- 0:03Speaker 1: Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head,
- 0:08Speaker 1: and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, and said,
- 0:13Speaker 1: Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked
- 0:18Speaker 1: shall I return thither. The Lord gave, and the Lord
- 0:23Speaker 1: hath taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Job 1.20 Dear Lord, You are the Almighty God. Nothing
- 0:37Speaker 1: is too hard for you. You remain sovereign and faithful
- 0:42Speaker 1: in all circumstances, no matter how bleak. In the midst
- 0:47Speaker 1: of Job's suffering and loss, he remained devoted to you,
- 0:53Speaker 1: even though he was overwhelmed by grief and turmoil. Lord,
- 0:59Speaker 1: we thank you for your infinite wisdom and strength that
- 1:04Speaker 1: can carry us through any trial. You are sovereign and
- 1:09Speaker 1: ever faithful even when our faith falters. Help us to
- 1:15Speaker 1: trust in you and remain devoted no matter the circumstances.
- 1:21Speaker 1: May we always hold fast to your promises, even when
- 1:25Speaker 1: the path is hard. We wait upon you with expectation
- 1:31Speaker 1: and awe, for you alone are our rock and our salvation.
- 1:38Speaker 1: In Jesus' name, amen. Thank you for joining me in prayer.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Stay tuned for today's free podcast, Meditative Prayers with Zach Clinton,
- 1:52Speaker 1: where you can draw close to God and find strength
- 1:55Speaker 1: in Him.
- 2:00Speaker 2: My friends, welcome to your meditative prayer on overcoming depression.
- 2:05Speaker 2: To get the most out of your spiritual journey, use
- 2:07Speaker 2: Pray.com every day and make prayer a priority in your life. Again,
- 2:12Speaker 2: our goal for today's meditative prayer is overcoming depression. So
- 2:17Speaker 2: let's begin by just taking a moment to relax. Find
- 2:22Speaker 2: a comfortable spot wherever you can focus on this moment
- 2:26Speaker 2: of self-reflection. And as you close your eyes, take a
- 2:31Speaker 2: deep breath and fill your lungs with air. And then
- 2:35Speaker 2: as you exhale, let go of the worries weighing heavy
- 2:40Speaker 2: on your mind. Today we'll be meditating on Job, Chapter 1,
- 2:45Speaker 2: verse 20 from the King James Version. It says, Now
- 2:49Speaker 2: let's begin by taking a moment just to pour out
- 2:51Speaker 2: our adoration to God. God, I praise you because everything
- 3:18Speaker 2: I have has been given by you. I praise you
- 3:23Speaker 2: because you are the Lord of all. God, I worship
- 3:27Speaker 2: you for you are always in control. Your reign cannot
- 3:33Speaker 2: be opposed and you are sovereign over all things. It's
- 3:39Speaker 2: hard to trust God while discouraged and depressed. To worship
- 3:45Speaker 2: him When you don't understand why things are happening the
- 3:48Speaker 2: way that they are. You know this can cause you
- 3:51Speaker 2: to feel as if you have no control over anything.
- 3:54Speaker 2: And that things will never change for the better. In
- 3:58Speaker 2: this state it becomes easy to want to shut down
- 4:02Speaker 2: and close yourself off. But you must not lose heart.
- 4:07Speaker 2: For there is hope. You do not have to figure
- 4:11Speaker 2: everything out this second. It's okay to take time. And
- 4:15Speaker 2: to sit with your emotions, to process them. There may
- 4:19Speaker 2: not even be a reason as to why you feel
- 4:22Speaker 2: the way you do. And God understands this. Like with Job,
- 4:28Speaker 2: God does not require you to have the answers. Just
- 4:31Speaker 2: that you trust in him. Confess to God what you
- 4:36Speaker 2: are going through. Like with Job, God does not require
- 4:41Speaker 2: you to have the answers. Just that you trust in him.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Confess to God what you are going through. Tell Him
- 4:49Speaker 2: of your despair and hopelessness. Share with Him your apathy
- 4:54Speaker 2: and discontent. Take a moment now to dwell on the
- 4:59Speaker 2: truth of God's goodness. Thank God that despite your circumstances
- 5:05Speaker 2: and your emotions, that you can trust Him. Thank Him
- 5:10Speaker 2: that He is a good God and that He has
- 5:13Speaker 2: a plan for your life. Thank God because he is
- 5:18Speaker 2: in control and he cares for you. Thank him for
- 5:23Speaker 2: his past goodness in your life and for all that
- 5:27Speaker 2: is yet to come. Never forget, God is present and
- 5:33Speaker 2: he's listening to you. Once again, bring to mind the
- 5:38Speaker 2: depression you are struggling with. Ask God for the ability
- 5:43Speaker 2: to hope. To see beyond your current reality. To trust
- 5:48Speaker 2: beyond understanding and to know that God is in control.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Ask God to increase your faith in his word. Faith
- 5:57Speaker 2: to pray peace over yourself. Faith to have confidence that
- 6:02Speaker 2: God has a good future for you. Remember, it is
- 6:07Speaker 2: possible to worship God in the midst of fear and
- 6:10Speaker 2: the unknown. Depression can make life difficult and challenging, yes.
- 6:16Speaker 2: You won't always understand why things happen the way that
- 6:19Speaker 2: they do. You may not be able to control your
- 6:22Speaker 2: emotions or circumstances, but you can choose to trust God
- 6:28Speaker 2: and in His provision for your life. Choose this day
- 6:33Speaker 2: to open your heart to Christ and allow Him to
- 6:37Speaker 2: fill you with the peace and knowledge that you will
- 6:40Speaker 2: overcome this season. My friends, thank you for completing today's
- 6:45Speaker 2: meditative prayer on Pray.com. By incorporating this healthy habit as
- 6:50Speaker 2: a daily practice, you are making prayer a priority and
- 6:53Speaker 2: strengthening your walk with God. Again, my name is Zach
- 6:57Speaker 2: Clinton from the American Association of Christian Counselors, and we
- 7:01Speaker 2: love being a part of your life.
