- 1:37Speaker 2: applies to your situation, call us this morning, and that's
- 1:39Speaker 2: what we're here for. Three zero four three four five

- 1:50Speaker 2: We're going to talk about some flood insurance this morning.
- 1:52Speaker 2: We're going to talk about maybe some other structures that
- 1:54Speaker 2: you have on your property, making sure that you have
- 1:57Speaker 2: the proper types of coverage for contents and things. We're
- 2:00Speaker 2: gonna cover a wide spectrum this morning, but you can
- 2:02Speaker 2: help control that conversation as well. At three zero four
- 2:04Speaker 2: three four five fifty eight fifty eight. First of all, all,
- 2:07Speaker 2: don I know that you wanted to give a shout
- 2:09Speaker 2: out to some folks that Capital Insurance Group supports. Uh
- 2:12Speaker 2: kind of an important call, uh callback here with the
- 2:14Speaker 2: World Cup.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I've been watching the World Cup. I saw landon
- 2:18Speaker 4: Donovan's you know quote and it kind of went viral
- 2:22Speaker 4: about making soccer affordable. So, you know, our one of
- 2:25Speaker 4: our biggest partners and our mission you know is youth sports,
- 2:28Speaker 4: but one of our largest partners is West Side Soccer.
- 2:31Speaker 4: You know, probably in my opinion, you know, my humble opinion,
- 2:34Speaker 4: the best uh you know, rec League soccer organization and
- 2:39Speaker 4: uh in the county, if not the state, and uh,
- 2:41Speaker 4: you know, we partner with them trying to make soccer
- 2:44Speaker 4: affordable for everyone. You know, we sponsored the uniforms and
- 2:47Speaker 4: have done so and have made a ten year commitment
- 2:49Speaker 4: to them. You know, it's you know, it all goes
- 2:51Speaker 4: back to keeping those dollars within you know, this county
- 2:54Speaker 4: and with this city and moreover the state. You know,
- 2:56Speaker 4: and you support us, you support you know a ton
- 2:59Speaker 4: of useful or to activities, responsor all the team, a
- 3:02Speaker 4: lot of the teams of John Adams and teams of
- 3:04Speaker 4: Nitro Capital High you know, we we really try to
- 3:07Speaker 4: give back to the community. But you know, with soccer
- 3:09Speaker 4: being so prevalent, I want to give my guys at
- 3:10Speaker 4: West Side Soccer a big shout out, you know, because
- 3:13Speaker 4: they run a great organization. They make uh you know,
- 3:15Speaker 4: to have scholarships. You know, we're thankful for that partnership
- 3:18Speaker 4: and wanted to just give them a shout out.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Yeah, that's great stuff. And of course, uh it is
- 3:23Speaker 2: true any travel ball, but soccer, these things that they
- 3:25Speaker 2: can get kind of expensive. One of the ways you
- 3:27Speaker 2: can maybe shave a little bit of of money off
- 3:30Speaker 2: of your budget and save some money is looking at
- 3:32Speaker 2: your insurance because as you well, as you highlight every
- 3:35Speaker 2: time that you come in here, there are ways to
- 3:38Speaker 2: be not quote unquote cheaper insurance. Although it might be
- 3:41Speaker 2: less expensive, but you can better insure yourself and maybe
- 3:45Speaker 2: uh dot some of those eyes across some of those teas.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Let's start with with flood insurance as one of those
- 3:51Speaker 2: as one of those things, because I know that we've
- 3:53Speaker 2: talked about that quite a bit in this area. Of course,
- 3:55Speaker 2: it seems like we've been going through cycles of drought
- 3:59Speaker 2: and then tons of water drought, tons of water, so
- 4:01Speaker 2: that could be a big issue here in this area.
- 4:03Speaker 2: We redrew the flood plains ten years ago, so with
- 4:07Speaker 2: a big historic flood of twenty sixteen, so the properties
- 4:10Speaker 2: have elevated into flood areas. Now this is an important topic.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Yeah, you know there's more. You know, flood zones of extended.
- 4:16Speaker 4: You know, private market flood is you know becoming prevalent,
- 4:20Speaker 4: and you know resource and tool that consumers now have
- 4:24Speaker 4: access to. You don't have to be stuck with the
- 4:26Speaker 4: FEMA flood. Not the FEMA flood's a bad thing, but
- 4:29Speaker 4: it can just be a lot more expensive and dealing
- 4:31Speaker 4: with a professional licensed agent like myself, independent license agent
- 4:35Speaker 4: like myself can help you. We've seen some holes with coverages,
- 4:40Speaker 4: you know, some things that you know agents have gotten
- 4:43Speaker 4: used to doing. You know, one of the big things
- 4:46Speaker 4: is you buy a home for two hundred thousand dollars, right,
- 4:49Speaker 4: and the agent gives you two hundred thousand dollars of
- 4:52Speaker 4: coverage on your flood with a five thousand dollars deductible,
- 4:56Speaker 4: so that means, heaven forbid, your house is you know,
- 4:59Speaker 4: in total loss as a result of a flood, you're
- 5:01Speaker 4: going to owe the bank five thousand dollars and as
- 5:03Speaker 4: a result of that, and you know, we do things
- 5:05Speaker 4: a little different at Capital Insurance Group. We make sure
- 5:07Speaker 4: that you're covered at least twenty forty, if not fifty
- 5:10Speaker 4: thousand dollars above the purchase price. And people listening, what
- 5:13Speaker 4: does that do for you?
- 5:14Speaker 3: Right?
- 5:14Speaker 4: You know, Heaven forbid if the flood does, it's a
- 5:17Speaker 4: total loss, and as a result of a flood event,
- 5:21Speaker 4: you're going to get you know, thirty forty fifty thousand
- 5:24Speaker 4: dollars as a result of that, as opposed to and
- 5:26Speaker 4: pay off your loan. Right, the bank's going to be
- 5:29Speaker 4: paid first, obviously, But if you just get flood insurance
- 5:33Speaker 4: for the amount of your loan right in those first three,
- 5:37Speaker 4: four or five years, as you know, those that you
- 5:38Speaker 4: don't eat into that principle too much on a loan
- 5:41Speaker 4: those first four or five years, you could be upside down,
- 5:44Speaker 4: or having an event where you're still cutting a check
- 5:47Speaker 4: after having such a catastrophic event occur to your family.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and there's a lot of I mean that just
- 5:52Speaker 2: makes sense. First of all, I mean, you never want
- 5:54Speaker 2: to have something be right up against you know, with
- 5:56Speaker 2: no margin of error. And I mean material as that
- 5:58Speaker 2: we've experienced a the last especially a decade or so,
- 6:02Speaker 2: materials increase in costs. If you're looking to replace your
- 6:04Speaker 2: home in ten years that you've built in twenty sixteen,
- 6:07Speaker 2: or in twenty thirty six that you built in twenty
- 6:09Speaker 2: twenty six the materials aren't going to cost the same
- 6:10Speaker 2: that two hundred thousand dollars house is. It's still going
- 6:12Speaker 2: to be a two hundred thousand dollar house.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Exactly exactly. And we were in the first rule of
- 6:15Speaker 4: insurance is indemnity, right to return you back to the
- 6:18Speaker 4: way you were, no better, no worse than before the incident, right,
- 6:22Speaker 4: and if you get the exact same amount. I'm seeing
- 6:24Speaker 4: this a lot, you know, I see it. You know,
- 6:25Speaker 4: I love my mortgage lenders. They do such an amazing
- 6:28Speaker 4: job for the foundation of our country. But you know,
- 6:31Speaker 4: you need an insurance agent involved in that process. And
- 6:34Speaker 4: a competent insurance agent that's going to tell you the truth. Right,
- 6:37Speaker 4: you can't buy a house for two hundred thousand dollars
- 6:40Speaker 4: and put two hundred thousand dollars flood insurance on it.
- 6:42Speaker 3: You need two forty two fifty, you.
- 6:44Speaker 4: Know, two thirty five even, you know, but something above that,
- 6:48Speaker 4: above what the bank's going to get.
- 6:49Speaker 3: We're not.
- 6:50Speaker 4: You're not paying that insurance for the bank. You know,
- 6:52Speaker 4: although you want to cover the bank because you have
- 6:54Speaker 4: a mortgage, right, that's that's your your personal duty, right,
- 6:57Speaker 4: you have responsibility to cover that loan, but you also
- 7:00Speaker 4: have responsibility to yourself, right and to make sure that
- 7:03Speaker 4: you are you know, you know, covered properly, right, and
- 7:08Speaker 4: so that you get some benefit out of the policy
- 7:09Speaker 4: that you're paying for each moment.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Yeah, you bring up a perspective there that I don't
- 7:14Speaker 2: know if it's unique or if more people that when
- 7:17Speaker 2: they're looking at their insurance need to take this perspective.
- 7:19Speaker 2: But I think a lot of people, at least I've
- 7:21Speaker 2: made this mistake before I'm getting this insurance because I
- 7:23Speaker 2: want to make sure that the bank can't come after
- 7:26Speaker 2: me if once if something happens in my car or
- 7:28Speaker 2: my home or whatever it might be, which is true,
- 7:31Speaker 2: but also you need to understand that is also for you.
- 7:34Speaker 2: It's not just because you're doing it for the bank.
- 7:35Speaker 2: You want to make sure that you are going to
- 7:37Speaker 2: be made whole, that you're going to have everything you
- 7:39Speaker 2: need on the back side of things. And the difference
- 7:41Speaker 2: in coverage that you need, using your example of two
- 7:43Speaker 2: hundred thousand dollars, in the difference between that and two
- 7:45Speaker 2: hundred and forty thousand dollars, I'm guessing I don't know
- 7:48Speaker 2: it off the top of my head, is probably not
- 7:49Speaker 2: that much. Seven dollars a month there, you go, right,
- 7:51Speaker 2: So why wouldn't you want to take care of yourself
- 7:54Speaker 2: and not just the bank? It doesn't make any sense.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Yeah, And when you think I've been doing this twenty
- 7:58Speaker 4: years and in twenty years you're ready to deal. I've
- 8:01Speaker 4: never seen another. I've never seen a person come to
- 8:05Speaker 4: us with flood insurance and it not be for their
- 8:07Speaker 4: loan amount.
- 8:08Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 8:09Speaker 3: I think it's never happened. Now.
- 8:11Speaker 4: My my VP, Chris Spangler, who's a flood expert in
- 8:13Speaker 4: our in our office, he's out of our Huntington office,
- 8:16Speaker 4: you know, he you know he started this principle in
- 8:18Speaker 4: our agency, goes Don. We got to put two forty
- 8:20Speaker 4: five on this. We got to cover other structures, right,
- 8:23Speaker 4: because what if, right, I've never seen another I'm not
- 8:26Speaker 4: you know, I love my agents, they're my guys. I've
- 8:29Speaker 4: never seen another policy come in our doors with other
- 8:32Speaker 4: structures coverage on a flood policy. So what if that
- 8:36Speaker 4: detached garage is the only thing that's flooded and damaged
- 8:40Speaker 4: right in a flood event, right, and you don't have
- 8:43Speaker 4: other structures covered? How do you remediate that? How do
- 8:46Speaker 4: you fix that? How do you recover from that? How
- 8:48Speaker 4: are you indemnified? Well, actually you're not because you don't
- 8:50Speaker 4: have the coverage. If I'm not mistaken, I knew somebody.
- 8:53Speaker 4: I don't know exactly how this played out, but if
- 8:55Speaker 4: I'm not mistaken, it had somebody in my family who
- 8:58Speaker 4: was fouling acclaim after that hell storm that came in,
- 9:01Speaker 4: and with their home owner's coverage, they had four out buildings, right,
- 9:06Speaker 4: and they couldn't get all of them like, they couldn't
- 9:09Speaker 4: make all of those buildings right again because the coverage
- 9:12Speaker 4: was not enough to replace that. Yeah, there's some big
- 9:15Speaker 4: things with hell and windstorms that we do that are
- 9:17Speaker 4: a lot different as well. You know, we can touch
- 9:19Speaker 4: on that as well.
- 9:19Speaker 2: So so the flooding principle would work the same. There,
- 9:22Speaker 2: so the same oversight that they didn't think about. Hey,
- 9:24Speaker 2: I have this, this powered garage that has all my
- 9:26Speaker 2: tools in it. I have this floods. It may be
- 9:29Speaker 2: the only thing that floods in a flood event. And
- 9:31Speaker 2: you didn't put other structures because you were just trying
- 9:34Speaker 2: to get through the loan process, you know, and which
- 9:37Speaker 2: you know, it's everyone's dream to own a home, still
- 9:39Speaker 2: the American dream, but in the process, you want to
- 9:41Speaker 2: make sure that American dream is covered. Well, let's briefly
- 9:44Speaker 2: pivot to talk about other type of damage. They're not
- 9:46Speaker 2: just flood then, because it doesn't match with what we
- 9:48Speaker 2: had in this area here recently with hell damage, same
- 9:51Speaker 2: type of thing. It's not flood insurance. But you want
- 9:53Speaker 2: to make sure that those other structures are covered.
- 9:54Speaker 4: Yeah, and you know one thing that we do, Liberty
- 9:57Speaker 4: Mutual does a great job of it, and so do
- 10:00Speaker 4: many other carriers, but Liberty in particular comes to mind.
- 10:02Speaker 4: So it's the matching of undamaged siding, roofing in windows. Right,
- 10:07Speaker 4: So think about this. Here's your scenario. You have a
- 10:10Speaker 4: hell event or a windstorm event, and let's call it,
- 10:12Speaker 4: twenty five percent or thirty five percent of your roof
- 10:15Speaker 4: is damaged, right, And the roofers are out and they're
- 10:18Speaker 4: given quotes, and of course the quotes are a little
- 10:19Speaker 4: high because it's a it's been a huge event and
- 10:22Speaker 4: everyone needs a new roof, and everybody's panicked, right, as
- 10:25Speaker 4: you should be, because something's happened to your largest tangible possession.
- 10:30Speaker 4: And let's say thirty five percent of roof damage and
- 10:33Speaker 4: that's nine thousand dollars hypothetically. But what about the other
- 10:38Speaker 4: part of your roof that is not covered as a
- 10:40Speaker 4: result of this event, right, potentially not covered, right, because
- 10:42Speaker 4: your roof may have been depreciated. It could be an
- 10:45Speaker 4: older roof.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Right.
- 10:47Speaker 4: So we put on most of our policies matching of
- 10:50Speaker 4: undamaged siding, roofing, and windows, right, because the areas that
- 10:55Speaker 4: aren't damaged, you'd like those to match your new roof.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:59Speaker 4: I don't want you don't want thirty five percent of
- 11:01Speaker 4: your roof for twenty five percent of your roof. And
- 11:02Speaker 4: I'm not an adjuster, but you know, you don't want
- 11:04Speaker 4: twenty five percent of your roof to be brand new, right,
- 11:07Speaker 4: And typically roofs are depreciated over years. And there's probably
- 11:09Speaker 4: been some other events that didn't cause any damage, right,
- 11:12Speaker 4: but it calls it it it it altered the roofs,
- 11:16Speaker 4: you know, normal and brand new look right. And so
- 11:20Speaker 4: as a result of that, if you don't have un
- 11:21Speaker 4: if you don't have matching of undamaged siding, roof in
- 11:24Speaker 4: or windows, right, those undamaged parts could be excluded from
- 11:27Speaker 4: the coverage. And so we make sure to look at
- 11:29Speaker 4: those things. You know, people call me every single day,
- 11:32Speaker 4: I'm talking ten, twelve, fifteen times a day and I go,
- 11:35Speaker 4: what has you call them? They go, I want a
- 11:37Speaker 4: better price? Well what about better coverage?
- 11:40Speaker 3: Right?
- 11:40Speaker 4: And you know I always tell people it's a lot more.
- 11:44Speaker 4: It's a bigger savings for me to add a twenty
- 11:46Speaker 4: thousand dollars covered event than it is for me to
- 11:48Speaker 4: save you twenty five dollars a month.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a great way to look at it. And
- 11:52Speaker 2: you only have to tap into one of those things
- 11:53Speaker 2: once really and and uh and plus the peace of
- 11:57Speaker 2: mind that it gives you on top of that regardless,
- 11:59Speaker 2: So I mean, it's it's it's such a great, great
- 12:02Speaker 2: perspective to have to make sure that you're fully covered.
- 12:05Speaker 4: And as you say, it only costs you, you know,
- 12:06Speaker 4: ten twelve is only going to be ten dollars to
- 12:08Speaker 4: endorse that twelve dollars to endorse it. I'd rather spend
- 12:11Speaker 4: that one hundred and fifty bucks and have an extra
- 12:13Speaker 4: twenty thousand dollars covers and save you know, ten dollars
- 12:16Speaker 4: a month.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Man. That is such a great point. As we're talking
- 12:18Speaker 2: about other structures and stuff as well, and like like
- 12:22Speaker 2: you said, that can come pass all kinds of days.
- 12:24Speaker 2: It could be a garage, could be an outbuilding, gazebos,
- 12:26Speaker 2: something that you have out there just to sit and
- 12:27Speaker 2: drink your coffee on. But also a lot of times
- 12:30Speaker 2: we put things in those so you have your power
- 12:33Speaker 2: tools that are in one of the outbuildings that you have,
- 12:35Speaker 2: or maybe you have a collectibles building where you have
- 12:37Speaker 2: something like that in it. Another thing that people might
- 12:39Speaker 2: want to make sure that they have is not just
- 12:41Speaker 2: their principal property dwelling materials covered, but everything.
- 12:46Speaker 3: They want to cover everything. And again I've not.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Seen a flood insurance policy with coverage B, which is
- 12:52Speaker 4: other structures or coverage C which is personal property included
- 12:55Speaker 4: on the policy. I'm talking twenty years man. You know,
- 12:58Speaker 4: I haven't seen it one time. Wow, to think about that,
- 13:01Speaker 4: I've walked to somebody walks in and goes, I need
- 13:02Speaker 4: a new flood policy. Give me a new quote, don
- 13:05Speaker 4: and it has you know, it's just a loan amount
- 13:08Speaker 4: one hundred two hundred thousand dollars and then there's no
- 13:10Speaker 4: other coverage and a five thousand dollars deductible. So you
- 13:12Speaker 4: have one hundred ninety five thousand dollars in coverage and
- 13:15Speaker 4: your personal belongings aren't protected, Your other structures aren't protected.
- 13:17Speaker 4: And quite frankly, you're not protected. The bank is, and
- 13:20Speaker 4: the bank's grateful for that, and you should cover the bank.
- 13:23Speaker 4: But you should also cover yourself and the things that
- 13:25Speaker 4: are near and dear to your heart.
- 13:26Speaker 3: You know, those.
- 13:27Speaker 4: Electronics, that furniture, you know, all of your all your clothing. Right,
- 13:33Speaker 4: what if that stuff gets damaged in a flood event
- 13:35Speaker 4: and you didn't your agent didn't advise you because you
- 13:38Speaker 4: didn't know to do it right, to add personal property
- 13:41Speaker 4: to your flood policy.
- 13:42Speaker 2: It does it matter? For example, I have a neighbor
- 13:44Speaker 2: that created a she shed out of out of basically
- 13:48Speaker 2: a drive in detached garage. A couple of years ago,
- 13:53Speaker 2: are alley flooded and then water got into that garage
- 13:57Speaker 2: via the alley. I don't know what his situated, I
- 13:59Speaker 2: don't know any about it, but it made me think
- 14:01Speaker 2: on that type of situation. If you're covered, but you
- 14:04Speaker 2: have a detached building that gets flooded, is the contents
- 14:06Speaker 2: and that going to be covered?
- 14:08Speaker 3: The cover se on there? Yeah?
- 14:09Speaker 4: None, There's some things obviously, you've got like a huge
- 14:12Speaker 4: amount of collectibles, right, you got your bourbon collection out there,
- 14:15Speaker 4: your gun collection. That could be you know, an event
- 14:18Speaker 4: that an adjuster could look at and you know, take
- 14:20Speaker 4: a different approach. But for the most part, if you've
- 14:22Speaker 4: got personal property on the home, on the flood policy
- 14:25Speaker 4: and there's a flood event, right, that stuff's going.
- 14:27Speaker 3: To be covered.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I just can't imagine somebody who thinks that they were covered,
- 14:31Speaker 2: that they did all the things right, and they have
- 14:34Speaker 2: a catastrophic event that happens to them. Maybe they can
- 14:36Speaker 2: get their structure taken care of and have it rebuilt. Okay,
- 14:39Speaker 2: that's great, But not a single thing that they've lost
- 14:41Speaker 2: within the houses covered, or or such a small fraction
- 14:44Speaker 2: of it, and suddenly you find yourself without you know,
- 14:47Speaker 2: comforts that you were used to at one point.
- 14:49Speaker 3: That's an event of crisis.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Yeah, you don't want to and I always tell people
- 14:52Speaker 4: I've been saying this for twenty years. You want to
- 14:53Speaker 4: pre plan that crisis plan, right, and everybody wants to
- 14:57Speaker 4: coverage after the event happens. Right, So we want to
- 14:59Speaker 4: make sure that you know, if you have flood insurance,
- 15:01Speaker 4: you're listening out there, your own a secondary residence or
- 15:04Speaker 4: your primary residence is in a flood zone, you know,
- 15:07Speaker 4: feel free to stop by, you know, or call us.
- 15:10Speaker 3: You know.
- 15:11Speaker 4: We can go line by line through your flood policy.
- 15:13Speaker 4: And we have a technology that will put your current
- 15:16Speaker 4: documents in to a system side by side with the
- 15:20Speaker 4: quote that we're proposing, so that you can kind of
- 15:22Speaker 4: see the pros and cons, right, we give it to you, honest,
- 15:25Speaker 4: We're not going to you know, try to sugarcoat things,
- 15:27Speaker 4: but we're going to make sure that you see a
- 15:29Speaker 4: side by side comparison or where you're currently at, you know,
- 15:31Speaker 4: for whatever price that is to what we're going to offer.
- 15:34Speaker 2: And that's great information and It really gives you some
- 15:36Speaker 2: confidence going into any of these discussions that you have
- 15:39Speaker 2: all the information that you need. We'll take a break
- 15:41Speaker 2: here and when we come back, we still have things
- 15:42Speaker 2: we're going to talk about. For one thing, whenever you're
- 15:45Speaker 2: looking into how to budget correctly and things to do
- 15:48Speaker 2: to help you pay off your debts, how to save
- 15:50Speaker 2: a little bit of money every month, one of the
- 15:51Speaker 2: top tips that you always see is to shop your insurance.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Make sure that your insurance rates are okay, because a
- 15:57Speaker 2: lot of people leave them out there for a long time.
- 15:59Speaker 2: You get your insuran and years later you're still paying
- 16:01Speaker 2: the same rate. You haven't looked at anything now that
- 16:04Speaker 2: could be a problem, but not with Capital Insurance Group,
- 16:06Speaker 2: and we'll explain why when we come back. A very
- 16:08Speaker 2: smart program that they have that they can help you
- 16:11Speaker 2: with there, and if you have any questions in the meantime,

- 16:17Speaker 2: bit about the Wishop program when we come back. Also,
- 16:19Speaker 2: what having an independent agent working for you, why that
- 16:22Speaker 2: makes a difference. We're going to discuss those things and
- 16:24Speaker 2: anything that you want to talk about. When we come back,

- 18:41Speaker 2: I was mentioning how a lot of the places where
- 18:44Speaker 2: you look for you know, how to get your budget
- 18:46Speaker 2: under control, top tips on how to save some money
- 18:48Speaker 2: every month, and stuff like that. Right below like canceling
- 18:51Speaker 2: streaming services that you don't need anymore, is checking your insurance.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Make sure that you're that you're properly insured. Number one,
- 18:57Speaker 2: that you're properly insured so you can save yourself from
- 19:00Speaker 2: catastrophic loss at some point. But also to make sure
- 19:02Speaker 2: that you know, I mean, if you've been paying your
- 19:04Speaker 2: insurance on time for a long time, you have good credit,
- 19:06Speaker 2: different things along those lines, your rates might be adjusted
- 19:10Speaker 2: in some way, shape or form, and unless you check
- 19:12Speaker 2: those things, you're not going to know. And that's one
- 19:14Speaker 2: of the things that Capital Insurance Group does do. You
- 19:16Speaker 2: never let you let your clients hang and you're always
- 19:18Speaker 2: looking for what's going to help them out best.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Yeah, what we developed about six or seven years ago
- 19:23Speaker 4: is the we shop program man and we enroll each
- 19:26Speaker 4: and every one of our clients in the WE Shop program.
- 19:29Speaker 4: And what that says is, we're going to look at
- 19:31Speaker 4: your renewal every single year, right, and if it goes up,
- 19:35Speaker 4: your premiums go up higher than they should.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 19:38Speaker 4: We go back out and we're your personal insurance shoper.
- 19:41Speaker 4: Think of Instacart for your insurance. We go out and
- 19:45Speaker 4: look for new rates and then we call you back.
- 19:47Speaker 4: We just call three clients just this week that all
- 19:51Speaker 4: saved over one thousand dollars a year.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Wow.
- 19:53Speaker 4: And didn't have to change agencies, didn't have to change agents,
- 19:56Speaker 4: didn't have to change where they're calling, who's servicing their
- 19:59Speaker 4: po It is just the rates change. And then another
- 20:02Speaker 4: thing that happens is we add carriers. Right, we have
- 20:05Speaker 4: Geico as a new partner, Liberty Mutual is a new partner.
- 20:08Speaker 4: We've got a company by the name Eliminade Insurance that
- 20:10Speaker 4: specializes in runners and bet and auto and home. You know,
- 20:14Speaker 4: we're constantly adding carriers, constantly growing. And the WII Shop
- 20:17Speaker 4: program gives you access to a personal insurance professional to
- 20:21Speaker 4: do personal insurance shopping for you, to ensure that the
- 20:24Speaker 4: insurance companies are doing right by you. Because we work
- 20:27Speaker 4: for you, not the insurance carrier.
- 20:29Speaker 2: If you think about that, just if you step out
- 20:31Speaker 2: of that and look at maybe what your situation is,
- 20:33Speaker 2: not you, but the listener out there. Right, if you
- 20:36Speaker 2: have a just because we have to make a difference,
- 20:40Speaker 2: If you have a captive agent, somebody who works for
- 20:43Speaker 2: ACME Insurance and they write only for Acme Insurance is
- 20:46Speaker 2: a fine company.
- 20:47Speaker 3: There's no doubt they do a great job.
- 20:48Speaker 2: But next year when it comes time to look and
- 20:51Speaker 2: see if you're if if your policy has changed in
- 20:55Speaker 2: any way, if your premiums do increase, there's really nowhere
- 20:58Speaker 2: else for you to go. If you're with ACME Insurance,
- 21:01Speaker 2: Acme Insurance has the products that they're going to offer you.
- 21:03Speaker 2: That may be it the thing with you and with
- 21:06Speaker 2: Capital Insurance Group and we shop. You have a great
- 21:08Speaker 2: relationship with all these carriers. But if ACME Insurance goes
- 21:11Speaker 2: up a little bit and you think it's not proper,
- 21:14Speaker 2: you have all these other carriers that you can look
- 21:15Speaker 2: forward to to get the same coverage or better even
- 21:18Speaker 2: and save money. If that's what it comes to.
- 21:20Speaker 4: What I'd like to say is you can't hire a
- 21:21Speaker 4: captive agent, right heah, he or she already works for
- 21:25Speaker 4: someone acme insurance, right, exactly who's interest And it's just
- 21:29Speaker 4: as simple as the dictionary.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Right.
- 21:31Speaker 4: The dictionary definition of a captive agent is a license
- 21:34Speaker 4: representative who represents the interest of an insurance carrier. Think
- 21:39Speaker 4: about that, So let me say that again. A captive
- 21:42Speaker 4: agent in the dictionary is a license insurance representative that
- 21:46Speaker 4: represents the interest of the insurance carrier. What's an independent
- 21:51Speaker 4: agent in the dictionary? A license representative that represents the
- 21:55Speaker 4: interests of their clients. So I work for my clients,
- 21:59Speaker 4: not insurance carriers. I keep the insurance carriers honest, right,
- 22:02Speaker 4: not that they're not honest, but if they ever do
- 22:04Speaker 4: something that you don't like, guess what. I don't work
- 22:07Speaker 4: for them. I work for you. You hired me, not them,
- 22:10Speaker 4: And my loyalty is to you, not the carrier.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Right.
- 22:13Speaker 4: How do we do that? We have a large book
- 22:15Speaker 4: of business with each carrier, of course, because we do
- 22:17Speaker 4: right by our clients and by the carriers. But at
- 22:20Speaker 4: the same time, our loyalty is to our clients and
- 22:22Speaker 4: not an insurance carrier.
- 22:23Speaker 2: And that's something. And you've explained this to me before.
- 22:25Speaker 2: And one of the things I found so profound. If
- 22:27Speaker 2: you have ACME Insurance as as your insurance carrier, and
- 22:30Speaker 2: you also have something that's a little bit outside the
- 22:33Speaker 2: realm of normal. Maybe you have a great baseball card collection,
- 22:35Speaker 2: or you have some diamonds that are like heirlooms or
- 22:38Speaker 2: something along those lines, or maybe firearms, you know, whatever
- 22:42Speaker 2: it might be. You're going to your insurance, your captive
- 22:45Speaker 2: agent with ACME Insurance, they will say, okay, we'll ensure whatever.
- 22:48Speaker 2: This is your baseball card collection. You think it's worth
- 22:51Speaker 2: fifty thousand dollars, fine, we'll insure for okay, So that
- 22:53Speaker 2: insurance is there if something happens. But from what you've
- 22:56Speaker 2: explained to me, once you get down into the weeds,
- 22:58Speaker 2: ACME Insurance themselves may not really specialize in firearms or
- 23:02Speaker 2: baseball cards or something like that. So when you come
- 23:04Speaker 2: to say it providing them with proof of what you have,
- 23:06Speaker 2: they don't have that expertise to make sure that you're
- 23:08Speaker 2: made whole on that exactly.
- 23:10Speaker 4: We don't pretend that any client can be any everything
- 23:12Speaker 4: to everyone, right, So we have Jewelers Mutual for Jewelry Insurance,
- 23:16Speaker 4: which is you know, kind of makes sense, right, And
- 23:18Speaker 4: then we have American collectors for collectibles, right, makes sense. Right,
- 23:23Speaker 4: And then we have Progressive and Geico and Liberty Mutual
- 23:26Speaker 4: and Triple A and Grange and all these other carriers Travelers,
- 23:30Speaker 4: Hartford Local in Cova. You know, we work with all
- 23:33Speaker 4: of these carriers that do so much, you know, and
- 23:35Speaker 4: do such a great job by our clients. But we
- 23:37Speaker 4: don't pretend that those one carriers can do absolutely everything
- 23:40Speaker 4: for everyone in every situation.
- 23:42Speaker 3: They have specialties, right. You know.
- 23:43Speaker 4: It's just like in football. You know, Patrick Mahomes doesn't
- 23:47Speaker 4: punt the ball for the Kansas. They bring the punter
- 23:50Speaker 4: in for that, right you know. You know, if if
- 23:53Speaker 4: the Golden State Wars need somebody to get a post move,
- 23:55Speaker 4: they don't call them Steph Curry, right, And so we
- 23:58Speaker 4: don't do this. We do the exact same while in
- 24:00Speaker 4: COVID is amazing at what they do the things they
- 24:03Speaker 4: don't do. Right, we called on another carry to step
- 24:05Speaker 4: in and handle that portion of the insurance for you.
- 24:08Speaker 2: And if you just think about that as a consumer
- 24:11Speaker 2: out there, it makes so much sense. But I don't
- 24:13Speaker 2: think most people have been shown that path in the past.
- 24:17Speaker 2: You know, they think, well, here's my insurance company, I'll
- 24:19Speaker 2: get all this stuff that I need from them as
- 24:21Speaker 2: well as I can. And then they find themselves in
- 24:23Speaker 2: a situation where they have something that's a really unique
- 24:26Speaker 2: item and they're having a hard time explaining the value
- 24:28Speaker 2: of it or where to go for it or anything
- 24:30Speaker 2: like that. They could really eliminate a lot of that question.
- 24:33Speaker 4: You know, it's almost common sense, but we just haven't adjusted.
- 24:37Speaker 4: Our consumer behavior hasn't adjusted fully. Right At one point,
- 24:41Speaker 4: we're using a rotary phone or a payphone, and now
- 24:43Speaker 4: we have you know, our cars can do all that stuff,
- 24:46Speaker 4: you know, And it's the same way with insurance. You know,
- 24:49Speaker 4: eighty five years ago, sixty years ago, fifty years ago,
- 24:52Speaker 4: you stayed with the captive agent. The captive agent did
- 24:54Speaker 4: right by you. He was in he or she was
- 24:56Speaker 4: in the community and all that stuff. And now it's
- 24:58Speaker 4: independent agents leading charge right making sure that you have
- 25:02Speaker 4: the best rates, the best coverages, and that if something
- 25:05Speaker 4: does happen, we're right there to go through that process
- 25:08Speaker 4: with you.
- 25:08Speaker 2: And I have to think and the era that we're
- 25:11Speaker 2: in right now, especially I say younger people, but that's
- 25:14Speaker 2: just because I'm getting old. But there's a whole there's
- 25:18Speaker 2: a whole generation of people out there that kind of
- 25:20Speaker 2: I mean, whatever you want to call it, whether it's
- 25:21Speaker 2: gig work or whatever else, people put together their lifestyle.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Maybe they don't have a forty hour week job, but
- 25:27Speaker 2: they work a little bit doing something. Then they do
- 25:29Speaker 2: some uber maybe they have some online stuff where they
- 25:32Speaker 2: make some money with some engagement that they're doing online,
- 25:34Speaker 2: and all these different income streams come together and they
- 25:36Speaker 2: have a fine livelihood. But trying to find somebody when
- 25:39Speaker 2: it comes to ensuring that lifestyle. Well, I drive my
- 25:43Speaker 2: car a little bit for business, and I have this
- 25:45Speaker 2: studio in my home that I use for business a
- 25:48Speaker 2: little bit.
- 25:49Speaker 4: I mean, that gets complicated pretty quick, it does, and
- 25:52Speaker 4: you need a licensed professional and a guide you through that.
- 25:54Speaker 4: Right in my opinion, independent agent, true independent, that's not
- 25:58Speaker 4: working for any one carrier that you can hire. Why
- 26:01Speaker 4: would you not hire your own insurance agent versus having
- 26:05Speaker 4: someone work almost against you. You know, they provide the coverage.
- 26:09Speaker 4: But if there's a fight between you and that carrier
- 26:12Speaker 4: and you have a captive agent, they're gonna side with
- 26:14Speaker 4: their employer every time, right whereas me, I'm want to
- 26:16Speaker 4: side with you because you're my client and you're you're
- 26:19Speaker 4: my boss, right, I have you know, ten thousand bosses
- 26:22Speaker 4: running around, and so yeah, it's important to have that expertise.
- 26:27Speaker 4: Right now, I've got twenty years. My staff's got to
- 26:28Speaker 4: combine over forty years of experience, and so having us
- 26:32Speaker 4: on you, you know, lack of a better word, on
- 26:34Speaker 4: your side is a good thing, right, And the we
- 26:38Speaker 4: Shop program allows us.
- 26:40Speaker 3: To go back. We do that any review.
- 26:42Speaker 4: Hey, mister and missus Jones, your policy state the same
- 26:45Speaker 4: this this year, but let's take a look again next year.
- 26:48Speaker 4: You know, if you got any questions or concerns, feel
- 26:50Speaker 4: free to give us a call.
- 26:51Speaker 3: Right.
- 26:52Speaker 4: But not having that right and not knowing I just
- 26:54Speaker 4: seen a client with a captive carrier who the their
- 26:57Speaker 4: homeowners started out at like thirteen hundred bucks, you know,
- 27:00Speaker 4: thirteen year, fourteen years ago, and it was twenty seven
- 27:03Speaker 4: hundred dollars and they never knew they were escrow and
- 27:06Speaker 4: it just crept up on them.
- 27:07Speaker 3: We won't let that happen to you.
- 27:09Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's one of the great benefits with that
- 27:11Speaker 2: because you never know what happens with I mean, once
- 27:12Speaker 2: you're an escrow, that's like blind money. I mean, you
- 27:15Speaker 2: get the notification maybe your payment went up a little bit.
- 27:17Speaker 2: And the thing is, if it only goes up three
- 27:19Speaker 2: or four dollars a year, or eight or nine dollars
- 27:21Speaker 2: a year or something like that, you don't maybe think
- 27:23Speaker 2: about it. But over the course of right, fifteen years
- 27:25Speaker 2: and suddenly it's gone up one hundred and fifty dollars, Well,
- 27:28Speaker 2: why in the heck has it gone up so much?
- 27:29Speaker 3: Sixty dollars a year for twenty years?
- 27:31Speaker 2: Yeah, right, it starts getting up there, and so it's
- 27:33Speaker 2: worth it's worth it to do that. And as you've
- 27:36Speaker 2: said many times on this show before, and it's so true,
- 27:38Speaker 2: and today especially, there's just there's no cookie cutter situations anymore.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Like you can't take a perfect frame of something and
- 27:46Speaker 2: drop it over a family or an individual and be like, ah,
- 27:48Speaker 2: you're perfect right.
- 27:49Speaker 4: Out the door. That's a great example. You know, sixty
- 27:51Speaker 4: years ago families all look the same, right, and now
- 27:54Speaker 4: they don't. And so your insurance has to be just
- 27:56Speaker 4: as unique as you are right in and make sure
- 27:58Speaker 4: that those coverages are or are provided for.
- 28:01Speaker 3: The things that you have that are unique to you, right, And.
- 28:03Speaker 4: Nothing's more important than your home and your autos and
- 28:06Speaker 4: making sure that your personal assets are adequately and properly covered.
- 28:09Speaker 4: We're going to give you a full review for free.
- 28:12Speaker 4: Everything's free with us. Our time is free. You know,
- 28:14Speaker 4: you can come in and meet with me for an
- 28:17Speaker 4: iron and not be charged the thing.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Right, it's a free review.
- 28:20Speaker 4: And like I said, we would give you a side
- 28:21Speaker 4: by sick comparison the pros and cons of each coverage
- 28:25Speaker 4: and that's all free. And you know, what we're trying
- 28:28Speaker 4: to do is make sure that everyone's educated prior to
- 28:30Speaker 4: the claim, because the last thing you want.
- 28:32Speaker 3: To do is find out you don't have that coverage
- 28:34Speaker 3: when the claim happened.
- 28:35Speaker 2: And if you're out there, you might be a little
- 28:36Speaker 2: bit maybe a little confused. You're thinking of all the
- 28:38Speaker 2: insurance companies that you see on TV. You're like, wait
- 28:40Speaker 2: a minute, is the Capital Insurance? Is that? Is that
- 28:42Speaker 2: the one with the with the lizard? Is that the
- 28:44Speaker 2: one with the vikings? Is that the one with the
- 28:47Speaker 2: guy that wears the red shirt? What in the heck? Go?
- 28:50Speaker 2: Who is Capital?
- 28:51Speaker 1: No?
- 28:51Speaker 2: No, no, no no no. Those are all the people that
- 28:54Speaker 2: you can get to work for you, right, Those aren't
- 28:56Speaker 2: those aren't that you aren't those people? You could get
- 28:58Speaker 2: those people to work for you, but not exclusively. They
- 29:00Speaker 2: all play all.
- 29:01Speaker 4: They all, they all come to visit Capital Insurance Group,
- 29:03Speaker 4: from Flow to the Gecko to Mayhem, they're all. They've
- 29:07Speaker 4: all been at Capitol and Insurance Group one way or another.
- 29:10Speaker 4: You know, we work with some All States you know,
- 29:13Speaker 4: Carrier National General, Uh, you know, so we've got access
- 29:16Speaker 4: to pretty much every carrier and company that you see
- 29:19Speaker 4: on the commercials and some great carriers that don't have commercials.
- 29:22Speaker 4: But having all those tools and the tools shit help
- 29:24Speaker 4: us help our clients and do to you know, what's
- 29:26Speaker 4: best for them in each situation.
- 29:28Speaker 2: You touched on this just a second ago, but I
- 29:29Speaker 2: wanted to kind of highlight a little bit part of
- 29:31Speaker 2: like the Wei shop and things like that that you do,
- 29:33Speaker 2: and you talked about how and we also sometimes add carriers,
- 29:35Speaker 2: and I want to include that in sort of like
- 29:37Speaker 2: what maybe the medical profession calls continuing the education or
- 29:40Speaker 2: something along those lines. But but it's the same type
- 29:42Speaker 2: of thing. It's like you're constantly absorbing, like wait a minute,
- 29:46Speaker 2: I heard about this company that may do this or
- 29:47Speaker 2: may do this better. You're always looking for a solution
- 29:49Speaker 2: that's going to help your clients.
- 29:50Speaker 4: Always and then carriers come into the market, right. Uh
- 29:53Speaker 4: you know, uh, there are some new carriers that that
- 29:55Speaker 4: didn't used to write Homnado in West Virginia that are
- 29:58Speaker 4: currently moving into West Virginia do that.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Right.
- 30:00Speaker 4: So that's why that we shop program is so effective. Right,
- 30:03Speaker 4: We're gonna go in your rage go up ten twelve percent.
- 30:06Speaker 4: Our team goes back into the market, goes back in
- 30:09Speaker 4: and reshops for you. We put in our sweat equity,
- 30:11Speaker 4: and then we call you with the benefits.
- 30:13Speaker 7: Uh.
- 30:14Speaker 4: It really helped a ton of clients. Like I said this,
- 30:16Speaker 4: just this week, we had three clients save over one
- 30:18Speaker 4: thousand dollars a year. We had a client in Ohio
- 30:22Speaker 4: that came to us, you know, and wasn't working with us,
- 30:26Speaker 4: and saved over five thousand dollars.
- 30:28Speaker 3: That's incredible.
- 30:29Speaker 4: What about they had been with a captive carrier for
- 30:31Speaker 4: like seventeen years.
- 30:32Speaker 3: They called us.
- 30:33Speaker 4: Their total premium it crept up to like ten thousand dollars.
- 30:36Speaker 4: We got it for like forty three hundred or forty
- 30:38Speaker 4: four hundred dollars. So that's a huge game changer for them.
- 30:43Speaker 4: And we had them set up an emergency fund. You know,
- 30:45Speaker 4: you know, we're the Dave Ramsey. I'm the only agency
- 30:48Speaker 4: and the only agent in West Virginia endorsed by Dave
- 30:50Speaker 4: Ramsey and have been for the last decade. You know,
- 30:52Speaker 4: that says a lot about us, right, our integrity, you know,
- 30:55Speaker 4: and what we what we stand for.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Right, We're the only.
- 30:58Speaker 4: Agent, the only agent of the West virgin endorsed by
- 31:01Speaker 4: Dave Ramsey. So we want to help you, you know,
- 31:04Speaker 4: put that money back in your pocket and take it
- 31:05Speaker 4: out the insurance carrier's.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Pocket at all great points and something that you can
- 31:09Speaker 2: really use to put kind of put that power on
- 31:11Speaker 2: your side, because that's really what you do. Is such
- 31:15Speaker 2: a great education point as well, is that you explain
- 31:17Speaker 2: to your clients why it makes sense, the ways that
- 31:20Speaker 2: it is that you're going to help them, and ultimately speaking,
- 31:23Speaker 2: it doesn't take that much to figure it out. You
- 31:25Speaker 2: have a way that folks can go right to your
- 31:27Speaker 2: website and just put in their information and they can
- 31:28Speaker 2: get kind of an idea right away.
- 31:30Speaker 4: Yeah, you can go right to our website cigwv dot com,
- 31:33Speaker 4: or you can call us at three zero four nine
- 31:35Speaker 4: nine three save. But on the CIGWV dot com you
- 31:38Speaker 4: just get a quote. Now selected carrier that you're currently
- 31:42Speaker 4: with probably takes about I don't know, forty five seconds
- 31:44Speaker 4: to ninety seconds. It sends us your current documents and
- 31:48Speaker 4: then we can give you a full review for free
- 31:51Speaker 4: to see a comparison.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Right.
- 31:52Speaker 4: We may find some holes, we may find some things
- 31:55Speaker 4: that you need to improve on, but we want to
- 31:57Speaker 4: make sure that you're getting the best price, the best coverage,
- 31:59Speaker 4: and everything's covered properly.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Man, that's great. So so threes are a four nine
- 32:03Speaker 2: nine three. Save is the phone number that you can
- 32:06Speaker 2: go to if you want to talk to Capitol Insurance Groom,
- 32:09Speaker 2: and you can go right to the website at CIGWV
- 32:11Speaker 2: dot com. And also we've talked about this the last
- 32:14Speaker 2: time you were on the program. We also moved locations. Right.
- 32:16Speaker 4: We bought six oh seven Pennsylvania Avenue, so there's free parking.
- 32:21Speaker 4: We've got a two story building right on Pennsylvania Avenue.
- 32:24Speaker 4: We've got it, the building remodeled it. I always tell
- 32:26Speaker 4: my existing clients come and see the building that you purchased,
- 32:29Speaker 4: you know, because without my clients, I don't have that building.
- 32:32Speaker 4: And so, yeah, we're invested in the community. We're here
- 32:35Speaker 4: to stay. We're not going anywhere. Our headquarters are still
- 32:38Speaker 4: in West Virginia. We don't have fifteen employees over there
- 32:40Speaker 4: at that headquarters, and you know, licensed agents looking to
- 32:43Speaker 4: help you out and get you enrolled in that WEE
- 32:45Speaker 4: Shop program and save you some money.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Man, that's great information. Once again from Don Wilson, Capitol

- 33:47Speaker 2: Second part of this person's question, they were wondering how
- 33:49Speaker 2: much it costs them to switch.
- 33:51Speaker 3: It can only help you to say, yeah, yeah, that's
- 33:53Speaker 3: that's not the way it works.
- 33:54Speaker 4: It's only going to give you more coverage or it's
