- 0:03Speaker 1: Now, Ron Verb on News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 0:08Speaker 2: All right, Heidi Ho, 306 here on a Wednesday afternoon.
- 0:11Speaker 2: It's June 3rd already. And we're sitting, it's a gorgeous
- 0:15Speaker 2: day outside, 82 degrees on this Wednesday afternoon. Hump Day,
- 0:19Speaker 2: as they say. And so we'll be with you until
- 0:21Speaker 2: we solve the world's problems. We hope to have that
- 0:23Speaker 2: done by 6.30 tonight, okay? But if it takes us
- 0:27Speaker 2: staying until midnight to solve the world's problems, we're willing
- 0:30Speaker 2: to stay if that's what it's going to take to
- 0:32Speaker 2: get the world on the right path. How is it
- 0:35Speaker 2: possible in 2026 that you can vote in California yesterday
- 0:44Speaker 2: and you still don't really have a good read on
- 0:48Speaker 2: the outcomes? How is that possible with technology in 2026?
- 0:56Speaker 2: I mean, I realize we don't live in California, but
- 1:01Speaker 2: some of this stuff is interesting to watch going on.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Spencer Pratt is running against. I don't understand how people
- 1:08Speaker 2: vote sometimes. I mean, you take a look at the
- 1:11Speaker 2: woman that was the mayor out there during the fire.
- 1:14Speaker 2: She was just absolutely horrible. This Karen Bass. I mean,
- 1:19Speaker 2: when you look at Karen Bass and listen to her,
- 1:22Speaker 2: she wasn't even in the country when these fires took place.
- 1:25Speaker 2: And she's the mayor out there. She's totally, she's in Africa.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I mean, and when you listen to her talk, she's
- 1:34Speaker 2: a dingaling. So you sit there and you say to yourself,
- 1:38Speaker 2: how is it that anybody voted for this woman? How
- 1:42Speaker 2: could anybody vote for this person? She's like a dingaling.
- 1:46Speaker 2: It's like, and she wasn't even there. And yet, she's
- 1:54Speaker 2: going to be in a runoff election. But where does
- 2:00Speaker 2: all this stuff stand as far as Spencer Pratt, the
- 2:04Speaker 2: reality show TV star, who's just Joe Bagadona saying, the
- 2:09Speaker 2: job you did sucked. You're a disgrace. All the wasted money,
- 2:16Speaker 2: all this nonsense on homelessness. Everything has gotten worse in California.
- 2:20Speaker 2: You've got people living on the street, homelessness, drugs being used,
- 2:25Speaker 2: the parks you can't use. I mean, if you look
- 2:28Speaker 2: at this liberal bastion of governing, how they govern in California,
- 2:35Speaker 2: if you just look at it, it's a failure. High taxes...
- 2:43Speaker 2: Look at the cost of gasoline. Look at the taxes.
- 2:47Speaker 2: And look at the corruption and look at the results.
- 2:51Speaker 2: So you're paying all this money and it's just terrible results.
- 2:58Speaker 2: And this is a sign of how this liberal mindset
- 3:01Speaker 2: functions in California. I mean, it is the liberal mindset.
- 3:09Speaker 2: And it's just an absolute disaster. I don't know what
- 3:13Speaker 2: else to say about it. I certainly hope and how
- 3:17Speaker 2: you would vote to say we want more of that
- 3:19Speaker 2: for the last. I just don't understand. When you look at,
- 3:21Speaker 2: for example, like a place like Florida. I mean, Ron DeSantis,
- 3:26Speaker 2: you look at a governor like him and you just
- 3:29Speaker 2: say to yourself, now that's they keep lowering taxes in Florida.
- 3:35Speaker 2: They keep lowering taxes in Florida. DeSantis is a governor,
- 3:39Speaker 2: and he wants to do something down there when it
- 3:42Speaker 2: comes to if you are a Florida resident and you
- 3:46Speaker 2: have the homestead exemption, everybody gets it. It's not income-based.
- 3:50Speaker 2: It's not age-based. But if you're in Florida and you
- 3:53Speaker 2: get the homestead exemption, he wants to almost eliminate property, well,
- 3:59Speaker 2: potentially eliminate property taxes and or significant reductions in them.
- 4:08Speaker 2: And you just look at, why would you want to, California,
- 4:13Speaker 2: great weather and all that kind of stuff, but why
- 4:15Speaker 2: would you want to stay there with the cost of living,
- 4:17Speaker 2: what gasoline costs, with what the liberal leadership has done
- 4:21Speaker 2: to that area? With their liberal ideas, it's a disaster.
- 4:26Speaker 2: It's not like even having a debate about it or
- 4:28Speaker 2: we're speculating about it.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Look.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Look at what they said they were going to do,
- 4:32Speaker 2: whether it's Gavin Newsom or Karen Bass. Look at what
- 4:35Speaker 2: they said they were going to do. And look at
- 4:36Speaker 2: the results. And look at the tax dollars. And look
- 4:39Speaker 2: at all these people making money, and a lot of money,
- 4:42Speaker 2: for supposedly solving these problems, which never get solved. That
- 4:48Speaker 2: is the liberal way in California. Many argue it's the
- 4:52Speaker 2: same way in Minnesota. So why would you vote for
- 4:58Speaker 2: more of that? I have I cannot understand the voter.
- 5:02Speaker 2: And it has to be the low information voter. It
- 5:05Speaker 2: simply has to be the low information voter that says, oh,
- 5:08Speaker 2: I'm going to vote on name recognition or I'm going
- 5:10Speaker 2: to vote on. Is this person black? Is this person white?
- 5:14Speaker 2: Is this person Irish? This person gay or some some
- 5:18Speaker 2: stupid reason to vote for somebody as opposed to what
- 5:21Speaker 2: do they stand for? You listen to this prat who's
- 5:25Speaker 2: merely saying, hey, I'm running because she's doing a terrible job,
- 5:30Speaker 2: and here's what my problems are. If you follow this
- 5:32Speaker 2: at all, I realize it's California, but it's fascinating to
- 5:35Speaker 2: follow this because he's running just to say, you've done
- 5:37Speaker 2: a terrible job. Here's what my problem is. Here's what
- 5:41Speaker 2: should be done. And it's connecting with enough people. I
- 5:45Speaker 2: would certainly like to see him run. be victorious in it.
- 5:49Speaker 2: But for some reason, he's a Republican, apparently, and that's
- 5:53Speaker 2: like a sin in California. When you look at the results,
- 5:58Speaker 2: but they say he's gaining a lot of ground with
- 6:00Speaker 2: people because he's just making sense. Don't some things go
- 6:03Speaker 2: beyond politics, Republican and Democrat? That's why I say to you,
- 6:06Speaker 2: Trump won because he connected with people. He was making
- 6:12Speaker 2: a case for, I believe, an America first. He was
- 6:15Speaker 2: identifying problems that everybody could relate to that were affecting
- 6:18Speaker 2: people and was making the world a better place in
- 6:22Speaker 2: his first term. And he was making it a better
- 6:25Speaker 2: place in America, I should say, a better place in
- 6:26Speaker 2: his first term, and America a better place in his
- 6:29Speaker 2: second term until he got involved in this war. If
- 6:34Speaker 2: he would have never got involved in this war, I
- 6:36Speaker 2: can't imagine what gas prices would be. I guarantee you
- 6:39Speaker 2: they would be $ 2.
- 6:39Speaker 4: 50 or less.
- 6:44Speaker 2: And inflation was coming down. So this war is a
- 6:48Speaker 2: game changer for him. And we shall see what happens
- 6:52Speaker 2: here as far as the outcome is concerned. We shall see.
- 6:55Speaker 2: I mean, there's so much uncertainty going on as a
- 7:01Speaker 2: result of it. So we'll give it some time. But
- 7:04Speaker 2: how can in 2026, I go back to say, how
- 7:06Speaker 2: can you still be saying, well, what's the vote count?
- 7:09Speaker 2: I mean, it's just unbelievable. with today's technology that they're
- 7:14Speaker 2: just so backward and all of this kind of stuff
- 7:18Speaker 2: that they can't get this stuff counted faster. And right
- 7:22Speaker 2: off the bat, you suspect shenanigans. Whenever something has taken
- 7:27Speaker 2: this long, you're saying, okay, what's going on here? What's
- 7:31Speaker 2: the story here? Tech CEO arrested for allegedly supplying equipment
- 7:38Speaker 2: for Iran's nuclear and military programs. Well, why would somebody
- 7:45Speaker 2: do something like that, you say? Who knows?
- 7:52Speaker 5: U.S.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Forces shoot down Iranian missiles, drones in response to fresh
- 7:57Speaker 2: attacks on Kuwait. So there you go. A California tech
- 8:05Speaker 2: company CEO was arrested for allegedly supplying U.S. equipments to
- 8:09Speaker 2: Iran's nuclear and military establishments. James Seed Gomi, 63, a
- 8:18Speaker 2: dual Iranian and U.S. citizen residing in Newport Coast, California,
- 8:24Speaker 2: is charged with conspiracy to violate the International Emergency Economic
- 8:28Speaker 2: Powers Act. He allegedly produced sophisticated U.S. origin networking security
- 8:38Speaker 2: and encryption equipment for Iranian customers, including the Iranian regime's
- 8:43Speaker 2: nuclear and military establishments. He enriched himself, they say, by
- 8:49Speaker 2: supplying U.S. technology to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran
- 8:54Speaker 2: and other sanctioned entities responsible for Iran's nuclear program. But
- 9:02Speaker 2: he's an Iranian and U.S. citizen, so should I be
- 9:04Speaker 2: shocked by that? Probably not. Probably not. You're on the air.
- 9:14Speaker 6: Yeah, I have a lot of updates for Property Tax Initiative.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Oh, good.
- 9:19Speaker 6: First of all, yeah, I met Dave Thomas last week.
- 9:21Speaker 6: He was at the Columbiana Republican Women's Club.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Isn't he impressive?
- 9:26Speaker 4: He is.
- 9:27Speaker 7: I went there to spy on him.
- 9:29Speaker 6: I wanted to see what he was saying about our group,
- 9:31Speaker 6: which he didn't say anything bad about our group, but
- 9:33Speaker 6: I just wanted to make sure. And I met with
- 9:36Speaker 6: him after, and everything went well.
- 9:38Speaker 4: So, yeah, he's a nice guy. He is.
- 9:42Speaker 6: Friday at 8 o'clock, Brian Massey is going to give
- 9:44Speaker 6: an update on Ohio Political News YouTube channel. So that's
- 9:49Speaker 6: 8 a.m. Friday, June 5th. And, I mean, we know
- 9:52Speaker 6: we're going to have to collect for another year, right,
- 9:54Speaker 6: because we only have in the 300,000 range. So I
- 9:58Speaker 6: called all my permanent signing stations.
- 9:59Speaker 8: In the 80s.
- 10:00Speaker 6: Counties and everybody's on board for another year.
- 10:02Speaker 4: How about that?
- 10:04Speaker 2: Don't they have to get to, you have to get
- 10:05Speaker 2: so many signatures from four out of 44 of Ohio's
- 10:09Speaker 2: 88 counties.
- 10:09Speaker 4: We already did that.
- 10:10Speaker 6: We already met that.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:12Speaker 2: So you've met the minimum requirements in the 44 counties.
- 10:17Speaker 9: Yep.
- 10:17Speaker 6: We surpassed that a long time ago.
- 10:19Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 10:19Speaker 2: So now you have to, you can get signatures anywhere
- 10:23Speaker 2: as long as you can get, what, you want 600,000
- 10:27Speaker 2: roughly valid signatures?
- 10:29Speaker 6: Yeah, Brian's not going to feel comfortable submitting any less
- 10:32Speaker 6: than that because to clear that bar of 413, 488,
- 10:36Speaker 6: you want to make sure, because sometimes they'll throw out 20, 22%.
- 10:39Speaker 6: So you really have to make sure you, because once
- 10:42Speaker 6: you turn them in, that's it. If you didn't meet the,
- 10:45Speaker 6: if you didn't go over the bar, you're back to zero.
- 10:47Speaker 11: Right.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Right.
- 10:48Speaker 6: So we're going to collect for another year and everybody's
- 10:50Speaker 6: on board, which, you know, I call people in eight
- 10:53Speaker 6: counties and they're all just down with it. So I'm
- 10:56Speaker 6: so happy about that. That's a good like bellwether. You know,
- 10:59Speaker 6: people are just they're determined in the state of Ohio.
- 11:04Speaker 2: I certainly hope so. When you say you want to
- 11:07Speaker 2: spy on Dave Thomas, listen, Dave Thomas on a program
- 11:10Speaker 2: on a regular basis says the following. What's the spot?
- 11:13Speaker 2: He says, basically, he says, a lot of what I'm
- 11:15Speaker 2: getting accomplished is out of fear of the effort of
- 11:18Speaker 2: what you're doing. I keep saying we should not be
- 11:22Speaker 2: a circular firing squad. He has accomplished some incredible things,
- 11:26Speaker 2: and he's done this. If your efforts don't succeed or
- 11:31Speaker 2: if it gets on a ballot and it fails, his
- 11:34Speaker 2: accomplishments will still be there. We should be applauding it
- 11:38Speaker 2: for what he's done.
- 11:40Speaker 12: I am.
- 11:40Speaker 6: I mean, what he says on the radio show, I
- 11:42Speaker 6: want to make sure he says the same thing when
- 11:43Speaker 6: he goes to all these groups.
- 11:45Speaker 8: You know what I mean?
- 11:45Speaker 4: That's just good.
- 11:48Speaker 6: Strategy you got to just make sure it went well
- 11:50Speaker 6: he hugged me what can i tell you.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Oh he's a very smart guy i think he's like
- 11:54Speaker 2: i say he's artist working state rep that i can
- 11:57Speaker 2: remember my 41 years here i mean he's he's actually
- 12:01Speaker 2: getting stuff accomplished that has benefited every single property taxpayer
- 12:06Speaker 2: right now right now currently he's he's done that and
- 12:09Speaker 2: he's done it because of the fear of this movement
- 12:13Speaker 2: that you have going on.
- 12:15Speaker 6: Well, when I asked him, I said, you know, your
- 12:17Speaker 6: bill to make it easier to turn townships into cities,
- 12:20Speaker 6: do you think that's going to pass? And he does
- 12:22Speaker 6: think it's going to pass. He said it'll probably be
- 12:24Speaker 6: after voting day in November. But he thinks it'll pass. So,
- 12:28Speaker 6: you know, I think that's a really good thing, a
- 12:30Speaker 6: forward thing. And I also like that he took some
- 12:33Speaker 6: of these schools off the 20-mil floor, including Poland. You know,
- 12:36Speaker 6: I mean, I do.
- 12:37Speaker 7: I like those things.
- 12:38Speaker 6: So I told him.
- 12:39Speaker 13: Right.
- 12:40Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know that people are saying, okay,
- 12:42Speaker 2: they want their township to become a city. We shall see.
- 12:46Speaker 2: I mean, I can't give you a read on that
- 12:48Speaker 2: as far as people are concerned. And believe me, not
- 12:51Speaker 2: everybody's going to want to say, let's switch to an
- 12:53Speaker 2: income tax off of a property tax, because in some cases,
- 12:56Speaker 2: the income tax could cost them a lot more than
- 12:58Speaker 2: the property tax. So, I mean, it's a very individual
- 13:01Speaker 2: situation for people. The bottom line is, even if you
- 13:05Speaker 2: can modify property taxes, but basically... People are saying, get
- 13:11Speaker 2: the tax off of our property altogether. We should own it,
- 13:15Speaker 2: and the government shouldn't have a say-so in it.
- 13:17Speaker 6: Yeah, they shouldn't be able to take our homes. The
- 13:19Speaker 6: one thing about Florida, though, I don't know that that
- 13:21Speaker 6: includes the education piece. When they say they're getting rid
- 13:24Speaker 6: of property taxes, I don't know that that also includes education.
- 13:28Speaker 6: I don't know that they went that far.
- 13:31Speaker 2: They're supposed to have something on. DeSantis wants to have
- 13:34Speaker 2: something on the November ballot. What that is is yet
- 13:39Speaker 2: to be determined. But what's interesting is he's the governor
- 13:42Speaker 2: championing saying, Listen, for Florida residents, we have got to
- 13:46Speaker 2: do something about these property taxes. And I believe I
- 13:50Speaker 2: heard him say that every year they're spending less money
- 13:54Speaker 2: as state government. They're reducing their spending, and they've done
- 13:58Speaker 2: it for several years. I'm thoroughly impressed with DeSantis. I mean,
- 14:02Speaker 2: I hate to see him leave as the governor of Florida.
- 14:06Speaker 2: I would love to see him run as president. I
- 14:09Speaker 2: think he'd make a great president, but... It's sad. Term
- 14:12Speaker 2: limits are a good thing and a bad thing. Term limits,
- 14:15Speaker 2: term limit a guy like that out of office, and
- 14:17Speaker 2: he's an excellent governor, and that's what I don't like
- 14:19Speaker 2: about term limits.
- 14:21Speaker 13: Right, right.
- 14:22Speaker 6: Yeah, so Friday I'm going to be at Rogers Flea Market.
- 14:24Speaker 6: If anybody wants to sign the petition.
- 14:27Speaker 2: I'll be in. Now, how does that go? I mean,
- 14:29Speaker 2: do they get people at the Rogers Flea Market?
- 14:33Speaker 6: Oh, sometimes it's mobbed.
- 14:35Speaker 12: Really?
- 14:36Speaker 14: It's mobbed.
- 14:37Speaker 6: Yeah, and this should be a really– it's going to
- 14:39Speaker 6: be great weather, so it could be– we could get
- 14:41Speaker 6: really slammed this time.
- 14:44Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a good place to go.
- 14:45Speaker 6: You get a lot of counties, like 15 different counties easily. Yeah,
- 14:50Speaker 6: it's good. And then I just want to plug there's
- 14:52Speaker 6: a new permanent signing station in East Liverpool. So if
- 14:55Speaker 6: you live in East Liverpool, it's called Nana's Primitives. It's
- 14:59Speaker 6: on 621 St. Clair Avenue, and they're.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Collecting– Youngstown's news, weather, and talk station, 570 WKBN.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Looking at the market today, the Dow's down 490. Dow
- 15:11Speaker 2: falls 400 points as oil prices and bond yields creep higher.
- 15:16Speaker 2: So the Dow's down almost 500. The S & P' s
- 15:18Speaker 2: down 45. The Nasdaq's down 227. The Russell's down 38. So,
- 15:20Speaker 2: bad day on the markets today. Mad day in the markets.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Dow falls 400 points as oil prices and bond yields
- 15:38Speaker 2: creep higher. Let's see. Stocks fell. Oil prices following the U.S.
- 15:44Speaker 2: and Iran launching new strikes. West Texas intermediate futures rose 2%
- 15:48Speaker 2: to 96 per barrel. While Brent crude gained 2% to
- 15:52Speaker 2: around 98 per barrel. I told you that's Art Berman speaking.
- 16:01Speaker 2: He's a geologist, oil guy. He says that he thinks
- 16:06Speaker 2: it's just his opinion. Like they say, he could be right,
- 16:09Speaker 2: he could be wrong. He thinks oil could end up
- 16:12Speaker 2: being around $ 160 to $ 180 a barrel. If these things
- 16:16Speaker 2: aren't resolved by July, this thing drags on. He thinks
- 16:21Speaker 2: oil could go into those. I mean, those are pretty
- 16:25Speaker 2: significant numbers. I mean, there's some people saying that if
- 16:29Speaker 2: this thing drags on, The price of a barrel of
- 16:33Speaker 2: oil is going to go up substantially and inflation is
- 16:35Speaker 2: going to come back. It'll be spin your head. And God,
- 16:40Speaker 2: I hope that's not the case. Trump said on Wednesday
- 16:45Speaker 2: that Iran agreed to not have nuclear weapons, but he
- 16:48Speaker 2: added they can change their mind. Okay, so they didn't
- 16:51Speaker 2: agree to anything if they can change their mind. The
- 16:56Speaker 2: president's comments came after the conflict in the Middle East
- 16:59Speaker 2: grew more intense and pushed oil prices higher. I think
- 17:04Speaker 2: Iran is saying, Iran might have the strategy of we'll
- 17:08Speaker 2: kind of hold off until we get close to the midterms. Iran,
- 17:14Speaker 2: I think their philosophy might be time is on our side.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Because as much as you're devastating us, we'll devastate you economically.
- 17:24Speaker 13: Right.
- 17:25Speaker 2: And you'll pay a price during the midterms, and people
- 17:29Speaker 2: will pay a price as well. Financially, we shall see.
- 17:32Speaker 2: You're on the air.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Hi there.
- 17:36Speaker 5: On this beautiful, gorgeous day, huh?
- 17:38Speaker 2: It is a gorgeous day. Thank you for calling.
- 17:40Speaker 5: The wind was about three miles. If the wind out
- 17:43Speaker 5: there would go about three miles an hour, it would
- 17:46Speaker 5: be a beautiful kite day.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Yeah, but, I mean, would it blow off your toupee?
- 17:51Speaker 5: I don't have a toupee.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Just kidding.
- 17:54Speaker 13: Okay.
- 17:55Speaker 5: I know, I know, I know. I don't think we
- 17:57Speaker 5: should worry about California and their mother state. They're trying
- 18:00Speaker 5: to figure their stuff out just like we're trying to
- 18:02Speaker 5: figure ours. But what I don't understand is why did
- 18:06Speaker 5: the electric companies that we're buying electricity off of say
- 18:11Speaker 5: they have to have a raise after what they did
- 18:14Speaker 5: to us quite a few years back? And yet now
- 18:19Speaker 5: they're out there begging for a raise so that they
- 18:22Speaker 5: can continue on with what they got. It was not
- 18:25Speaker 5: our fault that they lost all that money. And now
- 18:29Speaker 5: they want to make it up. I don't think that's fair.
- 18:31Speaker 5: I tell them, suffer.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Yeah, but the problem is you need them and you
- 18:36Speaker 2: end up suffering if they don't. It's not one of
- 18:39Speaker 2: those businesses that can go out of business, let's put
- 18:41Speaker 2: it that way. Well, you're paying more for the electricity
- 18:45Speaker 2: period because of the supply and demand that's going on
- 18:48Speaker 2: for it now. So, I mean, the cost of my
- 18:51Speaker 2: electricity has doubled. It used to be roughly... a little
- 18:54Speaker 2: under a nickel, and now it's more close to a dime.
- 18:57Speaker 2: So it's doubled in cost, just the electricity itself. Now,
- 19:01Speaker 2: if you're talking about they want more money for the
- 19:03Speaker 2: transmission part of it, is that what you're talking about?
- 19:05Speaker 5: Yeah, well, whatever they want to do. I mean, people
- 19:09Speaker 5: are out there trying to put up, you know, solar
- 19:12Speaker 5: panels to help cut their bill, and the guy wanted
- 19:14Speaker 5: to build a farm to put solar panels up. They
- 19:17Speaker 5: cut him off on that. All that would have dumped
- 19:19Speaker 5: right in and would have helped ease the burden of
- 19:23Speaker 5: Of them getting electricity.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Stand by for me. Stand by. I'm going to come
- 19:26Speaker 2: back to him after the break. And he's an interesting gentleman.
- 19:30Speaker 2: More to come with him right after this.
- 19:32Speaker 15: Saturday 8 to noon.
- 19:33Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKVN. News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Ron Verp, 334-56.
- 19:37Speaker 2: There you go. I'm learning how to tell time. It's 336.
- 19:38Speaker 2: It's June 3rd.
- 19:38Speaker 16: It's 81 degrees.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Five six there you go i'm learning how to tell
- 19:45Speaker 2: time it's 3 36 it's june 3rd it's 81 degrees
- 19:49Speaker 2: and let me go back and check in with this
- 19:52Speaker 2: guy so i i've for some reason i find you
- 19:55Speaker 2: intriguing just to bear with me for a bit roughly
- 19:58Speaker 2: how old are you 74 all right and you and
- 20:04Speaker 2: you're retired And would you describe yourself, how would you
- 20:08Speaker 2: describe yourself as a liberal, conservative, moderate, from a political viewpoint?
- 20:17Speaker 5: I am a Republican that is moderate. Not a moderate Republican.
- 20:21Speaker 5: I'm a Republican that is moderate. But by the way
- 20:26Speaker 5: we can vote for presidents in the United States, I
- 20:29Speaker 5: can vote to the Democratic side, if I wish.
- 20:32Speaker 2: All right. And how do you assess, at 74... When
- 20:36Speaker 2: you look at things today, how do you think things
- 20:38Speaker 2: are going?
- 20:40Speaker 5: Not well. Not well at all. You see, in my
- 20:43Speaker 5: line of thinking, I've watched over this stuff for many years. Many,
- 20:50Speaker 5: many years. And I've seen the biggest takeaway I get
- 20:54Speaker 5: from it is that this country is in a fight.
- 20:58Speaker 5: And the fight is corporations and millionaires. And they want
- 21:04Speaker 5: to tell people, woe was me when I got to
- 21:07Speaker 5: pay more taxes, but did any woe was me when
- 21:12Speaker 5: I got a paycheck, when I made the overtime? No,
- 21:16Speaker 5: I had to pay my fair share. And yet these
- 21:19Speaker 5: guys continuously want, but when they do, and at the
- 21:22Speaker 5: end of the year, and I've been, like I said,
- 21:24Speaker 5: 30 years I've been watching this, every time them big
- 21:27Speaker 5: corporations at the end of the year, oh, well, we
- 21:31Speaker 5: paid this much in taxes, but again... That's a two-sided knife. Meaning,
- 21:39Speaker 5: if they decide they crunch the numbers, we're going to
- 21:42Speaker 5: have to pay a million dollars in taxes, but we'll
- 21:46Speaker 5: give it to a non-profit organization and we can deduct it.
- 21:51Speaker 5: And that's okay because that's the way the tax law
- 21:53Speaker 5: is written. But it's because the same thing can be
- 21:57Speaker 5: done for me depending on what I make. But the
- 22:03Speaker 5: biggest problems went all the way back to Roosevelt, Teddy Roosevelt.
- 22:09Speaker 5: He went after them because they weren't paying their fair share,
- 22:12Speaker 5: and they said, we pay so much now. And it's
- 22:17Speaker 5: always been a fight between big business, big money, and
- 22:21Speaker 5: the man working on the ground. And I've seen that
- 22:27Speaker 5: time and time and time again, not just where I work,
- 22:31Speaker 5: but all over the United States in big corporations and
- 22:34Speaker 5: big money. And we've always had that fight. And every
- 22:37Speaker 5: time we get to go to somebody who's going to
- 22:39Speaker 5: say they're going to do something about it, somehow it
- 22:43Speaker 5: never comes. It just never comes. Now, take, for instance,
- 22:48Speaker 5: they're talking about taking away the early voting through ballots.
- 22:56Speaker 5: The state of Ohio... Impressively, like many, many, many states,
- 23:03Speaker 5: their results of showing people who shouldn't have voted or
- 23:08Speaker 5: voted illegally were found, sought out, and it was discussed.
- 23:15Speaker 5: It got straightened out. But you take certain states that,
- 23:21Speaker 5: and they're seeing it now, and hopefully they'll straighten that out.
- 23:27Speaker 12: It evolves.
- 23:28Speaker 5: It keeps going on. Just like you and me, we evolve.
- 23:33Speaker 5: And we can't help but evolve because we have to
- 23:35Speaker 5: evolve either in a negative way or a positive way.
- 23:39Speaker 5: And most of the time we try to evolve in
- 23:41Speaker 5: a positive way.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Yeah, because as you grow older, you become wiser, hopefully,
- 23:48Speaker 2: and you learn more and you can change your opinion
- 23:49Speaker 2: or times change or things change. Nothing stays..
- 23:53Speaker 5: Math, they teach you how to do math, so when
- 23:56Speaker 5: it comes down to math, it took my granddaughter, nine
- 23:59Speaker 5: years old, to teach me how to do the math
- 24:01Speaker 5: the way they did it, and I was absolutely, wow,
- 24:04Speaker 5: that works.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Yeah, but would you say, though, part of the problem
- 24:09Speaker 2: might be a spending problem more than a taxing problem?
- 24:13Speaker 5: I believe the biggest major problem is we don't have
- 24:19Speaker 5: enough people to follow up with who is getting this
- 24:25Speaker 5: free or half-free money. And we just don't have enough
- 24:33Speaker 5: people to take down or take a look, okay, we're
- 24:37Speaker 5: going to look at Smojo. What kind of money does
- 24:40Speaker 5: he really make? Does he deserve food stamps? Does he
- 24:44Speaker 5: deserve health programs? You know, that sort of stuff. We
- 24:47Speaker 5: don't have enough people to measure out the real differences here.
- 24:50Speaker 13: But..
- 24:51Speaker 5: The conservative Republicans, oh, we've got to cut government. We've
- 24:55Speaker 5: got to cut government. So when you've got to cut government,
- 24:57Speaker 5: I mean, how many years now does it take for
- 24:59Speaker 5: income taxes to be checked out? We just did ours.
- 25:05Speaker 5: Now it's going to take seven to nine years before
- 25:08Speaker 5: they can even get to you or me, most likely.
- 25:11Speaker 5: It's like they get this big, huge barrel, and each
- 25:15Speaker 5: person gets to reach in and pull out a name
- 25:17Speaker 5: or a company. Okay, we'll do their taxes. And if
- 25:21Speaker 5: their taxes come out wrong, okay, we caught them. But
- 25:23Speaker 5: what about the other group that they didn't catch? We
- 25:30Speaker 5: don't have enough people to look over other people's shoulders
- 25:33Speaker 5: to make sure the job is done.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Right. In other words, we should have more investigators to
- 25:39Speaker 2: make sure that people that are ripping us off... Well,
- 25:43Speaker 2: we can see it both in Minnesota, we can see
- 25:45Speaker 2: it in Ohio, where people are literally making millions of dollars... fraudulently,
- 25:51Speaker 2: where these Somalian communities, and people aren't checking up on
- 25:55Speaker 2: their leering centers or their hospices or their autism centers.
- 26:01Speaker 5: You're right. Up there, they got caught because they were
- 26:04Speaker 5: able to get away with it, but it was American citizens.
- 26:09Speaker 5: who actually were doing most of it. It wasn't all
- 26:11Speaker 5: just Somalians.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Well, no, I mean, in large part it was the
- 26:14Speaker 2: Somalian community. Just as we're coming to find out, I'm
- 26:18Speaker 2: not saying that there aren't some Americans involved in it, too,
- 26:20Speaker 2: but in large part we're finding the same communities involved
- 26:23Speaker 2: in it in the state of Ohio. What you're saying is,
- 26:26Speaker 2: and I agree, where was the follow-up to somebody actually
- 26:30Speaker 2: going to see, does this person have, is this elderly person,
- 26:36Speaker 2: Have a family relative that's given him care and what
- 26:38Speaker 2: type of care? Or is there really a hospice center here?
- 26:42Speaker 2: Or is there really something dealing with autism here as
- 26:44Speaker 2: opposed to these phony storefronts and this kind of stuff?
- 26:49Speaker 2: I'm in total agreement with you. But in general, don't
- 26:51Speaker 2: you think government's gotten too big when I say it's
- 26:54Speaker 2: a spending problem? I don't think everybody's problems should become
- 26:58Speaker 2: my problems. I don't think it's up to me to
- 27:00Speaker 2: pay taxes to solve everybody's problems. Don't you think that
- 27:04Speaker 2: there should be consequences to your actions and you have
- 27:07Speaker 2: to live with it? It's not up to me to
- 27:09Speaker 2: say we're taking more of your money because of the
- 27:12Speaker 2: dumb decisions this person made.
- 27:13Speaker 5: Okay, I understand what you're saying. And yes, I agree,
- 27:20Speaker 5: but half-heartedly. Many years ago when I came here to
- 27:23Speaker 5: this state, and I was in desperate need of food stamps.
- 27:30Speaker 5: That's all I wanted. So I'm sitting in a parking
- 27:33Speaker 5: lot with my gas tank on three gallons, and it's
- 27:36Speaker 5: going to take me a gallon and a half to
- 27:38Speaker 5: get back to where I'm at. So here I am looking,
- 27:41Speaker 5: and I'm saying, I don't want to do this. I
- 27:42Speaker 5: shouldn't have to do this. I can't find a job,
- 27:45Speaker 5: but So finally a woman pulls up in a cotton-picking
- 27:49Speaker 5: brand-new Cadillac with her 60- or 90-day or what a
- 27:53Speaker 5: 30-day tags on it. She gets out, opens up the trunk,
- 27:57Speaker 5: pulls out a nasty coat, nasty pair of pants, takes
- 28:01Speaker 5: her shoes off, puts some nasty shoes on. I beat
- 28:04Speaker 5: her to the door. Only to find out when I
- 28:08Speaker 5: sat down next to her that here she was working
- 28:12Speaker 5: for General Motors. So let's take this now. Six more
- 28:20Speaker 5: years later, I got caught in a jam because I
- 28:22Speaker 5: got laid off at work. So I went in, and
- 28:26Speaker 5: I said, I need food stamps. The girl looked at
- 28:29Speaker 5: me and says, well, we have all this other. I
- 28:32Speaker 5: don't need the others. I need food to put on
- 28:35Speaker 5: the table. And an argument commenced. I says, no, dear,
- 28:40Speaker 5: I don't need that. I'm barely getting by with unemployment.
- 28:45Speaker 5: But I can get by and push my way through,
- 28:48Speaker 5: and when I get back to work, I'll do my bills,
- 28:51Speaker 5: like most people would do. But some people, okay, well, yeah,
- 28:55Speaker 5: I paid into it. I should have it. I should
- 28:58Speaker 5: get it. Well, I didn't. A few years later, the
- 29:02Speaker 5: same thing happened. That's when Reagan stepped in. And the
- 29:05Speaker 5: next thing I know, I'm laid off. I go in
- 29:08Speaker 5: and get the food stamps. I see a lady. She's
- 29:10Speaker 5: sitting in front of me. She's going to check all
- 29:12Speaker 5: the paperwork out. I says, all I want is food stamps.
- 29:16Speaker 5: She denied me the food stamps. I had all the
- 29:19Speaker 5: material there, so I asked for her supervisor. Supervisor came
- 29:23Speaker 5: down and said, what seems to be the problem? I said,
- 29:26Speaker 5: take a look at my paperwork. I said, all I
- 29:29Speaker 5: want is food stamps. He said, you don't want anything else?
- 29:31Speaker 3: No.
- 29:32Speaker 5: Well, then he looked over at the woman that was
- 29:34Speaker 5: administrating the whole thing and checking it out, and he said, well,
- 29:37Speaker 5: what seems to be the problem here? Now, this is
- 29:41Speaker 5: the truth. She said he works for this company, and
- 29:49Speaker 5: my husband worked for the same company, and he hid money.
- 29:53Speaker 5: My ex-husband hid money. He looked at her and frowned, said,
- 29:58Speaker 5: sign it. She signed it, and then he signed it,
- 30:03Speaker 5: and I got my food stamps. Later on in the year,
- 30:06Speaker 5: they changed the whole thing where all you had to
- 30:09Speaker 5: do was mail it in. So I went back to
- 30:12Speaker 5: work in April, told them I was at work. I
- 30:16Speaker 5: got to work two weeks to get a paycheck. So
- 30:19Speaker 5: I said, well, we'll get through this. The next thing
- 30:23Speaker 5: I know, I get food stamps May, June, July, August, September. Now,
- 30:29Speaker 5: my wife's a nervous wreck. We have all these food stamps.
- 30:32Speaker 5: You've been sending all the paperwork. Has it been right? Well,
- 30:36Speaker 5: when I got the food stamps the second time, I
- 30:38Speaker 5: started copying all the paperwork.
- 30:42Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 30:43Speaker 5: And I went back in. Anyhow, they come back in.
- 30:45Speaker 5: I went to bring the food stamps in, took a
- 30:46Speaker 5: day off, went in, got it all checked out. She says,
- 30:49Speaker 5: I don't understand this. I said, get the supervisor back.
- 30:52Speaker 5: He come back. And I said to him what had happened.
- 30:55Speaker 5: He said, I don't understand this either, sir. Well, I
- 30:58Speaker 5: picked up this little brown bag, put it up there,
- 30:59Speaker 5: and pulled all the food stamps out that I wasn't
- 31:01Speaker 5: really supposed to get. His answer, now grab this, his
- 31:07Speaker 5: answer is, we have no paperwork for you to give
- 31:12Speaker 5: us back the food stamps. Check, countercheck. You see what
- 31:20Speaker 5: I'm saying?
- 31:20Speaker 13: Mm-hmm.
- 31:21Speaker 5: So this is why we need people to look over people. Somehow,
- 31:26Speaker 5: I kept getting missed. And they said, well, go ahead
- 31:32Speaker 5: and use them. You got to go ahead and use them.
- 31:35Speaker 5: In years to come, you'll be working and you'll be
- 31:36Speaker 5: paying it all back. So, I mean, it's a matter of,
- 31:43Speaker 5: like you said, we didn't have enough people. COVID came
- 31:46Speaker 5: in and they just rubber-stamped the checks going out the door.
- 31:49Speaker 5: because we didn't have enough people. We still don't have
- 31:53Speaker 5: enough people to catch fraud. And then when this administration
- 31:57Speaker 5: started screaming fraud, fraud, fraud, fraud, fraud, now we got
- 32:01Speaker 5: a bunch of people that were taking off other jobs
- 32:04Speaker 5: instead of hiring other people to look for the fraudsters.
- 32:07Speaker 5: Now they've got to take their time away from what
- 32:10Speaker 5: they were doing, which God only knows must be needed
- 32:13Speaker 5: because they wouldn't have a job. And they're looking for fraudsters.
- 32:19Speaker 5: And guess what? Now we're finding them. Now we're out
- 32:23Speaker 5: in hot pursuit. So it's not an easy answer. But
- 32:31Speaker 5: like I'm saying, big money, big corporations think they run
- 32:35Speaker 5: this country. They're the only ones that know how to
- 32:37Speaker 5: make this country work.
- 32:39Speaker 12: And all over the world and in.
- 32:42Speaker 5: Major countries, they're not really having this kind of problem
- 32:45Speaker 5: because they sought it out and they fixed it. as
- 32:49Speaker 5: the best they can, like anything else that evolved. But
- 32:52Speaker 5: it never evolves here in the United States.
- 32:58Speaker 2: When you were working and you would go on strike,
- 33:01Speaker 2: I mean, when you were not working, that's because you
- 33:03Speaker 2: guys were on strike?
- 33:06Speaker 4: No, sir.
- 33:07Speaker 5: The company said when Reagan stepped in there, they were
- 33:12Speaker 5: allowed to go all the way back to the era
- 33:16Speaker 5: of depression and get rid of people. and just barely
- 33:20Speaker 5: get by with skeleton crews here and there.
- 33:21Speaker 2: All right, so you lost your job? Is that right?
- 33:24Speaker 5: No, I got laid off.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Okay, you got laid off from General Motors.
- 33:28Speaker 5: Well, I'm not going to say because it's... Well, I mean,
- 33:31Speaker 5: I assume.
- 33:32Speaker 2: I don't know if I'm right or not. But you
- 33:35Speaker 2: got laid off.
- 33:37Speaker 4: Correct.
- 33:38Speaker 2: After working how long?
- 33:41Speaker 5: I was into my sixth or seventh year.
- 33:44Speaker 3: Okay.
- 33:45Speaker 14: Okay.
- 33:47Speaker 2: All right. And how long did it take you to
- 33:49Speaker 2: find another job, or did you wait until they called
- 33:51Speaker 2: you back?
- 33:52Speaker 5: Oh, I had to go look for other jobs, and
- 33:53Speaker 5: I worked here a little bit, there a little bit.
- 33:57Speaker 5: And then I got called back. Most of the time
- 34:00Speaker 5: was always in April. And then after that year, I
- 34:05Speaker 5: never was laid off again, thank God.
- 34:11Speaker 2: All right. And your assessment today is? that things were
- 34:20Speaker 2: in bad shape today, in your opinion?
- 34:23Speaker 5: Oh, yes, they are. I mean, there should be, in
- 34:26Speaker 5: my mind, if we make 20 million barrels of fuel
- 34:32Speaker 5: a day extra, and Trump is now going into that
- 34:37Speaker 5: emergency strategic oil now, he's been into it three times.
- 34:42Speaker 5: It's at its lowest peak it's ever been.
- 34:44Speaker 17: Mm-hmm.
- 34:46Speaker 5: And there's no sign and there's nothing in course to
- 34:50Speaker 5: replenish it. It's going to be the next president's job
- 34:53Speaker 5: and the president after him to rebuild that just to
- 34:57Speaker 5: keep the prices down.
- 35:01Speaker 2: All right. So you're concerned about the prices going up
- 35:04Speaker 2: and inflation, obviously.
- 35:05Speaker 8: Oh, yeah.
- 35:06Speaker 5: Well, here's the other part. If these big businesses take
- 35:12Speaker 5: a look. Oh, well, they got used to paying that much.
- 35:16Speaker 5: We'll just lower it down to $ 0. 50 or $ 0.
- 35:18Speaker 3: 75.
- 35:18Speaker 5: And we'll still end up having to pay. And their
- 35:22Speaker 5: profits will be bigger.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Gotcha.
- 35:25Speaker 13: Yep.
- 35:25Speaker 3: All right.
- 35:26Speaker 2: I got you. All right. Thank you. Appreciate it. Thanks
- 35:28Speaker 2: for your call.
- 35:30Speaker 5: Have a nice day.
- 35:31Speaker 2: U2 News Radio 570 WQEN. And Ron Verp, 352 in
- 35:32Speaker 2: the afternoon. There's 74 years on the planets in his
- 35:39Speaker 2: assessment of how things are and should be. 82 Degrees,
- 35:42Speaker 2: Ron Furp from the Kingdom of Mahoning with you here
- 35:45Speaker 2: on a beautiful Wednesday.
- 35:47Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Ron Furp, 356 in the afternoon, and you're on air.
- 35:53Speaker 10: Mr.
- 35:54Speaker 18: Furp, how are you?
- 35:55Speaker 2: I am well. I am very well. Thank you for asking.
- 35:59Speaker 18: I just want you to know that it is not
- 36:02Speaker 18: my problem that First Energy got caught cheating. I should
- 36:08Speaker 18: not have to pay extra because of them getting caught.
- 36:13Speaker 18: It works both ways, buddy. But you know what? I
- 36:18Speaker 18: need Ohio Edison.
- 36:19Speaker 5: We all do.
- 36:20Speaker 18: And that's what they know. They got you. So it's
- 36:23Speaker 18: not my problem they got caught along with the speaker
- 36:28Speaker 18: of the Ohio House, Householder, with all the stuff that
- 36:33Speaker 18: was going on a couple years ago.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Right, but if you take a look, A householder went
- 36:38Speaker 2: to jail. The guys from Ohio Edison all lost their jobs.
- 36:42Speaker 2: And I forget what penalties that they had to pay.
- 36:45Speaker 2: There was justice that came out.
- 36:47Speaker 18: Yeah, they paid $ 278 million.
- 36:50Speaker 2: I mean, they all got... No, they all didn't get.
- 36:55Speaker 18: Two or three of them committed suicide.
- 36:57Speaker 2: Right, but the people that were involved in it all
- 37:01Speaker 2: paid a dear price for it. And, I mean, that
- 37:04Speaker 2: is what justice is all about. So you should be pleased.
- 37:08Speaker 18: I think, aren't you overlooking it? They want to get
- 37:13Speaker 18: that $ 278 million back. That's why your KWH on your electric.
- 37:19Speaker 5: Bill is double.
- 37:22Speaker 2: No, that isn't why. You are paying more for electricity.
- 37:26Speaker 2: And I sincerely, let's put politics out of it, because...
- 37:31Speaker 2: It is a supply and demand issue, but I'm just
- 37:33Speaker 2: trying to be straightforward with you. The war on coal
- 37:37Speaker 2: was a real thing that happened.
- 37:40Speaker 18: I don't want to get into the war.
- 37:41Speaker 2: No, but I mean it's important for you to understand
- 37:45Speaker 2: why you're paying more. You don't want to hear the
- 37:47Speaker 2: reason for it.
- 37:48Speaker 18: But you say you don't want to get political. That
- 37:50Speaker 18: is as political as you can get.
- 37:53Speaker 2: But if I say to you... That Obama and Clinton
- 37:57Speaker 2: and John Kerry and Biden, that they wanted..
- 38:01Speaker 18: I don't believe any of that.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Well, do you remember the war on coal?
- 38:06Speaker 18: I don't believe any of it. I'm sorry, but I don't.
- 38:08Speaker 2: Well, why do you think they regulated that Samus plant
- 38:11Speaker 2: out of business with all the scrubbers on? and insisted
- 38:14Speaker 2: it be torn down without anything to replace it. That
- 38:18Speaker 2: was the Obama administration that did that. I mean, why
- 38:21Speaker 2: do you, you can say to yourself... We'll stand by,
- 38:27Speaker 2: just stand by, just stand by. Hang on, I'm going
- 38:30Speaker 2: to come back to you and talk to you some more.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Let me get my headlines out of the way, and
- 38:33Speaker 2: then I'll come back and talk to him some more
- 38:36Speaker 2: after this.
- 38:41Speaker 19: From ABC News, I'm Michelle Franzen. Iran and the U.S.
- 38:44Speaker 11: Trading strikes, this time in Kuwait. The Pentagon says it
- 38:47Speaker 11: shot down drones targeting U.S. forces in Kuwait. Kuwaiti's airport
- 38:51Speaker 11: also heavily damaged. ABC's Karen Travers has more on new
- 38:55Speaker 11: remarks by President Trump.
- 38:56Speaker 20: In a new podcast interview that was released today, the
- 38:58Speaker 20: president has said he hadn't made up his mind about
- 39:01Speaker 20: making a deal with Iran or potentially going back to
- 39:04Speaker 20: major combat operations and major strikes against Iran. He was
- 39:07Speaker 20: asked what that would do. He said it would achieve certainty.
- 39:11Speaker 20: But I do think it's important to underline here. We've
- 39:13Speaker 20: heard the president repeatedly, every time he talks about this situation,
- 39:17Speaker 20: say that Iran's military capabilities are have been decimated, but
- 39:21Speaker 20: what we see with these strikes overnight show that they
- 39:24Speaker 20: still have capabilities to carry out something that can have
- 39:27Speaker 20: deadly consequences.
- 39:28Speaker 11: The Senate could start voting as early as tonight on
- 39:30Speaker 11: legislation to fund immigration enforcement agencies. Voting put on hold
- 39:35Speaker 11: over bipartisan backlash of President Trump's so-called anti-weaponization fund created
- 39:40Speaker 11: as part of a settlement related to President Trump's IRS case.
- 39:44Speaker 11: The president and DOJ have since nixed the fund after
- 39:46Speaker 11: a judge put a temporary freeze on the $ 1. 8 billion.
- 39:49Speaker 11: Homeland Security Secretary Mark Wayne Mullen on Capitol Hill testifying
- 39:55Speaker 11: about immigration operations, along with security preps for the World Cup,
- 39:59Speaker 11: which kicks off next week. Mullen says they're ready, but
- 40:02Speaker 11: there are challenges for what he likened to 78 Super
- 40:05Speaker 11: Bowls across U.S. cities over the next month.
- 40:07Speaker 15: I feel very comfortable where we're at, and we feel
- 40:09Speaker 15: like we have a zero-fail mission, but it's going to
- 40:11Speaker 15: be complicated. We have seven Five to seven million visitors
- 40:15Speaker 15: coming in. We have some very complicated countries that are
- 40:18Speaker 15: going to be playing each other that have a tremendous
- 40:20Speaker 15: amount of dislike against each other.
- 40:22Speaker 11: In California, a hostage standoff and bomb threat at a
- 40:25Speaker 11: bank in downtown Bakersfield is over. Police say the suspect
- 40:29Speaker 11: is dead. All 10 hostages were released unharmed. Police say
- 40:33Speaker 11: they don't have a motive. On Wall Street, stocks ending
- 40:36Speaker 11: lower today. You're listening to ABC News.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Welcome one and all, 4.06 in the afternoon, Wednesday, June 3rd,
- 40:45Speaker 2: 82 degrees. It's a gorgeous day, hope you're enjoying it.
- 40:49Speaker 2: On News Radio 570, WKBN. I am most certainly enjoying.
- 40:52Speaker 18: It, but I'm inside the house right now. I can't
- 40:57Speaker 18: enjoy it that much if I'm in here, huh?
- 41:00Speaker 2: Well, you can enjoy it by looking out the window,
- 41:03Speaker 2: and it doesn't mean because you're inside you're not enjoying
- 41:05Speaker 2: the day. You can go out and enjoy it a
- 41:07Speaker 2: little bit later. It doesn't mean you have to be out.
- 41:10Speaker 18: I would agree with you more if you agreed.
- 41:13Speaker 2: With me once in a while. Well, I don't agree
- 41:16Speaker 2: with you on this because..
- 41:17Speaker 18: I know you probably don't. You have your Ohio Edison bill.
- 41:24Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Just listen to me. Just hang on a second.
- 41:27Speaker 21: Okay, just hang on.
- 41:28Speaker 2: With all due respect... With all due respect..
- 41:35Speaker 18: I'm at 9.70 KWH.
- 41:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Okay.
- 41:45Speaker 18: Now, when you go home, you look at your bill,
- 41:47Speaker 18: and you look under usage information for meter number and
- 41:52Speaker 18: whatever your meter number is. You look under there and
- 41:56Speaker 18: see how many kilowatt hours you actually use for that month.
- 42:01Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Okay.
- 42:02Speaker 8: Okay.
- 42:03Speaker 18: And then get back to me, and then I'll compare
- 42:07Speaker 18: them with my 3,144 KWH, which was an actual reading
- 42:14Speaker 18: that I had, and we'll see how much usage you
- 42:19Speaker 18: had at that point. And you'll see why your bill
- 42:25Speaker 18: is high.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Well, I can honestly answer your question, and I'm going
- 42:31Speaker 2: to do it, and then you can be quiet, and
- 42:33Speaker 2: you can either Say whatever. But I'm going to go
- 42:38Speaker 2: back to this. Just bear with me for a second.
- 42:41Speaker 2: I am trying to let you know that there's ramifications
- 42:44Speaker 2: to things, and I know it might not be what
- 42:46Speaker 2: you want to hear. But here's why. Okay, once again,
- 42:51Speaker 2: I can't even get three sentences out. Just allow me
- 42:54Speaker 2: to indulge me. Just indulge me for a minute to
- 42:58Speaker 2: open your eyes. The cost of electricity has gone up
- 43:04Speaker 2: because of the war on coal. Now, I can't make it.
- 43:08Speaker 2: There's politics involved because it was the green energy people.
- 43:12Speaker 2: These people were Obama, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry. Biden and
- 43:18Speaker 2: that whole contingent of people that said they're buying into
- 43:22Speaker 2: this green energy stuff. This war on coal that happened
- 43:27Speaker 2: with Hillary Clinton and Obama was very much a real thing.
- 43:30Speaker 2: So I'm not talking about China. I'm talking about right
- 43:33Speaker 2: here in the area that you live in. So what
- 43:36Speaker 2: they did... was they put regulations on coal plants because
- 43:41Speaker 2: they wanted to get rid of coal. So they regulated
- 43:45Speaker 2: them out of business. It didn't matter that the Samus
- 43:48Speaker 2: plant had the most modern technology and the scrubbers and
- 43:51Speaker 2: all this stuff. They wanted to regulate them so that
- 43:54Speaker 2: they put them right out of business. And they were
- 43:57Speaker 2: successful in doing that. And they made a law, a rule,
- 44:01Speaker 2: that when you closed it down, you had to tear
- 44:05Speaker 2: it down Because they didn't want you to have the
- 44:07Speaker 2: ability to turn it back on. So this was the
- 44:11Speaker 2: Obama-Clinton tenure. They regulated it out. You had to tear
- 44:15Speaker 2: it down. We tore down perfectly good coal-producing plants, which
- 44:21Speaker 2: would be very expensive to build today. That was their goal.
- 44:24Speaker 2: And they didn't have anything to replace coal. the power
- 44:28Speaker 2: generation of that plant. They didn't think that through to say, well,
- 44:33Speaker 2: this is going to pick up that load. They didn't care.
- 44:35Speaker 2: It was a green energy deal. As a result of
- 44:38Speaker 2: moves like that, Just hear me out. As a result
- 44:42Speaker 2: of moves like that, and whether you like it or not,
- 44:45Speaker 2: Trump has stopped. The order from Trump now is you
- 44:49Speaker 2: cannot tear any of these coal plants down. But as
- 44:53Speaker 2: a result of tearing these plants down, not having anything
- 44:56Speaker 2: to replace it, the war on coal. That then, of course,
- 45:01Speaker 2: demand going up with data centers and what have you.
- 45:04Speaker 2: The price of electricity has gone up because you've created
- 45:08Speaker 2: a supply and demand and a shortage issue all at
- 45:11Speaker 2: the same time because of this. Now, all of a sudden,
- 45:16Speaker 2: it's okay. Even these green energy people like Bill Gates
- 45:19Speaker 2: and that, now they realize that they need these data
- 45:22Speaker 2: centers and they'll make a ton of money from it.
- 45:24Speaker 2: These green energy people all of a sudden are for
- 45:27Speaker 2: coal plants. They're for nuclear power. They're for fossil fuels
- 45:32Speaker 2: because the people who were against it are now for
- 45:34Speaker 2: it because that's what they need to run their facilities,
- 45:37Speaker 2: whether it's Facebook or Google or whoever it might be.
- 45:43Speaker 2: I'm not making this stuff up. I'm just saying if
- 45:45Speaker 2: you take a look at it, That's why you're paying more.
- 45:49Speaker 2: I'm not any happier than you are. My electric rate
- 45:53Speaker 2: has doubled. That's why it has doubled. And it very
- 45:57Speaker 2: well will go up even higher because the supply and
- 46:01Speaker 2: demand issue continues. They bid on this stuff, continues to
- 46:06Speaker 2: go up. My concern is, I share the concern with you.
- 46:09Speaker 2: I am concerned about having affordable utilities for people. I
- 46:15Speaker 2: dwell on it every day that you've listened. I am
- 46:19Speaker 2: sitting here. I'm not screwing with you. I'm genuinely, genuinely
- 46:24Speaker 2: give a damn about even the people who can't stand me,
- 46:27Speaker 2: who get tired of me. I'm here every day trying
- 46:30Speaker 2: to do something that lower people's property taxes, successfully getting
- 46:34Speaker 2: some things done every day, trying to point out why
- 46:37Speaker 2: we have this problem. So people understand it. So they
- 46:40Speaker 2: don't go voting for this stuff in the future. There's
- 46:42Speaker 2: ramifications to it. And John Kerry said, the great John Kerry,
- 46:48Speaker 2: the Democrat, he thought we should live like they do
- 46:50Speaker 2: in Europe, where they don't have all this air conditioning
- 46:54Speaker 2: and stuff. Of course, he wouldn't live like that in
- 46:56Speaker 2: his mansion. He was talking about the rest of us,
- 46:59Speaker 2: me and the rest of the peasants out there. Shouldn't
- 47:02Speaker 2: have central air and enjoy the comfort in our home.
- 47:05Speaker 2: And they are reaching a point by increasing these rates
- 47:09Speaker 2: to where people will get electric bills and think twice
- 47:12Speaker 2: before they turn on their air conditioning. Or instead of
- 47:14Speaker 2: turning it on 72, we'll turn it on 74 because
- 47:18Speaker 2: it's so damn expensive. Now, I'm genuinely concerned that people
- 47:23Speaker 2: have affordable electricity. And I sit here and I say
- 47:26Speaker 2: this to you. I'm against these people who want to
- 47:28Speaker 2: shut the coal plants down because at the same time,
- 47:32Speaker 2: you can't put all your eggs in one basket. So
- 47:34Speaker 2: if they shut a coal plant down and let's say
- 47:36Speaker 2: we have two natural gas plants now at Lordstown, anytime
- 47:40Speaker 2: you build an energy plant that uses natural gas, the
- 47:44Speaker 2: demand for natural gas goes way up. So you're going
- 47:47Speaker 2: to catch a, because you don't have the diversity of hydro, nuclear,
- 47:52Speaker 2: and coal, you're putting it all on natural gas, you're
- 47:56Speaker 2: going to get screwed with high electric rates in addition
- 47:59Speaker 2: to high natural gas rates. So it'll cost you more
- 48:02Speaker 2: to heat your house. It'll cost you more to turn
- 48:04Speaker 2: the lights on. And these are basic necessities that are
- 48:08Speaker 2: going up beyond the rate that people can afford. I
- 48:11Speaker 2: understand that, but I'm trying to explain it to you
- 48:14Speaker 2: why this has happened. And I'm trying to say, if
- 48:18Speaker 2: you listen to when Dave Thomas is on, what are we,
- 48:21Speaker 2: what are they doing to try to prevent this from
- 48:24Speaker 2: getting worse? Oh, We've changed the energy policy so where
- 48:29Speaker 2: they're making it easier to build these plants and what
- 48:31Speaker 2: have you. But it takes years to build this stuff
- 48:35Speaker 2: that we should never rip down in the first place.
- 48:37Speaker 2: I'm not trying to be an ass with you. I'm
- 48:39Speaker 2: not trying to say it's all about politics, but in
- 48:43Speaker 2: some cases, it is about politics and bad decisions people
- 48:47Speaker 2: have made. I am man enough to sit here to you,
- 48:50Speaker 2: and I have respect for you. You know that. And
- 48:53Speaker 2: say to you, I support Trump. I voted for Trump
- 48:56Speaker 2: three times. And I think overall, he's doing a decent job.
- 49:00Speaker 2: But I think Trump is dead ass wrong with this
- 49:02Speaker 2: war in Iran. And I think it was a major
- 49:05Speaker 2: mistake from day one. I think it's a giant mess
- 49:09Speaker 2: and it could go. It could cost us dearly as
- 49:12Speaker 2: far as oil prices, gasoline, energy and inflation. But I
- 49:17Speaker 2: won't cover his ass or act like it didn't happen.
- 49:20Speaker 2: As we go along, if it gets worse in July
- 49:23Speaker 2: and August, I'll put the blame right at his feet
- 49:26Speaker 2: for the decision he made because he deserves that blame
- 49:30Speaker 2: if it materializes like that. I'm not going to sit
- 49:33Speaker 2: here and say, oh, because I voted for him or
- 49:35Speaker 2: as a Republican, I can't do that.
- 49:37Speaker 10: I'm not.
- 49:38Speaker 11: No.
- 49:38Speaker 2: I'm not a cheerleader. So you stay tuned. I'm critical
- 49:42Speaker 2: of Trump today and continue to be over this war
- 49:45Speaker 2: situation and the mess he got this country in. And
- 49:48Speaker 2: I don't think it's working out very good at the
- 49:52Speaker 2: present time. I hope I'm wrong when the dust settles.
- 49:56Speaker 2: I'm afraid that you can see an oil shortage. I'm
- 50:00Speaker 2: afraid that you can see more expensive oil. as we
- 50:05Speaker 2: get into June and July, to where it could go
- 50:09Speaker 2: well beyond $ 120 a barrel and put a hurt on everybody.
- 50:14Speaker 2: So I'm not going to be like you and say, well,
- 50:17Speaker 2: you can't make it about politics, because if that happens,
- 50:20Speaker 2: it is about politics. It's about what he did. I
- 50:24Speaker 2: rest my case, Your Honor.
- 50:29Speaker 18: Well, evidently, quite obviously, You have... I probably shouldn't have
- 50:37Speaker 18: brought it up in the first place because you're very
- 50:41Speaker 18: well versed because you went on there for 10 minutes
- 50:45Speaker 18: about Ohio Edison and the energy and all this.
- 50:48Speaker 2: Just trying to let you know why prices went up.
- 50:50Speaker 2: That's all I'm trying to do.
- 50:51Speaker 18: Prices... I'm not an expert on it. I never was.
- 50:57Speaker 7: All I see..
- 51:01Speaker 18: The person that I am is that I see... fraud, cheating, lying, deceitfulness.
- 51:11Speaker 18: I see it all in this administration. The Republicans will
- 51:19Speaker 18: not admit to it.
- 51:21Speaker 2: I admit to it.
- 51:21Speaker 18: That's what I'm trying to say. I just heard you
- 51:24Speaker 18: say about Trump and how you're—I get it. I understand.
- 51:28Speaker 2: Okay, have you listened to me?
- 51:30Speaker 18: The mags out there, they are going to believe until
- 51:34Speaker 18: the day they die. And the attack on the Capitol
- 51:38Speaker 18: was just a walk in the park.
- 51:42Speaker 2: Listen, listen for a second. I'm not a fan of DeWine.
- 51:48Speaker 18: If you agree to that, then I should probably not
- 51:52Speaker 18: even call your show.
- 51:54Speaker 3: Seriously.
- 51:55Speaker 18: Because, let me put it this way.
- 51:59Speaker 2: Well, you keep going back on stuff. Listen, I am..
- 52:03Speaker 18: If you're not going to, if the Republican Party is
- 52:07Speaker 18: not going to live by the rules that the rest
- 52:11Speaker 18: of us live by... then I have to break the
- 52:14Speaker 18: rules to make sure you conform to the rules of
- 52:19Speaker 18: this country. Does that make any sense?
- 52:21Speaker 4: No.
- 52:22Speaker 18: Okay, well, think about it. Think about what I just said,
- 52:27Speaker 18: because it does. If you are going to, not you,
- 52:30Speaker 18: if the Republican Party is going to continue down the
- 52:33Speaker 18: path of lies, deceitfulness, and trying to run this country
- 52:39Speaker 18: with everybody under their thumb and turn it into a
- 52:42Speaker 18: third world nation, then I'm going to have to do something,
- 52:46Speaker 18: meaning the other side is going to have to do
- 52:50Speaker 18: something to make that party conform and get around to
- 52:54Speaker 18: what the laws and regulations that we have been used
- 52:57Speaker 18: to in this country for the past 250 years.
- 53:04Speaker 2: Are those laws that we're used to over 250 years,
- 53:07Speaker 2: laws about having men in women's locker rooms, are those
- 53:13Speaker 2: the laws you're referring to? No, are those the laws
- 53:16Speaker 2: that you talk about for 250 years that means an
- 53:19Speaker 2: open border and everybody can walk in?
- 53:21Speaker 1: Are those the laws?
- 53:23Speaker 18: I bet you don't even know one person that is
- 53:28Speaker 18: LBGTQ or whatever it's called.
- 53:31Speaker 3: Yes, I do.
- 53:32Speaker 18: No, it's not a talking point.
- 53:33Speaker 5: They are.
- 53:51Speaker 2: They most certainly are.
- 53:54Speaker 18: You asked 95% of Democrats that same question, and they'll
- 53:58Speaker 18: say you're nuts.
- 53:59Speaker 2: They are the ones championing it with the whole nonsense.
- 54:04Speaker 18: I haven't heard anybody talk about that.
- 54:07Speaker 10: Okay.
- 54:08Speaker 2: In months. That is where the party is. They stand
- 54:12Speaker 2: for it today. They're the party of the transgenderism. They're
- 54:16Speaker 2: the party of you can wish yourself a woman. Men
- 54:19Speaker 2: can have babies. They can't even define a woman. You
- 54:23Speaker 2: put forth a candidate on the Supreme Court that won't
- 54:26Speaker 2: even answer what a woman is. They don't even want
- 54:28Speaker 2: to call a mother a mother. They don't want to
- 54:31Speaker 2: say boys and girls. That's your party. Suck it up.
- 54:36Speaker 2: That's your party. I can sit here and say to you,
- 54:42Speaker 2: you lack the ability. I can sit here and say
- 54:44Speaker 2: to you, I agree with the court that Trump's name
- 54:47Speaker 2: should have never been on the Kennedy Center. I can
- 54:49Speaker 2: sit here and say to you, I think this was
- 54:51Speaker 2: a mistake, Trump getting into this war. I can sit
- 54:54Speaker 2: here and say to you, there are things about Trump
- 54:57Speaker 2: that bother me when he turns on his fellow supporters
- 55:01Speaker 2: and some of the stuff that he does. Because I'm
- 55:04Speaker 2: not a cheerleader like you. I don't have blinders on
- 55:06Speaker 2: like you. I can criticize the guy I voted for,
- 55:09Speaker 2: even though I'd vote for him again, because overall I
- 55:12Speaker 2: agree with what he's doing. But I can sit here
- 55:13Speaker 2: and criticize the stuff I don't agree with. And if
- 55:16Speaker 2: he creates all this inflation, we'll certainly be talking about it.
- 55:20Speaker 2: But you lack the ability. You lack the ability to
- 55:23Speaker 2: admit your party is into the freaky social stuff. I
- 55:29Speaker 2: don't think I want to ask you anything more. I
- 55:31Speaker 2: think I've had.
- 55:31Speaker 4: Enough of you.
- 55:33Speaker 2: I don't want to talk to you anymore.
- 55:35Speaker 18: Yes, you do.
- 55:36Speaker 2: Maybe I do.
- 55:36Speaker 18: What else besides men can't have babies? No, they can't.
- 55:40Speaker 18: What else do you want me to say?
- 55:42Speaker 2: I'm just trying. You are a staunch Democrat. Yes, you are.
- 55:54Speaker 2: You're a staunch Democrat. You go to the No Kings rally.
- 56:01Speaker 2: I am going to secretly send the boss lady down
- 56:07Speaker 2: undercover to the next No Kings rally. I'm going to
- 56:09Speaker 2: have her dress undercover to try to film.
- 56:12Speaker 4: You at the No Kings rally.
- 56:14Speaker 18: Can I get paid.
- 56:15Speaker 2: To go there? Unfortunately, no, you actually went there on
- 56:26Speaker 2: your own, which is hard for me to imagine. I mean,
- 56:30Speaker 2: first of all, a guy your age driving is very
- 56:33Speaker 2: troubling to me. All right. Yes. Well, you probably shouldn't
- 56:39Speaker 2: be on the road. You should probably be Ubering at
- 56:41Speaker 2: your age. I'm sure when you drove down there, I'm
- 56:45Speaker 2: sure when you drove down there, you drove 45 miles
- 56:48Speaker 2: an hour in the left-hand lane of the freeway. 45
- 56:51Speaker 2: miles an hour. All right. Have a good day.
- 56:53Speaker 12: Bye.
- 56:55Speaker 1: Listen to Youngstown's news, weather, and talk station, 570 WKBN.
- 56:59Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 57:04Speaker 2: We're on verb. All right. So we'll do whatever. 424
- 57:05Speaker 2: in the afternoon. You're on the air.
- 57:12Speaker 10: I'll tell you what, every time I listen to that guy,
- 57:15Speaker 10: I want to go to my utility drawer and pull
- 57:17Speaker 10: out some knives, Ron. That guy's pumped out, man. I mean,
- 57:23Speaker 10: I don't know if it's Trump drinking or something, but
- 57:26Speaker 10: you're right. They destroyed our ability to make electricity. And
- 57:31Speaker 10: it is political because they did it. Obama, Clinton, and
- 57:36Speaker 10: the rest of before them, you know.
- 57:40Speaker 2: Don't forget O'Biden, as you call him.
- 57:44Speaker 12: O'Biden?
- 57:46Speaker 10: Well, I call him O'Biden because he's just following Obama's rules.
- 57:50Speaker 10: You know, he's like being counseled.
- 57:52Speaker 22: By him, you know?
- 57:53Speaker 10: Mm-hmm. Yeah, so anyhow, I was nice to hear, Denise.
- 57:58Speaker 10: Very uplifting, very positive. And I'm glad she's moving forward
- 58:03Speaker 10: with her eight.
- 58:04Speaker 14: Counties, or nine counties, okay?
- 58:08Speaker 10: And so, like I say, the Guardians did great. They
- 58:14Speaker 10: actually beat the Yankees, although you didn't have their number
- 58:18Speaker 10: one star, Andrew Bones. You got a Bruce Bones. So
- 58:24Speaker 10: he was in it. So they won 9-4, and they're
- 58:26Speaker 10: playing tonight at 7. The catcher's pitching tonight, Ron.
- 58:29Speaker 2: Who's pitching?
- 58:30Speaker 10: Gavin Williams.
- 58:32Speaker 21: What?
- 58:33Speaker 10: It's going to be a great game.
- 58:35Speaker 2: Well, it's enjoyable to listen to and it's enjoyable to follow.
- 58:39Speaker 2: I mean, it really is.
- 58:40Speaker 10: Don't you love Tom Hamilton?
- 58:42Speaker 16: Yes.
- 58:43Speaker 2: Yes, I do.
- 58:44Speaker 12: Oh, my God, man.
- 58:45Speaker 10: Do you want to jump out of your chair?
- 58:47Speaker 2: It just relaxes me. I mean, it just relaxes me,
- 58:52Speaker 2: which I need. You know, it gives me a chance
- 58:56Speaker 2: to just listen to. him call a game, and I
- 58:59Speaker 2: just find it personally very relaxing and enjoyable.
- 59:02Speaker 10: Well, you know, after three hours of what you've got
- 59:04Speaker 10: to listen to, hell, I can't.
- 59:05Speaker 23: Listen to anything anymore.
- 59:07Speaker 10: I turn it on, and I hear people talking. I'm like,
- 59:10Speaker 10: you've got to be kidding me.
- 59:13Speaker 22: I'm feeling really bad for you, Ron.
- 59:14Speaker 10: I shut it off, you know?
- 59:16Speaker 2: I'm glad you do. I'm glad you feel bad for me.
- 59:18Speaker 2: Somebody should feel bad for me.
- 59:20Speaker 10: I'm glad Hamilton gives you a boost.
- 59:23Speaker 2: Yes, absolutely. And so do you, Baba Ganoush, just so
- 59:26Speaker 2: you know.
- 59:27Speaker 14: No, I don't.
- 59:28Speaker 10: You tell me that all the time.
- 59:30Speaker 2: I know.
- 59:31Speaker 10: Hey, just like you know, Trump knows what he's doing.
- 59:40Speaker 10: That's all I've got to say. And I talk to
- 59:42Speaker 10: people that don't like Trump, that like Trump, and all
- 59:46Speaker 10: of them say, nobody knows what he's doing.
- 59:48Speaker 7: I said, he knows what he's doing.
- 59:51Speaker 5: Okay.
- 59:52Speaker 10: I just want to say that. So, Frank, I'm sorry, sir,
- 59:55Speaker 10: but you're stuck with it.
- 59:57Speaker 2: All right. Thank you, Bubba Ganoush. Bubba Ganoush, you're on air.
- 1:00:02Speaker 10: Whoa.
- 1:00:03Speaker 12: Holy catfish. I never heard anybody. That guy was something else, right? Oh, man.
- 1:00:12Speaker 24: Oh, boy.
- 1:00:13Speaker 12: That wasn't nice. Yeah, the Guardians did good. I agree
- 1:00:17Speaker 12: with Bubba Ganoush. You can't beat Tom Hamilton.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: No, you can't.
- 1:00:21Speaker 12: He's the best, isn't he?
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: Yes, he is the best.
- 1:00:23Speaker 12: The best.
- 1:00:24Speaker 4: He is.
- 1:00:25Speaker 12: And it's good. I'm glad to see it. I'm glad
- 1:00:27Speaker 12: to see it. Well, and I'm better. The Browns will
- 1:00:30Speaker 12: be okay, maybe.
- 1:00:32Speaker 25: Maybe.
- 1:00:32Speaker 12: But I'll still root for them.
- 1:00:34Speaker 13: I know.
- 1:00:34Speaker 5: That's okay.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:00:36Speaker 12: You know, you change things, and it's going to be okay,
- 1:00:40Speaker 12: I think. At least, I believe. Have a good day, buddy.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: Thank you. Here's Radio 570 WKBN.
- 1:00:47Speaker 26: You're on air.
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: Hello?
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: Line 3. You wouldn't know what line you're on anyway.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: I do, because I can see it in front of me.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: You go back on hold. Let's see here. You're on ear. Hello.
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: You got to pay attention. You go back on hold.
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: You're on ear.
- 1:01:14Speaker 8: Ron, you are an artiste blood boiler.
- 1:01:18Speaker 23: I mean..
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: It's the guru from Girard. We'll come back with him
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: after the break at 4.30. He is the guru from Girard.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: Words of wisdom from Miguel coming up.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: We're back at News Radio 570 WKVN. All right, the
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: guru from Girard.
- 1:01:35Speaker 8: Hello.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Hi.
- 1:01:38Speaker 8: I was just thinking, we're talking, you're listening to 570 WKVN. Ron,
- 1:01:41Speaker 8: may I share a memory with you?
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:01:45Speaker 8: That was sparked by your volley with Fifth Avenue.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:01:49Speaker 8: Which is why I called you a class, I mean,
- 1:01:51Speaker 8: just you're a class act blood boiler.
- 1:01:54Speaker 13: Okay.
- 1:01:55Speaker 8: So this is about the week before Trump got elected
- 1:01:59Speaker 8: the second time. And as I did on the first one,
- 1:02:03Speaker 8: I had a feeling he was going to get elected
- 1:02:05Speaker 8: for the second time. And I'm sitting at my dining
- 1:02:08Speaker 8: room table. There are two college graduates in the area
- 1:02:13Speaker 8: of counseling and another brilliant student. And they're related to me.
- 1:02:21Speaker 8: Two out of three are related to me. And they're
- 1:02:23Speaker 8: having a conversation. as clear as day, like as serious
- 1:02:29Speaker 8: as it can be about what they're studying in school,
- 1:02:32Speaker 8: about how all these, like trying to justify what LBTQ
- 1:02:36Speaker 8: is and LBTQ plus. And, you know, and, and we
- 1:02:39Speaker 8: were actually, I was paying for this. Right. And, and then,
- 1:02:46Speaker 8: and by the way, this was at a time when
- 1:02:48Speaker 8: I was going through and being injected with all kinds
- 1:02:50Speaker 8: of drugs and everything. And as I'm listening to this,
- 1:02:52Speaker 8: I said to myself, Okay, God, I've seen enough. I'm
- 1:02:56Speaker 8: ready to go.
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: Okay?
- 1:02:58Speaker 8: I literally said that to myself.
- 1:02:59Speaker 13: Okay?
- 1:03:00Speaker 8: Which now I'm glad I didn't see. But I looked
- 1:03:02Speaker 8: at these kids and I said, I don't mean to
- 1:03:06Speaker 8: tell you what to do.
- 1:03:07Speaker 10: Well, I said, what did I say?
- 1:03:11Speaker 8: Everything you're discussing right now is not going to matter
- 1:03:13Speaker 8: in a week. And sure as can be, All of
- 1:03:20Speaker 8: it just disappeared. For Fifth Avenue to say that Democrats
- 1:03:26Speaker 8: don't do that and didn't do that. I mean, we've
- 1:03:29Speaker 8: got a lot of people around here that are like
- 1:03:32Speaker 8: normal Democrats. They're not all like that. But all those
- 1:03:35Speaker 8: people in charge and the Democrats, that's all they were
- 1:03:38Speaker 8: doing and talking to people at the educational level. And
- 1:03:40Speaker 8: they were having huge impact. I mean, think about that.
- 1:03:43Speaker 8: They were teaching that to college educated people who are
- 1:03:46Speaker 8: going to be in charge of people. It was so
- 1:03:49Speaker 8: on the edge of being dangerous to our society that
- 1:03:54Speaker 8: I was just... I seriously said to myself, okay, God,
- 1:03:56Speaker 8: I've seen enough.
- 1:03:56Speaker 24: I'm ready to go.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: Really?
- 1:03:59Speaker 8: You reminded me of that.
- 1:04:00Speaker 12: Yes.
- 1:04:01Speaker 8: You reminded me of that as I was, like, listening
- 1:04:04Speaker 8: to him in denial about that. Now, I'm not saying
- 1:04:08Speaker 8: anything about anybody else or, you know, that nobody's at fault.
- 1:04:11Speaker 8: Like you said, if somebody's an idiot, I'll call them
- 1:04:14Speaker 8: an idiot if I think they're an idiot.
- 1:04:16Speaker 9: But..
- 1:04:17Speaker 8: That was just crazy dangerous to be brainwashing all of
- 1:04:22Speaker 8: our children and everything into this contrived stuff that is
- 1:04:28Speaker 8: so far from physical reality that it just made no
- 1:04:31Speaker 8: sense at all. It's almost like trying to get everybody
- 1:04:36Speaker 8: to use solar panels so the big corporations could actually
- 1:04:40Speaker 8: use all the energy that we make and we'd all
- 1:04:43Speaker 8: be stuck with the solar panels.
- 1:04:49Speaker 27: Yes.
- 1:04:49Speaker 8: You following me?
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: I'm listening to every word you're saying.
- 1:04:53Speaker 8: You know, I mean, it was crazy.
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: Do you remember that time period?
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: Absolutely, I remember it. I mean, it wasn't that long ago.
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: I mean, people have a hard time. Listen, as I've
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: said a million times before, you know as well as
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: anyone as a listener, I'm not here to cheerlead for anybody.
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: I don't care if they're Republican or Democrats. I think
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: DeWine is god-awful as a governor with the cover-up that's
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: going on with all of this fraud. Do you think
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: that because if you're a conservative that I can make
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: a justification for DeWine with the fraud that's taking place
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: and his lack of taking action on it? Do you
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: think I can support DeWine by giving a sales tax
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: break to the data centers. I think that stuff's ridiculous. What,
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: am I supposed to sit here and say, oh, if
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: you're a Republican, you better not criticize a Republican for
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: doing that type of ass-dying stuff? Or I'm not supposed
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: to sit here and criticize something that I disagree with
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: Trump on? Well, then you're a phony. Then you're a fraud.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: Then you're nothing. Then I don't know what the point is.
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: I mean, I can disagree with Trump on some issues,
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: but I still think he's a far better choice than
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: anything the Democrats have. Far better. I mean, I think
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: the Republicans have better choices. I think Ron DeSantis would
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: make a great president. I think he's a terrific governor.
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: I think we just got more bench strength in the
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: Republican Party than the wackos in the Democrat Party and
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: their wacky agenda.
- 1:06:23Speaker 10: Period.
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: I mean, would I vote for Amy Acton for governor?
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: Absolutely not.
- 1:06:29Speaker 8: Do you know why I think Ron's verb should be
- 1:06:33Speaker 8: governor or senator?
- 1:06:34Speaker 9: Why?
- 1:06:34Speaker 8: I don't know if you remember our last conversation, but
- 1:06:38Speaker 8: you asked me if we should put the data centers
- 1:06:41Speaker 8: in right now, and I said no because they are
- 1:06:46Speaker 8: not collecting taxes from them. Do you remember that? I
- 1:06:50Speaker 8: don't know. A lot of people talk to you, but
- 1:06:52Speaker 8: that was my response.
- 1:06:53Speaker 7: Do you know two days.
- 1:06:54Speaker 8: Later, the governor came out and revoked that and started
- 1:06:58Speaker 8: saying they were going to... I mean, do you think
- 1:07:03Speaker 8: he listens?
- 1:07:04Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 1:07:06Speaker 8: But you're pretty powerful and you don't realize it. And
- 1:07:10Speaker 8: I think there's... So I would love to see you
- 1:07:14Speaker 8: put down the microphone just for that reason. Other than that,
- 1:07:18Speaker 8: you can just stay here and drive us all crazy
- 1:07:19Speaker 8: for the rest of the night.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: But listen, Michael... Michael, time has ticked by. Listen, I
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: sincerely and greatly appreciate that. That means a lot coming
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: from you. But let me put it this way to you.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: At 68 years of age... This is it. You know
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: what I'm saying? Are you kidding me?
- 1:07:42Speaker 10: No.
- 1:07:42Speaker 14: You're a rookie.
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: You're like a honeymooner there. No. When I'm done, I'm done.
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: At some point, life does run out.
- 1:07:54Speaker 8: Think of how you could be corrupted, my friend, and
- 1:07:57Speaker 8: make so much money and change everything you think of
- 1:08:01Speaker 8: within a year.
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: You'd be a totally different person.
- 1:08:05Speaker 8: Think of how you could do that. That'd be so fun.
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: I think that sometimes I look at, well, I just
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: appreciate that. I appreciate that a great deal. But if
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: I was a younger man, as they would say, that
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: would be a possibility. I told you when.
- 1:08:20Speaker 28: You were younger.
- 1:08:20Speaker 8: I said the same thing when you were younger. You
- 1:08:22Speaker 8: wouldn't listen.
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: You remember?
- 1:08:23Speaker 8: Some people talk to you, but I'll go back and
- 1:08:26Speaker 8: find the tape.
- 1:08:27Speaker 7: Can you please run?
- 1:08:29Speaker 10: I support you.
- 1:08:29Speaker 8: I've said this I don't know how many times.
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: I know. Come on.
- 1:08:32Speaker 8: There's not much time left.
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: Well, you would know better than anyone because you almost
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: faced the end, right? You never know. What do they say?
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: God laughs when he hears you make plans.
- 1:08:49Speaker 10: Every day counts, though.
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: Every day does count.
- 1:08:53Speaker 8: And you've got a few to get there. Come on,
- 1:08:55Speaker 8: promote G2. Get some signs going. And you get elected, Ron.
- 1:09:00Speaker 8: You will get elected. You'll be like that, what's his name,
- 1:09:03Speaker 8: the guy running for L.A. mayor.
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Yeah.
- 1:09:06Speaker 12: You will be.
- 1:09:08Speaker 14: You will.
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: You know, you mean a lot to me, and I
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: appreciate it, buddy. I do. Did you get the paint
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: brush and get busy?
- 1:09:19Speaker 8: Yeah, I've got a little more to do.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: Hey, I'm glad you're still amongst us, all right? Yep.
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: I appreciate it. The guru from Girard. Michael, thank you.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: All right, let's see. You're on air.
- 1:09:32Speaker 13: Ron?
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: Yes?
- 1:09:38Speaker 14: How are you feeling today?
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: It's the boss lady on the end of the line.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: I am fine. Thank you, boss lady. I am fine.
- 1:09:48Speaker 14: You're all fine, and you feel very relaxed today for
- 1:09:54Speaker 14: a counseling session today, but you've dispatched me to a
- 1:09:57Speaker 14: no-things rally again.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: I'm just saying, Fifth Avenue goes... Yeah, you would have
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: to be like in a camouflage outfit. You'd have to
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: go undercover. And he's got a very distinguishable voice, and
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: we know he's an older guy. And you would have
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: to try to track him down and then throw a
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: net over him and take him for counseling.
- 1:10:25Speaker 14: Can't we get JJ to do this?
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: Unfortunately, probably we could, but that's probably not.
- 1:10:32Speaker 14: We probably could.
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: JJ, help me. Can't you do this for me? We'll
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: let it slide. We'll let it slide, but who knows?
- 1:10:43Speaker 14: We are going to be collecting signatures. I will be
- 1:10:46Speaker 14: with Mark collecting signatures at Four Seasons on Sunday. So
- 1:10:52Speaker 14: if anybody has not signed a petition yet.
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: Four Seasons flea markets?
- 1:10:57Speaker 21: Yep, at the flea market.
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: What's up with all of these people going to these
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: flea markets?
- 1:11:02Speaker 14: They're packed.
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: Really?
- 1:11:04Speaker 14: Well, I like to go. I forget about it, honestly.
- 1:11:07Speaker 14: But then when Mark brought it up to me, I
- 1:11:10Speaker 14: was like, well, yeah, of course we need to go back.
- 1:11:13Speaker 14: But they're packed. I like to get my fruit and
- 1:11:15Speaker 14: vegetables from there.
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: This is the weirdness. I mean, you know, I got
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: to say that I've never had some desire to go
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: to a flea market. But yet, whenever my wife says, hey,
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: you want to go to Meijer with me, I always say, absolutely.
- 1:11:28Speaker 2: And I'm like in the Austintown Meijer store, I'm like,
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: I'm loving this. Loving this.
- 1:11:33Speaker 14: That's where people can spot you. You just need to
- 1:11:37Speaker 14: stand aside and wait in.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: The vegetable section? No, because I keep on going like
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: a bullet. I just follow her and just say, okay,
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: can I get this? What do you think about this?
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: What do you think about that? No, no, no, no.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: You're like a little kid in a store is what
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: I hear.
- 1:11:58Speaker 14: You can't get any Dr.
- 1:12:00Speaker 8: Pepper.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: No, I'm off the pop altogether.
- 1:12:03Speaker 21: Well, no, you're not in the pop section.
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: No, I tell everybody. Now, she gets upset. See, folks,
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: I go, here's my M.O. When I go to Meijer,
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: I go in the door in Austintown and I go
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: directly to the back wall. I now, my wife thinks
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: it's insane, I buy... Pre-made, unsweetened iced tea that is
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: just filtered water and tea. That's the only ingredients in it.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: It's made by, you buy a gallon of it. It's
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: from Milo's. It's in the back cooler.
- 1:12:34Speaker 14: I've had it.
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: Milo's. And I go right to the back. I grab
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: one or two of those. And they were $ 4 a gallon.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: Now it's $ 4.
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: 20.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: Inflation. Okay. It's going up to $ 4.
- 1:12:45Speaker 9: 20.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: You don't get any pushback?
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:12:48Speaker 2: I get that because I don't drink any pop anymore.
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: And she says to me, you know, I make iced tea,
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: and I could make that for 50 cents. And I said, yeah,
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: but I'd rather buy it here in this jug. And
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: I just like the taste of it. And that's it.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: You know what I mean? This is what happens. This
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: is like you going to the flea markets. in Four
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: Seasons Flea Markets. You can see live and in person
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: the boss lady. When is that going to be, Sunday?
- 1:13:20Speaker 14: Sunday, 9 to noon. Yep, we'll be there to collect signatures.
- 1:13:25Speaker 14: And I think somebody, did Denise call in and say
- 1:13:28Speaker 14: about the announcement on Friday? Okay. Yeah, so we'll learn
- 1:13:31Speaker 14: on Friday. We're just going to keep going until we're
- 1:13:34Speaker 14: told to stop. In case we don't have the number,
- 1:13:36Speaker 14: we'll just keep collecting.
- 1:13:38Speaker 21: Just Sunday, June 7th, 9 to noon.
- 1:13:41Speaker 14: You will find us at the Four Seasons Flea Market
- 1:13:44Speaker 14: if you want to sign. You can sign from any county.
- 1:13:46Speaker 14: So we can collect and take your signatures, whether you're
- 1:13:49Speaker 14: from Mahoning County, Trumbull County, Columbia. It doesn't matter what
- 1:13:51Speaker 14: county you're in as long as you haven't signed before.
- 1:13:53Speaker 14: And you're registered to vote.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: Why don't you set up a little stand there and
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: sell some homemade blankets that you knitted together or something?
- 1:14:04Speaker 14: I don't knit, Ron.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: Okay, here's another one. Celebrate your Italian heritage and have
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: a spaghetti stand right there.
- 1:14:14Speaker 14: Oh, that's too much work, Ron.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: That's a lot of work.
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: All right. I'm running out of ideas, folks.
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: I can't.
- 1:14:20Speaker 21: I don't want to do it now.
- 1:14:21Speaker 14: We're just going to do some signatures. I'll say hi.
- 1:14:24Speaker 5: Hi.
- 1:14:25Speaker 14: Do you want to sign our petition? And hopefully people
- 1:14:28Speaker 14: will sign.
- 1:14:29Speaker 21: I mean, Denise has done such a great job in
- 1:14:31Speaker 21: Mahoning County.
- 1:14:32Speaker 14: But the point is you can sign from every county,
- 1:14:35Speaker 14: and they do get a lot of traffic from elsewhere.
- 1:14:37Speaker 21: People come out from everywhere.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: Now, I really admire Denise and all she's done, so
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: I admire you and all you're doing.
- 1:14:44Speaker 8: Why?
- 1:14:44Speaker 2: And now you're going to take a Sunday afternoon and
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: you're going to go spend three or four hours doing that.
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: What motivates you to do something like that? I mean,
- 1:14:52Speaker 2: to give up your time to go say, I'm going
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: to go do this.
- 1:14:55Speaker 21: Well, I mean, if we don't do it, who's going
- 1:14:57Speaker 21: to do it, right?
- 1:14:58Speaker 14: I mean, there's only a handful of people that are
- 1:14:59Speaker 14: willing to do it. And we want it to volish.
- 1:15:03Speaker 14: We want it to volish because we know we can–
- 1:15:06Speaker 14: Pay for it another way, and we know that it's
- 1:15:08Speaker 14: not a money problem. It's a spending problem and a
- 1:15:11Speaker 14: fraud problem.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: Now, do you think you'll ever run for an office?
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: Do you think, because like I sit here and I say, well,
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: she should run for commissioner. I mean, I think you
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: do a really good job. I'm not saying that you
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: quit your job that you have and quit. I wouldn't
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: want you to do that because obviously you're doing well,
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: but I mean, you could quit it down the line,
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: but I mean, what did you ever, you should give
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: that some consideration. I think you would do a really
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: good job. I'm a big fan of Richard pharmacist. I'd
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: be a big fan of, of the boss lady. I would,
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: I would love to see, uh, well, G2, he'd have
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: to be president. He couldn't be anything lower than that.
- 1:15:54Speaker 21: But, uh, We could make him president.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: But that would mean he would have to come out
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: of his secret bunker and is on disclosed location. I
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: think he'd be very uncomfortable with that. But, yeah, you
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: should give it some consideration. When all these people talk, well,
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: you've still got a few good years left.
- 1:16:19Speaker 14: Yeah, you know, I've thought about it. What's hard for
- 1:16:23Speaker 14: me is I don't like all the..
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:16:26Speaker 21: I don't like all the party schmoozing, the this and
- 1:16:29Speaker 21: the that, right?
- 1:16:30Speaker 14: And that's, I would want just grassroots support.
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: You don't want the phoniness of it. Like, you see
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: all these people.
- 1:16:38Speaker 14: I hate that dog and pony show. I just can't
- 1:16:40Speaker 14: get into it. And I have to be passionate, enthusiastic
- 1:16:44Speaker 14: about it. That part is just so unattractive to me.
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: I'm in total agreement with you. Have you noticed when...
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: With the last primary, you see all these people, hey,
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: I'm down here at this event that I normally would
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: never be at, but I'm here acting like I'm loving
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: it here because I'm trying to get these people to
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: vote for me. Once you get elected, you never go
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: back to it unless it's time to get reelected. Stand by.
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: It's the boss lady on NewsRadio 570. I'll get back
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: to her right after this.
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKBN.
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: See, boss lady, I agree with you. All of the nonsense,
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: like I said in the last primary, you see these people,
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: I'm at this meeting, I never go here, but I'm
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: going here because I'm running for office and I want
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: to act like I want to be here and get
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: these people to vote for me. And then they would
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: never go there if they weren't running for office. There's
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: a phoniness about it all.
- 1:17:37Speaker 14: And there is so unattractive and it's just so phony fake.
- 1:17:42Speaker 14: And obviously I'm just very real and very down to earth.
- 1:17:46Speaker 14: I approach business the same way. I talk to my
- 1:17:48Speaker 14: employees the same way. And I don't know if, you know.
- 1:17:51Speaker 27: I could, I'm ready.
- 1:17:52Speaker 14: I could be ready. I could do those roles.
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:17:57Speaker 14: But I don't know if the county is ready for
- 1:18:01Speaker 14: what I would bring.
- 1:18:02Speaker 24: Right.
- 1:18:03Speaker 14: And that would be the concern. I'd be interested, but
- 1:18:07Speaker 14: my focus has been on budgeting, taxpayers, just common sense,
- 1:18:12Speaker 14: day-to-day government. So it's really not about me. It's really
- 1:18:16Speaker 14: about whether the people of the county are ready for
- 1:18:18Speaker 14: that kind of leadership and approach.
- 1:18:20Speaker 21: And sometimes I think they are, but a.
- 1:18:23Speaker 14: Lot of times I think they're not, because then you
- 1:18:25Speaker 14: look at some of the ways that they're voting on.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: Right. So- No, you're 100% right. But see, that's real.
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: What you said is absolutely real. I mean, I would
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: almost snicker at these people acting like they're happy to
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: be at these gatherings. And I thought, once again, you're
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: there because you're seeking votes. You'd not be there if
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: you weren't running for office. Everybody's great. What a great gathering.
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: and this kind of stuff. And it's just, it's like
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: a popularity contest. So, no, I'm with you 100%. But
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: even if you didn't go to the fish fry, I
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: would still vote for you, just so you know.
- 1:19:03Speaker 14: Thank you. I appreciate that.
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: Thank you, boss lady.
- 1:19:07Speaker 29: Sorry, Ron.
- 1:19:07Speaker 14: Have a good night.
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: I'd still... I think she'd do an excellent job. There's
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: some people, when you talk to them, you say, boy,
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: they'd do a really good job. But they don't like
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: some of the nonsense of politics, too. And I get it.
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: I get it. All right. Don't touch that dial. Ron
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: Furb from the Kingdom of Mahoning. More to come.
- 1:19:33Speaker 19: From ABC News, I'm Michelle Franzen.
- 1:19:36Speaker 11: President Trump maintains that Iran wants to finalize a deal,
- 1:19:40Speaker 11: even as the Pentagon confirmed it shot down Iranian drones
- 1:19:42Speaker 11: attempting to attack U.S. forces in Kuwait. The president brushing
- 1:19:46Speaker 11: off concerns it could jeopardize the ceasefire.
- 1:19:48Speaker 9: I'd say in that part of the world, ceasefires when
- 1:19:50Speaker 9: you're shooting.
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: In a more moderate manner.
- 1:19:53Speaker 11: ABC's Selina Wang has more on rising tensions and a
- 1:19:56Speaker 11: war that is dragging into a fourth month.
- 1:19:58Speaker 30: The president said this was going to be a four
- 1:20:00Speaker 30: to six week war. We have way blown past that deadline.
- 1:20:03Speaker 30: We're in this tenuous ceasefire, yet the U.S. and Iran
- 1:20:06Speaker 30: continue to exchange fire, not to mention the president for
- 1:20:10Speaker 30: weeks now has been saying that we're close. to a
- 1:20:13Speaker 30: deal with Iran. But we have seen lots of whiplash
- 1:20:15Speaker 30: starts and stops.
- 1:20:17Speaker 11: Primary races across states yesterday, including California, results for the
- 1:20:21Speaker 11: top two candidates in the mayoral race in L.A. are
- 1:20:24Speaker 11: still being tallied. ABC's political director Avery Harper has more.
- 1:20:27Speaker 27: When you look at the vote count, and at last check,
- 1:20:31Speaker 27: Karen Bass was at about 35 percent of the vote.
- 1:20:34Speaker 27: Spencer Pratt was just behind her at about 30. And
- 1:20:36Speaker 27: then that progressive councilwoman, Nithya Raman, she was at about
- 1:20:40Speaker 27: 22 percent of the vote. There's a little bit of
- 1:20:42Speaker 27: a quirk in California in that votes will still be
- 1:20:45Speaker 27: counted as long as they are postmarked by Election Day
- 1:20:48Speaker 27: and they are received within seven days of Election Day.
- 1:20:51Speaker 27: So it could be a while before we actually know
- 1:20:53Speaker 27: who is going to go up against Karen Bass.
- 1:20:55Speaker 11: The governor's race is also still undecided in that state.
- 1:20:59Speaker 11: New details on the hours-long standoff at a bank in Bakersfield, California,
- 1:21:03Speaker 11: that ended in the death of a suspect who said
- 1:21:05Speaker 11: he had a bomb. FBI Special Agent in Charge Sid
- 1:21:08Speaker 11: Patel identifying the suspect as Anthony Scott Searles Harris.
- 1:21:11Speaker 31: He was no stranger to law enforcement and has a
- 1:21:13Speaker 31: criminal history of using weapons to commit violent offenses. In 2014,
- 1:21:19Speaker 31: he was charged with sex acts with a child under 14.
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: He's a registered sex offender.
- 1:21:24Speaker 11: Police say the 10 hostages were released unharmed. You're listening
- 1:21:28Speaker 11: to ABC News.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: All right, have a good day. There he goes. 5.05,
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: NewsRadio 570, WKBN and RunVerb, 82 degrees, Wednesday, June 3rd.
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: With you until 6.30 tonight. You're on the air. Hello.
- 1:21:47Speaker 2: Come back to your phone.
- 1:21:49Speaker 10: I'm talking to you.
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: Hey, I'm talking to you.
- 1:21:52Speaker 7: Hey, I know. Listen, that caller a couple of callers ago,
- 1:21:57Speaker 7: he reminds me of an old grumpy man. There's no
- 1:22:00Speaker 7: trespassing signs in his yard. He yells at all little
- 1:22:04Speaker 7: kids that ride their bikes past. Lives in a closed mind.
- 1:22:08Speaker 7: You can tell a liberal. They're closed mind and they
- 1:22:11Speaker 7: talk over you. You gave him opportunity to speak. And
- 1:22:14Speaker 7: every time you try to have dialect, intelligent dialect, he
- 1:22:18Speaker 7: just starts speaking. And you can't have conversation with those people.
- 1:22:22Speaker 4: You can't.
- 1:22:23Speaker 7: I used to work for the company, fire company, that
- 1:22:26Speaker 7: put millions of dollars in the Samus plant, Bruce Mansfield plant.
- 1:22:32Speaker 7: They took the slurry. and he used a slurry to
- 1:22:36Speaker 7: make drywall, okay? And First Energy did their best to
- 1:22:40Speaker 7: keep up with the government, okay? But every time, this
- 1:22:43Speaker 7: guy don't understand, every time they had to do upgrades,
- 1:22:47Speaker 7: who paid for that? First Energy didn't pay for that.
- 1:22:51Speaker 7: They passed it on to us. And the problem is, yes,
- 1:22:55Speaker 7: you are right. These big corporations behind the scene, they're
- 1:22:59Speaker 7: behind it. These liberal wackos, they were behind the windmills,
- 1:23:03Speaker 7: and the new green energy deal.
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: But you're right.
- 1:23:06Speaker 7: There was no plan B. There's no plan B. So
- 1:23:10Speaker 7: now we have Samus. I don't understand. I haven't been
- 1:23:14Speaker 7: by Ron for a while. Someone told me it's completely
- 1:23:17Speaker 7: tore down.
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I– they were tearing it down. I
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: talked to a guy that's– so you saw firsthand all
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: the modifications that they did down there.
- 1:23:29Speaker 7: Just in power, just in upgrade power, putting the conveyors
- 1:23:35Speaker 7: in to get to the river for the barges, the slurry. Millions,
- 1:23:42Speaker 7: millions on both. We got to bid on both of
- 1:23:45Speaker 7: those jobs for nothing. And this grumpy old liberal, he
- 1:23:50Speaker 7: don't understand this.
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: Who paid for that? We paid for that.
- 1:23:55Speaker 12: First Energy don't pay.
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: For that stuff.
- 1:23:57Speaker 7: They pass it down to the consumer. And there was
- 1:24:00Speaker 7: no Plan B. I'm all for clean energy. I mean,
- 1:24:03Speaker 7: I don't want to pollute the air. There's no Plan B.
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but you were familiar with the plant. That plant
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: was updated down there. How do you pronounce it? Is
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: it Samus? Is that how you say it?
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: Samus, yeah.
- 1:24:15Speaker 7: We call it Samus, yeah.
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: I mean, so that plant had all the most modern
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: technology in it.
- 1:24:20Speaker 7: And the engineers were smart enough. They sat down at
- 1:24:27Speaker 7: the table.
- 1:24:27Speaker 4: What do we do with this waste slurry?
- 1:24:29Speaker 7: They made drywall.
- 1:24:32Speaker 6: They made drywall.
- 1:24:32Speaker 7: And we had to put miles and miles and miles
- 1:24:35Speaker 7: and miles of conveyor across these fields to get to
- 1:24:38Speaker 7: the river to go into the barges.
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: For the coal or the drywall?
- 1:24:46Speaker 7: For the slurry to make drywall.
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: And that is how they do make drywall. I wonder
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: how they're going to do that with the coal plants
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: going away.
- 1:24:54Speaker 10: I don't know.
- 1:24:55Speaker 7: You should ask your liberal. He probably has a plan
- 1:24:58Speaker 7: B sitting in his front yard yelling at the kids
- 1:25:00Speaker 7: with his new trespassing signs.
- 1:25:02Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? I mean, you listen to
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: these people.
- 1:25:06Speaker 7: Ron, I don't know how you sit there and listen
- 1:25:07Speaker 7: to these people.
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: But I mean, just from you being there, look at
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: that facility and look at how expensive it would be
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: to duplicate that today, to duplicate that. So it was
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: a facility that had all the most modern stuff on it.
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: And it was a coal plant that generated a ton
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: of power. And idiot politicians who know very little about
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: it regulated it out of business and insisted it be
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: torn down. And as they're tearing it down, they're selling
- 1:25:37Speaker 2: the major parts out of it to other countries that say...
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: I mean, they're taking out the generators. They're taking all
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: of this stuff out of there. And China and these
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: other countries are buying it.
- 1:25:50Speaker 5: So..
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: And then..
- 1:25:54Speaker 7: Remember Koppelstil over there?
- 1:25:57Speaker 4: Yes. Okay.
- 1:25:59Speaker 7: Our company put a $ 7 million furnace over there, okay?
- 1:26:03Speaker 7: Just back when traffic was in, you know. And he
- 1:26:05Speaker 7: fought and fought and fought to keep all his plants open, okay?
- 1:26:09Speaker 7: They tore the plant down. They shut the plant down.
- 1:26:12Speaker 7: They sold that furnace for $ 7 million to the Russians.
- 1:26:18Speaker 8: Yep, yep, yep, yep.
- 1:26:19Speaker 7: But on another note, you know, you think it was
- 1:26:21Speaker 7: sat down with the energy experts and with the people
- 1:26:25Speaker 7: that wants to make money with the windmills and the
- 1:26:27Speaker 7: green and sit down like intelligent people like a private
- 1:26:30Speaker 7: industry would do and go over and listen. We want
- 1:26:34Speaker 7: to incorporate this green deal stuff, but let's sit and
- 1:26:37Speaker 7: use our common sense. What is our plan B?
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:26:40Speaker 7: Do we back off a little bit at a time
- 1:26:43Speaker 7: with coal or subsidize the coal with green energy?
- 1:26:47Speaker 31: No.
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: No.
- 1:26:49Speaker 7: You've got these politicians that are in bed with these
- 1:26:52Speaker 7: stinking special interest groups, and they're all paid off. They're
- 1:26:56Speaker 7: all multi-multi-millionaires making $ 170, 000 a year. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:27:04Speaker 8: Who's the one who holds the back?
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: You and I. And Mr.
- 1:27:06Speaker 7: Liberal with no trespassing signs. You know what I'm saying? People,
- 1:27:10Speaker 7: liberals got to wise up, okay? We're all in this together.
- 1:27:14Speaker 7: There's no such thing as donkeys and elephants. We're all
- 1:27:16Speaker 7: in this together. You know what I'm saying? You go
- 1:27:19Speaker 7: to Russia. You go to China. You go to India.
- 1:27:23Speaker 14: They're polluting the air.
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: And they don't understand.
- 1:27:26Speaker 7: We don't live in a globe.
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: We don't live in our own little environment.
- 1:27:30Speaker 7: This stuff comes over here. You know, they tie our hands,
- 1:27:34Speaker 7: but they can pollute.
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: So, but..
- 1:27:38Speaker 7: All right, buddy, I don't know how you sit there
- 1:27:39Speaker 7: and listen to that. I just, God bless you. But, yeah,
- 1:27:44Speaker 7: they did put millions of dollars in both plants to
- 1:27:47Speaker 7: try to keep up, and First Energy tried. They kept
- 1:27:49Speaker 7: moving the goalpost, and they just couldn't do it anymore.
- 1:27:53Speaker 4: They shut them down.
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: It's a damn shame, isn't it? All their jobs are gone.
- 1:27:57Speaker 7: You know, good-paying jobs gone. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:28:01Speaker 7: And the truck drivers that brought the coal in, it's
- 1:28:04Speaker 7: a ripple effect. Just like when Lordstown closed down.
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: It's a ripple effect.
- 1:28:11Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying?
- 1:28:12Speaker 5: Yes, I do.
- 1:28:12Speaker 24: Oh, shut up.
- 1:28:13Speaker 4: I don't want to keep it happening. You have a
- 1:28:15Speaker 4: good evening, buddy.
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: Thank you. I appreciate your expertise. You're on the air.
- 1:28:19Speaker 22: Wow, that guy made a great point, huh?
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: Yeah, he made a lot of sense and a great point.
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: Now it's your turn, and we'll show people the exact
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: opposite of that. It's the unknown caller.
- 1:28:32Speaker 22: Well, I try to disappoint any time I can, Ron.
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: Well, that's fine. But, uh, Your wife has said that
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: about you for years.
- 1:28:39Speaker 22: The new green deal though you know um one time
- 1:28:42Speaker 22: i got into a discussion argument discussion with somebody um
- 1:28:47Speaker 22: because they refer like the new green deal and i
- 1:28:50Speaker 22: use g2' s statement as a rebuttal and it just shut
- 1:28:55Speaker 22: that thing down just shut their argument down where i
- 1:28:58Speaker 22: said uh He said, well, what about global warming? I said, well,
- 1:29:03Speaker 22: thank God for global warming. Otherwise, we'd be under a
- 1:29:05Speaker 22: mile of ice right now. And that just shut the
- 1:29:08Speaker 22: conversation down right there.
- 1:29:10Speaker 10: Thank you, G2.
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: Well, I'm sure he feels very, very glad about your
- 1:29:16Speaker 2: thanking him.
- 1:29:17Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:29:18Speaker 22: Hey, so who was on the radio yesterday? Was that
- 1:29:22Speaker 22: Ron Bell with all the UFO stuff?
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: Yeah, that's Art Bell's younger brother, Ron.
- 1:29:29Speaker 22: Ron, yeah, that's what I did. Replacement. You should have
- 1:29:32Speaker 22: him on, like, five days a week.
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: He's broadcasting live from Pahrump, Nevada, in the desert.
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 1:29:42Speaker 22: But, yeah, the chemtrail thing. You know, I woke up,
- 1:29:47Speaker 22: and I noticed, and I'm like, how many, you know,
- 1:29:49Speaker 22: you wake up, he said, like, 8 o'clock in the morning,
- 1:29:51Speaker 22: you look out in the sky, and there's all these
- 1:29:53Speaker 22: crisscross checkerboard chemtrails, and I'm I wake up and I
- 1:29:59Speaker 22: look up and I'm like, how many planes are flying
- 1:30:02Speaker 22: over my house right now? And pretty much his topic
- 1:30:08Speaker 22: could explain it if it's true. Why would they try
- 1:30:14Speaker 22: to change the environment of the Earth?
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know that. I've heard about
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: chemtrails for years, way up in the sky. He claims
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: they're trying to do it to... keep the planet cool.
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: And I can't answer that question. I don't know what
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: the answer to it is.
- 1:30:35Speaker 22: I also saw you guys were talking about the Voyager yesterday.
- 1:30:39Speaker 22: Voyager 1, Voyager 2.
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: I mean, I go back to that yesterday. I mean,
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: they release all these videos and I'm watching the videos
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: and it's like, this is the best footage you can
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: give me. I mean, some dot going in all these
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: different directions and that kind of stuff. Is it too
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: much to ask for? How about some clear footage of
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: something that looks like a spaceship or a UFO? I mean,
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: is it asking too much to see something that is
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: a little bit more distinguishable?
- 1:31:09Speaker 22: Well, I actually saw one that was really.
- 1:31:13Speaker 8: Clear.
- 1:31:14Speaker 22: And these two guys were talking, look at that, look
- 1:31:16Speaker 22: at that. And these three spaceships were flying over the
- 1:31:19Speaker 22: mountain together. and these F-14s or whatever were chasing it.
- 1:31:23Speaker 22: And then I scroll down, you know, you go kind
- 1:31:26Speaker 22: of to the site, and it says it was filmed
- 1:31:29Speaker 22: with a combat simulator, basically a video game, and they
- 1:31:34Speaker 22: put it on as real. You know, it was totally fake.
- 1:31:41Speaker 22: So why didn't the government provide us with, like, clear videos?
- 1:31:45Speaker 22: Because they're probably non-existent. I don't know. Do you believe
- 1:31:50Speaker 22: in him, Ron?
- 1:31:55Speaker 21: No.
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: I do not. I do not. Is it a possibility?
- 1:32:06Speaker 2: Anything's a possibility. Am I convinced?
- 1:32:09Speaker 32: No.
- 1:32:10Speaker 33: No.
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: I mean, do I think they... Like, they keep saying, well,
- 1:32:16Speaker 2: the government isn't going to tell you the truth because
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: they don't want you to know that we're not alone,
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: or people will panic and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: I don't know how you keep something like that a
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: secret for that long. I mean, with all the people
- 1:32:29Speaker 2: that would be involved in it. So, I'm not necessarily
- 1:32:32Speaker 2: buying it. I mean, I just don't... Hey, Ron, you.
- 1:32:36Speaker 22: Just kill everybody that says anything.
- 1:32:39Speaker 17: But..
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: Oh, okay. So what, they go out on a date
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: with Hillary Clinton? And next thing you know, they're missing
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: and dead. But, I mean, when people ask the question,
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: which is, it does intrigue me, well, how did the pyramids,
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: there's always a speculation that somehow some other type of processor,
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: some other type of beings were here to build the
- 1:33:00Speaker 2: pyramids because we didn't have the know-how or the technology
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: to do something like that. Well, that does make me
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: stop and think. I mean, I do think about that.
- 1:33:09Speaker 2: How were those pyramids built?
- 1:33:12Speaker 22: Or maybe they just had more slaves than you, Ron,
- 1:33:15Speaker 22: to push all these rocks. No, it's very intriguing, the pyramids.
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:33:20Speaker 22: But the woman that called yesterday, she said her boyfriend
- 1:33:25Speaker 22: was showing her all this stuff.
- 1:33:27Speaker 14: Yes.
- 1:33:28Speaker 22: She was, like, exposing everything. So you think that's going
- 1:33:32Speaker 22: to be her last call ever?
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: Yeah. I think they're going to come down and take
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: her away. I just, I think all of this stuff,
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: let me put it this way. I think the government
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: lies to you over a lot of stuff. I think
- 1:33:46Speaker 2: they've lied to you about Agent Orange in Vietnam. I
- 1:33:49Speaker 2: think they've lied to you about the Kennedy assassination. I
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: don't believe a lot of stuff the government tells you
- 1:33:57Speaker 2: at all. I think so much of it. I don't
- 1:33:59Speaker 2: believe the unemployment numbers. I don't believe the inflation numbers.
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: I think that they're skewed for politics. I think that
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: they're not accurate at all. whether they're Republicans or Democrats.
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: So how can you fix a problem if you don't
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: have accurate information? So I think that stuff skewed for politics.
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: So I think they basically skew a lot of stuff.
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: I mean, it's, I don't think Epstein committed suicide. I
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: don't think Lee Harvey Oswald was it when it came
- 1:34:25Speaker 2: to the Kennedy assassination. I think there's more to these
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: Trump assassinations and Charlie Kirk than meets the eye. And, uh,
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: I'm very suspicious of all of that stuff. And the
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: government has given me cause to question what they've told
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: me over the years time and time again. As I
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: go back, Victoria Nuland, we don't have bio labs in
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: the Ukraine. Oh, wait a minute. The Russians are all
- 1:34:48Speaker 2: coming into the Ukraine and they're going for the bio
- 1:34:50Speaker 2: labs to shut them down. Oh, well, we do have them.
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: So they were lying to us and then they had
- 1:34:55Speaker 2: to admit to it. I mean, so why should I believe?
- 1:34:59Speaker 2: I think Fauci's a gigantic liar and covering up the
- 1:35:02Speaker 2: whole COVID situation. I think COVID's a massive cover-up as
- 1:35:07Speaker 2: far as I'm concerned, massive cover-up. Fauci should be in jail.
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: And I think the Russian collusion thing with Hillary Clinton
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: and all of those people against Trump is a massive
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: government corruption and cover.
- 1:35:23Speaker 22: That leads me to the point, another successful thing that
- 1:35:29Speaker 22: Trump did with them coming after him so hard and
- 1:35:34Speaker 22: so frequently, he exposed the deep state. This is something,
- 1:35:38Speaker 22: you know, one of his accomplishments that nobody talks about,
- 1:35:41Speaker 22: but he brought all this to light. Like, I don't know,
- 1:35:44Speaker 22: 10 years ago, you wouldn't even believe all this was possible,
- 1:35:47Speaker 22: that they're going to, you know, bring all these lawsuits
- 1:35:51Speaker 22: against a former president, impeach him twice, go through his
- 1:35:55Speaker 22: wife's underwear drawer.
- 1:35:58Speaker 14: I mean..
- 1:35:59Speaker 22: I don't know how Democrats cannot see what happened during
- 1:36:04Speaker 22: that period and not say, oh, wow, yeah, there's a
- 1:36:08Speaker 22: deep state, and they're controlling the world.
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: I think there is a deep state. I genuinely do,
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: and I think there's a lot of evil out there.
- 1:36:25Speaker 23: In the world.
- 1:36:28Speaker 22: Definitely a lot of evil. The earlier caller, was that Frank?
- 1:36:32Speaker 22: Not Frank. Was that the guy with the robe and
- 1:36:37Speaker 22: the smoke?
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: Fifth Avenue, yes, it was.
- 1:36:41Speaker 22: Yeah, was that him?
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:36:43Speaker 22: And you try to counter him with saying, do you believe,
- 1:36:47Speaker 22: you know, women should be, I mean, men should be
- 1:36:49Speaker 22: in women's sports and the open border, and that's the.
- 1:36:53Speaker 28: One, correct?
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: Yes, yes.
- 1:36:55Speaker 22: Yeah, and he just wouldn't listen. He finally did listen,
- 1:36:58Speaker 22: and I admire him for that. And I like getting
- 1:37:01Speaker 22: all the views from all the different spectrums of the
- 1:37:07Speaker 22: political thing that's out there. On your show, it really
- 1:37:13Speaker 22: opens the eyes of a lot of people, and you
- 1:37:17Speaker 22: don't really hear that a lot anymore. Like, Fox News
- 1:37:21Speaker 22: is just totally, you know... republican and all the other
- 1:37:28Speaker 22: news agencies are just uh... left-wing media so your show
- 1:37:33Speaker 22: is pretty good with that.
- 1:37:36Speaker 5: But uh..
- 1:37:37Speaker 22: So he was saying that uh... you said you were
- 1:37:41Speaker 22: saying something about uh... the one democrat couldn't describe a
- 1:37:45Speaker 22: woman yes i have a uterus.
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: Listen to Youngstown's news, weather, and talk station, 570 WKBN.
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: And Ron Furb from the Kingdom of Mahoning at 525
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: here on a Wednesday afternoon. Gorgeous day. Always glad you
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: tuned in. It's 83 degrees and you're on the air.
- 1:38:07Speaker 14: Ronnie!
- 1:38:09Speaker 2: Vince from Austintown.
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: Ronnie, how long have we been friends? As long as
- 1:38:15Speaker 3: you've been employed by WKBN. Over 30-some years?
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: 41 years. 41 years, to be exact.
- 1:38:25Speaker 24: We've been through..
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: And you're... time here in the Valley, you saw the
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: Valley go from being, you know, coming back after the
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: steel mills closed, the reefs closed. comeback that we had,
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: and now, you know, you saw all the terrific politicians
- 1:38:43Speaker 3: that got booted out and all that other stuff, and
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: you survived all that. Maybe a suggestion, Ron, to help
- 1:38:51Speaker 3: the show get along a little better so we don't
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: have to wait three weeks to talk to you. Maybe
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: five minutes per call. Maybe one call a week from
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: the guy from Florida. You know, little things like that
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: help us get through the day. You know, when you
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: don't have a game, maybe he could come on. I
- 1:39:18Speaker 3: like G2. I think he's great for the show. He
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: gives ratings and everything. He's very knowledgeable.
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: Extremely.
- 1:39:25Speaker 3: I think Rich, the pharmacist, is very knowledgeable. Except for
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: that one time, Rich, listen up, isn't it?
- 1:39:31Speaker 4: It's not that I.
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: You know, I think you're a great guy and all that.
- 1:39:35Speaker 3: You're probably a wonderful pharmacist. But when those kids from
- 1:39:38Speaker 3: the smaller schools get a little ink in the paper,
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: you know, you shouldn't have talked about that.
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: I mean, these kids, they're not... They're not 6'5.
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: And 300 pounds, and they're not 6'2 and running back
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: going to Ohio State or a lineman going to Notre
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: Dame and stuff. They're going to colleges where they think
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: they can play at their size and weight.
- 1:39:59Speaker 4: Give them a little..
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: The Vindicator wants to put a little picture of them
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: in there.
- 1:40:02Speaker 4: Give them a little props.
- 1:40:03Speaker 3: I hope he understands. And then the other thing, Ronnie,
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: you know as well as I do, if we had...
- 1:40:14Speaker 3: the Senate and the House. We should be getting stuff done.
- 1:40:19Speaker 32: We should be getting..
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: Our representatives should be hounding the president. Hey, let's start
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: at least three new oral refineries on each coast, and
- 1:40:29Speaker 3: maybe two down in on the Gulf of America. The
- 1:40:35Speaker 3: only ones going up down there is the Indians building it,
- 1:40:38Speaker 3: not us.
- 1:40:39Speaker 20: India.
- 1:40:40Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:40:42Speaker 3: I think Don't you think maybe, you.
- 1:40:46Speaker 10: Know, I think that Mr.
- 1:40:48Speaker 3: Trump is doing the best he can and everything. I
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: do agree with some of the people. I don't agree
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: with everything he does. No, no. When he's wrong, he's wrong.
- 1:40:57Speaker 8: Him getting in this shooting war was wrong.
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: And what are we going to get out of it, Ronnie?
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: Are we going to get free passage? Are we going
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: to get some free oil for the next five years?
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: Didn't we save Iraq? And we saved those other countries
- 1:41:16Speaker 3: in the Gulf when we went in there, a desert storm, one, two, three.
- 1:41:20Speaker 3: We didn't take the oil. Everybody said, oh, you're going
- 1:41:22Speaker 3: in for the oil. We didn't take any of that oil,
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: did we, Ronnie?
- 1:41:25Speaker 2: No, we probably should have, though.
- 1:41:28Speaker 5: We should have, yes.
- 1:41:30Speaker 3: Did the victors go to spoils?
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: You got it.
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: We should have took like 20 years.
- 1:41:34Speaker 2: Gotta go.
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKV. Back to it.
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: We're with you till 6.30 tonight. Guardians pregame at 6.30
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: on News Radio 570 WKVN. Ron Perp from the Kingdom
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: of Mahoning. Until that time, on a gorgeous Wednesday afternoon.
- 1:41:50Speaker 2: It's just been terrific weather we've been having lately. After
- 1:41:53Speaker 2: all the rain that we've had for the longest period
- 1:41:55Speaker 2: of time, finally, finally, days and days without rain and
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: comfortable temperatures and sunshine. These are the days we live
- 1:42:04Speaker 2: for and long for. Around my neck of the woods, 535,
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: and you are on the air. Hello there.
- 1:42:11Speaker 4: Ron, how you doing?
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: I'm well, thank you. Go ahead.
- 1:42:13Speaker 28: I just want to make a quick comment. I think
- 1:42:16Speaker 28: Vince is right.
- 1:42:18Speaker 4: In what he just said.
- 1:42:20Speaker 28: Certain people that you can't.
- 1:42:22Speaker 8: Talk, it's like talking to a brick wall, okay?
- 1:42:25Speaker 4: I agree that G2 should.
- 1:42:28Speaker 28: Be on the intelligent people that have stuff to contribute
- 1:42:32Speaker 28: to your station. G2, Rich, and Bosley. I mean, and
- 1:42:38Speaker 28: if anybody else that calls in has, you know, smart.
- 1:42:41Speaker 4: Stuff to say.
- 1:42:43Speaker 28: But why waste people's time in talking to somebody that's.
- 1:42:46Speaker 8: Like talking to a brick wall? That's all I want
- 1:42:49Speaker 8: to say, Ron.
- 1:42:49Speaker 14: Have a good evening.
- 1:42:50Speaker 2: Well, I'll answer your question, and I'd be more than
- 1:42:52Speaker 2: happy to, because many people don't think people should have
- 1:42:56Speaker 2: any conversation or airtime if their opinion is differing than
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: what they believe in.
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: And..
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: That's just not how it is. I mean, that's usually
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: when people say, well, why do you let that guy
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: on or why do you let that guy talk? They
- 1:43:10Speaker 2: usually say that because they don't agree with that person's
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: thought or opinion. So I'm not I don't participate in
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: the where the Biden type mentality when they stricken somebody's
- 1:43:23Speaker 2: view because you disagree with their viewpoints. I just don't
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: agree with that. And I never have. And I haven't
- 1:43:31Speaker 2: done it in 41 years. It doesn't matter whether I
- 1:43:34Speaker 2: agree or disagree with you. I want to hear your
- 1:43:38Speaker 2: thoughts and your opinion and your comments and try to
- 1:43:41Speaker 2: understand why you think the way you do. So when
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: you say that kind of stuff, in a lot of cases,
- 1:43:50Speaker 2: like I say over the years, people just don't like
- 1:43:52Speaker 2: it when we have a conversation with somebody that has
- 1:43:55Speaker 2: a perhaps a liberal opinion or a different opinion than
- 1:43:59Speaker 2: they have. And I don't want the program ever to
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: become just an echo chamber of agreeing with all of
- 1:44:06Speaker 2: that kind of stuff. As I say, you saw that censorship.
- 1:44:10Speaker 2: I don't believe in that. You saw that censorship in COVID.
- 1:44:14Speaker 2: Only the people that agreed with the government scenario on
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: COVID The origins of COVID were allowed on social media.
- 1:44:20Speaker 2: They banned people that were other doctors and scientists that
- 1:44:24Speaker 2: had much differing opinions because they didn't want them to
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: have an opportunity to say what they thought. And ultimately,
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: they ended up being correct.
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: So..
- 1:44:36Speaker 2: Just because I might not have the same philosophy or
- 1:44:39Speaker 2: the same opinion doesn't mean that I'm not interested in
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: their philosophy or their opinion. Life's experiences are all different
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: for all of us. And it's perhaps some of that
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: that makes up our perspectives in life and why we
- 1:44:55Speaker 2: think the way we do and why we reach the
- 1:44:58Speaker 2: conclusions that we do. But just based on life's experiences
- 1:45:04Speaker 2: and how you were raised. So I'm not going to
- 1:45:10Speaker 2: restrict somebody's views along that way. Now, I will agree
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: with everybody. I mean, G2 is a very educational caller,
- 1:45:21Speaker 2: and that's why I have so many segments with him.
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: G2' s live in a bunker on a satellite phone, the
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: very mysterious G2. But he has a lot of wisdom
- 1:45:31Speaker 2: and life's knowledge and a background to explain things to
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: many people as to why what's going on. And, yeah.
- 1:45:40Speaker 2: I think it's worth listening to. That's why he's on.
- 1:45:43Speaker 2: That's why I have him on. I'm glad to hear
- 1:45:45Speaker 2: people appreciate all that he brings to the program because
- 1:45:47Speaker 2: I think he brings a lot to it. But just
- 1:45:52Speaker 2: because you don't agree with some of the other callers
- 1:45:56Speaker 2: because they have a different political philosophy, well, they're entitled
- 1:46:02Speaker 2: to their thoughts, too. You're on the air.
- 1:46:07Speaker 14: Hello.
- 1:46:08Speaker 5: Hello.
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: Hello?
- 1:46:10Speaker 31: Yes.
- 1:46:11Speaker 24: Hi, Ron.
- 1:46:12Speaker 28: Jim Dunlap here.
- 1:46:17Speaker 24: We met informally. I believe you stopped in at Handyman
- 1:46:21Speaker 24: Hardware in Austin Town.
- 1:46:22Speaker 14: Oh, yes.
- 1:46:23Speaker 2: Yes, I have.
- 1:46:24Speaker 24: Where I started working part-time recently after retiring from full-time
- 1:46:29Speaker 24: work three years ago.
- 1:46:30Speaker 2: I remember it quite well. I remember seeing you.
- 1:46:33Speaker 24: Some friends and colleagues of mine urged me to call
- 1:46:36Speaker 24: you briefly. This week, I'm running for chairman of the
- 1:46:43Speaker 24: Tomokai Republican Party. And as your comments a minute ago alluded,
- 1:46:51Speaker 24: you're not on the air to be partisan.
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: Well, no, I'm very partisan. I certainly have opinions, that's
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: for sure. But I'm not a neutral guy. But you're
- 1:47:01Speaker 2: running for the chairman of the Republican Party in Trumbull County.
- 1:47:05Speaker 24: Yeah, we have a quadrennial reorganization meeting tomorrow. tomorrow.
- 1:47:11Speaker 2: Did I read in the paper, is Denny Malloy running
- 1:47:16Speaker 2: for that, too?
- 1:47:18Speaker 24: Yeah, him and I are squaring off for that, yeah.
- 1:47:24Speaker 24: It's an extremely important election for Republicans in the county
- 1:47:28Speaker 24: because I believe it's going to determine the direction of
- 1:47:33Speaker 24: the county party for more than a four-year term. We're
- 1:47:37Speaker 24: probably looking at five to ten years uh... and uh... uh...
- 1:47:44Speaker 24: are uh..
- 1:47:45Speaker 29: Uh..
- 1:47:46Speaker 24: Precinct committee people have a very important decision to make
- 1:47:48Speaker 24: that's going to have a lot of effect going forward.
- 1:47:52Speaker 2: Why do you think they should vote for you versus denny.
- 1:47:56Speaker 24: Well first of all i'm i've been a true blue
- 1:48:00Speaker 24: republican for a long time served the party in numerous
- 1:48:02Speaker 24: capacities for umpteen years uh... denny on the other hand
- 1:48:08Speaker 24: to be frank uh... when democrats are always until uh..
- 1:48:14Speaker 2: Uh..
- 1:48:15Speaker 24: Twenty twenty two when he started uh... as i see
- 1:48:18Speaker 24: it pretending to be a republican general for the purpose
- 1:48:20Speaker 24: of running for public office and that's not the way
- 1:48:23Speaker 24: you're supposed to do things uh..
- 1:48:27Speaker 8: Uh..
- 1:48:31Speaker 24: It's a whole different tenor and uh... there in and
- 1:48:36Speaker 24: and a small group of of uh... let's say, all-about-themselves
- 1:48:43Speaker 24: people have been doing their own Republican thing separate and
- 1:48:46Speaker 24: apart from the party for years. And, you know, some
- 1:48:52Speaker 24: people would call that subversion. But in any case, I
- 1:48:57Speaker 24: just think I'm a much better fit and more loyal
- 1:49:01Speaker 24: to the party for honest reasons, and that I, together
- 1:49:07Speaker 24: with some good officers... will set a better direction for
- 1:49:12Speaker 24: the party in the next four years. Let's put it
- 1:49:15Speaker 24: that way.
- 1:49:17Speaker 2: Well, you've got to admire anybody that's willing to take
- 1:49:21Speaker 2: on that position. You don't get paid for that, do you?
- 1:49:24Speaker 17: No, no.
- 1:49:25Speaker 24: These are just volunteer positions. Actually, precinct committee people, even
- 1:49:32Speaker 24: though it's a publicly elected office, they're volunteer positions. There's
- 1:49:35Speaker 24: no pay involved. We do it because we believe in it.
- 1:49:42Speaker 24: And I just... I'll put it this way. I'm a
- 1:49:49Speaker 24: Republican because I'm a constitutional conservative, not the other way around.
- 1:49:54Speaker 24: I do it out of principle and very deep-seated beliefs.
- 1:50:01Speaker 24: I didn't join the party or run for... anything because
- 1:50:08Speaker 24: there was something in it for me. I did it
- 1:50:10Speaker 24: strictly out of a strong belief in what we stand
- 1:50:14Speaker 24: for and what we're trying to accomplish. There's credible reports
- 1:50:27Speaker 24: that Benny met with Kristen Rock, who's the Democrat nominee
- 1:50:34Speaker 24: for commissioner. off against Mike Hovis to beat Denny in
- 1:50:40Speaker 24: the recent primary at a local restaurant.
- 1:50:44Speaker 10: Just last week.
- 1:50:48Speaker 24: And eavesdroppers are reporting that they were basically strategizing on
- 1:50:52Speaker 24: how to beat Mike Hovis, the Republican, in November. So
- 1:50:56Speaker 24: you have to wonder, you know, what kind of a
- 1:50:58Speaker 24: Republican is that that would, you know, out of spite, obviously,
- 1:51:04Speaker 24: try to help the Democrat nominee against her Republican opponent
- 1:51:11Speaker 24: in the upcoming November election.
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I mean, if that's true, and I don't
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: know it is, you're saying that it is. If that's true,
- 1:51:20Speaker 2: that wouldn't reflect very good on a guy that wants
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: to be chairman of the party.
- 1:51:25Speaker 24: There are people that I trust and believe in who
- 1:51:28Speaker 24: have told me, yes, it's absolutely true.
- 1:51:31Speaker 4: It happened.
- 1:51:32Speaker 24: Eyewitnesses saw it. and supposedly eavesdroppers heard a little bit
- 1:51:37Speaker 24: of the conversation. That's just one example. I could go
- 1:51:43Speaker 24: on and on. Obviously, we don't have that kind of time.
- 1:51:47Speaker 24: But it's just I think I'm a much better example
- 1:51:54Speaker 24: of what a true Republican should be, and it would
- 1:51:58Speaker 24: be a better fit for the party and more welcoming
- 1:52:01Speaker 24: of Republicans of a broad base of Republicans at the
- 1:52:03Speaker 24: party rather than a tight, uh, yeah. Yeah.
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: Well, well, I wish you the best of luck. I
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: always give people a thumbs up. Well, and put themselves
- 1:52:17Speaker 2: out there. It's particularly when they're running for something that
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: doesn't pay just because they're committed to the organization of
- 1:52:23Speaker 2: the cause. I think it's admirable. So I'll give you
- 1:52:25Speaker 2: a thumbs up and, uh, wish you the best of luck.
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: I mean, it's, It's your calling, as they say, right?
- 1:52:35Speaker 4: Yes, yes.
- 1:52:36Speaker 24: One of them. My wife says I spread myself too thin,
- 1:52:40Speaker 24: which she's probably right. But I get involved in things.
- 1:52:45Speaker 24: I believe in my church. I'm in charge of archery ranges.
- 1:52:49Speaker 24: I buy in a fishing game and Republican Party and
- 1:52:57Speaker 24: Freemasonry and But anyway, you know, that's it. I get
- 1:53:01Speaker 24: involved in things I believe in, not because, you know,
- 1:53:03Speaker 24: there's something coming back benefit to me. And Republican parties won't.
- 1:53:11Speaker 22: Right.
- 1:53:11Speaker 2: Well, I got to give you– you got to admire that.
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: I just leave you with this. Keep in mind, life
- 1:53:16Speaker 2: is short. Make sure you don't get involved in so
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: much stuff that you're mis-enjoying life and living life because
- 1:53:22Speaker 2: it is– It's not forever, my friends. All right?
- 1:53:26Speaker 24: No, it's not.
- 1:53:28Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 1:53:28Speaker 24: I appreciate that. You're absolutely correct.
- 1:53:30Speaker 2: All right. Hang in there. Nice hearing you again.
- 1:53:33Speaker 10: All right.
- 1:53:33Speaker 2: You're on the air.
- 1:53:36Speaker 23: It's great that there are still people that have a
- 1:53:38Speaker 23: sense of community in our area. I was just thinking about,
- 1:53:42Speaker 23: you know, all the politicians of the past in Trumbull
- 1:53:45Speaker 23: County and Mahoning County and how they get remembered, but
- 1:53:49Speaker 23: it's amazing how the ones that are how so many
- 1:53:54Speaker 23: of them are remembered for the bad things that they
- 1:53:56Speaker 23: do and not the good things they do. And Jim Traffick,
- 1:54:00Speaker 23: it comes to mind, he did a lot of good things.
- 1:54:03Speaker 23: There's a lot of the 7-Eleven connector, all that stuff,
- 1:54:07Speaker 23: the buildings downtown that he championed that were never named
- 1:54:12Speaker 23: after him to spite him. It's just amazing how the
- 1:54:19Speaker 23: politics in our valley runs.
- 1:54:22Speaker 2: I think it's very sad, Jim Traffick. First of all,
- 1:54:25Speaker 2: I think Jim Traffick was probably one of the smartest
- 1:54:28Speaker 2: political figures in our community. And I think he was
- 1:54:32Speaker 2: an extremely intelligent man. And he did everything that you said,
- 1:54:37Speaker 2: the federal courthouses, the 7-Eleven connector, the Covelli Center, the
- 1:54:42Speaker 2: Air Base. I mean, you can actually see all this
- 1:54:46Speaker 2: stuff as a result of Traffick. And And the tragedy is,
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: as you have said, not a damn thing has his
- 1:54:52Speaker 2: name on it. And I think that that is sad.
- 1:54:57Speaker 2: The good news is I do disagree with you on
- 1:54:59Speaker 2: one point. I think the majority of people in the
- 1:55:01Speaker 2: community look at trafficking very favorably. And certainly if they've
- 1:55:06Speaker 2: been around, they know all that he has done for
- 1:55:09Speaker 2: the community more than certainly Tim Ryan did in his
- 1:55:12Speaker 2: long tenure and so more than any congressperson has done
- 1:55:16Speaker 2: since trafficking. He knew how to play the game, and
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: trafficking was a smart guy.
- 1:55:23Speaker 23: He could get people talking. I mean, he could get
- 1:55:25Speaker 23: opponents talking to each other to come to an agreement
- 1:55:29Speaker 23: to get a bill passed. And it was just amazing.
- 1:55:33Speaker 23: You know, I'd listen to him on the radio, and
- 1:55:35Speaker 23: they'd kick it in the clutch, and let's get down
- 1:55:38Speaker 23: the road here.
- 1:55:38Speaker 10: And do some good.
- 1:55:40Speaker 23: But, you know, it just amazes me. It amazes me
- 1:55:45Speaker 23: how that went down.
- 1:55:47Speaker 2: Well, he was one of a kind, but if you
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: go back to that time, I would say to you
- 1:55:50Speaker 2: we had a lot of better people in office. I mean,
- 1:55:57Speaker 2: I thought Pat Ungaro was a really, really good man.
- 1:56:03Speaker 2: Traffickant was an excellent congressman. I really liked George McKelvey
- 1:56:09Speaker 2: a great deal.
- 1:56:11Speaker 5: Uh..
- 1:56:11Speaker 23: George mckelvey he was a substitute teacher at my high
- 1:56:14Speaker 23: school i met him when i was maybe a junior
- 1:56:17Speaker 23: or senior and uh... i'll always remember you know he
- 1:56:21Speaker 23: always looked to me to be somebody that a very
- 1:56:24Speaker 23: likable person and uh... i haven't met him i've heard
- 1:56:27Speaker 23: him on your show since but i'm always taken back
- 1:56:30Speaker 23: that when he uh... taught at champion high school as
- 1:56:33Speaker 23: a substitute teacher for a.
- 1:56:34Speaker 2: While You know, I say time and time again, I mean,
- 1:56:38Speaker 2: George would sit here and he'd take calls, people would
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: have a complaint, he'd write it down, he'd go on
- 1:56:42Speaker 2: the phone and call and make sure it got dealt with.
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: And he just... he just seemed like he was a
- 1:56:50Speaker 2: public servant. You follow me? It's like, okay, this is
- 1:56:54Speaker 2: what it is. And Pat Anguero was very much that too.
- 1:56:57Speaker 2: I never got the sense of Pat Anguero was really
- 1:56:59Speaker 2: too stuck on himself or thought he was better or important.
- 1:57:02Speaker 2: And quite frankly, to be blunt with you, I never
- 1:57:04Speaker 2: got that impression from Jim Traffick in either. I mean,
- 1:57:06Speaker 2: I just, it seemed that they weren't, in all my
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: years with Traffick, he wasn't an egomaniac. Pat Anguero certainly
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: wasn't an egomaniac. George McKelvey was a public servant. So
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: you take a look at, I'm just trying to go through,
- 1:57:22Speaker 2: I think Ralph Meacham has those qualities today as auditor.
- 1:57:27Speaker 2: I just look at some of the people and I
- 1:57:32Speaker 2: think Dave Thomas is everything good about politics and is
- 1:57:37Speaker 2: a public servant. Unfortunately, I'll just leave it there.
- 1:57:43Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:57:44Speaker 23: The one thing I know is that looking back on
- 1:57:47Speaker 23: my life and The things that I've been into and
- 1:57:50Speaker 23: the opportunities that I've blown up on my own misbehavior
- 1:57:55Speaker 23: or whatever. My end result, end of my life, man,
- 1:58:01Speaker 23: I really could have done more with what I had
- 1:58:04Speaker 23: available to me and I blew the opportunity. And, you know, living,
- 1:58:09Speaker 23: you know, today and doing what I do and driving
- 1:58:12Speaker 23: down the road and being past retirement age and doing
- 1:58:17Speaker 23: this because it's a good buck and I enjoy it
- 1:58:19Speaker 23: and I'm not going to go sit at home and
- 1:58:20Speaker 23: do nothing. I just think that all of these politicians today,
- 1:58:26Speaker 23: they're going to look back and say, I could have
- 1:58:28Speaker 23: done more had I had a little bit more gravitas
- 1:58:31Speaker 23: or a little bit more gumption to put my foot down.
- 1:58:35Speaker 23: And that's what I think about Mr.
- 1:58:38Speaker 12: Thomas.
- 1:58:39Speaker 23: I met him at a fundraiser out in Champion when
- 1:58:43Speaker 23: the sheriff was running. But I think that he could
- 1:58:48Speaker 23: do more if he stood his ground a little bit
- 1:58:51Speaker 23: better and pushed the issues harder.
- 1:58:53Speaker 2: I think he's accomplished a great deal.
- 1:58:56Speaker 5: I do.
- 1:58:57Speaker 23: I really do.
- 1:58:58Speaker 2: Stand by. Just hang on a second.
- 1:59:00Speaker 10: Hang on.
- 1:59:00Speaker 2: I'll be right back to you in a minute.
- 1:59:02Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKBN. All right.
- 1:59:05Speaker 2: Ron Furb, Kingdom of Mahoning, 555 here on a Wednesday.
- 1:59:09Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:59:10Speaker 2: I think Dave Thomas is one of the hardest working
- 1:59:12Speaker 2: state reps that I've witnessed in 41 years here. I mean,
- 1:59:15Speaker 2: I don't know that. I mean, the thought that he
- 1:59:19Speaker 2: ran to be state rep because his auditories could see
- 1:59:22Speaker 2: what property taxes were doing to people, the fact that
- 1:59:24Speaker 2: he understands it and has championed all of these changes
- 1:59:28Speaker 2: that have benefited a lot of people, I think is
- 1:59:31Speaker 2: terrific for a guy that just... got elected. Would I
- 1:59:35Speaker 2: like to see him run for a higher office at
- 1:59:38Speaker 2: some point? I guess you go from state rep to
- 1:59:41Speaker 2: state senator. Do I think that I would like to
- 1:59:45Speaker 2: see him go further? Absolutely. If he has a desire to.
- 1:59:49Speaker 2: I mean, I'd absolutely like to see that happen, but
- 1:59:52Speaker 2: I'm very pleased with what he's doing so far.
- 1:59:54Speaker 5: As most, as all of us are.
- 1:59:56Speaker 23: I'm not trying to degrade him at all, but.
- 1:59:59Speaker 2: I just hope.
- 2:00:02Speaker 23: That his horizons expand, and he expects more and more,
- 2:00:07Speaker 23: because the little bit that he got done, it's substantial
- 2:00:11Speaker 23: what he did. What he's done for us so far
- 2:00:13Speaker 23: could have been a heck of a lot more, especially
- 2:00:17Speaker 23: with the property tax thing, trying to get..
- 2:00:23Speaker 2: Yeah, but I mean, he's not a king. He's got
- 2:00:26Speaker 2: to get it through, you know, he was able to
- 2:00:28Speaker 2: come up with it and get it through with the
- 2:00:30Speaker 2: Republicans voting for it. And the first time, the governor
- 2:00:33Speaker 2: vetoed all the stuff. So he had to do a
- 2:00:36Speaker 2: lot of it all over again.
- 2:00:37Speaker 5: I mean, I..
- 2:00:39Speaker 2: He is genuinely a public servant. I mean, he has
- 2:00:41Speaker 2: done stuff that will benefit every single property taxpayer in
- 2:00:48Speaker 2: the state. Everybody will benefit from what he has done.
- 2:00:52Speaker 2: And the sad part is a lot of people won't
- 2:00:54Speaker 2: even know it.
- 2:00:57Speaker 23: Personally, I don't like the exemptions. Because I still work
- 2:01:01Speaker 23: and I make too much money, I don't get the
- 2:01:04Speaker 23: Homestead Act and all that stuff.
- 2:01:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's income-based, so I get it.
- 2:01:12Speaker 23: I don't think it should be, though.
- 2:01:14Speaker 2: No, I agree with how they do it in Florida.
- 2:01:18Speaker 2: And it's not even age-based down there. The Olmstead exemption
- 2:01:22Speaker 2: is not age-based or income-based or anything. It just has
- 2:01:25Speaker 2: to be, you have to be a Florida resident to
- 2:01:28Speaker 2: get it. I mean, we have some of the highest
- 2:01:29Speaker 2: property taxes around in the state of Ohio, and I
- 2:01:32Speaker 2: think it's ridiculous. So I'm with you. I'm with you.
- 2:01:35Speaker 2: I mean, change has got to happen with it because
- 2:01:37Speaker 2: as time goes on, once again, they're going to price
- 2:01:40Speaker 2: people out of their homes and make it difficult for
- 2:01:42Speaker 2: people to buy a home because all of a sudden
- 2:01:45Speaker 2: you're saying, well, here's your payments and you've got to
- 2:01:48Speaker 2: have insurance if you have a loan. And by the way,
- 2:01:51Speaker 2: here's the property taxes. And all of a sudden you
- 2:01:53Speaker 2: start looking at. that big number for property taxes monthly,
- 2:01:57Speaker 2: it makes a payment shoot, shoot way up monthly. And
- 2:01:59Speaker 2: you just make it so people can't achieve the American dream.
- 2:02:02Speaker 2: And to me, that's bull crap.
- 2:02:05Speaker 23: That's that's I agree.
- 2:02:07Speaker 24: I agree.
- 2:02:07Speaker 2: Keep working. Keep hustling. I mean, you know, what do
- 2:02:10Speaker 2: they say? You stop moving, you start dying.
- 2:02:14Speaker 23: Hey, stop moving. They throw dirt on you.
- 2:02:16Speaker 2: There you go, man. So you're out there making a buck.
- 2:02:20Speaker 2: How old are you now?
- 2:02:20Speaker 14: 69.
- 2:02:23Speaker 23: I turned 69 in March.
- 2:02:25Speaker 2: But you're collecting your Social Security, right?
- 2:02:28Speaker 14: Right.
- 2:02:28Speaker 2: All right.
- 2:02:30Speaker 23: And as I keep on working every year, my Social
- 2:02:32Speaker 23: Security check goes up.
- 2:02:34Speaker 2: That's right. Because you keep paying into it. Good for you.
- 2:02:37Speaker 10: Right.
- 2:02:38Speaker 2: I'm glad to hear it. Do you think you'll quit
- 2:02:40Speaker 2: working at 70?
- 2:02:42Speaker 23: I'll quit working when they don't let me in the
- 2:02:44Speaker 23: truck anymore.
- 2:02:46Speaker 2: Hey, man, it's a joy talking to you. Thanks for calling.
- 2:02:48Speaker 2: I appreciate it.
- 2:02:54Speaker 19: From ABC News, I'm Michelle Franzen.
- 2:02:57Speaker 11: For the first time since the war with Iran began,
- 2:03:02Speaker 11: House lawmakers passing a War Powers Resolution to limit President
- 2:03:05Speaker 11: Trump's use of U.S. forces without a declaration of war
- 2:03:08Speaker 11: or authorization. That vote, symbolic, but shows a growing number
- 2:03:12Speaker 11: of Democrats and Republicans now who don't agree with the
- 2:03:15Speaker 11: president's handling of the war now in its fourth month.
- 2:03:18Speaker 11: President Trump telling reporters he believes a deal with Iran
- 2:03:21Speaker 11: is getting closer and brushed off concerns that the ceasefire
- 2:03:24Speaker 11: won't hold after the Pentagon shot down Iranian drones targeting U.S.
- 2:03:28Speaker 11: forces in Kuwait.
- 2:03:30Speaker 9: We could go another two, three weeks and just wipe
- 2:03:34Speaker 9: everybody out. I'd rather not do that. Very easy to do.
- 2:03:37Speaker 2: They're ready to do it. They want to do it.
- 2:03:40Speaker 2: They want to do it.
- 2:03:41Speaker 9: But if we can get something done in writing which
- 2:03:44Speaker 9: will accomplish the same thing without killing everybody, I'd like
- 2:03:46Speaker 9: to do that.
- 2:03:47Speaker 11: In the wake of another Supreme Court decision that weakened
- 2:03:50Speaker 11: parts of the Civil Rights Act, justices issued a decision
- 2:03:53Speaker 11: today in an Alabama case allowing the state to use
- 2:03:56Speaker 11: a 2023 congressional map for midterms elections. California's primary race
- 2:04:02Speaker 11: for the L.A. mayor is still being tallied. Incumbent Karen
- 2:04:05Speaker 11: Bass receiving enough votes to move on to November's runoff election.
- 2:04:10Speaker 11: But Republican Spencer Pratt leads other candidates to become the
- 2:04:13Speaker 11: opposing candidate. ABC political director Avery Harper has more.
- 2:04:16Speaker 27: It is a warning shot to Karen Bass, the fact
- 2:04:18Speaker 27: that she has to go to a runoff at all.
- 2:04:21Speaker 27: It hasn't been for, you know, at least a couple
- 2:04:23Speaker 27: of decades that an incumbent mayor in Los Angeles has
- 2:04:26Speaker 27: had to go to a runoff because they did not
- 2:04:28Speaker 27: clear that 50 percent threshold.
- 2:04:30Speaker 1: And we know this is all coming amid war.
- 2:04:32Speaker 27: Widespread criticism of Karen Bass's handling of those fires in
- 2:04:36Speaker 27: LA that just devastated parts.
- 2:04:37Speaker 2: Of the city.
- 2:04:38Speaker 11: The governor's race also still undecided. Excitement is building for
- 2:04:41Speaker 11: game one of the NBA finals. The San Antonio Spurs
- 2:04:44Speaker 11: hosting the New York Knicks tip off now just a
- 2:04:46Speaker 11: few hours away.
- 2:04:47Speaker 19: It's a repeat of.
- 2:04:48Speaker 11: The 1999 finals between both teams. You're listening to ABC News.
- 2:04:55Speaker 1: WKBN.com.
- 2:04:56Speaker 2: And we're back at it. News Radio 570 WKBN. We're
- 2:04:59Speaker 2: on verb 605 with you right up until 630 tonight.
- 2:05:04Speaker 2: Then after the headlines, the Guardians pregame here on News
- 2:05:09Speaker 2: Radio 570 WKBN.
- 2:05:10Speaker 24: Welcome.
- 2:05:10Speaker 2: You're on the air.
- 2:05:12Speaker 16: Hey, Ryan.
- 2:05:13Speaker 12: J.J.
- 2:05:13Speaker 4: The liberal. Which name is right. I'm as guilty as
- 2:05:17Speaker 4: anybody that kind of drags on our conversations, and I
- 2:05:20Speaker 4: don't give anybody an opportunity to..
- 2:05:21Speaker 2: That's nonsense. I mean, that's absolute nonsense. I wouldn't even
- 2:05:25Speaker 2: address it. It's okay.
- 2:05:27Speaker 4: I mean, you give me an opportunity almost every day,
- 2:05:31Speaker 4: and people are sitting online and waiting, and I can
- 2:05:32Speaker 4: understand their frustration. And I've been online right now for...
- 2:05:37Speaker 4: You know, I missed you when you came on. Thank
- 2:05:39Speaker 4: God you just put me on hold a little bit earlier,
- 2:05:42Speaker 4: and I walked away from the phone for a moment. But, no,
- 2:05:45Speaker 4: it's okay. I mean, it really is. You know, sometimes
- 2:05:49Speaker 4: I can call and not bring anything to the conversation,
- 2:05:52Speaker 4: but there's times that I think I do. But they
- 2:05:55Speaker 4: are right. There's some people that do want to make
- 2:05:57Speaker 4: points and have definitely concerns and questions. And, you know,
- 2:06:01Speaker 4: when there's individuals like me or some other people that uh,
- 2:06:05Speaker 4: can kind of drag things on. Uh, that's why I
- 2:06:08Speaker 4: don't really apologize. I'm not apologizing. I'm just going to
- 2:06:10Speaker 4: be very more aware of my, the time can kind
- 2:06:13Speaker 4: of time constraints. And, but I always appreciate you giving me,
- 2:06:16Speaker 4: you know, that, um, that time, you know, it's, it's always, uh,
- 2:06:19Speaker 4: you've always been good to me. And, um, how are
- 2:06:23Speaker 4: you doing today?
- 2:06:23Speaker 2: I am doing well. Well, you make a contribution, uh, uh,
- 2:06:27Speaker 2: to the broadcast. See people don't, people don't understand that
- 2:06:30Speaker 2: kind of stuff. It's like, uh, JJ has, listen, I'll
- 2:06:36Speaker 2: be the first one to say JJ calls it like
- 2:06:38Speaker 2: he sees it. Sometimes he agrees with the liberal philosophy
- 2:06:42Speaker 2: and sometimes he disagrees with it. So I don't have a,
- 2:06:47Speaker 2: at least he's honest with himself and everybody else.
- 2:06:51Speaker 3: I mean.
- 2:06:52Speaker 2: There's no rule in the world that says you have
- 2:06:54Speaker 2: to think like everybody else. It's insane.
- 2:06:57Speaker 4: No, I don't. I don't even think like the Democrats.
- 2:06:59Speaker 4: I'm actually a black sheep of the Democrats, to be
- 2:07:03Speaker 4: honest with you. Some of them don't even even... Emmanuel
- 2:07:06Speaker 4: was called recently and has a disagreement with me almost
- 2:07:08Speaker 4: every time he's called in.
- 2:07:10Speaker 7: In a way, that is..
- 2:07:11Speaker 4: I'm not trying to rock the boat. I'm not trying
- 2:07:14Speaker 4: to upset anybody, but I don't need anybody who is even...
- 2:07:20Speaker 4: meaning my way to agree with you. There's something wrong there.
- 2:07:24Speaker 4: I actually looked at some of the broadcasts last night.
- 2:07:28Speaker 4: I'm going on Sundays to start selling my artwork at
- 2:07:32Speaker 4: Flea Market, and I was getting things prepared to last night,
- 2:07:35Speaker 4: and I was just listening to some of the..
- 2:07:36Speaker 2: Are you serious? Now, what Flea Market are you going
- 2:07:39Speaker 2: to be at?
- 2:07:40Speaker 4: Four Seasons. Right outside Youngstown. What's her name was talking about?
- 2:07:46Speaker 4: I think it was Boss Lady.
- 2:07:47Speaker 2: Are you going to be there the same time she'll
- 2:07:49Speaker 2: be there?
- 2:07:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll be, I have to set up by like,
- 2:07:52Speaker 4: I have to be there by six o'clock in the
- 2:07:54Speaker 4: morning to set up for opening at eight. And I
- 2:07:56Speaker 4: got a a tent and everything. I'm just going to
- 2:07:58Speaker 4: start to see if my artwork shows a little bit.
- 2:08:00Speaker 4: I'm going to try to push it toward younger people
- 2:08:03Speaker 4: because it's kind of a lot of stuff that has,
- 2:08:06Speaker 4: I can't even speak fluorescent. uh stuff that they might
- 2:08:11Speaker 4: want to hang in their rooms a lot of space
- 2:08:12Speaker 4: type of spray paint work and and just trying to
- 2:08:15Speaker 4: see if i can make some people happy and and
- 2:08:17Speaker 4: it'll make me happy kind of and now i'm only
- 2:08:19Speaker 4: going to be selling most of my stuff under ten
- 2:08:20Speaker 4: dollars and i just want to see if i'm i
- 2:08:23Speaker 4: vote you know i can make a little couple extra
- 2:08:25Speaker 4: dollars since times are tough right now to help my
- 2:08:27Speaker 4: family out and and i'm just going to see and
- 2:08:29Speaker 4: i'm going to go over and say hi to her
- 2:08:31Speaker 4: and and introduce myself to her and um but it
- 2:08:34Speaker 4: um If anybody comes by, don't throw anything at me.
- 2:08:40Speaker 4: But nonetheless, I was listening to a conversation we had
- 2:08:44Speaker 4: on April 17th, and I was really mean. I was
- 2:08:48Speaker 4: talking about how people think that I don't like... I'm
- 2:08:52Speaker 4: not an American, and I was really just... I'm listening
- 2:08:55Speaker 4: to myself sometimes. I'm embarrassed. And I just said, you know,
- 2:08:58Speaker 4: why did I act like that? And I hung up
- 2:08:59Speaker 4: on you. And I was also hearing about... You know,
- 2:09:03Speaker 4: those emails that I sent you about a year and
- 2:09:05Speaker 4: a half ago, I want to apologize again for that
- 2:09:08Speaker 4: because that wasn't me. And I really treated you like
- 2:09:11Speaker 4: crap and saying about how you haven't seen the best.
- 2:09:14Speaker 4: You know, I just was angry. And I'm sorry for that.
- 2:09:20Speaker 2: Listen, people have a right to lose their. to have
- 2:09:25Speaker 2: passion and lose their cool once in a while. You
- 2:09:27Speaker 2: can't get all bent up and worked out of it.
- 2:09:29Speaker 4: You know, my brother told me that. He said, you're
- 2:09:31Speaker 4: pushing people away.
- 2:09:33Speaker 7: I think recently I've been better, and I think people
- 2:09:36Speaker 7: have been receptive, a little bit more receptive, but I'm
- 2:09:39Speaker 7: not going to please everybody, and they're going to have
- 2:09:41Speaker 7: their opinion about me no matter what, and that's okay.
- 2:09:44Speaker 7: And I'm going to have my small prejudices, too.
- 2:09:48Speaker 2: Well, you're entitled to it. Listen, it's your opinion. You're
- 2:09:51Speaker 2: entitled to it. But as I go back, make sure
- 2:09:55Speaker 2: when you're over at the thing, you go see the
- 2:09:58Speaker 2: boss lady. Make sure you go over and say hello
- 2:10:00Speaker 2: to her.
- 2:10:00Speaker 4: Well, she deserves it. It matters, but I just would
- 2:10:03Speaker 4: like to introduce myself to her because I've listened to
- 2:10:06Speaker 4: her and it's... It would be nice to meet people
- 2:10:10Speaker 4: that think differently from me, and it's a good way
- 2:10:14Speaker 4: to bring both sides together. I try to do that,
- 2:10:17Speaker 4: and if I can, then maybe I can have some input.
- 2:10:20Speaker 4: But I just wanted to give you a call and
- 2:10:22Speaker 4: let you know that I'll be more aware of it.
- 2:10:23Speaker 4: And I thank you again for everything you do. My friend,
- 2:10:28Speaker 4: you're a better person.
- 2:10:32Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 2:10:32Speaker 2: Thank you. I appreciate that. There you go. You're on
- 2:10:35Speaker 2: the air.
- 2:10:36Speaker 4: Ronnie, baby. Ronnie, baby.
- 2:10:38Speaker 2: You got him. You got him. You got him.
- 2:10:40Speaker 4: Hey, I don't know.
- 2:10:43Speaker 32: I just want to make mention of one thing that
- 2:10:47Speaker 32: I've heard so many times over the last three power
- 2:10:53Speaker 32: switches in Congress and the Senate. And every time I
- 2:10:57Speaker 32: hear Chuck Schumer stand up and say that, you know,
- 2:11:01Speaker 32: we have to shore up Social Security because people are
- 2:11:03Speaker 32: living longer, what I really hear him saying is, people
- 2:11:08Speaker 32: are just living too damn long. That's what I hear
- 2:11:11Speaker 32: him saying. And for that order, I'm.
- 2:11:16Speaker 10: Going to offer up my utmost.
- 2:11:18Speaker 32: Respect and my highest praise. My mother, who just passed
- 2:11:25Speaker 32: at the age of 93, and she was sticking it
- 2:11:29Speaker 32: to Uncle Sam for the last 30 years. And I say,
- 2:11:32Speaker 32: God bless her.
- 2:11:36Speaker 2: She was sticking it to Uncle Sam? How was she
- 2:11:38Speaker 2: doing that?
- 2:11:39Speaker 32: Social security, man. She was one of those people living
- 2:11:43Speaker 32: too damn long.
- 2:11:44Speaker 2: You know what? Listen, there's plenty of people that pay
- 2:11:49Speaker 2: into it that never make it to the age to
- 2:11:51Speaker 2: where they can collect it. I mean, when they tell
- 2:11:55Speaker 2: you about all of this kind of stuff, as I say,
- 2:11:58Speaker 2: God laughs at people who make plans because tomorrow isn't
- 2:12:03Speaker 2: promised to... to anybody and there's people that never collect
- 2:12:08Speaker 2: social security there's people that collect it and die a
- 2:12:12Speaker 2: year or two or three later and so there's people
- 2:12:15Speaker 2: that are lucky enough to collect it for 20 or
- 2:12:17Speaker 2: 30 years as well and so I'm happy for your
- 2:12:23Speaker 2: mother and it probably wasn't a whole bunch of money
- 2:12:26Speaker 2: I mean what most people collect on social security monthly
- 2:12:29Speaker 2: isn't very much money it just isn't do you remember
- 2:12:32Speaker 2: what your mother got a month.
- 2:12:35Speaker 32: Yeah, she was getting a partial benefit from my father
- 2:12:38Speaker 32: who passed.
- 2:12:40Speaker 4: About five years ago.
- 2:12:43Speaker 32: And going on five and a half. Between the two
- 2:12:48Speaker 32: of them, I think they were getting less than $ 3, 000
- 2:12:52Speaker 32: a month.
- 2:12:53Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:12:54Speaker 32: Because they didn't make much money toward the end. My
- 2:12:58Speaker 32: dad's maxes were all back when he was hanging siding.
- 2:13:01Speaker 2: Right, but if you back up, when he passed, how
- 2:13:04Speaker 2: much did your mother get a month?
- 2:13:08Speaker 32: Toward the end, she was probably only getting about $ 2, 300.
- 2:13:11Speaker 2: Right. That's not a lot.
- 2:13:15Speaker 32: That's rent, groceries, and a car payment and a hairdo.
- 2:13:21Speaker 3: Right.
- 2:13:21Speaker 2: I mean, you're not going to live grand on Social Security.
- 2:13:25Speaker 2: I mean, it's... If you... It's just not a lot
- 2:13:34Speaker 2: of money. Let's just put it that way. So if
- 2:13:36Speaker 2: she collected $ 2, 000 or $ 2, 500 for however long she did
- 2:13:40Speaker 2: a month, well, God bless her for doing it. I'm
- 2:13:43Speaker 2: going to tell you something. I don't regret a single
- 2:13:47Speaker 2: dime I ever paid into Social Security during my working life.
- 2:13:51Speaker 2: And I heard the same thing when I was a
- 2:13:53Speaker 2: young man. Oh, it's not going to be there when
- 2:13:54Speaker 2: you get to be an old guy. Well, it's here,
- 2:13:57Speaker 2: and I became an old guy. And Social Security would
- 2:14:00Speaker 2: be around when my son becomes an old person as well.
- 2:14:05Speaker 2: It would still be there.
- 2:14:06Speaker 32: Yeah, they're never going to let go of that money.
- 2:14:09Speaker 32: And if they ever do away with Social Security, they'll
- 2:14:12Speaker 32: just call it something else, and they'll keep collecting the tax.
- 2:14:15Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:14:16Speaker 32: They're never going to let go of that money. Now
- 2:14:18Speaker 32: that they can touch it, they'll never let it go.
- 2:14:27Speaker 2: All right, so it's got to keep on going. Listen,
- 2:14:35Speaker 2: you get me on a topic that I'm just passionate
- 2:14:38Speaker 2: about because I'm going to tell you what really just
- 2:14:40Speaker 2: frustrates the living hell out of me. We give billions
- 2:14:43Speaker 2: of dollars to all of these other countries, billions of
- 2:14:46Speaker 2: dollars to Egypt, billions of dollars to Israel, billions of
- 2:14:49Speaker 2: dollars to all of these countries. And when I hear
- 2:14:52Speaker 2: people talk about the economics of Social Security and Medicare
- 2:14:56Speaker 2: are not good. And first and foremost, let's stop all
- 2:14:59Speaker 2: the fraud in Medicaid and Medicare. You've got to stop that.
- 2:15:03Speaker 2: With that being said, once that stops, once that's stopped,
- 2:15:11Speaker 2: let's put some money into it. There isn't a law
- 2:15:14Speaker 2: against putting some of our tax dollars into it to
- 2:15:17Speaker 2: bolster the system. If you get Social Security, you worked
- 2:15:21Speaker 2: and you paid into it. So it's an earned benefit.
- 2:15:28Speaker 2: I want it to stay healthy. I'm sick and tired
- 2:15:32Speaker 2: of giving all this money to, I don't care if
- 2:15:34Speaker 2: it's Ukraine or what this war is costing us in Iran.
- 2:15:38Speaker 2: When are we going to take care of our people?
- 2:15:41Speaker 2: And they say, what, you got 10 years on Medicare
- 2:15:44Speaker 2: and 10 years on Social Security? Well, I'm the first
- 2:15:47Speaker 2: guy saying, I'm against raising the age because the full
- 2:15:51Speaker 2: retirement age is now 67 years. So I'm against changing
- 2:15:56Speaker 2: the retirement age, making it older, because the only goal
- 2:15:59Speaker 2: in that is to say, oh, let's make the full
- 2:16:01Speaker 2: retirement age 70. The only goal in that is hoping
- 2:16:04Speaker 2: that you die before you ever get a chance to
- 2:16:06Speaker 2: collect it. I am totally opposed to changing the retirement
- 2:16:09Speaker 2: age at all. They think it's their money. Yeah, it's
- 2:16:14Speaker 2: old enough at 67, and not everybody is living longer.
- 2:16:20Speaker 2: So I'm tired of the politicians trying– trying to do
- 2:16:23Speaker 2: something like that. So I'm against changing the age of it.
- 2:16:27Speaker 2: And I understand, obviously, if you retire at 62, 63,
- 2:16:30Speaker 2: or 64, if you retire earlier, you get substantially less
- 2:16:33Speaker 2: than at your full retirement age. So, I mean, I'm
- 2:16:36Speaker 2: not opposed to that at all. I'm not opposed to
- 2:16:40Speaker 2: Medicare when you get 65 and going on Medicare. It's
- 2:16:43Speaker 2: a great insurance program. And as far as the financial
- 2:16:46Speaker 2: problems go, I say let's support... the program by giving
- 2:16:52Speaker 2: additional dollars, if we have to, through all the money
- 2:16:56Speaker 2: that we give away. And I don't believe that the politicians...
- 2:17:00Speaker 2: I just think the politicians are such lowlifes that if
- 2:17:04Speaker 2: they do that, they'll say, well, we're going to do that,
- 2:17:06Speaker 2: but we're going to change the retirement age to 70. Meanwhile,
- 2:17:09Speaker 2: their retirement age isn't 70, and they can retire with
- 2:17:14Speaker 2: their government program much sooner than that. So... I'm passionate
- 2:17:20Speaker 2: about Social Security, and I think you are too. I mean,
- 2:17:23Speaker 2: as I said, I'm not opposed to any money I've
- 2:17:25Speaker 2: ever paid in Social Security. The vast majority of money
- 2:17:28Speaker 2: I paid in went out to current retirees. You follow me?
- 2:17:32Speaker 2: So what I paid in went out to my mother
- 2:17:34Speaker 2: and your mother and all of that kind of stuff.
- 2:17:37Speaker 2: There's very little additional that would go into the fund
- 2:17:42Speaker 2: for the baby boomer bump. Social Security is not supposed
- 2:17:44Speaker 2: to have a surplus What I pay in goes out
- 2:17:48Speaker 2: to current retirees.
- 2:17:50Speaker 21: Now they have.
- 2:17:52Speaker 2: That surplus to get the baby boomers through it. Well,
- 2:17:56Speaker 2: I want to see it continue on. I want my
- 2:17:58Speaker 2: children to be able to retire at 62 or 67
- 2:18:00Speaker 2: if they choose to. And this idea that you can
- 2:18:06Speaker 2: work till you're 70, well, that depends what you do.
- 2:18:09Speaker 2: Tell that to a roofer that he can work till
- 2:18:11Speaker 2: he's 70. Tell that to a carpenter. I mean, when
- 2:18:14Speaker 2: you do some of these jobs that are very physical jobs,
- 2:18:19Speaker 2: can you make it to 70? Tell that to a
- 2:18:21Speaker 2: cop who's got to chase some young kid down the
- 2:18:23Speaker 2: street or whatever. Oh, you can do that till you're 70.
- 2:18:26Speaker 2: Or a fireman. Or any type. You know what.
- 2:18:29Speaker 4: Roofers do for the last five years till retirement?
- 2:18:32Speaker 3: What?
- 2:18:33Speaker 4: They drive the tool truck.
- 2:18:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:18:34Speaker 31: Yeah.
- 2:18:36Speaker 2: I mean, obviously, if you've got a desk job or
- 2:18:40Speaker 2: a sit-down job, it's much different than somebody that does
- 2:18:47Speaker 2: something physical on a day-to-day basis. Because your body does
- 2:18:50Speaker 2: deteriorate and change as you grow older.
- 2:18:53Speaker 4: It sure does.
- 2:18:54Speaker 32: And I say, God bless you, Ron. God bless your family.
- 2:18:58Speaker 32: And I pray that you live long enough to stick
- 2:19:01Speaker 32: it to Uncle Sam for 50 years.
- 2:19:03Speaker 31: Yeah.
- 2:19:06Speaker 2: I continue to pray that. I would like to see
- 2:19:08Speaker 2: that happen soon.
- 2:19:09Speaker 4: I would love to hear a cowbell on now.
- 2:19:12Speaker 2: Wait a minute. It's in the back of the studio.
- 2:19:14Speaker 2: I'm not even going to reach back.
- 2:19:16Speaker 32: All you got to do is lift your right leg, right?
- 2:19:21Speaker 2: Well, that's no cowbell there, buddy. All right. Thanks for
- 2:19:28Speaker 2: your call. I appreciate it. When people talk about Social Security,
- 2:19:32Speaker 2: I mean, that's really... Earned benefits never disturb me. Listen,
- 2:19:39Speaker 2: I even understand people fall on hard times. I'm not
- 2:19:41Speaker 2: opposed to some relief programs. They just shouldn't be forever.
- 2:19:47Speaker 2: I mean, I understand, for example, when we talk about Medicaid,
- 2:19:52Speaker 2: Medicare's for the elderly, Medicaid's, I understand that that's got
- 2:19:56Speaker 2: to be there because a lot of times if somebody
- 2:19:58Speaker 2: gets sick and they go to a nursing home, that
- 2:20:02Speaker 2: when time is done, you know, when they're done, With
- 2:20:08Speaker 2: all their income and money, what do you do? Well,
- 2:20:10Speaker 2: they go on Medicaid. I mean, these damn nursing homes
- 2:20:13Speaker 2: are so expensive. And I'm trying to figure that out, too.
- 2:20:17Speaker 2: They don't pay the help at these nursing homes nearly
- 2:20:19Speaker 2: enough money. I mean, the people that work at these
- 2:20:22Speaker 2: nursing homes, it's a difficult environment if you're in skilled
- 2:20:26Speaker 2: nursing or any of these nursing places. You can get
- 2:20:29Speaker 2: attached to some of these people and then they die.
- 2:20:33Speaker 2: They don't have enough staff for the number of patients
- 2:20:36Speaker 2: that they have, and it's a very difficult job emotionally
- 2:20:39Speaker 2: and physically. And they just don't pay them enough money.
- 2:20:43Speaker 2: Yet what the patient has to pay or the family
- 2:20:45Speaker 2: has to pay or the person that's in the nursing
- 2:20:47Speaker 2: home is tremendous. The amount of money is just phenomenal
- 2:20:51Speaker 2: what they have to pay. And who's making all the money?
- 2:20:58Speaker 2: The owners?
- 2:20:59Speaker 5: Yes.
- 2:21:00Speaker 2: I'd like to see the staff make more that actually
- 2:21:02Speaker 2: does the care for these people. And any one of us,
- 2:21:08Speaker 2: like I say, everybody is one major illness away from bankruptcy, unfortunately,
- 2:21:14Speaker 2: in many cases. So if you go and you take
- 2:21:17Speaker 2: a look at somebody that has a major health issue
- 2:21:22Speaker 2: and they end up in a skilled nursing care at
- 2:21:25Speaker 2: $ 10, 000 a month, well, it depletes their savings and their
- 2:21:30Speaker 2: Assets very quickly. Well, that's when they are busted and
- 2:21:34Speaker 2: they go on Medicaid to provide the coverage that they need.
- 2:21:39Speaker 2: If we didn't have it, what else would we do?
- 2:21:41Speaker 2: I'll be right back.
- 2:21:42Speaker 1: Youngstown's News, Weather and Talk Station 570 WKBN.
- 2:21:50Speaker 2: News Radio 570 WKBN and Ron Ferb with you till
- 2:21:54Speaker 2: just a few more minutes till 630 on News Radio
- 2:21:57Speaker 2: 570 WKBN. I'm just kind of, that guy gets me
- 2:22:02Speaker 2: on that kind of stuff and just talking about it.
- 2:22:05Speaker 2: And I'm the first guy to say to all of you,
- 2:22:08Speaker 2: these people that get on some of these programs that
- 2:22:11Speaker 2: are able-bodied, healthy people of work age that are milking
- 2:22:14Speaker 2: the system need a good kick in the ass to
- 2:22:16Speaker 2: get off their lazy ass and realize how lucky they
- 2:22:19Speaker 2: are to be in this country and the opportunities that
- 2:22:22Speaker 2: are in front of them and to make something out
- 2:22:24Speaker 2: of their life. So those people I want to give
- 2:22:26Speaker 2: a kick in the arse to. And I get tired
- 2:22:32Speaker 2: of them trying to exploit these programs. As I've said
- 2:22:34Speaker 2: to you a gazillion times, don't make your problems my problems.
- 2:22:38Speaker 2: If you make bad decisions, it doesn't mean the taxpayer
- 2:22:40Speaker 2: should be stuck with it, particularly if you're of work age.
- 2:22:43Speaker 2: Sometimes you're going to have to work two or three
- 2:22:45Speaker 2: jobs to take responsibility for it. That's just the way
- 2:22:49Speaker 2: the system is set up. But if you get sick,
- 2:22:54Speaker 2: as we see people do, or you run out of
- 2:22:55Speaker 2: money and you're in a nursing home, that's what some
- 2:22:57Speaker 2: of these programs are for, to be able to What
- 2:23:00Speaker 2: are you supposed to do with the person at that time?
- 2:23:02Speaker 2: They don't have anything. And that's what Medicaid is really for,
- 2:23:05Speaker 2: to assist people in these nursing homes when they're out
- 2:23:09Speaker 2: of money. And Medicare does that for a very short
- 2:23:13Speaker 2: period of time. But what they charge a month, it
- 2:23:20Speaker 2: just can deplete your assets, 10 grand a month and
- 2:23:22Speaker 2: this kind of stuff very quickly. I don't know who
- 2:23:24Speaker 2: could afford it at all. It's one of the biggest
- 2:23:26Speaker 2: fears people have as they grow older is ending up
- 2:23:28Speaker 2: in one of those facilities because of how much it
- 2:23:31Speaker 2: can cost the family. And it just sucks a lifetime
- 2:23:37Speaker 2: of assets away in a very short period of time.
- 2:23:42Speaker 2: And I mean a lifetime worth of assets. It's always
- 2:23:45Speaker 2: good to do some estate planning, I'm telling you, as
- 2:23:48Speaker 2: you get older. So hopefully you don't become a victim
- 2:23:52Speaker 2: of that stuff. All right, enough said about that for now.
- 2:23:55Speaker 2: We regroup tomorrow. We're back tomorrow at 3 o'clock, NewsRadio
- 2:23:59Speaker 2: 570 WKBN. That'll be tomorrow afternoon from starting at 3 o'clock.

- 2:24:07Speaker 2: coming up next with the pregame show on NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 2:24:11Speaker 2: Then first, well, that'll be right after the headlines. First
- 2:24:14Speaker 2: pitch will be a little bit after 7 o'clock then tonight. uh,

- 2:24:25Speaker 2: So if you haven't tuned in and enjoyed the, uh, guardians,
- 2:24:29Speaker 2: you will, it's just a part of summertime here in
- 2:24:32Speaker 2: our neck of the woods. And we're always happy to
- 2:24:34Speaker 2: be carry the guardians games. That's for sure. And I
- 2:24:38Speaker 2: don't know, sometimes they run hot and they run cold
- 2:24:41Speaker 2: from time to time. Let's just put it that way.
- 2:24:45Speaker 2: It seems like things have been going relatively decent lately
- 2:24:49Speaker 2: for the most part. So better year than last. than
- 2:24:53Speaker 2: I think what a lot of people were expecting. So
- 2:24:56Speaker 2: let's keep the momentum going. All right, appreciate you tuning in.
- 2:24:58Speaker 2: I thank you for listening, and I look forward to
- 2:25:00Speaker 2: speaking to you tomorrow. Ron Verp from the Kingdom of

- 2:26:31Speaker 26: on the second place White Sox in the American League
- 2:26:34Speaker 26: Central Division. The Yankees just a half game back of
- 2:26:37Speaker 26: front-running Tampa Bay. in the AL East. What a pitching
- 2:26:41Speaker 26: matchup we have tonight. Two of the best in baseball.

- 2:26:57Speaker 2: The pitch, swung on a high.
- 2:26:59Speaker 34: Chopper, the third over the head of Rosario, down the
- 2:27:02Speaker 34: left field line, it'll roll into the corner. Ramirez with
- 2:27:05Speaker 34: his third double. Big turn, but he'll hold right there.

- 2:27:30Speaker 26: in this ballpark where he hit his first home run,
- 2:27:33Speaker 26: by the way, in his major league career. He's hitting.
- 2:27:36Speaker 26: 402 with nine homers and 31 runs missed. batted in.
- 2:27:41Speaker 26: Stay with us. We'll have more to come after this.
- 2:27:44Speaker 13: Here's the Bet365 Minute, where winning is everything, with Scott Davidson.
- 2:27:49Speaker 2: Let's check out the numbers game two from New York tonight.
- 2:27:51Speaker 2: The Yankees, a $ 1. 50 favorite over the guards. Total is
- 2:27:55Speaker 2: seven and a half. And let's get a play of
- 2:27:57Speaker 2: the day out west. I like a lot tonight.
- 2:27:59Speaker 35: I'm going to isolate a first five innings play because
- 2:28:01Speaker 35: I see a large edge in.
- 2:28:02Speaker 2: The pitching matchup.
- 2:28:04Speaker 35: Between the Angels and the Rockies. Now, Michael Lorenzen goes
- 2:28:07Speaker 35: for Colorado. And over his last six starts, he's been rocked.
- 2:28:11Speaker 35: 27 runs in just 28 innings. The Angels counter with
- 2:28:14Speaker 35: Robert Ureña in eight starts. He's held opponents to two
- 2:28:17Speaker 35: runs or fewer in seven of them. Ureña also has
- 2:28:20Speaker 35: the element of unfamiliarity working for him.
- 2:28:23Speaker 2: Colorado hasn't faced him yet. i like the angels first.
- 2:28:26Speaker 17: Five innings my play of the day now you can

- 2:28:43Speaker 2: In ohio.
- 2:28:46Speaker 26: Welcome back to guardians warm-up matt fested joining us guardians
- 2:28:48Speaker 26: reliever following a night where the guardians bullpen did it
- 2:28:53Speaker 26: again uh One of those nights where it's five relievers,
- 2:28:57Speaker 26: one inning apiece, and Matt, you're the representative since you
- 2:29:00Speaker 26: finished the thing up, and you're the local guy for
- 2:29:02Speaker 26: a game here, but those nights, how enjoyable are they
- 2:29:05Speaker 26: when almost everybody in the pen has a chance to contribute?
- 2:29:09Speaker 29: Well, when we do come out there and have success,
- 2:29:12Speaker 29: it's a lot of fun because when we all get
- 2:29:13Speaker 29: to come back inside the clubhouse, we're all just patting
- 2:29:15Speaker 29: each other on the back, but it's a great feeling
- 2:29:18Speaker 29: to all just pass the torch to each other and
- 2:29:21Speaker 29: have a successful night.
- 2:29:22Speaker 26: And you've been here a bunch of times in your
- 2:29:24Speaker 26: major league career, but what is it about here based
- 2:29:26Speaker 26: on you growing up over in Staten Island that makes
- 2:29:29Speaker 26: this a fun road swing and a fun group of
- 2:29:32Speaker 26: games to play?
- 2:29:32Speaker 29: I used to have a lot of family and friends
- 2:29:34Speaker 29: in town watching or supporting at the stadium. And then
- 2:29:38Speaker 29: like myself, I've just taken a lot of mental reps
- 2:29:39Speaker 29: out on that mound growing up and going to Yankee games.
- 2:29:42Speaker 29: So for me, you know, it's always special coming back here.
- 2:29:45Speaker 26: As a kid, how often did you get over here?
- 2:29:47Speaker 29: As often as you can, but baseball games are, you know.
- 2:29:51Speaker 29: You can't really make it out here. Staten Island's not
- 2:29:53Speaker 29: too close, but, you know, probably two or three times
- 2:29:55Speaker 29: a year when I was growing up.
- 2:29:57Speaker 2: That's enough.
- 2:29:58Speaker 26: Matt Festa joining us to finish things up in the
- 2:30:00Speaker 26: series opener Tuesday night. And you don't get a chance
- 2:30:03Speaker 26: to do that too often, even though it's not a
- 2:30:05Speaker 26: safe situation. How much fun is it to be the
- 2:30:07Speaker 26: last guy out there and get to shake hands?
- 2:30:10Speaker 2: It's fun.
- 2:30:10Speaker 29: It's fun to be out there when everyone's just celebrating
- 2:30:13Speaker 29: a nice win. But it's good to, you know, take
- 2:30:16Speaker 29: some of the, you know, pressure off of Cade, you know,
- 2:30:21Speaker 29: don't have to use them in a five-run lead, that's fantastic,
- 2:30:23Speaker 29: and it keeps them fresh for some really close situations
- 2:30:25Speaker 29: where we might need them down the road.
- 2:30:27Speaker 26: So often this year you've come in mid-inning, runners on base,
- 2:30:31Speaker 26: a big mess to get out.
- 2:30:32Speaker 2: Of, and you've had good success in that.
- 2:30:34Speaker 26: What's been the key for you to really excel in
- 2:30:37Speaker 26: that role?
- 2:30:38Speaker 29: Not really think about it too much, just focus on
- 2:30:40Speaker 29: the task at hand, whoever in the box is, just
- 2:30:43Speaker 29: lock in on my catcher and, you know, deliver some
- 2:30:46Speaker 29: strikes and challenge some hitters and you know, you hope
- 2:30:48Speaker 29: things are going to work out for you.
- 2:30:49Speaker 2: That's all you can kind of control. So I kind of,
- 2:30:52Speaker 2: I just don't really think about it too much.
- 2:30:53Speaker 26: And when you look at how things have gone since
- 2:30:55Speaker 26: you've come over here, what's been some of the keys
- 2:30:59Speaker 26: for you to take your career a step forward in
- 2:31:02Speaker 26: terms of what they do for you here to get
- 2:31:04Speaker 26: you to be your best?
- 2:31:05Speaker 29: For me, it's just getting the opportunity to always go
- 2:31:08Speaker 29: back out there and either, you know, stack a couple
- 2:31:11Speaker 29: of good outings in a row or fix a mess
- 2:31:13Speaker 29: that happens, you know, and you don't always have a
- 2:31:15Speaker 29: great outing, but relying on you know Caleb Longshore and
- 2:31:20Speaker 29: Brad Goldberg and of course Carl Willis like in between
- 2:31:23Speaker 29: outings just to see what they're seeing to confirm what
- 2:31:26Speaker 29: I'm feeling and sometimes just a conversation sometimes a full
- 2:31:30Speaker 29: sit down but you know they're so proactive in the
- 2:31:33Speaker 29: things that they do to help us get better each
- 2:31:35Speaker 29: and every day.
- 2:31:35Speaker 26: And team wise good start to the season what do
- 2:31:38Speaker 26: you like in here in terms of what you're seeing
- 2:31:40Speaker 26: both relievers starters and position players?
- 2:31:44Speaker 2: Just We're just playing really relaxed.
- 2:31:46Speaker 29: We're playing like just a bunch of really close friends,
- 2:31:49Speaker 29: and it's fun coming to the ballpark every day and
- 2:31:52Speaker 29: seeing different faces and names kind of do a job
- 2:31:56Speaker 29: every day. We're a family already, and it's only two
- 2:31:59Speaker 29: months in.
- 2:32:00Speaker 26: We're excited. Matt, nice going. Thanks for coming by.
- 2:32:03Speaker 2: Thanks.
- 2:32:04Speaker 26: That is Matt Festa, Guardians relief pitcher.

- 2:32:17Speaker 2: Bold pick there, Debra.
- 2:32:18Speaker 19: Yeah, Rich, Pepper has a high ceiling for sure, but
- 2:32:20Speaker 19: he does have a tendency.
- 2:32:20Speaker 11: To bark at every tree.
- 2:32:21Speaker 16: Yeah, he brings a lot to the table, but also
- 2:32:23Speaker 16: takes a lot off of it, especially when it's been
- 2:32:25Speaker 16: left near the edge.
- 2:32:27Speaker 19: Nothing left to do now but suit him up for

- 2:34:11Speaker 26: Welcome back to the Bet365 Guardians warm-up show. Beautiful night
- 2:34:15Speaker 26: here in New York shaping up. Let's check in on
- 2:34:18Speaker 26: what's happening back home. Courtesy of WKYC, it's our pregame
- 2:34:22Speaker 26: winter sponsored by Shores and Islands Ohio.
- 2:34:27Speaker 39: Under mainly clear skies, temperatures drop back into the low
- 2:34:29Speaker 39: and mid 50s for Thursday morning. Through the afternoon, we'll
- 2:34:32Speaker 39: top out in the low 80s and we get to
- 2:34:34Speaker 39: see lots of sunshine around northern Ohio. Partly cloudy for Friday,
- 2:34:38Speaker 39: you're definitely going to start to feel the humidity around
- 2:34:40Speaker 39: here as temperatures make it into the upper 80s. In
- 2:34:43Speaker 39: the 3 News Weather Center, I'm Chief Meteorologist Betsy Kling.
- 2:34:46Speaker 26: And again, a great baseball night here in the Big Apple.
- 2:34:50Speaker 26: The Yankees and the Guardians meeting in Game 2 of
- 2:34:53Speaker 26: this three-game series. Tom Hamilton will talk about it with
- 2:34:55Speaker 26: manager Stephen Vogt next.
- 2:34:59Speaker 2: Hi again, everybody. With Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt, this is
- 2:35:08Speaker 2: Tom Hamilton.
- 2:35:09Speaker 12: Welcome.
- 2:35:10Speaker 2: It's the Manager Show brought to you by KeyBank. Any
- 2:35:13Speaker 2: win's a great win. You get a win in this
- 2:35:15Speaker 2: ballpark against that ball club. How good did that feel? Yeah,
- 2:35:19Speaker 2: it feels good.
- 2:35:19Speaker 8: You know, you come on the road.
- 2:35:21Speaker 40: Obviously, Yankee Stadium's always a tough place to play. This
- 2:35:23Speaker 40: is a very good team, and so are we.
- 2:35:26Speaker 2: And it was really.
- 2:35:27Speaker 40: Nice to get the first game of the series because
- 2:35:29Speaker 40: when you win the first game of the series, now
- 2:35:31Speaker 40: you've got two opportunities to take the series. So great
- 2:35:34Speaker 40: to see the guys really extend the lead at the end.
- 2:35:36Speaker 40: The bullpen was fantastic, so all around a great win.
- 2:35:39Speaker 2: Well, how about the bullpen? I mean, five shutout innings
- 2:35:42Speaker 2: against that lineup. Granted, they didn't have Aaron Judge, but
- 2:35:46Speaker 2: they still have some thumpers.
- 2:35:47Speaker 40: Yeah, this is a really good lineup. I mean, obviously,
- 2:35:49Speaker 40: when Aaron Judge isn't playing, and like I'll continue to say,
- 2:35:52Speaker 40: hopefully he's back soon. We want to see the best
- 2:35:54Speaker 40: players in the league out on the field. But for
- 2:35:57Speaker 40: those guys to navigate five innings of shutout baseball, that's
- 2:36:00Speaker 40: not easy to do in any stretch of five innings
- 2:36:03Speaker 40: in this ballpark, let alone against their lineup.
- 2:36:06Speaker 2: So really, really good job by the bullpen. Travis Bazzana
- 2:36:10Speaker 2: gets that three-run double with two out. Obviously, you didn't
- 2:36:14Speaker 2: have to use Cade Smith. How big is that in
- 2:36:17Speaker 2: the first game of a road trip? It's huge.
- 2:36:20Speaker 40: And the other side of that, too, is we had
- 2:36:23Speaker 40: Sean Armstrong coming in for the eighth. You're coming into
- 2:36:26Speaker 40: the eighth with a two-run lead. Now you make that
- 2:36:29Speaker 40: a five-run lead. Those are much less stressed pitches. So
- 2:36:32Speaker 40: now Sean Armstrong is going to be fresher today. And
- 2:36:34Speaker 40: I think we talk about it a lot. If we
- 2:36:36Speaker 40: can extend leads... Maybe you still have to use some
- 2:36:39Speaker 40: leverage guys, but those aren't going to be as high-pressured pitches,
- 2:36:43Speaker 40: and they're not going to be as intense. And so
- 2:36:46Speaker 40: anytime you can keep a leverage guy off of the field,
- 2:36:49Speaker 40: it's great. And we didn't even have to get Cade
- 2:36:51Speaker 40: up in a two-run game going into the eighth. So
- 2:36:53Speaker 40: really good job by the offense.
- 2:36:55Speaker 2: Doesn't seem like Travis is too phased by the situation. No,
- 2:36:59Speaker 2: he's not.
- 2:37:01Speaker 40: He even mentioned how much fun it was to play here,
- 2:37:03Speaker 40: and same with Chase. And it's rare to see two
- 2:37:06Speaker 40: rookies with, you know, two months of time or less
- 2:37:09Speaker 40: on their belt, and you come to Yankee Stadium for
- 2:37:12Speaker 40: the first time, and they're like, this is really cool.
- 2:37:14Speaker 40: I mean, it just shows their maturity.
- 2:37:16Speaker 2: How about Patrick Bailey? That's a triple to get you
- 2:37:18Speaker 2: going early in the game against a guy that hasn't
- 2:37:21Speaker 2: been giving up runs to anybody.
- 2:37:23Speaker 40: Yeah, it really woke the dugout up, and I mean,
- 2:37:26Speaker 40: the wherewithal, you know, us catchers are so fast that,
- 2:37:28Speaker 40: you know, we turn doubles into a all the time.
- 2:37:30Speaker 2: So, but that's, what's so huge.
- 2:37:33Speaker 40: And I love about these, our guys is we're always
- 2:37:35Speaker 40: pushing the envelope on the bases. It would have been
- 2:37:37Speaker 40: real easy to just kind of coast into second base,
- 2:37:40Speaker 40: but now you get to third with one out that
- 2:37:42Speaker 40: creates an opportunity for a sack fly. It creates an
- 2:37:44Speaker 40: opportunity for an RBI ground out, whatever it might be. And,
- 2:37:47Speaker 40: So obviously a great piece of hitting by Patty and
- 2:37:50Speaker 40: great base running to get to third.
- 2:37:52Speaker 2: Look, we're not saying he's the next Johnny Bench, but
- 2:37:55Speaker 2: have you seen something that there's more in there offensively
- 2:37:58Speaker 2: than maybe what the numbers were when he came here? Absolutely.
- 2:38:02Speaker 40: We've seen him hit probably seven or eight balls really
- 2:38:04Speaker 40: hard since he's been here, and he really hadn't played
- 2:38:07Speaker 40: a ton. So he's starting to really get acclimated to
- 2:38:10Speaker 40: our pitching staff, which is obviously most important. We knew
- 2:38:12Speaker 40: that was going to happen quickly. He and Hedgie and
- 2:38:15Speaker 40: David have worked really hard together to get him up
- 2:38:17Speaker 40: to speed, along with our pitching coaches. But we're really
- 2:38:20Speaker 40: starting to see some growth offensively, and there's a really
- 2:38:23Speaker 40: good hitter in there. Like we said, we're not expecting
- 2:38:25Speaker 40: him to go out and have 1,000 OPS, but there's
- 2:38:28Speaker 40: a much better hitter in than what he's shown from
- 2:38:30Speaker 40: the beginning of the season until now.
- 2:38:32Speaker 2: You don't get many of these matchups in a season,
- 2:38:35Speaker 2: just the way rotations fluctuate with off days and whatnot.
- 2:38:40Speaker 2: Gavin Williams, Garrett Cole, that's worth the price of admission. Yeah,
- 2:38:44Speaker 2: if you like pitching, it should be a fun night.
- 2:38:47Speaker 40: We feel good about it whenever Gavin's taking the mound,
- 2:38:49Speaker 40: and Garrett Cole coming back from Tommy John, good to
- 2:38:51Speaker 40: see him back. Like I said, I love seeing the
- 2:38:54Speaker 40: best players in the world playing, and we've seen Garrett
- 2:38:57Speaker 40: Cole enough over the last few years. But we get
- 2:38:59Speaker 40: to see him one more time tonight, and hopefully we're
- 2:39:01Speaker 40: ready for him.
- 2:39:02Speaker 2: Yeah, but we saw Gavin Williams take his game to
- 2:39:04Speaker 2: another level against Christopher Sanchez in Philly. Do you expect
- 2:39:08Speaker 2: that again tonight?
- 2:39:09Speaker 40: I do, and I think, like I said, anytime Gavin
- 2:39:12Speaker 40: takes the mound, we feel good about it. It's always
- 2:39:14Speaker 40: fun playing in this ballpark. You look at that uniform,
- 2:39:18Speaker 40: the history. If you love baseball, you know the history
- 2:39:20Speaker 40: of the Yankees.
- 2:39:21Speaker 2: So it's shaping up.
- 2:39:23Speaker 40: To be a really fun night, and we feel good
- 2:39:24Speaker 40: about Gavin taking the ball.
- 2:39:26Speaker 2: That is Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt, Tom Hamilton, inviting you
- 2:39:29Speaker 2: to stay tuned for the Yankees and Guardians next on
- 2:39:32Speaker 2: the Cleveland Clinic Radio Network. About 10 minutes away from
- 2:39:43Speaker 2: tonight's first pitch here at Yankee Stadium.
- 2:39:45Speaker 8: In New York.
- 2:39:46Speaker 26: Welcome back to the Bet365 Guardians warm-up show. Time for
- 2:39:50Speaker 26: the pitching matchup. It's right-hander Gavin Williams for the Guardians. 8-3,
- 2:39:55Speaker 26: an earned run average of 3.07. After a dozen starts,
- 2:40:00Speaker 26: the last three have been wins, allowing just three runs
- 2:40:03Speaker 26: in 21 innings of work. He'll be opposed by Garrett Cole,
- 2:40:07Speaker 26: who's back on the mound for start number three. In
- 2:40:10Speaker 26: his return from Tommy John surgery that cost him all
- 2:40:13Speaker 26: of the 2025 season, in his prior two starts, he's
- 2:40:17Speaker 26: won one and allowed no runs in 12 and two-thirds innings.
- 2:40:23Speaker 26: 11 starts in his career against Cleveland. He's always been tough.
- 2:40:27Speaker 26: 7-2 with an earned run average of 2.87. That's your
- 2:40:31Speaker 26: pitching matchup. That'll do it for Guardians Warm-Up.
- 2:40:33Speaker 23: Stay tuned.
