- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn Amharic with Fexingo. Luna: Hey Lucas! I'm ready to learn some more Amharic. What are we tackling today? Lucas: Today we're going to review two drinks we learned recently: milk and soda. In Amharic, milk is ወተት. Luna: ወተት. That's milk, right? I remember that from last week. Lucas: Exactly. And soda is ሶዳ. Say it with me: ሶዳ. Luna: ሶዳ. Sounds like 'soda' but with a bit of an Amharic twist. Lucas: Yeah, it's borrowed from English, so it's pretty easy to remember. Now let's practice ordering. If you want milk, you say ወተት እፈልጋለሁ. Luna: ወተት እፈልጋለሁ. That means 'I want milk.' So if I want soda, I'd say ሶዳ እፈልጋለሁ? Lucas: Perfect. ሶዳ እፈልጋለሁ. You've got it. Luna: And how do I ask if they have soda? Like at a café? Lucas: You can ask ሶዳ አለ? That means 'Is there soda?' or 'Do you have soda?' Luna: ሶዳ አለ? Okay, I can use that. Lucas: Let's do a quick roleplay. I'll be the server, you be the customer. Ready? Luna: Ready. Lucas: እንኳን ደህና መጡ! ምን ይፈልጋሉ? Luna: Umm, ወተት እፈልጋለሁ. Lucas: በጣም ጥሩ! Here's your milk. That was a great start. Now let's try again, but this time ask if we have soda first. Luna: ሶዳ አለ? Lucas: አዎ አለ. Yes, we have soda. Would you like one? Luna: ሶዳ እፈልጋለሁ. Lucas: Awesome.
