- 0:00Speaker 1: With Michael Bennett. Hello, Big Blue Nation, Welcome to Just
- 0:09Speaker 1: the Cats. My name is Michael Bennett. On this Monday,
- 0:12Speaker 1: May fourth. I can't believe I'm saying May fourth, but man,
- 0:17Speaker 1: the time just flies, you know, it just seems like
- 0:21Speaker 1: it was this past weekend when thunder over Louisville was
- 0:23Speaker 1: of course, that was two weeks ago. But here we
- 0:26Speaker 1: are back in studio after being backside at Churchill Downs
- 0:29Speaker 1: all last week was a blast, so I thoroughly enjoyed that.
- 0:34Speaker 1: But Justin Caylin is with me this morning. Justin are
- 0:37Speaker 1: you you know you asked me on our daily cross
- 0:40Speaker 1: talk and it's it is funny. You're right. The sound
- 0:45Speaker 1: is completely different when we're out there at Churchill Downs
- 0:48Speaker 1: on the comrades and coming in here. I mean it's
- 0:51Speaker 1: completely different. But are you recovering from your weekend and
- 0:56Speaker 1: the last week what we've been doing, because we've been
- 0:58Speaker 1: running everywhere. Yeah, no, I mean I'm good.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I mentioned at the top of my show this morning
- 1:03Speaker 2: that I'm a very habitual type of person. So when
- 1:07Speaker 2: I get out of that habitual lifestyle kind of makes
- 1:10Speaker 2: me uncomfortable a little bit, like right, as much as
- 1:13Speaker 2: I love being on the backside. There's just something about
- 1:16Speaker 2: being in studio and feeling as comfortable as absolutely.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Oh really, okay, because I will tell you I love
- 1:24Speaker 1: it back there. I just I love the excitement, the
- 1:27Speaker 1: everybody's happy, you got crowds. I know, I thoroughly enjoy
- 1:33Speaker 1: being back there. You like being looked at like a
- 1:36Speaker 1: zoo animal. No, I don't like that aspect. But but
- 1:39Speaker 1: you know, that's when we're sitting in the chair. When
- 1:41Speaker 1: I'm standing up, I'm amongst the other people, so I'm
- 1:44Speaker 1: on the outside looking at you the zoo animal. That's okay.
- 1:48Speaker 1: So that's why I would stand up and be over
- 1:50Speaker 1: there and let everybody else take the headphones. I'd hold
- 1:53Speaker 1: the microphone because that was fun. By the way, Kevin Traeger,
- 1:57Speaker 1: you know of a Republic Bank, Okay, you know you
- 2:00Speaker 1: know he was on with us Thursday. He really enjoyed
- 2:03Speaker 1: being with us, love it. He did tell him to
- 2:05Speaker 1: come back. That's what I told him as well. He's like, Michael,
- 2:09Speaker 1: you got to get me back here again next year.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I love the Traker family. I think they are some
- 2:13Speaker 1: of the nicest people in the city, if not the nicest.
- 2:17Speaker 1: But that was fun having him. I was trying to
- 2:19Speaker 1: think who I enjoyed the most as far as who
- 2:24Speaker 1: joined the show last week, because you know, we had
- 2:25Speaker 1: a number of people that came over to be with us.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Now are we on YouTube today? We are okay? Good,
- 2:32Speaker 1: So you got it? Thank you. I appreciate you responding
- 2:35Speaker 1: to me. I should I should just read my text
- 2:37Speaker 1: from you? You should. But all right, if you want to
- 2:39Speaker 1: join this five O two four one four FOURT two,
- 2:41Speaker 1: we'll take calls today. Now we're back to a point
- 2:44Speaker 1: where you know we can take our call. So local John,
- 2:46Speaker 1: if you want to call in five it wasn't the local, Yeah,
- 2:49Speaker 1: it is local John calls it five O two three
- 2:51Speaker 1: eight four fourteen fifty. You want to call in, I
- 2:53Speaker 1: would like to hear from people today, or if you
- 2:55Speaker 1: want to text in, you can do that on the
- 2:58Speaker 1: Whiskey T text line. It's five O two four one
- 3:01Speaker 1: four fourteen fifty. I promise I will read them. But
- 3:05Speaker 1: you know, we had so much going on. I have
- 3:08Speaker 1: so many topics from last week that I didn't even
- 3:10Speaker 1: discuss because we're on the backside, and then you know,
- 3:14Speaker 1: one person would come in, another person would come in.
- 3:16Speaker 1: We had Dale Romans, Kenny McPeek, Terry Finley at West Point,
- 3:19Speaker 1: the Thoroughbreds. We had Jason Worth. We had ned Toffee
- 3:25Speaker 1: from Spendthrift Farm. I'm having a hard time remembering which
- 3:30Speaker 1: interview I enjoyed the most. Mine's easy, is it really?
- 3:35Speaker 1: Because I'll tell you right now, mine is not. Mine
- 3:39Speaker 1: is not easy at all. And the sad part about it,
- 3:42Speaker 1: I think I could have talked to every one of
- 3:44Speaker 1: our guests a lot longer, including Steve Trager, who joined
- 3:50Speaker 1: us just so happily because he was walking around with
- 3:53Speaker 1: my wife and some of their friends. So I don't
- 3:57Speaker 1: know who I would say, all right, go ahead.
- 3:59Speaker 2: My favorite interview of the week was easily Patricia Bodachill. Oh,
- 4:06Speaker 2: the fact that the fact that you asked her her
- 4:10Speaker 2: last name and she said bought it chilly instead of been.
- 4:13Speaker 1: It was a one of the best as a weekend.
- 4:16Speaker 1: But no, oh, now come because you know you wouldn't
- 4:21Speaker 1: ask her questions. She wouldn't even do anything. It's like
- 4:24Speaker 1: she killed you know. The funny part is she thinks
- 4:28Speaker 1: I'm funny, I I and she does not think she's funny.
- 4:31Speaker 1: She's funnier than me, and she doesn't give her enough credit.
- 4:35Speaker 1: But that was quick witted right there, and I love
- 4:37Speaker 1: my wife saying that. Yeah, that was hilarious. No, but
- 4:40Speaker 1: in all reality, I say it's easy. But I'm kind
- 4:45Speaker 1: of torn between the whole Jason Worth and Kenny McPeak. Yeah,
- 4:49Speaker 1: m yacka back.
- 4:51Speaker 2: I would have I would have loved to have Kenny
- 4:53Speaker 2: McPeak for another ten to fifteen minutes gotten it the
- 4:57Speaker 2: Kentucky basketball side of things, and yeah, picked his brain
- 5:00Speaker 2: and on all that. But I just I love those
- 5:02Speaker 2: guys so much. And Jason word specifically, I grew up
- 5:06Speaker 2: watching him. I mean he was one of my idols
- 5:08Speaker 2: in Major League Baseball.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Said he one of the nicest guys you've ever met before.
- 5:13Speaker 1: I mean, he is genuine.
- 5:14Speaker 2: And I don't know, I don't know if I said
- 5:16Speaker 2: this on air, so i'll say it now. But when
- 5:19Speaker 2: I went up to him and I shook his hand
- 5:20Speaker 2: and introduced myself, yeah, I told him, I said, you
- 5:23Speaker 2: are a bad man back in the day. And he
- 5:26Speaker 2: looks at me and he goes, yes, I was exactly
- 5:29Speaker 2: humble too.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I love that, yes, exactly. But he's a great guy.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I mean you think he's some kind of fake guy,
- 5:36Speaker 1: but no, I mean because you see him on national television. Course, he's,
- 5:41Speaker 1: you know, the owner of door Knock, the Belmont Stakes
- 5:45Speaker 1: winning horse. He was a part of the Netflix Race
- 5:48Speaker 1: to the Crown. Of course, he's on the World Series
- 5:51Speaker 1: team the Phillies. That's you know, that's how we connected
- 5:54Speaker 1: is through horse racing. Chris, I'm in Okalla and we've
- 5:58Speaker 1: kind of kept in contact, and which has been fun
- 6:02Speaker 1: because he remembers me. I made the comment that you know,
- 6:04Speaker 1: how much he just broke my heart and how much
- 6:07Speaker 1: I hate him for that, and he thinks that's funny.
- 6:10Speaker 1: And then of course he likes to make fun of
- 6:12Speaker 1: the Trumpicana Field, which is like, the last time you've
- 6:15Speaker 1: been there, I'm not going back to that dump. It's like, God,
- 6:19Speaker 1: come on, man, say something nice too. He said, the
- 6:22Speaker 1: best look for it was when the roof was torn off.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I forgot about that. That was funny. I mean that really,
- 6:31Speaker 1: that's very true. It was not a good look, but yeah,
- 6:34Speaker 1: that place is different. But anyway, I enjoyed that, and
- 6:38Speaker 1: I'm like, you, maybe we should try and because here's
- 6:41Speaker 1: the problem I have with Kenny, and people don't know this.
- 6:45Speaker 1: So Jason was going to come on and then Kenny
- 6:48Speaker 1: came over as Michael. I only got a few minutes
- 6:50Speaker 1: because I got my horses coming out. Jason Worth stood
- 6:53Speaker 1: there and said, Kenny, you go first. I don't mind
- 6:56Speaker 1: waiting around. And do you realize that Jason Worth waited
- 7:02Speaker 1: around for us for like thirty five forty minutes long time?
- 7:07Speaker 1: And I really appreciate him doing that. I kept expecting
- 7:09Speaker 1: him to just walk off too. For this. I thought,
- 7:12Speaker 1: it's like Michael, I got to go. I appreciate your offering.
- 7:15Speaker 1: He stood there and waited for us, and I could
- 7:17Speaker 1: not appreciate that anymore than I did. And of course,
- 7:21Speaker 1: you know, we talked on Friday and Saturday and I
- 7:23Speaker 1: just told him how much I appreciated told ned toffee.
- 7:25Speaker 1: But I'm like you, here's what we'll do. I'll see
- 7:29Speaker 1: if Kenny mcpete can come back and talk about maybe
- 7:33Speaker 1: the Preatinus and or the Belmont. And because I'm like you,
- 7:37Speaker 1: I think TJ would have enjoyed it more to talk
- 7:39Speaker 1: a little bit more about UK, because Kenny's definitely got
- 7:43Speaker 1: some opinions on UK. You know, he was giving his opinions,
- 7:46Speaker 1: which he's very opinionated. Where racing is today, it's not
- 7:52Speaker 1: in a negative way that he has opinionated opinionated about this,
- 7:56Speaker 1: but in a positive way could because he doesn't want
- 7:59Speaker 1: to lose a sport he dearly loves.
- 8:02Speaker 2: You know what was crazy about him talking with us
- 8:05Speaker 2: that day? So he was first of all, I didn't
- 8:08Speaker 2: know that the whole vet thing was as big of
- 8:10Speaker 2: an issue and huge Micropolis going crazy over it and
- 8:15Speaker 2: can there was a lot of talk about it. But
- 8:18Speaker 2: then so he comes on with us, what was that
- 8:20Speaker 2: Thursday morning?
- 8:21Speaker 1: Yes?
- 8:21Speaker 2: And then his was it his horse that scratched from
- 8:25Speaker 2: the yolks.
- 8:26Speaker 1: It was or from the derby? No, it's from the derby.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I can't remember the name of right to party, But
- 8:30Speaker 2: that very day his horse got scratched from the derby
- 8:33Speaker 2: due to a vet decision.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I thought that was pretty funny, not for him, but no,
- 8:38Speaker 1: I was gonna say, that's not funny. I mean, that's
- 8:40Speaker 1: just sad. Can you well, because here's a lot of
- 8:43Speaker 1: things that happened on that derby day that you know
- 8:48Speaker 1: you had the other one? What was the other one
- 8:49Speaker 1: that scratched right at the gate? Oh it was great white,
- 8:54Speaker 1: great white. That's a hell on its back. That was
- 8:57Speaker 1: not so as soon as a horse flips like that,
- 9:01Speaker 1: they're out. It doesn't matter if they're okay or not.
- 9:03Speaker 1: You are that ridiculous, though.
- 9:06Speaker 2: I mean the horse was very obviously when it got
- 9:08Speaker 2: back to its feet was walking normally. It looked fine.
- 9:11Speaker 2: The report came out after the race that the vets
- 9:14Speaker 2: checked on it and it was fine.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I don't know that. I'm I'm okay with a quick
- 9:19Speaker 1: trigger like that for a but that's that is a rule.
- 9:22Speaker 1: It doesn't matter. And because remember when back in last July,
- 9:27Speaker 1: I flew all the way out to California to watch
- 9:30Speaker 1: our horse rivera race and she flipped, and it's just automatic.
- 9:36Speaker 1: I mean, you get it. But I don't know if
- 9:39Speaker 1: you saw the the outrider was right there and caught
- 9:44Speaker 1: the reins of the horse. I mean it could have been,
- 9:47Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, you've got to go watch that video,
- 9:50Speaker 1: and it is. And then they show the poor jockey,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I mean, he is just you can tell he's just
- 9:56Speaker 1: an absolute shock that what just transpired, right because the
- 10:01Speaker 1: horse could have fallen on him. I mean it was
- 10:04Speaker 1: just unbelievable. Yeah, Jackie Alex Orchid Orchard, uh and he
- 10:10Speaker 1: just is like, oh my gosh, what just happened? Then
- 10:13Speaker 1: can you imagine being the owners of that horse?
- 10:16Speaker 2: Here you are, Oh, you're right, Oh my gosh, that's incredible.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Go watch that video if you haven't seen it yet.
- 10:23Speaker 1: So White, Great White flips somehow alex or Archard gets
- 10:30Speaker 1: off and doesn't hurt himself, the horse didn't fall on him,
- 10:35Speaker 1: and then the outriders was lucky enough to grab those reins,
- 10:39Speaker 1: which slowed the momentum and made that fall way less
- 10:42Speaker 1: worse than it could have. Oh yeah, and not only
- 10:44Speaker 1: but also could have gotten all the other horses worked up.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I mean, it would have been a really bad look
- 10:50Speaker 1: for the Kentucky Derby.
- 10:51Speaker 2: That sucked, though I wanted to see Great White work
- 10:53Speaker 2: just because it was that was the biggest horse in
- 10:56Speaker 2: the field. I've never seen a bigger race horse.
- 10:58Speaker 1: In my life than Great Sovereignty. No, I don't know.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I bet if you put them side, I bet Great
- 11:04Speaker 1: White's bigger, be really huge. Yeah, but I listen, I mean,
- 11:10Speaker 1: that was that's heartbreaking. I can't imagine being the trainer,
- 11:13Speaker 1: the jockey, or the owners of that horse. You make
- 11:17Speaker 1: it all the way to the gate and your horse
- 11:22Speaker 1: freaks out, flips and you're disqualified and scratch from the race.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I mean, that's what a major disappointment that would be.
- 11:31Speaker 1: And then you go to the flip side and you
- 11:33Speaker 1: see everybody from Golden Tempo that's just screaming like crazy, celebrating,
- 11:39Speaker 1: and that's part of the Phipps family. Of course, they've
- 11:41Speaker 1: been in horse racing many years. If here's what we
- 11:45Speaker 1: did last night. So last night, my son, who lives
- 11:49Speaker 1: in New York, decided I want to watch a movie
- 11:51Speaker 1: and he wanted all of us to watch it with him. Okay,
- 11:54Speaker 1: are you ready for the movie that he picked that
- 11:56Speaker 1: he wanted to watch? Secretariat? Exactly. I feel like that
- 11:59Speaker 1: was kind of easy since I said Phipps. But yeah,
- 12:03Speaker 1: who was a part of the coin? Is that movie
- 12:05Speaker 1: real long? It's probably a couple hours. Why why do
- 12:09Speaker 1: you say real long? I thought it was over two hours.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I don't well, I don't know. I don't think it's
- 12:14Speaker 1: over two hours. But it's it's a really good movie.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Of course, a lot of it was filmed in Lexington,
- 12:19Speaker 1: part it was a lot of it was filmed here
- 12:21Speaker 1: in Louisville at and part of it was filmed downtown
- 12:24Speaker 1: at Pendennis Club. Two hours, three minutes. Oh okay, so right,
- 12:27Speaker 1: at two hours? Is that too long for you? Yeah?
- 12:30Speaker 2: I mean I like my movies to be closer to
- 12:32Speaker 2: ninety minutes. But I can be okay with.
- 12:35Speaker 1: The two hours. What is wrong with you? Come on,
- 12:37Speaker 1: I like what I like? Okay, fair enough, I'm not
- 12:39Speaker 1: going to criticize you for that. So uh, but that
- 12:42Speaker 1: that that was a real disappointment for the the owners
- 12:46Speaker 1: of Great White, and I felt bad for them. But
- 12:48Speaker 1: on the other hand, you know, you talked about it
- 12:51Speaker 1: at length. But but Scherie Devou I love that, which
- 12:55Speaker 1: which is not common for her to act like that.
- 12:59Speaker 1: She gets but not like that. Of course, she's first
- 13:03Speaker 1: woman to ever win with Kentucky Derby. Congratulations to her.
- 13:06Speaker 1: I don't see sex and anything. How many it's great.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I got a text on my show this morning. Obviously
- 13:14Speaker 1: men are much more prominent in horse racing. Yes, no
- 13:17Speaker 1: matter the whether we're talking owner, trainer, I mean all
- 13:22Speaker 1: of it. How many women trainers are there? Even there's
- 13:26Speaker 1: a few, there's more than you know, but they're not
- 13:28Speaker 1: as prominent. There's a few down in Tampa, Tampa Bay Downs.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I know there's a few up at parks up at
- 13:34Speaker 1: the outside of Philadelphia. Can't remember right off hand, and
- 13:38Speaker 1: would bind I know there's some out it in California
- 13:41Speaker 1: that race. There's more than you think. How many I
- 13:45Speaker 1: would say it's probably fifteen percent or women.
- 13:48Speaker 2: I guess the question is how many can you name?
- 13:50Speaker 2: Because we can sit there and rattle off men trainer
- 13:53Speaker 2: for days, right, I mean, we could probably go up
- 13:56Speaker 2: until eight forty just naming men trainer.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, uh, well, I know, well obviously Sharidavo,
- 14:04Speaker 1: Donna Kanneely down in Tampa, and that's pretty much it.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I know some assistants. Pearl who works for Shari da Vo.
- 14:11Speaker 1: She does a really nice job, but she's an assistant.
- 14:13Speaker 1: So maybe one day she'll be a trainer on her own,
- 14:17Speaker 1: but I don't know. She likes working for Shari, but
- 14:21Speaker 1: that that's it. I mean, I only jockey I can
- 14:26Speaker 1: now there are some women jockeys, but honestly, the only
- 14:30Speaker 1: one I can name is retired. Her name is Donna Brothers,
- 14:35Speaker 1: who just did her last Kentucky Derby. I thought she
- 14:38Speaker 1: did a great job. Did you did you watch the
- 14:42Speaker 1: because you didn't go Saturday? You went Friday? Correct? What
- 14:46Speaker 1: did you think of the telecast?
- 14:48Speaker 2: I thought it was good? Yeah, I mean I don't
- 14:50Speaker 2: really ever have complaints about the Derby coverage. I think
- 14:53Speaker 2: they do a nice job with it. They now Churchill
- 14:58Speaker 2: has done. I don't want to call them out, but
- 15:01Speaker 2: they've not done the best job at building up around
- 15:04Speaker 2: the track. So you don't always get the best camera angle.
- 15:06Speaker 2: There's a lot of camera angles where you've got it
- 15:09Speaker 2: blocked out and you can't see the horses, which that
- 15:11Speaker 2: hasn't always been the case. I don't recall that in
- 15:14Speaker 2: years past. But yeah, no, I mean other than that,
- 15:17Speaker 2: I don't really have any complaints about the TV.
- 15:19Speaker 1: You don't Yeah, did you? I didn't see it, so
- 15:23Speaker 1: I have no idea. I mean I thought, yeah, the
- 15:25Speaker 1: way you asked that, it was like you had heard no. Well,
- 15:27Speaker 1: I did hear a couple of things. Oh yeah, Because
- 15:29Speaker 1: they had that social media guy that did a lot
- 15:33Speaker 1: of stuff. I don't remember what his name is, but
- 15:36Speaker 1: he was interviewing like the mayor of the backside or
- 15:41Speaker 1: of the infield. That was kind of a drunken fest.
- 15:45Speaker 1: I did like the video that I posted this morning
- 15:49Speaker 1: of the guy running from one end to the top
- 15:54Speaker 1: of the porta pottis. Oh they did that again? Oh yes,
- 15:58Speaker 1: they did that. And every time somebody would run. Go
- 16:02Speaker 1: look on my account at just the Cat Radio and
- 16:05Speaker 1: me posting this morning the show, and there's a guy
- 16:08Speaker 1: running across it. Everybody's throwing up beer can at him.
- 16:11Speaker 1: One guy bullet right to the head knocked him down.
- 16:16Speaker 1: It just it makes it And now I hope he's
- 16:18Speaker 1: not hurt. But watching him run across the tops of
- 16:21Speaker 1: porty potties and then everybody throwing their beer can makes
- 16:25Speaker 1: me smile. That was not this year? For what it's
- 16:28Speaker 1: not all he wasn't. Oh I'm disappointed. I thought that
- 16:31Speaker 1: was this year. No, I don't think they do the
- 16:33Speaker 1: porter pot races anymore. That's too bad. They should. That
- 16:36Speaker 1: should be a tradition like no other infield though? Was crazy?
- 16:40Speaker 1: Was that was one of the more packed in fields
- 16:42Speaker 1: that I could remember? Yeah? Well, I mean the one
- 16:45Speaker 1: thing they did break about is that it was it
- 16:49Speaker 1: was the largest viewership for the Kentucky It was a
- 16:55Speaker 1: record nineteen point six million viewers.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Largest betting handle is well, was it really crossed all plant?
- 17:02Speaker 2: I think it was like eight hundred and thirty four
- 17:04Speaker 2: million or something. I don't I don't have the number
- 17:06Speaker 2: in front of me.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Well, we got eight. Last year's total about
- 17:10Speaker 1: thirteen million. I think, wow, really yeah, and that's a
- 17:14Speaker 1: hefty number right there. So I'm glad. But it didn't
- 17:18Speaker 1: seem crowded to me though, like Friday. All right, let's
- 17:22Speaker 1: go out. Thought Friday was crazy? You do? Yeah? Okay, good,
- 17:26Speaker 1: because I want to talk about that. I know it's
- 17:28Speaker 1: been since Friday, but I do want to talk about
- 17:30Speaker 1: Oaks just a little bit. I want to talk more
- 17:32Speaker 1: about the derby. I do want to talk about we
- 17:35Speaker 1: didn't get talked about last week, about the NCAA going
- 17:38Speaker 1: up to seventy six teams in March madness. Yeah, we'll
- 17:42Speaker 1: talk about that, but uh and then uh, there's a
- 17:45Speaker 1: couple of other things. Evidently somebody, a couple of people went
- 17:50Speaker 1: to a concert in Knoxville, Tennessee, and and shot gunned
- 17:56Speaker 1: a beer. I want to talk about that as well.
- 17:59Speaker 1: So Babo two three eight four fourteen fifty, you want
- 18:01Speaker 1: to call in five oh two four one four fourteen
- 18:04Speaker 1: fifty if you want to text in on the Whiskey
- 18:07Speaker 1: t text line of ran into Walters Auche. It is
- 18:10Speaker 1: funny how you know you have a huge place that
- 18:12Speaker 1: you're at and Walters Aush is the owner and distiller
- 18:15Speaker 1: of Whiskey Tea. But you know, you're amongst one hundred
- 18:19Speaker 1: and fifty thousand people, and the amount of people I
- 18:22Speaker 1: ran into, I just don't understand. I know I know
- 18:25Speaker 1: some people, but I didn't know I knew this many people.
- 18:28Speaker 1: And to run into them when you're amongst one hundred
- 18:30Speaker 1: and fifty thousand people, it's kind of crazy. It's fun.
- 18:32Speaker 1: It is fun. It is but exhausting fun. But I
- 18:36Speaker 1: loved it. Anyway, I'm sorry, it's over all right. Let's
- 18:39Speaker 1: go ahead and take our first break. We'll get we
- 18:41Speaker 1: will get to your text today. You you text me
- 18:45Speaker 1: in I'm going to read every single one of them.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I promise. I have them all pulled up. We'll get
- 18:50Speaker 1: to them as soon as we get back, and I
- 18:52Speaker 1: will talk about the yoaks. Anyway, stay right there a
- 18:55Speaker 1: lot more justin kats. We're in town, and plus we're
- 18:58Speaker 1: on YouTube. We'll see this.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Little refrain should help me explain.
- 19:05Speaker 1: As a matter fact, I like beer.
- 19:09Speaker 3: My wife Robin Browns, when we're out on the town
- 19:13Speaker 3: and I'm wearing a suit and a tie, she's sitting
- 19:18Speaker 3: bird moved and she thinks Simon uncool when I yell
- 19:23Speaker 3: as the waiter goes by, I like beer.
- 19:37Speaker 1: I want to tell you a story about the house
- 19:40Speaker 1: when blue I come home on Friday. How to tell
- 19:47Speaker 1: the land lady I I lost my job.
- 19:51Speaker 2: She said that, don't in frount me as long as
- 19:54Speaker 2: I get my money next Friday.
- 19:57Speaker 1: No, next Friday, come out, didn't get the rent the door?
- 20:00Speaker 1: I went see. I like this song. I like George.
- 20:09Speaker 1: The sad part about it. It's such a long intro.
- 20:11Speaker 1: We don't get to hear the best part. We'll hear. Okay, good,
- 20:15Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to whatever happened to George Thurger Is he?
- 20:19Speaker 1: Is he still alive? Is he still around? That's a
- 20:21Speaker 1: great question. I have no idea, but I guess no. Oh,
- 20:26Speaker 1: you think he's gone. I think he's still alive. All right,
- 20:29Speaker 1: let's find out. So I went to dinner last night,
- 20:32Speaker 1: letter with us he I was gonna say, I think
- 20:35Speaker 1: he is. How old is he? Seventy six? See, that's
- 20:37Speaker 1: not that terribly old, especially since I'm getting closer to it.
- 20:42Speaker 1: But uh, there'll be a day when you like, I'll
- 20:44Speaker 1: never forget. When I was in high school, I used
- 20:46Speaker 1: to think thirty was so old same, And I'm like,
- 20:50Speaker 1: I wish I was thirty right now. But uh uh,
- 20:53Speaker 1: somebody told me last night, Well, I had some really
- 20:55Speaker 1: good friends I ran into last night at dinner and
- 20:58Speaker 1: they were on their way to see the Black Keys,
- 21:01Speaker 1: and I was so young. Huh and you weren't. No,
- 21:05Speaker 1: I didn't even know they were in town. This is
- 21:09Speaker 1: like the worst night to have a concert, the Saturday
- 21:12Speaker 1: after derby weekend or Sunday. Don't you think that's like
- 21:17Speaker 1: the worst time to have a concert.
- 21:20Speaker 2: I mean you would think because there's not You wouldn't
- 21:23Speaker 2: think it'd be heavily attended because everybody so wore.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Out it was at the Palace. I would like to
- 21:28Speaker 1: know what if somebody out there went to the Black
- 21:30Speaker 1: Keys last night, let me know and let me know
- 21:33Speaker 1: how it was and was it well attended, because I'm
- 21:35Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my gosh, I didn't know they were
- 21:38Speaker 1: in town number one And I would have loved to
- 21:40Speaker 1: have gone, but I think I would have been too tired.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Would you have gone last night? No way? Because why?
- 21:45Speaker 1: I mean I didn't. Maybe I would have because I
- 21:47Speaker 1: didn't go to the derby on Saturday. Okay, that's different.
- 21:50Speaker 1: I had that extra day to rest. Yeah, all right,
- 21:52Speaker 1: So let me ask you this, what did you think
- 21:55Speaker 1: about the oaks? Did you did it bother you? Well?
- 22:00Speaker 1: What was you think? What do you think the consensus
- 22:02Speaker 1: was on the city on the first Oaks being at
- 22:07Speaker 1: eight forty at night according to nine And do you
- 22:10Speaker 1: think it'll continue?
- 22:13Speaker 2: I think it definitely will continue, just because of the
- 22:16Speaker 2: number of eyeballs that were on it. But from my perspective,
- 22:20Speaker 2: so I was telling you in that last break, I
- 22:22Speaker 2: left after the tenth race, right, I didn't want to
- 22:24Speaker 2: mess with all that. I was not trying to get
- 22:27Speaker 2: home at nine to ten o'clock whenever it.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Would have been.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Yeah, So I left, and when I was on the
- 22:32Speaker 2: media shuttle heading back to the Expo Center, the amount
- 22:37Speaker 2: of people that were also leaving and walking down the sidewalks.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Was astonish, exactly. That's the part that bothered me. So
- 22:46Speaker 1: I ran into one of the key people at Churchill
- 22:49Speaker 1: Downs will remain nameless, okay, but that was the big
- 22:54Speaker 1: concern because I would say probably tenth eleventh race people
- 23:02Speaker 1: just started leaving.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Now at the same time when I was driving or
- 23:06Speaker 2: when I was riding back, there were also a ton
- 23:09Speaker 2: of people walking towards the track.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I don't think they were going in. There's maybe not.
- 23:14Speaker 1: But the concern that a few of the key people
- 23:18Speaker 1: at Churchill Downs were having is the fact that there
- 23:22Speaker 1: were now not just a few empty seats, but a
- 23:26Speaker 1: lot of empty seats. So I can say that you
- 23:31Speaker 1: know they're concerned about what it would appear on television,
- 23:35Speaker 1: the appearance of having empty seats.
- 23:38Speaker 2: It was I didn't I didn't think that played. Okay,
- 23:42Speaker 2: I was not watching the broadcast thinking whoa look at
- 23:45Speaker 2: all those people that left.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Now, because you know how they do it with like
- 23:49Speaker 1: baseball or football games, They never panned back or they
- 23:54Speaker 1: only time you can see how much how many people
- 23:56Speaker 1: are in the crowd is when they do a kickoff
- 23:59Speaker 1: or a punt and that's it. But they try to
- 24:01Speaker 1: have a close up on the field, so you don't
- 24:04Speaker 1: see how many people are the lack thereof just watching
- 24:07Speaker 1: a few teams on the UFL right now when it's
- 24:09Speaker 1: an empty stadum, they are really close up on the players.
- 24:13Speaker 1: You know.
- 24:13Speaker 2: My only complaint that I have about Churchill from this weekend, yes,
- 24:17Speaker 2: the freaking lines for the damn dessert. All I wanted
- 24:22Speaker 2: was some freaking cheesecake on a stick.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Oh man, everybody, I don't get it. That in the
- 24:28Speaker 1: chocolate cover strawberries. I do not. Honestly, I don't get it.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Because you're right. That is the one line that is
- 24:35Speaker 1: probably all the way backed up to Jeffersonville. It doesn't matter,
- 24:38Speaker 1: go ahead and say it.
- 24:39Speaker 2: It doesn't matter when you You can go during a race,
- 24:41Speaker 2: you can go right after a race, you can go
- 24:43Speaker 2: right before a race. There's gonna be a line of
- 24:45Speaker 2: about forty people. And it was so annoying because I
- 24:48Speaker 2: got everything I wanted from a food perspective, but I
- 24:52Speaker 2: never could freaking get cheese stick hard past.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I was not interested. I will say the food's good.
- 24:58Speaker 1: You know, everything's included. I do think that Churchill Downs
- 25:02Speaker 1: does a pretty good job at that. I do think
- 25:04Speaker 1: you can. Yeah, but I listen. I knew a bunch
- 25:09Speaker 1: of people that left and didn't intend the yolks. I think.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I think the viewership went up. I think attendance went
- 25:16Speaker 1: down as far as uh people staying for the actual rate.
- 25:21Speaker 2: But isn't that what they want? Isn't that why they
- 25:23Speaker 2: made this move to get more view balls on TV?
- 25:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not going anywhere. And honestly, the derby is
- 25:30Speaker 1: probably gonna do the same thing, right I tell you.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Oh well, I man, I hope not it is, I
- 25:37Speaker 1: guarantee it. Well, you know, if restaurants are going to
- 25:40Speaker 1: continue to have a problem with this, just switch it.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Here's what you need to do. Instead of having a
- 25:45Speaker 1: big dinner, as far as the dinner crowd, have a
- 25:51Speaker 1: brunch crowd. Yeah, so that's what the restaurants. So all
- 25:54Speaker 1: the restaurants that are complaining, just have a dinner a
- 25:58Speaker 1: brunch crowd. That's all I gotta do, no big deal.
- 26:01Speaker 1: But there will still be people that don't go to
- 26:03Speaker 1: the track of wanting to go to your restaurant. Sure.
- 26:06Speaker 1: So anyway, all right, let's go to a couple of
- 26:08Speaker 1: text five h two four one four fourteen fifty one
- 26:11Speaker 1: Texters said, Sovereignty you would have won triple Crown last
- 26:14Speaker 1: year but opted out of Preatinus. Was this for you?
- 26:18Speaker 1: Maybe I agree with it either way. Yeah, Sovereignty would
- 26:21Speaker 1: have won all three races, no doubt. Yeah, it would
- 26:24Speaker 1: not have been journalism that won the Preatness last year.
- 26:28Speaker 1: But I mean I respect what he did because he
- 26:32Speaker 1: was doing what was the next Bill Mott who was
- 26:34Speaker 1: doing the right thing.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Any chance golden tempo sip sits out this next race.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I want to get to that in a few minutes.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Hold on because that's one of my topics as well.
- 26:44Speaker 1: I think that's a great question. One person said Matt
- 26:47Speaker 1: Deaner at THRBY. And met Deaner at Thrby and he
- 26:52Speaker 1: couldn't have been nicer. Thank you. We briefly shared a
- 26:55Speaker 1: stand up table. I want to race off his shared
- 26:59Speaker 1: picks bet the in for the paper ticket. He was polite,
- 27:02Speaker 1: cordial and inviting. He asked engaging questions. I worked in
- 27:05Speaker 1: Simpsonville now and used to work at the YMCA, and
- 27:10Speaker 1: I'd see him at the Turkey truck, but I never
- 27:12Speaker 1: introduced myself. I'm I'm glad I did. I won Thursday
- 27:16Speaker 1: and Saturday. Again. Very nice to meet you. Think he
- 27:20Speaker 1: meant to send that to the other station. Yeah, okay,
- 27:24Speaker 1: well thank you for that. I'm glad you met somebody
- 27:27Speaker 1: at another radio station and he was very nice. Great
- 27:31Speaker 1: to hear that. We're all really nice. Newsflash. Well, well
- 27:36Speaker 1: can you I mean, wait a minute, wait a minue,
- 27:38Speaker 1: wait a minute, at this station, I would agree no, I'd
- 27:40Speaker 1: say no.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Nine point two percent of media. Of people that work
- 27:46Speaker 2: in radio are very nice.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Extremely but there is one that everybody knows has a
- 27:52Speaker 1: problem with me. I never had a problem with him
- 27:55Speaker 1: until he had a problem with me. Yeah he is. Uh,
- 27:58Speaker 1: he's a weird even still him.
- 27:59Speaker 2: If you'd didn't know him and you just went up
- 28:02Speaker 2: and had a conversation, I'm sure you would think he
- 28:04Speaker 2: was nice. Okay, if there wasn't all the history, No.
- 28:08Speaker 1: No, I would not. First interaction with him was weird. No, okay,
- 28:14Speaker 1: my very first interaction with him was odd. And then
- 28:19Speaker 1: the other guy that used to co host a show
- 28:21Speaker 1: with me for two weeks, he was weird completely. He's like,
- 28:27Speaker 1: you've listened to me on the radio? No I have it.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Aren't you a Bengals fan? Yes? I love the Bengals.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Well I did a post pre and postgame show. You
- 28:35Speaker 1: didn't listen to me? No, okay whatever? Uh. One person
- 28:42Speaker 1: texted in this past derby has made me realize realize
- 28:46Speaker 1: that I'm getting older. A couple of years ago, I
- 28:48Speaker 1: was pounding mint julips like there was no tomorrow Saturday.
- 28:51Speaker 1: I had won and a half before switching to water. Wow.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Oh that's not good. I'm so sorry to hear that,
- 28:58Speaker 1: but yeah, I had a few. Okay, my wife said, Michael,
- 29:03Speaker 1: I'm going to pace you because she knows what a
- 29:05Speaker 1: lightweight I am. You just give me one drink and
- 29:07Speaker 1: I'm out. But she gave Are you ready for what drink?
- 29:11Speaker 1: She gave me first, Lily, No, no, I can't do
- 29:15Speaker 1: the vodka. No, I would be out with that. She
- 29:19Speaker 1: gave me a wine sprintzer. There you go, I know.
- 29:22Speaker 1: I asked her, did it come with a training braw
- 29:24Speaker 1: but uh no, I just I looked at that, and
- 29:26Speaker 1: I'm like, Okay, that's kind of good. I like that.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Give me another one. Then you and I are different.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I started the day with a Woodford on the rocks.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Did you really? Actually, they can't do on the rocks anymore.
- 29:37Speaker 2: So I had to have a splash something, so I
- 29:40Speaker 2: told him to just put the smaller splash of spride
- 29:42Speaker 2: in then that they possibly could.
- 29:44Speaker 1: I didn't even taste the spride.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Why can't they do I don't know? She said they
- 29:48Speaker 2: started that last year. This was the second year that
- 29:51Speaker 2: they can't do it on the rocks anymore, which has
- 29:53Speaker 2: a bummer because that's how I enjoy it.
- 29:55Speaker 1: That makes zero So they want you to get it
- 29:57Speaker 1: diluted basically, so you're not getting ham Okay, that's just whatever.
- 30:02Speaker 1: I mean, everybody's getting hammered out there anyway, come on.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Uh so, yeah, I went from spritzer to beer beer
- 30:14Speaker 1: to mint julip. I'm am I one of the few
- 30:19Speaker 1: that loves mint jewelib No. I think they're deliverous, awesome,
- 30:24Speaker 1: and I think they do a really nice job of
- 30:26Speaker 1: making at Churchill Downs. Now well, I mean, all they're
- 30:28Speaker 1: doing is pouring it out of the bottle. They are,
- 30:31Speaker 1: But it's good. Whatever brand that is. I think it's okay.
- 30:35Speaker 1: I think Old Forrester does a great job. Now the
- 30:38Speaker 1: part that didn't sit well with me, you have to
- 30:40Speaker 1: pay for the Derby glasses this year. I didn't. Oh
- 30:43Speaker 1: you didn't. You had to You got them for free. Yep, okay,
- 30:45Speaker 1: oh there you go.
- 30:47Speaker 2: That's also another reason I didn't go back on Saturday.
- 30:49Speaker 2: I was able to get mine on Friday.
- 30:50Speaker 1: I was in the poor man's section, you were in
- 30:52Speaker 1: the ritzy one, and Justin Caylin. Just to let you know,
- 30:56Speaker 1: Justin Klin is in the ritzy section. He was the
- 30:59Speaker 1: one that was in the food pod section. That's you know, Hey,
- 31:02Speaker 1: did you wear something nice Friday? I did? Would you wear?
- 31:07Speaker 2: I wore some black slacks, some nice dress shoes, a
- 31:11Speaker 2: polo in a three quarter.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Z really okay? Good? No tie, no jacket.
- 31:16Speaker 2: If I would have went on Saturday, I would have
- 31:18Speaker 2: want I would have worn a tie. But that was
- 31:20Speaker 2: also yet another reason why I didn't want to go,
- 31:22Speaker 2: because I just didn't feel like dressing up.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Why don't you feel like dressing up? I mean, I
- 31:26Speaker 1: feel like society does not dress up anymore. I love
- 31:30Speaker 1: to dress up. I'm because I don't dress up as
- 31:33Speaker 1: much as I used to.
- 31:34Speaker 2: I like dressing up if I've got plenty of dress
- 31:36Speaker 2: up options to go with, but I am severely overweight
- 31:40Speaker 2: by my standard alsop, I'm not. I don't a lot
- 31:43Speaker 2: of my clothes don't fit anymore.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Sorry about that? Okay, yeah, well, okay, I'm sorry to
- 31:50Speaker 1: hear that. I'll tell you what was funny. So one
- 31:54Speaker 1: of my really good friends that we were with on
- 31:58Speaker 1: Friday and Saturdayames Logan Pichelle, and his wife Dixie, we're
- 32:02Speaker 1: out there with us. His wife's name is Dixie. Yes,
- 32:04Speaker 1: And the funny part is she's from Michigan. She's not
- 32:07Speaker 1: even from the South. But her name is Dixie. If
- 32:10Speaker 1: you ever met her, you would never forget her. Logan
- 32:12Speaker 1: Pichelle is the president of Republic Bank. We're out there
- 32:19Speaker 1: and they're proud of their outfit because Dixie has on
- 32:22Speaker 1: this really nice looking lily pulletzer dress. Logan has a
- 32:26Speaker 1: lily pulletzer that matches exactly. Tie and you know how
- 32:30Speaker 1: you put the handkerchief in the jacket, he had that
- 32:33Speaker 1: that matched her dress. Michael Bennett shows up. He has
- 32:38Speaker 1: on the same pattern pants as both of them. Oh
- 32:41Speaker 1: my gosh, oh yes, and so we had to get
- 32:43Speaker 1: a picture. So I had on the same pants as
- 32:46Speaker 1: his wife's dress and his and his tie. Do you
- 32:49Speaker 1: and Patricia Gill matching? No, No, she's we're not doing that. Yeah,
- 32:54Speaker 1: we do not ride the short bus, so we know
- 32:57Speaker 1: and we will never do anything like that person sept
- 33:01Speaker 1: I kept thinking they were saying the trainer was Marie
- 33:06Speaker 1: Marie Levo figures she looked used voodoo to win the
- 33:11Speaker 1: derby Marie Leva that I have done that many times
- 33:19Speaker 1: when you can't understand what they're saying, and I'll say completely,
- 33:23Speaker 1: I'll do it when somebody I I met somebody this morning,
- 33:27Speaker 1: I could not, and of course I don't remember his
- 33:30Speaker 1: name anymore. He's the trainer that took over for tom Amos.
- 33:34Speaker 1: He introduced himself to me, and I still can't remember
- 33:37Speaker 1: his name, and I kept saying it the wrong way.
- 33:40Speaker 1: But that's funny that you thought Scherie Devo's name was
- 33:44Speaker 1: Marie Levo. That's gonna stick in my head. And now
- 33:48Speaker 1: when I go up to see Scherie, I'm gonna call
- 33:50Speaker 1: her Marie. Do you know who Marie Leva was? I
- 33:53Speaker 1: have no idea who Marie Levo is? She someone famous?
- 33:56Speaker 2: She was a Louisiana Creole practitioner of voo oh.
- 34:00Speaker 1: That's why he said figure she used voodoo to win
- 34:03Speaker 1: the Derby. Do you believe in voodoo? Not really. No,
- 34:10Speaker 1: I'm not gonna sit here and say I don't believe
- 34:13Speaker 1: it because I'm worried some person's out there gonna put
- 34:16Speaker 1: some voodoo spell on me. So I'm gonna say I
- 34:18Speaker 1: believe in voodoo.
- 34:19Speaker 2: I mean, I'm not gonna sit here and say that.
- 34:21Speaker 2: I'm throwing it out completely. But no, I don't think I.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Believe in it. That's a great text, by the way.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Forty eight Handley said there was a highly visible incident
- 34:31Speaker 1: just a few years ago in the British Cup where
- 34:34Speaker 1: Johnny v was on a mare for Todd Pletcher who
- 34:39Speaker 1: wasn't warming up so well. She was one of two favorites.
- 34:44Speaker 1: You see this, this thing's flipping around. I don't get it.
- 34:47Speaker 1: She was she Where is it now? See? She was
- 34:50Speaker 1: one of the two favorites, so there was a lot
- 34:53Speaker 1: of money ragered she started and didn't run a jump,
- 34:56Speaker 1: basically eased. Should the writer have reached out to state
- 35:02Speaker 1: to the state that if all right, all right, let
- 35:07Speaker 1: me ask you that, because I think that's let's leave
- 35:09Speaker 1: the people's name out of this. Do you think if
- 35:14Speaker 1: the jockey is on a horse and they notice something
- 35:17Speaker 1: is off, like in the Derby are one of the
- 35:22Speaker 1: really big races, do you think the jockey should say
- 35:25Speaker 1: something because they notice that this horse seems a little off.
- 35:30Speaker 2: See I'm torn on that, because these jockeys are getting
- 35:34Speaker 2: a paycheck, right, and then the better their horse does,
- 35:38Speaker 2: the more money they're gonna make. But there's also the
- 35:42Speaker 2: ethical side of it, where if you are a jockey,
- 35:46Speaker 2: us as horse racing fans and the horse racing industry
- 35:50Speaker 2: as a whole. They have to be able to trust
- 35:52Speaker 2: the jockey in those situations. So I'm gonna go with yes,
- 35:56Speaker 2: the jockey should have to say something.
- 35:58Speaker 1: See I am too. But he goes on to say
- 36:01Speaker 1: if he does, if the horse does scratch because of
- 36:04Speaker 1: the jockey saying something, where does that put the jockey
- 36:07Speaker 1: with the trainer? Does that threaten the jockey getting any
- 36:12Speaker 1: more mounts with the trainer? Yeah, I mean that's something
- 36:16Speaker 1: you gotta think about. It is something yet, but but
- 36:18Speaker 1: you know, is it about the horse or is it
- 36:20Speaker 1: about only getting more mounts? And to me, you gotta
- 36:24Speaker 1: say something. If you truly love these horses, you got
- 36:28Speaker 1: to say something and say, listen, I'm sorry your horse
- 36:31Speaker 1: is getting scratched. He took a misstep. Something's off well.
- 36:34Speaker 2: And if the trainer and the owner love these horses
- 36:36Speaker 2: the way they say they do, they want to care
- 36:38Speaker 2: about them, then right then they're gonna be okay with
- 36:40Speaker 2: the jockey.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Exactly because he says gambling drives a sport. People have
- 36:44Speaker 1: to know their money is on a horse who isn't compromised.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Forty eight Handley, I think that's a great question. I
- 36:51Speaker 1: love your comment about that because you're exactly correct. But anyway,
- 36:56Speaker 1: all right, we gotta take another break. I'll get to
- 36:58Speaker 1: your text more more of your text tunes. We get back, uh,
- 37:01Speaker 1: but I want to get back to talking about Golden Temple.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Is it going to the breakness or not? We'll talk
- 37:06Speaker 1: about that. We got some UK news as well, and
- 37:11Speaker 1: then we got to talk about who's chugging beers out there?
- 37:13Speaker 1: I do love this so five O two three eight
- 37:16Speaker 1: four fourteen fifty. You want to call it five two
- 37:18Speaker 1: four one four fourteen fifty. You want to text in
- 37:20Speaker 1: on the Whiskey t text line, or you can watch
- 37:22Speaker 1: us right there on YouTube. All you gotta do is
- 37:24Speaker 1: go to YouTube and search for Big Sports Radio Louis
- 37:28Speaker 1: stay right there. More to count a little man, come
- 37:33Speaker 1: down here? You got down there? So what you want?
- 37:37Speaker 1: A la bourbon lawn beer?
- 37:45Speaker 2: I seem my baby, since I don't know when I
- 37:48Speaker 2: haven't drinking burg.
- 37:49Speaker 1: And whisky beautifully? Are you in ten five minutes past?
- 38:12Speaker 1: Bitch at the time, have love scramming to that truck
- 38:16Speaker 1: of my peg and no attention to the highways signs
- 38:20Speaker 1: in nour Jordia County. That's something about Clint Black that
- 38:26Speaker 1: just makes me happy. You know, I don't listen as
- 38:30Speaker 1: you know, too much country music. Brook Oh it is?
- 38:33Speaker 1: Oh sorry, that's Garth Brooks. It sounds like Glynn black Well. Okay,
- 38:36Speaker 1: that takes you right there. I don't know country music. Okay,
- 38:39Speaker 1: it's because he has a lot of beer songs. Is
- 38:43Speaker 1: he still around, by the way to Garth Brooks, yeah,
- 38:45Speaker 1: fair much so. I have no idea killing it? Is
- 38:48Speaker 1: he killing it? Really? I just wish he would release
- 38:51Speaker 1: his music other than that killing it? What do you
- 38:53Speaker 1: mean release his music? How's he killing it? If he's not?
- 38:55Speaker 2: So you We talked about this last week. You're an
- 38:58Speaker 2: Apple Music, Apple Music, right, Yes, you can't find Garth
- 39:03Speaker 2: Brooks on Apple Music. You can't find Garth Brooks on Spotify.
- 39:06Speaker 2: I can't find Garth Brooks on YouTube.
- 39:08Speaker 1: Okay.
- 39:09Speaker 2: He will not release his music catalog for anybody else
- 39:12Speaker 2: to be able to use.
- 39:13Speaker 1: It's so annoying. Why is that? I have no idea.
- 39:18Speaker 1: I mean to me, that hurts his product, which is
- 39:21Speaker 1: him interesting? You would think? Okay, yeah, I mean he'll.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Released at the radio stations that play it. But that's
- 39:28Speaker 2: about it.
- 39:29Speaker 1: Oh, then he's going to be forgotten about. No way,
- 39:32Speaker 1: He's one of you don't think that was one of
- 39:33Speaker 1: the greatest ever? Do it? Okay if you say so? Uh.
- 39:36Speaker 1: One person texted in said long text coming, please bear
- 39:40Speaker 1: with me? Oh boy, are you ready? Sit back enjoy.
- 39:44Speaker 1: They will keep the oaks late because of the viewership
- 39:46Speaker 1: and handle being so huge. Scoots. The dessert lines were
- 39:51Speaker 1: forever long because they don't have enough of those and
- 39:54Speaker 1: need to change that. I was shocked to see people
- 39:57Speaker 1: leaving the infield by hundreds at around seven pm. It
- 40:02Speaker 1: could be because the price out there are is out
- 40:07Speaker 1: there are subsidizing the all inclusive experience across the track. Well,
- 40:13Speaker 1: they had a big stage out there. I don't know
- 40:15Speaker 1: who the acts were, do you. I didn't even know
- 40:18Speaker 1: they did shows out there. Oh yeah, I mean it
- 40:20Speaker 1: was all right if you're facing the if you're on
- 40:25Speaker 1: the stand side, clubhouse, grand stand side. The stage was
- 40:29Speaker 1: over to the far left. Yeah, I saw the stage, Okay.
- 40:32Speaker 1: I didn't know that they did performances or anything out there. Oh,
- 40:35Speaker 1: I assume that's what the stage was. Yeah, what else
- 40:38Speaker 1: would it be for people to go up there to stay?
- 40:40Speaker 1: Wats the horse race there?
- 40:41Speaker 2: It's a good point they're out there doing Hamilton. I
- 40:46Speaker 2: can watch Hamilton in the middle of races.
- 40:48Speaker 1: I don't know. That would be awesome if they had
- 40:50Speaker 1: a musical going on in between the Oh, we gotta
- 40:54Speaker 1: pause right now because we've got a horse race going on,
- 40:56Speaker 1: and as soon as the race is going on, you
- 40:58Speaker 1: get Hamilton doing his long solo. That would be awesome. No,
- 41:03Speaker 1: they're not going to do that. But I don't know
- 41:07Speaker 1: if you think that the infield is subsidizing the other side. No,
- 41:12Speaker 1: as much as the other side is paying for their tickets,
- 41:14Speaker 1: they're believing they're paying for everything.
- 41:17Speaker 2: I mean, I would, I don't think the text is
- 41:20Speaker 2: that far off. You don't because in the if you
- 41:23Speaker 2: go over to the infield, you've got to pay twenty
- 41:25Speaker 2: two bucks for a Mintjulip for crying out.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Loud, twenty two dollars for twenty.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Two dollars, Yeah, I mean it's ridiculous. How much as
- 41:33Speaker 2: a beer I want to say eighteen Maybe I don't know.
- 41:38Speaker 2: I don't remember seeing the beer. So but either way,
- 41:41Speaker 2: they're they're obviously making some money, but they're not. I
- 41:46Speaker 2: don't think they're subsidizing the whole front side.
- 41:48Speaker 1: All right, somebody that was in the infield text me
- 41:50Speaker 1: how much the beer was over there and a mint juelps,
- 41:53Speaker 1: But you said mint julbs are twenty two twenty two.
- 41:56Speaker 1: You gotta believe that beer was that much too. So
- 41:58Speaker 1: you're looking at close to let's just say it was
- 42:01Speaker 1: fifteen dollars for a beer, and you know people are
- 42:04Speaker 1: drinking a bunch of them. You're looking at one hundred
- 42:07Speaker 1: and fifty dollars for ten beers. That's a lot of money.
- 42:12Speaker 1: And how much was it taken to get into the infield?
- 42:15Speaker 1: Isn't it only like sixty or something? I think it's
- 42:17Speaker 1: more than that. Do you like the fact they close
- 42:21Speaker 1: it off to where you know, before people in the
- 42:24Speaker 1: infield could go over to the paddock area and walk
- 42:28Speaker 1: around the clubhouse and the grand stands. They couldn't get
- 42:31Speaker 1: up on the third floor, but they could walk around
- 42:34Speaker 1: outside the paddock. Now they are not allowed to do that. Really?
- 42:39Speaker 1: Does that bother you? Not? Really?
- 42:41Speaker 2: Because I mean, how would they control that, Like, especially
- 42:44Speaker 2: with the whole front side being all inclusive, you would
- 42:47Speaker 2: have people from the infield coming over and taking advantage
- 42:50Speaker 2: of that. Now I can go I could have went
- 42:53Speaker 2: to the infield from where I was at.
- 42:55Speaker 1: You could have gone yes, because I did that last year. Yeah,
- 42:59Speaker 1: well you had your media pass, that's why.
- 43:02Speaker 2: But I mean, I feel like they'll let anybody from
- 43:04Speaker 2: the front side over to the infield because it's like
- 43:06Speaker 2: you're not.
- 43:07Speaker 1: No, they don't let you from the front side to
- 43:09Speaker 1: go to the infield any or either. Yeah, because my
- 43:11Speaker 1: boys were really upset they wanted to go see some
- 43:13Speaker 1: of their friends of the infield. Huh, so nobody is
- 43:17Speaker 1: allowed to go between the two spots. I should have tried. Really. No,
- 43:21Speaker 1: Now see, you could have because your media pass. I
- 43:23Speaker 1: think you could have without any issue. One person said, Funny,
- 43:27Speaker 1: I was out at the track for thirty two hours
- 43:29Speaker 1: on oaksande Derby and the only horses I saw were
- 43:31Speaker 1: the mounted patrol drinking mint. Julips are for the tourist.
- 43:37Speaker 1: No it's not. I'm born and raised here Jamie and
- 43:40Speaker 1: I love them and Julup. There's a song about Marie
- 43:44Speaker 1: Levo another man done gone. Look it up. You want
- 43:49Speaker 1: to look that up. I've never heard of that. I
- 43:52Speaker 1: don't funny this. It is interesting. I have never heard
- 43:56Speaker 1: of Marie Levo. Is she still alive? No way, so
- 44:01Speaker 1: she's long gone. Yeah, you mean her voodoo didn't save
- 44:04Speaker 1: her from dying.
- 44:05Speaker 2: I think she was like seventeenth century. Yes, oh she is.
- 44:07Speaker 2: She was born in eighteen oh one.
- 44:09Speaker 1: Well, I don't think. Why isn't she alive? IMNA guess
- 44:11Speaker 1: that she's no longer? I mean the guy from the
- 44:13Speaker 1: Green Mile is still alive, Tom.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Hanks, she died in eighty one, so so much for
- 44:17Speaker 2: the voodoo only gave her eighty nineteen eighty one?
- 44:20Speaker 1: Correct? Yeah, okay, yeah, why didn't the voo? So if
- 44:23Speaker 1: you're a firm believer of voodoo, why didn't her voodoo
- 44:26Speaker 1: work on keeping her alive? Or does it only work
- 44:28Speaker 1: on evil? Maybe only evil? I don't know. Yeah, are
- 44:32Speaker 1: you into the uh? May the Fourth be with you? No?
- 44:35Speaker 1: Are you not? Really? I've never seen a single second
- 44:37Speaker 1: of Star Wars. You've never watched any of the Star Wars?
- 44:42Speaker 1: I have not. Wow, Okay, that's that is amazing to me.
- 44:45Speaker 1: I watched the original. You love it?
- 44:49Speaker 2: Witch, Give me a little charm that'll make me rich.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Terrible that it is terrible? Who sings that? It doesn't
- 44:58Speaker 1: really say? Oh it doesn't. Oh my, that sounds creepy.
- 45:02Speaker 1: Oh really, okay, it's not that. DJ denn In Nashville
- 45:06Speaker 1: Bobby Something. Yeah, I know one of our guests knows
- 45:10Speaker 1: that DJ. And I'm like, who is that guy? He goes,
- 45:12Speaker 1: You don't know who this guy? Bobby Bear. What's the
- 45:15Speaker 1: DJ's name down there? I don't know. That's so famous?
- 45:18Speaker 1: Bbby Bones, that's it Bobby And I'm like, no, who
- 45:21Speaker 1: is Bobby Bones? He goes, he's on the radio? Is
- 45:24Speaker 1: like really popular? Popular? Oh? Is he really? Is he funny?
- 45:29Speaker 1: He can be? I don't know.
- 45:31Speaker 2: I'm kind of hot and cold on Bobby Bones. There's
- 45:33Speaker 2: some days I think that that show's good. In other
- 45:35Speaker 2: days I'm like, Eh, this is this is lame?
- 45:37Speaker 1: Okay. One person said the Infield isn't the fun times
- 45:41Speaker 1: of old anymore. They sanitized it too much since the
- 45:44Speaker 1: early two thousand. Mint is a good way to ruin
- 45:47Speaker 1: good bourbon. Man. That's quite a take. You just can't disagree. Like,
- 45:52Speaker 1: I know, there's nothing like, you know, a little powdered
- 45:55Speaker 1: sugar mint. I love it. Gro So, I'm sorry Texter
- 45:59Speaker 1: you feel that way, but it's it's one of my favorites.
- 46:02Speaker 1: It just is and it'll continue to be. So all right,
- 46:05Speaker 1: we gotta take a break. We are going to talk
- 46:07Speaker 1: about some UK when we get back. I promise you that.
- 46:09Speaker 1: And then who's chugging beer sand in Knoxville, Tennessee as well?
- 46:12Speaker 1: Fable two three eight four fourteen fifty five oh two
- 46:15Speaker 1: four one four fourteen fifty one text on the Whiskey
- 46:18Speaker 1: th text line. Let me know how much beer was
- 46:20Speaker 1: over there? I do want to know. We'll see in
- 46:21Speaker 1: a minute. I'm a braggin and a caroen all wagon.
- 46:31Speaker 1: I guess half a dozen cases do is in the
- 46:33Speaker 1: last setur long? Come tomorrow morning, it'll.
- 46:36Speaker 4: Be welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 46:47Speaker 1: Fave O two three four fourteen fifty. If we want
- 46:49Speaker 1: to call in Fable two four one four fourteen fifty
- 46:51Speaker 1: you want to text in on the Whiskey Thief text line,
- 46:53Speaker 1: or you can tweak me at Just the Cat Radio.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Or you can also join us on YouTube. If you
- 46:57Speaker 1: want to do that, all you gotta do is go
- 46:59Speaker 1: to YouTube and search Big X Sports Radio Louisville. All right,
- 47:03Speaker 1: I should say for those of you out of town
- 47:05Speaker 1: Louisville as pope, say that my dad did he lived
- 47:10Speaker 1: here four over sixty years. No, your dad was wrong.
- 47:13Speaker 1: Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, and he still said,
- 47:15Speaker 1: where are you from? Louisville is what he would always say.
- 47:18Speaker 1: It's like, please stop saying that it's Louisville. I mean,
- 47:22Speaker 1: my goodness, you're a southern town. It's Louisville anyway, you know.
- 47:26Speaker 1: I did. I did make a point asking a lot
- 47:28Speaker 1: of people if they thought Louisville was a southern town
- 47:31Speaker 1: or a midwestern town or a northern town. And I
- 47:33Speaker 1: had more people tell me they believe Louisville's a southern town.
- 47:36Speaker 1: It's ridiculous. Yeah, no it's not. It's the way it is.
- 47:39Speaker 1: It's a southern town. Do we have many people on
- 47:42Speaker 1: the YouTube right now? We've got sixteen views today. Oh,
- 47:46Speaker 1: only one right now though. Oh that's too bad. I
- 47:48Speaker 1: guess because we went to break. We'll come join us.
- 47:50Speaker 1: But I haven't heard yet about the beer. I'm dying
- 47:53Speaker 1: to hear about the beer. Yes, you have heard, I have, okay,
- 47:56Speaker 1: thirteen dollars. Oh that's right, thirteen dollars. Nick Rouse texted
- 48:00Speaker 1: into you so perfect. One person said, I think Churchill
- 48:04Speaker 1: is on uh in over its head. People paid a
- 48:08Speaker 1: lot of money for inclusive food and drinks, and lines
- 48:11Speaker 1: were long, and they ran out of food. Really, they
- 48:15Speaker 1: ran out of Dike Coke. I know that. And they
- 48:18Speaker 1: ran out of food. That's the crazy part. It's like,
- 48:20Speaker 1: what are you doing? You know, you're having a big,
- 48:22Speaker 1: big event. They do a phenomenal job. And the other
- 48:26Speaker 1: part that I really enjoy that they do, Justin, is
- 48:29Speaker 1: they get you in and out of there. Now. My
- 48:32Speaker 1: only complaint was I was trying to find this one
- 48:35Speaker 1: parking lot of Churchill Downs. Nobody knew where it was
- 48:38Speaker 1: and I had to find I drove around Churchill Downs
- 48:41Speaker 1: again on Friday trying to find where my parking lot
- 48:45Speaker 1: is and nobody knew where it was. That's drove be nuts.
- 48:48Speaker 1: We have a call, all right, five two, three, eight, four,
- 48:51Speaker 1: fourteen fifty? Who is it? This job? Okay? John? How
- 48:53Speaker 1: you doing John? Did you have a good Derby weekend?
- 48:56Speaker 3: Oh?
- 48:57Speaker 4: Yeah, thanks to Justin, I cashed in a little bit.
- 49:01Speaker 1: Oh really, And uh, what specifically did Justin do to
- 49:06Speaker 1: help you cash in some money?
- 49:09Speaker 4: Well, when I was talking about which horse, horses or
- 49:12Speaker 4: horse I would like and I said renegade, Justin suggested
- 49:16Speaker 4: just go ahead and do that win play show across
- 49:20Speaker 4: the board bet ten dollars. Yeah, and I did he
- 49:23Speaker 4: hit second? I got second and third and I think
- 49:26Speaker 4: I made sixty three dollars.
- 49:30Speaker 2: So you doubled your money? Yep, Well down, Justin, I
- 49:35Speaker 2: need to start me a horse racing.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Well show, and does Justin get a little commission from
- 49:39Speaker 1: your money? I think it's only.
- 49:41Speaker 4: Fair he did? He got an out of boy?
- 49:46Speaker 1: You know? Oh yeah, thanks a lot, kind of like
- 49:49Speaker 1: my two lunches. That's just that's an ad of lunch.
- 49:52Speaker 1: And then Michael, go buy your own lunch. I'll just
- 49:54Speaker 1: tell you where to go. But what's going on, John,
- 49:57Speaker 1: I'm sure you have some basketball news for us.
- 50:01Speaker 4: Well, there's some young guy. I think he's from. I
- 50:08Speaker 4: don't know. He's foreign, Australian or something. I or fit
- 50:11Speaker 4: and I forgot where he's from. I'm not even really
- 50:13Speaker 4: concerned right now. Look, I just want them to put
- 50:16Speaker 4: a name on a piece of paper. How do you
- 50:17Speaker 4: feel about that, Michael?
- 50:21Speaker 1: You know, every time I read that we're expected to
- 50:25Speaker 1: be a finished at twelfth in the SEC and where
- 50:29Speaker 1: we are currently ranked in the preseason polls, I my
- 50:34Speaker 1: optimism keeps coming down a little chink on that chain,
- 50:38Speaker 1: and I the concern is not quite there, but it's
- 50:42Speaker 1: it's becoming a little quicker. So, you know, closer we
- 50:46Speaker 1: get to the season, you know, I'll give it some
- 50:49Speaker 1: time to see how they play together. But man, it
- 50:54Speaker 1: just it doesn't look really that good right now.
- 50:59Speaker 4: Well, if in hindsight, if we look back at last season,
- 51:04Speaker 4: they sat there and told us that we had a
- 51:06Speaker 4: really great roster and that when everyone got healthy, they're
- 51:09Speaker 4: gonna be good. And we were. We were predicted to
- 51:11Speaker 4: do a lot better than we did. So predictions and
- 51:14Speaker 4: what people think based on paper sometimes go out the window,
- 51:17Speaker 4: doesn't It?
- 51:18Speaker 1: Absolutely it does, because I know there is another team
- 51:22Speaker 1: just about fifteen minutes away from us that is continued
- 51:25Speaker 1: to spend all kinds of money and uh, you know
- 51:30Speaker 1: they got that five star Obina. Uh, how do you
- 51:34Speaker 1: say it? Easy? Okay, who reclassified from twenty seven to
- 51:38Speaker 1: twenty six. So they're doing something right over there. But
- 51:41Speaker 1: it doesn't necessarily mean it's going to equate to a
- 51:45Speaker 1: great team.
- 51:47Speaker 4: No, it don't. And they they're kind of pulling And
- 51:50Speaker 4: I don't want to like say that for sure, but
- 51:52Speaker 4: it seems like they're pulling a Mark Hope from last
- 51:55Speaker 4: season where he kind of like just grabbed that man.
- 51:58Speaker 4: I better grab all the stars that I can get
- 52:01Speaker 4: the best of this and the portal, the best of
- 52:03Speaker 4: that in the portal, and it's gonna come together. And
- 52:06Speaker 4: I don't think that always works out. But you know,
- 52:09Speaker 4: I'm not gonna say much more. Every time I keep
- 52:12Speaker 4: saying we're gonna get these guys or I feel good
- 52:14Speaker 4: about this, sometimes it comes back and we don't. So
- 52:17Speaker 4: maybe it's a little bit of a superstitious thing for
- 52:19Speaker 4: me now to just let it play out. As I
- 52:21Speaker 4: told justin this morning on his show with Sunriser Scoots,
- 52:25Speaker 4: which is a good show. If you guys ain't listen
- 52:26Speaker 4: to that, you need to check it out. But yeah,
- 52:30Speaker 4: but this morning, Michael, I'm up, got to go to work.
- 52:34Speaker 4: But I'm printing almost three hundred, three hundred cards I
- 52:40Speaker 4: made from this avery thing at Walmart. You pick them
- 52:43Speaker 4: up and it's how cheap I am, but you make them.
- 52:45Speaker 4: You can make your own business cards. And I'm printing
- 52:48Speaker 4: these business cards too because tomorrow I have that primary
- 52:52Speaker 4: race for election day and I'll be on the ballot
- 52:55Speaker 4: for Republican State Convention Delegate for Indiana. So trying to
- 52:59Speaker 4: pass he's out as people walk in and see if
- 53:02Speaker 4: we can get some few more votes. See if we
- 53:04Speaker 4: can finish fifth place or better out of twenty two runners.
- 53:07Speaker 4: I think the roll there was twenty two. There might
- 53:09Speaker 4: be nineteen now. So Michael wished me luck. I know
- 53:11Speaker 4: you guys are not into political stuff, and I'm not
- 53:13Speaker 4: trying to get you into it. I'm just telling you
- 53:15Speaker 4: what I'm doing as i'm speaking to you.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Well, I appreciate that, John, and am you know anybody
- 53:21Speaker 1: that runs for office. Even though I don't care for politics,
- 53:25Speaker 1: I respect because you're putting your name out there and
- 53:27Speaker 1: the fact that you're doing something like that, you're putting
- 53:30Speaker 1: your mouth money where your mouth is, and mouth where
- 53:34Speaker 1: your money is. And I respect that, and I do
- 53:36Speaker 1: wish you the best of luck. So let us know
- 53:38Speaker 1: how you do. And I do hope you get up
- 53:41Speaker 1: there and get elected. It would be.
- 53:44Speaker 4: Nice if I don't he at least we say we
- 53:47Speaker 4: tried it, and we keep moving all with life. God
- 53:50Speaker 4: has a plan for all of us, and keep our
- 53:52Speaker 4: heads up and let Christ be the light of your path.
- 53:54Speaker 4: That's what I always say. But thanks for always letting
- 53:56Speaker 4: me call in. I appreciate it. Kentucky. You'll be all right.
- 53:59Speaker 4: We'll be fine boys.
- 54:00Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, sounds good. That's John. I appreciate you
- 54:02Speaker 1: calling in. And if you want to call in five two, three, four,
- 54:05Speaker 1: fourteen fifty, you want to text in, We'll get to
- 54:07Speaker 1: those texts in just a few minutes. But I do
- 54:09Speaker 1: want to talk about this guy Obina say it again,
- 54:12Speaker 1: a keasy He made the comment, of course he's the
- 54:17Speaker 1: five stars seven foot whatever player. It was kind of
- 54:20Speaker 1: a crazy Did you see the picture of him next
- 54:24Speaker 1: to Pat Kelsey? No? Oh yeah, it's it's yeah, it
- 54:28Speaker 1: almost looked clownish. I mean, and the classes just make
- 54:32Speaker 1: it worse. But uh, he chose you. This is what
- 54:35Speaker 1: I found interesting. You know, let me read it, and
- 54:37Speaker 1: then I want you to say, what's the first thing
- 54:40Speaker 1: that comes to your mind when when I when you
- 54:41Speaker 1: hear this, he said he chose U of L because
- 54:44Speaker 1: U of all has everything he needs in terms of
- 54:47Speaker 1: winning and development. I heard that and I thought, wait
- 54:54Speaker 1: a minute, it's where's the winning and where's the develo delopment?
- 55:00Speaker 1: Does Kelsey have any player right now in the NBA.
- 55:06Speaker 2: That I mean, that's the part of the quote that
- 55:09Speaker 2: really kind of throws me for a loop there, because
- 55:11Speaker 2: I get I don't know. I guess you could say
- 55:13Speaker 2: you developed Sonanda Frew and he went on and got
- 55:15Speaker 2: more money elsewhere.
- 55:17Speaker 1: But I mean, when'sh Why does that help? I mean, okay, great.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Like, when's the last time Louisville actually had a good
- 55:25Speaker 2: big man?
- 55:27Speaker 1: All right?
- 55:28Speaker 2: It has to be Wowaku, right, I guess I mean that.
- 55:35Speaker 1: Is that a good name? I mean, I'm probably going, well,
- 55:39Speaker 1: I don't know, man, I looked at that and I thought,
- 55:43Speaker 1: who's Pat Kelsey developing? I didn't it's and I'm to
- 55:48Speaker 1: the point now I don't believe he wrote any of that.
- 55:50Speaker 1: I think his agent did. It has nothing to do
- 55:53Speaker 1: with that. It has one thousand percent to do with
- 55:56Speaker 1: how much he's getting paid there. That's all it is.
- 56:00Speaker 1: I mean, since U of L got Papa John to
- 56:02Speaker 1: come back to U of L, all of a sudden,
- 56:05Speaker 1: you got all these players coming to the basketball team,
- 56:09Speaker 1: is that it is that? Where? Because where else is
- 56:12Speaker 1: the money coming from? Do you have any idea? No?
- 56:16Speaker 1: Sure don't. Because they're spending the most money in the country,
- 56:19Speaker 1: aren't they. And most people out there are getting on
- 56:22Speaker 1: social media and say, oh wait a minute, now U
- 56:25Speaker 1: of L is going to have the most expensive roster
- 56:27Speaker 1: and they're going to end up no better than UK
- 56:30Speaker 1: did last year's season.
- 56:31Speaker 2: Here's the thing, though, So you bring in a big
- 56:34Speaker 2: five star recruit last year in Mike kel Brown Junior.
- 56:37Speaker 2: He's had back issues all season long. Now you're bringing
- 56:41Speaker 2: in this kid who is the number two player in
- 56:43Speaker 2: the twenty twenty seven class. The only problem is he's
- 56:47Speaker 2: about two and a half feet taller than your head coach.
- 56:50Speaker 2: You think back issues aren't going to be a thing
- 56:52Speaker 2: for him too when he has to bend down all
- 56:54Speaker 2: the time to hear what Pat Kelsey's saying.
- 56:56Speaker 1: Come on, I'm right there with you. I mean, I'm like,
- 57:01Speaker 1: oh my goodness. So it's in all seriousness. It's a
- 57:04Speaker 1: great kid for Louisville. Oh it's yeah, it is. But
- 57:08Speaker 1: is he going to be ready for this season? I mean,
- 57:10Speaker 1: he's reclassifying from twenty seven to twenty six. Do you
- 57:14Speaker 1: think he will be ready to play with the big boys,
- 57:16Speaker 1: because that's another issue that a lot of people are
- 57:18Speaker 1: bringing up.
- 57:20Speaker 2: I would say it's probably gonna take him some time
- 57:22Speaker 2: to find his footing, but by the end of the season,
- 57:25Speaker 2: I would I'd fully expect him to be caught up
- 57:27Speaker 2: with the pace of the game, and yeah, I think
- 57:30Speaker 2: he'd be good to go.
- 57:31Speaker 1: How worry? How worried do you think BBN is getting
- 57:35Speaker 1: right now about this upcoming season, because you know now
- 57:38Speaker 1: they're saying, like I mentioned a couple of minutes ago,
- 57:40Speaker 1: they have them at finishing twelfth in the SEC, not
- 57:45Speaker 1: even midpack, towards the lower the bottom of the SEC.
- 57:52Speaker 2: I mean, you can freak out or you can just
- 57:55Speaker 2: see how it's all gonna play out, right. That's That's
- 57:58Speaker 2: kind of the way I'm going about it. Like Buzz
- 58:01Speaker 2: texted my show this morning and he said, oh, what
- 58:04Speaker 2: was the quote? He said, I gotta get that pulled up.
- 58:06Speaker 1: He said, I don't want to hear about the labor pains,
- 58:08Speaker 1: Just show me the baby. That's kind of how I
- 58:11Speaker 1: think about it. I get it because you know, you
- 58:13Speaker 1: know who the I think is the most optimistic fan
- 58:16Speaker 1: out there is JD Shelburn. And JD's talking to me
- 58:20Speaker 1: over the weekend and he's like, oh my gosh, man,
- 58:22Speaker 1: I'm a little nervous about this, but I'm gonna stay positive.
- 58:25Speaker 1: And I'm like, good for you. It's hard for me.
- 58:28Speaker 1: I'm trying to be I'm not I don't. I wouldn't
- 58:31Speaker 1: say I'm positive, but I would say I'm optimistic. But
- 58:36Speaker 1: if we get through December and we're I guess right
- 58:46Speaker 1: there at fifty to fifty, I'm gonna be nervous. It's
- 58:51Speaker 1: just not gonna work out. I mean, and then you
- 58:53Speaker 1: got a new athletic director coming in. Is he going
- 58:55Speaker 1: to keep Mark Pope does? Is that one thing an
- 58:59Speaker 1: athletic director wants to do in his first year at
- 59:03Speaker 1: a major school get rid of their biggest sport head coach?
- 59:08Speaker 2: Probably not. I mean it's it's not Ana too though,
- 59:11Speaker 2: But I mean, here's the deal with Kentucky. It's not
- 59:13Speaker 2: like you're two thousand and seven twousand or two thousand
- 59:16Speaker 2: and eight, two thousand and nine Indiana. Like you're not
- 59:19Speaker 2: pulling guys off the street. You you're getting basketball guys
- 59:22Speaker 2: who have had good careers at just other places, and
- 59:26Speaker 2: you just don't know how all those pieces are gonna
- 59:28Speaker 2: fit together at this juncture. But what's the point and
- 59:31Speaker 2: going into a season with a pestimistic attitude that takes
- 59:35Speaker 2: all the fun away from being a fan. So at
- 59:37Speaker 2: this point might as well just go into it positive, thinking, Hey,
- 59:41Speaker 2: these pieces will fit together. Better than I ever expected
- 59:44Speaker 2: them to. These guys are gonna go out and just hoop.
- 59:46Speaker 2: That's that's kind of what I see. I think this
- 59:48Speaker 2: team will more closely resemble year one for Pope than
- 59:52Speaker 2: year two.
- 59:52Speaker 1: I hope you're right. All right? Somebody texted in the
- 59:55Speaker 1: picture of all the drinks prices from the infield. Okay,
- 59:58Speaker 1: are you ready reddit Woodford Reserve Spire, which is a
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: Woodford Reserve lemonade Cranberry juice twenty two dollars. It's ridiculous
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: you said the mint jullip was twenty two. Soon had
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: one of those that actually sounds awesome. It does sound
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: pretty good. A margarita twenty two dollars, the Lily was
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: twenty two. A premium cocktail nineteen dollars, A shardon A
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: eighteen dollars. Eighteen dollars for a glass of wine. Yeah yeah,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: what a white claw Hard Seltzer fourteen dollars. Premium beer
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: was fourteen, domestic thirteen. Your your red Bull was six
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: bucks and a soda was five. And why is water
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: more expensive? A bottle of water with six dollars yet
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: you can go get a diet coke for five dollars
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: should be opposite. Right, Yeah, well, water should be free.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: I'm just gonna tell you, especially if it's a hot day,
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: don't you think it should be free? They should have
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: like water stations set up. I do a that. Yeah,
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: thank you for sending that into me text, because that's
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: so if you're going in and you're spending that money.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Now you're going in, you're spending another couple hundred dollars
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: on just drinks. Yeah, that's a lot. I just I'm
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: not going there to get drunk. I'm gonna probably take it.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Are you allowed to take in soft drinks or no? No,
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: so you have to buy. You can take food in,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: can you? Well, for many years you could take food in.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: Can you not anymore? Since they made concessions free or
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: a part of your ticket. I don't know. That's a
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: great question. I've never tried. Okay, I know I've taken
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: food out. Yeah, you can't. And you can't carry the
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: alcohol out. You can carry a soft drink out or
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: a water, but you can't carry alcohol.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: They were very strict about that. There was one guy
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: at the gate. He was like, better chug your drink, ma'am,
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: you better chug it. Got a couple hundred yards.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: Oh really? Oh boy? Okay, she said, can I dump
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: it out? He said, yeah, you could dump it out,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: but I'd chug it, and he probably followed her to
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: a car. One person said, the infield isn't the fun
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: times of anymore. I've already read that one. So one
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: person said, Michael Breen here, I love the show. If
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: Kentucky basketball ends up in March, third in March, third
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: in the SEC, and is out of the NCAA in
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: round of sixteen, will you be ready to move on
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: from Pope? All right? So let me read that again.
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: If Kentucky ends up March in March, third in SEC
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: and out at round of sixteen, are we done with Pope?
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: Justin I'll be honest, barring a Final four this year,
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: I'm done with Pope as it is.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: Alright. Unfortunately, I think the biggest question I got from
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: so many people this weekend and last week for that fact,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: was is Mark Pope going to be here for year?
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: I don't see that's the question. It's not how's the
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: team gonna do. It's not optimistical, we're excited about basketball
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: season next year. It's none of that. It has been
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Will Mark Pope be here for year four, and I
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: mean I hope so, I mean I hope he is here. Well, yeah,
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: because that would mean that awesome. Right, But I'm getting
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: to a point now, he's got to have a really
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: successful season. A lot of people really believe that he
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: would resign. That's not happened. No, I don't believe Mark
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: Pope will ever resign. I mean because he believes in
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: himself that really that would be the thing to do.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: If if you're I mean, if if John cal Perry
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: walked away, shouldn't one of your own and Mark Pope
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: see that, hey, maybe this isn't going the direction that
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: it should be and he should probably walk away.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: A lot of people have said, and I can't confirm this,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: that cal went back to UK. I don't know if
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: it was directly to Mitch Barnhard or not and said,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: I know, I changed my mind and I want to stay,
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: and they wouldn't let him. Now you already breached a contract.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: We're done. Do you believe in that story? Kind of yeah?
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Do you really a little bit? Yeah?
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: A small part of me does, because I mean, if
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: you're telling me too that he's leaving Kentucky for Arkansas, right,
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: that doesn't really check out. I mean, credit to him,
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: he's made it work in his two years there, but yeah,
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: looking back, that doesn't make a hold.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: Well, what makes me kind of believe that story is
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: because look at the way he was responding when he
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: first went to Arkansas and you saw all the media
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: coverage that was happening and nobody was really supporting it,
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: and his face didn't look like he really wanted to
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: be there. I mean, it just did not look like
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: he was. He's like, what have I done? And he's
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: got nobody to blame but himself. But yeah, if if
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: we have a season like that next year, I think
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: Pope is done. I really do. I mean I really
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: believe he's got to be first or second, maybe third,
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: but he's got to get to an Elite eight. If
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: he gets to an Elite eight with the team that
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: we're looking like that's coming around, I think that's a
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: pretty good season and he has to day. But he's
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: he's never going to resign. I can tell you that
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: right now. He will never resign on his own accordance.
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: No way. But uh Patrick texted in and as soon
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: as I say that, nothing works, Oh I love technology.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: Uh No, me read it. Oh, yeah, read it because
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: it won't come up on my computer. He said, I
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: think the water was sent from Good Creeks. What's Good Creeks?
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: I don't know. Oh so they went just to a
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: local good creek and then dumped the bottles in there
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: and brought it over. Yeah, I don't know about that.
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: He also asked, who does Kentucky have coming back? Well,
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: we know that whole list, Caam Williams.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: Yeah, Trenton, No, I haven't really heard from Malik Hi yet,
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: but you gotta believe he's coming back. He's not getting drafted. No,
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Brandon Garrison is coming back, always does. Absolutely. I just
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: want to see your respond.
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: If that was the case, I would probably have to
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: be done with this show. Oh come on, yeah, I
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: would have to be done.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: I just I can't. I can't take another year talking
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: Brandon Garrison. Okay, Braiden Hawthorne is coming back. Reese Potter,
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: Cam Williams, I think that's everybody right there. You think
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: Reese Potter plays a factor at all? No, I don't either.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: I don't I don't think. I don't think Braiden Hawthorne,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Trent Noah, Reese Potter play a factor. I just don't.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: I'm here to tell you right now, Braiden Hawthorne, will
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: do you really why do you say that? I just
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: think he's gonna beat because there's a reason he didn't
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: play last year, right, I mean, I don't know whether
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: it was because they just didn't want people to have
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: any tape on him. I feel like there's an underlying
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: reason why he did not see the floor, and that
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: just that to me just tells me that maybe this
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: kid's actually pretty decent.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Much as I want to believe that, I just don't
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: see it happening. I truly. I mean, they brought in
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: his brother to keep him so he somewhat good. Yeah,
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: just like the part I don't like because I feel
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: like what everybody's saying on social media is right. I
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: just don't want to call out the young man. I mean,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: it's just don't be doing that kind. That's that's when
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: I don't like social media, when people are saying, oh, yeah,
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: we know why you're coming, so I know, don't don't
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: do that. I mean, but I will say what I
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: kept saying about Cam Williams last year. I firmly believe
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: we're going to see that this year. We're starting to
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: see a little bit of it until he got injured.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: Of how great a shooter he potentially can be. He's
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: going to come here, he's going to be a lot
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: more relaxed this season, and he's going to get it done.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: So I'm looking forward to it. One person said, or
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: they got good water somewhere and that's where why it's
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: more expensive than the infield. The concession stand on Thurby,
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: the water was around four bucks, so they raised it
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: for the Derby. That makes sense, right, really it does.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: Why Why can it make sense to me? It should
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: be consistent throughout the entire week and what they sell
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: it for during the regular days out there at Churchy
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: No way. What if they did what Augustin National does
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: tall please and made everything reasonably priced, I'd be great.
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: That's not happen. I mean they're making so much money
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: on everything else.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's why CDI is what it is, right,
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: because they they know how to make bookoo amounts the money.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: That's why they're able to go out and pay eighty
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: five million get the rights for the Preakness. Like they
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: they just want to continue to grow and grow and grow,
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: and if they make things cheap. They're not going to
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: obviously make as much money, but.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: You know, put it into perspective. You know, a couple
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: of weeks ago we talked about it. Somebody bought a
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: two year old horse for ten and a half million
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: dollars and Churchill only played eighty five million dollars for
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: the Preetness, Uh television rights. Don't you think that's kind
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: of inexpensive? Feels like it? Yeah, you buy a horse
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: for ten and a half that guy could have eight
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: times more, seven and a half times more could have
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: owned the rights to the Preakness. I'm thinking, Yeah, I wonder,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: I wonder what he was thinking. So anyway, all right,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: we gotta take another break. Five of two three eight
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: four fourteen fifty. If you want to call five of
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: two four to one, four fourteen fifty one, text me.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: Keep those texts coming in on the Whiskey Thief text lines.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Stay right there. We're going to talk about a couple
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: of other things. I promise you I've been telling you
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: about this whole beer guzzling thing. We're gonna talk about
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: it next. Stay right there, excited time the time I've
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: had a large my past bust.
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: Mind a couple of beautiful girls. Tell me good strutch, breakdown, dons,
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: run out politicians, Lin inspired by.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: The politic takes one the count of things I can come. No,
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: there ain't much, man, they ain't even letting me. Damn,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: I like this. I have no idea who this is,
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: and I know I should. Yeah, I know. You can
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: look at me a little more and tell me how
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: ridiculous I am? Who is this? On account of you?
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: Sent me this? Saw? Oh? Is this Luke comb Sorry?
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: I don't know him. I just I saw this. There's
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: a reason I sent it to you because over the
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: weekend Saturday night, he was in concert down in nash Knoxville, Tennessee,
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: and there were a couple of guys that joined him
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: off stage to chug a beer. Okay, are you ready
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: for who the two guys that joined Luke Combs to
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: chug the beer, Peyton Manning and Josh Hipel. What do
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: you think about them and everybody recording them chug a beer?
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: Do you love that? So? You think it's a good
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: look to have your head coach and one of your
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: probably your most famous football player to ever play at
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: your school to get there and chug a beer. Yeah?
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: When they're supposed to do that behind closed doors so
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: they don't get judged.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: I'm they shot gun to a beer. I love. When's
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: the last time you shot gun to beer? Probably a
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: couple of years ago. Really, it's been more recent than
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: I think. Okay, yeah, I know my boys will do
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: it every now. Didn't challenge me? And guess what, Michael
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: Bennet loves a good challenge, and I take it and
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: you lose every time. Probably so. But I love chugging
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: a beer. I mean, I thought it was funny. But
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: then a lot of people are criticizing that's not the
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: way we win our head coach at I've got no
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: criticism here.
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: I mean, if I can, if I don't care what
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: position I'm in in terms of a job, if the
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: opportunity arises where I can shotgun a beer with Luke Combs,
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: I am shotgunning a beer with Luke.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: I think it's just in good fun. I mean I do.
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: I There are a lot of people that got on
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: social media says that's not wow. I want Peyton Manning
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: to act in my head coach, It's like, let him
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: have some fun. They're human too, Why can't they act normal?
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: Because you're out there doing it as well. Don't tell
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: me you hadn't chugged.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: A beer right now. I mean with Peyton, I don't
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: know why there's any pushback. Who cares like that's great.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: Because he's kind of an example. He's kind of your
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: he was an example, your flagship quarterback for many years,
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: and they think it's a bad look for the youth
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: to Yeah, but.
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: Half mostly youth alive don't even know that Peyton Manning
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: was quarterback in Tennessee.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: I don't know if I agree with that.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: They remember he was for the Colts and the Broncos
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: in the NFL, but not Tennessee.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: I think, well, I'm they're a Tennessee fan, they remember,
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: don't Don't you think that, Uh, there are a lot
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: of kids today that are UK fans realize that Tim
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: Couch was probably one of the greatest quarterbacks in UK history.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: Or do you think they do not remember that or
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: know that Tim Couch was a great quarterback at UK.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: I'd say only forty percent No if yeah, interesting, I
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: mean I could be wrong in that, but all right,
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: let me ask it this way. Do you think that, uh,
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: there are a lot of youth today that are UK
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: fans basketball fans that don't know who Jack Gibbings is. Yes,
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: y wow, Okay, I mean that's you're going back thirty
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: more years than Tim Couch. Yeah, you're right, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: you're talking nineteen seventy eight was his last year at UK,
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: so you're talking fifty years.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: I mean there's probably kids that even listen to the
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: radio broadcast that don't know that that's a guy that
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: played at Kentucky.
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: You think it's that many though? Yeah? Okay, all right,
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: then that's.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: Say only ten percent of Kentucky fan youth know who
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: Jack Gibbons is.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: If my gosh, if that man? Okay, well, let's talk
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: about the roster for next year for UK basketball. Who
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: do you think is going to be the big surprise?
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: I mean you got Braden Authorne. We just talked about
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: Rhys Potter, Trent Noah, cam Williams all coming back. Uh,
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: you got Mala Chaimarno. Who's most likely coming back? Justin
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: McBride wusmain in Day Is that good? I think it's
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: Enjai Enjai Zoom Diallo all the transfers. You got Mason Williams,
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: the four star point guard committing so what do you think?
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: Who who those players? Besides? Because we all agree Malachi
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: Marino is going to be the number one player on
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: the UK's roster Latin last year.
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: Disagree one thousand. Really, no, I do not think Malachi
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: is going to be the man who next year's team.
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: Who's going to be the man? It's a guy you
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: didn't even name? Who, did I miss?
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: I think Alex Wilkins is going to be the big
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: surprise of this That's why I said Alex Wilkins. No,
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: you maybe did, Maybe I just didn't. Okay, but let's okay,
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: go ahead. I do I think Alex Wilkins is going
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: to be the surprise of this team. I don't know
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: why I think that. I have nothing to back that up.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: I don't not even all that privy to the stats
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: that he put up last year, So I don't really
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: have a reason to say that. I just I really,
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: for whatever reason, I really like that kid.
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: Huh. I really think the surprise player is going to
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: be Zoom Diallo. It'll be Cam, it will it'll be Cam.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: That'll be mine, But he shouldn't be the surprise player.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: I still think that he's that player that won't be
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: the surprise, but still be a good player.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, if he's knocking down let's say
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: three and a half, three is a game that puts
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: him in the surprise player category, right, Yeah.
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: I guess so. But I mean I was predicting him
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: last year to be a really good player, and that's
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: why I'm not saying he's going to be the surprise.
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: Well and last year, at the end of the year,
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: he was a pretty good player, yes, exactly, once they
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: came back from the injury he was he was good.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I'm still gonna stick with Zoom. I think
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: people are gonna be pleasantly surprised. I'm kind of wishing
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: that Trent Noah becomes that player as well, that we
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: get a couple of players that are going to be surprises.
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: And it's like, where is Trent Noah ben? I mean
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: that'd be greareat.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: I mean that would if Trent Noah just takes even
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: a half a step up, Yeah, just even a half
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: a step. That adds so much to this It does,
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: I mean it really does.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: I mean you or maybe Justin McBride, I mean, what
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: if we got three or four players as like, wow,
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: this is surprising. They just geled together and all of
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: a sudden, they in the top twenty five. They get
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: on a run. Now they're in the top twenty, they're
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: in the top fifteen. Now we're getting close to where.
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: You know, maybe I don't think this is going to
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: be a team that potentially could be a number one
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: seed in the NCAA tournament, but I think they could
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: get you know, if they can get to a two seed,
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: that would be the peak. If they can get three
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: or four seed, I'm really happy.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean you should be when you you're just
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: you're literally just throwing all these players together and hoping
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: that it works.
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just like, okay, I'm just throwing all this together.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: Let's hope the ingredients work and we get a really
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: delicious cake. I mean, that's the kind of dessert I
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: really like.
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: I don't think it's gonna be a really delicious cake,
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: but I think it's gonna be.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: An edible cake. Yeah. Yeah, But edible doesn't mean it's.
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: Really that not edible in the way of your wife
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: made it and you're just eating it to make her happy.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: Edible in the way it has happened before. By the way, Oh,
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: I assume it has yeah edible in the way of
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: like you just keep going back and digging in and
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: you're like, this is this is okay.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: Not the best cake I've ever had, but it's okay.
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: One person said that this UK roster is not that bad.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: He needs one more guy, a stud maybe from NBA,
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: guys that don't like the projection. This is a good roster.
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: That's the one thing about Tyron Stokes not coming to
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: UK that Mark Pope that freed up a bunch of
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: money which maybe allows him to get one or two
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: players that And I think that's great post our text
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: because there's gonna be some guys there that are not
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: going to see or like their projection. Their age is
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: going to say, you know what, UK is a good option.
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: You're gonna make more money, You're not going to the
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: G League, and you get to going to get to
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: play for UK.
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: I mean, there's just with with this roster there's no
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: sexy name, and I think that's the problem that that
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: fans are having with it and what Mark Pope's doing.
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: There's not that stand doown name now. If you're able
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: to get mom Chilovich, if he hops out of the
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: NBA draft, and you can add him to the fold
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: seven footer near seven footer shooting forty for three. That
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: that is star power. And if you add that to
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: all these guys that have just been pieced together, I
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: think that's a roster that can work. So there there
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: is some truth to that. It does feel like there
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: are only one stud away from potentially putting it together
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: a team that could make some noise.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: Why do you say Malachi can't be that one player.
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: I think he can be. I think year two of
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: Maliki Moreno can be that stud. I'm surprised you say that.
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: Look, I believe in Malachi, always have ever I've called
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: games for him in high school, Like I believe in
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: that kid. Okay, but I didn't see enough out of
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: him last year for him to tell me that he's
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: gonna take that this massive step up and be one
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: of the focal points for this team. He's going to
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: be a focal point. I don't think he's going to
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: be the focal point.
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: Hmm, all right, and you think it's it's gonna be right, I.
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: Hope I'm wrong. I would love to cook up some
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: crow and eat it. I mean, if we get to
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: this fall and he's tearing it up. He's added some
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: post moves, has better footwork. I mean he needs better hands.
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: I think there's a lot that Malachi needs to improve.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: On, but to be like glimpses of what he could
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: potentially come and I think year two of Malachi he
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: makes that big jump.
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: Truthfully, I want to see Malachi extend the floor. We
- 1:20:28Speaker 2: saw that game winner against LSU that was dang near
- 1:20:31Speaker 2: from beyond the perimeter, knocked nothing, but net I want
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: to see him step back a little bit at incorporate
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: that mid range game, incorporate potentially taking threes to his game,
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: and see where that taks.
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: Okay. One person said Michael, I've always wondered what the
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: phrase meant he or she is too smart for their
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: own good, and wondered what it really meant. But now
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: watching Mark Pope handle recruiting, I now understand the phrase,
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: and you know, he is just brilliantly smart, and maybe
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: he is too smart for his own good. I don't know.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: I would love to sit in a room and figure
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: out what is he saying that it's turning off players?
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: What is he saying that's not really turning on the players,
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Because what do you think it is. Do you think
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: Mark Pope is turning them off or do you think
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: he's just not motivating the players enough for them to say, Ooh,
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: I want to play for Mark Pope.
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: I mean I think it can be a combination of both, right,
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: I mean you go into a place and you don't
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: always feel the best when you're there, right, So yeah,
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: I think it could just be one of those situations
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: where players aren't feeling all that comfortable when they go
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: to a place like Kentucky or Lexington, and especially when
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: they're getting brought to Keenland, Like, we got to stop that.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: We've got to stop that. Let these players figure out
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: Keenland on their own, stop introducing them to Keenland.
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: Did you like the bucket hat that Mark Pope had on?
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: If they recruit when they were going fishing? Wasn't that
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: it was? Yeah? I don't know.
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: Maybe if they would have cut a little bit bigger fish,
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: he would have gone to conduct.
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not anything. I would want my picture all
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: over the country with a fish like that.
- 1:22:16Speaker 2: Maybe when they caught it, Pat Mark Pope tried to
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: make a joke, Oh, it looks like Pat Kelsey, And
- 1:22:21Speaker 2: then a Keasy's wheels started certing, maybe I go play
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: a Louisville.
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: Wow. One person texted in said, the balls fans threw
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: mustard and all kinds of trash onto the field a
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: few years back, so let's not let them act all
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: high and mighty. I couldn't agree more. They Yeah, you know,
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: they had to cover down in Knoxville at Nayland Stadium.
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: They had to cover where the tunnel where the players
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: come out because fans would throw stuff on their own players.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: That's really sad when you have to cover up where
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: your players, your own players come out so they don't
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: get hit with anything. I try to think of what
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: would be the worst venue to be head coach at,
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: and I'm pretty much every single year I'm one place.
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: And it's not because I'm biased, But where do you
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: think the most difficult job to coach at? Where your
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: fans turned on you? In a New York second in
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: football in the SEC in football, Yes, Florida. You think
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: it's Florida. See, I've always been in a contention. It's
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: either one or the other. It's either LSU or Tennessee.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: Because they get so drunk at LSU if it's a
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: night game. They got those Cajuns down there are fixing
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: that food. They have some of the best tailgates in
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: the world, and I worry about being down there. I
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: don't think I would want to be coach at LSU,
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: but even more so, they are so they have such
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: unrealistic expectations. At Tennessee, I don't think I would want
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: to be Josh Hipel. I mean they've let him skate by. Yeah,
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: they have been anything. But I tell you what, I
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: I just man, they haven't been that relevant in a
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: long time. But I don't know, I just feel like
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: it's Tennessee. Uh, UK, what do you think about this?
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: I mean, we didn't get to talk about much last week,
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: but UK football is number six ranking class of twenty
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: seven kill and in the transfer portal for twenty six
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: ranked eleventh. I can't believe. And I ran into will
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: Stein at the track. Look, you didn't, couldn't get out
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: of his lib I'm coming, I'm coming out of the bathroom. No, no,
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: stop it now. I well, I literally did run into
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: him coming out of the bathroom right there where I
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: was sitting at Churchill Downs and there he was, and
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: I'm like, oh wow, he's about the height of Justin Kaylin.
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: Did you talk to him? Absolutely? I walked straight up
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: to him. Will I'm Michael Bennett. Great to meet you.
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: Told him I did a radio show. I'm trying to
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: get you on. So yeah, we'll see if he does.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: I don't know, but he was very nice to me.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: I was right there with Todd. Todd Lantern and I
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: were walking out of the bathroom together. If you don't
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: remember Todd Lantern, no, I figured you did. Played for
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: cal Well. He sat on the bench for cal It. Yeah,
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: he's the one married to Maria Montgomery. I don't know
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: who that is, missus Kentucky. Sorry, Mike, I'm not up
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: with my you look. You look up Maria Montgomery and
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: you'll recognize her. She does a bathroom commercial right now.
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: She's all over FanDuel. She's on everything. She's she's a
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: nice girl. So all right, we got taken our last
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: break A good night. It does it does every day. Huh,
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: hello Maria? You don't recognize her? Really? Okay? All right?
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: She does one of those bathroom model commercials. And I
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: guess you don't watch udeling shows. Well know that no
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: A FanDuel. She was on FanDuel all weekend. They're folding. No,
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: I don't watch them. Well, that is true, kind of
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: like Spirit Airlines have you. I wonder how many people
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: got stuck in Louisville because of Spirit Airlines. That was crazy,
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: That was kind of sad. And then there was one guy.
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: They showed a video. He was a pilot for Spirit
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: Airlines for many years and he was retiring. Did you
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: see that? And Southwest Airlines did something really nice and
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: I thought that I loved that they did that. Anyway,
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: I do have a couple other things I want to
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: talk about in the Kentucky Derby when we come back,
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: and we'll talk a little bit about UK baseball as well.
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: Stay right there five o two three eight four fourteen fifty.
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: We'll take your text messages up. We can go to
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: the end five two four to one four fourteen fifty.
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: I have no idea what I just said there, But anyway,
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: stay right there a little more. Just the guy's coming up.
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: Just don't know me. The Bard and Quitar hell roll
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: last segment on this Monday, fab two three four fourteen fifty.
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: You want to call in Fablo two four one fourteen
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: fifty if you want to text in on the Whiskey
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: Chief text line, or you can tune in for the
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: Last You Know on YouTube if you want to look
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: that up. It's a Big X Sports Radio Louisville. Uh,
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: John here, Hey, Michael and justin Coach Pope went fishing
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: with C. J. Rosser. Oh yeah, yeah, I thought it
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: was a key I agree with the text on potential
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: NBA guys who find out they do not like their
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: draft stock position? So do I also, could Malachi help
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: land a guy or so they went through the NBA
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: combine together? I like that idea right there. Could you
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: utilize Malachi? You think Mark Pope is talking? Hey dude,
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: I know you're coming back, but can you befriend some
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: people in the combine and try to convince them to
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: come to UK? Is there any way you think players
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: are trying to do that? I think so. I mean
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: it's a great idea in theory. Oh, just like I
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: think Jasper Johnson was trying to get Tyrone Stokes to
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: come to Oregon because he and Jasper were playing on
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: travel teams together, and I guarantee it Jasper was trying
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: to recruit him. So yeah, I think that's a great idea.
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: They got to speak with each other. Malachi maybe a
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: big impact on this team and with the guys he
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: is around now. So fantastic idea right there. One person
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: said she does a bathroom commercial, talking about Maria Montgomery.
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: I said that didn't I I'm not sure that's how
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: she would want to be described. Ha ha, oh sorry
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: about that? Oh I get it. Okay, Yeah, she does
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: a bath Okay, she does a bathroom remodel commercial. How's
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: that that's better? Yeah? I guess that's one of those
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: things you don't want to be a part of. I
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: don't think you would want to be in commercials for
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: bathroom issues, or you definitely don't want to be a
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: man with one particular issue. I'll be in whatever commercial
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: you want. You will, okay, So I don't care if
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: it's if it's for an eedy drug, you would do it,
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: would you really? Okay? Well, you know I was with
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: JD over the weekend. J D. Shelburn had a phenomenal
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: time with him. Love his wife, nicest lady ever meet
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: in your life. I told her I need to be
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: in your next video. What do you think if I
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: was in one of his next videos? How ridiculous? Would
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: I look, He's like, yeah, man, you need to do
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: a video with us. He did say yeah, Oh, of course,
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: he said, that's an awesome idea. Of course, I don't expect.
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: I'm sure he's just being really nice. But tell me
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: need to write a Kentucky song. Oh my gosh, what
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: are you talking about? Like just a song about Kentucky athletics. Oh,
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: he's written songs about the state. I was gonna say,
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: outside the songs about that, write a song about the
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: athletic apartment. Yeah. We have another good friend that joined
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: us for dinner with JD and JD's wife. I won't
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: say his name, but he's been a friend for a
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: while now, and he's a lawyer, very successful lawyer up
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: in New York City, and we swear he is in
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: the CIA, but he won't say. I have bought him
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: so many drinks to get him liquored up to tell
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: the truth, and he still doesn't say. But he's done
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: all kinds of negotiations between countries hmm, and gone to
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: those countries and he won't tell us everything, but he
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: gives us bits and pieces. Would you ever love to
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: sit down and talk to somebody that was in the CIA.
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: I mean not if they're not gonna spill anything. No, yeah,
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: I get it, but I think he kind of likes
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: the fascination of we're fascinated by him because we want
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: to know if he's in the CIA. I swear he is.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: I promise you I think he is. Did you like that?
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: This was one criticism. I heard a lot of people
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: reach out to me, Michael, we want you to talk
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: about this on the radio on Monday. All right. I
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: don't know if you saw it or not, but I'm
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: not kidding. I've had a number of people reach out
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: to me, you have to talk about this on the radio.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: So you decided save it for the last two minutes?
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: Oh should I save it for you tomorrow? Then? Just
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: saying if you got that many requests to talk about it,
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: they're gonna be mad when Yeah, you're right. I know
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: I messed up. They said there was a commercial right
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: before the derby about Nashville, Tennessee. Did you see it?
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: I don't know what it was. It was promoting Nashville.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: Come to Nashville and have a vacation or visit. I
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: don't think I remember seeing that. Well, they didn't like
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: it and Honestly, I look at that and I think
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: that's in poor form. You know, this is the Louisville event.
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: You got enough Nashville crap going on. Save the Nashville
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: crap for your own Nashville crap. What do you think?
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it probably could have been timed a
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: little bit better than it was. Inherently, I have no
- 1:32:39Speaker 2: problem with them running in Nashville Camarillo in the Louisville market.
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: That that doesn't bother me at all. But yeah, to
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: run it right before the Derby, that seems a little insensitive.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: I didn't like it. I thought it was in poetaste
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: for Nashville. You know, now you mentioned it, now I
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: do kind of remember. Okay, uh, Golden Tempo. Is it
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: going to race? You do? You do you think it's
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: going on to the Preakness. I'm gonna say yes. I'm
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: gonna say yes. Yeah, I think he goes on. But
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: I don't think it's gonna be a triple ground one. No,
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: I just don't think so. I don't either. As much
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: as I want it, i'd love it. I mean, it
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: was so cool to watch you said it. Watching Shari's
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: response winning the race the other day, because I'm telling
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: you that's not her personality. She's very serious and when
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: it comes to seeing her around the track or at
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: auctions or anything kind of stuff, she's very serious. Her
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: husband's the same way. That's why they get along. They're
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: just they're very serious people and boy do they know horses.
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: So congratulations to Shrei Devaux. I want to say it again,
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: Congratulations to her husband one of the greatest bloodsuckations in
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: the country, if not the world. David and Gordo. Just
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: a tremendous job. What a fun weekend it was justin.
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: I am sorry it's over, but it was a fun weekend.
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: So it was. One person said, Scoots is just yelling,
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: shit me the money. You've got the money, he's got
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: the ailments. That's right, that's great. All right, everybody, fun Monday.
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: We'll see you tomorrow on just the cats. Have a
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: great day.
