Transcript
- Ted Turner: Good evening, everyone. And welcome to Dogs Down South, episode 101. It is the first summer episode. I think we can kind of say we're, mean, high schools, middle schools, they're kind of, they're drawing to a close, but I'm looking at the fact that UGA just sang George on my mind and graduated their 2026 class. And so that's pretty cool. So that gives us the opportunity to jump in on our summer SEC series. But before I do so, we welcome in my man Fish. How's it going Fish? Adam Fisher: Good man, good, good, good. Glad to see you. Been a while. Ted Turner: Good to see you again, man. Yeah. I hadn't seen you in a while, man. You look in, you look in dapper, man. I have to say the beard's trimmed really nice. All things. You're rocking the Batman shirt, man. Adam Fisher: That's that that end of school year glow Ted Turner: Yeah, man. I'm intimidated. You got the Batman shirt on bro. I'm I'm I feel like I should have came with more of a superhero vibe tonight, man. Okay. Okay. Adam Fisher: Well, it's the off season, so you know, you know, soon as kickoff day one, I'll be all UGA. Ted Turner: I hear you, bro. I hear you, man. So we're live, man. We are on TikTok tonight. We're on YouTube and also Facebook. And then 24 hours later, we will be on Apple Podcasts. Hey, shout out to everyone who streamed the 100th episode of Dogs Down South. I opened it up today, man. And just in the main stream, like Apple Podcasts, we're on a loan. had 106 streams, which is, you know, for a little old platform like ours, that's a really great number. So thank you for the support. And we're looking forward to, we're halfway through the off season, man. think somebody said yesterday marked the halfway point of the off season. And so we are close to, you know, obviously some summer vibes kicking up and then we head into camp. And the next thing you know, man, we're between the hedges playing Tennessee state, right? So I thought, Fish, it will be cool. We were waiting on this. So spring practice is over. We had a little mull. We took a little aft. after spring practice vacation. Now we're back on a Tuesday night here. So I thought it would be cool to obviously we're going to talk some hot take stories, but thought it would be cool to open up our post spring SEC rankings or how we think if everything settled right now, how we think the teams in the SEC would finish if the season started after what we saw in spring, right now. Adam Fisher: Yeah, we deserved it. Ted Turner: I go ahead give you a nudge and say that not many people played spring games. So kudos to Georgia. And I mean, well, as they play but televised, maybe there were some teams that played them, but that definitely gives Georgia a little bit of an upper hand because we actually were able to be scouted and seen. Just kidding. But yeah, I we're going to talk SEC post spring, and then we're going to do a little cool vibe at the end and do some what would a all Kirby smart Georgia team look like? Adam Fisher: Definitely. Ted Turner: But before we do that, Fish, let's hop in. Let's break the ice tonight. First off, kind of a hot take for not a good reason. If anybody hasn't heard, Fish might think I'm jumping into something before I am yet. But Ahmaud Hardy, man from Missouri, I don't know if people have heard this, but Ahmaud Hardy was shot at a concert in Missouri, and he is stable. But a lot of questions around now, obviously we, we, we, as human beings, we, talk real first and we, we, wish him the best, his family recovery. ⁓ I heard he'd have to have surgery. and, but he's stable. and not a lot of information coming out of Missouri about details other than they haven't called anybody. And I'm, hearing that it was a leg. He was shot in the leg. ⁓ and so a lot of questions though, in the sporting world around. Adam Fisher: always. Ted Turner: What does that change for Missouri? Ahmad Hardy, obviously a big piece of that offense, probably was going to be in the talks for Heisman, right? I run him back with Missouri this year, had a great year last year and definitely was going to probably put him in the area of offering him a very good draft stock next year. So thoughts and prayers go out to Ahmad Hardy. We're going to talk a lot more about Missouri later on when we do our rankings, but Just wanted to make sure. And if you hadn't, if you hadn't heard that news to break that news and let you let you know that, ⁓ I'm odd hearted and his family's and our thoughts and prayers and prayers goes out to Missouri and all the players. ⁓ but a fish, you actually, ⁓ sent me a message today and I had her pieces of the story. Right. But I didn't hear like all these pieces, man. So like when I actually started putting them together, it was pretty hilarious, man. Like, so Lane Kiffin and Steve Sarkeesian got beef right now, man. Adam Fisher: Yes, definitely. Ted Turner: before we even get to their beef and what you were talking about with me, because I want you to be able to share with me a little bit about the Sark end of it. But I kind of went back and I listened to a couple of podcasts, specifically that SEC podcast. And dude, what like, bro, I heard it said that like Lane Kiffin is the only coach that can stand on a bridge that he's burning. Like if it was ever possible, can you stand on the bridge that you're burning currently? Right? Adam Fisher: Dude, he is just taking shots outside of the Sark thing, but like at Ole Miss, like I read an article on ESPN today, dude. He's throwing lots of haymakers their way. Like I don't know what happened when he left. I don't know where all this animosity is coming from, but he did like a four hour interview with Vanity Fair not too long ago and wow. Ted Turner: just let it rip. You just let it rip. Like, I mean, I had heard bits and pieces of this, but I honestly like, you know, I've kind of took a little step back, you know, just, you know, we, do a lot of covering, you know, football, college football. And so I kind of taking my step back out of the media stuff going on. And then when you, heard bits and pieces through the park, through the sec podcast. And then when you told me that other extension to it, I'm like, God, man, like Adam Fisher: Bye. ⁓ Ted Turner: is you're just fresh off the press, man. Like the guy goes out there and you know, spends six years at Ole Miss and don't get me wrong. He did some great things at Ole Miss, but I mean, he made the comments when he was at Ole Miss. He's like, you know, ⁓ I needed Ole Miss more than Ole Miss needed me. In other words, he's, he's given that shout out to Ole Miss because you know, he was a broken coach. People know his past at Tennessee and USC. And then I think Florida Atlantic would take him back tomorrow. They don't give a rib. He was great for Florida Atlantic as far as acres earn. Adam Fisher: No. Yeah. Ted Turner: But like Ole Miss, like you're just taking jabs. So I'm gonna read, I'm gonna let you react to this. I pulled the comments. So basically in that Vanity Fair interview, he mentions the challenges at Ole Miss and said some recruits families were uncomfortable with Mississippi's racial history and diversity concerns, right? One quote getting heavy attention was recruits allegedly saying my grandparents aren't even letting me move to Oxford. And so a lot of fans interpreted those comments as Kiffin taking a public shot of Ole Miss after leaving LSU, after leaving for LSU. Others thought he was just being blunt about recruiting realities in the SEC. I don't read it like that at all. think, like, I think there's still things, there's still animosity right now. And maybe it's more from Lane Kiffin. I mean, does this kind of fish give you an example of the fact of, you honestly think that Lane Kiffin is actually kind of toxic for college football in general? Adam Fisher: big time. Yeah, I have lost all the respect I ever had for that man all the sympathy after losing money I just he is a piece of work, dude and What he's saying now, he says he's just speaking his truth and not taking shots You know, it was a four-hour interview. Well, no, no, no, He didn't have to say that He took it somewhere that it really didn't need to go like he even mentioned segregation Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah. Adam Fisher: like segregation on campus and in Oxford and stuff like that. what happened? Like I really need to know. I need to know what happened with him and the AD are either what's his name? The new head coach, the guy who took over for him. can't remember his name off the top of my head. I've I'm Pete Golding. There you go. I've been hockey and basketball for like the past like three, four weeks. I've got to jump back in. I've got to get back in. But dude, don't, I just. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah, Pete Golding. Yeah. Adam Fisher: Who would want him after this? mean, I know there's going to be teams out there that'll take him because they want to win, but dude, do you really need the poop show that comes along with it? Ted Turner: Whoa. Well, I mean, can anybody see where LSU is at right now? I mean, they'll take anything. mean, I don't think they'll take anything, but I mean, we talked about it on our earlier show. mean, they're what? 200 million in the hole as we spent. No more than that. They were close to after a pack of pull that episode, man. It's between him and the new basketball coach and what the payouts were for Brian Kelly and all these other coaches. Like we're in the three, 400s of millions of dollars to get this guy. Adam Fisher: Dude. Ted Turner: who's obviously a, mean, Lane Kiffin right now is a toxic coach, man. like me and you used to talk about Lane Kiffin and I, you know, I didn't like to go against Lane Kiffin. I do think he's a really great offensive mind, but you start to really look deep inside, man, and you go like, what is, he, is he a salesman or is he a football coach? Like, what is he selling? Right? It's like his, his, his stuff in social media and his quotes and you know, it would be like, Adam Fisher: at me as well. Ted Turner: some of his SEC colleagues to come out in the next few weeks, months and support him. ⁓ probably because he goes to them and goes, Hey guys, kind of like when he, anyone who's drinking binges at Tennessee and USC. And I mean, Sark Sark didn't come to his aid. Sark actually came to, ⁓ just hop in and go look, you know, you think, you know, you think this is bad. Like, and he talked about, he reportedly said, Texas only accepts around 50 % of transfer credits while implying Ole Miss has looser academic standards joking that players could take basket weaving and still get a degree at Ole Miss. I mean, these guys work on the same coaching staff under ⁓ Nick Saban, right? They were on the same staff. ⁓ You know, I think Sark was an analyst. Yeah. Adam Fisher: Dude. And this is poor Nick, poor Nick having to deal with this. Not this, but you know, like any, I'm sure that there was like beef and stuff like that between, you know, Kirby Lane and Sark all there at the same time. Like there's no telling like the fights, you know, he had to like, or the fires he had to put out, so to speak. Cause there's obvious, there's something, like there's something going on. Ted Turner: mean, either that man or it's kind of like, you know, it's kind of like when Jake Paul, you know, gets the buildup going for his fights, right? The more, the more stuff you can put behind it, the more money can come into play. And I mean, these two teams obviously meet this season and will be one of the most televised. It could break records for televised, in a televised setting. ⁓ and there'll be a lot of, you know, media, social media. A lot of people at this game, there'll be a lot of eyes on this game. There will be a lot of buildup to it. I can guarantee you college game day, regardless of the records of these two teams will be at this game. ⁓ It wouldn't be surprised me if SCNation doesn't show up. I don't even know what games happen on this weekend, like this reminds me of like a Jake Paul like rummaging session to get everything pumped up and really behind the scenes. They're just trying to cause, you know, a bunch of drama or pull the eye towards, you know, the SCC. What do you think? Adam Fisher: You know it. Tony is there. Yeah, I mean you're probably you could be right. I mean that it's it's not unheard of for like there to be like media stunts and stuff like that like hey We want to go ahead and get the ball rolling on this season. Let's build up some excitement and some drama So, know, we have something to look forward to and talk about between now and October November whenever that game is I don't even know where that game is I don't know if it's Texas or LSU. I don't know where it's at but Ted Turner: It's close. It's close. It's you know, it's Ole Miss and Ole Miss and it looks you I think it's like second or third, third game of season. ⁓ Adam Fisher: ⁓ omelette. but I mean that's cool I just Ted Turner: But dude, he plays, but they all play each other. think if I'm not mistaken, I Texas, I know Texas plays, ⁓ LSU, ⁓ no Texas plays Ole Miss. I know Ole Miss plays LSU. I just don't know if Ole Miss plays Texas this year. I'd have to look at that. But I mean, I mean, that's, that just kind of is another one to punch towards Ole Miss. mean, Ole Miss has been through it, you know, this off season. I don't feel sorry for Ole Miss either. mean, ⁓ I'm not hopping on the bandwagon of dragging a school. you know, transfer portal accusations have not been something that's high on the list of making Ole Miss look any better right now. NIL spending is very high, tampering allegations from Dabo Sweeney. ⁓ And then, know, Kiffin leaving the LSU. mean, I don't know if everybody remembers Kiffin, you know, the whole drama of him saying people tried to run him off the road. And even though there's no Adam Fisher: Absolutely. Ted Turner: physical evidence of any of that happening. ⁓ you know, so when Sarkeesian made these comments, it just, it just kind of added to the soap opera of what Lane Kiffin wants. Right. I mean, I think there's a method of madness behind it. And I think the L S I think LSU is, you know, they're cut right out of that. You know, I mean, that's how LSU is. mean, I don't respect LSU and a ton of, ton of sports venues. I mean, I wouldn't drag their school. I'm not going to sit there and talk. some of the stuff they're bringing up, but I will tell you that LSU for a long, long time has been just terrible. Like the leadership in general around the sports and you know, coach ⁓ everybody likes coach ⁓ but I heard coach ⁓ was one of the nastiest, you know, cutthroat kind of coaches when it came around other coaches that could be. And then we all know that, ⁓ I don't know. mean, Brian Kelly, I mean, geez, man. I don't want disrespect anything or call him anything female related because it just been passed mother's day. But dude, the two, the dude was on his period every week, right? Like it just looked like he was having a bad week every week. So, ⁓ I don't know, man, I can't say enough about LSU. Maybe he was, maybe he was fit for LSU, right? Adam Fisher: Maybe I mean a match made in heaven, you know, I mean And you're right if it's a stunt it's a stunt, but it's not making him look good like it's making him look petty and Small and you know, like he's got nothing better to do than just take shots at things and not to mention the people That he hurt, you know that are gonna get caught up in the you know in the blast radius of this You know people in Oxford, you know that he's talking about indirectly, you know, when he says what he's saying, when who knows how much truth is to it. can't be that much, dude. It's 2026. Like, and that's, you know, a highly publicized, lots of cameras, lots of TV, lots of media, you know, down there for the football games and everything in these past few years that he was there. I mean, like, if there was any of that stuff going on, you would think, would think that, you know, it would be public knowledge. wouldn't just be something that Lane Kiffin breaks in a Vanity Fair interview. You know, if it was really that big news. He's just trying to hurt somebody, but you know, I don't know. It's petty. Ted Turner: You know, he is not, I'm sorry, I was muted. We're good now. He's, he's standing on a bridge that he's burning right up under his feet. And I just don't know how many of those you can continue to do that way. Right. ⁓ It almost makes to our scenario. Where is he? Is he untouchable? ⁓ You know, when it comes down to any other high profile college jobs in the future, you would think it's LSU or the NFL or LSU or bust. Adam Fisher: Yep. I like that analogy. Yep. I love it. Ted Turner: I just don't know right now in the next five years who would touch him, Adam Fisher: Could be another Harbaugh type situation. He's gonna set the world on fire, then he's gonna bounce and he's just gonna go to the league where this NCAA crab doesn't matter. And that's exactly what Jim Harbaugh did. Want him a natty and see you. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah, they could definitely be like that, bro. They could definitely be like that. But anyways, ⁓ man, we, we want to talk about more to link up. And, it's just, that's, that's, that's, that's crazy, man. Hey, so let's hop in. So I thought it would be cool fish to talk. Let's let's rank each sec team. So this is technically our first little stab at our sec summer preview. And we're going to talk about every single team throughout the summer. Adam Fisher: Please. Ted Turner: I give a complete breakdown, talk about what the expectations are for that team. When losses wise, what would be a boom or a bust for each team? What would be an over, ⁓ I would call it an over achieving moment for them and an underachieving moment for each one of them. But for tonight, we're just going to literally talk about where we see each team coming out of spring. Obviously they'll have, you know, ⁓ fall and a lot can happen in fall in that three or four weeks in camp and things of that nature. And over the summer as you know, some of these guys get more acclimated. Obviously, there's an area of kids that will be graduating. Remember, if we all remember, Nate Frazier was someone who came in late, but made a quick turnaround and got on the field for Georgia. So it's not, ⁓ we don't oppose to the fact that there are people, kids that can come in in this time of year and make a huge hit on a team. And so we don't know much about that, but we do know what we saw kind of post spring. So let's hop right in. Fish, I got 16. I got number 16 right out of the box. I put Arkansas here. It was hard for me and Ryan. ⁓ I think I've called his name 110 times wrong, but we're going to continue to call him wrong because I just like it. I think his real name is Silverfield, but let's go with Silver Fox. I like that one better. Adam Fisher: silver buck. Ted Turner: But I think Ryan Silver Fox is gonna have his hands full in his first year Coming over from Memphis in the SEC. It's really really hard to find a win in SEC play for Arkansas this year I know we we do go to Arkansas And I think the second or third game of the year ⁓ but massive rebuild ⁓ After already rough season when you know my in my opinion, you know, the defense is gonna improve From what I understand this year, a lot of Memphis, the Memphis, what I call the Memphis JV squad coming over. ⁓ and so quarterback and defense both remain concerns. There's some pieces on the offense, but my question is if Arkansas struggled in the sec with, with, ⁓ Taylor and Taylor, ⁓ I'm so sorry. I just said Taylor and Taylor. ⁓ what was the kid last year from Arkansas, the quarterback? ⁓ my knee, I might need that, right? ⁓ anyways, but, ⁓ Adam Fisher: got drafted. Ted Turner: Taylor Green, Taylor Green, Taylor Green. That's why I was thinking Taylor. Taylor Green, man, really, I thought one of the better quarterbacks to come through Arkansas in the last 10 years. If we can't find, if it's hard to find wins with him at quarterback, mean, the two guys they got coming in this year, it's really gonna be hard to find wins. What do you think about this one right here? What do you think about Arkansas? Adam Fisher: I agree. Sorry Grant, ⁓ yeah, it's hard to find, like you said, to find a win for them. 16, unfortunately, is gonna be where they're gonna end up this year. Not to say that they won't improve and they may upset a couple of people, not us, but they might squeak a couple of wins out that we didn't see coming, but they're not expecting much from them. So anything they do will be, you know. awesome for them, you know, because I don't think they're expected, you know, anyone's expecting a lot from them this year. Ted Turner: Yeah. What do you think? What do you think the major thing is for Arkansas? Because I mean, I've heard there's money out there and I don't want to go too far down this rabbit trail, but you know, you look at Arkansas and you look at the body of work out there and you look at, know, some coaches out there. mean, is it just me or would it, do you think it would have been a good idea to maybe keep a Bobby Petrino around who, if I'm not mistaken, ended up at North Carolina? So he ended up on North Carolina staff. That's a huge get right. ⁓ But do you think it was a good idea to maybe just start fresh and kind of go with the name that maybe, yeah, maybe he's well known in the area of Memphis, but I mean, nobody had heard of Ryan Silverfield, Silver Fox before people had started pronouncing his name wrong. So Adam Fisher: them yeah. I just don't know. Leadership, you know, off the field, you know, I'm speaking of like maybe the higher ups, the people that are making these financial decisions, you know, who to hire, who to fire, you know, and then they're hiring the wrong people and they're going after the wrong people in the portal. And I mean, assuming, let's assume that they have the same or close to the same budget as, know, Ted Turner: Yeah. Adam Fisher: any other SEC school, which I know that there's differences and you know what, but let's just say that they're in the middle, okay? You know, because I honestly don't know. I like to assume that they have that Sam Walton Walmart money, you know? But maybe not, you know? Maybe, I don't know. But anyway, like it's just whatever they're doing is not working. Whoever they're going after. aren't the ones that they need to be going after. It's not working out. It's not panning out for whatever reason. And, you know, they had, they had some talent last year. They had one of the better quarterbacks in the SEC who was basically running for his life every Saturday afternoon and still was kind of impressive, you know, and just imagine what he could have done with a more solid O line and, you know, some actually skilled players around him, you know, that can make some plays. And he wasn't having to, you know, felt like he had to Ted Turner: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Adam Fisher: carried the weight of the world on his shoulders for that team. I ⁓ don't know, man, but something's got to give. Maybe this is where they thought they had to be. Maybe this is what had to happen because whatever the formula was before just wasn't working. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, complete rebuild, man. It's hard to find wins for silverfield this year, man. This is going to be and here's the thing, man. Like they, we may know, we may, they may know something we don't know, but I can tell you that I really do think it's just going to be hard. the defense was abysmal last year and if it's questionable this year and the offense takes a step back, I mean that questionable defense and a, in a pretty, I'll call it a decent offense, right? Adam Fisher: abysmal. Ted Turner: I mean, tailing green matched with Bobby Petrino, I thought had its moments. Um, but if it couldn't spur out a lot of wins, I don't know what this can spur out, but we're not going to spend too much more time on them. Uh, 15, I got the Kentucky Wildcats. Now this doesn't mean that I don't think Kentucky will be improved this year. I think Will Stein, there's already been some things changing for Kentucky, right? Um, you know, Mark Stoops, I think I drug Mark Stoops numerous years. I think this is three years too late. that Mark Stoops is out. And apparently he's a hot commodity because he's at Texas now. I say that with all sarcasm. ⁓ I just have the money to give this man a job to sit there and I don't know, just look mad at the world. But, ⁓ but I do think no matter what, think Kentucky may not have an improved season from a numbers standpoint. ⁓ so, so, I mean, don't quote me on that, that this means they're going to make a bowl or they're going to, you know, But but I do think Will Stein is going to bring some things to Kentucky that has not been seen in a while via an offense. Hello. I can't tell you how long Kentucky's been fighting to have an offense that is reputable and then you know maybe some toughness on defense but I got Kentucky at 15. I like what Will Stein is going to do. The kid from from Notre Dame coming in. I forget his last name. It's not it's not Men's Hall. Adam Fisher: seems like. Ted Turner: He's a backup or CJ car at at Notre Dame. But so he's I'm hearing good things about him. I mean, he comes in. I heard it was a tight race between him and CJ car when they were battling it out. But I Kentucky at 15. Fish, what do you what do you think about Kentucky? What's your what's your you know, 15 you like them here like I'm higher. Adam Fisher: I think you could go in any direction with these bottom three, but you know 15 is good. I mean that that's like, you know, 14 15 16 I think was you couldn't go wrong either way Yeah, and you know, and like you said there's no really such thing as rebuild anymore You know with how fast you can turn a roster over, you know with the transfer portal and stuff like that You know there you know 20 years ago. Yeah Ted Turner: Yeah. Right. Yeah. Adam Fisher: But no, mean, they're gonna, two, three games, four games, it's not gonna be a stellar season for them. And the fans just need to expect that, so there's not a lot of heartache and sadness in the season when they're not performing right. But they will, like you said, this guy, the new coach can take him in a better direction, the old one. Ted Turner: Mm-hmm. Adam Fisher: wasn't working. Stoops, are you right, just sitting over there looking like he's mad at the world. But, you know, not, not just Ted Turner: He just never, he just always ducked everything, man. He just ducked every bit accountability for that team. Adam Fisher: Yeah, but I'm sorry. I just got an alert on my phone. Sark responded to the Ole Miss AD. Anyway, we're not going off on that. Anyway, I was trying to read. got distracted. But yeah, not expecting much. ⁓ Texas, you know, has some pretty good defensive minds over there. I know we're not talking about Texas, but Mark Stoops and Big Will. Ted Turner: mean, I like Will must chant man, but the man's not called his own defense in 10 years. We'll get to Texas. Um, I think five wins for Kentucky. I think a bowl this year for Will Stein in Kentucky would be huge. I it would be huge. I think they can get five wins. I think you're going to have to knock somebody off. And, um, all I'm saying is watch out, watch out Alabama week, round four or five. Uh, I'm not calling that game yet, but just watch out. Um, 14, I got Mississippi state here at 14. Adam Fisher: hahahaha Sorry. It would be. Ted Turner: thing that gives me hope and I want to ask you fish like I like I saw that Camaro Taylor is a real deal man. He's a really good looking kid quarterback from Mississippi State. I think this is going to be ⁓ the offense is going to be finer Jeff Levy. ⁓ Big thing is bringing back the old their former coach on the defensive side of the ball Zach or net who used to be you'll know that name from He was the head coach right after our beloved the pirate ⁓ passed and left Mississippi State. Zach Arnett was the guy he was he was running the defense and he took over the interim position. I think they made him the coach out of just, you know, it was a right thing to do, right? It didn't turn in it didn't turn when you know, at that university didn't turn them into a powerhouse or anything of that nature. But maybe it was the right thing to do. ⁓ But Adam Fisher: glitch. Ted Turner: Now our net comes back as a defensive coordinator. Does this mean the defense can head in the right direction? Uh, you know that, you know, you know, Camario Taylor and, uh, Levy are going to score points at Mississippi state. Um, but I do feel like once again, these, like you said, these three teams, I feel like they could, they, they make and make an improvement in what they look like, but it's still going to be hard to make an improvement on their records in the sec. What do you think? Adam Fisher: Agree a hundred percent because the next 13 teams are All could all rattle off eight wins seven wins. I mean any given Saturday I mean you never know But these yeah, it's it's a hard slate this year in the SEC plus nine conference games so Whoo All I can say is good luck, but you know as far as Mississippi State goes you have the defense can only get better Ted Turner: Yeah. Adam Fisher: because they were basically non-existent last year. Ted Turner: Do you think Jeff Lebby's on the hot seat this year for Mississippi State? You think he's gotta go to a bowl? Adam Fisher: Through no fault of his own, mean, again, this is what kind of help is he getting from the university as far as what he can spend, what he can do, what he can bring in, recruiting budgets, NIL budgets. Football has evolved and you have to be a smart business guy at the same time as a good football mind now. Ted Turner: Right, right. Adam Fisher: to be successful, think. Or either have people that are good at business. you know, whatever you like or whatever you want to say, there is a business side to football now. College football. You know, it's almost bordering on semi-pro. ⁓ Yeah, I don't know. Ted Turner: Yeah. So for, 13, I have, I have Vanderbilt in this spot. And I also have Vanderbilt as the biggest turnaround, kind of zero to hero type year, obviously coming off a year with the ever so talented, Heisman, hopeful, Diego Pavia, who barely scraped by getting on an NFL team. And it's a hundred percent due to If you take anything from Diego Pavia, it's, know, the NFL is looking for your character as well. And your character at Vanderbilt just showed you make it be a problem. ⁓ So I have Vanderbilt here. ⁓ I think Clark Lee and Clark Lee gives me hope over these other three teams. That's it. I mean, I do think Vanderbilt loses a lot. think Jerry Curtis is going to be maybe in the mix of they're going to have to play him because to get the money and to get the experience they need to make the money count in their sophomore year, I think they'll they'll play this year out. They'll they'll spend the money next year in the portal. Try to build this team back up to the Curtis is sophomore year. If he has enough reps and he is the real deal like Georgia saw him being the real deal. He didn't want to sit or don't know if he didn't want to sit or the money was overwhelming. We all know Georgia is not going to pay what some of these schools are desperately paying for. mean, and so there was no shocker when Jared Curtis went to Vanderbilt. It was money, right? It's like there was no shocker the last few days where we've seen, you know, four and five star athletes decommitting from Georgia. I mean, the players that not, that are decommitting, Georgia is invested in already. The other ones that are on the fence and decommitting is because they're better offers from places like Miami who I mean, let's just let's just be honest with Miami. They're they're playing with daddy's money. It's gonna run out sometime soon. I don't know where it's coming from, but it's gonna run out because I mean, I do think Darien Men's all look great. His sprint spring game was great, but you're also playing against the Miami defense who I don't know. They lost a lot. Also lots of the NFL a lot. Adam Fisher: Yep. It is. Yep. A lot. Ted Turner: So I don't know what to, I don't even want to go there and start that whole scene, but I got Vanderbilt here. What you thinking about Vanderbilt this year, Fish? You like him in this spot? Adam Fisher: Yeah, but you know again big drop-off from from last year, you know like him or not Diego Brought a lot of explosiveness to that team on offense and but Clark Lee is a good coach man He can get he can make people you know want to run through a brick wall for him He's a great motivator and he's smart. You know, he's very smart and calculated and everything he does so Right here sounds good, but I think the next four teams are all gonna be on the same level. But like I said earlier, any one of these 13 teams, these top 13 teams could rattle off seven, eight, nine, or maybe not nine, but seven, eight wins. Ted Turner: Yeah. Not six, seven, seven, six, seven. Okay. Old, old, old. Um, yeah, man. And I know I'm going to, I'm going to put you in a spot here, but this is where I got them, man. So I got Auburn at 12. Now I agree with you in some, in some notions, these are all post spring, right? What they're post spring. I don't think that this Auburn team will look the same come, you know, come Adam Fisher: No, not this. Ted Turner: August, September. Um, you know, I do look at what can Alex Golisch produce at Auburn, um, with Byron Brown and the USF JV squad. Um, I mean, how does this, how does this line up in the sec, right? There's been talk about Byron Brown and, uh, you know, he has, has a weird arm motion and Can he do this to say, he turn the same numbers out in the SEC that he did, you know, at USF? ⁓ and so I don't know. I do know if you're going off of his spring great spring game, it was pretty abysmal. ⁓ I he had less than 90 yards of passing. ⁓ but also, I mean, how much is Alex goal or shouldn't wasting, he isn't wasting time showing people half of, you know, showing Baylor half of his offense. ⁓ on that day. I do get that. I do get the quarterback can't really run and a lot of things that are created with Byron Brown are off the run and, off of him moving the pocket and moving his legs. And so I got Auburn here. I think the defense will, will continue to be solid. ⁓ I think, ⁓ you know, ⁓ keeping, keeping that defensive side of the ball intact coaching wise with DJ Durkin was it was a hit for goalish. I mean if goalish can just produce on the offensive side of the ball. mean no offense there. was a weird spring game, but it still looked better than what he freeze put on the field like would you agree? Adam Fisher: Oh yeah, 110%. So would my wife. Ted Turner: I he showed up and said it went to his golf game. That's a plus. Adam Fisher: Then he's not flashing any of his scores online or anything like that So he's already doing better than Hugh Freeze did last year ⁓ Yeah, I mean all they and you know, I think losing Ashton Daniels I like him Personally, I have but I also have an attachment to him because he's a former He's the son of a former UGA great Juan Daniels number 12 split in one of my favorite favorite all-time Georgia players ⁓ I loved him. He was great. ⁓ So I'm a little partial. I think that they should have fought a little harder to keep him. But not a lot of people like him or thought that he was all that. anyway, yeah, offense is going to show up because we know the defense will. And you know how much of the spring game was the defense just being that much further along than the offense is right now. Ted Turner: Yeah. And I agree. I think this is a time will tell they, they, have a, they have a chance to really, know, they out of the box, they play Baylor. I feel like probably one of the dumbest decisions they've ever made to, to take that game on, you know, to a neutral field. I mean, you'd love to have Baylor and Jordan here for Alice Golis's opening game and win that game. Yeah. When that game with Golis Adam Fisher: Holman. That place would be N U Ted Turner: they have a chance to go for an O before they step into Georgia. think, you know, ⁓ I think they have a great shot at going for an O if they'd be Baylor, you know? ⁓ and so this could change. ⁓ they moved that game to, I want to say it's Mercedes Benz. Yeah. think that games on a Friday night, ⁓ neutral site. Yeah. Yeah. They moved that game. So Adam Fisher: Where'd they move it to? Yeah. Where did they move that game? Really? ⁓ is it the Chick-fil-A game or whatever this year? Okay. Ted Turner: So yeah, man. All right. Moving it, moving it. So I got Missouri at 11, obviously a lot of star power loss on that defensive side of the ball. I will say that if I'm confident in Missouri, my confidence in Eli Drinkowitz to produce on the defensive side of the ball with as much things that are happening and which losses that they have is good. think Missouri will post a good defense. The biggest thing is, is in this offense, turn a corner. Obviously Austin Simmons coming over from Ole Miss. They've named him the starter. ⁓ But, you know, once again, you know, do they have the a lot of hard, he's a big chunk of this, right? So, you know, but I will say they have some lead way. I mean, I don't know what it looks like, but I know the first four games of the year. I'm pretty sure if I'm looking back, I we got Austin peanut butter some in somewhere in there. ⁓ And I think we got Arkansas somewhere in there and I mean, I think Arkansas could win the first four games without a mod. mean, I'm sorry. think Missouri could win the first four games without a mod hardy. ⁓ but obviously he's a big, a big engine in there, but I like Missouri here safely right now. What do you think about having them right there? Fish. Adam Fisher: I think 11 is a good spot. think, you know, we don't know what Auburn's about yet. So, you we don't know what that's going to look like. But, so yeah, but we kind of have an idea about Missouri, a better idea, a clearer image, so to speak, you know, about what we're going to get from Missouri this season and Eli Drinkwitz. Ted Turner: Yeah. Well, I will say, I mean, it, it, did sit down here and I looked and I went, man, we're, breaking the sad news of Ahmad Hardy. ⁓ and it does give me questions about, that enough for Auburn to kind of swap spots? Because I like what Cobb's done at Auburn. ⁓ and I like, I mean, we, we, we, the, biggest, the biggest thing for me was Austin Simmons has seen SEC. defenses and he's played against them and we've seen what you can do against them. And that's kind of what's riding it out right there. All right. At 10, I got, um, I got South Carolina at 10. This is another one. I agree with you could go a little bit weird, um, man, but then it makes you second guess yourself because I'm hearing that, you know, I think his name is, it's a left tackle. They just got, they paid an arm and a leg for, um, I think it's peak is his name. Um, But ⁓ just when they thought they went out and rekindle this offensive line, they're going to get Lenore Sellers some time. They go and they get Kendall Brials as their OC and you look at everything and then Shane Beamer is sitting there and there's people that are questioning are all these players that are hurt right now. Are they actually going to be there when it's time to when it's time to put up a shut up or to be waste all this NIL money and you went and let these players play, you know, pick up basketball and half of your NIL budgets sitting on the bench in a sling or a, mobilizers. So exactly. So, I mean, yeah, I like, I like the addition to Kendall Browns. I liked the addition of Lenora sellers. I merely, and if you ask, you know, you asked Shane Beamer, South Carolina is their playoff team this year. Right. I have them here because I can't trust anything until I see it. I can't, I can't see, I can't trust another Lenora sellers year at quarterback. Adam Fisher: walking around in street clothes. Ted Turner: until I see him being protected, right? What do think about South Carolina here? Adam Fisher: Somebody needs to tell Sugar Shane that they haven't extended the playoff to 48 games yet. Ted Turner: We're close. We're close. Yeah, you're right. Right when 24 hits, we're going to move to 48 the next day. Crazy. Adam Fisher: I know they're gonna be talking about it the next day. Alright, so when are we jumping to 48 64 72? Let's just mirror the NCAA tournament, know March Madness Let's just do that and then have like old Dominion and North Fault State, you know right in there Ted Turner: March Madness. nuts. Absolutely nuts, man. I don't know, man. Like that's the thing. That's the kicker for me. I like Nick Harbor. I like Lenora sellers. I like, you know, this defense. I like, you know, who's the kid that's going to go top five pick a defensive end for South Carolina. Let me see if I can pull his name really quick. It's right on the tip of my tongue. And of course it just updated. Adam Fisher: Me too. Ted Turner: Who's this kid's name is going to be is going to be a top five pick next year. Not down there. But yeah, I mean South Carolina looks so so Carolina looks to be I just got to see that offensive line. It's going to it's going to rise and fall on if Lenora sellers has time to do what the North solos can do because people may not realize this but the North sellers has a lot less rushing yards than you would think now. He's been sacked 110 times. That doesn't help his positive ratio to rush yards. But Adam Fisher: Yeah, he's a monster. Exactly. Ted Turner: Byron Brown comes in ⁓ and you know, Byron Brown's putting it to him in the area of rushing yards. So it's going to be, it's going to be, it's going be weird. I just got to see what this offensive line looks like. I they're safe at 10. They're about, know, where they need to be. I got, I got Florida, the Florida Gators at number nine. I think Florida could do, this could be a year. If I'm hearing coaches talk about their teams from new coaches, this is a guy that has me pretty pumped up. As a matter of fact, he said that if he, if he didn't make a bowl, he might as well just jump from the top of the stadium. He literally quoted said that he said, somebody said, you know, what's the, what's your, like, what's a great year for you this year? And you know, some, somebody said, is it eight wins? Is it nine wins? Is it playoff birth? And then somebody spat it out. They were like, is it a bowl game? And he looked over and he's like, if, if we don't make a bowl game this year, I'm just going to jump from the top of the stadium. So let's, let's pray to God. Adam Fisher: No, he's not wrong. Ted Turner: the HR didn't hear that Florida because they're going to be some pissed off people. But I like I like Florida here. What do you like about Florida here? Adam Fisher: Well, I think that's a good spot for them because I think, you know, as far as all the first year coaches, and I'm not counting the lane train as a first year coach, even though he's at a new school. ⁓ so, but new coaches in the sec of all the new coaches in the sec. ⁓ I think he's got the most legit chance, you know, to make the big splash this year and he's not wrong. ⁓ I think he's going to get. being a lot of, think he's gonna be hot seat material if he doesn't make a bowl this year with all the recruiting they did and what they got out of the portal this year. ⁓ All they need is a game manager. That's all they need. I think they just need somebody to get in there and be smart with the ball and not make turnovers and make really good decisions. And the play caller needs to help him out. And I think that's a great spot for Florida. Ted Turner: Right. Right. Yeah, I agree man. Eight. I got Tennessee man. So here's the thing. I'm not concerned about Tennessee at all. don't, I don't know. Something just tells me hypo. Whoever's back there, whether it's phase on Brandon or McIntyre that they're going to score points at Tennessee. ⁓ the biggest thing is, is can Tennessee and Jim know, can they, can they turn this defense at Tennessee back around and just be respectable in that area and not have to drop 50 points to be in a football game? ⁓ He might even be the most importantly, he might be the most important rank higher in the sec as far as swaying whether a team is going to do great things this year or be average. I mean, I think if I'm not mistaken and it's very, it's very weird, man. It's very kind of, ⁓ what's the word for it? I don't know what the word for it really is, but you got to look back and go, man. Is it is, is high pool going to rise and fall on the gym? Like it has to be a hit. Do you agree? Adam Fisher: Yeah, I think you're right. It kind of has to be and they're eventually going to lose patience. You know, he did make the playoff a couple years ago, but lost in the first round. ⁓ He's just been hitching his wagon to not. I mean, quarterbacks that aren't living up to the hype the past couple of years. ⁓ And I think that's his downfall as well, because he needs. You got to be smart around that offense and you got to be fast and you know. You gotta be able to move fast, not necessarily run fast, but like think fast, know, react fast. ⁓ Cause you don't have much time to settle in, think, you know, ⁓ just made a bad pass. ⁓ I got to turn it right back around. I'm under center six seconds later, seven seconds later, you know, however long between plays they, some sort of crazy number they have, you know, and if you can't get over your last play, you know, really fast, you're, you know, gonna struggle. Ted Turner: Right. Adam Fisher: And that type of offense, I think he just needs to find the right quarterback because I definitely don't believe that any of the previous three were the right guys for that. Ted Turner: Right. Yeah. I agree. I agree. Now this could be the most controversial place. Um, that if this stuff lands on the right social media outlets, we could have some pissed off people, but I got Alabama here at seven. Um, I think this is a crucial year for Kaylin to bore. Um, I think Keelan Russell looked really good. I think he will be the guy who comes out with the job at Alabama. Don't quote me on that. Um, but I think, think the defense will be pretty good. They did a pretty good job of the portal. I think some people are questioning whether, you know, the bore ⁓ kind of I kind of what I would call he didn't push all his chips in this year. In case, you know, he needs to build a team next year around Keelan Russell and Keelan Russell has a little bit of a growing pain type year this year. But I do believe that it's going to rise and fall like we talked about at Tennessee. This year will rise and fall on this offensive line for Alabama. If they can't run the football and Keelan Russell can't have some pressure taken off of him with running the football and the offensive line being able to protect him. This is why I have Bama at seven because I don't know, man, they had a much better offensive line last year and Ryan Grubb could not figure out how to run the football at Alabama last year. mean, Nick Saban is having heart palpitations when we're having to snap the ball. and run an end around on fourth and one or throw a left tackle screen to Caden proc. mean, Nick Saban's literally having heart palpitations, man, because we can't line up at Alabama and run the damn ball. So that's why I got them at seven, man. What do you have? You have Bama here. You got another place. I'm willing to hear it, but I just, I'm taking my chances and putting them here, man. Adam Fisher: So. So what you're saying about Nick Saban is hilarious. It's like, okay, he, DeBoer got the keys to the Ferrari, okay, and then he went and he found like the bumpiest, most pothole-filled road that he could possibly find in the state of Alabama, and he's going 90 miles an hour down it, just doing everything he can to mess it up. Like, how can you call yourself an offensive guru? Ted Turner: Mm-hmm. Adam Fisher: and hire Ryan Grubb who was ⁓ supposed to be the best offensive coordinator the college football has ever seen, you know, and do what they did running the ball last year. Like, I mean, even with mediocre talent, bro. Ted Turner: Yeah, I mean. Yeah. I mean, Nick Saban has, I mean, and I respect Nick Saban so much. I've listened to a lot more of Nick Saban's, ⁓ when he speaks on leadership, things of that nature and how he talks to other places, organizations and teams. But, know, I've heard him give the speech about what does it take to break you? You know, he talks about, know, how they take and they test glass and the way they test glass and or windows, I should say. is they go, what does it take to break them? And that's how they test durability and what's more, you know, cost efficient and, and, you know, less cost efficient. And, he talks about how Alabama, one of his big quotes is, ⁓ toughness, like we want to line up on the other side of you. And we want to be known for a team that, you know, we're so tough, like we can't be broken. Like that you physically don't want to play us. Now I just said all that and drew it out to tell you that there's not a lot of teams that are going to face Alabama this year. And I'm just here to tell you, including Georgia that are, are going to look at Alabama in the way that people have looked at Alabama in the past. And that doesn't bode well for Kaylin DeBoer because there are a lot of people out there that go, there ain't too many more times that Kaylin DeBoer can have these mediocre years that, that Alabama is not going to erode at the at the bottom of the foundation. Right. It's just, I think you said, mean, it's just hard. think it's hard for Nick Saban to look back at this and the Ferrari thing is absolutely right. I mean, if anything, I'd add to it. think he went, he went Ferrari to the scene, Nash lampoon's vacation. The, he goes to get the car and he thinks he's getting the blue silver, something sports, why the sports, whatever. And he ends up with a metallic P like Adam Fisher: and he gets the family truckster. Ted Turner: It's just, it's like that. Like you, thought you were pulling up for the blue sports car and you got the metallic P dude. And when we all saw the metallic P bro, it was a hot mess, dude. It was a hot mess bro. So I don't know for the time being, I just got bam with air, man. We're going to, we're going to dive deep into it over the summer, but that's safe for them. ⁓ I got Texas a ⁓ at six. ⁓ a lot of questions built around Marcel Reed, right? ⁓ Adam Fisher: It was. That works. Mm. Ted Turner: Marcel Reed for me is the big X factor in if Texas A ⁓ takes a step forward this year or takes a step backwards. He was prone to interceptions last year, big game scenarios. He just didn't show for me the big game atmosphere arm resiliency that that would just take Texas A ⁓ to being that dominant force. And he's going to have to do that this year because You know, you're dealing with a new play caller at Texas A ⁓ and we're really going to see if that's going to work out for him. So I got him at six here. The only reason I got him a little bit above Alabama is because I like what returns on the offensive line, the defensive line with Texas A ⁓ So what do you like about Texas A ⁓ Are they in a good spot here? Adam Fisher: I love Marcel Reed. I think actually six is a little low. I would have them at four. I would have them personally in front of the next two teams. Might have a little bit to do with all the respect I just lost from Lane Kiffin. But, you know, that's okay because I refuse to give that man props anymore. Like the way he runs his life and, you know, it's hard to put the personal aside, you know. Ted Turner: Okay. Yeah That's legit. That's legit, man. I can see that. Adam Fisher: It really is. And just look at the football aspect of it, which nobody's saying the man can't coach. But this eventually is going to spill over and affect the football side of things, I believe, personally. But anyway, Marcel Reed, I think is going to only get better this year. And I think he was very dangerous last year. And I think he's going to work on some bugs and he's going to work some things out. Ted Turner: Right. ⁓ huh. ⁓ huh. Adam Fisher: And he's gonna be a much improved quarterback next year. They're gonna have a dangerous offense next year. Ted Turner: dig that. I dig that. And I think you're right. I think these three teams coming out of spring, I think we'll see a lot more when the rubber meets the road per se in the fall. But I think the biggest reason why I had sex saying him and I had LSU and Ole Miss is because I do think that, um, without showing too much partiality, I do think Ole Miss still has one of the top three quarterbacks in the country, uh, on their, on their roster. And I still, and I think LSU, you can't count out lanes offense. Adam Fisher: chance of not that. Ted Turner: ⁓ you can't count out the fact that they spent $45 million on this roster. ⁓ that doesn't always connect, but, if they can get it to connect, he had a lot, ⁓ I mean, he had some talent at Ole Miss, but the talent he's able to garner up in the small amount of time at LSU, if it all clicks, ⁓ the only positive thing I have to say about like giving the night is, like, he's wasting running his mouth and he's wasting his background and his legacy. on what he's wasting it on because he's a hell of a coach and he's a hell of an offensive mind. That's the only thing I think I don't even say he's a hell of a coach because that encompasses everything. He's a hell of an offensive. That's all I'll say. I got Ole Miss at five. I think what you the questions for Ole Miss is that they did a great job of the portal. Trinidad Chambliss comes back. Kiwan Lacey comes back. A lot of skilled players coming back on both sides of the ball. I think the key this year is Ken. in the new OC, I think his name is John Parker. Don't quote me on this Wilson. ⁓ that might be an actor. I have no idea. ⁓ but can this guy can, right? That might be the right. Yep. Yep. Yep. You're right. I'm gonna get the name right when you're talking about it. But I think, ⁓ still, can they still be explosive? ⁓ I think Pete Golding will produce a pretty good defense. ⁓ but can they provide the offensive, ⁓ buffer per se? Adam Fisher: I know he's an old Alabama quarterback, John Parker-Wilson. Ted Turner: that Ole Miss has given this this Ole Miss defense, you know, peak oldest defense in the past to carry the team. That'll be the big crucial answer. And can Trinidad have the same kind of offensive line play and they run the football effectively so he's not running for his life. Although he's pretty good at running for his life. It still doesn't make for a great scheme. Yeah, we saw we saw what do you think about Ole Miss here? I you mentioned you have these teams a little bit different, but if not here, what do you think about them in general? Adam Fisher: We saw it, first hand. Ted Turner: post spring. Adam Fisher: I think the offense is legit. We're going to be one of the better offenses in the SEC this year. It's hard to deny Trinidad and Kiwan Lacey do that running back. He might be the best runner back in the SEC. I know Georgia is in the same conference and I know I said what I just said, but that man was great. That man's good. ⁓ and Trinidad is just going to open up things. for him too, because you got to be aware of so many things with him at quarterback now. And if he has anything close to the type of season he had, as far as the game goes against us, know, Sugar Bowl last year, Ole Miss' offense is going to be scary good. Ted Turner: Mm-hmm. Yeah. I agree. John David Baker is what I was looking for. Now Parker Wilson, man went straight. We were talking about Alabama that might've had some like things going on in the back of my brain. ⁓ fourth, I got the LSU Tigers. think, ⁓ just laying Kevin's offensive mindset could become very terrifying if Sam Levitt can run it. And if he's healthy, ⁓ can be terrifying. They have great athletes at LSU. have a great, they've, they've Adam Fisher: There you go. Probably. Ted Turner: compiled a great roster. Help the QB biggest question can Sam Levitt is Sam Levitt going to be able to run that offense or is it going to be somebody like a couple of these kids that they brought in with a lot of talent. But I don't know if it's ready yet quite yet to be this year. I think a lot of that stems off of how that can click early. And I think once again Blake Baker returning as defensive coordinator for LSU that's a great piece of the puzzle on that side that keeps stability there. So if we're betting on anything, we're betting on lane Kiffin and the offense. And I do think that. I mean, I bet pretty high on that, man. I mean, this is definitely LSU has to be a playoff team this year. You can't have that roster and not be, ⁓ I got them at four, but for, for lane Kiffin and hopefully his mouth, he might want to produce a better looking, ⁓ a better looking team than his, his quotes. What do you, what do you think about LSU? Do you have them here? Do you have them lower? Adam Fisher: I agree. Nah, I mean just nothing but personal reasons why I would have him earlier because everything you said is money. I mean, he's a great offensive man. I'm not going to say generational, but he is the man knows how to put an offense together and he knows how to run out of the portal and he knows how to get a bunch of guys to play well together that haven't been around each other much. And that's impressive. You know, I mean, cause a lot of people are scared to even try to do. what he does with the volume of transfers he brings in and out of wherever he's coaching. So, know, props to him. You know, we'll see. As you said, when rubber meets the road, you know, we'll know. Ted Turner: Right, right, right. Yeah, I agree. Yeah. Yeah, man. It's gonna be, it's gonna be fun to watch. I mean that first, that game with that Ole Miss, Ole Miss LSU game, man, the popcorn better be on and yeah, the beers better be cold. ⁓ I got, know, in these next three, you're going to see, let me say the next two, let me, let me be a little partiality here, but I think the next two teams. Yeah. ⁓ Adam Fisher: I agree. Great line. That's all good. It's our podcast. It's called dogs down south so Ted Turner: There you go. There you go. So it's not the long horns down, ⁓ down north. Yeah. So, ⁓ but, I think a lot of these teams will go, could go different ways for a lot of people right here. I think a lot of people though have Oklahoma in this spot. got John Matier returning. It's all built off of if he can be healthy. ⁓ you know, can they get offensive firepower to mix with Finnebills defense? ⁓ it looks nasty. Again, they added this kid back for his 10th year of eligibility after they gave him a waiver. This just blows my mind. These NIL waivers, man, like I stumped the toe when I was Adam Fisher: What's the criteria bro? Like what's the criteria? Why does some people get it and some people don't? I mean, it makes no sense. Ted Turner: there obviously isn't one there obviously isn't one it's it's basically you know if you show if you show it for one you got to show it for the other but you got to you got to make sure that you set the standard what the standard is because once you lower the standard it gets a little bit muddy hence the name you lower the standard so it's in the ground it's but yeah I mean Brent Venables is gonna have a great defense I mean Nagy has has shown to be a great Adam Fisher: Exactly. buddy. Ted Turner: asset and somewhat of an NIL GM for Oklahoma. Um, you know, they added receiver transfers, trail Harris from Virginia, uh, Parker Livingston from Texas, um, to join, uh, Isaiah Satana. I like that name man. Satana Satana, man. Um, but I mean, this is, mean, they've added some tight ends. Um, I don't know if you guys noticed that he also did a walkout on Morgan wall and, but, Adam Fisher: Sertania. thousand. Ted Turner: the kid from Tennessee man was a tight end at Tennessee is the tenant is the tight ends coach now ⁓ at Oklahoma and his name is is it Witten what was Jason Witten man is the tight ends coach at Oklahoma. Now a lot of people think it's because his son is a huge target tight end target and you know to make sure and kind of get him to come to Oklahoma. It's like I'll let you come hang out and you know wash wash some tight ends for a couple you. Adam Fisher: Jason Witt. Ted Turner: Couple of years, we can get your son on campus, but I don't know. Um, but he will be, got, I got Oklahoma here. Um, what, what do you like about Oklahoma this year? Adam Fisher: That's hilarious. Mm-hmm. John material, bro, and I'm not saying that because it's on the notes I'm saying that because I want to see what that man can do without a hurt hand You know and doesn't have to rush back from an injury, you know, let him put together a whole season healthy. I hope he does ⁓ Got nothing Really bad to say about him, you know, he's gonna improve, you know I know he's working hard on his craft this summer and this offseason And you know, that's three is a really good spot for them because I think they're just still just a little smidge behind the next two teams. Ted Turner: Yeah. All right. So I got Texas at two. ⁓ Arch Manning, do it look more comfortable in this offense, right? It's deep Sarkisian offense. Even though I've said this multiple times, he's Sarkisian. ⁓ time at Texas, every single year, the offense has digressed. This could be a year where it doesn't, but I don't know if it can digress any farther. ⁓ additions of Hollywood smothers, cam Coleman, if this offense goes backwards anymore, ⁓ This is a ticking time bomb. Does it get the feeling fish? I mean, we could talk about Texas a lot. We're to talk about them a lot because in the off season, Texas and Georgia are picked both in different media pools to finish first in the sec in these spots. We'll talk about them a lot, but I guess the big question I have is, is does it feel like a make or break year for Texas? Like what is boom or bus for Texas is boom like national championship and bust like win a playoff game or is it like even if they make a playoff game, is it a bus? Like, it like fans won't be happy if they, if they take this roster, which is 40 plus million dollars and they just make the playoffs and they lose like his Sarkeesian still screwed. Adam Fisher: Maybe and and I think that you know I'm gonna I'm gonna not come to the defense of Sark by any means But I think Quinn Ewers was way overrated Way overrated I don't think he was near as good as As advertised and I still don't and maybe he'll go to the NFL and have a great, you know, maybe he'll play and have a good career with Miami. Is he still in Miami? He's still in Miami, Ted Turner: Who are we talking about? When he was, yeah, he's at Miami. Adam Fisher: Clint Ewers. Okay, and you know, but yeah an arch underperformed last year because you know good lord The man would have had to put a Heisman campaign together just to keep up with what the media was saying We should expect from him But he at towards the of the year you got to admit the man looked good man looked a lot better So, you know, I think Oklahoma right here at two was good. I think make or break Probably Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah. Adam Fisher: I think he'll definitely be on the hot seat if he's got to win a playoff game this year. Ted Turner: Yeah, no, a hundred percent. I agree. I think, I think if he doesn't make the playoffs, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he's fired. If he does not make a playoff game with this roster and the amount of money they spent, he's fired. If he, if he goes to the playoffs and wins one, he survives maybe with a hot seat. And obviously in order to go make them happy, I think he's either got to play for the national championship or he's got to win it. Um, I think that's where we are. I you're year three of arch meaning everybody thought this should have been year two of arch meaning because you don't I don't think you have a we don't think you have a fourth year. Do you I mean, well, I'm sorry. This is your four, right? This is this is your four for seems like it seems like he's been in Texas forever. Adam Fisher: sat, played, is yeah this is yeah and it does seem like it. I think this is three. Ted Turner: Yeah. And obviously finished at the end. And we talk a lot about, about Georgia and our roster. I have, we have Georgia here. ⁓ man, what can we say about Georgia? We've said it a lot, tight end depth, ⁓ Gunner Stockton, ⁓ wanting to be more, ⁓ just lethal this year, wanting to, you know, push the ball downfield at a higher rate. ⁓ defense looks elite again. ⁓ and we looked like that without a lot of these players that didn't even suit up for G day, right? ⁓ so Georgia strong again. ⁓ so I'll finish the night with this. We were going to do a little all Kirby smart team, but we'd like to keep it to her out of power hour. But what do you think, ⁓ you know, just finished out the night, like, what do you think is the most crucial piece of why Georgia is sitting at these rankings right now? These are my rankings, but why do you think they'd be here at one? What gives you the best post spring? ⁓ confidence that they're here above a Texas or above an Oklahoma. Adam Fisher: ⁓ Definitely want to unpack the all-Kirby team. Next week I'm down if you're down. Okay, because that sounds like a fun one. Alright, Georgia, Kirby Smart, the most proven coach in the SEC right now. Most proven coach in all of college football right now. I ⁓ would expect nothing less. Ted Turner: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. No, definitely. We will do. We will be on next week doing that. Yes. Yeah. I agree, man. We're going to talk about when we got up, we got a whole off season, man, but I just really think the more we unpack this team over the summer, the more exciting people are going to get. And there's been years where we've sat here and I'm not going to lie to you. I think some years we forced them want to be excitement. And some people were like, man, we were excited about this because of all the things we've heard, but I'm excited physically about what I'm seeing from some of these, some of these players and some of these, ⁓ relationships that could only get better, ⁓ over the summer. ⁓ so super excited about that. That's our, that's how we're unpacking our 16 as far as, ⁓ post, ⁓ G day fish where we're, finishing up for the night. We will unpack the all Kirby team next week. ⁓ but my battery says we're, dying right now. So that means we're coming to a close. Any final thoughts for tonight? Adam Fisher: Just another week closer. know, another week closer, America's got talent right around the corner. That's my barometer. That's how I measure how close we're getting. We're getting there, man. School's getting out. I mean, just closer and closer. Can't wait, Ted Turner: Another week closer, I remember that man. I remember that Yeah, man. Yeah, man. All right, my brother, we will be, we will be with you next week. We will definitely put it on the radar for the all Kirby team. That'll be a fun one. But for myself and Adam Fisher, the fish, make sure you follow us on Apple podcasts, YouTube and tick tock Spotify dogs down South, as well as Facebook dogs down South. You guys have a great night and as always on dogs down South, go dogs. Adam Fisher: Yes. Go dog. Ted Turner: bro. I did not realize I had to hook up my freaking computer.
