- 2:45And now this, Uh, I want to try to get into the
- 2:47story in Putnham County last night. It's kind of a a lot of controversy
- 2:52coming out of Putnham County Commission meeting last night, and I'm gonna get to
- 2:54that a little bit later on. Plictuer of calls and texts are welcomed,
- 2:58but at this time I want to welcome into the show former SECO presidential candidate
- 3:01Canada for other offices from time to time and as his website to find some
- 3:05American competitionist, Don Blanketship. Good morning, sir, how are you.
- 3:10Good morning, I'm doing fun. Thank you for being here. And you
- 3:14know, Don, I've been following you on Twitter for some time. And
- 3:15by the way, if you're not following Don Blanketship on Twitter, well you
- 3:19should be. You have a series of TV ads and online ads going where
- 3:23you have said, in your view that not everyone has equal rights under the
- 3:28law, particularly public figures. And you reference the famed New York Times versus
- 3:32Sullivan law, which it affects as a public figure. As a public figure,
- 3:37you are limited and when it comes to defamation lawsuits, and it basically
- 3:43says that the press in this case, a newspaper in this particular case,
- 3:46can't be held liable for making false and or defamatory comments about official conducts with
- 3:53public officials unless the statements were made with actual malice. You feel that should
- 3:58be overturned, sir, And you've got to experience in this tell us why,
- 4:01Well, first of all, it violates three of the Amendments to the
- 4:04Constitution, the First Amendment of free speech, the seventh Amendment of getting a
- 4:09trial by jerry because the judge is always throw them out, and the Fourteenth
- 4:13Amendment, which guarantees all of us equal rights. So it's just constitutionally wrong.
- 4:17But the way they use it is to keep non establishment candidates from having
- 4:21any chance of winning. So we don't have term limits and we don't have
- 4:26the opportunity for non establishment if you're not blessed by the Republican or Democratic Party
- 4:31to win a seat in the Senate or else. And don you have a
- 4:34real issue with Fox News going back to twenty eighteen, what's your issue with
- 4:40them? Well, basically they've acted on behalf of Mitch McConnell to the Family
- 4:46Rats the day before the day of the election in twenty eighteen, misconvinced Donald
- 4:54Trump and others to do whatever they could to beat me, and that culminated
- 4:59and calling me an felon repeatedly. I think the entire media complex called me
- 5:02a convicted felon about one hundred and seven times in the last ten days before
- 5:08the election. And it's worth noting again, you are not a convicted felon.
- 5:12No, and I didn't, as Fox said, go to a prison
- 5:15for manslaughter either, and they What was worse about it is when Napolitano was
- 5:19the first one to say that I called he and Chris Starwalden told him I
- 5:24would bring stut if they didn't correct it, and they actually tried to correct
- 5:28it multiple times, but Fox wouldn't give him are time to correct it and
- 5:31instead continued to not only call me a convicted felon, but a more on
- 5:36the idiot and a number of other things. Why do you why do you
- 5:40think that is well? I mean, why do you think that Fox News
- 5:43had it in for you? Well, one of the reasons I think.
- 5:46I don't think that Fox News had it in for me. I think that
- 5:48McConnell had it call me. And there was a couple of reasons, you
- 5:51know. Number one, I had called him out on the facts he had
- 5:55bought ten forty seven million dollars championships to transport coal and or out of China
- 6:00and Columbia and competition against American cole and he had been for climate change in
- 6:04America even though China was a sealed two Emissions just continue to skyrocket, and
- 6:11he just basically hasn't done his job for appelation. I mean, he even
- 6:15established a scholarship at Harvard for Chinese Americans, but he hasn't done anything for
- 6:21appelation Americans. Talking with Don Blanketship, and you know, all these ads
- 6:27that I'm talking about, by the way, can be seen on your website,
- 6:29Don Blanketship dot com. I'm going to ask you something to bear with
- 6:32me for a minute here, Don, Why why are you still out there
- 6:35fighting? Why are fights like this so important to you? Well, I
- 6:40think I have five green kids, and I see that the country has fallen
- 6:44apart. You know, the establishment doesn't understand that the region January sixth happened
- 6:47in The reason Trump continues to get votes an increasing number of votes despite being
- 6:54indicted and so forth and so on, is that the establishment is on trial
- 6:59by the American people, and anyone that will come out and try to fight
- 7:03has a chance to make a difference. And of course I'm trying to make
- 7:06a difference, and I think I have. I think I made a big
- 7:09difference in West Virginia's one of the reasons it has become more attractive to business
- 7:15and fixed its budget problems. And funded its teachers, pension funds and all
- 7:18that kind of stuff. But we need to do that for the United States
- 7:21very badly. What does the future look like for don blanket Ship any thoughts
- 7:27of getting involved in a battle for an office or either as a candidate or
- 7:30getting behind someone for next year? What's the future look like for you?
- 7:34Teasingly said, I guess when they asked me that before that, once we
- 7:40established the rules, or whether you can call all your opponents pedophiles and convicted
- 7:44felons and guys it went to prison for manislaughter, I may decide to run
- 7:47just to establishe for American people that that's part of the game. It's really
- 7:53incredible that the American people are so disinformed about the candidates, not normally to
- 7:59the stream that I was, but certainly to an extreme that that prevents anybody
- 8:05from winning other than whicheveryone is the Republican or Democratic Party want to win.
- 8:09The Supreme Court messed it up pretty bad when they allowed the corporations to contribute
- 8:15unlimited amounts some money to the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Committee
- 8:20because they they'll control a bellion dollars there in these elections and they basically they
- 8:26do the same thing to do in Russia. They picked who their colleagues will
- 8:28be in the Senate. And you know, I've said that on people that
- 8:33listened the Show down have heard me say this on this show about local races
- 8:37as well. We're getting to the point now that a local guy, gal
- 8:43whatever can't get elected just an average person. And I think that flies in
- 8:48the face of what America was designed to be, and that is a you
- 8:50know, citizen government governorship. Would you agree with that, Yeah, And
- 8:54it's it's just totally out of hand. You know, we all knew that
- 8:58politicians lie, be liars become the government officials, but we sort of forget
- 9:03that. We know politicians live, but we seem to forget as the same
- 9:05people that now run the government, and it's basically run very close to being
- 9:09a mafia. They give money to whoever will give money to them, and
- 9:15they control everything. And they basically have moved to America's prosperity to China and
- 9:20now they're getting ready to move it to India and Africa. So, you
- 9:24know, the Americans are just treated as a you know, as a sad
- 9:28show or something where they act like they're arguing among themselves and yet what they're
- 9:33doing is they're rape in America. I compare it to professional wrestling, where
- 9:37you got a good guy and a bad guy and they're always fighting each other,
- 9:41but they're taking your money and entertaining you, and then they're all hanging
- 9:45out in the back of what you're saying, it's a nine seventeen. Don
- 9:48Blanketship is here before we let you go, Don, what is it that
- 9:50you would like the people to know about Don blankets Ship. What is the
- 9:54biggest misconception about you, Other than the fact that many say you were convicted
- 9:58felon you are not. As we talked about earlier. It's the biggest misconception
- 10:01in most people's eyes about Don Blanketship. I think that they probably think I'm
- 10:07part of the establishment, that I ran a company for the benefit of profits,
- 10:11since they were told that for so many times. But Massey was the
- 10:15most uh, you know, innovative safety company in the never end of coal
- 10:18business. That we never failed to play a bill and never left unreclaimed property,
- 10:24and we ran it right. And the reason is that Don Blanketship grew
- 10:28up putting gasoline and coal miners cars and in the coal field leagues and knew
- 10:33the coal miners on a first name basis. And the idea that people in
- 10:37Washington or New York cared more about West Virginia coal miners than I do as
- 10:41preposterous. Don Blanketship dot com is a website or you can follow down on
- 10:46Twitter, And as I said, I would definitely urge you if you want
- 10:50some some as well. I don't want to see entertainment, but it is
- 10:52entertaining. But but there's some scary things on there too, Don, And
- 10:56I was doing some research last night about about in many ways you and I
- 11:00agree on a lot about about what this about what the government has done and
- 11:03what this country is becoming. Yeah, what's the government did with New York
- 11:07Times versus Slovan As They created a situation where the government can ask the press
- 11:13to be sure somebody can't win, and the press can easily accommodate that.
- 11:16Like one quick thing right now is they won't even run my paid ads.
- 11:20If I offer hundreds of thousands of dollars or run those ads you see on
- 11:24my website, they won't run them. Under the guideline that they have that
- 11:28they won't run any ad that that disparages them. So even though the truth
- 11:33disparages them and they have to use lives to disparage me, they won't run
- 11:37the ads even if I pay them for them. Well, and I mean
- 11:41that that in and of itself right there. I'm not a broadcast and I've
- 11:46been doing this for thirty five years, but I'm not a broadcast law professional
- 11:50here, But I think that's uh a little wacky. Uh. I mean,
- 11:54we're always out to take money in this business. I thought, well,
- 11:56it's crazy. You know. The when New York Times Versus Solve was
- 12:00past, New York Times was sort of on the rops financially and one of
- 12:03the excuses for not allowing them to be sued and people to win large amounts
- 12:07of money with them as they couldn't afford it and they didn't want to do
- 12:09without a press. But today your American press is really not American. It's
- 12:13comcasted owns NBC and Fox News and either AT and T that owns CNN at
- 12:20different times. And they have very vested interests in China. They have them
- 12:24parks, they have newscasts, they have other investments in those countries. So
- 12:28if they wanted to criticize what's going on to bed or what China's doing with
- 12:33slave labor or whatever. China just tells them to shut up. So you
- 12:37really don't have an American press, but they're given the benefit of being the
- 12:39American press. Well, we have a local press. I mean that's we
- 12:43can't do. You think about the Nashville We'll try to We'll try to do
- 12:45what we can here locally. Hey, Don, I appreciate it's always a
- 12:48pleasure taught to you. We talk again, sir, thanks a lot,
- 12:50Thanks for having me on having a good thing you as well. Don,
- 12:52blanket Ship. It is nine twenty and of course the text are coming in
- 12:56here. I will knock out a couple of before we move on. By
- 13:00the way, they want to let you know five any Life is presented in

- 13:39I'm gonna have to ask you Texture to elaborate on that, because I don't
- 13:41know exactly what you mean by that, what part that you agreed to Listen,
- 13:45I know anytime that you talk about having somebody like Don Blanketship on the
- 13:50air. At the minute that I said it yesterday, I started getting texts
- 13:52from people, you know, why would you give this guy an opportunity to
- 13:56speak? Well, because I'm a big free speech guy, That's exactly why.
- 14:00And I think everybody deserves to have a voice. And again, as
- 14:03I've said on the show in the past, I'll say this and then we'll
- 14:05move on. I guess being from southern West Virginia, I saw a different
- 14:09side of Don blanket Chip and were their mistakes made a long way? Absolutely
- 14:15one percent. Those have been well documented. But I just saw a different
- 14:18Don. And I've known him for a long long time and I consider him
- 14:22to be a friend and as far as me putting him on the air.
- 14:26All all types are welcome here, you know, on this show I have
- 14:31and I get the same thing when I have a Mike Pushkin on the air.
- 14:33But he was like, why would you put this guy? Well,
- 14:33because he's a delegate, and because he's a state Democratic Party chair, why
- 14:37do you put Tony Hodge or Greg Thomas or any of these other people that

- 18:27fantastic in you, Thank you for being here, thank you for following
- 18:30Don blanket Chip too. It's exciting. I mean it's exciting. We're heading
- 18:33into a fantastic holiday weekend and the festival is just such a I mean it's
- 18:41a big deal, right, It is a big deal. It is a
- 18:44big deal. I said the other day. It's this festival is as big
- 18:48as any city's festival all around us, whether you go northwest. Two hundred
- 18:53thousand people's coming to town and a lot of million people and a lot of
- 18:57people having fun. And you know, for our part, you know,
- 19:02I get to play in it, and uh booking the talent and you know
- 19:07that's just that's exciting too, right, being able to kind of see what
- 19:11we think works and try and hit all the all the targets. And I
- 19:15mean, we got a great lineup, and I want to go over that
- 19:18lineup we're gonna talk about. I mean, and not only the quote unquote
- 19:22national acts, but a lot of the opening acts for these people too.
- 19:25Or is a good friend of mine that was in a house band used to
- 19:26say, whenever we would have a big concert, he would always say,
- 19:30if it was like we had, let's say, I'll use a like Aaron
- 19:33Tipping for We brought Aaron Tipping into a concert one time and somebody said he
- 19:36would always say, I'd like to thank Aaron Tipping for closing for me.
- 19:38So that's what these people would say. I'd like to thank flow Rider for
- 19:41closing for me tonight. But let's talk about better than Azrah, major hit
- 19:47maker, probably best known for those songs good in nineteen ninety five. They're
- 19:51based out of New Orleans. A little something for the kids of the nineties
- 19:53there, right, Yeah, I mean, look, they were They were
- 19:56listed as one of the hundred greatest old Ternative Artists of all time and so
- 20:02many of these artists that were big back when. Whether you're talking about better
- 20:06than Ezra, I think more people know more of the cool and the Gang
- 20:08songs from back when. But you just start hearing their songs and you go,
- 20:12oh, yeah, that's yeah too, Yeah, that's them too.
- 20:15Right. So like I did this with Sticks, which we have coming at
- 20:19the auditorium later in the year, and you just start ticking off and you
- 20:25go, you know, show after song after song after song. So but
- 20:27better than Azra, fun band, great band. The Crunch Band is gonna
- 20:33um let better than Ezra. Clothes for that are to use that, by
- 20:37the way, you'll use that. That's really good and the and the guys
- 20:40from the Crunch Band will we'll do that too. But they are a great
- 20:41They are at an Ohio University from back in the day, a bunch of
- 20:45guys that went to OU. One of them is local still and they play
- 20:52probably eighty shows a year or something like that, uh Dino told me.
- 20:57And so that's a great gonna play a whole mix of that whole eighties nineties
- 21:03is kind of get the crowd going, so it'll be fun. And that's
- 21:06a nice thing about the whole program. Is you can get there early,
- 21:10you can kind of get set up. You know you're gonna see Red Line
- 21:14before Flow Rider plays, right, And that's fantastic, right, They're they're
- 21:18just a fun band, right local And Santa Cruz is going to play before
- 21:25Cool in the Gang And you know, listen, Cool in the Gang is
- 21:27just so iconic and it's just a party, right, well, it is,
- 21:32it's just a party. And I want to talk Let's go back to
- 21:33We'll get to Cool in a Gang in men because I GOTLAMI. But let's
- 21:36talk about flow Riding. I mean, I mean, he is, this
- 21:40guy is entertaining. He's an entertainer. I've had the pleasure of being able
- 21:45to promote his show in a couple of different festivals over the last several years.
- 21:51And the guy, he's got a ton of hits. You know,
- 21:56he is such a nice guy. I mean, I've heard that crazy noise
- 22:02um and the guys that work with them, that come with him, it's
- 22:04all, it's so professional, it's so nice. He'll roll in, he
- 22:08will do he'll do ninety minutes if you'll let him. Right, He's one
- 22:14of those guys where you like he's having a good time we gotta finish up.
- 22:18We gotta get the fireworks here, ye on. But he's a it'll
- 22:22be a good show. I mean his again another guy that you don't realize
- 22:26Oh I know that song. Uh. And then let's transition to the next
- 22:30night. And what as you kind of referencing And we're talking with Patrick Lay
- 22:33of the Charleston Collinson mcconvention Center, who is helping with the with the booking
- 22:37of the acts for the regatta this year. What more can you say about
- 22:41cooling the Gang? I mean they first appeared in the early nineteen seventies and
- 22:45and man, all those hits, Jungle Boogie, Ladies, Night Fresh,
- 22:48Too Hot, Joanna, The Misled, and of course a big one celebration.
- 22:56Yeah yeah, thirty one gold and platinum albums. That's incredible, that's
- 23:02a that's a that's one of those things where you think about bands that have
- 23:04continued to continue on and you know, the horn section, the just the
- 23:11sound. You know. We have a bigger stage this year, which they've
- 23:14started came in last night, we started building it today. So the stage
- 23:18is a little bigger, video on both sides of the stage this year,
- 23:22so the presentations even bigger. Which you know, when you get a band
- 23:26like Cooling the Gang on there with everybody on stage and as long as everybody's
- 23:30got their dancing shoes on, because you know that's a show. You just
- 23:33you just know what. You can't sit, right, You can't sit during
- 23:36Cooling the Gangs. No, No, not at all. I remember when
- 23:38the song's Celebration came out because I'm old and I remember when that single came
- 23:42out. I was in probably elementary school, and I remember going down to
- 23:45buying that single and remembering and thinking in my five year old musical promoter mind
- 23:52in the future radio guy, thinking, man, this song is going to
- 23:56be played forever, and it is I mean celebration is I mean sporting events
- 24:00to New Year's to whatever. It's one of those iconic songs, and so
- 24:03many other songs are that way that are going to be played. Ladies Night's
- 24:07gonna be played somewhere two hundred years from now. Yeah, and how many
- 24:10of their songs are played at wedding or exactly. I mean it's the Teller.
- 24:15It's incredible. And then we move on to Jody Messina. Yeah,
- 24:18Jody Messina is out on tour, so we were able to fit the show
- 24:22in in their touring route they're playing. She's got a full on tour.
- 24:26She's got a little resurgence on her heads Carolina with Cole Swindell who did it
- 24:30sort of a remake rendition of it, and he performed that the other night
- 24:34when he was here with Thomas Raett at the Colosseum. And you know,
- 24:38so she's got a bunch of hits too. I mean that Burn album was
- 24:42just phenomenal, right, so Grammy Awards and I think, you know,
- 24:48forty songs sold over five million albums worldwide, right, so again it's just
- 24:53another one of those classic hit making artists. And you know, again they're
- 25:00coming through on tour, so she's she's gonna be in greatful absolutely. Twenty

- 25:30out of Logan County. I don't think that's true at all. I'm not
- 25:32not even I'm not even in the top fifty. Uh. But Kate is
- 25:36doing some incredible things. She's gonna be on the show Friday. By the
- 25:38way, she's my co host. I do a different co host every Friday.
- 25:41And she's awesome. Yeah, we saw her her debut video that she's
- 25:45shot here, yes, Charles, Yeah, so what a fantastic ambassador for
- 25:51the city. Yeah right, So Charles has kind of adopted her now and
- 25:53that video, by the way, is going to make its world premiere on
- 25:56CMT on Friday. Yeah. How excited, I'm I mean, And that
- 26:00video was shot right here in Charles from West Virginia, the whole thing,
- 26:03and it's a it's a great video. She's got a great voice, a
- 26:07really good sound. So again, excited to have a really large audience catch
- 26:14her show. And she's played in the marketing and she did live on the
- 26:17Levy a couple of years ago. So the opportunity for a much broader audience
- 26:22to get exposure to our hometown gal As will sort of look at her.
- 26:26Yeah. I think it's exciting, and so, you know, it's the
- 26:32lineup just is I think there's something for everybody, and that was sort of
- 26:34the goal. Yeah, and that's what I want to end on this by
- 26:37saying that, and I've said this on the show, Patrick, I applaud
- 26:42yourself and the Rogatta organizers for providing such a wide range of music. I
- 26:47mean, you kind of set the president with that last year, you know,
- 26:49with the acts that you had last year by having, you know,
- 26:52something for everyone, and we don't want to forget that. We're gonna have
- 26:56a little symphony music to end it all too. Yeah, day, so
- 27:00I think it's the brass band that version of the symphony playing. And again,
- 27:06fourth of July, you got to have that on the fourth, you
- 27:07have to. And again, how exciting is it that the fourth is on
- 27:11a Tuesday, which allows us to run all the way through Monday, which
- 27:15really worked well for us in terms of you know, Joe D's routing.
- 27:19Yeah, so it's just gonna be a great weekend. It is. It
- 27:22isn't eat and complete schedules of everything going on with we kind of focused on
- 27:26the entertainment segment today. But that's just part of it. You got the
- 27:29carnivals, you got the Winter Dog Race, you got all the food,
- 27:32you know, the Magic Island for the kids, the wrestling event. I
- 27:37mean, there's so many different things going on, and schedules are available pretty
- 27:41much. They're not hard to find. Google it, go to the regt
- 27:42A website, go to the social media, they're they're all there. Patrick.
- 27:45I appreciate you being here today. Man, thanks all, appreciate you

- 30:42How Patty wouldn't move the needle? Little unfair there about the Regatta. What
- 30:47are the chances of getting some older acts here, some fifties and sixties.
- 30:49You buck the vogues, Peter Noon, the Van Dels do just to boomers
- 30:53will listen to them. But I turned fifty and I love them. Well,
- 30:56here's the thing about it. What I've learned about the Regatta. Folks
- 30:59they listen and if people in there, I mean this again, this is
- 31:02only the second year back. So I know they're listening. Know they're listening
- 31:06right now. I especially know they're listening right now at city Hall. Uh
- 31:08So, if you you got a recommendation, you have been informed city hall
- 31:14and organizers that some people like some older music. So not to be confused
- 31:18of being old. Actually, Switzer, hey, I said, not to
- 31:22be confused. I appreciate that I did turn fifty four this year or so.
- 31:25Wow, it's a big year. Yeah, only two years old.
- 31:27I am older than you, yes, okay, shoot, not by much.
- 31:33All right, So what do we owe this visit today? Well,
- 31:37um, as you know, I have a podcast that since right, I
- 31:41actually sit in your chair. I've seen pictures every Tuesday. It's better when
- 31:45you said it than I do. I'll say that every Tuesday or Wednesday evening.
- 31:48We record here in the studio and this, uh, the podcast is
- 31:52Scoop Squad True Squad. We are we've been in business now what over a
- 31:56year, run close to sixty episode right, Okay, well hold on,
- 32:02hold on, I'm talking to her, and and we uh, the Scoop
- 32:07Squad Truth Squad is a we're hyper focused on local city politics, county politics.
- 32:13Um. We're different from you, and that of course we're not wive
- 32:16um, and we're not regulated by FCC um and you know, I mean
- 32:22yeah exactly, but we can have and we can edit to if we need
- 32:27to. But um, we're able to sit with our guests for forty five
- 32:30minutes and really dig into issues. Okay, yeah, all right, And
- 32:36the reason that I'm here yeah, is a couple A few weeks ago,
- 32:38we had Lance Wheeler on He's County Commissioner UM with jb Acres and Adam Noffen,
- 32:43myself and Ron and we were talking about the sports complex that was announced
- 32:47back um in November, well October maybe right before the election, right,
- 32:52I think that's when it was. Yeah, and uh so we hadn't heard
- 32:55much about that sports complex since then, UM, and so we asked Commissioner
- 33:00Wheeler a few questions about it. JB asked him about the organizational structure and
- 33:07the finances between the city and the county and asked if he had take if
- 33:12they had talked about that before the announcement was made, and he said no,
- 33:16And so that just kind of And then a few weeks later after that
- 33:21podcast, in that discussion, we all of a sudden come out with an
- 33:23announcement that there has been a committee formed, the joint Committee between the city
- 33:29and the county, and so the timing was kind of curious. And then
- 33:32all of a sudden, the sports complex and the committee is on the agenda
- 33:37for City Council meeting and for commission meeting, which we also found very curious.
- 33:45So we attended those two meetings and we found out a lot of good
- 33:50information, some contradictory information. In fact, one of the council people who
- 33:55voted for this committee because it was brought before council to be voted on whether
- 34:00this committee could be formed UM made up of these appointees. She tuned in
- 34:06to our scoop squad live at the commission meeting the next day and her jaw
- 34:12dropped. She felt very misled, and so we had to she what she
- 34:21heard from Commissioner Selano was not what she was told at City Council, and
- 34:27so she felt like she voted for She didn't realize what she was voting for
- 34:32because it wasn't explicitly laid out until she heard Commissioner Selengo the next day at
- 34:37the commission meeting. So we had her on. She was one that voted
- 34:44for the committee, and then we had the only dissenting vote. Shannon Snodgrass
- 34:47on with us last night, and I think people are going to be really
- 34:52surprised at this interview. What is the may I mean, if somebody was
- 34:57against it, I've talked about it on the show. Um, why why
- 35:00would you be against them? Because I mean, to me, I mean,
- 35:02on the surface and I don't know all the details, it seems like
- 35:06a no brainer that it's as everybody nobody is. Nobody is arguing that is
- 35:10a fantastic Okay, my daughter swims. The issue is is it fiscally responsible?
- 35:16Okay, that's the issue, especially with the debt. That's another thing
- 35:21that came out at the commission meeting that many council people did not realize the
- 35:27City council, can you make sure it's microphone's on, please right? Okay?
- 35:30At City Council um, an issue came up. She and Snodgrass raised
- 35:34the issue of the seven hundred and sixty million dollar depth that the city has,
- 35:38and many council people did not know that the city had that much debt.
- 35:44She also brought up the fact that a feasibility they are eighteen months into
- 35:47a feasibility's study with a standalone police station, and now all of a sudden,
- 35:53we're going to form a committee to investigate building an eighty million dollar structure
- 36:00when we don't even have a stand alone police station that is in decrepit uh
- 36:04conditions. There have been I know, and when I've had Commissioner Selango and
- 36:07Wheeler and Commissioner Carper on the on the show before. It's been talked about
- 36:13about UM and what I gathered from them, and I don't want to put
- 36:15the words in their mouth, but kind of a it possibly could be named
- 36:17like a corporate sponsorship at some point. I mean, I've heard that being
- 36:22thrown out there. Well, you've heard a lot of things being thrown right
- 36:24right. I mean that's is that something that you would support if if that
- 36:27happens, I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. UM.
- 36:31Again, my question and the question of certain council people, is this fiscally
- 36:37responsible with the debt? UM? You know, it's definitely something that that
- 36:43Charleston needs and Charleston wants. But you know, and in the end,
- 36:46council people and city council work for us, the city government works for us.
- 36:51There this is our money, UM. And we just feel like watching
- 36:53this administration over the last several years, that the city council meeting last week
- 36:59and this commission meeting, it's just kind of their mode of operation. We
- 37:02never feel like the full story is really being told. UM. You know,
- 37:07the dots are heart really never connected. And we've had the opportunity to
- 37:12be at meetings and to go live and bring people. You know, when
- 37:16they see the full picture, when they see the city council meeting, they
- 37:20see the commission meeting, and they're able to put the two together, that's
- 37:22when they see inconsistencies. That's a problem, especially with you know, after
- 37:28one count or one county commissioner said, um, there was no funding for
- 37:32it on this on that podcast, and then a few weeks later, all
- 37:36of a sudden, there's five million dollars put into a bank account. Right.
- 37:39Well that didn't go of course, a drop in the budget. So
- 37:43yeah, we just think it's we think Pete Charleston is going to be better
- 37:45for this podcast that we're that's going to drop tomorrow, Scoop Squad, Truth
- 37:49Squad. They're going to learn a lot um. Where can people listen?
- 37:54I mean, if if somebody is listening, they're not podcasts savvy, how
- 37:59can they Well, you can say Alexa play the Scoop Squad True Squad,
- 38:01and she'll play it. You can go to any podcast platform. You could
- 38:05go to WCHS website and w network dot com and then go to podcasts and
- 38:10it's on the list. Yeah, we're right there. All right. I
- 38:14figured we would have some tax to have a few of the Texas have the
- 38:17guests talking about the sports complets give details. These vague and non specific allegations
- 38:22are meaningless. Listen to the podcast. Well, I mean, but but
- 38:27you're on this show now. Yeah, Well, I'm not going to give
- 38:29away my podcast. I'm not going to give away You got to listen to
- 38:31the podcast to see what inconsistencies there are and determined coming from council people.
- 38:37Yeah, and commission two council people were on that podcast dropping today. Uh,
- 38:43Texas, the Knack County Commission, Charleson City Council form to a committee
- 38:45because they've got a whole lot of money they can give. Their cronies will
- 38:47be on the committee. Well, I won't deny that, but you know,
- 38:53so far they haven't come up with anything specific other than five million dollars
- 38:58from the county. UM some kind of well, litigation, the term litigation
- 39:02has been thrown around. UM the county or Commissioner Selango has suggested that this
- 39:09board, this commission that they've formed, UM, we'll be able to make
- 39:13decisions as far as litigation. They may be suing the bondholders who of the
- 39:16parking Who they are? The commissioner is accusing the bondholders of holding the City
- 39:22of Charleston hostage the taxpayers of Canal County hostage because they won't give away I
- 39:29guess the garage right that they invested in right. ILL appreciate you being here,
- 39:35oh and for having Oh yeah, you're always always welcome on the show.
- 39:38Appreciate you being here and give us the details on the on the podcast
- 39:40again. We are the Scoop Squad, Truth Squad. We can be found

- 44:21to do that and said listen to the podcast instead. So I'll just leave
- 44:24it at that. Uh. Texts says shouldn't have guests on the show promoting
- 44:30their own podcast and wan't answer the questions ask maybe they don't want maybe they
- 44:34don't want to listen to their idiotic podcast. According to a texture, Dave,
- 44:39can you talk about how Roger Hanshaw is in Washington State trying to get
- 44:43our cost of living to rise? West Virginia's cheap to live because no one
- 44:46wants to live here. Can we keep it like that? Question mark?
- 44:49I don't want to be like Northern Virginia. According to the there are those
- 44:53that simply don't want people to move to West Virginia. And and I'll be
- 44:59honest with you, I kind of I kind of get it. I don't
- 45:00agree with it, but I do I do kind of get it. You
- 45:04know, sometimes we like our way of life here in West Virginian we don't
- 45:07want people coming here. But that's not that's not the reality. You can
- 45:12say that. Then on one hand you can say, well, that's a
- 45:15good idea, we don't want people. But on the other hand you're like,
- 45:16well, I don't, I don't know. We got to have people
- 45:20here. And because we are we are, we are losing population and mainly
- 45:23because of death, because we're the oldest state. There are some people coming
- 45:29in, but we're gonna have to We're gonna have to welcome people in.
- 45:31That's simply the way it is. All right, So in my home county
- 45:37of Putnam, the Putnam County Commission, and trust me, we're going to
- 45:42talk about this a lot more the next week or so. The Putnham County
- 45:45Commission passed three to nothing and ordinance that would ban kids from attending so called
- 45:54adult live performances. Now. Jared Lewis is a story post at w metri
- 46:00com. He was in attendance for the Putnham County Commission meeting last night.
- 46:02I was not. The ordinance says that anyone under the age of eighteen would
- 46:09be barred from attending a performance that they define as quote obscene and depicting sexual
- 46:17or lude conduct and quote Now, this would be in unincorporated communities, so
- 46:24as I understand it. And again I was not in attendance, and I'm
- 46:28certainly not an attorney. I don't even play one on the radio. This
- 46:30would not apply to any event held in municipality, So in Putnam County,
- 46:35that would be in Hurricane, Winfield, poker, Buffalo, et cetera,
- 46:37et cetera. It was a packed courthouse in Winfield last night. Again I
- 46:45was I was not there. And this all comes on the heels of the
- 46:50Putnam Pride event which was held last week at Valley Park. Did not attend
- 46:57well. I mean I knew, I knew it was going on. I
- 46:59even made a refer to it, I think on the show last week because
- 47:00I thought I thought it was kind of I don't want to say odd,
- 47:05that's not the correct term. I just had not seen something like that in
- 47:07Putnam County before, in a highly conservative, highly republican area. I just
- 47:13not seen any And to my knowledge, this was the first event. I
- 47:15could be wrong, but I think I think I think this was the first
- 47:20event like that. It just kind of took me by surprise when I saw
- 47:22that it was going on. I wasn't for it, I wasn't against it.
- 47:25I don't care doesn't involve me, but I did. I was kind
- 47:30of taken aback that it was happening. I guess. So the ACLU and
- 47:36their representatives were there last night, and they say it was redundant because West
- 47:42Virginia already has in code laws, ordinances, so on, and so forth
- 47:47that regulate adult entertainment. And the church folks were there last night as well,
- 47:58led by the one of the past masters of Tay's Valley Baptist Church,
- 48:01which is which is a megachurch there in Tays Valley, and it was his
- 48:07assertion that drag shows cannot be kid friendly. Now programming note here, I
- 48:15know Hoppy. We exchanged the emails from the torney was efforting to get Andy
- 48:20Skidmore, one of the commissioners on talk line today. Don't know if that
- 48:22helped. I tried to play as a goes to go between to try to
- 48:25because I knew Andy very well and tried to help. So I don't know
- 48:30whether I got him or not. I guess we'll have I'll listen with you
- 48:32at ten oh six coming up this morning, and he's going to have more
- 48:37on this ordinance as well. It was actually based on an ordinance past in
- 48:39Jefferson County not long ago, and I'm going to reach out to have these
- 48:45people on the show as well, because again I like to present all sides.
- 48:50I will reach out to the folks from the ACLU Putnam Pride and and
- 48:53the folks from Tays Valley Baptist and the other churches that were recognized there as
- 48:57well. I understand I was told by somebody that the Putnam County Republican Women's
- 49:02Club had a head a large presence there, and I will reach out to
- 49:05all them and have them on the show anybody that wants on so about the
- 49:10ordinance itself, Those who violate the ordinance could face a five hundred dollars fine
- 49:16or up to thirty days in jail. I'm not making this up. A
- 49:22second offense could get violators and one thousand dollars. Fine. Listen, I'm
- 49:28gonna say something here. It's gonna be really controversial. Okay. No one,
- 49:35in my opinion wants to have kids exposed to lude behavior. My issue
- 49:40when these things pop up is who defines what lude behavior is? What's lude
- 49:52and obscene to you may not be lude and offensive to your neighbor. And
- 49:58I'm gonna say this bear with me now. Promo material here. If you're
- 50:04worried about kids somehow being molested by drag queens, you may want to keep
- 50:09them away from Grandpa or Uncle Bill, or out of church or off sports
- 50:15teams, because statistically speaking, your kid is much more likely to be harmed
- 50:20in a sexual way by a family member or by a member of a church
- 50:23or a coach than they are a drag queen. Just saying, just saying,
- 50:30look it up, use your Google machine on Adam. All right,
- 50:34all right, let me see text says Button County Commission open a can of
- 50:40worms last night that will cause taxpayers dearly. They have no right to make
- 50:45decisions for parents. They made it clear that they are solely swayed by whatever
- 50:49large groups are come in front of them. Most currently, it's stays Valley
- 50:52Baptist. Not to mention Commistier Bryan Ellis lied to text. You're saying this
- 50:55lied on record by saying they in the parks had no clue about the drag
- 51:00portion, when in reality they knew all along, and the parks knew the
- 51:05day the contract was signed. Sounds like some way that may be an insider
- 51:07there, all right, trying to get to all these texts here text says
- 51:20this was the second year Putnam Pride, which I heard from my son was
- 51:22extremely well attended and organized. According to a texture, texture says, Putnam
- 51:30County ordinance is the same one passing Jefferson County. Go back and listen to
- 51:32the commissioner Metro news. It was written by an attorney in Jefferson County.
- 51:39It is scary, says a Texter. The side that runs the Republican Party
- 51:45in state and nationally scare me. According to a text Texas texture said,
- 51:49yes, you're right. That was definitely a very unpopular statement. The LGBT
- 51:52community are obsessed with indoctrinating children. Their parade group in New York City even
- 51:58come up with a chant about coming for our children. It's all over the
- 52:00internet if you want to see it for yourself. Dad, I have a
- 52:04major problem with major problem with it. And again I wasn't there. Doesn't
- 52:07involved me. It's gonna go to court and the Putnam County Commission's probably gonna
- 52:13lose in court about time, you know whatever. Whatever, All right,
- 52:16we gotta go coming up on the show tomorrow. I'm can talk to some
- 52:20hospice care. Also have another update, another regatta, and even Douglas from
- 52:22The Dirty Birds will stop by as well. Follow the news of the day
- 52:25WV Metro News dot com and at WCHS Network dot com as well from my
- 52:30producer the Atri and Anthony Harmon. Thank you so much. Valley Outdoor is
- 52:32one of our sponsors of the show. Thank you so much to Uncle Gee
- 52:35and the folks of Valley Outdoors. Gotta go see you tomorrow. Till then,
- 52:37have fun to love somebody
