- 0:01Speaker 1: All through the Bible, there are verses that reference something
- 0:04Speaker 1: called the Book of Life. Now we know that this
- 0:09Speaker 1: book is incredibly important because Revelation twenty and twenty one
- 0:15Speaker 1: tells us that at the end of time, those whose
- 0:17Speaker 1: names are written in this book will spend eternity with God,
- 0:22Speaker 1: but those whose names are not written there will spend
- 0:25Speaker 1: eternity in the Lake of fire. But there's a lot
- 0:29Speaker 1: of confusion over just how a name gets written in
- 0:32Speaker 1: this book and whether or not a name can actually
- 0:35Speaker 1: be erased. So, since the people whose names are written
- 0:42Speaker 1: in the Book of Life end up with God for eternity,
- 0:45Speaker 1: and those who are not end up in hell, it
- 0:48Speaker 1: seems like the writing of these names is tied to
- 0:51Speaker 1: one's faith in Jesus Christ is their savior. Right, Romans
- 0:56Speaker 1: tells us that though we are sinners and deserve eternal
- 1:00Speaker 1: hell for our sin, Christ died in our place and
- 1:04Speaker 1: we can be saved from that destiny by faith in
- 1:06Speaker 1: the Lord Jesus. So the obvious assumption to make is
- 1:10Speaker 1: that no one's name is written in the Book of
- 1:12Speaker 1: Life until they believe and accept the atoning work of
- 1:16Speaker 1: Jesus Christ for their sin. At the moment they place
- 1:20Speaker 1: their faith in Christ, they are saved from eternal damnation
- 1:24Speaker 1: and their name would be written in the Book of Life. Right.
- 1:28Speaker 1: But here's the problem. The Bible teaches very clearly that
- 1:32Speaker 1: once someone has placed their faith in the death and
- 1:35Speaker 1: resurrection of Christ for their eternal salvation, they cannot ever
- 1:39Speaker 1: lose that salvation. The Bible calls this the everlasting covenant,
- 1:44Speaker 1: a covenant said to be between God the Father and
- 1:48Speaker 1: God the Son. The Bible tells us that the Father
- 1:51Speaker 1: has guaranteed the Son that all who come to him
- 1:54Speaker 1: by faith will be saved. So salvation clearly isn't something
- 1:59Speaker 1: that I can lose if I sin badly, because it's
- 2:02Speaker 1: not based on my actions. It's not a covenant between
- 2:06Speaker 1: God and me. It's a covenant between God and God himself,
- 2:11Speaker 1: and it can never be broken. It's an everlasting covenant.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Jesus said that those who are saved are in His
- 2:19Speaker 1: hand and in the Father's hand, and they cannot be
- 2:23Speaker 1: taken out. So if you've placed your faith in the
- 2:27Speaker 1: person of Jesus Christ for your salvation, you cannot ever
- 2:30Speaker 1: lose that salvation and end up in hell. You are
- 2:33Speaker 1: guaranteed a home in heaven. But If this is the case,
- 2:38Speaker 1: why does the Bible speak so often about a name
- 2:42Speaker 1: being blotted out of the book of Life. In Psalm
- 2:46Speaker 1: sixty nine, a psalm which prophesies the prayer of Christ
- 2:49Speaker 1: from the Cross, the Bible speaks of those who crucified Christ, saying,
- 2:54Speaker 1: let them be blotted out of the Book of the
- 2:57Speaker 1: Living and not be written with the righteous. In Exodus
- 3:02Speaker 1: thirty two, when Moses speaks to God to beg him
- 3:05Speaker 1: to spare the Israelites after they've turned from him and
- 3:08Speaker 1: made a golden calf to worship. Instead of worshiping as
- 3:11Speaker 1: God instructed, Moses prays asking God to blot his own
- 3:16Speaker 1: name out of God's book if God will not forgive
- 3:21Speaker 1: the sins of the nation. Of course, God refuses this
- 3:25Speaker 1: request because that is not how names are written or
- 3:28Speaker 1: blotted out of the Book of Life. But he does
- 3:31Speaker 1: respond by saying, whosoever hath sinned against me him, will
- 3:37Speaker 1: I blot out of my book? So how can names
- 3:41Speaker 1: be written in the Book of Life and then blotted
- 3:44Speaker 1: out if those who are saved cannot lose their salvation. Well,
- 3:50Speaker 1: we can't be sure how it all works. We just
- 3:53Speaker 1: trust that somehow it does work. Because God said so.
- 3:56Speaker 1: But I'd like to offer a theory as one possible
- 3:59Speaker 1: ex explanation for how names are written in and blotted
- 4:03Speaker 1: out of the Book of Life. What if the Book
- 4:06Speaker 1: of Life is the book of names of those who
- 4:09Speaker 1: are allies? I mean, what if as soon as anyone
- 4:14Speaker 1: comes into existence in their mother's womb, their name is
- 4:18Speaker 1: immediately written in the Book of Life. Several weeks ago,
- 4:23Speaker 1: I did a video on do Babies Go to Heaven?
- 4:26Speaker 1: And I explained how those without a conscience or an
- 4:28Speaker 1: ability to understand the concept of a creator God can
- 4:32Speaker 1: go to heaven even though they've never accepted Christ by faith.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I'm not going to take the time to explain it
- 4:38Speaker 1: all again in this video, but you can check out
- 4:40Speaker 1: that video if you're curious as to the scripture that
- 4:43Speaker 1: supports this perspective, I'll link to it in the description. Anyway,
- 4:48Speaker 1: this theory works well with that because it would mean
- 4:51Speaker 1: that those who die before they can comprehend God and
- 4:54Speaker 1: their sin against Him would still be written in the
- 4:57Speaker 1: Book of Life and would go to heaven. But according
- 5:01Speaker 1: to this theory, when would someone's name be blotted out
- 5:05Speaker 1: of the book. Well, God told Moses that anyone who
- 5:10Speaker 1: sinned would have their names blotted out. So I would
- 5:13Speaker 1: theorize that everyone's name is written in the Book of
- 5:16Speaker 1: Life from the moment of their conception and coming into existence,
- 5:21Speaker 1: but then their names are blotted out of the book
- 5:24Speaker 1: when they sin because they are no longer alive Spiritually.
- 5:29Speaker 1: The Bible says that those who are headed to Hell
- 5:32Speaker 1: may have living bodies, but spiritually they are dead in
- 5:36Speaker 1: their trespasses and sins and headed to eternal death in Hell. Then,
- 5:42Speaker 1: when a spiritually dead sinner whose name has been blotted
- 5:46Speaker 1: out of the Book of Life finds new life in Christ,
- 5:49Speaker 1: the Bible says that he is born again. My theory
- 5:54Speaker 1: is that with this new birth in Christ, he also
- 5:57Speaker 1: receives his name written once again in the Book of Life,
- 6:01Speaker 1: this time never to be blotted out. So, for example,
- 6:06Speaker 1: I would say that at the beginning of my life,
- 6:08Speaker 1: my name was written in the Book of Life. When
- 6:11Speaker 1: I committed my first sin against God, my name was
- 6:15Speaker 1: blotted out. But when I placed my faith in Christ,
- 6:19Speaker 1: my name was written there again, this time never to
- 6:23Speaker 1: be raised ever again. But there is one puzzling verse
- 6:27Speaker 1: that I'll admit seems to contradict my theory. Revelation seventeen
- 6:32Speaker 1: eight speaks of the unbelievers that are on the earth
- 6:34Speaker 1: during the tribulation period, saying that their names were not
- 6:38Speaker 1: written in the Book of Life from the foundation of
- 6:41Speaker 1: the world. How can it be that unbelievers names are
- 6:46Speaker 1: not written from the beginning of time? But yet God
- 6:49Speaker 1: tells us in Exodus thirty two and again in Revelation
- 6:52Speaker 1: twenty two that sinner's names are blotted out. Well, I
- 6:58Speaker 1: think the answer is pretty simple. When the Bible says
- 7:01Speaker 1: that something happened from the foundation of the world, is
- 7:05Speaker 1: not necessarily speaking about this from man's linear perspective. Remember
- 7:10Speaker 1: that God exists outside of time. He is eternal. Revelation
- 7:16Speaker 1: thirteen eight speaks about Jesus as pictured by a Lamb,
- 7:19Speaker 1: slain from the foundation of the world. From our perspective,
- 7:24Speaker 1: Jesus was killed around thirty three a D. Not at
- 7:28Speaker 1: the foundation of the world, but from God's perspective outside
- 7:32Speaker 1: of time, there is no difference between the beginning of
- 7:34Speaker 1: time and thirty three a D. That's why Jesus said
- 7:39Speaker 1: before Abraham was I currently am. He was saying that
- 7:46Speaker 1: He exists in every moment of time at the same time,
- 7:50Speaker 1: so from God's perspective, Jesus is the lamb slain from
- 7:54Speaker 1: the foundation of the world, and those who go to
- 7:57Speaker 1: Hell didn't have their names written in the world Book
- 8:00Speaker 1: of Life from the foundation of the world. But from
- 8:03Speaker 1: our perspective in time, Jesus died in the thirties AD,
- 8:08Speaker 1: and unbelievers during the end times will have their names
- 8:10Speaker 1: blotted out when they first sin against God. Now, some
- 8:15Speaker 1: great Bible expositor suggests that God doesn't blot anyone out
- 8:20Speaker 1: of the Book of Life, and all who will ever
- 8:22Speaker 1: be saved, and only the saved are written there from
- 8:25Speaker 1: the beginning of time, and that we've misunderstood some of
- 8:29Speaker 1: the scripture that speaks of the blotting out. But I
- 8:32Speaker 1: am absolutely sure of one thing that the Bible doesn't
- 8:36Speaker 1: give us enough information on the Book of Life for
- 8:38Speaker 1: us to be absolutely sure of any comprehensive theory about it.
- 8:43Speaker 1: But I think that my theory is the best way
- 8:46Speaker 1: to harmonize all of the verses on the subject in
- 8:49Speaker 1: a way that fits and makes sense. What do you
- 8:52Speaker 1: think could names really be written in the Book of
- 8:56Speaker 1: Life at conception, blotted out upon our first sin, and
- 9:00Speaker 1: then written once more when we are born again. I
- 9:03Speaker 1: think so, but I want to hear from you. Tell
- 9:07Speaker 1: me your theories on the Book of Life in the comments.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Now before I go, I want to sincerely thank you
- 9:19Speaker 1: for watching this video. If you like this content, don't
- 9:22Speaker 1: forget to hit subscribe to support the channel and to
- 9:25Speaker 1: see more content like this. I really appreciate it. Also,
- 9:30Speaker 1: I want to remind you that the whole Bible is
- 9:33Speaker 1: ultimately about one thing, the redemption of mankind by Jesus Christ.
- 9:38Speaker 1: You see, the Bible teaches that all men are sinners,
- 9:41Speaker 1: and that no sinner can have eternal life with God
- 9:43Speaker 1: in heaven because we must pay for our sins for
- 9:46Speaker 1: eternity in hell. That's the bad news. But the good
- 9:50Speaker 1: news is that Jesus died to pay the penalty for
- 9:53Speaker 1: our sins. Since our sin has been paid for by Christ,
- 9:58Speaker 1: all that is left for you to do is to
- 10:00Speaker 1: accept vgoris by thor if you've never accepted the gift
- 10:04Speaker 1: of God by faith. Once you do that today, weave
- 10:08Speaker 1: a comment or send me a message, and I'll be
- 10:11Speaker 1: happy to talk to you more about having your sins
- 10:14Speaker 1: forgiving by Jesus Christ.
