2:54
some stuff she's taken care of in her personal life. She will return next
2:59
week. However, I will say that we do have our pet of the
3:01
week, and I posted it as always on my social media, Dave Allen
3:06
Radio on Facebook and the Dave Alan Show on X. The artists will be
3:09
known as Twitter. It is Dolly, and I'm gonna go ahead and bring
3:14
in my first guest now, Kate White, because she's gonna help me.
3:17
You didn't know you're going to do this, did you, Kate? I
3:19
did it all right. So Dolly is the dog's name. Picture posted as
3:24
I said on the socials around forty pounds. Dolly is female, probably should
3:30
be the only pets great with kids, I'm told great with kids, loves
3:37
being around people, just not so much pets. Can you relate to an
3:39
animal like that? K Do you have animals in your personal life? I
3:43
have a thirteen year old dog who is still pretty friendly with other animals,
3:46
but she's getting a little crinky sometimes. Well don't we all? I used
3:50
to be friendly with people too until I started so got my fifties and I
3:53
am not so much. She puts them on their place. So Dolly is
3:58
the dog's name around forty pounds, housebroken, does well in a car,
4:01
does well on a leash, knows how to sit, knows how to shake
4:08
very the ears are very cute. And if you want to see the picture
4:12
you can again go to my social media. I've got Dolly's picture post.
4:15
Dolly would be a great pet. I'm gonna I'm gonna put you to work
4:17
here. As I said, Kate, tell the people why why they should
4:21
consider adopting Dolly. Well, Dolly looks adorable. She's got these really perky
4:26
years and looks very happy. And you know, there's just nothing like the
4:29
love of a dog, a dog curling up by you, or pet and
4:31
a dog. It always calms me down and makes me feel like everything's gonna
4:34
be okay. So I think Dolly really needs home. Yeah, indeed.
4:38
All right, So there you go, Dolly's picture again posted on the social
4:42
media and my social media Dave alland Radio Facebook of a Day Allen Show on
4:45
x and we'll have had it back with us next week. But go and
4:47
get Dolly. Let's talk to Kate White now again Knawha County Board of Education
4:53
member, and would like to be elected at that position because you were appointed.
4:58
So we'll get in that story a little bit later on give us the
5:00
bio though on Kate White, Sure, sure, I'm a West Virginia born
5:03
and raised. I'm from Elkins and Randolf County, lived there my whole life.
5:08
Went to college in Pittsburgh. Didn't go to pitt w W fans don't
5:13
hate me here, Yeah, yes, I did not. I went to
5:15
Carnadie Mellen. I did not go to pitt I did not go to but
5:19
came back to West Virginia after that and went to law school at WVU and
5:24
have lived in Charleston for about seventeen years now, so it's home. Lived
5:28
here almost as long as I lived in Elkins. So you were appointed to
5:31
the board replacing your husband, right, Ryan, who was And I had
5:35
Ryan on the show earlier this week because he's running for the state Intermediate Court
5:39
of Appeals. You were appointed to that position. I guess you guys are
5:42
pretty busy in your household, right, It's been a very very busy spring.
5:46
We've got three kids who are very busy in sports and music, and
5:49
they're in school. So yes, we have been juggling a lot of friends
5:54
have been helping in family, and we're really appreciative. But it's also been
5:57
great for our kids to see both of us out there, and I'm proud
5:59
of that. They're engaged, they want to help us. They've been waving
6:01
signs, they've been you know, talking to friends, and so it's been
6:05
fun for them. I would talk to you about that because off the air
6:08
you were telling me that you had one of your kids out there sign waving
6:11
with you. But I'll tell the inside story here. You said that you
6:14
had them sign waving I guess in front of which donut shopping canosity. Yeah,
6:17
and they were out there sign waving, and that they were apparently more
6:21
interested in the donut than they were the sign waving. Correct. Correct.
6:25
We had to take a bathroom break and we ran and grabbed some donuts,
6:28
and she sat in the minivan while I waved some signs donuts. So why
6:32
did you consider being appointed to the board in the first place, because,
6:36
I mean, you didn't have to, weren't in ordered to be there.
6:39
You decide what was it about the Board of Education in that position that appealed
6:43
to you. Sure, Well, you know, I've got three kids in
6:46
school, and so I have also been really involved in my kids' schools.
6:49
So I see every day, you know, what they're going through, what
6:53
the teachers are going through, And for me, education is one of the
6:57
most fundamental things that we can do for our state to help our kids,
7:00
to give them a solid foundation. And so just felt like, you know,
7:03
having seen what Ryan went through and the experience, is that there's just
7:06
a huge chance to be a voice for the community, to you know,
7:10
relay as a parent, what do we see, what's happening with schools,
7:13
to relate what we hear from from folks, so be a conduit to the
7:16
superintendent and the administration. And so I just felt like I really wanted to
7:20
be a part of that and felt like I could bring a lot to the
7:23
table. And so, what have you learned in that position so far?
7:29
Because I anytime, you know, you think you no till you get there
7:31
in any office, not necessarily you what what did you learn? Sure,
7:35
I think people don't understand it, and you know, I had a little
7:39
background in it, but didn't fully understand the role of the board and a
7:43
good bit of the day to day decisions really are made by the superintendent and
7:46
the folks who work with the superintendent and the board's role is to oversee that
7:51
to make sure that things are happening. You know that the law says needs
7:55
to happen. There's a lot of law and procedure that goes through that process.
8:01
We had to go through personal hearings, which was very challenging and hard,
8:03
and you know, funding is just a major issue for the education system.
8:07
So that's been a big eye opener for me seeing what that looks like,
8:11
what the budget looks like, what the impact of you know, losing
8:15
students is, and how that impacts the number of teachers we can have,
8:18
the money we have for facilities, that kind of thing. Talk about the
8:22
challenges better and you kind of touched on a little bit from the challenge to
8:24
facing public schools today, right. I mean, the declining student population in
8:28
Kennack County is a huge issue because it absolutely impacts are funding and so how
8:33
do we still make sure that we're meeting the needs of all of our students
8:37
and we're supporting our teachers and paying them what we should be paying them with
8:41
less money. It's it's very hard and so that is a big, big
8:43
issue. Attendance is a big issue, and student behavior are things that I
8:48
think we've really got to get a handle on because after COVID, there's just
8:52
been so many things come to light, and so those are things I care
8:54
very passionately about and want to work if I'm elected to stay on the school
8:58
board to help the school system try to figure that out. Taro Ka White
9:03
again, who has been appointed to the Canaw County Board of Education and she
9:07
is now running for that position. The Day Violance Show in five eighty Live

9:31
Talk about the campaign, I know there was a form. I think
9:33
there was only was there only one one form held for for BOE candidates?
9:37
There was one, just one for Board of Education candis there have been others
9:41
with other candidates, right well to talk about the campaign. Sure, Yeah,
9:43
it's been really fun to get out there to meet people, to get
9:46
to meet the other candidates running for board, to meet other candidates running for
9:50
other offices. To listen, you know, I think that's important being a
9:56
board member is to listen to you know, parents, to listen to teachers,
9:58
to the concerns that folks have. So I've really appreciated that, and
10:03
I think as an attorney, that's something that pretty skilled at. It's something
10:05
we're trained to do, is kind of listen and think about solutions and try
10:09
to work through them. So I've enjoyed that. I've enjoyed getting to meet
10:13
people and getting out there. It's not something I ever thought I would do.
10:16
But I'm proud of myself for put myself out there and have a ton
10:18
of respect for other candidates and people who run for office. After having gone
10:22
through this, and of course being a board member in the state's largest county,
10:26
it's a little bit different. I mean, with all due respect to
10:28
all board members across the state of West Virginia across the country, a little
10:31
bit different being one here in Knawa County because one of the things I talked
10:33
about with Canawa County is no matter what the candidate is, it is kind
10:37
of a diverse county, meaning that you know, what Saint Albans is going
10:41
through may not be the same as what Cistonville is going through. And I
10:43
use that as an example, and I would imagine that it's the same when
10:46
you're when you're dealing with the public schools. You know, a GW may
10:50
not be the same as a Riverside and it's it's just because they're different,
10:54
very much so, and the needs of elementary, middle and high school are
10:58
very different. But I've seen that, you know, the eastern part of
11:01
the county has different issues, very much so than downtown Charleston schools. And
11:05
so it's a challenge to try to meet all of those needs and get the
11:09
support that you know, every school needs and wants. But I definitely want
11:13
to make sure that we do that and then we're listening because again, we
11:16
can't. You know, there are some things we have to do across the
11:18
county, right but as much as we can give local control schools to principles
11:24
to do what's best for them. I'm very supportive of that. We can't
11:26
always, but as much as we can, I think that matters because they
11:30
know what their needs are and they're very different across the county. You have
11:33
a website or social medium that you like to have a Facebook page, It's
11:37
Kate White for Kanall County Board of Education. So if you look me up
11:41
there, I've got some information about you know, just what I think and
11:43
what I care about and what I've been doing. I mean, the final
11:46
thirty. Why should someone vote for Kate White for candidate for the Canawa County
11:50
Board of Education. Sure. Well, I've very much appreciated the opportunity just
11:54
these past few months to serve as a member, and I think it's important
11:58
to have parents it's on the board who have kids in school. I have
12:01
a seventh grader next year who will be a rising seventh grader, and one
12:05
that'll start kindergarten. So I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. We're going
12:09
to be involved in the schools whatever happens, no matter what, because it's
12:11
something I care passionately about. As an attorney, I work with folks in
12:16
the community. You know, I understand what families are going through and I
12:18
want to make sure the county is doing everything we can to support students because
12:22
what's happening to them, unfortunately outside of the school does impact what's happening in
12:26
school, you know, with attendance, making sure we've got counselors support for
12:30
them so that kids can be at school and focused on school, which is
12:33
really what we need them to do. And you know, I'm just someone
12:35
who believes in listening and so I want to hear from folks. I want
12:39
to hear your ideas and suggestions and then be a conduit to the superintendent administration
12:43
about you know, how they think we can improve what we're doing. Okay,

It's one of my favorite things that we've ever volunteered for. You've never been
17:18
go You get to see a level of unbridled joy that's hard to find anywhere
17:22
else in this world. So we're just a couple of days left, yep
17:27
for we got early voting. Of course, we have regular voting. If
17:30
you have early voting going on to day tomorrow days. But who's counting Election
17:33
Day? Have you counteddate down? Election Day is on Tuesday. Polls open
17:37
six thirty am to seven thirty pm. Does it me or just seem like
17:41
this campaign has been going on since like nineteen seventy three, so I think
17:45
what you're talking The answer to your question is yes, And I'm not the
17:48
one like you. Folks are out driving all over the state, so I
17:52
mean, I'm not going to get the sympathy from you. The starting line
17:55
has moved back and what used to be one hundred yard dash is now for
18:00
four hundred, so it's a much longer campaign season. It's a slog.
18:06
It's crazy hard for people with young families like me, you know, puts
18:08
an enormous burden on my wife, who's just the absolute best just making sure
18:15
that everything's taken care of, not just with our business but with our family,
18:18
because I have to spend so much time in my district, and my
18:22
district is all fifty five counties. Have you been surprised by the level of
18:29
nasty in this campaign? So, I'm never It's hard to be surprised by
18:33
anything in politics anymore. But I am surprised by the amount of money,
18:40
and I am surprised by the vitrol. I knew that there was going to
18:45
be a lot of negativity in the election this year, but it is it
18:49
seems it seems to have reached sort of a crescendo here that is higher than
18:55
we've ever seen before, honey. And I'm not just necessarily talking about your
18:59
race, I'm just talking about races in general. Yeah, how did we
19:04
get here? Why are we here? So I'll tell you, we're very,
19:07
very proud to have run a one hundred percent positive campaign. We have
19:11
a record, a conservative record that we are proud to run on. We
19:15
have a level of results being a statewide elected official, be in the auditor
19:19
for the last seven years, and we're proud to talk about me. I
19:22
don't. I don't feel the need to talk about anybody else but myself.
19:26
But how did we get here? I think there's a negative feedback loop between
19:30
national politics and consultants, and I think that there's a lot of people who
19:36
are afraid to try to change the dynamic, and there's sort of a you
19:40
know, a running strategy that you know, you tear down and build up.
19:44
And I think that the American public at some point is going to say
19:48
enough of this. And the people who are willing to step outside the traditional
19:52
box of campaigning and say we're going to do it a new way. It
19:56
might not work at first, I'm very hopeful that it works in my race,
20:00
and I hope that that people see that. But I think that that
20:04
there's going to be a new kind of candidate throughout this country that is able
20:11
to transcend the negativity and really inspire people with messages of change and messages of
20:18
conservatism that motivate people to vote for something. But Dave Alan Chowing five any

in one day from Shepherdstown to Wheeling to Huntington, you haven't lived. And
20:57
we've been all over the place. We've been in Jefferson and Berkeley and Ohio
21:02
and Cabull and Putnam and kanaw We've been in Logan and Boone, We've been
21:07
in Greenbrier, We've been in Wood County, We've been in Jackson County,
21:11
and you know, the next four days it's just more of the same.
21:15
It is its events, meeting voters, inspiring voters, encouraging people to vote,
21:21
and really, at the end of this campaign, as we look forward
21:23
to a big victory on Tuesday, it's a continuation of listening to stakeholders about
21:29
what are the biggest problems in West Virginia. Just yesterday, we spent an
21:32
hour and a half torn a child care facility in Parkersburg, talking to the
21:36
director of that facility along with others, about this incredible lack of options for
21:41
young parents for childcare in West Virginia. And it truly is one of our
21:45
biggest It's an impediment both to our early public school education and it's an impediment
21:52
to our workforce. And I think it's going to be incumbent upon me and
21:56
the next governor and the next legislature to tackle this head on. We have
22:00
somewhere in the neighborhood of seventeen thousand families in West Virginia who don't have access
22:03
to childcare that they either can find or that they can afford. And what
22:07
that does is it takes people out of the workforce, and in a lot
22:11
of situations where parents are struggling, it makes it very very hard for particularly
22:18
young kids three and four year olds to get the early childhood education they need
22:23
to be successful kindergarteners. When you are out and about and you and your
22:30
opponent, Mike Sort, I think would both agree that I've heard either one
22:33
of you say anything necessarily negative about the current Attorney General Patrick Morrissey. I
22:37
think you're both on the same page that do you think he's done a good
22:38
job as Attorney general? What do you hear from people about the job that
22:42
mister Morrisey's done, and what are they saying? What are they asking of
22:47
you? Most people are asking me to make sure that we continue to have
22:52
a leadership role in this country in defending the values of Appalachians. And what
22:57
that means is is there are people around this country that are similarly situated to
23:02
West Virginia's. People that live in states that depend on natural resources, people
23:04
that live in states that believe in religious freedom, people that believe that our
23:08
churches, who are all organized as five oh one c threes, have the
23:12
ability to speak freely about why and which candidate they want to support. People
23:18
that believe in the Second Amendment, people believe in being pro life. And
23:22
what Attorney General Morrissey has done is become our country's leader in defending that value
23:29
set. And I think why that matters is that the woke left has waged
23:36
war on places like this and it would be in their best interest. And
23:40
the thing that we have to defend the most is to make sure that we
23:42
are unsuccessful. And you know, people can say, oh, that's just
23:45
a talking point, Well it's not just last week. The Biden administration is
23:52
showing their hand and trying to deliver a death blow to our coal industry.
23:56
And every single time that they have the opportunity to make West Virginia successful,
24:02
they go the other way. And you can see that. Just think about
24:06
this. The Biden administration is trying to make sure that every American has to
24:11
drive an electric car by twenty forty. If they were to have come to
24:15
West Virginia and said, all right, we're going to have one hundred million
24:18
new electric cars on the road. We want you to be the nation's battery.
24:22
We want you to build three new gas fired power plans and two new
24:25
coal fired power plants, and we want West Virginia to be the deliverer of
24:30
the electricity that charges the new car. Then that's a partnership. Then they're
24:34
saying, we believe in West Virginia, we understand your economy, we want
24:38
the people of West Virginia to be wildly successful. And then there's a partnership.
24:44
Then you're saying, both of these things have a place in our economy.
24:45
But they didn't do that. They tried to kill the coal industry,
24:48
tried to kill the gas industry at the same time they're shoving these cars down.
24:53
And so it's just so evident to me that when a very obvious opportunity
24:59
was present to them for us to be a part of the new economy,
25:02
they said, nope, we just want you to drive our cars and not
25:07
have a job. And it's just so obvious to me that we have a
25:11
real battle for the soul of what this country is about. And I don't
25:18
mind that people live in other places than West Virginia, and I don't even
25:21
mind disagreeing with them about politics, but I do mind when they seek to
25:26
destroy the very things that make West Virginia great. And for me, being
25:30
Attorney General would be the greatest honor of my life because I would be defending
25:37
the things that I love the most, and that is the people and the
25:40
values of West Virginia. Well, best ill luck to you in the campaign
25:42
trail the next couple days. Now, have you early voted or you're an
25:45
election day? We are an election day family. I don't know whether there's
25:48
schedule for you Canada, so would allow you to do that? So we
25:51
have a my wife and I have a routine. We like to watch the
25:55
movie The Campaign on election Day with Will Ferrell. It it brings a little
26:00
levity to what is a generally stressful day. And we really like to take
26:03
our kids with us to vote. You know, they know all the pole
26:07
workers. Now we know all the poll workers, and just them going in
26:10
and seeing the process I think is very very important. Our daughters are nine
26:14
and six and uh and I'll brag a little bit on my on my daughter,
26:18
she is the president of her third grade class. Holds elementary school starts
26:22
early and when the teacher called and said that she had won it. I
26:26
assume that's what it felt like when Michael Jordans saw his kid make a jump
26:30
shot or Tiger Woods make a put or something like that. But the I'm
26:33
very prideful of my children's activities, but watching my kid when an election was
26:37
really something. Let me ask you about this and then we'll let you go.
26:38
Okay. So, as somebody who's been around politics here for a long
26:41
long time and its spent, you know, most of your adult life in
26:45
one way or the other around politics, if you were if your child,
26:48
if your daughter, if she said this is what and I know it's very
26:52
early, but she decided this is what I want to do. Would it
26:53
be something that you'd like for her to do or I it as long as
26:57
she's doing it. To be a public servant, there is absolutely nothing in
27:02
my life that would make me prouder than if my daughter said I want to
27:06
make sure that the people that live on either side of me are more successful
27:08
tomorrow than they are today. The entire idea of public service is to write,
27:14
to bring up the people around you, to make sure that everybody else
27:18
in West Virginia has a better chance at being more successful than they are today,
27:23
and that is that's what service is about. I got to listen to
27:26
Tim Tebow the other night at the West Virginians for Life dinner, and he
27:30
delivered an incredible speech, and the thing that he talked the most about was
27:36
that the word passion gets sort of misused, and passion was a word that
27:40
was invented to describe essentially Jesus's level of service to the world. And there
27:48
is no other way to describe what it means to be passionate in your service.
27:53
And so if we are working as hard as we can to make sure
27:59
that our children grow up in a way that they see their role in the
28:03
world as to make sure that everyone else has a better life, and I'm
28:08
certain that she'll be that way. And if that's her reason for getting into
28:11
public service, then nothing would make me prouder than her fighting the same fight
28:15
that I'm fighting for the people that I love the most. State auditor and

You're not here to spread hate? Are you? No? Absolutely not okay.
34:24
John smoot is with the Tays Valley Fire Department, Right, yes,
34:29
okay, But here's here to talk about what voters are looking at the on
34:36
the ballot when they go to the polls, either on election day or they
34:38
early vote. Now in Putnham County, explain what this levee is all about.
34:43
This levee will support the fire service in Putnam County. It will bring
34:47
much needed funds to cover cost of needed people to feel the declining volunteerism,
35:00
to fix the staffing problems that the departments in Putnam County are facing. It
35:06
will bring additional monies to purchase equipment, take care of facilities, take care
35:12
of our communication needs, and just provide better operating So as best I understand
35:20
this, now, there was over there was a two million dollar emergency services
35:24
levy that was posed in twenty twenty two. Is that right? And the
35:29
voters voted for it, but not buy a wide enough margin. Is that?
35:31
Is that a correct analogy? Yeah, they came in between fifty two
35:37
and fifty three percent and it was a three million dollar referendum and it was
35:45
to provide money for fire and ems. And the difference with this issue on
35:52
Tuesday, is that it is solely tied to the fire service. MS is
35:57
out of the equation now and it's two point five million, okay. And
36:04
so you have talked in the past here in other places that I've heard you
36:08
and others within the county speaking about how difficult it is. One of the
36:13
reasons that you're asking of is because you just don't have enough numbers. I
36:15
don't mean necessarily money. That's part of it too, but I'm talking about
36:19
bodies, about people that you need to operate emergency services of Putnam County in
36:23
other areas. Yeah, And the difference that people need to understand is the
36:30
fire service in Putnam County is delivered by nine departments that including the City of
36:38
Nitro that occupies part of Putnam County. We work as a system, but
36:45
the departments there are all combinations or three are combination department City of Nitro,
36:53
Tayese Valley, Hurricane, which means that we have some paid staffing still rely
37:00
upon the volunteer system. The volunteer system is what is suffering. There are
37:07
not enough people to come into the business. It's not one of those things
37:14
that people are wanting to get involved in now and since COVID, it really
37:22
has hit a decline because of everything that was presented during the pandemic, and
37:28
it's just not a popular thing to be volunteering your time to do in a
37:36
business that has a lot of risk to it. Talking again with John Smooth
37:42
about the Emergency Services left, It's been called a couple of different things,
37:45
right, Yeah, In twenty twenty two it came out as an emergency services
37:52
levee and that was to deal with the fire in the MS issues. Now
37:57
it's just fire rescue. You may see some signs out that still call it
38:02
the Emergency Services levee, but it is the fire Rescue levee and solely dedicated
38:09
to the FIR service. Talk about the number of calls that have come in,
38:13
and you've been doing this for a while. Not saying you're old or
38:16
anything. I'm just saying you've been you've been, you've been at this.
38:19
How long have you been at this? Last month was fifty years, fifty
38:22
years. Talk about the number of calls and how they've how they've gone up.
38:29
We were told twenty years ago that the baby boomers were going to increase
38:36
the demand on our services. We are in prime baby boomer time. I'm
38:44
one, and our call volume has gone up because of the demand of medical
38:51
services. The fire departments in Putnam County are involved in providing medical care as
38:57
well as the fire rescue component of what we do, and so we've known
39:04
for a very long time that our call volume was going to kind of blow
39:08
up just because of an aging population. But Dave Island showing five any Live

39:47
good prognosis. And the staffing issues are not going to go away. The
39:55
cost of operations in today's the co on me fuel is blowing us up.
40:05
The supply chain issues are still quite causing quite of the problem in emergency services.
40:17
The cost of equipment has gone out the roof, and the money just
40:27
needs to be there to operate. And if the money's not there to operate,
40:30
then there's going to be declining services, longer response times, the same
40:37
thing that we keep trying to educate people about that it's just not going to
40:43
work. The big question everybody seems to ask when it comes to these things
40:46
is how does it affect my wallet? That's what people want to know.
40:52
Some folks will see an increase. Some folks will not see an increase,
40:59
and the fee or the fire fee that is currently in place will disappear,
41:05
and it will be a thing that has done through the Sheriff's department, through
41:09
the tax division, and it'll be automatic and you won't have to worry about
41:15
another bill. But some people could experience an increase and some will experience a
41:22
decrease. But the bottom line is, from what you're telling me, I'm
41:23
not trying to take sides either way, trying not to sound like it anyway,
41:28
but the bottom line is is that services if this does not pass.
41:35
The services will be impacted. I mean greatly, yes, they will.
41:38
And Taste Value was a prime example of that. In the late summer of
41:44
twenty three. That's when we really developed a staffing problem due to funding and
41:52
we cut back on staffing fire equipment twenty four hours a day. Our ambulances
42:00
are still staffed twenty four hours a day, but the fireside is greatly impacted.
42:07
Your final ask John, for the voters of Putnam County. With my
42:10
candidates, I say, I do a thing called the final thirty when I
42:14
say why should people vote for you? Your final plea to the people of
42:17
Putnam County. When we bring this these messages to you, we are charged
42:29
with the responsibility of providing you public safety. And without the equipment, without
42:35
the people, we can't provide good service. It just our response times will
42:42
continue to grow. We will not have enough people to show up to do
42:47
what tasks need to be done. And if you have the mentality that it
42:55
will never happen to me, I've been on the front row seat of people's
43:04

43:10

quick text says the Putnam fire Levy will raise taxes on everyone from the lower
47:12
middle class and up, so most all residents in the county will have yet
47:15
more taxes to pay. The only people who won't get a tax increase are
47:19
low income people, says a texture. Texta says, make no mistake.
47:22
If the fire levee does not pass with Putnam, there's a chance that if

you dial nine to one one someone may not show up. Vote like your

the other. Once the new legislature gavels in this year, next year,
47:37
I guess there would be a new delegate representing District twenty. The current sitting
47:42
delegate representing the district, Jeff Foster, not running for reelection. One of
47:45
the candidates on the Republican side is Jacob Blash, and he joins us now.
47:47
Jacob, good morning, welcome to the show. Good morning, nice
47:51
to be here. Give us the bio on Jacob Losh. Yeah, so
47:57
I've lived in Putnham County. About my entire life. I'm from you know,
48:00
Winfield, Scott Depot. Pretty much my entire life. My family here
48:04
is all from here. My grandfather he's been a pastor and hurricane for many
48:08
many years. My dad, he's the chief of police of Winfield currently.
48:13
He was a state trooper for over twenty some years. My uncle, he's
48:16
a state trooper he's a captain in the state Police right now. Also,
48:21
my mom works across the river and Eleanor at a steel manufacturing plan And so
48:25
I kind of grew up around Putnam County. I know Putnam County well.
48:30
I graduated from Winfield. In twenty twenty, I graduated from Marshall. I'm
48:35
now the marketing and business development officer at Pioneer Appalachia Federal Credit Union and I've
48:39
been there for about a year or so. You know, I was unanimously
48:44
elected as the Putnam County Republican Club President, actually taking the rollover from you,
48:49
Dave. So But yeah, so I know the community, they know
48:52
me, and I'm just looking forward to being being able to serve them.
48:58
Why do you want to serve? Well, what is it about this job
49:00
that appeals to you? You know? I always, just like I said,
49:05
I've always just loved this community. I've always wonted what's best for it,
49:08
and I've always felt that, you know, the people in this district
49:13
deserve a representative that is going to be transparent with them, you know,
49:19
and that is going to be that has integrity, and I really feel like
49:23
we've been lacking that, you know, in general, and so I really
49:29
think, you know, I would love to be able to bring kind of
49:30
transparency back and being able to help people, you know, and being able
49:35
to communicate and get out in the community and understand the needs that they have
49:38
and you know, be able to bring that up to the capital and be
49:42
able to get things done. How's the campaign been so far, Jacob?
49:45
Pretty good. Actually, we've we've met a lot of people, We've talked
49:49
to a lot of people, We've we've done we've done a lot of events,
49:52
we've you know, the the greatest thing about the campaign to me is
49:57
getting out and meeting people. I mean, on a see it's one of
50:00
the greatest things. It's one of the greatest privileges. I mean there is
50:04
honestly to be able to talk with people, to hear their concerns, to
50:07
actually listen to them and you know, try to get to work on their
50:10
behalfs. So what what what have you been hearing from people when you're out
50:16
talking to them? Yeah, I mean a big thing is is transparency and
50:22
accountability, so for our legislature and trying to remain accountable to them and being
50:27
able to have that open dialogue and open communication with them. That's a major
50:30
thing we've heard. Also, you know, trying to bring more investment into
50:35
Putnam County, bringing more economic development in and our education system is something that
50:40
gets brought up a lot, and how we need to be able to continue
50:44
to improve that and improve things for our kids. And so those are those
50:49
are three big issues that come up time and again, along a variety of
50:54
issues including you know, public safety and I mean et cetera. There's all
50:59
there's all sorts. Where can people learn about your campaigns? We wrap it
51:01
up here. Yeah, so they can go to our website and go to
51:05
loss for delicate dot com, or they can call me at three or four,
51:07
eight oh seven, seven nine ninety seven. We have a Facebook page
51:09
also so they can get ahold of us and they can ask us questions,
51:15
get good with us, or do anything on that front. Give me the
51:17
final thirty seconds. Why should someone vote for Jacob Blish? Yeah, I
51:22
mean I've been around. You know, I ran in twenty twenty two.
51:24
I lost by one hundred and seventeen votes, but I stuck around. I
51:28
never I never went away. You know a lot of people come and go,
51:31
but I'm still here. A matter of fact, I took even more
51:35
of an active role in the Republican Party and in my community and for the
51:39
people of District twenty than ever before. And so I really believe that is
51:44
that is the main motivator, That's the main differential. Is I've stuck around,
51:49
I've been here, the people know me, I know them, and
51:52
I know the issues that are affecting our district. All right, Jacob,
51:55
we got to leave it there. We wish you the best of luck with
51:58
the campaign. Man. Thanks a lot, Thank you, I appreciate it.
