- 0:22SPEAKER_00: This week we're celebrating the release of the book The Faith of Elvis, which I co-wrote with Billy Stanley, Elvis Presley's stepbrother.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Here on the podcast, I'm sharing a few lessons I've learned from working on this amazing project.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: You know, one of the difficulties of working on this book was that we had far more material than we could fit into it.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Billy had so many stories and insights about Elvis and his faith that the book could have easily been twice as long.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: And one of those items that we couldn't fit into the book was what Elvis called the universal law of insanity.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: When Billy was a teenager, Elvis once explained this principle to him, and he was trying to help Billy see that life gets much easier when you understand that everybody's a little bit crazy, including you.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Elvis had this wonderful gift of being able to relate to anyone, whether it was a person digging ditches or the president of the United States.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: I think we could use some of this insight today when people seem so divided, and we need to find common ground with people who don't see the world in the way that we do.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: So, in your dealings with your family, business partners, editors, designers, publishers, agents, readers, and other people who are part of your life as a writer, I think it's wise to remember that everybody sees the world a little bit different.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: We all have our own brand of crazy.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: We all live with our own brand of insanity.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: And I think understanding this can help you relate with people who don't see things quite the way that you do.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: So here's today's question.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Think of a few people in your everyday life.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: How could the universal law of insanity help you to get along with them better?
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: Well, the new book, The Faith of Elvis, just released and is now available at your local bookstore or your favorite online retailer.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Hope you pick it up, and I'd love to know what you think about it.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: You can shoot me an email at any time at Kent at DailyRiderLife.com.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Thanks for listening, and I'll see you tomorrow.
