Latest / Inside the Birds: A Philadelphia Eagles Podcast / The DiCecco Daily: Three Eagles Who'll Make Bigger Impact Coming Out Of Bye Week
Transcript
- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on everybody? Welcome into this edition of
- 0:12Speaker 1: the Czech O Delhi. It's Andrew Deicecko from inside the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Birds dot Com and today I want to talk about
- 0:20Speaker 1: the three players that the Eagles should have coming out
- 0:23Speaker 1: of the bye week or at least shortly thereafter, and
- 0:26Speaker 1: how they fit into the equation, who maybe offers the
- 0:29Speaker 1: most intriguing upside and kind of unpack it from there.
- 0:33Speaker 1: So there's three players who will factor into the fifty
- 0:37Speaker 1: three man roster, and we'll start with Brandon Graham because
- 0:40Speaker 1: the Eagles have to make a decision on him relatively soon.
- 0:44Speaker 1: The two week exemption expires November third, so the Eagles
- 0:50Speaker 1: have to make a decision and get him on the
- 0:52Speaker 1: fifty three before then.
- 0:54Speaker 2: And Brandon.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I know, for Brandon, there was probably some that were
- 0:58Speaker 1: expecting him to see some time be active on Sunday
- 1:02Speaker 1: against the Giants, but that didn't happen, obviously, and it
- 1:05Speaker 1: probably happened for the best. It allows Brandon time to
- 1:08Speaker 1: continue to get back into football shape and it alleviates
- 1:12Speaker 1: any potential for injury just putting him out there for
- 1:16Speaker 1: a few snaps after just coming out of retirement. But
- 1:19Speaker 1: he's going to add to a pass rush rotation that
- 1:23Speaker 1: has a lot of youth, it has a lot of upside.
- 1:27Speaker 2: You have Jay loox Hunt, you.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Have josh Usha is Zizo, Jialari, Patrick Johnson, Johad Campbell's
- 1:37Speaker 1: moonlighted there a little bit, and another player who were
- 1:39Speaker 1: going to mention in a moment also will be a
- 1:42Speaker 1: part of that group. But for Brandon Graham, I think,
- 1:45Speaker 1: and I go back to what I said upon signing,
- 1:48Speaker 1: that it's realistic to expect fifteen to twenty snaps. Vic
- 1:53Speaker 1: Fangio has proven and he alluded to this when he
- 1:56Speaker 1: talked about Khalil Mack and when he signed him, he
- 2:00Speaker 1: gave him forty five snaps of work and he said
- 2:03Speaker 1: the fatigue police just expected him to play about twenty
- 2:06Speaker 1: or so snaps. So and even with Brandon Graham last year,
- 2:09Speaker 1: he said, this is not a farewell tour and they
- 2:11Speaker 1: weren't just going to roll him out there for ceremonial snaps.
- 2:15Speaker 2: He played Brandon Graham a lot.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I think Brandon had three hundred and eleven snaps before
- 2:18Speaker 1: he tore his tricep against the Rams, where he was
- 2:22Speaker 1: having his best game of the season.
- 2:24Speaker 2: But this version of Brandon Graham.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I think you can expect a player who's obviously going
- 2:28Speaker 1: to bring a lot of energy but help against the run.
- 2:31Speaker 2: He's going to help set the edge.
- 2:34Speaker 1: He might he's going to help a little bit in
- 2:36Speaker 1: the pass rush department, but more in terms of run defense, leadership, energy.
- 2:41Speaker 1: He's going to be out there talking and I think
- 2:44Speaker 1: a lot of players will really thrive off of that.
- 2:46Speaker 2: So I'm curious to see what he's able to provide.
- 2:49Speaker 1: His first game with Eagles will in all likelihood be
- 2:53Speaker 1: against the Green Bay Packers. And that's one of the
- 2:57Speaker 1: three players in the discussion here. The other one is
- 3:00Speaker 1: cornerback Jacoryan Bennett, and I think Jakorean Bennett's interesting because, frankly,
- 3:06Speaker 1: I was really surprised that the Eagles didn't activate.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Him for the Giants game.
- 3:11Speaker 1: He had two days of full practice Thursday and Friday.
- 3:15Speaker 2: His first day back Wednesday was limited.
- 3:18Speaker 1: He had the peck injury that he suffered Week one
- 3:21Speaker 1: against the Dallas Cowboys.
- 3:23Speaker 2: He played through it and then.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Aggravated it late in the game against the Rams and
- 3:28Speaker 1: that put him on the shelf. But in a game
- 3:31Speaker 1: that the Eagles were really lighted corner he went full
- 3:34Speaker 1: He was a full participant. They've proven that they're not
- 3:38Speaker 1: averse to throwing a player into the fire for lack
- 3:41Speaker 1: of a better term. When I look back on Zadarius Smith,
- 3:44Speaker 1: he signed earlier in the week without having played football
- 3:47Speaker 1: since January, no training camp, and he was able to play.
- 3:51Speaker 1: I believe it was like twenty snaps against the Chiefs
- 3:55Speaker 1: and look great. And Jacorey and Bennett to his credit
- 3:58Speaker 1: for what we were able to see the media attended
- 4:00Speaker 1: portion of practice, he looked pretty good.
- 4:03Speaker 2: He looked fluid, he was moving around.
- 4:05Speaker 1: He was working with Christian Parker and Quinnon Mitchell. On
- 4:08Speaker 1: Thursday's practice, he was seen to be transitioning well and
- 4:13Speaker 1: in the movement thrills that they were doing, they were
- 4:15Speaker 1: doing some ball tracking and even just talking to him
- 4:18Speaker 1: in the locker room, he seemed like a player who
- 4:22Speaker 1: was feeling good, in a really good headspace and eager
- 4:25Speaker 1: to get back after it. But the Eagles surprisingly opted
- 4:28Speaker 1: not to bring him onto the fifty three for at
- 4:31Speaker 1: least another week. But when you release someone like Perry
- 4:34Speaker 1: Nickerson from the fifty three who didn't play all that
- 4:37Speaker 1: much on defense, but he was another body, an experienced
- 4:40Speaker 1: player and at Dory Jackson's coming back. I should also
- 4:43Speaker 1: mention from the concussion, it obviously suggests that Jakorian Bennett
- 4:50Speaker 1: is on his way back and you could see him
- 4:53Speaker 1: in the.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Back on the fifty three after the bye week.
- 4:58Speaker 1: And for Jaikorean Bennett, he's an interesting player because he's
- 5:01Speaker 1: only played twenty four defensive snaps.
- 5:04Speaker 2: You don't totally know what you have in them.
- 5:06Speaker 1: When he played in the preseason or when he played
- 5:08Speaker 1: I think spot duty against the Cowboys, I believe it was.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Hey, Philly fans game day is stressful enough. Parking traffic,
- 5:17Speaker 3: long lines, We've all been there, But when it comes
- 5:20Speaker 3: to your cannabis, Camden Apothecary makes it easy. This is
- 5:24Speaker 3: the dispensary for sports fans, just minutes outside of Philly,
- 5:29Speaker 3: with plenty of free parking. You'll be in and out fast,
- 5:32Speaker 3: no hassle, no waiting, and they don't just care about convenience.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Camden Apothecary is all about the guest experience. Their staff
- 5:40Speaker 3: makes sure you feel taken care of every time you
- 5:43Speaker 3: walk in. Plus they carry only the best quality cannabis
- 5:47Speaker 3: at the fairest prices, so whether you're stocking up for
- 5:50Speaker 3: the tailgate the watch party or celebrating a big win.
- 5:54Speaker 3: You know you're getting the good stuff without overpaying. They
- 5:58Speaker 3: even show love to the community with specials for fans, students,
- 6:02Speaker 3: service members, and healthcare pros can din Apothecary, top quality cannabis,
- 6:08Speaker 3: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans twenty
- 6:11Speaker 3: one and up.
- 6:12Speaker 1: He allowed some catches, but he was right there. He
- 6:16Speaker 1: has really tight windows, He's sticky in coverage. He has
- 6:20Speaker 1: some good ball skills. Injuries have been an issue with him.
- 6:23Speaker 1: It's sort of been something that's plagued him dating back
- 6:26Speaker 1: to his time with the Raiders, and he you know,
- 6:29Speaker 1: mostly with the shoulder, but he had the peck injury here.
- 6:32Speaker 1: But I'm curious whether or not the Eagles are sold
- 6:35Speaker 1: on what they've seen from either Kighy Ringo or Dorri Jackson,
- 6:38Speaker 1: or if Jackryan Bennett can kind of go in there
- 6:40Speaker 1: and be afforded an opportunity this late in the season
- 6:43Speaker 1: to put his stamp on a starting role or at
- 6:46Speaker 1: least try to carve out a complimentary role. I like
- 6:49Speaker 1: his body type. I think he can play physical. He's
- 6:51Speaker 1: a strong tackler, and there's just not enough data to
- 6:56Speaker 1: go off of at least in this system in Philadelphia,
- 6:59Speaker 1: to make a determined one way or the other. So
- 7:01Speaker 1: I think to give yourself the best chance and leave
- 7:03Speaker 1: no stone unturned, which the Eagles are prone to do,
- 7:07Speaker 1: it would behoove them to find a way to get you,
- 7:10Speaker 1: Corey Embnnett on the field against the Green Bay Packers
- 7:13Speaker 1: in some capacity to get a better evaluation. And who knows,
- 7:16Speaker 1: maybe you find something there. Maybe you have your cornerback
- 7:19Speaker 1: that you want to move.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Forward with to pair with QUINNYA. Mitchell. So that's an
- 7:23Speaker 2: interesting one there.
- 7:24Speaker 1: And then rounding things out, No One Smith, So No
- 7:28Speaker 1: One Smith did not have his twenty one day practice
- 7:31Speaker 1: window opened to this point of the recording. But when
- 7:36Speaker 1: he suffered the triceps injury, it was of the belief
- 7:40Speaker 1: that he was expected to return sometime in November. And
- 7:44Speaker 1: I've seen him out there on the practice field working
- 7:47Speaker 1: and with a trainer, and it seems like he's trending
- 7:51Speaker 1: in a positive direction. He's been around in the locker
- 7:53Speaker 1: room and things like that, and the Eagles really need him.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Hey, I still like a good night out, but I'm
- 7:59Speaker 3: not always in the mood to drink, and that's why
- 8:01Speaker 3: I looked for a great alternative, and I found one.

- 9:19Speaker 3: birds brds. That's getsol dot com promo code birds for
- 9:24Speaker 3: thirty percent off.
- 9:25Speaker 1: And that could be an avenue that, I should say,
- 9:30Speaker 1: an aspect that maybe precludes them from looking to add
- 9:34Speaker 1: an edge rusher in the trade market, because now you're
- 9:37Speaker 1: getting two in Brandon Graham and Nolan Smith. And Nolan Smith,
- 9:40Speaker 1: let's not forget was originally expected to headline that group,
- 9:46Speaker 1: and the group hadn't done a whole lot in terms
- 9:49Speaker 1: of production on the stat sheet. Nolan Smith is incredibly
- 9:52Speaker 1: physical and good against the run and setting the edge,
- 9:55Speaker 1: but he didn't necessarily get to the quarterback Jaywalks Hunt,
- 9:58Speaker 1: his counterpart, did for the first time Sunday afternoon against
- 10:01Speaker 1: the Giants and what was by far his best game
- 10:04Speaker 1: of the season. But I think for Nolan Smith, you
- 10:07Speaker 1: want to see him get back into the flow of things.
- 10:10Speaker 1: I'm not necessarily sure about how inclined the Eagles are
- 10:14Speaker 1: going to be to give him a large workload, but
- 10:17Speaker 1: at least in the first couple of weeks back but
- 10:20Speaker 1: in all honesty, that might not be a bad thing.
- 10:23Speaker 2: The way that Nolan Smith.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Plays the game, it's incredibly physical. He throws his body
- 10:27Speaker 1: around despite being about two hundred and forty five pounds.
- 10:31Speaker 1: That's what makes them great, I should say, that's what
- 10:33Speaker 1: makes him a good player, but it's not necessarily something
- 10:38Speaker 1: that I guess lends itself to being available for the
- 10:43Speaker 1: full compliment.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Of games year in and year out.
- 10:46Speaker 1: But that's going to be a big addition for the
- 10:48Speaker 1: Eagles because he's their best pass rusher. You've seen him
- 10:51Speaker 1: do it before at a very remarkable clip, but it
- 10:54Speaker 1: wasn't until November of last season where no one started
- 10:57Speaker 1: to really catch fire and then he won on that
- 10:59Speaker 1: tear of course through the postseason. And I think that
- 11:03Speaker 1: he brings a lot of energy, he brings camaraderie, and
- 11:07Speaker 1: when he's on the field, he brings the chaos. He
- 11:10Speaker 1: throws his body around, and you compliment that with the
- 11:13Speaker 1: players that I mentioned earlier, and that's going to be
- 11:16Speaker 1: something that I think will be certainly a welcome edition
- 11:19Speaker 1: for vic Vangio, but also allow other players to maybe
- 11:23Speaker 1: slot into roles in which they're more ideally suited and
- 11:28Speaker 1: Nolan Smith and jaalox Hunt. That was the Tanemoth Eagles
- 11:32Speaker 1: went into the season with and envisioned jalox Hunt's been
- 11:35Speaker 1: sort of the last man standing for lack of a
- 11:37Speaker 1: better phrasing there, and to get Nolan Smith back would
- 11:40Speaker 1: be huge. Again, his window hasn't been opened yet, but
- 11:44Speaker 1: I would imagine that that's going to be to follow
- 11:47Speaker 1: because it seems like he's trending in a positive direction.
- 11:49Speaker 2: So there are reinforcements on the way for.
- 11:51Speaker 1: The Philadelphia Eagles, and I'm curious which are you most
- 11:56Speaker 1: intrigued by and what are your expectations. You can always
- 12:00Speaker 1: email at Andrew to Checko five, A to Checko five
