- 0:52Speaker 1: path to writing your book. I think you guys because

- 2:11Speaker 1: grateful and thankful for you guys tuning in. And before
- 2:19Speaker 1: we do anything, we always have to go to God
- 2:22Speaker 1: in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for bringing us
- 2:25Speaker 1: together on this thankful Thursday. Not only is it Thanksgiving,
- 2:30Speaker 1: but it is a day of gratitude and we are
- 2:33Speaker 1: thankful that you kept us in the number today. Let
- 2:37Speaker 1: us continue to make memories with our family or friends
- 2:39Speaker 1: that we still have here and those that we have lost.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Help them to under help us to understand that they
- 2:47Speaker 1: are in a better place. Because they are with you.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Let us not dwell on the fact that they are
- 2:52Speaker 1: not here, because they are at peace and we are
- 2:56Speaker 1: still waiting for our day to be with you. It's
- 3:00Speaker 1: just a holy name, Jesus, I pray Amen. All right, listen,
- 3:06Speaker 1: I have five, well four women that are coming on
- 3:10Speaker 1: tonight and they're gonna talk about the book from their
- 3:15Speaker 1: eyes anthology. Each one of these women are truly amazing women.
- 3:19Speaker 1: And not only did I have the luxury of being
- 3:22Speaker 1: a part of this book by being a co author,
- 3:25Speaker 1: I was able to be the editor and publisher for
- 3:29Speaker 1: this book. So I played many roles in this book,
- 3:33Speaker 1: but my role is very insignificant compared to the roles
- 3:36Speaker 1: that these other ladies have. So I have Latanya little John,
- 3:41Speaker 1: I have Harley Quinn, I have Natasha Robinson and lay
- 3:45Speaker 1: Tanya le Fair. So these women are part of this
- 3:50Speaker 1: book and this is part of us talking about this
- 3:55Speaker 1: book tonight. So ladies, okay, well we can hear you. Harley, Hey, Harley, Okay,
- 4:30Speaker 1: she's moving around. Okay, hey girl, can you hear me? Okay, Okay,
- 4:39Speaker 1: how you doing this evening? Mm hmmm mm hmmm. No,
- 4:49Speaker 1: I can hear you. I could earlier.
- 4:55Speaker 2: How about now?
- 4:58Speaker 1: Okay, I can who was that?
- 5:01Speaker 2: Hmm?
- 5:04Speaker 1: Okay, I can see Nati, I can't hear.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Mhm. I was frozen. I don't know why it's frozen
- 5:17Speaker 2: like that.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Well, you're not frozen now, Carley's moving around.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Well, it looks thro. It just looks frozen to me.
- 5:25Speaker 2: And I can barely hear you. Guys, I'm going to.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Nobody's really saying anything except for me right now.
- 5:37Speaker 2: You're here.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I can hear you now, Okay, Natasha, I can
- 5:45Speaker 1: hear you. Can you hear me?
- 5:50Speaker 2: Okay?
- 5:54Speaker 1: Well, anyway, I want everybody to take a moment to
- 5:58Speaker 1: introduce yourselves, and then we'll get started with talking about
- 6:02Speaker 1: the book. Telling you want to go first?
- 6:09Speaker 3: Okay?
- 6:10Speaker 4: I am on your little John. I am and Arthur
- 6:16Speaker 4: wrote my first book in eighteen.
- 6:21Speaker 3: I'm for Jesus best friend. Let's see, let's see, let's see.
- 6:26Speaker 4: I'm also the host of Delay but Not Denied podcast,
- 6:31Speaker 4: which fears.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Every second Monday and fourth Friday every month's end of time.
- 6:40Speaker 3: That's all o that?
- 6:43Speaker 1: Okay, do you want to go next? M okay? Who
- 7:01Speaker 1: wants to go next? Can y'all hear me? I think
- 7:09Speaker 1: everybody's just moving around and not really able to hear anything. Okay,
- 7:18Speaker 1: not just said said yes, she said. She was saying,
- 7:29Speaker 1: I'm not sure what's going on. I told lay Tanya
- 7:33Speaker 1: to go out and come back in and see if
- 7:37Speaker 1: that helped her audio. But anyway, you guys, listen, it's
- 7:43Speaker 1: always gonna be some technical difficulties. We were ran into
- 7:46Speaker 1: so many technical difficulties trying to get this book done anyway,
- 7:51Speaker 1: and so with us trying to even talk about this book,
- 7:54Speaker 1: lets me know just further how impactful this book is
- 7:58Speaker 1: about to be because it's all about from their eyes,
- 8:02Speaker 1: and it's basically where each one of the ladies, including myself,
- 8:06Speaker 1: talked about our experience as being raised by family members
- 8:13Speaker 1: and being in system and being adopted and a lot
- 8:18Speaker 1: of experiences that we each one of us had was
- 8:21Speaker 1: things that we had to overcome and it started the
- 8:25Speaker 1: healing journey for each individual person. So for myself, me
- 8:30Speaker 1: writing my story, I can hear you.
- 8:41Speaker 3: I hear you.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Yeah, we can hear you. I'm just not sure what's
- 8:51Speaker 1: going on with your phone. But I want to give
- 9:05Speaker 1: everybody an opportunity to share their experience through writing their
- 9:12Speaker 1: part for the book. Tanya let's talk about your journey
- 9:19Speaker 1: to writing for this book. What led you to even
- 9:23Speaker 1: be a part of this book?
- 9:26Speaker 3: Okay, well, Natasha.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Invited mute your phone.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Okay, thank you.
- 9:42Speaker 3: She invited me to be on the first book.
- 9:45Speaker 5: However, just going back to tell the stories which just
- 9:49Speaker 5: too much for me at the time, some of them,
- 9:53Speaker 5: to be a part of this one jumped on.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Because I feel like.
- 10:01Speaker 4: I can't be the only person that has endured, you know,
- 10:05Speaker 4: what I've gone through.
- 10:08Speaker 3: In the system.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 10:10Speaker 3: I was adopted at eighteen months old.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 10:15Speaker 3: My biological mother.
- 10:20Speaker 4: Was told that I would not live past the age
- 10:23Speaker 4: of nine, and they said it in order for me
- 10:29Speaker 4: to get the help that I needed, you know, she
- 10:32Speaker 4: would have to, you know, give me up or whatever.
- 10:38Speaker 4: She already had my brother, and she herself had a disability,
- 10:44Speaker 4: so she did what she thought was best for me,
- 10:48Speaker 4: you know, so that I could get the life that
- 10:51Speaker 4: she felt like I deserved.
- 10:55Speaker 3: I got adopted as an only child.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Kay.
- 11:00Speaker 4: My My parents didn't get foster children until I was twelve,
- 11:03Speaker 4: and by then I was over having cibils.
- 11:07Speaker 1: I didn't, you know, but.
- 11:13Speaker 3: Yes, m but the.
- 11:22Speaker 1: You're fine.
- 11:23Speaker 4: But I wasn't told the truth about my adoption. My
- 11:35Speaker 4: mom didn't want me to know that I was adopted.
- 11:37Speaker 4: She she didn't share that. He did get an information
- 11:42Speaker 4: until my son came along, and when he was a
- 11:47Speaker 4: year old, he started having seizures and they were trying
- 11:53Speaker 4: to find.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Out if it was her libitary or it was you know,
- 11:56Speaker 3: just something he was going through. Well, that that is
- 12:03Speaker 3: when I learned that I was out.
- 12:07Speaker 4: So from that moment until twenty ten, I searched high
- 12:16Speaker 4: and low looking for my biological family.
- 12:21Speaker 3: I came to Facebook and I saw two ladies. I
- 12:26Speaker 3: already knew my.
- 12:26Speaker 4: Mama's name because I found some information at the house
- 12:29Speaker 4: because of listen, I do better work than the FBI.
- 12:32Speaker 3: So I already knew my mama's name and started looking.
- 12:37Speaker 6: Up people with that last and I saw two ladies
- 12:41Speaker 6: that I felt like I.
- 12:42Speaker 4: Looked like, and I reached out to them, and one
- 12:47Speaker 4: of them responded back, And so she told me that
- 12:52Speaker 4: if I am indeed you know, her sister's daughter, you know,
- 12:56Speaker 4: she was gonna have to have a moment to break
- 12:59Speaker 4: it down to it because she was already in the
- 13:01Speaker 4: hospital dealing with some things. And so she told her
- 13:05Speaker 4: and my brother was in Afghanistan at the time, and
- 13:11Speaker 4: he called me, and immediately I just broke down frin
- 13:16Speaker 4: because I knew that, I mean, that voice was just
- 13:23Speaker 4: out of this world to me. But you know, fast
- 13:27Speaker 4: forward twenty fourteen. I was supposed to go back to
- 13:34Speaker 4: see my mom after my birthday, but it snowed and
- 13:40Speaker 4: we couldn't go anywhere until the snow somewhat melted. And
- 13:43Speaker 4: then when we got there, she was placed in hospice
- 13:49Speaker 4: and she wasn't given very long to live.
- 13:55Speaker 2: And I.
- 13:57Speaker 4: Had no idea what hospice was, like, I did, you know,
- 14:01Speaker 4: my dad did a house was carried home, but you know,
- 14:04Speaker 4: being in an actual facility, I didn't know what to
- 14:07Speaker 4: expect and what they do and how they operate.
- 14:09Speaker 3: So I was.
- 14:10Speaker 4: Trying to figure out why they hadn't brought anything in
- 14:14Speaker 4: there to feed my mom or you know, nobody came
- 14:18Speaker 4: to check her her.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Her ivs and stuff. It's like she was just laying there.
- 14:26Speaker 4: And so I asked the chaplain and he was telling me,
- 14:30Speaker 4: you know, she's trying to to go, and.
- 14:34Speaker 3: He said, and I feel like you're the one keeping
- 14:36Speaker 3: her here.
- 14:38Speaker 4: And so I I went out into the hall and
- 14:44Speaker 4: called my husband and told him. I was like, listen this,
- 14:47Speaker 4: Manden told me my mama was about to pass and.
- 14:52Speaker 3: That I need to stay.
- 14:54Speaker 4: And as I'm telling him this, I see the the
- 15:00Speaker 4: priest and my aunt coming up the hall, and by
- 15:04Speaker 4: the looks on their face, I already knew, you know,
- 15:07Speaker 4: she had already passed or whatever. And for me, it
- 15:14Speaker 4: took me thirty one years to find her, and now
- 15:22Speaker 4: she's been gone longer than I've known her. And I'm
- 15:29Speaker 4: trusting God with it. Although I don't I don't find
- 15:32Speaker 4: the fairness in it.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Because we didn't even get four years.
- 15:37Speaker 4: We got three years and eleven months, ten months before
- 15:42Speaker 4: she passed.
- 15:43Speaker 1: And but.
- 15:47Speaker 3: It has definitely been a challenge.
- 15:51Speaker 4: It makes me look at foster care different being in
- 15:54Speaker 4: the way that I was brought up. I feel like
- 15:58Speaker 4: if they should do, definitely do something deeper than just
- 16:02Speaker 4: background checks. People should be evaluated mentally, because even if
- 16:11Speaker 4: you pass a.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Background check, if you're not there mentally.
- 16:15Speaker 4: Then that child is still gonna come up missing something
- 16:19Speaker 4: that you know that they need to process through life.
- 16:23Speaker 4: So you know, it's been crazy, Like my my mom
- 16:29Speaker 4: hoddled me that didn't want to teach me how to cook.
- 16:34Speaker 3: She didn't want to teach me how to drive.
- 16:36Speaker 4: She didn't want me doing anything because I had a disability.
- 16:40Speaker 4: So she used that to make me feel like if
- 16:44Speaker 4: you breathe on me, I'm gonna break.
- 16:47Speaker 3: And you know, but I am thankful for.
- 16:50Speaker 4: The people that have stepped into my life throughout the
- 16:54Speaker 4: years to teach me certain things. And you know, I
- 16:58Speaker 4: got my license although she didn't want me to drive.
- 17:02Speaker 3: I'm getting a car Sunday.
- 17:06Speaker 1: Congratulation.
- 17:09Speaker 4: And I've gotten to a place where I don't put
- 17:15Speaker 4: myself on anybody else's timetable.
- 17:19Speaker 3: That's for me.
- 17:19Speaker 4: It's for me, and whether it be or for one,
- 17:24Speaker 4: you know, nobody can stop where He has planned for,
- 17:28Speaker 4: ordained for my life.
- 17:29Speaker 3: So, you know, being forty five and just now.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Getting a car, you know a lot of people look
- 17:37Speaker 4: at me like, you know what you've been doing all
- 17:40Speaker 4: your life?
- 17:40Speaker 1: And that's one thing you got to understand in this
- 17:43Speaker 1: life is that everybody has a certain timetable and that's
- 17:46Speaker 1: according to what God's will is and his planing for
- 17:49Speaker 1: our lives. And so it doesn't matter what man says,
- 17:52Speaker 1: it's always what in that day. And so we oftentimes
- 17:58Speaker 1: try to give her sales a timeline, but if it's
- 18:01Speaker 1: not on why I was playing, it does matter. So
- 18:05Speaker 1: you've got to be mindful of that. But so too Harley,
- 18:11Speaker 1: and have her tell us why she decided to be
- 18:16Speaker 1: part of this book. Harley, are you there?
- 18:32Speaker 6: Hey?
- 18:32Speaker 1: Girl?
- 18:34Speaker 6: Guilty?
- 18:35Speaker 1: Are you guys talking to me now?
- 18:37Speaker 2: Yes?
- 18:39Speaker 7: Okay, I've been trying to get everything all set up.
- 18:41Speaker 7: I finally can hear you, hear you properly, And I
- 18:45Speaker 7: don't know if you could see me.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I'm still.
- 18:52Speaker 7: Your microphone is I think?
- 18:54Speaker 2: I her podcast? Happy?
- 19:03Speaker 7: Thanksgiving everyone.
- 19:06Speaker 2: To you?
- 19:07Speaker 1: All right about yourself? And why do you decide?
- 19:15Speaker 2: Well? I believe in signs.
- 19:17Speaker 7: I actually have a mutual friend with Natasha, and I
- 19:22Speaker 7: happened to be on her page and then Natasha's post
- 19:28Speaker 7: came up and that's how I ended up finding out
- 19:32Speaker 7: about the book and through that I was like, you know,
- 19:35Speaker 7: this is this is something that I've in that time
- 19:39Speaker 7: I have been talking about doing. So I felt like
- 19:43Speaker 7: it was time to do make the move.
- 19:47Speaker 8: I am.
- 19:49Speaker 7: I initially have been raised by family. Yeah, family that
- 19:55Speaker 7: words still kind of sort of is being defined for.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Me, Deliers.
- 20:02Speaker 7: I don't usually I don't know I'm people. I feel
- 20:06Speaker 7: like I'm just peopophobic because I've been let down so much,
- 20:11Speaker 7: like in my inner circle. That is just I don't know.
- 20:15Speaker 7: I hold I hold the word like treasure. It's not
- 20:21Speaker 7: blood that makes this family at all, you know. So
- 20:26Speaker 7: I like have a nursing family and like outside family,
- 20:31Speaker 7: but the bloodline is just it's a little it's a
- 20:34Speaker 7: little yep. So I feel like the syllabus, it just
- 20:40Speaker 7: definitely spoke to me. It's something that I needed help
- 20:44Speaker 7: on in the first place. And I had just came
- 20:46Speaker 7: to a point where I had a code nurse and
- 20:49Speaker 7: she just kept saying, just write your story.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Just write your story, girl, just write your story.
- 20:54Speaker 7: And sure enough I would write it, but I didn't
- 20:57Speaker 7: like do anything with it. So on the opper, Choose
- 21:00Speaker 7: Me came about through you guys, I definitely was like this,
- 21:04Speaker 7: this is my moment.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, okay, well let's go. Let's and asked her
- 21:15Speaker 1: while she decided decided to be part of the book.
- 21:23Speaker 9: Okay, okay, late time you are you there?
- 21:37Speaker 1: Okay?
- 21:37Speaker 2: Well, okay, can you hear me now? Can you hear
- 21:39Speaker 2: me now?
- 21:40Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 21:41Speaker 2: Okay, okay, I'm na go pressed the mute button. I'm sorry.
- 21:43Speaker 2: About that well. Initially, when I was asked to do
- 21:47Speaker 2: the book, to be part of the book, I was like, okay,
- 21:51Speaker 2: And then when I got off the phone, I said
- 21:53Speaker 2: what did I just say? I was like, what did
- 21:57Speaker 2: I just do? And then I have been told for
- 22:01Speaker 2: years that I should write a book. I've always been
- 22:05Speaker 2: told that because people tells me the person that I
- 22:09Speaker 2: am is not a reflection of what I've been through.
- 22:12Speaker 2: And so I was like, I was like, well, okay,
- 22:19Speaker 2: I'm gonna go hear and write it because I know
- 22:23Speaker 2: there's people out there right now, especially young girls coming up,
- 22:27Speaker 2: that have been through what I've been through, and you
- 22:30Speaker 2: just can't let it get to you now. Don't get
- 22:32Speaker 2: me wrong. It's a fighting battle just about every day.
- 22:36Speaker 2: It's not something that I just transition over. It's like,
- 22:39Speaker 2: oh yeah, it's all flower and roses. No, but it's
- 22:43Speaker 2: something I have to learn how to cope with, coping
- 22:46Speaker 2: mechanisms just a lot, and believe it, I'm still healing.
- 22:52Speaker 2: And by me writing the book, it just me writing
- 22:57Speaker 2: my story. I apologize. It just has me relive things
- 23:01Speaker 2: that I thought that I had just forgot about. And
- 23:06Speaker 2: as I was writing, I was crying plenty of days
- 23:09Speaker 2: I cried. It was days I was just embarrassed. But
- 23:12Speaker 2: that's okay. It's not where you been, it's where you're going.
- 23:16Speaker 2: So that's why I thought it was important for me
- 23:20Speaker 2: to do it. But like I said, I was going
- 23:22Speaker 2: back and forth with myself plenty of days, like Okay,
- 23:25Speaker 2: do I want to get out of this? But I'm
- 23:27Speaker 2: glad I didn't. It was very therapeutic for me. It
- 23:33Speaker 2: helped me heal a lot. I'm not totally healed, but
- 23:38Speaker 2: I know that by it helped. By me helping myself
- 23:43Speaker 2: writing it, writing my story, I know someone else can
- 23:47Speaker 2: be like, wow, I've been through the same thing and
- 23:49Speaker 2: look at her. So that's why I felt as though
- 23:53Speaker 2: that it was very important because I've been through the trenches.
- 23:58Speaker 2: So yeah, that's why.
- 24:01Speaker 1: All right, Well, did let's talk to you about yourself?
- 24:06Speaker 1: Introduce yourself to the listeners, and then tell us why
- 24:10Speaker 1: you decided to be part of this book. Did can
- 24:19Speaker 1: you hear us? All right? Well, let's go to the
- 24:29Speaker 1: woman who basically put this all together, and that's Natasha.
- 24:34Speaker 1: She had the idea for this anthology. And let's go
- 24:41Speaker 1: to Natasha.
- 24:48Speaker 2: I know some people was having a hard time, like
- 24:50Speaker 2: myself hearing.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Uh, well, listen, I don't know what's going on tonight,
- 24:58Speaker 1: but I will say this, this book has so many
- 25:03Speaker 1: powerful stories in it, and from the very beginning, it
- 25:08Speaker 1: has been a delay with getting the book even done
- 25:13Speaker 1: because there were different authors who had originally signed up
- 25:17Speaker 1: and then most of them backed out and then came
- 25:21Speaker 1: to a new group of people. And all of these
- 25:27Speaker 1: people have a different, different experiences than different stories, but
- 25:35Speaker 1: their stories are so so powerful that whenever you glorify
- 25:40Speaker 1: what God has brought you through, it tends to make
- 25:46Speaker 1: the devil very upset and make him angry to where
- 25:49Speaker 1: he tries to block everything that you're doubling and anything
- 25:52Speaker 1: that's attached to it, because he wants you to stay
- 25:55Speaker 1: where he's had you for so long, and you'll be
- 25:59Speaker 1: will and to just stay in that space and be like, man,
- 26:03Speaker 1: I don't even want to do this no more. It's
- 26:06Speaker 1: not even meant for me to do. And I'm grateful
- 26:09Speaker 1: that each one of you stuck to it to make
- 26:12Speaker 1: this part of your first journey of healing and to
- 26:19Speaker 1: be in a space to where sharing your story with
- 26:22Speaker 1: someone else to begin that healing process, because I know
- 26:26Speaker 1: it took a lot of courage for each person to
- 26:29Speaker 1: share that intimate part themselves and to share their most
- 26:35Speaker 1: vulnerable spot and not even knowing if anybody else was
- 26:38Speaker 1: going to work. I know we're worried about the judgment
- 26:42Speaker 1: that comes with this kind of stuff. Okay, Natasha, are
- 26:50Speaker 1: you able? Can you hear me? Yes? Yes? Don't okay, yes,
- 27:14Speaker 1: I can see you. All right, you are the visionary
- 27:20Speaker 1: behind this book. Tell us what made you want to
- 27:24Speaker 1: do this book? Mm hm m.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Hm hm.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Nine. Well, thank you for having the vision to ask
- 30:00Speaker 1: Sally put it out there. And it was always God's design,
- 30:06Speaker 1: God's plan for the right people to be able to
- 30:10Speaker 1: execute the vision that you back. Ned. Can you hear us?
- 30:17Speaker 1: I don't know if she can hear us, d d no,
- 30:25Speaker 1: can you hear me? Let me try to text her.
- 30:49Speaker 1: I don't know. See so I don't know, but I
- 30:59Speaker 1: want to be able to hear from her as well.
- 31:02Speaker 1: But you know, guys, it's it's been a challenge all
- 31:06Speaker 1: the way through from the beginning with this book and
- 31:09Speaker 1: to where we are right now and all of the
- 31:12Speaker 1: things that we have to say about this book and
- 31:16Speaker 1: the powerful stories. Listen, just go and go to Amazon
- 31:22Speaker 1: and buy the book. That's all I'm gonna say, each
- 31:25Speaker 1: one of us, myself to be the Harris, Latanya Litlison,
- 31:30Speaker 1: Natasha Robinson, Latania Lafair Queen, and Nagic Scott. All of
- 31:37Speaker 1: us are part of this book and it is available
- 31:39Speaker 1: on Amazon. So just don't get the book because I'm
- 31:44Speaker 1: telling you the Devil doesn't want anybody to read this book.
- 31:52Speaker 1: It doesn't want anything to it don't want want nobody
- 31:58Speaker 1: to know what these stories are are. I didn't introduce
- 32:03Speaker 1: myself to y'all, but you know my role in this book.
- 32:07Speaker 1: But I shared my story, and my story is basically this.
- 32:12Speaker 1: I wasn't raised by my mother or my father. I
- 32:16Speaker 1: spent maybe one year at the age of eight with
- 32:19Speaker 1: my mom. Outside of that, I was raised my mom, sister,
- 32:25Speaker 1: and my great great aunt. So with them it was
- 32:30Speaker 1: an experience. And you know, oftentimes, you know in the
- 32:34Speaker 1: black household, it is what happens in this house stays
- 32:37Speaker 1: in this house. That is actually the mentality. Growing up
- 32:43Speaker 1: in the household was one of those things where they
- 32:49Speaker 1: wasn' very nice to my mom and so with that
- 32:52Speaker 1: they trickled down to me. They were able to break
- 32:56Speaker 1: my mom in the sense of calling her crazy. So
- 33:00Speaker 1: my mom turned to drugs and alcohol. That was my thing.
- 33:06Speaker 1: That still isn't my thing, but being consistently told that
- 33:12Speaker 1: I was going to turn out to be a drunk,
- 33:15Speaker 1: I was going to be addicted to drugs and all
- 33:20Speaker 1: of those things. But it didn't work because I'm none
- 33:25Speaker 1: of those things. So all of the things they told
- 33:30Speaker 1: me that I would not do, They said I wouldn't
- 33:32Speaker 1: graduate high school, because I had my daughter. I graduated
- 33:35Speaker 1: high school. None of them showed up for my graduation.
- 33:38Speaker 7: You know.
- 33:39Speaker 1: My mother was drunk. She showed up for my graduation,
- 33:43Speaker 1: you know. So, And it's one of those things that
- 33:46Speaker 1: people want to see you down and out and broken.
- 33:51Speaker 1: Sometimes are the ones that is closest to you to
- 33:56Speaker 1: be the better version of that in them, because they
- 33:59Speaker 1: didn't from the I'm gonna say it this way, the
- 34:03Speaker 1: personal hell that they created for themselves. They want everyone
- 34:07Speaker 1: else to be in that hell too, And you can
- 34:11Speaker 1: either choose to stay in that hell or you can
- 34:13Speaker 1: choose to get out. My thing is whatever we meant
- 34:16Speaker 1: for you, that's your plan, that's not mine, and I'm
- 34:19Speaker 1: not gonna stay there, so's they can mean some time
- 34:22Speaker 1: to understand, but I'm not what they called me. I
- 34:27Speaker 1: am only what I choose to answer to. And that's
- 34:30Speaker 1: one of the things that I need everybody to understand.
- 34:33Speaker 1: You only answer to what you've been called. And if
- 34:36Speaker 1: God has not called you by your name to do
- 34:39Speaker 1: anything else. What other people got to say about you,
- 34:41Speaker 1: that ain't even your business, It ain't got nothing to
- 34:44Speaker 1: do with you, because their opinion of you means nothing.
- 34:48Speaker 1: You know, you have people who truly love you and
- 34:50Speaker 1: care about you, and they are always gonna speak life
- 34:54Speaker 1: into you. You're gonna pour into you so that you
- 34:57Speaker 1: can pour into other people. So if you have people
- 35:00Speaker 1: around you her constantly trying to deplete your cup, those
- 35:03Speaker 1: are people that you need to stay away from because
- 35:06Speaker 1: if you have somebody that's consistently pourn in, your cup
- 35:09Speaker 1: will flop soon overflow, and so it can overflow to
- 35:13Speaker 1: someone else. And that's what I'm grateful that I'm able
- 35:18Speaker 1: to do. My overflow goes to other people. It doesn't
- 35:21Speaker 1: stay with me. But I also learned not to deplete myself,
- 35:25Speaker 1: and that was hard listen to learn. One of the
- 35:29Speaker 1: lessons from myself that I'm learning is to celebrate me
- 35:33Speaker 1: and to celebrate my accomplishments, because as I was reading
- 35:37Speaker 1: the blog for the magazine, I was in awe and
- 35:42Speaker 1: I was in tears of the things that I've been
- 35:44Speaker 1: able to accomplish that I was told I would never accomplish.
- 35:48Speaker 1: But I them now, so I'm so far from that
- 35:53Speaker 1: little girl that they told me I would never amount
- 35:55Speaker 1: to anything, that I was just dumb and stupid and
- 35:58Speaker 1: was just gonna be a get to the drugs, just
- 36:00Speaker 1: like my mom. I wasn't gonna do anything except for that.
- 36:05Speaker 1: And all I can say is you try out, So
- 36:14Speaker 1: you did. Can you hear us now?
- 36:19Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 36:20Speaker 1: I think Okay, if your own speaker, I think that's
- 36:23Speaker 1: probably why I won't work. But tell us a little
- 36:27Speaker 1: bit about yourself and why you decided to be part
- 36:30Speaker 1: of this book.
- 36:34Speaker 6: Okay, my name is got Bed everybody, and I wanted
- 36:42Speaker 6: to be a part of this because it was time
- 36:46Speaker 6: for me to do something and to write something that
- 36:50Speaker 6: I've been trying to do since I was probably my lad.
- 36:53Speaker 6: Every time I would tell my stories to people, they
- 36:56Speaker 6: would just say that needs to be in a book.
- 36:57Speaker 6: That needs to be in a book.
- 36:59Speaker 1: And every time I try around.
- 37:00Speaker 6: Like okay, father, when we're going to do this, we'll
- 37:03Speaker 6: go through this, and the time final became and it
- 37:06Speaker 6: was time for me to tell my story.
- 37:12Speaker 1: Well, are you happy that you made the decision to
- 37:15Speaker 1: be part of.
- 37:19Speaker 8: Almost?
- 37:20Speaker 6: Definitely, most definitely. I mean it's a very real feelings
- 37:25Speaker 6: to see your name on the course.
- 37:28Speaker 1: I mean, a doctor.
- 37:31Speaker 6: Parents will be very proud because this is my bottom
- 37:34Speaker 6: book about me. But it's a foot to honor them.
- 37:37Speaker 6: If I wanted to get to let people or adoption
- 37:41Speaker 6: stories and be great, and mine was great. I went
- 37:46Speaker 6: from being in a court to care child to the
- 37:50Speaker 6: nurse who was caring for me to be an adopted soul,
- 37:54Speaker 6: and it all just like God had his hands all
- 37:56Speaker 6: over the fire story for myself.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Okay, Well, this question for everybody whoever chooses take first
- 38:08Speaker 1: is when you realize that you have completed your chapter
- 38:16Speaker 1: for this book, what was the feeling that you got?
- 38:24Speaker 1: For me, it was.
- 38:28Speaker 3: A feeling of healing.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 38:31Speaker 4: I mean, everything pertaining to my adoption and my disability
- 38:40Speaker 4: together like they're like the building that queens I can't
- 38:43Speaker 4: talk about what I'm talking about the other. And this
- 38:49Speaker 4: gave me an opportunity to expound on things that I.
- 38:56Speaker 3: Didn't put in my original book, you know.
- 38:59Speaker 4: So I was able to go back and you know,
- 39:03Speaker 4: reread some things and just you know, you know, I
- 39:09Speaker 4: got the spirit of procrastination. So I had a minute
- 39:13Speaker 4: to sit with myself and say, Okay, we got to
- 39:17Speaker 4: get this done. And because somebody's.
- 39:19Speaker 3: Healing, maybe.
- 39:45Speaker 2: Let it go. Because I got tired of changing it
- 39:47Speaker 2: because I was like, ooh, I want to take this
- 39:51Speaker 2: part and put this part in. Take this part and
- 39:53Speaker 2: put this part in, take this out and put this in.
- 39:56Speaker 2: And so when I started it in, I was so happy.
- 40:00Speaker 2: I was so excited, and I was just like, I
- 40:03Speaker 2: can't wait until people read it. So that those were
- 40:07Speaker 2: my my emotions because it was like, oh yeah, yeah,
- 40:11Speaker 2: I'm gonna do this, like change this and changed that,
- 40:14Speaker 2: and I was like, huh, okay, this is this is it.
- 40:17Speaker 2: And then I was just I felt so released. I
- 40:20Speaker 2: can't describe it, but me writing it and let it go,
- 40:24Speaker 2: it just felt really good and uh and I was excited.
- 40:28Speaker 2: So I had a lot of good emotions.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, who's next.
- 40:40Speaker 7: I've already knew I'd be the third one, sure enough.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Huh.
- 40:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:45Speaker 7: By the time I finished my my part of the anthology.
- 40:50Speaker 2: I felt that thing since relief, more so that.
- 40:55Speaker 7: I got some of it off of my chest, like
- 40:57Speaker 7: this is the first step, I gom on. I don't
- 41:00Speaker 7: want to say that as young or that I felt accomplished.
- 41:05Speaker 7: I just felt a sense of beginning, like all right,
- 41:09Speaker 7: y'all better be prepared because this is the first step.
- 41:13Speaker 7: You know, there is way more to be told, more
- 41:16Speaker 7: in depth, had in order for me to heal. So
- 41:22Speaker 7: it's just kind of sort of taking that accountability that
- 41:25Speaker 7: there's healing to be had.
- 41:33Speaker 1: I think the last person we haven't heard from with
- 41:36Speaker 1: that question is Dad.
- 41:40Speaker 6: Well, for me, it was that's a real feeling because
- 41:45Speaker 6: it was like God was calling it needed to get
- 41:47Speaker 6: out there and to be able to know that the
- 41:51Speaker 6: start for me to complete my story because it's nothing
- 41:57Speaker 6: but God, because I never thought I have a resume
- 42:01Speaker 6: that an awsome. You never thought that would be a
- 42:04Speaker 6: possibility in my fire life, so that there's nothing but
- 42:08Speaker 6: God has I'm on this anxise situation and I just
- 42:11Speaker 6: I'm so blessed to be a part of it with
- 42:12Speaker 6: you all because it's just amazing meause what it's gonna
- 42:16Speaker 6: do is going to touch so many people. I believe,
- 42:19Speaker 6: and I am so thankful and grateful to be a.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Part of this group. M well you're good.
- 42:31Speaker 6: H m hm h.
- 42:47Speaker 2: M kah, yeah, kah.
- 43:00Speaker 9: Kah kay.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 43:38Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Everybody did their their fair share of this book. I've
- 43:48Speaker 1: had the the honor and.
- 43:57Speaker 3: We can't hear you.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Okay, there we go. My computer just did an update
- 44:05Speaker 1: or something. I have no idea in the middle of
- 44:07Speaker 1: all of this, so, you know, like I said, the
- 44:11Speaker 1: devil want to play when we got other things to do,
- 44:13Speaker 1: and I'm not even you know, interested in what you
- 44:16Speaker 1: got to talk about. But I played major, many different
- 44:21Speaker 1: roles with putting this book together. And we had a
- 44:25Speaker 1: hurricane that came through, Hurricane tornado, all of these things
- 44:29Speaker 1: that once so I was without power for ten and
- 44:32Speaker 1: a half days, and so it's always a challenge. I
- 44:38Speaker 1: will say that that guy always puts me in a
- 44:41Speaker 1: space to where it's like, Okay, you're gonna be with ty,
- 44:46Speaker 1: gonna even work with our power. Like the last book
- 44:50Speaker 1: when me and Tasha did together, my mom was in
- 44:53Speaker 1: the middle of transitioning over and I didn't have laptop
- 44:57Speaker 1: with me, so it was so many anything that we're
- 45:01Speaker 1: playing against me to make sure that that deadline was
- 45:05Speaker 1: meant and then this deadline was met, and then we
- 45:09Speaker 1: had the issue with Amazon and so many different things
- 45:12Speaker 1: that were playing against making this book available. That let
- 45:17Speaker 1: me know just how powerful the stories are. And with
- 45:21Speaker 1: me just getting the stories and reading them and putting
- 45:24Speaker 1: them together, it was one of those things where it's like, Okay,
- 45:28Speaker 1: this book has the power to change lives, to let
- 45:32Speaker 1: people know that they don't have to be ashamed of
- 45:34Speaker 1: the things that they've gone through in life. Everything that
- 45:37Speaker 1: they have gone through was necessary. That you may be
- 45:41Speaker 1: hitting with some roadblocks and some things and things like, Okay, God,
- 45:47Speaker 1: I pray it for this, but I'm trying to go upheel,
- 45:50Speaker 1: but you got me going down in the valley to
- 45:52Speaker 1: get to where I'm going when I see my destination
- 45:56Speaker 1: is straight ahead. But now you done took me down
- 45:58Speaker 1: in the dirt. Why am I in the dirt? Well,
- 46:01Speaker 1: you gotta be down in the dirt, and you gotta
- 46:03Speaker 1: be dirty sometimes because God is taking you through some
- 46:07Speaker 1: things to understand that you have to go through this
- 46:10Speaker 1: in order for him to see if you're really worthy
- 46:13Speaker 1: of what it is that you've been praying for. Because
- 46:16Speaker 1: sometimes we pray for things that is not even in
- 46:18Speaker 1: God's plans for us, and we try so hard to
- 46:22Speaker 1: make those things happen, and when it doesn't happen, you
- 46:25Speaker 1: want to get mad at the world and you want
- 46:27Speaker 1: to get mad at God. And God Like, I never
- 46:29Speaker 1: intended for that to be yours in the first place.
- 46:31Speaker 1: So if I never intended it for you, there's no
- 46:34Speaker 1: reason for you to be trying to fight for this.
- 46:36Speaker 1: I need you to let it go and move forward.
- 46:38Speaker 1: And what I'm telling you to do, we.
- 46:41Speaker 2: Get hard with it.
- 46:42Speaker 1: We want to say, Okay, God, look I want this,
- 46:45Speaker 1: and God like, I don't care what you want. Told
- 46:47Speaker 1: you this is what you're gonna get, So gonna do
- 46:49Speaker 1: what I told you.
- 46:51Speaker 6: You know.
- 46:51Speaker 1: It's those things that be mondful of. And I'm so
- 46:56Speaker 1: grateful to be a part of this book with you guys,
- 47:01Speaker 1: and to even be in this moment right now. It's
- 47:04Speaker 1: a moment of gratitude, it's a moment of things. It's
- 47:06Speaker 1: a moment of humbleness because without you, guys, there's no
- 47:12Speaker 1: mean and without me, there's no you guys. To get
- 47:16Speaker 1: this book done, you know, Yeah, of.
- 47:19Speaker 8: Course there's many other publishers out there to do all
- 47:23Speaker 8: of this, but I feel like I bring a special
- 47:26Speaker 8: touch to what I do simply because I'm always.
- 47:29Speaker 1: Available if you have any questions, and if I don't
- 47:32Speaker 1: know the answer, I'm gonna find somebody and I'm gonna
- 47:34Speaker 1: figure out the answer. You know, I'm not one of
- 47:38Speaker 1: those people to say, you know, I got all the answers,
- 47:41Speaker 1: I do it right the first time, because I don't.
- 47:44Speaker 1: I will tend to be quick fast in a hurt,
- 47:46Speaker 1: and I take up for y'all even when people be
- 47:49Speaker 1: wanting to say because I know. Tasha has sent me
- 47:52Speaker 1: a message one time where this lady was like, why
- 47:54Speaker 1: are you making people relive there trauma? Ma'am, this ain't
- 47:58Speaker 1: o business. If you don't want to relive your trauma,
- 48:01Speaker 1: that's fine. They ain't got nothing to do with what
- 48:04Speaker 1: other people want to share. You know. Some people like
- 48:08Speaker 1: to hold on to their trump and never blow from
- 48:11Speaker 1: it and never heal from it, and they wonder why
- 48:14Speaker 1: they're so heavy. When you start to live that stuff
- 48:17Speaker 1: off of you and unpack the baggage that you have,
- 48:21Speaker 1: you end up freeing yourself from somebody else's bondage. Because
- 48:25Speaker 1: I had to realize this, I was carrying the burdens
- 48:29Speaker 1: of my mother for so long, and I had to
- 48:32Speaker 1: give her her burdens back because they didn't belong to me.
- 48:35Speaker 1: They were hurst to carry and they were hurst to bear.
- 48:39Speaker 1: And the instant I was able to let go of
- 48:41Speaker 1: what I was carrying for her, I feel myself. But
- 48:45Speaker 1: I also learned to set boundaries with other people, and
- 48:49Speaker 1: being able to set those boundaries, being able to heal.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Doing all of that stuff was necessary. Now, before we
- 48:56Speaker 1: close out, does anybody want to say anything about the book,
- 49:00Speaker 1: where they can find it, how they can contact you guys,
- 49:03Speaker 1: because this is only the beginning for you, guys, especially
- 49:06Speaker 1: the new authors. This was her prelude to your next book,
- 49:11Speaker 1: to your next story, and this is just the beginning
- 49:14Speaker 1: for you to be able to share the completed version
- 49:18Speaker 1: of your story. This is just your dusk. So y'all
- 49:23Speaker 1: know I told you all that the first time. I'm
- 49:25Speaker 1: gonna tell you that again. So if you ain't working
- 49:28Speaker 1: on your next book, I don't know what you're doing.
- 49:32Speaker 1: So we need to get it together and start working
- 49:35Speaker 1: on the next week. You got ninety days, okay, three months, you.
- 49:44Speaker 2: Got so will it be like like like you see
- 49:49Speaker 2: the our chapters in a book. So will it be
- 49:53Speaker 2: that and it just be more added on to it?
- 49:56Speaker 1: No? No, no, no, you gonna start your store your book.
- 50:01Speaker 3: This is your book.
- 50:02Speaker 1: This is this your book. Okay, this was your introduction.
- 50:09Speaker 2: Wow.
- 50:12Speaker 1: I don't try to tell you now the hope but
- 50:15Speaker 1: the head. Yes.
- 50:20Speaker 2: Now now listen, why y'all go wan you?
- 50:24Speaker 1: I told you?
- 50:28Speaker 2: Why was it up here? Smiling hard, nervous though.
- 50:34Speaker 1: Yeah, you got three months?
- 50:37Speaker 2: But I like that, So yeah, is it gonna be?
- 50:43Speaker 2: Is it gonna be all? Our story is gonna be?
- 50:47Speaker 1: No? No, no, this is your individual book. This is
- 50:50Speaker 1: yours by yourself story of like Tanga fair girl.
- 50:55Speaker 2: You say, get the red carpet and.
- 50:57Speaker 1: Bring out the private jet for you.
- 51:00Speaker 2: You not just the fake long cigarette right right?
- 51:09Speaker 1: That is it, honey, So get you.
- 51:12Speaker 8: Now?
- 51:13Speaker 2: Okay, okay, Because I kept saying, even though we had
- 51:17Speaker 2: six thousand words to do, I know I had like
- 51:19Speaker 2: three more thousand ago.
- 51:21Speaker 1: So now you can go ahead and expand on that
- 51:25Speaker 1: because yeah, and you better come up with your title.
- 51:28Speaker 1: If you need some help with that, I got you too.
- 51:31Speaker 1: But you know this is what we at so you
- 51:34Speaker 1: got three months to eat it together.
- 51:37Speaker 9: I can do that Okay, all right, so I can
- 51:43Speaker 9: do that.
- 51:44Speaker 1: To start working on it because you already have so
- 51:47Speaker 1: like I said, this is your continuation to your book,
- 51:50Speaker 1: to your story. This was the beginning of your healing journey.
- 51:54Speaker 1: You still got a lot more to say, a lot
- 51:57Speaker 1: I do, So go ahead and your little pin and
- 52:01Speaker 1: your little paper together and get your book.
- 52:04Speaker 6: Yep.
- 52:05Speaker 2: So wow, I can do that.
- 52:09Speaker 1: You know, I'm gonna put you on the spot. You know,
- 52:12Speaker 1: I've learned from the best. Here she's listening, So it's
- 52:17Speaker 1: just a book paid Paige from her book. What I've
- 52:22Speaker 1: see in you is what I've seen in myself, and
- 52:25Speaker 1: whatever you need, I'm here to help you to bring
- 52:30Speaker 1: it forward. That little uncomfortable space. You can say that
- 52:35Speaker 1: for a little while, but just know that I'm around
- 52:38Speaker 1: to push you out.
- 52:39Speaker 2: And you know what, and you know what's so crazy too,
- 52:42Speaker 2: because you know, like I've been told that I should
- 52:47Speaker 2: just write my book and everything and one thing, and
- 52:50Speaker 2: I have to be honest. But it's okay, dub the
- 52:55Speaker 2: book like the first book where we put our story in.
- 52:57Speaker 2: I feel safe be nobody knows which one is my story.
- 53:03Speaker 2: You see what I'm saying. They will actually put a
- 53:07Speaker 2: face to the story and it's like, oh, but I
- 53:11Speaker 2: didn't take it on. I could take it on. I
- 53:15Speaker 2: think I can handle that.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Listen, it's okay. It's really taking the blinders off yourself
- 53:21Speaker 1: and actually being open and honest with yourself. When I
- 53:25Speaker 1: did overcome and childhood trauma my journey to healing, that
- 53:29Speaker 1: was a real eye opener for myself. For the simple right,
- 53:34Speaker 1: I went through the relationship with my mom, I went
- 53:39Speaker 1: through the relationship with my dad. I looked at how
- 53:42Speaker 1: it affected the raising of my children and so on
- 53:45Speaker 1: and so forth, and it allowed me to understand that
- 53:49Speaker 1: my children didn't get to see me. They didn't get
- 53:54Speaker 1: to see the softer side. My children is one superwoman
- 53:57Speaker 1: and I am, and so I had to apologize to
- 54:02Speaker 1: them for that because they needed to see the softer
- 54:05Speaker 1: version of their mom. They think I can do anything,
- 54:08Speaker 1: and I actually trying to tell them I have failed
- 54:10Speaker 1: so many times, and every time I try to tell
- 54:13Speaker 1: them I feel that something, they don't want to hear
- 54:14Speaker 1: none of that. So it's just nuddling for it. And
- 54:18Speaker 1: with a lot of the accomplishments that I had had
- 54:23Speaker 1: with these kids, what okay, okay, so what else? And like, Okay,
- 54:34Speaker 1: I didn't know you're gonna do. We don't know, and
- 54:44Speaker 1: I'm like I don't even want to tell me, and
- 54:50Speaker 1: so so you know, but I am great, guys, guy,
- 54:57Speaker 1: thank you for being.
- 55:00Speaker 2: If I.
- 55:03Speaker 1: Close, no no, no where hours, I think you guys.
- 55:20Speaker 6: With me.
- 55:22Speaker 1: You know, my closing statement is always this and it
- 55:26Speaker 1: will forever be this, and that is and that is.
- 55:35Speaker 1: I love y'all. Y'all, y'all have a good y'all.
- 55:41Speaker 2: Have a good one.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Good night, good night.
