Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherry Mackie
- 0:04Speaker 1: at his time right now for today's word. Unshackled forgiving yourself.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Unshackled forgiving yourself. First. John one in nine says, if
- 0:18Speaker 1: we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and
- 0:22Speaker 1: will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
- 0:30Speaker 1: You know, one of the hardest things for many people
- 0:32Speaker 1: to do is not believing God can forgive them, but
- 0:36Speaker 1: believing they can forgive themselves. We all have chapters in
- 0:41Speaker 1: our lives. We wish we could rewrite words. We shouldn't
- 0:47Speaker 1: have spoken, decisions, we shouldn't have made, opportunities we let
- 0:53Speaker 1: slip through our fingers. Even after we've prayed, even after
- 0:57Speaker 1: we've asked God for forgiveness, we still replay the scene
- 1:01Speaker 1: in our minds like a broken record. We punish ourselves
- 1:06Speaker 1: with guilt, with shame, and with regret, long after God
- 1:10Speaker 1: has already erased the debt. But here's the truth. When
- 1:15Speaker 1: God forgives, he doesn't forgive half way. He doesn't keep
- 1:19Speaker 1: a mental file on your past. He doesn't bring up
- 1:24Speaker 1: your mistakes every time you pray. Scripture says he purifies us,
- 1:31Speaker 1: He cleans us completely. That means the record is gone,
- 1:36Speaker 1: the slave is white clean. The moment you confess God
- 1:39Speaker 1: released you. The only one still holding you captive is you.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Too often we become our own worst enemy. We say
- 1:49Speaker 1: things like I should have known better, I've messed up
- 1:52Speaker 1: too many times. God can use other people, but not me.
- 1:57Speaker 1: That's not humility, y'all. That's self kind and self condemnation
- 2:02Speaker 1: will keep you stuck and yesterday. When God is calling
- 2:06Speaker 1: you into tomorrow, you can't move forward while dragging the
- 2:10Speaker 1: weight of your past behind you. Weren't created to live
- 2:14Speaker 1: chained to what you did in the past. You were
- 2:18Speaker 1: created to live empowered by what Christ has already done
- 2:22Speaker 1: for you. Forgiving yourself doesn't mean pretending it never happened.
- 2:26Speaker 1: It means refusing to let it define you. It means saying, yes, yes, yes,
- 2:31Speaker 1: I made a mistake, but they are not my identity.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I am forgiven, I am redeemed, and I am still
- 2:41Speaker 1: chosen by God. The enemy loves to label you by
- 2:44Speaker 1: your worst moments, divorced, addicted, failure, compromised, not good enough.
- 2:49Speaker 1: But God calls you by your future restored, healed, redeemed, favored,
- 2:54Speaker 1: a new creation, a child of the Most High God.
- 2:57Speaker 1: You have to choose which you're going to believe. You
- 3:03Speaker 1: can't change what's behind you, but you can decide what's
- 3:07Speaker 1: ahead of you. So stop rehearsing what went wrong and
- 3:11Speaker 1: start declaring what God says is right. Let today be
- 3:15Speaker 1: the day you drop the guilt. Let today be the
- 3:19Speaker 1: day you release the shame. Let today be the day
- 3:22Speaker 1: that you walk in the freedom God already paid for.
- 3:26Speaker 1: The past is over, grace is now, and the best
- 3:29Speaker 1: days are still in front of you. Come on, Jesus Father,
- 3:34Speaker 1: thank you for your mercy. It is greater than our mistakes.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Thank you that your mercy and your grace is stronger
- 3:40Speaker 1: than our failures. Thank you that we confess our sins,
- 3:44Speaker 1: you forgive and you cleanse us completely. Today, God, we
- 3:47Speaker 1: choose to forgive ourselves. We release the guilt and the
- 3:50Speaker 1: shame and the labels of our past. We declare that
- 3:54Speaker 1: we are redeemed, We're restored, and we're moving forward in
- 3:57Speaker 1: the future that you have prepared for us. In Jesus' name,
- 4:02Speaker 1: that's your word for today. Take it applied to your
- 4:04Speaker 1: everyday life, and you continue to be encouraged and inspired.
- 4:07Speaker 1: It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherry Mackie,
