2:25
Speaker 4: It's Brian Hughes.
2:26
Speaker 5: How you doing man, I'm doing great this morning.
2:28
Speaker 4: Little cold out there, little you think you do something
2:30
Speaker 4: about that?
2:31
Speaker 5: You know you would think.
2:32
Speaker 4: First of all, I want to say, if you were
2:33
Speaker 4: tuning into your Attorney General J. B. McCuskey, we apologize.
2:37
Speaker 4: The Ag was trying to squeeze in a call or
2:39
Speaker 4: visit with me this morning. Unfortunately his flight to somewhere
2:42
Speaker 4: got delayed and sent me attached a couple hours ago.
2:45
Speaker 4: Said he's setting on a tarmac somewhere right now, so
2:48
Speaker 4: we'll get the rescheduled for a later time. In the meantime,
2:51
Speaker 4: the part of Attorney General JB. McCuskey will be played
2:53
Speaker 4: by meteorologist Brian Hughes.
2:55
Speaker 5: Listen, I've become an expert in law of late.
2:58
Speaker 4: Okay, there you go, there you go. So what was
3:00
Speaker 4: going on up in the sky that I missed last night.
3:03
Speaker 5: Well, it actually happened the CME, the coronal mass ejection,
3:07
Speaker 5: That's exactly what I thought it was.
3:09
Speaker 6: Yes, that.
3:12
Speaker 2: Actually hit Earth about six hours earlier than was initially forecasts,
3:17
Speaker 2: which we knew that was a possibility. So you could
3:20
Speaker 2: only truely see the northern lights like right at sunset. Now,
3:25
Speaker 2: if it had happened six hours later, you would have
3:27
Speaker 2: seen a glow in the night sky like we haven't seen.
3:31
Speaker 6: Listen.
3:31
Speaker 2: This was actually going to be better than the last
3:33
Speaker 2: one that we had back that was back in the summer,
3:37
Speaker 2: I think. So that happened last night yesterday evening last night,
3:42
Speaker 2: and then slowly faded away. But you know, that was
3:46
Speaker 2: the first thing of many things to come.
3:48
Speaker 4: All right, all right, So we started off, as you
3:50
Speaker 4: alluded to, with a lot of cold. It's still pretty
3:54
Speaker 4: cold out there.
3:55
Speaker 5: Yeah, Listen.
3:55
Speaker 2: We've had temperatures in the single digits. We had wind
3:58
Speaker 2: hills that were down below zo Row this morning, and
4:01
Speaker 2: we're not gonna warm up above freezing. We're gonna go
4:03
Speaker 2: for temperatures the EF for twenty today, but we've got
4:05
Speaker 2: mostly sunny sky, so it's a deceptive cold. You look outside,
4:09
Speaker 2: you go, it can't be bad out there, and you
4:10
Speaker 2: step outside and you go, it's a bad out.
4:12
Speaker 5: It's bad out there. So maybe you can.
4:15
Speaker 4: Help me understand something here. And in the words of
4:17
Speaker 4: my brother what he was from the beat, make it
4:19
Speaker 4: make sense. Okay.
4:21
Speaker 5: I know that school systems, you.
4:23
Speaker 4: Know, Brian, want to do the right thing in cold
4:25
Speaker 4: weather mornings. I get that. But some in the area,
4:27
Speaker 4: some in our listening area, opted to go with a
4:31
Speaker 4: two hour delay this morning, not because it's snow, we
4:33
Speaker 4: don't have anything like that, but simply based on low temperatures,
4:36
Speaker 4: And like, I get that, but in most cases, does
4:40
Speaker 4: two hours really make that big of a difference. I mean,
4:42
Speaker 4: when a lot of kids went to the bus stop
4:46
Speaker 4: on whom my kid and kids don't ride the bus anymore,
4:48
Speaker 4: we at least they don't where I live in Putnam County,
4:51
Speaker 4: they seven o'clock or so.
4:53
Speaker 5: This morning.
4:54
Speaker 4: When I got into the building, it was like twelve
4:56
Speaker 4: degrees okay, So right now, it is.
5:00
Speaker 5: Fourteen degrees right exactly.
5:02
Speaker 4: So now from a two hour delay standpoint, and again
5:05
Speaker 4: I know not all areas you know had them, and
5:07
Speaker 4: I get that nod ever, but someone are listening there
5:09
Speaker 4: you did, so right now it's nine to twelve, which
5:12
Speaker 4: is the same as being seven twelve.
5:14
Speaker 1: Okay.
5:14
Speaker 4: For those county school systems that did go on a
5:16
Speaker 4: two hour delay, it warmed up a grand total of
5:19
Speaker 4: two degrees.
5:20
Speaker 5: It doesn't make any difference on.
5:22
Speaker 2: Cold weather mornings if you're delaying two hours because of
5:25
Speaker 2: the cold, it makes zero sense. In the old days,
5:28
Speaker 2: it was the excuse was we got to get all
5:31
Speaker 2: the buses warmed up, and we want to make sure
5:33
Speaker 2: they're warm so that way when the kids get on
5:35
Speaker 2: they're not freezing to death. That's not the case anymore.
5:38
Speaker 2: I mean, listen, the heaters are working in a heartbeat.
5:41
Speaker 2: It's not a big deal. But there is no difference
5:44
Speaker 2: because once you once we get past around eight thirty
5:48
Speaker 2: in the morning, then the temperatures start to come up.
5:51
Speaker 2: But the only thing that you have that's benefiting you
5:54
Speaker 2: is the sunshine, and that's if it's sunny. So you know,
5:57
Speaker 2: if you had clouds and it's still a cold weather
5:59
Speaker 2: day that you're delaying more.
6:01
Speaker 5: It makes zeerra sense.
6:02
Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean yeah, and again not there were just
6:05
Speaker 4: a few, you know, but I saw going across the
6:07
Speaker 4: screen this morning that did op for a two or
6:08
Speaker 4: three hour delay. And I've never quite now if the
6:11
Speaker 4: roads are icy whatever, I understand, but I mean there
6:13
Speaker 4: could be there's done maybe some icy spots out there
6:15
Speaker 4: this morning, because that's gonna happen, but nothing there the snow,
6:18
Speaker 4: and we're going to talk about that because that's what
6:20
Speaker 4: everybody wants to talk about coming up a little bit
6:22
Speaker 4: later on.
6:22
Speaker 5: I just I guess when I saw that.
6:24
Speaker 4: There that some areas were delaying school because of cold
6:28
Speaker 4: and it warmed up a grand total of two degrees,
6:31
Speaker 4: you know, I just I just didn't quite understand. All right,
6:34
Speaker 4: So everybody's talking about this weekend, and particularly I guess
6:39
Speaker 4: Saturday it's gonna be Snowmageddon or not. And I know
6:46
Speaker 4: it's well in advanced and you know, you can't put
6:49
Speaker 4: a number on it at this point. Some people do
6:51
Speaker 4: and it'll be changed, but overall, and again we're days away.
6:55
Speaker 4: What are we looking at this week?
6:56
Speaker 2: Uh, let me start by saying this there will be
6:59
Speaker 2: a sharp off north of US. So you listen the
7:05
Speaker 2: range right now. So let me explain all the forecast models.
7:08
Speaker 2: The American forecast model is sometimes a joke. It's just
7:12
Speaker 2: called the GFS. It's a global forecasting system, but it's
7:15
Speaker 2: American model. It has a bias on southern streamstorm systems
7:20
Speaker 2: in the winter, and that bias is it sends them
7:23
Speaker 2: way too far south. Now, we know that over time
7:27
Speaker 2: that it will correct to the north, but you have
7:30
Speaker 2: to know about what time you about when you stop
7:33
Speaker 2: looking at it correcting to the north, because it also overcorrects.
7:37
Speaker 4: So when you've done it, as long as you and
7:39
Speaker 4: others have right, you kind of get that, Okay, it's
7:41
Speaker 4: not you know, it's not accurate at this point. It
7:44
Speaker 4: will be accurate in forty eight hours or whatever the case.
7:46
Speaker 6: Make right.
7:47
Speaker 2: It's caught it and it's it gives a general idea
7:50
Speaker 2: of what's going to happen. But the detail you if
7:52
Speaker 2: you looked at the details yesterday and you looked at
7:55
Speaker 2: them right now, they're wildly different. But what we have
7:59
Speaker 2: seen in the last twenty four hours is now forecast
8:02
Speaker 2: models starting to move everything to the north, which for
8:05
Speaker 2: US means we get better snow chances. But boy, let
8:08
Speaker 2: me tell you something. Where that freezing rain snow line
8:12
Speaker 2: is going to be where the Arctic boundary is going
8:14
Speaker 2: to set up, which could be in far southern West Virginia,
8:17
Speaker 2: it could be down in Virginia, most likely in Virginia.
8:19
Speaker 2: There's going to be catastrophic, you know, a situation that's
8:23
Speaker 2: going to be developing because of significant.
8:26
Speaker 4: Ice ice ice, more southern snow down.
8:28
Speaker 5: There, right and most and right now.
8:31
Speaker 2: You know that could even be further south into parts
8:33
Speaker 2: of North Carolina, southern Tennessee, northern Georgia, northern Alabama.
8:37
Speaker 5: But let me tell you something.
8:38
Speaker 2: It is going to be a catastrophic ice storm where
8:41
Speaker 2: it sets.
8:42
Speaker 7: Up where it sets up, which is not us, not us,
8:44
Speaker 7: And that's that's a good part. Could we see a
8:46
Speaker 7: little sleet or maybe if here's a rain slip into
8:48
Speaker 7: maybe McDowell, McDowell County and stuff down there, maybe, But
8:53
Speaker 7: for us, we're going to be on the snow side
8:55
Speaker 7: of it, and we could have we could see in
8:57
Speaker 7: southern West Virginia and the mountains of West Virginia significant snow.
9:01
Speaker 7: But as far as the kanav Valley is concerned. Right now,
9:04
Speaker 7: the average the national blend of models. It's called the MBM.
9:08
Speaker 2: So that's where the National Weather Service has a forecast
9:11
Speaker 2: model where it takes all the models and averages them
9:14
Speaker 2: together and gives and is understands the forecast model bias
9:20
Speaker 2: it has. Right now, it's getting about six inches of
9:22
Speaker 2: snow Saturday into Sunday, and Saturday night is when it
9:26
Speaker 2: will be going gang Bucks gangbusters. But as this continues
9:31
Speaker 2: to trend further north, our snow totals could increase. Forecast
9:35
Speaker 2: models yesterday we're looking at anywhere from six all the
9:39
Speaker 2: way up to I'm not even getting eighteen inches of
9:42
Speaker 2: snow for the Charleston area. Now that's a wide range.
9:47
Speaker 2: We know that the higher end is not where we look.
9:49
Speaker 2: We look at what is the middle to lower end
9:52
Speaker 2: of that to start, And right now the American model
9:57
Speaker 2: is starting slowly to come in line with the European model,
10:00
Speaker 2: which is a superior model as far as snow is concerned.
10:03
Speaker 2: And when you look at the Canadian model as well
10:06
Speaker 2: as many other forecast models that look at the long
10:09
Speaker 2: range of what we call the ensembles, they actually have
10:12
Speaker 2: a whole different bunch of versions of the forecast model
10:15
Speaker 2: that all mix together and they're called the ensembles. So
10:18
Speaker 2: there's the European model actually has about twenty so mid
10:22
Speaker 2: different runs that it does simultaneously, and then it blends
10:26
Speaker 2: all those together and gives us a general idea of
10:29
Speaker 2: what's happening. And it looks like, listen, we got snow
10:31
Speaker 2: coming and it's going to be significant. But the critical
10:35
Speaker 2: part about this is not just the snow that we
10:37
Speaker 2: get Saturday Sunday, but it's a fact that all next
10:40
Speaker 2: week we barely have an opportunity to get above freezing.
10:45
Speaker 2: And then there's a couple of waves of snow that
10:47
Speaker 2: will be possible maybe Tuesday and then maybe late next
10:51
Speaker 2: week again. So what we're doing is laguering up, and
10:55
Speaker 2: then it takes us all the way to the end
10:57
Speaker 2: of January, which could be you know, quite the cold
11:00
Speaker 2: time period where we have temperatures that barely get above
11:03
Speaker 2: freezing and we're gona have a lot of low twenties
11:05
Speaker 2: for highs.
11:06
Speaker 5: Nine to eighteen. We're talking to b d.
11:08
Speaker 4: Roaldis's Brian Hughes the Dave Alan Show on five eighty
11:10
Speaker 4: line brought to you a part by Morgan Morgan If
11:11
Speaker 4: you're injured higher Morgan to Morgan, America's largest injury law firm.
11:14
Speaker 4: All right, now, it's Tuesday now, and you said this
11:16
Speaker 4: time twenty four hours ago it was vastly different from
11:19
Speaker 4: what we're going to be looking at. Could be vastly
11:22
Speaker 4: different tomorrow. Right by what Thursday, That's when we'll start
11:27
Speaker 4: getting a better feel of Okay, this is going to happen,
11:31
Speaker 4: and this is how much is it?
11:32
Speaker 5: Generally forty eight hours out.
11:33
Speaker 2: Forty eight hours is when you can say this is
11:35
Speaker 2: about what we're gonna have. Yeah, And then and then
11:38
Speaker 2: as you get closer to then you look at the
11:40
Speaker 2: fine tune details, that's when people get upset. Well, they
11:42
Speaker 2: get all listen. I said on Facebook number of times yesterday. Listen, folks,
11:48
Speaker 2: this is not the forecast and it will change, but
11:50
Speaker 2: please understand this is a mass Listen.
11:52
Speaker 6: This is this goes.
11:53
Speaker 2: My dad is going to have on Saturday in Loveock, Texas,
11:57
Speaker 2: a high twenty two degrees that's gonna beat the record
12:01
Speaker 2: of twenty nine degrees by seven degrees.
12:04
Speaker 6: That they're going to beat the record.
12:05
Speaker 2: And what we have, you know, the forecast model data
12:09
Speaker 2: is showing that we have from literally west Texas all
12:12
Speaker 2: the way back up here into the Northeast, across the
12:14
Speaker 2: mid Atlantic here area, and then back up into the Northeast.
12:18
Speaker 2: Record cold records upon records will be falling for cold temperatures.
12:24
Speaker 2: And that doesn't even account for you know, that doesn't
12:27
Speaker 2: count for the fact that there's also going to be
12:28
Speaker 2: snow from West Texas all the way back up here
12:31
Speaker 2: into into the Northeast. So it's a multi pronged system
12:35
Speaker 2: with record cold, wind, ice and heavy heavy.
12:39
Speaker 5: And again we're not talking.
12:41
Speaker 4: Everybody calmed down, We're not We're not talking about Cystonville
12:43
Speaker 4: right now.
12:44
Speaker 6: Right, so we're talking.
12:45
Speaker 4: We're talking about all right, because that's what that's what
12:48
Speaker 4: you know, you guys I think run into sometimes because
12:50
Speaker 4: I follow you know, you and others on social media, well,
12:53
Speaker 4: you know, and it's got to drive you crazy, you
12:55
Speaker 4: know of otherwise nice people saying well what about that?
12:59
Speaker 5: What about what about this? Holler? What about this? And
13:01
Speaker 5: what about that?
13:02
Speaker 4: And we saw last week with the system that we
13:04
Speaker 4: had here early last week, basically nothing in Charleston, ten
13:08
Speaker 4: miles up the road. It was that we're shutting down
13:11
Speaker 4: the interstate, right you.
13:12
Speaker 2: Know, listen, Brent Webster, who takes care of all the
13:16
Speaker 2: city streets.
13:16
Speaker 5: He's in charge of it all.
13:18
Speaker 2: I text him and the mayor and I said, hey,
13:20
Speaker 2: this snow squall is produced, has produced two to five
13:24
Speaker 2: inches of snow in one hour. I said, you got
13:27
Speaker 2: to be you know, on the lookout, heads up. Now
13:30
Speaker 2: it got here and guess what gone. I mean, we
13:33
Speaker 2: just barely had a dusting. But you know, it's one
13:35
Speaker 2: of those things you've always got to be prepared for
13:38
Speaker 2: the next thing. And it could be the minutest detail
13:41
Speaker 2: that could change the snow. Listen, you could get a
13:44
Speaker 2: river effects snow that is going to lay down three
13:47
Speaker 2: to four inches of snow in the upper parts of
13:49
Speaker 2: the Canal Valley and you're gonna have nothing everywhere else, right.
13:52
Speaker 4: I mean, this is this is what makes I think
13:54
Speaker 4: weather forecasting kind of interesting for what you folks do
13:58
Speaker 4: in this part of the world, because it it can
14:00
Speaker 4: be vastly different, even within a county, it can be
14:04
Speaker 4: vastly different. What you know, what as Systemville gets is
14:08
Speaker 4: not what Tornado gets, you know all the time, right,
14:11
Speaker 4: And that's that's what makes it, I think kind of interesting.
14:14
Speaker 2: And for those people who get so upset about well,
14:17
Speaker 2: I didn't get what you said we're gonna get. Yeah,
14:18
Speaker 2: I'm but guess what your neighbor about half a county
14:21
Speaker 2: over got exactly what we said. Ye, there are differences
14:24
Speaker 2: we can't. If we could forecast down to your city block,
14:28
Speaker 2: I would be I would not be sitting here today.
14:30
Speaker 2: I'd be making all kinds of money.
14:32
Speaker 4: Well, and these people that say, you know, you know,
14:34
Speaker 4: you've heard all the jokes, you know, weather forecasters the
14:36
Speaker 4: only job where you can get paid for being right
14:38
Speaker 4: fifty percent of the time. That is so far from
14:40
Speaker 4: the truth.
14:41
Speaker 5: Our numbers now are over ninety percent. Well, accuracy's well.
14:45
Speaker 4: Over, yes, well over ninety percent.
14:47
Speaker 2: And just so you know, back about twenty years ago,
14:51
Speaker 2: I was actually I had my five day forecast and
14:54
Speaker 2: I was looking at eighty three percent accuracy.
14:57
Speaker 5: And that was about twenty years ago. Now we're up
15:00
Speaker 5: plus all right.
15:01
Speaker 4: Well again, so how much snow we getting when we
15:03
Speaker 4: get Sorry, I'm sorry, I just had to throw it
15:05
Speaker 4: right here.
15:05
Speaker 2: So I'll say, right now, right now, if we were
15:08
Speaker 2: looking at everything right now, we're going to get about
15:10
Speaker 2: six inches of snow Saturday into Sunday. But there will
15:14
Speaker 2: be changes and it could go down.
15:16
Speaker 6: It could go up.
15:17
Speaker 5: If it does go up, it could go up by
15:18
Speaker 5: a chunk.
15:19
Speaker 4: Okay, And and it all depends on the timing too
15:22
Speaker 4: as well, because we at this point it's way too
15:24
Speaker 4: early to say, Okay, it's going to hit at two
15:26
Speaker 4: o'clock Saturday afternoon. It could be a little bit before then,
15:28
Speaker 4: it could be a little bit after that. And I
15:30
Speaker 4: say that because I know a lot of people have
15:32
Speaker 4: got their eyes on the Hunting and Fishing Show this.
15:34
Speaker 2: Weekend, right exactly, and listen, Friday, go to the Hunting
15:37
Speaker 2: Fishers Saturday, you can go, but know that maybe Sunday
15:40
Speaker 2: is probably probably not going to be the best day.
15:42
Speaker 2: But I can tell you this, the temperature profile for
15:46
Speaker 2: the entire region here, most of West Virginia is snow
15:50
Speaker 2: from the bottom of the atmosphere to the top of
15:52
Speaker 2: the atmosphere. And it's going to be so cold, and
15:54
Speaker 2: we're gonna have snow ratios that are going to be
15:55
Speaker 2: incredibly high. It's going to be a very fluffy, fine
15:59
Speaker 2: snow that's going to be around, and it's gonna be fun.
16:01
Speaker 5: It's gonna be the one stuff.
16:03
Speaker 2: Listen, thirty years ago, this earlier this month, we had
16:08
Speaker 2: a huge snowstorm. And this September there are gonna be
16:12
Speaker 2: all kinds of people that are turning thirty years old.
16:15
Speaker 5: And I can tell you this Southern.
16:17
Speaker 2: West Virginia, Virginia in thirty years in October, there will
16:21
Speaker 2: be a whole bunch of kids at the Heaven Birthdays.
16:25
Speaker 4: Well, they said we need to get more people in
16:27
Speaker 4: West Virginia. Apparently you just need a few snowstorms to
16:29
Speaker 4: make it happen.
16:29
Speaker 2: That's what we That's why the population has decline, not
16:32
Speaker 2: enough snowstorms.

19:32
Speaker 5: single Hoosier fan I know at some point, either late
19:35
Speaker 5: last night or there were a few who waited to
19:38
Speaker 5: get me this morning, knowing that my rooster crows at
19:40
Speaker 5: oh four hundred. But everybody from first wife to Nie
19:45
Speaker 5: to my IP attorney, all the IU people hollering at
19:48
Speaker 5: me today.
19:49
Speaker 4: So as somebody who is a native Hoosier, Yeah, we
19:52
Speaker 4: learned that on the show yesterday. From Indiana is Indiana football.
19:56
Speaker 4: Because you have other universities, I mean in West Virginia.
19:58
Speaker 4: You know, we have WVU, we have Marshall, and we
20:00
Speaker 4: have some great MEC schools. But most people, and I'm
20:04
Speaker 4: speaking as a son of Marshall, would say that overall
20:06
Speaker 4: West Virginia has the biggest overall fan base in West Virginia.
20:10
Speaker 4: I would, I would, I would concede that is Indiana
20:15
Speaker 4: as far as sports go, like the official university as
20:20
Speaker 4: far as sports go in the state of Indiana, because
20:21
Speaker 4: you do have others. A ball state, you got, I
20:23
Speaker 4: mean it is today, if it's football, it's Notre Dame. Okay,
20:26
Speaker 4: I mean, if if there is that that place I
20:28
Speaker 4: forgot about. Note frankly, if and you know, full disclosure,
20:32
Speaker 4: my master's degree is from Notre Dame. If if they
20:35
Speaker 4: put a bowl game on Mars and they they invited,
20:40
Speaker 4: like Michigan and Notre Dame, it would sell out in
20:43
Speaker 4: fifteen minutes. Okay, That's that's how big those sorts of
20:47
Speaker 4: schools are. IU is still, if not number one, a
20:52
Speaker 4: close number two to Butler in basketball. But this is
20:57
Speaker 4: this is remarkable for IU. Most of the time, IU is.
21:01
Speaker 5: Fourth in college football in Indiana, behind Notre Dame, Purdue,
21:06
Speaker 5: and Ball State. Okay, so there's a lot of celebrating
21:09
Speaker 5: going on. Yeah, this is extraordinary. Couches are burning all
21:11
Speaker 5: over Bloomington.
21:12
Speaker 2: You know.
21:12
Speaker 4: I read an interesting article over the weekend in the
21:14
Speaker 4: Wall Street Journal about John Mellencamp. Mellencamp is a big
21:18
Speaker 4: IU fan. Of course, he's from Bloomington and Seymour.
21:21
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, he told. That's right, You're right about that,
21:24
Speaker 5: he told.
21:25
Speaker 4: Actually, they told the story about, man, I'm a huge
21:27
Speaker 4: John Mellencamp fan, about when he was, like I guess,
21:31
Speaker 4: a young man his brother and attended Indiana University and
21:35
Speaker 4: they went to a lot of games. Well, now you know,
21:38
Speaker 4: Mellencamp's got more money than you know what.
21:40
Speaker 5: To do with.
21:41
Speaker 4: So they actually at the stadium, he has a wood
21:45
Speaker 4: shed built somewhere and he has that because he can
21:49
Speaker 4: go in and smoke, yes, because he's a five packa
21:51
Speaker 4: day smoker and has said he's never going to stop
21:54
Speaker 4: smoking whatever. And he goes into this shed at the stadium.
21:58
Speaker 4: What's the name of the stadium? Where are you play?
22:00
Speaker 5: Memorial State?
22:00
Speaker 4: Okay, didn't have a corporate name in Okay, you will,
22:03
Speaker 4: but but he goes. But actually he donated like over
22:05
Speaker 4: a million dollars for a practice facility there, and they
22:08
Speaker 4: were interviewing some of the players and they were saying,
22:11
Speaker 4: what do you think about John Mellencamp.
22:12
Speaker 5: They said, oh, the guy the practice facility is named after.
22:14
Speaker 4: They had no idea who John Mellencamp was, but I
22:17
Speaker 4: just thought that was kind of interesting.
22:18
Speaker 5: So he's a pretty happy guy. Maybe he smokes six
22:20
Speaker 5: packs y And one of one of John's bits, his
22:23
Speaker 5: incognito bit, is he pretends to be his cousin Roscoe,
22:26
Speaker 5: and so I don't ever go to the games. It's
22:29
Speaker 5: it's Roscoe who's always at the IU games. And it's funny.
22:31
Speaker 5: He looks and sounds exactly like John. But they do
22:36
Speaker 5: a good job of leaving John alone. Say what you
22:40
Speaker 5: want about. One of the things about who's your hospitality
22:44
Speaker 5: is if if you're famous, they kind of just give you.
22:47
Speaker 5: West Virginians are good at this too, Like when Jennifer
22:49
Speaker 5: Garner comes back to town. I'll see it. I'll see it.
22:52
Speaker 5: Ellen's all the time, and folks will just give it.
22:55
Speaker 5: Hey good to see it, and that's it. Folks are
22:58

23:28
Speaker 4: She's all into helping out those in need. Rob But
23:30
Speaker 4: she's been married to me for thirty three years, so
23:32
Speaker 4: we'll talk about giving to the needs. So she already
23:35
Speaker 4: is all about helping the needy. But she's also a
23:37
Speaker 4: competitive shopper, yes, and she took the holiday off yesterday
23:41
Speaker 4: to do some other things. And you just happened to
23:43
Speaker 4: be the beneficiary of some socks yesterday.
23:45
Speaker 5: I am glad to be the middleman in that transaction.
23:50
Speaker 5: I was looking over some recent numbers, and one in
23:53
Speaker 5: seven folks nationwide is dealing with poverty according to the
23:58
Speaker 5: Supplemental Poverty measurements. That's that's the bottom line, that's income,
24:02
Speaker 5: that's taxes, that's that's the cost of actually living. That
24:05
Speaker 5: number is significantly higher here in West Virginia, we're closer
24:09
Speaker 5: to one in three. That means, look to your left,
24:12
Speaker 5: look to your right. One of you is in a
24:16
Speaker 5: pretty bad financial situation. And so the most requested item
24:20
Speaker 5: shelters service providers is socks. It's it's a little thing
24:24
Speaker 5: we can do. It's one thing we can laser focus.
24:27
Speaker 5: On Thursday, from seven in the morning till six in
24:29
Speaker 5: the evening, you loop through our parking lot, You stay
24:31
Speaker 5: in your warm vehicle, You hand us those brand new
24:33
Speaker 5: socks or a check or cash donation for Union Mission,
24:36
Speaker 5: and you get to go on your way and you
24:38
Speaker 5: get the nice, warm feeling of helping our friends and neighbors.
24:41
Speaker 5: Union Mission is going to do all the work.
24:43
Speaker 4: We're talking to Rob Reel from a ninety six one
24:45
Speaker 4: kwus about our sock drop. It is happening this coming
24:48
Speaker 4: Thursday on our parking lots seven am till six pm.
24:50
Speaker 4: And again, there's so many places that you can pick
24:52
Speaker 4: up a few packs of socks, you know, your Allie's
24:55
Speaker 4: or your Big Lots, Dollar General or whatever the case
24:59
Speaker 4: may be. And they're not that expensive.
25:01
Speaker 5: I mean I've easily spotted twelve pair for ten bucks,
25:05
Speaker 5: so less than a dollar a pair. I have a
25:08
Speaker 5: sizeable stash already waiting at the real estate to be
25:10
Speaker 5: brought in on Thursday. Your lovely bride has contributed to
25:15
Speaker 5: that as well, so we'll get off to a good start.
25:18
Speaker 5: But I would like to see our third annual Drop
25:21
Speaker 5: your Socks be our biggest one yet.
25:23
Speaker 4: And last year, if I remember correctly, it was pretty cold.
25:26
Speaker 4: I think we had some snow on the ground. It
25:28
Speaker 4: is going to be a little little on the cool
25:30
Speaker 4: side on Thursday. But everybody's all jacked up about a
25:33
Speaker 4: snowstorm this weekend one way or the other. It's not
25:36
Speaker 4: happening Thursday. We do know that for a fact.
25:39
Speaker 5: Yes, I think this actually works out well for folks
25:41
Speaker 5: who want to participate, because you already know you need
25:44
Speaker 5: to go to the store. You need to make an
25:45
Speaker 5: extra run, get that French toast kit as I like
25:48
Speaker 5: to call it, the bread, the milk, the eggs. While
25:50
Speaker 5: you're there, whether it's the bougie this or the Gucci
25:53
Speaker 5: that go down, go down the aisle where you can
25:55
Speaker 5: pick up some socks. Add that to just leave them
25:58
Speaker 5: in the car, leave them in the bag in the car,
26:00
Speaker 5: and you can come see us on Thursday, hand them
26:02
Speaker 5: to us, be on your way, and then when you
26:04
Speaker 5: hunker down for the snowstorm, know that there are friends
26:08
Speaker 5: and neighbors in need who will be warm. And maybe
26:11
Speaker 5: I don't think I don't I don't think I'm overstating
26:13
Speaker 5: there are people who may survive a snowstorm like Brian
26:17
Speaker 5: was just talking about, because we were able to provide
26:20
Speaker 5: this sort of assistance.
26:21
Speaker 4: And again, one of the questions that we get is
26:23
Speaker 4: people will say why socks? And I mean why not
26:28
Speaker 4: jackets or gloves? And look, if you want to drop those,
26:31
Speaker 4: we'll take those two. But what we want what we
26:32
Speaker 4: want to focus on socks? Why is it socks? Two reasons.
26:35
Speaker 5: One so that we can give you a thing, a
26:37
Speaker 5: singular thing to focus on. We're all busy people. We
26:40
Speaker 5: have lots of mind traffic. I mean just when something
26:43
Speaker 5: is out of the ordinary, like dealing with school delays,
26:45
Speaker 5: think about how much that throws your day off. So
26:48
Speaker 5: I want to give you just one thing to focus
26:50
Speaker 5: on so that you don't have to, oh, well do
26:52
Speaker 5: I need to worry about?
26:54
Speaker 1: Uh?
26:55
Speaker 5: You know what can I bring the coats and hats?
26:56
Speaker 5: What do they need? We need socks. Everybody needs socks.
27:00
Speaker 5: And the other is that you don't have to worry
27:02
Speaker 5: about size, you don't have to worry about color. It's
27:05
Speaker 5: it's as simple as it can be for you to
27:07
Speaker 5: participate with socks.
27:10
Speaker 4: Indeed, it's a seven handle six PM on our parking,
27:12
Speaker 4: not eleven eleven for ginga tretas Charleston. And again, don't
27:15
Speaker 4: even have to get out of your car, because I
27:17
Speaker 4: know you guys are going to be out there bright
27:18
Speaker 4: and early in between doing your morning show. Yes, you're
27:21
Speaker 4: gonna get your laps in that day for sure, running
27:23
Speaker 4: up and down whatever.
27:24
Speaker 5: It won't be one hundred and seventy two miles to Morgantown,
27:26
Speaker 5: but it's gonna feel like it, with the back and
27:28
Speaker 5: forth to the to the Walker studio.
27:30
Speaker 4: For what idiot decided to walk to Morgantown.
27:33
Speaker 9: I don't know. He's a nice boy, but he's about
27:35
Speaker 9: as sharp as a bowling ball.
27:37
Speaker 1: Indeed.
27:37
Speaker 4: But we have all we have some help out there
27:40
Speaker 4: for you. Again, all of our stations are involving to
27:43
Speaker 4: see the folks from v. One hundred and chs. And
27:45
Speaker 4: we'll bring the sales weasels in and off of staff
27:48
Speaker 4: the beat.
27:49
Speaker 5: Well, well, well we'll all be out there. We'll all
27:52
Speaker 5: be out there. Yes, please make sure if if you
27:54
Speaker 5: made any sort of gentleman's wager with one Woody Woods,
27:57
Speaker 5: he would like his money please for last night game.
28:00
Speaker 5: He was on about that already. He's going to be
28:02
Speaker 5: insufferable today. I mean that in the best way, the
28:04
Speaker 5: best possible. With the way Indiana sports has gone with
28:07
Speaker 5: people getting hurt over the past year, it's about time
28:10
Speaker 5: Hoosiers had to win, and they got a big one
28:12
Speaker 5: last night. But even the folks from Union Mission, so
28:16
Speaker 5: Jason and Brian and Mighty Joe as I like to
28:19
Speaker 5: call him, are always out there with us. They're really
28:22
Speaker 5: doing the heavy lifting literally and figuratively, with gathering up
28:26
Speaker 5: the socks and sorting and taking them back and then
28:28
Speaker 5: doing the distributing. They're really doing all the work. We're
28:31
Speaker 5: just big mouthpieces in this.
28:32
Speaker 4: And our listeners, I say this all the time, rob
28:34
Speaker 4: Our listeners are the greatest listeners in the world. They
28:38
Speaker 4: come through, whether it's this, whether it's Turkey Drop, whether
28:42
Speaker 4: it's the snack Drop that we organized, whether it's your
28:45
Speaker 4: walk to Morgantown for WVU Children's I mean, our listeners
28:49
Speaker 4: always come through for us.
28:51
Speaker 5: It was almost exactly ten years ago when I left
28:55
Speaker 5: Charleston the first time and it made an impression on me.
28:59
Speaker 5: Then the West Virginians take care of West Virginians. So
29:02
Speaker 5: when I had the opportunity to come back three years ago,
29:05
Speaker 5: that was one of the reasons that topped my list
29:08
Speaker 5: that I wanted to be here because I know we
29:11
Speaker 5: will reach out and take care of our friends and neighbors.
29:15
Speaker 4: Indeed, indeed, and it's gonna be a busy week because
29:18
Speaker 4: we're over at the Hunting and Fishing Show, you know,
29:21
Speaker 4: this weekend. That's I'll have more of that coming up
29:23
Speaker 4: a little bit later on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at
29:25
Speaker 4: the Contal Seeming Conventions.
29:26
Speaker 5: And we've got a concert going on too, Jason Alden
29:29
Speaker 5: is on Saturday night. The Winter Jam is Friday night,
29:31
Speaker 5: so the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center is going to
29:35
Speaker 5: be packed the whole weekend. Of course, the Elvis of
29:37
Speaker 5: the Outdoors himself, Chris Lawrence. He's the big rock star
29:40
Speaker 5: this weekend.
29:41
Speaker 4: I they'll we're doing his West Virginia Outdoor Show live
29:43
Speaker 4: from there Saturday morning, as he traditionally does. Yep, I
29:46
Speaker 4: get to be a show runner. Yes, that's what my
29:49
Speaker 4: job is with Chris is hey, go go, go and
29:51
Speaker 4: get so and so. And you know, and I love
29:53
Speaker 4: Chris because and I'll say, well, who am I looking for?
29:55
Speaker 5: Oh he's the guy in the camo. Oh okay, I
29:57
Speaker 5: got it. He's a fella with the orange hat. Yeah,
30:00
Speaker 5: got it. So, yeah, you'll be the the van of
30:03
Speaker 5: White the Barker's Beauties that Carol Merrill. If one is
30:06
Speaker 5: of a certain age. So and I'll be hanging out too.
30:11
Speaker 5: But folks aren't coming to the Hunting and Fishing show
30:13
Speaker 5: to see me. They are coming to seecres Low. All right.
30:15
Speaker 4: We had a text here when somebody ask it or
30:17
Speaker 4: everybody need thought doing these type of drops for the winter,
30:19
Speaker 4: maybe over a couple of months in summer, a couple
30:22
Speaker 4: of weekends to have a greater supply. I mean, maybe
30:24
Speaker 4: get them ahead of time. I mean, the thing about it,
30:25
Speaker 4: and I appreciate the text, Rob, But to think about
30:27
Speaker 4: it is we do so much here. I don't want
30:30
Speaker 4: to really cross the sword, so to speak. Yes, because
30:32
Speaker 4: we you know, we have our times that we do
30:35
Speaker 4: certain things, and and we don't want to ask too
30:37
Speaker 4: much of our listeners either, because they are the greatest
30:39
Speaker 4: listeners in the world. They always come through for us.
30:41
Speaker 4: But it's a good it's a good idea in theory.
30:43
Speaker 4: But I mean during summer we're collecting at beginning of somewhere,
30:46
Speaker 4: collecting snacks. Ye, we are of course with you know,
30:49
Speaker 4: we have the backpack attack that we do on the
30:52
Speaker 4: beat and all these other things too, So.
30:54
Speaker 5: We have we have four days a year where we
30:57
Speaker 5: are laser focused on a particular thing. It's socks in January,
31:01
Speaker 5: it's snacks in June, it's backpacks at the beginning of
31:04
Speaker 5: school in August, and it's turkeys in November. And it's
31:08
Speaker 5: not that those things aren't needed year round, you're the
31:10
Speaker 5: texture is right, It's that we can hit the hardest
31:14
Speaker 5: at the time of greatest need for those particular things.
31:18
Speaker 5: So we that's what we focus on in those moments.
31:21
Speaker 5: And I wouldn't I wouldn't want to spend our time
31:25
Speaker 5: and effort in June also collecting socks, knowing that that
31:30
Speaker 5: could be at the expense of more snacks, if that
31:32
Speaker 5: makes sense.
31:33
Speaker 4: I understood and understood text said, what's behind door number three?
31:36
Speaker 4: This is a texture.
31:37
Speaker 5: Beoh, it is a real Monty Hall problem. So all right.
31:42
Speaker 5: Eleven eleven Virginia Strea Dacent, Charleston.

32:01
Speaker 4: There's a QR code on there so you can scan that.
32:04
Speaker 4: We'd love to see you in person again. Based on
32:06
Speaker 4: everything I'm seeing on social media about this snowstorm this weekend,
32:09
Speaker 4: this potential snowstorm, this may be the last time you
32:12
Speaker 4: ever see humans again. So I mean, based on some
32:15
Speaker 4: of the of the fear mong green I've seen on sory,
32:18
Speaker 4: this could be it.
32:19
Speaker 5: I laugh because I spent a couple of years in
32:23
Speaker 5: western Montana and a couple of years living in the
32:25
Speaker 5: Cascades in central Washington. It's adorable that folks think six
32:31
Speaker 5: or eight inches of snow is going to be a thing.
32:33
Speaker 4: All right, all right, but adorable. But be safe, yes,
32:36
Speaker 4: But by bottom line is no problems on Thursday when
32:39
Speaker 4: you come and join us other and it's going to
32:40
Speaker 4: be a little bit cold.
32:41
Speaker 5: That's it, all right, Rob, appreciate it.

36:14
Speaker 4: You're officially filing I mean the you know you now

Speaker 4: for state Senate, but Jo will officially follow. They'll have
36:22
Speaker 4: more than that coming up a little bit later on.
36:23
Speaker 5: But I want to talk.
36:24
Speaker 4: About your current roles current as a county commissioner. I
36:27
Speaker 4: want to talk about getting water to the people.
36:29
Speaker 9: Now.
36:30
Speaker 4: You have more than one project up and running now.
36:33
Speaker 6: Right, oh, absolutely.
36:34
Speaker 12: You know. This is something that when I came in
36:36
Speaker 12: in twenty twenty one as county commissioner five years ago,
36:38
Speaker 12: I took a roll in because I noticed how there
36:41
Speaker 12: were areas that needed clean, potable water. They were whether
36:46
Speaker 12: it was a well that they were getting from their
36:48
Speaker 12: own property, maybe it was a tank a bladder that
36:52
Speaker 12: they would have to fill up from Westerngin American water.
36:54
Speaker 12: Now remember they're paying West Virginia American water prices, but
36:59
Speaker 12: they have to go and fill up a bladder just
37:01
Speaker 12: so they can have water at their house. I thought
37:03
Speaker 12: that was unacceptable, and so we have made a huge
37:06
Speaker 12: push within the last five years with our Regional Development
37:09
Speaker 12: Authority that I am a board member of and me
37:11
Speaker 12: as a County commissioner, getting clean potable water delivered to
37:15
Speaker 12: citizens in Kannall County. And we've had tremendous success. I mean,
37:18
Speaker 12: let's talk about Creswood right in the Mink Shoals area
37:21
Speaker 12: where we had a during the County Commission meeting when
37:25
Speaker 12: we were talking about giving him money. One of the
37:27
Speaker 12: residents came and was crying because she has been wanting
37:30
Speaker 12: water for so long. That project finished, Relation Road out
37:33
Speaker 12: near Cross Lanes, got that project finished.
37:36
Speaker 6: Pink Creek. You remember pant Creek.
37:38
Speaker 12: Oh yeah, when there was a huge chemical spill because
37:42
Speaker 12: a drunk driver and a tractor trailer spilled chemicals into
37:45
Speaker 12: the Pint Creek area and it contaminated potentially contaminated everyone's wells.
37:51
Speaker 12: We got them clean potable water that's being delivered to
37:54
Speaker 12: their house.
37:55
Speaker 6: Now.
37:55
Speaker 12: That's what the Kannaal County Commission has done. And we
37:58
Speaker 12: recognize how important clean water is and we've been making
38:00
Speaker 12: that push and we're right now working on six active
38:05
Speaker 12: water projects. That is Leatherwood, Upper Rambling Hills all Caught,
38:10
Speaker 12: dutch Ridge, Laurel Fork, and another one that I just
38:12
Speaker 12: added to the list, like not that five is enough, Dave.
38:15
Speaker 12: Another one that had just added to the list because
38:17
Speaker 12: I had somebody call me and say, hey, we have
38:20
Speaker 12: fifteen people out here near Browns Creek on Russell Road.
38:23
Speaker 12: We would love to have water. We've been wanting it
38:24
Speaker 12: for a long time. And I said, let me see
38:26
Speaker 12: what I can do, and immediately within two weeks. This
38:28
Speaker 12: is holiday season. By the way, none of my staff
38:31
Speaker 12: I try not to bother them at this point, but
38:33
Speaker 12: you know, we worked really hard and we're already getting
38:36
Speaker 12: the engineers.
38:36
Speaker 6: With Potesta to look into this and getting them water.
38:39
Speaker 9: Now.
38:39
Speaker 12: It's going to take time, but these are six active
38:41
Speaker 12: projects that we're working on. And these just these six,
38:44
Speaker 12: not the ones we've already completed, but just these six
38:47
Speaker 12: total forty miles forty miles of pipe that we would
38:52
Speaker 12: have to put in. Now, we're going to continue to
38:54
Speaker 12: work on that funding and get these across the line.
38:57
Speaker 6: But the big one, Dave.
38:58
Speaker 12: Is Leatherwood is something that we've been working really hard.
39:01
Speaker 12: So why do you say it's the big one, Well,
39:03
Speaker 12: that's because there's over one hundred customers, one hundred households,
39:06
Speaker 12: not customers. I don't like saying customers. What I like
39:08
Speaker 12: to say is households because sometimes this is a family
39:11
Speaker 12: of four, maybe it's just an elderly couple. There's two there, right,
39:14
Speaker 12: Those people count too, But there's one hundred households and
39:18
Speaker 12: they've been waiting for this water for years and years.
39:21
Speaker 12: We were able to work with US Senator Shelley Moore Capito.
39:23
Speaker 12: I want to thank her and her office for getting
39:25
Speaker 12: federal funding to get this moving forward. We're going to
39:29
Speaker 12: be across the finish line, but there's going to be
39:31
Speaker 12: twelve miles of that forty twelve miles of pipe was
39:35
Speaker 12: going to be laid with the Leatherwood Project. Again, this
39:38
Speaker 12: is making sure that we here in Kannall County have
39:41
Speaker 12: clean potable water and getting as many people that clean
39:46
Speaker 12: potable waters as quickly as possible. That's what this Kannall
39:48
Speaker 12: County Commission has done. This is what we're doing, and
39:51
Speaker 12: this is what we're going to continue to do. With
39:52
Speaker 12: Commission President ben Zelango, Commissioner Tenant, and myself.

40:11
Speaker 4: I want to talk about fire for a moment. We've
40:12
Speaker 4: gone from water. Now we're going to go to fire
40:14
Speaker 4: Systemville Fire and Rescue School.
40:16
Speaker 12: Well, this is not just water and fire, this is
40:18
Speaker 12: essential services.
40:19
Speaker 6: Yeah, rightactly. I mean we talk.
40:21
Speaker 12: About supporting our first responders and getting them all the
40:24
Speaker 12: resources they possibly can, and I think the Kenaw County
40:27
Speaker 12: Commission has a track record of doing that. Well, there's
40:29
Speaker 12: something that I actually was at the Sistinville Volunteer Fire
40:32
Speaker 12: Department and talking to their chief and their members, and
40:35
Speaker 12: one of the things they brought up to me was, Commissioner,
40:37
Speaker 12: we have our fire school coming up. And I said, well,
40:40
Speaker 12: tell me a little bit about that. And what I've
40:41
Speaker 12: learned is that there's not a lot of fire schools
40:44
Speaker 12: going on in this valley, and these are necessary for promotions.
40:49
Speaker 12: Let's say you want somebody to be chief one day,
40:51
Speaker 12: Well you got to have these fire schools by the
40:53
Speaker 12: State Fire Board and making sure that these people are
40:56
Speaker 12: qualified and knowledgeable to be able to be in that
40:59
Speaker 12: role are very important because we have twenty six volunteer
41:02
Speaker 12: fire departments here in Kannall County, all doing an important
41:05
Speaker 12: service of making sure that when seconds matter, they're able
41:08
Speaker 12: to get an engine or a truck out to you,
41:11
Speaker 12: whether it's a house fire, whether it's a medical emergy,
41:13
Speaker 12: whatever it might be. And so making sure that they
41:15
Speaker 12: have this training is extremely important. But Dave, that comes
41:18
Speaker 12: at a cost, and some of these smaller volunteer fire
41:20
Speaker 12: departments who are struggling just even paying the electric bills,
41:24
Speaker 12: are then deciding how are we going to get our
41:26
Speaker 12: members to be trained from this extra cost. So this
41:30
Speaker 12: is something that's emergency management. C. W. Sigmund my office
41:34
Speaker 12: and the Knanall County Commission. We're working with the system
41:37
Speaker 12: Ville Fire Department and we're working on a project. This
41:39
Speaker 12: is breaking news. We're working on a project to where
41:42
Speaker 12: the Kannall County Commission will pay for the schooling of
41:46
Speaker 12: any Kannall County Fire department here for the Systemville Volunteer
41:50
Speaker 12: Fire Department.
41:51
Speaker 4: Okay, that is breaking news. Explain how that's going to work.
41:53
Speaker 12: Well, I think what we're going to do is a
41:54
Speaker 12: we want to make sure it's done correctly. You know,
41:56
Speaker 12: we don't want to just give out money and it's
41:58
Speaker 12: not going to the right place. So we're going to
41:59
Speaker 12: high of what we're working on right now, and it's
42:01
Speaker 12: all temporaries looking at how can we reimburse some of
42:06
Speaker 12: these agencies. So what we're going to say is, if
42:09
Speaker 12: you have a volunteer firefighter, a member that wants to
42:13
Speaker 12: go and take this class, then you as a station,
42:16
Speaker 12: as an agency, will pay for it if they complete it,
42:19
Speaker 12: because that's a big gift. We want to make sure
42:21
Speaker 12: that they're completing the course. If they attend and complete
42:24
Speaker 12: the course, we will reimburse you that cost. And I
42:27
Speaker 12: think what we're going to see is we're going to
42:29
Speaker 12: see more participation. We're going to see more members interested
42:33
Speaker 12: because that's not money coming out of their pocket. It's
42:35
Speaker 12: not coming out of the bank account for the fire department.
42:38
Speaker 12: This is the Kennall County Commission with our Public Safety
42:41
Speaker 12: grant funds, which we are grateful for the citizens of
42:45
Speaker 12: Kennall County to approve that levy. Then making sure this
42:49
Speaker 12: money is going to support our first responders. We're going
42:52
Speaker 12: to reimburse them and now it's going to be at
42:55
Speaker 12: no cost to them. And what's wrong with that, Dave?
42:58
Speaker 12: I mean, these are firefighters that are coming out to
43:01
Speaker 12: save your life, save your property, and we're going to
43:03
Speaker 12: make sure that they're properly trained. We're going to make
43:05
Speaker 12: sure that they're qualified. We're going to make sure that
43:08
Speaker 12: they have all the knowledge necessary when seconds matter to
43:11
Speaker 12: make those very quick decisions that could be life saving.
43:15
Speaker 6: So I think this is going to be great. I
43:17
Speaker 6: think we will see more participation.
43:18
Speaker 12: We're going to see more people joining these classes, and
43:22
Speaker 12: we're going to maybe even look at maybe going broad
43:25
Speaker 12: with this. How can we get Kennall County Ambums Authority involved,
43:28
Speaker 12: How can we get the police departments involved? This is
43:31
Speaker 12: about getting the necessary training to our first responders in
43:35
Speaker 12: making sure that they're taken care of, which makes you
43:38
Speaker 12: taken care of.
43:39
Speaker 4: Talking with Kennan County Commissioner Lance Sweet, all right, before
43:41
Speaker 4: we let you go, I know you're headed down the
43:43
Speaker 4: street because you are going to sign I mean, you
43:47
Speaker 4: announced it on the show that you're going to run
43:48
Speaker 4: for state Senate, but you are going to go to
43:50
Speaker 4: the Capitol and do the whole thing there. Why do
43:52
Speaker 4: you want to be state center.
43:53
Speaker 12: Well, I think let's look at the track record that
43:56
Speaker 12: I've done as a can all kind of commissioner. We
43:58
Speaker 12: I've worked on multiple projects, whether that's essential services like
44:01
Speaker 12: our water. I've always supported our first responders, which I
44:04
Speaker 12: think is something that's crucial that we need to do
44:06
Speaker 12: on the state level. I've always been there for economic development,
44:10
Speaker 12: working with the breeze announcement, getting breeze flights, whether it's
44:13
Speaker 12: New York, Las Vegas, Florida, potentially Texas.
44:20
Speaker 6: I've worked with businesses, you know.
44:22
Speaker 12: I come with a conservative principle of let's get government
44:25
Speaker 12: out of the way so that way we can move
44:28
Speaker 12: forward and bring jobs here.
44:30
Speaker 6: To West Virginia.
44:32
Speaker 12: And so I'm proud to have that track record, that
44:36
Speaker 12: conservative principal track record for the last five years. And
44:39
Speaker 12: I think that it's something that I can bring to
44:40
Speaker 12: the table when I come to the State Senate and
44:44
Speaker 12: making sure that we are moving our state in the
44:46
Speaker 12: right direction, making West Virginia a better place to live, work,
44:50
Speaker 12: and raise a family, and looking at how can we
44:54
Speaker 12: cut taxes to put money back into your pocket.
44:56
Speaker 6: As a taxpayer.
44:57
Speaker 12: And the way we do that is we need to
44:59
Speaker 12: start finding the waste, abuse and fraud. You can't tell me, Dave,
45:03
Speaker 12: that there's not one dollar that's being spent that couldn't
45:07
Speaker 12: be more efficiently spent so we can save that money.
45:10
Speaker 12: And what my plan would be is, let's start looking
45:13
Speaker 12: at how we're spending money on the state level. How
45:15
Speaker 12: can we be more efficient and save that money so
45:18
Speaker 12: we can continue to do those essential services and then
45:21
Speaker 12: take those savings and bring it back to the taxpayers
45:23
Speaker 12: by eliminating the state income town.
45:25
Speaker 4: And what's your district to gain at your run four season?
45:27
Speaker 12: So my district will be the eighth senatorial district. It's
45:30
Speaker 12: part of Kennall County, part of Putnam, part of Jackson,
45:33
Speaker 12: part of Rome, and then it's also all of Clay County.
45:36
Speaker 4: All right, kennaughh County Commissioner and Canada for State Senate Lanceweel.
45:40
Speaker 4: I appreciate you being here, man, Thanks a lot.

48:36
Speaker 4: as those of us who are around back then can

Speaker 4: attest to.
48:38
Speaker 9: Now.
48:38

49:18
Speaker 4: that we always help those in need. West Virginians are
49:20
Speaker 4: known for that. But it really tick everybody off. The
49:23
Speaker 4: nine billion dollars of our federal tax money was stolen
49:27
Speaker 4: and sent to Minneapolis, creating several illegal alien Somali millionaires
49:31
Speaker 4: while our federal citizens fight poverty, says a Texter.
49:36
Speaker 5: Tex says Dave. Capitol says she wants to help Trump.
49:38
Speaker 5: She's doing a good job.
49:39
Speaker 4: Just look at what he's done to our state, lost jobs,
49:42
Speaker 4: healthcare grants, and millions of dollars infrastructure money, education cuts,
49:45
Speaker 4: snap cuts, and she calls that progress, says a Texter.
49:51
Speaker 4: Uh text says what Brian Hughes didn't say is usually
49:54
Speaker 4: snow rates are ten to one many one inch of
49:56
Speaker 4: liquid is ten inches of snow. The storm because of
49:59
Speaker 4: extreme cold will be twenty to thirty to one, meaning
50:02
Speaker 4: he said six inches in Charleston will likely double or
50:04
Speaker 4: triple that likely well, well, only time will tell. Again,
50:07
Speaker 4: the weather cannot be accurately predicted any more than forty
50:10
