- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Do you ever feel like when the Lord asks something of you,
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: you're like, wait, you want me to do what?
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Divine Worth Podcast,
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: where we are letting go of our self-doubt,
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: anxiety, fear,
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: limiting beliefs so that we can step into the divine roles that God has for us.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: I am your host,
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Life Coach Karen Papin,
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: and together we are embracing our divine worth and potential.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Divine Worth Podcast.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: This episode is going to be the last episode of Season 2.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: With summer going on,
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: it's just a great time to be able to take a break from the podcast for a little bit.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: And so I'll be starting up the podcast again in the fall and just taking
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: a couple months off to be able to focus on my family and also just the direction
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: that we're going next with the podcast.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: But I am excited to start up again in the fall because I want to dive more into
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: the women in the scriptures and how they show that we are of worth.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: And so when we come back, we will be focusing in on that.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: But with that, today I wanted to do something really special.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: And for those of you who don't know,
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: I have this list of divine worth scriptures that have really helped me to recognize
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: and understand who the Lord sees in me.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: And I've created free scripture cards that you can download and print off and take with you.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: The First Scripture that I want to share with you
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: is in Alma chapter 32 verse 27.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: And here Alma is teaching the Zoramites and he's teaching them how to have more faith.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: And he says to them, Behold,
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: if ye will awake and arouse your faculties,
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: even to an experiment upon my words,
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: and exercise a particle of faith,
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: yea, even if ye can know more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: There's so many good things about that scripture.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: I mean, just a particle, you know how small that is?
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: And it might just be no more than just having a desire to believe.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: A desire to believe.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: And while he is talking about believing in the gospel of Jesus Christ,
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: I think that this is super applicable also to believing in who we are as children
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: of God and in our worth.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: And if we want to let that grow within us,
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: then we follow Amla's counsel and experiment upon that desire and plant it
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: within our hearts and nurture it.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: And that's what I love about these scriptures is they can help us be able to nurture
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: that desire within us to be able to let that seed of faith grow within us.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: The more that we read them,
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: the more that we study them,
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: the more that we seek to really apply them into our life,
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: that is how we are nurturing those seeds and that desire to be able to believe in
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: who we are as children of God and that He will help us and guide us
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: through this life.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: In the difficult circumstances that we have and also in doing those things
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: that He asks of us that may be hard or scary, right?
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: He is there and He will help us and our faith grows little by little,
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: step by step, here a little, there a little, as we nurture that desire within us.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: So throughout this episode, I hope that you will think about the scripture and allow yourself
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: To be able to nurture that desire within you,
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: allow yourself to listen to the words within each of the scriptures
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: that I'm sharing today and recognize and understand that,
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: wow, this is something that the Lord wants me to learn.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: That's why it's there in the scriptures.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: And this is what he sees in me.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: So with that, let's
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: Dive into the next scripture, which is in Romans 8, verse 16.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: And that says,
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: What I love about that scripture is right there,
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: it clearly talks about how we are children of God.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: He is our loving Heavenly Father.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: And when we really think about that and we ponder that, we can truly feel the truth of it as the
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: I think that's one reason why the song I Am a Child of God is so powerful and one
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: that we sing so often because it is as we sing it,
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: the Spirit is witnessing to us the truthfulness of it that we are children of God.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: And as such, the Lord knows us so well and He has a great love for us.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: And so Jeremiah 1.5 is the next scripture I want to share and that says,
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: Now this is referring specifically to Jeremiah,
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: but we can also apply it to ourselves in that the Lord knew us
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: before we were even conceived.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: He knew us before we were born.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: And in others'
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: The Lord knows us so well and He loves us still.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: I think that knowing that the Lord knows us that well is very comforting to know
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: because it's like nothing that we do or that we're experiencing is a surprise
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: to Him.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: Like He knows
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: What it is that we're going to experience.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: He knows how we're going to respond just because He knows us so well.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: And that is why we have a Savior because of that love that He has for us and
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: because He knows that we are going to make mistakes,
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: that this earth life is part of the learning experience and part of
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: that learning is going through those mistakes.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: And so He provided a Savior for us to be able to
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: Overcome To Be Able To Learn To Be Able To Grow
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: And I Particularly Like Jeremiah's Example Here Too Not Just Because
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: The Lord's Reminding Us Hey I Know You I Formed Thee In The Belly
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Before I Formed Thee In The Belly I Knew Thee Alright So Not Just Be So He Knows Us
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: But Also In Verses 6-8 Is Jeremiah's Response To This Call That
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: The Lord Is Giving Him
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: And likewise, I feel that the Lord calls us as well to be able to be His hands here on earth.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: And sometimes we feel like Jeremiah does,
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: which in verse 6,
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: this is what Jeremiah says,
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: Then said I, Lord God, behold, I cannot speak for I am a child.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: Okay, do you ever feel like when the Lord asks something of you,
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: you're like, wait, you want me to do what?
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: How can I do that?
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: I am, and then fill the blank.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: And you start seeing all the ways that you are not qualified.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: And that's what's going on here with Jeremiah.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: He is seeing and feeling like he is not qualified, right?
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: There's that imposter syndrome coming up for Jeremiah here.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: He's like, I cannot speak for I am a child.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: He's young.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: He's young.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: And the Lord's response to him in verse 7 and 8 says,
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: Okay, so the Lord's saying to him, you do not need to be afraid.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: I am with you, and I will give you the words.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: So listen, that's so
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: So, we can remind ourselves of Jeremiah.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: When we are also struggling to be able to do the things that the Lord is asking of us.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: And He truly sees our worth and He sees what we are capable of.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: And so as we put our faith and trust in Him,
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: He will help us to be able to see that in ourselves as well.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: In Psalm 139 verse 14, it says, I will praise thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: Marvelous are thy works, and that my soul knoweth right well.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: Right here, we are reminded that the Lord made us.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: He is our Creator and our Heavenly Father.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: And I love how it says, I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: And what that means is we were made with awe and with respect.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: Marvelous are thy works, and that my soul knoweth right well.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: If sometimes we feel like we are less than
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Like We Are Not Measuring Up Like We Are Inadequate As We Were Talking
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Before One Thing That Actually Does Help Me Is To Go Out In Nature To Stand Next To
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: The Ocean Or To Be In The Mountains And Be Surrounded By All These
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: Beautiful creations with the trees and we can just go right outside our back door
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: as well and just zero in on the clouds and look at the sky and just marvel on all
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: of these creations and then remind ourselves that we too are creations of God
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: and there is a beauty within us as well that He sees for we were made with a
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: Doctrine and Covenants section 18.10 says,
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: And that is something that is important for us to recognize in two ways.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: One, it helps us to recognize how great it is,
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: how much of worth we are,
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: but it also helps us to recognize how much others around us are of worth.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: The worth of souls is great in the sight of God.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: And so we have a great work to do here in not only strengthening and understanding
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: who we are as children of God and to recognize our own worth,
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: but to also,
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: as we do so, step into that divine role and identity that the Lord sees in us.
- 11:19SPEAKER_00: And as we do so, step by step,
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: He helps us to be able to make a greater impact on those around us
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: because we are not meant to hide the light that we have, but to let it shine.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: So Matthew 5 verses 14 through 16 says, Ye are the light of the world.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: And what I love about that is we are not meant to hide, right?
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: We're not meant to put this light that is within us, and that is divine.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: I think sometimes we really do make things about us and not in like a selfish way,
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: but in a way where we allow fear and self-doubt to keep us
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: from letting our light shine.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: And in those moments, we really are making it more about us.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: Whereas when we shift our perspective and we start focusing more on,
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: oh, but how can I bring others relief?
- 12:39SPEAKER_00: How can I love and serve others?
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: And we focus more in on that love that our Heavenly Father has for His children.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: That is when we start to eliminate that.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: That Fear That We Have Because We Are Focusing In On The Things
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: That Truly Matter Most And If You Start To Wonder If You Are Really The Right Person
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: To Be Doing What The Lord Is Asking Of You Remember This
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: In 1 Timothy 4 14-15 It Says Neglect Not The Gift That Is In Thee
- 13:12SPEAKER_00: Which Was Given Thee By Prophecy With The Laying On The Hands Of
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: The Presbytery Meditate Upon These Things
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: Give thyself wholly to them, that thy profiting may appear to all.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: Now, once again, this is not about sharing our talents and our gifts for the praise of men.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: It is about bringing others unto the Lord.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: It's not about us.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: However,
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: what I love about this scripture is that it reminds us that we have our own gifts
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: within us.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: And as we allow the Lord to do His great work within us,
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: and we put aside those fears and those doubts,
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: then we are able to step forward in His light and in His love
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: and bring others closer to Him.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: In Proverbs 3 verses 5 and 6,
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: it says,
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: I love this scripture because once again it's reminding us where do we put our trust?
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: We Put Our Trust In The Lord And We Do So With All Our Heart The More That We Put
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: That Trust In Him The More He's Going To Direct Us Trust The Lord
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: With All Thine Heart And Lean Not Unto Thine Own Understanding I Think That
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: That Phrase Lean Not Unto Thine Own Understanding Can Be Applicable In A Lot
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: Of Different Ways Sometimes We Misinterpret Things And So That's Why It's Important
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: To Be Able To Lean Unto Thine Own Understanding It
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: Reminds us to be humble when we struggle to accept something that the Lord has told us.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: Lean not unto thine own understanding.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: Trust in the Lord's view.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: Trust in His understanding.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: Trust in His timing.
- 14:59SPEAKER_00: It also can be applicable to how we feel and think about ourselves.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: Trust the Lord with all thine heart.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: Lean not unto thine own understanding.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: Our view of even what we are capable of is limited.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: But when we step into the Lord's view,
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: Then Our Vision Expands What We're Capable Of Expands Because We Start To Recognize
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: And Understand That The Lord Believes In Us And So We Start To Believe
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: On His Understanding Of Who We Are In All Thy Ways Acknowledge Him Also
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: A Really Important
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: Stab Here.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Seek to See All Those Ways That He Is There For Us And That He Is Helping Us
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: In Each Step Of The Process And Blessing Us And Then
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: The Last Part Sometimes We Start To Think That We Know Better That We Know The Path
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: That We Need To Be On This Is The Scripture Is Great For Those Times Too Trust
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: The Lord With All Thine Heart Lead Not Unto Thine Own Understanding
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: And All Thy Ways Acknowledge Him And He Shall Direct Thy Paths I Promise You That
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: As You Put Your Faith And Trust Into
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: His Plan for you.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: You are going to find a greater sense of fulfillment, peace, and joy in your life.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it does not make sense what He asks of us,
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: but when we put that faith in Him and we just trust in Him,
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: He leads us to places that we never imagined.
- 16:50SPEAKER_00: And when we look back, we become so thankful for the path and journey that we've been on.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it's hard when we're right in the middle of a messy moment or a dark time
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: in those moments.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: Keep Your Eyes on the Lord.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: And like Peter,
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: when he was walking on the water towards the Savior,
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: you will not fall unless you pull your eyes away from the Savior.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: Because that is when Peter started to fall,
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: was when he lost his focus and he stopped focusing on the Lord.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: And likewise, we are falling and we are sinking when we lose that focus.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: But when we turn to Him,
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: and we recenter our sight on Him.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: He pulls us out of the depths and He guides us and He helps us to be able
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: to do things that we did not even think were possible.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: 1 Nephi 3, verse 7.
- 17:45SPEAKER_00: This is when Nephi's father is telling Nephi what
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: That the Lord wants him and his brothers to go and get the brass plates from Laban.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: Nephi's response is,
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: And it came to pass that I, Nephi,
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: said unto my father, I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: For I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men,
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: which he commanded them.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: Okay, the Lord is going to help you to accomplish the things that he has in store for you.
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: And as you go and do, He will guide you.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: It doesn't necessarily always work out the way that you want.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: It took Nephi several tries,
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: but the Lord did end up guiding Nephi to doing what needed to be done in order
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: for them to get the breastplates.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: But just remember that this life is about a learning experience, right?
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: And so it sometimes doesn't,
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: sometimes,
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: often doesn't go the way that you expect it,
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: but there's something there that we can learn from.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: And, and
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: We can especially learn how to put our faith and trust in the Lord.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: Exodus 9 16 And in very deep for this cause have I raised thee up for to shew
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: in thee my power and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: Moses himself was someone who also struggled to really believe that the Lord was calling him.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: He was just like, wait, me?
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: You know, that same thing like Jeremiah.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: It's just like, I can't speak.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: Moses was slow with speech and he struggled to speak,
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: but the Lord provided a way for him to be able to accomplish the things
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: that he commanded him.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: And right here,
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: the Lord is letting Moses know in very deep for this cause,
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: how I raised thee up to show up my power.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: And once again, what is the purpose of what we are doing?
- 19:43SPEAKER_00: Why is He raising us up?
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: He's not raising us up to necessarily be seen of men,
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: but He is raising us up so we can draw others unto Him so
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: that they can experience His love,
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: so that they can experience the gift of the atonement and recognize and understand
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: that they are of worth as well.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: In the parable on the talents, where the Lord is talking about a ruler who
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: gave talents to his servants,
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: and then he left for a time,
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: and when he came back,
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: the two servants had multiplied what they had earned,
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: what they had been given, whereas the one hid his talent.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: All right, but this is what he says unto the one that had been given two talents.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: It says here,
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: That is something that we truly do hope for as we put our faith and trust in
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: the Lord, is we know
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: I hope that these scriptures have helped you to be able to gain a greater understanding.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: I hope they have helped you to recognize and understand that you are of worth and
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: that the Lord sees something in you.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: He sees your great worth and he knows that you can make a difference in this world
- 21:32SPEAKER_00: as you trust in him and let your light shine.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: And he gives us counsel to pray.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: In Moroni 10,
- 21:42SPEAKER_00: 4-5 it says,
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: And when you shall receive these things,
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: I would exhort you that you would ask God,
- 21:47SPEAKER_00: the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: And if you shall ask with a sincere heart,
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: with real intent,
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: having faith in Christ,
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: He will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: And by the power of the Holy Ghost, ye may know the truth of all things.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: Isn't that beautiful?
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: Here the Lord is giving us a very wonderful and real gift of prayer.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: And we can come to know and recognize the truth of all things through the power of
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: the Holy Ghost as we pray with that real intent,
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: having faith, believing that He will reveal it to us.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: And so I want to encourage you to take time to pray, to know that you are of worth.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: That The Lord Loves You And That He Has A Great Work For You To Do And Then Let
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: That Desire To Believe Work Within You Nurture It And Continue To Put Your Faith
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: And Trust In The Lord Step By Step As It Says And Leave Kindly Light One Step Enough
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: For Me Step By Step You Will Be Able To Make The Difference In This World
- 23:02SPEAKER_00: That I Know
