Transcript
- 0:11[SPEAKER_04]: Welcome to the low-red zone draft podcast.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_04]: The first episode with me Simon Clancy and my special guest, my good friend Mr. Carl Crambs from A to Z Sports, how are you mate?
- 0:20[SPEAKER_02]: Simon is great to be on, excited to talk a little NFL draft.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_02]: This is a very interesting class, so to make sure we're gonna spend a lot of time getting into the weeds on and excited to get things started, man.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, finally we get to do something to get rough through all these years excited myself to do this.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_04]: You and I were talking this morning at Hapa's four in the morning your time, Hapa's nine nine time.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_04]: And I just would like to make a confession right now that I was still in bed.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_04]: when you were talking to me with this way more about me and it doesn't about you.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_02]: So I want to be fair.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_02]: I had my laptop now in bed.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_02]: So I didn't get off the ground any better, but I didn't have it on standby to pull it out when we need to.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_04]: Good.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_04]: I figured you might be off and maybe the cheer will do something that I was going to let you laze it around a bit.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's laying around.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_04]: That's good.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_04]: Look, Carla and I are going to be here every week talking about a draft, we're going to be breaking down prospects, gazing what teams might be thinking and pretty much everything in between.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_04]: And then when 2026 is over, we will turn our attention to 2027, some are scouting all of those things.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_04]: But let's kick off mate with a big old sort of nebulous question to get us going.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_04]: We sit here a few hours after the deadline for underclassments to declare, where are you on the state of this, of this class as a whole?
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I think if you calibrate your expectations of what kind of roles these guys can fill for your roasters, like I think it can still be a very productive graph class.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's missing kind of the top half of the first round depth that you would like to kind of appropriately set the value all the way down.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_02]: I think that trickle down effect you're going to feel all the way through.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_02]: But if you're looking for a designated password, if you want to develop mental ex-receiver, or if you want some high floor interior offensive lineman, if you
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: I won't touch quarterback class.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_02]: It's a little bit of a different piece.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_02]: But I like some of the depth that's available in the secondary.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_02]: So I think this is a good class to have some needs there.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_02]: The linebacker group, I was just watching Josiah Trotter this morning for Missouri.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to gas him up.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_02]: He's a lot of fun on tape.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_02]: So I think he could be a productive class, but it's not the most robust class as far as like surplus talent with relative to where you're picking.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, there's a lot of good kind of middle of the roster kind of play it up in terms of, you know, really solid 10 year players who might not be super stars, but are just going to do a really good job for your your franchise through that period.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_04]: Like I said, there's some corners I like and some good results.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_04]: It's a really good receiver class, especially like at the top, but also in the middle.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_04]: I think you'll get some really good.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_04]: some really good players.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_04]: Speaking of underclassment, as we did here is the full list of the 42 names of declared Keith Abney of Arizona State, C. J. Allen, Aaron Anderson, Chase Bersontis, Denzel Boston, Zachariah Branch, Ariane Carter, Kate Casey, Brandon C. Say the interesting corner from South Carolina, Casey concepts your own of Texas A&M, Dylan Devizen from Notre Dame, Caleb Downs, Charles Du, Logan Fano, Spencer Fano,
- 3:19[SPEAKER_04]: Jalen Farmer, Celtic Folkmonger of Freeling is an interesting guy that will get to, I'm sure, over the next few weeks, a guy that's getting some first round carbon, Anthony Hill of Texas Colton Hood, Ola Irony, of Penn State, and at Johnson Max Clare of Ohio State, the two U.S. receivers to Kobe Lane and McIle lemon.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_04]: Caleb Lomu, a lineback where I love Carl Louise of Pittsburgh, Jeremiah Love, Jamad McCoy, the great Tennessee corner who hasn't played this year because of the torn ACL in January, Katie McDonald, Malik Mohammed, a guy that Carl and I have been talking about for a long time, Camari Ramsey, the safety at USC, are the Reese.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_04]: She should be in the top five, Jimmy Rolder, Kenyan Sadeek, generously Smith, Carlos T. Avion Trel, Dylan Tinnomin,
- 4:03[SPEAKER_04]: Josiah Trotter, as Carl just mentioned, Jordan Tyson and Torian York, and then the following players notified the league that they'd fulfilled their degree requirements, so their eligible for selection as well, and that's Jude Bowery, Parker Brails, for the undersized Alabama Center, Chris Brazil.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_04]: Ryan Eccleat, Puntur de Clairs, Jack Andrews, Jalen Kilgore, Martin Klein, a European Titan, the Michigan Kid, Conaloo, who tour his ACL, a Christian Miller, Brian Parker, TJ Parker, Hal Perkins, Jadarian, Price, Caden, Proctor.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_04]: Billy Schrauth, the Notre Dame God, Ty Simpson, who will get to in a minute, a mile Wagner of Notre Dame, Antonio Williams, the slot receiver at Clemson, Wesley Williams, of Peter Woods, and Colin Wright.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_04]: Anybody stand out for you there?
- 4:44[SPEAKER_04]: Carl, any names that sort of jumps the four immediately?
- 4:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I, um, I think we really needed the emergence of a guy like a Kaden McDonald with the defensive tackle class, uh, just kind of looking at what Caleb banks played in two games at the end of the year.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: I think he was less than a hundred snaps.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_02]: The ended up giving you, um, I did not think that Peter Woods had a very good year for Clemson.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: I thought his tape last year was much better than everything that I've watched from him this year.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_02]: I felt like he kind of regressed in in my view from.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_02]: technical standpoint and you saw kind of these flashes and you said, OK, like maybe let's get another 400 snaps and whatever role we play for that front under our belt and you can maybe kind of start to see that Christian Wilkins type development as a guy that came from the same school.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't see it this year, right?
- 5:32[SPEAKER_02]: So like to get a guy like.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: Kate McDonald who is not going to have the most robust past rush profile, but what he does against the run and with the lead kind of being at this really staunch belief right now playing too high and eliminating explosive plays like being proficient in runfits with six and a half in the box seven in the box.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_02]: You have to be able to do it and a guy like that can kind of set your entire front from the middle.
- 6:03[SPEAKER_02]: So I kind of expect him to go in the same range is where some of those run stoppers.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_02]: I think Alfred Collins is probably the floor when you consider where he went to San Francisco in the second round last year.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: What Tyler Williams went late one to Detroit.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's kind of the range that I see for a guy like that.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think he's a really good player.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_04]: I'm not sure whether or not he's as a lime investor tar maybe as Williams, but some of the hand power and the physicality and just he's just imposing his name.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, what was he 326 pounds?
- 6:40[SPEAKER_04]: He is a really interesting player.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_04]: I wonder whether what do you think about the Clemens and kids because it felt like an invention would's there, but you know, teach a parker, cave club, and like all kind of had really disappointing years.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_04]: give or take.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_04]: Is that a pleasant thing?
- 6:53[SPEAKER_04]: Is that how they maxed out already?
- 6:55[SPEAKER_04]: Because it just feels weird that so many of those kind of high-line, high-level players that we looked at as potential first rounders coming into the year just didn't develop in the way that we thought they would.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a more disappointing unit than what it was was Woods was a top 10 pick and all the monographs in August and TJ Parker was a top 20 pick and all the actually they gave you into real probably played the closest what the expectation was.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_02]: But that influence they kind of got their butts kicked on a number of.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_02]: of games that they played this year.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: I still saw some likable things like I'd still probably be comfortable with TJ Parker if you said top 50.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's still an appropriate range.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you're to see him down at the senior ball.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm hopeful that that'll be a really good showcase for him.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_02]: But Peter Woods, like, that's going to be a tough one for who was the Johnny Newton and Johnny Newton fell a little bit because of some medical stuff.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the injuries, yeah.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: But that could be like the trajectory for stock that I could see play out for Peter Woods.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_02]: But as far as why I think you saw in it kind of echoed, you know, a couple of dolphins guys here echoed the the second half of some dolphins defense games this year was what it felt like you saw on tape with Clemson sometimes versus like all right man like where it's not going to happen for us today.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_02]: And like I think you felt that at times on tape, which is not exactly what you you want to see.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that's probably some of the context is why some games went
- 8:35[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think you're right.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_04]: And we're going to have some fun with the the blue chip quality or lack there of the class at the end of the show.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_04]: Well, let's kick off this first edition, talk about a position group that everybody wants to know about.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_04]: People only really want to talk about, hear some punters, I mean, call it back.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_04]: Sorry.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_04]: Were you surprised by the Dante more news that the fact that he decided to return to Oregon for another, especially with the signing of Dylan Rialer, where do you stand on that call?
- 9:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I, I was surprised.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_02]: I probably shouldn't be.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_02]: There were some context clues that maybe this was going to be a long term play for Ryle.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's, I have a hard time faulting a kid for going back to school and I do think he'd been if he should benefit from more time, but I also can't help but have what happened to drowler in the back of my mind.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_02]: and Aller got hurt, you can't control if you get hurt or not.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_02]: Aller didn't really take the next step and he was supposed to in the first half of the season in Penn State, where if he'd have come out after the Penn State, then he lines made that playoff run last year and almost pulled off the win against Notre Dame.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_02]: In last year's class, where does he go?
- 9:48[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there was some talk that maybe you could have drummed it up to him being the second quarterback off the board in front of Jackson DART.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_02]: would it have actually played out that way?
- 9:59[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_02]: But I do think it is a risk.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_02]: And I know NIL helps to mitigate the risk.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_02]: But if I were Dante more, and I'm looking at the landscape and the supply and demand that I know I'm going to get drafted early,
- 10:15[SPEAKER_02]: Um, it would have been a hard decision for me to make to justify coming back just because I do think that there is risk that's involved with him coming back in what should be a class in 27 that everybody's eager to crown is like that an express thing.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_02]: It'll be better than this year's class for sure.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_02]: So at that point, like, okay, QB2 and a QB spares year versus what if you play better, but you're still QB4, like you might lose money in that exchange.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I suppose the young to you, and I was going to ask you about the argument about the full interviewer commas of Aller and Club, and it has it pertained to more.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_04]: I suppose from my point of view, I don't think there's anything wrong with making yourself a better player, right?
- 11:00[SPEAKER_04]: He's 20 years old, you know, he's a baby, and I know that he sat behind Ellen Gabriel and, you know, he's more experienced in terms of just being around football.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_04]: But to me, I don't think it matters that much if he goes from being the second quarterback in 2026 to being the fourth quarterback next year.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_04]: Because to me, I think it's the long game.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_04]: It's about having that long ancestral career and backing himself.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_04]: Why wouldn't I, I don't for a second,
- 11:29[SPEAKER_04]: in hearing people talk about Dante more and I don't know people at Oregon but I know people who know people and they say that he is a really super smart kid he's super driven and the very lasting Dante more would be thinking about is oh you know I'm going to be the fourth quarterback next year he will be thinking I can absolutely be the first quarterback next year and that's the long game decision that he's made so the kind of the young to your young as it were and I don't
- 11:59[SPEAKER_04]: What do you think that means then for the, and we'll get into this?
- 12:03[SPEAKER_04]: But what do you think that means for the, for the new objects in terms of their situation?
- 12:08[SPEAKER_04]: Because we would have argued and we'll get to Mendoza in a second, but at the moment acting as if Mendoza is the de facto number one guy, felt like Dante more to the jets than was the, what, what, what, I mean, if you are, if you're in that jet's front office and you see that come up on the, on the wire, what's the reaction from the jet's front office?
- 12:28[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's laughing with Russ because we're dolphin fans, but I had heard some level of buzz that they may be interested in a bridge quarterback, like I should roll of the dice on somebody with some upside anyway.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_04]: So I'm a key or a male equalist or a.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_02]: Either that or if one of these vet guys shakes loose that you can get for minimum that has guarantees on their salary like sign one of them for cheap and see if you can kind of catch the Daniel Jones lightning and a bottle type thing and if not you've got draft capital for 27 and that that's the downside to what the jet's do is that roster needs so much work that yes you were in a good position to draft the quarterback but
- 13:14[SPEAKER_02]: It would feel like to me if they to take in one and I know they've got some offensive line pieces.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: But their skill group outside of Garrett Wilson, we don't know what Mason Taylor is yet.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_02]: He looks really promising.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_02]: What's going to happen with Breeze Hall?
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: What's the rest of the wider sea resituation going to be like?
- 13:30[SPEAKER_02]: You've got a defensive minded coach, like how confident are we in the offensive system to develop a young guy with a bunch of young players?
- 13:36[SPEAKER_02]: A surrounding a young developing quarterback with a bunch of developing players also with inexperienced coaches.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think it's the end of the world for their build, because they have so much to do.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_02]: But I think you'll probably see them swing moderately high for probably a very cheap vet that, hey, we can maybe use this guy as a starter and keep pouring into the rest of the roster, which I don't know how much I like that process, but that seems like that's kind of been at their
- 14:08[SPEAKER_02]: on their mind, since they kind of sold off stock midseason.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I agree.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_04]: I assume as I said, we're pretty much agreement that Fernando Mendoza is likely the defect to a number one pit.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_04]: I was just Tom Brady will, Tom Brady is going to
- 14:24[SPEAKER_04]: I hate to say that, you know, compare and contrast at, you know, arguably the greatest call back of all time in terms of, you know, wins and stuff.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_04]: Brady's going to see a little bit of him in Mendoza wine.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_04]: What do you like about his game?
- 14:36[SPEAKER_04]: Because to me, I love the toughness, but I like the, I love the middle of the field away.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_04]: If he is not frightened of the middle of the field, which I think he's, um, it is really important, especially as that as he progresses to the next level.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_04]: But also one of the things I admire and, um,
- 14:50[SPEAKER_04]: We talked about it on the three hours per carry podcast on Monday about Drake May is that May knows where the easy button is to get the ball out.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_04]: You know, there's always those options underneath and and Josh McDaniel is obviously a great job of of just having an easy option, you know, whether that's Ramanjo Stevenson, whether that's Henderson, it's actually just dropping into the second level and just picking up balls when those outside passes aren't available.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_04]: but that to me is a really a really good trait that Mendoza has and I think about that whole shot throw that he made in its eye, we're down the right side line, I've not seen a better throwing college football and to me the third and long tape, Daniel Jeremiah always talks about, you know, what's he like on third and seven plus and I go back and look at some of that and think actually this kid knows what he's doing and there are plenty of really likeable traits about Mendoza
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, um, what I appreciate is anytime he talks about a rep, and he, he frames it for you in a way in which it makes it abundantly clear like he understands what he's looking at when he gets up behind center.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_02]: And that being a thing that like you can work on the tools and what kind of flexibility you have at the line of skirmish to make adjustments or change the protection or or check to a player.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_02]: You can add all that on, but you can tell how intelligent he is.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_02]: Above average traits across the board really I think is is accuracy splendid I think he's got a good arm from an arm strength standpoint he's got good size he's got above average athleticism for especially for a guy of his stature.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: And you pair that with like that's where Tom one right is appearing between the years and to have men those would be as mature as he is.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_02]: free snap and processing and identification of coverages and this is what they were trying to do and I knew that if I looked at this guy, I could manipulate that defender to throw the ball here.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_02]: He was breaking down the touchdown past when the game ends Penn State.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_02]: That's the one that really stand down.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, they can do that.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_02]: You feel pretty good about the ability to transition to the pro game.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_02]: It's what's around you and how quickly you can bring it to life, but like he's got those foundational skills to do that.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, 100%.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_04]: And Indiana kind of run this sort of sort of three tier offensive scheme done.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_04]: It's motion and shotgun with a heavy RPL attack.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_04]: Mendoza rarely keeps it off the zone read, but when he keeps to throw, it's often 1-2 or 3 routes.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_04]: So it's quick out, it's a slarts, the 10-yard out, so it's sort of things.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_04]: So he does that really nice job of throwing on time, keeping away from the ball away from the defender.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_04]: But then the third element is what he talked about, it's where he turns into a more natural kind of dropback pass.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_04]: puts the ball down the field to the outside, stands tall in the pocket, he doesn't drift off the midline, and the back shoulder stuff is as good as I've seen from any college court back.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_04]: There's people going to knock, we're kind of in knocking season aren't they, aren't we?
- 17:39[SPEAKER_04]: But you mentioned it there, there are transferrable skills and plenty of them that make you think they'll succeed fairly quickly at the next level.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, I think the chemistry that he has, I think one of the things that if on the Raiders, I'm trying to add Sarat at Watch.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_02]: And you don't really take advantage because that chemistry that exists, as you said, guys that click like that, like how long does it take to build that?
- 18:03[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, he was a transfer in.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_02]: So it's not like he's had a bunch of time on tasks, but at the same time, like you get a connection like that, and that guy's available.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: You
- 18:15[SPEAKER_04]: 100% red zone stuff as well as next level.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, since 2023 or numbers here, 53 total touchdowns, 43 passing, 10 rushing.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_04]: And only one pick in the red zone is, I mean, those are, again, a fascinating and really strong numbers.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_04]: Who do you see is QB2 at this point?
- 18:32[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I assume that we're kind of thinking along the same lines, Tyson, Sonor, or Trinidad Chambers should the NCAA not grant him that six year of eligibility.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_04]: What are you standing on those two guys?
- 18:42[SPEAKER_04]: What order do you have for me?
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think Chamblis has a lot more excitable physical skill set.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that gives you kind of a floor to work with.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_04]: Ty Simpson, I think.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and he's got, see, he's got more gas on on the ball.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_02]: And I think if you're going to take a guy in the range where this is probably going to mean the conversation, like I think it'd be very easy to lean into the physical traits as the thing that that kind of inspires you.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_02]: Now, if you can get Ty Simpson and get him to sit and
- 19:14[SPEAKER_02]: not rush that one.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_02]: I could see like his band of outcomes having a higher his like his upper band of outcomes having a higher total outcome.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_02]: But that's because I think he's sharp.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_02]: I just think he's under rep and man it's a big risk if he had 158 reps in 23 and 24 combined.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_02]: Like you're really working with a baby there in that regard.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_04]: You surprised he came out because I was pretty shocked, especially when that kind of second tier conversation happened and he was clearly being off of the money by Miami or whoever else it was.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_04]: I was pretty surprised and he didn't add to the experience level that he had although an Alabama star for told me three or four weeks ago that the feeling there was that he was leaning towards coming out.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_04]: So, but I was still surprised.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's um,
- 20:03[SPEAKER_02]: Somebody's got to be QE2, right?
- 20:05[SPEAKER_02]: And I think for Ty, 23 year old quarterback, I think that conversation that we had talked about about Dante Moore with the state of the class and what next year looks like and what's your best option, your best play?
- 20:19[SPEAKER_02]: I don't blame him for 23 year old rookie this year coming up.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_02]: had had a lot of good tape that was put on display this year, he might be a guy that the stock's not higher next year.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: So if those are your options and yeah, I don't blame being opportunistic, but it does put you at risk of going to the wrong situation which things could go poorly.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he started super well as well, didn't he, you know, September, October, December, weeks, yeah.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_04]: And you had guys, you know, you had people coming out and talking about him being QB1 and that sort of thing, but sort of faded back end of October, November.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_04]: super smart kid, the same Bama Starfer told me that he thought, everybody thinks he's going to be a head coach one day, but pocket navigation, the timing, the composure and the pressure, that middle of the field anticipation, the instincts were all super good, but he is the size of a kicker, and I don't mean Brandon Aubrey, he's a small, so he's a small play.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_04]: You know, he's a, he's a, he's a, he's a, he's a, he's a, he's a small guy.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_04]: Whereas Chandis, I know he is small, but, you know, I mentioned it earlier on.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_04]: He plays big in the pocket.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_04]: I like the, at the accuracy, the ball placement, the how he creates out structure.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_04]: Do you think that if the NCAA don't grant him that that final year, that he might be that sort of Lamar Jackson type in terms of somebody sneaking into the back of the, the round and, and, and using that fifth year option to, to draft him.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'd be surprised if he got that hot.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of see him in that, what, the Tyler-Shock range.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think is like, in a perfect world, that's probably where I would have that conversation with both Chameless and Tyson.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 22:05[SPEAKER_04]: I'm perhaps the most interesting question in the court about Stanley is actually, who you have as four and five.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_04]: Um, and I'll give you my full first.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_04]: That would be going nuts.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_04]: My, I mean, you and I were aboard the nuts bus for I had not got knocked the nuts bus.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: I still believe.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: I still believe.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_04]: I still believe too.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_04]: He's, I mean, look, I, I know he didn't have a great year and, uh, I, some of that was down to circumstances, much of the Brian Kelly.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_04]: He can be a riverboat gambler, but listen, he can make every throw, you know, he's strong working
- 22:40[SPEAKER_04]: He's anticipatory as a slower, I think the thing that I really like and the thing that we're standing in good stead is the processing.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_04]: How he's able to assimilate Watson front of him and how that was standing in good stead come, come, draft time because what he does in that system is really translatable.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_04]: We talked last year about Mason Taylor and how we thought he'd end up playing early because of the system that he works in.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_04]: This is the son of a coach, Nassmeyer.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_04]: who's been working in these kind of archetypal NFL packages 12, 13, 22 personnel staffs.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_04]: He understands the intricacies of those systems.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_04]: He understands blocking schemes, the double teams, the seal blocks, the stalk, the split flow staff.
- 23:20[SPEAKER_04]: And it's pretty easy to me to envisage plugging him in to a Sean McVay or a Kevin O'Connell style of offense and being pretty comfortable with the odds that he's going to be
- 23:31[SPEAKER_04]: OK, and I'm a pretty firm grasp of what's happening.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_04]: Would you feel the same, you think, you're not off the bus yet?
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: No, and another some physical regression there, but he played hurt all year, but you know, is he had the oblique thing like at the beginning of the season.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: And you watched the first game and the control at the line of skirmish.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_02]: And that's where I thought you really saw like the coaches son in him was like how he operated the operation of the offense and getting into the right play and having answers for pressure.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the
- 24:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's not as bad as the most recent flashes that you saw of Garrett Nussmeier were because he played her all year.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm willing to give some context to that one.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_02]: And I believe that there is a top 20 starting quarterback in the NFL packaging here in Nussmeier.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think that is very easily attainable for him with his player.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_04]: And I think once some of the down side things and the injury is really important, the depth of the down side things, you know, the realization that not every play has to go for a touch down, the tendency for no apparent reason to drift off the midline, the footwork, the get a bit choppy, the turnovers.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_04]: A lot of those things are really easily curable with the right coach and I think that's that's intriguing, I think for a team.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_04]: Who is your
- 25:01[SPEAKER_04]: maybe we different this.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_04]: Who is your fifth quarterback?
- 25:03[SPEAKER_04]: Who would you have a number five in you?
- 25:06[SPEAKER_02]: I've got a big, big, strong kid that can move, who also was hurt this year in Dreal or that, I want to, I'm willing to bet on those traits in the right range of the draft.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're talking QB5 and you're talking, fringe,
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: top 75, like back end of second round, like on the third round, I think the juice is worth the squeeze there.
- 25:33[SPEAKER_02]: I know that there was a lot of excitement about what that system was in Penn State.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_02]: I thought, you know, they ran so much of it through Tyler Warren.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_02]: I thought Penn State, you know, they had all these transfers saying that why receiver.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_02]: I thought they really missed Tyler Warren this year.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_02]: Like, and that was kind of eye opening to me as well.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: Um, that whole scheme, you know, that they were supposed to have several guys on the offensive line that really made jumps and play well.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think any of them did.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the backs were productive in Singleton and K-Tron Allen, but like, that's kind of where the offense started and stopped all season long.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_02]: And that was with or without drill hours.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_02]: So I look at that situation.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_02]: I look at the traits.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_02]: I still relatively young, but he had two years in Starty as a starter in 23 and 24.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_02]: So he's got, let's start stretch hold for experience.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's not always the most natural, but man, if you can get it to click, like, and in this class, I'm going to take the bat there and put it in.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_04]: He looks like an NFL quarterback done there.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_04]: And he's a big, dude, 65, 234.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he is, just to me, I just couldn't get over the, the kind of the,
- 26:42[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I go back and I watched a villain over game at the start of the year and it was so ugly Carl.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_04]: I just was like, this is, you know, he was generating fewer explosives than ever whilst he was putting a ball up for grab a small, but he does have that kind of physical power that, you know, the talk on the ball and, you know, there is
- 26:59[SPEAKER_04]: there is plenty to work with.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_04]: Again, I suppose as we talked about with Nusmai if you can get in the right, get the right coach and he doesn't have to play early.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_04]: He is an all-free big Cleveland Browns fan and they're in desperate need of a call back.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_02]: So, you just never know what you're doing about that, I go, you take the roster six quarterbacks, going to the training kit again this year like they did last year.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_04]: So, I really don't dread to think he was going to take over there and have to work that out.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_04]: My, and I've gone kind of wildcard a bit because somebody mentioned to me early in the season, just sent me some carbs this guy running the ball.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_04]: And it was just literally this kind of big, lanky dude just kind of cananing off people in the run game, like this kind of crazy giraffe on acid, a sort of a raw FBS Ryan Tannerhill,
- 27:49[SPEAKER_04]: Certainly, there was roar, I suppose, of the Bison Court that's going to the NFL, but I had this arm, man.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_04]: Down the field, somewhere is throws from 20 to 25, or as impressive as anybody you're seeing this draft.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_04]: And he's not some random, he backed, came, backed up trail ants, then behind Eastern stick, then behind Cam Miller, they played him, sort of under center, and even when he wasn't starting, and just in some sort of run formations, so he could just kind of get into the game before finally getting his chance to start.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_04]: But he was a gateway prior to the year,
- 28:17[SPEAKER_04]: In the state of Nebraska, a state champion, he is a just this ridiculous blend of downhill throw is kind of slightly elongated throwing motion and kind of kid that can just tear up the yards with his legs.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_04]: What do you think of paint and have you seen much of him?
- 28:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I've seen enough to know that the the the traits are there, right?
- 28:35[SPEAKER_02]: And he looks like a man amongst boys playing at the FCS level.
- 28:38[SPEAKER_02]: Is that what you want for quarterback in that regard, right?
- 28:41[SPEAKER_02]: Like I remember with Carson Wentz would do the senior bull that year.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_02]: And I remember seeing him on that field.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_02]: And it was like, okay, like very clearly the talent discrepancy does not exist here.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: Like feel pretty comfortable about him projecting as an NFL quarterback.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_02]: And who knows what that career would have looked like without the injury and Philadelphia in 17.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I think Peyton has a chance to not inject himself into like that stratosphere of the quarterback class per say, but like the offseason program is a big opportunity for him to kind of, and I know NDSU is one of those bigger FCS programs, but it's still off the beaten path for the casual draft nick and the casual sports fans and football fans.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_02]: So I expect him to,
- 29:24[SPEAKER_02]: In the same vein as Dr. Aller, like both like big strong traits he guys with like the ability to push the ball down the field, I think Peyton's a little bit.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_02]: He had certainly at least this year played a little bit more instinctive, but the wild card there is of course he did that at FCS.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, how do you balance that out.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_02]: So I think we're kind of in the right range of if you're going to be picking outside like a sure thing and you're talking mid round quarterbacks.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_02]: They better have ceiling, right?
- 29:54[SPEAKER_02]: Like, as if you're just drafting the Saints drafting J-Cainer and the fourth round or whatever year that was, it's like, well, very clearly the ceiling there's a backup.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_02]: Why would you use the pick in the middle rounds for a guy like that?
- 30:06[SPEAKER_02]: So the fact that we're in QB5, and we're talking about guys with trades, I think shows that we have the right perspective on like, what you should be hoping for even if the risk is a bit higher.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_04]: We'll get to some other guys over the next few weeks.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, carbonate tail and green that the core about that people talked to me about.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_04]: We've got some bills to pay.

- 34:00[SPEAKER_04]: Welcome back to the second half of the low-red zone draft show myself, my special guest, our Krabs, we're about to begin draft season properly.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_04]: We've had football season.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_04]: Now it's draft season, the next three months leading up to the draft for the All-Star games, etc.
- 34:12[SPEAKER_04]: So to start up, before we get out of here, give me your top 10 guys.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, best players only, not how you think they'll come off the board, just your top 10.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_04]: And then as we go through the rest of these All-Star games and the combine and the pro days, we can come back to this in three months time to see if our top 10 is still our top 10.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_04]: Do you want to give me your 10?
- 34:29[SPEAKER_04]: I would want to tell you how do you want to do this.
- 34:32[SPEAKER_02]: Give me your 10, and yeah, I'll give you the 10 that I have.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_04]: I have to give you the 10 that I have.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going one, 10.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_02]: Love it.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_02]: Do it.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_02]: Caleb Downs, safety of Ohio State, really.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_02]: So much, I think you could do with a player like that.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's really excitable.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_02]: I am still very much in on Ruben Bane.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not fading the arm length at all.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think if you have problems with Ruben Bane because of his arm length, I think that says more about you than it does about Ruben Bane.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm in there.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's really impressive.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_02]: I think our Valreys at Ohio State has the ability to be like the,
- 35:11[SPEAKER_02]: Deluxe version of what Jalen Walker was.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_02]: I think Reese's better off the ball.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_02]: Walker went top 20.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's a player.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_02]: You can do a lot of damage with, especially a lot of these sim pressure schemes that want to have guys coming from depth or playing off the ball and rushing the passer, but being able to get up on the edge.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_02]: I think that versatility is very helpful for him.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_02]: Jeremy, I love
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: running back from Notre Dame.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's very clean prospect.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: I love the size.
- 35:36[SPEAKER_02]: I love the explosive play element that he has and how he blends those two things together.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_02]: For an intimate dose of quarterback in Vienna, I have it number five.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_02]: Number six for me.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_02]: I'm I'm I wanted to buy on Cornell Tate.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna leave Jordan Tyson as the first-wide receiver though.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_04]: interesting, interesting, because I really love his guy.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_04]: I will get to receive us as we got.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_04]: I really love his guy.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_04]: He really really concerned me.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_02]: They really concern me too.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's it's it's weighing out Cornell Tate and I think Tate's an X that can, you know, you want to develop them to get down the field.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_02]: But right now he's like a big body Z to run the vertical stuff.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_02]: And and
- 36:21[SPEAKER_02]: So that to me is the conflict I have with Cardale Tate.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: Tyson, I think is a more do-it-all type of flare, but if we're going to put the injury risk off to the side, I'm going to put Tyson at number six as my wide receiver one.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to hit the target.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_02]: Is it your valuable damage on these styles?
- 36:38[SPEAKER_02]: Line back to Ohio State?
- 36:41[SPEAKER_02]: impact linebackers in today's day and age with the way that they can bridge the front to the kind of space you have to play with the safeties on the back end or huge deal.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I see so much very easily translatable elite traits with sunny styles.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_02]: So I think this kind of underscores with like we got a running back, we got an off-ball linebacker, we got a safety, we got an off-ball
- 37:08[SPEAKER_02]: I have sunny styles next on my list.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_02]: And then I'm going to go Mansour Delane and Gerard and McCoy back to back at corner.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_02]: Delane is the big time football IQ instincts guy.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_02]: McCoy would be a lot higher than this if he played this year, I think.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_04]: But what do you stand on that?
- 37:30[SPEAKER_04]: How do you feel about the fact that obviously towards ACL and January hasn't played all year?
- 37:35[SPEAKER_04]: That, you know,
- 37:37[SPEAKER_04]: He's a really good player, but that is a risk, right?
- 37:39[SPEAKER_02]: It is a risk.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_02]: I think the medical is at the common minor.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously it goes without saying that's going to be huge for him.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_02]: What makes me feel better is he's already a year removed from the injury because he had the injury in January last year.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like this guy was in camp in August and tore it.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_02]: So I see what I go back to the COVID year.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_02]: Guys like who opted out, Chase opted out.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, there were a number of guys that opted out of that COVID season and just said,
- 38:09[SPEAKER_02]: Because we're that far removed from the injury, I kind of like in my head, that's how I'm justifying it, but we'll see like what the reporting that comes right around the combine for what kind of confidence there is that he's going to be back.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_04]: And two years straight, one Oregon State wanted to see with no injuries.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you know, that does speak a little bit.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_04]: We're not talking about, and again, not to Doug on Jordan Tyson, but the torn ACLM CLPCR three years ago, then the broken collarbone, the hamstring issues this year.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_04]: There's a sort of a theme is maybe the wrong word, but you kind of, whereas it feels like it with the McCoy.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_04]: It's just one of those unfortunate accidents that happen, perhaps.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_04]: One more.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_04]: Number 10.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_02]: Francis Mario.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_04]: I mean we've got pretty much the same, we've got pretty much the same.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_04]: I've got Jeremiah Love at one, I just think, I've just just so clean, just so talented in terms of what you can do with him and I've got downs at two and you talked about it, but just that ability, you see these guys, the kind of the jailing petries of this league who can just, you know, whatever you want to do with them, whether that's played in a slot, whether that's in the box or, you know, as a single-high, whatever he just has all of the, all of the juice, I think he's just a fan player.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_04]: I have sunny styles at three.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, okay, his tape to me is just, I just blew me away, you know, and the football lineage, you know, his dad is obviously Lorenzo Styles, who, um, with their handpicked up the Falcons, want to see football, with the Rams, I just think he's, yeah, I mean, not a lot of holes in that resume.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_04]: There's not a lot of holes in that resume, you know, coached by James Laurenitis was a five star safety in high school and so I understand how to play.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_04]: I just think, you know, he's the prototypical modern line back to me.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_04]: They're great football intelligence.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_04]: He never misses a tackle, the range, the twitch, the versatility, the downhill explosion, the forcing the run game, the past rush juice often as a kind of a nickel blitzer.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_04]: And I just love the feel that he has recoverages, where he just moves like a safety.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_04]: I just think he's just a tremendous player.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_04]: I have reset for, and again, I just think the upside on Reese's is so huge.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, there's some of the screen game stuff as he is ridiculous.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_04]: Being at five, I think, and it could go higher.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_04]: I just think, you know, all the stuff you talk about the art next stuff.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_04]: The armament stuff's going to be fascinating.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_04]: The common is that with Bane, also it cashiers how the takes the same.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_04]: In terms of where that marries up and how teams figure.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_04]: But I think there's just so much you can do with Bane.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_04]: You can rush him from the end to his so heavy handed.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_04]: My God, he's just such a physical force.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_02]: Leverage and hand power, right?
- 40:55[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, if you can play under the pads of guys and you have the ability to reduce angles, the way that he does because of how powerful it is, like you don't need that separation.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_02]: your outside contained in the run game that can show up at times like there unless you're absolutely schooling guys when they're firing off the ball to try to knock you back, but from a rush perspective like
- 41:15[SPEAKER_02]: I think there's a lot of translate ability there.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_04]: And he comes off the ball so low.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_04]: Like, you know, he constantly wins the leverage battle because he does that.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_04]: And it's just violence and heavy handedness.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_04]: And yeah, I just, I think he said, I think he's just a phenomenal player.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_04]: And like you said, I think if you're arguing about Bain is his arm length, that says more about you than it does about Ruben Bain.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_04]: I've got Mendoza at six.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_04]: Interesting, actually, the one that actually there's two players that we don't have on the same.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_04]: I've got for David Bailey, who, I mean, he's, I thought he was much improved against the run this season, which is obviously not what we're talking about about, but he led the FBS in pressures with 70.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it's pressure, it is pressure right at the final three seasons in college.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_04]: It was 22.1% and if you think that Will Anderson's was 18% Jared versus was 18.3
- 42:12[SPEAKER_04]: I just think you're so super-tracy, just so explosive.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_04]: And he's one of the most explosive players of the ball that I've, you know, go back to that Utah game against Spencer Fano and Caleb Loma.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_04]: I just thought he was, you know, I thought his speed off the edges is frightening.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_04]: I've got Marogar at 8, I've got Carnell Tate at 9, and actually at 10, I've got to play who I've just, I just can't get away from how much fun he is, and that's McIleman, the European receiver, who is just a sort of a...
- 42:47[SPEAKER_04]: If you're going to tell me that you're going to get a sort of a jumped-up kind of amon rarsaint brown type who's just physical and you know he's the blit of cough winner just who's football IQ that I mean that to me is just so important in the gaming 2026 you know because you know we're talking about like reduced splits and routes that distribute from all over and being able to recoverages
- 43:11[SPEAKER_04]: when there's so much stone and so many post-nap changes, the ability to block all of these things to me are sort of slightly more important than any size or speed points.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think he's slower.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it's 5 every 177, you know, but he's really good.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_02]: What do you think he's going to run?
- 43:24[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's the biggest question for you.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I, I, we get as low four or five.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_02]: I would say, like, so it's somewhere in that ballpark.
- 43:31[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_04]: So I mean, you run so well, you don't seem to get caught a lot on tape.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_04]: That's the, that's the thing.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_04]: He's picking up a lot of kind of chunk yards.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_04]: He turns it to a running back when he gets the ball in his hands.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_04]: And I think I was trying to see, I was trying to look early on.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_04]: I don't have a track and field time frame.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_04]: So I don't think he's ever run track, but that will be really interesting in terms of.
- 43:52[SPEAKER_04]: But like he's supposed to be off the field, this kind of absolute kind of work, of course, his family cool and like an old soul, like the old man is his nickname, because he's just like he's so mature, he's so, yeah, I just think he's just a, he's a wonderful player and I think, you know, the Emma Rossing, I mean it's a cliche, but it's a cliche because it's kind of true.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_04]: I really like watching play and then I would have mental delaying who I really like and had a great year.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_04]: No touchdowns, no penalties given up this year.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_04]: He's a really good player.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_04]: And again, go on, sorry.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_02]: I was just going to say, what a great move for him to go from tech to the LSU, where like thought about maybe being the top 50 corner if he came out last year and then to go to LSU and have the season, which he did.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's the guys that choose to come back.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_02]: Like, if you have a change of scenery like that and you go from the ACC to the SEC and you play as well as
- 44:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's how it's done if you're gonna make that bet on yourself and he deserves a lot of credit for the season that he put together
- 44:49[SPEAKER_04]: 100% and also I've go back to last year or two years ago when he was with the Hokies that you know, playing in that zone skit.
- 44:55[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and then thrived this year in Blake Baker's Manmatch system with the Bay of Bengals, but also showed that when they switched up to Zoni and forgot not to play it, I just the instincts, the range, the diagnostic staff, I think he's a a really good player.
- 45:11[SPEAKER_04]: But again, I don't know about you, the senior bulb we really
- 45:16[SPEAKER_04]: in terms of how tall he is because I want to work with a lot of these under six foot.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_04]: He's listed it, I'm just a couple of kids, he's listed it at six foot one 90s, so I'll be being treated to see what he comes in at.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_04]: And then just before we get out here, one player then for you who's absolutely getting no publicity whatsoever, but who in three months time may well end up in the first round.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_02]: And it's that, so I'm going to lean on it being this kind of
- 45:46[SPEAKER_02]: where we have you have a running back at number one.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_02]: I have a safety at number one.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_02]: I've got awful we both have another awful linebacker and an awful linebacker hybrid type in the top of it.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's it's that kind of class.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_02]: I gasped him up at the beginning, just saw a trotter, man, he's, he's big, six, two, two, fourty, he's rangey, he's got family lineage, it's, it's Jeremiah Trotter's son.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_02]: So like you, you know kind of what you're getting from a football queue standpoint.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_02]: transferred into to Missouri.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_02]: He was formerly at West Virginia.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_02]: Holy smokes.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_02]: You get some of this guy slipping blocks and shooting gaps and triggering in the run game with zone drops and how he attacks.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's a really explosive and dynamic player.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_02]: He plays with good hand-bent like you see extension ability to deconstruct blocks at the point of attack.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_02]: His feel for when he's got a scrape and flow.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_02]: And if we're running outside zone and and he's the pursuit back around the back side and somebody gets up on the second level like he's comfortable to Take that lane and undercut that offensive line in that overplays him, but then not fully commit to I'm just going to chase now like he still adjusts his angles and it's it's the geometry of pursuit.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think with Trotter that I was really impressed with in traffic.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_02]: to see how he navigated some of those situations.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_02]: So in this kind of wild, weird year with safeties and running backs and linebacker like, if you told me that somebody said, this is going to be a quality starter for us at the end of the first round.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_02]: And there, Ergo, we're going to
- 47:28[SPEAKER_02]: Pick him there.
- 47:30[SPEAKER_02]: It would not surprise me now.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_02]: He's got to blow the testing out of the water, but he's young.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_02]: He's he's 20.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to turn 21 on April 15 there.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_02]: So he'll be 21 on draft day.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of ceiling that a lot of like very evident football IQ maturity that exists with a guy like this and that's a guy that I was really impressed with.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_04]: the instincts and the heavy handedness of the two things that were, and I've not done properly because I wasn't sure who was the clarinet, but those are the two things just on first look where you think, wow, the instincts are off the charts, but the hands are just so, and we talked about it with Ruben Bain, just how physically as we'd with guys.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_04]: I almost went, and I almost went really left field, and I don't think he will in any way shape or form end-up in this area, but Malachi fields of Notre Dame is not the dime picking.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_04]: But he's six foot four, he's turning 22 pounds, he ran in 11, 600 meters, there's a state champion 200 meters, he has a 681-3 cone, 22 miles an hour, glass on the GPS.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he is not the guy I'm picking.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_04]: I had a hard time keeping it, I think he'll go much higher than people think.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_04]: But the guy I'm picking.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_04]: is a guy and I've been dead be down on injury histories throughout this show, but Devon Moore, the corner back from Florida, who was 6,399 pounds, he's had some injuries, but my God, okay.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_04]: I turned on the tape and I like, no, but this was like, I don't know, opt early October.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_04]: Nobody was talking about him really at all in terms of like the jar.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_04]: And I was just looking at him thinking, am I, am I doing this wrong?
- 49:09[SPEAKER_04]: Like, because this guy has got speed signs.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_04]: He's long.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_04]: He's so smooth.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_04]: There's a mood that he's athletic.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_04]: He's versatile, played inside outside, he can play different schemes.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_04]: He's so intelligent, like his speed turn, his acceleration, his high point, the balls get out of sight, thinking, why is nobody talking about this?
- 49:30[SPEAKER_04]: And then at Fran Duffy, our friend from the Philadelphia Eagles, Fran put him in a first round mock.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, he looked.
- 49:37[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was great on you.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm not really the devil more if and again, we've talked about it.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_04]: If the combine medicals, he gets the all clear.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_04]: He is a really, really good player and I think that he could be somebody that.
- 49:52[SPEAKER_04]: that moves up pretty highly, potentially, depending on what's happening and whether he gets that all clear.
- 49:58[SPEAKER_04]: I just thought his tape was outstanding through the year.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_02]: So what stood out to me about Devon, I haven't done him in the same way that you haven't done Trotter.
- 50:09[SPEAKER_02]: I haven't done like a full on with Devon, but what I have seen, what was really notable to me was the transitional stuff.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_02]: When you're a big corner like that, and your levers are longer, and your hips are higher, and you've got longer strides, usually you feel those guys have to transition in space.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_02]: Not this one, like this cat can stick his foot in the ground and unlock his hips and drop his weight, and if he's sitting on an out from number two, and he's playing on the perimeter, he's playing off the ball like bang, he can stick his foot in the ground and he can really get into you in that regard.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_02]: Some of what I thought some of the flashes were from juju prints when he got drafted top if he from the cults when he was at Kansas State.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_02]: Now he's dealt with a lot of injuries.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's the worst case scenario for the longer corners and like the stress of playing backwards at times when you're a big body guy like that and more soft tissue stress don't like all that kind of stuff.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know where all that's going to fall with with them and more, but it.
- 51:14[SPEAKER_02]: I know what, he played 11 games this year and it was like a big deal because he stayed out the all season.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_02]: So there is a profile for guys like this and Lord knows the league still loves big corners.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 51:26[SPEAKER_02]: Every offensive coordinator is going to come into every game plan and they say guys we're going to want to make the corners tackle this week.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_02]: to try to block everybody else up and it's the corners are going to have to make the tacos in the run game in the sport and guys that have linked like that the gravitational pull at the catch point that's created from a size player like that that has fluidity to change directions.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_02]: You won't bet on traits, like some of these other, I know you like Julie and Neil.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_02]: I like Julie and Neil that Arkansas, but the transitional abilities are two different planets, right?
- 51:57[SPEAKER_02]: Like it's totally different, like the segmentation of a guy like Neil versus what you see with a guy like that.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Neil's got that sort of gather step that he needs just where it's more just just doesn't.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_04]: And just a guy with some kind of geeky stats.
- 52:11[SPEAKER_04]: In 2023,
- 52:12[SPEAKER_04]: He allowed five receptions for 30 yards on 12 targets in 2024, 120 on coverage snaps, allowed six receptions on 13 targets, and still had two picks.
- 52:22[SPEAKER_04]: He was a safety in high school, and there were times even last season where he rotated,
- 52:29[SPEAKER_04]: to play single highs.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_04]: Playing it's Texas where he does exactly that, it comes out over the it comes out of over the top coverage to the center field to run with the post, and as archman he fires the ball to the corner, he just flips his hips like he's doing that combine drill, gets the sideline, high points the ball picks off.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, just like when a 10, 1900 meters,
- 52:47[SPEAKER_04]: Um, yeah, I think he's a, I think he's a phenomenal player.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, the shoulder issues.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_04]: He's had, I think he had a torn lab where I think he broke a collarbone.
- 52:54[SPEAKER_04]: So there's obviously going to be some, some issues.
- 52:57[SPEAKER_04]: But I think he took a bit of a different approach this season in terms of working.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_04]: He worked very closely with the Florida nutrition staff.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_04]: He lost 12 pounds of fat.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_04]: He gained 15 pounds of muscle.
- 53:06[SPEAKER_04]: He was having things like regular blood tests just to make sure that everything was okay.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_04]: And like you say, played 11 games, stayed healthy.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_04]: And yeah, I think he said, I think he's a great player anyway.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_04]: We are done.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_04]: That's it.
- 53:17[SPEAKER_04]: Thanks for listening.
- 53:18[SPEAKER_04]: Carl, who have you got on Monday night?
- 53:19[SPEAKER_04]: My I'm on Indiana.
- 53:22[SPEAKER_02]: I know our soliciting.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_02]: So give me the key.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to go into the other.
- 53:30[SPEAKER_04]: You can catch me on my sub-stack, which is simply called the low-rids zone, and I am Cycrancy on Twitter.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_04]: We'll be back next week with more of the same thanks to Carl.
- 53:39[SPEAKER_04]: Thanks to Alfon, Ad, Spills, Controlls, all those things, and to you for watching listening.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_04]: We will see you in a week's time.
