- 0:18Speaker 1: Welcome to episode 29 of In Moderation Valve.
- 0:21Speaker 1: We're getting up there.
- 0:22Speaker 1: We're almost at 30,.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Liam, you're going to have to change your numbering system.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I don't.
- 0:27Speaker 2: I've never even said what it was anyway.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I've always just said a random number.
- 0:31Speaker 2: It's going to continue to be a random number until always.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Until you finally get it right.
- 0:35Speaker 1: No, I'm never going to get it right.
- 0:36Speaker 1: And then hell freezes over.
- 0:38Speaker 2: It's just going to get progressively more difficult to remember Most people just going to get progressively more difficult to remember most people get up to the hundreds before they forget.
- 0:44Speaker 2: And then I'm in like episode four.
- 0:46Speaker 1: So anyway, go ahead.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Uh, so this week's guest is kind of interesting because you know full disclosure me and liam like our full disclosures there.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Um, her pr agent reached out to us and we get pr agents emailing us every so often and I go through and I vet their channels and whatever.
- 1:05Speaker 1: By the way, liam, why don't we have a fancy schmancy PR agent Money?
- 1:11Speaker 2: Money is the answer.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Any PR agents?
- 1:14Speaker 1: out there want to work for Banana Laffy Taffy.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Absolutely free.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Then come on board.
- 1:21Speaker 1: So a PR agent reached out to us and I checked out her channel and I was like you know what this is.
- 1:27Speaker 1: This is pretty good, let's bring her on.
- 1:29Speaker 1: It's nice to have somebody outside of our usual circle, get some new uh new blood in here.
- 1:35Speaker 1: But, um, her name is nikki and it was very important that we bring her on because, see, liam and I, we have this audience that we just don't know anything about.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Um, we are a part of a certain demographic and we can't speak on that, and so, nikki, tell us what it's like to not have facial hair.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I was going with, like I was like are we going to shorter?
- 2:02Speaker 2: Are we going with like I don't know, like long well, you have long hair.
- 2:07Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't know, I guess yeah I mean technically, I have facial hair, I have eyebrows, right, so oh, what defines facial hair?
- 2:14Speaker 2: like people say, I don't have facial hair either.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I have a soul patch, which is obviously the best facial hair duh I was watching your content, liam, I was like damn, that thing is prominent, that is out there.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Listen, if I could dye it, I would too.
- 2:29Speaker 2: I'd make it like red or something.
- 2:31Speaker 3: You can dye it.
- 2:32Speaker 3: That would be hilarious.
- 2:33Speaker 3: One day I will.
- 2:34Speaker 2: One day I will I don't know when I'll do it sometime.
- 2:37Speaker 2: That's the point, okay.
- 2:38Speaker 1: You dye yours, I'll die mine.
- 2:40Speaker 1: You got a lot more work.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Okay, Everybody listening to Patreon.
- 2:44Speaker 1: You get us to episode 100 or something, and we'll do this.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Yeah, pay us, so we can then pay a PR person.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Okay, okay, nikki, tell us all about yourself, because we absolutely know nothing about you.
- 3:03Speaker 3: I lift weights, I pick them up and I put them down excellent okay podcast over.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Can I just say that was planet.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Fitness commercials were the best those are the best like I pick things up.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I might put them down like it was so good and this is our stretching room, just shoves them out the door.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Those I mean a 10 out of 10.
- 3:20Speaker 2: For those I give 100%.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Anyway, yep, I eat a lot of food.
- 3:26Speaker 3: I love macronutrients because it's backed by science.
- 3:29Speaker 3: I lift weights, I strength train and I believe in empowering tons and tons of women worldwide to do the same thing, because I think that doing those things helps to make them more healthier, stronger and more confident in themselves.
- 3:42Speaker 3: So it's a little bit about me.
- 3:45Speaker 1: That's awesome, and empowering women is kind of why I really wanted to bring you on here, because we do have a demographic that Liam and I we're not part of, and the majority of our listeners are actually women.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Is that true?
- 4:00Speaker 2: That's crazy considering.
- 4:02Speaker 2: I didn't know what a woman was till I was 10 years old.
- 4:04Speaker 2: It's weird.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Well, it's interesting.
- 4:06Speaker 3: It's awesome, though I mean, you guys are hilarious so far.
- 4:09Speaker 3: I'm just meeting you guys in the last 15 minutes I had no idea what I was walking into, but you guys are a vibe.
- 4:15Speaker 2: That's the way we like things.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Is, you have no idea, completely surprised?
- 4:21Speaker 1: I don't even know where to go from there.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Let's start with how did you personally get into lifting?
- 4:29Speaker 3: How did I personally get into lifting?
- 4:32Speaker 3: I mean, there's a saying that breakups make body odors.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Me too.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Yeah, totally.
- 4:39Speaker 3: So I was engaged about 10 years ago and called off that engagement and best thing I ever did and decided to do things for myself and think for myself and act for myself and started lifting.
- 4:54Speaker 3: And there we got into the world of bodybuilding.
- 4:58Speaker 3: I competed three times.
- 5:00Speaker 3: I went pro in my first show but it was like a very small federation.
- 5:04Speaker 3: And then I went pro in my second show and it was a bigger federation called the OCB.
- 5:09Speaker 3: So I'm all natural I've had to be polygraphed.
- 5:11Speaker 3: I had to pee in a cup after I won.
- 5:13Speaker 3: I don't take steroids.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Many people do.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Many people blast me on social media saying that I do.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Oh, of course.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Yeah, the trolls out there, the keyboard usually the faceless ones.
- 5:26Speaker 3: Yeah, Faceless ones are the ones where you click into their Instagram profiles and, uh, it's like they're a picture of them from I don't know.
- 5:35Speaker 3: It's weird stuff.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 5:36Speaker 3: So got, uh, competed, went to the pro status and then beat, went and competed with the pros in the Yorton Cup for the OCB and then won that, and then I was like you know what I'm deucing out?
- 5:49Speaker 3: It was an extreme lifestyle that I just couldn't get down with.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Yeah, and let me say even for someone like myself.
- 5:57Speaker 2: I enjoyed the sport of body sport, the sport of bodybuilding.
- 6:00Speaker 2: It's weird, man.
- 6:02Speaker 2: It's a strange space where they're like hey, you know how like we need body fat, let's get rid of as much as we physically possibly can while still technically being alive.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Like we would die 100 if we stayed there.
- 6:14Speaker 2: But like let's dip into that for like a day and it's and, and let's get oiled up and get on stage again.
- 6:21Speaker 3: I like bodybuilding don't get me wrong.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I enjoy it, but it's like, hey, why don't you put on as much fake bronzer as ever has been put on before 1960?
- 6:29Speaker 2: On all people on me just right now, and let's see how this goes.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Totally, say no more and then be judged on your body for five minutes.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Yeah, people will stare at me as closely as possible and judge every aspect of my body.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Where do I sign up?
- 6:47Speaker 3: It's pretty mentally, honestly like it's so weird.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it is.
- 6:53Speaker 3: It's an interesting sport.
- 6:54Speaker 3: I will say that I learned a lot of discipline from it.
- 6:57Speaker 3: However, the whole thing of what you just explained is not worth it.
- 7:02Speaker 3: You're doing it for literally six, seven months and then all of a sudden, 24 hours.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Basically your hard work goes out the door Because as soon as you're done competing, you want to eat all the things, because you just restricted yourself for so long and you basically gained back like 15 pounds.
- 7:19Speaker 3: I gained back 25 pounds in one month after my competition.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Wow, what did you go to?
- 7:24Speaker 2: What did you go to after?
- 7:24Speaker 2: Your body like 15 pounds.
- 7:24Speaker 2: I gained back 25 pounds in one month after my competition.
- 7:25Speaker 2: So, yeah, what was your?
- 7:25Speaker 2: What did you go to?
- 7:25Speaker 2: What did you go to after?
- 7:27Speaker 2: You're like, I'm going to domino's and every cinnastick in that place is going down the hatch.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Those were my jams cinnasticks your mind was shake shack yeah, that's the fries.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Oh, I'm you.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Fries are one of the best things on this planet.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Heck yeah.
- 7:44Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 7:44Speaker 1: I'm picturing Liam just loading up like a Pringles can with Oreos and just shooting them down Oreos.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I feel like I could.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 7:52Speaker 2: There's something about like salty snacks that you can go overboard easier.
- 7:56Speaker 2: For me, right Like the sweet stuff.
- 7:57Speaker 2: That's true, eventually, the sweet is like okay, I'm over the sweet thing.
- 8:00Speaker 1: But like salty fries.
- 8:01Speaker 1: But, liam, you get addicted to sugar.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Come on, I know the addicted to sugar thing.
- 8:05Speaker 1: You can't be tired of sugar.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I would love someone to All in moderation right.
- 8:10Speaker 2: If someone was actually addicted to sugar, could you imagine?
- 8:12Speaker 2: You go to the grocery store, you walk down there oh, let me pick up and there's just like a guy with a spoon his mouth like I can't stop.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Please someone help me.
- 8:25Speaker 2: I have never seen that and I don't think I ever will, but somehow we're all completely addicted to sugar because of a study in rats like a decade ago or something.
- 8:32Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Yeah, type of correlation to like matching cocaine or the effects of cocaine on the brain or something like that yeah, it's always.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I'm gonna tell you like, when it comes to like drugs and like in rats and stuff like that, it's, it's crazy.
- 8:46Speaker 2: They're like oh, they like heroin, they like sugar more than heroin.
- 8:49Speaker 2: It's like they're locking these people like these not people, these are these rats into like there's nothing with them.
- 8:55Speaker 2: They have no rat friends.
- 8:56Speaker 2: There's no rat buddies, there's nothing with them, and they're just bored.
- 8:59Speaker 2: They'll just like eat whatever you put in front of them.
- 9:00Speaker 2: So, yeah, they're just gonna be like well, get me the fuck out of here.
- 9:03Speaker 2: I got nothing else to do, I'm just gonna eat pounds of sugar.
- 9:05Speaker 2: That's my, that's my rant on that, yeah yeah, that's.
- 9:10Speaker 1: That pretty much sums up the study.
- 9:12Speaker 1: So yeah, you're not addicted to sugar, but yeah, sugar makes things taste good, no shit.
- 9:15Speaker 2: So that's why yeah, after if I did bodybuilding, yeah, I would be like I think.
- 9:19Speaker 2: I think I would go with fries and burgers.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Good, milkshake and fries, that's the way to go.
- 9:24Speaker 2: You take the fries, you put them in the milkshake and that way you get them both.
- 9:27Speaker 2: It's a salty and a sweet.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like the Wendy's.
- 9:29Speaker 3: The Wendy's milkshakes and the fries are the best.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Game changer.
- 9:33Speaker 1: See, I'm a fish and chips guy.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I would just have a stack of fish this high, a stack of fries this high.
- 9:39Speaker 2: No fries this high.
- 9:41Speaker 1: No, yeah, I'm with you on this.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Yeah, the fried fish?
- 9:43Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 9:45Speaker 3: It's like I'm clapping.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Yeah well, you probably like bananas.
- 9:46Speaker 3: That must be a Canada thing.
- 9:48Speaker 3: A Canada thing I think well, it's a Britain thing because they're not allowed to have seasoning.
- 9:53Speaker 2: England doesn't allow to have any food that tastes good, so they just like fry it to make it palatable.
- 10:04Speaker 1: See, I'm half Canadian, half British, so the British side wants the fish and chips, the Canadian side wants some poutine, so you get fish and poutine.
- 10:12Speaker 2: I'm saying no to all that.
- 10:13Speaker 2: So anyway, nikki, I'm kind of curious because it always whenever I talk with women, I'm curious what you see in the barriers for women into into lifting weights and get it.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Because you know we always see the thing like, oh, I don't want to get bulky, and I'm always just like, oh, boy that was exactly so I'm sure that's one, but give us, like you know, give us a little rundown of that sort of genre the first thing that popped into my head was I don't want to get too bulky.
- 10:40Speaker 3: And it's hilarious.
- 10:41Speaker 3: There's's a clip on my Instagram, there's a reel where I made of me like, say, like talking to women that think they're going to get too bulky, and it's like I'm talking to a wall because like it's not possible for that to happen in, in women at least, we don't have, unless we're taking, you know, the steroids and stuff.
- 10:57Speaker 3: But like women don't have as much testosterone as women as men do, so we're not going to get as big and bulky as men do.
- 11:04Speaker 3: And then there's another one where they think that carbs make them fat.
- 11:08Speaker 3: It just like blows my mind.
- 11:12Speaker 3: I hate that one because carbs are so good, and especially if people are going for the goal of wanting to be more toned and wanting to build more muscle, they have to incorporate eating carbs, because carbs give them that strength inside of the gym and every carb that you eat turns into glycogen and then glycogen just holds on to more water weight.
- 11:29Speaker 3: So that's what they're seeing on the scale, but it's not actually fat.
- 11:32Speaker 3: So we need to make like hashtag carbs.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Make carbs great again, because that needs to happen.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Do you think?
- 11:39Speaker 2: it's more.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Do you find that's more prominent with women?
- 11:41Speaker 2: Because I think the carbs make you fat is sort of a general thing, Like it's.
- 11:45Speaker 2: We're moving that because we have to either demonize one fats or carbs, Like that's it.
- 11:48Speaker 2: We have to have a boogeyman and we're more in the stage of fats are the most amazing thing ever and carbs now will give you all the cancers.
- 11:55Speaker 2: But what you know, is it more common with women that you see that they think carbs are going to make them fat?
- 12:00Speaker 3: women that you see that they think carbs are going to make them fat.
- 12:03Speaker 3: I mean, I talk to women all day long, so that's just my.
- 12:06Speaker 3: I feel like that's what they say all of the time.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Then they come into our community and they're talking about that.
- 12:09Speaker 2: I think it's women also.
- 12:10Speaker 2: You know, studies have shown they're more likely to have disordered eating patterns.
- 12:14Speaker 2: At least women are what?
- 12:15Speaker 2: Three times or something more likely to have eating disorders.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I think that's a lot of the pressure that's put on them.
- 12:19Speaker 2: So they probably just face more pressure from kind of the quote unquote, diet culture or whatever you want to say.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Oh a hundred percent the marketing that they grew up with Jenny Craig, weight Watchers, like all of those things.
- 12:31Speaker 3: They just like brain and then the parents that they grew up with.
- 12:34Speaker 3: If their parents were on a diet after diet.
- 12:36Speaker 3: They've been ingrained with these concepts in their brain and these narratives and these stories and it it totally can lead to those avenues of disordered eating or disordered thought processes around it.
- 12:46Speaker 3: So, yeah, it's, but there's the they.
- 12:50Speaker 3: They hear things on social media.
- 12:52Speaker 3: If there are people are saying cars make them fat, then they think it's going to make them fat.
- 12:55Speaker 3: But what I love to do is be like do what evidence do you have to support that?
- 12:58Speaker 3: Because, like, you know what I do, what I like to, like what I coach and be a coach.
- 13:03Speaker 3: I'm like in my profession it's not to make you fat.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Like I would be doing a disservice if I was making somebody fat.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Right, they were coming to me asking for help and then they turned out to be fat.
- 13:13Speaker 1: So like, it's-, you would be the worst coach ever, ever yeah.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Unless you were actually trying to coach them to be fat, which is you're doing a pretty good job, yeah.
- 13:24Speaker 1: So I feel like women are more targeted by that you need to lose fat stuff, and so they're more likely to get or see that carbs make you fat thing, whereas I think men are more targeted by the uh, the toxic masculine.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Gotta go carnivore, got to eat meat stuff.
- 14:15Speaker 1: A lot of men avoid carbs, but it's not because of carbs making you fat.
- 14:22Speaker 3: It's because carbs are bad, because they're not meat.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know.
- 14:25Speaker 3: There's a ton of shit out there that says all the things you just got to keep it back to the basics.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I just wanted to go back to the thing I see, yes is um, um, weightlifting makes you bulky, which is it's, it's, it's, it's hilarious because there's, like there's so many men that are trying to get bulky and failing, like it's just it's difficult for them, it's really not gonna happen for you.
- 14:46Speaker 2: And the thing is like you do see, like the uh, like kind of open bodybuilding competitions where women do take excessive amounts of exogenous hormones, you know, testosterone, all that and they can get bulky.
- 14:57Speaker 2: And then women see that and are like, oh, I'll end up like that if I pick up this pink dumbbell.
- 15:01Speaker 2: And it's like you know, weightlifting is so great for anybody, like you know strength training, especially as you get older, we see more and more how important it is.
- 15:10Speaker 2: So, don't worry about that, Like it's just such a silly thing to worry about.
- 15:15Speaker 1: How long did it take you to actually put on a decent amount of muscle?
- 15:20Speaker 3: dude like five, maybe five years yeah, it made it where I wanted to be.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Like I'm nine, ten years into the journey, it didn't happen overnight yeah, a lot of people think it goes on faster than it actually does and that overnight they're suddenly going to become this gigantic, manly looking and I don't even want to say manly looking, because like that's, that's not right either.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Look at the liver king, like it was mr turtle shell.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Oh, I love the.
- 15:51Speaker 2: He said he's terrible, but I love the liver king at least he's entertaining.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Yeah, he's very entertaining, he's very entertaining.
- 15:58Speaker 2: I love to see the mr turtle there, like you see he's just got this.
- 16:02Speaker 2: You know it's like, uh, oh man, like back in the day you go to like the, the.
- 16:06Speaker 2: You know we don't do them anymore, but the freak shows, quote, unquote, that's that that he would be, he would, he would sell out, it would be so good.
- 16:12Speaker 2: So what do you like?
- 16:14Speaker 2: I'm kind of, what would you recommend for, uh, women?
- 16:18Speaker 2: Kind of, just like they're interested, right, okay, so they don't really know what they're doing.
- 16:22Speaker 2: They they're interested in lifting some weights.
- 16:24Speaker 2: You know where did they start?
- 16:27Speaker 2: Like what's a good place to start?
- 16:29Speaker 3: Well, they want to start lifting weights.
- 16:31Speaker 3: What I would say is to get them out of the cardio room and off of the treadmills, and off the ellipticals and the stepmaster.
- 16:39Speaker 3: Wait, hold on.
- 16:46Speaker 3: No, no, no, because cardio burns more fat.
- 16:48Speaker 2: So they have to do cardio.
- 16:48Speaker 2: So that's so, you know, obviously debunked immediately.
- 16:50Speaker 3: I know I'm allowing you to go forward with this thought process.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Yeah, the more muscle you have to your body, it increases your BMI or your BMR, naturally.
- 17:00Speaker 2: I mean it does increase your BM it does increase your BMI.
- 17:05Speaker 3: Technically I'm obese, so when I go into a doctor's office that shit is so whack.
- 17:09Speaker 3: I mean it does increase your bmi and your bm.
- 17:11Speaker 2: I increase all the b's, don't worry about.
- 17:14Speaker 2: So what we're talking about here is your bmr, so basically calories you burn during the day, just existing and, and you know, lean tissue.
- 17:23Speaker 2: So muscle is very active, so it's going to require you to eat more calories to fuel it.
- 17:28Speaker 2: So building muscle is a good idea if you're trying to lose some fat.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Exactly, amen, thank you, you just said it perfectly.
- 17:36Speaker 3: And then to go back to the strength training thing, if you want to go strength train, I would say first it's the big fear of getting over the thought process that when you walk into the weight room, everybody is looking at you Like there's every woman is so afraid to walk in there and they have this thought process that that people are watching how they're working out or watching how they're doing their form or whatever.
- 17:58Speaker 3: They're just nervous to go do that, to walk into the weight room.
- 18:01Speaker 3: So I would say definitely like nobody.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Nobody's concerned about what you're doing, they're only concerned about how they look and what they're doing, um.
- 18:09Speaker 3: And then the second thing is I would say is uh, if you've never lifted a weight before, definitely don't go in and go ham like.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Have a plan, have a plan to follow, um, because it could first of all I'm thinking about like injuries and then it can just be hard on the body and all that stuff.
- 18:28Speaker 3: So you got to take it light and easy to begin with.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Maybe it's like a couple of days in your first week or two weeks, um, and you're getting comfortable with following the plan and doing that.
- 18:36Speaker 3: And I would say study, exercise video so that you can feel more confident.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Do you have any outlets on that that you recommend Enjoy just something for people to go look towards, anything.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Totally as far as creating a plan.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Yeah, you can go to Warrior Babe.
- 18:49Speaker 3: You can check out warriorbabecom.
- 18:50Speaker 2: There you go.
- 18:50Speaker 2: You can shake with your own stuff.
- 18:51Speaker 2: That's what I'm talking about.
- 18:53Speaker 3: There you go there we go yeah, you can definitely do that.
- 18:57Speaker 3: If you don't want to think about putting together a plan, you can support you in doing that.
- 19:06Speaker 3: We have a team of 66 coaches, so they all work individually with their own clients and they will make the plan for you and they'll guide you along the way so that you feel confident with the plan to go after.
- 19:12Speaker 3: But yeah, if you want to start strength training, I would say, just start trying it and start doing it and have the mentors, have the people to support you along the way.
- 19:21Speaker 2: And I think it's.
- 19:22Speaker 2: I think it's tough people in general I mean for women for sure but all people is just like you want to go all in or not, and that's kind of getting away.
- 19:32Speaker 2: We talk about this a lot on this podcast getting away from the all or nothing mentality.
- 19:34Speaker 2: So like you're going to go and I'm going to do an hour of weightlifting, you don't need to do that, there's no.
- 19:38Speaker 2: When you're starting off, you'll gain muscle from looking at weights.
- 19:40Speaker 2: So you just need to get in there and do and start with something.
- 19:45Speaker 2: You know.
- 19:45Speaker 2: 10 minutes, 15 minutes is fine.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Hey, you usually do 30 minutes on the elliptical.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Make it 15, do 15 minutes of weightlifting, just balance it out.
- 19:55Speaker 2: You know you don't have to.
- 19:56Speaker 2: Like she said, you don't have to go crazy.
- 19:57Speaker 1: A little bit is better than nothing.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm thinking about when I first started my journey, what I did.
- 20:01Speaker 3: It's like I didn't know what to do.
- 20:03Speaker 3: I was spending so much time on Pinterest looking at like back workouts and trying to follow like those types of things, and until I wasn't seeing the type of results that I wanted, because I didn't feel like I was doing it the right way, I finally hired somebody that knew what to do and then they put together the plan for me, they put together the guidance, so I didn't have to think about it and waste more time.
- 20:23Speaker 3: I wanted to get to my results faster.
- 20:25Speaker 3: So, um and yeah, and then I.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Then I found out I was doing things wrong.
- 20:29Speaker 3: To what your point was like you don't have to spend an hour inside the gym.
- 20:32Speaker 3: My workouts were like 40, 45 minutes max.
- 20:35Speaker 3: Um, when I first started, when we got into the world of bodybuilding which is stupid, ridiculous I was inside the gym fucking seven days a week.
- 20:43Speaker 2: Uh, doing cardio for two, three hours a day my first meal of tuna fish and rice in my container.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Let me just pop that up don't, you want any seasoning.
- 20:52Speaker 2: What's seasoning?
- 20:53Speaker 3: I don't understand b eat spoon with ma I used to travel with my food on the plane and had to put it in a plastic bag and eat fish and tilapia on a plane.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Like who does that?
- 21:05Speaker 2: that's, yeah, I mean when you look at when let's say okay, listen in the venn diagram the venn diagram I think that's right where there's the circles you got like disordered eating and you got bodybuilding.
- 21:14Speaker 2: There's a big overlap there.
- 21:16Speaker 2: I'm telling you what those circles come together hard non-overlap.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Yeah, like, if you just asked a competitive bodybuilder like a disorder, eating disorder questionnaire, there would be a lot of fucking yeses.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I'm telling you that, like, how often do you think about your diet?
- 21:29Speaker 2: You know, like all the you know, do you eat tilapia on a plane out of a bag?
- 21:33Speaker 2: Yes, of course I do other people, don't you know?
- 21:39Speaker 3: yeah, facts, yeah, 100.
- 21:41Speaker 3: I had a pot.
- 21:42Speaker 3: I made a podcast of how I was hospitalized because of the restrictive eating.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Oh man and I think a lot of people see that and then that makes them a little timid about you know into getting into the weightlifting, like that is just it's, it's, it's a sport, it's a, it's a beauty competition.
- 21:59Speaker 2: So I think, and like to your point earlier, it is especially tough for women like you get into like the weightlifting area where it's all dudes that are just sweaty and gross Right and it's they're all just like stringers and like you're and it's to be the only female there, like that's gotta be kind of tough, like I understand that.
- 22:16Speaker 2: But like I'm telling you, the people that I meet at the gym are just like the most nice welcoming.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Um, you know you're gonna get your d-bags, like it's gonna happen.
- 22:25Speaker 2: It's like that's life, that's everywhere you go.
- 22:27Speaker 2: But seriously, people the gym have been just so like hey, you're doing awesome, like just compliments, I anywhere, if I could go anywhere, it just to try and then have to try and receive a couple.
- 22:37Speaker 2: But basically most of the comments I've ever compliments I've ever received, they've been in the gym.
- 22:41Speaker 2: That's where people I find yeah.
- 22:43Speaker 1: And then talking about the people that might be looking at you, chances are they're looking at you to see if you're looking at them because they're nervous that you're looking at them.
- 22:52Speaker 2: It's like two people.
- 22:53Speaker 2: They're like don't look at me.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 22:57Speaker 2: No, let me go hide.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so, and a lot of time they're maybe looking at you because they don't know what they're doing.
- 23:04Speaker 2: So they're trying to figure out like you're doing, how you're doing it, so like I know it's tough.
- 23:08Speaker 1: There's quite a few people come over to me and ask me about the exercise that I'm doing because they were interested about it.
- 23:14Speaker 1: They asked me you know how to do certain things and you can do that.
- 23:19Speaker 1: There's lots of people in the gym.
- 23:20Speaker 1: You can go talk to, ask them questions.
- 23:22Speaker 1: They are happy to help you.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Yeah, totally A hundred percent.
- 23:26Speaker 3: What I would say, though, to that back to that point was with, like, when people are looking at you in the gym, what I did at the beginning if there's anything that wants to help people with that type of mindset I used to walk in with a hat.
- 23:37Speaker 3: I used to just put a hat on and, like, put like, it acted as if it was like my blinders, so I couldn't see anybody around me and I couldn't, like pay attention to anybody that was around me.
- 23:46Speaker 1: I couldn't see that if they can't see me exactly, if they can't see me, I can't leave.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, it works.
- 23:51Speaker 3: It fucking worked.
- 23:52Speaker 3: It was nice.
- 23:53Speaker 3: So people in one.
- 23:55Speaker 2: You always kind of have to find what works for you because, yeah, like everybody is, is so different.
- 24:01Speaker 2: But man, yeah, I'll, I'll tell you just and find, go go to a gym, spend a few minutes and, just you know, find some good music.
- 24:08Speaker 2: I always think good music, or something you enjoy listening to while you're there, is always helpful.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Um, trying new things too as well, like it's always it's about trying new things, Uh, but, like the question I always like to ask for people like yourself who are, like you know, coach who does?
- 24:22Speaker 2: Who does coaching?
- 24:24Speaker 2: You know, what are some things that you have seen from your clients?
- 24:29Speaker 2: What are?
- 24:32Speaker 2: I always forget how I phrase this, Rob, but I'm going to, I'm going to figure it out, it's totally fine.
- 24:36Speaker 2: What are some?
- 24:37Speaker 2: What are some collective things that that all the successful people in your experience too.
- 24:42Speaker 2: So, like you know, I'm sure you've seen there's gotta be trends with people like the people who achieve the things they set out to do have some similar traits Like what are maybe a you know a few traits that you've seen.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a great question.
- 24:54Speaker 3: I love the book Atomic Habits by James Clear, where he talks about the winner's mentality and the loser's mentality, the winner's mentality, the ones that, like literally, these two people have the same goals, they want to achieve the same things.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Right, but it's the um, it's the winners that you know that actually.
- 25:12Speaker 3: So it can't be the goals that are the same thing, right, or it can't be the goals that are the differentiator between the same goals.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Right, the same goal.
- 25:19Speaker 3: So it's the systems.
- 25:20Speaker 3: It's the systems that they put into place and it's it's like drinking their water.
- 25:24Speaker 3: It's the systems that they put into place and it's it's like drinking their water.
- 25:26Speaker 3: It's doing their workout, it's tracking their macros or whatever nutrition plan they're following.
- 25:28Speaker 3: It's consistently doing those things over a period of time and uh and following through on it.
- 25:35Speaker 3: So the biggest thing that's successful people that I see that are successful and are the winners are the consistency and like actually doing, like the thing that they said they're going to do and follow through on it.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Like you know, it could be three months into a program and maybe a person is wondering why, like they, two people start at the same time, right, and they're working with the same coach and one three months in, this person's getting awesome results and they're similar body type like, similar lifestyle, similar, similar, similar, like all of the things, cause there's a vast like.
- 26:07Speaker 3: There's so many different people and so many individual people.
- 26:10Speaker 3: But let's just say that, for the context of the story, there's one person that is a little bit further along with the progress that they're seeing, and the other one's wondering why they're not seeing as much progress.
- 26:20Speaker 3: And when you ask the questions and you dive deeper and you try and you know formulate why one is further ahead than the other.
- 26:27Speaker 3: It's because the other one's been super consistent and they follow through on the plan.
- 26:30Speaker 3: They've done the workouts you know, the five out of five times in a week and if there's been a speed bump along the way, they didn't allow that speed bump to get in their way.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I wanted to get out, because that is what we see so often.
- 26:44Speaker 2: People start off usually pretty well, like when they start something, they're sticking to it for a few days, a week, a couple weeks, whatever it is, but it's always that first call it failure, I guess.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Whatever it is, you call it speed bump, whatever you want to call it that people just like, ah, fuck it, it's always that it's always like yeah, whatever I did, this it's over.
- 27:03Speaker 2: And getting out of that, I find, is one of the most difficult things for people.
- 27:07Speaker 2: And I don't know, I don't have the exact answer, how to get out of that.
- 27:10Speaker 2: But boy, you just have to realize, like one small slip up mistake, whatever isn't going to ruin your whole journey, like it's, it's such it's essentially, essentially meaningless in the context of your whole fitness journey that one mistake it's just, that turns into, you know, the whole week, the whole month or whatever it is.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Well, you know you I don't know if you talked about this on the podcast before, but you talked about it at some point um, how you never worry about any of the mistakes you make because you compare it to the people who had the chance to buy Netflix.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Was it Best Buy?
- 27:47Speaker 2: That's the best.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Best Buy could have bought Netflix not once, but twice, and they turned them down, and so you got to just think about the people who made horrible decisions in life, and then you feel better.
- 27:55Speaker 2: So compare yourself to terrible people and you will feel better.
- 28:03Speaker 1: That is the message of this entire podcast.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Good night everyone.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Have a swell day best bye.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Compare yourself to the worst decisions in human history and you will feel so much better about yourself and your than the poor decision that you made facts.
- 28:16Speaker 3: There was a different put on my story, though.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Today it's along these lines um, it was a quote by michael jordan.
- 28:22Speaker 3: When a child is learning how to walk and falls down 50 times, they never think to themselves.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Maybe this ain't for me I like that just pick it back up.
- 28:31Speaker 2: Thomas edison.
- 28:31Speaker 2: He's like I didn't fail 500 times to make the light bulb.
- 28:34Speaker 2: I just found out 500 ways to not make a light bulb.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Now, thomas edison was a shitty ass person.
- 28:39Speaker 2: He was like he stole everything and he was terrible.
- 28:41Speaker 2: May he rot in his grave.
- 28:42Speaker 2: But like that's a good quote, that's a solid quote.
- 28:45Speaker 2: They can still the bad ones can still have some good ones.
- 28:48Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 28:49Speaker 3: A hundred percent.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Yeah, a hundred percent.
- 28:51Speaker 3: If you experience a failure along the way, just get right back up and continue on failure along the way.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Just get right back up and continue on so I conveniently had this text from a friend this morning damn, I could have bought netflix and I didn't do it.
- 29:07Speaker 2: Why did I not?
- 29:07Speaker 1: that's exactly what this text is.
- 29:09Speaker 1: How did you know?
- 29:11Speaker 1: Um, it's from a female friend of mine.
- 29:14Speaker 1: So I've been lifting weights consistently with a trainer since october.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Barely any noticeable muscle.
- 29:19Speaker 1: My friend, one month doing some stupid beach body instant muscle.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Is this genetics?
- 29:26Speaker 1: This isn't fair this isn't fair I like literally don't know what to say to that like there's, there's a lot that uh could go into that.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Like maybe it, maybe the trainer is just not a good trainer, um first, yeah, first start with maybe fire.
- 29:47Speaker 3: Thank gosh, you fired the trainer I mean, there is that then but I mean, there's definitely a genetic component to it.
- 29:55Speaker 2: There are people that we all hate, these people right.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Okay, we all have those friends.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Like I have a friend from high school who just like, just got jacked from nothing.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Like I hate, I think he's a good person.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Hate him, hate his guts, hate everything about him, cause it's not fair.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Like you look at those people and you're like, why it can be?
- 30:09Speaker 2: Like I'm just, I'm just trying to sympathize with people because we all know that fucking person we'll call him chad chad's a dick chad might be a nice such a dick chad might be a nice person.
- 30:25Speaker 2: We hate chad, we all hate chad because and even chad, like, understands it, like I think they get it.
- 30:31Speaker 3: They're like this is women and their husbands.
- 30:33Speaker 3: They hate when their husbands are able to lose a 10 pounds in like three weeks.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Yeah and it's 100% true.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Because men have a higher like gen on average, men have a higher caloric.
- 30:42Speaker 2: You know requirement right.
- 30:43Speaker 2: So if they cut out, if you both cut out one thing, they're probably gonna lose the males probably gonna lose more weight and that and that fucking sucks like and it's frustrating to see.
- 30:52Speaker 2: We see that and we're like, damn, why can't I have it like that?
- 30:56Speaker 2: But you, at the end of the day, genetics does place just a massive component with it.
- 31:00Speaker 1: And you have to.
- 31:01Speaker 1: It's true that some people have more androgen receptors.
- 31:04Speaker 2: And there's I mean there's definitely that and you have to, and I know it's.
- 31:08Speaker 2: People have heard this fucking countless times, but I'm gonna tell you again because I can.
- 31:11Speaker 2: It's my fucking podcast.
- 31:12Speaker 2: I can do whatever I want with this okay and I can also swear.
- 31:15Speaker 2: To all you people saying I should stop swearing.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I'll do what the fuck I want.
- 31:19Speaker 1: You have fans that tell you to swear more though so yeah, yeah, those are my fucking buddies right there.
- 31:25Speaker 2: I get that all the time it'll ever stop.
- 31:27Speaker 3: I'm not, so I can do.
- 31:28Speaker 2: What I want, and what I want to do is tell you to goddamn compare yourself to you, because I know we've all heard that, but, man, you compare yourself to other people.
- 31:35Speaker 2: You're just it's never.
- 31:36Speaker 2: It's never good, it's never good.
- 31:38Speaker 2: You see people on instagram.
- 31:39Speaker 2: It's all fucking lighting and genetics and posing and this, and that, if you compare yourself to you, though, you you know, you lost five pounds, you can go longer on the treadmill, you can, you feel better, whatever it is, those small things will keep you going more than you know.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Whatever fucking thing you're comparing yourself to, which is stupid anyway and another thing is if you don't know how much muscle that person's put on in the past, if they put on muscle and then they lost some muscle, it's easier for them to put the muscle back on again that's an actual thing.
- 32:08Speaker 1: But also shout out to leon dogwood, who's the one that told you to swear more all my, my swearing buddies, yeah, no see, that's my plan.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Listen, I'm gonna take pictures right now and then I'm just gonna get like I'm just gonna gain a ton of weight, and then I'm gonna do before and after and reverse them dude, I thought about doing that today because you could, you could easily look at the before and after.
- 32:31Speaker 3: Come on and you just swap them.
- 32:33Speaker 2: That's easy it's so easy to gain.
- 32:35Speaker 2: I just gained the weight boom and then everybody signs up.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Problem solved.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Oh wait, I thought about something completely different when you were saying that Never mind.
- 32:45Speaker 2: Well, we've all thought about this at one time.
- 32:47Speaker 2: That's what's important.
- 32:48Speaker 2: We all thought about scamming people and how easy it would be.
- 32:52Speaker 1: You need to think of those things.
- 32:53Speaker 2: We think about that every single episode.
- 32:55Speaker 2: We think about that every single episode, and how we can scam people out of money and how much money we could make.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Wow.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Yep, somebody could literally listen to this podcast and learn everything there is to know about scamming people.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Welcome back to InScameration.
- 33:09Speaker 2: Get your pens and pencils out, because this is how you're going to take others' money.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Now it's reversing your before and after photos.
- 33:18Speaker 2: We got the supplements.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Reverse your before and after photos.
- 33:19Speaker 2: We got the supplements.
- 33:20Speaker 3: reverse your before and after Nothing worse than I saw on Instagram somebody calling out somebody else for Photoshopping and totally like changing the way the weights were in the photo and then like bringing in the waistline and stuff like that.
- 33:35Speaker 2: There's so much of that If you don't know, like I'm telling you there there's so much photo videos can be pretty edited pretty well.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Now, like it's.
- 33:43Speaker 2: It's crazy, so you can't trust, like anything you say fucking ai's taking over.
- 33:47Speaker 3: We're all screwed.
- 33:48Speaker 2: We're all screwed.
- 33:49Speaker 1: I mean i's taking over, okay I I've made bobby do an entire sitcom episode.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Moral of the story hope is lost, give up.
- 33:57Speaker 2: That's an entire sitcom episode.
- 33:58Speaker 2: Moral of the story hope is lost, give up.
- 33:59Speaker 2: That's.
- 34:05Speaker 3: I gotta tell you guys, this is the most interesting fucking podcast I've ever been on.
- 34:10Speaker 2: This is what we do.
- 34:11Speaker 3: That means we're doing our job.
- 34:14Speaker 2: We swear and we yell at our listeners.
- 34:16Speaker 3: This is what we do.
- 34:17Speaker 3: You know that's great guys.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Sometimes people need a little bit of the David Goggins.
- 34:22Speaker 3: That was me on my Instagram story today.
- 34:24Speaker 3: If you guys go check it out, I'm yelling at the fact that fucking Ozempic and these injectables.
- 34:30Speaker 3: I got a text today from actually a company that I really respect and it was the fact that they are launching their weight loss program.
- 34:39Speaker 3: It's here, it's launching their weight management program and you can now book in your consultation and it's fucking semi-glutatide and a bunch of other injections on their PDF and they Is there some big like lose this much weight in this amount of time?
- 34:59Speaker 3: Weight loss Weight loss Backed by science.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Backed by science.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Smart, that's smart.
- 35:04Speaker 2: There we go See.
- 35:06Speaker 1: now we're learning.
- 35:06Speaker 2: See, this is where we learn the good shit, how we fucking scam people.
- 35:09Speaker 2: What else we got?
- 35:09Speaker 2: How else are we scamming people?
- 35:11Speaker 2: Let me know, yeah.
- 35:13Speaker 3: So it was me screaming on my Instagram because, like the two things on there is, it stabilizes blood sugar and it curbs your cravings.
- 35:21Speaker 3: I was like guess what people?
- 35:22Speaker 3: Guess what else fucking does Fucking protein?
- 35:24Speaker 3: Eat your protein in a day.
- 35:27Speaker 2: I would add boost metabolism in there as well.
- 35:30Speaker 2: I think that's important to add because that's like a big people love that.
- 35:33Speaker 2: So yeah, I would just add that on top.
- 35:35Speaker 2: That's pretty good.
- 35:35Speaker 2: That's pretty good.
- 35:36Speaker 2: I give him a nine out of ten.
- 35:40Speaker 3: This is so mad, I'm raging, oh it's fucking infuriating.
- 35:43Speaker 2: That's why I yell so much on this podcast.
- 35:45Speaker 2: I mean, there's a lot of reasons I yell.
- 35:51Speaker 2: But that's one of the reasons I yell so much.
- 35:54Speaker 2: Yeah, true story, and I think people sympathize because we're all just fucking angry, like every single one of us is just fucking mad.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Like we just reach that point where you've learned that all of this stuff is scamming.
- 36:02Speaker 3: All of these things are are players on words to here like how is the fitness industry still here?
- 36:07Speaker 3: Like, how are we still like?
- 36:08Speaker 2: because it fucking works well, yeah, because that's why it's still here facts and it's so infuriating for us because we see it.
- 36:16Speaker 2: We're like, ok, it does the thing you're saying works, doesn't work, but what you are doing in scamming people 100 percent works and you just don't give a shit.
- 36:26Speaker 2: So it's just frustrating for anyone else who just like who sees this and understands.
- 36:31Speaker 2: You just want to scream and you just want to scream, and so either you scream into a pillow or you make a podcast, like I did, and you yell at your listeners and that is all you can do.
- 36:41Speaker 3: People stop fucking listening to those assholes Moving on here for it.
- 36:49Speaker 2: How are you doing, Rob?
- 36:50Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 36:52Speaker 1: I'm not being my worst, Liam.
- 36:54Speaker 2: And we're not our worst, and that's what's important.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Small steps.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Don't be your, your worst.
- 37:02Speaker 1: And that's your introduction to liam's ranting fucking.
- 37:05Speaker 2: It's one step at a time.
- 37:07Speaker 2: You oh you made a misstep oh, it's a bad week now fuck that shit it's once.
- 37:11Speaker 2: It's one mistake.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Who gives a shit, it doesn't matter anyway you know I love your content, Liam.
- 37:18Speaker 3: Your content's great.
- 37:19Speaker 3: I'm waiting for the K-bye.
- 37:20Speaker 3: Do you say that at the end?
- 37:21Speaker 2: of the podcast K-bye.
- 37:22Speaker 2: All I want to do in my videos is just yell at people like you know what you have to do.
- 37:29Speaker 2: It's not complicated.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Stop listening to people that say eat raw testicles.
- 37:34Speaker 3: No, that's not the answer.
- 37:36Speaker 2: I know you are asking me is this is real?
- 37:38Speaker 3: no, it's not real, you know it's not real k bye k bye.
- 37:44Speaker 3: What got me so mad about that?
- 37:46Speaker 3: Because he's eating raw testicles, saying that's the way that the way to the way to go to get the results yet didn't come out until, like what, a year later, about him taking the drugs or people take anyone with two eyeballs no, anybody with one eyeball fucking knew that dude was on every drug.
- 38:03Speaker 3: No, kidding I knew I called it and then my friends were like no way and I was like dude a hundred percent, a hundred percent, it totally is.
- 38:12Speaker 3: And then I was like, when it came out, I was like told you so, told you so, fucking, told you so Of course he is.
- 38:18Speaker 2: He looks like a fucking mutant, obviously.
- 38:21Speaker 2: How do you not know?
- 38:23Speaker 2: But no, it's the primal lifestyle, bro.
- 38:26Speaker 2: You just need to wake up and fucking sun your taint and then go eat as many raw testicles as your stomach can fit.
- 38:33Speaker 3: I saw that on your content.
- 38:35Speaker 1: For the listeners that somehow don't know what he's talking about.
- 38:38Speaker 1: He's talking about Liver King again.
- 38:39Speaker 2: Liver King Again entertaining, fun to watch complete.
- 38:46Speaker 2: I don't know a jester.
- 38:48Speaker 2: He's a jester in the 21st century.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Let's all go to Utah School after this.
- 38:55Speaker 3: That's my assessment.
- 38:59Speaker 1: So what's your guys' week been like?
- 39:00Speaker 2: How you doing.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Well, I mean, we did play a lot of Baldur's Gate.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Man, that game's fun.
- 39:08Speaker 2: See and see you work out and then you play video games.
- 39:11Speaker 1: That's the way you go.
- 39:13Speaker 3: I just bought an Xbox, my first Xbox ever.
- 39:16Speaker 3: There you go See.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Now you can come play Baldur's Gate with us.
- 39:19Speaker 1: You got to play.
- 39:19Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure it's cross-border, you have to rest in order to build muscle.
- 39:23Speaker 2: We don't build muscle in the gym, right we?
- 39:25Speaker 2: Break down muscle in the gym and we build it playing Baldur's Gate sitting on our butts.
- 39:31Speaker 1: This is what we do Doing critical BDSM sessions.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Bdsm sessions, What'd you say?
- 39:36Speaker 2: Nikki.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Rob's yelling at me.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Why does Rob always yell on this podcast.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Shut up.
- 39:42Speaker 3: You burn calories while you're doing it.
- 39:45Speaker 2: You go, you well.
- 39:47Speaker 2: You burn calories while you're yelling.
- 39:48Speaker 2: No, you work out, and then you come and you relax and that is where you repair Okay, and it's everything in moderation.
- 39:56Speaker 2: You work out, you eat healthy food most not healthy.
- 40:00Speaker 2: You eat nutritious food most of the time, and then you enjoy your doritos while playing balder's gate.
- 40:04Speaker 2: And, yes, it gets your keyboard a little dorito-y, but you can clean that, it's fine I think it's absolutely hilarious.
- 40:11Speaker 1: sometimes in the lives you get the comments from people that are like why are you playing video games?
- 40:16Speaker 1: To have a little fun?
- 40:19Speaker 1: I'm sorry People are trolls.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Oh God.
- 40:25Speaker 2: And it's always fun, isn't it fun?
- 40:27Speaker 2: That the trolls always stick up for the people scamming people in the fucking oh yeah, it's the best Like they've bought fully into.
- 40:33Speaker 2: They're the ones that bought into the like Liver King and shit, and you're just like what is life?
- 40:38Speaker 1: What is going on?
- 40:39Speaker 1: Those are the ones that actually thought liver king was natural.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Yeah, what's happened?
- 40:45Speaker 2: Where did we go wrong?
- 40:49Speaker 2: Anyway, I guess we should probably get back to telling people like what they can actually do to help themselves.
- 40:56Speaker 2: That's probably good 40 minutes in moderation.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Track your macros, eat right, work out do video games, the things you know you need to do, you already know them.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly but um one thing you do talk about is uh post perimenopausal stuff I think that's important yeah yeah, and that's something that liam and I obviously have no idea about, not an expert.
- 41:25Speaker 3: No, I've personally never gone through it, but I I share a bunch of, I mean, the education background was I went to nursing school and so I have all of that insight.
- 41:34Speaker 3: Um worked in the field for nine years.
- 41:36Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean, our community is all full of women that are pre-post-menopause, going through it, and I think one of the most important things that this demographic can be doing is strength training because at the age of which this happens, their estrogen drops, all the hormones are shifting internally, their bone density is getting weaker, Osteoporosis is a real thing Later on in life.
- 42:00Speaker 3: I remember, when I worked in the ER, the amount of like fractures and hip fractures of older women that I would see coming in.
- 42:07Speaker 3: I'm like man you can tell.
- 42:08Speaker 3: You can look at somebody you can realize that they probably never worked out a day in their life before.
- 42:12Speaker 3: And so I think you know just stressing the fact that those women that are in that age group should be in the world of strength training.
- 42:20Speaker 3: And I'm not talking about, like you know, boot camps and like F45 and like Orange Theory.
- 42:25Speaker 3: I'm talking like actually putting the resistance on the body to make the bones, to make the muscles stronger.
- 42:31Speaker 3: That in turn make the bones stronger.
- 42:33Speaker 1: But that's going to make me look like a man, I think.
- 42:36Speaker 2: Well, especially at that age age, it definitely ain't because hormones are definitely not there, 100, so and for you know, for women in that age range, like you know, you really don't need a lot of weight.
- 42:46Speaker 2: You can easily work out at home.
- 42:47Speaker 2: I know a lot of people are still just against the gym.
- 42:50Speaker 2: If you can just buy some simple weights bands, you know just yeah, a good set of resistance bands.
- 42:56Speaker 1: You could get like 50 bucks I know, they will take you a far way 100 you could do tempo work.
- 43:02Speaker 3: You could slow down the movement.
- 43:04Speaker 3: Like you could put more time under tension to really create the burn, like all that you look, you can look up.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Youtube is.
- 43:10Speaker 2: I don't know if you've ever heard of it.
- 43:11Speaker 2: It's a place they got lots of videos.
- 43:12Speaker 2: There's at least 10 of them, I don't know and you just moderation on?
- 43:16Speaker 1: I think people should look up in moderation on YouTube.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Hey, don't plug our podcast during our podcast idiot, great plug, listen, look up, look up.
- 43:27Speaker 2: You know resistance bands workouts like, and there's a kajillion billion of them and you can just buy yourself some simple bands.
- 43:35Speaker 2: That's how you plug.
- 43:36Speaker 2: You can look up, up worry, but yeah, exactly, I love it and you know, and you can work out at home, listen to your own music, listen to whatever you like to listen to, and you know you're in the privacy of your own home.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Just, something is always better than nothing.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Doing that, what two, three times a week for 20 minutes, like I'm pretty sure most people can find, at least that you know, you don't even have to travel.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Now we got cozy bulking, call cozy bulk.
- 44:05Speaker 2: I don't know if I'm on the with cozy cozy building cozy come true.
- 44:10Speaker 1: So we need the alliteration.
- 44:23Speaker 2: Okay, relaxed, resistant no.
- 44:28Speaker 3: We're going to workshop this.
- 44:29Speaker 2: We're going to come back to this at some point, but just in your own home and having that for a lot of people they just feel more comfortable.
- 44:36Speaker 2: So that's A-OK Facts.
- 44:41Speaker 1: Now we're all chill.
- 44:41Speaker 1: We've gotten it all out of our system.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Now is the zen moment Deep breath the simple things man.
- 44:55Speaker 3: I'm telling you, it's just the simple things, the thing fix 100%.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Is there anything that you wanted to talk about while you were here?
- 45:01Speaker 3: eat, lift, be nice to people and work hard.
- 45:12Speaker 2: Again you go back to the simple things.
- 45:14Speaker 3: That's all it is, people it's okay, get your steps in steps in a day.
- 45:18Speaker 2: People, that's really important get your steps in drink your waters or your diet soda, because, no, it's not gonna give you all the cancers, it's fine I have another thing, um my fridge.
- 45:28Speaker 3: Right now it's there we go.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Another thing, though, is that we should also probably start encouraging younger women to get into sports and lifting more I mean yeah, totally, I think all like sports.
- 45:42Speaker 3: that's how I started my whole.
- 45:43Speaker 3: I played sports growing up, played basketball, field, hockey, track, um, and that's what gave me tons of, first of all, structure routine and then you had a coach telling you all the things that you had to do, you, you had practice, you had to show up to like, and you just find, you find your, you find a lot of confidence doing that kind of stuff.
- 46:02Speaker 3: And then after that, the reason why I got back to back into bodybuilding is because after the sports college, life happened and you have that like weird error where you're trying to like figure things out and like learn life and I forgot what the feeling was like having a coach.
- 46:19Speaker 3: So, totally like, I think sports at a young age gives you a ton of a ton of a lot of things, a lot of things to learn in life from, from being in sports.
- 46:29Speaker 3: Yeah, lost my train of thought there, but no, I think it's it's it's great avenue.
- 46:34Speaker 2: But for a lot of people, I think they get in this mindset where they don't do any of those, they don't do sports, or, you know, at a younger age, and they're like, oh, it's just kind of too late, you know, like I just never got into it, so I'm not going to get into it.
- 46:44Speaker 2: Listen, I'll tell you what.
- 46:46Speaker 2: Until the age of 20, the only time I ever ran was by pressing a, like I literally I didn't, I didn't play any sports, I didn't do anything athletic whatsoever.
- 46:55Speaker 2: And it wasn't until I was in my twenties, really until I started doing active things.
- 47:00Speaker 2: So like it, you know, and there's people in their forties, fifties doing it for their first time.
- 47:04Speaker 2: That's fine, like, get into it, mess up learn.
- 47:07Speaker 2: That's what's important.
- 47:09Speaker 1: But like I definitely seen a lot of um stuff, that kind of uh, it's that speed bump for women to get or for young girls to get into sports and stuff.
- 47:23Speaker 1: And like I don't know if you guys saw it, but I think it was in Kentucky there was a girls' basketball team.
- 47:30Speaker 1: That was just.
- 47:31Speaker 1: It was a mixed league, so boys and girls playing, and this one school had all girls on their team and they were absolutely whooping the boys.
- 47:41Speaker 1: They went seven and one in their league.
- 47:42Speaker 1: They were absolutely whooping the boys.
- 47:43Speaker 1: They went seven and one in their league.
- 47:44Speaker 1: And then when it got time to do the big competition at the end of the season, the league actually banned them from competing in that because they didn't want the boys to lose to girls.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Not even joking, that was their reason.
- 48:01Speaker 2: That's so great.
- 48:02Speaker 2: That's so great, that's so great.
- 48:05Speaker 2: Talk about fragile masculinity at its finest Right.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Like these, girls were absolutely whooping the boys teams.
- 48:15Speaker 3: Wait, that's honestly smart, though here's how I'll never lose.
- 48:18Speaker 2: You can't play Boom.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Problem solved, yep.
- 48:22Speaker 3: I would feel like that would almost fuck me up even more if I was a boy.
- 48:28Speaker 2: It's like they got handed it.
- 48:29Speaker 2: Don't worry about me, I'm just eating tofu over here because I hurt, because the internet told me, it'll give me man boobs because they can't have that either.
- 48:37Speaker 2: You can't have anything if you listen to the internet.
- 48:39Speaker 2: Don't listen to any of the internet, you won't be able to eat any food In moderation 2024.
- 48:48Speaker 1: Wow, well, I think you need to tell everybody where to find you, obviously.
- 48:54Speaker 1: I mean, there's something about like a warrior and a babe in there somewhere.
- 48:58Speaker 3: Yes, you guys, if you want what we talked about earlier.
- 49:01Speaker 3: You know we heavily help women in the age brackets of like 40 to 70 years old that are struggling with learning how to eat right.

- 50:00Speaker 1: So what you're saying is you actually teach women to not eat 1,000 calories that they can actually eat more than that.
- 50:08Speaker 2: Facts yeah, the 1,200 calories, the 1,000 calories I used to want to bash my head into a wall.
- 50:14Speaker 3: Yeah, every woman comes to us.
- 50:15Speaker 2: I'd yell, but I'm done yelling, I'm out of it.
- 50:17Speaker 2: I got nothing left in the tank, Sorry guys.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Bye.
- 50:20Speaker 1: I think that was the biggest rant you've had in a while.
- 50:25Speaker 3: That was good, that was fun, I had a 60-year-old eating almost 3,600 calories.
- 50:37Speaker 3: Wow, wow, yeah, it's fun stuff.
- 50:38Speaker 2: That's what I eat, and I burn 2,000 calories a day, yelling, which is crazy.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Only 2,000?
- 50:46Speaker 2: I mean, it depends on the day, obviously, when I'm bulking, obviously, yeah.
- 50:49Speaker 3: I feel like that rant here alone burnt 2,000 calories.
- 50:55Speaker 1: Liam's level of neat is up here.
- 50:59Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty much, pretty much.
- 51:02Speaker 3: I non-exercise the shit out of that activity thermogenesis oh wow.
- 51:09Speaker 1: Liam's introduced an entirely new categorization of metabolism.
- 51:14Speaker 2: It's yelling exercise activity thermogenesis, Honestly there's so much bullshit in the nutrition and fitness world, I think I can get people on just getting mad.
- 51:23Speaker 2: Here's how you just get mad at um the world and then, like you, just have to expel calories through anger.
- 51:31Speaker 2: Would that be good for your psyche?
- 51:34Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 51:35Speaker 1: There's only one way to find out well then I mean everyone loves and it, and it's backed by science.

- 52:27Speaker 2: Yeah, you're just gonna break and heel turn hasn't happened yet, but trust me, my friends, it will it will, it will yeah what did you say heel turn heel, heel
- 52:38Speaker 2: turn you turn heel.
- 52:39Speaker 2: It's like when you go evil oh, I've never heard of that.
- 52:43Speaker 3: It's like in a movie where someone turns heel they become the villain at that point oh yeah, I think it's.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Did it originate with wrestling?
- 52:50Speaker 1: I know wrestling uses it a lot.
- 52:52Speaker 1: I think you're right.
- 52:52Speaker 2: I think it started with like WWE, like you had the heel turn so like you had a wrestler who was like the good guy and everyone's like, oh shit, he's a bad guy now.
- 53:01Speaker 3: It's crazy yeah that's heel turn no, I just learned something new.
- 53:05Speaker 3: Well, there's your fun fact of the day learning on in moderation.
