- 0:34SPEAKER_01: Welcome back to the High Level Wife.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: I am Chelsea Holm, your hostess.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: And we do marriage gods right here.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: And I was just bringing my oldest daughter to tumbling here.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: And uh I don't know how we got started talking about it.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: I think it's oh, I know.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: So we were, he was like, close your mouth and sing a song.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: And I was like, okay, done.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: We're one thing you gotta know about our family is like we're all someone's always singing something.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: Like, um Zach loves to sing, I'm always singing, Emma is always singing, like Folly is always singing.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Uh when we have when we're in the car, the kids are always like, radio on, song's on, like let's go.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: Like, and we're we're pretty much always listening to the Christian music radio station.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: Um, but also anyway, so we all just we love to sing, and we anyway, so singing, yes, we will.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Uh so I was like, okay, sure.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: So I was singing, and she turns out she recorded it, and I was like, well, that's hysterical.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: And so we were just being silly, and and I told her, I was like, you know what I used to do?
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: Like, let's just go walking down memory lane because we didn't used to have phones when I was your age.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: She's about to turn 15.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: And I was like, let me tell you what I did.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: I said, you know, when our favorite artist released a new CD, we would go buy said CD.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: We would take out the pamphlet, and we would pop that CD in our big old stereo system, right?
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: And we would listen to those songs on repeat and read those lyrics and learn every word, right?
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: As quickly as possible.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: Like complete dedication.
- 2:15SPEAKER_01: Am I right?
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: So don't tell me that you can't memorize scripture, girlfriend.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: There are so many worship songs now that are literally straight scripture, but nonetheless, do you know the way that I memorize scripture is I just read it and keep studying it, like and just stay with it and meditate on it.
- 2:31SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't have to intentionally memorize it, like I just have to study it and like keep reading it.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: Like, God's had me in Ephesians now for like two years, and I'll tell you what, before this is this two years is done and leading this study um for high-level wife every week, like I'm gonna have the whole book of Ephesians memorized.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: Um, anyway, I digress.
- 2:54SPEAKER_01: I always do.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: Uh, so I was telling Holly about this, and she's looking at me like, wow, that's kind of weird.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: And I was like, oh, but better yet, do you know what I did when my family wasn't home?
- 3:02SPEAKER_01: Like, my dad had this huge stereo system in the living room, and I used to crank it up, and I would sing like I don't know, I guess Titanic was big then.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: I don't know, My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: I would belt it out of the top of my lungs, like right in front of this the stereo.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: It's a wonder that I can still hear.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: And that was that was uh a sick Friday night, right?
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: Like it was so fun, like and um, but then that got me thinking about like, oh, you know what I used to do is I used to blast DC Talks Jesus Freak on the stereo, on my dad's stereo.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: And um, I was like, Holly, have you ever heard that song?
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: And she's like, No, I don't think so.
- 3:42SPEAKER_01: And I was like, are you in for a Tariet?
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: Tariet.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: Okay, so we're we're still driving.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: It's actually a it's a it's a wonder we made it to Tumbling tonight because I was rocking out so hard that I'm surprised.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: You know, I I didn't get pulled over, and they're like, you know, you need to you're at a 10.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: I need you to bring it down to a three.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: Like, can't worship that hard in the vehicle because you're gonna crash, right?
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: Anyway, no, so we got here, we're good, we're safe.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: It was fine.
- 4:13SPEAKER_01: Anyway, but come on, do you know this song?
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: Do you know DC talks Jesus Freak?
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: Like, this song slaps, it is fire, like it's still fire today.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Like, I was just reading over the lyrics.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: I mean, it was funny.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: It it took me a hot second to remember the lyrics, but then it all came rushing back and just all the like just rocking out, and and it was really fun, like you know, Holly and I just being silly together, and I was like, Did you just see us a church rocking out this hard?
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: She's like, Yeah, you know, and um, you know, it but like for real though, when we're talking about rocking out to the Lord, like worshiping the Lord, how often are we emulating David where he danced before the Lord with all of his might?
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: Like, because we're too worried about what people think, or who's watching us, or if we're distracting somebody, or like, why are we thinking about anybody else when when we're in in when we're worshiping the Lord, you know, and like what does it look like to emulate David's heart of just full abandon?
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: And when his wife called him out for his weirdness and extreme extremeness, right?
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: He was like, Man, if that ticked you off, well just wait, just wait, girlfriend, because what I'm about to do is really gonna, you know, like is really gonna make you mad, kind of thing, right?
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: Like, anyway, uh and then the Lord closed her womb.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: She never had any kids, like that's crazy, huh?
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: Like, that's pretty crazy.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: All because she essentially criticized David for worshiping the Lord with his full heart and every part of his being, right?
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: So, so we have to ask the question of like, how am I worshiping the Lord?
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Am I worshiping the Lord with full out abandon?
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: And if I'm not, why?
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: Because worship is one of the greatest, most powerful weapons that we have at our disposal.
- 6:27SPEAKER_00: Worship.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: The demons hate it.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: Satan wants to do everything he can to keep us from worshiping.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: It's literally what the angel, the elders casting their crowns before the thrones, they're all worshiping endlessly forever and ever.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: That's literally their job.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: And if we fail to worship God, the rocks will cry out.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: So are we worshiping with our full every cell in our body?
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: And if we aren't, then why?
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: And and I'll get a little vulnerable with you here, and it's like, you know, it's funny.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Lots of people struggle with vulnerability, not me.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: Not been something I've ever struggled with.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: Actually, quite the opposite is true.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: I've struggled with casting my pearls before swine, of being vulnerable with people who don't know what to do with that, and they do ill with it.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: But it doesn't matter.
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: That's not up to me.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: That's up to the Lord.
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: Um, so being vulnerable with you, like I I've struggled with this.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: Um, like there was there was a long time where I really was a lukewarm Christian, right?
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: Going to church, caring about what I looked like and how people perceived me, and you know, more concerned about what people were thinking about me and like self-righteousness than any part of the Lord.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: It was horrible.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: Like looking back, it just grieves my heart that I was like that.
- 8:07SPEAKER_01: But even now today, like in church, like I worship the Lord, I dance around, right?
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: Like I lift my hands, but and I've shared with you before that lifting my hands, that was a weird thing for me because it wasn't something that I was used to.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: But like God's word tells us that that we lift our hands in praise, right?
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: And honestly, if we're if we're before the Lord and worshiping, a lot of times the response was to to cry out and fall face down, right?
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: Like, well, let's get let's get on some of that, let's do that.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: But but I still sometimes like while I'm worshiping, I still have that thought in the back of my head, like I want to lift my arms, but there is something in me that like will hold me back.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: And I'm just totally being real and and honest and vulnerable with you that like I'm still exploring and I'm asking the Lord, like, search me and know me and reveal any wayward way in me.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: Like, what is that?
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: What is that thing that's keeping me from throwing my hands up?
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: And you know, um, and I know that God is faithful and He will reveal that in His timing.
- 9:07SPEAKER_01: And um, you know, I'm actually I'm really excited because later this month, oh, my realtor's calling.
- 9:13SPEAKER_01: Okay, okay, I'm gonna have to wrap this one up quick, but uh later, later this month we're gonna be at the marriage advance weekend for high level husband, high level wife, and um as clients, actually, not as coaches as clients.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: Zach and I are going.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: And um, but on Sunday we get to go to immersion church uh that Tommy is now a pastor of that uh Jeremy, Katie's Jeremy, she coaches with me inside High Level Wife.
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: Her husband is um a de a deacon now, I think.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: Is he a deacon or is he an elder?
- 9:43SPEAKER_01: I can't remember what he is.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: Anyway, um, you know, so but this church is awesome.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: Um and I'm really excited to get in a church where not that our church isn't, I love our church.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: Like Mission Bible Church in Manooka is is awesome.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: And like the spirit's moving there, um, you know, but I also I think that there's always room for for us to grow into creating space for the spirit to move and not stifling the spirit and also having order, like having discernment of you know when things are getting to a point where we need to to bring back some order and you know, like whatever.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm not a pastor, so whatever.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: Take that as you will.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: But anyway, I'm excited to go to immersion because of this because I know that like people are worshiping with full-out abandon.
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: And like I want to experience that and taste that.
- 10:34SPEAKER_01: And um, you know, I'm not saying like, oh, I'm gonna go there and then all of a sudden I'm gonna be unlocked and my arm's gonna be raised, like you know what I'm saying?
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: Like, not at all.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: But I just wanted to be honest with you that like maybe you struggle with that too.
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: Maybe it's not even raising hands for you, maybe it's it's literally just singing the songs, or it's you know, I have no problem singing.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: Uh, but you know, maybe that's the thing for you, and like just for us to sit in that with the Lord and be like, what is this?
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: Like, is this um a fear of man that I've got going on here?
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: Or like what is this?
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: Uh, and just sitting with him in that and asking those questions, and he loves to answer those questions and to teach us and um just to grow us and refine us.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: Like, I love that God does that.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: Um, so Jesus Freak, DC Talk.
- 11:21SPEAKER_01: If you haven't listened to it ever, or if you haven't heard it in a while, go listen to it because it man, it's just such a fire, like pump you up.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: Like, I am a Jesus freak, you guys.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: And I hope you are too.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: I mean, if you're listening to me this long, like you've gotta be, or you're just crazy, or maybe you're Jesus Freak and crazy, right?
- 11:38SPEAKER_01: Like, I feel like those can go hand in hand.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: Um uh, but I I wanted to bring this episode just to challenge you.
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: Um, first of all, have fun with your kids, like show them that it's fun to to be a Jesus freak, like truly, and that like there's joy and peace and laughter, and yes, we have struggle and and and and we have to endure, right?
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: And and we're not in heaven yet.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: But like have fun with your kids.
- 12:07SPEAKER_01: And also, I mean, h with your husband, uh, please.
- 12:11SPEAKER_01: That's that would be the right order.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: It'd be God, you, your husband, and then your kids, and then everything else.
- 12:17SPEAKER_01: But you know, just having this moment with Holly reminded me of how how much we need to show that side of fun and laughter and joy of the Lord, and that like dancing to the Lord with all our might, and um, you know, but also just to to lean into worship as it's our weapon, pick it up.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: It has the divine power to destroy strongholds, okay?
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: And lastly, to sit with the Lord and ask him, you know, about your worship and about your praise and to search you and know you and um to just to reveal anything in you that's holding you back or blocking you.
- 12:57SPEAKER_01: Um, and and we can we can walk through that together because you know there are moments, as I shared, where I have those things too that I'm like, what is it that's keeping me from throwing on my hands and whatever.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: So, anyway, I will talk to you on the next episode.
