- 3:15Speaker 1: was absolutely I don't know if you saw the visuals,
- 3:17Speaker 1: but I was just mogging my old man next day.
- 3:22Speaker 3: You see the difference in size there. He was slumped
- 3:24Speaker 3: a little bit.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I watch it I'm like, man, why did I never
- 3:27Speaker 1: take a shot at the title?
- 3:31Speaker 2: The way he was sitting in his chair. You do
- 3:34Speaker 2: look twice the sides of him. I know.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Maybe it was like the camerangle. I'm closer to the camera,
- 3:38Speaker 1: but I was absolutely magging him. But we'll talk about

- 5:22Speaker 3: Welcome to for the dads. We're fired to hell up.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Should we start with some follow ups? Because I caught
- 5:28Speaker 2: some flack in my follow up.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I have a dad shot out. I just want to start.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I want to rip off the top not from right
- 5:35Speaker 1: ends just my boy, my best man, my best friend.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, he just had their third child. They
- 5:43Speaker 1: waited to figure out the gender until delivery day.
- 5:47Speaker 3: But Luela Ann was just born nine pounds. She's a
- 5:53Speaker 3: let me see you.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I got the dats right here, stats three fifty am,
- 5:57Speaker 1: nine pounds, five ounces, twenty one inches long.

- 6:13Speaker 1: is my that is my that's my number one, that's
- 6:15Speaker 1: my ace.
- 6:17Speaker 2: For for any listeners. Nick is constantly brought up here
- 6:20Speaker 2: as Will's best childhood friend. I got the news through
- 6:27Speaker 2: a text message where we were actually texting about then
- 6:31Speaker 2: Dominican sue story that I told you about in the
- 6:34Speaker 2: parking which we may have to save for my all
- 6:39Speaker 2: this to say, I want to get Nick Hallett on
- 6:41Speaker 2: the pod bad. I'm putting it out there into the universe.
- 6:45Speaker 3: He's listening right now, you know, he smiled.
- 6:47Speaker 2: I know. I hope, hockey boy, I hope you had
- 6:49Speaker 2: a great bother's day. Do you want to talk about
- 6:51Speaker 2: some Willie ce gold mine stories that I've gotten from
- 6:54Speaker 2: this guy via text? Or call Nick Nick.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Nick's the one too, Nick, as Nick knows me better.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Than good storyteller, good story, good storyteller. I okay, So
- 7:07Speaker 2: I caught some flak and I'm really glad that you're here,
- 7:10Speaker 2: will because you're the perfect person to bounce this off of. Okay, Okay,
- 7:15Speaker 2: we had our sweet friend and I'm trying to think
- 7:19Speaker 2: of the way to say her name correctly. How did
- 7:24Speaker 2: we say it? Being a lope? Our sweet friend pen Lope?
- 7:30Speaker 2: I had a pen a lope situation last week.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Jess.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Her last name is spelled h A L B L
- 7:38Speaker 2: E I B. She she provided me, I'll be. She
- 7:44Speaker 2: provided me with a phonetically correct way to pronounce her
- 7:47Speaker 2: last name last week, and I read that name. Okay,
- 7:54Speaker 2: Apparently I read the phonetically correct way to say her
- 7:58Speaker 2: last name incorrectly. Jess said, I'm dying at the way
- 8:02Speaker 2: Sherman pronounced our last name. But happy almost birthday to
- 8:06Speaker 2: my hubby and best girl dad ever, Cody.
- 8:09Speaker 3: So are we saying happy birthday to Cody? You said
- 8:12Speaker 3: you want to run something by me.
- 8:13Speaker 2: What do you what's I messed it somehow I messed
- 8:15Speaker 2: up a phonetically correct way to say her last name.
- 8:19Speaker 1: You just you just chop it up. You just keep
- 8:20Speaker 1: it moving, Yeah, you keep it moving. Well, you said
- 8:22Speaker 1: at the very top of the episode. We're not experts,
- 8:24Speaker 1: we're not listening. We know blunders are coming on. I
- 8:27Speaker 1: see one here, this one right here from Zachary deson
- 8:32Speaker 1: eighteen sixty four.
- 8:33Speaker 3: This on YouTube.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Vandel just released the odds for a willy one self
- 8:35Speaker 1: to be able to read every email on the next
- 8:38Speaker 1: episode without messing up at plus twenty five hundred. I'm
- 8:42Speaker 1: taking it. I had Zachary decent. He said, I have
- 8:45Speaker 1: faith in the boy. Disrespectful by Fangel to be honest.
- 8:49Speaker 2: It's got Well, we're off to a hot start, Off.
- 8:51Speaker 3: To a hot start.
- 8:52Speaker 1: All pronunciation dad brain shit, Yes, I'll think a greasy gummies.
- 8:58Speaker 3: It's because I got I got a.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Shout out, no free shout out, actually, no free shoutouts
- 9:04Speaker 1: of this brain. By the way, they should they should
- 9:07Speaker 1: be with for the dads. And when they RPT six.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Is gonna love them.
- 9:10Speaker 2: They they gonna be reading everything just right.
- 9:13Speaker 1: They're gonna be tuning into the episode while popping the
- 9:16Speaker 1: gummies I got.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I could already see the custom socials.
- 9:18Speaker 1: You want to read the bedtime story the Little Little Guy? Yes,
- 9:23Speaker 1: oh my god, they have got to They've got to
- 9:26Speaker 1: be a partner with the boys.
- 9:29Speaker 2: They're just having a tough time reading a bedtime story.
- 9:31Speaker 2: They pop three of those creates. All of a sudden,
- 9:35Speaker 2: the reading glasses are on the bridge of the net.
- 9:37Speaker 1: We hit a roll call photo, come on on X
- 9:40Speaker 1: and just you got the gummies popped in ready to go.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Truly a bedtime story.
- 9:45Speaker 2: They they taste really good. I just house three of them.
- 9:48Speaker 1: JJ Smith here, JJ Smith says, showed my wife the
- 9:53Speaker 1: football game clip last week.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Her words, I would never do that to you. That
- 9:59Speaker 2: math in that situation ain't mathing. He should be going
- 10:03Speaker 2: to that game taking Sharam's side. We're a Michigan family,
- 10:06Speaker 2: by the way, go Blue and go Lions. A lot
- 10:09Speaker 2: of people sided with the boys.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Sherm out there, I got a segue.
- 10:13Speaker 2: We have a follow up from the follow up, that's
- 10:16Speaker 2: my whole wedding weekend story. Oh we got a second.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Will need to start practicing the shermacs. And this from
- 10:23Speaker 1: Tucker Casinger four sixty nine on YouTube. I'll work on
- 10:26Speaker 1: the I'm reading that past because I want to hear
- 10:30Speaker 1: is there a new there a new rendering to your
- 10:33Speaker 1: football weekend?
- 10:35Speaker 2: We got some news we got we got some news
- 10:38Speaker 2: that we got a job.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Did Papa Team six win you a battle?
- 10:44Speaker 2: I I will say this, Papa Team six opened the
- 10:48Speaker 2: eyes to my wife for compromising, for carrying out her
- 10:58Speaker 2: husband's side, that her husband isn't selfishly looking to go
- 11:03Speaker 2: to this football game because he thinks it's more important.
- 11:08Speaker 2: That we had already locked in some plans and bought
- 11:11Speaker 2: some and there was some purchase tickets, and we were
- 11:14Speaker 2: a little excited.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Yeah, because that planning happened months ago.
- 11:17Speaker 2: And there's there also is some opportunities for us to
- 11:22Speaker 2: split up and conquer both. There are some opportunities there.
- 11:26Speaker 2: It's not like it's impossible. Jill and I had a
- 11:29Speaker 2: great little whisper battle on the way up to dateon
- 11:33Speaker 2: Ohio as our sweet Scarlet Dad hack for anybody if
- 11:37Speaker 2: you got drive through the night, battime and battime straight
- 11:40Speaker 2: into car seat and you're off to the races on
- 11:43Speaker 2: the red trip, Scarlet slept all five hours to date,
- 11:46Speaker 2: Ohio from Nashville.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Oh my god, good for you.
- 11:49Speaker 2: It was incredible. Jill and I whisper battled back and forth.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Like a whisper argument.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Yeah, like a little whisper argument. And honestly, it wasn't
- 11:59Speaker 2: about the wedding stuff. It was about me prioritizing family.
- 12:07Speaker 2: It was about Jill wanting to be heard on certain
- 12:09Speaker 2: situations that I was doing a poor job. And this
- 12:12Speaker 2: is me truly saying this. I was doing a poor
- 12:15Speaker 2: job of.
- 12:15Speaker 3: Is she being vulnerable with the community.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Yeah, she's being vulnerable with the community. She was having
- 12:20Speaker 2: some great points on that. I then was able, not
- 12:24Speaker 2: in a manipulative way, but I used a great example
- 12:26Speaker 2: of the football game as a do you see from
- 12:31Speaker 2: my perspective how I could feel some way about that?
- 12:34Speaker 2: And I have agreed that I would go to the
- 12:36Speaker 2: to the birthday Yeah, but could you see that I
- 12:39Speaker 2: could feel some type of way about the football game
- 12:42Speaker 2: based on the things that you just told me? Sooner?
- 12:44Speaker 3: I'm hearing you, But are you are you also here?
- 12:47Speaker 5: Literally, I'm like, honey, I'm not mad at all. I'm
- 12:51Speaker 5: going to the birthday party. You make a lot of
- 12:53Speaker 5: great points, and you aren't making all the best.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Points in the entire world.
- 12:56Speaker 5: And by the way, you look very pissed off right now,
- 12:59Speaker 5: in a very beautiful way.
- 13:01Speaker 2: You look gorge Swiss.
- 13:03Speaker 3: Do you feel hurt?
- 13:04Speaker 2: Just before I see my next thing? Do you feel heard? Sweetheart?
- 13:08Speaker 1: And when she says it, okay, great, okay, good, okay,
- 13:11Speaker 1: if we can just pivot, do you also hear me
- 13:15Speaker 1: with a football game?
- 13:16Speaker 5: And when you feel hurd how does that make you feel?
- 13:18Speaker 5: That probably makes you feel really really good. And when
- 13:21Speaker 5: you don't feel heard, it sounds like from what you're
- 13:24Speaker 5: telling me, that makes you feel really bad.
- 13:27Speaker 2: That makes you.
- 13:27Speaker 5: Feel like you're not a priority to me. How do
- 13:31Speaker 5: you think I might feel if I'm not feeling hurt
- 13:33Speaker 5: about some things?
- 13:35Speaker 2: You're always talking about the football game. No, no, no, no,
- 13:39Speaker 2: scarlet back there. Oh she's good, she's good. Yeah, keep
- 13:44Speaker 2: it low. It's not about the football game.
- 13:46Speaker 5: That's just an example that is very impertinent to this situation.
- 13:50Speaker 2: But guess it was very recent. But what about the
- 13:56Speaker 2: football game? What are you saying? So then we talk
- 14:01Speaker 2: a little bit more once we get to Dayton. Yeah,
- 14:05Speaker 2: she says to me, you getting to go do what
- 14:10Speaker 2: you want to do and that what your interests are
- 14:14Speaker 2: is very important to me. I want you to have
- 14:18Speaker 2: things that you are passionate about and that you can
- 14:20Speaker 2: dive into. I also want to have things that I'm
- 14:23Speaker 2: passionate about and want to dive into. And these things
- 14:27Speaker 2: are important to us as separate human beings. Of like,
- 14:31Speaker 2: we are married together, we are one person, but we
- 14:34Speaker 2: have our separate interests, and we do bodies, two bodies,
- 14:39Speaker 2: one heart, one heart, and we want to be able
- 14:42Speaker 2: to pursue these things. And so Jill being able to
- 14:46Speaker 2: voice that to me in a really healthy way and really,
- 14:49Speaker 2: you know, opening my eyes up to hey, I do
- 14:51Speaker 2: need to do a better job of like giving Jill
- 14:55Speaker 2: the opportunity to prioritize herself and to lean into these
- 14:59Speaker 2: interests and her realizing, oh damn, the football game really
- 15:03Speaker 2: is a perfect example of that, because we could split
- 15:06Speaker 2: that up. So mother in law Lisa shout out, Lisa
- 15:11Speaker 2: shout out. Lisa says, what if I went with Jill
- 15:15Speaker 2: to the birthday party, she would be she would have
- 15:20Speaker 2: an extra set of hands in San Diego. I could
- 15:22Speaker 2: fly with her from Nashville. You know, I could drive
- 15:26Speaker 2: up to Nashville and we fly together, or I could
- 15:28Speaker 2: fly and connect to Nashville. However we want to do it,
- 15:32Speaker 2: and I get some solo time with my daughter. I go, Lisa,
- 15:36Speaker 2: you also look very beautiful when you say things like this,
- 15:39Speaker 2: not just when you say things like this, you look
- 15:41Speaker 2: beautiful all the time, but wow, you look stunning and you.
- 15:45Speaker 1: And to be clear, you're just speaking from your heart.
- 15:48Speaker 1: You're not thinking manipulation at all. Oh about her looking
- 15:53Speaker 1: beautiful or this.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Situation, all of it. Correct, Yes, you're just speaking your mind,
- 16:02Speaker 2: speaking my mind, but with like on a serious note,
- 16:06Speaker 2: because we are telling the line between bit and seriousness,
- 16:09Speaker 2: like Lisa coming in and being like, I think Truman.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Should, like you should go to that football game. He
- 16:16Speaker 1: is very excited. He could bring a friend. Like now
- 16:19Speaker 1: is you three sitting there talking?
- 16:21Speaker 2: This is a separate conversation with her and Jill. And
- 16:25Speaker 2: then you hear her mom. You heard her mom comes
- 16:29Speaker 2: up to me and the lobby like late because her
- 16:32Speaker 2: mom and her have this conversation. And then Jill and
- 16:35Speaker 2: I have this conversation about I'm gonna go with my mom.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I then run into Lisa down the lobby and she
- 16:40Speaker 2: gives me one of these goes You're welcome. Got you?
- 16:46Speaker 3: Does does Jill know you guys high five?
- 16:49Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 16:49Speaker 3: Okay, yeah she knows we high five?
- 16:52Speaker 1: Because I'm wondering if Lisa says this, oh, I can
- 16:54Speaker 1: do the X, Y and Z. You just you're probably
- 16:56Speaker 1: standing there and you're probably looking at Lisa.
- 16:58Speaker 3: And then you just go.
- 17:01Speaker 2: And how does that make you? Honey? How does that
- 17:04Speaker 2: make you feel? Do you still? Do you feel wonderful
- 17:08Speaker 2: and loved?
- 17:08Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 17:09Speaker 2: In treasured? So do I get to go to the
- 17:11Speaker 2: football game.
- 17:12Speaker 5: I'm going to the football game, baby, No way, I'm
- 17:15Speaker 5: going to the football game.
- 17:16Speaker 2: And I'm taking papashroom and dude, really cool moment because
- 17:21Speaker 2: my dad has blessed me my entire life with like
- 17:24Speaker 2: a just a ton of opportunities, trips, fun, you know,
- 17:28Speaker 2: tickets to games, blah blah blah. And I was like,
- 17:31Speaker 2: I haven't gone on a solo trip with my dad
- 17:33Speaker 2: since high school. I'm gonna take my dad. I was like,
- 17:37Speaker 2: that would be really fun. College football is a love
- 17:39Speaker 2: language for him. His favorite moment with his dad was
- 17:44Speaker 2: getting to buy tickets and fly his dad. It was
- 17:47Speaker 2: very close to his dad passing to the rose ball
- 17:51Speaker 2: when TCU beat Wisconsin they're both horn Frogs, diehard horn Frogs.
- 17:56Speaker 2: And he flew my dad to the rose Ball and
- 17:59Speaker 2: they got to watch that game together. And he has
- 18:01Speaker 2: pictures from that trip in every room of his house.
- 18:05Speaker 2: That was like one of his greatest moments with his dad.
- 18:08Speaker 2: And I was like, I want to do the same,
- 18:11Speaker 2: and I want to take my dad to this game.
- 18:12Speaker 2: That would be really fun. I called him, and dude,
- 18:15Speaker 2: it was just like the best phone call ever. I
- 18:19Speaker 2: could tell he was really excited. He is such a
- 18:23Speaker 2: game planner. So he's just hopping already on you know,
- 18:27Speaker 2: the interwebs and pulling up the rowback Polo saying he
- 18:30Speaker 2: needs to get a new golf bush. Sure do you
- 18:33Speaker 2: need to want to dad? I'm fine. I got Baylor gear.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Thank you so much. You worry about you. You're fine.
- 18:39Speaker 2: I can pay for the hotel room. Please don't pay
- 18:41Speaker 2: for the hotel room. Where it's okay? He showing your boy. Yeah.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Uh So he's gonna come up and stay with me
- 18:47Speaker 2: in Nashville. We're going to drive down together to Atlanta,
- 18:50Speaker 2: go to the football game, and then drive back up
- 18:53Speaker 2: to Nashville and spend Labor Day weekend with each other.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Jill is going to spend Labor Day weekend with her
- 18:59Speaker 2: mom out to San Diego, and all parties are very
- 19:02Speaker 2: happy about the situation. My god man, and I was
- 19:09Speaker 2: on stub Hub about this close to selling it, like
- 19:13Speaker 2: I really was. I was gonna no questions ask, I
- 19:15Speaker 2: was gonna sell the tickets. But all said and done,
- 19:20Speaker 2: this wedding was really really a sick weekend because one
- 19:24Speaker 2: Jill's family's incredible got to hang out with them. No
- 19:28Speaker 2: baby's allowed at the wedding, which I'm fine with that rule. Like,
- 19:32Speaker 2: no part of me is upset about that. We got
- 19:34Speaker 2: a babysitter locally, that's a family friend of hers. Jill
- 19:39Speaker 2: went to the ceremony. I stayed back at the hotel
- 19:41Speaker 2: with Scarlet, got dressed while Scarlet's ripping around the room,
- 19:46Speaker 2: put Scarlet down to bed, and her little sleep pod
- 19:50Speaker 2: babysitter comes in. Thank you, thank you so much. You're
- 19:54Speaker 2: the best. But why I'm gonna go to the wedding,
- 19:57Speaker 2: She goes, By the way, I get to go to
- 19:58Speaker 2: the football game, now going to Atlanta. I'm going to Atlanta.
- 20:02Speaker 5: George, No, no, no, no, Baylor, Auburn, Baylor.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Listen to the fourth of Dad's episode, so last weeks
- 20:08Speaker 1: and you'll know what I'm talking about, big way, Thank
- 20:10Speaker 1: you so much.
- 20:11Speaker 2: She was the sweetest old lady in the entire world.
- 20:14Speaker 5: It goes, she goes, I just want to let you
- 20:17Speaker 5: know I got my church clothes on. So if you
- 20:21Speaker 5: guys aren't back to like nine thirty am, it's just
- 20:24Speaker 5: gotta be nine thirty am, because then I can leave
- 20:27Speaker 5: here and make the ten o'clock service tomorrow.
- 20:31Speaker 2: I go, I promise we can be back before. Of
- 20:34Speaker 2: course you do. Yeah, I promise we'll be back before
- 20:39Speaker 2: nine to thirty am. We'll be back so you can
- 20:41Speaker 2: enjoy the Sabbath. I love you, love, but dude, it was.
- 20:50Speaker 2: It was just a really really good weekend. Like splitting
- 20:53Speaker 2: up to crush the scarlet stuff, wedding goes great, Jill's like, hey,
- 21:01Speaker 2: we can compromise here. This doesn't have to be a thing.
- 21:04Speaker 2: I didn't even bring it up as an issue, like
- 21:06Speaker 2: it was just like a It just kind of came
- 21:10Speaker 2: up on its own. Just good communicat. It was great communication.
- 21:13Speaker 1: All the universal lesson that is the universal for BT
- 21:16Speaker 1: six right now.
- 21:17Speaker 3: Communicado, dude, communicado. Yeah.
- 21:21Speaker 2: And also if we don't make it back. We got
- 21:22Speaker 2: some grape juice in the fridge and there's crackers in
- 21:24Speaker 2: the pantry. If you got it, If you know and
- 21:27Speaker 2: go down.
- 21:27Speaker 5: To the lobby, just tell them five twenty eight, don't
- 21:29Speaker 5: room numbers five twenty eight, and you get whatever the
- 21:31Speaker 5: hell you want.
- 21:32Speaker 2: We don't care you get it. That's awesome, man, it
- 21:37Speaker 2: was fun. Dude, is that the dad win? That's the
- 21:40Speaker 2: dad win? The trenches was like just being that's the
- 21:44Speaker 2: dad win. That's an obvious dad win. Yeah, yeah, I
- 21:48Speaker 2: beat six going off in the chat right now, they're
- 21:50Speaker 2: going off in the comments. And also the preliminary trip
- 21:55Speaker 2: like driving to Ohio that's just one hour short of
- 21:59Speaker 2: the drive down to Florida. So it was a great
- 22:02Speaker 2: practice run of our vacation in July, and we're gonna
- 22:08Speaker 2: do the same thing. Bathtime, car seat drive through the night?
- 22:12Speaker 2: How how far was it? Toho five and some change
- 22:16Speaker 2: to Dayton and then it's like six and some change.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Nope, it's like seven and a half sixty five. We'll
- 22:23Speaker 4: have traffic too. I'm warning, I'm thirty yeah to thirty eight,
- 22:27Speaker 4: Oh well then that I mean still, that's fine.
- 22:30Speaker 2: I'm just throwing that out there. He's got my he's
- 22:32Speaker 2: got your back, he's got my mat he's got your back. Yeah,
- 22:35Speaker 2: if we're if we're cooking with another extra hour, yeah,
- 22:38Speaker 2: you know, just make sure you know there there might
- 22:40Speaker 2: have come.
- 22:41Speaker 1: There might have to be a week where Chef's dad
- 22:43Speaker 1: is just in Chef's pod. Chef's not on the podcast.
- 22:45Speaker 1: So that way, it's just like we got Chef in
- 22:46Speaker 1: thirty years.
- 22:50Speaker 2: We pulled up the thumbnail picture of all the dads.
- 22:54Speaker 2: That's one of my favorite thumbnails of all to broy
- 22:57Speaker 2: just that day.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Doing the pod, the dad had combine. We all walked
- 23:02Speaker 1: out of here and all the dads are ready to
- 23:04Speaker 1: go for another couple hours, Like everybody started to warm up,
- 23:06Speaker 1: and because it was kind of calm, it was kind
- 23:08Speaker 1: of you know, guys, the boys were reserved when we
- 23:11Speaker 1: first sat down here. Yeah, then you just felt the
- 23:14Speaker 1: you felt the juice with the dads as that pod
- 23:17Speaker 1: got going with all of our dads and everybody was
- 23:20Speaker 1: ready to go. But made for a great combine the
- 23:23Speaker 1: combine day at the Luwan household.
- 23:25Speaker 2: It was a great day.
- 23:27Speaker 1: And man, I shout out Papa shurre M. I do
- 23:30Speaker 1: wish he was there.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Oh, dude, had a great conversation with him two days
- 23:35Speaker 2: ago about that of just he was asking how everything went.
- 23:40Speaker 3: I was I'm telling we missed him.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I told him that your dad specifically a
- 23:46Speaker 2: second time pulled me off to the side and said, hey,
- 23:49Speaker 2: tell your dad. I said, hey, though, like really tell me.
- 23:53Speaker 2: He was like, Bill, I got I'm gonna I'm gonna.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Tell you his number I can give you to hear
- 24:01Speaker 3: from you.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Yeah. Uh uh, mister Comstock, Sad has planned they got
- 24:09Speaker 2: my dad and him got each other's numbers and they
- 24:12Speaker 2: are going to get like dinner at lunch together. His
- 24:15Speaker 2: uh business stuff brings him to where my dad lives
- 24:18Speaker 2: in Midland sometimes and he's like, I'd love to connect
- 24:21Speaker 2: with Papa Shurm And I told Papa Shurman. He was like,
- 24:24Speaker 2: oh yeah, oh my gosh, yeah, let me get his number. Dude.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Doesn't that just warm your heart? His dad's connecting.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Yeah, like us getting to do the dad combine, like
- 24:33Speaker 1: having the reason and essentially excuse of we're going to
- 24:37Speaker 1: do content for a day, but let's get everybody's dad
- 24:40Speaker 1: in town and essentially we just get to.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Hang with our dads for an afternoon. It rocked.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's so sick. And the also, by the way,
- 24:52Speaker 2: the handings on a ton of the competitions, I feel
- 24:56Speaker 2: like we're scoring pretty high.
- 24:58Speaker 1: I had the handings. I had his dad, Yeah, Papa Chef.
- 25:02Speaker 1: He was in my running for MVD.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:05Speaker 1: I gave the nod to h to Comstock. Just veteran respect,
- 25:11Speaker 1: veteran respect. But McPherson, Papa mcpheerson is the one who
- 25:14Speaker 1: won well. And talk about a dad.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Dude. That picture of McPherson that I sent into the
- 25:21Speaker 2: Bust and group chat with all the smoke around the
- 25:23Speaker 2: grill and he's got the spatue and he's got the sunglasses,
- 25:26Speaker 2: the mustache. I mean, it's truly like you want a
- 25:29Speaker 2: poster of like Michael Jordan tongue out dunking of a dad. Yeah, boom.
- 25:35Speaker 3: The New Balance wants a logo on the side of
- 25:38Speaker 3: the shoe.
- 25:38Speaker 2: It's that.
- 25:39Speaker 3: It's that, It's that silhouette.
- 25:41Speaker 2: It's the spatula with the smoke and the reaching out
- 25:44Speaker 2: for the meat. Tred. That's a dad.
- 25:48Speaker 1: That was a lot of fun, man, Oh dude, it
- 25:50Speaker 1: was a lot of fun one day. This is kind
- 25:52Speaker 1: of a darker way to think about about it. But
- 25:54Speaker 1: also like I in my brain, I also think a
- 25:57Speaker 1: cool way to think about it one day when our
- 25:59Speaker 1: dad are gone crazy to say no. But you have
- 26:05Speaker 1: those videos, those moments and memories like in a rolodex
- 26:08Speaker 1: to go and watch.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Oh hell yeah, just that episode with all you guys
- 26:13Speaker 2: sitting there and your dad's talking about you. That was
- 26:18Speaker 2: a special moment for me. People that I've only known
- 26:22Speaker 2: you personally for about two and a half years. Yeah,
- 26:27Speaker 2: a little less for these guys, but like sitting there
- 26:29Speaker 2: and really getting to like see the guys that raised y'all,
- 26:34Speaker 2: see little bits and pieces of y'all in them, them
- 26:37Speaker 2: talking you guys, of them jabbing at you.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Got like that was a very special moment. Like that
- 26:44Speaker 1: was really cool.
- 26:45Speaker 4: It was really cool. Thank you guys for lett us
- 26:47Speaker 4: do that. I know Derek if you feel the same way.
- 26:49Speaker 4: But it was fun to watch.
- 26:52Speaker 1: All right, what I say nothing nothing is it's just
- 26:58Speaker 1: made a face, but you keep going.
- 27:02Speaker 2: It was special to be a part of.
- 27:07Speaker 4: I'm trying to say, like wax poetic about you guys.
- 27:09Speaker 4: Thank you so much. The old man was nervous all week.
- 27:12Speaker 4: I told him he would be fine. He watched it
- 27:13Speaker 4: this morning, sent me a little text said, not as
- 27:16Speaker 4: bad as I thought. I really enjoyed doing that. And
- 27:18Speaker 4: another update, my little brother texted me. He said, when
- 27:21Speaker 4: he's coming home, we're fighting. So did he listen to
- 27:25Speaker 4: the pod? Yeah, he listened to it this morning.
- 27:27Speaker 2: He just texted.
- 27:27Speaker 4: He goes, when I get home, I'm kicking your ass.
- 27:33Speaker 4: So you could try just like the old days.
- 27:37Speaker 3: How big a bull are you?
- 27:38Speaker 2: John's just gonna be in the backyard with his arms
- 27:40Speaker 2: crossed and the lollipop in his hand, just smiling, Just say,
- 27:45Speaker 2: come on back.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Oh my god, I can't whoop passing here. Wait the
- 27:48Speaker 3: boy winner.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Gets the change, we'll start. I got the ring in
- 27:52Speaker 2: the backyard ready for you, chef. When y'all, when y'all
- 27:55Speaker 2: have your little battle for the belt, got it all
- 27:57Speaker 2: ready for you. What's going on with this situation that
- 28:02Speaker 2: you brought up at the top of the Oh, they're
- 28:05Speaker 2: in laws. What's going on there?
- 28:08Speaker 1: So the wife and I I got his tickets to
- 28:11Speaker 1: down in South Hall. They're doing like the They have
- 28:13Speaker 1: like a couple of little pop up concerts throughout the summer,
- 28:17Speaker 1: and the one that they had was Dashboard Confessional, Big
- 28:20Speaker 1: Dashboard Confessional and I mean I enjoyed their music when
- 28:24Speaker 1: I was younger, back in high school, middle school, high school.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Dash Board Confessional is awesome.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Dashboard Confessional is one of my wife's favorite bands.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Like when we're ripping songs.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Of Dashboard, she knows all the lyrics to all the
- 28:35Speaker 1: songs and she's so hyped. So I guess these tickets
- 28:38Speaker 1: for this intimate concert is that we're we're outside. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 28:43Speaker 1: we're outside. There's only maybe a couple hundred people. A
- 28:48Speaker 1: few hundred people. Dang, that's like, okay, that makes way
- 28:50Speaker 1: more sense in the scenery of her product's beautiful. Yeah yeah, yeah.
- 28:55Speaker 1: And Chris the singer, the musician, but he sounds just
- 29:01Speaker 1: like he sounds just like he did and he's got
- 29:05Speaker 1: so many songs that he's like, I'm gonna be up here.
- 29:06Speaker 1: There's gonna be songs that you guys are gonna throw
- 29:08Speaker 1: out me that you want me to sing. Because he's
- 29:09Speaker 1: like he's engaging with the audience. He's like, let me
- 29:12Speaker 1: know what you want me to sing, and I'll sing it.
- 29:13Speaker 1: There's no like, there's no lineup that he's going by,
- 29:16Speaker 1: and he's like, there will be some songs that I'm
- 29:18Speaker 1: kind of forgetful of some of the lyrics. It's funny
- 29:20Speaker 1: because I wrote the lyrics. He's like, but we'll work
- 29:23Speaker 1: through it together.
- 29:24Speaker 2: He was. He ripped, dude.
- 29:25Speaker 3: It was awesome.
- 29:27Speaker 1: They had some joy Lamburgers there at South Hall. Like
- 29:31Speaker 1: it's the the vibe, the scenery. Yeah, we're trying to
- 29:34Speaker 1: hold off there. You know, they're trying to get some
- 29:36Speaker 1: things in because rain was coming, a storm was coming.
- 29:39Speaker 1: But then we just moved it inside. It was very intimate,
- 29:42Speaker 1: like you're just listening to dashboard confessional. Just it was
- 29:47Speaker 1: it was a plus and we're listening to him singing.
- 29:50Speaker 1: We're just having the best time. Like I can tell
- 29:52Speaker 1: my wife is super happy.
- 29:54Speaker 3: And then all of a.
- 29:55Speaker 1: Sudden, when we're in when by the time we're in
- 29:57Speaker 1: the indoor and the storm's kind of hidden, we get
- 30:00Speaker 1: a message or she's starting to get messages from her
- 30:03Speaker 1: parents about like rue and bedtime, and you know she's
- 30:07Speaker 1: going back and forth a little bit. I can tell
- 30:08Speaker 1: it's kind of taking her attention off of I know
- 30:10Speaker 1: she's wanting to listen to music. It's like we got
- 30:12Speaker 1: them to babysit. Anytime you have a babysitter, like you
- 30:16Speaker 1: just you're open. They handled all situations unless there is
- 30:19Speaker 1: an emergency, obviously, but you you get the babysitter. So
- 30:22Speaker 1: you guys can go have your date night, So you
- 30:24Speaker 1: guys can just check out, so you can we can
- 30:27Speaker 1: enjoy mom and dad time together. Yeah, and anytime it's
- 30:32Speaker 1: like I just in my brain, I'm like when it's
- 30:34Speaker 1: your when it's the grandparents or in laws of any sort,
- 30:37Speaker 1: babysit like there can always be something that pops up
- 30:40Speaker 1: and you're in this weird gray area because it's family
- 30:43Speaker 1: and you're trying to communicate and do all the things.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Like they're probably in their mind it's we're watching your kids,
- 30:51Speaker 1: you know what I mean to where it's not like
- 30:53Speaker 1: and in our mind you're wanting like a service to
- 30:55Speaker 1: be done. We're thankful that it's our I'm thankful that
- 30:57Speaker 1: it's the in laws, but I'm thinking of my head.
- 30:59Speaker 1: I need you guys to be dialed in locks so
- 31:01Speaker 1: we can just be here. Ruth's having trouble with her inhaler.
- 31:06Speaker 1: She needed her in haler before bed. I want to
- 31:09Speaker 1: say I'm assuming here because there's a lot of bits
- 31:11Speaker 1: and piece, a lot of arguing a lot of back
- 31:13Speaker 1: and forth.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Okay, okay, but Ruth's having trouble with her in Haler.
- 31:16Speaker 1: I want to say, Rue might have got it out
- 31:18Speaker 1: of the drawer, but all of a sudden, Inhaler ended
- 31:21Speaker 1: up in. It's one of those like like mask and
- 31:24Speaker 1: Hailer's like, you hit it. It's got this little contraption
- 31:26Speaker 1: that goes here, and he's got the little mask over there. Yeah,
- 31:29Speaker 1: from when she was young, but she still has a
- 31:30Speaker 1: little mask part on and he was just in four
- 31:33Speaker 1: pieces by the time. Uh, Lola gets it cool. Lola
- 31:38Speaker 1: can't figure it out. She's texting Charle on how to
- 31:41Speaker 1: figure it out. Charles trying to tell her here like
- 31:44Speaker 1: sending her she might have sent her a photo.
- 31:46Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 31:46Speaker 1: She's trying to give her steps to like put it
- 31:48Speaker 1: back together. Because again we're sitting there listening to Chris
- 31:50Speaker 1: dashboard confessional. Yeah, it's we're toward the end, so some
- 31:54Speaker 1: of the men starting to play. We're getting comfortable yelling
- 31:57Speaker 1: out songs seeing uh stolen Yeah, hands down, you know, vindication,
- 32:03Speaker 1: h what is it?
- 32:06Speaker 3: Anyway?
- 32:08Speaker 1: And then Charle has to get on the phone. Now
- 32:11Speaker 1: Opah gets involved. Grandpa and They're going back and forth.
- 32:14Speaker 1: They can't figure it out. This is a this is
- 32:16Speaker 1: an inhaler. It's four pieces. It's easy, it's easy, shirm.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:23Speaker 1: And you got you got Google, you got the website,
- 32:26Speaker 1: you got your phone.
- 32:27Speaker 3: Yeah, watch a YouTube video.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Yeah, look at what.
- 32:30Speaker 1: The brand is and just type it in how to
- 32:33Speaker 1: put this together? Because it's just four pieces. If you
- 32:36Speaker 1: can't just figure that part out.
- 32:37Speaker 2: I can hear it in his voice how easy it
- 32:41Speaker 2: really is.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Could I couldn't, Charle go ahead?
- 32:44Speaker 2: Could?
- 32:45Speaker 1: I mean?
- 32:46Speaker 2: Would you trust me to get it under a minute
- 32:48Speaker 2: first time? Looking at it? Type easy? Yes, okay in.
- 32:53Speaker 3: My head and we're talking Willie one shall brain Yeah.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Chro then gets up to leave to go get on
- 32:59Speaker 1: the phone, hoping it's only going to be a couple
- 33:01Speaker 1: of minutes, but apparently they're they're there. There's arguing going on,
- 33:06Speaker 1: back and forth. Ru's crying, Ruse beside herself. I'm sitting
- 33:11Speaker 1: there listening to That's where conventional things.
- 33:13Speaker 2: She's gonna be back in a couple of minutes.
- 33:15Speaker 1: He plays the last song, hands down Charles's favorite. No,
- 33:19Speaker 1: Charle misses the entire thing. No, And then he does
- 33:23Speaker 1: you know all this he's he's got his hands up,
- 33:25Speaker 1: we're all clapping him.
- 33:26Speaker 3: You're looking around, and there's part of me.
- 33:28Speaker 1: I got a lot of anxiety because I'm like, damn, now,
- 33:31Speaker 1: I feel like I should have took the call and
- 33:32Speaker 1: went out because this is for her and not me.
- 33:36Speaker 3: And then I go and look around for I can't
- 33:38Speaker 3: find her.
- 33:38Speaker 1: I go outside, look around, kind of look in the hallways,
- 33:41Speaker 1: say maybe she made it to the backside.
- 33:42Speaker 2: So I go to the backside.
- 33:44Speaker 3: I meet this cat who went up there and singing song.
- 33:46Speaker 3: His name is like Ryman. Uh.
- 33:48Speaker 1: He did awesome. Chris brought him up on stage. He
- 33:50Speaker 1: met him locally in National and he let him play
- 33:52Speaker 1: a song in front of us and he ripped. But
- 33:54Speaker 1: I shave I shake his hand. I turn around, I see.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Charro go over to her. She just asked the off question,
- 34:01Speaker 3: Is it over?
- 34:02Speaker 2: Everybody a walk?
- 34:03Speaker 1: I'm like, it's over, And she was so fucking pissed. Bro,
- 34:10Speaker 1: I'm talking mad man, and I understood. But you have
- 34:17Speaker 1: the head banging that you have with you know, with
- 34:18Speaker 1: your wife, ass with her parents, that you have with
- 34:20Speaker 1: your parents, like the whole just the whole family dynamic.
- 34:22Speaker 1: You're out of the crosshairs that I'm out of the crosshairs.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I'm more so thinking about as I'm driving home in silence,
- 34:28Speaker 1: like I know how to put the shit together too.
- 34:32Speaker 1: If it's like if I if I played the twenty
- 34:36Speaker 1: armchair quarterback and I could go back and I'm watching film,
- 34:39Speaker 1: I'm thinking, in my head, I should have gotten up
- 34:42Speaker 1: and went and handled it, because she she just needs
- 34:46Speaker 1: to be in the most. She needs to She needs
- 34:48Speaker 1: to love listening to dashboards confessional and in my head,
- 34:52Speaker 1: she wasn't giving me that. But in my head that's
- 34:54Speaker 1: my dad loss.
- 34:56Speaker 2: In her head, she's also thinking, the easiest way to
- 35:00Speaker 2: communicate with my two parents is by me doing it,
- 35:03Speaker 2: not will right.
- 35:04Speaker 1: I mean they were texting her, yeah, yeah, because I
- 35:08Speaker 1: guess you got FaceTime and there's so much you don't
- 35:10Speaker 1: going back and forth. It's like I can't figure it out,
- 35:12Speaker 1: and blah blah blah, and Charles like, if you just
- 35:14Speaker 1: give me a minute and listen to me, But there
- 35:16Speaker 1: was no listening. They were just arguing back and forth
- 35:19Speaker 1: all this different stuff to where they finally, once they
- 35:22Speaker 1: finally listened to Charrow, they got it figured it out
- 35:24Speaker 1: within a minute or within a couple of minutes.
- 35:26Speaker 2: I was like, did you today.
- 35:28Speaker 1: She's like, yeah, they figured out, but they just didn't
- 35:29Speaker 1: want to listen because she's like, you know, you know
- 35:36Speaker 1: parents with the FaceTime stuff. She's like, I'm like, I
- 35:38Speaker 1: need you to show me what you're looking at. She
- 35:40Speaker 1: would show her, but then she'd move. She's like, I
- 35:42Speaker 1: need you to keep the camera on it, stay on it.
- 35:45Speaker 2: Yeah, man and buddy.
- 35:48Speaker 1: That's got to be one of those dad with the
- 35:50Speaker 1: win was we were doing date Night and part of
- 35:53Speaker 1: we were kind of run down by the end of
- 35:55Speaker 1: the week because we got back from Florida. Yeah, that
- 35:57Speaker 1: entire week last week. We had the neutral shoot on Thursday,
- 36:00Speaker 1: that was all day. We had the Dad combine on Wednesday,
- 36:03Speaker 1: that was all day. She's got stuff with bar three,
- 36:06Speaker 1: like it's just all the stuff that all parents and
- 36:09Speaker 1: households goals go through.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Before.
- 36:11Speaker 1: We were at the end of the week and it
- 36:12Speaker 1: was like, Hey, are we going to dashboard tomorrow? And
- 36:13Speaker 1: I'm like, I got the tickets. His buddy lock, are
- 36:16Speaker 1: your parents coming over?
- 36:17Speaker 3: Huh?
- 36:17Speaker 1: This dashboard guy, Chris, Yeah, it seems like he lives
- 36:20Speaker 1: here in Nashville.
- 36:22Speaker 6: We can talk off camera. That was like a good
- 36:24Speaker 6: little opportunity for I saw Mother's Day or something. Oh,
- 36:28Speaker 6: I know she listens to the show.
- 36:29Speaker 2: She listens to the show. Yeah, this part out, but man,
- 36:33Speaker 2: what I tell you that drive.
- 36:37Speaker 1: And for the dads out there, it's you just know
- 36:41Speaker 1: it's one of those ones. Like I wasn't saying nothing.
- 36:45Speaker 2: I saw how I saw that she was.
- 36:49Speaker 1: It wasn't even it wasn't even a lane to like
- 36:52Speaker 1: give her optimism. Yeah, like I'm thinking in my head,
- 36:55Speaker 1: we still did get to listen to dashboard like insanely
- 36:59Speaker 1: like for me to this camera, sat there watching him
- 37:03Speaker 1: and listening to him Charles throwing songs like we're vocal Like.
- 37:06Speaker 2: It's just it was so sick.
- 37:08Speaker 1: And we had so many great moments throughout that date night,
- 37:13Speaker 1: but that one at the end when she missed hands down,
- 37:19Speaker 1: and it's just, you know, you're sitting in the car
- 37:21Speaker 1: and I'm thinking you could give the perspective spin that
- 37:25Speaker 1: we still all encompassing great night.
- 37:27Speaker 2: But I'm like, Willie boy, you just sit there man.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Nod No that yeah, because she was right like I'm
- 37:39Speaker 1: sitting there listen to her.
- 37:39Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm getting a little pissed off.
- 37:41Speaker 1: I'm like, fuck, why can't they Why can't you just
- 37:44Speaker 1: have your shit figured out? But then you're you have
- 37:48Speaker 1: gratitude and you appreciate that you have in laws, that
- 37:51Speaker 1: you have the parents that can come to the house
- 37:52Speaker 1: and watch them. But the whole point of getting childcare,
- 37:56Speaker 1: if you just labeled childcare, not who it is, just childcare,
- 37:59Speaker 1: you get childcare.
- 38:00Speaker 2: And the only time you'd want to hear from is
- 38:02Speaker 2: if there is an.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Emergency you're expecting or you're hoping that whoever's doing the
- 38:07Speaker 1: childcare can figure out what can find the solves, Like
- 38:11Speaker 1: moments are gonna happen, You're gonna figure out the solve.
- 38:13Speaker 3: That's why you're doing and offering it.
- 38:16Speaker 1: So there's like this battle going on in my head
- 38:17Speaker 1: because I'm starting to get I'm like upset internally. I
- 38:21Speaker 1: know my girl she's she's pissed. But gentlemen, it was
- 38:25Speaker 1: it was those ones where you just know you're walking out,
- 38:28Speaker 1: she's like a few steps ahead of me, kind of
- 38:29Speaker 1: hitting like a violent walk the weals rain hitting us.
- 38:35Speaker 3: I can't remember.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Oh buddy, when you start hearing that it was dark,
- 38:43Speaker 1: rain's coming down, you wouldn't even you don't even give
- 38:45Speaker 1: a shit about the rain. She's a few steps ahead
- 38:47Speaker 1: of me. I'm walking behind the car. You see the
- 38:49Speaker 1: lights flicker on to unlock the doors. You kind of
- 38:51Speaker 1: get in, You're silent. I started up, I back it out.
- 38:54Speaker 1: I'm driving. You just hear the engine. She'll just you
- 38:57Speaker 1: She'll hit it a few times and I'm like yeah,
- 39:01Speaker 1: a lot of nodding, a lot of yeah. And I
- 39:03Speaker 1: don't know what to say because I'm on her side.
- 39:07Speaker 1: And I'm also like do I give a perspective thing?
- 39:10Speaker 1: Or do I do I get with her in the
- 39:12Speaker 1: suck and just argue, or Willie boy, do you just
- 39:15Speaker 1: sit there? And I just chose option. See she did
- 39:18Speaker 1: she hit you with? Do you not have anything to say?
- 39:21Speaker 3: God? You look amazing?
- 39:22Speaker 2: Do you look incredible?
- 39:24Speaker 3: It was like, so, I'm kind of just letting you,
- 39:27Speaker 3: you know, I'm just letting you vent.
- 39:29Speaker 2: I do agree.
- 39:31Speaker 3: I agree with everything you're saying.
- 39:32Speaker 2: I think it's all bullshit. What what do you want
- 39:34Speaker 2: me to do? A dad hack husband hack that I
- 39:38Speaker 2: use quite often is the phrase, oh man, really, that
- 39:44Speaker 2: will get you through any But.
- 39:47Speaker 1: When it's already at a ten and the ten is
- 39:49Speaker 1: like the truth, It's like I already knew what was happening.
- 39:53Speaker 7: Yes, but as she's selling it to you that I'm
- 39:57Speaker 7: with you, oh yeah, and the oh man man, oh man,
- 40:04Speaker 7: So sorry, you're apologizing, but you have nothing to apologize
- 40:07Speaker 7: about to you. I did that sometimes of the oh,
- 40:11Speaker 7: I'm so sorry.
- 40:13Speaker 2: We came to the house and I kind of just
- 40:15Speaker 2: kept my distance from everybody pretty much. I was about
- 40:21Speaker 2: to say, Judge, I was about to say, y'all came
- 40:23Speaker 2: home and they were still there is at that point
- 40:26Speaker 2: I'd be like, yes, and Ru was still awake. That
- 40:27Speaker 2: that's all. Rue was still awake. We're talking.
- 40:31Speaker 1: It's past nine. It's past nine o'clock, Ben seven thirty eight.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Like when we got done, like you know she's doing,
- 40:40Speaker 1: she wants to call him.
- 40:41Speaker 2: We have to.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Now we're on speakerphone with Rue trying to calm her down.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Dean Haler was put together. Now we just need her
- 40:47Speaker 1: to take Dianhalo.
- 40:48Speaker 3: Yeah, but Rue is still worked up.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 40:52Speaker 1: I'm thinking, why is everybody arguing in front of Rum
- 40:54Speaker 1: when Ru's already upset? Yeah, and then you got to
- 40:58Speaker 1: talk Rue off the lge.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Hey, take your and hailor.
- 41:01Speaker 1: We're going to be home in thirty minutes. Yeah, I
- 41:03Speaker 1: want you home right now. That's not how it works, sweetheart.
- 41:05Speaker 1: We'll be we're driving, we see the blue line. We're
- 41:08Speaker 1: gonna be home in thirty minutes, and then mama wants
- 41:11Speaker 1: you to do my bedtime. So then we get home,
- 41:16Speaker 1: because then venting happens. Let me correct, let me step
- 41:19Speaker 1: back and correct. Rue did eventually fall asleep, and charge
- 41:24Speaker 1: just went upstairs the kisser good night. But after the
- 41:26Speaker 1: phone call and we had twenty five extra mention driving home, yea,
- 41:29Speaker 1: then the venting of now I gotta go home and
- 41:33Speaker 1: do bedtime, yeah, takes place. And that's where I was like, yeah,
- 41:37Speaker 1: I get all the off this right now.
- 41:40Speaker 2: I hear you.
- 41:41Speaker 1: We're in the A gap and by the way, you
- 41:43Speaker 1: look gorgeous.
- 41:47Speaker 2: We're in the A gap. Man, I just want to
- 41:51Speaker 2: say this really quick, and if this is a really
- 41:53Speaker 2: bad time to say it, you just let me know.
- 41:55Speaker 2: But you look beautiful. You look really is good.
- 42:00Speaker 1: So not only are you having that chaos, you missed
- 42:02Speaker 1: your favorite song the whole point like you just went
- 42:05Speaker 1: to it just went off a cliff. Yeah, then the
- 42:08Speaker 1: drive home, talk your four year old off a ledge
- 42:11Speaker 1: and then get off the phone and Beck, I still
- 42:13Speaker 1: have to do a responsibility with parenting when I get home.
- 42:17Speaker 2: There's also there's a level of expectation that I think
- 42:21Speaker 2: is held for some in laws. I don't know what
- 42:24Speaker 2: that level of expectation is for yours. But like my mom,
- 42:30Speaker 2: Avid listener to this show. So I say this with love,
- 42:35Speaker 2: she knows this about herself. There was once a joke
- 42:37Speaker 2: in our family of she would get lost all the time,
- 42:42Speaker 2: really bad with technology.
- 42:43Speaker 3: Oh that's Bill Compton right with you know my dad.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Direct quote from my dad as he's giving directions to
- 42:49Speaker 2: my mom is, honey, there's not gonna be a road
- 42:52Speaker 2: sign that says Amy, Bunny turn here. Okay, Like you
- 42:55Speaker 2: got to know the like the mile number, exit number.
- 42:59Speaker 2: That's I'm telling you. It's my Lexit number sixty three.
- 43:03Speaker 2: It just takes sixty three, like you kind of you know,
- 43:07Speaker 2: get to that level.
- 43:09Speaker 1: So with miss Amy, there's an expectation of like what
- 43:13Speaker 1: she can handle of certain tasks that I would never
- 43:18Speaker 1: give to my mom.
- 43:19Speaker 2: And I say that with love. I wouldn't give it
- 43:21Speaker 2: to my mom. Where if I gave that job to
- 43:24Speaker 2: my dad, easy if my like if my dad wasn't
- 43:28Speaker 2: able to do that I'd be like, dad, where are
- 43:30Speaker 2: we doing? Like what you gotta lock in down?
- 43:34Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, you know what I'm saying. Hey, you understand
- 43:36Speaker 1: their weaknesses and blinds.
- 43:37Speaker 2: Yeah yeah yeah.
- 43:38Speaker 1: And for me, my expectation with Opah is once once
- 43:43Speaker 1: friction gets going, he'll he'll he'll shut down. Yeah, whereas
- 43:47Speaker 1: he is very capable, so I have the I need
- 43:51Speaker 1: you to stay poised in the.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Pocket yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 43:54Speaker 1: And figure it out like you threw a pit because
- 43:57Speaker 1: I could tell he felt bad when Troe calls like
- 44:01Speaker 1: I missed the last like we missed the whole my
- 44:03Speaker 1: favorite song, I missed it. Yeah, And I could hear
- 44:06Speaker 1: it in his voice like he did feel bad. Yeah,
- 44:09Speaker 1: then he'll remember how he feels. It was just like
- 44:12Speaker 1: it was just a bad situation. And I think in
- 44:14Speaker 1: my head, Oprah, you're better than that. Yeah, he was all,
- 44:20Speaker 1: you gotta be the adult in the room.
- 44:24Speaker 3: When chaos is ensuing.
- 44:25Speaker 2: He throws a pick on the field. He comes to
- 44:27Speaker 2: the sideline, you're a head coach. He gets on phone
- 44:30Speaker 2: with oh C Charo. Oh C lights him up. He's
- 44:34Speaker 2: all this on the sideline, now head down, blah blah blah.
- 44:37Speaker 2: You're sitting there, give him a smack on the ask,
- 44:40Speaker 2: get back in there, go throw the ball, because I
- 44:42Speaker 2: know you can do it. We can't you. None of this,
- 44:46Speaker 2: none of that.
- 44:47Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, none of that.
- 44:50Speaker 2: That's a lot.
- 44:50Speaker 1: That's a tough line to toe, dude, tough line to toe.
- 44:54Speaker 1: My parents out there, all Papa team six. No, Like,
- 44:57Speaker 1: there's just a lot. There's a there's a line, there's
- 44:59Speaker 1: a dan it's happening. Yeah, it's all family dynamic stuff.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Well that, dude, talk about a subject that Honestly, every
- 45:08Speaker 2: single listener at home, I would say probably eighty percent
- 45:12Speaker 2: of listeners at home have an in law that they
- 45:15Speaker 2: just despise, Yeah, or an in law that despises them,
- 45:20Speaker 2: Like I feel like that's a pretty common trope. Yeah,
- 45:23Speaker 2: and we don't have that. And I was about to
- 45:26Speaker 2: say we don't have that either. I'd very much count
- 45:29Speaker 2: my blessings on that. But like that, that is something
- 45:32Speaker 2: that a lot of listeners at home are sitting there
- 45:35Speaker 2: and nodding their head of like thank God.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Like, if you have those resembment things, that's a notch
- 45:41Speaker 1: of evidence that builds your portfolio of.
- 45:43Speaker 3: Despising so and so.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Yes, we don't have that dynamic but I'm thinking in
- 45:48Speaker 1: my head, like if this is a babysitter or chalkcare person,
- 45:51Speaker 1: it could have been their first time or second time
- 45:53Speaker 1: something like that happens. That's just that's a we have
- 45:56Speaker 1: to be on the same page because that that can't
- 45:58Speaker 1: happen again.
- 45:59Speaker 2: Like, that's that's.
- 46:02Speaker 3: It's a fireball offense.
- 46:03Speaker 1: Yeah, not fireball, just we won't call you back because
- 46:07Speaker 1: you can't have those moments.
- 46:08Speaker 2: You can't have those moments. But you ain't gonna do
- 46:09Speaker 2: it with your in.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Laws because we have a great relationship and you also
- 46:14Speaker 1: love and need them. Yeah, it's true. It's it's so
- 46:18Speaker 1: you can't beat them up too much. Yeah, because we
- 46:22Speaker 1: need them to keep wanting to come back. We need
- 46:24Speaker 1: them when we're wanting to have those nights, those evenings. Yes,
- 46:28Speaker 1: it is what you got.
- 46:29Speaker 2: I saw you. I saw a couple of chips. My
- 46:31Speaker 2: only questions I know how you think, and I know
- 46:32Speaker 2: how I think.
- 46:33Speaker 6: We all think. We wanted to solve the issue. So
- 46:36Speaker 6: my brain goes in that situation, One did you teach
- 46:39Speaker 6: them when they got home, like how to do it?
- 46:41Speaker 2: Or did they already know it?
- 46:42Speaker 6: And two are there things in the future that you're
- 46:44Speaker 6: gonna make like instructional videos about like, Hi, I'm will Compton.
- 46:48Speaker 6: Me and my wife are out to dinner and you're
- 46:49Speaker 6: watching our kids. Here's how to do all this ship
- 46:52Speaker 6: and just run through because I'm curious, Like, let's say
- 46:54Speaker 6: this comes up again in a certain situation. Are you
- 46:56Speaker 6: gonna you're gonna coach them up? Are you gonna show
- 46:58Speaker 6: them how to do the machine? The four pieces and ship?
- 47:01Speaker 6: Are there any other things you're worried around the house
- 47:03Speaker 6: that Opa just can't figure out on his own?
- 47:05Speaker 3: Opa can Annie?
- 47:08Speaker 2: Yeah? Opa can Opa?
- 47:09Speaker 3: Cana Lola?
- 47:11Speaker 1: Like that's the level of like if she gets confused
- 47:13Speaker 1: on a matter, I'm like, okay, I love love me some, Lola,
- 47:17Speaker 1: but this is OPA's gotta know this.
- 47:19Speaker 2: Let's get game.
- 47:20Speaker 6: Yeah, gotta go Scarious. How you hnt like the coaching?
- 47:22Speaker 6: Think you're gonna make it?
- 47:23Speaker 2: I went to my room, great move.
- 47:27Speaker 1: I just gotta keep walking back and forth. Hey do
- 47:29Speaker 1: I gotta get something out of the car. Let me
- 47:31Speaker 1: walk back to the room, go in my closet. Let
- 47:33Speaker 1: me change Wait? Did I acting?
- 47:36Speaker 2: Man? Acting?
- 47:37Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 47:38Speaker 1: Just just check the tire, looking like I'm staying busy
- 47:40Speaker 1: because wife still I know she's still she's still hot.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Yeah, grass might need looked at, so she might have
- 47:46Speaker 2: showed them. Maybe not.
- 47:47Speaker 1: But to your point, it might not be me making
- 47:50Speaker 1: a video high I'm really see your wife. You're watching
- 47:52Speaker 1: this video. You probably have a trouble with Ianhaler. Let
- 47:54Speaker 1: me show you how we pece haale together. But now
- 47:56Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to add the link to a YouTube video.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Just in my note in my role of.
- 48:00Speaker 2: That, well, just QR code. You could QR make a
- 48:03Speaker 2: little video for your thing. It could be that heck
- 48:07Speaker 2: heck good, that good, heck good that act. Hey also
- 48:10Speaker 2: that level expectation thing where you're talking about no coaching
- 48:14Speaker 2: for opah on Inhaler, Bill Compton gets a video of
- 48:18Speaker 2: how to walk into the dakh no exactly. Oh yeah
- 48:22Speaker 2: that's what I'm talking. Yeah, oh my god, I forgot
- 48:24Speaker 2: your staff.
- 48:25Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, you gotta stay on my ass, chef.
- 48:29Speaker 2: You're you're my guy.
- 48:30Speaker 3: I don't care if you annoy me.
- 48:32Speaker 4: Okay, because yesterday when I didn't come in, I was
- 48:34Speaker 4: a little it was like a very brief like what
- 48:37Speaker 4: do you want?
- 48:37Speaker 2: And I was just like can I get that?
- 48:39Speaker 1: Because you were and I was just you were staying
- 48:41Speaker 1: Let it go for the thing where you cracked the
- 48:42Speaker 1: door and you were kind of staying there.
- 48:43Speaker 2: It sounded like you guys were having an important meeting. Yeah,
- 48:45Speaker 2: we were doing all we were doing one on one. Okay, Chef,
- 48:48Speaker 2: he's a good no's we get here. You might be
- 48:55Speaker 2: better Chef about telling me, and said you Chef boards Damn.
- 49:01Speaker 1: Wait, Chef, doesn't you brought up the instruction of video
- 49:06Speaker 1: my dad going to get on aout Chef yesterday clumping.
- 49:12Speaker 1: I were doing our U We're doing our weekly one
- 49:14Speaker 1: on one and kind of just talking shop. So this
- 49:16Speaker 1: door over here opened as we're sitting on the couch
- 49:19Speaker 1: over there, and when it opened, we paused talking and
- 49:22Speaker 1: we look at who's coming in. Yesterday was like Ryan,
- 49:26Speaker 1: it was Chef, but Chef was standing there and we're
- 49:29Speaker 1: staring at Chef and I'm just waiting for him to
- 49:31Speaker 1: say whatever he's gonna say, but he doesn't say anything.
- 49:33Speaker 2: He stands there and.
- 49:35Speaker 3: I just go, what do you need?
- 49:37Speaker 1: And he goes, Hey, whenever you get a minute, can
- 49:38Speaker 1: you send me the video that you where you gave
- 49:40Speaker 1: your dad instructions. I'm like, oh, yeah, yeah, absolutely, I
- 49:43Speaker 1: say yes. You guys know how you guys know how
- 49:45Speaker 1: you got a lot going on. I say yes, but
- 49:47Speaker 1: then the day's going I leave. I'm nothing until we're
- 49:50Speaker 1: here right now.
- 49:52Speaker 2: That damn it.
- 49:53Speaker 3: I forgot to send Chef that video. I was talking
- 49:55Speaker 3: to Deeke.
- 49:56Speaker 2: On that point of expectations for parents and then all
- 49:59Speaker 2: of a sudden, but I turned back over here, what
- 50:02Speaker 2: are you doing? And I was like, what did Chef
- 50:08Speaker 2: just do? What happened?
- 50:11Speaker 1: Chef does work hard, and I know he's on top
- 50:13Speaker 1: of it, so I know he thinks about it. Like
- 50:14Speaker 1: when I left, I did some of the video. I
- 50:16Speaker 1: know those moments went through his brain and Will forgot
- 50:18Speaker 1: some in the video.
- 50:19Speaker 2: Do I hit him up?
- 50:20Speaker 1: Do I not hit him up? You know what, It's
- 50:21Speaker 1: all good. He probably had a busy, he probably goes
- 50:23Speaker 1: to those mental gymnastics. But that's why I'll look at
- 50:26Speaker 1: him directly. I'm like, dude, you would annoy me like
- 50:28Speaker 1: you're I know, Chef.
- 50:30Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, for next time, I will, I'll I'll
- 50:33Speaker 4: keep pressing on it.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:34Speaker 4: It was like, hey, I could, I can't wait till
- 50:36Speaker 4: Wednesday to ask again.
- 50:38Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, from the meeting.
- 50:40Speaker 4: I have bad eyesight, by the way, so if you
- 50:41Speaker 4: guys are on the other side of the shop, I
- 50:43Speaker 4: can't see if you guys are talking or looking at
- 50:45Speaker 4: me if I don't have my context in. That was
- 50:47Speaker 4: a yesterday thing, so that's probably why I just stared
- 50:50Speaker 4: at you look an idiot. And I was like, and
- 50:52Speaker 4: then I hear the door didn't.
- 50:54Speaker 3: Even fully come all the way open. He didn't fully
- 50:56Speaker 3: come in.
- 50:56Speaker 1: He didn't like he opened it enough to where he
- 50:59Speaker 1: I yeah, the contact thing.
- 51:01Speaker 2: I felt like he saw what was going on.
- 51:03Speaker 1: So he was in a spot to where I thought
- 51:05Speaker 1: he was gonna shut the door and be like, Okay,
- 51:06Speaker 1: I'll come back later, but he kind of kept it.
- 51:08Speaker 3: He kind of got it open like this one and
- 51:10Speaker 3: he's just standing there.
- 51:11Speaker 2: For like eight Mississippi.
- 51:14Speaker 4: It was one where I said, should I walk away
- 51:16Speaker 4: and close the door immediately? And I said, maybe if
- 51:19Speaker 4: I stand here, they'll look at me and address it.
- 51:21Speaker 4: But it looks very important, so I feel like it
- 51:24Speaker 4: was a very odd I was like, are they talking
- 51:27Speaker 4: serious ball right now?
- 51:28Speaker 2: And I need to get the fuck out and we'll
- 51:29Speaker 2: just wait and see Dad.
- 51:30Speaker 6: Hack for chef. When I have those situations, I go,
- 51:33Speaker 6: you guys kissing? Yeah, yeah, he knows every time they're
- 51:37Speaker 6: they're doing like a secret.
- 51:38Speaker 2: I go you guys kissing and they're like, yeah, we're issing.

- 55:01Speaker 1: But hey, but the instruction in the coach, the coaching
- 55:04Speaker 1: for OPAH in my brain isn't anything technical. No, it's
- 55:09Speaker 1: the mentality when you're in the pocket and chaos is
- 55:12Speaker 1: going on. Yeah, I need you to stay in it,
- 55:15Speaker 1: lean into it, stay calm for everybody else, and no
- 55:19Speaker 1: tucking tail, let that tail out, keep it waw, don't
- 55:21Speaker 1: get mad, and meets and meet the energy where the
- 55:23Speaker 1: energy's at. Yes, because now I'm losing you. You're too
- 55:27Speaker 1: good a player to lose yourself.
- 55:30Speaker 2: That's that's the overarching theme there.
- 55:34Speaker 1: Yeah, for everyone involved, stay poised.
- 55:38Speaker 2: Not the charo Dennett she was fighting eight battles with.
- 55:42Speaker 2: She's just trying to have a great, great date night.
- 55:44Speaker 1: Yeah. We got Chalc here taking care of Thank god
- 55:46Speaker 1: that my parents want to come over swim with him
- 55:48Speaker 1: in the pool.
- 55:49Speaker 2: Yeah, but you stay poised by staying out of it.
- 55:54Speaker 2: It sounds like Charles state poise of like she could
- 55:56Speaker 2: have really lost it on somebody over the matter.
- 55:59Speaker 1: Like another thing that led into it is right before
- 56:01Speaker 1: we left, the kiddos were outside in the pool with
- 56:03Speaker 1: Lola and Open playing in the pool. Yeah, Lola was
- 56:06Speaker 1: on Scottie and she's sitting there with Scottie. I guess
- 56:08Speaker 1: Scotty might have thrown a ball. I didn't see what happened.
- 56:12Speaker 1: Scottie falls and cracks her head on the edge like
- 56:14Speaker 1: the corner part of the pool, like the hot top
- 56:18Speaker 1: part that leaks into the pool. She's crying, Me and
- 56:21Speaker 1: my like, me and Charle were upstairs. We're bandaging her up.
- 56:25Speaker 1: She's got a little blood, she's she's upset. I was
- 56:28Speaker 1: wondering what happened. Hey, it's all good. We finally get
- 56:31Speaker 1: out of the house going date night. But then it
- 56:33Speaker 1: ends the way it ends. It's like, yeah, we're not
- 56:38Speaker 1: gonna go undefeated.
- 56:40Speaker 2: No, you know what I'm saying. No, we're not gonna
- 56:43Speaker 2: go undefeated. There, but I needed that date night. That
- 56:47Speaker 2: was that was rivalry week, and you needed a W.
- 56:49Speaker 1: I needed a fat W because then on Sunday, that's
- 56:52Speaker 1: when we were going to DC for the UFC two
- 56:54Speaker 1: fifty Freedom Fight Lord, and then I was in Chicago
- 56:58Speaker 1: on Monday, so I was traveling in that couple of days.
- 57:01Speaker 1: Mom's gonna be on the responsibility, She's going to be
- 57:03Speaker 1: on the wall.
- 57:04Speaker 2: Yeah, so I needed that night. We got Mama, ain't happy,
- 57:09Speaker 2: ain't nobody? Yeah, Okay. Because of time, we can jump
- 57:15Speaker 2: into dad hacks and then I think from dad hacks,
- 57:19Speaker 2: we go right into our voicemails and email just to
- 57:25Speaker 2: make sure we get everything.
- 57:26Speaker 1: This one's from Eric Foss on Spotify Dad Hack of
- 57:29Speaker 1: the Week Eric Faust on Spotify. When traveling with younger kids,
- 57:33Speaker 1: leave in the middle of the night so they can sleep.
- 57:36Speaker 1: The whole way might seem like a burden at the time,
- 57:39Speaker 1: but worth than not having to go back to the
- 57:42Speaker 1: back of the car all the time. And by the way,
- 57:44Speaker 1: from my man, that's a fan duel. This isn't an email, bro, this.
- 57:48Speaker 2: Is not any well did you miss reading it?
- 57:51Speaker 1: I kind of hit a couple of things, but I
- 57:53Speaker 1: would like they've also got to understand and I need
- 57:56Speaker 1: you to back me up on this. Some of the
- 57:59Speaker 1: some times there are misspellings in grammatical errors that disrupt
- 58:05Speaker 1: the flow of the sin. So you got to like
- 58:07Speaker 1: almost go back because I'm not reading these things before
- 58:09Speaker 1: we do the show. We read them on air, so
- 58:12Speaker 1: that way we can have natural reactions to So sometimes
- 58:15Speaker 1: the grammar and everything else is a little out of place.
- 58:18Speaker 1: It's not just my brain shut. My brain can do that. Yes,
- 58:21Speaker 1: I just want people to know it's it's it's trying
- 58:24Speaker 1: to pass the buck a little bit, dad hack to
- 58:26Speaker 1: get on the show. Use punctuation, use paragraphs, space it out.
- 58:31Speaker 1: If it's one block of text. I'm not handing that
- 58:32Speaker 1: to Willie. See space it out. Let's use some punctuation, guys.
- 58:35Speaker 1: Adult email does have a spell check feature.
- 58:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and I can read. You can, dude, You're a
- 58:42Speaker 2: great reader. I can read damn it. Yeah, I heard
- 58:48Speaker 2: that's a quote. Graphic. Christopher Wall on Spotify says, little
- 58:56Speaker 2: wedding ringac froid, you're swimming, working in the yard, just
- 59:00Speaker 2: whatever you need to take it off, especially when not
- 59:02Speaker 2: at home. Get a little carabiner for your car keys
- 59:06Speaker 2: and you can just pop that sucker on that ring.
- 59:09Speaker 1: And yeah, it's much easier to keep track of love that.
- 59:12Speaker 1: Aaron Lyle on Spotify, here's a dad hack. Become a
- 59:15Speaker 1: pro with swaddowing those kiddos in the little burritos and
- 59:18Speaker 1: getting them to go down for naps in bed.
- 59:20Speaker 3: Instant shockwave coupon Boys Dude.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Also huge shout out to my boy Brian Cox BC four,
- 59:28Speaker 2: who just had his daughter Lucy on July second, his
- 59:36Speaker 2: first couple of weeks or sorry on May twenty third. Hello,
- 59:43Speaker 2: I was like, she was almost my birthday twin, not
- 59:47Speaker 2: Scarlet's birthday twin. Yikes, But it sounds like the first
- 59:52Speaker 2: couple of weeks are going very well. And from everything
- 59:56Speaker 2: that he listened to the show, he said it prepared
- 59:59Speaker 2: him for worst case scenario. It hasn't gotten to that
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: point as far as like night watching everything, so he said,
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: all the dad hacks everything they've been helping. He was like,
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: I was expecting like just death every single day, and
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: because there's not that, I'm like, Okay, we're surviving. Yeah,
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: and we're getting our little cat naps in here and there,
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: so it's all good. I do also have.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: I hope he really took in the in law conversation.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Yeah, no, definitely there is.
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: Something to that.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: There would there would always be before ru came. This
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: is always something that kind of like grinded my gears.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: But people would talk about how hard it is to
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: have kids. Just wait till you have kids. Oh, you
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: won't get to do that again, Wait till you have
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: gid Oh oh my kids.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: We'll make sure you get it done now.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Because once the kids go, yeah, and then you almost
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: you're anchored so much there that when we were raising
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: rue and doing all this stuff, then you have Scotti,
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: the people that when you only have one, the folks
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: that have too that just wait, wait till, wait till
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: there's two of them. Oh you think it's easy, now,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: wait till and then like you know, Charing are sitting
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: there dapping each other up on side because we're like.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Dude, it just is like you just wait till they's
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: not that third one. Wait till there's a fourth.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: Oh, you're not out numbered yet, Wait till there's three.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: And it almost puts a little chip on your shoulder
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: to when you do get in the trenches in embrace,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: you feel like my man coming out of it. So
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: that does fire me up. Yeah, And he listens to
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: us go on and on about all this stuff, and
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: he feels prepared towards like, oh, shit, they're not dying
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: all the time.
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: Yeah, Oh okay, they just eat shit and sleep that. Oh.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: I just have to be on top of my shit. Yeah,
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: And I'm prepared for them.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: And he's doing all the bottle feeds, dude, Yeah, he said,
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: he takes care of all the bottle feeds. He's getting
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: the pump parts ready for the wife. He's on it.

- 1:04:36Speaker 3: That rips strong jawel line. He's just talking about this.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: He's on his hell. He looks good.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: I have one more shout of this from Brian Friedman.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Here's a shout.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: Out that he deserves.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: Come on, I want to give a huge shout out
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: to my husband Jordan for his first Father's Day.
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: Our sweet boy.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: He's only a few months old, but he's already won
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: the dad Lottery and I couldn't be more grateful to
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: be raising him alongside such an incredible man. He is
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: the backbone of our family and watching him love, care for,
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: and show up for our son and myself every single
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: day has made embracing the suck so much easier. Thank
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: you for an amazing podcast that has given Jordan the
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: confidence to become the best first time father that I
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: knew he could be. He deserves all the praise and
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: a shout out from the boys. Love you, guys. Empty
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: six three.
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: I got Ryan macklin or also known as Ryan McCallan.
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: If he's Irish. Yeah, Hailey, his wife and had her
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: birthday on June eleventh. Happy belated birthday. Belated birthday. And
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: you want to talk about beautiful families, boom baby, they
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: got their little baby there, they got the beautiful little family. Pick.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: I am sorry that we are flying through these shout outs.
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: We are very tight on time. But one to make
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: sure that Ryan's birthday shout out to his wife. He
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: did get read Ryan. We would have read this, but
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: we had the dad episode last week. It's a little late.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: He sent it in on time, Hayley, He sent it
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: in on time.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: He said it in on time. He said it on time.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Jake Kurney, just quick, this is a quick one. Quig
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: Kearney on Spotify. When the wife he threads to hire
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: a guy, that's when the beat fix comes out. Oh god,
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: you want dude. I'm being serious that I I'll keep
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: this short.
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: Nothing makes me more mad when it's something that I
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: know I'm capable of. And Jill would go, do you
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: want me called Cody her stepdad? What if I just
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: called Cody? Do you think Cody would know how to
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: do fiting words? Hey, Cody, I love you. We don't
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: need to be calling Cody. What are we calling Cody
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: about I know how to do it.
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: That's for me and you. That's I'm like, that's a
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: great idea, call Cody, call them.
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: I love that because it really is like there's some
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: people take way too much pride in the fact that
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: they think that they could do it. AKA me and I, Oh, hey,
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: guess guess what. Dog is still getting out. Got a
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: little ring notification from our sweet neighbor Katie of my
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: dog sitting on her front porch after I, Oh, I'm
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: gonna do the fence. I'm gonna put up all this stuff.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: We're not hiring somebody to do it. Dog's still getting out,
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: Dogs still getting out.
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: Love it.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: I got a voicemail for us hit it this like
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: so one of the dads, this one's called Mancola, dad loss.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: What up?
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: What up?
- 1:07:35Speaker 8: Mister fast staffer and wheely one shelf.
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: Yeah, just here to report.
- 1:07:42Speaker 8: Ah, he'd report a.
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: Dad loss on my end of things over here. Had
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: the UH.
- 1:07:51Speaker 8: Had my nearly two year old son on the camper
- 1:07:55Speaker 8: with me, were getting it ready for camping season out
- 1:07:57Speaker 8: here in Idaho, and we had our Mancala set just
- 1:08:02Speaker 8: sitting down on the table, and UH, I didn't think
- 1:08:06Speaker 8: twice about it, then double checked to make sure he
- 1:08:08Speaker 8: wasn't getting into the beads. About two days later, the wife,
- 1:08:13Speaker 8: if he's like, uh, bab, what's this look in the diaper? No,
- 1:08:19Speaker 8: He's got like three man Cali beads in it. I'm like,
- 1:08:23Speaker 8: oh no, I'm like that's bad. But he's okay. Nothing
- 1:08:28Speaker 8: happened to him.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: Good anyway.
- 1:08:31Speaker 8: Yeah, y'all take care and uh, definitely don't keep it
- 1:08:34Speaker 8: under an hour.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: Audio definitely don't keep it under an hour. So question
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: what did he have in the diaper?
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: He had pieces from the board game mancla. If we
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: could bring up an image of that, what's a man
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: call it m A n c A LA.
- 1:08:51Speaker 6: It's the game with the rocks that are colorful that
- 1:08:53Speaker 6: you put around a board and go in.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: And the baby got three and it went in and
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: came back out and the baby's fine.
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: Apparently pooped it out.
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Oh shitty, ate them, he ate him. I thought we're
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: saying he just stuffed him in the diapers. Days later
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: he said he's okay. Oh past him, God past him.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: Thank god he didn't joke on him. Bro.
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: That's nightmare. Feel for my wife. That is choking is
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: like her dain. No way his wife was that chill
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: about it. What's this? How many more or less? My question?
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: Yeah, if there's a way to count, how many pieces coming?
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: Oh no, thank god he's all right, Thank got god.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: Funny story that was very bored game, he shipped out, Yes.
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: Okay, we do, Deek. I want to parlay this email.
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: I feel like deserves really good treatment. Can we can
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: we pun it? Is that? Okay? We we have We
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: have fifteen minutes until ten fifty five. Okay, cool, so
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: we can dive there too. I should do the two
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: emails and we'll be good. Okay, cool, cool?
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: Do you have any do mine first or do you
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: want to go first? Because I don't know which one
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: you're talking?
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: You go for all right?
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: Hey, shoe time, showtime, showtime, lock in plus twenty five hundred.
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: Excuse me?
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: Tiara Temple on email. Hey guys, my name is Tiara.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: My husband Jeordi is a huge fan and turned me
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: onto the pod. He's way too embarrassed to ride in himself,
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: so like any good wife, I'm doing it for him. Go.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: This is his in the trenches story. I was sitting
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: on the couch holding our two month old daughter, our
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: first child. So I'll admit I was probably a little overprotective,
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: and when I suddenly spotted a mouse casually sitting on
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: a log in our fireplace, naturally I called my husband
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: and gave him one job to do get rid of
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: the mouse. What followed was hours of absolute chaos. After
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: multiple failed attempts to catch it, the crafty little sucker
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: launched itself out of the fireplace and sprint it across
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: our living room floor. At that point I made my
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: husband turn the entire house upside down. There was no
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: chance I was going to sleep. Knowing a rodent could
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: be crawling around near our baby. He cut open the
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: lining underneath our couch to make sure the mouse wasn't
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: hiding inside traps everywhere. Meanwhile, I had barricaded myself and
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: the baby in our bedroom with towels stuffed under the
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: door good. By this point, I was furious and my
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: husband felt like a complete failure. Then around ten pm,
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: we heard the most beautiful sound in the world.
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: Snap.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: The mouse had fallen for a trap by the fridge.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: The relief was immediate. Come on, the mouse was gone,
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: the baby was safe, and my husband could finally go
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: to sleep.
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: No, I wasn't going to kill him.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: Come on, thanks for all you do, Tiara, Tiara, I'll.
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: Tell you right now, Jill, listening to the episode just
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: relived PTSD, we have the exact same scenario happened at
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: the house. There is no worse feeling than just not
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: being knowing that the mouse is real, that the enemy
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: is real and it's out there and it's elusive and
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: you can't fucking catch it. Yeah, I was losing sleep.
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: I was losing sleep, and when I saw him, I'll
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: try to keep it PG. But when I saw that
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: little body in the trap, I did. I danced. It's
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: like you little fuck you stand over him and hit
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: the hit the Oh my god, my stink they sink.
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: Amanda Clark, this one is lengthy because her husband sent
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: an email it didn't get onto the show. Then there
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: was a further story that came with it, and Amanda
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: wrote in the further story into the show and it's
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: actually an epic one. Deeke did an awesome job finding
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: this one. I will dive in. Amanda Clark says, Hi,
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: dad's my name is Amanda, and my husband has been
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: a longtime fan of BWTB and more recent fan of
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: for the Dads since we found out that I'm pregnant
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: with our first baby boy. Congratulations. Brian emailed you guys
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: a few weeks ago about the bad motorcycle accident that
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: he was in at that exact same time that they
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: found out that she was pregnant. It would mean everything
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: to him to hear from you, especially during an incredibly
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: physically and mentally difficult recovery of his broken leg. I
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: also know from reading the email he sent to you
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: guys a he significantly underplayed how much your podcast had
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: impacted him over the past few months. I've seen it
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: firsthand and wanted to reach out and tell you about Brian.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: From my point of view, Brian and I have been
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: together for thirteen years and married for almost four We've
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: stayed together despite years of long distance moving to and
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: from Canada, and we've experienced a lot of ups and
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: downs in between. For the last thirteen years, Brian has
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: been my rock throughout complicated family dynamics, my significant mental
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: health challenges, and the stress caused by veterinary school and
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: specialty residencies. Brian's love and commitment to our relationship and
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: little family and future has never wavered. A lot of
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: things have changed over the years, but I've always been
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: able to count on Brian to be that constant, steady
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: force in my life. Brian started riding his motorcycles a
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: few years ago and instantly fell in love. It was
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: one of the ways he could relax and see the
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: beauty of the world, which was especially important during times
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: when life felt heavy. When we found out I was pregnant,
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: Brian told me that he was going to give up
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: riding for the baby. We talked about the dangers and
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: risk of riding, but I didn't want him to give
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: it up because I saw how much he enjoyed it.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: It had quickly become a huge part of his life,
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: and I couldn't take that away from him. Unfortunately, a
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: few weeks ago, Brian got into an accident while riding
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: his motorcycle to work. He got t boned by an SUV,
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: and even though he was only going thirty five, the
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: acceleration of the other car caused significant damage to his bike.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: He ended up to him and his bike. He ended
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: up breaking both bones in his lower right leg, which,
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: according to that doctor, requires an incredible amount of force. Somehow,
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: he was able to call me after he got hit,
- 1:15:36Speaker 2: and I got him and I got to him before
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: the EMTs. I felt so helpless seeing him like that,
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: and it broke something in me and I don't think
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: I'll ever get back. Luckily, he stayed conscious despite being
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: in shock and in a lot of pain. Long story short,
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: His worst injury was his leg fracture, which required orthopedic
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: surgery and placement of a large metal rod through the
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: length of his tibia. He was lucky to walk away
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: from the accident with his life and without any head injuries.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: Brian has a long recovery in front of him. He's
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: had to rely on a walker and now it cane
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: to walk, and has been making progress walking longer distances
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: and even going upstairs. He's never been someone who relies
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: on other people for help, and he rarely even asked
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: for it. Transitioning from the mentality of constantly needing help
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: and being physically limited have taken a toll on him.
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: He's making progress, but I know that he wishes things
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: would progress faster. He has done this at his best
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: to stay positive and has really only had brief moments
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: of negativity. Not really sure how he does it, but
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: I don't think i'd be able to in this situation.
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: He has made the decision to stop riding motorcycles, which
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: is heartbreaking, but he realizes how lucky he is to
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: still be alive after the accident and thinks it's for
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: the best. This is where you guys come in. Brian
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: started listening or the Dads in April has continued to
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: listen every week. He has shared funny stories with me
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: that have been discussed on the podcast, and also relayed
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: some helpful parenting hacks that you've got you guys have shared.
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: I think that your podcast is one of the reasons
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: that Brian has been able to stay positive during his recovery.
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: He's so excited for our little guy to join the
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: world this December and has definitely given him something to
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: look forward to. He has learned so much from your podcast.
- 1:17:24Speaker 2: Is pumped to have been prompted promoted from Seman Team
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: six to pop A Team six your podcast or pop
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: A Team six and training is what she put Your
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: podcast has been a ray of light during some difficult
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: times for him, especially in the last few weeks. I
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: think it would be really easy for him to let
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: the negativity overwhelm him. In this situation, but you guys
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: have helped put everything in perspective for him, especially in
- 1:17:50Speaker 2: context of being in a motorcycle ACCT with a baby
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: on the way. Thank you from the bottom of my
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: heart for all that you do and forgiving Brian so
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: much hope and optimism for his future as a member
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: of Papa Team six. He's going to be an amazing dad.
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: I can't wait for our little boy to grow up
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: with Brian as his dad. I know that you probably
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: get a lot of these emails, but I've seen how
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: impactful your podcast has been on Brian. I know he
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: would be a static for a response from you in
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: a shout out on the podcast Amanda Milk Team six
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: in Training Let's Go. So that comes from Amanda Clark.
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: Here's the picture of his leg. Dude. Oh, one point
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: that I want to point out, just because Jill was
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: in a pretty high trauma floor in hospitals. Yeah, and
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: something that she saw a lot of helmets. Helmets. Helmets, dude,
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: saves lives. Anybody that needs to hear that wear a helmet,
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: wear a helmet because you look at the damage of
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: that helmet. Dude, Brian's on here. If he's not wearing
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: a helmet, Like that's just cut and dry. He's on here.
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: If he's not wearing a helmet, Yeah, wear a helmet,
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: but dude, what a stud just to show it looks
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: like a nice a nice compound.
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: Frack a nice compound.
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: Break who both of them burrow the bike?
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: Look at the My god, I mean, thank god he's okay, dude,
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: Thank god Brian made it.
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: Thank you for writing into.
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: Yeah, thank you for writing in. It's really exciting to
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: like hear stories of like these families before the kiddos come,
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: and it's very humbling to hear like, oh, my husband's
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: so excited, da da da, But it does it makes
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: me happy that, like my friend Brian that I'm on
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: the phone with this morning, Hey, the stuff in the
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: podcast blah blah blah. He hit me up before his
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: daughter Lucy was even here and was like, hey, what'd
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: you do during night shifts again? Run me through that,
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: Like what does that look like? All those little tidbits
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: that we on a piece of paper are like, Okay.
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: We got make sure we go over dad hacks. We
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: got to make sure we go over dad losses.
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: Like those are truly things that like people take away
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: from this show and that's like crazy.
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: Yeah, it's cool, man, it's cool. And by the way,
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: just a corrector. PAPA Team six and training. He's now
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: in training, but he completed Buds training. He completed buds
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: just to round out the language.
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he was in Seeming Team six. Yeah,
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: hit buds train, hit budgs training, completed Buds training and
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: is now PAPA Team six in training or future pt
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: SIICO as we have said on the show. Yeah, pt
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: SICO to B pt sico to be p t siico
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: to letter B. Yeah, yeah, that's gonna be somebody's user
- 1:20:46Speaker 2: name PT six two B. Yeah.
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: PT six two B.
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: We just shortened that. We did, bro. We cooked right
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: there and we are right at the finish line on time.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: Hey, love you, Bri, and thank you Amanda. Thank you
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: for all the kind words. Thank you for also speaking
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: for Brian. Brian should always be excited to I can't
