- 0:47Thank you. Now here are the hosts of the
- 0:50United We Scan podcast. Welcome back everybody, Episode
- 0:55125, how to get more participation.
- 0:59And we have a special guest. Josh, why don't you do the
- 1:02introductions for us of our special guest?
- 1:05Well, our special guest tonight is none other than the man, the
- 1:08Myth, the Legend from ADA Arbitration Zone, Corey Walton.
- 1:12And Corey is going to be the next executive VP of the NALC.
- 1:20And I'm I'm pulling for him even as a rural carrier.
- 1:26Welcome aboard, Corey. Well, I appreciate that we're
- 1:31feeling good right now. Every.
- 1:35Time, every time Renfro opens his mouth, you ought to feel
- 1:40good. I feel much better about our
- 1:43odds every time he does. I mean you could talk about
- 1:49Renfro or Lou Dreas or any of them that that are are attacking
- 1:54you consistently. It it seems like they're coming
- 1:57out after me for some reason, I don't know why.
- 2:01Because you are the. Best of my.
- 2:02Thought because you are the the voice of the the voiceless in
- 2:09the city craft. Yeah.
- 2:11Yeah, and I hate that Lou came out like that because I do
- 2:15respect Lou. But, you know, and we're going
- 2:18back and forth having a good time with each other.
- 2:20But the last time he came out and was talking about kind of
- 2:23glorifying his alcoholism, I said I'm not going to I'm going
- 2:26to be done with him, that he's got a bigger demon to fight than
- 2:29me. And so I'm not going to, I'm not
- 2:31going to engage him any longer after that statement because I
- 2:35that that's a whole different beast for him.
- 2:41You know, and so as we normally do, we usually talk about how
- 2:45our week was, we missed it the last episode and it just skipped
- 2:48right into things. But might you start us out,
- 2:52Corey? How has your whirlwind week
- 2:55been? Because we know you've been all
- 2:56over the place. Yeah, we've been going.
- 2:59James, Henry and I, he's the one running for president.
- 3:02We've been going to as many places as possible.
- 3:04Generally, somebody asks us to come, we're going to try to be
- 3:07there whether it's one person or 1000 people.
- 3:10And so this past week, 2 weeks ago, went to Cleveland, went to
- 3:14the zoo there, they had a big meeting there.
- 3:16That was fantastic. Then we drove from there to
- 3:19Detroit and had a, it was a kind of a picnic for the next
- 3:25business agent of that region, Walt Mcgregory, and he's on the
- 3:28CLC slate. So we had a picnic up in
- 3:31Detroit. That was a fantastic time.
- 3:34And then this past week we went to the Illinois State
- 3:38Convention. We had a big time there that was
- 3:40in Springfield, IL and had a picnic there with Branch 11.
- 3:46That's one of the biggest branches in Illinois.
- 3:49Chicago, and went to a meet and greet, had a great time.
- 3:53And then of course, you know, I had the accident on the way
- 3:55back. Somebody rear-ended me.
- 3:57So I'm got to get me a rental tomorrow.
- 3:59I was supposed to go to Wisconsin tomorrow and they have
- 4:04a meeting Tuesday, so I was going to drive up there, but I
- 4:06don't think I'm going to be able to make it now because I don't
- 4:08have a car. So.
- 4:09But yeah, it's been a busy week. Sounds like it.
- 4:14And I'm sorry we couldn't meet up in Detroit.
- 4:16Both of us apparently were very busy at the time to actually get
- 4:20our schedules together. But yeah, we it.
- 4:23Was a quick it was a quick trip. We went up and went specifically
- 4:27for their their picnic and we're made.
- 4:31We made it over to Canada. I didn't realize that Canada was
- 4:34that close, but it's just across the bridge.
- 4:37It's right there. You can hit it with a rock from
- 4:39Detroit. You take a boat South of
- 4:42Detroit, you'll actually hit Canada.
- 4:45Yeah, we just drove over the bridge right to Canada, played
- 4:47bingo over there and drove back over.
- 4:50Yeah, pretty cool. Yeah.
- 4:53How'd you like? How'd you like our state?
- 4:57Detroit when we was in Detroit. How'd you like Michigan in
- 5:01general? Michigan was great.
- 5:03Detroit was fantastic. We didn't get to see a whole lot
- 5:06of Detroit, but we just drove through Michigan, so we didn't.
- 5:11But driving through was nice. But Detroit, yeah, I mean, it
- 5:14was. It's a good city.
- 5:16Oh. Yeah.
- 5:18Do you Do you like Detroit? Depends on the part of Detroit
- 5:23you go to. Yeah.
- 5:25You know, they're, they're revitalizing a lot of that.
- 5:27Ford just finished working on the old train station, the
- 5:32Michigan Central Depot, getting that refurbished.
- 5:35And so now that area's starting to come back.
- 5:38It's a city on revival. It's slowly coming back from the
- 5:43depths of absolutely devastation.
- 5:47So watching it grow back as it is, slowly, not trying to do too
- 5:53much too fast is probably the best way to go about it.
- 5:57So I think they're making progress.
- 5:59I'm sure there's some Detroit people who are gonna gonna
- 6:02chastise me for saying that, but I've been to downtown Detroit a
- 6:08lot. I drive through Detroit.
- 6:11I go the back roads instead of taking the freeways.
- 6:13So I do drive through even some of the worst parts of it.
- 6:18But there's a lot of stuff to grow in Detroit, so I think that
- 6:24they're on their way. Well, we went from Ohio to
- 6:27Michigan, so it was just a very quick, it's what, 2 1/2 hours
- 6:30was all it was to go from where we were to Detroit.
- 6:34So I didn't get to see a whole lot of Michigan, but.
- 6:37Yeah, well, maybe sometime you'll come back and visit a
- 6:41little bit longer. We'll definitely be back,
- 6:43absolutely. Like I said, then the next
- 6:45business agent for that region is going to be Walt McGregor,
- 6:49and he's right there in the heart of it.
- 6:50So we'll be out there again. All right.
- 6:54Sounds good. Josh, how was your week?
- 6:58My week was it was warm Tuesday I have my relief day and Oh my
- 7:05God it I could barely breathe. Tuesday and warm is under
- 7:12selling it. It was hot as shit.
- 7:15You walked outside, it's like someone kicked you in the chest
- 7:18and you can't catch your breath. I'm in a mattress at my route
- 7:23and thank God for air conditioning.
- 7:26But my heart goes out to anybody who's in ALLV that has no AC
- 7:30because this is, this is cruel and unusual punishment, folks.
- 7:34And, and the fact, like I was listening to Corey's podcast on
- 7:40heat, they're telling them the city cares.
- 7:43That is to keep it moving, beat the heat and to take only
- 7:47authorized breaks. Shut up, I'll take as many
- 7:51breaks as I damn well please. Your butt sitting in the in the
- 7:55post office in air conditioning. I'm already going ready to go
- 8:02start A little rant but my week was good.
- 8:06Just another week of mail and yesterday my route cut went into
- 8:12effect and now I'm picking up mail at a post office to bring
- 8:18it back to my SNDC. Yeah, don't think about it.
- 8:21Doesn't make much sense. But you know what, it's great
- 8:24for me. If I get done early, I can go
- 8:28where the post office is. There's a restaurant behind it.
- 8:30I can go have a meal or I can go sit in the post office in the AC
- 8:33and cool off. Bill, how was your week of what
- 8:38not to do? Oh, God, it, it was probably,
- 8:43like you said, warm. It was so humid.
- 8:46One day I got the leaf blower so I could blow the humidity off
- 8:50the door so I could come outside.
- 8:53It was just, you know, you, you just take a breath in and you
- 8:56feel the air going into your lungs.
- 8:59It's like, oh, this is not healthy.
- 9:00OK, Not at all. You know, again, you know, I'm,
- 9:05I'm the recent retiree, but I've been handling.
- 9:10Oh close the 32 different situations and offices and most
- 9:17of them are because of the scanner messages in regards to
- 9:20stationary events. It's about the heat somebody put
- 9:25up on one of the platforms. The inside of their LLV was
- 9:28126°. I saw where another carrier died
- 9:35and some woman posted from her second floor balcony.
- 9:38She goes, they're federal workers, why don't they have air
- 9:41conditioning? Why can't we protect them?
- 9:43I mean, here's a common citizen asking these questions and
- 9:48rightfully so. Why?
- 9:51Why are they going out there? Why aren't they moving?
- 9:53The starting time's up. When is somebody going to get
- 9:56enough balls to put a foot up somebody's ass at the plants and
- 10:00get them to disperse the mail onto the trucks earlier so that
- 10:05we don't have to lose one more person to these conditions?
- 10:10I, I don't get it. You know, there's, there's a
- 10:13whole litany of things that I went through this week we'll
- 10:15discuss later. But the fact that you're you,
- 10:19you turned around and pushed the Amazon Sunday start time back to
- 10:2310 P 10 AM. Are you stupid?
- 10:28Yes. Are you that fucking?
- 10:34You know, I, I just, I, I shake my head.
- 10:38I mean, you know, there are some days I wish I was back in my
- 10:41office as a steward because I, I'd be chopping down trees
- 10:44writing up all these grievances. But you know, like you said, you
- 10:49got, you got your cut yesterday. Our office went through cuts on
- 10:53only one zip code. The the other zip code hasn't
- 10:56been cut. And, you know, there might be a
- 10:59grievance there because of the fact that, you know, you're
- 11:01affecting wages from one group but not the other.
- 11:04There's no equitable situation there that other people can be
- 11:0840 sevens or 40 eights while you're being cut to 40 threes
- 11:11and such. And on doing the cuts, they
- 11:15created AK route and an H route. Oh, let's see.
- 11:20Hold it. Yeah, they created two more
- 11:22routes for people they don't have and also are still 4
- 11:27vehicles short, but we'll talk more about that later.
- 11:31Because yeah, when I tell you all this, that this is going to
- 11:34just make you sit there and shake your head and wonder about
- 11:37the viability of the United States Postal Service under its
- 11:40current management. I've enjoyed all the interaction
- 11:46this week. Got the grandson on Tuesday into
- 11:49Wednesday and I'm not personally going to start a venture of
- 11:55going after this lady who is, you know, on podcast there.
- 11:59I think Mr. Johnson put it up in regards to the future of the
- 12:03post office. I, I, I'm making that my new
- 12:06mission in life because this is ridiculous, folks.
- 12:11The way this service, the United States Postal Service is being
- 12:17led and managed and coerced by management.
- 12:23It's performing unsafe work conditions, toxic work
- 12:27environments, and I'm sick and tired of it.
- 12:31So I, I'm going to make that my mission to go after these people
- 12:35because this is, this can't go on.
- 12:38You know, we, we know people who work in offices where they don't
- 12:42even have enough people to cover the routes and they're beating
- 12:46them up on the MOU. Oh, you have to help.
- 12:48No, you don't. Oh, you have to take a piece?
- 12:51No, you don't. And in this weather, ladies and
- 12:54gentlemen, tell them to kiss your ass.
- 12:57If you volunteer, that's on you. If you don't walk out.
- 13:03Enough of this horseshit. OK, I'm done.
- 13:05My mini rant from there. I Let me tell you, ladies and
- 13:11gentlemen, I am so pissed at the quality of management, the lack
- 13:16of direction the United States Postal Service is is currently
- 13:20in. And then you're going to bring
- 13:23in from some somebody as APMG who is a competitor who's been
- 13:29in entitled positions of the board and never really service
- 13:35the industries he's been in. And he's going to turn us around
- 13:42just like the joy with his experience with was it XPO?
- 13:48I I don't think so. And you know, just just just for
- 13:54the record, raise the price of stamps again.
- 13:56You're not killing first class mail enough.
- 13:59Raise the price of stamps again, you morons.
- 14:03All right, James, go ahead, take the floor.
- 14:09Well after that. Wow, you make my problem seem so
- 14:15tiny. So on Monday I went in and it
- 14:22was a heavy Monday as usual. I had three extra trays of DPS
- 14:27compared to my normal, my average and I.
- 14:32Because of the weather situation, the heat and
- 14:35possibility of rain in the afternoon, I crisscross my mail.
- 14:40Each address goes a different direction in my tray as I put
- 14:45the pulled down mail from my case which is in 1/2 tray next
- 14:49to it into that mail and then put it all into a half tray so
- 14:53it doesn't tip over and fly it all over the place inside the
- 14:57LOV. Plus I put a half tray upside
- 15:00down with a mail strap on it that holds one of my battery
- 15:06powered fans that uses one of my tools battery power fans so it
- 15:10blows air through from the window across the truck keeping
- 15:15it about 10° cooler in there. Well the postmaster decides to
- 15:22come over and berate me for the process of how I pull down and
- 15:29crisscross my mail. I was almost done.
- 15:32I was on the last set of boxes, the last section St. that I had
- 15:38left of my route and he tells me what are you still doing in here
- 15:43and why are you doing it that way?
- 15:45It's taking too long. You need to take your DPS and
- 15:48everything and take it out to the street.
- 15:50No, I said this makes it more efficient for me on the street
- 15:54so I don't care what it does. You're taking it out of the
- 15:57street. Now.
- 15:57I turn around and I said do you want to take this in private?
- 16:00No, I just want you to take that out to the street and get out of
- 16:03this office now. I said OK I need APS Form 8191
- 16:09when I get back. Then I proceeded to take
- 16:12everything to the street. Came back at 4:00 PM on a 4040K
- 16:19route which is 8 hours a day. I started 8:00 AM and I go.
- 16:25So do I have to take DPS to the street tomorrow?
- 16:28No OK that's what I thought. I still need that 8191 because
- 16:33I'm filing a failure to comply with a previous grievance
- 16:38settlement where you berate somebody on the workroom floor
- 16:45is a hostile work environment. I've previously grieved this
- 16:49twice before, so this will be the third time.
- 16:52So now we're going for escalator remedy, which is what you're
- 16:56supposed to do after they failed to comply with a previous
- 16:59grievance. Would you agree with that,
- 17:01Corey? Yes.
- 17:04Exactly. But the rest of the week it was
- 17:07quiet. Never talked to me after that
- 17:09because I filed that grievance that day, called my my the
- 17:13district assistant district Rep. See, I emailed it to her that
- 17:16night. She's going to handle it for me
- 17:18and it should be done within the next couple of weeks.
- 17:23But other than that, it was a normal week the rest of the week
- 17:27except I celebrated my birthday on Friday or no Thursday.
- 17:34Thursday my, my, I'm getting old man.
- 17:38I'm getting old. Forgetting stuff.
- 17:40It's on Thursday and Saturday was my parents 50th anniversary
- 17:45and so we celebrated that today. I went up there and they renewed
- 17:49their vows at church and then we went out to brunch together and
- 17:55spent some time together with my parents and then came back here
- 17:59to do the podcast. So that's been my week so far.
- 18:03Not as interesting as Bill's week has been.
- 18:05Apparently Bill takes the cake on this one, although Corey is
- 18:08running close second with running all over like a chicken
- 18:10with his head cut off. And getting in a car wreck.
- 18:15And getting in a car wreck and speaking.
- 18:17Of Josh, you have hold it, he said.
- 18:20He got rear-ended. I didn't hear anything about a
- 18:22car involved there. I'm.
- 18:27A smart car? Oh.
- 18:28Oh, your car, OK. But well, yeah, you got to,
- 18:32yeah, you got to clarify when you say you get rear-ended
- 18:34because, I mean, that happened to the post office all the time.
- 18:38Yeah, now that was me coming back from a trip.
- 18:41OK, sorry, it must be the Crown Royal it.
- 18:46Is speaking Speaking of car accidents, Josh, you had a one
- 18:51to talk about yourself, didn't you?
- 18:53Yes, I'd like to take a privilege.
- 18:56A friend of mine, a fellow carrier, was driving to work
- 19:03yesterday and she was rear-ended at 30 to 35 mph and she she's
- 19:11OK. She had to go to the hospital
- 19:15for MRICTS of her back, neck and her head.
- 19:22I spoke to her today and what do you think management was doing
- 19:27while she was in the hospital? No prizes.
- 19:30Forget. Yep, so that we goof on
- 19:38management for being idiots. But this is serious.
- 19:40Y'all wear that seat belt. Don't do what you do in the
- 19:44Metris. What I've heard about where you
- 19:47click it in and you're sitting ahead of it because quote, it
- 19:50makes me faster on the street. I don't want you becoming a part
- 19:57of the windshield or part of the dash if you get rear-ended.
- 20:03We have a dangerous enough job as it is.
- 20:06And I understand they can check us with the telematics on the
- 20:10mattresses and the promasters for our city brothers and
- 20:15sisters, but we need to be wearing that seat belt only in
- 20:20limited circumstances, can you not?
- 20:24Be fully buckled in. And even then, that's in an LLV
- 20:27where you could disconnect the shoulder belt from the lap belt.
- 20:31I mean, I understand that for some of the folks that are
- 20:35shorter, especially, that seat belt will dig in.
- 20:39Well, it's better than a seat belt dig in.
- 20:42Then you hurt yourself or God forbid, worse, and then we have
- 20:47another carrier fatality in the line of duty.
- 20:53Well, let let me let me kick in here with I, I want to
- 20:56congratulate James for standing up to his management team there
- 21:02in regards to his direct order. And this is what happens.
- 21:06He stood up and guess what? The bully backed off.
- 21:10That's an important lesson for everybody listening to learn.
- 21:14When you stand up to a bully, they usually back off,
- 21:18especially when they know they're wrong.
- 21:20But again, you know, in talking about the LL VS and everything,
- 21:25I can recall the safety inspectors catching us out of
- 21:30Westchester. We're not wearing our shoulder
- 21:31harness and there is a 500 foot rule in regards to the the
- 21:36shoulder strap. And the fact of the matter is if
- 21:40they didn't allow us to do that, why would they design the seat
- 21:44belt like that in the 1st place? And the safety inspector was
- 21:48dumbfounded because he didn't have an answer.
- 21:52Of course I turned around, being the asshole that I am.
- 21:55And I says, and why are you out here?
- 21:59You know, you're, you're right. Don't sit on the seat belt.
- 22:02Make sure it's around your lap. Short, fat, old, ugly, whatever
- 22:07seat belt grabbing your waist and preventing you from going to
- 22:10the windshield is a lot better than the phone call that'll be
- 22:14made to your family. I always tell you that you're
- 22:17the most important delivery of the day.
- 22:19Get home to your loved ones and this is a re edification of that
- 22:23message. Wear the damn seat belt.
- 22:26It's not worth the extra 3 to 6 seconds to take it off and put
- 22:31it back on. Back to you, James.
- 22:38I completely agree with you guys.
- 22:40You know, we, we don't, we don't want to sound like management
- 22:44where we're just chastising carriers for now wearing your
- 22:47seat belt. We know mistakes happen.
- 22:50We're human. Humans make mistakes.
- 22:53That's how most of them get into management.
- 22:55But we have to make sure we are taking care of ourselves because
- 23:02there is nobody else out there actively looking out for us than
- 23:07ourselves. Safety needs to be first,
- 23:11second, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 78910 all the way down the line.
- 23:16It should always be safety on your mind.
- 23:20And I say micro said it best safety third.
- 23:25If it's first, you forget about it.
- 23:26If it's second, you forget about it.
- 23:28But that third one you always remember safety third.
- 23:34And if you guys don't know what I'm talking about, look up Mike
- 23:37Rose safety third on YouTube, because your safety is only your
- 23:43responsibility. Management can preach safety
- 23:46till the cows come home. The only reason they're doing
- 23:49that is for legal liability. They could say, oh, I talked to
- 23:53that carrier about that. So I'm absolved of any risk on
- 23:56this, but it's 100% you all. It is now that we've talked a
- 24:08little bit like management and push probably push some people's
- 24:11off of this podcast. Now we're going to get in the
- 24:16meat potatoes of this episode. The appalling number of people
- 24:22that responded to our tentative agreement.
- 24:28The city carriers had an enormous turn out of votes for
- 24:33their tentative agreement. Now I understand people didn't
- 24:36get their ballots in time to get it back to to the PO Box by the
- 24:4213th at noon. And some people sent their
- 24:47ballots out. They got returned to them.
- 24:49Some people never got their ballots, but they have that low
- 24:54of a voter turn out When the city carrier showed us that they
- 24:59can get a no vote and push it through even though later on
- 25:04they got screwed over by their president shows that
- 25:09participation is important and that's why we have Corey here.
- 25:13Corey, I want you to tell us what is the one thing that city
- 25:19carriers do the best compared to rural carriers when it comes to
- 25:23union participation? I would say that the thing that
- 25:26we had going for us, unlike contracts in the past is social
- 25:31media. You know, we were all over
- 25:33social media Zooms, we were all over that.
- 25:37We were doing them all over the place.
- 25:39Different organization. I don't know if you'd ever build
- 25:42a fighting NLC, but they were constantly on Zooms.
- 25:46We were doing them here. So podcast, we had several, but
- 25:51we were just all over. It's about education, letting
- 25:53the carriers know that, hey, what they're proposing you at
- 25:58the end of the day, what are you worth?
- 26:01And so if you're worth the 1.3%, then you vote for that.
- 26:05And we were trying to tell people we're we're worth much
- 26:08more than that as a carrier craft, as a real carrier craft,
- 26:13we're worth much more than that. And so that was kind of the
- 26:16messages that, hey, if you're going to say that 1.3 is what
- 26:22we've always gotten, that's what you will always get.
- 26:27At some point, you have to bust through that.
- 26:29And that's kind of the message we were kind of relaying to the
- 26:32city letter carriers that at some point you're going to have
- 26:36to say, that's not, that's not what we're worth.
- 26:39You constantly said that, you know, they have us in the soup
- 26:42line. At some point we had to step out
- 26:45of the line and say, hey, we want steak.
- 26:48And that's what that's what we were saying.
- 26:50But it was social media. We were everywhere.
- 26:53Every week we were doing something.
- 26:56It seemed like I was on a Zoom call all the time.
- 26:59And it's about education. You got to educate the work room
- 27:02floor. Now the business agents
- 27:05unfortunately were for the TA, the majority of them they they
- 27:10were for obviously the, the establishment.
- 27:13And that's what you'll be going against the establishment.
- 27:16I know that y'all have a group that are trying to bust through
- 27:19that and saying hey, we can have so much better at least fight
- 27:23for us. And that's kind of our message.
- 27:26We want somebody to fight. And so is the city letter
- 27:29carrier who took up that flag and said you know what, we'll do
- 27:32it for ourselves. We'll fight.
- 27:33And that's where you saw the results of the TA was.
- 27:36It was a resounding, we're not going to stand in that line any
- 27:40longer. We're going to fight for steak.
- 27:42And that's what the city letter carrier said.
- 27:44Now, like you said, we voted it down, but our president still
- 27:47pushed it through on us through that arbitration is, if you want
- 27:51to call it that, that stipulated award on that mediation.
- 27:54He still got what he wanted, but I'd say that was what it was.
- 27:58It's just social media. It's it's unlike anything that
- 28:01we've had in the past. You have a podcast now that you
- 28:06didn't have in the past Zooms that basically those all started
- 28:12during COVID, the the popularity of Zoom.
- 28:15And so, yeah, I would say that it was social media is what
- 28:19changed it. Now we just don't, we don't have
- 28:25the participation in our local meetings, our state meeting,
- 28:30heck even in our national meetings and things like that,
- 28:34like is, yeah, do do your business agents go to these
- 28:38offices and talk with carriers and things like that?
- 28:40Do they actually actively recruit these carriers to be
- 28:44involved? Very little, very little.
- 28:47And that's that's the reason you're saying kind of this
- 28:52movement that people are talking about anywhere you go.
- 28:55I know when we're in Cleveland, you're having people driving a
- 28:57couple hours away, you know, to come see us saying it's a
- 29:01phenomenon what's happening with the city letter care craft.
- 29:06And I agree with that. It's a, it's a movement and it's
- 29:09because the city letter care has decided that our agent, the NALC
- 29:14has failed US, kind of like y'all's agent has failed y'all.
- 29:18And so we took it upon ourselves.
- 29:20You're not going to see business agents going out and recruiting
- 29:24anybody because they understand the movement.
- 29:28They're pro renfro and that's going to get them removed from
- 29:31their positions as well. Anybody in the establishment is
- 29:34going to be removed from their position next year.
- 29:37And so, yeah, it's business agents are lazy.
- 29:42You got branch presidents that support business agents.
- 29:46They're lazy. And it's just, you know it.
- 29:49It's long overdue for the city letter carrier to take back over
- 29:53this crap, but that's what we'll do next year.
- 29:57It, it sounds comparable with the NRLCA in regards to our NSS
- 30:03as well as, you know, some of our state officers, you know
- 30:07that they toe the line and, and they turn around.
- 30:12Every time I hear this, it just makes me gag.
- 30:14Is that, well, we want to mirror what the national office is
- 30:17doing. Why you have your own
- 30:20independent voice. Speak it, say it.
- 30:25You know you're not tied into them and let's just try.
- 30:30Yeah, the last thing I want to do is mirror my National.
- 30:33They're they're pathetic. And so I want somebody fighting
- 30:37for me. I don't want you to mirror them.
- 30:39That's the reason we're in trouble.
- 30:41It's because of National. My parents, you know, are both
- 30:44retired rural carriers. And I remember my dad year, this
- 30:49is in the late 80s, I was a rural carrier in Franklin.
- 30:53And that's the same station he was in.
- 30:56And I remember the postmaster's name is Alec Bond was his name.
- 30:59But anyway, my dad was begging their union to join the NALC and
- 31:08he's saying our union is failing us.
- 31:10You know, we've got to join a bigger union, get better.
- 31:14Now, I wouldn't encourage y'all to do that because we're, we're,
- 31:18we're terrible and we have just poor leadership, man.
- 31:21And until we get this thing turned around, man, I wouldn't
- 31:25tell us to recruit anybody. But yeah I would love at some
- 31:28point, I don't know how y'all feel about that, but us to
- 31:31combine with the Royal carriers union and make it 1 big union
- 31:35and and get this thing right but probably never have a fault.
- 31:41Corey when, when when your contract came out, the TA came
- 31:45out, I was out on the lawn across from RSD and C with a
- 31:49sign yo city carriers vote no. You deserve better.
- 31:54And you know, these guys are going by beeping and everything
- 31:57and they, they tried to get a message to me that I wasn't
- 32:00allowed to be there. And I sent a text message back
- 32:03to the carrier saying tell them I'm not on postal property
- 32:06because I was across the street. But.
- 32:09The the, the, the fact of the matter is that when you know
- 32:11your, your national president puts in writing that we want
- 32:17substantial wage increases. We want to eliminate Table 2.
- 32:22And then then after two years, almost two years of, of
- 32:26negotiating, it gets voted down. It comes back, goes the, you
- 32:32know, to the arbitrator and after two years of negotiating,
- 32:36the arbitrator settles in 48 hours.
- 32:40How much do consideration do you think he gave that?
- 32:44Yeah, it was. It was stipulated.
- 32:47If you know anything about arbitration, that was a
- 32:50stipulated warning. Basically the arbitrator wrote
- 32:52in, in his opinion. We talked in numerous episodes
- 32:55about the arbitrator's decision, what he wrote, and he was kind
- 32:59of snitching on both parties in his writing because he said in
- 33:04the two days of mediation, which means it never made it to
- 33:07arbitration. Mediation and arbitration are
- 33:09two different things. And so, yeah.
- 33:12And so when he wrote that, and I don't know if y'all heard, but
- 33:16they had kind of ACLP committee of presidents and that's where
- 33:21all the presidents can go and and kind of a rap session.
- 33:25And somebody challenged Renfro on that, talking about
- 33:28mediation, and he said the arbitrator lied in the decision.
- 33:31So that shows you that just how fucked up my president is, is to
- 33:38dude has no ethics, no morals. He's completely pathetic.
- 33:44And so, yeah, we're in trouble with this cat.
- 33:47But yeah, you're exactly right. 700 days you're going to sit
- 33:52there, make all these promises, substantial starting wage
- 33:57increases for Ccas. If he would have done that, he
- 34:01probably would have been in OK shape just with that because our
- 34:04Ccas are crapped on, you know, they make, they make less than
- 34:08fast food workers make and he promised them that.
- 34:13Then he says, you know, we're going to have an all career
- 34:15workforce or it's a non starter. He made those promises.
- 34:19This is going to be historic. He was making those promises.
- 34:22So he kind of had that carrot out in front of us, leaving us
- 34:25alone and we kind of blindly followed.
- 34:27And then they hit us with it. And you realize now this Ambit's
- 34:31been lying this entire time. None of these things happened
- 34:35for 700 days. You did this.
- 34:36Like you say, you go to this mediation and in two days the
- 34:41arbitrator allegedly gets all this information, all this data,
- 34:44all these positions and it's on a weekend and then he comes out
- 34:48with this decision. So yeah, we got screwed over by
- 34:51our own party. But yeah, that's that's the
- 34:55reason he's going to lose and he'll be either go back to
- 34:58deliver mail or going to management either 1 so.
- 35:03Yeah, that's what we call a quinky dink.
- 35:07Yeah. I I have to correct you though,
- 35:10Bill Renfro's was historic whereas Mastin's was
- 35:15significant. Well, the Renfro promised yes,
- 35:20substantial wage too. Yeah, substantial wage increases
- 35:24for my CCA's. They got less than a dollar, so
- 35:27they weren't even worth a cup of coffee at McDonald's, is what
- 35:30you told them. For all that they do and they
- 35:32get, you know, I started back in the early 90s as a city letter
- 35:36carrier. And if any of y'all remember,
- 35:39back then it was just all mail. We had no packages we could
- 35:43deliver out of Jeeps. Remember that you could just,
- 35:45you could take. Yeah, you could put 10 trays of
- 35:49flats in those Jeep. Hit three up front, you'd get 3
- 35:54in the bottom, then one on each side and then stack two in the
- 35:57middle. Remember how you used to
- 35:58maneuver all those flats? Well, now we don't have any
- 36:01flats, but we get all parcels. You can never deliver out of a
- 36:05Jeep today. And so, yeah, that that was the
- 36:11difference back then. And, and so Ccas today have it
- 36:18much worse than we did. Even though you have GPS back
- 36:21then, you remember you used to have to write on a piece of
- 36:23paper or they had your little route maps or whatever.
- 36:26But they just come, they get the mail, two hampers of parcels.
- 36:31And you know, good luck. And it's shitty for them today
- 36:35and yeah, I feel for him, but to have that guy promised them all
- 36:40these things because you're thinking if you can at least get
- 36:43up to where the clerks or they're starting wages, OK, we
- 36:47can, we can deal with that. We can talk about that.
- 36:49Bump them up about 5-6 dollars an hour.
- 36:52And yeah, that's a good start. We'll hang in there.
- 36:55You gave him less than a dollar, and you know that was trifling.
- 37:01You actually got left in the quarter.
- 37:04Well, the CCA 3%, yeah, with the CCAS, I think they're starting
- 37:09wage has increased 90 something cents, that's what it was.
- 37:15Yeah. Could be wrong.
- 37:16I know it's yeah, I know it's left in the dollar.
- 37:19The the 1.3% at their, their previous was, you know, left in
- 37:23the quarter. Yeah, yeah, we all got the 1.3.
- 37:28That was that was the story. It was the same thing.
- 37:31And like I said, a lot of people coming out defending that shit.
- 37:35We're saying, hey, this is what we've always gotten.
- 37:37Then you will always get it. Yep, Yep.
- 37:40Why? Why go to arbitrary?
- 37:41Why do anything just have a standing 1.3?
- 37:46We don't have to worry about any of this shit.
- 37:48We don't have to worry about 700 days of getting fucked over.
- 37:52Just say it's going to be a 1.3% and let it be that.
- 37:55If that's what we've always gotten and you don't want to
- 37:57fight for anything more than that, just say hey, from now on,
- 38:00every year we'll get 1.3 and we'll solve a lot of a lot of
- 38:05heartache. But at some point the city
- 38:08letter carriers, the rural carriers are going to have to
- 38:11stand the fuck up and say, hey, we've had enough of it.
- 38:14We deserve more than that. Look at what we're doing.
- 38:16Y'all were talking earlier about the people that are dying on the
- 38:18streets. Nobody else has to deal with
- 38:20what we deal with. You don't see a clerk dropping
- 38:23dead in the office from the heat.
- 38:25You they don't have to worry about hydrating.
- 38:28They don't have to worry about scanner messages.
- 38:31They don't have to worry about any of these things with the
- 38:33rule carrier, city letter carriers.
- 38:34We deal with it every single day.
- 38:36Every day we're putting our life on the line for something.
- 38:39Arrow keys, whatever. Nobody else has to do with that.
- 38:43Yeah, dogs. Exactly.
- 38:45Hell, we got dog bite awareness time, You know, for us.
- 38:49Y'all do the same but at some point both crafts are going to
- 38:54have to stand the fuck up and say enough is enough.
- 38:57Now the city letter carriers did it this time.
- 38:59You're going to have to get your shit together and do it.
- 39:02You know 14,000 people. That's an embarrassment.
- 39:06That's an that's that's disinterest is what that is.
- 39:10That's disinterest in your craft.
- 39:13Distant interest in your home life.
- 39:15If you're going to say that I'm not even going to vote for a
- 39:18better livelihood, come on now. Shit, what are we doing as a
- 39:24rule carrier craft? What are you doing?
- 39:27If you got 14,000 people going to come in here and say whatever
- 39:31y'all want to do to us, do it. You got how many y'all have in
- 39:34y'all's craft 150A? 130. 132 last Yeah a. 132 you
- 39:42had 14,000 say I give a damn, that's what you had 14,000 of
- 39:48all those said I give a damn about my and and it got voted in
- 39:51right. Yes it did, and yes it.
- 39:55So you had 14,000 vote that said however many voted saying I want
- 40:00to continue to be in the soup line.
- 40:03That's what y'all had. I want to continue to eat soup.
- 40:0767%. 67% said keep feeding me soup, I'm fine with it. 67%
- 40:15that's fucking pitiful. And then all the others that
- 40:17don't even give a damn. Like you said, don't bitch about
- 40:21it. Now you had your opportunity to
- 40:23stand up and say we want steak, we want better.
- 40:27You had an opportunity to do that.
- 40:29You chose to sit to fight out. Well, if you chose to sit it
- 40:32out, don't stand up. Now I want to fight somebody.
- 40:35You had the opportunity. You chose to sit down.
- 40:38Anybody who sits down needs to stay sitting because y'all
- 40:41didn't want to stand up when the time was right.
- 40:43And so, yeah, the city letter carriers on this one stood the
- 40:47fuck up. And we said, hey, that's not
- 40:49going to be enough. Our president, unfortunately,
- 40:52said, yeah, it is. His ass will be gone.
- 40:54That's the cost of that for him. It will cost him his job and
- 40:58he'll be gone. And so yeah, y'all are going to
- 41:01have to get to somebody beating the drums for y'all and tell
- 41:05y'all's craft stand up. We've been trying your brain.
- 41:10Corey. Sorry, James, go ahead.
- 41:14Be careful. I want to know what some of the
- 41:21strategies would be to get people that have and I've heard
- 41:24this said by carriers. Oh, I've heard about y'all's
- 41:27union. You're that union.
- 41:29How would you suggest get through the apathy, the bad
- 41:34feelings? What's?
- 41:36An extract to get. People over.
- 41:39That is tough because like I said, back in the the late 80s,
- 41:44my dad was bitching about it. It's that long.
- 41:48Y'all have been the laughingstock of the unions.
- 41:50Now we are that. Now the NALC.
- 41:52Is that because we're incompetent at best?
- 41:56Y'all just stayed the same. You know, y'all's leadership has
- 42:01forgotten their way and definitely forgot where they
- 42:04come from. But it's about getting on the
- 42:08workroom floor, whether a city letter care is engaging y'all or
- 42:14everybody engaging each other and saying enough is enough with
- 42:18this. But somebody's got to get
- 42:21y'all's interest piqued. Somebody's got to do it.
- 42:24Whether it's new leadership. I know y'all got people running
- 42:27for president against the glad y'all got now.
- 42:31You know, at some point somebody's got to be that
- 42:34champion, my champion captain, my captain, Somebody's got to be
- 42:38that for y'all and got to get that word out and say, hey,
- 42:42there is hope, there is hope. Look, Corey, let let me let me
- 42:47correct you there. It's not that our leadership
- 42:50forgot where they came from. They just don't want to go back
- 42:54to where they came from. That's the problem, and it seems
- 42:58to. Me like if they didn't want to
- 42:59go back that they'd be fighting for y'all because the first way
- 43:01back is not fighting. Yeah.
- 43:05And then you then you have the National Steward system, which
- 43:07is the centralized Gestapo for the national board.
- 43:12And there again you have created an entity that is off their
- 43:16routes and they don't go back their routes and they don't want
- 43:19to go back their routes. But we in the last couple years
- 43:22have had a turnover with DRS and ADRS who are either part time or
- 43:26full time get removed because of the fact that executive
- 43:31committee people caught them not doing their jobs.
- 43:34Not that the National Board itself.
- 43:37Now the the the problem with and and this this I hold dear to my
- 43:41heart. The problem with the apathy in
- 43:44the rule carrier raft is the fact that we have an evaluated
- 43:48system where everybody is out for themselves.
- 43:52If John Blow gets his route, his eight hour route done in 5 1/2
- 43:57hours, he hits, shits, gets and goes home.
- 44:01He doesn't care about anybody else because he's getting paid
- 44:03for his whole evaluation. And then, then, then you got the
- 44:07people who are overburdened or struggling and they're the ones
- 44:11who are considered, you know, lingerers mount mount
- 44:15malcontents because of the fact that they, they can't do the
- 44:18route. Well, you know, when your route
- 44:20is evaluated at 67 hours and you're paid for 57.36, guess
- 44:25what? You're going to be over
- 44:26evaluation once in a while. But it, it, it all goes back to
- 44:32each, each route is individual to itself.
- 44:35Each individual is unto themselves.
- 44:37And they really don't give a shit about the union as a whole.
- 44:42They don't understand that the concept of being in a union is
- 44:46for everybody. Like, like I've said, if they go
- 44:50after a non union member for an infraction, they're going to
- 44:53come after a union member. If they get away with it.
- 44:57Yeah, they will come after everybody when they get away
- 45:00with it, because now they see a weakness, a chink in the armor.
- 45:05Somebody says you can't fight every fight, you better step up
- 45:08and fight every fight because of soon as you back down they've
- 45:11got you by the balls. Yeah, yeah.
- 45:15And I say all the time, you got to love each other.
- 45:20And I anytime I do a stand up at my station and I talk to my
- 45:24carriers, I say the reason that management can't come in here
- 45:29and fuck with y'all is because y'all legitimate love each
- 45:32other. And if you love each other,
- 45:34you're going to fight for each other.
- 45:36You're going to do whatever it takes to win if you love each
- 45:39other. And that's what I tell my people
- 45:40on the podcast, Love each. At the end of the day, love each
- 45:43other. Everything else will work out.
- 45:46I know that sounds cliche. Everything else will work out if
- 45:49you just love each other. Because when you do, you will do
- 45:53whatever it takes to protect each other.
- 45:55We have the establishment. Y'all have it, we have it.
- 45:59They don't love the craft, they love their money.
- 46:03And so that's the reason we're in the shape we're in now.
- 46:06It's because of that. You've got to get an
- 46:08establishment, you got to get people in place that actually
- 46:11love the craft, love the city letter care, love the rule
- 46:15letter care, and those things that will start just like I
- 46:20talked about the tentacles, when you talk about cowardice, we
- 46:22have cowardice in our leadership and those tentacles reach down
- 46:26to the business agents, to the state presidents, branch
- 46:29presidents, and that cowardice will overrun your craft and the
- 46:35leadership love will do the same.
- 46:39If you love us, you get people in place that love the city
- 46:42letter care. You get people in place that
- 46:44love the rule letter carriers. Those tentacles will also reach
- 46:47down. And when you get that on the
- 46:49working floor, you start protecting each other.
- 46:52Rather than ridiculing each other, targeting each other,
- 46:54singling each other out, you'll start loving each other,
- 46:58protecting each other. So when they try to, you know,
- 47:01separate and conquer those few, everybody else comes in and say,
- 47:05hang on, that's my family. Hang on just a second.
- 47:08That's my people. Hey, you know, that's what we've
- 47:11got to get back to. And that's what the city letter
- 47:14care is starting to come around to is when you saw that vote for
- 47:17the TA, that's love. That's the message that you keep
- 47:21sending out to your people. Love each other, protect each
- 47:24other. That's what that was.
- 47:26That was people going against the establishment.
- 47:28They're saying, hey, enough is enough.
- 47:31You know, we've got to love each other.
- 47:32That's what the rule letter carriers have got to do.
- 47:34The rule carriers have got to say we, we're going to work on
- 47:38love. I know that sounds silly, but
- 47:42you got to love each other. If you want to do whatever goals
- 47:45y'all have, it starts with that. It starts with love.
- 47:49And I will say that all over the day, everywhere I go.
- 47:53Love you, love each other, you educate each other.
- 47:57Everything else will fall into place.
- 47:59Y'all's issues now are y'all for too long have loved yourselves.
- 48:04When you talk about evaluated routes.
- 48:07Hell, I'm getting out of here, getting back at noon, Gone.
- 48:09I'm gone. And you know everybody else can
- 48:12go to hell. You know everybody else to be
- 48:13damned. I'm going to take care of mine
- 48:16and I'm out. But that's not a union.
- 48:18That's the exact opposite of that, the exact opposite of
- 48:23union. Is that me, myself.
- 48:26If I think about me and myself, I'll be all right.
- 48:29That's not how we do 1 Aggrieved, we're all aggrieved,
- 48:321 harmed, we're all harmed. That's the true meaning of
- 48:35union. And when you get that down,
- 48:37that's what the city letter carriers have found, is that 11
- 48:41harmed. We're all all harmed.
- 48:43I don't give a damn if it's in California.
- 48:46If they're doing something to them, the people in Florida
- 48:49better be fucking raising hell about it.
- 48:52And that's where we're at right now as the city letter care.
- 48:54When we're talking about this movement, when we're talking
- 48:57about this phenomenon that's going on right now with the city
- 48:59letter care, craft it. All it is is love.
- 49:02As simple as that. All it is, is love.
- 49:06The letter carriers have stood up.
- 49:08They said we're going to protect ourselves.
- 49:10We're going to do this ourselves because we love each other.
- 49:13Our union, our agent has failed US time and time again.
- 49:18We will take over this union next year, but until then, we'll
- 49:21educate each other. You see it on social media,
- 49:23especially with this heat. They're out helping each other
- 49:26during this process, different things like that, trying to help
- 49:30each other with grievances and and things.
- 49:31And so, yeah, that's where the rule letter carriers have got to
- 49:35get. The rule carriers have got to
- 49:37say above all else, evaluated routes or not, we've got to love
- 49:43each other. And and when you do that, y'all
- 49:46get the right people in place at National, y'all get the right
- 49:51the right people in place that are going to fight for better
- 49:53wages, win or lose, win or lose all.
- 49:57And I don't know how you are, but as see there carries.
- 49:59All I want to see is you fight from me.
- 50:02We will lose that. That's going to happen.
- 50:05We will lose. Did you fight?
- 50:07If you fought, I got you. I got you.
- 50:09We will ride wherever if if you fight for me, if you don't,
- 50:14that's where we are right now with our leadership, Renfro and
- 50:16Barner. If you don't, we're going to
- 50:18vote your sorry ass out and we will put people in place that
- 50:21will fight for us. We will not always win.
- 50:25You're going to go forward in your contract and say hey, this
- 50:28is what we deserve. This is what we are due.
- 50:33Arbitrator, give it to us or not.
- 50:35If I know that you win in front of an arbitrator and said, look,
- 50:38this 1.3, no, Sir, This is why we're different.
- 50:43This is what we do differently. We don't sit on a stool and and
- 50:47stick letters in a in a case. We don't throw parcels, we don't
- 50:53hand out mail. This is what we do different.
- 50:57And This is why we deserve substantially more than the
- 50:59others. And my son is a clerk.
- 51:01So I mean, you know, I want the best for him.
- 51:04But do we do the same? Absolutely not, Absolutely not.
- 51:09So you got to get people in place.
- 51:11I know I've gone off on a rabbit trap hill, but you got to get
- 51:13people in place that understand your value.
- 51:19What are we worth as a crap? What is the rule carrier worth
- 51:21as a as a craft Fight for that. When you go in there and they
- 51:26say, well, you know, past 10 Contra y'all got 1.3%.
- 51:30Does that sound good to y'all? Hell yeah, we'll take it.
- 51:33That's what you'll get until y'all go in and say here's the
- 51:36books, here's the data, here's the figures, the numbers, here's
- 51:42what y'all lost money because you're very incompetence.
- 51:45Here's where y'all have one supervisor for every 10
- 51:48carriers, unlike back in the day where there's one per every 20.
- 51:51You got too much fat. And this is what we'd be taking
- 51:54it from an arbitrator because we deserve so much better, but we
- 51:58deserve more pay than supervisors and managers.
- 52:00They don't do near what they did.
- 52:01If you put something in front of an arbitrary, and this is what
- 52:04supervisors did just 10 years ago and look at the difference
- 52:08of what they do now, we need less of them than we had in the
- 52:11past. We got two times more.
- 52:14But yeah, what was the question? Let him roll, let him roll.
- 52:21Let him roll. Was that?
- 52:22Hey, let me ask a question again.
- 52:24I'll get I'll answer it. Hurry, you, you hit the nail on
- 52:28the head. I say at every podcast at the
- 52:31end that we are all in this together.
- 52:34And what is the most important part of all of this is that
- 52:38these rural carriers need to understand that we are all in
- 52:42this together and we are alone in this.
- 52:45As rural carriers, we have to fight for ourselves and we have
- 52:50to fight for this crap, and we have to fight against somebody
- 52:57who thinks rural carriers have had it too good for too long.
- 53:01And rural carriers who lost 56% of rural carriers lost money on
- 53:07the first REC evaluation. And his response to that was
- 53:11rural carriers are finally getting paid rightfully for the
- 53:15work that they do. That doesn't sound like a man
- 53:19fighting for this crap. That sounds like somebody
- 53:22fighting for management. That's management.
- 53:25If you look at our, I'm sorry to interrupt you, but if you look
- 53:28at the arbitrator's decision, the one that Nolan sent out,
- 53:34look at management's position. That's exactly what you just
- 53:38said, almost verbatim. Almost verbatim what you just
- 53:42said is what, what your, your person just said.
- 53:46That's what management said. NRTA when when the arbitrator
- 53:50came out with this decision, he said here's Labour's position,
- 53:54the services position, here's the union's position, Read Read
- 53:58Labour's position, the services position.
- 54:01That's what your president just said.
- 54:03Yeah, didn't, didn't Teleno almost word for word with
- 54:06Matson. That's almost identical.
- 54:09Swear to God, if you go look at it, it's it's saying that
- 54:12they're getting what they are do.
- 54:15Well, not just that, on the on the news, on the usps.com
- 54:19website, Teleno said the exact same wordage that was said in
- 54:23the Nolan Award, that was said by our our current president.
- 54:27He said the same thing in in the news broadcast of the world
- 54:32contract ratification. It's crazy to think that these
- 54:39three people, Renfro, Mastin, and Teleno are all saying the
- 54:44same exact things. It's almost as if they wrote the
- 54:47script together. Yeah, well, hey, I think they're
- 54:52all in it together, somebody getting a kickback.
- 54:55It's got that. They're not that incompetent.
- 54:58They're not. You look at you look across this
- 55:01country at the contract coming in for these other companies,
- 55:07landmark decisions. I mean, they're get these
- 55:09contracts are absurd and good for them.
- 55:11I wish they'd get $1000 an hour. I don't care if the companies
- 55:15can support it, get it. And then you look at us, it's
- 55:18the exact opposite, complete sellouts.
- 55:24Well, Corey, let let me interrupt you, Corey, because
- 55:28we're in United States Postal Service.
- 55:30We're not a for profit account corporation answering to
- 55:34stockholders and the board and the CEO ADA, yadda, yadda,
- 55:38yadda. We do more than they do.
- 55:42I mean, you know, go, go back to 2018 when Amazon really started
- 55:47to kick us in the ass. And then we go through all of
- 55:50COVID now, the city carriers, they got paid by the hour.
- 55:54The rule carriers were working over their evaluation almost
- 55:59every day of the fucking week. And you know what we got for
- 56:03overtime? Jack shit.
- 56:08And and then, and then they call us essential workers, but we
- 56:12weren't entitled to essential work pay.
- 56:15Yeah, yeah, my, my son's a paramedic and got $18,000.
- 56:20Yeah. What kind of hazard, what kind
- 56:23of hazard did the royal carriers get during that time exactly?
- 56:26Well, I got, I got twice, twice as much as James did so.
- 56:31Oh really? That's good, I got probably 4
- 56:36times what y'all did. Table 2 versus Table one on the
- 56:40Royal Craft right there, what Bill just said.
- 56:44Because 4 * a zero is 0. But yeah, it's and all of that
- 56:52when you look at the COVID and, and just the sheer slap in the
- 56:57face on the tape. No recognition, no recognition
- 57:02from anybody. You know, I've had my president
- 57:04go in front of Congress talking about shit.
- 57:05No recognition whatsoever, no plea.
- 57:09If I'm if I'm a president, I'm pleading compensate on
- 57:13something. Y'all want to y'all want to send
- 57:16out all these kits with my people who are in the Direct
- 57:19Line of it. I mean, the front line is the
- 57:23city. Let nobody else is as frontline
- 57:25as we are. You got doctors and then they
- 57:28get the cases that come in. We're out there going door to
- 57:31door every single day, door to door.
- 57:34And you know, so we're on the front line of it.
- 57:37We are the front of the front line and delivering these packs,
- 57:41these COVID kits and all these things.
- 57:44Never missing a day. Management still trying to
- 57:47discipline us if we get sick when they told us stay sick if
- 57:51you're, if you're sick, stay home.
- 57:53Still trying to discipline us during that period of time for
- 57:57'cause you know, when it came out, remember nobody knew what
- 58:00was going on. We were scared to death.
- 58:02Nobody had a clue what what is COVID?
- 58:04It's killing people. You see all this stuff in the
- 58:07media and so we're terrified. Still coming to work, still
- 58:11going out there, still putting ourselves at risk even though
- 58:14nobody can tell us what this is. And what kind of appreciation
- 58:18did we get? Nothing.
- 58:19Not a damn cent. Not even recognition you.
- 58:23You may have had some people come out.
- 58:25We appreciate y'all for your service.
- 58:26Well, we appreciate that. Thank you.
- 58:29Y'all Remember when UPS went on strike in the nine years ago,
- 58:34years and years ago? And FedEx, what'd they give
- 58:38them, 3%, a little, 3% bump, a little check for 3% during that
- 58:43period of time. Y'all remember that?
- 58:47I do. I'm old enough though.
- 58:48Yeah, yeah. UPS goes on, UPS goes on strike.
- 58:53And we were hammered because remember, we didn't have
- 58:56packages back then. So we're getting 100 times the
- 58:59packages we get because we didn't get packages.
- 59:02So we're getting all of UPS stuff, we're delivering that.
- 59:06FedEx is picking up the, you know, slack as well.
- 59:10And if I'm not mistaken, I'd have to look at it, I think that
- 59:15they gave them 3% of their salary.
- 59:17They gave them as a bonus. Do y'all remember what we got?
- 59:21A pack of lifesavers. Swear to God, they came around
- 59:25to our station and went to each city letter care and they gave
- 59:29us a roll of lifesavers and told us you are lifesavers.
- 59:35Y'all have saved the Postal Service from getting all this
- 59:38extra revenue. We, we received all this extra
- 59:42billions because of y'all. Here's your lifesaver.
- 59:45And so look at COVID. They will show you what you're
- 59:49worth. They will show you how much they
- 59:51appreciate you in times of crisis.
- 59:54And so they all go to hell as far as I'm concerned.
- 59:58And you know, and you get this TA, no recognition whatsoever
- 1:00:01for the city letter carrier. Look at y'all, no recognition
- 1:00:04for the rural carriers. As far as anything.
- 1:00:07And so at some point the rule carriers are going to say enough
- 1:00:12is enough. I can go home at noon, true
- 1:00:14enough, enough is enough. My family deserves better
- 1:00:19because of me coming to work every day in harm's way.
- 1:00:22The shit that I do. My family deserves better.
- 1:00:25I deserve better. We deserve a better livelihood.
- 1:00:30Until y'all stand up, y'all just going to keep bitching and keep
- 1:00:34having podcasts. We are saying woe is me, your
- 1:00:37craft is going to have to stand the fuck up and say enough is
- 1:00:42enough, enough is enough. We're going to put leadership in
- 1:00:47place that fights for us. We don't have that.
- 1:00:51Y'all don't have it. We don't have it.
- 1:00:54Until y'all get it, then we can get on here and bitch all the
- 1:00:58time. But y'all got to start a
- 1:01:00movement. The city letter carriers did,
- 1:01:03and like I say, next year our agent will reap the whirlwind
- 1:01:09for what they've done to us. We will make them pay.
- 1:01:13Y'all got to do the same. So a question was asked in the
- 1:01:19in the chat. You know, previously it's been
- 1:01:22said that we they can't compare us specifically to specific
- 1:01:25companies. What is a company that you think
- 1:01:29an arbitrator would compare us to now because previously they
- 1:01:33said they couldn't compare us to UPS because we handled too much
- 1:01:36mail? No.
- 1:01:39If you look at the in 1970 Postal Reorganization Act, it
- 1:01:46says no such thing. There's no such clause.
- 1:01:48It says comparable work. And so who, who do we compare
- 1:01:52with? If I'm going in now, I'm going
- 1:01:54to say UPS makes this. We do more than UPS.
- 1:02:00Nobody can tell me different. They deliver packages for a day.
- 1:02:05You know, we're out there delivering mail packages in
- 1:02:07December. They get help.
- 1:02:11Y'all see them in their trucks. The people that you normally see
- 1:02:13every day, they got another person in there helping.
- 1:02:15We don't get that. We just get another footnass
- 1:02:18during December. And so that's what I'm going to
- 1:02:21go by is the Postal Reorganization Act.
- 1:02:25This is comparable work Who who compares to me?
- 1:02:29That's what I want. I read a federal court decision
- 1:02:36from a federal court judge. I had an arbitration up in
- 1:02:42Kingsport, TN and the arbitrator awarded a monetary award.
- 1:02:48It was over $207,000. And the Postal Service tried to
- 1:02:52vacate this decision. So they take it to court and
- 1:02:55they said the arbitrator overreached, you know, their
- 1:02:59boundary. They, they went outside the
- 1:03:00contract. They didn't have authority to,
- 1:03:02to grant that. And the arbitrator, and I mean,
- 1:03:05the, the judge, the federal judge wrote that Congress has
- 1:03:12basically treats the Postal Service like a private company.
- 1:03:17They're no different. And they've lost the right to
- 1:03:22say that they can't be sued. They can sue and be sued because
- 1:03:26Congress has has separated them from the federal government.
- 1:03:30And so there are things out there that we can say, look, we
- 1:03:34are run differently. We are federal government, true.
- 1:03:37We received no tax money, true. But there's so many things in
- 1:03:41place to say we deserve better and and we can get better.
- 1:03:47Congress has agreed with that. The Postal Reorganization Act
- 1:03:50has agreed with that. Our problem is, is you got
- 1:03:54massive fat in the Postal Service.
- 1:03:58It's federal. There's going to be fat.
- 1:04:01You got to find it. And our problem is we're on
- 1:04:05worst enemy. We have lazy negotiators.
- 1:04:10Mine wanted to call himself a skillful negotiator and he got
- 1:04:13fucked over for 700 days. And so, yeah, our issues are we
- 1:04:17have people that refuse to get in that fight, refuse to do the
- 1:04:21homework, the hard work, getting in those books.
- 1:04:25They refuse to do that. And as long as they refuse to do
- 1:04:28that, we'll get 1.3%. You cannot tell me that we do
- 1:04:36not deserve at least $5 more an hour.
- 1:04:40You can't tell me that. Can the Postal Service afford
- 1:04:42that? Absolutely.
- 1:04:45They make money hand over fist. And so the reason, you know,
- 1:04:51that they don't want those books is because I'm sure everybody
- 1:04:54dips into our purse. Congress, whoever, We got a lot
- 1:05:00of money going places that shouldn't be going.
- 1:05:03And you know, you just got to find it.
- 1:05:07You know you talked about USUPS and stuff.
- 1:05:10I actually have a friend who had a sub come do the shadow day
- 1:05:18before their Academy. They do orientation to their
- 1:05:21shadow day and quit the first day of Academy.
- 1:05:24That person came over from FedEx and said the job was too
- 1:05:30difficult compared to FedEx. So we already have proof that
- 1:05:34it's worth the FedEx. I've heard some people say UPS
- 1:05:37drivers have come over and quit because it was harder than UPS.
- 1:05:43Yeah, so you are right. We are.
- 1:05:45We are more worth more than FedEx.
- 1:05:48We are worth more than UPS. We're different.
- 1:05:51We have them. We have them leaving the Postal
- 1:05:53Service to go to UPS. Yeah.
- 1:05:56Yeah, he wasn't leaving us to get a leave.
- 1:05:59You don't see it the other way around.
- 1:06:01This is a hard ass job man. This is hard.
- 1:06:04They don't have to go in and listen to some dumb fool every
- 1:06:07morning where you're sticking mail.
- 1:06:09You know they go in there, have their trucks loaded and hit the
- 1:06:13fucking Rd. You know we have to done with
- 1:06:16complete idiocy when we go on to the work room floor.
- 1:06:20I mean complete damn buffoons and we got to deal with that
- 1:06:23every day. The the most incompetent
- 1:06:26workforce in the country is postal management.
- 1:06:30There is not a more incompetent workforce in this country than
- 1:06:35postal management. I'd put them up against anybody
- 1:06:38as being the worst and that's what we have to deal with.
- 1:06:43They're worse than that. Postal management's worse than
- 1:06:48that. I've never seen a more
- 1:06:50incompetent bunch of fools in my life than postal management.
- 1:06:57I I swear they do more and more reports than they do actual
- 1:07:02work. Yeah, they're worth about half
- 1:07:05what they get. Let's not forget the telecoms,
- 1:07:09James. Yeah, here we go.
- 1:07:13Rich got a 10/30 telecom. Oh well, can't miss that, can
- 1:07:18you? Yeah, everybody's got to be off
- 1:07:21the work room floor in an hour, so that way they can get on
- 1:07:24their telecoms and nobody on the work room floor can hear them.
- 1:07:28How about getting the How about getting the fucking mail to the
- 1:07:30carriers? How about that?
- 1:07:32How about getting the parcels done?
- 1:07:36Yeah. Oh yeah, there's a lot.
- 1:07:37There's a lot of things that can be done, you know, But they
- 1:07:43won't do them and the union won't fight for it.
- 1:07:47But there's a lot. You talking about heat.
- 1:07:49There's a lot of things to be done to help the city.
- 1:07:51Letter care, help, rule letter cares and the heat.
- 1:07:54Everybody wants to talk. We were talking about that
- 1:07:56earlier. Everybody wants to go in front
- 1:07:59of ocean talk, go in front of the Congress and talk.
- 1:08:02Everybody talks, Everybody's talking and we're out here
- 1:08:06dying. All that talk hasn't lowered the
- 1:08:08degree one time. Not once has it to grow.
- 1:08:12Lowered the degrees outside. All this talk.
- 1:08:15We're still dying on the streets and these motherfuckers have
- 1:08:18been talking for 30 years about the heat, about air conditioning
- 1:08:22and vehicles. All they do is talk.
- 1:08:25The only ones who suffer is the craft.
- 1:08:29You've not seen a union person fall out dead from the heat.
- 1:08:32You've not seen management. Well you had them last year and
- 1:08:35that raised hell because some full last district manager told
- 1:08:39a supervisor to go sit in the back of a vehicle and do a 3999
- 1:08:44ride in the in the summer. How stupid is that?
- 1:08:48You cannot use. I don't know how y'all are, but
- 1:08:50you can't use summer data against us.
- 1:08:52June, July and August you can't use it.
- 1:08:54Why would you put somebody in the back?
- 1:08:55One of those death traps and have them ride around and they
- 1:08:58died. Corey, I will say this, they can
- 1:09:02use the data against us and Bill and James chime in and they can
- 1:09:05call get us on 2080 or 2240 for taking too long.
- 1:09:11Really. So they can't use now they can,
- 1:09:14they can try to do that, but if you're doing a 3999, you're
- 1:09:17trying to do an evaluation, why would you do that?
- 1:09:20You can't use June, July and August against if I'm taking too
- 1:09:23long, if these individuals are taking too long.
- 1:09:25But these are blanket policies. Go out each week and do a 4584
- 1:09:30or a 3999 ride each week. Go out and do one.
- 1:09:33Why? Why are you doing that?
- 1:09:35To try to intimidate us and bully us.
- 1:09:36Now, look, one of y'all's is dead because you're a dumbass.
- 1:09:40And so, yeah, but all these people talking, all you have is
- 1:09:44talk. Everybody talks.
- 1:09:48All they do is talk. And we're dying while they're
- 1:09:52talking. At some point somebody's got a
- 1:09:55foot in somebody's ass and say that's all the talking we're
- 1:09:59doing. These are the mandates.
- 1:10:01We're going to tell our carriers when it gets to a certain
- 1:10:03threshold outside, come back, quit delivering, we will deal
- 1:10:09with that. I'd much rather put in an
- 1:10:12information request for your discipline than a phone call to
- 1:10:16get flowers for your family. I'd much rather do that.
- 1:10:21And that's where we're at. We've got people out there dying
- 1:10:27and everybody's talking. The union's going to have to
- 1:10:30say, here's what we're going to tell them.
- 1:10:33If it gets to a certain threshold, come back.
- 1:10:35Don't risk it. You got management now that
- 1:10:38won't even send out a last dispatch.
- 1:10:40It'll sit there all night. They'll tell carriers, hey, at
- 1:10:435:00, just bring the mail back. What for?
- 1:10:46I need to go home. That's happening.
- 1:10:49Oh God, oh oh baby, I just. Opened up a can of worms right
- 1:10:57there. Oh God, let him go.
- 1:11:01Go bail. Go my son.
- 1:11:03My son's got 4 O clock soccer. I got to go get them.
- 1:11:07Yeah, it's happening. Your son's not going to die on
- 1:11:11the soccer field unless the the coach is as bad as postal
- 1:11:14management. Shut the hell up.
- 1:11:17Oh shit. Yeah.
- 1:11:20And and you know what? It it, it's sad because this
- 1:11:24year they already had one supervisor that had to go to the
- 1:11:27hospital for heat prostration in the back of an LLV after having
- 1:11:31one dying, you know, last year. And I know a, a supervisor, you
- 1:11:36know, well, no, I see personally.
- 1:11:39And they were, they were requested to go out and do you
- 1:11:42know, a, a route audit and they said, Oh, no weapon way.
- 1:11:47So they wanted to, you know, to write the person up.
- 1:11:49But since they're the OIC and there's nobody else in the
- 1:11:52office to him, they, they kind of for go, go, go the, the
- 1:11:57discipline in that regards. But this person turned around
- 1:12:01and said, are you kidding me? I said, a carrier's coming back
- 1:12:04and, and it's got 114° on their phone inside the truck.
- 1:12:10Another carrier comes back with a picture of 126° inside their
- 1:12:15truck. Yeah, we're in Pennsylvania.
- 1:12:17We're not even in Texas or Arizona or New Mexico.
- 1:12:21We're in Pennsylvania. Yeah.
- 1:12:23So. So what the hell do you think
- 1:12:24those people are going through? Yeah.
- 1:12:26Yeah, you're right. Fuck them, fuck them, you know
- 1:12:29you. This job is not worth your life.
- 1:12:34No they will. They will find another body to
- 1:12:37put in your place tomorrow and won't even blink you.
- 1:12:41You die in somebody's yard, the rest of your route's going to
- 1:12:43get delivered. Oh hell yeah.
- 1:12:46It's just not going to sit there.
- 1:12:48It'll get delivered. And so there's too many things
- 1:12:53when you talk about start times, you can, you can move them to
- 1:12:55sick. We don't have the mail then.
- 1:12:57But in the mail you do have sent out and the mail that comes in,
- 1:12:59that'll be the next day's mail. You had the postmaster general
- 1:13:02say we're not worried about standards any longer.
- 1:13:06Two days, three days, first class, all those things help.
- 1:13:10Express Mail don't even have a standard anymore.
- 1:13:11Don't have a time anymore, just 6:00 whenever.
- 1:13:16What the hell? If y'all don't care, why should
- 1:13:17we? So the mail that comes in, if
- 1:13:20we're gone, that'll go out tomorrow and just miss a day of
- 1:13:23mail. Bring us in at six.
- 1:13:27Too many things we can do. Stick your DPS if you want.
- 1:13:30So I don't know if y'all heard, but when I was on the National
- 1:13:33Safety committee, I went at the area safety manager's name was
- 1:13:39Bruce Getz and we were talking and that's all they do is talk
- 1:13:43safety or whatever. What are we going to do?
- 1:13:45And I said how about start somewhere like none of them
- 1:13:48stick to DPS because you know you're not supposed to touch
- 1:13:51that. That's sacred.
- 1:13:52Don't touch that. Let them stick to DPS.
- 1:13:54That's work that they can do in the office, in the air
- 1:13:57conditioning that they don't have to worry about on the
- 1:13:58street. Those markets can be dealt with
- 1:14:01in here rather than having to mess with all those whole orders
- 1:14:03and all that shit out on the street.
- 1:14:05Do that. If it saves them 20 minutes,
- 1:14:07that's 20 minutes outside that 130° that you just talking
- 1:14:10about. Yep.
- 1:14:11Do that and they said can't do that, Bob says.
- 1:14:14They're worried about our efficiency.
- 1:14:17It will always be about the numbers to them.
- 1:14:20It'll always be about the numbers.
- 1:14:24That's the least efficient you can get.
- 1:14:27And so they don't give a fuck. They don't care about your
- 1:14:30safety. They don't care about your life.
- 1:14:32They care about their money. Unfortunately, the union has
- 1:14:36turned into the same thing. The union only cares about your
- 1:14:40money. And I always say this, the city
- 1:14:42letter carrier has been abandoned by the Postal Service,
- 1:14:46who All they care about is money.
- 1:14:48And our agent, our union, has abandoned us because now all
- 1:14:52they care about is money. We got a president that's
- 1:14:55spending us in the bankruptcy night.
- 1:14:57Right now, all they care about is money and what are we doing?
- 1:15:02We're dying. We're trying to help each other
- 1:15:05get through the summer, educating each other as far as
- 1:15:07city letter carriers, how to protect each other.
- 1:15:11And we got a union that's rogue, that's spending us into
- 1:15:15oblivion. We got postal management
- 1:15:18incompetent as shit. The service cares about money
- 1:15:22and money only. And where are we at standing
- 1:15:26down here on the floor, hand in hand, arm in arm, fighting for
- 1:15:31each other. And we'll remove all these son
- 1:15:33of a bitches next year in this vote.
- 1:15:35Y'all got to do the same thing? Now.
- 1:15:38Corey and and Corey's right in regards to the money, James,
- 1:15:42because our president and other national officers sat there and
- 1:15:46said if everybody joined in the NRLCA, we'd have another 17 to
- 1:15:51$18,000,000 to promote postal policy.
- 1:15:54In regards to the crafts bullshit, we've got five people
- 1:15:58on the national board making almost $200,000 in salary living
- 1:16:03in 8 to $900,000 homes that we've done paid for.
- 1:16:09So don't tell me it it, it's not about the money.
- 1:16:12That's that's the only thing it's about.
- 1:16:14It's it. Yeah, that's it.
- 1:16:17And last last year at National Convention I had passed up a
- 1:16:22resolution where our PTS who are only guaranteed 2 routes a week
- 1:16:29would pay only a set amount of dues.
- 1:16:33Halfway between RCA and regular. Right now they're currently
- 1:16:37paying regular carrier dues. Carriers that work 5 or 6 days a
- 1:16:40week dues when they're only guaranteed 2 days a week.
- 1:16:46But of course they put the financial numbers on there.
- 1:16:49How much it would cost them with the current PTF even though
- 1:16:52because of lack of hiring due to low wages, we're getting more
- 1:16:58and more PTS and formula offices and so PTS are becoming more
- 1:17:03prevalent. We could have made that money up
- 1:17:04with the number of PTS that are coming into the system, but
- 1:17:07they're too short sighted on the current money to see future
- 1:17:12monies that are going to be coming in and how participation
- 1:17:16in the union could increase because the carriers are looking
- 1:17:18at their paycheck. Hey, I shouldn't be paying the
- 1:17:20union that's 30 bucks a paycheck when I could be 30 bucks in my
- 1:17:26paycheck where I can actually go and afford food and stuff like
- 1:17:29this. You know it, It's one of those
- 1:17:31things, and I know we have less PTS than we did last year, but
- 1:17:35they're starting to. The big management push that
- 1:17:38I've been hearing a lot lately is Formula office, Formula
- 1:17:41office, Formula office, which means more PTS management has
- 1:17:45been pushing for that for several years now since we
- 1:17:49brought on the PTF and Formula Office position.
- 1:17:52And yeah, because people don't want to work here even at PTF
- 1:17:56wages. But to your point, Corey, about
- 1:18:00your carriers being out on the street a lot longer, You know my
- 1:18:05fight that I talked about in in the opening where the the
- 1:18:09postmaster told me to take my DPS to the street.
- 1:18:12I will tell you this. I, I have cased my mail, cased
- 1:18:16it all, pulled it down, took it to the street.
- 1:18:18I have taken DPS to the street and I will tell you my flip flop
- 1:18:23method that I use flopping every other address saves me two hours
- 1:18:31on the street from fingering through the mail.
- 1:18:37It cost me an hour in the office, so I'm still one hour
- 1:18:43under the time it would take me to take DPS to the street.
- 1:18:46Now I'm wondering why they don't do that with city carrier,
- 1:18:49because one that would keep you in the air conditioning a lot
- 1:18:52longer and cool. And then to add on to that, when
- 1:18:58my neighbor across the street from my parents was a rural
- 1:19:00carrier, and I actually went to work with her one day and
- 1:19:05watched her work and I had to be up at 3:00 in the morning to be
- 1:19:08in there at 4:00 in the morning so she could start casing her
- 1:19:12route. And she left for her route at
- 1:19:157:00 in the morning. I'm wondering why is it that
- 1:19:19we're getting mail so late now when back then we were getting
- 1:19:25it at 43 o'clock 4:00 in the morning at all these offices?
- 1:19:29Why is it that our mail is getting there so late these days
- 1:19:33with digital sorting and processing of our mail system,
- 1:19:40you know, from not only our DPS but also our parcels that come
- 1:19:44from from the plant. Why can't we find a way to get
- 1:19:48management to push these numbers back down to 4:00 in the
- 1:19:52morning? So carriers can come in at five,
- 1:19:546:00 in the morning, be out of the office eight, 9:00 in the
- 1:19:58morning, and be back into the office by one 2:00 in the
- 1:20:02afternoon just as it's starting to get to the hottest part of
- 1:20:05the day. Yeah, and like my man said, you
- 1:20:08know, and those that want more can get more if that's what you
- 1:20:12want. You know, those we have those
- 1:20:14that they survive on overtime and they're probably like, oh
- 1:20:17shit, you know, if I'm back, you know, seven O 1.
- 1:20:20If I'm seven O 1 everyday, I'm gonna mess on it over.
- 1:20:23Well, you know, there's still those in place, things in place
- 1:20:26where you can get all the time you want as long as you protect
- 1:20:29yourself in this heat. But there are those that say,
- 1:20:32hey, in this heat, June, July and August, I want to be gone.
- 1:20:37I want to be in the air conditioner in my house.
- 1:20:39There are things that we can do to help them.
- 1:20:40We just don't we don't want to talk too damn much.
- 1:20:42Like I said, there are things that we can do.
- 1:20:45When you talk about coming in at six and they say the mail's not
- 1:20:49here, well then start us in at 6, whatever we got to take that.
- 1:20:54The mail that comes in, you'll just start that the next day and
- 1:20:57then the next day and the next day and the next day and so.
- 1:21:01Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:21:03Well, how you made back in the day, you said that you've been
- 1:21:05here a long time. You remember back in the day
- 1:21:07they would stage it like that. You've.
- 1:21:10Come in. How many?
- 1:21:12How? When's the last time you saw a
- 1:21:13color coat? Yeah, I'm not saying one in a
- 1:21:16year. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:21:17Remember back then you'd have purple, yellow, orange, all that
- 1:21:22green and purple? Yeah.
- 1:21:24Purple, blue and green. Yeah.
- 1:21:26And you'd say this goes today, that goes tomorrow, this goes
- 1:21:30today. So they're not concerned about
- 1:21:31that. So just do that.
- 1:21:34All you're missing is that you're just kicking it a day.
- 1:21:36That's it. You don't have, like I said, you
- 1:21:38don't have any standards any longer.
- 1:21:40The Postmaster General, the joy took those away.
- 1:21:43Exactly. True.
- 1:21:44So there, there's a lot of things if we care, if we're
- 1:21:49interested. To to help the other.
- 1:21:53The other thing about the DPS, you know, running late and on,
- 1:21:56you don't mind leaving the DPS for vacant routes, but damn it,
- 1:22:01you better get them parcels out. Yeah.
- 1:22:03So don't tell, Don't tell me. Yeah, don't tell me you have a
- 1:22:08urgency for DPS, because it doesn't matter anymore.
- 1:22:12Yeah, all of a sudden we care about it when it comes to our
- 1:22:15safety. But how many times y'all just
- 1:22:17seen a come back from to the station?
- 1:22:19Just a route sitting there, didn't get delivered.
- 1:22:23Not a drop. But during the summer we can't
- 1:22:27do anything to help y'all out. This is ultra important now that
- 1:22:30we get the smell out every single day.
- 1:22:33Your your health. The most important thing.
- 1:22:36The hell? We don't give a fuck about that.
- 1:22:39We need to get this mail out. We Corey, we, we got a new
- 1:22:44postmaster in 045 years ago and this guy was such a piece of
- 1:22:50shit that 18 career carriers resigned and retired within 60
- 1:22:57days. God Dang.
- 1:23:00They had anywhere from 14 to 26 routes of DPS sitting there
- 1:23:06every day because of the shortage.
- 1:23:11Everybody was doing parking loops for the parcels, the hell
- 1:23:14with the mail, until finally one day somebody came in and raised
- 1:23:20hell and every supervisor had to take routes out the next day for
- 1:23:24the next three days to catch up. And then, then they were
- 1:23:29bringing Ccas in from offices all around just to maintain
- 1:23:33until they could hire more. But they didn't give a shit
- 1:23:37about those damn routes. You know when when the parcels
- 1:23:40were there they had to go and routes sat there for days.
- 1:23:44Yeah, yeah. You got to.
- 1:23:53Rural carriers, we're an inconvenience is all we are, but
- 1:23:56we're an inconvenience to them and so and I wish that our union
- 1:24:02was an inconvenience to management.
- 1:24:04I wish that they would be that What the hell they're in,
- 1:24:08they're in bed with them. Son of a bitches so.
- 1:24:12Now, Corey, I have a probably not a good question, but do you
- 1:24:17know how many city carriers we've lost so far this year?
- 1:24:22If I'm not mistaken, is it four or five?
- 1:24:28I know. That we lost.
- 1:24:30One in Texas and Colorado there. There's two in Texas.
- 1:24:35Colorado. Why am I thinking 5?
- 1:24:39Why am I thinking that? I thought I saw that somewhere
- 1:24:43the other day, but I know that there's one in Colorado, 2 in
- 1:24:46Texas. I know that I've had several
- 1:24:49people reach out about those that have been taken to the
- 1:24:52hospital already. They're nice to you.
- 1:24:55So it's daily, you know, we're going to come.
- 1:24:59Go ahead. From the heat.
- 1:25:02Yes, yes. Because.
- 1:25:07Sometimes it doesn't matter what you do, you can do everything
- 1:25:12humanly possible to protect yourself.
- 1:25:15You can do everything imaginable.
- 1:25:16You can hydrate all these things, you know, put the hat
- 1:25:20on, water the cold tiles, compressors and things, and it's
- 1:25:26still going to get you because the heat is a killer.
- 1:25:31What about that one carrier that sent a message via scanner to
- 1:25:36management about feeling ill? Got no response, They called
- 1:25:40911. They ended up taking her to the
- 1:25:42hospital. And when you get back to the
- 1:25:44office at 6:00 PM, supervisor, like, what are you doing?
- 1:25:48Yeah. Didn't you check the message?
- 1:25:50And they eat Peter at. Yeah, put on emergency placement
- 1:25:53for calling 911. See, those are things and I
- 1:25:56talked about this, when I become EVP, James Henry becomes
- 1:25:59president, those are things that will get my attention.
- 1:26:03If you want the spotlight, I will give it to you.
- 1:26:08I will bring the full force of the NAFC on that individual.
- 1:26:13You have a person putting somebody on EP that had to call
- 1:26:16911. So what is that message?
- 1:26:19What is that message to everybody else in that station?
- 1:26:22What if I call 911 because I'm overcome?
- 1:26:24They're going to put me on. I can't afford to be off the
- 1:26:26clock for a week or however long.
- 1:26:28I'll just keep going. What's that message?
- 1:26:30We have to send a message. We have to send a message to
- 1:26:34management. That shit won't be tolerated.
- 1:26:38If I got to go get every news camera in that city and come
- 1:26:42meet that manager on the back dock and talk about it.
- 1:26:46If I had to send two or three teams in there to stay in there
- 1:26:50a week and watch their process. If I've got to get the district
- 1:26:54manager on record, his opinion of that so that they can be drug
- 1:26:58into arbitration, I'm going to do it.
- 1:27:02These managers that separate themselves from the pack that do
- 1:27:05that. These they're saying you only
- 1:27:06get one break in the heat and I'm going to talk about that
- 1:27:09tonight on mine. It's still going on.
- 1:27:11We, we don't get, we don't get extra breaks in the heat.
- 1:27:14Those individuals will get my attention.
- 1:27:16And when you get my attention, like I said, you want the
- 1:27:19spotlight, I'm going to give it to you and I'm going to keep it
- 1:27:21on you and we'll see if you can take that heat.
- 1:27:24They cannot, I promise you, they cannot take the full force of
- 1:27:28the NALC as it will be when James Henry takes over.
- 1:27:32It will be a new day. As far as going after management
- 1:27:35retribution. I don't know if you heard me
- 1:27:37talking about the consequence. We will be the consequence of
- 1:27:41management's actions as far as that put someone on emergency
- 1:27:44placement because they called 911, because they were overcome
- 1:27:48by the heat, because y'all wouldn't respond to a message.
- 1:27:53Yeah. If we we send you a message, you
- 1:27:57better respond. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:28:02Yeah, be back by 5:00. What if I get back at six and
- 1:28:05say, I didn't see your message? You're still going to get
- 1:28:08discipline. You're going to get an
- 1:28:09investigative interview. You know, we, we, we talked to
- 1:28:13y'all through these MDD devices. But hell, I was talking to y'all
- 1:28:16too. I was overcome with the heat.
- 1:28:17They don't give a fuck. You're an inconvenience.
- 1:28:20Like I said. Well, hell, if I send somebody
- 1:28:22out there that's going to adjust my hours and I've already turned
- 1:28:24in my hours for the day, I might have to answer that tomorrow.
- 1:28:27So I'll just ignore that message.
- 1:28:30Well, now you become an inconvenience because you called
- 1:28:32911. Now they got to fill out all
- 1:28:34these forms to get you compensated and all this shit
- 1:28:38and where was your mail sitting out to see you abandon your mail
- 1:28:41and we're an inconvenience. Our union has got to start being
- 1:28:46an inconvenience to these motherfuckers in management.
- 1:28:49I I thought that was the greatest slap in the face,
- 1:28:52reading that you abandoned the mail.
- 1:28:57Yeah, motherfucker, I almost died and you worried about the
- 1:29:01damn mail? Yeah.
- 1:29:03Yeah. Well, it's the it's the same.
- 1:29:07It's the same as that carrier that got EP now for his Nike
- 1:29:12report for a situation that occurred back when he was just
- 1:29:18starting out as a carrier. And they resolved the situation,
- 1:29:23they disciplined them, they grieved it.
- 1:29:25It got reduced and now they ET them for the exact same thing,
- 1:29:29which basically is double jeopardy, all because they're
- 1:29:32they're their new new thing is the Nike report and finding ways
- 1:29:38to get rid of carriers that way since obviously the odds didn't
- 1:29:41work too well for them. Yeah.
- 1:29:45I mean, it's like everything they do, they try to find ways
- 1:29:48to get rid of carrier and increase the number of
- 1:29:51management. It's time for these unions to
- 1:29:56come down on them with a combined effort.
- 1:30:00We have 6. 170. 1000 people in this Postal Service 630,000
- 1:30:06voices that could come down on this management and shut them
- 1:30:11down. You ever seen the movie The
- 1:30:13Warriors? Yeah, exactly.
- 1:30:17Remember when they all met? Yep.
- 1:30:20And, and you had the man say, Hey, we outnumber everybody.
- 1:30:25We Mary said, can you dig it? Him, you know, and that's what
- 1:30:31he was saying. Look, we can run all this if we
- 1:30:35get together, if we, if we are united together, these unions,
- 1:30:39if we do that, we can run this. Our problem is y'all going
- 1:30:45y'all's way. You got about 10% involvement.
- 1:30:48We're going our way. All right, we finally got
- 1:30:50involvement, but our leadership is piss poor.
- 1:30:53APWI don't know what they're doing.
- 1:30:56It looks the hell they got 100% cola.
- 1:30:59At least, you know, we didn't get that.
- 1:31:01And but so somebody's fighting for something over there.
- 1:31:05They know what they're doing. And but just imagine, like you
- 1:31:10say, if the unions would quit, you know, shitting on us and say
- 1:31:15we're going to unite with each other and we're going to start
- 1:31:20dictating things on this workroom floor.
- 1:31:22We're going to start dictating things in Washington.
- 1:31:25We're going to go in front of Congress and the Senate.
- 1:31:27We're going to go over to the presidents, whether you like
- 1:31:29them or not, you got you got four years of them.
- 1:31:31We're going to start doing things, letting the public know
- 1:31:34who we are and what we do. That's what your union should be
- 1:31:39doing rather than spending us into oblivion, rather than being
- 1:31:44at the local bars till 2:00 in the morning, they need to be at
- 1:31:48their ass in the office busting that ass for us.
- 1:31:51And they're not. But you're exactly right.
- 1:31:54Imagine the power of that. Just like in the Warriors when
- 1:31:57he said all of this, we outnumber the cops 5 to 1,
- 1:32:02whatever the number was. I can't remember.
- 1:32:03I had to go back and watch it. But he's exactly right.
- 1:32:07You want to run things? Get your unions to be united.
- 1:32:10Y'all have to be united as a, as a, as a carrier craft.
- 1:32:14The rural carriers have got to be united.
- 1:32:16Y'all got to stand up at some point if you want change and the
- 1:32:20city letter carriers are stood up.
- 1:32:21We're going to make change next year.
- 1:32:23And yeah, yeah, a great point. Unite with each other.
- 1:32:29We could make change this year to start going that direction.
- 1:32:35Yeah. Our up for election.
- 1:32:38I'm running for it. We could make change this year,
- 1:32:43yes, And that change could push into the next year when you guys
- 1:32:47take over and the CLC takes over.
- 1:32:51James Henry becomes president. And James Henry and I can work
- 1:32:55together to push the management to be in line, to be militant,
- 1:33:01to do their job, to follow the contract and protect the city
- 1:33:06and rural letter carriers. Yeah, that should be our only
- 1:33:09concern. That should be the number one
- 1:33:12concern, protecting our people. I would love it.
- 1:33:17I would love it. Y'all got to get up and do it
- 1:33:18though, yeah? Y'all got to get up and
- 1:33:21delegates to do it and that is is on every single rural letter
- 1:33:24carrier to speak with the delegates that are going to
- 1:33:27National Convention. That is for the alternate
- 1:33:30delegates who didn't get the delegate nomination to come to
- 1:33:35National Convention and be a voice for the rural carriers on
- 1:33:39the working floor to push these delegates to vote for the change
- 1:33:44that the carriers need. It's time for every single rural
- 1:33:48letter carrier in this craft to stand up like the city carriers
- 1:33:51did and are going to do when the CLP gets elected next year.
- 1:33:57And that is the point we here on this podcast are pushing for
- 1:34:02carriers to be educated, for carriers to stand up for
- 1:34:05themselves, for carriers to stand up for this union.
- 1:34:08Corey's doing that on from 8 arbitration along with several
- 1:34:11other podcasts out there. And that is the change that
- 1:34:14needs to come across this entire organization, including the
- 1:34:19APWU, including the mail handlers, every single craft.
- 1:34:23It's time for us to stop eating scraps.
- 1:34:27Yes, spot on. I couldn't have said it better
- 1:34:32myself. At some point, it has to be that
- 1:34:36time, and there's no better time to present for y'all.
- 1:34:39Y'all got this year. Yeah, at some point, the rule
- 1:34:44carriers are going to say enough is enough.
- 1:34:47We've got to make a change. Like I said, brother, you know,
- 1:34:52whether you win it or not, as far as the contract, as far as
- 1:34:55what you're proposing, as far as what you're asking for, as long
- 1:34:59as your people know that you're in there fighting your ass off
- 1:35:01for them. That's all I wanted.
- 1:35:04All I wanted was for Renfro to fight.
- 1:35:07He probably would have made it. Maybe not, but you know, he
- 1:35:10would have had a better chance at making it if he would have
- 1:35:12just fought. If all these things he's talking
- 1:35:14about, all these promises, saying it, you know it's going
- 1:35:17to be a 9% increase or else we're not going to settle for
- 1:35:23anything less than 9%. That's what he's telling us.
- 1:35:26So we're thinking, damn, go in there and fight for that.
- 1:35:28Brother, we're with you and 1.3, you know, ended up being 3.9.
- 1:35:34What happened to the 9%? We're not going to settle for
- 1:35:37anything less than 9%. You missed the period at the
- 1:35:40beginning of the nine. You missed the period at the
- 1:35:42beginning. It was 3.9.
- 1:35:44So yeah, he said 9 but he missed the .9.
- 1:35:47Yeah, he missed the three-point, but yeah, he it's that type of
- 1:35:52shit. I'm talking about the city
- 1:35:54letter carriers want to see you fight.
- 1:35:57That's it. I always see these memes come
- 1:36:00across. If it's 1% chance to win fight,
- 1:36:04fight. If you got 1% chance to win,
- 1:36:06fight. Anyway, that's what I've always
- 1:36:08said. You fight.
- 1:36:10And so that's what y'all need your mindset.
- 1:36:14Look here we're going to we're going to evaluate, we're going
- 1:36:17to look at everything. What are we worth to us not to
- 1:36:20management, not to the public. What are we worth to us on a
- 1:36:23working floor? That's what I want to propose.
- 1:36:27What are we worth? We worth five more dollars an
- 1:36:30hour. Then that's what I'm going to go
- 1:36:32in there and say my, my negotiations with management
- 1:36:35would be one day when we sit down and say what are, what are
- 1:36:38the starting things? Well, we're going to need five
- 1:36:41more dollars an hour. Well, we can't do that.
- 1:36:43Get ready for arbitration 'cause I can't go below that because my
- 1:36:48people deserve that. If you say they don't go in
- 1:36:51there and show an arbitrator why they don't, I think I can show
- 1:36:54them why they do. That's how it's not 700 days.
- 1:36:58It won't take 700 days if I say that the CCA craft needs to be
- 1:37:03abolished, but we need an all career workforce.
- 1:37:08He said that it's going to be an our career workforce or it's a
- 1:37:10non starter. Well, to me when you say that,
- 1:37:12that means it won't start the the first day you go in there
- 1:37:16and you say, hey, before we start, I need an all career
- 1:37:19workforce. Can't do it.
- 1:37:21We're going to see y'all in arbitration because that's what
- 1:37:24I told my people. That's what he told us.
- 1:37:28My Ccas need a substantial raise, a substantial starting
- 1:37:31increase. We can give them $0.90, Brother,
- 1:37:34get ready. We'll see you on arbitration
- 1:37:37because they deserve that. That's where you are at,
- 1:37:40brother. That's where you are at.
- 1:37:42What does the royal carrier craft?
- 1:37:44What do y'all deserve? We deserve this.
- 1:37:47Then that's exactly what I'm going to go in there and tell.
- 1:37:50Them well, well, Corey, I, I, I, I think you're confused because
- 1:37:55the the post office doesn't know how to manage money.
- 1:37:58And I'll give you a a big, for instance, first hand knowledge
- 1:38:02Wayne, PA, SD and C last year tore up the parking lot and this
- 1:38:09is close to AA12 acre facility. Tore up the parking lot, dug the
- 1:38:16ditches, laid in the conduit ran the lines for 130 plus electric
- 1:38:22NGDVS put put the fill the ditches OK put up the concrete
- 1:38:29columns to protect the the the charging stations re repave the
- 1:38:34entire parking lot which at least 6 acres of it with parking
- 1:38:39lot. They're going to get the NGDV
- 1:38:42electric vehicle right? Wrong.
- 1:38:46As of Saturday did they delivered 8 gasoline powered
- 1:38:51NGDVS? There's 162 in a storage lot
- 1:38:58waiting for dispersal to other offices as soon as they can find
- 1:39:01enough people to train the carriers on how to drive them.
- 1:39:06So you spent millions of dollars with a brand new transformer
- 1:39:11direct off the power lines, charging stations, repaving the
- 1:39:15parking lot and everything, and you're not bringing the electric
- 1:39:19vehicles in? Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:39:22They depend on grievance payouts.
- 1:39:24Yes. And I, I, I don't know whether
- 1:39:26or not they canceled the electric aspect of the vehicles
- 1:39:30that there's some reports that they have or have not, but you
- 1:39:34put in 130 charging stations and you're bringing gasoline powered
- 1:39:38vehicles in. Yeah.
- 1:39:40Well, you I think I heard where this new administration has
- 1:39:43canceled that the electric. Vehicle.
- 1:39:46Yeah, I thought I heard something about it too, but you
- 1:39:48know, I, I can't prove it. I would sue them.
- 1:39:51And and I was they took. That back.
- 1:39:55You spent millions on these stations and you're delivering
- 1:40:00gas powered vehicles. We don't have the we don't have
- 1:40:06the brightest among us, leading us.
- 1:40:08OK, we they're not. They're not the brightest.
- 1:40:12They resended that that the removal of the electric vehicles
- 1:40:15because of it cost the post office $1.5 billion to cancel
- 1:40:19it. Yeah.
- 1:40:20Yeah, that's fine. I would sue for that.
- 1:40:23That's that's the same way when they cancelled the 50 extra FSS
- 1:40:26machines after the mail volume started declining.
- 1:40:31And it's almost like you came in at the tail end of flat and said
- 1:40:33we're going to do FSS. Yeah.
- 1:40:36And that no foresight. That was funny because in 2001,
- 1:40:41in our office, we were noticing the decline when they started to
- 1:40:44institute that. And we're sitting there going
- 1:40:46no, no, no, we don't. We don't.
- 1:40:48We don't need these machines. And what, in less than 10 years,
- 1:40:52they were shot to hell. Now the plants got transformed.
- 1:40:55Into billions of that. Yes, thank God they had the big
- 1:40:59buildings for those machines because they turned around and
- 1:41:02turned them into parcel authority offices.
- 1:41:05Dumbasses. Where's that pre funding on
- 1:41:08retirement? Where's that money?
- 1:41:10Oh yeah, Ask Congress for that give.
- 1:41:16Us that back and we'll be all right.
- 1:41:18Then fucking thieves. They, they dipped in our
- 1:41:22pocketbooks. Like I was saying, you know, the
- 1:41:24money's out there if you want to get in those books and say, hey,
- 1:41:28from 20 years ago, where's our money been going?
- 1:41:30And this whole time y'all kept the essential worker at poverty
- 1:41:34level and y'all have spent billions and billions and
- 1:41:38billions on what? And we, the workers, the ones
- 1:41:42who touched the mail, have been kept on at poverty level.
- 1:41:47Where's our money? You could be paying us so much
- 1:41:50more, but you can't, you won't. Where's the money you got to get
- 1:41:55in those, those books? And I would go back.
- 1:41:59And so here's, here's where they've wasted all this and
- 1:42:02you're going to tell me that you can't give me more than 1.3?
- 1:42:06Come on, UPS can give theirs 50. Where's mine?
- 1:42:13Where's mine? And you know, but like I said,
- 1:42:16you'll have those that are in their pockets on social media,
- 1:42:19you know, well, we, you know, we've always got this, then you
- 1:42:22will always get it. You know, if that's your
- 1:42:26position, then you'll always don't even get into contract
- 1:42:29negotiations. Just tell me, hey, I, I just go
- 1:42:31and give me that 1.3 and save us a lot of time and money.
- 1:42:35But you got to get somebody, you got to get a champion.
- 1:42:39Alright, Josh, you can call for a while.
- 1:42:42You got anything for Corey? Want to come to National
- 1:42:46Convention in Orlando to really pep up the crowd?
- 1:42:49I'm going to try, brother. I'm going to try.
- 1:42:51I've got my I'm serious. I'm going to cry.
- 1:42:53OK, OK. I got a table you can stand at
- 1:42:57if you want to be there. I I got to get my schedule.
- 1:43:02What the James and I are going all over the country, but if I
- 1:43:06can make it, I promise you I'll be there.
- 1:43:09James can come too. I'm sure he'd love to.
- 1:43:14Oh. I can't speak for him, but.
- 1:43:18That that that would make a great convention.
- 1:43:21Oh. My goodness, will they let me
- 1:43:25in. Hey, you know what, I'll I'll
- 1:43:29motion to suspend the rules so you can speak.
- 1:43:31You're a guest, though You're a guest there though you could.
- 1:43:36You're allowed to accepting the business session as a guest.
- 1:43:41Well, like I said, I promise you if I can make it, I'll make it.
- 1:43:47Yeah. And then you have you'd you'd
- 1:43:50have some asshole like Bill may turn around and ask for a
- 1:43:53suspension of the rules for you to speak.
- 1:44:01I'd do it. All right, guys, we're going,
- 1:44:07we're going on hour and 45 minutes already our time we
- 1:44:13start wrapping this. Up, this is normal for me I
- 1:44:21guess. Start going man.
- 1:44:22It's like 3 hours later you're like well let me get into my
- 1:44:25topic. Yeah.
- 1:44:29No, I've loved it. We need to do this more often,
- 1:44:31man. Yes.
- 1:44:34So Corey, we usually do this on every podcast.
- 1:44:37We want your final thoughts on this episode.
- 1:44:39What, what? What is your message you want to
- 1:44:42give to the rural carriers listening to this?
- 1:44:45Yeah, you got to stand up at some point.
- 1:44:48At some point, rule letter carriers, rule carriers, you've
- 1:44:52got to stand up or it will always be this way.
- 1:44:57You want to stand in the soup line forever?
- 1:44:59Stay with what you got. Stay with the status quo.
- 1:45:02And I promise you that's what you're going to be, OK.
- 1:45:05You want to stay at poverty level?
- 1:45:07Stay with what you got. That's an easy fix.
- 1:45:10You don't have to do a damn thing.
- 1:45:12How about 14,000? Vote on your next contract, vote
- 1:45:16on your next TA. You want to stay where you're
- 1:45:18at, Do that. You are in good shape.
- 1:45:20But if you want to make a difference, if you want to make
- 1:45:22a change, you got to stand up eventually.
- 1:45:25You got to pick your captain and say this is the one, this is the
- 1:45:30one who's going to lead us forward, that's going to fight
- 1:45:34for US. Win or lose, win or lose fight.
- 1:45:38You got that one. You got that captain.
- 1:45:40He's telling you here on this episode, I'm standing up for
- 1:45:44you. I'm going to do it.
- 1:45:46I'm going to take that over. You got to get rid of this
- 1:45:49establishment. We're doing it next year.
- 1:45:52You got to get rid of the establishment, those who have
- 1:45:54forgotten where they've come from.
- 1:45:57It's about one thing and one thing only.
- 1:45:59The craft, the rank and file. It's about one thing and one
- 1:46:04thing only. As soon as y'all get that in
- 1:46:06y'all's heads, you'll make a change.
- 1:46:08You got to love each other above everything else.
- 1:46:12Above everything else, it's love.
- 1:46:15You love your your people on the floor nationwide when you talk
- 1:46:20about 1 harmed or all harmed, you got to love each other.
- 1:46:24You want a revolution, You want a phenomenon that they're
- 1:46:27talking about. You want a movement, love each
- 1:46:30other and rule cares. You can do it.
- 1:46:34Hey, you are no different than we are other than you are
- 1:46:37evaluated. But y'all can do it.
- 1:46:40It's just a matter of somebody standing up saying, hey, look, I
- 1:46:44will take this flag. I will take it.
- 1:46:48Get behind me. I got this and you got that
- 1:46:51person. He's he's on this episode here
- 1:46:53today. And so that would be my thing,
- 1:46:56man. Y'all want to talk about getting
- 1:46:57this movement going together? I'm all for it.
- 1:46:59I'm EVP James Henry and I we're we're down with it.
- 1:47:04Y'all want to come on board and let's do this together.
- 1:47:06I'm telling you now that'll happen.
- 1:47:08I'm telling you now. That's my word.
- 1:47:10We'll do that. We will change the work room
- 1:47:14floor, we will change the environment on the working
- 1:47:17floor, and together we will change the culture of these
- 1:47:21unions to get back to doing what we're supposed to be doing.
- 1:47:24The agent representing the carriers, that's what we could
- 1:47:29get back to and we'll do it. Y'all do it.
- 1:47:32Y'all do it. But if I can say one thing, I'd
- 1:47:34say those 5 right there. Josh, your final thoughts?
- 1:47:48Well, I can't really add more than what Corey said.
- 1:47:52I will say this, it's hot y'all make sure you're hydrating, make
- 1:47:59sure you're wearing that seat belt.
- 1:48:01Make sure that you're the captain of your own ship when
- 1:48:03you're out there in that vehicle.
- 1:48:05If you don't feel good, call somebody.
- 1:48:07If they try to write you up, great.
- 1:48:09Have fun with that one. Yes it I don't want to see one
- 1:48:15more carrier perishing in the seat or being injured. 1 is too
- 1:48:20many. So next week hydrate hydrate
- 1:48:28hydrate. Make sure you got your
- 1:48:29sunscreen, wear your hat and if you feel overcome by the heat,
- 1:48:34call somebody because you are the most important delivery at
- 1:48:37the end of the day. Doing Bill's line there.
- 1:48:45Bill, go ahead. Your final thoughts?
- 1:48:47Well, I'm gonna I'm gonna smack the shit out of them for
- 1:48:49stealing my trademark there. Bring it on.
- 1:48:56You remember, Remember, us old people, we don't run.
- 1:48:58We just shoot. OK, Well, Corey Corey's right.
- 1:49:04And he echoes the the fact that, you know, you have to love each
- 1:49:07other, OK. And that reminds me of being a
- 1:49:11local steward. You don't have to like the Rep
- 1:49:13person you represent. You can despise the person that
- 1:49:17you represent. But in that position as the
- 1:49:21steward, you are there to protect them.
- 1:49:24And in doing so, you're protecting the craft, You're
- 1:49:26protecting everybody. So you might not want to call it
- 1:49:30love. You might not want to call it
- 1:49:31due diligence. You might not want to call it
- 1:49:34fair representation. But when you sign that dotted
- 1:49:37line, as the local steward, you are their protection and you
- 1:49:43have to throw everything in your personality away in regards to
- 1:49:47the individual you're representing because you're
- 1:49:50enforcing it for the entire craft, not that individual
- 1:49:53alone. It's going to be hot.
- 1:49:56Everybody's going to, you know, turn around and hydrate.
- 1:50:00Everybody says, you know, if you feel woozy, get out of that
- 1:50:03truck because it's at least 20°, you know, cooler outside of the
- 1:50:07truck, even in the sun. Protect yourselves.
- 1:50:12You know, you are the most important delivery of the day.
- 1:50:15No phone calls should be made. No flowers should be sent
- 1:50:20because of a misjudgment in regards to your situation.
- 1:50:26If you don't feel right, pull over, cool down and call
- 1:50:30somebody. Yeah, whether I like you or not,
- 1:50:34I don't care that you do what you have to do to protect
- 1:50:39yourself to get home to your loved ones.
- 1:50:43Yeah, we, we, we, we've had a great program tonight.
- 1:50:47And and Corey's articulated very well about standing together.
- 1:50:52And that's, that's a fact, Whether you want to call it love
- 1:50:55or whatever, we have to stand together.
- 1:50:59You know, united we stand, divided we fall.
- 1:51:03It's always easier to pick off the individual than it is to
- 1:51:06take on a group. And that's what we have to do.
- 1:51:09We have to learn to come together as somebody would say,
- 1:51:13we're all in this together and we are even I am at even
- 1:51:18retired. I'm still in this 5-6 days a
- 1:51:21week talking to people I am in then messaging, texting because
- 1:51:26I don't stop you guys. And you know you've been the
- 1:51:30better part of my life. And you know whether I like you,
- 1:51:34not your family. I don't like everybody in my
- 1:51:37family and vice versa. Not everybody in my family likes
- 1:51:41me, but you guys are family to me.
- 1:51:45Keep in mind, you are the most important delivery of the day.
- 1:51:49Be safe, be professional, be efficient.
- 1:51:52Get home to your loved ones at the end of the day.
- 1:51:55James. Thank you guys all for
- 1:51:58participating, especially Corey. Appreciate you coming on on this
- 1:52:02one. You know, we're, we're coming up
- 1:52:05on July 4th, Independence Day, the day we stepped away from
- 1:52:12tyranny. And people who were not
- 1:52:15representing us for our best interests, they were
- 1:52:19representing them for a single person's interest, the crown.
- 1:52:24And here we are with leaders who wear crown, think they're the
- 1:52:30most important person in this entire union because their title
- 1:52:34is president. It's the same title as a king.
- 1:52:38They think they control everything, they're responsible
- 1:52:41for everything, and they're the only ones that can make the best
- 1:52:44decisions for this craft. No, the people of this craft are
- 1:52:50the ones that make best decisions for this craft.
- 1:52:53United together. That is why we have national
- 1:52:59conventions. That's why we have state
- 1:53:00conventions is so our people have the chance to step up,
- 1:53:05stand up and say what direction they want this craft to go.
- 1:53:10And it is time for this craft to do that.
- 1:53:13It's time for us to stand up, show our independence as a unit,
- 1:53:19a unified body for this craft because we are all in this
- 1:53:25together and whether you like a person or not, you still have to
- 1:53:30treat them with dignity, fairness and respect.
- 1:53:34You're like Bill said and Josh said, you don't have to like the
- 1:53:38person to defend the craft. That is the whole point of the
- 1:53:43steward system is to defend the craft because when 1 carrier is
- 1:53:47harmed, even if you don't like that carrier, all other carriers
- 1:53:51are harmed down the line from that.
- 1:53:55So you got to look out for your brothers and sisters of this
- 1:53:57craft. Look out for your brothers and
- 1:53:59sisters of the other craft. I've been a witness to clerk
- 1:54:05grievances in my office. We don't have city carriers in
- 1:54:09my offices, but I was a witness for a clerk grievance and a
- 1:54:13clerk's been a witness for a real grievance in my office.
- 1:54:18We are all in this together and we have to show up.
- 1:54:23We have to stand up and we have to stand up for ourselves.
- 1:54:28We have to file grievances. We have to show management we
- 1:54:32know our jobs way better than they do because 99% of the time
- 1:54:37we do know our jobs better than they do.
- 1:54:42So take care of yourself, be safe and like Bill says, get
- 1:54:48home to your loved ones because you're the most important
- 1:54:50delivery of the day. And of course, don't get swept
- 1:54:58'cause it. But if you do.
- 1:55:00Take a step back, take a deep breath, and then step back in.
- 1:55:05Sorry, Josh had to steal your line since everybody else stole
- 1:55:07everybody else's but. Plagiarism.
- 1:55:10Plagiarism. Oh my God.
- 1:55:15But yeah, we will be back again next week for another episode.
- 1:55:19We appreciate you guys coming and listening to us.
- 1:55:22And again, appreciate Corey for taking time out of his busy
- 1:55:25schedule to join us on here. And remember, we are all in this
- 1:55:30together. We'll see you next week.
- 1:55:34May I say one thing before we close?
- 1:55:37Go for it. Please be sure to check out From
- 1:55:40A to Arbitration and all related podcasts.

- 1:55:57and my pleasure out. I look forward to more podcasts
- 1:56:00like this. As we, as Corey, as we say in
