- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone, and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles.
- 0:04So at this point, my guess is everybody's familiar with
- 0:08Prince Andrew's Hindenberg level crash of an interview that he
- 0:12gave to Emily maitliss Well. Now the producer behind it all,
- 0:17who chased him down and set the interview up is
- 0:21dishing some tea over at the Daily Email. So why
- 0:25don't we just dive right into this article today and
- 0:28see what Sam McAllister, the producer and author of this article,
- 0:33has to say. Headline the full inside story behind Prince
- 0:38Andrew's car crash TV interview. The woman who set it
- 0:41all up reveals Beatrice listened to him, discussed teen sex
- 0:45claims and says each time I thought he couldn't say
- 0:48anything worse, he did. There's no doubt it was one
- 0:52of the worst displays I have ever seen of somebody
- 0:56giving a interview or a public speech or anything like that.
- 1:01Talk about open mouth and insert foot. How many things
- 1:05that he said during that interview have come back to
- 1:07haunt him. I can't sweat. I'm allergic to this. I
- 1:11was in Woking. I don't know her. I mean, come on,
- 1:15all of it has come back to boomerang and bust
- 1:18him directly in his stupid ass head. We were sitting
- 1:24face to face around the small table in Buckingham Palace,
- 1:27three of us from BBC Newsnight, plus Prince Andrew, his
- 1:31private secretary, and Princess Beatrice, who was writing in a notebook.
- 1:36At stake was the interview every broadcaster across the world
- 1:40would have given their right arm to do. Just then
- 1:43would Andrew agree to go on TV and talk about
- 1:46his friendship with Epstein. What followed was an intense two
- 1:50hours of questioning from the Prince and his daughter, and
- 1:54with every minute it became clearer that this wasn't one yet.
- 1:58So even to get the interview, Sam McAllister, the producer,
- 2:04had to run the gauntlet basically right. She had to
- 2:07sit down with Amanda Thrask, who was the Secretary at
- 2:11the time, and Princess Beatrice as well as Prince Andrew
- 2:15as they work through what the interview might entail. So
- 2:20I'm blown away that they were even able to get
- 2:23this interview, honestly, and if Prince Andrew could go back
- 2:26in time, I'm pretty sure that he'd go back in
- 2:29time and strike this one from everybody's memory as a
- 2:34Newsnight producer, I'd been pursuing this for months and was
- 2:38desperate to land it. So as we talked, I decided
- 2:41to give Prince and I decided to give it to
- 2:43Prince Andrew very bluntly, sir, I have lived in this
- 2:47country for over forty years, and until now I only
- 2:50knew two things about you. It's that you are known
- 2:54as air Miles Andy and Randy Andy, and I can
- 2:57absolutely tell you that the latter really doesn't help you
- 3:00in your current predicament. Had I blown our chances of
- 3:04landing the interview of a lifetime my colleagues, presenter Emily
- 3:07Maitliss and Newsnight Deputy editor Stuart Maclin looked genuinely shocked.
- 3:13There was a long pause, then Andrew laughed. The room
- 3:17collectively exhaled. I mean, is she wrong? What do we
- 3:22really know about this guy? Besides the fact that he's
- 3:25a grifter, He was terrible at the functionary role he
- 3:29was put in to represent the nation and the Queen,
- 3:32and we also know he is somebody with a proclivity
- 3:36to be a sick and disgusting bastard. It had started
- 3:44innocuously an email from a pr to me in November
- 3:47twenty eighteen, suggesting a chat about pitch at Palace, Prince
- 3:52Andrew's initiative to support entrepreneurs around the world. Would Newsnight
- 3:57like to interview him, interview him about it? Of course
- 4:00they want to do that, right and the Prince now
- 4:03before the scandal really broke off, right, So the Prince
- 4:06of course is trying to get as much publicity for
- 4:09his little project as possible so he can get more
- 4:12people like mister Turk to come in and give him some,
- 4:15you know, dirty money. Allegedly, the simple answer was no.
- 4:22We never agreed to puff pieces and never allow interviewees
- 4:25to give conditions. So I politely declined, do come back
- 4:29to me if the position changes. I signed off. It
- 4:32seems so unlikely that I didn't even tell my boss.
- 4:36I assumed I'd never hear from their pr again. But
- 4:39six months later I did. Prince Andrew was now open
- 4:42to a broader chat. Would I be interested in learning more?
- 4:46Absolutely so. This is a career maker right here. If
- 4:49you're a producer, a field producer, and you get a
- 4:52chance to produce a segment like this, this literally is
- 4:55a career changer. You can write your own ticket. After this,
- 4:59everybody from ABC to CNN, the Fox News to BBC
- 5:03to wherever you want to go is gonna give you
- 5:06a job because securing this kind of interview, this is
- 5:11a big deal for a field producer, for sure. The
- 5:16pr said she needed to talk to Andrew's private secretary,
- 5:19Amanda Thirsk, and she'd be back in touch. It was
- 5:22the first time I'd heard Amanda's name, and I immediately
- 5:25googled her. Now, Amanda Thirsk was basically Prince Andrew's handler
- 5:30for years until this Newsnight interview. Once this interview happened,
- 5:34Amanda Thirsk was jettison to the wayside. She sounded suitably impressive,
- 5:41a woman who had worked for the Prince for seven years,
- 5:44but who'd previously been a banker in the city. The
- 5:47picture that emerged after talking to a couple of friends
- 5:50was someone formidable, clever, thorough and fiercely loyal to Prince Andrew.
- 5:57Shortly afterwards, I was invited to meet Amanda at Buckingham Palace.
- 6:02I'm not going to lie. I was excited to go,
- 6:04but at this stage I wasn't hopeful about landing an interview. Now, look,
- 6:08I get it. That has to be a pretty exciting
- 6:10thing to be invited to Buckingham Palace, just like getting
- 6:13invited to the White House has to be a pretty
- 6:15exciting thing. But when you're going there for this kind
- 6:20of interview, yeah, I'm pretty sure that puts a damper
- 6:23on all of the excitement. As far as I knew,
- 6:27no member of the Royal family had ever been on Newsnight,
- 6:31We had no connections in the palace. It was rare
- 6:33to even do a royal story. Why on earth would
- 6:36Prince Andrew want to talk to us, My guess is
- 6:40it has to do with the fact that you never
- 6:42do royal stories. He wanted it to appear that it
- 6:45was a neutral outlet doing the story on him, but
- 6:48it really boomeranged right. The rubber band effect for Prince
- 6:52Andrew was pretty brutal. Here. All I could see was
- 6:56a load of armed police at an open gate and
- 6:58couldn't believe anyone and just walked into Buckingham Palace that way.
- 7:02But that's exactly what happened. They looked me up on
- 7:05a list, took my ID and rang through to someone
- 7:07who sanctioned my entry. The sea of police and guns
- 7:11parted and I began the long walk to the palace door. Yeah,
- 7:14how many massage therapists have made the same walk going
- 7:17to see Uncle Touchy in the middle of the night.
- 7:21The hundreds of tourists stacked up against the gates stared
- 7:24as I traped across the cobbles, somewhat impeded by a
- 7:27perilously high pair of knee high golden hieled Kurt Geiger boots.
- 7:32I have no idea what those are, but my guess
- 7:34is they're not that comfortable. I was directed to a
- 7:37modest waiting room that featured a tiny marble mantlepiece with
- 7:41a large gilt mirror and a loudly ticking wooden clock.
- 7:45On a little table sat a frame picture of Her
- 7:47Majesty in a yellow jacket and a hat. Sounds like
- 7:51you know when you have a grandma that you go
- 7:52visit and she has like an antique room that you're
- 7:55not supposed to go into. Sounds like where this lady
- 7:57ended up. Feeling daring, I picked up the black frame.
- 8:00It wasn't heavy. It looked like a cheap wooden frame
- 8:03from Ikea. As I sat there, I could hear the
- 8:06staff chattering about some royal visit to Sansbury and watched
- 8:10as a soldier came in, removed his huge bearskin cap
- 8:14and talked for a moment about the day. Then two
- 8:16prs arrived and we were taken upstairs in old fashioned lifts,
- 8:21past huge busts of former kings and queens and through
- 8:24swaths of empty corridors. Amanda's office was a small room
- 8:28peppered with pictures of Prince Andrew and his family. Now,
- 8:32if anyone could be considered a confidant of Prince Andrew,
- 8:36it was Amanda Thirsk for all of these years, and
- 8:39the fact that he let her go the way he
- 8:41did it tells you everything you need to know about
- 8:44the disaster that was this interview, and she played a
- 8:48gigantic part in setting it all up and okaying it.
- 8:51So somebody had to be the fall person here, and
- 8:54it ended up being Amanda. She was exactly as I expected,
- 8:59impeccable manners, thorough and direct, not a hair out of place.
- 9:04We talked for two hours and agreed that the interview
- 9:06would encompass everything from Brexit to the future of the monarchy,
- 9:10as well as any other relevant issues that arose. Then
- 9:14a man just said there was just one red line.
- 9:17We couldn't talk about the issue of Andrew's friendship with Epstein.
- 9:21My heart sank. Oh. I wonder why you can't talk
- 9:24about that. Why is that a no go zone? Could
- 9:28it have something to do with the fact that Andrew
- 9:30knee deep in all of this, had his stupid ass
- 9:33nose involved in all of it, and not only that,
- 9:36as we all know, allegedly abused Virginia. So yeah, probably
- 9:41not a topic that he wants to bring up. Back then,
- 9:45Jeffrey Epstein wasn't a name that rang bells for a
- 9:48lot of people, even so I knew we had to
- 9:51decline the interview. This was in May twenty nineteen. Eight
- 9:56weeks later, Epstein was arrested. Twelve weeks later, he was dead.
- 10:00The full scale of his criminal behavior was coming into
- 10:03sharp focus, and Virginia Roberts and other survivors had started
- 10:07to speak. They'd been speaking a little bit earlier than that,
- 10:10but the essence of this is correct. And remember when
- 10:13the survivors took their story to social media. To you,
- 10:17that's when things started to really move in this direction,
- 10:20the direction of at least people being held accountable in
- 10:23some degree. Twenty weeks on I managed to persuade Amanda
- 10:30that Prince Andrew's position of silence in the face of
- 10:32global scrutiny was untenable. Twelve long days later came the
- 10:37email we had all hoped for. It arrived from Amanda
- 10:41early on a Saturday morning, November ninth. Could presenter Emily
- 10:45Maitliss our deputy editor Stuart and I come to the
- 10:48palace in two days. Prince Andrew wanted to meet us,
- 10:52so that got to be pretty exciting. Got all of
- 10:55this going on, the situation with Epstein blooming once again,
- 10:59and and as a field producer, this is your this
- 11:02is your day here right, this is your mia culpa. Monday,
- 11:06November eleventh, twenty nineteen morning. Prince Andrew's voice was upbeat
- 11:12as he came into Amanda's room. He was smiling, He
- 11:15seemed friendly. I hope you don't mind, but I brought
- 11:18someone with me. We exchanged glances. Who could it be
- 11:21a lawyer? Maybe someone from the Queen's staff, And then
- 11:25from behind him came Princess Beatrice. To be frank, the
- 11:29only thing worse than speaking to a prospective interviewee about
- 11:32allegations of sexual impropriety and sex with a seventeen year
- 11:36old girl is having to do so in front of
- 11:39his daughter. What sort of buffoon brings their daughter to
- 11:42this conversation. I know you're trying to use her as
- 11:45a set piece to give you an easier time of it,
- 11:48but bro, this is horrible. The idea is to protect
- 11:51your children, to insulate them from your bullshit. That's what
- 11:54a real man does. But I guess we should have
- 11:57never expected that from a punk bitch like pray It's Andrew.
- 12:02Princess Beatrice was polite and engaged, but unlike her father,
- 12:05she was evidently anxious about the meeting and clearly there
- 12:09to protect his interests. I'd heard she was close to
- 12:12the queen. She was close to the queen. The prince's
- 12:14eldest daughter was now I felt, the person who can
- 12:17make the difference between us getting the interview or not.
- 12:21Well probably correct, right, Who has more sway on their
- 12:25dad than a daughter. We all sat down, cramped into
- 12:30that tiny room, a few feet from one another. What
- 12:34was most surprising was there was never any attempt to
- 12:36find out what we'd ask or to place conditions on
- 12:40the questions. And that is very surprising. Honestly, Usually these
- 12:45questions have to be very well tailored for bozos like
- 12:49Andrew or else they have a train wreck like we
- 12:51saw here, but they weren't holding the you know, the
- 12:56defensible ground. Andrew and company. They reached out for this
- 13:01interview because they knew they had to try and do
- 13:03damage control, But what really happened was even more damage.
- 13:11For his part, the Prince revealed for the first time
- 13:13that he supposedly had an alibi. He told us about
- 13:16Pizza Express a children's party. He mentioned his sweating, or
- 13:20lack thereof. He talked about how recently he'd seen Glene Maxwell,
- 13:25Epstein's procurer of underage girls, co conspirator, general all around scusbag,
- 13:30you know, fellow child abuser and bipedal serpent. I think
- 13:32that's what they meant. He'd admitted he'd made errors of judgment.
- 13:36It was raw jaw dropping stuff. Yeah, errors of judgment. Huh?
- 13:40How about errors of everything you've ever done in your life?
- 13:44And then he said something I'll never forget. As we
- 13:48conclude it, he turned to Princess Beatrice and said they
- 13:51had a lot to discuss and should go straight after
- 13:54upstairs to talk about it over a cup of tea
- 13:57with mum. For a split second, I almost scoffed, What
- 14:01on earth did a grown man need to talk to
- 14:03his mum for? And then it hit me, mum was
- 14:07the Queen. Well, I get it. I'd want to talk
- 14:09to my mom probably too, She's one of my best confidants.
- 14:13But in a situation like this, being you know, the
- 14:16Prince of England, you should probably wait to say that
- 14:19until afterwards. You don't need people to know that. Oh,
- 14:21I'm gonna go run the mom and get some advice.
- 14:27Less than twenty four hours later, he agreed to the interview.
- 14:30I felt I wouldn't really believe it until those cameras
- 14:33started rolling, but I wouldn't have to wait long. This
- 14:36was on Tuesday, November twelfth, twenty nineteen. In just two days,
- 14:40we would all find ourselves back inside Buckingham Palace, face
- 14:44to face with Prince Andrew again, conducting what turned out
- 14:48to be an interview more shocking than any of us
- 14:51could have ever predicted. I remember listening to it live
- 14:54as it was happening, watching the live coverage of it,
- 14:59and I was blow away for the whole entire thing
- 15:01pretty much, I mean, like the whole entire ass interview.
- 15:04I was just shaking my head like who let this
- 15:06guy do this? Who? Who approved this? I mean, you
- 15:12would have to think that everybody in the Palace knows
- 15:15what a bozo Prince Andrew is and approving an interview
- 15:18like this would end up in disaster. All right, folks,
- 15:22that's gonna end part one here and we'll be right
- 15:25back with part number two in our next update. If
- 15:29you'd like to contact me, you can do that at
- 15:31Bobby Kapuchi at ProtonMail dot com. That's bo bb y
- 15:35c ap you Cci at ProtonMail dot com. You can
- 15:40also find me on Twitter at bo bb y underscore
- 15:44c ap you Cci. All right, folks, we'll be right
- 15:48back with part two. What's up everyone, and welcome back
- 15:52to the Epstein Chronicles and now the conclusion of the
- 15:56interview with Prince Andrew. Thursday, November fourteenth, twenty nineteen. Fifteen
- 16:05feet that's how far away I am from the back
- 16:07of Andrew's chair. I can see the soles of his
- 16:10shoes hardly scuffed, and the back of his head new haircut,
- 16:14the hem of his trousers a perfectly judged length, and
- 16:17the nervous tapping of his left foot. The chair seems
- 16:20a little small for his body. Yeah, he's a bit
- 16:22of a puff, isn't he not in the greatest shape
- 16:25in the world. And of course he had himself a
- 16:28nice new cut and a pair of shoes that are
- 16:30hardly scuffed. When you're rich, you don't wear the same
- 16:32shit too often. Probably a brand new pair of kicks.
- 16:37My own chair is up against the wall of an
- 16:39opulent room, larger than most London flats. I'm sitting next
- 16:43to a very friendly woman who, seeing how nervous I am,
- 16:46kindly offers me a martini. Imagine that, sitting at work,
- 16:50someone offers you a martini to calm you down. Pretty
- 16:53nice job, huh jin With a twist, Her majesty is
- 16:57also a fan. It's one of those exchanges is that
- 17:00you can hardly believe is happening, chatting idly with someone
- 17:04in Buckingham Palace about your monarch's pension for a cocktail.
- 17:08The charming woman is the Prince's equerry. She's certain his
- 17:12interview will clear his name, that it's all been a
- 17:15terrible misunderstanding, that after this things will go back to normal. Boy,
- 17:21were they really missing the boat here? Huh. They really
- 17:24thought that numb Nuts was going to get out there
- 17:27and give the performance of a lifetime, and everybody was
- 17:30gonna say, Ah, you know what, He's right, Prince Andrew
- 17:34didn't do any of this. He's an honorable dude, and
- 17:37all of his behavior lines up and all of his
- 17:39receipts check out. The reality is none of that's true.
- 17:43He's not an honorable dude, and none of his receipts
- 17:46checked out. Emily Maitliss is nervous, busying herself with her notes,
- 17:52the result of two days of relentless practice and brainstorms
- 17:56with a small team. Look, it's always nerve racking when
- 17:59you have a big interview to conduct. I'm not somebody
- 18:02who does many interviews, but when you have them and
- 18:05you know you know you have one coming up, there's
- 18:08a lot of work that goes into being prepared for it.
- 18:11If you want to give a good interview anyway, you
- 18:13got to know obviously the topic you're going to talk about,
- 18:16but you have to know about the person that you're
- 18:18talking to, dig into their backstory, where are they from,
- 18:22all of that good stuff. So there's a whole entire
- 18:25thing that goes along with preparing for interviews and preparing
- 18:29for one like this, it definitely has to be a
- 18:31bit nerve shaking. I feel panic rise within me. We're
- 18:37about to interview a member of the royal family about
- 18:40his connections with a sex trafficker. We're about to ask
- 18:43him on camera whether he had sex with Virginia Roberts,
- 18:47whether he knew about Epstein's terrible acts, and whether he
- 18:51was complicit. Well, it's nice that somebody did it, considering
- 18:54the authorities have never done it, Considering nobody in power
- 18:56has ever done it. It's nice to see that a
- 18:59news organ is at least stepped up to the plate
- 19:02and got him on record. Apart from the Equerry, Amanda
- 19:07is here with her deputy. That's it. No lawyers, no
- 19:10other royal staff. I'd expected a swarm of people to
- 19:14oversee it all. And I bet if they could go
- 19:16back in time, that's exactly what they would have done.
- 19:19Lawyers everywhere, all kinds of legal counsel to make sure that,
- 19:24you know, things didn't go off the rails. And fortunately
- 19:29for us and unfortunately for him, that's not what happened.
- 19:35A tall white man comes into the room to say hello,
- 19:37he's introduced as Donald McCabe, Communication Secretary to the Queen.
- 19:42His visit is quite significant. It means that the Queen
- 19:46likely knows about the interview. Well, yeah, there's no way
- 19:49that this interview happens without the Queen's go ahead. Prince
- 19:53Andrew's a dunce and a nonce in the rest of it.
- 19:55But the Queen's still going to make the decisions if
- 19:58the interview happens or not. After speaking to a couple
- 20:05of people, he leaves afterwards. This seems a missed opportunity.
- 20:11If he'd stayed, he'd have known the contents of the
- 20:13interview firsthand. Perhaps he would have realized how terribly this
- 20:17would play out for Andrew, for the Palace, for the monarchy,
- 20:21and it was terrible. Look, here's the thing. People haven't
- 20:25just come up with a reason to hate on Prince Andrew.
- 20:28The dudes a moron. He doesn't represent the people of England, well,
- 20:32he doesn't represent his family well, and in fact, he
- 20:35doesn't represent humanity. Well. So I don't know why they
- 20:38wouldn't have somebody there to monitor what this idiot was doing.
- 20:46Perhaps they would have had more time to prepare a response.
- 20:49Damage limitation of some kind as it was the first
- 20:53time mackab would have seen The interview was more than
- 20:55forty eight hours later, alongside the entire nation. As I
- 21:00wait for the cameras and lighting to be set up,
- 21:02the Equerry tells me that the same room will be
- 21:05used after the interview for Palace for the Palace Cinema Night.
- 21:09When we leave, members of the Royal household will congregate
- 21:12to watch a film and maybe eat popcorn. Maybe eat popcorn?
- 21:16What is popcorn not allowed to the Royal family? Isn't
- 21:19that like a staple? If it's movie night, you guys
- 21:21are gonna have the big screen going and popcorn some snacks.
- 21:28Prince Andrew suddenly appears and makes his way over to
- 21:30talk to me. He's friendly and chatty. We discuss cinema
- 21:34night and he opens the doors at the end of
- 21:36the room to reveal the projector. Turns out this evening
- 21:39they're showing a renee Zellwigger film Judy Have I seen it?
- 21:44We chat a little bit about Judy Garland, the weather
- 21:47floods in Green Park, and then he moves on to
- 21:50the crew, making suggestions about microphones and other technicalities. Oh so,
- 21:55all of a sudden. The guy's a world traveled front
- 21:58of house technician, monitor engineer. Now he knows about microphones.
- 22:03Dude wouldn't know about a microphone if one blasted him
- 22:05straight across his face. Twenty minutes later, we're ready to go.
- 22:11A Mandel settles herself near Andrew, sitting on the floor,
- 22:15notebook in her hand. Emily nods. The cameras are rolling
- 22:19and we're off and well, it is the beginning of
- 22:22the end for Prince Andrew, isn't it. This interview was
- 22:25the death knell for him. When this interview cracked off
- 22:28and everybody heard from his mouth how much of a
- 22:31tool he is, that was the beginning of the end.
- 22:35The first question Emily asks, why he's decided to talk
- 22:39now is the one I get asked the most today.
- 22:42Why take the enormous risk. It's easy to look back
- 22:45now and say that the decision was reckless, But few
- 22:48people imagine their own answers doing them harm. You have
- 22:51few people who didn't do anything. If you're innocent, that's
- 22:55when you come out and give your big speech. But
- 22:57if you're not innocent, you should shut your mouth and
- 23:00call your lawyer. He didn't do that. His Hubris would
- 23:04not allow it. You also have to remember the life
- 23:09Andrew has lived. The second son, always said to be
- 23:12the Queen's favorite, granted extraordinary access and opportunity fond over.
- 23:18The average CEO would have never taken that risk. They'd
- 23:21have calculated one hundred reasons not to take the chance.
- 23:24But Andrew and his people must have thought this hour
- 23:27of his life would change the public perception of him
- 23:30for the better. Well, they were severely mistaken. And do
- 23:33you think it's any surprise that Amanda Thirsk is no
- 23:36longer part of the crew. We don't know for sure,
- 23:40but we assume he's spent the past couple of days
- 23:42in constant rehearsals. Like us, his team must have theorized
- 23:46the questions, decided precisely had to deal with the more
- 23:50serious allegations, considered, body language and tone, deliberated exactly if
- 23:56or how he might apologize. His answer to Emily's questions,
- 24:01he simply reminds us that his people have been talking
- 24:04to Newsnight for six months and actually it's a very
- 24:08good opportunity. Look, his body language was bad, his answers
- 24:13were bad, his posture was bad, and in fact, everything
- 24:16about him is bad. After that, Emily gave a masterclass
- 24:22in calm, methodical analytical interviewing. The interview is now used
- 24:26across the world by pr and communications professionals and by
- 24:30people in crisis management as a shining example of what
- 24:34answers not to give when you're dealing with controversy. Imagine
- 24:38being the case study. The Prince of England could have
- 24:41done anything in his life, but instead his legacy is
- 24:43going to be the case study of what not to
- 24:46do when giving an interview. Imagine that. Enjoy your legacy,
- 24:50Prince of Nothing, the Joe exotic of the Windsor family.
- 24:56I'd assumed Andrew would distance himself from Epstein, condemn him outright,
- 25:00and diminish their shared history. Instead, it sounded like they
- 25:03were close friends, and worse, the Prince even admired him.
- 25:07Imagine and that was certainly the tone that came off.
- 25:11If you haven't seen this interview yet, you should definitely
- 25:13go and check it out because it tells you a
- 25:16lot about Prince Andrew, and it tells you a lot
- 25:19about the kind of person he is. Instead, it sounded
- 25:23like they were close friends, and worse that the Prince
- 25:26even admired him. What followed was one astonishing answer after another.
- 25:31Each time I thought it couldn't get any worse, it did.
- 25:34The answer showed how totally removed the Prince was from
- 25:38the reality of an average life. All of these people
- 25:43are completely removed from what the rest of us have
- 25:46to deal with on a regular basis, just to maintain
- 25:49they have no idea about any of it. Had he
- 25:55been on Epstein's private plane, yes. Had he stayed on
- 25:58his private island, yes. Had he stayed at his home
- 26:01in Palm Beach Yes. Had he visited Glaine Maxwell's London home, Yes.
- 26:06Was Epstein at Princess Beatrice's eighteenth birthday party at Windsor Castle, Yes.
- 26:12So all of those affirmatives shows you right away the
- 26:14groundwork for the relationship, how tight they were, how close
- 26:18they were, And the fact that Prince Andrew allegedly was
- 26:21at Epstein's townhouse when Carolyn was raped again tells you
- 26:26what you need to know. This dude needs to speak
- 26:28to the FBI, He needs to speak to the authorities,
- 26:31but Willie probably not. In two thousand and eight, Epstein
- 26:36was jailed for soliciting and procuring a minor for prostitution
- 26:40that cannot even occur. A prostitute cannot be a minor
- 26:43because miners cannot consent. This is child abuse and the
- 26:46rape of a child. That's what it is. Andrew said
- 26:50that they had no contact during that time, but Emily
- 26:53had the killer blow. Within months of his release, he
- 26:56went to stay with him at his New York mansion.
- 26:58Why why were you staying with a convicted sex offender,
- 27:02Andrew replied, I went there with the sole purpose of
- 27:05saying to him that because he had been convicted, it
- 27:08was inappropriate for us to be seen together. I felt
- 27:11that doing it over the phone was the chickens way
- 27:14of doing it. So you're not a chicken when it
- 27:16comes to breaking up with your bff, Jeffrey Epstein. You'll
- 27:19fly five, I mean three thousand miles five hours over
- 27:22the pond to do it, and then stay the night
- 27:24at his house, but you won't even speak to the
- 27:27FBI over the phone. Talk about a chicken. I was incredulous.
- 27:34Was he saying it was the right thing to do
- 27:36to spend four days at the home of a convicted
- 27:38sex offender, that it was somehow honorable? Emily persisted, do
- 27:42you regret the whole friendship with Epstein, Andrew should have
- 27:46bitten her hand off for the chance to say quite
- 27:48simply yes. Instead he said, now still not. And the
- 27:53reason being is that the people I met and the
- 27:55opportunities I was given to learn, either by him or
- 27:58because of him, were actually very useful. Imagine saying this,
- 28:03and all of these girls, two hundred and twenty five
- 28:06of them got money from the estate, by the way,
- 28:08and we know there's a lot more than that, But
- 28:10can you imagine saying that knowing that all of these
- 28:12girls were abused and raped by this guy. I remember
- 28:18having to look down just so I could roll my eyes.
- 28:21He had no recollection of meeting Virginia Roberts or of
- 28:24having his hand around her waist in the infamous photograph
- 28:28taken on the night she claimed he had sex with
- 28:31her as a royal. He said, he wouldn't have been
- 28:33physically close to someone like that as a royal. Shut up, dude.
- 28:37In fact, nobody wants to be that close to you.
- 28:41Out came is now notorious. Alibis that he was at
- 28:45the Pizza Express and Woking that day that Virginia's recollection
- 28:48of him sweating on the dance floor at tramp nightclub
- 28:51couldn't be true because he'd lost the ability to sweat. Funny, how,
- 28:56there's a bunch of pictures of him sweating his ass
- 28:58through all of those shirts. Though, huh, has this guy
- 29:01done anything but lie throughout this whole entire time? As
- 29:06a former criminal barista, I knew the answers were a
- 29:09future defense lawyer's nightmare. I realized for the first time
- 29:13that Andrew couldn't have taken legal advice before speaking to us.
- 29:17It just got worse and worse. He couldn't have had
- 29:19sexed with Virginia, he said, because sex for a man
- 29:22is a sort of positive action which is very difficult
- 29:25to forget. Was this a royal euphemism for penetration? I mean,
- 29:29imagine having such an overblown opinion of yourself that you
- 29:33think that because you're a royal, everybody's gonna remember you. Bro,
- 29:38you're a buffoon, okay. In fact, my guess is a
- 29:41lot of the people that you've rolled on top of
- 29:43for the five minutes in your life, they all want
- 29:46to forget you. Emily gave him another chance. I wonder
- 29:53if you have any sense of guilt, regret, or shame
- 29:56about any of your behavior and your friendship with Epstein.
- 30:00He handed it to him on a plate. Surely he'd
- 30:02clarify that it had all been a terrible mistake. I
- 30:06looked up from the floor watched him gather himself for
- 30:09one of the final answers. As far as mister Epstein
- 30:12is concerned, it was the wrong decision to go and
- 30:15see him in twenty ten, As far as my association
- 30:18with him was concerned, it had some seriously beneficial outcomes
- 30:23and areas that have nothing to do with what we're
- 30:25talking about today. Extraordinary that he couldn't see just how
- 30:29terrible that sounded. Emily asked her final question. I mean,
- 30:33this guy is still enamored with Epstein. It seems like
- 30:36here Epstein sure had you wrapped around his finger. What
- 30:40sort of compromot did Epstein have on you, Joe Exotic
- 30:44of the Windsor Family. Is there anything you feel has
- 30:49been left unsaid that you would like to say now
- 30:52a message of regret for the terrible acts of his
- 30:54friend had committed. Perhaps Andrew's chance ebbed the way. No,
- 30:59I didn't. I don't think so. I think you've probably
- 31:01dragged out most of what is required. That was it
- 31:04an interview more shocking than any of us could ever
- 31:07have predicted. I couldn't look at anyone. I could barely
- 31:11believe his people hadn't stopped the interview. I would have
- 31:15despite the consequences. How'd you think it went? I asked
- 31:18the equerry. She beamed. Wasn't he wonderful? She said, oh, yeah,
- 31:22wonderful if you're blind and deaf, and then unable to
- 31:26comprehend things. I'd expected Amanda thirst to be distraught, the
- 31:31Prince to look shaken or concerned, but she was smiling,
- 31:34and he seemed debulent. And then it hit me he
- 31:38actually thought it had gone well. He was in such
- 31:41a good mood that he offered us all a tour
- 31:43of the palace. I couldn't go. I wouldn't have been
- 31:45able to speak to him in good faith. Of course,
- 31:48Emily couldn't decline. I don't know how she kept her composure.
- 31:52I would have went. I would have declined and been like, sorry,
- 31:54I'm never I don't even want to talk to you
- 31:56ever again. After the interview was broadcast, everyone agreed it
- 32:03had been an unmitigated disaster for Prince Andrew. The newspapers
- 32:08also lamb basedd Amanda Thirsk ridiculing her for letting him
- 32:12do the interview. I found this profoundly disturbing. What she
- 32:16had done was believe in her boss. His own answers
- 32:19had landed him in hot water. She's not wrong about that,
- 32:22you know, Amanda Thirsk. At the end of the day,
- 32:24is just you know, an employee. Prince Andrew's the boss,
- 32:27and he's the one that shited the bed. I also
- 32:31felt strangely protective towards her. We were both doing our
- 32:34jobs to the best of our abilities, and now her
- 32:37professional life lay in tatters. On November twentieth, Prince Andrew
- 32:42announced that he was stepping back from public duties for
- 32:44the foreseeable future. Belatedly, he also expressed sympathy for Epstein's survivors.
- 32:50Belated ly, Huh, his mom probably told him he had
- 32:53to do that. Amanda Thirst stepped back from her role
- 32:57and eventually left. I messaged her off to meet if
- 33:00she was still so inclined. Meanwhile, Glene Maxwell was charged
- 33:04with eight counts relating to grooming underage girls for Epstein.
- 33:07Calls for Andrew to cooperate with the FBI grew louder
- 33:11and then just Before the twenty fifth anniversary of Martin
- 33:15Basher's Panorama interview with Princess Diana, Earl Spencer went public
- 33:19with allegations against him and the BBC. The interview, he said,
- 33:24had been procured by Martin Basheer after he had told
- 33:26a litany of lies to Diana and showed her forged
- 33:30bank statements. She'd never had agreed to do it otherwise.
- 33:33The more I learned about the allegations, the more appalled.
- 33:36I was a graphic designer who'd blown the whistle on
- 33:39the bank statements, had lost his job. It seemed clear
- 33:42that there had been some kind of cover up. All
- 33:45I could feel was betrayal and anger. For that, among
- 33:48many reasons, I decided I wanted to leave the BBC.
- 33:52Before I left, I finally got to see Amanda Thirsk.
- 33:54She was nothing but gracious and wished me the best.
- 33:58We are still in touch from time to time. Time. Well,
- 34:01there you have it, folks. That's gonna conclude Part two
- 34:04of how the interview with Prince Andrew with Emily Maitlist
- 34:08was procured. A pretty interesting look behind the scenes at
- 34:12the life of a field producer and how crazy that
- 34:16can be. They're the ones that get these interviews, they're
- 34:19the ones that set all of this up. So they
- 34:21have a very interesting life, there's no doubt about it.
- 34:24And imagine sitting in on this one. So I thought
- 34:28this would be a good ad to the catalog and
- 34:30offer a bit more context and some clarity about how
- 34:33the interview went down. All right, everybody, if you'd like
- 34:37to contact me, you can do that at Bobby Capuchi
- 34:40at ProtonMail dot com. That's bo bbu y c ap
- 34:44you Cci at ProtonMail dot com. You can also find
- 34:48me on Twitter at Bobby Underscore cap Ucci. The link
- 34:55that I discussed can be found in the description box
- 34:58Up everyone, and welcome back to the Epstein Chronicles. The
- 35:03interview that Prince Andrew gave to Emily Mateless and the
- 35:07BBC turned out to be one of the worst ideas
- 35:11this dude has ever had. If there was any question
- 35:15about this dude's competency, about this guy's honor before the interview,
- 35:21all of those questions were answered after it. No he's
- 35:25not competent, No he's not honorable, and he certainly doesn't
- 35:29understand the scope of what's going on here. He truly
- 35:33thought that he was going to waltz into that interview,
- 35:35run rough shot over Emily Mateless and put a line
- 35:39underneath the whole entire scandal. That's what he thought. Well,
- 35:42it turned out to be something different, and it wasn't
- 35:45even a car crash interview. It was legitimately the Hindenburg right.
- 35:50That's how disastrous this was. And today we have an
- 35:54article from the La Times about this interview and the
- 35:59headline the prosecutor's dream inside the bombshell interview that brought
- 36:03down Prince Andrew. And there's no doubt this would be
- 36:08a prosecutor's dream. I've said it a million times. Imagine
- 36:11a seasoned interrogator getting this guy in a room. If
- 36:15Emily maitliss Adam shook, imagine what a real investigator would do,
- 36:19like an interrogator who does this for a living. This
- 36:27article was authored by Eton Smallman. A round table with
- 36:32three BBC journalists in Buckingham Palace, Queen Elizabeth's second son
- 36:36was deciding whether to do a TV interview that would
- 36:39change his life. Stupid idea. Somebody should advise him not
- 36:43to do this interview and instead go and talk to
- 36:46the federal government. That's what he should have been doing.
- 36:49Speak to the FBI. I want to do the honorable thing.
- 36:52I want to help these girls. Yeah, well you're not
- 36:55doing that hiding behind mummy's skirts and riding around bell
- 36:59Moral on your Joe Exotic of the Windsor family. Three
- 37:04months earlier, in August twenty nineteen, the billionaire sex offender
- 37:09pedophile Jeffrey Epstein had been found dead in his New
- 37:12York prison cell while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
- 37:16For nearly a decade, Prince Andrew had been dogged by
- 37:19questions about their twenty year friendship, and now was facing
- 37:23allegations of his own. Virginia Roberts alleged that Epstein had
- 37:28forced her to have sex with Andrew when she was seventeen,
- 37:32something the Duke of York has always denied. See this
- 37:36is the problem. These questions were always there, These allegations
- 37:40were always there. People chose to ignore this stuff so
- 37:44they can continue to have access to the royals. I'm
- 37:47looking directly at you, ABC and Amy roback at the Palace.
- 37:56Sam McAllister booker extraordinaire on the BBC flagship current affair
- 38:00show Newsnight, who had been in discussions for a year
- 38:04with a publicist working for Andrew's initiative to support entrepreneurs,
- 38:08and his private security took her gamble. Now, I wonder
- 38:12when Bill Clinton's gonna sit down for a tell all
- 38:15about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. You don't see anyone
- 38:18clamoring for that, huh. And it took the Daily Mail
- 38:22and all of the tabloids in the UK to do
- 38:25this to get Prince Andrew on a hot enough seat
- 38:28where the BBC took action. So when's that gonna happen
- 38:31to Bill Clinton? That's the real question here. When is
- 38:36the legacy media gonna hold Bill Clinton to the same
- 38:39standard that we're holding Prince Andrew to. Now, of course,
- 38:42let's be very very clear, nobody has come out and
- 38:46said that Bill Clinton was abusing girls on the island
- 38:50or partaking. My problem with Bill Clinton, especially is the
- 38:54lying about all of it. He sends out his spokesperson
- 38:58to give us this candass state that has never changed
- 39:01since the first time he gave it, even after all
- 39:04of this court documentation that basically shows you that his
- 39:08statement was a lie. But he just gets to go
- 39:10on about his business. Nobody's showing up to air him out,
- 39:14and then the legacy media wonders why people aren't listening
- 39:17to what they have to say, and then they wonder
- 39:19why people are searching for independent content creators or independent
- 39:24journalists to follow. Well, maybe if you dudes would do
- 39:27your job, you would have to worry. Referring to his
- 39:32extravagant travel at taxpayer's expense and his playboy image, she
- 39:36told him bluntly, sir, I have lived in this country
- 39:39for over forty years, and until now I only knew
- 39:43two things about you, and that it's that you're known
- 39:46as air Miles Andy and Randy Andy. And I can
- 39:50absolutely tell you that the latter really doesn't help you
- 39:53in your current predicament. Pretty bluntly stated by Emily Maitlis. No,
- 39:57and she's not wrong anything about Prince Andrew besides that right,
- 40:02or that he's out grifting, hanging out with scumbags all
- 40:05over the place. Everyone in the room held their breath.
- 40:10This is not how Britain speak a royalty. Then suddenly
- 40:14he laughs, recalls McAllister in a central London restaurant, there
- 40:18was no way that he could misunderstand what he was
- 40:21dealing with with someone who could speak truth to power
- 40:24and who wasn't mess messing with him, So she wanted
- 40:27to set the standard right away. Right, look, you're not
- 40:30gonna bulldoze me, You're not gonna run rough shot over me.
- 40:33This is gonna be my interview. Three days later, after
- 40:38mentioning it in front of McAllister that he would consult Mum,
- 40:42Andrew did the interview. It would be described as a
- 40:45plane crashing into an oil tanker causing a tsunami, triggering
- 40:48a nuclear explosion. That's a pretty apt way of explaining things,
- 40:52because it was really bad. So damning were his answers
- 40:57that just four days after the broadcast came the announcement
- 41:01that he would be suspending his public duties. The fifty
- 41:04minute encounter had brought down a prince. Well, I would
- 41:07say that the survivors and their just steadfast commitment for justice,
- 41:15that's what really led the charge. But he sunk himself
- 41:18in this interview, there's no doubt about that. In her
- 41:22new book Scoops Behind the Scenes of the BBC's Most
- 41:25Shocking Interviews OneWorld publication September thirteenth, McAllister reveals the tense
- 41:30discussions that secured her exclusive despite a perceived coziness between
- 41:35the national broadcaster and the monarchy. To her knowledge, her
- 41:38program had never spoken to a royal. When first offered
- 41:42access in twenty eighteen to do what she calls a
- 41:45puff piece on his charity work, she turned it down,
- 41:49telling his pr people firmly, no preconditions or no interview.
- 41:54As the Epstein questions grew, louder McAllister persevered, and that's
- 41:59what you have to do. You have to be firm, Right,
- 42:01if you're gonna be a journalist and you're gonna be
- 42:03looking for the truth, you have to be firm and
- 42:06you can't be swayed by people who are in a
- 42:08powerful position. Remember, as a journalist, as the fourth estate,
- 42:12it's your job to hold these people to account. And
- 42:15when you get too cozy with them and you're depending
- 42:19on them for stories or for scoops, well you've been compromised.
- 42:27One of the reasons this interview happened is I didn't
- 42:29have any connections in this world, she says, And in
- 42:32the nicest way, I didn't give it to it. I
- 42:35don't think it's helpful, frankly, to be deferential to institutions
- 42:38if you want to get the truth. Well, a lot
- 42:41of people here in America could hear that these days,
- 42:43I mean, all of a sudden, you have people who
- 42:46say you can't rage against the machine, which is pretty
- 42:49odd considering all of the raging against the machine we
- 42:52have seen recently. She kept in mind the sweet spots
- 42:56that might motivate the prince to go ahead, a desire
- 42:59for vindation and time to celebrate his sixtieth birthday in style,
- 43:03and to walk his daughter Beatrice down the aisle. See
- 43:06what you gotta do is you gotta float some bonuses
- 43:09to people like Andrew right to get them to bite,
- 43:13and one of the best ways to do that is
- 43:15the massage their ego. She also shared her view with
- 43:20him directly. His silence meant the public was drawn conclusions
- 43:23on his guilt. Finally, she told him it was a
- 43:26no brainer that any interview about sexual impropriety with women
- 43:31would have to be conducted by a woman, and lucky me,
- 43:35I had one of the best female presenters in the
- 43:37country in the form of Emily Mateless. The program was
- 43:40also edited by a woman as Miren. Now, Okay, that's
- 43:45all fine and well, but I really don't care who
- 43:47does this interview. I don't care if a little green
- 43:49man from Mars did the interview as long as they
- 43:52exposed Prince Andrew like a shaved dog's ass. McAllister even
- 43:59ventured to make several jokes with the Royal Interlocker, though
- 44:03she demurs on the details. Probably the most banterist parts
- 44:07wouldn't be right for me to reveal. But you heard
- 44:09some of the things that he was willing to say
- 44:11on camera, so you can probably imagine how frank some
- 44:14of those exchanges were. See I don't like this. If
- 44:16you're gonna do a tell all book, tell all, dish
- 44:21all the tea, let's hear it all. What did he
- 44:22say that was gross? What he said on the record
- 44:26left audiences aghast, and says McAllister changed the lexicon of
- 44:30the country. Andrew denied his accuser's claims he was perspiring
- 44:35when they first met because he had a peculiar medical condition,
- 44:39which is that I don't sweat. His alibi was the
- 44:43children's birthday party at the chain restaurant Pizza Express in
- 44:47the provincial English town of Woking. And we know he's
- 44:51ps and about the sweat. We've seen many many photos
- 44:55of him drenched in sweat, so I don't even know
- 44:57what he's talking about. He said that after Epstein's two
- 45:02thousand and eight conviction, he had insisted on spending several
- 45:05days in the financier's New York home. Pedophile to break
- 45:09off his friendship because of his judgment. It was probably
- 45:12colored by his tendency to be too honorable, But that's
- 45:15just the way it is, basically saying, I'm just an
- 45:18honorable guy, and you're gonna have to accept my excuse.
- 45:21That's why I'm so honorable that I had to fly
- 45:24across the pond stay the night at this pedophile's house
- 45:29just to tell him we can't be friends anymore. Does
- 45:31that sound like the honorable behavior of a prince or
- 45:34does that sound like the behavior of a stooge? You
- 45:37tell me? And his description of Epstein having conducting himself
- 45:44in a manner unbecoming managed to break even the quietly
- 45:47forensic demeanor of matelists unbecoming. She interjected, her face contorted
- 45:53in disbelief he was a sex offender. All the while,
- 45:56the Prince failed to express any concern for the survivor,
- 46:00and asked if he regretted the whole Epstein friendship. Replied, no,
- 46:04still not well, I bet you do now, you dumbass.
- 46:08This is a man who is so stuck in his
- 46:10own hubris and his own opinion of one's self that
- 46:14he can't even see the forest through the trees, And
- 46:16every single day he makes a decision to try and
- 46:19come back into the public. It shows you under a
- 46:23microscope the kind of dirtball we're dealing with. Yet none
- 46:30of those was the most jaw dropping moment for McAllister. Rather,
- 46:33it was a very excruciating answer where he's trying to
- 46:36say that he couldn't have had sexual relations with Virginia
- 46:39Roberts because as a man, sexual relations require a positive act,
- 46:45whatever that means. This guy is just rambling. He was prattling.
- 46:50He had no idea what he was talking about, and
- 46:52I couldn't believe what I was hearing when this interview
- 46:55was going on. My jaw was on the ground the
- 46:59whole entire interview. Folks. He was obviously talking about the
- 47:05royal member. We don't want to make light of what
- 47:08obviously was an extremely serious series of allegations against him
- 47:11at Epstein, but to be in Buckingham Palace listening to
- 47:15him talking about that was really quite unforgettable. It was
- 47:20also arresting that the journalists spent much of the time
- 47:23staring at the ornately decorated ballroom carpet to conceal her
- 47:27eye rolling. Wow. Imagine being that bad at an interview
- 47:33where you're trying to defend yourself that the presenter who
- 47:36is interviewing you is trying to not roll their eyes.
- 47:39And not only that, you're a prince and she's one
- 47:42of your subjects, and that's how she feels. I mean,
- 47:47imagine how the rest of the world feels about you.
- 47:50Joe Exotic of the Windsor Family. My throat charmingly starts
- 47:59to make a kind of purpy noise. She has a
- 48:02final giveaway, I sweat the irony of ironies. So she's
- 48:06sitting across from a guy who says he can't sweat,
- 48:08and she starts to sweat. Pretty funny if you ask me.
- 48:13As a former criminal defense barrister, McAllister knew full well
- 48:16the legal ramifications of Andrew's answers, describing them as a
- 48:21prosecutor's dream. She adds, I was surprised that he gave
- 48:24those explanations, which, if you were dealing with litigation, would
- 48:28have been relatively easy to disprove if they were lies.
- 48:32He thought that he was gonna he honestly thought that
- 48:34he was gonna get up there and charm the pants
- 48:36off of everybody. He thought that all of you were
- 48:38gonna eat out of the palm of his hand. Because
- 48:41his whole life, that's what happened, right. Nobody ever told
- 48:44him he was a douche. Nobody ever said to him, Hey,
- 48:46Prince Andrew, you're an asshole. Here's a three piece combo
- 48:49min soda. You think this guy ever got his ass
- 48:52beat ever once in his life. You can tell who
- 48:56grew up not getting beat up in their neighborhood. You
- 49:00can tell by the way they behave as adults. Robert's
- 49:06attorney later revealed she and her team had examined the
- 49:08interview for inconsistencies. Frankly, it was very helpful for us,
- 49:13she said, And it really was. All you had to
- 49:15do is take one look, and you could see the inconsistencies.
- 49:19The revelation may explain why Andrew was so keen to
- 49:22settle his US civil sexual assault case with Roberts in
- 49:25February this year, paying a reported sixteen million to a woman.
- 49:30He told Nitelis he had no recollection of ever meeting.
- 49:34And this is another reason why I've said from the
- 49:36jump that the price tag on this was a lot
- 49:38bigger than they taught, than they were trying to say recently.
- 49:41Oh it was only a few million dollars. Yeah, right,
- 49:44Andrew was cooked, folks. He had nowhere to go. But
- 49:47party was over for this dude. The only way out
- 49:51was to have this settlement. And do you really think
- 49:53that boys and the rest of the crew over there
- 49:56were going to just let them waltz on out of
- 49:58there without it being painful. Well. McAllister, who has since
- 50:04left the BBC after being denied a bonus pay, a
- 50:07bonus pay, raise or promotion, has already struck a deal
- 50:11to turn her book about what she calls our version
- 50:14of Frost Nixon into a feature film, while Matlist is
- 50:17having her story adapted for a TV drama. The producer
- 50:20says she believes Britain has a blind spot journalistically when
- 50:24it comes to holding the royal family accountable in the
- 50:27same way as others who spend public money. She is
- 50:30not wrong about that there needs to be a lot
- 50:32more accountability for these so called royals, but she still
- 50:38thinks the US could learn something about exacting interviews from
- 50:41across the Pond, and cites the twenty twenty one Oprah
- 50:44Winfrey exclusive with Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry
- 50:49as an example. Again, She's not wrong. Where are all
- 50:52of the journalists in America like Emily Maitlis who want
- 50:56to sit down with Bill Clinton and get to the
- 50:58truth of it? So far, I haven't seen any of them.
- 51:04It was an incredibly interesting conversation that they had, but
- 51:07by no stretch of the imagination was that in an
- 51:09accountability interview. I think that art tradition of rigorous conversations
- 51:14really does allow for accountability, and that's hugely important, particularly
- 51:18in this generation of fake news and loss of trust
- 51:24in the media. As I've always said, if you can
- 51:26run a multimillion dollar company and you can run a country,
- 51:30then ten minutes with the presenter isn't any problem, is it?
- 51:33She checks herself. Well, for some people, it is clearly yeah.
- 51:37Some people, huh. I'm looking directly at the Clintons. I
- 51:40have had enough of these people finding a way to
- 51:44shuck and jive their way out of this nonsense. If
- 51:47Prince Andrew can get the spotlight thrown on him. When's
- 51:49that shit gonna happen here? I guess I shouldn't hold
- 51:52my breath though, right at least over in England they
- 51:56went hard on Prince Andrew. So that's a victory and
- 51:58now this disgusting, moronic imbecile is going to have to
- 52:04face the consequences for the rest of his life. If
- 52:10you'd like to contact me, you can do that at
- 52:12Bobby Kapuchi at ProtonMail dot com. That's bo bb Y
- 52:16c apu Cci at ProtonMail dot com. You can also
- 52:20find me on Twitter at Bobby underscore c ap Ucci.
- 52:27The link that I discussed can be found in the
- 52:29description box. All right, folks, we'll be back with a
- 52:32little bit more later on. Hope that all of you
- 52:35are having a good one. All right, So headline BBC's
- 52:39Emily Maitlist reveals Prince Andrew was happy with his Newsnight
- 52:43interview as she praises his candor despite car crash results. Boy,
- 52:48all right, this should be a good one. It is
- 52:52widely regarded as the car crash Pendenburg interview that eventually
- 52:57forced Prince Andrew to step back from public life, but
- 53:00the Duke of York was happy after filming the Newsnight
- 53:03program about his relationship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. According
- 53:08to Emily Maitliss, the BBC presenter said she had not
- 53:11expected the furre over the interview by critics who lamb
- 53:15baseded Andrew for failing to show regret or empathy for
- 53:18Epstein's victims. Huh you didn't expect that? What? So you
- 53:24thought you were gonna run this interview, missus Maelss and
- 53:26people were just gonna be like, ah, that's all right.
- 53:28You know, his story checks out. Andrew's story checks out.
- 53:31He can't sweat, he was getting pizza, He's never met her,
- 53:34his fingers are too fat. Come on, this is all
- 53:37These are all solid defense strategies here, folks. I mean really.
- 53:46He repeatedly denied claims he had sex with one of
- 53:49the women, Virginia Roberts, when she was seventeen, but was
- 53:52then accused of lying by Miss Roberts. Oh, and accused
- 53:55of lying by me, by the way, And okay, here
- 53:58we go, you folks, ready, I have to do it.
- 54:00I just can't help myself. You know who else thinks
- 54:02that Prince Andrew is lying? Oh? Here we go everybody
- 54:07in Alaska thinks you're a liar. They think you're a liar.
- 54:10In New Mexico. They think you're a liar. In Arizona.
- 54:14They think you're a liar. In New York. They think
- 54:17you're a liar in Delaware, sir. And they think you're
- 54:19a liar in Florida. They think you're a liar in
- 54:22New Mexico's New Mexico. You get where I'm going with this, right, folks,
- 54:28He's a liar. Nobody believes him. Okay, I don't believe him.
- 54:31I'm sure most of you out there don't believe him.
- 54:33Of all the emails I have received about this case,
- 54:36only one person has sent an email to saying that
- 54:39they don't believe Virginia Roberts when it comes to this case.
- 54:43So I don't. Honestly, I don't know how you don't
- 54:46believe And it's not her don't believe. Let's get something clear.
- 54:49It's not like I just believe whatever Virginia Roberts says.
- 54:53She has evidence backing this up. This stuff is corroborated.
- 54:56There's other people that were there, there's other people that
- 54:58saw her with this man. It is just absolutely, positively
- 55:03so disgusting to me. For people to deny that this occurred,
- 55:08it's so silly. The interview also led to renewed calls
- 55:13for Andrew fifty nine to be interviewed by the FBI
- 55:16about his friendship with disgraced financier Pedophile Epstein, who was
- 55:21found dead in his prison cell earlier this year. Miss
- 55:24Maitlis praised the Duke for his candor and answering her
- 55:26questions in an age when many public figures attempted to
- 55:30avoid scrutiny. He had no choice. What else was he
- 55:33gonna do. He knows what's coming down the pipe. He
- 55:36knows that the party is over for him, all right.
- 55:40And his candor, what do you mean? His candor? He
- 55:43wasn't candid. He was very obfuscated, and he lied and
- 55:47he threw up smoke screens. If he was being candid,
- 55:50he wouldn't have lied about that picture. He would have said, oh,
- 55:52I've never met Virginia all but I've never That wasn't
- 55:55me in the picture. My fingers are too fat. What
- 55:59I don't understand? And there's no candor there. She said
- 56:03that after the interview, her impression from him was definitely
- 56:06that he had been happy with it. She told The
- 56:09Radio Times she had been shocked by the public reaction
- 56:12to it, saying, I didn't see it coming. Oh my gosh.
- 56:15Really she must be tone deaf too. She didn't see
- 56:18it coming anybody. I don't understand how as a journalist
- 56:21you didn't see that coming. I mean, it took three
- 56:24seconds to hear what he was talking about, and I
- 56:26just put my hand to my head and said, oh
- 56:28my lord, what is this guy doing to himself? Now,
- 56:31don't get me wrong, I'm glad that he gave the interview,
- 56:33but if I was his lawyer, there would be no
- 56:36way I would let him a give an interview or
- 56:39b talk to anybody without being subpoenaed because this guy
- 56:43is obviously guilty. It wasn't an attempt to bring down
- 56:48the Royals, just a chance to understand the story. She
- 56:51doing some face saving her, folks. Is she doing a
- 56:53bit of safe, safe face saving so that she has
- 56:58access to the royals? Still? Could possibly be? What's going on?
- 57:02Come on this mate, list, I was starting to like you,
- 57:05she added. I admire him for his candor and his
- 57:07engagement with the questions in an age of so much
- 57:10deviation and circumnavigation and quite often a failure to put
- 57:14yourself up for scrutiny. Uh what, okay, great, Yeah, he
- 57:19sat down with an interview with you. He had no
- 57:21other choice. What was he going to do? The walls
- 57:24are closing in on him. His buddy Galaine end she's missing.
- 57:27He doesn't. No one knows where she is. Everyone's abandoned him.
- 57:31It wasn't like Andrew was part of the trafficking ring, folks.
- 57:33He was the dumbass who got caught up in the
- 57:36honey trap. Okay, he got caught up because he's a deviant,
- 57:40not because he's a sex trafficker. But unfortunately, your ignorance
- 57:44that she was traffic does not absolve you of your crimes.
- 57:49A she was under age, and B she was a
- 57:51trafficked girl. And see you enabled Jeffrey Epstein's behavior four
- 57:55years Prince. During the interview, Prince andrews that he did
- 58:00not recall meeting Miss Roberts and emphatically denied that he
- 58:03had sex with her on the occasion she said they
- 58:06first met in two thousand and one, when she claimed
- 58:08she was trafficked to Britain by Epstein. Claims, Okay, she's seventeen.
- 58:12She's on a plane. She's being used for sex, going
- 58:14across international lines from America to England. Sure sounds like
- 58:19trafficking to me. Okay. And not only does it sound
- 58:22like trafficking, it sounds like engaging in a criminal enterprise
- 58:27aka Rico. And I don't mean Rico suave folks, I
- 58:32mean the same Rico charges that decimated the Italian community
- 58:36in the eighties. He also questioned miss roberts account of
- 58:41them dancing, of them dancing together at the London nightclub
- 58:46Tramp when she said he was sweating heavily. The Duke
- 58:49of York said he suffered from a medical condition at
- 58:52the time, which meant he didn't sweat okay. He also
- 58:57sought to cast doubt on the authenticity of a photograph
- 58:59that showed him with his arm around Miss roberts waist,
- 59:02but conceded that it was difficult to prove if it
- 59:05was a fake. Obviously it's not a fake. The FBI
- 59:08has the picture. We saw the photographer from New Zealand
- 59:12who took the pictures. First. He came out, we'd read
- 59:15that article. He knows it's not a fake. The only
- 59:18one saying it's a fake. Are Andrew's licks biddles? The
- 59:20only ones who were saying it's fake are Andrew's people.
- 59:25The rest of us know the truth. Andrew admitted he
- 59:28had let the side down. Again, What is this? What
- 59:30is he a soccer player? What do you have? A
- 59:32soccer match? You scored an own goal? You let the
- 59:34side down? What does that even mean? You let your
- 59:37family down, You let your own country down, You let
- 59:40the girls down, really though, that's who you really let down, Andrew.
- 59:44You're supposed to be a prince, all right, he'd probably
- 59:47I'm guessing. I'm guessing he's a night too. I think
- 59:49he's the Knight of the Garter. That's fitting. But honestly,
- 59:53you're a prince if you're you're hanging out with a
- 59:55guy like Jeffrey Epstein. You have your own daughters that
- 59:58are young. You don't stand up to this, dude says
- 1:00:00screw you, dude, I don't want to be involved in
- 1:00:02that one. Are you crazy? And if you do have
- 1:00:04some sexual proclivities, right there are places where sex work
- 1:00:08is legal, go there and get involved. Do what you
- 1:00:11gotta do, buddy. The girls could love to have the
- 1:00:13money come out of the Nevada go up to the
- 1:00:16chicken ranch. They'd love to have you. You can go
- 1:00:19have the lamar odem treatment. Andrew had admitted he had
- 1:00:25let the side down when he had failed to cut
- 1:00:27ties with Epstein immediately after he was jailed in two
- 1:00:29thousand and eight for soliciting prostitution from a minor and
- 1:00:33a and registered as a sex offender. Not that he
- 1:00:36let the side down by actually messing with Virginia Roberts.
- 1:00:41Oh no, no, no, he didn't let the side down because
- 1:00:43he had sex with an underage girl when he was
- 1:00:45a prince and she was trafficked. Oh no, no, no,
- 1:00:47no no. The only way he let the side down
- 1:00:51was because he was friends with Epstein and he didn't
- 1:00:53break it off. It's just absolutely and positively tone deaf
- 1:00:58the way these people think about life. The prince said
- 1:01:02he visited him in New York in twenty ten after
- 1:01:04Epstein's release to break off the friendship, but regretted staying
- 1:01:08at his house while he was there. He told Miss Matelists,
- 1:01:11it was not something that was becoming of a member
- 1:01:13of the royal family, and we try and uphold the
- 1:01:16highest standards and practices, and then I let the side down.
- 1:01:19Simple as that. I'm sorry I had to break out
- 1:01:22my terrible English accent. I do apologize to all of
- 1:01:25the listeners from England. I know it's a really horrible,
- 1:01:29terrible English accent, but I can't help it. That's what
- 1:01:31I hear in my voice in my head when I'm
- 1:01:33reading this. I hear his stupid voice in my head,
- 1:01:35and he sounds it makes you want to punch him
- 1:01:37right in the face. After the Newsnight interview. After the
- 1:01:42Newsnight interview was broadcast in November, several of Andrew's business
- 1:01:46sponsors for his Pitch at Palace initiative announced they would
- 1:01:49no longer back the project. Many of his loyal patronages
- 1:01:54also sought to distance themselves from him, and he eventually
- 1:01:57announced he was stepping down from all his patronages in
- 1:02:00his royal duties. Meanwhile, Miss Roberts, now known by her
- 1:02:04married name Virginia Giffrey, gave her own interview to Panorama
- 1:02:08in which she insisted the Duke was lying when he
- 1:02:11denied meeting her. And then if you watch both of
- 1:02:13the interviews, folks, and like we all have, you can
- 1:02:16see how uncomfortable Andrew was as opposed to the anger
- 1:02:21and the pure fire that Virginia Roberts was spitting, and
- 1:02:24you could tell the pain. Just look at Virginia Roberts's
- 1:02:27face and any one of these interviews, and look at
- 1:02:28the pain in this poor girl's face. What she's had
- 1:02:31to go through for standing up to these people is
- 1:02:33absolutely absurd. It makes me so mad, It makes me
- 1:02:37so disgusted that the cripkeeper Alan Dershowitz, the tighty whitey
- 1:02:41wearing sicko, would have the audacity to talk all sorts
- 1:02:46of trash about this young lady. Meanwhile, meanwhile, Miss Roberts
- 1:02:55has insisted the Duke was lying when he denied meeting her.
- 1:02:59She said he had felt ashamed and dirty after they
- 1:03:01had sex, adding I had just been abused by a
- 1:03:04member of the royal family. I mean, wow, wow, wow, wow.
- 1:03:09I had just been abused by a member of the
- 1:03:11royal family. Think about that, folks, Think about how chilling
- 1:03:15that is. A lot of you out there have daughters,
- 1:03:17A lot of you have sisters. We all have mothers,
- 1:03:20We all have you know, aunts, cousins, whatever it may be.
- 1:03:22Think about them having the same treatment by Jeffrey Epstein.
- 1:03:25Think about somebody you care about, For a minute. Put
- 1:03:28yourself in the shoes of these people. There's no redress,
- 1:03:31there's no recourse. What can they do. They went to
- 1:03:33the authorities, nothing, They went to the media nothing. They
- 1:03:37went to everybody they possibly could go to. Nothing. Well
- 1:03:41guess what, that party that's over because independent content creators,
- 1:03:45we're stepping in to fill in the gap. We're stepping
- 1:03:48in to tell these people we're here. We're gonna report
- 1:03:50on this story. And that's just the end of it.
- 1:03:52Nobody can stop us. I don't have any sort of editor,
- 1:03:54I don't have anybody who's telling me what I can
- 1:03:57or can't report on, and I can I play. And
- 1:04:00I'm continuing to be that way, to be very independent
- 1:04:02from any sort of influence of trying to get me
- 1:04:05knocked off, of course, because it is way way too
- 1:04:10important and we are way too late in the game
- 1:04:13for anything like that to occur. We are right, we're
- 1:04:17moving the ball, folks. I've told you it's like a
- 1:04:19football game. It's like a tactical game of football. Might
- 1:04:23only get a couple of yards per carry, but guess
- 1:04:24what positive yards get them first downs. Play those sticks,
- 1:04:29keep them out of the end zone. And that's basically
- 1:04:32what's going on on a daily basis. We're not gonna
- 1:04:35let up the whole entire the whole, entire story is
- 1:04:40just beginning. I mean, we pull on one thread and
- 1:04:43we end up somewhere completely else. So the battle is on,
- 1:04:48and I know that you folks are ready. You folks
- 1:04:51are biting down on your mouthpiece, and I'm doing the
- 1:04:53same thing because I can't. I can't. I can't stand
- 1:04:57by and just let this occur. I can't stand by
- 1:04:59while the these people are walking walking the streets. I cannot.
- 1:05:03It's just I can't come to grips with that that
- 1:05:07that's the reality that we live in. I don't. I
- 1:05:09refuse to believe that as a nation, we're gonna let
- 1:05:13this occur. And I'm gonna do everything I possibly can
- 1:05:17to keep this story in the public view. I'm gonna
- 1:05:20do everything I possibly can to keep this story out there,
- 1:05:23and I'm gonna keep on talking about it, even if
- 1:05:25I'm deplatformed, even if they take away my show. Even
- 1:05:28if they do platform me, you can find me on
- 1:05:30Las Vegas Boulevard with a bullhorn spreading the word because
- 1:05:34I've had enough. I have just I'm just fed up
- 1:05:37and this is this is how this is how I
- 1:05:39fight back. This is my way of telling them to
- 1:05:42screw off. This is my way of telling the elites
- 1:05:44that we're onto them. And that's it. And that's just
- 1:05:48the end of it. Because what they've done to Virginia Roberts,
- 1:05:51what they've done to these other girls, what people like
- 1:05:53Harvey Weinstein and next Tom have done, it is just unconscionable.
- 1:05:57And what's even worse is the fact that they were
- 1:06:00protected by certain politicians and they were protected by their
- 1:06:03friends in the media. Well that's coming to an end, folks.
- 1:06:08This is this year twenty twenty. You know what's going down.
- 1:06:11Everyone in the back say it loud with me. We're
