- 2:07Speaker 6: Haven't had this Shitwleman on in a while. Our good friend,
- 2:09Speaker 6: Pastor Marlon Collins from here in Charleston, is going to
- 2:12Speaker 6: be on the show. I love getting Pastor Collins's take
- 2:14Speaker 6: on things. But we're going to talk a little sports
- 2:17Speaker 6: with Pastor Collins today and it has to do with
- 2:19Speaker 6: last week's NFL draft and what many people consider to
- 2:24Speaker 6: be a snub of Sirdir Sanders and what are the
- 2:29Speaker 6: reasons behind that. Pastor Collins thinks it goes a little
- 2:31Speaker 6: bit deeper than on the field ability, So we're going
- 2:34Speaker 6: to talk about that with him coming up a little
- 2:36Speaker 6: bit later on. Also say Democratic Party chairing Delegate Mike
- 2:39Speaker 6: Pushkin will be stopping by as well. He's excited because

- 3:00Speaker 6: fine sponsors on the show, The Folks that meets Rentals
- 3:02Speaker 6: and Leasing and from time to time we like to
- 3:04Speaker 6: give our sponsors a little time on the show. Today
- 3:06Speaker 6: we have Thor Meeks, the owner of Meeks Rentals and Leasing,
- 3:09Speaker 6: on the show with us. Good morning, sir, welcome to
- 3:12Speaker 6: the airwaves.
- 3:14Speaker 7: Good morning Dave.
- 3:14Speaker 6: How are you doing fine? I appreciate you being here.
- 3:17Speaker 6: I talk about you guys from Meeks Rentals Meeks Leasing
- 3:20Speaker 6: every day on the show. But for those who don't
- 3:22Speaker 6: know basically what is Meets Rentals and Meeks Leasing.
- 3:27Speaker 7: Yeah, thanks for thanks for allowing me to jump on here.
- 3:30Speaker 7: Minds and Leasing. So we're a property manager. We handle
- 3:34Speaker 7: everything from residential to commercial rentals, and we manage property
- 3:40Speaker 7: for a lot of investors and locally and nationally. So
- 3:44Speaker 7: we like to bring the money back here to the
- 3:46Speaker 7: state of West Virginia and help people invest in real estate.
- 3:50Speaker 6: You talk about property management, and this is something that
- 3:54Speaker 6: a lot of people may not understand what that is.
- 3:57Speaker 6: Give us the details on property management exactly it is
- 4:00Speaker 6: that you do.
- 4:01Speaker 7: Yeah, of course, So we like to obviously have the
- 4:05Speaker 7: ability to manage all aspects of the real estate transaction
- 4:10Speaker 7: for an owner. So if an owner goes and invest
- 4:12Speaker 7: in a say a residential house there in Charleston, then
- 4:16Speaker 7: we like to facilitate the prospect of placing a tenant.
- 4:21Speaker 7: There everything from monitor monitoring their applications to negotiating their
- 4:25Speaker 7: lease and everything on behalf of the of the owner
- 4:28Speaker 7: and then managing that entire process all the way through
- 4:31Speaker 7: of the least term for them with communicating with the
- 4:35Speaker 7: tenants and obviously collecting rents and everything along the line.
- 4:39Speaker 6: I mean, I would think that for somebody that wants
- 4:41Speaker 6: to be in the real estate game. And I know
- 4:44Speaker 6: you guys hate the term landlord, but property owner Okay,
- 4:46Speaker 6: I hate property owner. But there's a lot that goes
- 4:49Speaker 6: into that that people may It's not as simple as
- 4:51Speaker 6: just buying a building and saying, Okay, on the third
- 4:54Speaker 6: of the month, I'll go collect the rent or whatever
- 4:56Speaker 6: the case may be. There's a lot more that goes
- 4:57Speaker 6: into that, and that's what that's what you guys do.
- 5:00Speaker 7: Yeah, the scalability of it is obviously the most challenging part.
- 5:04Speaker 7: And you know, the for someone that hasn't maybe been
- 5:08Speaker 7: in the business on a day to day basis, it
- 5:11Speaker 7: is it's challenging. You don't you have to deal with
- 5:14Speaker 7: a lot of questions and sometimes a lot of consequences
- 5:17Speaker 7: that come along with tenants and the communications that go
- 5:20Speaker 7: along with it. But more than anything, you know, with
- 5:23Speaker 7: us having four thousand units under management, now we have
- 5:26Speaker 7: the ability to have a really good grasp of the
- 5:29Speaker 7: market and we're starting to get a lot of traction
- 5:31Speaker 7: to where people are looking to us before even looking
- 5:34Speaker 7: at anywhere else. So ultimately, you know, with our owners
- 5:37Speaker 7: and the people that we manage property for, we're able
- 5:41Speaker 7: to really get a good a good idea of the
- 5:46Speaker 7: people out there that are looking for rentals and keeping
- 5:49Speaker 7: those things on the market less time than anywhere else.
- 5:52Speaker 6: Four thousand units, is that what you said for?
- 5:55Speaker 7: Yeah, we're right at four thousand units under management.
- 5:57Speaker 6: Now that's a lot of units, buddy, it is, for sure.
- 6:00Speaker 6: Give us hold a history of the company.
- 6:03Speaker 7: Yeah, for sure. So I started this company about nine
- 6:06Speaker 7: years ago. Actually before that, I had started in the
- 6:11Speaker 7: business in property management, investing in real estate myself as
- 6:15Speaker 7: an investor. Kind of came from a family business that
- 6:18Speaker 7: liked to be in the real estate business and do
- 6:20Speaker 7: some of development and things along those lines, and I
- 6:23Speaker 7: started building a team to manage property, my own property,
- 6:27Speaker 7: and during that time, we had a lot of people
- 6:30Speaker 7: come to us and say, hey, do you manage for
- 6:32Speaker 7: other people? I turned people away for four or five
- 6:35Speaker 7: years until ultimately the pandemic hit. It made a lot
- 6:38Speaker 7: of sense to really dive deeper into this, So I
- 6:42Speaker 7: started opening this up to consumer what we call our
- 6:45Speaker 7: owners and investors about eight years ago now, and we
- 6:50Speaker 7: started with two hundred units and myself just doing it
- 6:55Speaker 7: kind of on the side, and then it's continued to
- 6:57Speaker 7: grow and I have the best team that I could
- 7:00Speaker 7: ever ask for, and we're really really fortunate to be
- 7:03Speaker 7: able to get a lot of phone calls on a
- 7:05Speaker 7: daily basis.
- 7:06Speaker 6: The day valance showing five any line bront to you.
- 7:08Speaker 6: Impired by a Bridge Value offering custom Taylor Training to
- 7:10Speaker 6: supply a skilled graduates and apprenticeships for your company. Visit
- 7:13Speaker 6: Bridge Valley dot eedu Flora. I want to talk about
- 7:15Speaker 6: the market as it is right now. You know, a
- 7:17Speaker 6: couple of weeks ago, we have our good friend at
- 7:19Speaker 6: Teraroll Ellison, Well, she's actually been on a couple of
- 7:21Speaker 6: times on this show and on the Afternoon show as well,
- 7:23Speaker 6: talking about this whole Advantage Valley thing and this housing survey.
- 7:28Speaker 6: I mean, you know, we kind of knew what this
- 7:31Speaker 6: was going, what the results were going to be. But
- 7:32Speaker 6: the bottom line is in an area, and I'm going
- 7:36Speaker 6: to scale it down a little bit, but in an
- 7:38Speaker 6: area from Charleston on I sixty four to Huntington, we
- 7:42Speaker 6: have a housing shortage. We have got a big time
- 7:46Speaker 6: housing crisis. As a lot of people would say comment.
- 7:49Speaker 7: On that, Yeah, we absolutely do. And the work that
- 7:53Speaker 7: Aryl's doing and Advantage Valley is phenomenal, and all the
- 7:57Speaker 7: information that we're able to gather and be community partners
- 8:00Speaker 7: with that organization, we're super happy to be able to
- 8:03Speaker 7: do first and foremost. But to your point, with the
- 8:06Speaker 7: housing shortage that we have not only in Charlesto, not
- 8:09Speaker 7: only in Hontingket along that corridor, as you mentioned, it
- 8:12Speaker 7: is serious.
- 8:14Speaker 8: You know.
- 8:14Speaker 7: I'll give you some really quick statistics that on the
- 8:18Speaker 7: rental side of the business, So on average of those
- 8:23Speaker 7: four thousand units, we usually see about a five percent
- 8:25Speaker 7: turnover on a monthly basis, So we're getting to see
- 8:27Speaker 7: about twenty to twenty five units open that we need
- 8:30Speaker 7: to fill on a monthly basis. Within those twenty or
- 8:34Speaker 7: twenty five units, we're actually seeing one hundred and seventy
- 8:37Speaker 7: five people, one hundred and seventy five people apply for
- 8:39Speaker 7: those units, so we know the demand is there right
- 8:44Speaker 7: and everyone's needs are different, but ultimately we don't have
- 8:48Speaker 7: the product to be able to put out there. From
- 8:51Speaker 7: a self perspective, most generally on the rental side of
- 8:54Speaker 7: the business, the end goal for everyone is to acquire
- 8:57Speaker 7: a house without it without any question. The information that
- 9:02Speaker 7: we've received back from that study was bar non accurate
- 9:06Speaker 7: and u and one that we hope that we're able
- 9:09Speaker 7: to facilitate, you know, in the near future and try
- 9:12Speaker 7: to combat some of those needs that we have.
- 9:14Speaker 6: And people would say that are listening and said, we'll
- 9:16Speaker 6: just go build more places. It's it's really not quite
- 9:18Speaker 6: that simple.
- 9:20Speaker 7: The scale our our economy of scale is just really hard.
- 9:23Speaker 7: It's very challenging right now. It's extremely difficult to as
- 9:28Speaker 7: a as a home builder. You don't see very many
- 9:31Speaker 7: of those any longer. Those numbers are hard to be
- 9:35Speaker 7: able to make the profit that is needed for the
- 9:39Speaker 7: time that it takes to build those. So, you know,
- 9:41Speaker 7: we we're hoping to look to some of our national
- 9:44Speaker 7: builders to be able to come in here and facilitate
- 9:46Speaker 7: some of that in the near future and put together
- 9:50Speaker 7: a conglomerate to take care of of that housing shortage,
- 9:54Speaker 7: but it's going to definitely take local talent UH in
- 9:58Speaker 7: collaboration with some of the scale of economy as well.
- 10:02Speaker 6: Talking to Thora Banks before we let you go, one
- 10:04Speaker 6: of the things I really admire Thora about you and
- 10:07Speaker 6: your company is as we spend time on this show,
- 10:09Speaker 6: we spent this interview talking about real estate and rental
- 10:12Speaker 6: properties and something. But you guys do so much. How
- 10:16Speaker 6: many different companies do you own?
- 10:20Speaker 7: Cheese, Dave, I don't know. You asked me about Tuesday.
- 10:23Speaker 7: I never I'm not sure. So under the Meeks Company
- 10:28Speaker 7: of Businesses, we have about nine different businesses and that
- 10:31Speaker 7: ranges everything from digital marketing to home automation and security.
- 10:35Speaker 7: We also have an HVAC filter company and a real
- 10:40Speaker 7: estate brokerage, real estate property management development side of that
- 10:43Speaker 7: real estate conglomerate as well. So we're very fortunate. Again,
- 10:48Speaker 7: I speak to the team that I have I am.
- 10:52Speaker 7: I am just a problem solver. That's about the only
- 10:54Speaker 7: thing that I'm good at. So other than that, my
- 10:57Speaker 7: team is very effective in the best in the business.
- 11:00Speaker 6: All Right, Hey, I appreciate you taking time out of
- 11:03Speaker 6: your schedule to be here. And one of the great
- 11:05Speaker 6: things about the Meeks folks too, is that they employ
- 11:08Speaker 6: a lot of people. But you also have some openings.
- 11:11Speaker 6: I'm sure, so, I mean, do you have any job
- 11:14Speaker 6: any any current job opens at this time? Do you
- 11:16Speaker 6: let your managers handle that, because I know everybody's trying
- 11:18Speaker 6: to hire people at this point.
- 11:19Speaker 7: Thor, Yeah, yeah, absolutely, We're always looking for talent. We've
- 11:23Speaker 7: been very fortunate over the last few weeks to fill
- 11:25Speaker 7: a few positions that we did have open But we
- 11:28Speaker 7: do have a few openings for a few different the businesses,
- 11:32Speaker 7: and you can find us on our socials and get
- 11:35Speaker 7: some more information on that, because if I talk details,
- 11:38Speaker 7: I'll probably get in trouble with my management, sir, I
- 11:40Speaker 7: got I'll pass that.
- 11:43Speaker 6: Along, all right, Thor. I appreciate you being here, man,

- 14:43Speaker 6: So last Thursday night, a whole lot of people tuned
- 14:46Speaker 6: into the NFL Draft, which continued over the weekend, which,
- 14:48Speaker 6: by the way, was such a ratings bonanza that the
- 14:52Speaker 6: NFL is now thinking of expanding it into an entire
- 14:56Speaker 6: week a week, but I'd aggress the big story for
- 15:01Speaker 6: a lot of people was Sodora Sanders, not drafted until
- 15:05Speaker 6: the fifth round, expected to go much higher than that.
- 15:09Speaker 6: My good buddy. And you've heard me quote him countless
- 15:11Speaker 6: times on the show. When you hear me say miss

- 15:25Speaker 4: Hey you doing, buddy, Not bad man, not bad at all.
- 15:28Speaker 6: Welcome to our new home here.
- 15:29Speaker 4: It's pretty beautiful.
- 15:31Speaker 6: Yeah, all right, so let's get right to it here.
- 15:35Speaker 6: It's of course always a pleasure to have you, have
- 15:38Speaker 6: you on the show. And I know you're a big
- 15:40Speaker 6: time football fan. Are you still on the Cowboys train
- 15:42Speaker 6: with me?
- 15:44Speaker 4: I kind of gave them. I'm putting them on the
- 15:46Speaker 4: back burner right now. I need to. I need them
- 15:49Speaker 4: to do something that shows that they want to win.
- 15:52Speaker 6: Well until Jerry Jones is and then you got Stephen Jones.
- 15:56Speaker 13: After that, So I don't Davin Jones isn't that bad.
- 16:00Speaker 13: But just to keep Torpedo and the team, I just, oh,
- 16:04Speaker 13: it just broke my heart each year.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Man.
- 16:06Speaker 6: Well we'll get used to that, all right. So some
- 16:08Speaker 6: of us are all most of us we're watching glued
- 16:10Speaker 6: to the TV watch the NFL draft. Really no big
- 16:13Speaker 6: surprise with a couple of the first picks, but then
- 16:16Speaker 6: mister Sanders, some of the great Dion Sanders doesn't get
- 16:19Speaker 6: picked till the fifth round by the Browns on Saturday.
- 16:23Speaker 6: He told me about thirty seven other quarterbacks in that
- 16:25Speaker 6: room right now. I joked with everyone, I think everybody
- 16:28Speaker 6: but Brian Saipinatto Graham are going to be going to
- 16:30Speaker 6: be in that room. Let's tackle it head on. In
- 16:35Speaker 6: your opinion, You've been very vocal about this on social media.
- 16:38Speaker 6: Why did it take so long for him to get drafted.
- 16:41Speaker 13: Is layered There. There are a lot of issues with
- 16:46Speaker 13: why he fell. First of all, I'll say him being
- 16:51Speaker 13: a Sanders was problematic going out the gate.
- 16:55Speaker 4: I think.
- 16:57Speaker 13: Dion misread it, and I think Chador was just only
- 17:04Speaker 13: going by what his father has taught him all these
- 17:07Speaker 13: years that he was good, and he is good, and
- 17:10Speaker 13: he's first and second round good. But then there's an
- 17:14Speaker 13: underlying thing that we all know about the NFL is
- 17:19Speaker 13: I mean, people might not.
- 17:21Speaker 4: Speak on it.
- 17:22Speaker 13: I've watched every show that you could watch. Certain people
- 17:25Speaker 13: talk talked about it, and then certain people talked around it.
- 17:29Speaker 4: But it is.
- 17:31Speaker 13: Still a white owners league, and there's certain ways that
- 17:35Speaker 13: you have to present yourself, and they consistently do this
- 17:40Speaker 13: with black athletes.
- 17:42Speaker 4: If you feel that you.
- 17:44Speaker 13: Are worthy of being in the room, that's offensive, and
- 17:51Speaker 13: of course it's a job interview. At the end of
- 17:53Speaker 13: the day, I was never drafted, but I mean I
- 17:56Speaker 13: was a highly recruited high school athlete.
- 18:01Speaker 4: I have best friends that went to the pros, and
- 18:04Speaker 4: so I know the system. I get it.
- 18:06Speaker 13: But you can't say and be honest with yourself that
- 18:11Speaker 13: that was a football decision. It just was not a
- 18:14Speaker 13: football decision, and on its face, it started to make
- 18:19Speaker 13: sure that even he when he left the third round,
- 18:21Speaker 13: I was comfortable with that, even though I felt he
- 18:24Speaker 13: should have gone to in the first round. After the
- 18:27Speaker 13: third round, it's personal after that, and so that's I
- 18:31Speaker 13: was very vocal about that, even though I do acknowledge
- 18:35Speaker 13: he should have done some things probably differently.
- 18:38Speaker 4: I was comfortable.
- 18:39Speaker 13: I was uncomfortable during the year with a couple of
- 18:42Speaker 13: things that he did and a couple of things his
- 18:45Speaker 13: father said.
- 18:46Speaker 4: But at the end of the day, the draft is.
- 18:49Speaker 13: Supposed to be about football, supposed to be about to
- 18:52Speaker 13: play on the field, and this is a kid who
- 18:55Speaker 13: has displayed exemplary character nothing off the field. He's a
- 19:01Speaker 13: good kid, good student. You can't look at his past
- 19:04Speaker 13: and say, well, he's not good character. And so it
- 19:07Speaker 13: had to be personal. And I think the black and
- 19:11Speaker 13: white element did play a lot of a role in that,
- 19:14Speaker 13: because we can look back in history and we see
- 19:18Speaker 13: other people who were more brass, more confident, or whatever
- 19:25Speaker 13: you want to call it, and that never counted against him,
- 19:28Speaker 13: but because it was him, it was a problem. They
- 19:31Speaker 13: did the same thing to Lamar Jackson. So I mean,
- 19:35Speaker 13: if you take the blinders off, you can see actually
- 19:39Speaker 13: what it is.
- 19:39Speaker 6: But what I mean, I understand what you're saying, and
- 19:42Speaker 6: then I followed you on social media. That's why I
- 19:43Speaker 6: wanted to have you here. I mean, it's the players
- 19:46Speaker 6: in the NFL. It's majority black league as far as
- 19:48Speaker 6: the players go. Now, as you pointed out, not ownership,
- 19:51Speaker 6: not general managers, a lot of head coaches, which that
- 19:53Speaker 6: was unheard of, you know, twenty thirty years ago, almost
- 19:58Speaker 6: I would guess. And I don't have the Marlon I
- 20:00Speaker 6: don't I don't have the stature from me. I'm going
- 20:02Speaker 6: to say probably eighty five percent. It's an African American League.
- 20:05Speaker 6: Probably that's that's about that overall number one draft pick
- 20:10Speaker 6: was black. Right, But you're saying there's more to it than.
- 20:14Speaker 4: This, right, it is. It depends on how you present yourself.
- 20:20Speaker 6: So had he been a little bit in your words,
- 20:22Speaker 6: I mean, you know, I don't want to put words
- 20:24Speaker 6: in your mouth. But had he been a little bit
- 20:26Speaker 6: less Sanders like it, right, he would have possibly have
- 20:31Speaker 6: gone higher.
- 20:32Speaker 13: Right, Boomer's size and I think it was yesterday and
- 20:35Speaker 13: I can't remember the podcast, but he went on a
- 20:38Speaker 13: podcast and said out of his mouth that it was
- 20:43Speaker 13: personal and he Boomer size in himself admitted that he
- 20:49Speaker 13: didn't like how he presented himself.
- 20:52Speaker 4: In the interviews or doing the year.
- 20:55Speaker 6: And almost it that he did that a lot of
- 20:57Speaker 6: people didn't like it, maybe didn't follow.
- 20:58Speaker 13: This said that Really, what Shadur did is he pretty
- 21:04Speaker 13: much said the league, I don't need the league, the
- 21:07Speaker 13: league needs me. Which that that's a little when you
- 21:13Speaker 13: walk in the door and present that as a black man,
- 21:19Speaker 13: that's problematic. Because Johnny Manziel, whom I said in My
- 21:26Speaker 13: life football ponders named him Johnny Football, he was the
- 21:32Speaker 13: most to this date, the most arrogant football player coming
- 21:36Speaker 13: out of college I've ever seen and never had that problem.
- 21:40Speaker 13: He was drafted number one, and he was highly sought
- 21:43Speaker 13: after until some of the off the field and he
- 21:46Speaker 13: had off the field problems in college. Nobody had an
- 21:50Speaker 13: issue with him with his character. Baker Mayfield was He's
- 21:55Speaker 13: number two on the arrogant list. Anytime you hold your
- 21:58Speaker 13: privates on the on the sideline in college and hold
- 22:02Speaker 13: up the middle finger to the crowd consistently, that was
- 22:05Speaker 13: his thing, and nobody bring that up in the interview.
- 22:10Speaker 13: And I had access to a couple of his interviews
- 22:13Speaker 13: because I still have friends that work with professional teams
- 22:18Speaker 13: as far as conditioning is concerned, and they said he
- 22:22Speaker 13: went into the interviews saying, I'm your man while you're
- 22:27Speaker 13: interviewing me, that there's no reason for this.
- 22:30Speaker 4: Just put me on the field. When should dirt does it?
- 22:33Speaker 13: It offends everybody, And so that's problematic to me because again,
- 22:40Speaker 13: he was number one on the stats all year long.
- 22:44Speaker 13: Everybody says he was the number one quarterback in college football.
- 22:48Speaker 4: Then when we get to the draft, now everybody has
- 22:52Speaker 4: a problem.
- 22:54Speaker 6: Let me take care of this. The Dave Allence showing
- 22:56Speaker 6: five a line brought to you apart by your hometown
- 22:58Speaker 6: baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds. Birds playing that Southern
- 23:00Speaker 6: Maryland hobo but this Friday night against the Blue Crabs,
- 23:03Speaker 6: again of Southern Maryland. First Pitch Ballpark, six thirty five tickets,
- 23:07Speaker 6: schedule promotions, more of as a dirty Birds baseball dot com.
- 23:10Speaker 6: Let me give you some of what some of the
- 23:11Speaker 6: experts said about about Sugar Sanders arm strength good but
- 23:15Speaker 6: not great. One source said, he interviewed well with some
- 23:18Speaker 6: teams and not so well with others, and real or
- 23:23Speaker 6: imagined some people said didn't seem to be a very
- 23:28Speaker 6: good team player. And I didn't say that. That's what
- 23:32Speaker 6: That's what they said. And a little too much drama
- 23:36Speaker 6: with the old man. Right, go back and because I
- 23:39Speaker 6: know you and I are about the same age, go
- 23:40Speaker 6: back and remember Deon Sanders when Dion came in the league.
- 23:43Speaker 6: I mean that I think you can rule out any
- 23:46Speaker 6: adoption questions.
- 23:47Speaker 4: That's definitely right.
- 23:49Speaker 6: But I mean there's one hundred percent of that. There's
- 23:52Speaker 6: a lot of people that don't like Deon Sanders' coaching
- 23:55Speaker 6: style at Colorado. Does that is that a racial thing?
- 24:00Speaker 8: In yours?
- 24:01Speaker 4: Solutely?
- 24:02Speaker 13: He turned when you look at Colorado and Colorado even
- 24:07Speaker 13: when Colorado was good, Colorado really wasn't a prime time program.
- 24:15Speaker 13: They've never been a prime time program from the time
- 24:18Speaker 13: we were in high school to now. Even though they've
- 24:21Speaker 13: had I don't know how many Heisman Trophy winners that
- 24:25Speaker 13: maybe they've had one.
- 24:27Speaker 6: They were pretty good, like I want to say ninety
- 24:29Speaker 6: four to ninety five, did not consistently they.
- 24:31Speaker 13: Wanted they're not consistently and even then you still didn't
- 24:34Speaker 13: see them at seven o'clock on Saturday.
- 24:38Speaker 4: And what prime time.
- 24:40Speaker 13: Brought to Colorado, he brought everything that comes with him.
- 24:45Speaker 13: And really, when he was drafted, they didn't like him.
- 24:47Speaker 13: But the draft was a little bit different then. It
- 24:50Speaker 13: was completely on the field things.
- 24:53Speaker 6: There was no social media, no, it was It was
- 24:55Speaker 6: totally different.
- 24:56Speaker 4: And so what should Dure is showing us. He's showing
- 25:01Speaker 4: us what his father taught him.
- 25:03Speaker 13: And you can imagine growing up as a kid watching
- 25:06Speaker 13: videos of your father and admiring your father. All of
- 25:10Speaker 13: us who had good fathers will know we want to
- 25:13Speaker 13: be like our father. The problem with that is and
- 25:19Speaker 13: should let me back up a little bit. Shouldur doesn't
- 25:22Speaker 13: have the cannon for the arm. He can't run, and
- 25:27Speaker 13: that's one thing he did not get from his father.
- 25:29Speaker 13: I don't know, I don't know how that happened. But
- 25:32Speaker 13: he's the slowest Tom Brady. But he has better pocket presence.
- 25:38Speaker 13: If you know football, anything about football, he has better
- 25:41Speaker 13: pocket presence than any other college quarterback because he can
- 25:44Speaker 13: move the pocket if he needs to, he can leave
- 25:47Speaker 13: the pocket. And if you can lead in qbr every
- 25:53Speaker 13: stat that a college football player, college football quarterback has,
- 25:58Speaker 13: with the exception of running touchdown and run for your
- 26:01Speaker 13: life the entire two years and still leading those stats,
- 26:06Speaker 13: you can't tell me it's he doesn't have the talent.
- 26:09Speaker 4: And so it had to be. And again I will
- 26:14Speaker 4: say he could.
- 26:14Speaker 13: Have probably been in those interviews a little different because
- 26:18Speaker 13: I have heard that he tanked a couple of those
- 26:20Speaker 13: interviews because he didn't want to play for those teams
- 26:24Speaker 13: that came from Dion, And so that I don't I don't.
- 26:31Speaker 13: I don't take away the fact that there was some
- 26:33Speaker 13: things that he could have done differently, because I mean,
- 26:37Speaker 13: we all heard Dion say if there was a team
- 26:40Speaker 13: that wanted him that I don't want him to be on,
- 26:42Speaker 13: I'm going to get involved that's problematic.
- 26:44Speaker 6: And he doesn't have an agent.
- 26:46Speaker 4: As far as they didn't hire an agent, Dion is the.
- 26:49Speaker 6: Agent, so to speak, and some other trusted people around him.
- 26:51Speaker 6: What would you say to the argument pastor that people
- 26:55Speaker 6: would say, well, we just don't want the distraction, we
- 26:58Speaker 6: don't want the drama, we don't want the show that
- 27:02Speaker 6: comes with it. What would you say to that.
- 27:04Speaker 13: It's supposed to be business wise? I think business wise
- 27:11Speaker 13: that's a bad decision because when you see NFL football
- 27:19Speaker 13: is based on ratings. If you see the job that
- 27:23Speaker 13: what Dion Sanders brought to Colorado, even when they were losing,
- 27:29Speaker 13: their games were on primetime. Yeah, that some of those
- 27:32Speaker 13: games are hard to watch, and they and they still
- 27:36Speaker 13: put them on primetime. I don't think at all that
- 27:40Speaker 13: Shadur would have would have caused a problem in the
- 27:44Speaker 13: locker room from him being a team player or not
- 27:47Speaker 13: being a team player. If you can watch his tape,
- 27:52Speaker 13: he is a consummate team player. Anybody that gets beat
- 27:56Speaker 13: up like he beat like he got beat up and
- 27:58Speaker 13: still consistently gets back in game and does exactly what
- 28:01Speaker 13: he does, he's got to be a good team player.
- 28:05Speaker 4: And so all of those.
- 28:06Speaker 13: Things were developed as any excuse to keep him outside
- 28:12Speaker 13: of the door. Now the circus that comes with him
- 28:17Speaker 13: that it came again. It came with Johnny Manziel, no problem.
- 28:23Speaker 13: It came with Baker Mayfield, no problem.
- 28:26Speaker 6: I remember Jim McMahon, who I liked Jim McMahon, But
- 28:29Speaker 6: I remember McMahon showing up, and there's a picture of
- 28:32Speaker 6: him walking in with two cases of blood.
- 28:34Speaker 13: Light right, right, right, And I forgot about McMahon. That's
- 28:38Speaker 13: that's a very good example.
- 28:41Speaker 4: But I mean the the You gotta be honest, there's
- 28:46Speaker 4: a difference in between those guys.
- 28:48Speaker 6: Can I read a text here for you? Sure says
- 28:51Speaker 6: I'm sorry, But a lot of athletes of all colors,
- 28:53Speaker 6: races and yes, gender have that snarky, narcissistic attitude, and
- 28:57Speaker 6: because so many people around them, especially parents, constantly tout
- 29:01Speaker 6: how great they are, that does not help them in
- 29:03Speaker 6: life at all. As for owners, just like with any job,
- 29:06Speaker 6: the question should be made to those who aren't owners,
- 29:08Speaker 6: why don't you buy a team? You want to go
- 29:11Speaker 6: for the job, you have to apply for it. Enough
- 29:14Speaker 6: of everything being about race.
- 29:15Speaker 4: I can't disagree with that.
- 29:17Speaker 13: But when race is a factor, race is a factor,
- 29:20Speaker 13: and and that you cannot look at it at face
- 29:24Speaker 13: value and say that it is not a factor, because
- 29:27Speaker 13: I bring up those other names to prove the point
- 29:31Speaker 13: that if it was anyone else, because three quarterbacks went
- 29:36Speaker 13: before Shador that have that never should have went before Shudor.
- 29:41Speaker 13: One of them was black, the quarterback from Alabama, Mirros, Mirros,
- 29:49Speaker 13: I me, you know, I'm an Alabama fan.
- 29:51Speaker 6: Sorry about that. I know, man Georgia fan over here, and.
- 29:56Speaker 4: You know, anybody in it in the s sc SEC,
- 30:01Speaker 4: I'm gonna go for it.
- 30:02Speaker 6: Supposed to be for an Arkansas game man, because where
- 30:05Speaker 6: you're from.
- 30:06Speaker 13: Right, No, they never recruited Arkansas athletes when I was
- 30:10Speaker 13: coming out of house.
- 30:10Speaker 6: Okay, okay, all right, yeah, never, all right.
- 30:12Speaker 14: Go ahead, brows never no he no, no, no, no,
- 30:15Speaker 14: go ahead and get back to the I'm sorry, but
- 30:18Speaker 14: he he was an average quarterback at best, especially in
- 30:25Speaker 14: the passing area.
- 30:27Speaker 13: If you want a quarterback, you got to have a
- 30:29Speaker 13: quarterback with good pocket presence, uh, good timing. Uh.
- 30:34Speaker 4: Mirrors didn't have that. He could run over you. That
- 30:37Speaker 4: that's his endearing quality. That's it.
- 30:41Speaker 13: And so in order for them to lock Sdr out
- 30:44Speaker 13: of the door, they picked every every quarterback that was
- 30:48Speaker 13: statistically under him to prove a point.
- 30:52Speaker 4: And like I said, boomers size.
- 30:54Speaker 6: And said it, well, I thought mel Kiper was going
- 30:56Speaker 6: to have a stroke.
- 30:56Speaker 4: I know idea I did too.
- 30:59Speaker 6: He What was fun monny was that he and one
- 31:01Speaker 6: of the other commentators actually, and I can't remember which one,
- 31:05Speaker 6: it was a man of color, They actually got into
- 31:09Speaker 6: it on the set. One of the other commentators it
- 31:11Speaker 6: was you know in the which which I thought was Okay,
- 31:14Speaker 6: we gotta we gotta leave it here. But where do
- 31:15Speaker 6: you want to leave this discussions?
- 31:18Speaker 8: Uh?
- 31:19Speaker 13: Truthfully that we still have there are still racial elements
- 31:23Speaker 13: to really everything.
- 31:25Speaker 15: Uh.
- 31:25Speaker 13: And I think we can't get over it until we're
- 31:30Speaker 13: we are willing to have those type of conversations.
- 31:34Speaker 4: And to the text.
- 31:35Speaker 13: Uh, I could agree with that because parenting has a
- 31:39Speaker 13: lot to do. You can look at it and literally
- 31:44Speaker 13: even high school football here, parents will say that you
- 31:48Speaker 13: are better, or they'll make sure that they'll make the
- 31:52Speaker 13: child think they're better than they really are.
- 31:54Speaker 7: Uh.
- 31:54Speaker 4: That is problematic.
- 31:55Speaker 13: And like I said at the beginning of the of
- 31:57Speaker 13: the broadcast that I do think Dion made some missteps.
- 32:02Speaker 13: This isn't the draft from the eighties. You have to
- 32:07Speaker 13: think better and think differently. But we have to be
- 32:10Speaker 13: honest that that race is a component. You just can't
- 32:14Speaker 13: give somebody else another reason to use it against you,
- 32:19Speaker 13: And I think he did that with how he went
- 32:22Speaker 13: into some of those interviews.
- 32:24Speaker 6: Pastor Marlon Collins, what's going on with your church, buddy?
- 32:26Speaker 4: I mean we're good. Still got the same problems we
- 32:29Speaker 4: used to have, though.
- 32:30Speaker 6: That's another problem for another time, right. I mean you're
- 32:33Speaker 6: talking about you've been very vocal about that too, about
- 32:35Speaker 6: some issues within the city of Charleston, about about some
- 32:39Speaker 6: of the homeless and has it gotten any better for you?
- 32:41Speaker 6: The vacancy? Okay, well we'll have to save that for
- 32:44Speaker 6: another time. Have you you know yours welcome in this show, man.
- 32:47Speaker 6: I love having you on.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Appreciate.

- 35:36Speaker 6: I actually get to that tomorrow with Cannon Kanata Commission
- 35:38Speaker 6: President Bensulango. Also tomorrow, local business holding a unique contest.
- 35:42Speaker 6: You help name their kid because one of the owners
- 35:44Speaker 6: is pregnant and you can win a prize. True story,
- 35:48Speaker 6: we'll tell you about that was Donnadehart from the West
- 35:50Speaker 6: Virginia Press Initiative is on the show on tomorrow's show
- 35:53Speaker 6: as well. Let me knock out a couple of texts here. Texas,
- 35:56Speaker 6: Shador can't run, doesn't have an above average arm, and
- 35:59Speaker 6: we're wondering why he went so low. Tex says Dave
- 36:03Speaker 6: teams change, and some quite regularly and fast. Don't you
- 36:06Speaker 6: think they may have looked at Sanders and said, wait,
- 36:09Speaker 6: what if he doesn't like the new coach or the
- 36:10Speaker 6: new system and he'll just quit or demand a trade?
- 36:14Speaker 6: According to a Texter final text here, and then we'll
- 36:17Speaker 6: bring mister Pushkin in here.
- 36:19Speaker 5: Uh.
- 36:19Speaker 6: Colorado won the national championship in nineteen ninety. I knew
- 36:22Speaker 6: it was sometime in the in the nineties. Tex says
- 36:24Speaker 6: that they aren't a good program with Dion there talking
- 36:27Speaker 6: about Colorado, speaking of not good programs, bringing Mike Pushkin.
- 36:30Speaker 6: Hey don't buddy, Hey, I would never say that about
- 36:32Speaker 6: your program. I got two programs that suck.
- 36:35Speaker 4: Now, how's that? How's that?
- 36:36Speaker 6: You're gonna be on the eye.
- 36:38Speaker 4: It's about quantity.
- 36:39Speaker 6: Now, let's just keep pushing them, man, pushing them.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Uh.
- 36:43Speaker 6: How you doing, buddy, I'm doing well.
- 36:44Speaker 4: Good to see you. Good morning.
- 36:46Speaker 6: We get me and you and Collins together. We could
- 36:47Speaker 6: talk about football all day. I was out in the
- 36:50Speaker 6: hallway listening and yeah, how much do you put into
- 36:52Speaker 6: what he said? I think that's a large part of it.
- 36:55Speaker 4: I do.
- 36:56Speaker 10: I think if you and he made good points about
- 36:58Speaker 10: Johnny Manziel went fairly high when he was drafted, and
- 37:02Speaker 10: he had all sorts of off the field problems. You
- 37:04Speaker 10: don't hear about any real off the field problems with Sanders, Uh,
- 37:09Speaker 10: you know, other than you know, he's part of the
- 37:11Speaker 10: Sanders family, and you would have a very uh you know.
- 37:15Speaker 4: Vocal father.
- 37:16Speaker 7: Uh.
- 37:16Speaker 10: Possibly in the locker room. I think that that was
- 37:19Speaker 10: a lot to do with it as well. But I
- 37:20Speaker 10: think that, you know, I put a lot of merit
- 37:22Speaker 10: to what Pastor Collins said. I agree with a lot
- 37:25Speaker 10: of what he said.
- 37:26Speaker 6: But Dave Alance showing five Eddieline brought to you part
- 37:27Speaker 6: by Pinnacle Consultants. Pinnacle offering a four phase assessment for
- 37:30Speaker 6: your properties Inspection, sampling and analysis, comprehensive reporting and management planning.
- 37:35Speaker 6: Visit Pinnacle Court dot net. Because what you don't know
- 37:37Speaker 6: can't hurt you. Before we get into why you're here,
- 37:39Speaker 6: to understand, your head down to Beckley. Uh, tonight, I
- 37:42Speaker 6: hang out with a guy whose name you don't hear
- 37:44Speaker 6: a lot these days, former Congressman Nick Joe Rayhall.
- 37:48Speaker 4: That's right.
- 37:49Speaker 10: He is hosting a sort of a town hall and
- 37:51Speaker 10: evening with Congressman ray Hall. And Uh, it would be
- 37:55Speaker 10: really cool to hear from him. You know, he's not
- 37:57Speaker 10: somebody who's really been out in the public a whole lot,
- 38:00Speaker 10: uh since he left office. I think he's going to
- 38:02Speaker 10: have a lot to say, especially here, you know, commemorating
- 38:05Speaker 10: the day one hundred of the trumpet of the second
- 38:09Speaker 10: Trump administration. I think I would imagine that Congressman ray
- 38:13Speaker 10: Hall will have a whole lot to say. I'm interested
- 38:15Speaker 10: in hearing what he has to say. If anybody out
- 38:17Speaker 10: there is interested, and if anyone else is interested, it's
- 38:23Speaker 10: six o'clock tonight at the Beckley Women's Club, Okay, and it's.
- 38:26Speaker 6: Sponsored by the Executive Committee down there.
- 38:29Speaker 10: Yeah, Raleigh County Democrats. I didn't open anybody, right, Yeah, Yeah,
- 38:32Speaker 10: it's an open event.
- 38:32Speaker 4: I like to have a good crowd here.
- 38:34Speaker 12: See.
- 38:34Speaker 6: I remember well, despite that, I remember Ray Hall very
- 38:39Speaker 6: well when I was growing up and I was in
- 38:41Speaker 6: school and whatever, because he just seemed like he was
- 38:43Speaker 6: in that office forever. I can remember him coming to
- 38:46Speaker 6: my grade school and presenting a flag in like nineteen seventy.
- 38:50Speaker 4: He was in office for a very long time.
- 38:52Speaker 10: So I think what he has, what he has to say,
- 38:55Speaker 10: has a lot of value, and I'm interested hearing.
- 38:57Speaker 6: From I think one of the and I mentioned this,
- 38:59Speaker 6: we got to call We'll get to it here momentarily, Murphy.
- 39:01Speaker 6: I remember I said this on the show on the
- 39:04Speaker 6: Metro News midday show not long ago, that Earl Ray
- 39:08Speaker 6: Tomlin was another one that was always into public at
- 39:11Speaker 6: former governor, and of course he was in the legislature
- 39:13Speaker 6: and so on, and so we're both of these guys
- 39:15Speaker 6: when they were done with politics just kind of walked
- 39:17Speaker 6: away I would be very interesting. I've worked to try
- 39:20Speaker 6: to get Earl Ray on the show and I'm still
- 39:22Speaker 6: I'm not giving up on that yet, or former congress
- 39:25Speaker 6: from Ray Hall for that matter, to see what they think.
- 39:27Speaker 6: Because those guys were Democrats when democrats ruled everything, you know,
- 39:31Speaker 6: and now that it's the exact opposite, I ain't going
- 39:34Speaker 6: to make a very interesting conversation in talking to those guys.
- 39:38Speaker 10: Well, I think, especially in light of what we're seeing
- 39:41Speaker 10: right now that doesn't get talked about enough, and that
- 39:44Speaker 10: is the hemorrhaging of jobs in West Virginia, especially that
- 39:49Speaker 10: we're seeing just during the first one hundred days of
- 39:52Speaker 10: the Trump administration. We heard another announcement yesterday through AMERICRPS.
- 39:56Speaker 10: A lot of very worthwhile programs throughout West Virginia are
- 40:00Speaker 10: being cut, programs that do a lot of good to
- 40:03Speaker 10: help folks. And in particular, I'm thinking of one in
- 40:06Speaker 10: southern West Virginia called High Rocks. It's a it's an
- 40:09Speaker 10: excellent program. It is now on the chopping block. Unfortunately,
- 40:12Speaker 10: we're hearing about these jobs up in Morgantown at Niosha
- 40:16Speaker 10: on the chopping block. We've heard a lot of folks
- 40:19Speaker 10: in the energy sector. Coal mining jobs are being lost
- 40:22Speaker 10: because of tariffs.
- 40:24Speaker 6: In the coal industry right now at a little bit.
- 40:26Speaker 10: Yeah, I think there's a lot of there's a lot
- 40:30Speaker 10: of harm being done to West Virginians right now. Is
- 40:32Speaker 10: not being talked a lot, and that's why I really
- 40:34Speaker 10: am interested in hearing what Congressman Rayjoll has to say.
- 40:37Speaker 4: So I'll tell you what. I'll put in a good
- 40:39Speaker 4: word for you and maybe.
- 40:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I love to have him on the show. All right,
- 40:42Speaker 6: let's go to the phones, and our buddy Jim is here.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Jim.
- 40:48Speaker 6: Okay, we lost Jim. Hi, Jim, you can call back,
- 40:50Speaker 6: all right. So, first one hundred days of the Trump administration,
- 40:52Speaker 6: first one hundred days of the Morrissey administration. He had
- 40:56Speaker 6: his first one hundred days announcement last week. He's signing
- 40:58Speaker 6: one of your bills.
- 40:59Speaker 10: I you know, hang it, yes, I don't believe he
- 41:03Speaker 10: signed yet. Is going to Uh yeah, he was told.
- 41:05Speaker 10: I was, you know, minding my own business yesterday as
- 41:09Speaker 10: I always do. And uh, I received a phone call
- 41:11Speaker 10: from a familiar phone line phone number, you know, which
- 41:15Speaker 10: is the Governor's the Governor's office, and so I picked
- 41:19Speaker 10: up a couple of rings in because I realized who
- 41:21Speaker 10: was calling, and it was the governor and his uh
- 41:25Speaker 10: and his chief of staff and to uh, he said, well,
- 41:28Speaker 10: you embrace yourself. Got something shocking, I'll tell you. And
- 41:32Speaker 10: I said that, uh, he's he was signing my bill,
- 41:36Speaker 10: a bill that I got through the session.
- 41:37Speaker 4: On the last day. Well, okay.
- 41:40Speaker 10: The bill says that utilities have to have a communication
- 41:44Speaker 10: plan in place, uh to communicate with their customers, with
- 41:48Speaker 10: the rate payers in case of an outage. Whether it's
- 41:52Speaker 10: a planned outage, they got to let people know ahead
- 41:54Speaker 10: of time.
- 41:54Speaker 7: UH.
- 41:55Speaker 10: If it's uh, you know, an accident, an unplanned outage,
- 41:58Speaker 10: they have to at the very least let people know
- 42:00Speaker 10: what's going on. Yeah, you would think that that would
- 42:03Speaker 10: already be required. But as a lot of us found
- 42:06Speaker 10: out last winter over in the winner of three December
- 42:11Speaker 10: of twenty three, I believe a lot of us found
- 42:13Speaker 10: out over on the West Side, that was not the
- 42:15Speaker 10: case when we were not getting regular updates. And I'm
- 42:19Speaker 10: not going to name the utility, but we weren't getting
- 42:21Speaker 10: regular updates into the gas outage that took place over
- 42:24Speaker 10: on the West Side.
- 42:25Speaker 4: So I introduced the bill last year.
- 42:27Speaker 10: It passed the House last year unanimously. It didn't make
- 42:31Speaker 10: it in the Senate. It was close to the end
- 42:33Speaker 10: of session. Of course, you know the end of session,
- 42:35Speaker 10: tempers start flaring and bills start getting pulled, and that
- 42:37Speaker 10: bill unfortunately didn't make.
- 42:39Speaker 4: It last year.
- 42:40Speaker 10: But it did pass this year, and it passed unanimously.
- 42:43Speaker 10: We had the support of the Public Service Commission, we
- 42:45Speaker 10: had the support of American Electric Power, who already does this,
- 42:49Speaker 10: and so it made its way to the Governor's desk.
- 42:51Speaker 10: And I got a phone call yesterday and he said,
- 42:53Speaker 10: you know, we don't always see eye to eye on everything.
- 42:55Speaker 4: In fact, we rarely do.
- 42:57Speaker 10: But on this particular issue, uh yeah, I don't see
- 43:01Speaker 10: who would be against it. That nobody is against it.
- 43:03Speaker 10: So it's a build that you know, it's a way
- 43:05Speaker 10: we should focus on legislation. It's an issue that it's
- 43:08Speaker 10: affecting our constituents and we and we bring it to
- 43:11Speaker 10: the legislature and make a case for it. And every
- 43:14Speaker 10: now and then a good idea makes it out of
- 43:16Speaker 10: the bad idea factory one, I say one, right.
- 43:18Speaker 4: There were there were a few.

- 46:03Speaker 6: When do you worry about coal mining jobs? Well, worry
- 46:05Speaker 6: about everybody's job.
- 46:06Speaker 10: And that's as a as a democrat, we care about
- 46:10Speaker 10: working people, and it's not just about the coal companies.
- 46:13Speaker 10: We care more about the folks that are going in
- 46:15Speaker 10: and out of those minds, and we'll make sure that
- 46:16Speaker 10: they Most importantly, the most important thing to come out
- 46:20Speaker 10: of a mine is the Cole. It's the coal miner
- 46:22Speaker 10: and that's what we care about, and that's why we
- 46:24Speaker 10: would protect something like Niosh that studies black lung and
- 46:29Speaker 10: know how these tariffs are actually hurting coal mining jobs.
- 46:32Speaker 4: So yeah, we cared deeply about about all jobs.
- 46:36Speaker 6: Not interested in hearing the delegates Democrat talking points, but
- 46:39Speaker 6: like the Ears take on the j E t S
- 46:41Speaker 6: Jets Jets Jets draft.
- 46:43Speaker 10: I'm happy it wasn't a you know, it was a no.
- 46:45Speaker 4: Frill draft for the Jets.
- 46:47Speaker 10: We took an offensive lineman tackle, offensive tackle that we
- 46:51Speaker 10: desperately needed in Membu from from Missouri, I believe. I
- 46:55Speaker 10: think we took a Georgia bulldog in the receiver area
- 47:00Speaker 10: Smith who was very very fast, but is not known
- 47:03Speaker 10: for catching balls that well. But we can that can
- 47:06Speaker 10: You can't. You can't teach speed, but you can't teach
- 47:09Speaker 10: somebody how to catch better. So he's we drafted him.
- 47:12Speaker 10: I think that was third round, second round. I believe
- 47:14Speaker 10: we got Jason Taylor's son, Mason Taylor, who's a tight end,
- 47:18Speaker 10: and of course Jason Taylor toward the end of his
- 47:20Speaker 10: career did play for the Jets.
- 47:22Speaker 6: The Cowboys have three offensive linemen named Tyler. So so
- 47:25Speaker 6: we got that tech says Yep. Pushkin only cares when
- 47:28Speaker 6: it happens to him. I'm not sure what that's in
- 47:30Speaker 6: reference to Texas. Dave, I usually agree.
- 47:32Speaker 10: I deal with that means I'm not losing my job.
- 47:35Speaker 6: I usually agree, says Dave. I usually agree with delicate
- 47:38Speaker 6: Pushkin on most issues. But I challenge his point that
- 47:40Speaker 6: former Congressman Nick ray Hall had value to our state.
- 47:44Speaker 6: If taking that stance, maybe provide some examples of how
- 47:46Speaker 6: life in southern West Virginia improved during his long tenured
- 47:49Speaker 6: time in Washington. Fact is, under his reign, Southern West
- 47:52Speaker 6: Virginia sank further into generational poverty.
- 47:55Speaker 4: I disagree.
- 47:56Speaker 10: I think he had that institutional knowledge there with Congressman
- 47:58Speaker 10: ray Hall and with him and with you know, his
- 48:02Speaker 10: mentor former Senator Bird. Without them, you wouldn't have a
- 48:06Speaker 10: lot of these federal jobs that Donald Trump is now
- 48:09Speaker 10: taking away. And you also wouldn't have the interstate system.
- 48:13Speaker 6: Speaking of which President Trump says, a texture has done
- 48:15Speaker 6: more to upright America than any president in my lifetime.
- 48:19Speaker 6: This is common sense, and everyone knows that, regardless of
- 48:21Speaker 6: what Democrat Mike push concerned.
- 48:23Speaker 4: Well, the polls say differently.
- 48:24Speaker 6: I've talked about the polls yesterday. He's got I mean
- 48:27Speaker 6: President Trump and this is and of course they'll they'll
- 48:30Speaker 6: say it's fake news, but I'm just this is ABC
- 48:32Speaker 6: News Washington posting this post poll episodes said that President
- 48:36Speaker 6: Trump has the lowest approval rating of any president after
- 48:39Speaker 6: one hundred days and eighty years.
- 48:41Speaker 10: And you know who is in second place?
- 48:43Speaker 4: Donald Trump.
- 48:44Speaker 6: He's only seen Donald Trump, is That's what I mean?
- 48:46Speaker 17: Oh?
- 48:47Speaker 10: In second yeah, over one hundred first hundred days.
- 48:50Speaker 6: Yes, okay, all right, you said you had something else
- 48:52Speaker 6: you wanted to bring up.
- 48:53Speaker 4: What is it?
- 48:54Speaker 7: Oh?
- 48:54Speaker 4: This Sunday.
- 48:55Speaker 10: Uh, there's going to be a virtual town hall a
- 48:58Speaker 10: like after the session post Sesson wrap up with the
- 49:02Speaker 10: House Democrats will be joined the course by Senator Garcia.
- 49:05Speaker 10: All four of you, there's there's a few more than that. Sorry,
- 49:08Speaker 10: and and tell you what, after the next election, look
- 49:09Speaker 10: for more because I think there's a lot of people
- 49:11Speaker 10: who are upset with what happened during this legislative session,
- 49:15Speaker 10: which was largely nothing and mostly Republicans said, I know that.
- 49:19Speaker 4: You've had some guests.
- 49:20Speaker 10: I believe you know when you when when Greg Thomas
- 49:23Speaker 10: is saying it's the worst session ever, and I'm saying
- 49:25Speaker 10: it's the worst session ever. In the Manufacturers Association and
- 49:28Speaker 10: the Chamber of Commerce are all in agreement that this
- 49:31Speaker 10: was the worst session ever. Guess what, it was probably
- 49:33Speaker 10: the worst session ever. So yeah, we're going to be
- 49:36Speaker 10: talking about that worst session ever this Sunday. It's on
- 49:38Speaker 10: It's on zoom. You can find the the the the
- 49:41Speaker 10: link to it on the West Virginia Democratic Party website
- 49:45Speaker 10: WV democrats dot com. You can find it on the
- 49:48Speaker 10: House Democrats, you know, social media pages.
- 49:51Speaker 4: But it'll be this Sunday.
- 49:52Speaker 10: I believe at eight o'clock we're going to have a
- 49:55Speaker 10: post session wrap up.
- 49:57Speaker 6: So you say that there's gonna be more Democrats elected
- 50:00Speaker 6: next year, what's the plan? State Democratic Party Chair, what's
- 50:03Speaker 6: the plan?
- 50:04Speaker 10: Well, we're going to recruit, recruit, recruit, get folks on
- 50:07Speaker 10: the ballot.
- 50:07Speaker 6: It's not just Yeah, that's the first thing, but it's
- 50:09Speaker 6: not the only thing, because you've got to change a
- 50:11Speaker 6: lot of minds out there.
- 50:12Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 50:12Speaker 10: Well, I think our best messengers are our candidates, But
- 50:15Speaker 10: the first step is getting the great candidates in place.
- 50:19Speaker 10: And uh, I think we've done this year.
- 50:21Speaker 4: More than any other.
- 50:22Speaker 10: I think the Democrats who are in office did an
- 50:25Speaker 10: excellent job of communicating. And you saw more videos, more posts,
- 50:31Speaker 10: uh uh, you know, more interviews, uh, getting out there
- 50:35Speaker 10: into the uh, into the you know, on people's phones,
- 50:39Speaker 10: on people's computers, on people on people's television sets. We
- 50:43Speaker 10: have been getting the message out and a lot of
- 50:45Speaker 10: times on the other side, they're not allowed to do interviews.
- 50:49Speaker 6: Well, and I think that you got to run on
- 50:50Speaker 6: more than and this is a national Democrat thing. I
- 50:53Speaker 6: think you've got to run on more than just we're
- 50:55Speaker 6: not Donald Trump. And I think you know, you New
- 50:57Speaker 6: York especially here, you know.
- 50:59Speaker 10: Gen you know, we're going to run on a kitchen
- 51:00Speaker 10: table issues. And unfortunately we're not seeing a lot of
- 51:03Speaker 10: that from the Republican super majority right now. They're not
- 51:06Speaker 10: talking about things like fixing PIA, they haven't done that.
- 51:09Speaker 10: They're not talking about any way to bring in more revenue.
- 51:15Speaker 10: They're not talking about creating jobs. They're talking about bathrooms,
- 51:20Speaker 10: locker rooms, examination rooms. They're not talking about classrooms. They're
- 51:25Speaker 10: not talking about putting teachers in the classrooms. They had
- 51:27Speaker 10: largely talked about things that don't really affect our day
- 51:30Speaker 10: to day lives, and I think most people are starting
- 51:32Speaker 10: to realize.
- 51:33Speaker 6: That we got to wrap it up.
