  Speaker 3: Serene the Dirt.
• 1:50
Speaker 1: Buster, so I want to know how you got involved in this business.
• 1:55
  Speaker 3: Oh, my goodness.
• 1:58
Speaker 4: That's a long story and we don't have enough time for that, but I'll give you the short version.
• 2:00
Speaker 1: Well, let's do the short version.
• 2:01
Speaker 3: Yes, please, back in 2009,.
• 2:02
Speaker 3: Actually, I was 25 years old.
• 2:04
Speaker 3: I had gone to school to be an esthetician.
• 2:06
Speaker 3: I actually have an associate's degree for skin care.
• 2:10
Speaker 1: Your skin looks great, by the way.
• 2:11
  Speaker 3: Thanks, I'm 40.
• 2:12
Speaker 3: So I love it.
• 2:14
  Speaker 1: At least you're not, I'm 50.
• 2:16
Speaker 3: I'm 50 years old, you're not that, no, well, so we hit a recession.
• 2:20
Speaker 3: Obviously, we all remember that in 2008, 2009, I got let go of my job because I was low man on the totem pole.
• 2:25
Speaker 3: So I went okay, I'm gonna go clean cars.
• 2:27
Speaker 3: It's a recession-proof industry and I've been stuck in it ever since stuck in it, it's because I like it literally sucked me in I was like I love cars, like quicksand.
• 2:36
Speaker 1: It just kind of did well yeah, but there's a lot of satisfaction after you have a car that comes in and there's a job to do on it, whether it's paint correction or wrap or something oh yeah whatever it is, and then like it's like cutting the grass for me, get out there, cut no seriously I'm glad you enjoy that I do get out there, cut the grass, you know, edge it, blow it, do all the things and make it pretty and you stand back and you go dang.
• 3:03
  Speaker 1: That looks good.
• 3:03
Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a sense of pride in that.
• 3:06
Speaker 3: There is, and you know it's like.
• 3:07
Speaker 3: A lot of times John does hand off the older cars to me, like mine.
• 3:11
Speaker 3: Those are the ones I like, though, because it's like you see the transformation.
• 3:16
Speaker 3: It's like these new ones.
• 3:18
Speaker 3: Yes, they get a much better glimmer and they look really shiny, but it's like you don't see from okay, it was used, abused, put away, you know, ridden hard and put away wet to now it looks like, hey, somebody actually loved it, yeah well, it's funny.
• 3:31
Speaker 1: Uh, you know, we just got off the uh hot rod tour of texas and so there were 350 cars on this tour that we did.
• 3:40
Speaker 3: Uh, jeff went, well, we all went all of us and you don't invite me well, you're always welcome to come with any of these you have my phone number, just send it to me alright, well, let's see.
• 3:50
Speaker 1: Next Saturday we're going to be at Tailpipes and Tacos and Katie and network some new business there you go, but at any rate I got more compliments.
• 4:00
Speaker 1: Man, that's what year is that?
• 4:03
  Speaker 1: I said it's 2001.
• 4:04
Speaker 1: Dang, and how many miles you got on it.
• 4:06
  Speaker 1: Now I've got 33,000.
• 4:08
Speaker 1: Man, that's what year is that?
• 4:09
  Speaker 1: I said it's 2001.
• 4:10
Speaker 1: Dang, and how many miles you got on it.
• 4:12
Speaker 1: Now I've got 33,000 miles on it.
• 4:14
Speaker 1: Oh geez, I know it's terrible, but the car does look very good.
• 4:16
Speaker 1: Of course it does.
• 4:17
Speaker 1: You can put it up against any other 2001 out there and I'd win.
• 4:20
Speaker 1: You can put it up against a lot newer cars too.
• 4:21
Speaker 1: Well, there's that, yeah, so it's pristine.
• 4:23
Speaker 1: I did get rid of those terrible seats in there.
• 4:25
Speaker 1: Good and I got me some Corbeau seats in there.
• 4:27
Speaker 3: Does it actually slide forward enough so I can push the clutch in?
• 4:29
Speaker 1: without having to lay down I think so Okay, I have not tried that, because I got it all the way back, yeah.
• 4:36
Speaker 3: Every time I drive that thing I'm like I have to scoot it as far forward as it goes and then still be like, okay, okay, I got the clutch.
• 4:43
  Speaker 4: I got this.
• 4:43
Speaker 4: Get some two or four extensions on the bottom of your shoes.
• 4:46
Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly, that's exactly it.
• 4:47
  Speaker 3: I'm 5'5".
• 4:48
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I got short legs.
• 4:50
Speaker 1: That, but yeah, and so after John hired you, John married me to you.
• 4:58
Speaker 1: She's going to do your car.
• 5:00
  Speaker 4: Great.
• 5:01
Speaker 1: And I go and it's absolutely pristine.
• 5:07
Speaker 3: I remember the hug.
• 5:07
Speaker 3: He literally was like a giddy little girl.
• 5:08
Speaker 3: He would, and he hugged me all the time.
• 5:11
Speaker 3: I was like all right come here, dog.
• 5:13
Speaker 1: Yeah, see him on a frog I would imagine not that many clients.
• 5:18
Speaker 1: That mean they appreciate your work but they don't give you a hug like I do no dog.
• 5:22
  Speaker 3: Dog loves me.
• 5:22
Speaker 3: I do, I do and I appreciate her expertise and her work.
• 5:27
Speaker 1: If you ever want a detailed job like no other, there's your gal right there.
• 5:33
Speaker 3: I consider myself to be a paint correction specialist.
• 5:36
Speaker 3: You are Not just a detailer.
• 5:37
Speaker 3: When I tell people I'm a detailer, oh, can you shampoo my carpets?
• 5:40
Speaker 3: No, I'm not touching your minivan.
• 5:43
Speaker 1: No, there you go, david.
• 5:44
Speaker 1: She's not touching your minivan, she's not shampooing carpets.
• 5:48
  Speaker 3: I don't do minivans.
• 5:49
Speaker 1: And she doesn't do minivans.
• 5:51
  Speaker 3: I don't do minivans.
• 5:52
Speaker 1: She's been in minivans, but she yeah.
• 5:55
Speaker 3: I was about four last time I was in a minivan.
• 5:58
  Speaker 3: There's that, yeah.
• 5:58
Speaker 3: So what are you currently working on?
• 6:08
Speaker 3: Oh, let's see Currently we've got this GMC over here that we're doing a heel light ceramic coating on a heel light.
• 6:10
Speaker 3: It's a our top of the line ceramic coating.
• 6:12
Speaker 3: So the heel light by fine lab actually has a heel ability to it.
• 6:16
Speaker 3: So the ceramic coating when it goes on, you lay the first layer of the heel light.
• 6:19
Speaker 3: You lay on a leveling aid, so kind of like a self-leveling concrete.
• 6:22
Speaker 3: You lay on a leveling aid, so kind of like a self-leveling concrete.
• 6:25
Speaker 3: When you put that leveling aid on, it levels out that base layer of the heel light.
• 6:29
Speaker 3: So it reacts a lot like our PPF.
• 6:30
Speaker 3: So minor wash scratches, light stuff.
• 6:33
Speaker 3: Obviously if somebody comes by and keys your car it's not going to help you.
• 6:36
Speaker 3: But you put it out in the sun, let it heat up to I think it's about don't quote me on this around about 145 degrees and the minor scratches will actually heal themselves back together.
• 6:46
Speaker 2: Yeah, like a gel.
• 6:47
Speaker 2: Basically Is it liquid.
• 6:50
Speaker 3: Well, yes, it is a liquid that we do apply the Ceramico.
• 6:52
Speaker 3: So we apply it to a pad, put it onto each panel.
• 6:55
Speaker 3: Then you put your leveling aid on, you go back and you dry, buff it off with a microfiber cloth.
• 7:01
Speaker 1: Okay, I mean, can you see where it is and where you've put it?
• 7:05
Speaker 3: You can't you just got to, just it is clear.
• 7:08
Speaker 1: It's not like you know, mother's hard wax it completely eliminates the need to ever wax again.
• 7:13
  Speaker 1: I see.
• 7:15
Speaker 3: Because once you have a ceramic coat on your car, you don't want to wax it.
• 7:18
Speaker 3: The mechanical abrasion will actually break down your coating quicker.
• 7:22
Speaker 3: So if you're going to wax any sort of ceramic coating, you get a spray wax.
• 7:31
Speaker 3: You get a detailer spray, a ceramic boost, something that's a spray, a light wipe.
• 7:32
  Speaker 3: None of that.
• 7:33
Speaker 3: You know turtle wax paste crap from you.
• 7:34
Speaker 4: Know the 90s that I did my 91 Thunderbird with.
• 7:37
  Speaker 3: The 90s.
• 7:38
  Speaker 1: My 91 Thunderbird.
• 7:40
Speaker 1: I go back to the 60s baby.
• 7:45
Speaker 3: Okay, well, it went out the door in the 90s.
• 7:47
Speaker 1: We'll put it that way Somebody finally threw it in the trash can.
• 7:49
Speaker 1: Well, I, for lack of you know let me put it this way the easiness of going to the store and getting some mother's detailing spray.
• 7:59
Speaker 3: Yes, that works, it does, it does.
• 8:01
Speaker 3: And you know, actually, meguiar's has a really nice ceramic boost spray that I love.
• 8:06
Speaker 3: It comes in like a lime green bottle and it's called ceramic boost.
• 8:09
  Speaker 1: Yes, it's a ceramic boost.
• 8:10
Speaker 1: Is that what it's called?
• 8:11
Speaker 3: Yeah, I would have to look it up.
• 8:13
Speaker 3: But yes, it's something, something, something something.
• 8:16
Speaker 3: Meguiar's ceramic boost, gotcha.
• 8:17
Speaker 3: But yes, yeah, I love the stuff.
• 8:20
Speaker 3: It stays really hydrophobic for a good period of time.
• 8:24
  Speaker 3: I like that.
• 8:24
Speaker 3: Meguiar's Gold Car Wash.
• 8:26
Speaker 3: Oh, dude, that's what we use, is it?
• 8:27
Speaker 3: That is what we use here?
• 8:28
Speaker 1: yes, it's great stuff it is and it doesn't take a lot and it's really thick.
• 8:39
Speaker 3: So you can put it in your foam cannon and it just I mean it just snow, all yeah.
• 8:43
Speaker 1: Well, it works for me and I've got one of those big wash mitts that I can dip in the bucket.
• 8:47
Speaker 1: That's got the grate in the bottom of it.
• 8:48
Speaker 3: Don't put your hand inside the mitt.
• 8:50
  Speaker 3: I don't actually that's an amateur move.
• 8:52
Speaker 3: Please don't do that.
• 8:53
Speaker 3: I know I don't do that, thank you, thank you Well, my hand generally doesn't fit in there.
• 9:05
Speaker 3: But it works really well, it does, it does.
• 9:06
Speaker 3: I love that stuff, you know, and we, because we use the three bucket method.
• 9:08
Speaker 3: So we've got, um, our soap bucket, water bucket and then, like a whatever, it's another lighter bucket of soap, but yeah, so you can actually rinse off your mitt and then you stick it back in the soap.
• 9:17
Speaker 3: So that way you're not taking any dirt that's from the car, you take it into the water bucket rinse it off with your grit guard down there and so that way you go, go back to the soap so you've got a clean, fresh mitt.
• 9:25
Speaker 3: So you're not if you catch a bug while you're scrubbing the front end, you're not taking that bug and then wiping it all over.
• 9:31
  Speaker 3: And if it's a bean, he's got a stinger.
• 9:32
Speaker 3: Well, now you're scratching your car.
• 9:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, so Very interesting.
• 9:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, all right After today's.
• 9:40
Speaker 1: Well, you don't work here generally on Saturdays, do you?
• 9:43
Speaker 3: No, I'm usually here six days a week.
• 9:45
  Speaker 1: Are you?
• 9:46
  Speaker 3: I am.
• 9:46
Speaker 3: I always try to tell myself every three weeks I'll take a Saturday off.
• 9:50
  Speaker 3: It doesn't happen.
• 9:51
Speaker 4: There's always something like this coming up, and this is the third week.
• 9:55
Speaker 3: This is probably week number six or seven of being here on a Saturday.
• 9:58
Speaker 3: I live and breathe Gulf Coast Auto Shield.
• 10:01
Speaker 1: So I might as well just set up a cot back here.
• 10:03
Speaker 1: I hope that you, that you live fairly close I live in richmond that's not very close it's not.
• 10:09
Speaker 3: It's about a 45 minute drive yeah wow.
• 10:11
Speaker 3: And then if I, because so lately I've been over at the west shop over off of i-10- and britmore right, uh, we've got a lot of you know work for the ceramic coating picking up over there, so I've been doing a lot of stuff over there because obviously I'm trusted to go and do it on my own I don't need to be supervised.
• 10:26
Speaker 3: But from my house to there is a lot of times it's about an hour hour 15 drive yeah.
• 10:33
Speaker 1: It's crazy, yeah, it is.
• 10:34
Speaker 1: I can only imagine what's your favorite car of all these cars that are here.
• 10:39
  Speaker 3: That's here.
• 10:40
Speaker 1: Well that you have worked on in the past year.
• 10:42
Speaker 1: What's your favorite one look look, he's out there he's out there pointing the f-250 that john ray if he gets me a raise.
• 10:53
Speaker 3: I'll say it yeah, exactly um, to be honest, it's gonna be the older porsches really it's like that red one back there that one back there.
• 11:03
Speaker 3: I mean, oh, the first day that thing showed up I was a giddy little school girl.
• 11:06
Speaker 3: I was was like can I drive it, please, please?
• 11:08
Speaker 3: I mean I don't know the new cars, they just don't do it for me.
• 11:12
Speaker 3: My dream car is a 1970 Cuda.
• 11:14
  Speaker 1: In.
• 11:14
  Speaker 3: Plum Crazy Purple.
• 11:15
Speaker 3: Do you know the story behind Plum Crazy Purple and the way it got its name?
• 11:20
Speaker 2: They just ran some through Mecham just this past week.
• 11:23
Speaker 1: Well, John's got one out there at the Hemi.
• 11:24
  Speaker 3: Hideout.
• 11:25
Speaker 1: Have you ever been to the Hemi Hideout?
• 11:27
  Speaker 3: I have not.
• 11:28
Speaker 1: What we okay, I'm going to go with this next time we go.
• 11:31
Speaker 3: I've only lived in Houston since 2018.
• 11:33
Speaker 1: Okay, Well, the Hemi Hideout, how long is it About?
• 11:39
  Speaker 3: 10.
• 11:39
Speaker 3: 10 years or so, anyway.
• 11:41
Speaker 1: Yeah, next time we go, you go with us.
• 11:45
Speaker 1: Okay, okay, let me know and you're going to freak out.
• 11:48
Speaker 1: Bring a friend whoever you want, or come by yourself, we don't care.
• 11:52
  Speaker 3: I don't need friends.
• 11:53
Speaker 3: Well, you have them right here.
• 11:55
  Speaker 3: You have us.
• 11:55
Speaker 3: They're all living up here, we're good.
• 11:58
  Speaker 4: That's it.
• 11:58
Speaker 4: The whole gang comes.
• 11:59
Speaker 1: every time I will tell you that it truly is an amazing place and for somebody that is an older car aficionado like yourself, you will love it.
• 12:09
Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, yeah Plum.
• 12:10
Speaker 4: Crazy Cuda Convertible yes, white interior.
• 12:13
Speaker 3: Do you know that the original name of Plum Crazy Purple was actually Statutory Grape?
• 12:18
  Speaker 1: Was it really?
• 12:23
Speaker 3: It straight up was but they denied the name so the guy changed it to Plum Crazy Purple.
• 12:27
Speaker 3: So if I ever actually had a Cuda in Plum Crazy Purple, its name would be Statutory Grape.
• 12:32
Speaker 1: Gotcha actually had a cuda in plum crazy purple.
• 12:34
Speaker 3: Its name would be statutory grape, gotcha well you know we have a friend of ours that makes his own that makes his own paint colors, does he?
• 12:37
Speaker 4: uh-huh uh randy, borcheting out at paint house and I'm sure that he could make you a statutory great yeah, he could just a little bit my wrangler for me.
• 12:45
Speaker 3: I've got an idea for that thing.
• 12:49
  Speaker 1: We have connections.
• 12:50
Speaker 1: So yeah, as you can imagine Well, are you just doing the meet and greet today.
• 12:57
Speaker 3: For the most part.
• 12:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think we got like two cars leaving today, which I mean I stuck around last night till about 8.30, got them coated, cleaned, just so I didn't have to do that today, so I can actually just hang out and, like you know, meet and greet, talk to people and actually just do what Siri does, one of the most amazing things about this place is the fact that all of the cars get to be brought in and somehow, some way, they all get in here and they fit but the trick is getting them out once.
• 13:29
Speaker 1: They're all in here because they are door handle to door handle bumper to bumper.
• 13:32
Speaker 3: Most of these guys hate it when I'm the one who does it, because I'm really good at Tetris and I'm this big and the rest of them are not, so I literally.
• 13:40
Speaker 3: I roll down windows and I squeeze through and they're like they're looking at it going.
• 13:45
Speaker 3: I can't even get back in there to try to move it Serene and I'm like I got it Watch out.
• 13:50
Speaker 1: Yes, but maneuvering them around things that are in here is a trick.
• 13:55
  Speaker 3: It really is.
• 13:56
Speaker 3: I've watched customers you know I'll be going to back something out from up here and I have to just serpentine it all the way out and I mean customers are sitting there filming because they're scared.
• 14:05
Speaker 3: They're like, oh my gosh, is she going to wreck it?
• 14:06
Speaker 3: I need this for the insurance company.
• 14:08
Speaker 3: And I swear that's what they're thinking and it's like every time, it's like we always have spotters.
• 14:12
Speaker 3: That is one thing I have with all my detailers who have come in.
• 14:15
Speaker 3: I mean because obviously I don't train the PPF guys, I don't train with you know, tint, but it's like all of my guys know if something.
• 14:28
  Speaker 3: Why?
• 14:28
Speaker 3: Why, if you've got somebody who has two seconds?
• 14:30
Speaker 3: To jump up and go.
• 14:31
Speaker 3: Hey, hey, okay, you're good move, it's just safety.
• 14:35
Speaker 4: It's easier it is.
• 14:36
Speaker 1: It really is Well, we appreciate what you do here.
• 14:38
Speaker 4: Well, thank you I appreciate you guys.
• 14:45
Speaker 1: I love it when you guys show up Do you?
• 14:46
  Speaker 3: I actually do.
• 14:47
Speaker 3: It's the loonie, obviously, I'm off wandering around.
• 14:50
  Speaker 1: That's right, exactly.
• 14:52
Speaker 1: Serene Peas with Gulf Coast Auto Shield Serene.
• 14:56
  Speaker 3: World Peas.
• 14:56
Speaker 3: That's what John says.
• 14:58
Speaker 3: World Peas, that's my middle name.
• 14:59
Speaker 3: I like it World Serene, world Peas.
• 15:02
  Speaker 1: Absolutely Well.
• 15:03
  Speaker 1: Thank you, honey.
• 15:05
Speaker 3: We appreciate you guys.
• 15:06
Speaker 1: Okay, time now for a quick break here on the In Wheel Time Car Talk Show.

• 18:06
Speaker 1: Yes, I love that place, I love the race.
• 18:08
Speaker 2: Been there once but there wasn't a race going on.
• 18:11
Speaker 2: Took a tour, all that stuff back in the day.
• 18:13
Speaker 2: But yesterday they had the gates open, they did the practice.
• 18:16
Speaker 2: They had the qualification drawing yesterday way up until like 7 pm and then today the gates opened at 8 am.
• 18:27
Speaker 2: They go till 6 pm.
• 18:28
Speaker 2: They've got the grandstands, parking, all that good stuff, They've got shuttles.
• 18:31
Speaker 2: Practice field is full and that's subject to change on the time, but they're generally running, like right now, at 8.30 to 10.30.
• 18:37
Speaker 2: Then they've got the Firestone Distribution.
• 18:40
  Speaker 2: Pagoda Plaza event.
• 18:44
Speaker 3: That's what it says.
• 18:45
Speaker 2: And then this afternoon they've got the qualifying positions 1 through 30.
• 18:49
Speaker 2: And then this afternoon they've got the qualifying positions 1 through 30.
• 18:51
Speaker 2: Tomorrow gates open again early.
• 18:52
Speaker 2: And then they've got practice, practice, practice, practice, and then throughout the week they're going to have more time trials and they're going to set the full field by the 500.
• 19:01
Speaker 2: Now, the 500, we'll talk more about that next week, but it's going to be a good event.
• 19:04
Speaker 2: I've got my favorite driver, my favorite team, so we'll talk about that next time.
• 19:11
Speaker 2: You ever been to the Indy 500?
• 19:12
Speaker 1: Not the 500, but I've been on a tour through the facility, I would say whether you're a motorsports fan or not, it doesn't make any difference what kind of motorsports fan you are.
• 19:21
Speaker 1: That is the one thing that I would recommend to every human being on the face of the scene, because there is absolutely nothing like it.
• 19:29
Speaker 1: It's the center of the universe for motorsports.
• 19:32
Speaker 1: If you've ever been to a NASCAR race or a drag race, any kind of professional autosport, there is nothing like the Indy 500.
• 19:40
Speaker 2: I agree, the greatest spectacle in racing that's what it is, and that's what it is Penske owned.
• 19:44
Speaker 1: And to be part of that and be one of the half billion people that are there is truly amazing.
• 19:50
  Speaker 1: I've got a follow-up story for you.
• 19:51
Speaker 1: Indy 500, one of the most iconic racing spectacles on the globe, on the motorsports calendar holds a distinction this year.
• 19:58
Speaker 1: It's set to be the last time the open-wheel cars run without hybrid power at the two-and-a-half-mile track, which is actually known as the Brickyard Yep.
• 20:10
Speaker 1: At the two and a half mile track affectionately known as the Brickyard Yep.
• 20:12
Speaker 1: That's because the NTT IndyCar Series plans to debut a 2.2 liter twin turbocharged V6 engine with hybrid technology at the Honda Indy 200 at the Mid-Ohio course in Lexington, Ohio, in July.
• 20:28
Speaker 1: Now think about this A V6 that is 2.2 liters in displacement.
• 20:36
Speaker 3: That's a itty bitty, teeny, weeny little engine.
• 20:41
Speaker 2: That screams, that screams.
• 20:44
Speaker 1: What at 10,000 RPM or something?
• 20:45
Speaker 1: Stupid Something like that yeah, the timing puts the Indy 500 by far the biggest race of the season and the league at a crossroads of sorts.
• 20:52
Speaker 1: Indycar's hybrid era is a long time coming, and it also reflects the changing motorsports landscape, as automakers, including the pair that participate in the series, chevrolet and honda grapple with the costs associated with fast-moving electrification and hybridization plans and consumer preferences, as you can imagine.
• 21:17
Speaker 2: You know, the F1s are hybrid yes.
• 21:20
Speaker 1: Currently yeah, yep, indycar has said the hybrid system it plans to use is made up of a 48-volt motor generator unit and an energy storage system of 20 ultra-capacitors inside of the Bell housing.
• 21:35
Speaker 1: Hmm inside the bell housing.
• 21:37
  Speaker 1: Indycar said.
• 21:40
Speaker 1: The added power provides up to an extra 120 horsepower, so race cars will have over 800 horsepower for the first time in two decades.
• 21:50
Speaker 1: So more power, more power is good.
• 21:53
Speaker 1: More power is always good.
• 21:55
Speaker 1: Anyway, there's more to the story, but then you can go to uh, you can go tonewscom for the complete story.
• 22:02
Speaker 1: But I think it's pretty cool myself, and if you've been keeping up with the electrification and EVs and all that stuff, all of the manufacturers are backing down from full EVs and now, even though they didn't have plans, now have plans for hybrids and I think, personally, the way to go today, in our little generation, in our era, is a hybrid.
• 22:29
  Speaker 1: I agree.
• 22:29
Speaker 1: I agree Because it adds the power and it adds the gas mileage.
• 22:36
Speaker 2: And, in a way, you're saving the planet.
• 22:38
Speaker 1: That Maverick that Mars drove and that he reviewed earlier this hour.
• 22:41
Speaker 1: Uh, I'm driving it now, as I mentioned, but it is a hybrid and average miles per gallon 37 miles per gallon yeah, who can beat that?
• 22:51
Speaker 1: And you don't have to spend three and a half hours looking for a stupid working fast charging station and having to find one at spencer highway and passa get down dina on a saturday uh sorry, on a weekday afternoon behind a chase bank drive-through.
• 23:15
Speaker 4: Oh boy, what it just that this doesn't work for me, pull, pull your stocking cap over One of the things that when I was driving it that I noticed and it makes sense, and I guess I should have noticed it before, but I was driving it long enough that I was watching the distance to empty because I wanted to make sure I had enough fuel in it and it would climb With what?
• 23:36
Speaker 4: For the gas, you know?
• 23:37
Speaker 4: For the Maverick, yeah, okay.
• 23:40
Speaker 4: For the gas, you know.
• 23:44
  Speaker 4: For the?
• 23:44
Speaker 4: For the maverick, yeah, okay.
• 23:45
Speaker 4: And the range that I could go was climbing as the battery got charged.
• 23:47
Speaker 4: From driving it on the gasoline motor, you know, I picked up like almost eight miles of range for the the week that I drove it by the end of the week and I thought that was kind of neat yeah, yeah, and I'll give you a preview of my review of that thing.
• 24:01
Speaker 1: I love it Very good, I do.
• 24:03
Speaker 1: I think that it's the way to go.
• 24:06
Speaker 1: If you're looking for now, this is not a full size.
• 24:10
Speaker 1: Matter of fact, this is a subcompact pickup truck, so the bed is small and the back seat in the crew cab.
• 24:19
Speaker 1: That's all they make of it.
• 24:21
Speaker 1: It's a little tight in the legroom, but you can get four or five people in there if you have to.
• 24:27
Speaker 1: But I think that if you're just looking for a pickup truck, for instance, like the pool guy or the pest control guy perfect, absolutely perfect.
• 24:38
Speaker 1: They're still driving those old Rangers from way back, right?
• 24:40
Speaker 2: You see them every now and then.
• 24:41
  Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
• 24:41
Speaker 1: And some of them, some of them, you can tell they've really put money, time and effort in keeping them running.
• 24:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, they, I saw one, the other day.
• 24:49
Speaker 4: They look brand new.
• 24:50
Speaker 1: Well, I know they look brand new.
• 24:51
Speaker 1: The paint had been all polished up and the guy you could tell he took care of it.
• 24:55
Speaker 1: Yeah, Interesting, Interesting, Cool.
• 24:58
Speaker 1: And one other story I wanted to get in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, NHTSA, is again warning consumers I did not know that this was a thing not to use or buy aftermarket steering wheel decals.
• 25:12
Speaker 1: What After learning of another driver who suffered severe injuries from the decorative emblem during a crash the decorative emblem during a crash.
• 25:20
Speaker 1: The driver was involved in a crash in which the airbag deployed and sent two pieces of a metal aftermarket decal with rhinestones into the person's face and neck.
• 25:29
Speaker 1: NHTSA is aware of at least one other driver who suffered a severe injury from an aftermarket steering wheel decal in a vehicle crash.
• 25:36
Speaker 1: In that case the driver lost sight in one eye after the rhinestone adorned decal dislodged from the steering wheel and hit the driver in the face.
• 25:46
Speaker 4: Wow, they don't see half of it now, what do they call that when you put the rhinestones on your clothes?
• 25:50
Speaker 4: Don Bedazzled Yep, somebody bedazzled their dash Sticker.
• 25:54
Speaker 2: I was thinking like a Hello Kitty sticker.
• 25:55
Speaker 2: Yeah, paper cut yeah.
• 25:57
Speaker 1: Notice who knows all of the verbiage and technology of all of this stuff.
• 26:01
Speaker 1: They do this end of the table but they're throwing it my way.
• 26:04
Speaker 1: I ain't got nothing to do with any of that.
• 26:09
Speaker 2: Needs you brought up to speed?
• 26:11
Speaker 1: No, not in that regard.
• 26:12
Speaker 1: I'll keep my bedazzled stickers off the steering wheel.
• 26:19
Speaker 1: I'll bedazzle my jeans when I get out of here, Honda Motor Company recalling 187,290.1 Ridgeline pickups in the US because of an issue with the rearview camera.
• 26:29
Speaker 1: 2020 to 2024 Honda Ridgeline model years.
• 26:34
Speaker 1: Because repeated opening of the tailgate in the presence of freezing temperatures and salt Rearview camera taillight harness may break, resulting in a failure to produce a rearview camera image.
• 26:45
Speaker 1: Owner notification letters are expected to be sent on July the 1st, so keep that in mind.
• 26:54
Speaker 1: If you're one of those owners 2020 to 2024 Honda Ridgeline model years.
• 27:00
Speaker 1: And, of course, we always tell you at least once every six weeks, eight weeks, whatever you think about it, go online, go to safercargov or the NHTSA website, type in your VIN number and they'll tell you whether you've got a recall on your car or if it's an open recall that maybe you bought a car that needs a recall and it hasn't been completed yet.
• 27:25
Speaker 1: Take care of it.
• 27:26
  Speaker 3: Yeah, do that.
