get more targets.
- 57:01That's fair.
- 57:02That's fair.
- 57:03Last but certainly not least, the Buffalo Bills Bills mafia.
- 57:09What a great fan base.
- 57:11I mean, yeah, breaking tables and crap and negative whatever weather
- 57:15because it gets cold as heck there for sure.
- 57:18Snowstorms they had last year.
- 57:19Yeah, no doubt.
- 57:20Yeah, that one was really bad.
- 57:24I think I don't know.
- 57:26I think it's the fall of the Bills finally.
- 57:28It could be.
- 57:29I think they're starting to crumble a little bit.
- 57:30I think what the heck is their quarterback?
- 57:33Josh Allen, I think he's still a decent quarterback.
- 57:35He's another one kind of like Dak at this point.
- 57:38They can't just can't get over that hump and then you get to the playoffs.
- 57:41And I know everything changes.
- 57:43We see some of these top quarterbacks struggle in the playoffs.
- 57:45Dak Prescott, Lamar Jackson, the guy we're talking about, Josh Allen.
- 57:50You know what I mean?
- 57:52So I just got to see him succeed in the playoffs at this point.
- 57:56That's where I'm at with the Bills.
- 57:58They could still make a run.
- 58:00They could.
- 58:01They have the team to do it.
- 58:03But I mean, when's Josh Allen going to stop running the ball?
- 58:06He had 15 rushing touchdowns last year.
- 58:08He's a big man to bring down.
- 58:09That is a big man.
- 58:10He's a hard man to tackle.
- 58:11But you know, he's getting a little bit older now.
- 58:15Not getting younger.
- 58:16He's not getting younger.
- 58:17They did lose the young Gabe Davis.
- 58:18They lost Diggs on the outside.
- 58:20Yeah, big L there.
- 58:21They still have Dalton, that nice rookie tight end they had last year.
- 58:26So is their offense going to be as powerful as it was in your past?
- 58:31And so that's why I feel like they're going to slide a little bit.
- 58:35They have that Coleman rookie that's been a delight on Twitter and all his...
- 58:42Who did they just add at running back, too?
- 58:45I thought they added somebody else to play in front of Delvin Cook's brother.
- 58:51James?
- 58:52James, yeah.
- 58:53I think James is going to have a big year.
- 58:55I think he's shifty.
- 58:56He's almost like another Delvin.
- 58:58Yeah, and I think he's got potential to be better than Delvin.
- 59:01Yeah, and I think he had above 50 catches out of the backfield last year.
- 59:04So whether they're a little more dink and dump versus...
- 59:08But that's not Josh Allen.
- 59:09He likes to throw the ball deep.
- 59:10So Coleman will be a nice add.
- 59:12So what is your prediction, sir?
- 59:15If I'm going down the line, I am going to go Dolphins, Jets, Bills, Patriots.
- 59:21Dolphins, Jets, Bills, Patriots.
- 59:24Okay, interesting.
- 59:31You know what?
- 59:32I think this is the first one I got to duplicate you.
- 59:34I think the Bills finally start falling a little bit here.
- 59:38And I am really curious about what Aaron Rodgers is going to do.
- 59:41I remember getting all amped up for the game last year as a non-Jets fan,
- 59:45a non-Aaron Rodgers fan, but I just wanted to see what kind of difference
- 59:49he was going to make on a different team after watching him crush the likes
- 59:52for so long just to have that disappointment.
- 59:55So I am curious what he's going to do.
- 59:58I think he could carry him to two.
- 1:00:00There are two.
- 1:00:01Their offensive line is my worry.
- 1:00:02And again, that defense, it is full of studs.
- 1:00:05Yeah, their offensive line was their issue last year.
- 1:00:07They did address it a little bit.
- 1:00:10But no matter how good your quarterback, if he's on his back,
- 1:00:13it's not really going to help much.
- 1:00:14100%.
- 1:00:15So establishing a running game and protecting Aaron is going to be,
- 1:00:18I think, their biggest issue.
- 1:00:19I don't think they're going to have any issue establishing the run game.
- 1:00:23I think they're better run blockers than they are pass blockers.
- 1:00:26I would agree with that.
- 1:00:28But again, let's move on.
- 1:00:30AFC South, man, we've got to fly through these things.
- 1:00:33AFC South, Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 1:00:38This is such a tough division.
- 1:00:40Yeah, another tough division, other than the Titans.
- 1:00:43I mean, the Jaguars have been slowly, over the last few years,
- 1:00:46I think they made the playoffs last year too.
- 1:00:49So another year for what do we want to call the long hair, beautiful Trevor Lawrence.
- 1:00:56He should have some kind of...
- 1:00:57Sunshine.
- 1:00:58Sunshine.
- 1:00:59Sunshine from Remember the Titans.
- 1:01:00Remember the Titans, all sunshine.
- 1:01:02So they have, I mean, that whole division is going to be super tight, I think.
- 1:01:06The Titans might be on the bottom of it, but I like the Jaguars.
- 1:01:11Who do you feel like on the Jaguars?
- 1:01:13Do you think they're going to above nine wins then?
- 1:01:16No, I think they're going to be right at nine.
- 1:01:22What did they go last year?
- 1:01:23Nine and eight.
- 1:01:24No, nine and eight, okay.
- 1:01:25Yeah, I think they're going to be right at nine again, to be honest with you.
- 1:01:28I think the games against Houston and Indianapolis are going to be tough.
- 1:01:32I think with a healthy Anthony Richardson, the Colts are going to be a little bit tougher this year.
- 1:01:38And again, another defense that's kind of under the radar a little bit for me,
- 1:01:42the Colts, but...
- 1:01:45They are.
- 1:01:46That's what kept them in most of the games.
- 1:01:47My worry is if Richardson depends on his leg so much and not being able to protect himself,
- 1:01:52because he took some really big hits.
- 1:01:54Yeah, let's talk about the Colts.
- 1:01:55Let's talk about the Colts.
- 1:01:56He took some really big hits last year, not even the ones he just got injured on.
- 1:02:00It was just finding and getting out of bounds.
- 1:02:03And it's similar, and I hope Jayden Daniels was paying attention,
- 1:02:05because it's similar to Lamar Jackson, it's similar to RG3.
- 1:02:10You can make plays with your legs.
- 1:02:13We saw it a little bit with Jalen Hurts.
- 1:02:15You just got to limit it.
- 1:02:17You got to limit it.
- 1:02:18Josh Allen, somehow, again, bigger body maybe, I don't know, but you just got to limit it.
- 1:02:26Just got to find a way not to take the big hits.
- 1:02:28Right.
- 1:02:29Be aggressive, but also take it when it's there and then know when it's not.
- 1:02:34Because he can make guys miss in the open field.
- 1:02:36He can.
- 1:02:37They are, Ken.
- 1:02:38No problem.
- 1:02:39So we know that.
- 1:02:40But he's still got Jonathan Taylor in the backfield.
- 1:02:42Who's the first player to wear a Guardian cap in a game?
- 1:02:45Yeah, I saw that.
- 1:02:46That was really interesting.
- 1:02:47Can't hate a guy for that.
- 1:02:48I don't know.
- 1:02:49I can't hate him for that.
- 1:02:50You got to take care of yours.
- 1:02:51And if they're giving you the option, go for it, man.
- 1:02:53I think there's a couple different, there's five maybe different designs coming out with almost the Guardian built into it.
- 1:03:00Okay.
- 1:03:01Eventually, the helmets are going to be so good that they won't ever need them.
- 1:03:05But I just thought that was interesting to see.
- 1:03:07So Colts, and then we've talked about the Jaguars.
- 1:03:11Let's get the Titans over with.
- 1:03:13I got nothing.
- 1:03:14New coach.
- 1:03:15Will Leavitts.
- 1:03:16They lost a bunch.
- 1:03:18Yeah.
- 1:03:19Will Leavitts, Malik Willis.
- 1:03:21I mean, I don't know.
- 1:03:23I don't see much out of him this year.
- 1:03:26Especially the new coach.
- 1:03:27Is D-Hop still there?
- 1:03:28D-Hop is still there.
- 1:03:29That sucks.
- 1:03:30And they also got the Jaguars, slash Atlanta's old receiver, Kelvin Ridley.
- 1:03:38Oh yeah, that's right.
- 1:03:39So that was a nice addition for them.
- 1:03:42But they also lost, you know, Henry.
- 1:03:43So going really is a great route runner.
- 1:03:45Gosh.
- 1:03:46So establishing it.
- 1:03:47So I don't have good vibes from them.
- 1:03:50I don't either.
- 1:03:51They're coming into the preseason.
- 1:03:52They're lasting my division for me.
- 1:03:53And then of course, the Houston Texans, CJ Stroud taking them to...
- 1:03:58The next level.
- 1:03:59I guess they haven't seen in a little bit since, I guess we could call it prime to Sean Watson
- 1:04:03when he first came into the league.
- 1:04:05But I think they'll repeat as division winners.
- 1:04:08And I think they're serious and they're young.
- 1:04:11They're super young.
- 1:04:12And they loaded up this year.
- 1:04:14Like every free agent they possibly had.
- 1:04:16So they're in it to win.
- 1:04:17And again, that's a tough division.
- 1:04:19But we'll see if sophomore year is better or the same.
- 1:04:26I don't see a slump from him coming.
- 1:04:28I don't either.
- 1:04:29He looks so Poison Calm.
- 1:04:31I'm a big fan of him.
- 1:04:32So we're going to be wrong.
- 1:04:34So what's your AFC South?
- 1:04:36So we're going to go Texans, Jaguars, Colts, Titans.
- 1:04:39That's how they finished last year.
- 1:04:41Okay.
- 1:04:42Okay.
- 1:04:43I want to say that Jacksonville can challenge Houston, but I just don't buy into it.
- 1:04:50Again, I think I got to do the same thing.
- 1:04:53Houston, Jacksonville, Colts and Titans.
- 1:04:56I think the Colts are definitely going to be better than they were last year.
- 1:05:00I think they're on the rise.
- 1:05:02And the Titans are just going to be bomb dwellers for now.
- 1:05:06For now.
- 1:05:07For now.
- 1:05:08AFC West.
- 1:05:10Super Bowl champs.
- 1:05:12I just, looking at the team names, right?
- 1:05:14And knowing the history and blah, blah, blah.
- 1:05:16Like you just want to think that it's going to be a competitive division.
- 1:05:19And once again, I really don't think it's going to be that competitive.
- 1:05:23We might as well just start with the Chiefs.
- 1:05:26Yeah, they're back.
- 1:05:28Patrick Mahomes still at the helm.
- 1:05:31They have enough talent around him.
- 1:05:34Defensively they're good enough.
- 1:05:36And they can put enough points up that they're going to be in every game.
- 1:05:40They went 4-2 in the division.
- 1:05:42And I feel like the rest of the division really didn't gain enough to challenge them.
- 1:05:48No.
- 1:05:49And so I agree.
- 1:05:51I think the Chiefs.
- 1:05:52I don't really need to talk about them.
- 1:05:54I think they could challenge for the AFC team going to the Super Bowl again.
- 1:05:59Yep.
- 1:06:01But the 4-2 in the division is interesting to me.
- 1:06:06I think they could even go undefeated in the division this year.
- 1:06:09Again, I don't think everybody else in the division really did anything extra to boost their chances.
- 1:06:15The Chargers went out and got the head coach, Harbaugh.
- 1:06:21I think that was a W for them.
- 1:06:23But other than that, they didn't do much.
- 1:06:25Denver, Vegas.
- 1:06:26I think it's the same old story for them as well.
- 1:06:28Yeah, Denver.
- 1:06:29I mean, Bonix is probably going to start.
- 1:06:32That's another rookie.
- 1:06:33They do have an offense-minded coach, Sean Payton.
- 1:06:36So it'll be interesting.
- 1:06:37And now he's got his quarterback that he got to pick.
- 1:06:40Yep.
- 1:06:41So in a way.
- 1:06:42Yeah.
- 1:06:43They still have Coraline Sutton, Noah Fon, but they lost Judy.
- 1:06:47Judy, yep.
- 1:06:49And they still have some defensive players on that side.
- 1:06:51Patrick Sautain, the second, might be one of the top corners in the whole league.
- 1:06:55Yeah, he's got to be top three.
- 1:06:58He's got to be top three right now.
- 1:06:59His length and speed and feet.
- 1:07:02If you listen to any wide receivers talk about the toughest guys.
- 1:07:05And then Vegas, their quarterback scenario I'm not a big fan of.
- 1:07:11And they also drafted a tight end from Georgia.
- 1:07:15Bowers.
- 1:07:16I like him.
- 1:07:17I do like him.
- 1:07:18Bowers is a big body kid.
- 1:07:19He's a big guy.
- 1:07:20So that'll help.
- 1:07:21There's some weapons there, but.
- 1:07:22Yeah.
- 1:07:23But I just don't see them taking the next leap above the 500 record that they kind of
- 1:07:31were last year.
- 1:07:32Did you watch the receiver show?
- 1:07:33I did.
- 1:07:34Yeah.
- 1:07:35I kind of want Devontae out of there.
- 1:07:36Yeah, just Jets.
- 1:07:37Yeah.
- 1:07:38I just want him out.
- 1:07:40Yes, do it.
- 1:07:41Just do it.
- 1:07:42Fine.
- 1:07:43Get it over with.
- 1:07:44We know that's been a rumor for so long.
- 1:07:48You might as well.
- 1:07:49If they start off 0-3-0-4, that's going to be the conversation a lot out of Vegas.
- 1:07:55Might as well.
- 1:07:56Yeah, who else?
- 1:07:57Might as well, with him, Garrett Wilson.
- 1:07:59And who else is there again?
- 1:08:01There's another receiver for the New York Jets.
- 1:08:04I'm blanking on his name.
- 1:08:06But what is your prediction for the AFC West?
- 1:08:09So we're going Chiefs.
- 1:08:11Hard one.
- 1:08:12I think the Chargers are going to slide up a second.
- 1:08:15I think Harbaugh is changing that culture there.
- 1:08:19They got a ton of defensive players.
- 1:08:21They drafted Alt, Tackle.
- 1:08:23I think they're going to run the ball.
- 1:08:24That was a win.
- 1:08:25I loved that.
- 1:08:26Then I'm going to go Broncos.
- 1:08:29Two years into Peyton having all his team.
- 1:08:32And then I'd see the Raiders sliding.
- 1:08:34I don't see them improving much.
- 1:08:38Do the Raiders still have the same culture at the end of the year?
- 1:08:40I'm blanking on his name.
- 1:08:42Do you think he makes it into next season?
- 1:08:45They give him a chance and an opportunity to help build the team?
- 1:08:49Or do you think he's got a short leash?
- 1:08:50I think he has a shorter leash.
- 1:08:52I think it depends how competitive they are in games.
- 1:08:54If they start getting blown out, I think that seems to get real hot real quick.
- 1:08:59For sure.
- 1:09:00Because he was the intern last year.
- 1:09:02And I think they just rolled the dice and said, all right, we like where you're starting here.
- 1:09:06But I don't know if he has the talent on his team to help him.
- 1:09:10For sure.
- 1:09:11For sure.
- 1:09:13With that, my predictions are also the same.
- 1:09:15Kansas City Chargers, Denver, Vegas.
- 1:09:17I think that's just another easy one.
- 1:09:19I think the Chargers do take that step up.
- 1:09:21Bolt up.
- 1:09:22But yeah, with that, we finally made it through our preseason kind of predictions.
- 1:09:29I thought that was going to take 20 minutes.
- 1:09:31It definitely did not.
- 1:09:33So yeah, with that, we will wrap this up, get into our tent talk.
- 1:09:38We're going to fly through tent talk.
- 1:09:40That's where we talk about injuries, news.
- 1:09:42You can expect to see that every week.
- 1:09:44I will just mention who won Bonehead of the Year last year in our segment,
- 1:09:48which is Bonehead Move of the Week.
- 1:09:50You'll see that every week as well.
- 1:09:52And then usually we would preview the next five games after that to end the episode, obviously.
- 1:09:57We're not previewing any other preseason games or anything at this point.
- 1:10:02But yeah, with that, Kev, let's head into tent talk.
- 1:10:32And heading right into the tent talk again, we're just going to fly through this.
- 1:10:37If you're still with us, which you should be, and then might as well hit that subscribe button while you're at it.
- 1:10:42Follow us.
- 1:10:43Some of the bigger injuries.
- 1:10:45Herbert was seen walking around in a boot for the Chargers.
- 1:10:49J-Quarters, she's for the Chargers.
- 1:10:51He is expected to be back for week one.
- 1:10:54We'll see.
- 1:10:55CMC will not take any preseason snaps with his calf injury.
- 1:10:59He also should be ready for week one.
- 1:11:01That's a plus for San Francisco.
- 1:11:04Pukunukua, week to week with a knee injury.
- 1:11:07He's...I don't know.
- 1:11:09I don't know if he's back yet.
- 1:11:11He could have been back.
- 1:11:12I forgot to check.
- 1:11:13He could be back now, but just keep an eye on that knee.
- 1:11:16At least he's young.
- 1:11:17At least he's young.
- 1:11:20D-Hop out four to six weeks with a knee injury.
- 1:11:22Probably will not start this season.
- 1:11:25I'm not drafting him in fantasy either, so...
- 1:11:27I wonder how far he'll fall in fantasy.
- 1:11:29Probably the lowest he's ever fallen.
- 1:11:31He's going to be in the double-digit rounds.
- 1:11:33He already pretty much was last year,
- 1:11:34but he actually ended up having a decent year.
- 1:11:36It's just weird to say that with D-Hop, honestly.
- 1:11:39Cleveland, Elijah Moore in concussion protocol.
- 1:11:41Again, another one I don't know.
- 1:11:43He could be back today, but we'll go with he's not back yet.
- 1:11:47Nick Chubb still recovering with the knee,
- 1:11:49as Rob mentioned earlier.
- 1:11:51Then Greg Newsom, the second...another decent corner.
- 1:11:54I don't know.
- 1:11:55I don't think he's top five, but maybe top 15 in the league.
- 1:11:58In my opinion, still recovering from hamstring surgery,
- 1:12:02but he should be ready by week one.
- 1:12:04Hamstring surgery.
- 1:12:05Hammy's always scared me.
- 1:12:06Anyone has any fold muscles, especially...
- 1:12:09Jay Jedd has, bro.
- 1:12:10Wasn't that his injury last year, hamstring?
- 1:12:12Yeah, caused by our turf.
- 1:12:14Ugh, which got replaced.
- 1:12:16It got replaced right after the season.
- 1:12:17Did it?
- 1:12:18Yep, allegedly.
- 1:12:19I think it did, though.
- 1:12:20I think it did.
- 1:12:21Okay.
- 1:12:22We mentioned a couple other guys already.
- 1:12:24Detroit losing one of their pass rushers, John Kaminsky,
- 1:12:27to an MCL.
- 1:12:28He could be back for a playoff run,
- 1:12:31which we do kind of expect Detroit to make some sort of run this year.
- 1:12:35Kansas City linebacker Nick Bolton already down with an injury.
- 1:12:39I didn't see what it was.
- 1:12:41It might be bad, but hopefully he's back for week one,
- 1:12:45because he does kind of hold that defense together.
- 1:12:47Him and...who's their D tackle?
- 1:12:49Jones.
- 1:12:50Oh, my God.
- 1:12:51Did you see the first game of the season last year when they didn't have him?
- 1:12:54Oh, yeah, it was...
- 1:12:55They lost.
- 1:12:56He was horrible.
- 1:12:57Yeah, that was against the Lions.
- 1:12:58The defense had nothing going on.
- 1:13:00No, no, yeah.
- 1:13:01So I wonder if he was just sitting up there in the box,
- 1:13:03because he was there.
- 1:13:04He was there, yeah.
- 1:13:05I wonder if he was just sitting in the box like, yep.
- 1:13:07Wasn't it a hold up?
- 1:13:08It was a hold up.
- 1:13:09I'm getting paid.
- 1:13:10Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:11It wasn't an injury.
- 1:13:12They need me.
- 1:13:13Yep, yep.
- 1:13:14Tampa Bay...
- 1:13:15Yaya Diaby, maybe.
- 1:13:17I don't want to say his name wrong.
- 1:13:19Linebacker, high ankle sprain.
- 1:13:20Had seven and a half sacks.
- 1:13:21He was a rookie.
- 1:13:22That's solid.
- 1:13:23Got to have him.
- 1:13:24Tampa Bay's defense, got to have him.
- 1:13:27Carolina rookie running back, Jonathan Brooks.
- 1:13:29He was drafted out of the University of Texas.
- 1:13:32He's still recovering from an ACL, but before he went down,
- 1:13:35he played almost a whole season for the University of Texas.
- 1:13:38But before he went down, he is a little shifty.
- 1:13:41He's really...
- 1:13:42He's good laterally, right?
- 1:13:44I was reading some draft reports, and I guess a lot of people
- 1:13:47are saying he doesn't hit the hole fast.
- 1:13:49He's a little more timid to hit the hole,
- 1:13:51which in NFL, it just can't happen.
- 1:13:53Right?
- 1:13:54Well, you just got to have that first three steps,
- 1:13:56because I think Le'Veon Bell was this type of guy.
- 1:13:59He just kind of analyzed and picked a hole, then went.
- 1:14:01Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:14:02But you got to have that next level speed, too, you know?
- 1:14:05Otherwise, you're just going to get swallowed up.
- 1:14:07Well, and you see it with like...
- 1:14:08With like CMC, you know?
- 1:14:10He gets through the hole.
- 1:14:11Oh, my God, his highlight videos are just insane.
- 1:14:13He hits the hole fast, gets through it,
- 1:14:15makes one quick move, and he's just gone, dude.
- 1:14:17It's ridiculous.
- 1:14:18But, yeah, Jonathan Brooks should make his debut
- 1:14:22by week three or four.
- 1:14:25And they need him.
- 1:14:26Carolina needs whoever they need.
- 1:14:28They need everything.
- 1:14:29They need everything.
- 1:14:32Drew just mentioned a couple smaller news things,
- 1:14:37whatever we want to call it here.
- 1:14:39We kind of already mentioned the Steelers
- 1:14:41allegedly having a deal in place for Brandon Iuke.
- 1:14:43They need him.
- 1:14:44The Steelers need some help in the receiving room.
- 1:14:47They need to hurry up and get that done.
- 1:14:49We already mentioned kind of the CD Lamb situation.
- 1:14:52We imagine, we're thinking, Jerry...
- 1:14:54Excuse me, that Jerry Jones will pay CD Lamb.
- 1:14:58You have to, right?
- 1:15:00Oh, yeah, definitely have to.
- 1:15:01You have to.
- 1:15:02Top five receiver in the league.
- 1:15:03All his numbers, without him, that offense is not the same.
- 1:15:07I would agree, 100%.
- 1:15:09And then I just had to throw this in here.
- 1:15:11Tevan Austin retired today,
- 1:15:13but if you know who Tevan Austin is,
- 1:15:15you know that highlight film.
- 1:15:17If you don't, go look it up.
- 1:15:19His college highlight film, one of the best.
- 1:15:21Just not an amazing career, but another shifty guy.
- 1:15:26Oh, he was awesome in college.
- 1:15:28His kick returns.
- 1:15:29I mean, kick returns, punt returns,
- 1:15:31and then in college at West Virginia, right?
- 1:15:33Mm-hmm.
- 1:15:34Didn't they have another receiver there at the same time?
- 1:15:37He's catching balls from Geno Smith, I'm pretty sure.
- 1:15:39Yeah.
- 1:15:40I'm drawing a blank on it right now.
- 1:15:41I can't remember.
- 1:15:42I think there was a second receiver there,
- 1:15:43but that was ridiculous.
- 1:15:44But anyway, go check out Tevan Austin's highlight tape
- 1:15:47from college if you needed a reason to do that.
- 1:15:49Yeah, boy.
- 1:15:50With, you know what?
- 1:15:51I'll just go ahead and usually we would cut
- 1:15:53the bonehead move of the week right here.
- 1:15:56We don't have a bonehead yet for preseason
- 1:15:58other than maybe Jordan Addison.
- 1:16:00Yeah, thanks, Jordan.
- 1:16:01Come on, Jordan.
- 1:16:03Just wanted to recap last year.
- 1:16:04Bonehead of the year was Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper.
- 1:16:08Just, I don't even think I need to explain.
- 1:16:12There were multiple different things going on.
- 1:16:14But the one at the end of the season to close out 2023,
- 1:16:17throwing the drink on the fan, as I'm sure the fan said,
- 1:16:20something ridiculous to him.
- 1:16:22No, fans say something ridiculous to an owner?
- 1:16:24I know.
- 1:16:25The owner of an NFL team?
- 1:16:26Wow.
- 1:16:27But yeah, he got a face full of something,
- 1:16:29whatever was in that cup anyway.
- 1:16:31And again, no game slate for us to preview.
- 1:16:36Nothing going on.
- 1:16:39I don't know.
- 1:16:40With that, that's pretty much a wrap on our first episode
- 1:16:43of the 2024 NFL season with our preseason previews primarily.
- 1:16:49Rob, how are you feeling about this season as a whole?
- 1:16:52We got some excitement coming?
- 1:16:54This is football season.
- 1:16:55It's my favorite time of the year.
- 1:16:57We're in high school sports, college sports, and then NFL.
- 1:17:00It's full of it.
- 1:17:01I love it.
- 1:17:03I think our first episode is going to be the week prior
- 1:17:06to the first week.
- 1:17:07We're going to start doing a five-day prediction.
- 1:17:09So that's the next time to check in with us.
- 1:17:12Yeah, the first game of the season, I believe,
- 1:17:16is September 5th, if I'm not mistaken.
- 1:17:19It's a Thursday night game.
- 1:17:22So our episode will be dropping that Thursday on the 5th.
- 1:17:27So look to that.
- 1:17:28We'll be previewing those five games.
- 1:17:31I think that Thursday night game is even one of them,
- 1:17:33so definitely got to check it out.
- 1:17:35Obviously, thanks again to the Cappy for sponsoring this episode.
- 1:17:39Don't forget to check them out on Amazon.
- 1:17:41Get your four-pack of the Cappies.
- 1:17:45So nothing gets in your drink, and so you can open it.
- 1:17:48Exactly.
- 1:17:49And then we'll be doing a prediction of picking teams.
- 1:17:51And we're going to have an online tour where you can join us
- 1:17:54and do the predictions, and you can compare some of your stats
- 1:17:58to ours and see if maybe we'll have some viewers
- 1:18:04with their knowledge adding to it.
- 1:18:07More knowledge than us, obviously.
- 1:18:09But yeah, obviously, with that, like, comment, subscribe.

- 1:18:26Other than that, what is it, two weeks?
- 1:18:29Two weeks until we're back?
- 1:18:31Yeah, with that, it's been Banner with the Boys.
- 1:18:34Gridiron, what do we call it?
- 1:18:36Updates.
