- 0:00Do you want O five? It is the Erica Show. I have Fortune
- 0:02Feamster who. Actually I don't know if you remember this, but you were
- 0:05the one that said, hey, there's an internship at do you want a
- 0:07five? Y'all should try it? Because you were an intern here and you
- 0:10got me started in radio. So I'm very thankful to you for that.
- 0:13Absolutely. Yeah, I remember you coming up to me saying like, hey,
- 0:18like, I know you were interning. Do you think maybe want another
- 0:21intern? I was like, I can certainly find out, And I mean,
- 0:25I love that it has turned into such a career for you. Yeah,
- 0:31it pays the bills. But you are coming to DPAK two shows on
- 0:35Saturday. You got a seven o'clock and a nine thirty show. Everybody that
- 0:38goes to Piece or now William Piece, they're like, hey, do you
- 0:41have tickets? We want to go? Are you going? Everybody wants to
- 0:43see Fortune live live and love to them that's right. Yeah. The first
- 0:47show is sold out. The second show we have tickets left. I'm hoping
- 0:51to see familiar faces, new faces. This is my first time doing DPAK.
- 0:57It's such an iconic theater, so I'm excited. I can't believe I'm
- 1:00getting to do two of them. Now, do you ever do because you
- 1:03know this is home for you. I know you're from Charlotte originally, but
- 1:06still when you come to the Raleigh Durham area, do you do me and
- 1:07greets or is it kind of like you don't have time because you got to
- 1:11go on to the next thing. Yeah, I think that we have a
- 1:14meet and greet between shows. Okay, it's just hard to It's just hard
- 1:19to catching up because you know, we went to Peace so it was small
- 1:23and everybody knew each other. So I obviously have a lot of friends from
- 1:29college and I want to see everybody, but there's not enough time in the
- 1:33day. So I'm gonna be driving from Wilmington to bat two shows there the
- 1:38night before, and a bunch of friends were like, let's hang out.
- 1:42I'm like, well, I've got to drive from Wilmington and then I have
- 1:45two more shows and I need to be able to function. Uh So it
- 1:49just, yeah, it doesn't make the hangout tom as easy. Does Jack's
- 1:53travel with you or she stays in la She travels with me like one once
- 1:59here there, Like she came with me to Chicago and she's come to like
- 2:05some of these bigger markets. But she got so burnt out on the last
- 2:08four because I have I'm doing a hundred cities on this tour. My last
- 2:14tour was also one hundred cities. And then we also went to Toronto to
- 2:17film Food Bar for five months. So she was like, I need a
- 2:21break, and I totally understand. So so yeah, she comes from and
- 2:25stays home and takes care of everything here the other times. Now, how
- 2:30do you do it? Because I know, when it's your passion, obviously
- 2:31you make it work. But you were filming Food Bar except for another season.
- 2:36You've got good fortune on Netflix. I mean, you got the tour.
- 2:38How do you keep yourself sane when you got so much going on?
- 2:42Oh? Okay, who knows, but I'm trying. I mean there are
- 2:49definitely days where I just jags will catch me staring in the space. Okay,
- 2:54I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah, it is definitely a lot.
- 3:00I mean, but you're you know, if you remember at the Peace
- 3:04days, I love doing a lot of things and juggling a lot of things.
- 3:07I'm always happiest when I'm busy, right, And that has only gotten
- 3:13you know, times five, as I've gotten older. I definitely, you
- 3:17know, we'll be happy that this tour is coming to an end. It's
- 3:21been such an amazing tour, one of my favorite hours. But I will
- 3:24definitely need to come off the road. But you know, essentially, I
- 3:29have nine days after I fill my special where I'm off, and then I
- 3:32go back to Toronto again the film flood Bars with Arnold Schwarzenegger. So it's
- 3:38not it's not a big break, but I'm doing what I love at least
- 3:42even though even though I'm tired, I'm happy. And you're friends with Arnold
- 3:46like you've met a donkey or all of us animals, like y'all hang out.
- 3:50Yeah, I mean he's a busy guy, Recelyve former governor and as
- 3:53busy as ever. I've not met anyone that moves around and does anything and
- 4:00as he does. But yeah, he'll have our cast over to his house.
- 4:03He has shary events he invites us to. He's you know, the
- 4:09people that work for him and worked for him forever, and they're all just
- 4:13really lovely to us. And he's awesome. So I'm excited to get back
- 4:18to work with him. I want to. Now I know him even better,
- 4:21so it'll be cool to like try to go work out with him some
- 4:26and there, and you know, if he walks to a gym and guys
- 4:30like lose their minds, they just can't even believe it. He's He's like,
- 4:34you know, their their guy, right, I love that. And
- 4:38you're gonna have more weight this time, right? Is that the deal?
- 4:42That's right? Yeah? Because last time I worked out with him, he
- 4:45kept he would do the big the big weight, which I can't do that,
- 4:50but he would he would take the pen out and put it down like
- 4:54Bob. I'm like, I do alone. So yeah, I think he
- 4:59was trying. He's trying to be nice, but I'm ready for more weight.
- 5:02It's Fortune Thiaster. I still call you Emily Fiemestra in my habit Fortune
- 5:06Feasters gonna be a dpak. Do people do that a lot to you?
- 5:10Or you're like, I don't know what you're talking about, Unfortune? Oh
- 5:13no, I mean anybody that I grew up with obviously knows me by that.
- 5:15It's just a uh it's Tom. Tom is crazy because now so many
- 5:19people know me it's Fortune. I always thought that, you know, it
- 5:23would be just kind of a stage name and it just doesn't work like that.
- 5:28But honestly, for I don't mind people call me only that's you know,
- 5:31my part of my name as well, and it's an awful family name.
- 5:35I just I definitely feel such a connection to the name of Fortune,
- 5:40just because it was my grandmother's maiden name, right, and she really wanted
- 5:45me to have that name. So it holds a lot of meaning for me
- 5:47and your mom. How often, because I died life and you had a
- 5:50picture of your mom holding up everybody called her a slow walker? Does she
- 5:54get Does she get to travel with you a lot? Because she's a hood
- 5:58I love y'all together. She listen. She would love for me to take
- 6:01her on tour and take care of her and pay for everything. I would
- 6:06be worn out by the end of that tour if I had to also look
- 6:10out for her. But the nice thing is when I come to the North
- 6:15Carolina area or you know, South Carolina, Georgia, she is within driving
- 6:20range for her, So she'll be at the Durham Show and I already know
- 6:26she's gonna be. You know, she didn't like to go through the back.
- 6:29She wants to go through the theater and meet everybody and talk to everybody
- 6:32and take pastures. She loves, she loves the love, so she will
- 6:38be in Durham both shows getting the Love. Okay, well then I'm getting
- 6:42a picture with her and all the other piece girls that are coming. We're
- 6:44gonna have to get a picture with your mom. And I recently saw that
- 6:46you do a vision board every year. I do. Yeah, okay,
- 6:49so what's on the vision board this year? You know? Jackson and I
- 6:53were just saying, we were talking to her mom that we needed to look
- 6:56at our vision board to see a what's come true and be what what's less?
- 7:00But the division board would be I want to I really want to make
- 7:04my own movie, I wrote. I've written some movies that you know,
- 7:10it's very hard to get a movie made, especially these days, and I
- 7:15would just love that experience of, you know, creating something from the ground
- 7:19up and seeing it all the way through it and starting in a movie.
- 7:24That would be cool. But yeah, I have big I have big goals,
- 7:27you know, hopefully. I mean I'd love to be known enough one
- 7:32day to hosts and l something like that, you know, But right now,
- 7:36so many dreams are coming true. I'm this tours been unbelievable. I
- 7:41sold out the Chicago Theater three months in advance, with almost a four thousand
- 7:46seat theater. I'm starting in a Netflix show with Arnold Warson. There that
- 7:51the world. So I'm doing all right. The division board has has been
- 7:57working okay. So for anybody listen, because you know, like I make
- 8:01vision boards. A lot of people do that, but sometimes they get defeated
- 8:03if it doesn't come true. Any advice for them on that, I mean,
- 8:07you know, you have to just keep at it. I've been in
- 8:09LA for twenty one years. I ride here with twenty five dollars in my
- 8:13pocket, you know, no backup plan. It was just like, I
- 8:18want to figure this out. And you know, I never let not having
- 8:22money or not knowing people keep me from accomplishing things. I think you just
- 8:26have to work hard. And if you have a goal, you know that
- 8:31gives you something to work towards. And if you just keep working hard,
- 8:35I think that's the ticket, right. It's not sitting around and waiting for
- 8:39something to happen. It's trying to make things. Half of yourself. Well,
- 8:43Hooters be a part of the show this weekend. Maybe it's not part
- 8:46of my act. But sometimes if I have time, I'll at the end
- 8:50slide in the Hooters story as a little cherry on top. So it'll just
- 8:54depend on the timing. But it's so fun when I can do it because
- 8:58the whole audience kills. I have never been to Hooters when I say it,
- 9:03Uh so that's the That's a pretty cool moment pretty much. Chili's and
- 9:07Hooters, both of those restaurants. Anytime I see it, I'm like,
- 9:11that's Fortune's restaurants, both of them. Are you still doing Chili's? I
- 9:16mean occasionally, like you know, they'll reach out and whatnot, but everyone
- 9:22loves them and so they're good. They don't need me, but it's it's
- 9:26nice to go there and enjoy it some time the time. Fortune Feast are
- 9:31at Deepak the Live Life and Love Tour, which I love the name.
- 9:35What inspired the name? Just those sons, you know that our moms have
- 9:39everywhere that they're like, this is my art, and you're like, mom,
- 9:43that's not art. It's a word and a frame. But yeah,
- 9:48but then you know, I ended up having one of those and Jackson's like
- 9:52what is this And I go, oh my god, I'm sure there's my
- 9:54mother so just that, you know, not a lot of sets about my
- 10:01mom and Jack, and so it just felt like it fit. But also
- 10:05I love to send to it, even though that sign we always made fun
- 10:07of. I mean, I'm like, I don't want to live and laugh
- 10:09and love exactly. The hope is that people come to the show and they
- 10:15feel good, they laugh a lot, and they leave feeling a lot better
- 10:18than when they got there. Joy is what we're we're trying to bring to
- 10:24the table. And uh and the energy in that room, you'll feel it.
- 10:26It's it's so good and so positive. And that's what you know,
- 10:31makes me proud about the career I've crafted for myself and the people that come
- 10:37and support me. It's just a lot of love and a lot of joy.
- 10:39Well, we love you, very excited to see you. Great to
- 10:43talk to you, you know, and thanks for America. Y'all. Go
- 10:46see our girl Fortune Fiinster at DPAK. Two shows seven o'clock sold out,
- 10:50but there's still a nine thirty show. That's the show. I'm going to
- 10:52get those tickets now dpakanc dot com.
