- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Episode 43, can you believe it? Lucas: I know, time flies. And today, we're going to a restaurant. Luna: Oh, I love eating out! What phrases do we need? Lucas: First, when you walk in, you need to ask for a table. Say: Una mesa para dos, por favor. Luna: Una mesa para dos, por favor. That means 'A table for two, please'? Lucas: Exactly! You can change the number. For one person: Una mesa para uno, por favor. Luna: Una mesa para uno, por favor. Got it. Lucas: Now, once you sit down, you'll want the menu. Ask: ¿Me puede traer el menú? Luna: ¿Me puede traer el menú? That's 'Can you bring me the menu?' Lucas: Yes. 'Me' is 'me', 'puede' is 'can you', 'traer' is 'bring', 'el menú' is 'the menu'. Luna: ¿Me puede traer el menú? Okay, I think I've got it. Lucas: Great. Now, when you're ready to order, you can say: Quiero... followed by what you want. Luna: Quiero... like 'I want'? Lucas: Exactly. For example: Quiero una ensalada. Or Quiero pollo. Whatever you like. Luna: Quiero una ensalada. I want a salad. Simple enough. Lucas: And at the end of the meal, you ask for the bill: La cuenta, por favor. Luna: La cuenta, por favor. The check, please. Lucas: Perfect. Let's practice a little scene. Imagine we're at a restaurant. Luna: Okay, I'll be the customer. Lucas: Buenas noches. ¿Una mesa para dos? Luna: Sí, una mesa para dos, por favor. Lucas: Excellent. Now you're seated. Luna: ¿Me puede traer el menú? Lucas: Claro, aquí tiene. And then you order. Luna: Quiero una ensalada y pollo, por favor. Lucas: Muy bien. Then after eating... Luna: La cuenta, por favor. Lucas: Perfecto! You just had a whole restaurant interaction in Spanish. Luna: That was fun! Let me try the phrases again. Una mesa para dos, por favor. Lucas: Good. ¿Me puede traer el menú? Luna: ¿Me puede traer el menú? Lucas: And Quiero...? Luna: Quiero una ensalada. Lucas: And finally? Luna: La cuenta, por favor. Lucas: You nailed it. Now, a quick tip: if you want to say 'for two people', you can also say 'para dos personas'. Luna: Para dos personas. That's good to know. Lucas: And remember, you can use 'Quiero' for anything: Quiero agua, Quiero café, Quiero un postre. Luna: Quiero un postre. I want dessert. Yes, please. Lucas: Let's do one more run-through of the whole conversation, but this time I'll be the waiter and you're the customer. Luna: Sounds good. Lucas: Buenas noches, ¿cuántas personas? Luna: Una mesa para dos, por favor. Lucas: Por aquí, por favor. Aquí tiene el menú. Luna: Gracias. ¿Me puede traer el menú? Oh wait, you already gave it to me. Lucas: That's okay! So then you order. Luna: Quiero una ensalada y pollo, por favor. Lucas: Muy bien. ¿Algo más? Luna: No, gracias. La cuenta, por favor. Lucas: Perfecto. You did it. That's all for today's episode. Luna: Practice these phrases and you'll be ready for your next Spanish dinner out! Lucas: Thanks for joining us on Learn Spanish with Fexingo. See you next time! Luna: ¡Hasta luego!
