- 0:49Speaker 3: I hope this letter catches up with you and finds.
- 0:53Speaker 4: You well.
- 0:57Speaker 5: It's been dry, but they're calling for rain.
- 1:01Speaker 6: And everything's the same old same.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Johnsonville.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Your stubborn old daddy ain't said too much.
- 1:14Speaker 7: But I'm sure you know he sends his love.
- 1:18Speaker 1: And she goes on.
- 1:22Speaker 7: In a letter from home.
- 1:23Speaker 8: Welcome, Ed.
- 1:25Speaker 1: It's John Michael Montgomery in a song written by David Lee,
- 1:29Speaker 1: who was out at the Stella Sessions last night. And fabulous.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Just outstanding. We're going to hear a few more of
- 1:38Speaker 1: his songs here on the show today. This portion of
- 1:41Speaker 1: the program brought to you by Central Texas Sports Medicine.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Coming up. We're going to preview Texas and Tennessee with
- 1:50Speaker 1: Hypel and Sark. We have got a high school report.
- 1:55Speaker 1: We're going to hear from Mike Elko and... Mallory is
- 1:59Speaker 1: here with the latest entertainment news. According to a police
- 2:03Speaker 1: report in Oxford, Mississippi, two Ole Miss students were found
- 2:09Speaker 1: dead of a possible overdose on campus yesterday afternoon. The
- 2:15Speaker 1: university releasing a statement, we are heartbroken by the recent
- 2:19Speaker 1: loss of two students and extend our condolences to their family, friends,
- 2:23Speaker 1: and loved ones during this difficult time. We are aware
- 2:26Speaker 1: that considerable unverified information is circulating on social media and
- 2:31Speaker 1: in the community. The coroner's office has confirmed two student
- 2:35Speaker 1: deaths and University Police are not aware of any additional deaths.
- 2:40Speaker 1: University Police remain in contact with local and state law
- 2:43Speaker 1: enforcement and the cause of those two deaths are still
- 2:47Speaker 1: under investigation. This comes after a release of all of
- 2:52Speaker 1: the activities surrounding police Over the weekend with the LSU
- 2:59Speaker 1: Ole Miss game, the Oxford Police Department and Ole Miss
- 3:04Speaker 1: Police Departments released weekend reports. You know, over 70,000 fans
- 3:12Speaker 1: in the stands, which was a record. 39 incidents, quote,
- 3:17Speaker 1: in its database. 13 of which happened at the stadium.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Six disorderly conducts. Five disturbances reported. one aggravated assault on
- 3:27Speaker 1: a police officer, and one use of EMS due to
- 3:32Speaker 1: an intoxicated person inside the stadium. The OPD report, Oxford,
- 3:38Speaker 1: 42 tickets, 43 accidents, 81 reports total surrounding that game
- 3:50Speaker 1: on Saturday. You know, they may or may not be
- 3:54Speaker 1: similar reports following LSU and Texas A & M in
- 4:01Speaker 1: Baton Rouge on Saturday night. The Aggies go to Baton
- 4:07Speaker 1: Rouge to take on the Tigers. That is an ABC
- 4:12Speaker 1: game on Saturday night. And I guess this is the
- 4:17Speaker 1: official Texas A & M announcing team. Joe Tessitore, Jesse Palmer,
- 4:22Speaker 1: Chris Budden. That is the third A & M game
- 4:25Speaker 1: I believe they will have done. So we'll see. Again,
- 4:33Speaker 1: that game will be a little bit after 6.30 on Saturday.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Oklahoma defensive tackle David Stone suffered a knee injury at
- 4:44Speaker 1: practice yesterday. Brent Venable said that Stone's knee, quote, quote,
- 4:49Speaker 1: kind of popped out when he collided with a scout
- 4:54Speaker 1: team player during a jog through at practice yesterday. I
- 4:59Speaker 1: wonder if that scout team player is still on the
- 5:00Speaker 1: team anymore. Test results on Stone's knee were positive, or
- 5:06Speaker 1: I guess that means negative. He said Stone reported a
- 5:10Speaker 1: pain level of 2 out of 10. Venables indicated he's
- 5:17Speaker 1: not ruling out Stone for the SEC opener against Georgia
- 5:23Speaker 1: on Saturday. Baseball tonight. Important baseball tonight. Rangers hosting the Mets.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I'm told the Mets manager has a new contract. Mets
- 5:40Speaker 1: at 71-85. The Rangers 78 up, 78 down. One game
- 5:47Speaker 1: ahead of the Astros with six to play. Mackenzie Gore,
- 5:52Speaker 1: who has been.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Wildly inconsistent on the mound for the Rangers tonight. That
- 6:01Speaker 1: game will start at 7.05. The Rangers. have won six
- 6:08Speaker 1: of their last eight to take the lead in the
- 6:13Speaker 1: AL West. The Astros are in Seattle to take on
- 6:18Speaker 1: the Mariners. The Astros are two and nine against Seattle
- 6:24Speaker 1: so far this year. They have lost 10 of 14
- 6:28Speaker 1: and slipped a game under 500, uh, Two games under.
- 6:35Speaker 9: 500.
- 6:35Speaker 1: We'll see what happens with Astros-Mariners. And are we carrying
- 6:41Speaker 1: that game tonight? I believe we're carrying that game tonight.
- 6:44Speaker 1: That's on the left coast. By the way, the Rangers
- 6:49Speaker 1: play the Mets tomorrow night, and they will play on
- 6:53Speaker 1: Thursday afternoon as well in Arlington. Yankees manager Aaron Boone
- 7:00Speaker 1: says he does not expect to have Aaron Judge available
- 7:05Speaker 1: for the Wild Card Series next week. Boone said today
- 7:10Speaker 1: we're planning on him not being part of that. Judge
- 7:15Speaker 1: was placed on the injured list with a right calf
- 7:18Speaker 1: strain on Friday, two days after coming out of the
- 7:23Speaker 1: game against the Twins. The team called it a moderate-grade strain.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Of course, Judge had just gotten back in the lineup.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Says he will avoid physical activity the next couple of days. Hey,
- 7:39Speaker 1: if you will pay me about $ 25 million, which I
- 7:42Speaker 1: think is right where they're paying Aaron Judge, or maybe
- 7:45Speaker 1: a little more, I will vow to you to avoid
- 7:51Speaker 1: physical activity in the next couple of days. I would
- 7:57Speaker 1: say that for half of what they're paying Aaron Judge,
- 8:02Speaker 1: I will avoid physical activity. How much is he getting paid?
- 8:06Speaker 1: $ 40 million a year. Okay, I way underestimated that. Okay,
- 8:10Speaker 1: so for a third of what they're paying Aaron Judge,
- 8:16Speaker 1: I will vow to avoid any physical activity in the
- 8:21Speaker 1: next couple of days. The Boston Red Sox, heading for
- 8:26Speaker 1: the postseason, have removed the interim tag from Chad Tracy,
- 8:34Speaker 1: citing him to a three-year contract through 2029 with a
- 8:38Speaker 1: club option for 2030. And they've exercised their 29 and
- 8:44Speaker 1: 30 options on Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow. The elevation
- 8:52Speaker 1: of Tracy comes after the Red Sox secured a wildcard
- 8:56Speaker 1: spot in the playoffs on Sunday. He took over in
- 9:00Speaker 1: April after a 10-17 start and guided the Red Sox
- 9:03Speaker 1: to a 74-55 record, including a 15-game winning streak. Remember that?
- 9:15Speaker 1: Remember that Boston won 27 of 30 games between July
- 9:21Speaker 1: 3rd and August 7th? Well, that earned Chad Tracy some
- 9:27Speaker 1: money and a three-year contract as manager. By the way,
- 9:31Speaker 1: the Yankees and Rays are playing a rare doubleheader today.
- 9:38Speaker 1: What's the score of that first game?
- 9:42Speaker 10: Stan?
- 9:43Speaker 4: It was 2-0 Yankees.
- 9:45Speaker 1: That's final? Already over? Okay. So I don't think the
- 9:49Speaker 1: second game's probably started yet. All right. 2-0 Yankees won
- 9:53Speaker 1: that one. All right. We're going to take a break. Tomorrow,
- 10:01Speaker 1: I think we're probably going to preview another SEC game. No,
- 10:10Speaker 1: I tell you what we have tomorrow. We're going to
- 10:14Speaker 1: hear from Lane Kiffin tomorrow. Scott Clendenin will be with
- 10:18Speaker 1: us tomorrow. Mallory will be with us tomorrow. Thursday, we'll
- 10:23Speaker 1: have Damian Sanford, the linebacker that's slowly coming back for
- 10:29Speaker 1: the Aggies. He's expected to play even more on Saturday evening.
- 10:35Speaker 1: We'll have another high school report from Caleb. We'll have
- 10:38Speaker 1: our Clark Eisenhower outdoor edition. And then Friday, our usual suspects.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Kirk Bowles will join me along with Tony Catalina. We'll
- 10:50Speaker 1: have plenty to talk about on Friday. Ryan and Caleb
- 10:54Speaker 1: will be in on Friday. All right. We'll take a break.
- 10:58Speaker 1: This portion of the show. is brought to you by
- 11:01Speaker 1: ANCO Insurance.

- 11:33Speaker 12: An Aggie Football Saturday on the Zone starts four hours
- 11:36Speaker 12: before kickoff with the game day show, and it wraps
- 11:39Speaker 12: up 30 minutes after the game with the call-in show.
- 11:43Speaker 12: An Aggie Football Saturday on the Zone brought to you
- 11:46Speaker 12: in part by KOC Outdoors, Buffy's Catering and Bartending, George
- 11:51Speaker 12: Bush Presidential Library and Museum, and Gage Gandy Bell Bonds.
- 11:55Speaker 12: Spend your Aggie Football Saturday right here on the Zone,
- 11:58Speaker 12: 1150 a.m.
- 11:59Speaker 10: And 93.7 fm.
- 12:05Speaker 13: I've never been a cool hand loop quarterback of the
- 12:10Speaker 13: winning team.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Or the guy with the right.
- 12:14Speaker 13: Kind of punch lines everybody wants to be I never
- 12:19Speaker 13: was at a lucky old cuss with a straight flush
- 12:22Speaker 13: in his hand but with you.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I ain't no Patrick Swayze.
- 12:34Speaker 13: My whole boots never danced on air. Never walked with
- 12:38Speaker 13: a swag looking sharp as a tag. Lit up like
- 12:42Speaker 13: Times Square.
- 12:44Speaker 14: Who's that guy with a big old.
- 12:46Speaker 13: Smile as wide as the Rio Grande?
- 12:50Speaker 10: Oh, with you, I.
- 12:56Speaker 4: Strong as an oak, soft like leather.
- 13:00Speaker 13: High as a pine and light as a feather. The
- 13:03Speaker 13: same old boy, but a whole lot better. Whenever you're
- 13:07Speaker 13: holding my hand, I used to poke fun at them
- 13:11Speaker 13: pawn-strunk lovers. I never thought I'd be that man.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Oh, but with you. That's another David Lee song that
- 13:23Speaker 1: Cody Johnson made a hit out of. Again, playing a
- 13:26Speaker 1: couple of songs from David Lee after he was in
- 13:29Speaker 1: town last night. With the Stella Sessions, very cool. And
- 13:35Speaker 1: just a terrific evening out there. Thanks to Corliss. Thanks
- 13:39Speaker 1: to Spencer, the folks at the Stella Hotel. Kyle Hutton
- 13:44Speaker 1: for putting all this together. It is so cool. To
- 13:47Speaker 1: have these terrific songwriters in every month. And it's just
- 13:53Speaker 1: been fun. Okay. Coming up on Saturday morning in Knoxville,
- 14:00Speaker 1: Tennessee is hosting Texas. I think I read this is
- 14:05Speaker 1: only the fourth time those teams have played. And the
- 14:11Speaker 1: Longhorns are a three-and-a-half point favorite in Did I see
- 14:18Speaker 1: they went to five and a half? Would you look
- 14:21Speaker 1: at that? Up at five and a half. It's gone
- 14:25Speaker 1: up two points. Wow. That surprises me, honestly. Okay. Let's hear,
- 14:39Speaker 1: first of all, from Josh Heupel.
- 14:41Speaker 15: Excited to start conference play and know that we're getting
- 14:44Speaker 15: ready to play a great opponent in texas um early
- 14:48Speaker 15: kickoff checker kneeland to our fan base however you get
- 14:53Speaker 15: ready for uh for game time wake up early and
- 14:56Speaker 15: whatever you you need to be at your best at
- 14:58Speaker 15: 12 make sure you're ready to to be at your
- 15:00Speaker 15: best at 12 and be a part of the football
- 15:03Speaker 15: game uh for 60 minutes um Texas, obviously, battle-tested, very
- 15:09Speaker 15: veteran group, starts with their quarterback, but they have experience
- 15:13Speaker 15: up front on the offensive line and a ton of
- 15:15Speaker 15: experience on the defense side of the football, extremely athletic,
- 15:20Speaker 15: be a great test. So open it up.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Give us a.
- 15:24Speaker 3: Breakdown of what specifically you see in Arch Manning.
- 15:27Speaker 15: Smart. He's got really good command and control of what's
- 15:31Speaker 15: going on. I think you can go back to the
- 15:35Speaker 15: Ohio state game, uh, his, his ability and his team's ability, um,
- 15:41Speaker 15: to be resilient, to keep playing the next play, um,
- 15:44Speaker 15: to be in a situation like that and be able
- 15:46Speaker 15: to fight back, uh, it tells you about their competitive makeup.
- 15:53Speaker 15: You guys have tackled through the first three games. Um,
- 15:57Speaker 15: you know, there's a couple of the other night that, uh,
- 15:59Speaker 15: we gotta be better on fundamentally.
- 16:01Speaker 3: Um, Solid.
- 16:03Speaker 15: Here are the first three games. Obviously, heading into conference play,
- 16:08Speaker 15: in space in particular, those things will be tested. You've
- 16:11Speaker 15: got to do a great job of fundamentals, angles, and
- 16:14Speaker 15: when it's time to pull your pin, finish it and
- 16:16Speaker 15: wrap it up.
- 16:17Speaker 16: How much did you all tackle in fall camp this
- 16:19Speaker 16: year compared to past seasons?
- 16:22Speaker 15: Similar amount. Probably a little bit more fundamental work on it.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Up front here, where's Brent at?
- 16:31Speaker 17: You guys have obviously rushed for a bunch of yards
- 16:33Speaker 17: right at 900 yards.
- 16:35Speaker 5: Stats are stats.
- 16:36Speaker 9: When you grade it out and look at it on film,
- 16:38Speaker 9: where is this line playing well?
- 16:40Speaker 3: What concerns do you have.
- 16:44Speaker 9: With this group at this point as you move into
- 16:46Speaker 9: conference play?
- 16:46Speaker 15: As you get into conference play, you're going to play
- 16:51Speaker 15: extremely talented fronts in this league typically every week. Texas
- 16:56Speaker 15: is certainly that great length. Inside, extremely wide-hipped, strong, physical.
- 17:05Speaker 15: We'll knock you back if you're not playing with great
- 17:07Speaker 15: pad level and playing with hands. At the end of
- 17:11Speaker 15: the day, identification, combinations, playing with fundamentals. You know, you
- 17:16Speaker 15: play whatever. 70 plays in a game, it's not going
- 17:19Speaker 15: to be perfect up front. But all in all, it's
- 17:23Speaker 15: been solid. But this will be our biggest test, you know,
- 17:26Speaker 15: as far as the front seven that we're playing. They're
- 17:32Speaker 15: playing physical. There's some things that haven't been perfect, but
- 17:39Speaker 15: they're playing hard.
- 17:43Speaker 18: Texas defense looks like they're pretty good at limiting explosives.
- 17:46Speaker 18: What's the source of that that you see on film?
- 17:49Speaker 15: Their front, the ability to apply pressure. There haven't been
- 17:55Speaker 15: a lot of runs that have popped on them, you know,
- 17:58Speaker 15: gap integrity, you physical at the point of attack, but
- 18:02Speaker 15: all three levels of the defense fitting things together. And
- 18:07Speaker 15: then pass defense-wise, they're going to play zone principles, match principles,
- 18:13Speaker 15: a lot of different pressures. All of that combined with
- 18:18Speaker 15: their talent and athleticism have limited their explosives.
- 18:25Speaker 19: So you've played a lot of big games over your
- 18:26Speaker 19: time here. Does your messaging change at all during the week?
- 18:29Speaker 19: In the past, I feel like you've said to embrace
- 18:31Speaker 19: big games like this but also lock in and focus
- 18:33Speaker 19: during the week.
- 18:34Speaker 15: Yeah, there's more media attention or whatever on this football game.
- 18:38Speaker 15: At the end of the day, it's the beginning of
- 18:40Speaker 15: conference play. You've got to understand the quality of the
- 18:43Speaker 15: opponent that you're getting ready to play. Saturday will be
- 18:46Speaker 15: electric in the stadium, but it comes down to winning
- 18:50Speaker 15: each day, your preparation and practicing the right way to
- 18:54Speaker 15: give yourself a chance.
- 19:00Speaker 19: After you've been able to go back and watch it,
- 19:01Speaker 19: what do you think about what you got from your
- 19:02Speaker 19: tight ends on Saturday?
- 19:04Speaker 5: Solid.
- 19:04Speaker 15: I thought they did a good job in the run game,
- 19:07Speaker 15: made some plays in the pass game. Protections were solid
- 19:11Speaker 15: for a majority of the night. There's a couple things
- 19:14Speaker 15: fundamentally that we want to clean up, but all in all, solid.
- 19:16Speaker 18: Through the first three games, what did you saw from
- 19:22Speaker 18: Donovan Haslam? How would you kind of break down what
- 19:25Speaker 18: he's been able to give you and what's he do
- 19:27Speaker 18: well in the run game?
- 19:29Speaker 15: Yeah, physicality is one of his best traits. He's a
- 19:35Speaker 15: guy that in the middle of training camp was nicked
- 19:38Speaker 15: up for a while. I think he's starting to play
- 19:41Speaker 15: himself into better shape and played well the other night.
- 19:45Speaker 10: Page in the back.
- 19:50Speaker 20: Talk that the DBs haven't been tested as much as
- 19:53Speaker 20: they would like to at this point in the season.
- 19:54Speaker 20: What gives you confidence that guys like Ty Redman, Kyan
- 19:57Speaker 20: Lee can match well with Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo?
- 20:00Speaker 15: Those are two really talented players for Texas. Both of
- 20:06Speaker 15: our guys have played in this league. They've played good
- 20:09Speaker 15: amount of football. They've seen good players. They haven't been
- 20:12Speaker 15: tested the way that will be tested on Saturday afternoon,
- 20:16Speaker 15: but I expect those guys to go play in a
- 20:18Speaker 15: great way.
- 20:23Speaker 9: How is Deshaun Bishop feeling today?
- 20:26Speaker 15: I have not talked to him, but I think he's
- 20:29Speaker 15: feeling pretty good.
- 20:31Speaker 9: With the offensive line, it seems like Jesse has really
- 20:35Speaker 9: settled in at right tackle do you think that's a
- 20:37Speaker 9: byproduct of really playing a lot of right tackle these
- 20:41Speaker 9: last two games compared to that first game where he
- 20:43Speaker 9: was playing multiple spots and how do you assess kind
- 20:45Speaker 9: of where y'all are at with the rotations along the
- 20:48Speaker 9: offensive line as you get into sec play.
- 20:50Speaker 15: Yeah um rotations you know expect first of all you
- 20:54Speaker 15: go through this this league you're gonna need them all
- 20:56Speaker 15: you guys are probably tired of me saying that but
- 21:00Speaker 15: uh that's the the truth um but i think jesse's
- 21:03Speaker 15: done a really good job uh at right tackle and
- 21:06Speaker 15: um you know has played both um in his career
- 21:11Speaker 15: guard and tackle but uh has settled in playing playing
- 21:14Speaker 15: really well here the last couple weeks at tackle.
- 21:19Speaker 21: You mentioned some of texas's experience what do you see
- 21:22Speaker 21: in their offensive.
- 21:23Speaker 15: Line Yeah, a group that's playing with good physicality. They're
- 21:27Speaker 15: doing a really good job in their protections. So it's
- 21:32Speaker 15: an experienced, really good group. Their tackles are high-level players.
- 21:39Speaker 19: You talked about Texas' defense, their personnel schematically with Muschamp
- 21:43Speaker 19: coming in. Are they different from years past? Do you
- 21:45Speaker 19: have to go back to old film from his defense
- 21:48Speaker 19: to get ready for this game? And what do you
- 21:49Speaker 19: think they'll throw at Faison?
- 21:50Speaker 15: Yeah, they're three games in at this point. You kind
- 21:54Speaker 15: of have a general idea of their identity and how
- 21:58Speaker 15: they want to play and their personnel. Their personnel gives
- 22:03Speaker 15: them a lot of freedom to do a lot of
- 22:05Speaker 15: different things from pressure to coverage and rotations. So you
- 22:12Speaker 15: get into conference play, you know you're going to see
- 22:14Speaker 15: something that's not on the film too, and you've got
- 22:17Speaker 15: to be able to adjust.
- 22:18Speaker 1: It's Josh Heupel talking about hosting the Longhorns on Saturday.
- 22:26Speaker 1: I'm told that opened higher at 7.5 and it's down
- 22:30Speaker 1: to 5.5. That makes more sense to me. That makes
- 22:35Speaker 1: more sense to me. So we're going to hear from Sark.
- 22:41Speaker 1: This is the fourth time these two teams will have played.
- 22:43Speaker 1: The last time they played, 1969 Cotton Bowl. after the
- 22:49Speaker 1: 68 season, January 1st, in Dallas, at the Cotton Bowl, 1969.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I was at that Cotton Bowl. I went to lots
- 23:03Speaker 1: of Cotton Bowls. I grew up in Dallas. So I
- 23:09Speaker 1: saw the last time Texas and Tennessee played. I'm told
- 23:16Speaker 1: they played the year I was born, and that my
- 23:23Speaker 1: parents were at that game and my mom was pregnant
- 23:26Speaker 1: with me. So I've really seen two Tennessee and Texas
- 23:30Speaker 1: games out of the three that they've played. Here is
- 23:34Speaker 1: Steve Sarkisian.
- 23:38Speaker 22: You know, I want to kick it off again just
- 23:39Speaker 22: by thanking our fans. What an awesome atmosphere. We had
- 23:43Speaker 22: a DKR again Saturday night. You know, you're not not
- 23:48Speaker 22: 23 and one in your last 24 games at home.
- 23:51Speaker 22: And you don't have a 12 straight home winning streak
- 23:54Speaker 22: without great support from our fans. So thank you Longhorn
- 23:57Speaker 22: nation for your support of this team and, and what
- 24:00Speaker 22: we've been doing over the past.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Few years at home.
- 24:03Speaker 22: As far as the ball game goes, you know, I thought,
- 24:05Speaker 22: you know, we started off the game really well. Obviously
- 24:08Speaker 22: anytime you get a turnover on the first play of
- 24:10Speaker 22: the game, but you know, you get 17 points off
- 24:13Speaker 22: of your first three drives and, I thought defensively they
- 24:17Speaker 22: had the one 13-play drive where the ball kind of
- 24:20Speaker 22: got to the edge on us. And then after that,
- 24:23Speaker 22: I think they went the rest of the first half,
- 24:25Speaker 22: I think they ran 12 plays for 11 yards. It
- 24:28Speaker 22: was 10 straight third-down stops, eight punts. So defensively it
- 24:33Speaker 22: was fantastic. I felt like offensively we just kind of
- 24:35Speaker 22: hit a little bit of a lull.
- 24:36Speaker 1: It was kind of like, okay, we got 17 points.
- 24:39Speaker 22: We didn't quite play the way we want to play
- 24:41Speaker 22: and capable of playing. I thought there were some positives
- 24:44Speaker 22: in special teams. I think Giovanni continues to be a
- 24:48Speaker 22: weapon for us, five for five on field goals. The
- 24:51Speaker 22: amount of touchbacks we're getting on kickoffs have been tremendous.
- 24:56Speaker 1: We had some return opportunities.
- 24:57Speaker 22: There was a couple tough calls we got in the
- 25:00Speaker 22: return game that we need to clean up, but it
- 25:02Speaker 22: was good to get Ryan with the ball in his
- 25:03Speaker 22: hands in the return game. We need to shore up
- 25:06Speaker 22: some things in the kickoff return game to be even
- 25:09Speaker 22: better there.
- 25:09Speaker 1: But here's the deal.
- 25:11Speaker 22: We're starting SEC play, and we've all We all sat
- 25:15Speaker 22: around when you had some time Saturday and watched some
- 25:18Speaker 22: of the games. And this conference, I've said it time
- 25:20Speaker 22: and time again, from top to bottom, anybody can beat anybody.
- 25:25Speaker 22: And I think that's the challenge of our conference is
- 25:28Speaker 22: being mentally and physically prepared to play week in and
- 25:31Speaker 22: week out.
- 25:32Speaker 1: And for us this week, it's no different.
- 25:34Speaker 22: We're going into what I would probably consider is the
- 25:36Speaker 22: loudest stadium in the country, Neyland Stadium. I think Coach
- 25:39Speaker 22: Heupel's done a tremendous job there with what he's done
- 25:44Speaker 22: offensively and the amount of explosive plays. But they've evolved
- 25:48Speaker 22: some offensively. This is a team that believes in running
- 25:51Speaker 22: the football. They got two great runners in Bishop and Morris,
- 25:54Speaker 22: guys who can run the football. Got a true freshman
- 25:57Speaker 22: quarterback in Faison Brandon who's got elite arm talent. And
- 26:01Speaker 22: the challenge they pose is their ability to run the
- 26:03Speaker 22: ball and And then their ability to take their shots
- 26:06Speaker 22: down the field, which is what they've been notorious for
- 26:08Speaker 22: over the years, is the big home run plays down
- 26:11Speaker 22: the field. So you've got to be able to play
- 26:12Speaker 22: both and then play it against the tempo and how
- 26:16Speaker 22: fast they go. Obviously, defensively, bringing in Jim Knowles, who's
- 26:21Speaker 22: as respected of defensive coordinators there is in the country.
- 26:23Speaker 22: He's done it at multiple stops. So you've got a
- 26:27Speaker 22: very good group. They're aggressive at the line of scrimmage.
- 26:30Speaker 22: They mix their coverages in the back end. So we've
- 26:33Speaker 22: got a heck of a challenge going into a hostile environment. Obviously,
- 26:36Speaker 22: with game day coming, they'll be all charged up, ready
- 26:39Speaker 22: to go. I think naturally for us when we go
- 26:41Speaker 22: on the road, we've got to focus on what we
- 26:43Speaker 22: need to do. We need to stay really connected, and
- 26:46Speaker 22: we need to have the ability to execute in all
- 26:48Speaker 22: three phases to be successful.
- 26:50Speaker 17: Steve, what have you seen from this team over the
- 26:51Speaker 17: first three weeks that leads you to believe they're better
- 26:54Speaker 17: equipped to handle SEC play starting on the road compared
- 26:57Speaker 17: to last year's team?
- 26:58Speaker 1: Well, it's a tough, you know, I get it.
- 27:01Speaker 22: We didn't play well at Florida last year, but we
- 27:04Speaker 22: are 13-3 in SEC play, which is the best record
- 27:07Speaker 22: in the conference in our two years in the conference.
- 27:09Speaker 22: So I'm very confident in our ability to go on
- 27:11Speaker 22: the road and play well.
- 27:12Speaker 4: Stay on the right, Danny.
- 27:14Speaker 1: I'm Steve.
- 27:14Speaker 9: What makes Neyland Stadium so loud or a tough place
- 27:18Speaker 9: to play?
- 27:18Speaker 22: You've got to ask the engineers that put it together.
- 27:21Speaker 22: It's 100-something thousand. I don't know the exact number of
- 27:24Speaker 22: what it holds, 102, 103, similar.
- 27:26Speaker 1: To our place.
- 27:28Speaker 22: But the structure of it is what it is. Their
- 27:30Speaker 22: fans are engaged. They understand football. They've got a lot
- 27:33Speaker 22: of pride in their program. But I don't know the
- 27:38Speaker 22: structure of it, why. If it's more vertical, I'm not
- 27:40Speaker 22: sure how it is. It's enclosed, but it's definitely a
- 27:43Speaker 22: loud place.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Over here on.
- 27:44Speaker 5: The left, Hank.
- 27:45Speaker 21: Hey, Coach.
- 27:46Speaker 17: It was a small sample size on Saturday night with
- 27:48Speaker 17: Michael Masunis.
- 27:49Speaker 1: He had 10 snaps, but played pretty well.
- 27:51Speaker 17: Is his usage more a credit to Winston and Shannon
- 27:55Speaker 17: kind of raising their level of play, or is he
- 27:57Speaker 17: someone you want to get going more as you get
- 27:59Speaker 17: into SEC play?
- 27:59Speaker 22: Well, to us, like at that position, you know, especially
- 28:02Speaker 22: when we had Nick, we had four guys, and it
- 28:04Speaker 22: was real competition, you know, and it's how you practice.
- 28:06Speaker 22: It's the level of consistency. It's the physicality in which
- 28:10Speaker 22: we play. It's the knowing what to do. And so
- 28:13Speaker 22: it's not necessarily a takeaway from Mike Masunis. I think
- 28:16Speaker 22: it's credit to Spencer Shannon, Amari Winston, and Nick Townsend. So, hey,
- 28:21Speaker 22: the more consistency we can get out of Mike, the better.
- 28:23Speaker 22: We're going to need all those bodies. I said that
- 28:25Speaker 22: before the year. We've got four guys in that room.
- 28:28Speaker 22: We're going to need all those bodies to contribute, some
- 28:31Speaker 22: at varying times more than others. So hopefully he can
- 28:34Speaker 22: continue to come on and that we can use him more.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Stay on the left, Thomas.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Sark, how's Colin Simmons doing? Did he practice today?
- 28:41Speaker 22: There's called an injury report in the SEC, so that's
- 28:44Speaker 22: enough of the injury questions.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Okay.
- 28:47Speaker 9: That's it.
- 28:48Speaker 17: Senator?
- 28:49Speaker 10: Yeah, Saturday night you said you were learning your team
- 28:53Speaker 10: and trying to, you know, you know the identity, but.
- 28:56Speaker 1: You're still learning. Who are the Longhorns right now, three
- 28:59Speaker 1: games in?
- 29:01Speaker 22: Well, I think we're a team that is very well connected.
- 29:04Speaker 22: I think that plays well with one another. I think
- 29:06Speaker 22: we take pride in our conditioning. You look at the
- 29:08Speaker 22: scores in the second half of our three games. You
- 29:11Speaker 22: look at the scores in the fourth quarter of our
- 29:12Speaker 22: three games. These guys believe in their conditioning. They believe
- 29:16Speaker 22: in the adjustments that the coaches are making, and they
- 29:18Speaker 22: go execute and they continue to play together.
- 29:20Speaker 1: That's very encouraging.
- 29:22Speaker 22: We're going to continue to find out more as the
- 29:25Speaker 22: season unveils itself to us. And we've got more challenges
- 29:28Speaker 22: ahead of us. Obviously, this weekend it starts with Tennessee.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Sark didn't like the Collins injury question, apparently. Apparently, he
- 29:39Speaker 1: didn't like that. We have a significant anniversary in college
- 29:45Speaker 1: football history today. Coming up in about 15 minutes, I'm
- 29:51Speaker 1: going to talk about it. We're going to hear some audio.
- 29:57Speaker 1: You will be familiar with it. It was a classic,
- 30:01Speaker 1: one of the all-time classics, I would say. And we're
- 30:07Speaker 1: going to talk about that. We have a high school
- 30:10Speaker 1: report coming up. We're going to hear from Mike Elko
- 30:13Speaker 1: in the second hour. Mallory will be with us in
- 30:16Speaker 1: the second hour with entertainment news as well. You know,
- 30:21Speaker 1: Galleria Spa Salon, Galleria Day Spa has been part of

- 31:18Speaker 1: if you will make just a little extra effort, although
- 31:21Speaker 1: you can get them online online, They will put them
- 31:24Speaker 1: in a really nice little bag with a nice bow

- 32:50Speaker 4: Stretch Armstrong, yeah.
- 32:58Speaker 14: I was Roger Stahlbag in my backyard, had a shoebox
- 33:01Speaker 14: full of baseball cards and a couple of evil needle
- 33:05Speaker 14: scars on my right arm.
- 33:09Speaker 4: I was a kid when Elvis.
- 33:11Speaker 16: Welcome into the High School Report. I'm Caleb Rapley, and
- 33:14Speaker 16: today we are jumping out to the Polaris Fun Center
- 33:16Speaker 16: phone line to visit with the head coach of the
- 33:18Speaker 16: Elgin Wildcats football team, Mr.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Rich Lucero.
- 33:21Speaker 16: Coach, thanks for joining me today.
- 33:23Speaker 10: Absolutely. It's our pleasure to join you.
- 33:26Speaker 16: Well, we are in the full swing of the Texas
- 33:28Speaker 16: high school football season. You know, all of our Texas
- 33:32Speaker 16: residents' favorite time of year. Your Wildcats with a solid
- 33:35Speaker 16: start to 2026, a 2-2 record so far in non-district play.
- 33:42Speaker 16: So what have been your takeaways from these first four
- 33:44Speaker 16: games of the season?
- 33:46Speaker 10: Well, you know, we knew going into this season, you know,
- 33:48Speaker 10: we're really young and inexperienced. I mean, we've got, we're
- 33:51Speaker 10: carrying 12 sophomores. We've got a sophomore starting quarterback. We
- 33:54Speaker 10: don't have a senior on the offensive line and at
- 33:57Speaker 10: running back, we got a freshman and a sophomore. So
- 34:01Speaker 10: really young. And so we knew it was going to
- 34:03Speaker 10: be a challenge and it's, it's really been tough, but
- 34:07Speaker 10: you add to that, you know, this will be our
- 34:09Speaker 10: fifth road game and, To be 2-2 and to have
- 34:12Speaker 10: equaled last year's win totals right now, you know, just
- 34:15Speaker 10: couldn't wear plays with the guys. And so got a
- 34:18Speaker 10: lot of football to go, but, you know, we're pleased
- 34:21Speaker 10: with our start.
- 34:22Speaker 16: So, yeah, very young team. Only two starters back on offense,
- 34:27Speaker 16: four on defense. And you are in your second year
- 34:30Speaker 16: as head coach with the Wildcats. So with all those
- 34:34Speaker 16: factors combined, you know, have there been any– older players
- 34:38Speaker 16: that you've been able to rely on to lead this
- 34:40Speaker 16: young team?
- 34:41Speaker 10: Yeah, you know, there's really three that I can really
- 34:46Speaker 10: talk to right now, and that's Mike Linebacker, Trey Flores,
- 34:50Speaker 10: who played quarterback for us last year kind of out
- 34:52Speaker 10: of necessity. Safety Wyatt Cooper has been a guy that
- 34:56Speaker 10: has been a good guy for us. And then Jordan Petty,
- 35:00Speaker 10: a defensive end. Those three guys have really– stepped up and,
- 35:05Speaker 10: you know, last week, for example, we threw a pick
- 35:07Speaker 10: six and the score was 15 to seven and went
- 35:11Speaker 10: against Del Valle. Otherwise, you know, our defense shut them out.
- 35:14Speaker 10: And so I can't say enough about those three, you know,
- 35:17Speaker 10: they've really stepped up their leadership and really much needed,
- 35:22Speaker 10: you know, and so they've, they've had our backs and
- 35:24Speaker 10: they've been playing well. In fact, you know, they played
- 35:27Speaker 10: a lot of snaps. A lot of times, you know,
- 35:28Speaker 10: we struggled offensively because, you know, just the life experience,
- 35:31Speaker 10: but those guys have held it down. And so really
- 35:34Speaker 10: pleased with those three, you know, that I could highlight
- 35:37Speaker 10: for sure.
- 35:39Speaker 16: And this year, um, renovating your stadium right now. So
- 35:43Speaker 16: playing your first seven games of the season on the road.
- 35:47Speaker 16: So how does that change your mindset when getting ready
- 35:49Speaker 16: for games every week, knowing it's going to be a
- 35:52Speaker 16: road game and you're not going to have that friendly
- 35:53Speaker 16: home atmosphere?
- 35:55Speaker 10: Yeah, it's been a challenge, you know, and that's another thing,
- 35:58Speaker 10: you know, it's a credit to our kids and to
- 36:01Speaker 10: our coaches, you know, um, you don't think about it
- 36:04Speaker 10: while you're in the middle of it because it is
- 36:06Speaker 10: what it is. The schedule is what it is. And
- 36:08Speaker 10: we knew going into it was, you know, we're going
- 36:10Speaker 10: to have to do this, but man, our kids haven't blinked.
- 36:13Speaker 10: Our coaches haven't blinked. And obviously it helps that we
- 36:17Speaker 10: played a lot of close games, but still, I mean,
- 36:20Speaker 10: not having that home field advantage and just having the
- 36:22Speaker 10: energy that you would have at a home game has
- 36:25Speaker 10: been a real big challenge for us. But I can't
- 36:27Speaker 10: say enough about the way that our kids and our
- 36:29Speaker 10: coaches have handled it. And so, um, Again, this will
- 36:32Speaker 10: be the feathers we'll venture out when we go to
- 36:34Speaker 10: Bryan this week. It's a good two hours on a bus,
- 36:38Speaker 10: and so that'll be different. But then it's a Thursday game,
- 36:42Speaker 10: so it's a short week after an emotional win. And then, fortunately,
- 36:47Speaker 10: we get bye week. And so we're looking forward to
- 36:51Speaker 10: playing our best against a very good Bryan team this week,
- 36:54Speaker 10: and then obviously looking forward to the bye week.
- 36:57Speaker 16: So while we're talking about the Rudder Rangers, They have
- 37:01Speaker 16: had a pretty solid start to their season at 3-1.
- 37:04Speaker 16: So what do you expect to see from them as
- 37:06Speaker 16: you all come here to the Brazos Valley to take
- 37:08Speaker 16: on the Rangers?
- 37:10Speaker 10: Yeah, we've been impressed. And talking to Coach Cesar a lot,
- 37:14Speaker 10: he feels really good about his junior class. And you
- 37:17Speaker 10: can see it on tape. I mean, they look the part.
- 37:20Speaker 10: They look very athletic, very big. I know they had
- 37:23Speaker 10: a big come-from-behind win last week and got a lot
- 37:27Speaker 10: of respect for them. And we're a year away. Next
- 37:31Speaker 10: year that will be us, fortunately, or hopefully I should say,
- 37:33Speaker 10: because we're sophomore-laden and underclass, so we're a year away
- 37:37Speaker 10: from them. I told our guys this is probably going
- 37:41Speaker 10: to be absolutely the best team we've played all year,
- 37:44Speaker 10: and it's going to prepare us certainly for that next
- 37:48Speaker 10: week when we play Pflugerville, and that will be on
- 37:51Speaker 10: a Thursday night. So we're kind of hoping the whole
- 37:55Speaker 10: schedule that we're on will kind of help us out
- 37:57Speaker 10: in the end, but nothing but respect for it. um,
- 38:00Speaker 10: Brian Rudder and what they've done and the season they're having. And, uh, they, they,
- 38:05Speaker 10: they look really, really good on tape. They've got a
- 38:07Speaker 10: lot of size, a lot of speed and, um, you know,
- 38:10Speaker 10: shoot to come back from, I guess it was 24
- 38:12Speaker 10: to six down and come back and win a rival game.
- 38:16Speaker 10: That says a lot about the job they're doing over there.
- 38:18Speaker 10: So a lot of respect for them.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 38:20Speaker 16: Uh, and looking ahead to district play in a couple
- 38:23Speaker 16: of weeks, realignment, happened back in February, so we're in
- 38:27Speaker 16: the first year of this new district. But for your Wildcats,
- 38:31Speaker 16: it's a lot of familiar teams. The only real difference,
- 38:35Speaker 16: or two real differences, are going from an eight-team district
- 38:38Speaker 16: last year to a six-team district this year. And the
- 38:42Speaker 16: only new team that I believe wasn't in your district
- 38:45Speaker 16: is the Liberal Arts and Science Academy of Austin. So
- 38:48Speaker 16: how big of an advantage is it for you in
- 38:50Speaker 16: your second year as a head coach to having almost
- 38:53Speaker 16: the exact same district opponents despite realignment.
- 38:58Speaker 10: Yeah, we're really fortunate. I mean, we really are in that.
- 39:03Speaker 10: We played Pflugerville before. Obviously, it's a different team. Every
- 39:07Speaker 10: team is different. I think they've had the same coaching
- 39:09Speaker 10: staff there for a while, so you're kind of familiar
- 39:12Speaker 10: with what they want to do offensively and defensively and
- 39:14Speaker 10: in the kicking game. Same for Bastrop. I mean, obviously
- 39:17Speaker 10: they won the district last year and did a really
- 39:20Speaker 10: good job over there, but there's some familiarity there. And
- 39:23Speaker 10: so that part is good. And then, again, not having
- 39:26Speaker 10: to travel very far. And then, you know, just 16
- 39:29Speaker 10: district versus 18. district, it makes it, you know, a
- 39:32Speaker 10: little bit easier as far as making the playoffs. Because it's,
- 39:35Speaker 10: you know, I feel like Pflugerville and Bastrop will be
- 39:39Speaker 10: the top two teams to beat. And then after that,
- 39:41Speaker 10: you know, everybody's fighting for number three and number four.
- 39:44Speaker 10: And so, you know, we plan on being in the playoffs.
- 39:48Speaker 10: We plan on... Growing this program, when I took it,
- 39:52Speaker 10: pretty much said it's a total rebuild, and it has been.
- 39:57Speaker 10: We're still in the infant stages of it, but we've
- 40:00Speaker 10: got a new 70-yard climate-controlled indoor facility with a 5,000-square-foot
- 40:07Speaker 10: weight room, renovating our press box, and it's going to
- 40:10Speaker 10: be immaculate. It really is. It's pretty much the whole thing.
- 40:13Speaker 10: We doubled, if not tripled, the size of our old
- 40:16Speaker 10: press box and the new scoreboard. And so a lot
- 40:20Speaker 10: of really good things going on with Bonds here in Elgin.
- 40:23Speaker 10: The community's invested in the program, not only invested in athletics,
- 40:27Speaker 10: but in fine arts and different academic programs. And so
- 40:31Speaker 10: I'm really excited about that, you know, the vision that
- 40:35Speaker 10: we have going forward as far as providing students you know,
- 40:38Speaker 10: choices and innovative opportunities for our students to learn and
- 40:42Speaker 10: just being really excited about the growth here in Elgin.
- 40:46Speaker 10: It's no longer a small town that's growing. And shoot,
- 40:49Speaker 10: in two years, you know, we're probably going to be
- 40:51Speaker 10: 5A Division I, so we've got a couple– we've got
- 40:54Speaker 10: a two-year window here to get this program right. And
- 40:57Speaker 10: so that's our focus really is long-term, having a vision,
- 41:01Speaker 10: building something that's sustainable. and something that's competitive and excited
- 41:07Speaker 10: about where we're going as a district.
- 41:09Speaker 16: All right, Coach, well, I appreciate your time today, and
- 41:11Speaker 16: good luck the rest of this season.
- 41:13Speaker 10: All right, appreciate it, and go Wildcats.
- 41:15Speaker 16: The High School Report is brought to you by Gilmore

- 41:30Speaker 11: Oops.
- 41:31Speaker 1: It's a tragic ending, but it happens. And you, as
- 41:34Speaker 1: a human, are on cleanup duty.
- 41:35Speaker 5: This summer, bring your ride to Club Car Wash.

- 42:37Speaker 1: Hey, our high school report with Caleb every Tuesday and Thursday.
- 42:42Speaker 1: He will be back day after tomorrow. Don't you worry.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Coming up, we're going to hear from Mike Elko. As
- 42:52Speaker 1: I mentioned earlier, we're going to go back in the
- 42:54Speaker 1: time capsule a few years and discuss some things. Tomorrow,
- 43:03Speaker 1: we're going to hear from Lane Kiffin, the LSU coach.
- 43:07Speaker 1: I don't know, it still sounds a little weird to
- 43:10Speaker 1: say that, Lane Kiffin, the LSU coach. Yeah, I know.
- 43:16Speaker 1: Ole Miss put an end to all of that on Saturday.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Scott Clendenda will be with us, and Mallory is also
- 43:27Speaker 1: scheduled to be with us again tomorrow evening. So we've
- 43:30Speaker 1: got that going on for us, which is nice. And
- 43:36Speaker 1: we've got Astros baseball tonight, a little later, from the
- 43:39Speaker 1: left coast. And if we're all lucky, Seattle will continue
- 43:46Speaker 1: to put a beat down on Houston like they have
- 43:49Speaker 1: all year long. They've won 9 out of 11. We're
- 43:52Speaker 1: expecting 10 out of 12 tonight, 11 out of 13 tomorrow.
- 43:57Speaker 1: And then we'll just be counting down to Ranger playoff action.
- 44:04Speaker 1: The Astros Report is brought to you by Oscar &
- 44:08Speaker 1: Sons and Citizens State Bank.

- 44:47Speaker 24: to make a push for the playoffs. Details are up next.
- 44:51Speaker 25: Moms and dads in the trenches, you got this. Your
- 44:55Speaker 25: next challenge, installing the car seat. You'll use strategy, skill,
- 44:59Speaker 25: and a whole lot of patience to buckle your child
- 45:02Speaker 25: in safely. From rear-facing to forward to booster seat and

- 45:22Speaker 24: The Houston Astros are getting set for a six-game road
- 45:24Speaker 24: trip to cap off the regular season, starting with a
- 45:27Speaker 24: two-game series that begins tonight against the Seattle Mariners. The
- 45:31Speaker 24: Astros were swept in their latest series by the Atlanta Braves,
- 45:35Speaker 24: and they've lost seven of their last ten games. Their
- 45:38Speaker 24: last game was a 4-2 defeat to Atlanta, where Houston
- 45:41Speaker 24: hit two solo home runs.
- 45:44Speaker 1: That's hit pretty well to Wright, sending Hicklin all the
- 45:47Speaker 1: way back. He jumps and it's gone!
- 45:50Speaker 24: Christian Javier is the expected starter for Houston tonight.
- 45:53Speaker 1: He sports a record of.
- 45:54Speaker 24: Two wins and six losses in 16 appearances, along with
- 45:59Speaker 24: a 531 ERA. He'll face off against the Mariners ace
- 46:02Speaker 24: in Logan Gilbert. First pitch for tonight is set for 840,
- 46:06Speaker 24: coverage on the Space City Home Network. With your Houston
- 46:09Speaker 24: Astros report, I'm Adam C.

- 46:38Speaker 1: Member FDIC.
- 46:51Speaker 23: Yeah, that's my old girlfriend.
- 46:56Speaker 13: Saw her when she walked in. Her hair's a little longer.
- 47:02Speaker 14: But she's still looking stronger than sin.
- 47:05Speaker 1: No, I.
- 47:08Speaker 13: Don't care if you buy her a drink, but she's
- 47:13Speaker 13: not the kind of girl you'd think.
- 47:17Speaker 7: Oh, cause back.
- 47:20Speaker 23: We'll be right back.
- 47:45Speaker 1: Thanks for joining us here on a Tuesday edition of
- 47:50Speaker 1: the show. On this date, 19 years ago, this happened.
- 48:02Speaker 5: This article, I don't read it. This was brought to
- 48:05Speaker 5: me by a mother of children. I think this is
- 48:10Speaker 5: worth reading.
- 48:11Speaker 4: Let me tell you what I want to talk about
- 48:12Speaker 4: this article.
- 48:14Speaker 5: Three-fourths of this is inaccurate.
- 48:16Speaker 4: It's fiction.
- 48:18Speaker 5: And this article embarrasses me to be involved with athletics tremendously.
- 48:28Speaker 4: And that article.
- 48:31Speaker 5: Had to have been written by a person that doesn't
- 48:32Speaker 5: have a child and has never had a child that's
- 48:39Speaker 5: had their heart broken and come home upset. and had
- 48:45Speaker 5: to deal with the child when he is upset and
- 48:50Speaker 5: kick a person when he's down. Here's all that kid did.
- 48:56Speaker 5: He goes to class. He's respectful to the media. He's
- 49:01Speaker 5: respectful to the public. And he's a good kid. And
- 49:05Speaker 5: he's not a professional athlete. And he doesn't deserve to
- 49:08Speaker 5: be kicked.
- 49:08Speaker 20: When he's down.
- 49:12Speaker 4: If you have a child someday... You'll understand how it feels.
- 49:16Speaker 5: But you obviously don't have a child.
- 49:18Speaker 7: I do.
- 49:19Speaker 4: If your child goes down the street and somebody makes
- 49:22Speaker 4: fun of him.
- 49:23Speaker 5: Because he dropped a pass in a pickup.
- 49:25Speaker 4: Game or says he's fat and he comes home crying
- 49:30Speaker 4: to his mom, you'd understand. But you haven't had that.
- 49:37Speaker 5: But someday you will.
- 49:38Speaker 4: And when your child comes home, you'll understand.
- 49:42Speaker 5: If you want to go after an athlete, one of
- 49:44Speaker 5: my athletes, you go after one that.
- 49:47Speaker 4: Doesn't do the right things.
- 49:49Speaker 5: You don't downgrade him because he does everything right and
- 49:52Speaker 5: may not play as well on Saturday.
- 49:54Speaker 4: And you let us make that decision.
- 49:57Speaker 10: That's why I.
- 49:57Speaker 4: Don't read the newspaper. Because it's garbage. And the editor
- 50:01Speaker 4: that let it come out is garbage.
- 50:05Speaker 5: Attacking an amateur athlete for doing everything right. And then
- 50:12Speaker 5: you want to write articles about guys that don't do
- 50:14Speaker 5: things right and downgrade them, the ones that do make plays.
- 50:17Speaker 4: Are you kidding me? Where are we at in society today?
- 50:22Speaker 4: Come after me. I'm a man. I'm 40. I'm not
- 50:26Speaker 4: a kid. Write something about me or our coaches.
- 50:32Speaker 5: Go write about a kid that does everything right, that's
- 50:35Speaker 5: hearts broken, and then say that the coaches said he
- 50:38Speaker 5: was scared.
- 50:39Speaker 4: That ain't true. And then to.
- 50:43Speaker 5: Say that we made that decision because Donovan Woods, because
- 50:46Speaker 5: he threatened to transfer, that's not true.
- 50:50Speaker 4: So get your facts straight. And I hope.
- 50:53Speaker 5: Someday you have a child and somebody downgrades him and
- 50:57Speaker 5: belittles him and you have to look him in the
- 50:59Speaker 5: eye and say, you know what, it's okay.
- 51:01Speaker 4: They're supposed to be mature adults, but they're really not.
- 51:05Speaker 4: Who's the kid here? Who's the kid here?
- 51:08Speaker 5: Are you kidding me? That's all I got to say.
- 51:11Speaker 4: Makes me want to puke.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Man, that just gets better with time, doesn't it? The
- 51:20Speaker 1: player was Bobby Reed who said and Gundy was supposed
- 51:27Speaker 1: to be defending him. Reed later said it basically ended
- 51:32Speaker 1: my life. He transferred out of the program. But At
- 51:40Speaker 1: the time of the rant, Gundy's record was 13-15. Listen
- 51:45Speaker 1: to me. He was 13-15 at Oklahoma State. Post-rant, 94-35. So,
- 51:48Speaker 1: was it the rant? I don't know.
- 52:11Speaker 3: I mean, I.
- 52:15Speaker 1: Don't know. But I'm telling you, it was one of
- 52:22Speaker 1: the best. I mean, when you start thinking about it,
- 52:27Speaker 1: you get the Allen Iverson practice. Practice? You know, I
- 52:38Speaker 1: kind of throw in Mike Leach's Fat Little Girlfriends. After
- 52:44Speaker 1: A & M went to Lubbock and whomped on Texas Tech.
- 52:49Speaker 1: That didn't happen very often, by the way. A &
- 52:51Speaker 1: M whomping on Texas Tech when Mike Leach was the coach.
- 52:56Speaker 10: And I.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Had this conversation with a friend of mine not too
- 53:01Speaker 1: long ago. And I said, that fat little girlfriend's rant
- 53:09Speaker 1: was an answer... To my question. So I'm very proud
- 53:15Speaker 1: of that. And he goes, no way. I said, yeah, way.
- 53:20Speaker 1: That fat little girlfriend rant came as part of an
- 53:26Speaker 1: answer to my question post-game in Lubbock after the Aggies
- 53:32Speaker 1: had just destroyed Texas Tech. And I'm very proud of that.
- 53:42Speaker 1: I still have that somewhere. I should have put all
- 53:45Speaker 1: the great sports rants together. But those are the three
- 53:52Speaker 1: that come to mind personally. That and.
- 54:04Speaker 10: Playoffs?
- 54:06Speaker 1: Playoffs? That's got to be up there too, right? Who
- 54:11Speaker 1: was that? What coach was that? Jim Mora. Yeah. I
- 54:14Speaker 1: literally just had it pulled up.
- 54:15Speaker 5: Jim.
- 54:17Speaker 9: Mora.
- 54:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Jim Mora.
- 54:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 54:19Speaker 1: Jim Mora.
- 54:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 54:20Speaker 10: Yeah. Yeah.
- 54:22Speaker 1: So that one has to be right there. Playoffs? That
- 54:29Speaker 1: was awesome. Was that when he was with the Saints?
- 54:32Speaker 2: Yes.
- 54:34Speaker 22: That was whenever he was with the Colts after they
- 54:37Speaker 22: lost 40-21 against San Francisco and dropped.
- 54:41Speaker 1: A 4-6 record. Okay. That's awesome. You know, all of
- 54:50Speaker 1: that stuff didn't spread before the social media and the ESPN.
- 54:59Speaker 1: I blame ESPN for a lot of stuff, and they're
- 55:03Speaker 1: to blame for a lot of what's wrong with our
- 55:05Speaker 1: country today. But also we get, you know, stuff like
- 55:11Speaker 1: that over and over and over again, videoed for posterity.
- 55:18Speaker 1: Marblecraft has been locally owned and operated in our community
- 55:22Speaker 1: for well over 25 years. Joe and the staff every

- 56:01Speaker 1: stressful as you think it is. I'm speaking from experience.
- 56:05Speaker 1: They'll come out, give you an estimate, and then they
- 56:08Speaker 1: do all the work. Start to finish. Tear down and

- 56:23Speaker 7: This is C & J Barbecue.
- 56:26Speaker 5: Okay, so for the ad, I'm thinking fog machines, laser lights,
- 56:30Speaker 5: maybe a.
- 56:30Speaker 1: Do kids eat free?
- 56:32Speaker 10: Uh, yes.
- 56:33Speaker 1: Like, actually free? Yes, every Wednesday night.
- 56:35Speaker 4: So I can get free barbecue?
- 56:37Speaker 1: That's how kids eat free works, buddy.
- 56:39Speaker 7: Wednesday's my favorite day now!
- 56:42Speaker 1: See?
- 56:42Speaker 24: No fog machine needed.
- 56:43Speaker 3: Oh, man.
- 56:44Speaker 7: Kids eat free every Wednesday night at C & J Barbecue.
- 56:47Speaker 7: Great food, happy kids, C & J Barbecue. Because dinner
- 56:51Speaker 7: shouldn't be another battle.
