- 0:31Speaker 2: Touchdown Kyle Williams touchdound amazing, unbelievable. They puttied william who's
- 0:54Speaker 2: has to full back and he scores a touchdown. It's
- 0:58Speaker 2: wealthier to face tackle.

- 1:52Speaker 1: edition of Disguised Coverage, we will be diving into the
- 1:57Speaker 1: tape a little bit talking about some pieces that the
- 2:02Speaker 1: Bills defense did in the Wildcard round against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 2:06Speaker 1: They got run on a little bit. Trevor Lawrence made
- 2:08Speaker 1: some plays, Parker Washington made some plays. There was definitely
- 2:12Speaker 1: or there are definitely some things that the Bill's defense
- 2:14Speaker 1: will want to clean up and fix a bit. But
- 2:17Speaker 1: I thought they did some really cool things on the
- 2:20Speaker 1: back end from a coverage standpoint, from a front structure standpoint,
- 2:23Speaker 1: just I mean, the name of the show is disguis
- 2:25Speaker 1: Coverage and that harkens back to a time when Micah
- 2:30Speaker 1: Hyde and Jordan Poyer were on this team and the
- 2:32Speaker 1: Bill's kind of at the forefront of removing the free
- 2:35Speaker 1: and strong from their safety labels and it was more
- 2:38Speaker 1: just two safeties and more interchangeability, and who's the down safety,
- 2:41Speaker 1: who's the back safety? Is it single high? Is it
- 2:43Speaker 1: too high? Is it you know, are you spinning from
- 2:46Speaker 1: one to the other pre snap? You know?
- 2:47Speaker 2: What?
- 2:48Speaker 1: Shall what coverage? All of these type of deals and
- 2:50Speaker 1: how they would use those guys, and that's what kind
- 2:52Speaker 1: of the disguised coverage name came from for this show,
- 2:55Speaker 1: And so I thought it would be cool to talk
- 2:57Speaker 1: about how the Bills disguised coverage in that card round
- 3:00Speaker 1: against the Jags. Tying into that, we're also going to
- 3:03Speaker 1: talk about how the Bills you know, played, and I
- 3:06Speaker 1: d'd some of the tendencies that the Jaguars have had offensively,
- 3:09Speaker 1: especially since the acquisition of Jacobe Myers at the trade deadline,
- 3:13Speaker 1: and then also breakdown several plays that Tradevius White had.
- 3:17Speaker 1: You know, no secret that he played a phenomenal game
- 3:20Speaker 1: against the Jaguars, including having arguably the most important play
- 3:23Speaker 1: of the game when he gets that PBu on that
- 3:25Speaker 1: throw from Lawrence leading to the Cole Bishop interception which
- 3:28Speaker 1: effectively ends the game. He had a great performance, and
- 3:32Speaker 1: you know, even more important was that performance knowing that
- 3:34Speaker 1: there was no Max Harston available for this game. So
- 3:38Speaker 1: if Trey isn't feeling it, or if he goes down
- 3:40Speaker 1: or he's not playing well whatever, you know, you know,
- 3:43Speaker 1: however you want to label it, there's not really a
- 3:45Speaker 1: tremendous quality option coming off the bench. With where the
- 3:48Speaker 1: Bills are at their corner spot, and he locked it
- 3:51Speaker 1: down in a variety of ways, and you know, received
- 3:54Speaker 1: tons of praise from the media, from fans, from the
- 3:56Speaker 1: coaching staff, and so I thought I'd be cooing to
- 3:58Speaker 1: dive into several of his and out plays in that
- 4:01Speaker 1: game against Jacksonville on highlight you know what happened, what
- 4:04Speaker 1: he was doing, and why those plays were so good,
- 4:06Speaker 1: aside from just kind of the immediacy and the reaction
- 4:08Speaker 1: of like, oh, like a pass breakup nice, or oh
- 4:11Speaker 1: a tipball that led to an interception, nice, all those
- 4:13Speaker 1: kinds of things. So, yeah, as we do here, we're
- 4:15Speaker 1: going to break down some tape, talk about some stuff,
- 4:18Speaker 1: focus on the defensive side of the ball. We have
- 4:20Speaker 1: got ten plays that we are going to dive into tonight. Honestly,
- 4:25Speaker 1: that's probably not enough. There's a multitude of plays, especially
- 4:27Speaker 1: if we're just talking about the whole theme of like
- 4:30Speaker 1: changing the pre to post snap picture. There was a
- 4:33Speaker 1: ton of that in this game. But that is a
- 4:36Speaker 1: theme for the Bills this year. That has been a
- 4:38Speaker 1: theme for the Bills for several years, you know, changing
- 4:40Speaker 1: that pre to post snap picture. Sometimes it's not the
- 4:42Speaker 1: most complicated, right, They're not always a team that is
- 4:45Speaker 1: tapping into like whoa, look at this, you know, really
- 4:48Speaker 1: creative fire zone pressure or you know, wow, look at
- 4:51Speaker 1: this non traditional Tampa and this spin and all this
- 4:54Speaker 1: inverted Tampa two or Tampa two robber or however you
- 4:57Speaker 1: want to label, like, oh, look at all these spins.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Sometimes it's not that, it's just sometimes it's just we're
- 5:01Speaker 1: gonna show single high and then runn two high coverage.
- 5:03Speaker 1: We're gonna show too high and then it's been to
- 5:04Speaker 1: a single high coverage. And there was a lot of
- 5:07Speaker 1: that in this game, but there was also some really
- 5:09Speaker 1: cool stuff within that, some chaotic stuff within that, And
- 5:12Speaker 1: so I think that the plays that we have tonight
- 5:15Speaker 1: are going to highlight that and kind of how attacks
- 5:18Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence and taxed the Jags passing offense. We're also
- 5:21Speaker 1: going to talk about, you know, what the Jags offense
- 5:23Speaker 1: did to try and combat that a little bit. And
- 5:25Speaker 1: then you know, as I mentioned as well, tying in
- 5:27Speaker 1: the Trey White piece and just what the Bills have
- 5:30Speaker 1: been overall schematically thematically tying in some of the tendency
- 5:36Speaker 1: pieces from the Jags as well. I see some comments
- 5:39Speaker 1: coming in already We're gonna grab some comments and then
- 5:41Speaker 1: kind of just dive right into the tape and dive
- 5:44Speaker 1: right into this episode. Ah, yes, you know James was
- 5:47Speaker 1: in your first shout out to you, James James saying
- 5:49Speaker 1: our two best blocking wide receivers got whacked Sunday, I
- 5:52Speaker 1: feel their pain, and then our j echoing those sentiments saying,
- 5:55Speaker 1: I feel so bad for Gabe and Tyrell, meaning gave
- 5:57Speaker 1: Davis and Tyrol shavers. I don't know how a team
- 5:59Speaker 1: this injured can go on the road and beat a
- 6:01Speaker 1: team with the last two weeks off almost no injuries
- 6:03Speaker 1: on a short week. This would be a miracle. Yeah,
- 6:06Speaker 1: if you are unaware, gave Davis torn acl in that
- 6:10Speaker 1: Jags game. Seemed kind of bad initially with how the
- 6:14Speaker 1: hit looked, and then he got carried off the field,
- 6:15Speaker 1: couldn't put any weight on it, carted off, towel over
- 6:19Speaker 1: the head. All not good signs, Tyrol Shavers. He gets hurt,
- 6:23Speaker 1: he leaves the game, he comes back plays in the
- 6:26Speaker 1: second half. I also think I saw somewhere that he
- 6:28Speaker 1: had more snaps in the second half that Keyon Coleman did,
- 6:31Speaker 1: which is funny and also kind of a testament to
- 6:34Speaker 1: him that he apparently did it on a torn acl.
- 6:37Speaker 1: So Tyrol Shaver's bit of a surprising one news today
- 6:40Speaker 1: that he has a torn acl So yeah, no gave
- 6:42Speaker 1: Davis for this upcoming Sunday against the Broncos. No, Tyrol
- 6:45Speaker 1: Shavers this upcoming Sunday against the Broncos. Curtis Samuel had
- 6:48Speaker 1: his IR return window activated today along with Ed Oliver.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Curtis Samuel was a full participant in practice, at Oliver
- 6:56Speaker 1: was a limited participant participant. Will see if one or
- 6:59Speaker 1: both of those guys were neither of them play against
- 7:01Speaker 1: the Broncos. I will say though the Broncos did play
- 7:05Speaker 1: a bit for keeps in that Week eighteen game or yeah,
- 7:08Speaker 1: week eighteen, I'm still thrown off now because of the
- 7:09Speaker 1: odd number of games in the season. I'm still like
- 7:11Speaker 1: sixteen game season, seventeen weeks. Week eighteen, the Broncos did
- 7:15Speaker 1: play their dude's a bit against the Chargers to try
- 7:17Speaker 1: and lock in that one seed, which they ended up doing.
- 7:20Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean they're at home, boths are playing
- 7:22Speaker 1: on a short week, you know, having to play on
- 7:24Speaker 1: Sunday and then having to play this upcoming Saturday. They're
- 7:26Speaker 1: the early game, you know as well, four to thirty
- 7:29Speaker 1: Eastern start time, so one thirty Pacific start time, or
- 7:34Speaker 1: I think Devine might be two hours behind Mountain time
- 7:35Speaker 1: there either way, and even earlier start because the time
- 7:38Speaker 1: zone change, then the altitude difference. The injuries. Yeah, not ideal,
- 7:41Speaker 1: but got a dance with who brought you. We'll kind
- 7:43Speaker 1: of see what happened. This is a really funny comment
- 7:44Speaker 1: from Arthur who said when people said we should model
- 7:46Speaker 1: our franchise after the forty nine ers, I don't think
- 7:48Speaker 1: this is what they meant. Arthur, of course, alluding to
- 7:50Speaker 1: the forty nine ers just seemingly year after year just
- 7:54Speaker 1: getting a multitude of injuries in terms of quantity and quality.
- 7:57Speaker 1: This year obviously highlighted by Fred Warner and Nick Bosa
- 7:59Speaker 1: going out. But hey, they survived in advance as well
- 8:02Speaker 1: against the Eagles, and they meet the Seahawks also on Saturday,
- 8:05Speaker 1: but in the night game. That's gonna be a great
- 8:07Speaker 1: game as well, and they had James said, yeah, strainy enough,
- 8:10Speaker 1: we're both still alive. Are the same? Would make an
- 8:12Speaker 1: amazing Super Bowl? Joey, what's up? Joey says, Jags down?
- 8:15Speaker 1: And two more teams to go and we are in
- 8:17Speaker 1: and yeah they're down to the final four in the AFC,
- 8:20Speaker 1: the Elite eight overall. We'll see what happens. We'll see
- 8:23Speaker 1: what happens. Williams saying good evening and what's up, William
- 8:27Speaker 1: Good evening to you. Appreciate you being here, Oh Miniel,
- 8:29Speaker 1: I hope you're doing well as well. Williams says, good
- 8:32Speaker 1: evening and hope you're doing well. I'm choosing to believe
- 8:34Speaker 1: the offense can still overcome the Davis and Shaver's injuries.
- 8:36Speaker 1: There are some encouraging pieces if you're kind of looking
- 8:39Speaker 1: at things, you know, from a Denver standpoint or the
- 8:41Speaker 1: matchup standpoint. I'm gonna be getting into it a lot
- 8:44Speaker 1: on social over the week, like I did last week
- 8:46Speaker 1: with the Jags game where Jack's tape We're on like Wednesday,
- 8:50Speaker 1: but especially Thursday and Friday. I was posting a lot
- 8:52Speaker 1: of scheme and structure stuff, advanced metrics, blitz rates, blitz paths,
- 8:56Speaker 1: coverage tendencies, a lot of tape and a lot of pieces.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I'll be doing that same thing for the Broncos this week.
- 9:02Speaker 1: But as good as the Broncos defense is, they can
- 9:05Speaker 1: be run on a little bit. The metrics speak to that,
- 9:07Speaker 1: the tape speaks to that. You also want to run
- 9:08Speaker 1: on the Broncos anyway, just because of how good their
- 9:10Speaker 1: pressure packages are, how good their blitz pats are, And
- 9:14Speaker 1: if you want to kind of play Devil's advocate, you're
- 9:17Speaker 1: probably not gonna pass on Pats or Tan anyway. So whatever,
- 9:20Speaker 1: just throw a body out there and just let him
- 9:22Speaker 1: kind of twiddle the stumbs against the guy you're not
- 9:24Speaker 1: gonna throw the ball to anyway. Maybe Keyan Coleman can
- 9:27Speaker 1: get the better Riley Moss and some jump ball scenarios,
- 9:29Speaker 1: but this was going to be a run the ball
- 9:31Speaker 1: type of game anyway. Now their hand is even more
- 9:33Speaker 1: forced in this area. But if you get some time
- 9:35Speaker 1: he plays on defense, Josh Allen does some Josh Allen
- 9:39Speaker 1: mutant stuff, and you get the run game going, we'll
- 9:41Speaker 1: see what they can be. Joey says. On offense, I
- 9:46Speaker 1: know Shaver's blocks on the perimeter. Why can't we put
- 9:48Speaker 1: Kinkad out there wide and still run those wide receiver screens.
- 9:50Speaker 1: He has been a bit. You've seen him get the
- 9:52Speaker 1: ball on those little RPO bubbles, those screens, and he'll
- 9:55Speaker 1: get the ball but I'll also be a blocker out
- 9:57Speaker 1: there as well. So we have seen that a bit,
- 9:59Speaker 1: but you know, they have to lean into that a
- 10:01Speaker 1: little bit more as we go from there. Are just say, yeah,
- 10:04Speaker 1: amazing Shavers played on a torn acal and played well,
- 10:06Speaker 1: lifetime contract type of thing right there. Yeah, cool, just
- 10:11Speaker 1: not great, not great. I'm here's saying the national media
- 10:14Speaker 1: manifesting the literal only Josh offense. I'm so I don't
- 10:18Speaker 1: really watch a lot of and I'm not saying it
- 10:21Speaker 1: just to say, like, I don't really watch national but
- 10:23Speaker 1: I don't consume a lot of national content, which is sad,
- 10:28Speaker 1: honestly unfortunately. Like I think, like a lot of people,
- 10:32Speaker 1: I guess, you know, we grew up on ESPN and
- 10:35Speaker 1: then NFL Network, and I remember just all the I
- 10:37Speaker 1: remember being a little kid and getting up early on
- 10:39Speaker 1: Sunday mornings to watch Edge NFL matchup to hear Ron
- 10:41Speaker 1: Jaworski and Meryl Hodge breaks stuff down like on tape
- 10:44Speaker 1: and the highlighting and everything. And so I'm not a
- 10:47Speaker 1: big national media consumer now because so much of it
- 10:50Speaker 1: is just arguing and yelling and hot taking, and people
- 10:53Speaker 1: don't know scheme and structure and technique. And that's not
- 10:55Speaker 1: just for football teams, like, that's across a lot of sports.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Although MLB Network is sick. If you're a baseball fan,
- 11:00Speaker 1: you turn on MLB Network, they're doing pitching demonstrations and
- 11:03Speaker 1: double play demonstrations and fielding and hitting and situational aspects.
- 11:07Speaker 1: MLB Network is awesome. Their coverage of baseball is great.
- 11:11Speaker 1: But yeah, I'm not a big national media consumer. And
- 11:14Speaker 1: especially after everything these like past couple of weeks, it's
- 11:17Speaker 1: just that they just that everything is narrative driven and
- 11:21Speaker 1: click driven and engagement driven. You don't know who is
- 11:24Speaker 1: saying what because they believe it, or who is saying
- 11:26Speaker 1: that because that's what the production meeting said they should say.
- 11:29Speaker 1: You know, you have two people, ones arguing red is great,
- 11:32Speaker 1: ones arguing blue is great, and either of them, neither
- 11:35Speaker 1: of them probably believe that. They just showed up to
- 11:37Speaker 1: the production meeting and the producers are like, all right,
- 11:39Speaker 1: you're gonna say blue is great. You're gonna say red
- 11:40Speaker 1: is great. Go, it's just not fun. Just just just
- 11:44Speaker 1: not fun. Bum bum bump bump bomb. Oh good call
- 11:48Speaker 1: from Arthur. If you watch the video of the ten
- 11:49Speaker 1: plus R toush push. You can see Shaver's pushing his
- 11:51Speaker 1: guy a couple of yards down field on one ACL.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Very fair. NFL needs to give it to the playoff
- 11:57Speaker 1: by keep home field via the seating shirt, but you
- 11:59Speaker 1: may as well give the Super Bowl champs first pick
- 12:01Speaker 1: in the draft. I kind of like being if you're
- 12:04Speaker 1: the one seed, I feel like you earned that by
- 12:05Speaker 1: I would rather go back to the top two seeds.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Getting the buy would have helped the Bills these last
- 12:09Speaker 1: couple of years. But I feel you in there. Uh huh, Charleston. Yeah,
- 12:13Speaker 1: sacrificial wind springs versus PS two. Yeah, even if the
- 12:16Speaker 1: Bills are completely healthy a wide receiver, and this isn't
- 12:19Speaker 1: necessarily a complete knock against the Bills wide receivers, but
- 12:22Speaker 1: Sirtan is nasty. I mean, him and Stingley are the
- 12:24Speaker 1: two best corners in football, and that's a testament to
- 12:27Speaker 1: both of them. But you know, certain is the reigning
- 12:29Speaker 1: defensive player of the year, probably the best corner in football.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Even if the Bill's wide receiver room is completely healthy,
- 12:35Speaker 1: I'm not throwing against him, like unless it's absolutely necessary,
- 12:39Speaker 1: and even then I'm still like, now, just do whatever.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I'm just gonna put a guy out there to occupy
- 12:43Speaker 1: you and kind of go from there. I think it'd
- 12:44Speaker 1: be nice to maybe play into that a bit and
- 12:45Speaker 1: then test him late. But yeah, you're just having a
- 12:48Speaker 1: guy out there just being like, hey, man, just go
- 12:49Speaker 1: line up, do something out there. Just occupy Pat. That's it,
- 12:55Speaker 1: Joey saying. Oh, Jason says, is Wilkerson a viable replacement
- 12:58Speaker 1: for Shavers? Not as a blocker. We'll see as a
- 13:00Speaker 1: pass catcher. He's got more juice, a little more gitterbug
- 13:02Speaker 1: to him, but not as a blocker. Shavers as a weapon.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Their Shavers is like the joke of like, if you're
- 13:07Speaker 1: an eleven personnel and Shavers is out there, you're really
- 13:09Speaker 1: in like eleven and a half personnel. He's been sick
- 13:11Speaker 1: as a blocker. And the first catch that he had
- 13:14Speaker 1: on the first drive of the game where he sells
- 13:17Speaker 1: vertical in his stem, little deception, a little pace and
- 13:20Speaker 1: gear change before he throttles down. I think he's a
- 13:23Speaker 1: bit of an underestimated route runner. Like I really think
- 13:25Speaker 1: Tyrol Shavers is a perfect like wide receiver five or
- 13:28Speaker 1: four for a team, depending on how good your wide
- 13:30Speaker 1: receiver room is. He plays special teams he's a good blocker.
- 13:33Speaker 1: You know, he's a sampaper type of dude, and he's
- 13:34Speaker 1: a bit better route runner and receiver actual like wide
- 13:38Speaker 1: receiver than he gets credit for. Joey says, what's your
- 13:41Speaker 1: best bet is to who we play in the employer spot.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I'm really worried with how Hancock looked on tape. Hancock
- 13:45Speaker 1: was better than the broadcast. Showed a couple of good plays,
- 13:49Speaker 1: a couple of plays where his eyes misled him or
- 13:50Speaker 1: his you know, positioning wasn't right, but that's to be expected.
- 13:54Speaker 1: It's really kind of six and one half a dozen
- 13:56Speaker 1: the other depending on what you're looking at. Like, do
- 13:57Speaker 1: you want Damar Hamlin in there because he's reliable but
- 14:00Speaker 1: he's super limited athletically. Do you want to put Darnell
- 14:02Speaker 1: Savage in there although he's more of like kind of
- 14:04Speaker 1: like a big nickel on an apex type of dude.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Now they're a true safety, but he could still probably
- 14:07Speaker 1: rock there a little bit. I don't think there's a
- 14:10Speaker 1: great answer I would I would probably just roll with
- 14:13Speaker 1: Cam Lewis if I had to, But I won't be
- 14:15Speaker 1: distraught if Hancock is in there, because just because I
- 14:18Speaker 1: don't really think there's a better answer, you know, if
- 14:20Speaker 1: there's a better answer than Hancock, it's it's a minuscule
- 14:23Speaker 1: difference for me. Anyway, Yeah, good comment here. MLB network
- 14:28Speaker 1: is indeed excellent. It really is. They just do like
- 14:31Speaker 1: the sport that they cover, they just do it so
- 14:33Speaker 1: well because they got real baseball dudes in there, like
- 14:35Speaker 1: they talk about the right stuff. It's it's awesome. I
- 14:38Speaker 1: wish the NFL network mirror that or ESPN mirror that.
- 14:42Speaker 1: It's a shame. It's a shame. It's a shame. It's
- 14:44Speaker 1: a shame what similarities and differences exist between the Broncos
- 14:49Speaker 1: d last year and this. So I've watched the Broncos
- 14:52Speaker 1: defense decently throughout the year, but I'm really doing that
- 14:56Speaker 1: full deep dive like I mentioned towards the back end
- 14:57Speaker 1: of this week. But I think overall, it's it's you
- 15:00Speaker 1: have studs on that defense. You know, You've got Certan,
- 15:04Speaker 1: You've got Benito, and you've got Zach Allen, and you've
- 15:06Speaker 1: got Jonathan Cooper and like even inside, you know, with
- 15:09Speaker 1: Roach and DJ Jones and John Franklin Myers, you you've
- 15:13Speaker 1: got a group that can get after the quarterback. You know,
- 15:15Speaker 1: they'll do five man fronts there. They're really good with
- 15:17Speaker 1: their blitz pat blitz paths and their pressure pats, you know,
- 15:21Speaker 1: pirate stunts and what gaps they're attacking and who's spiking,
- 15:24Speaker 1: who's doing what, And that's good in and of itself
- 15:27Speaker 1: because they also have guys who can just win individually.
- 15:30Speaker 1: And then on the back end, you know, you've got
- 15:31Speaker 1: kind of a leverage based, match based coverage, you know,
- 15:35Speaker 1: from an outside corner perspective, but they don't play zone
- 15:38Speaker 1: inside and it's rules based and very very clinical, very technical.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I think there is a matchup to be had with
- 15:46Speaker 1: the linebackers. For as cool as Dray green Law is,
- 15:48Speaker 1: he can be had in coverage. I think you can
- 15:52Speaker 1: have Alex Singleton in coverage as well. And then from
- 15:55Speaker 1: a safety perspective, you know, Hufanga is a beast and
- 15:59Speaker 1: super cool, you know, but it's more of a downhill
- 16:01Speaker 1: thumping type of safety. And then the other safety because
- 16:05Speaker 1: Brandon Jones is hurt. Although there's I read there's a
- 16:07Speaker 1: chance you might be able to come back for the playoffs,
- 16:08Speaker 1: I don't know if that's gonna be this week or not,
- 16:10Speaker 1: but your safeties are Hafanga and PJ. Lock, I believe,
- 16:14Speaker 1: and even if it's not Lock, whoever the safeties are,
- 16:16Speaker 1: they can be had in coverage. Even Ufanga, who's sweet,
- 16:19Speaker 1: can be had in coverage. Like I will take Kincaid
- 16:21Speaker 1: against either of the linebackers or any of their safeties
- 16:24Speaker 1: any day of the week. So I think this year
- 16:27Speaker 1: it's really just you have the similarities from a pressure standpoint,
- 16:31Speaker 1: from a coverage standpoint, from a talent standpoint, but I
- 16:34Speaker 1: think they can be had kind of in their spine
- 16:36Speaker 1: from a coverage standpoint of the linebackers and the safeties
- 16:39Speaker 1: get those matchups. I mean, granted, Dalton Kink's not really
- 16:42Speaker 1: super healthy, so we'll see how much they can do there.
- 16:44Speaker 1: But even Dawson Knox, I think, you know, kind of
- 16:46Speaker 1: tap that in a bit, create, give some misdirections, some
- 16:48Speaker 1: play action, attack the spine, attack that second level. I
- 16:52Speaker 1: talked about it a couple of weeks ago with Cody
- 16:53Speaker 1: Alexander when I had him on the show, that green
- 16:56Speaker 1: Law and Singleton can be had. And then I think,
- 16:59Speaker 1: you know, Rbe Moss. Every once in a while he
- 17:00Speaker 1: gets targeted a bunch. He's better than he gets credit for,
- 17:04Speaker 1: but you can you know, if you got someone like
- 17:06Speaker 1: key On Coleman, maybe just try and beat him with
- 17:08Speaker 1: rass eye and frame and lengthdin athleticism and you know,
- 17:11Speaker 1: kind of see where you go from there. But their
- 17:12Speaker 1: quality unit they can get run on a bit. Although
- 17:15Speaker 1: Roach and Jones and the crew inside, they've just got
- 17:18Speaker 1: a bunch of names and they're well coached by fans. Joseph.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Good group, good group, good group. Bomb bum Oh, I
- 17:26Speaker 1: appreciate you, no, lie, I stopped watching national media after
- 17:29Speaker 1: I found Cover one. You guys are light years better
- 17:31Speaker 1: than anything on ESPN. I appreciate you that, Thank you
- 17:33Speaker 1: very much. And then the follow comment means, all right though,
- 17:35Speaker 1: Mina Yeah, Mina Kimes is phenomenal. Mina Kimes is absolutely phenomenal.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Bomb ba what else? What else? Yep? Greg russou really
- 17:44Speaker 1: good versus h offensive guards. I want to see him
- 17:47Speaker 1: matched up inside more if they can get into know
- 17:48Speaker 1: him passing down in distances, in situations. Sure, Hufanga is
- 17:52Speaker 1: a missile, John saying, ant, do you see Mikole Hartman
- 17:56Speaker 1: and Curtis Samuel up to Denver? I mean Samuel is
- 17:58Speaker 1: a full participant today. If he's good to go, he's
- 18:00Speaker 1: a thousand percent playing, and he had a good game
- 18:02Speaker 1: last year against Ever in the playoffs. Yes, Scott says,
- 18:04Speaker 1: playoff Curtis, I think if Samuel's good to go, he's
- 18:10Speaker 1: a lock hardman. I think is a bit more of
- 18:13Speaker 1: a question, but would probably be next man up, and
- 18:15Speaker 1: then who knows, maybe they only keep put four wide
- 18:20Speaker 1: receivers out there. There's a lot of roster questions. But
- 18:23Speaker 1: I think if Curtis Samuel's good to go, he's one
- 18:25Speaker 1: thousand percent playing, and then we'll kind of see what
- 18:27Speaker 1: happens with Nicole Hartman. Good question here for Joey saying,
- 18:32Speaker 1: do you think sometimes with Dermott and Bean are not
- 18:33Speaker 1: aligned on their vision Ogunjoey healthy scratch at eight mil
- 18:36Speaker 1: per year, and there have been other ones also. His
- 18:37Speaker 1: was a question mark. I didn't love the fit, not
- 18:40Speaker 1: as I didn't love the player a ton coming in,
- 18:42Speaker 1: but I thought he was at worse like defensive tackle three,
- 18:44Speaker 1: defensive tackle four in the rotation. Very interesting that they
- 18:47Speaker 1: opted to essentially, yeah, play Fiderian mathis over him. I
- 18:51Speaker 1: always thought being in McDermott were lockstep and everything. I'm
- 18:56Speaker 1: kind of thinking that might not be the case as
- 18:59Speaker 1: this season has gone on a little bit, but it's
- 19:02Speaker 1: hard to tell. But I think that's a very fair question. Oh,
- 19:06Speaker 1: Logan says, would you have Keyan be a one for
- 19:07Speaker 1: one sub for the Shavers role? Oh? In theory, yes,
- 19:11Speaker 1: I just don't trust him down in and down out
- 19:13Speaker 1: like I do Shavers. But in theory yeah, like he
- 19:15Speaker 1: can body DB's and push dudes around, but just will he?
- 19:20Speaker 1: I'm torn. I also think Shavers is a better route runner. Unfortunately. Yeah,
- 19:25Speaker 1: fair common here too, probably see more of our tight
- 19:27Speaker 1: ends involved considering the injuries. Yeah, that's a fair point. Yeah, yeah, Shavers.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Oh my god, crying emoji. That's where we're at right now. Unfortunately,
- 19:35Speaker 1: all right, let us dive into the tape here. So
- 19:43Speaker 1: let me remove this banner and then I'll take myself
- 19:46Speaker 1: down in a minute. So again the theme with this episode,
- 19:49Speaker 1: like I wanted to talk about, and for those of
- 19:51Speaker 1: you who still questions, thoughts, comments, concerns, anything and everything
- 19:54Speaker 1: that you've got there, as I can get two pieces,
- 19:58Speaker 1: I will. Obviously it's hard for me to kind of
- 20:00Speaker 1: go back to the notes and then the film and
- 20:03Speaker 1: drawing and tellustrating and pulling up the chat of questions, thoughts, comments, concerns,
- 20:06Speaker 1: get them into the chat. I would get to them
- 20:08Speaker 1: as best and as humanly as possible, and especially as
- 20:11Speaker 1: always making priority for super chats if those do come in.
- 20:14Speaker 1: So again with this episode, I just I just thought
- 20:16Speaker 1: it was cool and we talked about it a bit.
- 20:18Speaker 1: We did when Kendall was on the show with us
- 20:21Speaker 1: after the second New England Patriots game. We broke down
- 20:24Speaker 1: every single play from the second half for the Bills
- 20:27Speaker 1: defense against the Pats offense in that comeback, and we
- 20:30Speaker 1: talked about a lot of the cool coverage stuff that
- 20:32Speaker 1: they were doing, a lot of the cover eight, a
- 20:34Speaker 1: lot of locking on the back side, changing the pre
- 20:37Speaker 1: to post snap picture, you know, press beating guys up
- 20:40Speaker 1: on mash On that last play of the game, simulated
- 20:42Speaker 1: pressures dropping Joey Bosa, all this kind of cool stuff
- 20:45Speaker 1: that they were doing. We talked about it, and we
- 20:46Speaker 1: broke all that stuff down in that episode after the
- 20:50Speaker 1: Pats game and the victory in New England, and we've
- 20:53Speaker 1: talked about that a bunch in the show, and I
- 20:55Speaker 1: don't think so I don't think this game was you know,
- 20:58Speaker 1: kind of what they did was anything like where has
- 21:00Speaker 1: this been all year? I can't believe they busted this out.
- 21:03Speaker 1: I think some of it was just from you know, thematically,
- 21:06Speaker 1: you know, from a theme perspective, is kind of just
- 21:09Speaker 1: who they are and what they've have been. But some
- 21:11Speaker 1: of the specifics and some of what they were doing,
- 21:14Speaker 1: you know, was I think Jag specific kind of tailored
- 21:17Speaker 1: to the Jags a little bit, which is cool. Obviously
- 21:19Speaker 1: we'll talk about that as we go forward here, But
- 21:22Speaker 1: just I thought a good game plan, one thing that
- 21:25Speaker 1: kind of similar to the New England game. Ironically, I
- 21:28Speaker 1: thought the Jags would have stuck to the run a
- 21:29Speaker 1: little bit more, especially with how much success they had there.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I don't think this is news to anyone, but the
- 21:34Speaker 1: Bills run defense is still questionable. It showed in this game.
- 21:38Speaker 1: Getting into known passing down in distances and situations plays
- 21:42Speaker 1: into the Bills hands one thousand percent. If the Bills
- 21:46Speaker 1: can get into situations where they can do all of
- 21:48Speaker 1: let me let mephrase that they can only do all
- 21:50Speaker 1: this cool coverage stuff and changing the pre to postnat
- 21:53Speaker 1: picture stuff. If they really get into these known passing
- 21:56Speaker 1: down in distances and situations, if it's third and three,
- 21:59Speaker 1: it's a little harder because they still have to honor
- 22:00Speaker 1: the run, but if it's third and seven, third and eight,
- 22:02Speaker 1: maybe even third and six, third medium to third and long,
- 22:06Speaker 1: you can kind of play into that a little bit
- 22:07Speaker 1: more if you're the Bills, and so I think the
- 22:09Speaker 1: Jacks kind of played into the Bills hands a little bit,
- 22:11Speaker 1: although some of this cool stuff we were gonna go
- 22:13Speaker 1: over in this game did happen on early downs. If
- 22:16Speaker 1: you want to ask about the Broncos, the Broncos don't
- 22:18Speaker 1: have the best run game in the world. They do
- 22:20Speaker 1: have some good offensive linemen, particularly Garrett Bowles at left
- 22:22Speaker 1: tackle and Quinn Minors their right guard, both of whom
- 22:25Speaker 1: made the I think first team All Pro. For each
- 22:27Speaker 1: of them, they're definitely on the All Pro list. I
- 22:28Speaker 1: think they were each first team All Pro. And then
- 22:30Speaker 1: r J. Harvey, they're running back this year. He can
- 22:33Speaker 1: break tackles like a son of a gun. And for
- 22:35Speaker 1: a defense that struggled with yards after contact per rush
- 22:37Speaker 1: attempt like the Bills have this year, that's gonna be
- 22:40Speaker 1: at a premium, you know, tackling r J. Harvey. We'll
- 22:43Speaker 1: see how the run game goes for the Broncos, though
- 22:45Speaker 1: I'm wondering how much they commit to it. If you're
- 22:47Speaker 1: an offense, you really just should commit to try and
- 22:50Speaker 1: running the ball down the Bill's throat and going from there.
- 22:53Speaker 1: So I thought the Jags got away from it a
- 22:54Speaker 1: little bit in this game. I thought they could have
- 22:57Speaker 1: tapped into it a bit more. But all things considered,
- 23:00Speaker 1: I thought the Jags did have a pretty good game
- 23:01Speaker 1: plan using motion to try and to decipher what the
- 23:03Speaker 1: Bills were doing. There really was a lot of chess
- 23:05Speaker 1: matchery on both sides of the ball. Lawrence against Shaq
- 23:08Speaker 1: Thompson and the Bills defense, Josh Allen against Foye Lua
- 23:11Speaker 1: Khan and the Jags defense. You saw checks, You saw
- 23:14Speaker 1: pre stamp motion like indicator motions. You saw snaps happening,
- 23:17Speaker 1: you know, close to the play clock running out. You
- 23:19Speaker 1: saw adjustments from the defense once the quarterback was adjusting.
- 23:23Speaker 1: On both sides of the ball. Again, there are a
- 23:25Speaker 1: lot of Jedi mind tricks, a lot of cool chess
- 23:27Speaker 1: match stuff on both sides of the ball. Obviously we're
- 23:30Speaker 1: gonna see a bunch of that here in this episode
- 23:34Speaker 1: from the Bills defensive side, but you saw it on
- 23:35Speaker 1: the Jag side as well. I think the Jags are
- 23:37Speaker 1: a good team. Talked about it last week with JP.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I think they're a good unit. You gotta feel hard
- 23:42Speaker 1: done if you're a Jags player or a Jags fan
- 23:44Speaker 1: that they're eliminated already. This game easily could have gone
- 23:46Speaker 1: their way. But you know, at the end of the day,
- 23:48Speaker 1: when the Bills needed to they made the plays they
- 23:50Speaker 1: needed to make on the defensive side of the ball.
- 23:53Speaker 1: And that's a piece too I want to talk about,
- 23:54Speaker 1: and then we're gonna get right into the tape. I'm sorry,
- 23:57Speaker 1: I've said it so much on the show, and a
- 23:58Speaker 1: lot of people will talk about at this point, if
- 24:00Speaker 1: the Bills can't run the ball in offense, they're dead
- 24:02Speaker 1: in the water. And so it's like, okay, if they
- 24:04Speaker 1: can't run the ball and they can't stop the run,
- 24:06Speaker 1: then it gets even worse. And they kind of couldn't
- 24:08Speaker 1: stop the run, not even kind of. They really couldn't
- 24:10Speaker 1: stop the run for the most part in this game,
- 24:12Speaker 1: especially for long spurts. But they made plays and coverage,
- 24:16Speaker 1: they got some takeaways, and then Josh Allen in the
- 24:19Speaker 1: pass game stepped it up and carried them. So I
- 24:21Speaker 1: think that's a really encouraging thing to see that you
- 24:24Speaker 1: know if if the post game results even like the
- 24:28Speaker 1: raw stats, but the advanced metrics, if you saw them,
- 24:30Speaker 1: you know, from a Bill's rushing standpoint, you would be like, oh, well,
- 24:32Speaker 1: the Bill Bills were terrible. Their success rate, their EPA
- 24:35Speaker 1: per rush on running back runs. Man, they probably got killed.
- 24:38Speaker 1: They probably scored thirteen points and got housed. And it
- 24:41Speaker 1: wasn't that the case. Like the fact that they were
- 24:43Speaker 1: able to win without getting the run game going, and
- 24:45Speaker 1: the fact that they were able to win while getting
- 24:47Speaker 1: gashed a bit on the ground, that's really encouraging. This
- 24:50Speaker 1: wasn't a favorable game script type of game necessarily for
- 24:53Speaker 1: the Bills, and they were still able to overcome that
- 24:54Speaker 1: survive in advance. Really cool, really cool, really cool. So
- 24:59Speaker 1: let's dive into the tape. I'm gonna shut up now
- 25:01Speaker 1: and let's put the tape up there. Okay, everybody can
- 25:05Speaker 1: see everything. Okay, Charles, I see your comment question. I'm
- 25:11Speaker 1: gonna start it and we'll get to it at the
- 25:13Speaker 1: end if I don't forgive me, but I started, so
- 25:15Speaker 1: it'll show up in my category for that. All right,
- 25:18Speaker 1: This first play that we're gonna get into this is
- 25:21Speaker 1: at the So everything here is in sequential order like
- 25:24Speaker 1: the plays you know, play one to play ten. Play
- 25:27Speaker 1: ten is you know later in the game, Play one
- 25:30Speaker 1: is earlier. These all go in sequential order as they
- 25:33Speaker 1: occurred in the game. This first play here, first quarter,
- 25:36Speaker 1: thirteen minutes, forty seven seconds. Since you kind of what
- 25:39Speaker 1: we just have label labeled up here, we're gonna get
- 25:42Speaker 1: a pressure look pre snap, and then on the snap
- 25:45Speaker 1: we are going to get a drop to a two
- 25:47Speaker 1: man odd mirror look. Odd mirror. We talked about a
- 25:52Speaker 1: bunch on the show, talk about a bunch on social Essentially,
- 25:54Speaker 1: what you're going to get for odd mirrors, You're gonna
- 25:56Speaker 1: get three traditional rushers. It's these three defensive linement here
- 25:59Speaker 1: with the Bill been doing throughout the season is pairing
- 26:02Speaker 1: you know, their three down lineman look with three linebackers.
- 26:05Speaker 1: So actually let me do that one seconds here. So
- 26:07Speaker 1: you got Dorny Williams, you got Check Thompson, you got
- 26:10Speaker 1: Matt Milano. This helps them lean into that odd mirror
- 26:13Speaker 1: type of stuff because you can take Dornian and have
- 26:15Speaker 1: him be a true fourth rusher. You can have him
- 26:17Speaker 1: be the aggressive spy. You can have Shack be the
- 26:20Speaker 1: aggressive spy, and the odd mirror stuff, and again odd
- 26:23Speaker 1: mirror of those who don't know essentially what that means. Upfront,
- 26:25Speaker 1: three down, those three guys are rushing. All they're trying
- 26:29Speaker 1: to do they're not they don't care about rush Land integrity.
- 26:31Speaker 1: They're just trying to create penetration and havoc and get
- 26:33Speaker 1: the quarterback office spot this way, off the spot, this way,
- 26:37Speaker 1: make him evade, make him do something. And then the
- 26:39Speaker 1: aggressive spy whoever it is, kind of hangs out around
- 26:43Speaker 1: here as a low hole player. And as soon as
- 26:45Speaker 1: that quarterback evades and tries to commit somewhere, that linebackers
- 26:50Speaker 1: on him. If he goes this way, linebackers on him.
- 26:52Speaker 1: So that's essentially what and then you compare it what
- 26:54Speaker 1: you can pair it with different coverages on the back end. Here,
- 26:57Speaker 1: what we get for the Bills is two man, which
- 26:59Speaker 1: means going to get man coverage across the board with
- 27:02Speaker 1: two deep half safeties. But what's cool about this one
- 27:05Speaker 1: little wrinkle again, we're showing some pressure, right, pressure, pressure, pressure, pressure, pressure,
- 27:11Speaker 1: Who's coming you know what's happening here? Bishop is over
- 27:13Speaker 1: here as well, like, so we're getting pressure from the
- 27:15Speaker 1: boundary and then on top of that, got a man
- 27:18Speaker 1: coverage look across the board, Trey White head up, Karen
- 27:21Speaker 1: Johnson peeking in the backfield, but had up on Parker Washington.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Malonad's lined up over here on Brenton Strange, and then
- 27:26Speaker 1: we've got Benford in off, but eyes are on Jacoby Myers.
- 27:29Speaker 1: So if you're a Jags player, fan, coach, or Trevor
- 27:33Speaker 1: Lawrence most importantly, you're seeing this and you're thinking like, Okay,
- 27:35Speaker 1: this probably looks like cover one man across the board,
- 27:38Speaker 1: single high post safety. But on the snap. Also, what
- 27:42Speaker 1: I have a lot of these kind of clipped and
- 27:44Speaker 1: shown from as soon as I can so that we
- 27:47Speaker 1: can kind of see some of the chess match in
- 27:49Speaker 1: the adjustments. So let's watch Lawrence. He's scanning, he's looking,
- 27:51Speaker 1: trying to see what he's gonna get. Boom snaps the ball. Now,
- 27:55Speaker 1: so we had that pressure look right, everybody who showed
- 27:57Speaker 1: up on pressure. Now all we're getting is three rushers Boom.
- 28:03Speaker 1: The odd mirror piece is those three rushers plus Shack Thompson.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Who is your aggressive spot here. Dorrian Williams is rushing,
- 28:10Speaker 1: but he's really kind of hug rushing and attacking the
- 28:12Speaker 1: running back. So if the running back stays in the block.
- 28:15Speaker 1: And we've talked about this a bunch, going back to
- 28:16Speaker 1: that Patriots game where we broke down every single defensive
- 28:21Speaker 1: play for the Bills defense in the second half against
- 28:24Speaker 1: the Patriots. Dorian's hug rushing here, he's attacking. If the
- 28:28Speaker 1: running back stays in, he'll stay as a rusher, you know,
- 28:31Speaker 1: kind of like a green dog there. Green dog meaning
- 28:34Speaker 1: you know, you have the running back, man demand the
- 28:36Speaker 1: running back stays in, you blitz. It's referred to that
- 28:39Speaker 1: because usually a linebacker blitzer used to be referred to
- 28:41Speaker 1: as a red dog for those who care, who want
- 28:44Speaker 1: to know. So Dorian here he attacks, but if Etn
- 28:48Speaker 1: were to release, Dorian would go with him. And you
- 28:51Speaker 1: can even see here right like here's Dorian. He looks
- 28:54Speaker 1: like he's fully rushing, but he sees Etn, so he's
- 28:56Speaker 1: kind of keeping an eye on and watching as he
- 28:58Speaker 1: goes from there, right Shack Thompson. He's the aggressive spy.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Somebody in the chat asked, why is Bosa lined up
- 29:06Speaker 1: so wide? So this one rush lane integrity doesn't really
- 29:09Speaker 1: matter as much because you've got this aggressive spy here.
- 29:12Speaker 1: All the you know, the down three, So Bosa, de
- 29:16Speaker 1: Kuon and grud are trying to do They're just trying
- 29:18Speaker 1: to get Lawrence off the spot. It doesn't matter how.
- 29:20Speaker 1: It doesn't matter if they go high and push him forward.
- 29:23Speaker 1: It doesn't matter if they get inside and make him
- 29:25Speaker 1: bubble and go out, because you've got that aggressive spy
- 29:30Speaker 1: who's essentially gonna be able to close down on him
- 29:32Speaker 1: in space and make you right. So line up as
- 29:34Speaker 1: wide as you want, and usually if you want to
- 29:36Speaker 1: line up wide, you're kind of creating a runway for yourself,
- 29:39Speaker 1: generate some some speed to power, put yourself more on
- 29:42Speaker 1: an island against an offensive tackle out there in space,
- 29:45Speaker 1: and be able to kind of take advantage of that
- 29:47Speaker 1: matchup a bit. So on the snap, boom, there we go. Okay,
- 29:50Speaker 1: aggressive spy, there we go. Man coverage, man coverage. But
- 29:53Speaker 1: this is where the cool little spin happens. Right. So
- 29:55Speaker 1: not only do we have the odd mirror piece up front,
- 29:58Speaker 1: we got two men on the back end, but here's
- 30:00Speaker 1: one safety, Jordan Hancock. The other dpath safety is not
- 30:04Speaker 1: really a safety. It's Christian Benford. And that's because cold
- 30:07Speaker 1: Bishop who's right here. We're gonna go back to pre snap. Here,
- 30:13Speaker 1: here's Cold Bishop. Here's Christian Benford right, so on the snap,
- 30:19Speaker 1: watch Cold Bishop. Immediately get eyes on to Jacoby Myers.
- 30:24Speaker 1: And Bishop is the quote unquote cornerback that's in trail
- 30:28Speaker 1: technique in two man here on Jacoby Myers with Benford
- 30:31Speaker 1: playing the DPAF over the top Ben Bishop. Also, what's
- 30:35Speaker 1: really good on this from Bishop? Look at this is
- 30:37Speaker 1: a perfect I didn't even plan this right now, but
- 30:39Speaker 1: you know the pause on the screen. Look at his head,
- 30:41Speaker 1: eyes are down, eyes on hips. That's where you want
- 30:44Speaker 1: your eyes to be if you are reading that wide receiver.
- 30:46Speaker 1: So on hips from cold Bishop. This is really nice
- 30:49Speaker 1: against something I've talked about a bunch is to why
- 30:52Speaker 1: I want a pair Bishop with more of a ballhawk
- 30:54Speaker 1: or a rangey type of safety. He just excels in
- 30:57Speaker 1: and around the box as a blitzer, as an ax player,
- 31:01Speaker 1: you know, anywhere in and around the sideline line of
- 31:04Speaker 1: scrimmage box area. You know, manning up on tight ends
- 31:07Speaker 1: running backs, but playing in the hook curls the curl flat,
- 31:09Speaker 1: or even you know coming down from depth as a
- 31:11Speaker 1: robber in any type of way, or a buzz player
- 31:15Speaker 1: or sky safety and cover three. I just think that's
- 31:18Speaker 1: where he excels the most. This is kind of next
- 31:20Speaker 1: level him being able to stay here with of Kobe Myers.
- 31:23Speaker 1: I don't want him covering like legit type of wide
- 31:26Speaker 1: receivers with regularity, but the fact that he has this
- 31:28Speaker 1: in his toolbag a bit is pretty cool and part
- 31:30Speaker 1: of why I want him is more of a down safety,
- 31:33Speaker 1: though he has improved as a split field in single
- 31:36Speaker 1: high post safety this year. But good coverage from Bishop
- 31:39Speaker 1: eyes on hips for Myers here playing with inside leverage.
- 31:42Speaker 1: He knows he has help over the top and he's
- 31:45Speaker 1: just waiting for Myers to declare eyes around the hips.
- 31:48Speaker 1: He sees him throttle down and watch Bishop just undercut
- 31:51Speaker 1: this and it's a good ball from Trevor Lawrence. Bishop
- 31:56Speaker 1: forces it though, like the good coverage from Cole, Bishop
- 31:58Speaker 1: makes this have to be a perfect throw and a
- 32:01Speaker 1: perfect catch. The throw isn't bad from Lawrence. It's in
- 32:04Speaker 1: a spot where it hits Myers right in the hands.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Myers is just unable to catch it. It goes to his
- 32:07Speaker 1: hands right here, and then Bishop takes him to ground,
- 32:11Speaker 1: forces him down, kind of lets him know about it after.
- 32:14Speaker 1: So we'll play here in real time one last time.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Really cool, So two man odd mirror also overplaying it
- 32:20Speaker 1: again the disguise coverage game name of the show. Hi,
- 32:23Speaker 1: wink wink, nudge nudge. We got single high man coverage
- 32:26Speaker 1: pre snap, and then on the snap we are going
- 32:28Speaker 1: to spin to a too high coverage because he's got
- 32:31Speaker 1: those two safeties, but one of the safeties is actually
- 32:34Speaker 1: Christian Benford, who isn't a safety. And then we've got
- 32:37Speaker 1: Cole Bishop in trail underneath on Jacoby Myers. Again, there's
- 32:40Speaker 1: another benefit of having, you know, hybrid type players or
- 32:44Speaker 1: various body types and athleticism type of deals where you
- 32:47Speaker 1: don't know who's going to do what, who's coming from where,
- 32:50Speaker 1: from a rough structure standpoint, a coverage structure standpoint, any
- 32:53Speaker 1: of that stuff. But yeah, early on here, show some pressure,
- 32:57Speaker 1: spin to a two man odd mirror after showing and
- 33:00Speaker 1: cover one single high man coverage. Prestat good job, And
- 33:04Speaker 1: again sometimes that's all it takes, right, make someone else
- 33:07Speaker 1: have to make a perfect play and they come close. Right,
- 33:10Speaker 1: that's a good ball from Lawrence, maybe a little high.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Myers has to extend it. Myers will be upset at
- 33:14Speaker 1: himself for not coming down with it. Though, but sometimes
- 33:17Speaker 1: you have to You don't have to get the straight stop,
- 33:18Speaker 1: just make the other team have to make a play,
- 33:21Speaker 1: and they make them have to make a great play
- 33:23Speaker 1: and the Jags don't make it. Bills forced the punt. Nice. Okay,
- 33:28Speaker 1: next this next one nothing crazy. This is at the
- 33:32Speaker 1: seven to fifty one mark in the first quarter. We're
- 33:34Speaker 1: gonna get a double cornerback blitz. So Benford's gonna rush,
- 33:37Speaker 1: Shredaevius White is gonna rush. This is on first down.
- 33:40Speaker 1: We've seen the Bills do this throughout the year. They
- 33:42Speaker 1: will use these corner blitzes as a weapon, especially on
- 33:45Speaker 1: early downs, usually on first down, as a bit of
- 33:49Speaker 1: a change up and trying to attack an offenses run game.
- 33:51Speaker 1: It's usually brought as a way to get the run.
- 33:56Speaker 1: For those who remember Trent Benford, that's not I don't
- 34:00Speaker 1: know why I went with Trent Christian. I was gonna say,
- 34:04Speaker 1: cold Benford, I'm falling apart. Christian. Benford's picked six against
- 34:08Speaker 1: the Cincinnati Bengals was off of a corner blitz, not
- 34:11Speaker 1: a double, just a single. Usually, if the Bills are
- 34:14Speaker 1: bringing one corner, it's going to be that boundary side
- 34:16Speaker 1: corner They've done it with Tray, they've done it with
- 34:19Speaker 1: Benford a bunch. But you'll remember we talked about it
- 34:21Speaker 1: in this episode when we spoke on the cold from Benford.
- 34:24Speaker 1: He said like he was expecting run, like they called
- 34:26Speaker 1: it as a run blitz. It just happened to be
- 34:27Speaker 1: a pass and then Benford went up and made a play.
- 34:31Speaker 1: What's cool is the amount of corner blitz is the
- 34:34Speaker 1: Bills have used this year. Again, we've seen this throughout
- 34:36Speaker 1: the year from the Bills. Sometimes it'll just be one
- 34:38Speaker 1: outside corner, sometimes both again if it's usually if it's
- 34:41Speaker 1: one corner, it's usually coming from the boundary. The Bills
- 34:44Speaker 1: this year in twenty twenty five are second in the
- 34:47Speaker 1: league in corner back blitzes at nine point two percent.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Last year they were fourth, so still pretty high. But
- 34:54Speaker 1: last year they were fourth at four percent. They were
- 34:57Speaker 1: at four percent last year. This year they're at nine
- 34:59Speaker 1: point two percent, so more than double their corner blitz
- 35:02Speaker 1: rate from last year. Again, this is something they really wielded.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Benford is great at it because he's so good coming
- 35:07Speaker 1: forward as a tackler and as a forced player. But
- 35:09Speaker 1: Trey White has been sneaky good with that as well.
- 35:13Speaker 1: So we also got a multitude of cornerback blitzer is
- 35:16Speaker 1: in this game. You know, We've got this one, there's
- 35:18Speaker 1: another in the third quarter, there's another in the fourth quarter.
- 35:22Speaker 1: There's one attached to a fire zone in the fourth quarter.
- 35:25Speaker 1: They use this throughout the game like they did throughout
- 35:26Speaker 1: the gear. Again, it's been successful for them. But we'll
- 35:30Speaker 1: watch here and again. If you are you know, kind
- 35:34Speaker 1: of Trevor Lawrence, you're seeing what's happening, then this is
- 35:36Speaker 1: a good example too. Let's show like, you know, we
- 35:38Speaker 1: got a pre snap shift or motion we're trying to identify. Okay,
- 35:41Speaker 1: we see Dorian is traveling with the tight end. Okay,
- 35:43Speaker 1: we see the switch where they want to keep the
- 35:44Speaker 1: strong side versus the weak side. Now we to get
- 35:46Speaker 1: the motion the Bills are going to shift. Benford. You
- 35:49Speaker 1: can see his eyes are peeking in a little bit tray,
- 35:51Speaker 1: his eyes are peeking in a little bit. But unless
- 35:53Speaker 1: you really see the eyes in the head placement, head up,
- 35:56Speaker 1: head up, you're thinking, okay, it's this man like, what
- 35:57Speaker 1: kind of coverage is being played on the outside. But
- 36:00Speaker 1: each guy attacks and you can see how they really
- 36:03Speaker 1: squeeze this run in constrict everything for Travis Etn. And
- 36:08Speaker 1: this ends up being like a couple of yards gained
- 36:11Speaker 1: here played in real time. They we're gonna take a
- 36:13Speaker 1: peek at the end zone at Charles excellent point in
- 36:16Speaker 1: the comments saying get a negative on first down one
- 36:18Speaker 1: way to limit the running game option that is one
- 36:20Speaker 1: thousand percent trough win on first down and second down.
- 36:23Speaker 1: That's the whole idea of you know, earn the right
- 36:26Speaker 1: to rush the quarterback. The Bills have to do it
- 36:28Speaker 1: by attacking, you know, run blitzes, run stunts, you know,
- 36:32Speaker 1: putting a safety in the box and winning by gapping
- 36:34Speaker 1: out or using numbers. This isn't a defense that's just
- 36:36Speaker 1: gonna win by letting their front four you know, steal
- 36:39Speaker 1: gaps and you know win individually all the time. So
- 36:43Speaker 1: they have to kind of create it, create some of
- 36:45Speaker 1: the negative plays with movement like they do here. But
- 36:47Speaker 1: this is good. Okay, one more time from this angle
- 36:49Speaker 1: and then I'll show from the en zone angle, just
- 36:51Speaker 1: to show you the angle that it takes kind of
- 36:53Speaker 1: what it forces. So again end zone angle, just want
- 36:56Speaker 1: to highlight the constriction of the path for Etn and
- 37:00Speaker 1: some he kind of keeps him in a pham booth,
- 37:01Speaker 1: so we get that motion from Strange. So here he
- 37:03Speaker 1: goes Ajpiness also beats Strange on the inside. You know
- 37:08Speaker 1: the run that we're getting here, you know they are
- 37:11Speaker 1: moving Strange putting him in motion and he's trying to
- 37:15Speaker 1: cut off at Panessa, but Appanessa squeezes down right away
- 37:18Speaker 1: because he's the down block from the left tackle. But
- 37:20Speaker 1: you can see Etn like Anton Harrison punches his man inside.
- 37:26Speaker 1: We'll watch. But part of the reason he's able to
- 37:28Speaker 1: do that is because group takes a bit of an
- 37:30Speaker 1: inside step because he knows he's got Benford coming out
- 37:32Speaker 1: of the outside there. So Etn is like, oh sweet,
- 37:36Speaker 1: I can bounce this outside. Nope. You immediately you see
- 37:38Speaker 1: him kind of switch his feet because this is closed.
- 37:41Speaker 1: This is closed at Panessa's coming inside. But even that,
- 37:44Speaker 1: like this is all gummed up again, just constricting the
- 37:47Speaker 1: running lanes, the run paths and make it Etn have
- 37:49Speaker 1: to play in a foam booth, which is exactly what
- 37:51Speaker 1: you want to do against a running back like Travis Etn,
- 37:55Speaker 1: who I said it last week. He's one of those
- 37:57Speaker 1: running backs who could have seven carries for seventeen yards
- 37:59Speaker 1: and then all of a sudd and he's got eight
- 38:00Speaker 1: carries for fifty seven or sixty seven yards because he
- 38:03Speaker 1: busted off a fifty yard or a sixty yarder like
- 38:05Speaker 1: keep him in a foam booth hemmed in pend In
- 38:08Speaker 1: they do here. He tries to get up field, a
- 38:11Speaker 1: Jpanessa gets a piece of him, drops him down Doughty
- 38:13Speaker 1: and gets a hat on him too, and he goes down.
- 38:16Speaker 1: This next one the Shaq Thompson interception in the first quarter,
- 38:21Speaker 1: the five minute twenty five second mark. And see as
- 38:24Speaker 1: I have labeled up here, we're gonna talk about the
- 38:25Speaker 1: coverage spin. We're gonna talk about how Shack reads the
- 38:28Speaker 1: route distribution and how this ties in a bit too,
- 38:31Speaker 1: knowing the Jags tendency to want to throw digs. Not
- 38:35Speaker 1: Stefan diggs, I mean the actual dig route, which is
- 38:37Speaker 1: like a ten yard in breaker. Different teams will kind
- 38:39Speaker 1: of run into different routes or different depths or depending
- 38:43Speaker 1: on the situation, but you'll get that dig route like
- 38:46Speaker 1: we'll see on this play. I don't have the quantifying numbers,
- 38:49Speaker 1: but that's the first piece I want to talk about.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Watching the tape of the Jags since they acquired Jacoby Myers,
- 38:55Speaker 1: you will see there is just mad dig routes being thrown,
- 38:58Speaker 1: usually ironically and picularly to Jacoby Myers, but you'll see
- 39:02Speaker 1: him to Parker Washington every once in a while, whe
- 39:04Speaker 1: to Brian Thomas Junior. But since they got Myers down
- 39:08Speaker 1: the stretch, they're weaponizing and wielding those dig routes and
- 39:12Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence loves throwing it, and again usually to Myers JP.
- 39:16Speaker 1: When we had him on the show last week, Jpacosta,
- 39:18Speaker 1: he said it last week when we're like, oh, you know,
- 39:20Speaker 1: I asked him the question, you know, what's been the
- 39:21Speaker 1: biggest difference of Jacoby Myers, you know, come into the
- 39:24Speaker 1: Jags and he said, like he's the adult in the
- 39:26Speaker 1: room when it comes to running over the middle. These
- 39:28Speaker 1: dig routes are part of that. And again Parker Washington
- 39:30Speaker 1: can do some of it too. But you tie into
- 39:33Speaker 1: that tendency, you know that a little bit you have
- 39:35Speaker 1: an idea of like, okay, you know, here is this
- 39:38Speaker 1: route they like to hit, Here's this route they like
- 39:40Speaker 1: to run, and it showed them multiple times in this game.
- 39:42Speaker 1: The interception here is on a dig route which we're
- 39:44Speaker 1: going to get into the interception at the end of
- 39:46Speaker 1: the game from Cole Bishop is also on a dig route,
- 39:50Speaker 1: so cool little piece to go from there. Again, coverage
- 39:54Speaker 1: this guise on this one, we got single high pre snap,
- 39:57Speaker 1: bit of a man look. We're going to get into that,
- 39:58Speaker 1: and then on the snap Bills are going to spin
- 40:01Speaker 1: to a tampa two. Usually what the Bills like to
- 40:03Speaker 1: do they would like to hold their coverage disguises right
- 40:07Speaker 1: up until the snap. So what I mean by that,
- 40:09Speaker 1: they'll show single high or too high, and then right
- 40:11Speaker 1: on the snap they'll spin to the other one. Right,
- 40:13Speaker 1: So if they're in single high pre snap, on the
- 40:15Speaker 1: snap they spin to two vice versa, they want to
- 40:18Speaker 1: hold that right until the snap and spin they want
- 40:21Speaker 1: to change that pre to post snap picture right on
- 40:24Speaker 1: the snap, so the quarterback as a little time as
- 40:26Speaker 1: possible to adjust. And then just again, really good job
- 40:29Speaker 1: from Shaq Thompson eyeing the route distribution from the field.
- 40:33Speaker 1: We're going to talk about the route concepts and kind
- 40:35Speaker 1: of how it ties into this play here. So here
- 40:38Speaker 1: we go, bit of a pre snap look right and
- 40:41Speaker 1: kind of if we're looking at everything here, Okay, if
- 40:43Speaker 1: you're Trevor Lawrence cat cat cat cat, single high safety
- 40:51Speaker 1: check Thompson over the running backs. You're thinking like, okay,
- 40:53Speaker 1: single high man coverage kind of see what happens here
- 40:57Speaker 1: for Trevor Lawrence. So the player run a little bit
- 40:59Speaker 1: and you can see a little bit of a tricky
- 41:02Speaker 1: cadence here from the Jags from Trevor Lawrence trying to
- 41:04Speaker 1: see if the Bills show their hand a little bit,
- 41:06Speaker 1: does it again? Points out and then see the bill.
- 41:11Speaker 1: The Bills think the snap is coming, so they're already
- 41:13Speaker 1: starting to spin to the too high look a little
- 41:16Speaker 1: earlier than they want to do it. That's why I
- 41:17Speaker 1: mentioned they usually like to hold that disguise right up
- 41:19Speaker 1: until the snap, but a little earlier than they wanted
- 41:22Speaker 1: to here. But it doesn't matter. It works out. Let's
- 41:24Speaker 1: go in slow mo. Sure, I must speed it up. Okay,
- 41:26Speaker 1: now we get the snap. So you saw Poyer back
- 41:30Speaker 1: up a little bit. Now you don't have him over
- 41:32Speaker 1: here with more of that man coverage look. So Trevor
- 41:36Speaker 1: is trying to process on the snap here, and we're
- 41:39Speaker 1: gonna look at it really from Shaq Thompson here, because
- 41:41Speaker 1: again this is Tampa two. He is that Tampa player
- 41:45Speaker 1: my favorite version of Tampa. I know you have the
- 41:47Speaker 1: Tampa Bay Buccaneers version, but the Brian Erlacker Bears team.
- 41:50Speaker 1: I always think of brianer Lacker as that perfect pole
- 41:53Speaker 1: runner linebacker, that middle third player, that Tampa player, however
- 41:57Speaker 1: you want to verbalize it. So that's Shaq Thompson on
- 41:59Speaker 1: this play. Let's watch him on the snap. So, okay,
- 42:03Speaker 1: he knows. Now he gets his eyes here because he's
- 42:06Speaker 1: checking for this route distribution from the field. He want
- 42:08Speaker 1: to see. He wants to see what's happening, what's number
- 42:10Speaker 1: one doing, what's number two doing. So he peeks there.
- 42:13Speaker 1: But now as he gets depth, his eyes are back
- 42:15Speaker 1: on Trevor Lawrence. He peaks again, okay, and he sees
- 42:19Speaker 1: Jacoby Myers is going on the inside, so he knows, okay,
- 42:22Speaker 1: he's underneath. He's kind of eliminated himself from his responsibility
- 42:25Speaker 1: for the time being cool to kind of leave that
- 42:28Speaker 1: keeps gaining depth, keeps gaining depth. Now he's just purely
- 42:31Speaker 1: watching Trevor Lawrence's eyes. He is letting Trevor Lawrence's eyes
- 42:36Speaker 1: lead him to the ball. Before we get to the interception,
- 42:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna go forward here, but there's really nothing holding
- 42:41Speaker 1: Shaq Thompson from going here again. Myers came here and
- 42:45Speaker 1: is on the shallow drag. Here's Brian Thomas breaking outward.
- 42:48Speaker 1: There's nothing holding Shaq Thompson, you know, right here in
- 42:52Speaker 1: the middle and making him have to decide. Trevor's not
- 42:54Speaker 1: looking over here and holding him here so that way
- 42:57Speaker 1: he can hit the dig to Park Washington. So Shaq
- 43:02Speaker 1: eyes the route distribution continues to gain depth, and now
- 43:05Speaker 1: he's just doing what a veteran linebacker does right. And
- 43:08Speaker 1: this is also I think of the tendency and the
- 43:09Speaker 1: tape study comes in. The Bills know that the Jags
- 43:13Speaker 1: like to throw digs. They know this is a route
- 43:16Speaker 1: that they like to throw that they like to hit.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Shaq Thompson knows this, and especially like the covers type
- 43:21Speaker 1: of play. You know you can get that if you
- 43:22Speaker 1: can high low that linebacker, get it in behind that
- 43:24Speaker 1: second level, see what you can do. I think this
- 43:27Speaker 1: is just a really heady play based on tendency knowledge,
- 43:29Speaker 1: based on tape study, and based on being a vet
- 43:32Speaker 1: like Shaq Thompson is. Let's Trevor's eyes just lead him
- 43:36Speaker 1: to the ball. Trevor waits for this dig to clear
- 43:40Speaker 1: milano and he thinks, sweet, let me throw it, and
- 43:44Speaker 1: Shaq says psych and picks it. Really nice play from Shack.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Good run back to Also a good effort on the
- 43:51Speaker 1: tackle there from Trevor Lawrence. Now we're watch in real
- 43:54Speaker 1: time again. Just let's watch Shack Thompson in the middle
- 43:57Speaker 1: of the field. Okay, single high, maybe it's man and
- 44:00Speaker 1: Porter's starting to back up a little bit. Uh oh,
- 44:02Speaker 1: he's spinning. Okay, now he's spinning. They're splitting all right,
- 44:07Speaker 1: We've got a too high structure. Okay, see the hinge
- 44:10Speaker 1: from the corner on the outside. See Benford obstructing Brenton
- 44:16Speaker 1: Strange and then he's also gonna hinge. So we've got
- 44:19Speaker 1: our Tampa too. Now I'm gonna play it real time
- 44:24Speaker 1: from there, Let's just walk Shack Thompson in the middle
- 44:26Speaker 1: of the field. Really good job, good spatial awareness, understanding
- 44:30Speaker 1: what's happening. Eyes, the route distribution on the left twice,
- 44:34Speaker 1: let's Trevor's eyes lead him to the ball. And again
- 44:36Speaker 1: there's nothing holding Shack in the middle of the field.
- 44:39Speaker 1: Trevor doesn't eye that right side on the snap like
- 44:44Speaker 1: he is waiting for that dig to clear and it's understandable.
- 44:49Speaker 1: This is route they like to throw. Again, his eyes
- 44:51Speaker 1: are on it and Shack just lets him. Let's his
- 44:54Speaker 1: eyes lead him to the ball. Good pick, Good tackle
- 44:59Speaker 1: by Trevor Lawrench. Shout out to Trevor Lawrence for that tackle.
- 45:02Speaker 1: James says, hopefully we can mix up nicks. This is
- 45:05Speaker 1: part of again why I wanted to dive into this.
- 45:06Speaker 1: I think this is gonna be hugely important to this game.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Sean Payton. Great play designer knows what's up, especially in
- 45:14Speaker 1: the red zone. Great play designer. Nix is a great athlete,
- 45:17Speaker 1: good arm, but he is somebody and again the I
- 45:20Speaker 1: think the athlete piece will come into play, like if
- 45:22Speaker 1: he sees something he doesn't like, he's a dynamic runner.
- 45:24Speaker 1: He'll escape, he'll evade, he'll try and make some plays happen.
- 45:28Speaker 1: But I think they can, you know, changing the pre
- 45:30Speaker 1: to post snap picture in a multitude of ways. From
- 45:33Speaker 1: a coverage standpoint, from a front standpoint, sims, creepers, five
- 45:37Speaker 1: man pressure, six man pressure, showing this and doing something different,
- 45:41Speaker 1: fire zones, different type of paths and tracks for where
- 45:45Speaker 1: we're going to bring the pressure from and who's rushing
- 45:47Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff that will be important against
- 45:50Speaker 1: bo Nicks. Anything you can do to change the pre
- 45:52Speaker 1: to post snap picture, I think, get him frazzled, get
- 45:54Speaker 1: him rattled, make him feel uncomfortable, not trust his eyes.
- 45:57Speaker 1: He will get a erratic and kind of kih and
- 46:00Speaker 1: then try and rely too much on his legs and say, okay,
- 46:03Speaker 1: let me evade earlier than I need to. We'll see
- 46:06Speaker 1: how much they move the pocket and try and make
- 46:07Speaker 1: him comfortable like they did last year in Buffalo. But
- 46:11Speaker 1: it's gonna be key, and it's key honestly every week.
- 46:12Speaker 1: That's even part of the bigger theme of this episode.
- 46:15Speaker 1: I've said it for years, like the biggest way to
- 46:19Speaker 1: kind of have victories defensively. Granted, you could just have
- 46:22Speaker 1: you could just be the Texans and have studs and
- 46:24Speaker 1: be like, yeah, you know what, we're gonna play. Good
- 46:25Speaker 1: luck trying to beat it, haha. But a lot of
- 46:28Speaker 1: it is changing the pre to post snap pictures. On
- 46:30Speaker 1: the quarterback. You've vert Sean McVay talk about it, Kyle
- 46:32Speaker 1: Shanahan has talked about it. This whole quarterback discourse of
- 46:36Speaker 1: you know, half field reads versus pure progression stuff. It's
- 46:38Speaker 1: all tied to how defenses are changing the pre to
- 46:41Speaker 1: post snap picture and making you have to decipher what's
- 46:45Speaker 1: happening and having to decipher it in real time as
- 46:48Speaker 1: quickly and as accurately as possible. That as hard as hell.
- 46:52Speaker 1: And so I think that's a theme in general in
- 46:54Speaker 1: today's NFL, and I think it looms large every single week.
- 46:57Speaker 1: And I think it all especially a little large this
- 46:58Speaker 1: week against the Broncos, just on how Nicks plays and
- 47:01Speaker 1: the type of stuff that we get last time. On
- 47:03Speaker 1: this one, just because it's cool, play led to three
- 47:06Speaker 1: points of the Bills, allowed them to take the three
- 47:08Speaker 1: to zero lead, and this was the second drive for
- 47:11Speaker 1: the Jags, And so you had a first drive that
- 47:13Speaker 1: was ended on that third down coverage stop that we showed,
- 47:16Speaker 1: and the second drive that was ended by this interception here.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Good play from Shack Thompson. He's been awesome this year.
- 47:21Speaker 1: I shudder to think what the Bills would be defensively
- 47:24Speaker 1: if they did not have Shaq Thompson on this team,
- 47:27Speaker 1: which is a crazy thing to say. In January, I
- 47:30Speaker 1: was not thinking in the off season or early in
- 47:34Speaker 1: the year that my Bengo card would have Shaq Thompson
- 47:37Speaker 1: as one of the most players on the one of
- 47:39Speaker 1: the most important players on the Bills defense for this year,
- 47:41Speaker 1: and not just by default. He's playing well on top
- 47:44Speaker 1: of it, which is cool. All right. Next one have
- 47:47Speaker 1: labeled here again dis guy's coverage. Wink, wing, nudge, nudge,
- 47:50Speaker 1: single high pre snap, and then we have a picture
- 47:53Speaker 1: change post snap from the Bills defense. What's cool On
- 47:58Speaker 1: this one. You're gonna see Trevor Lawrence alert and then
- 48:00Speaker 1: we're gonna watch where his eyes go and what happens
- 48:04Speaker 1: post snap. So again single high coverage, there's Cole Bishop.
- 48:07Speaker 1: What do we got from the Bills? Head up? Head up?
- 48:10Speaker 1: Where is Jordan Porter? Jordan Porter's over here thinking, okay,
- 48:13Speaker 1: like head up on this tight end, or he could
- 48:15Speaker 1: be over here. Maybe somebody's rushing head up here on
- 48:19Speaker 1: the linebacker there for Shack, I know that line wasn't straight.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Please forgive me. Let's watch Trevor Lawrence. He's gonna send
- 48:24Speaker 1: the running back right, so he sends two and Shack
- 48:26Speaker 1: starts to widen with him a little bit right, maybe
- 48:29Speaker 1: a man indicator. So here's Trevor. We're gonna put our
- 48:31Speaker 1: eyes to our ears. We're going to alert. We're gonna
- 48:33Speaker 1: let everybody know what's up because Trevor thinks he sees something.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Patrick acknowledges it in the slot right. Shout out to
- 48:40Speaker 1: Tim Patrick. Ryan Thomas Junior acknowledges it. Cool. Shout out
- 48:45Speaker 1: to BTJ. Okay. Now watch here we go. You see
- 48:49Speaker 1: everybody's starting starting to move a little bit right. Let's
- 48:51Speaker 1: watch Poyer here, Let's watch Trey White here. We're getting
- 48:54Speaker 1: closer to the snap, because what do we want to do.
- 48:56Speaker 1: We want to hold that disguise right until the snap
- 48:58Speaker 1: so we can change the picture right on the snap
- 49:02Speaker 1: before you're starting to drop a little bit. See Terarren
- 49:05Speaker 1: dropping a little bit. Bishop is starting to slide over
- 49:08Speaker 1: a little bit. He's starting to move from the post
- 49:10Speaker 1: more of a split high alignment. But again, Trevor saw
- 49:13Speaker 1: what he saw pre snap, So what does he do.
- 49:16Speaker 1: He gets his eyes left, okay, but he looks there
- 49:20Speaker 1: and he ends up getting covered two to this side. Right,
- 49:22Speaker 1: we've got our split field safety. We've got our hook
- 49:24Speaker 1: player here in Milano, and then we've got our cloud
- 49:26Speaker 1: flat player out here with Christian Benford hinging kind of
- 49:29Speaker 1: open and bail a little bit with Myers Lawrence gets
- 49:32Speaker 1: his eyes to the left. Good spacing here right. Where
- 49:34Speaker 1: does he want to throw this ball? Does he want
- 49:36Speaker 1: to throw it underneath and let Benford you know, drive
- 49:39Speaker 1: on it. Does he want to throw the you know
- 49:42Speaker 1: hitch to Myers? Does he think Milana won't undercut it?
- 49:45Speaker 1: Does he think you know, Benford is eyeing it and
- 49:48Speaker 1: Benford might undercut it? This way? Whatever's going through Trevor
- 49:51Speaker 1: Lawrence's head, he doesn't like it. Again the pre to
- 49:54Speaker 1: post snap picture it changed. It's now cover two to
- 49:57Speaker 1: this side. He wasn't expecting it or he doesn't like it.
- 50:00Speaker 1: So he's like, you know, screw this. I'm just going
- 50:03Speaker 1: to step up and I'm going to evade. And what's cool?
- 50:05Speaker 1: Greg Russau eyeing him here right, he's watching him. He's
- 50:09Speaker 1: gonna see Laurence step up and then he's gonna go
- 50:12Speaker 1: and trace a retrace. I should say trace Lawrence step
- 50:16Speaker 1: up with him and then bring him down for the sack.
- 50:19Speaker 1: So this ends up being a sack for Greg Russeau. Again,
- 50:21Speaker 1: kudos to him for tracing Trevor Lawrence and retracing his
- 50:25Speaker 1: his own path and getting the sack. But this is
- 50:27Speaker 1: a coverage sack. Let's hold that coverage right until the
- 50:29Speaker 1: snap we're dropping. Let's spin. Uh oh, I don't like that.
- 50:33Speaker 1: Let me step up. Boom sack again. Single high bit
- 50:38Speaker 1: of a man coverage. Look right, Lawrence alerts, Oh, this
- 50:47Speaker 1: picture changed. I don't like it. I don't like it.
- 50:50Speaker 1: Screw it. I'm gonna step up, bang sack. This isn't
- 50:53Speaker 1: the craziest spin in the world. This isn't anything. You know.
- 50:56Speaker 1: I could see someone saying that and be like, this
- 50:57Speaker 1: isn't that big of a deal. Who cares. But some
- 51:00Speaker 1: it doesn't have to. Sometimes it doesn't have to be
- 51:01Speaker 1: the craziest thing. It doesn't have to be this, you know,
- 51:05Speaker 1: Dick lebau Rex Ryan type of defense where it's like, okay,
- 51:08Speaker 1: everything completely changed and there's a rush coming and I
- 51:11Speaker 1: don't know who's a coverage player, who's a rush player.
- 51:14Speaker 1: You got guys blitzing, guys drop in. Everything is chaos
- 51:16Speaker 1: and all this type of stuff. Sometimes it's as simple
- 51:19Speaker 1: as hey, we're going to show single high man coverage
- 51:21Speaker 1: and we're going to spin to a two high zone
- 51:23Speaker 1: coverage structure. And sometimes it's as simple as that. It's
- 51:25Speaker 1: just that little change and the bills will have these
- 51:28Speaker 1: little changes like this is basic level for them. And
- 51:30Speaker 1: then we have some more sophisticated ones that we saw
- 51:33Speaker 1: in this game and we've seen throughout the year a
- 51:34Speaker 1: little bit, which is cool, and so again it doesn't
- 51:37Speaker 1: have to be the most complicated or crazy structure. I
- 51:42Speaker 1: enjoy those ones tremendously. I love a good non traditional
- 51:45Speaker 1: Tampa two spin as much as the next guy. I
- 51:47Speaker 1: love Tampa two robber and invert, and you know, getting
- 51:50Speaker 1: to cover three from different looks and making cover six
- 51:52Speaker 1: look like this, and so on and so forth, all
- 51:54Speaker 1: that type of stuff. It's cool. I get it, I
- 51:56Speaker 1: love it, and I welcome it. But sometimes it doesn't
- 51:58Speaker 1: always have to be that. It can just be a
- 51:59Speaker 1: sim bull, a simple picture change, and if you're expecting
- 52:03Speaker 1: A and you get B, sometimes that's enough. Lawrence alerts, checks, snaps,
- 52:11Speaker 1: the ball looks left, gets covered two to that side
- 52:13Speaker 1: doesn't like it, doesn't want it, steps up sack nice
- 52:18Speaker 1: this next one second quarter, four minute and forty six
- 52:22Speaker 1: second mark. This play is so I labeled it for me.
- 52:25Speaker 1: You know, it's a non traditional Tampa two cross dog
- 52:28Speaker 1: creeper pressure. Creeper pressure one thousand percent cross Dog one
- 52:31Speaker 1: thousand percent. Some were kind of labeling it as maybe
- 52:34Speaker 1: Cover three, which we're going to talk about a bit.
- 52:36Speaker 1: I don't think it is, based on the rotations that
- 52:38Speaker 1: I think we're supposed to happen and some of the
- 52:40Speaker 1: rotations that we see. What's also interesting on this one
- 52:44Speaker 1: is the Bills get into this right as the snap happens.
- 52:48Speaker 1: You can see, so when I hit play, it's the
- 52:51Speaker 1: Lawrence is gonna snap the ball like I don't know,
- 52:53Speaker 1: like one in a quarter second after I hit play.
- 52:57Speaker 1: Here the Bills are getting into this like watch. They're
- 53:02Speaker 1: still moving and adjusting and getting into what they want
- 53:06Speaker 1: as the snap is happening. Like Trey and Hancock are
- 53:09Speaker 1: over here kind of confirming with one another with what's
- 53:11Speaker 1: gonna happen. Taron Johnson is coming down here and signaling
- 53:15Speaker 1: and checking to Christian Benford. This is all happening as
- 53:19Speaker 1: the ball is being snapped. Jags did some different kidence
- 53:21Speaker 1: stuff and some snap timing things to kind of throw
- 53:24Speaker 1: the Bills out of whack a little bit. So you
- 53:27Speaker 1: do have a creative, you know, picture change here from
- 53:30Speaker 1: the Bills. But some of it is also a little
- 53:33Speaker 1: muddy because the Bills are getting into it right as
- 53:36Speaker 1: the snap, and there are some screw ups here which
- 53:38Speaker 1: we're gonna get into. But if we take it at
- 53:40Speaker 1: face value, this one again is on a third down.
- 53:43Speaker 1: I don't think I mentioned that. Third down, second quarter,
- 53:45Speaker 1: four minute forty six second mark. Pre snap, we are
- 53:48Speaker 1: going to get a single high look and if you
- 53:51Speaker 1: really wanted to, you know, go crazy with it. If
- 53:55Speaker 1: you're Trevor Lawrence. Again, granted this is happening. The picture
- 53:58Speaker 1: is still developing to then change right at the snap,
- 54:02Speaker 1: so it's still kind of money. But if you're can
- 54:03Speaker 1: here like okay, like man, man, maybe man, there's nobody
- 54:08Speaker 1: here on ETN. But then Trey White comes up here
- 54:11Speaker 1: like maybe man maybe, like someone's gonna spit out here,
- 54:15Speaker 1: But you've got kind of a man look there either way,
- 54:17Speaker 1: Single high trying to diagnose it and see what's up
- 54:19Speaker 1: with your Lawrence. And then we're gonna get that post
- 54:22Speaker 1: snap spin. Jordan Hancock is going to come over here,
- 54:26Speaker 1: Cole Bishop is going to come right here, and then
- 54:30Speaker 1: this is where kind of the screw up happens out
- 54:32Speaker 1: here between Benford and Tarren Johnson. So first thing we're
- 54:36Speaker 1: gonna do we're gonna watch Jordan Hancock again. Where is
- 54:39Speaker 1: he middle of the field post safety? Right on the snap,
- 54:42Speaker 1: you're gonna see him widen kind of get to more
- 54:44Speaker 1: of a deep half look, which is part of what
- 54:46Speaker 1: makes you think it's a non traditional Tampa here. If
- 54:48Speaker 1: it was, you know, more of a cover three look,
- 54:50Speaker 1: I think he would stay in the center of the field,
- 54:52Speaker 1: especially considering, you know, the three versus the two over here.
- 54:56Speaker 1: Although I know they were given more attention to Brian
- 54:58Speaker 1: Thomas Junior on the day, so maybe they want to
- 55:00Speaker 1: put that safety over the top there. But Hancock goes there, right, Okay,
- 55:05Speaker 1: so that's one part of the craziness is happening here. Now,
- 55:09Speaker 1: cool Bishop. Let's just watch cold Bishop. Cold Bishop's gonna
- 55:11Speaker 1: come into the middle of the field, right, Okay, that's
- 55:13Speaker 1: the second part. Okay, Now we're gonna go back to
- 55:16Speaker 1: the snap again. Let's watch Taron Johnson. Watch Taron Johnson.
- 55:19Speaker 1: This is part of a key moment in this play.
- 55:22Speaker 1: Taron Johnson gets down over the bunch. You can see him.
- 55:26Speaker 1: He's signaling and checking to Christian Benford. He's going up.
- 55:30Speaker 1: He's giving him the hand signal telling him what's up.
- 55:33Speaker 1: You could see kind of verbally the body language, the arms,
- 55:37Speaker 1: his head. He's looking right at Benford kind of telling
- 55:38Speaker 1: him what's up. Let's keep watching those two. Okay, so
- 55:42Speaker 1: now Taron Johnson he's getting out. He peeks behind him,
- 55:48Speaker 1: sees where Benford is in his peripheral. Watch Taron Johnson
- 55:51Speaker 1: be like, no, get back, get back. Let's keep watching
- 55:55Speaker 1: this throughout the play. So spoilers for this play result incomplete. Okay,
- 55:59Speaker 1: ball starting to go to ground. Here's Teraron Johnson again.
- 56:01Speaker 1: Watch Taron Johnson go right to Benford. You can see
- 56:05Speaker 1: him kind of motion in for that hand check again,
- 56:07Speaker 1: trying to get his attention. Benford looks at him because
- 56:10Speaker 1: Terren's calling again this is anything terrible or crazy, it's
- 56:13Speaker 1: just Terarrean kind of being like, hey man, like you
- 56:16Speaker 1: saw that I checked for this, Like what happened? What's
- 56:17Speaker 1: going on? You see Terren's hands are kind of open
- 56:20Speaker 1: a little bit. Benford's looking at him. They're trying to
- 56:22Speaker 1: have a conference to figure out kind of what went
- 56:24Speaker 1: sideways there as Hancock comes up to dat Bishop. So
- 56:28Speaker 1: what I think should have happened here is I think
- 56:32Speaker 1: he's your kind of deep half player here. I think
- 56:34Speaker 1: he's coming in to the middle, and I think Benford
- 56:36Speaker 1: is supposed to drop to the DP half over here,
- 56:39Speaker 1: and then essentially you were going to have Taron Johnson
- 56:42Speaker 1: as a cloud player over here. Now next part of
- 56:45Speaker 1: we mentioned, So that's the non traditional Tampa two part right,
- 56:47Speaker 1: And the reason it's non traditional is because you you know,
- 56:49Speaker 1: one of your DEEPAF safeties quote unquote, isn't a safety,
- 56:52Speaker 1: it's an outside corner in Christian Benford. The next piece
- 56:57Speaker 1: I want to mention is the cross dog piece. So
- 56:59Speaker 1: all that means for a cross dog for those who
- 57:02Speaker 1: don't know, We're gonna get a blitz from these two
- 57:04Speaker 1: backers here. So Shaq Thompson's gonna go here, Matt Milana's
- 57:07Speaker 1: going to cross him and go here. Watch the job
- 57:10Speaker 1: that shack Thompson does in clearing the way for Matt
- 57:14Speaker 1: Mulono grant Aede. Shack Thompson gets pushed a little bit,
- 57:17Speaker 1: which helps. But watch shack Thompson here, we're going slow mo.
- 57:20Speaker 1: Watch him attack Boom and you see Milano engages, right,
- 57:26Speaker 1: he's engaging head on. Shack Thompson is picking that man.
- 57:30Speaker 1: He's doing that so Milano can then wrap and come
- 57:34Speaker 1: free here, which is exactly what happens. Milano gets it,
- 57:37Speaker 1: feels it, bangs off, gets popped a little bit, helps
- 57:40Speaker 1: heat up. Trevor Lawrence. That's the cross dog piece, the
- 57:44Speaker 1: last piece. Creeper pressure. Talk about it all the time
- 57:47Speaker 1: on the show. Creeper pressure, simulated pressure. Very similar thing.
- 57:51Speaker 1: A simulated pressure is you are exchanging a traditional rusher
- 57:56Speaker 1: for a non traditional rusher, but you're still only bringing four.
- 57:59Speaker 1: So the easiest to think about it, you rush four,
- 58:02Speaker 1: but you drop a defensive tackle or a defensive end
- 58:05Speaker 1: into coverage and you bring a linebacker to replace him. Okay,
- 58:08Speaker 1: so you're still rushing four, but you're swapping a traditional
- 58:11Speaker 1: rusher for a non traditional rusher, okay, and a traditional
- 58:14Speaker 1: coverage player for a non traditional coverage player. Creeper pressure
- 58:17Speaker 1: is the exact same thing, excepting the simulated pressure. You're
- 58:21Speaker 1: showing it. So five guys on the line, six guys
- 58:23Speaker 1: on the line, creeper pressure. You're just lining up off ball.
- 58:26Speaker 1: You're acting like you're not gonna blitz, and then you do.
- 58:30Speaker 1: So let's watch these guys here, Milano and Shaq Thompson again.
- 58:34Speaker 1: Everything is happening right as the ball is being snapped.
- 58:37Speaker 1: So maybe they were supposed to show it and it
- 58:38Speaker 1: was going to be more of a sim but for me,
- 58:40Speaker 1: I'm calling this a creeper because they're not really showing it.
- 58:43Speaker 1: You know, here's Milano's sitting off ball. Shack is kind
- 58:46Speaker 1: of getting towards the line of scrim and getting himself
- 58:48Speaker 1: some momentum. But here's our four traditional rushers, Greg Russo, TJ. Sanders,
- 58:53Speaker 1: Dion Walker, Joey Bosa. Those four, right, and then we
- 58:56Speaker 1: have our two off ball linebackers here. We talked about
- 58:59Speaker 1: the cross dog, right, because we're gonna get Thompson, We're
- 59:04Speaker 1: gonna get Milano, should highlight that track better. And then
- 59:08Speaker 1: who replaces them? Not in like directly, but we get
- 59:11Speaker 1: our traditional rushers who drop into coverage, Greg Russo, Joey Bosa.
- 59:15Speaker 1: So both of our edge players drop here on this one.
- 59:19Speaker 1: So let's watch Bosa, let's watch Rousso. We've seen this before. Boom,
- 59:25Speaker 1: they both drop out. So again, what are we doing.
- 59:27Speaker 1: We're still rushing for Sanders, Milano, Shack, Thompson calls and
- 59:30Speaker 1: hell to free up Milano Dean Walker. Right, we're still
- 59:33Speaker 1: rushing four. We've still got seven in coverage. But we
- 59:36Speaker 1: swap two traditional rushers for two non traditional rushers. I
- 59:40Speaker 1: love simulated pressures, I love creepers. Those are my jam
- 59:43Speaker 1: in every way, such shape and form. Now again we've
- 59:47Speaker 1: been talking about this play a bunch again. Some of
- 59:49Speaker 1: it is because of the chaos of it from a
- 59:50Speaker 1: bill's perspective, and what I think is a screw up
- 59:54Speaker 1: to the field side of things. But what do we have,
- 59:59Speaker 1: Like we have go high switch into a too high
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: coverage structure. We've got a cross dog, We've got a
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: creeper pressure, We've got all these things that are happening
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: pre to post snap. The picture is changing and even
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: that nature right Like granted there is you know, potentially
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: that screw up. But someone could label this maybe like
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: you're seeing Jordan Hancock here and you're thinking like, okay,
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: you know, maybe he is the single high safety and
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: this is a deep third and he's a deep third
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: and it's really more like of a cover three than anything.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: The whole point is still like you can watch this,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: like you can ge multiple people who will get come
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: to different conclusions even though they can watch the same play,
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: rewind it a bunch and come to their own thoughts, right,
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: which again, I think some of that is tied to
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: the last minute chaos of it. The check's not getting
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: through with enough time. But there's still a lot happening
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: here from a coverage standpoint, which is nice. Now, what's
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: good here. The Jags gonna run a Joe Brady favorite.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: They are going to run mesh, so you're gonna get
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: the underneath drag here, the shallow. You are going to
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: get the higher drag here from Brian Brian Thomas. And
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: then what you usually get in conjunction with that is
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: an OTB route from you know, Parker Washington. Here, an
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: OTB route means over the ball route. Sometimes it can
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: be something else. It doesn't always have to be the
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: OTB route. That usually is what it is majority of
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: the time. But they can keep going, they can go
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: this way. They can do different things, you know, if
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: there's a sight adjust or if there's something baked in
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: or team specific. But usually you're gonna get shallow, the
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: higher drag, and then that over the ball route from
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Brian from Brian from Parker Washington. And that again is
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: all because this is where like the quarterback is reading
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: you know he's got and we're also keeping two let's
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: watch ETN, so we get that switch release, right, the
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: eyes are all for Trevor Lawrence coming. So really this
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: is essentially what the bills have done. Like this is meshrail,
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: Like you're gonna get the rail here and then you're
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: getting mesh and then you're get that over the ball route.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: Usually what the read is here for the quarterback here
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: is that running back on the wheel or the rail
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: is an alert. So that's one. And you can see
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: Trevor kind of peeking at it a little bit already, right,
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: so he's looking over there seeing if ETN is available.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: He sees Trey peel off. He's like, okay, cool, that's
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: not available. Usually the two is this drag because it's
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: coming to the same side. So if your eyes are
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: starting here, then they're going here part of the progression,
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: right and then after So that's one. That's two. Sorry,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: these are horrible. That's one. That's two. Not bad, This
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: would be three. So you're going your eyes are going
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: to hear to hear, and then that way your eyes
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: can just go here to hear, and there's just natural
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: progression and flow for everything. Right, So Trevor sees that
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: the rail isn't there the shallow isn't there. Now you
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: can kind of see his body change a little bit.
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: Watch his body posture. Okay, on here, watch him just
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: turn and open up a little bit that way, because
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: now he's getting to that over the ball. Ralph Parker Washington. Boom,
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: there he is. He's looking for it. We get a
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: miscommunication between Parker Washington. Parker Washington sees what's going on.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Isn't you know sure? Should I sit down? Should I continue?
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: He continues. Lawrence thinks he's gonna sit. He's got eyes
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: on Lawrence right now. Laurence sees him have eyes on him,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: and he's thinking, okay, sweet, he's gonna sit. Let me
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: throw the ball. Washington continues. Cole Bishop almost gets an interception. Honestly,
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: could have should have had one if he doesn't fall down. Now,
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: I should have grabbed the end zone view, but I
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: didn't like a fool. What's cool on this is the
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: processing of Cole Bishop. Let's watch Cole Bishop in the
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: middle here. Boom. Eyes immediately get to Brian Thomas because
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: he sees Trevor look left. His eyes get here. He
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: sees what's coming right now, he sees that from Thomas.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: His eyes get to this side. He sees the shallow
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: drag coming from Myers. He knows this is mesh. He's
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: got it. He sees drag shallow, he sees it right here, right.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: So we had his eyes snapped to Thomas first. Now
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: his eyes are on Myers. Okay, so he's diagnosed both
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: of those. How does he continue in his processing? Let's
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: watch cold Bishop's eyes, watch his head. Okay, he's on Myers. Boom.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: Now his eyes are locked on Lawrence. He is watching
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence. Okay, So now watch him kind of break
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: a little bit, almost like he's going to that shallow
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: from Myers, right, because he knows how the progression works.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: He's breaking. Look at body language. Okay, I'm committing. Let
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: me fly forward and make a play in the shallow drag.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: But now he slams on the brakes. Why because he
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: sees Lawrence's eyes shift and go back towards Parker washing
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: into that over the ball route. So slams on the
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: brakes a little bit. Again, here's Cole. Bishop slams on
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: the brakes, gets back and if he doesn't fall down,
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: this is an interception that is great processing play recognition,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: route distribution, diagnosis, however you want to verbalize it. That
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: is a great job by Cole Bishop. And again all
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: of these things happening right. This is a great picture change.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: This is a great way to change the pretopost snap
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: picture mentally tax Lawrence with the Jags offense, all this
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: kind of stuff. This is really cool and just again
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: highlighted by a great job by Cole Bishop. It's watching
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: in real time now a couple of times. Just yeah,
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: the eyes and the head movement from Cole Bishop are
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: so good. I wish the feet were good and he
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: could have stayed up, and he would have if he
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: kept his feet. This is probably an interception, but look
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: at Bishop. Is is to Thomas eyes, to Meyer's eyes,
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: to Laurence slam on the brakes, get back in the middle.
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: And then on top of you got the cross dog
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: with a great pick from Shack. You get kind of
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: a free runner from in Milano who heats up Lawrence
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: a little bit. Also, even look at Joey Bosa right here.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: Watch Joey Bosa as he drops like he comes forward,
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: he gets his eyes. He sees that Etn is going
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: out right, so he's like okay, cool, I don't really
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: need to pay attention to him right now. Eyes get
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: back to Lawrence and then watch his eyes get on
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: Myers like ready to collect that route, like if it happens, okay,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: and he's sitting there waiting. Rousseau over here on Thomas,
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: cool play, cool play, good execution. Kind of from the
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: bills again, maybe that error on Benford again, we watch
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: it real time, watch these two again, the last piece,
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: Teraren Johnson, Christian Benford, Tarn, Terren gives him the checks.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: He comes down to the line. They're both kind of
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: in the same spot. Tarren waves him like, dude, what
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: are you doing? Get back plays over, take the mouthpiece
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: out to a little bit. Hey, what's going on?
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: What happened?
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: Cool stuff? Okay, I saw a super chat. Thank you
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: for being here, Ali, thank you for the super chat.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: I appreciate you very much. The question is, with the
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: receiver room down to Shakir Cooks, Coleman, Samuel and Hardman,
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: does this limit Joe Brady's ability to use eleven personnel
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: runs this week if that is the grouping, yeah, one thousand,
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: because from that right, well, let me say this, it
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: depends on how healthy Curtis Samuel is Curtis Samuel is
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: a capable blocker. I don't think he's to the level
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: of Tyrol Shavers or Khalil Shakir or even key On Coleman,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: but he is somewhat capable. But if you're a running
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: eleven personnel, essentially what you would have to do out
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: of those looks is it's still possible, but Cooks has
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: to be your ex and then you're two kind of
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: like duo receivers that like the you know, mash guys
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: on duo or factor in those wing looks when they're
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: running there are different type of alignments and condensed stuff,
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: or if they're sending one of the guys from the
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: tight that tight bunch condensed or you know, attached to
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: the formation and sending him a motion to run mid
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: zone week those guys are usually Shavers and Shakir, right,
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: sometimes it's been key On, sometimes Palmer gets in that mix.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: But with how it is like you're almost you almost
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: kind of have to have those formation adjacent or condensed
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: formation receivers be Shakir and Coleman. And again I think
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: Curtis Yamuel could function a little bit in there, so
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: there is some somewhat viability there, but yeah, it hinders
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: you a bit, it limits you a bit. So it's like, okay,
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: do you run more eleven personnel quote unquote, But it's
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: really Dalton Kincaid and it's really twelve personnel, but it's
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: more like eleven and a half because he's more receiver
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: than pass than more receiver than blocker, just like Tyrol
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: Shavers is eleven personnel, but it's more like eleven and
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: a half because he's a bit more of a blocker
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: than he is a pass catcher. But I do think, yeah,
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: it's the bill's ability and limits some of the formations
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: that they can use as well. What I do think
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: is interesting is I do like the idea in this
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: game so far. Again, I'm not done with my Broncos analysis,
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: but I like the idea of going a bit spread
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: this week and kind of going spread to run, like
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: let's get some spread and get back to the dart game.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: Maybe some RPOs depending on how healthy Josh is, or
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: some qb read stuff, but I like the idea maybe
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: spreading Denver out and going like a power spread, so
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: spreading with the idea of you know, running it like
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: the idea of going condensed with the idea to pass
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: kind of the inverse of that. But yeah, that's a
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: really good question, really good question. And then your follow up,
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: this is a big personnel disadvantage compared to nearly every
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: week of the season, then, right, not ideal against the
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: Broncos defense. It depends a little again, like sir, channels
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: are always going to erase whoever the Bills receiver is
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: that he's on, no matter who the Bills receiver is,
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: because they don't have somebody who can pang with srtand
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: like that. What the disadvantage really is, though, is you
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: just don't want to be limited in any way, like
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: you want a full deck of cards going into matchup. Right,
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: anytime you don't have a full deck, you're at a
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: disadvantage because that's one less thing or two less things
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: or three less things that an offense has to or
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: that an offense can use, that a defense has to
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: account for. And then if you're going in the run game,
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: it makes you kind of have to be like, Okay,
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: to run the ball, do we go with a power
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: spread type of look, or to run the ball, does
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: it have to be twelve or thirteen personnel. Does it
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: have to be twenty one? Does it have to be
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: twenty two? Are we looking into going jumbo again putting
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: Alec Anderson on the field. So I don't think it's
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: the end of the world, but it does hinder you.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: It does limit you. It means you don't have a
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: full deck. From that perspective, I'll just keep running down this,
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: I'll be saying, uh yeah. It will also affect the
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: snap percentages to have those receivers out there on running
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: pass place. Yes, one percent. And then if you want
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: to have somebody out there to kind of make them
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: think it's a run and then you go play action
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: or you're going to pass. It's a bit more of
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: a tendency or a tel because all of a sudden
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: it Brandon Cooks is one of those guys attached to
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: the formation. You're a defender thinking like they're not gonna
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: have him insert on duo. This might be a pass.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: Is he gonna run a slide route? Is he gonna
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: shift out? Is he motion it out? Is he insert
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: and kind of taking off downfield? This might not be
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: a true run. That's kind of a tendency giveaway or
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: a tell. Maybe a little bit and then yeah, as
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: you said, they're Yeah, I'm gonna miss those condensed rumformations
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: of Shavers me too. This I feel awful for Shavers
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: and it's really unfortunate for the Bills. Ken says, I
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: would love the Bills to play twelve and thirteen personnel.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: I think they can win this way line up, and
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: Mash it does favor the Bronco safeties a little bit,
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: like letting Hufanga just be a true box safety and
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: come forward, and Mash, I like the idea of going
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: heavy to pass as well, like leaning into Hawes, Knox
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: and Kate on the field at the same time, and
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: then working in those play action looks. Let's get Allen
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: on the move, let's move the pocket, let's go with
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: some boots, Let's do those half rolls and kind of
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: spin it back the other way that they've done the
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: past couple of weeks. So yeah, mash them play action
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: dance with who brought you? But yeah, good question, Oli,
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: appreciate you for that. This next one, I talked about
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: it earlier on the interception from Shaq Thompson. The Bills,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: you know, kind of recognizing the Jaguars propensity for running
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: digs overall, but in particular kind of running them to
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: Jacoby Myers. That Shack Thompson interception was on a dig,
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: wasn't to Jacoby Myers. This one. Let's watch Jordan Hancock here. Again,
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: this isn't a crazy play. I just wanted to show
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: another example of the Bills kind of anticipating that and
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: waiting for it and attacking it. This is just Jordan
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: Hancock right here nailing down on the dig. From Jacoby Myers.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: Myers is gonna come here and Hancock is gonna nail
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: down on it. Him and Bishop are talking a little bit,
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: just letting the play run so you can see, Okay, Hancock.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: Hancock immediately turns, sees Myers. Watch him sit ready to collect.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: We're in quarters coverage here. He's all over that dig. Laurens.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: This is the play where Laurence ends up escaping this
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: towards the end of the first half. Lauren's escapes makes
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: a good play. Koodles to him. But again, I want
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: the focus to be on Jordan Hancock right here, right here,
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: nailing down on this dig. From Myers. Just the attention,
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: the anticipation. This is kind of tendency here, maybe pre snap.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: For as much as these two are talking, Bishop's telling
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: him like, hey, we've seen it. Watch the dig. And
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: so Hancock is sitting there. You can see Hancock's like
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: body languages positioning. Again, you can see the route distribution lineup.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: There's two receivers of that side, but you get the
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: little underneath here. So he's relating to one as Trey
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: White is here, one being Jacobi Myers because he would
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: be one, he would be two. And then watch Hancock
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: just sit and wait. Bang, He's ready to pounce and
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: drive all over that dig from Myers. Trevor Lawrence ends
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: up escaping makes a good play. This leads to a
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: field goal attemp at the end of the first half
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: on a play that probably shouldn't have happened with the
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: Austin Parker Washington catch that Cole Bishap missed the punch
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: out on and then somehow the Jags get the snap
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: off in time. Bills get penalized, but ball don't lie.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: Jackson is the kick good for them? Now now, now, now,
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: it's a good comment from Bob saying, not that it's
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: a good thing to have injuries a wide receiver, but
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: the different personnel may look like tendency breaker plays. That's
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: a fair point, you know, if you've got to run
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: different stuff now because you don't have the personnel, you
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: haven't had that before, that's not on tape. Maybe get
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: some new stuff, all right, And then Joeys saying our
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: offensive line does outweigh them by a significant number of those,
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: so they may there may be more power game fair.
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: My thing with that is too though, it's not purely
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: just about weight, like DJ Jones is a monster against
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: the run, Zach Allen as a monster like it's not
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: always just about weight. It's playstyle and skill set. And
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: they got dudes up front. But again, part of the
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: size piece and body type thing is a larger conversation
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: of why there's been struggles for the Broncos run game
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: down the stretch, and I do think they can be
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: had a little bit, especially by the Bills. But we
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: will see this next one one of the several standout
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: plays by Tradevious White. We're gonna get two back to
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: back here. This is a bit of the Tredevious White
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: portion of the episode. Here will also conclude on one
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: as well. So Trey is going to get this pass
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: breakup here out of palms coverage, which I'm going to
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: talk about in a minute. Let's also, you know, focus
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: on Trevor Lawrence here, get him with the play, run
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: for a little bit, and then talk about Palms. Watch
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence hands on ears why because he's alerting, he's checking.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: We've seen it before, running back, acknowledges it. He's gonna
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: shift right. Strange and Myers are talking. You saw Strange
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: just kind of put his hands up to Jacoby Myers.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: Everybody's confirming everything. Got a bit of a play Chaine,
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: because Trevor thinks he sees something and what he's got
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: going on right now. Palm's coverage for those who do
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: not know Palms is some people viewing in the cover,
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: two families, some people viewing in the quarters family. I
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: viewed in the orter's family because of what the safety
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: does on you know, that type of play and that
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: type of responsibility. So Trey White is playing Palms. Okay,
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: he's there. We have Palms coverage to this side. Essentially,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: what that means is Tredevius White is reading again. I
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: mentioned it earlier and I've mentioned on the shows before.
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: Just in case those who don't know, we number the
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: pass catching options from the outside end. So if we're
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: going from the boundary, Jakobe Myers is one, Bretton Strangers two.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: We're going over here, Brian Thomas is one, Parker Washington
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: is two. Travis etn because he's to this side, he
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: is the three. Okay, So keep those numbers in mind
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: because they mean something in general, but especially in palms.
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: So the corner here is reading two to one. That's
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: who he's reading. He is reading number two. If two
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: goes out, he is going to jump that. That is
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: the biggest thing. So that's why you know, some people
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: call it it put in the cover two distinction because
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: if you get that out here, he's gonna jump it.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: Say you get the vertical from one, then the safety's
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: got to turn into a split field safety over here
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: to try and get on top of that number one.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: But again, eyes here, you got two to one. You
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: are reading two to one. Okay, keep that in mind
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: for this. So if two goes out, Trey's jumping it.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: The safety has to get to the one. If number
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: two goes inside or underneath, usually inside underneath, that's usually
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: within five yards, Trey would then again if number two
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: kind of draw it out two goes inside er underneath,
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: Trey would then match number one. Okay, that's why I
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: kind of put in the quarterspiece because of the match,
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: you know, element of it, all the branded you can
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: have match in other coverage as well. But I digress.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: So again, if two goes out, he's jumping it. Safety
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: has to get over the top to one. If two
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: goes insider underneath, he Trey is going to match number
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: one and stay on top of him. Now the safety,
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: you'll notice he's more in more of a quarters alignment here. Again,
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: another aspect of why I kind of put it into that
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: quarters family, although it is like kind of cover two
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: post snap piece. I gotta stop talking about this because
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: we could argue this till the cows come home. So
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: safety has a quarters alignment, he's not necessarily getting to
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: a deep path. The safety is also keying two to one. Okay,
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: So he's king Brenton strange to Jacoby Myers, just like
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: Trey White is. If number two goes vertical, and that
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: doesn't necessarily mean like vertical vertical, it means like any
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: route like above five yards. So if he vertical stems
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: here in posts or something like that, right, there's any vertical.
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: If he gets like above five yards, the safety is
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: going to scooch and then match the number two from
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: an inside perspective and on the top, not letting him
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: cross his face. Again, he's going to play that like
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: he's a quarter safety. If number two goes underneath, right,
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: So again, like we talked about two goes underneath, what
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: Jordan Hancock would then do. He's gonna get eyes on
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: number one and he essentially is going to kind of
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: play it again like quarters, and he'll look to cut
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: any inbreaking route. So we got a slant. If that's
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: kind of a messy slant, uh slant, if we got
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: a dick, if we got a post, if we got
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: even like a little curl or something right there, like
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: he's kind of taken that right man, it's a lot
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: of a lot. And again, similar to what we talk
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: about with the trade piece, if number two goes out,
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: this safety is going to push crazy line there is
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: going to push to number one, kind of push to
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: him get over the top. So again, if if two
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: kind of eliminates himself and goes underneath, and one takes
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: an outside release, you're gonna close the middle of the field.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: If two is out, you're like, we get on this play.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: You pushed number one and you essentially them play cover two.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: So hope everybody understood that breakdown of palms. I hope.
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: I can think a lot of coverages get thrown out
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: a bunch, and I always try to, especially on the show,
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: make sure that if I'm saying something, I'm explaining it.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: And again, well we're gonna get on this one. I
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: wanted to explain all the different avenues that this could
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: go in, and there's honestly, there's more we can talk
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: about this for like a good chunk of time, but
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: all we're gonna get on this one is the tight end.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: Number two is going to go out, which means Trey
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: is going to jump that out and then Jordan Hancock
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: would then have to get over the top onto Jacoby
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: Myers here who is the one, and essentially this will
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: play out like Cover two, but it is palms. It's
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: also referred to as to reading the number two receiver
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: right here, so some people instead of same palms, they'll
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: say to read, we're looking at this side right man coverage,
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: man coverage, man coverage. We got a bit of you know,
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: a split field type of look man to one side
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: and then palms to the other. If let's let's focus
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: on the bottom of the screen here, right, this is
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: straight up man man eyes we're on our guy. Man
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: eyes were on our guy. Let's watch Benford. Let's watch
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: Taron Johnson at the bottom of the screen, straight up
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: man coverage safety over the top, so essentially playing two
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: man to the bottom of the screen. Okay, now let's
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: go back to Trey. Watch Trey. Beautiful job from Tredavious White. Okay,
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: lined up again, why do we have post snap? We're
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: playing poems right, some more of a quarters alignment from
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: the safety we're key in two to one from Tredeavious White.
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: Trey is watching Brenton Strange. He opens up, sees how
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: the routes are developing again, eyes around Brenton Strange, Strange
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: that number two. He goes out, Trey plants and is
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: all over it. Laurence thinks he's got zone to this side.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: Like he sees him dropping off. He's thinking like, okay,
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: this might be quarters. But whatever he's thinking, linebacker hasn't
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: gone out either way. I got space, I got time.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: Let me pull the trigger. This is nice, but Trey
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: is reading it, waiting it, triggers, drives punches right through
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: the hands. Good PBu White, good coverage call again, bit
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: of a split field coverage, got two man to the bottom,
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: palms to the top, and a great job by Trey
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: White reading two to one seeing the out. Even a
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: little bit of a delayed release from Brenton Strange as
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: the two. Let's watch Brenton Strange right here. Watch them
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: kind of take a bit of a delay release. Delayed release,
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: I should say, try and create some space for himself,
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: monkey up the timing, boom trays all over it. Good hips,
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: good feet. I'm not trying to jinx him, but you
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: wouldn't look at that dude and be like, oh man,
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: he's coming off of like really bad, really bad Achilles
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: injury and an acl injury. Boom plant drive. Laurence doesn't
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: see it. Gets trapped also with this too. You know,
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: we'll talk about kind of the apex player here Milano.
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: So he gets his eyes on Strange and he sees
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: Strange as going out, so he knows, Okay, Trey's got that.
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: Let me continue to get vertical, which he does. So
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: now we're on number two here, get a little route
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: here from Jakobe Myers. Milano's here, Hancock's there, if there's
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: nowhere to go, Good job, good times, Good peu. Trey White.
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: Next one, also another piece from Trey White. We are
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: going to get cover three from the Buffalo Bills. After
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: we have a bit of a too high structure to
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: start look at. We got a safety here, we got
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: a safety here showing a little bit of some too
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: high stuff. What are we kind of thinking over here
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: for Trevor Lawrence Maybe man man man man. Maybe again
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: they could spend to something else, but either way, at
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: the end of the day, we have a too high
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: coverage structure. That's what we have right now. Let's watch
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: Trey White on the snap we go, Actually, before we
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: watch Trey, let's watch the safeties on the snap. We're
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: gonna get cover three. So you can even see they're
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: starting to show it already. Bishop's gonna get to the post.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: Jordan Hancock is gonna buzz down. We are getting cover
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: three buzz here. We're also getting a drop eight, a
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: true drop eight. This isn't you know, rush three and
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: then there's eight in coverage, but it's odd mirror. This
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: is a true drop eight. We've got one, two, three
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: rushers and we've got a legit one, two, three, four, five,
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: six seven eight in coverage, So a legitimate drop eight
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: from the Buffalo Bills. Okay, Cole Bishop, he's gonna get
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: to the post right, single high safety reading Trevor Lawrence
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: a little bit, kind of seeing what's going on. He's,
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: you know, shading to the field side here a little bit.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: Ball's somewhat you know, Ball's not exactly on the hash,
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: but it's close to the right hash. So Bishop playing
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: the field a little bit, even though he is that
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: single high safety. Let's watch the drevious White. White does
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: a really good job, right if you are going to
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: get you know, two verticals, two vertical based routes, two
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: vertical stems. As that deep third player, you've got the
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: space those vertical routes. And that is exactly what Tredevious
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: White does on this play. So he sees peripherals here
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: with Thomas, and then he sees Brenton Strange on the
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: scene right, So he knows he's got two verticals. He's
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: got to figure this out. But he's his eyes are
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: on Oh that's a horrible, horrible line. His eyes this
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: is gonna be straight. But his eyes are on Trevor Lawrence.
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: So watch Trey, even though he starts lined up over
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: Brian Thomas Junior outside, watch Trey start to drift. Why
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: because his eyes are on Lawrence. He sees, okay, he's
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: looking inside. His eyes are inside, and then Trevor Lawrence.
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: His eyes are on the safeties. Trance is gonna snap
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: this ball, and his eyes are on the cupboarde structure.
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: He sees that it's single high. He sees Bishop is
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: over here. He's thinking, oh man, right up the numbers.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: This seam ball is there. Let me look what's he doing?
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: Still looking over here a little bit, looking towards Bishop,
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: trying to hold him a little bit, thinking like, okay,
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: something's going over this way. Look at Lawrence's eyes, Look
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: where he's looking. And then all of a sudden, Lawrence
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: turns a little bit, opens up towards Strange. He thinks
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: the seam ball is there, but Trey has already started
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: drifting undercuts it. Honestly could have made an interception. Well,
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: watching in real time so you can get the true
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: feel for it. Watch Trey. You can see see that
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: drift right, He's already starting to drift before Lawrence, you know,
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: is setting and transferring because he's watching his eyes. He's
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: already starting to lean because he sees, oh, he's gonna
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: he's gonna take that scene, beat him to it. Great
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: play from Trey White, good feel for coverage, good spacing
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: of the route distribution, not even really a spacing because
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: he's up on Thomas. He's really more shaded towards Brian Thomas.
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: He just reads what's going on here and drifts and
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: takes care of it. Also to an example what I
- 1:27:19Speaker 1: mentioned earlier, right like Brian Thomas Junior, so he runs
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: like a vertical based stem, but he's not running a
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: true vertical it's not a nine route, it's not a
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: go route. Watch Brian Thomas Junior and it starts to
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: throttle down, but that like he's running like a deep
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: out that's a vertical based stem. So both of those guys,
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: as far as like your kind of coverage rules for
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: like route distribution, those guys are both like vertical base routes.
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: So Trey has to honor both of them. He doesn't
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: know what's coming, but again this is a great his
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: body language. He's already leaning this way. He's already starting
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: to drift towards that scene because he sees Trevor Lawrence
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: and he lets his eyes lead him right to the ball,
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: just like Shack Thompson did on that Tampa To interception
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: earlier in the game. One more time in real time
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: for Tray White. Great play from Trey. Yeah, and as
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: Douglas says in the comments, Tray flying into the picture
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: from the end zone. Angle on this place so funny,
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: a thousand. It's like a cat coming out of nowhere,
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: like a cat. You know, You're sitting chilling on a
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: couch and all of a sudden a cat comes flying
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: out of nowhere and attack your face or your head.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: That's exactly what Tray is like. He bounces on this
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: ball out of nowhere like he's a cat. I have
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: that angle on my Twitter and Blue Sky in case
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: anybody cares. Pro underscore underscore and on Twitter, pro ant
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: on Blue Sky. No underscores there, just pro A and
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: t last time, I just like this play. This is
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: so good. This is such a good play. Anytime I
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: see a deep third corner and cover three making a
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: play on the seam, that's nice. Oh real, nice, good job.
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: Tray shout out to Trey. All right, we got two
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: plays left. Huh. This next one now, fourth quarter, seven minutes,
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: twenty one seconds. This is going to be a fire
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: zone from the Buffalo Bills. Essentially a fire zone. You're
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: just getting like a five man pressure and then like
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: three D three under coverage behind it. Usually it's match
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: based rules base. We're gonna go from there. We're gonna
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: get an indicator motion from Trevor Lawrence causing him to
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: alert and then confirm his hot with Parker Washington over here.
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: Parker Washington, awesome player talked about him last week in
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: the matchup preview show. He's a good dude, good baller.
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: The Bills again on the snap, gonna change your coverage.
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: We're gonna spin a little bit. They're gonna create a
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: free runner in Christian Benford. We're gonna watch Matt Milano
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: crush the running back, and then we're gonna see the
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: Bills essentially force the ball where they want it to go.
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: So let's look at what we got going on here. Okay,
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: single high coverage, single high look, I should say, from
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: Bill's standpoint, So Jacoby Myers, right, that little indicator motion
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: pops back in or goes in, pops back out right.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: Lawrence c what the defense does, checks, okay, thinks he
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: has an idea. He's gonna alert again. Hands over ears.
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: Watch Jakobe Myers go back into the slot. Hands on
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: ears for Lawrence. Let's watch Myers in the slot, hands
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: on ears for him. Everybody's kind of checking. Let's watch
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: tight end here. Okay, watch him peek inside peak back.
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: He acknowledges, right, so we're getting an alert. We're getting
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: a check from Trevor Lawrence. Now, let's watch Trevor Lawrence. Now,
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: Parker Washington, his eyes are in the backfield on Trevor Lawrence.
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: Trevor's gonna look to him and confirm, like, yeah, you're
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: in my eye. Parker Washington takes his mouthpiece out, says something,
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: confirms with him like puts a hand up. Okay, I
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: got you. Okay. Now we're already starting to see it.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: We're starting to see movement. We're starting to see movement.
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: We're starting to see movement. Right, So as Trevor Lawrence,
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: let's watch that as well. Right, Like, let's just focus
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: on the movement of the Bills defense in relation to
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: Trevor Lawrence. Watch right after Lawrence and Washington signal to
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: each other, the snap is gonna happen. That's when the
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: Bills spin. So the Bills are holding this disguise right
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: up until the snap. Again, Trevor's doing all his checks
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: and confirmations. Here comes the snap. Bang, we're changing. Look
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: at that. Look at the movie from Taron Johnson, Milano, Hancock, Bishop,
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: watch those four guys. The snap is about to happen.
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: Watch them all move. Bang, that's nice. Hold it right
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: up until the snap. He thinks he knows what's up. Bang,
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: pictures changing real nice, and then they're moving in unison
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: coordination right synchronized dance. Boom. Look at it. This is
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: also kind of this motion. Watching it like the reason
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: I keep rewinding it and playing it from the same spot.
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: You can see the fire zone nature of it. Right.
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: So watch Milano, watch Benford come through on the rush.
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: They're gonna bring two guys to the B gap love
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: pressures that do that kind of stuff. Seattle does that
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: stuff all the time. Those B gap pressures really good stuff.
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: Let's focus on that first, right, Milano is gonna rush
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: Benford head up on Parker. Washington selling really well, hey,
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: I'm head up on this dude on man coverage. I'm
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: not peeking inside like I normally do when I corner Blitz.
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: He's head up, eyes around Parker Washington. He's selling that right.
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: Based on what the Jags do or the Jag see
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: what Lauren sees, We're going to get a four man
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: slide this way. What that means is the tackle is
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: going to go out here with Bosa, which means we're
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: gonna get a two on one here with Milano on
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: the running back, which then leaves Christian Benford free. Okay,
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: so that's essentially what happens here. But as I talk
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: about let's talk about the path Milano, Benford, both of
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: those guys rushing through the B gap. So a gap
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: is between center and the guard. The B gap is
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: between the guard and the tackle. Okay, we get that
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: four man slide. Here's the B gap, right, y'all? Where
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: does Matt Milano go through the B gap? Watch Milonal
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: crush the running back. We're gonna go in real time
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: a couple times to watch Milonal crush. This running back
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: just runs right through. Tooton Boop, detonates on him, blows
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: him up. Boop. But again, now, let's watch Benford in
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: relation to that. Right now, Benford's free coming right down
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: the pipe, ends up getting a hand on the pass,
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: hands up, hands up, gets hands up, tips the ball
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: ends up short of the feet. Now, even if this
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: ball was completed right, this ball is on the thirty
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: nine yard line. Washington, we talked about it, right Parker.
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: Washington knows that he's hot, so he's gonna see this
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: and he's gonna be like, okay, cool, let me sit
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: right there. Actually it's not even that deep. He's like, okay, cool,
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: let me sit right here. But the Bills are playing
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: for that. They are looking for that. So watch Bishop,
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: watch Jack Thompson. Gam We're getting three deep ree under.
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: What's cool is Bishop is going to be one of
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: those three unders. Thompson is going to be a three
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: one of the three unders. Rousseau will be one of
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: the three unders. Hancock's going here, Terren's going here, Trey
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: White is going here. Okay, but Thompson reads the route distribution.
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: Bishop reads the route distribution. Watch them just see because
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: their eyes are on it. Right, Bishop has to slow
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: down a little bit in case the ball comes here. Right,
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: He can't just completely vacate and spin down and all
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: of a sudden like this guy is completely unaccounted for.
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: But Bishop, so look at Bishop. He's coming forward, eyes
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: on Lawrence, kind of seeing what's up. The pressure's gonna
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: get there, turns settles a little bit. Hancock is making
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: his way over the top in case this route goes
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: this way. Thompson's eyes are there, knows what he's gotten.
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: The periphery pressure's gonna get there. Lawrence has to spit
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: this ball out. Hoigh yea. So even if that ball's completed,
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: that's going nowhere. It's a one yard game. Bishop and
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: Thompson are right there to make the tackle. And again
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: that's using that right like, let's make him think A,
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: we're gonna bring b He's established his hots. Parker Washington
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: just replaces thinking like, oh okay, I'm hot, let me replace.
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: Lawrence is like, let me hit my hot, and the
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: Bills are like, cool, that's exactly what we wanted you
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: to do. I like this, just the last minute spin
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: Milano blowing up the running back. Benford coming in free
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: because they created a three on two or a two
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: on one. Benford gets his hands up deflex the ball.
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: But even if this ball is completed down right away
- 1:35:43Speaker 1: and it's second down, so you're gonna you're gonna have
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: a third and long, it ends up being a third
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: and long because it's an incompletion. But that's just so nice,
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: really nice. I love this type of stuff. This is
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: my jam all day. Fire zone sims creepers. Give me
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: that this is nice and again right through that b
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: gap boom boom boom, nice good stuff, good football stuff.
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: Hold on, I'll go here, Kent. Kent said, Damn, I'm
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: watching this in slow motion. I'm still confused. If you
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: mean to sincerely tell me what if I can explain
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: something for you, tell me so I can kind of
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: if I need to slow it down further. If I
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: need to explain something better, tell me so I can
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: kind of make that better for you a little bit. There.
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: I will come. If you end up putting a thought
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: or quite comment into the chat, I will. Actually I'll
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: play one more time in slow motion, just in case,
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: in case you're formulating a thought. One more time in
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: slow mo. Okay, well, I'm gonna go here and then
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: k indicator motion guys moving around, let's change. I don't
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: want anybody to be confused, although it's not the easiest
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: thing to grasp. Okay, spins, here we go. I'm going
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: in slow motion, but also kind of stopping it a
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: little bit so everyone can kind of see how things
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: are developing. Force that ball underneath, it's stuff. Oh okay, cool,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: Ken says, No, I get. I'm just impressed by the design,
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: thank you. But also it's funny to that point, right,
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: we're slowing this down and breaking it down. Imagine trying
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: to read all that in real time if you're the quarterback,
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: like you're trying to see everything that's happening as pressure
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: is bearing down on you. Like man, footballs are a
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: hard sport. But thank you for that clarification, Ken, and
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: I'm glad you understood. I want to make sure everybody
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: has a clear I know there are some complexities in this,
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: but my aim is always to make the complex as
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: simple as possible. Yes, James, we do want Bonux Good
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: to be confused, so I want to make the complex
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: as simplest possible. So I appreciate that. All right, last
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: one fourth quarter, fifty nine seconds the game ender Trey
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: White PBu leading to a Cole Bishop interception. Man coverage
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: across the board, right man coverage. Okay, especially down here,
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: this is our hero on this play, mister Chavius White
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: lined up on Jacoby Myers. Myers is gonna run a dig. Okay. Uh.
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: Trey White talked about this after the game. You know,
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: he said he felt jacoim we're gonna show in the
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: play like he felt Jacoby Myers leaning into him. Usually
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: when that happens, dude's gonna break inside. Trey attaches to him.
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: He's in his hip pocket and in phase the entire
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: time on this play. But I also like to think
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: that they know Myers. The Jags digs Myers. Jags digs,
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: so Trey again right on him from the snap. We
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: are in press, not a true press because we're not jamming.
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: We are in a soft, soft shoe press. So it's
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: more we're gonna mirror on the snap. Similar to Bishop
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: on the very first play, we showed eyes on hips. Right,
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: he's leaning down. We're looking down. Gets that left arm
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: ond watch him attach. Okay, Now, this is where Trey
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: said it. He feels Jacoby leaning into him, and you can
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: see it right, he's leaning into his body a little bit.
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: Usually when those veteran receivers do that. They're leaning into
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: you because you're gonna try and snap that route off
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: inside and create some separation. Add that on top of
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: Myers's propensity of getting hit with digs from Trevor Lawrence
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: all day here, So Trey is on him, feeling him,
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: eyes still on the hips, he feels him turned completely
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: in phase, completely sticky, eyes are on the ball. He
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: sees it coming through, jumps in front, punches, through the hands,
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: ball goes right up into the air into the waiting
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: arms of mister Cole Bishop. That's scouting, that's tendency, that's
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: technique right from Trey White. That's veteran knowledge and experience,
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: the whole idea, like, oh, you know, I felt him
- 1:40:04Speaker 1: leaning into me. Usually when they lean, they're gonna snap
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: it off inside or snap it the other way. So
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: I would imagine they knew during the week, Hey man,
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: they like to throw dip, they like to throw the dig,
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: especially to Jacobe Myers. And then he's feeling him here,
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: he's watching the hips, he's got the lean, all of
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: that adding up to him kind of using the preparation,
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: the weekly stuff from an individual standpoint, from a team
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: standpoint and then his veteran knowledge nice real time all
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: over him. So sticky, great stuff. Now let us watch
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: the rest of the coverage aspect here, So three man
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: rush with an aggressive spy. What are we getting? Odd mirror?
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: And I mentioned before man coverage, man coverage. Milano has
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: Strange in man coverage, Dorian has Etn in man coverage.
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: You can see Strange and Etn are both given some
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: chip help, which is nice right on this snap because
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: granted there in man, but you've got one, two, three, four, five, six,
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: seven seven in protection for three against a heavy numbers
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: advantage for the Bills against three wide receivers. That's nice
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: for the Bills. So again, as we watch too, like,
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: let's watch the rest of the man coverage. Etn releases,
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: here's Dornian on him, Strange releases, here's Milana on him again.
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: Man coverage, man coverage. Now I've seen some people treat
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: this as like a cover one robber. We're gonna show here,
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: like watch Hancock and then watch Bishop Bishop drops down
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: here like a robber. But if you'll notice Hancock over here,
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: Hancock is in more of like a split field half
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: field two man type of safety alignment. I think what
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: we got here is, especially with Bishop's eyes, I think
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: he's poaching the backside. But others might see it as like, hey,
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: this is one robber and Hancock is still the one.
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: He's just shaded over the multi receiver side or the
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: Brian Thomas junior side. They don't want to get beat deep.
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: They recognize the speed that Brian Thomas has, so maybe
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: you want Jordan Hancock shade it over to that side.
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: Whatever the situation is, cool, fine, go ahead. So I've
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: seen some people label this as one robber. I think
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: it's two man. And then he's poaching, which is still
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: kind of almost like the same effect as Bishop being
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: a robber. But that's what puts Bishop in this position.
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: Bishop comes down here. Oh, I didn't mean for that
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: to go that fast. Let's watch Cole Bishop again this
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: near side bottom of the screen. Safety Look where his
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: eyes are. His eyes are immediately there again like he
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: is robbing, which essentially again he is, even if it's
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: a poach, he's essentially still robin this like here. But
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: you can see him kind of get with kind of
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: seeing what's going on. He sees how the route develops,
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: he gets his eyes. Now he's still like in his
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: like in his sink. He's still sinking. You can see
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: like how quickly Bishop is like ala la la la
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: lat right, Okay, reading everything. Oh, let me put my
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: foot in the ground and come forward, because he's still
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: reading the route distribution here. Now he looks in the
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: backfield and he sees Trevor Lawrence is letting that thing loose.
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: Puts his foot in the ground, comes forward and watch
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: him just slow play kind of seeing what's gonna happen.
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: And he's right in position for the tip. That's a
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: great job of reaction and finishing from cold Bishop, and
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: obviously a great tip by Trey White I saw. I
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: know some people have said, like, oh, Parker Washington was
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: like super wide open, Laurence should have hit him. So
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: Lawrence is already throwing the ball here. Okay, I'm not
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: saying people in the chat. I'm saying I've seen this
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: on social He's already throwing the ball here. Okay, Washington
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: hasn't even cleared coal Bishop yet. And on top of that,
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: one nice little piece that kind of goes under the radar.
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: Joey Bosa, right, he is pinballing his way through to
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: get pressure on Lawrence, dips inside the tight end, swipes
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: the hands of the left tackle, ricochets off the left guard.
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: Watch so again, here's the crown of his helmet. He's
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: already kind of coming through there. As soon as Lawrence
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: finishes this throw, Bosa gets him. And now just as
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: this right the ball is bent out, Bosa is hitting Lawrence.
- 1:44:48Speaker 1: Now Parker Washington clears Bishop. I don't think this is
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: as viable as it looks from a screenshop perspective. It's
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: just a great play by Trey White. And then again,
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: whatever you want to leave the coverage on the back,
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: if you want to say it's two man with a poach,
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: if you want to say it's cover one robber, whatever,
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: I'm focused on Trey. This is a great job from Trey.
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: Bang Again, either way, that poach from Bishop plays out
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: kind of like a robber a little bit, although if
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: it was a robber you would think he would kind
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: of come down. Again. My thoughts are and again, this
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: matchup based. It could be rule based, right. You could
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: sit there and think like, okay, they want to shade
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: the single high safety over the two receiver side or
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: the three eligible side because strangers over there as well,
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: even though he ends up chipping and then releasing. But
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: I would think, you know, the robber will come down
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: a little bit more and they need to have more
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: of a true post but teach their own. Again, it
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: could be match based, it could be rules based. I
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: can see you playing Devil's advocate. I could see it
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: on both sides. But either way, that poach from Bishop
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: or that robber action from Bishop is what puts him
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: in position. Great play from Trey game. And again right,
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: let's also talk about the coverage spin. What do we
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: have pre snap? We got two safeties, right, two safeties
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: and then all of a sudden we kind of have
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: some wonkiness again changing the pre to post snap picture.
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: This guy's in the coverage, all of this stuff that
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: we saw throughout this game, and like we've seen up
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: through a course through the course of this season. I'm
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: going to no, that's not what I wanted. That's what
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: I wanted. That's what I wanted. We're gonna move this
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: and now I'm back up. So good stuff from the
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills defense in this game. Again, I think there
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: are some concerns on the run game. You know, the
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: Bills are getting gassed, especially on perimeter runs. Some stuff
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: inside got them too, mainly some of the moved too
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: much and made the camera go blurry. There we go.
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: They were getting got with some split zone stuff from
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: an inside zone perspective as well. So the run defense
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: is still something that has to be cleaned up. I
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: don't think the run defense is going to be solid
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: anytime soon, even when they're against teams that don't run well.
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: The Jags are a not good running the football team.
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: They started out decent the first like I don't know,
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: like five to eight weeks, and then not only tapered
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: off down the stretch, but fell off a cliff down
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: the stretch as a running team, and they were able
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: to have some good gashes and some good chunks and
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: some good successful runs with their running backs both ETN
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: and then that stretch for Tooting where he had like
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: multiple explosive runs. The Bills gave up the most explosive
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: runs on the week again in the wildcard round well
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: as of yesterday before the Monday night game, they believe
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: it was seven. So that run defense is still gonna
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: be a concern. I don't think the Bill's defense played
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: you know, a phenomenal overall game, but when they needed
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: to have it, they had it, and they had some
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: cool coverage spins, some cool pre to post neat picture changes,
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: some cool blitzes and pressure looks kind of tying it
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: all together. Yes, great comment from Charles Bishop had a
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: huge touchdown saving tackle on ETN. Yeah, the Jags ended
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: up scoring on that drive. I think that was. That
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: was when I was twenty to seventeen, And yeah, the
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: Jags ended up scoring to go up twenty four to twenty,
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: but they I think it's before the pass interference call
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: or after I don't remember, or the holding call, that
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: phantom call or whatever on that third down. Was it
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: on Bedver Milana, We don't know, but yeah, that's a
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: great call. ETN leaks out of the backfield, the Bills
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: are in I believe the Bills are in Cover one,
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: and ETN gets away from Milano and Hancock is somewhere
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: else completely as and and ETN is coming to the
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: bottom of the screen and cuts up and Bishop makes
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: who I got almost like a shoe string tackle and
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: if not yet with ETN speed, it's probably a house
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: call to your points. Yeah, it was a huge, huge,
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: touchdown saving tackle. Really nice to see from cold Bishop.
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: But yeah, they're gonna have to bring it again this
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: week from a defensive standpoint. A lot of change in
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: the similar stuff to kind of Trevor Lawrence. But I
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: think Trevor Lawrence is better processor than bo Nicks. So again,
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: change the pre to post snap picture, confused, disguise attack
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: play on that front foot, bring some corner blitzes like
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: we showed, Bring some fire zone stuff, some sim some
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: creepers in addition, just the regular like single high to
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: too high, too high to single high, but then mixing in, yeah,
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: like are we playing palms? Is it true quarters or
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: playing man? Oh now it's covered two? Like are we
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: doing split field stuff where it was the palms to
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: one side and two man to the other. Just various
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: coverages they rotate in a bunch of stuff. They really
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: have done a lot of that since McDermott kind of
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: got involved more at halftime of the Atlanta game. And
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: we're seeing, you know, just some really creative stuff on
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: the back end. We'll see if they can get healthier
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: up front, continue to get some pressure and yeah, we'll
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: kind of see. Douglas says, what direction do you think
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: they go with defensive end for this week? Are I
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: don't think? Am I crazy? As nothing has anything changed
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: from an edge standpoint, from a health standpoint, I thought
- 1:49:48Speaker 1: it was it would still be group Bosa, Epanessa and
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: Andre Jones, Right, Am I crazy? Unless you're thinking like
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: maybe Solomon instead of Jones. Jones got sealed a couple
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: of time on the run against Jacoby Myers, which I
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: didn't like, and I don't know if Solomon's gonna help
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: you too much in that regard. Anyway, I guess I'd
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: probably just stick with Andre Jones. You can make a
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: case for Solomon. Maybe I don't love it. Either way,
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: it's not great, it's not ideal. But think my thinking
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: is they'll probably kind of stay with it as is,
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: and then if Ed is healthy, I would think Ed
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: would replace Fadarien Mathis, or maybe they go with five
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: defensive tackles just in case Ed goes but isn't really
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: able to go, and so they want to do five
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: defensive tackles just in case. You know, fair to your point,
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: I see what you say, that's what you said, yeah, fair, Yeah,
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: And then kind of seeing like okay, Ed's gonna play more.
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: I'm sure if he can go, so let's dress five
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: defensive tackles. Yeah, and then if you do that too,
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: you can have t J. Sanders play a little edge
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: if you need. I think that's kind of more of
- 1:50:48Speaker 1: the way to go to dress five defensive tackles and
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: then go from there. Messy, messy, messy MESSI Carl says,
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: what are your thoughts on the window being open for Oliver,
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: Harriston and Hamlin will Any We're all play in Denver.
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: I think that big Ed playing is the biggest which
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: could really help Joey and Greg Ed. Oliver is the
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: biggest one. If he's healthy and he can go, it's
- 1:51:05Speaker 1: a huge boost, not apparently potentially. I'm very excited for that. So, yeah,
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: that's huge for at Oliver. I think Kurtis Samuel's window
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: being open is really helpful as well, because all the
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: injuries are receiver Harston, I don't think he's gonna play.
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: He was a do not participate today. We'll see if
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: it gets better as the week goes on, but that
- 1:51:24Speaker 1: looked ugly a couple of weeks ago, and I don't
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: think he's gonna play for a while. And then Hamlin
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: I don't know. Man, He's reliable, but he's just so
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: limited in coverage and so limited athletically. I would rather
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: roll with Hancock than Hamlin, just because the explosion, the juice,
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: and maybe even putting some stuff on tape to see
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: what you need next year. I think they need more
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: of a true ballhawk and rangey type of dude at
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: safety with some hybrid potential to really maximize what Bishop
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: can be and just take this defense to the next level.
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: Hancock could maybe be that guy, but for right now,
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: I'd rather I'd rather roll with Hancock, Hamcock, come Bine,
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: Hamlin and Hancock one Hamcock. I would rather go with
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: Handcock over Hamlin, and I would take hambloo with over
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: Hamlin as well. But Man kind of not great overall.
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: Tough times. Tough times. Yes, go ahead all day, go
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: call Marcus. Appreciate you. Josh was saying, great segment today, Anthony,
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: appreciate you and you ever wonder if Bill's players watch
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: these It seemed as if Josh Hanna watched your segment
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: with Eric last week, which I wonder which segment you're
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: talking about in particular. I do wonder that every once
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: in a while, not necessarily for like my show or
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: this brand, but like, I wonder how many like players are, like, oh,
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: I got ten minutes of downtime. Let me see what
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: the podcasts are saying, because I wonder how much of
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: them listen to the radio or the internet versus social
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: versus podcasts, considering the day and age that we're in.
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: But I appreciate the can words the think very much.

- 1:56:18Speaker 1: when I'm by myself, as you know, because I think
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: it's corny to be like, oh, look at this pace
- 1:56:21Speaker 1: thing someone said about me. But I see it all.
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: I sincerely appreciate it all. I want to go back
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: from Joshua Oh saying the mitigating negative plays against the
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: Eagles one maybe Alan did. Who knows. He definitely played
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: within himself and made some awesome alien plays on top
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: of it, and he'll are against the Jackson. He'll need
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: to do that again against Denver because it going to
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: be a tough one in a variety of ways. So I

- 1:56:59Speaker 1: knows this. I'm bringing this comment up not because of
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: the kindness. Although I appreciate it, but yeah, if I
