Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherry Mackie
- 0:03Speaker 1: in its time for today's word, choosing joy in every season,
- 0:12Speaker 1: choosing joy in every season. Philippians says, rejoice in the
- 0:17Speaker 1: Lord allways. I will say it again, rejoice. You know,
- 0:23Speaker 1: when the apostle Paul wrote today's scripture, he wasn't sitting
- 0:27Speaker 1: in comfort, enjoying the good life, or surrounded by ease. No,
- 0:32Speaker 1: Paul had been falsely accused, unfairly in prison and left
- 0:37Speaker 1: waiting for years without justice. On top of that, on
- 0:42Speaker 1: his way to Rome, he had survived a storm at
- 0:46Speaker 1: sea and even a shipwreck by every natural measure, Paul
- 0:51Speaker 1: had plenty of reasons to complain, to be bitter, to
- 0:56Speaker 1: feel forgotten by God. Yet instead his letter resounds with joy.
- 1:01Speaker 1: He says, not once but twice, Rejoice in the Lord always. Again,
- 1:06Speaker 1: I say rejoice. Paul is teaching us something so powerful.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Joy is not dependent on what is happening around us.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Joy is a choice rooted in what's happening within us.
- 1:20Speaker 1: If our happiness is tied to circumstances, we'll live on
- 1:24Speaker 1: an emotional roller coaster. Up when things are good, down
- 1:28Speaker 1: when things are not. But when joy is anchored in
- 1:31Speaker 1: God's presence, his promises, and his goodness. Nothing can shake it.
- 1:37Speaker 1: So the truth is anyone can complain. Anyone can rehearse
- 1:43Speaker 1: the disappointments. Anyone can rehearse the delays, the difficulties. But
- 1:48Speaker 1: complaining never changes anything. It only drains your strength. Paul
- 1:54Speaker 1: reminds us to lift our focus higher, to keep praising
- 1:59Speaker 1: when we like pouting, to thank God in the middle
- 2:02Speaker 1: of the storm, and to believe for victory even when
- 2:05Speaker 1: defeat sings closer. What are your feeding your thoughts today?
- 2:12Speaker 1: Are you filling your mind with discouragement. I'll never get well,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I'll never get ahead. I can't be happy after this loss?
- 2:21Speaker 1: Or are you filling your heart with faith? God is
- 2:25Speaker 1: still on the throne, He's ordering my steps. Greater is
- 2:28Speaker 1: he who is in me than he who is in
- 2:31Speaker 1: the world. Paul goes on to tell us think on
- 2:35Speaker 1: things that are true, noble, right here, lovely, admirable. If
- 2:42Speaker 1: anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about such things. See,
- 2:47Speaker 1: that's the key to living with joy. When you set
- 2:51Speaker 1: your mind on hope instead of fear, of gratitude, instead
- 2:54Speaker 1: of complaints, you position yourself to rise above the storm
- 2:59Speaker 1: to make the decision. No matter what comes, I will rejoice.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I will choose joy, not because everything is perfect, but
- 3:08Speaker 1: because I serve a God who is Father. Thank you
- 3:14Speaker 1: for being our source of true joy. No matter what
- 3:18Speaker 1: our circumstances look like, we choose to lift our eyes
- 3:21Speaker 1: to You. Help us to guard our thoughts, to focus
- 3:25Speaker 1: on what is good, what is hopeful and full of
- 3:28Speaker 1: your promises. God, we will rejoice today because we know
- 3:33Speaker 1: you are in control and working all things out for
- 3:37Speaker 1: our good. In Jesus name, that's your word for today.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I want you to take that apply to your everyday life.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Can you continue to be encouraged and inspire choosing joy
- 3:49Speaker 1: in every season with your Early Whatry Praise Party? I
- 3:53Speaker 1: am Sherry Mackie
