Speaker 1: Back once again to catch up with Country Weekly, where
0:08
we check out news and gossip from the world of
0:11
country music. I'm your host Ken Dawkins, and I will
0:14
be reading from various sources found online. As a reminder,
0:18
RADIOI is a reading service intended for people who are
0:21
blind or have other disabilities that make it difficult to
0:24
read printed material. We'll begin with the first article, dated
0:28
September twenty ninth, from countrynow dot com. Keith Urban and
0:35
Nicole Kidman have reportedly separated after nineteen years of marriage.
0:40
TMZ reports that multiple sources with direct knowledge of the
0:44
pair's personal life have informed the outlet that the country
0:47
superstar and Oscar winning actress have been living apart since
0:50
the beginning of summer, with Urban having been away on
0:53
tour for the majority of the summer. Kidman has reportedly
0:57
been focused on caring for their two children and holding
0:59
the fan together through this difficult time. The split is
1:03
believed to be one sided, with sources claiming Kidman has
1:06
been working to save the marriage while Urban has already
1:09
stepped away from their Nashville home. Keith has acquired his
1:12
own residence in Nashville and has moved out of their
1:14
family home, a source told TMZ People also confirmed the
1:18
news from a source who once again emphasized she didn't
1:21
want this. She's been fighting to save the marriage. It's
1:25
uncertain whether this separation will turn into a divorce or
1:27
if the two will find a way to reconcile their
1:29
long term relationship. Urban and Kidman tie the knot in
1:32
two thousand and six have since built a life together
1:35
that includes expanding their family with their two teenage daughters,
1:39
Sunday Rose seventeen and Faith fourteen. Country Now has reached
1:43
out to Keith Urban's team for comment reflecting on their love.
1:47
In a twenty twenty episode of Dax Shepherd's podcast Armchair Expert,
1:51
Urban recalled the moment he knew she was the one.
1:54
She's just the one. That was it. He said, at
1:56
the time, She's the one I was searching for my
1:58
whole life and everything not only but had to change
2:01
in me if I was going to go that road.
2:03
It felt like an ultimate fork on the road moment
2:05
in my life. It was like, literally, you either get
2:08
this right now or you are never going to get
2:10
it right. During an interview on The Today Show that
2:14
same year, Kidman also gushed over her Grammy winning husband,
2:17
praising him as both a husband and a father. Despite
2:21
their busy schedules, the pair are often seen by each
2:23
other's side, supporting their partners achievements in various projects. Their
2:27
most notable recent appearance was at the twenty twenty five
2:30
ACM Awards, where Keith Urban walked away with a coveted
2:34
Triple Crown award. On June twenty fifth, Kidman also shared
2:37
a heartfelt post celebrating another year together. Keith Urban currently
2:42
has tour dates schedule through August of next year, while
2:46
Kidman recently wrapped up filming Practical Magic two in London.
2:51
Speaking of CMA Awards, Landy Wilson is to host the
2:55
fifty ninth annual CMA Awards. Yep Laney Wilson will take
2:59
centers to his age is the sole host of the
3:01
fifty ninth annual CMA Awards. The Country Music Association and
3:05
ABC revealed early Tuesday morning. This will be Wilson's second
3:09
time hosting the show. In twenty twenty four, she shared
3:12
hosting duties with Peyton Manning and Luke Bryan. Manning and
3:15
Brian previously co hosted in both twenty two and twenty three,
3:18
while Brian held the show solo in twenty twenty one.
3:22
The CMA Awards stage has seen several iconic pairings over
3:26
the years. In twenty twenty, Riba McIntyre co hosted alongside
3:29
Darius Rucker, and in twenty nineteen, Carrie Underwood shared the
3:33
spotlight with McIntyre and Dolly Parton. Before that, Underwood enjoyed
3:37
a decade long run as co host with Brad Paisley
3:40
from two thousand and eight through eighteen. I grew up
3:43
watching the CMA Awards like it was the Super Bowl,
3:46
so to be hosting for a second year as a
3:48
true honor, Wilson shared. I'm humbled that CMA has trusted
3:51
me with this role and I can't wait to love
3:53
on this genre that has given me so much. In
3:56
addition to her hosting duties, Wilson is a top CMA
3:59
Awards nominee this year, alongside Ella Langley and Megan Moroney.
4:03
She's vying for six trophies during the show, including Entertainer
4:06
of the Year, Single of the Year, Album of the Year,
4:10
Song of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and
4:12
Music Video of the Year. The Louisiana native is the
4:16
reigning Female Vocalist and Music Video of the Year winner,
4:19
and has a career total of twenty five CMA nominations.
4:23
The CMA Awards are decided by more than seven thousand
4:26
professional voting members of the Country Music Association representing all
4:30
areas of the industry. As a peer voted honor, the
4:33
recognition carries special meeting highlighting the talent and hard work
4:36
of those who continue to shape country music and inspire
4:39
fans worldwide. Country Music's Biggest night airs live from Nashville's
4:44
Bridge Stone Arena. That'll be on Wednesday, November nineteenth from
4:47
eight to eleven Eastern on ABC, with next day streaming
4:51
available on Hulu. Additional show information, including performers and presenters
4:56
will be announced in the coming weeks. I mentioned Dolli
5:00
Parton while Dolly Parton postpones Las Vegas concerts due to
5:03
health challenges. Dolly Parton has been forced to postpone her
5:07
upcoming run of Las Vegas concerts due to health challenges.
5:11
The Country Music Icon shared the news with fans and
5:14
a heartfelt message on social media Sunday afternoon. As a result,
5:18
all concerts were rescheduled to begin on September twenty sixth.
5:23
The announcement follows Parton's missed parents at Dollywood earlier this
5:26
month due to a kidney stone that caused her lots
5:29
of problems. Next, Country Jam Colorado puts festival on hold
5:35
in twenty twenty six to plan for the future. Country
5:39
Jam Colorado, which has been dubbed Colorado's largest country music festival,
5:44
has announced that the highly anticipated event will be taking
5:46
a pause in twenty twenty six. The event that has
5:49
been held at the Jam Ranch in mac Colorado for
5:52
the past three decades will not be returning next year.
5:56
Festival organizers took to the Country Jam Colorado's official social
5:59
media pages to announce that the reason for the gap
6:02
in the upcoming years allows them to take time to
6:05
reevaluate and plan for the future. The full statement reads,
6:09
important update Country Jam Colorado will be pausing in twenty
6:12
twenty six as we take time to reevaluate and plan
6:15
for the future. We're grateful to all the fans, artists,
6:18
partners in the entire Colorado community and beyond who have
6:22
supported the festival and made it such a special event
6:24
year after year. Using the term pause instead of canceled
6:29
suggests that the festivals expected to return at some point
6:32
in the coming years, but it's unclear exactly when that
6:34
will take place. This marks the festival's first cancellation in
6:38
its thirty three year history. Over the summer, the festival
6:42
took place as usual, running from June twenty sixth through
6:44
twenty eighth, with three days of NonStop live music. Attendees
6:49
were treated to performances from headliners Cody Johnson, Bailey Zimmerman,
6:52
and Eric Church. Other artists in the lineup included flat
6:55
Land Cavalry, Cooper Island, and Tracy Lawrence BLUs. A slew
7:00
of rising stars like Ashley Cook, Hannah MacFarlane, may ESTs, Blake,
7:03
Whitten On, Wriggling, Callibly, Hutchinson and Moore left their mark
7:07
on the stage this year. The Denver Post reports that
7:11
Country Jam Colorado launched in nineteen ninety two as a
7:14
spin off event from the Shake, Rattle and Roll Festival,
7:18
an oldies theme festival established in nineteen eighty nine in
7:21
Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The festival changed course when the nineties
7:25
ushered in a new level of popularity for country music.
7:28
Melissa Jefferson, the event sponsorship manager at the time, told
7:31
the Post in nineteen ninety six. The festival eventually shifted
7:35
its focus to country music as the genre surged in popularity.
7:38
Melissa Jefferson, the event sponsor manager at the time, had
7:42
previously said it was getting harder to find the old
7:45
rock and rollers, the fifties type rockers who were still alive.
7:48
She explained, this has been a notable event for countless
7:51
fans and artists over the years. One of the most
7:54
iconic moments to take place on the festival grounds happened
7:57
during its first year when Tim McGraw proposed to his
8:00
now wife Faith Hill. Fans should keep their eyes on
8:03
Country Jam Colorado's official social media pages for any further
8:07
updates regarding the future of this beloved music festival. Next,
8:12
Cole Swindell shares heartfelt message with fans after new song
8:16
Make Heaven Crowded soars on streaming charts. Cole Swindell's new
8:21
song Make Heaven Crowded is making a major impact with fans.
8:25
The country hit maker first tease the faith driven track
8:28
on September twentieth, just ten days after the assassination of
8:31
conservative activists and Turning Point USA co founder Charlie Kirk.
8:36
Swindell revealed that he felt inspired to write the song
8:38
after hearing a moving tribute from Kirk's widow, Erica, who
8:41
spoke publicly for the first time following her husband's passing.
8:45
Soon after, Swindell joined forces with Grayland, James, Joel Hutzell,
8:49
and Blake Pendergrast to bring the song to life. Driven
8:52
by overwhelming fan demands, Swindell quickly released the song, which
8:56
officially hit streaming platforms on Friday. In the days that followed,
8:59
he was lown away by its unbelievable success as it
9:02
soared to number two on the All Genre chart and
9:05
claimed the number one spot on the Country chart. To
9:08
show his gratitudes, when Delle filmed a video message thanking
9:11
fans for their support, I just wanted to say thanks
9:14
again because it truly does mean the world supporting me
9:16
my music. But this is bigger than that. This is
9:19
bigger than anything I've ever been part of musically because
9:21
of the message. When Delle began, I've had some stuff
9:24
that hopefully have helped people through everyday life or just
9:26
tough situations, but we're talking about eternity here. This isn't
9:30
just everyday life, and I don't know just your reaction
9:33
and response. It makes me so hopeful. And I knew
9:35
I wasn't the only one feeling this way when we
9:37
wrote the song, but to see the reaction just confirms that.
9:41
He went on to urge fans, we cannot stop now
9:43
telling them you all be strong. Too many times we
9:45
go through things that bring us all together, and as
9:48
time passes, we slowly drift back apart. But let's not
9:51
do that this time. Let this song be a reminder.
9:53
We can do this, we can do better, we can
9:55
be good to each other. Let somebody tell this about Jesus.
10:00
Make Heavin Crowded is a heartfelt ballad that finds Swindell
10:02
questioning what things would be like if more people accepted
10:05
Jesus into his heart into their hearts. The response he
10:09
received from fans was unlike any reaction I've ever had
10:12
to his song, and recognized that this may be the
10:14
most important song of my career. Make Heaven Crowded is
10:17
available now across all streaming devices. We move on now
10:22
to Saving Country Music with the first article dated September thirtieth,
10:26
and there's always commentary involved here from the Saving Country
10:29
Music Folks headline. Country Music continues to set records and
10:34
be ignored by the Super Bowl. On Saturday, September twenty seventh,
10:39
Zach Bryan played the largest ticketed event in American history.
10:43
One hundred and twelve thousand, four hundred and eight people
10:46
packed into Michigan Stadium and Ann Arbor to witness Zach
10:49
Bryan perform at the Big House with John Mayer, Ryan Bingham,
10:53
and The Texas Gentleman and Joshua Sloan supporting. Merchandise sales
10:58
alone top five million dollars according to organizers, making it
11:01
also the biggest merchandise sales event in history. To break
11:05
the record, Zack Bryan had the best George Strait, who
11:07
drew one hundred and ten thousand, nine hundred and five
11:09
people to the home of Texas A and m Aggie's
11:12
Kyle Field back in twenty twenty four. George Strait also
11:17
was third and now fourth on the top of the
11:19
list with a crowd of one hundred and five thousand
11:21
that he drew for an event in New Jersey the
11:23
same year, The Grateful Dead's concert at New Jersey's Raceway
11:27
Park in nineteen seventy seven with one hundred and seven
11:30
thousand also on the top list of ticketed events. What
11:34
this all illustrates is the incredible popularity of country and
11:37
country adjacent artists currently, especially when it comes to live performances,
11:42
and it's hard to overlook how there is a football
11:44
tie in since these records are being set in football stadiums,
11:48
with Zach Bryan appearing in a Michigan University football jersey
11:51
during Saturday show. Zach regularly trolls the Internet with his
11:55
unabashed Philadelphia Eagles fandom. The day after Zack Bryan's record
12:00
setting show in a football stadium, the NFL announced that
12:03
for the twenty rather thirty second year in a row,
12:06
country music will not be featured during the halftime performance
12:09
of the Super Bowl, arguably the biggest live entertainment event
12:13
each year. Instead, it will be the King of Latin
12:16
Trap Bad Bunny taking the field. You have to go
12:20
all the way back to nineteen ninety four when Clint Black,
12:23
Tanya Tucker, Travis Tritt and the judges performed to find
12:26
the last and really only time country music was featured
12:29
during the Super Bowl halftime. There hasn't even been a
12:33
country artist featured as a guest in over twenty years.
12:36
For the record Shania Twain appeared briefly with No Doubt
12:39
in two thousand and three, and Doug Kershaw also made
12:42
a quick appearance in nineteen ninety when the super Bowl
12:45
was in his native state of Louisiana. Since the super
12:49
Bowl halftime show became a big deal in nineteen ninety one,
12:52
with new Kids on the Block taking the field, country
12:55
music has really only been featured predominantly once. When you
12:59
consider that it's one of America's popular genres and arguably
13:02
the most popular genre currently, this feels like a travesty.
13:07
There's a huge barrier standing between a country artist playing
13:10
the super Bowl halftime and it's not popularity or talent.
13:14
The NFL partnered with Jay Z's Rock Nation in twenty
13:17
nineteen as their official live music entertainment strategists. This has
13:22
put country music on the sidelines permanently like a third
13:24
string quarterback, and relegated it to pregame performances. Making the
13:30
super Bowl halftime show exclusively the domain of hip hop
13:33
seems like a disservice to every other genre and a
13:36
lot of people as well. In my opinion, At this point,
13:39
the question isn't whether a hip hop performer will be chosen,
13:42
but which one. Country music is packing out football stadiums
13:46
and in record numbers, but for yet another year, it
13:48
remains on the sidelines when it comes to the Super
13:51
Bowl next as Zach Top cools off Gavin Adcock heats up.
13:58
Don't look now, but there's been a drama shift in
14:00
the trajectory of two of country music's hottest up and
14:03
coming stars, and it doesn't bode well if you're advocating
14:07
for the continuance of country music's resurgence of rootsier, twangier,
14:11
more traditional country music. Zachtop's most recent album, Ain't in
14:16
It for My Health was released a month ago and
14:19
could have been a catalyst to keep him at the
14:21
top of the country music consciousness, but that isn't exactly
14:24
the case, at least not yet. It was a little
14:27
disappointing when the fifteen song album debuted at number four
14:30
in the charts, when we were hoping for at least
14:32
at least country music or saving country music was hoping
14:35
for at least number two behind Morgan Wallen's latest Still,
14:39
Zach Top is just getting started in his career and
14:41
there'll be plenty of opportunities for topping the album charts
14:44
in the future, but just as disappointing, Top's new album
14:48
continues to enact or rather precipitous slide down the charts,
14:51
as opposed to showing signs of being one of those
14:54
sticky records that sits in the top twenty for sometimes
14:57
years before slowly fading off. Last week, Ain't in It
15:00
for My Health dropped to number twenty seven, losing twenty
15:04
six percent of the streaming and sales activity from the
15:06
previous week, which was the biggest percentage drop and the
15:09
entire top one hundred of the Country Album's chart. Where
15:14
is Zachtop's previous album, Cold Beer and Country Music? Over
15:17
the last many months, it's been one of those sticky
15:19
albums at the top of the charts, but for the
15:22
first time in a long time, it dropped out of
15:24
the top twenty to number twenty one last week, losing
15:27
nine point four percent of sales and streams, making it
15:30
the biggest percentage loser in the top twenty five. Now
15:34
granted to have albums at number twenty one. At number
15:37
twenty seven on the Billboard Country Album's Chart would be
15:40
a fate many country artists would love to have, including
15:43
contemporary mainstream ones like Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean. Zaktop
15:48
is still doing quite well comparatively, but it's inescapable that
15:51
Zack Top is cooling off. Why is this Well Saving
15:56
Country Music says It could be that the new album
15:58
Ain't in It for My Health just isn't being very
16:00
well received. Though the reviews were great and folks hounded
16:04
Saving Country Music for only giving it an eight point zero,
16:07
the numbers don't lie. The new album just isn't resonating
16:11
like the previous one, and so far we haven't seen
16:14
that super hit like I Never Lie was for Zach
16:16
from the previous album. This could also be part of
16:20
a greater trend where listeners are starting to grow a
16:22
little tired of the whole neo traditional thing that Zach
16:26
Top embodies so strongly. So if zak Top isn't the
16:29
hot new thing in country music, who is Well Saving
16:33
Country Music says? That would be Gavin Adcock. As Zach
16:37
Top is tabling off the charts, Gavin Adcock continues to rise.
16:41
Last week, his latest album, Own Worst Enemy, rose from
16:44
number eleven to number nine in the charts, gaining six
16:47
percent in sales and streams. More than any other title
16:50
in the top twenty five. What's the bump from Well,
16:53
according to Adcock himself, it's all the controversy he's steering.
16:57
On September nineteenth, Keavin took to social media to gloat
17:01
for all the people out there that's loved and supported
17:03
me over the past four years of my career. Thank
17:06
you all so much. I love you all. Going to
17:08
always stand up and support you all do what's right.
17:11
For all the sissies out there that I've been living
17:13
rent free in their head. Thank you all for making
17:15
this one of the biggest streaming weeks of my career.
17:18
You fell right into the trap, and that's what it is.
17:22
According to Saving Country Music, a trap. As a troll,
17:25
the controversial Gavin Adcock feeds off attention as controversies have
17:30
rage between him and Charlie Crockett, Zach Bryan and Beyonce
17:33
and others. His name continues to make it into the
17:36
public consciousness. Even when people pointed out his own fans
17:40
were criticizing him for backing down from a fight with
17:43
Zach Bryan recently, it still had more people asking who
17:46
is Gavin Adcock. Nobody would accuse Adcock of being a
17:50
traditional rootsi or critically acclaimed country artist. Many of his
17:54
fans are more fans of the bad boy persona than
17:57
they are of the music, But the music is slightly
18:00
better than what they're used to hearing in the mainstream.
18:03
It has just enough of that outlaw patina to make
18:05
people think they've just discovered the real deal in a
18:08
world of fake country stars. Meanwhile, Zak Top's out there
18:12
keeping his nose clean, his controversies in flame, wars ensue
18:15
between a host of various other artists. This isn't a
18:19
recommendation Zach Top start mixing it up with someone just
18:21
to garner attention. If you're a neo traditionalist like Zak Top,
18:25
you're here to play the long game and not be
18:28
the next flash in the pan. What could turn the
18:31
tide for Top? Well, he's set up real pretty for
18:33
the CMA Awards come November with nominations in multiple major categories.
18:38
A big knight could give him a big boost because,
18:41
just like Gavin Adcock a few short months ago, most
18:44
of America still doesn't even know who Zach Top is.
18:47
But with Hudson Westbrook out there collaborating with Marshmallow, Ella
18:52
Langley working with big extra plug, We're definitely starting to
18:55
see some of the steam go out of the traditional
18:57
country resurgence, at least in the mainstam All of these
19:01
things work in cycles, and we might be coming to
19:03
the end of one in real time. Let's not count
19:06
out Zack Top or any other young neo traditionalists just yet.
19:10
Zack Top is inspiring a whole host of new artists
19:13
as we speak, and inspiring labels to pay attention to them.
19:16
The resurgence of country sounds in the mainstream could be
19:19
just getting started, but we live in an attention economy
19:22
for better or worse. And even without big hits on
19:26
the radio, and even if he's losing his battles, Gavin
19:28
Adcock is winning the war. Next legendary Oakridge Boy member
19:34
reveals cancer diagnosis. As the bass voice for one of
19:39
the most iconic vocal quartets in American history, Richard Sturbin,
19:43
is nothing short of a legend in the realms of
19:45
country music and gospel. He sang all those memorable Oakridge
19:49
Boys bass parts on songs like Elvira an American Maid,
19:53
and just like Harold Reid of the Statler Brothers, who
19:56
passed in twenty twenty. Sturbin is part of a breed
19:59
of bass singers in country music that unfortunately is slowly
20:02
fading away. When Richard Sturbin joined the Oakridge Boys back
20:06
in nineteen seventy two, matching up with Dwayne Allen William
20:09
Lee Golden. In the following year with Joe Bonsall who
20:12
passed away last year, the most recognized and successful lineup
20:16
of the Oakridge Boys was officially formed. This would be
20:19
the lineup enshrine in the Country Music Hall of Fame
20:21
in twenty fifteen. Though the legacy of the Oakridge Boys
20:24
include scores of members tracing all the way back to
20:27
the nineteen forties, Richard Stourbin became the band's secret weapon,
20:31
all allowing them to go places other vocal groups in
20:34
country and gospel just couldn't without a bass singer. Originally
20:38
from Camden, New Jersey, Richard Sturbin started out in the
20:41
music business performing with the gospel courtzet called the Keystones
20:46
that he co founded. He would go on to perform
20:49
with J. D. Sumner and later The Stamps behind Elvis Presley,
20:52
including performing with Elvis on tour. Over the last few years,
20:56
Richard Sturbin has been regularly absent from live performance. The
21:00
band's farewell tour, with bass singers Aaron mchun of Daily
21:03
and Vincent and Tim Duncan filling in. Sturban took some
21:07
extended time off in twenty twenty two as well, for
21:11
undisclosed reasons. Ben James Official joined the group to fill
21:16
in as tenor after the passing of Joe Bonsel. Now
21:19
Richard Sturbin has revealed that he's suffering from cancer. In
21:23
March of this year, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer,
21:26
the eighty two year old Sturban said in a statement.
21:28
But I am under the care of the best cancer
21:30
doctors in the country, and with the help of the
21:32
good Lord above, I believe I will be able to
21:34
get through this. I want to thank everyone, especially the fans,
21:37
for your concern and I would appreciate your continued prayers.
21:41
Most days I'm feeling very good and I hope to
21:43
be back out on the road in several months. Sturban
21:46
recently appeared with the Oakridge Boys on the ACM Awards
21:49
in May, and the quartet does plan to tour in
21:51
twenty twenty six. Another country legend, Maverick's frontman Raul Mallow,
21:57
has also given an update to his camp diagnosis. On
22:01
September twenty fourth, mallocent in a statement, things have taken
22:05
a turn. As it goes with cancer. It's very unpredictable
22:08
and indiscriminatory disease. I've developed something called LMD, which stands
22:12
forget this stuff out of my head. Treatment for this
22:16
is radiation, which I will start tomorrow. We will probably
22:19
jump into some chemo and are even looking at alternative therapies.
22:23
But it's time to take your words to heart of
22:25
resting and recovering. So that's what I'm going to do.
22:29
The Mavericks have canceled all upcoming appearances in the wake
22:32
of a diagnosis. Now we backpedal over to the boot
22:36
dot com with the first article dated the twenty ninth
22:39
of September. Why was alleged shooter Nigel Edge at the
22:43
twenty twelve CMTS with Kelly Pickler. Nigel Max Edge has
22:49
been arrested and charged in connection with the deadly mass
22:52
shooting that occurred in Southport, North Carolina, on Saturday but
22:56
thirteen years ago. Edge, whose legal name was Sean di
22:59
Bavois at the time, had a surprising country music connection.
23:03
He was Kelly Pickler's date to the twenty twelve CMT
23:07
Music Awards, So why was he walking the red carpet
23:10
that night. To answer that question, you have to look
23:13
back at Debavoy's background as a decorated Marine veteran and
23:16
Purple Heart recipient. He served two tours of duty in
23:19
Iraq and was near fatally wounded in combat, earning recognition
23:23
for his service and sacrifice. Both Pickler and dibov Woise
23:27
hail from North Carolina, and the two first met at
23:30
a local charity event in the state. They bonded over
23:34
their shared support for the US military. Kelley Pickler has
23:37
long been a staunch supporter of the troops and veterans,
23:40
frequently performing at military focused charity events and taking part
23:44
in USO tours to entertain service members overseas. Debouvoys invited
23:49
Pickler to the Hope for Our Heroes Got Heart to
23:51
Give Hope a gala. More than a decade later, The
23:54
charitable event seems to still take place every year. Its
23:58
website describes the annual event as an intimate affair bringing
24:01
together veteran and civilian supports to celebrate the strength and
24:05
resiliency of the military community. Pickler couldn't attend. She was
24:09
actually scheduled to be out on her fifth USO tour
24:12
that day. Instead, she invited Deba Vois to join her
24:15
at the twenty twelve CMT Music Awards as a way
24:18
to honor his service and show her support for the
24:21
military community. Noe that night led out at the twenty
24:25
twelve CMT Music Awards was purely a way to celebrate
24:28
their friendship and show support for the US military community.
24:32
Pickler was married at the time. She and her husband's
24:34
songwriter Kyle Jacobs, had tied the knot the year before.
24:37
She attended the CMTS with Debouvoire. Deepavoys walked the red
24:42
carpet alongside Pickler and his service dog, Rusty had joined them.
24:47
A US military spokesman tells The New York Post that
24:50
deba Voice served in the Marine Corps between two thousand
24:52
and three and two thousand and nine, was ranked sergeant.
24:55
According to a two thousand and seven article in The
24:58
Wilmington Star, he was heart of two separate ied attacks.
25:02
In addition to separate incidents in which a bullet shrapnel
25:04
lodged in his head, he suffered nerve damage due to
25:07
injuries from an ak forty seven. TMZ reports that in
25:12
February twenty twenty five, De Bauvoys, who at that point
25:16
had changed his name to Nigel Edge, sued Pickler, claiming
25:19
she tried to kill him at the award show. According
25:22
to TMZ, court documents claimed that Pickler handed him a
25:25
poisoned glass of jim Beam while they were at the CMTS.
25:29
He says that he didn't drink it. In a separate claim,
25:32
Edge has reportedly accused North Carolina's Brunswick Medical Center of
25:35
also trying to kill him. He changed his name as
25:39
We Said, to Nigel Max Edge in twenty twenty three,
25:41
and on Saturday, forty year old Edge allegedly opened fire
25:44
with an assault rifle on a waterfront bar in Southport,
25:48
North Carolina. Next, Kelsey Ballerini turns to music to heal
25:53
after heartbreak. Kelsey Ballerini's leaning on one constant that's always
25:57
helped her navigate life's hardest moments her music. Last Thursday,
26:02
during an intimate live performance in Chicago, the country star
26:04
connected with fans in a raw and vulnerable way. She
26:08
covered Fleetwood, Max Dreams and opened up about how performing
26:11
is helping her process a new chapter. I think there's
26:14
this beautiful, healing, connective thing that happens when I get
26:17
to play music with you, the thirty two year old
26:19
told the serious XM crowd, your girl needed that this week.
26:23
Ballerinian actor Chase Stokes recently ended there nearly three year relationship,
26:28
and while there's no scandal behind the split, sources close
26:31
to the couple say it wasn't easy. Life distance and
26:34
timing ultimately caught up with them. They were both traveling
26:37
so much and trying to juggle everything. Taste of Country
26:39
previously reported the arguments piled up. Ballerini reportedly initiated the conversation,
26:45
but both she and the Outer Bank star agreed the
26:47
relationship had run its course. There's still a lot of
26:50
love between them, the source eded, they were trying to
26:52
make it work. The couple first went public in early
26:55
twenty twenty three and made their red carpet debut with
26:58
the CMT Music Awards. For the most part, though, they
27:01
kept things low key, quietly showing up for each other
27:03
in the background. The breakup comes a few years after
27:07
Ballerini's divorce from fellow country artist Morgan Evans, a life change.
27:11
She's still moving through. Although it's been a few years,
27:14
Kelsey is still coming out of divorce and figuring out
27:16
ways that she really wants to be. A source explained
27:20
she's not in a place where she's going to just settle.
27:23
She's also been managing another emotional weight. Her dog Dibbs,
27:27
is facing unexpected health issues. Big Boy has a surprise
27:30
surgery today. She recently wrote on Instagram, we would appreciate
27:34
all the big love and prayers and healing and energy
27:36
you can send this way. While Ballerini hasn't said much
27:39
publicly about the break up, her performance in Chicago may
27:42
have said at all. With her voice, her vulnerability, and
27:46
her ability to connect with a room full of strangers,
27:48
she's once again turning personal pain into something powerful. As
27:52
she told her fans, your girl needed that this week,
27:55
and the healing starts with a song. Ballerini flew to
27:59
Texas during her summ Or Bragg to make her debut
28:01
on the Austin City Limits Television Stage on Thursday, July tenth.
28:05
The episode was taped to air during the long running
28:08
music show's fifty first season. Well this concludes the reading
