- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, everybody, you know it's Romeo, and we made
- 0:02Speaker 1: it halfway through the week. It's Wednesday. We talked a
- 0:04Speaker 1: little bit about Bakersfield real estate. We talked about the
- 0:07Speaker 1: NFL because it starts today, and then we got some
- 0:11Speaker 1: argument with some Raider fans. Check it out. You're talking
- 0:13Speaker 1: about buying your kid their first car at 16, right?
- 0:16Speaker 1: And there are people out there that have been calling
- 0:18Speaker 1: me and have been saying that, no, you're spoiling your kid.
- 0:22Speaker 1: You shouldn't be buying him a car. You should make
- 0:23Speaker 1: them pay for it themselves. Oh, my God. Get over yourself.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Buy your kid the best possible thing you can afford
- 0:30Speaker 1: and be good to your kid. What if you've got
- 0:33Speaker 1: a good kid? What if you've got a kid that
- 0:36Speaker 1: really is responsible in handling their business at 16, 17,
- 0:40Speaker 1: 18 in high school? Why would you not help them
- 0:45Speaker 1: succeed in life? You're basically not helping them. Good morning, Hal.
- 0:49Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 0:50Speaker 2: Hey, Romeo.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Just talking about the....
- 0:53Speaker 1: Yeah, what's up?
- 0:55Speaker 4: Supposedly.
- 0:56Speaker 3: No, I think that it has to do.
- 0:58Speaker 4: A lot with parenting skills.
- 1:00Speaker 3: When I was, I don't know, in my younger age,
- 1:05Speaker 3: my parents are straight out Mexican, you know, and they
- 1:08Speaker 3: feel like, no, you got to learn, you know, what
- 1:10Speaker 3: it is to pay for bills and pay for this.
- 1:13Speaker 3: And I had to drop out of college because I
- 1:15Speaker 3: couldn't afford college. I couldn't afford my car. I couldn't
- 1:18Speaker 3: afford my car insurance all at.
- 1:19Speaker 4: The same time.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Yeah. And there's a lot of people that had.
- 1:23Speaker 3: To do that.
- 1:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:26Speaker 1: No, I'm with you. I'm with you. Your parents failed you.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Yes, and I feel like I failed them because I
- 1:34Speaker 3: couldn't keep up with everything.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Yeah, but they made you, they guilted you into making
- 1:38Speaker 1: you feel like you did that. You didn't do anything wrong.
- 1:40Speaker 1: They failed you. And then more people would understand the
- 1:44Speaker 1: possibilities of setting your kids off on the right track
- 1:48Speaker 1: instead of trying to make them into something. Oh, I'm sorry.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I would tell your mom and dad, I'm sorry you
- 1:53Speaker 1: guys had to work hard. But there's no way you
- 1:56Speaker 1: shouldn't have helped your child succeed in any way.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Possible yes i feel the same way so we me
- 2:04Speaker 4: and my husband with my kids uh we're telling them
- 2:07Speaker 4: all we want you guys to do is you know
- 2:09Speaker 4: right now uh graduate high school you know and we're
- 2:13Speaker 4: paying for her cell phone we're gonna pay for her car.
- 2:17Speaker 3: To go to college you know we're not gonna get
- 2:19Speaker 3: her like oh my god this expensive car but you know.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Something something you can afford It's not going to hurt you.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Yeah, we could afford it.
- 2:24Speaker 3: She could get back and forth, too.
- 2:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:26Speaker 3: And we told her, if you like to get a
- 2:28Speaker 3: part-time job just for your own little things that you
- 2:31Speaker 3: want to be getting, that's up to you.
- 2:32Speaker 1: All right, here's the deal. I got to jump. Put
- 2:35Speaker 1: your parents in the worst home you could possibly find
- 2:37Speaker 1: when they get old enough, okay?
- 2:39Speaker 6: Oh, my God, Roby.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 2:42Speaker 7: All right, 8-4-2-5-4-7-7.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Hey, Romeo, if a kid wants a car at 16
- 2:46Speaker 1: years old, then he will learn the responsibility and everything
- 2:49Speaker 1: that comes with owning a car at 16 years old.
- 2:52Speaker 1: He's just 16. He's still in school. He doesn't need
- 2:55Speaker 1: a car. The school provides bus rides for free. He
- 2:58Speaker 1: just wants a car to be cool in high school
- 3:02Speaker 1: and on the weekends. Tell me what a 16-year-old needs
- 3:05Speaker 1: a car for. Because he's 16. And it's not about
- 3:11Speaker 1: being cool. It's about having a little bit of freedom.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Once you get your first car, you have that little
- 3:16Speaker 1: bit of freedom to learn, to grow in this world. Okay.
- 3:24Speaker 1: So I don't, I don't know what kind of, I
- 3:26Speaker 1: don't know what the hell's wrong with you, but yeah,
- 3:29Speaker 1: you're a, you, you need help.
- 3:31Speaker 7: I hope you're not raising kids.
- 3:33Speaker 1: Hey, good morning. Good morning, Romeo. Hey, my 18-year-old son
- 3:37Speaker 1: is a senior in high school. He just got his
- 3:40Speaker 1: driver's license. I got him a dependable 2002 Toyota Camry
- 3:44Speaker 1: gas saver so he can get to school and his
- 3:47Speaker 1: internship at a local technology company. Plus, he will be
- 3:53Speaker 1: heading to BC as well. I have engraved in him
- 3:59Speaker 1: the worst thing to do is buy a car and
- 4:01Speaker 1: make payments plus insurance. I've showed him how expensive it
- 4:06Speaker 1: is and how important it is to save money and
- 4:08Speaker 1: get a college degree, and everything will align in the future.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I'm here to guide my kids, not hand them everything. Well,
- 4:16Speaker 1: you just handed him a brand new car. I mean,
- 4:19Speaker 1: a 2002, but there's nothing wrong with that. Anybody who
- 4:24Speaker 1: says buying their kid a car is an idiot. is
- 4:30Speaker 1: spoiling them, you're an idiot. I mean, if you go
- 4:33Speaker 1: buy your kid a car, a brand new Mercedes G-Wagon
- 4:37Speaker 1: that you're making payments on, that's spoiling them. But if
- 4:40Speaker 1: you're buying them something you can afford that's reliable, that's
- 4:45Speaker 1: just helping your kid out. Why are you parents so
- 4:49Speaker 1: opposed to helping your kids out?
- 4:52Speaker 7: What is wrong with you people? That's just despicable.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Why would you not want to help your kids through life?
- 5:02Speaker 1: You know, especially at such a young age. Okay, if
- 5:08Speaker 1: your kid's 40 and you're still, you know, paying all
- 5:11Speaker 1: their bills and maybe we need to reevaluate, reevaluate what's
- 5:15Speaker 1: going on. But at 16, 17, 18, high school, wanting
- 5:20Speaker 1: to go to college and you're still not helping them.
- 5:23Speaker 7: You're trying to.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Throw them to the wolves because that's how we grew up.
- 5:26Speaker 1: That makes them a man. No, it doesn't. That girl
- 5:29Speaker 1: just called. Her parents threw her to the wolves and
- 5:32Speaker 1: she failed. When her parents sounded like her parents had
- 5:36Speaker 1: the ability to help her succeed. Her parents should be
- 5:40Speaker 1: embarrassed by the way they what they did to their child.
- 5:45Speaker 1: You guys are not very bright. It's a good thing
- 5:48Speaker 1: I'm here to explain to you guys how to raise
- 5:50Speaker 1: your kids because you're doing a horrible job. Funny, we
- 5:53Speaker 1: were talking about.
- 5:53Speaker 7: Buying a kid a car.
- 5:55Speaker 1: At 16, some people out there believe that these kids
- 5:57Speaker 1: need to work for it. Some people believe that it's
- 5:59Speaker 1: spoiling them. If you buy them one, I think both
- 6:02Speaker 1: of you are wrong. All right, good morning, Hal.
- 6:06Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 6:06Speaker 6: Yeah, what's going on?
- 6:08Speaker 1: What up, man?
- 6:10Speaker 4: Not much.
- 6:10Speaker 8: I just wanted to get my input in on not
- 6:13Speaker 8: having a car.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 6:15Speaker 8: What do you got? Yeah, well, first of all, I
- 6:19Speaker 8: didn't mind having... a broken down car, and it was actually,
- 6:23Speaker 8: used to be my mom's Aerostar. She had no problem
- 6:27Speaker 8: at all, loving it out to me, knowing damn right
- 6:30Speaker 8: how I drive once home. How to drive. I think
- 6:34Speaker 8: I hit a few curves, and I come back, she
- 6:38Speaker 8: didn't really mind, and she understood that I was learning
- 6:43Speaker 8: how to drive at the same time. There's a lot
- 6:45Speaker 8: of things that become good from actually just letting them
- 6:48Speaker 8: learn themselves.
- 6:49Speaker 6: But at the same time, I'm making sure they don't
- 6:53Speaker 6: get the aero parts taken away like.
- 6:55Speaker 1: I did once. Yeah, there's nothing worse than having a
- 6:59Speaker 1: car and then they're taken away from you as a punishment.
- 7:02Speaker 1: All right.
- 7:03Speaker 8: This is actually when I grew up having broken down
- 7:07Speaker 8: cars myself because she understood that it's not having a
- 7:12Speaker 8: nice car that matters. It's about getting from point A
- 7:15Speaker 8: to point B.
- 7:16Speaker 4: And that's it. All right, man.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Thanks for calling. I appreciate it.
- 7:19Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Yeah, the responsibility of it. There's a responsibility of having
- 7:23Speaker 1: a car. We're talking about buying your kid his first car,
- 7:26Speaker 1: her first car.
- 7:27Speaker 8: At 16, right?
- 7:27Speaker 1: A lot of you out there is like, no, man,
- 7:30Speaker 1: they're spoiling him. No, man, you got to make him
- 7:32Speaker 1: work for it and pay for it and all this.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Why?
- 7:35Speaker 1: You buy him the best you can and move forward.
- 7:40Speaker 8: Good morning, Tom.
- 7:41Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 7:42Speaker 8: Hey, what's up, bro?
- 7:43Speaker 2: Hey, what up, man?
- 7:44Speaker 3: Oh, nothing.
- 7:45Speaker 6: I don't think it's called spoiling your child. For me,
- 7:50Speaker 6: I tell all my kids I don't reward failure. So
- 7:53Speaker 6: as long as you're in school, doing what you have
- 7:55Speaker 6: to do, straight A's, doing your chore around the house
- 8:00Speaker 6: without me having to remind you, I'm going to reward you.
- 8:02Speaker 6: My daughter's 15 this year. She's been principal's list, final row,
- 8:06Speaker 6: dean's list, her entire school career. So, yes, when she
- 8:12Speaker 6: turns 16 and she's still doing the same thing, I'm
- 8:15Speaker 6: going to get her a car. That's not spoiling my child.
- 8:17Speaker 6: That's rewarding her for her success.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Well, what is wrong with these people who are texting
- 8:22Speaker 1: and calling and saying these idiotic things about their kids?
- 8:25Speaker 1: It's just kids don't deserve. Kids don't need. Kids don't.
- 8:30Speaker 7: What is wrong with these people?
- 8:33Speaker 6: I would say my understanding is. They didn't have anything
- 8:37Speaker 6: growing up. Their parents didn't do it, so they feel, hey,
- 8:40Speaker 6: I'm going to do my kids that way. They have
- 8:42Speaker 6: to work for something.
- 8:44Speaker 4: Wow.
- 8:44Speaker 6: To me, at the end of the day, that makes
- 8:46Speaker 6: your kids resent you after growing up.
- 8:49Speaker 1: And it sets them up for failure.
- 8:52Speaker 9: Yes.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:53Speaker 1: All right, man. I appreciate the phone call. Thanks for calling, brother.
- 8:56Speaker 8: Later, man. Yep.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Why would you set your kids up for failure?
- 9:00Speaker 8: R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7-0.
- 9:00Speaker 1: My parents let us use a spare car to go
- 9:02Speaker 1: to school. but if we graduated high school, they bought
- 9:07Speaker 1: us one.
- 9:08Speaker 6: Okay.
- 9:09Speaker 2: All right.
- 9:10Speaker 1: But you got the, you had a car to go
- 9:12Speaker 1: back and forth from.
- 9:12Speaker 7: So that's nothing wrong with that.
- 9:14Speaker 1: But we've been talking about, you know, buying your kid
- 9:16Speaker 1: at 16, their first car. There's some clowns out there
- 9:20Speaker 1: that keep texting me and telling me, no, you shouldn't
- 9:22Speaker 1: do it. A kid doesn't need a car. No, he
- 9:24Speaker 1: needs to buy it himself. Yeah. You're going to put
- 9:26Speaker 1: a kid at 16 who wants a car in the
- 9:30Speaker 1: hole and And possibly fail in his education because he
- 9:35Speaker 1: wants to work to have a car. Why would you
- 9:37Speaker 1: do that? Why wouldn't you make life a little easier
- 9:39Speaker 1: for your child? Why are you guys always trying? Well,
- 9:42Speaker 1: that's how I did it. Well, okay. I get it.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Unfortunate for you. But don't do that to your kid.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Why don't you give him.
- 9:51Speaker 7: The best chance to succeed?
- 9:52Speaker 1: Good morning, Hal.
- 9:53Speaker 7: What's going on?
- 9:54Speaker 4: What's going on?
- 9:55Speaker 1: Good morning. Hey, what up, man?
- 9:57Speaker 8: Hey, man. People that are talking bad about buying kids.
- 10:16Speaker 2: That's the way I'm looking at.
- 10:17Speaker 1: It you might be right about that I don't really
- 10:19Speaker 1: know but just the idea I mean even if you
- 10:21Speaker 1: let's say you can't afford a car for your kid
- 10:24Speaker 1: shouldn't you want to be able to afford one as
- 10:26Speaker 1: a good parent to go you know what I got
- 10:28Speaker 1: a good kid man life is struggling for us but
- 10:30Speaker 1: you know what man I got to figure out something
- 10:32Speaker 1: or at least I want to not just try to
- 10:34Speaker 1: make some justification to make yourself feel better that no
- 10:37Speaker 1: man they got to work for it like I did
- 10:38Speaker 1: well no I guess.
- 10:42Speaker 6: Most definitely most definitely you know you got to show
- 10:44Speaker 6: the kids what the fire things in life are Yeah.
- 10:46Speaker 8: That way they can keep working for them.
- 10:48Speaker 1: All right, man. I appreciate the call. Thanks, brother.
- 10:53Speaker 7: All right, 4254-727. Oh, this is this guy.
- 10:55Speaker 1: I don't care if he's on honor roll student row.
- 10:58Speaker 1: At 16 years old, the school still provides a bus
- 11:00Speaker 1: to get them from point A to point B and
- 11:03Speaker 1: don't need to be driving anywhere at 16. Plus, if
- 11:06Speaker 1: they give him a car, who's going to pump gas
- 11:08Speaker 1: for him? Who's paying the insurance for him? Who's going
- 11:12Speaker 1: to fix repairs if the car breaks down? A 16-year-old don't.
- 11:15Speaker 1: need a car yeah you're just an idiot i i
- 11:19Speaker 1: i don't even i can't even fight stupidity i don't
- 11:22Speaker 1: even know how to deal with stupidity you know all
- 11:25Speaker 1: that stuff here's the problem that you guys don't understand
- 11:29Speaker 1: okay you can take care of your kids at 16
- 11:35Speaker 1: 17 18 till they graduate college at 23 and still
- 11:39Speaker 1: teach them responsibility still teach them how to be a
- 11:42Speaker 1: good person Teach him all of those things without putting him,
- 11:47Speaker 1: without setting him up for failure. When should your kid
- 11:52Speaker 1: get a car then? So what you're saying is, well, 16,
- 11:55Speaker 1: a kid don't need a car, so we're just going
- 11:57Speaker 1: to wait until he's, what, 18? And then now he
- 12:01Speaker 1: doesn't know what to do at all. He has no
- 12:03Speaker 1: idea how to take care of a car. He doesn't
- 12:06Speaker 1: know about insurance. He doesn't know about gas. He doesn't
- 12:08Speaker 1: know about maintenance. Because you're too pathetic of a parent
- 12:13Speaker 1: to buy them a car and go through that process
- 12:16Speaker 1: with them?
- 12:18Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 12:19Speaker 1: You're talking about helping your kids out with money. Basically
- 12:21Speaker 1: that first car.
- 12:22Speaker 7: Good morning, how's it going on?
- 12:23Speaker 2: Good morning, Romeo.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Hey, what's happening?
- 12:27Speaker 2: So when I was 16, I got a job like
- 12:32Speaker 2: the day after my 16th birthday, right?
- 12:34Speaker 9: Okay.
- 12:35Speaker 2: And my mom was fortunate enough to have enough money
- 12:39Speaker 2: to buy me a car. So my mom bought me
- 12:42Speaker 2: a white BMW. It was older, but it was a
- 12:46Speaker 2: nice BMW when I was 16 years old. And my
- 12:51Speaker 2: responsibility for the car was to pay her back. So monthly,
- 12:56Speaker 2: I paid her $ 300 for my car, but she bought
- 12:59Speaker 2: it cash. So I pretty much was just buying the
- 13:02Speaker 2: car from her. That was like a big responsibility for
- 13:07Speaker 2: me when I was 16, but I was also really
- 13:10Speaker 2: grateful for it. And I feel like I would definitely
- 13:13Speaker 2: do the same thing for my daughter. Well, I have
- 13:15Speaker 2: a six-year-old, so I would definitely do the same thing
- 13:18Speaker 2: for my daughter. If I could.
- 13:22Speaker 2: You know, give my daughter everything that my mom gave
- 13:24Speaker 2: me when I was younger, I would feel glad. I
- 13:27Speaker 2: always say I want to be the.
- 13:28Speaker 1: But to be honest with you, your mom didn't give
- 13:30Speaker 1: you a car. You paid for it.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Well, she gave it to me because I only paid
- 13:35Speaker 2: for it for, like, a year.
- 13:37Speaker 9: Oh.
- 13:38Speaker 2: And she.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Yeah. But it was.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Also, I was like also responsible after that. Like I
- 13:45Speaker 2: paid for the car for about a year. And then
- 13:48Speaker 2: after that, I was kind of like, well, I'll just
- 13:50Speaker 2: pay like for the water bill or something. And my
- 13:54Speaker 2: mom was like, okay. So it was more so just
- 13:56Speaker 2: to show me like the responsibility.
- 13:58Speaker 1: See, yes, there, I understand that. But a lot of
- 14:02Speaker 1: these parents today are, are charging their kids these ridiculous
- 14:07Speaker 1: amounts for something that the kids really can't afford, and
- 14:10Speaker 1: they're making them struggle, and that's not teaching them responsibility.
- 14:16Speaker 1: I agree. So, yeah, so your mom knew what she
- 14:18Speaker 1: was doing. Your mom sounded like she was pretty smart.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Yeah, my mom was just teaching me the responsibility. And
- 14:24Speaker 2: at first I was like, okay, well, I guess I'll
- 14:27Speaker 2: pay for it, you know? But then I also was like, girl,
- 14:31Speaker 2: I got my own car.
- 14:32Speaker 5: I'm paying these bills.
- 14:34Speaker 8: I got a job.
- 14:35Speaker 2: And I also thought I was hot in high school,
- 14:37Speaker 2: you know? So I had a BMW. There ain't no
- 14:41Speaker 2: kid in high school who had a BMW.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Oh, they all got them now.
- 14:45Speaker 3: They all have them now.
- 14:46Speaker 2: And I'm over here like, dang, they would have laughed
- 14:48Speaker 2: at my little BMW.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:50Speaker 2: You got Range Rovers and Mercedes.
- 14:52Speaker 1: I know, these kids today, that's funny.
- 14:54Speaker 2: But I definitely would, I would give my daughter everything
- 14:59Speaker 2: I could. Why would these parents want their kids to struggle?
- 15:03Speaker 1: Because they're stupid.
- 15:04Speaker 2: I don't understand it. I don't understand it. I would
- 15:06Speaker 2: rather my kid be like, my mom did everything for
- 15:09Speaker 2: us and taught me.
- 15:11Speaker 1: I'll explain to you why they do that. It's the
- 15:13Speaker 1: same reason my mom did it. Because they had no
- 15:18Speaker 1: other choice. So what they do, but these parents now
- 15:22Speaker 1: is because they don't understand the fact that when they
- 15:25Speaker 1: were struggling growing up, it wasn't because your parents were
- 15:28Speaker 1: trying to teach you a lesson. It was because your
- 15:31Speaker 1: parents had simply no other option but to struggle. Okay?
- 15:38Speaker 1: And people today are stupid. They think that that's the
- 15:41Speaker 1: reason they turned out the way they are. It's not.
- 15:43Speaker 1: It's because your parents taught you to be a certain way.
- 15:46Speaker 1: The fact that you had to struggle is not. It's
- 15:49Speaker 1: not the reason.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Okay. Yeah, my parents, they were together for most of
- 15:54Speaker 2: like my, up until I was like a teenager. And
- 15:56Speaker 2: then when I was in high school, they separated. So
- 16:00Speaker 2: my mom worked three jobs. My mom worked three jobs
- 16:03Speaker 2: to take care of me and my siblings. And there
- 16:04Speaker 2: was five of us.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:06Speaker 2: And so my mom showed me like, you're going to
- 16:09Speaker 2: have to either get it yourself or you're not going
- 16:11Speaker 2: to have it at all.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Did any of the other siblings get a BMW?
- 16:14Speaker 6: No.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Uh, no. I'm the oldest of the siblings, and I'm
- 16:21Speaker 2: also the most responsible. And I grew up really, really fast. Like,
- 16:25Speaker 2: I was never a kid.
- 16:26Speaker 8: Sure.
- 16:27Speaker 2: So, yeah, they didn't get BMWs, but, I mean, I
- 16:30Speaker 2: taught them to be responsible young adults as well, and
- 16:33Speaker 2: so did my mom.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Nice.
- 16:34Speaker 3: All right.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Well, thanks for calling. I appreciate it. Have a good day.
- 16:38Speaker 4: You too.
- 16:39Speaker 1: But that's the point. I mean, that's the reason why,
- 16:41Speaker 1: you know, is because you out here, you think that
- 16:45Speaker 1: the struggle was why you turned out the way you
- 16:49Speaker 1: turned out. And it's not. It's because your parents taught
- 16:52Speaker 1: you to be good people. Okay? You guys are over
- 16:56Speaker 1: here going, well, that kid's got to grow up. If
- 16:59Speaker 1: my kid's going to be a good person, he's got
- 17:00Speaker 1: to grow up like I grew up. No, he doesn't. No,
- 17:04Speaker 1: he doesn't. She doesn't. Okay?
- 17:07Speaker 7: Because times are different. It's not the same.
- 17:10Speaker 1: You can't raise your kid based on how you were
- 17:14Speaker 1: raised because we don't live in the same times, and
- 17:18Speaker 1: you parents don't understand that. Good morning, Rome. Hey, I'm
- 17:21Speaker 1: buying your teenager a car. It depends. If you're raising
- 17:25Speaker 1: a child that listens and is making the effort to
- 17:28Speaker 1: make the right decisions on his or her future, why
- 17:32Speaker 1: not help them out? And not just with a car,
- 17:35Speaker 1: but with anything else they need to start off in life.
- 17:38Speaker 1: And also... in what you can afford as a parent. Yeah, that's,
- 17:42Speaker 1: I agree with, I mean, yeah, absolutely. Why wouldn't you
- 17:45Speaker 1: do that? Some people don't, the problem is, here's the
- 17:48Speaker 1: real problem, is sometimes you meet these kids that really do,
- 17:54Speaker 1: really are good kids. And they're in a situation where,
- 17:57Speaker 1: you know, they, you know, they're in a situation where
- 18:02Speaker 1: it's just, you know, their parents don't care about them.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I mean, I have met some really good kids over
- 18:08Speaker 1: the years who their parents just seem to not care
- 18:10Speaker 1: at all, which is so strange. I just, I don't
- 18:14Speaker 1: get it. It's just really weird, you know? All right.
- 18:19Speaker 1: All right, 8-4-2-5-4-7-7. But you're right, man. Do what you
- 18:22Speaker 1: can for your kids to, you know, to keep them straight.
- 18:28Speaker 1: You know, help them out as much as you can,
- 18:30Speaker 1: as much as you can afford, but don't disregard them.
- 18:33Speaker 4: I mean.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Like you said, there's a lot of good kids I've
- 18:36Speaker 1: done seen trying to make it on their own, what
- 18:38Speaker 1: it appears to make it on their own, even though
- 18:41Speaker 1: they have parents that appear to be legitimate people. So
- 18:47Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know what to think about that. But, yeah,
- 18:50Speaker 1: I mean, I just, as it comes to the cars,
- 18:54Speaker 1: I think some of you moms and dads, you guys
- 18:58Speaker 1: are trying to teach your kids a lesson through finances, right?
- 19:03Speaker 1: And I don't think that's where you need to teach
- 19:06Speaker 1: them the lesson. Teaching them to be good people, teaching
- 19:10Speaker 1: them to do the right thing, teaching them to work hard,
- 19:13Speaker 1: I don't think you need to do that through money.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I don't think just because, you know, we were having
- 19:19Speaker 1: this conversation over the weekend. My first car was like
- 19:23Speaker 1: a 79 pickup, and it was not. It was kind
- 19:28Speaker 1: of a death trap. The brakes were suspect. The road
- 19:30Speaker 1: bar in front was crooked. I mean, it was a
- 19:33Speaker 1: suspect vehicle. It was a little 4x4, but it was suspect.
- 19:38Speaker 1: And you think that built character? No, I was already
- 19:42Speaker 1: a good kid. Me and my friends were already good kids,
- 19:46Speaker 1: you know, but that was all all my mom could afford.
- 19:50Speaker 1: You know, had my mom been able to afford more,
- 19:54Speaker 1: my mom would have bought me a brand new car.
- 19:58Speaker 1: So it has nothing to do with the amount of
- 20:02Speaker 1: money you have, you give your kids has nothing to
- 20:06Speaker 1: do with whether they turn out entitled or spoiled or
- 20:11Speaker 1: any of that. The way you raise them, you guys
- 20:14Speaker 1: blame it on that. I know a lot of you
- 20:15Speaker 1: will sit there and go, man, look at these kids,
- 20:17Speaker 1: how spoiled and entitled they are. Okay. But their parents
- 20:21Speaker 1: were dumbasses and didn't teach them responsibility and to be humble.
- 20:26Speaker 7: That's the parents' fault, not the kids' fault. And it
- 20:29Speaker 7: has nothing to do with money.
- 20:30Speaker 1: All right, 8-4-2-5-4-7-7. Yo, Rome, my boss is renting out
- 20:32Speaker 1: a room to his son. For a thousand bucks a month.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Wow.
- 20:41Speaker 7: That's just, that's embarrassing. I mean, that's the problem.
- 20:46Speaker 1: You guys, that just, I hate to say it, but
- 20:51Speaker 1: it kind of shows how pathetic you parents are. You
- 20:54Speaker 1: want to teach your kids responsibility, accountability. You want to
- 20:57Speaker 1: teach them how to be humble, how to be good people.
- 21:01Speaker 1: You don't do it through money. It's just, you parents
- 21:04Speaker 1: are greedy. You parents are, You know, you lack the
- 21:08Speaker 1: ability to teach your kids, you know. I mean, that's
- 21:12Speaker 1: the lowest common denominator. Make them pay. Think that's what
- 21:17Speaker 1: they're doing. That's what's teaching them. It's like, you know
- 21:21Speaker 1: what it's like? It's like you guys getting mad at
- 21:23Speaker 1: the schools for you not teaching your kids how to
- 21:25Speaker 1: be good people. You blame the schools for it. Oh,
- 21:27Speaker 1: it's the teacher's fault. Oh, no, it's not.
- 21:29Speaker 7: It's your fault.
- 21:31Speaker 1: You just passing the buck is all you're doing. Or
- 21:33Speaker 1: you're just selfish and you want your kids to pay you.
- 21:37Speaker 1: That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. It really is.
- 21:40Speaker 1: They have plenty of time to figure out and how
- 21:44Speaker 1: to make it in the world where they go rent
- 21:46Speaker 1: their own place or buy their own house or buy
- 21:49Speaker 1: insurance and car. You can teach them all that without
- 21:53Speaker 1: forcing them to do it when they don't have to.
- 21:56Speaker 1: How about giving them a shot in life? They're going
- 21:59Speaker 1: to have to pay. That's a given. They're not going
- 22:02Speaker 1: to be able to avoid that. But I will also
- 22:09Speaker 1: say this. To some extent, some of you jackasses are
- 22:12Speaker 1: making it worse for your kids because you're teaching them
- 22:14Speaker 1: that money solves all their problems. That's a problem because
- 22:20Speaker 1: it's not money. Money will solve a lot of problems.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong. But what you're teaching them is that, oh,
- 22:27Speaker 1: if you just have money, you'll be fine. You can
- 22:31Speaker 1: just pay your way out of everything. How about teaching
- 22:35Speaker 1: them to be good people? to be humble, to be kind,
- 22:37Speaker 1: to be respectful. You do not do that by charging
- 22:42Speaker 1: your kid $ 1, 000 a month to rent out a room
- 22:46Speaker 1: in the house he grew up in. That's not how
- 22:50Speaker 1: that works. Where's big boy when I need him? Big
- 22:52Speaker 1: boy got five kids, two of them successful, college graduates,
- 22:57Speaker 1: living a good life, three more that are about to
- 22:59Speaker 1: do the same thing. And big boy never forced them
- 23:02Speaker 1: to pay anything. He takes care of the bill. Like
- 23:06Speaker 1: a good parent. Him and his wife handle it. Yeah.
- 23:12Speaker 1: You guys just lazy, selfish parents, man. Good morning, Al.
- 23:16Speaker 7: What's going on?
- 23:17Speaker 8: Big Rome. Boy. I just seen a Superman. I just
- 23:24Speaker 8: seen a Superman symbol in the sky. That means to
- 23:27Speaker 8: call you. What's going on, brother? I'm listening to your show, man.
- 23:33Speaker 8: It's pretty interesting.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Well, these people, man. I'm just tired of them laying
- 23:38Speaker 1: the blame. Laying the blame on their kids for being
- 23:40Speaker 1: not good people when the reality is they didn't teach
- 23:43Speaker 1: them right.
- 23:43Speaker 8: Here's what I think. This is my opinion, man. I
- 23:48Speaker 8: feel that, you know, if you can't afford to help,
- 23:51Speaker 8: that's understandable.
- 23:52Speaker 10: Sure.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Absolutely. Absolutely.
- 23:54Speaker 8: But if you guys can't afford to help your kids
- 23:57Speaker 8: and you choose not to because, oh, nobody helped me
- 24:00Speaker 8: growing up, you know what I mean? That cycle of
- 24:02Speaker 8: life is going to continue throughout your family. You know
- 24:06Speaker 8: what I mean?
- 24:06Speaker 1: That's a good point.
- 24:07Speaker 8: They're going to be miserable. You guys are not going
- 24:09Speaker 8: to be happy. Your families are going to be miserable.
- 24:11Speaker 2: I mean.
- 24:12Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't. You know how I am, bro. I'm big,
- 24:15Speaker 8: you know. I'm big on my kids, my family. I
- 24:19Speaker 8: try to help every time I can. I don't hold back, bro.
- 24:22Speaker 8: But look, they're turning out to be great.
- 24:24Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 24:25Speaker 1: Yeah, they are. That's why I brought that up. Because
- 24:29Speaker 1: money is not what made them great, whether lack of
- 24:32Speaker 1: it or more of it. It's the response. It's what
- 24:34Speaker 1: you teach them.
- 24:36Speaker 8: That's right. It all starts in the home, man. The
- 24:40Speaker 8: parents are the guys. Yeah.
- 24:43Speaker 6: Absolutely.
- 24:43Speaker 8: Whatever you teach your kids morally is the way they're
- 24:46Speaker 8: going to pursue life.
- 24:47Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 24:47Speaker 6: Period.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Money has nothing to do with it.
- 24:52Speaker 8: That's the way it is, man.
- 24:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:54Speaker 8: I don't know. I mean, I was poor growing up.
- 24:56Speaker 8: My parents didn't have much.
- 24:57Speaker 1: We were all poor growing up.
- 24:58Speaker 8: But they did what they could, and I was happy
- 25:00Speaker 8: for it.
- 25:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:01Speaker 8: I got a 13-year-old Toyota four-by-four.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:05Speaker 8: It was on his last leg, but hey, I drove
- 25:09Speaker 8: the hell out of it.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 25:13Speaker 8: They gave it to me in high school. I didn't
- 25:15Speaker 8: have a license, so I don't do that. I don't
- 25:18Speaker 8: do that with my kids. My kids get their cars
- 25:21Speaker 8: the summer of their junior year going into their senior year.
- 25:26Speaker 8: That's when we buy their cars. You know what I mean?
- 25:29Speaker 8: I don't buy brand new cars. They're pre-certified.
- 25:33Speaker 9: Ha ha ha.
- 25:36Speaker 8: Hey, but they're nice. You've seen the rides I've got
- 25:39Speaker 8: up there.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Yeah, they're nice cars. But they deserve it.
- 25:43Speaker 8: They've earned it, they deserve it, and I'm able to
- 25:45Speaker 8: do it.
- 25:45Speaker 2: So why not?
- 25:46Speaker 8: You know what I mean?
- 25:47Speaker 1: But that's what I'm saying, big boy. Parents need to understand.
- 25:50Speaker 1: It's not... They think they're teaching their kids responsibility by
- 25:54Speaker 1: making them pay for something that the kids can't afford
- 25:57Speaker 1: when the reality is just teach them to be good
- 25:59Speaker 1: people and the money is irrelevant.
- 26:04Speaker 6: Yes.
- 26:04Speaker 8: Hey, well, my oldest... Even though.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I'm my oldest.
- 26:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:08Speaker 8: You know what I mean? He's doing great.
- 26:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:11Speaker 8: He paid me $ 500 a month rent for a whole
- 26:14Speaker 8: house by himself. Well. Who gets to do that? I
- 26:20Speaker 8: get $ 2, 500 a month for that house. But my boss
- 26:25Speaker 8: won't let me overcharge him.
- 26:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:27Speaker 9: Exactly.
- 26:30Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 26:31Speaker 1: But he's a good kid. But that's my point. See,
- 26:36Speaker 1: big boy, some parents will be selfish and go, well,
- 26:39Speaker 1: let me recoup that money from my kid now that
- 26:41Speaker 1: he can afford it, as opposed to going, look, man,
- 26:43Speaker 1: I don't need his money. But you make him pay
- 26:45Speaker 1: a little something just to have some responsibility.
- 26:48Speaker 8: So they're doing good, man. I can't knock them. They're
- 26:51Speaker 8: all doing great.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Well, yeah. Yeah. All right, big boy.
- 26:55Speaker 9: Later, brother.
- 26:55Speaker 8: All right, brother. You guys have a great day.
- 26:57Speaker 1: But that's my point. My point is you parents want
- 26:59Speaker 1: to pass the buck and sit there and go, well,
- 27:01Speaker 1: I can't buy, I got to buy my kid the
- 27:03Speaker 1: worst car ever because you know, that's what I got. Well, okay.
- 27:08Speaker 7: Times are different.
- 27:09Speaker 1: First of all, when, when you got the worst car ever,
- 27:12Speaker 1: that's all they had. Okay. So it's not like, you know,
- 27:17Speaker 1: you got to think about it, man. We, I was
- 27:18Speaker 1: having a, just having this conversation over the weekend too. Um,
- 27:23Speaker 1: So when you got your car, it was a 70
- 27:27Speaker 1: or an 80 something. It was a 10 year old
- 27:29Speaker 1: car when you got your car was probably in the
- 27:32Speaker 1: 70s or was made in the 80s.
- 27:34Speaker 6: Right.
- 27:35Speaker 7: A car, a 10 year old car today is 2000.
- 27:38Speaker 1: What are we in 2016? It's different.
- 27:44Speaker 7: Times are different. So and you parents got to stop, man.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Just teach your kids to be good, humble, respectful people.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Stop trying to use money to pretend like you're teaching
- 27:57Speaker 1: them some lesson because you're not. You're not helping them
- 28:00Speaker 1: at all. You're passing the blame to them. And you
- 28:05Speaker 1: think you're doing something. You're not. Talking about buying your
- 28:09Speaker 1: kid a car, right? The first car. And some of
- 28:10Speaker 1: you parents be going cheap, man. If you can afford it, man,
- 28:13Speaker 1: take care of your kids. If you raise them right.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Stop trying to make money the reason that you think
- 28:20Speaker 1: that's going to make them a better human being. It's not.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Forcing them to pay for things that they can't afford,
- 28:27Speaker 1: thinking you're teaching them a lesson, is not teaching them
- 28:29Speaker 1: a lesson.
- 28:31Speaker 7: R-A-4-2-5-4-7-7.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Yo, Rome, you're not lying. My brother-in-law, his daughter just
- 28:36Speaker 1: graduated high school, and he wants to charge her $ 600
- 28:39Speaker 1: a month for her room and give her a 10
- 28:44Speaker 1: o'clock at night curfew. She's 18 and he makes her
- 28:49Speaker 1: pay her own car insurance and registration and cell phone
- 28:53Speaker 1: and my wife's parents did not do that with him
- 28:57Speaker 1: at all. They bought him everything and they let him
- 29:02Speaker 1: live at home until he was like 25. Well, now
- 29:04Speaker 1: he's just being a selfish, greedy dad. I mean, that's
- 29:07Speaker 1: really all he's doing at this point. He's just being
- 29:10Speaker 1: a pathetic father at this point. I mean, that's horrible
- 29:13Speaker 1: to do to your kids. Why do you want to put...
- 29:16Speaker 1: What do you think you're teaching your kids by putting
- 29:20Speaker 1: them behind the eight ball and forcing them to pay
- 29:22Speaker 1: for things they can't afford yet? They're not there.
- 29:24Speaker 6: You know?
- 29:26Speaker 1: They're not... It's just ridiculous what you parents do. I mean,
- 29:34Speaker 1: that fool... What's he teaching his daughter? To be broke?
- 29:39Speaker 1: He's not helping her out at all in life. By
- 29:42Speaker 1: doing all of that, if he's doing that and he
- 29:46Speaker 1: can afford to not do that to his daughter, all
- 29:49Speaker 1: you're teaching your daughter is to be broke. You're not
- 29:51Speaker 1: teaching her anything. You're teaching her that she's got to
- 29:54Speaker 1: struggle to get by at an age when she ain't
- 29:58Speaker 1: there yet. She ain't figured it out. And she shouldn't
- 30:02Speaker 1: figure it out. She's 18 years old. My God. She's
- 30:06Speaker 1: got a few years to get straight, and you're not
- 30:09Speaker 1: even helping her. That's just sad, man. It's just pathetic
- 30:17Speaker 1: that parents do that. I mean, Big Bo was right
- 30:18Speaker 1: when he said, you know, when you... When you.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Big Boy's right. You know, if you can't help as
- 30:30Speaker 1: much as you can, but don't make it worse for them.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Money is not how you teach kids to be good people.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Money is not the way to teach them. Struggling is
- 30:42Speaker 1: not the way to teach them if you don't have to.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Parents back in the day didn't like Big Boy. Big
- 30:50Speaker 1: Boy's parents didn't do that. Didn't didn't teach.
- 30:52Speaker 7: Him to struggle on purpose. They had no choice.
- 30:56Speaker 1: But if you have a choice, man, just teach them.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Step up as a parent. Teach them morals and ethics
- 31:02Speaker 1: and respect and all of those things that you think
- 31:05Speaker 1: charging her $ 600 a month for rent is doing. It's not.
- 31:11Speaker 1: All right, what'd you send me here? Hey, Rome, helping
- 31:13Speaker 1: the kids with the first car is okay. Just let
- 31:16Speaker 1: it be a cheap one and help pay it off.
- 31:19Speaker 1: A person must learn responsibility and care about their car. Well,
- 31:22Speaker 1: what you're saying is wrong. You're right. No, you're right.
- 31:26Speaker 1: They should learn responsibility and care about their car, but
- 31:28Speaker 1: whether they pay for it or not is not how
- 31:31Speaker 1: they learn the responsibility and care about their car. I'm
- 31:34Speaker 1: just going to use your example, your text as a
- 31:38Speaker 1: specific example, okay? Kids are going to treat their stuff,
- 31:45Speaker 1: their items, they're not going to treat them any differently
- 31:49Speaker 1: because they're paying for them or not. They're going to
- 31:51Speaker 1: treat their stuff the way that you teach them to
- 31:54Speaker 1: treat their stuff. You guys believe that because they didn't
- 32:02Speaker 1: pay for it, that they're going to treat it less.
- 32:07Speaker 1: They're not going to take care of it. And that's
- 32:09Speaker 1: not the case. They're going to take care of their
- 32:11Speaker 1: things the way you treat them to take care of
- 32:13Speaker 1: their things. The way you show them how to take
- 32:17Speaker 1: care of something. It doesn't matter whether they've paid for
- 32:21Speaker 1: it or you paid for it. What it matters is
- 32:24Speaker 1: how you have taught them to take care of their items,
- 32:28Speaker 1: their personal stuff, their whatever, okay? I have a friend
- 32:36Speaker 1: who has, who you go to his house, and he's
- 32:41Speaker 1: an ex-military guy, very responsible man.
- 32:45Speaker 7: He makes his kids clean.
- 32:47Speaker 1: He makes his kids keep their rooms clean, tight, you know,
- 32:53Speaker 1: because of his, you know, military service. He doesn't let
- 32:57Speaker 1: them slack off on things like that. That's him teaching
- 33:00Speaker 1: his children how to take responsibility for their stuff and
- 33:04Speaker 1: other people's stuff. Now, whether his kids buy it or
- 33:08Speaker 1: he buys it, they're still going to take responsibility because
- 33:12Speaker 1: that's how they were taught. They're going to take care
- 33:15Speaker 1: because that's how they were taught. And that's how they
- 33:18Speaker 1: do it right now.
- 33:19Speaker 7: That's how they are.
- 33:20Speaker 8: I know.
- 33:21Speaker 1: But it's based on what they're taught, not because they
- 33:24Speaker 1: bought it or he bought it. The guy said, oh,
- 33:27Speaker 1: the guy who texted, he said, helping with the first
- 33:29Speaker 1: car is okay. Just let it be a cheap one
- 33:31Speaker 1: and help pay it off. A person must learn responsibility
- 33:34Speaker 1: and care about their car. And I told them, yes,
- 33:36Speaker 1: you're right, but they'll treat it how you teach them
- 33:39Speaker 1: to treat it. And that's what this person said. That's true, Rome.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I retract my statement. They will treat it how you
- 33:46Speaker 1: teach them to treat items growing up, and that's what
- 33:50Speaker 1: I mean. You guys will sit there and go, let
- 33:52Speaker 1: me be very clear. There's a guy that texted earlier
- 33:56Speaker 1: and said that his daughter, his friend's daughter, or somebody's
- 34:01Speaker 1: daughter in his life, not his, the dad is charging
- 34:05Speaker 1: her $ 600. She just graduated high school, and he's charging
- 34:08Speaker 1: $ 600 to live in the same room that she's lived
- 34:09Speaker 1: in Her whole life, right? How is charging her that
- 34:19Speaker 1: $ 600 going to change how she treats that room? It's not.
- 34:26Speaker 1: She's going to treat that room how she was taught
- 34:29Speaker 1: to treat it. And you parents are, I don't know
- 34:35Speaker 1: if you're stupid. I don't know if you're selfish. I
- 34:37Speaker 1: don't know if you think that's the way to teach
- 34:40Speaker 1: responsibility by charging her, but it's not. Some of the
- 34:49Speaker 1: worst kids in the world are rich kids who are
- 34:53Speaker 1: entitled little jackasses because their parents just threw money at
- 34:58Speaker 1: them Instead of actually raising them. And you guys know
- 35:02Speaker 1: what I'm talking about. Those buy their way out of everything.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Has nothing to do with money. And the problem is
- 35:11Speaker 1: a lot of you, a lot of you parents out there,
- 35:13Speaker 1: for some reason you think the way you teach responsibility
- 35:18Speaker 1: is to make your kids pay for something that they
- 35:21Speaker 1: can't afford. And make life harder for them. That's, one
- 35:30Speaker 1: of the dumbest things I've ever heard. And I don't know.
- 35:32Speaker 1: I don't understand it. I don't understand how you can
- 35:35Speaker 1: be that ignorant about the situation. Now, some of you
- 35:39Speaker 1: can't afford it. I get it.
- 35:40Speaker 7: Some people can't afford it. So, hey, you got to
- 35:43Speaker 7: do what you got to do.
- 35:44Speaker 1: I get it. But even then, once your kid turns
- 35:50Speaker 1: 18 to start charging them is ridiculous. Good morning, Hot.
- 35:53Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 35:54Speaker 8: Hey, Romeo, I agree with you.
- 35:57Speaker 5: Charging them is crazy.
- 36:00Speaker 1: It's ridiculous. I mean, what has changed between the senior
- 36:04Speaker 1: year of high school to the day that they graduate
- 36:06Speaker 1: that you all of a sudden go.
- 36:09Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. I'd like to know.
- 36:14Speaker 5: It's not teaching them anything.
- 36:17Speaker 1: It's not?
- 36:17Speaker 2: It's teaching them that you're being greedy because....
- 36:21Speaker 3: You know, with spending money on rent.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Like, my daughter just moved out.
- 36:25Speaker 9: She's 24.
- 36:25Speaker 3: She's had two jobs since she was 16.
- 36:28Speaker 2: She saved up enough to buy her a home.
- 36:30Speaker 3: I provided what she needed.
- 36:32Speaker 1: She had to buy what she wanted. Okay. I like that.
- 36:36Speaker 1: I like that idea. I like that.
- 36:39Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:40Speaker 2: And she's 24, just bought her first home.
- 36:43Speaker 4: Nice.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Like I said, she's been working since she was 16.
- 36:46Speaker 8: Two jobs.
- 36:47Speaker 2: And at 16, she had.
- 36:48Speaker 8: Her own home, three-bedroom home.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Well, that's nice.
- 36:51Speaker 6: She lived in Oklahoma.
- 36:53Speaker 8: Yeah, no, charging them is not teaching them anything.
- 36:57Speaker 2: If anything, it's just going to show that the parent is, like,
- 37:00Speaker 2: a money hungry.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 37:02Speaker 2: I don't think that that's not teaching them anywhere, but
- 37:04Speaker 2: you put them home.
- 37:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Yeah, unless we're missing something, but okay. All right,
- 37:09Speaker 1: thanks for calling.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Hey, if you find out what we're missing, let me know.
- 37:13Speaker 6: I will.
- 37:15Speaker 1: All right, thanks for calling.
- 37:17Speaker 6: All right.
- 37:17Speaker 1: What are you missing? If you were paying for that
- 37:21Speaker 1: home already and your child was living there rent-free until
- 37:28Speaker 1: they graduated high school, what has changed the day they
- 37:31Speaker 1: graduate high school that you now have to charge them?
- 37:37Speaker 1: It's because you think you're teaching them something. You're not.
- 37:42Speaker 1: You could teach kids responsibility and money at any given time.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Throwing them to the wolves is not the way to
- 37:54Speaker 1: teach them. That's just bad parenting. Arnie4254, 7 to 7. Yeah.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Let me see what Big Boy sent me real quick about...
- 38:07Speaker 1: treating their things. He said, yo, Rome, you're 100%. Their
- 38:13Speaker 1: first car doesn't have to be cheap or new. It
- 38:16Speaker 1: just has to be something you guys can afford. Exactly.
- 38:19Speaker 1: And they will treat it and take care of it
- 38:22Speaker 1: and care for it in the way that you taught
- 38:24Speaker 1: them to care for their things.
- 38:28Speaker 3: Wow, Rome.
- 38:28Speaker 1: What do you got here? Let's see what we got here. Hey,
- 38:31Speaker 1: good morning, Rome. Just wanted to let you know that
- 38:34Speaker 1: you're 100% right. My kids are taught to respect and
- 38:38Speaker 1: take care of their items. It doesn't matter the cost.
- 38:41Speaker 1: It also doesn't matter who pays for it. If it's
- 38:44Speaker 1: something they wanted, then respect it and take care of it.
- 38:49Speaker 1: We have nieces and nephews that will come over and
- 38:52Speaker 1: destroy the Dollar Tree item, and my kids will be
- 38:55Speaker 1: so upset that it was damaged because my kids are
- 38:58Speaker 1: taught to take care of their things.
- 38:59Speaker 7: You're right.
- 39:01Speaker 1: You parents are just trying to blame us your children
- 39:05Speaker 1: are blamed the fact that they are not responsible, good,
- 39:08Speaker 1: humble people on money. And that's not the way you
- 39:10Speaker 1: teach them. What do you got here?
- 39:13Speaker 3: Wow.
- 39:14Speaker 8: Wow.
- 39:15Speaker 1: That's too much. We charge our son just the Internet
- 39:20Speaker 1: bill because he raised the Internet power or something. He
- 39:23Speaker 1: made it stronger because he's a gamer and he got
- 39:25Speaker 1: a cell phone. So he pays for his cell phone line,
- 39:28Speaker 1: but that's all. We charge him. We want him to
- 39:31Speaker 1: succeed in life, not be in debt. Well, yeah, and
- 39:34Speaker 1: a cell phone bill and an internet bill is not
- 39:36Speaker 1: going to put your kid in debt. But you fools
- 39:39Speaker 1: are putting these kids in debt. For what reason? You know?
- 39:46Speaker 1: I know parents right now A couple of parents, friends
- 39:50Speaker 1: of mine, they make some decent money, but they got
- 39:55Speaker 1: kids in college, and they're over here paying, you know,
- 40:01Speaker 1: instead of just taking that money and letting them kids
- 40:04Speaker 1: figure it out. Like, these kids could be taking out
- 40:06Speaker 1: college loans, their kids, but these parents are going, no,
- 40:10Speaker 1: we got to figure it out so that kid doesn't
- 40:12Speaker 1: have a college loan when he graduates. So they're not struggling,
- 40:16Speaker 1: but money's tighter than it has to be. I mean,
- 40:21Speaker 1: they could be in Mexico every weekend, but they're trying
- 40:25Speaker 1: to make it work, spending that cash, so that their
- 40:28Speaker 1: kids don't have a college debt. Those are parents trying
- 40:32Speaker 1: to set their kids up for life, not trying to
- 40:34Speaker 1: bring them down. Oh, this guy sent me a text
- 40:37Speaker 1: message saying his boss is renting out a room to
- 40:40Speaker 1: his son for $ 1, 000.
- 40:40Speaker 6: Hey, Rome.
- 40:44Speaker 1: What did the parents do with the money that they
- 40:47Speaker 1: charged for rent? That's a good question. I mean, no idea.
- 40:52Speaker 1: I guess help improve their lives. I mean, the only
- 40:58Speaker 1: thing that you're doing when you charge your child for
- 41:03Speaker 1: something that's tough for them to afford is, I guess,
- 41:08Speaker 1: better your life.
- 41:10Speaker 7: Off your kids' backs?
- 41:11Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 41:13Speaker 7: You're not teaching them responsibility.
- 41:15Speaker 1: You can teach your kids responsibility without charging them anything.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Or you can teach them responsibility like a cell phone bill.
- 41:22Speaker 1: What is a cell phone bill? $ 35 a month? That
- 41:26Speaker 1: can teach them just as much responsibility as $ 1, 000 a
- 41:31Speaker 1: month for a room. So I don't know. That is
- 41:33Speaker 1: a very good question. Hey, Rome, it's like that song says,
- 41:40Speaker 1: spit What?
- 41:42Speaker 6: Oh.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Okay. I mean, it makes no sense, okay? And I
- 41:53Speaker 1: just don't know why you people do that, why you
- 41:55Speaker 1: do that to your kids. I mean, you're not doing
- 41:59Speaker 1: them any justice by putting them behind the eight ball,
- 42:01Speaker 1: putting them in debt before they even get a chance
- 42:04Speaker 1: at life. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 42:08Speaker 8: What do you got here?
- 42:10Speaker 1: Hey, Rome, if anyone disagrees with you, they're not the
- 42:14Speaker 1: smartest person. Well, they're not because I'm right. I mean,
- 42:18Speaker 1: it's just about, yeah, yeah, yeah. All right. Yo, Rome,
- 42:26Speaker 1: I teach my kids to take care of their stuff.
- 42:28Speaker 1: For example, their services on their car, brakes, changes, alternator battery,
- 42:35Speaker 1: the basics. Not only is it beneficial for life, But
- 42:41Speaker 1: your woman in the future is going to love that also.
- 42:44Speaker 1: But their mom teaches them just to take it to
- 42:47Speaker 1: your dad and he will fix it. Well, when I
- 42:51Speaker 1: tell them I won't fix it, but we will, now
- 42:55Speaker 1: I'm a punk dad cuz.
- 42:57Speaker 7: I don't want to help my kid.
- 42:59Speaker 1: In his defense, he says he doesn't want to do
- 43:05Speaker 1: it because he doesn't like to do it.
- 43:07Speaker 3: Well, damn.
- 43:09Speaker 1: If life was that easy to avoid, uh, get your
- 43:13Speaker 1: butt down there. Listen, uh, get your butt down there. Listen, that, uh, uh,
- 43:19Speaker 1: loosen or listen, loosen that bolt and change that oil
- 43:21Speaker 1: boy or you and your mom take it somewhere else
- 43:25Speaker 1: and pay for those services. Wait, what are we talking about? Wait,
- 43:29Speaker 1: I'm a little confused here. Um, Hold on, let me
- 43:34Speaker 1: try to break down what this guy's saying here. Oh,
- 43:37Speaker 1: they bring it to you because you're the dad. I
- 43:40Speaker 1: get what you're saying. And mom, oh, you want them
- 43:44Speaker 1: to do it, basic stuff on their car, but mom
- 43:50Speaker 1: just says take it to dad. Well, let me give
- 43:56Speaker 1: you an example of the way I think you should
- 43:58Speaker 1: handle that. Mom says take it to dad, okay? Okay.
- 44:02Speaker 1: You know what you should do as a father is
- 44:07Speaker 1: because you want them to be able to do it themselves, right?
- 44:11Speaker 1: So if mom says take it to dad, what they
- 44:15Speaker 1: need to do is take it to you and you
- 44:17Speaker 1: either supervise or you do it together. And that's how
- 44:22Speaker 1: you do that, you know. And now you're teaching them
- 44:27Speaker 1: how to do it themselves. So when dad's not there
- 44:32Speaker 1: for them to take it to, then they can do it.
- 44:39Speaker 1: When mom says, take it to dad, you go, dad's dead,
- 44:41Speaker 1: I can't. Well, then I know how to do it now.
- 44:46Speaker 1: But the problem also is, let me ask you guys
- 44:53Speaker 1: a question. All you moms and dads out there, How
- 44:57Speaker 1: much more responsible are you at 30 than you were
- 45:03Speaker 1: at 18? How much more responsible are you at 40
- 45:10Speaker 1: than you were at 20? The point being is, if
- 45:15Speaker 1: somebody says, take it to your dad, if somebody tells
- 45:19Speaker 1: a 19-year-old kid who doesn't, like you said, brakes, whatever, battery, whatever,
- 45:23Speaker 1: the basics, right? And the 19-year-old kid goes to mom
- 45:27Speaker 1: and says, mom, I need this stuff done. And mom says,
- 45:30Speaker 1: take it to dad. He's 19 years old. As the dad,
- 45:34Speaker 1: you should be doing it with him and teaching him
- 45:37Speaker 1: how to do it himself because he's 19. At 30,
- 45:42Speaker 1: he's going to be just like you. I'll do it
- 45:44Speaker 1: myself or I'll do what it takes, okay? That's what
- 45:47Speaker 1: I say. That's why I say you parents are lazy.
- 45:52Speaker 1: And you're not teaching them anything by telling him mom
- 45:55Speaker 1: and him by, by you saying, well, him and mom
- 45:58Speaker 1: can just take it to somebody and have it done
- 45:59Speaker 1: and pay for it, which I also don't have a
- 46:02Speaker 1: problem with. If you could afford for, if you can
- 46:05Speaker 1: afford to have somebody else do it, then that's fine also.
- 46:12Speaker 1: But what kind of responsibility does that teach you?
- 46:16Speaker 7: You know, All right, we got here.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Hey, Rome, the only valid reason I've seen for charging
- 46:24Speaker 1: rent was the parents saved that same money and later
- 46:27Speaker 1: return it when they were ready to move out on
- 46:29Speaker 1: their own without them knowing they were getting the money. Well, here,
- 46:33Speaker 1: and there's a problem with that. Here's the problem with that.
- 46:41Speaker 1: You're not teaching your kid to be responsible with saving
- 46:47Speaker 1: their own money. Okay. You're responsible as a parent. I
- 46:52Speaker 1: understand that you're going, okay, I'm going to take, this
- 46:56Speaker 1: is going to be great. I'm going to save my
- 46:57Speaker 1: kids money for him or her so that they have it.
- 47:01Speaker 1: So what, how are you teaching them to save their
- 47:06Speaker 1: own money? What is that teaching them? That's not teaching
- 47:10Speaker 1: them to be responsible enough on their own to save
- 47:14Speaker 1: enough for what they want to buy, such as a house,
- 47:19Speaker 1: a car, whatever the case may be. You're not teaching
- 47:21Speaker 1: them anything. Because they don't know it, you know? And
- 47:25Speaker 1: I agree that's a good thing. I understand that what
- 47:29Speaker 1: you think that is is a great thing, okay? You're
- 47:32Speaker 1: not taking your kids' money because you're giving it back
- 47:36Speaker 1: to them, hopefully in a lump sum where they can
- 47:38Speaker 1: use it for a huge purchase, maybe a car or
- 47:41Speaker 1: a house or whatever the case may be. But you're
- 47:43Speaker 1: not teaching them how to save money themselves. That's my point.
- 47:48Speaker 1: You guys want to use money to think you're teaching
- 47:52Speaker 1: your kids all these life lessons, but you're not. Money
- 47:56Speaker 1: is not how you teach them life lessons or how
- 48:01Speaker 1: to be responsible or how to be good people or
- 48:04Speaker 1: how to be humble and kind and respectful and all
- 48:08Speaker 1: of it, take care of their stuff. You guys think
- 48:11Speaker 1: money is the way to do that. It's not.
- 48:15Speaker 7: You have to actually parent.
- 48:17Speaker 1: Just like the guy who texted a few minutes ago
- 48:19Speaker 1: and said his kids don't want to do this. Help
- 48:22Speaker 1: do some basic stuff on their car. So they just
- 48:24Speaker 1: call mom. Mom says, take it to dad. Okay. It's
- 48:27Speaker 1: okay for mom to say, take it to dad. But
- 48:30Speaker 1: dad needs to sit there with them. Dad needs to sit,
- 48:36Speaker 1: needs to do the work with the kid. That's how
- 48:39Speaker 1: you teach them responsibility. By doing it with them. Or
- 48:43Speaker 1: showing him how to do it every time he wants it.
- 48:46Speaker 1: Every time mom says, take it to dad, dad needs
- 48:49Speaker 1: to go, all right, pull the car in the garage.
- 48:51Speaker 1: Let's do it. Or whatever the case may be. Okay?
- 48:56Speaker 1: That's how you teach them. Not charge them. Oh, hey, Rome.
- 49:02Speaker 1: What time is it? Oh, I don't know.
- 49:06Speaker 4: 643.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Hey, Rome. Hey, who do the Seahawks play today? Oh,
- 49:10Speaker 1: there is a game. The NFL starts today. The NFL
- 49:13Speaker 1: season starts today on a Wednesday. It usually starts on
- 49:16Speaker 1: a Thursday. But, yeah, they play the Patriots. It's a rematch.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Was that the Super Bowl last year? I can't even
- 49:24Speaker 1: remember what last year was like now. So you got
- 49:27Speaker 1: the Patriots and the Seahawks playing tonight.
- 49:35Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 49:35Speaker 1: Yeah, the NFL season kicks off game one tonight. I
- 49:40Speaker 1: think it's on NBC, ABC, NBC? I'm not totally sure.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Can't remember now. I think it's NBC. I think they're
- 49:49Speaker 1: calling it Sunday Night Football, so it's NBC. All righty, four, two, five, four,
- 49:54Speaker 1: seven to seven. You guys ready for football, man? I
- 49:57Speaker 1: will say this. I don't care about preseason. I don't
- 50:00Speaker 1: care about all the draft. I don't give a damn
- 50:02Speaker 1: about all that. But I did watch some real college
- 50:04Speaker 1: football over the weekend. And I got to say, I.
- 50:07Speaker 7: Think I'm kind of excited. I'm going to watch the
- 50:09Speaker 7: game tonight.
- 50:10Speaker 1: I'm ready. Oh, I will tell you, if you guys
- 50:13Speaker 1: haven't been to Just Wing It lately, they have these screens.
- 50:16Speaker 7: They're new screens.
- 50:17Speaker 1: They're wall-to-wall. They're absolutely incredible. They're not projection-y. Yeah, they're
- 50:23Speaker 1: not projection. They're insane how big. It's almost like the
- 50:27Speaker 1: whole wall is a screen. It's incredible. If you haven't
- 50:30Speaker 1: checked that out yet.
- 50:31Speaker 6: But, yeah.
- 50:34Speaker 1: You guys ready for some football?
- 50:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:38Speaker 1: I wonder what Seahawk Lou's going to burn tonight for
- 50:40Speaker 1: the game. What would you send me here? Yo, Rome,
- 50:43Speaker 1: you have a new Raiders song? I do have a
- 50:45Speaker 1: new Raiders song. It's actually, yeah, I finished it a
- 50:49Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago. Oh, yeah, we were going to
- 50:52Speaker 1: play it the first game of the season, huh? Yeah,
- 50:55Speaker 1: we'll play it in just a minute here. I do
- 50:57Speaker 1: have a new Raiders song, yes. And let me have
- 51:02Speaker 1: a cup of coffee, warm up my vocal cords. Maybe
- 51:05Speaker 1: I'll do it live. All right. Football season, though. Football
- 51:09Speaker 1: season does begin today. It is first game of the season.
- 51:12Speaker 1: You got the Seattle Seahawks, the New England Patriots. I
- 51:16Speaker 1: have no idea who's going to win. I don't pay
- 51:19Speaker 1: attention to preseason or any of the who drafted who
- 51:23Speaker 1: or who's what and what's what. So I just wait
- 51:26Speaker 1: until the season starts and then see how it all
- 51:28Speaker 1: plays out. See who's hurt, see who's not hurt, see
- 51:31Speaker 1: who's playing well, see who's not. So we'll see, right?
- 51:34Speaker 1: But yeah, I do got a new Raiders song. We'll
- 51:36Speaker 1: hit it off here in just a couple of minutes. Hey, Rome.
- 51:39Speaker 1: Good morning, Romeo. You can't sing the Faders probation nation
- 51:43Speaker 1: song yet. Wait till next Monday. It'll be more fitting,
- 51:47Speaker 1: especially after they lose. Well, it's football season. Football season,
- 51:53Speaker 1: start of football season. I don't even know who the
- 51:57Speaker 1: Raiders play this week. I haven't even looked at the schedule. Hey, Rome.
- 52:02Speaker 1: It's CeeLo Lewis having an NFL opening day party, and
- 52:07Speaker 1: he will barbecue in for 20 people. So he's barbecuing
- 52:11Speaker 1: for 20 people, 20 disappointed people. If I was going
- 52:16Speaker 1: to go to Seahawks lose for a barbecue tonight for
- 52:19Speaker 1: the Seattle game, I would eat first because you know
- 52:22Speaker 1: that meat's going to be burnt. And you know what?
- 52:25Speaker 1: Seahawk Lou kind of reminds me of a guy who
- 52:29Speaker 1: over-seasons his meat because he knows he's going to burn
- 52:32Speaker 1: it to try to save it. Yo, Rome, this is
- 52:35Speaker 1: Seahawk Lou.
- 52:36Speaker 7: I wanted to express my support for the Seahawks.
- 52:39Speaker 1: I'm excited to see them become back-to-back Super Bowl champions. Lou,
- 52:47Speaker 1: did you really buy a replica of the Super Bowl trophy?
- 52:51Speaker 1: What is it? The Lam.
- 52:54Speaker 7: The Lombardi Trophy?
- 52:59Speaker 1: I would be amazed if the Seahawks win tonight, let
- 53:03Speaker 1: alone win the Super Bowl again. But maybe. I guess.
- 53:09Speaker 9: Yeah, maybe.
- 53:10Speaker 1: I think the Seahawks are going to have a tough
- 53:11Speaker 1: time this year with the Rams. But we'll see what happens.
- 53:14Speaker 1: Lou might be right. He was right last year, right?
- 53:17Speaker 1: But then again, Lou's been saying that the Seahawks are
- 53:19Speaker 1: going to win the Super Bowl for the last 15 years.
- 53:21Speaker 1: So how'd that work out for him? Um, so what
- 53:26Speaker 1: are you going to burn tonight, Lou? Oh, Lou sent
- 53:28Speaker 1: me another text message. Hey, Rome. Also, Rome, I'm hosting
- 53:32Speaker 1: a big barbecue today for game day. You're welcome to
- 53:34Speaker 1: come by, come over to my garage and watch the
- 53:37Speaker 1: Seahawks win together. Well, Lou, I appreciate that. Where's Lou live? Wasco? Yeah, no,
- 53:47Speaker 1: I actually want to have a good dinner tonight, Lou.
- 53:50Speaker 1: Not whatever you're burning on the barbecue. Okay.
- 53:52Speaker 6: Okay.
- 53:53Speaker 1: But I appreciate the invite, Lou. Hey, good morning, Rome.
- 53:58Speaker 1: That guy played. What happened? What did you send me?
- 54:00Speaker 1: Good morning, Romeo. That guy played today. I want to
- 54:05Speaker 1: hear it. Oh, you want to hear the Raiders song.
- 54:09Speaker 1: I haven't played the new Raiders song yet. I haven't
- 54:12Speaker 1: did it yet.
- 54:13Speaker 6: Good morning, Al.
- 54:13Speaker 7: What's going on?
- 54:15Speaker 1: What's up, Rome?
- 54:15Speaker 6: Seahawk Lou, man.
- 54:17Speaker 1: Now you're calling and texting? What the hell, Lou?
- 54:21Speaker 8: I just want everybody to know. I want to say it,
- 54:24Speaker 8: and I just text it. We are going back-to-back. We
- 54:27Speaker 8: are Super Bowl champs going back-to-back.
- 54:29Speaker 1: Who's the last team that won back-to-back? The Chiefs?
- 54:32Speaker 8: I think it was the Chiefs.
- 54:34Speaker 1: Okay.
- 54:35Speaker 3: It's possible.
- 54:36Speaker 6: It's possible.
- 54:37Speaker 9: It's doable.
- 54:39Speaker 1: Okay.
- 54:40Speaker 8: And you're invited to Rome. I'm going to have quite
- 54:44Speaker 8: a bit of people, man, surprisingly on Wednesday.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't. Your barbecue does not look good, Lou.
- 54:53Speaker 10: Come on, Ron.
- 54:54Speaker 1: It could only get better. I can't drive all the
- 54:57Speaker 1: way to Wasco to have bad food.
- 55:01Speaker 8: What if you cook your own meat, the one you're
- 55:03Speaker 8: going to eat, and then I'll take over after?
- 55:08Speaker 1: All right. We'll see what happens today.
- 55:11Speaker 8: We'll work it out, man. We'll work it out. You
- 55:13Speaker 8: know what I mean?
- 55:16Speaker 4: All right.
- 55:16Speaker 1: All right, Jerome. Oh, have you ever had to do
- 55:21Speaker 1: that before? I've had to do that before. Go to
- 55:24Speaker 1: somebody's house that you know can't grill, so you just
- 55:26Speaker 1: make your own. Yeah, you just grill it yourself. Yeah.
- 55:30Speaker 1: All right. Well, are the Seahawks going to go back
- 55:35Speaker 1: to back? According to Lou. Oh, Seahawk Lou's having a
- 55:41Speaker 1: big barbecue today. For those of you that know him, apparently.
- 55:45Speaker 1: For those of you that know him, he's invited a
- 55:47Speaker 1: bunch of people over to barbecue at his house. Because
- 55:49Speaker 1: opening day of the NFL is today and you got
- 55:51Speaker 1: the Seattle Seahawks and the Patriots going at it. So
- 55:57Speaker 1: did anybody not get invited to Seahawks lose that he
- 56:00Speaker 1: doesn't know? Maybe we're I hope not. I hope nobody
- 56:04Speaker 1: in Wasco is listening right now and Seahawks didn't invite you.
- 56:08Speaker 1: And it hurts your feelings because nobody likes to not
- 56:12Speaker 1: get invited to things.
- 56:13Speaker 2: Right.
- 56:13Speaker 1: Except me. I'm glad when people don't invite me. Hey, Rome,
- 56:18Speaker 1: I agree with you. All them 20 people going to
- 56:20Speaker 1: go to Lou's Barbecue should eat at home before going
- 56:24Speaker 1: over there. Yeah, absolutely. Seahawk Lou, I don't know why
- 56:31Speaker 1: he believes he knows how to barbecue. He burns everything.
- 56:35Speaker 1: I mean, the guy burns everything. He is Cajun style
- 56:40Speaker 1: to the point where you got to put sauce on
- 56:42Speaker 1: it just so it'll go down. So, yeah, you guys,
- 56:46Speaker 1: if you're one of the 20 people going to lose
- 56:48Speaker 1: tonight for the game, eat first. And if you're one
- 56:55Speaker 1: of the people that didn't get invited, be happy you
- 56:58Speaker 1: didn't get invited. Hey, Rome, you going to be at
- 57:02Speaker 1: Village Fest this weekend? You know what? I don't know
- 57:05Speaker 1: if I'm going to be at Village Fest this weekend. Yeah,
- 57:09Speaker 1: I don't know. I haven't really decided. I know it's
- 57:11Speaker 1: going to be pretty fun, though. I know there's a...
- 57:13Speaker 1: I think Hot 94.1 is going to have a stage
- 57:16Speaker 1: or something like that. Some of the things I heard.
- 57:17Speaker 7: But I'm not totally sure yet.
- 57:21Speaker 9: Maybe.
- 57:23Speaker 6: Why?
- 57:23Speaker 1: You got tickets? Because I ain't got none. Hey, Rome.
- 57:26Speaker 1: Top of the AM. I'm still waiting on the first
- 57:29Speaker 1: letter of the day, my brother.
- 57:31Speaker 8: Um.
- 57:36Speaker 1: This is Slick. All right, all right. Oh, yeah, you're
- 57:39Speaker 1: doing the contest. What are the letters for? Letters are
- 57:41Speaker 1: to win something. Yeah, all right. Hey, what up, Rome? Hey,
- 57:46Speaker 1: what's up, Rome? Wasco resident here. Well, I'll be there
- 57:50Speaker 1: at Siak Lu's Barbecue making sure. Take my Pepto Bismol
- 57:54Speaker 1: with me just to be safe. What I want is
- 57:58Speaker 1: how Siak Lu got the local supermarket to sponsor him.
- 58:07Speaker 1: From what I understand, Seahawks lose a celebrity in Wasco.
- 58:11Speaker 1: He might be the mayor of Wasco. They gave him
- 58:14Speaker 1: the key to the city. I heard Seahawks lose big time. Hey, Rome,
- 58:20Speaker 1: who you got winning the game tonight? I don't know.
- 58:23Speaker 1: Probably the Seahawks. I really don't know. I haven't paid attention.
- 58:26Speaker 1: You guys know I don't pay attention to preseason, so
- 58:29Speaker 1: I don't know. Seahawks, Patriots, Pats. I was going to
- 58:33Speaker 1: say the Pats, the Patriots. Yeah, I don't know. We'll see.
- 58:38Speaker 1: Already 4-2, 5-4, 7-7. Good morning, Romeo. Hey, oh, that
- 58:43Speaker 1: time of year. You could smell it in the air.
- 58:45Speaker 1: Desperate Raider fans speaking. They are Super Bowl bound. Hands
- 58:51Speaker 1: to cowgirls thinking the same. And right behind them, a
- 58:56Speaker 1: van full of bandwagon fans in red jerseys thinking this
- 59:02Speaker 1: is their year. even though harsh reality tell you that
- 59:06Speaker 1: it's been 30 years since the, uh, they've won. Let
- 59:12Speaker 1: the fun begin. Well, I mean, there's no reason anything's
- 59:17Speaker 1: going to be different this year for the Cowboys or
- 59:19Speaker 1: the Niners, right? I mean, or the Raiders. I bet
- 59:22Speaker 1: the Raiders don't win four games. I mean, my gosh.
- 59:27Speaker 1: I didn't even look at the schedule. I was going
- 59:28Speaker 1: to look at the schedule. Usually football starts on Friday.
- 59:33Speaker 1: I mean, it starts on Thursday. So I don't really
- 59:37Speaker 1: pay much attention to Wednesday's kind of a new thing.
- 59:40Speaker 1: Let's see. We talk about the schedule on Friday. But
- 59:43Speaker 1: you've got Seattle and New England tonight. Tomorrow you've got
- 59:46Speaker 1: Los Angeles and San Francisco. I guess we're going to
- 59:50Speaker 1: find out who's who tomorrow night. Oh, the Raiders got
- 59:56Speaker 1: to play Miami. Does Miami even have a football team?
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: Who's their quarterback?
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: Huh.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: I didn't even know Miami still had a football team.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: Game one, they might win the first week. They might win.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Then now Monday night, you got the Chiefs in Kansas.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: You got Kansas City and Denver.
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: Huh.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: That'll be interesting to see what's going on.
- 1:00:20Speaker 6: R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 1:00:24Speaker 9: What's up, Romeo? Good morning.
- 1:00:25Speaker 8: What up, brother?
- 1:00:27Speaker 9: Hey, quick question, brother. Do you still do the football
- 1:00:30Speaker 9: play that you.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: Used to do?
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no. I don't do that no more.
- 1:00:34Speaker 9: That was pretty fun, man.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: Yeah, no, that's too hard for me to manage. That
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: just takes up too much time for me. Right on.
- 1:00:42Speaker 9: And I got my Raiders winning about seven games, man.
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: Come on.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Seven games.
- 1:00:46Speaker 10: At least.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: At least seven games. Hold on. Let me see real quick.
- 1:00:51Speaker 8: That's not counting the division, of course, because I was.
- 1:00:54Speaker 9: I mean, if we go 0-6 against them, we'll at
- 1:00:56Speaker 9: least win six games.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: You might beat the Dolphins. You're not beating the Chargers.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: I don't know what this is. I can't even tell
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: you the Saints. The Chiefs is always going to split
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: the Chiefs.
- 1:01:06Speaker 8: Dolphins, Saints, Jets, Browns, Titans.
- 1:01:09Speaker 9: And there's one more in there.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: Oh, you might be right. Cardinals.
- 1:01:13Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: You might be right.
- 1:01:16Speaker 9: Maybe.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: All right.
- 1:01:19Speaker 9: Give us some credit here, man. But, hey, again, it's
- 1:01:21Speaker 9: the Raiders, man.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Hey, last place in the division is still good. All right.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: What did you text me here? You said, hey, good morning, Romeo.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: September 1st is the start of holiday season. Christmas decorations
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: already out. Bring out those Raider Christmas songs, too. Let's
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: get an encore. I don't know about all that. Hey,
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: good morning, Rome.
- 1:01:45Speaker 7: It's Gilrod.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Love the new Raiders song. Okay.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:01:50Speaker 7: Rome stole my coworkers.
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: What? Took him three and a half hours to realize
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: it was missing. Can someone spell fraud? Hashtag Raider Dave
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: might have saved the company thousands. I don't know what
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: Raider Dave is talking about. Hey, Rome, it's CeeLo. Do
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: you think Lou can get better in barbecuing by the
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: end of the NFL season this year? Yeah, I don't
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: see why not. Why can't Lou become a better barbecuer?
- 1:02:21Speaker 7: I'm sure he can handle it.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: We'll see what happens. I mean, he just has to practice.
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: The problem is Lou likes it burnt. That's the problem,
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: you know? So everybody else has to eat it burnt.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: It's been a while since we've gotten into the housing
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: market and what's going on in Bakersfield with housing, whether
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: I don't know what interest rates are at right now,
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: and I don't know how many houses are on the
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: market or what's available, what you guys are looking for.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: I was actually just talking to a guy, though, on,
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: when was it, Saturday night? He's been trying to buy
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: a house for years, and he finally got into one.
- 1:02:56Speaker 7: He was so excited. That's why we bring Marco in.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: Good morning, Marco.
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: Good morning. How are you doing, Roman?
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: I'm doing fabulous. How are you?
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: I'm good, man. Thank you for having me.
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Marco's from Selling Bakersfield and about 19 other different companies
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: he's got going.
- 1:03:10Speaker 9: So....
- 1:03:12Speaker 10: Not 19.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Where do you want to start at? Where do you
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: want to start?
- 1:03:15Speaker 10: You know, it's interesting because we're going to start from
- 1:03:17Speaker 10: the beginning. When I started coming on your show many
- 1:03:19Speaker 10: years ago.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: Oh, short sales.
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: Many moons ago... Yeah. We were talking about short sales, right?
- 1:03:24Speaker 8: Okay.
- 1:03:24Speaker 10: Because the crash had just happened in 2007. Everybody knows
- 1:03:27Speaker 10: what happened in 2008. Yeah. And then, you know, people
- 1:03:31Speaker 10: just were losing homes left and right. They didn't know
- 1:03:33Speaker 10: what to do. Banks were foreclosing. That's not where we're
- 1:03:36Speaker 10: at today, Romeo. So don't get it wrong. But we
- 1:03:40Speaker 10: are seeing more distressed homes on the market.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: When you mean distressed, you mean people... Pre-foreclosures.
- 1:03:47Speaker 10: We're seeing a lot more pre-foreclosures, notices of defaults going out,
- 1:03:51Speaker 10: people not making their mortgage payments. And there are notices
- 1:03:55Speaker 10: of trustee sales. In other words, there's going to be
- 1:03:58Speaker 10: houses selling in the auction downtown. So that's what I
- 1:04:02Speaker 10: mean by distressed.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:04:04Speaker 5: I think– I don't know why. I don't know if
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: it's because people got themselves in over their heads after
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: COVID or whatnot. The market slowed down. Okay. Interest rates
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: went up.
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:04:15Speaker 10: It's harder to sell your house in today's market than
- 1:04:19Speaker 10: it was two years ago.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Why is it harder to sell today? Because of interest rates?
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: I mean, everybody I talk to says, I can't sell
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: because my interest rate is too good. And if I
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: sell and go buy again, I'll have a higher interest rate.
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: Well, those are the people that bought a long time ago.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:04:36Speaker 10: Those are the people that bought in the threes and fours. But,
- 1:04:39Speaker 10: you know, we're talking about people that bought... Just, I
- 1:04:42Speaker 10: don't know, maybe a couple years ago, and the market
- 1:04:45Speaker 10: was just booming, and now it's not.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: Has housing prices dropped?
- 1:04:50Speaker 10: Housing prices have not necessarily dropped, but it's not a
- 1:04:55Speaker 10: seller's market like it was because of wars, because of
- 1:04:59Speaker 10: interest rates.
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: I mean, you know what's going on out there.
- 1:05:02Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: There's a lot going on. Prices are going up. California's
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: tough to live in nowadays. If you're not already in
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: a house, it makes it tough to live in. But now,
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: guess what? So what are we going to do about it?
- 1:05:13Speaker 10: Well, so people may have equity and not know it, okay?
- 1:05:18Speaker 10: And the reason I say that is because even though
- 1:05:21Speaker 10: it's harder to sell a house right now, the houses
- 1:05:24Speaker 10: are still selling.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:05:25Speaker 10: But you have to make sure that the condition of
- 1:05:28Speaker 10: your house is not, you know, it can't be, you know,
- 1:05:32Speaker 10: the old white countertops and the old golden cabinets.
- 1:05:36Speaker 5: A lot of people don't have the money to.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: Up Oh, so when they look, they want to just
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: come in and they want it done up the way that.
- 1:05:43Speaker 5: Those houses are selling.
- 1:05:45Speaker 10: They're selling. When you upgrade your house, you remodel your house,
- 1:05:48Speaker 10: they're selling. So that's what we want to talk about
- 1:05:50Speaker 10: today is if you don't have the money to remodel
- 1:05:53Speaker 10: your house, what can we do?
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: So we're not necessarily... Some of these people who have
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: equity in their homes, if they can get it, ready
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: and sold before foreclosure is that what we're trying to
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: do yes okay.
- 1:06:07Speaker 10: Or you know maybe they have some equity and they
- 1:06:09Speaker 10: don't but the house isn't moving because the condition of
- 1:06:12Speaker 10: the house is not where it needs to be or
- 1:06:14Speaker 10: maybe they don't have equity and that's where we do
- 1:06:16Speaker 10: talk about short sales if they don't have equity and
- 1:06:18Speaker 10: they're upside down that's what you call upside down right
- 1:06:20Speaker 10: so you owe let's just say you owe a hundred
- 1:06:22Speaker 10: thousand dollars but your house is only worth eighty thousand
- 1:06:25Speaker 10: dollars you're upside down twenty thousand dollars right And so
- 1:06:28Speaker 10: that's where you would talk about short sales.
- 1:06:30Speaker 5: So we can talk about all of it.
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: Well, give out your phone number.
- 1:06:37Speaker 8: 661-444-0178.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: And you started a web. What do you got?
- 1:06:39Speaker 7: FlipYourHouse.com?
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: FlipYourHouses.
- 1:06:41Speaker 8: Houses.
- 1:06:42Speaker 7: FlipYourHouses.com.
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: Yes, we're going to help your audience flip their houses.
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: As opposed to selling it to somebody else who has
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: cash in hand.
- 1:06:50Speaker 9: Correct.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: Just so you're out of it, you could do it
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: yourself so that you can actually make some money off
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: it yourself, right? Is that what you're trying to do?
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: Trying to help people with.
- 1:06:59Speaker 5: We're going to help people flip their own houses instead
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: of selling it to an investor.
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: And then he low balls you and you and you you.
- 1:07:06Speaker 10: Get less than what it's worth because you don't have
- 1:07:08Speaker 10: the money to fix it up and sell it yourself.
- 1:07:10Speaker 10: We're going to help you fix it. and sell it
- 1:07:14Speaker 10: and maximize the equity that you have.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: All right, Marco's here from Selling Bakersfield. We're going to
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: talk a little bit about all of it. Marco's from
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Selling Bakersfield. Good morning, Marco. Good morning. Okay, so distressed housing.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: This is one of the things that I hadn't heard
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: of in a while. When you say distressed, people might
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: be in a position where they can't make their mortgage payments.
- 1:07:33Speaker 5: Correct.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: For whatever reason. I don't know what that reason is.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Have the values of homes dropped in Bakersfield?
- 1:07:40Speaker 5: They have not.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: They have not.
- 1:07:42Speaker 6: No.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: So one of the things that you want to talk
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: about is how we can– or how you can help
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: these people get out.
- 1:07:49Speaker 7: Of their homes before it affects what?
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: Well, before the bank forecloses on them. Okay.
- 1:07:56Speaker 10: There's a lot of options now. Back in the– after
- 1:08:01Speaker 10: the crash, 2007, 2008– First.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: Of all, that was 20 years ago. Nobody remembers that.
- 1:08:06Speaker 10: There wasn't a lot of options because people were just
- 1:08:08Speaker 10: way upside down. Everybody was losing their homes at the
- 1:08:11Speaker 10: same time, right?
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: Yes, yes, yes.
- 1:08:12Speaker 10: Well, that's not what's happening, but we do want to
- 1:08:14Speaker 10: talk about it because it is happening to some people.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: To some people.
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: You've received a notice of default. That's the first thing
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: you'll get.
- 1:08:25Speaker 10: When you miss your payments after like two or three payments,
- 1:08:27Speaker 10: the bank will send you a.
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: Notice of default.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: That's how long it takes, two or three?
- 1:08:30Speaker 5: Two or three months, yeah.
- 1:08:32Speaker 10: And then that notice of default is basically saying, hey,
- 1:08:35Speaker 10: you've missed your payments. We're going to start foreclosure process
- 1:08:38Speaker 10: here if you don't catch up.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: Okay, if you don't catch up.
- 1:08:40Speaker 10: And so then if you don't catch up, then they
- 1:08:43Speaker 10: start the foreclosure process.
- 1:08:44Speaker 7: So let me ask you this.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: Now you have a website called flipyourhouses.com to help people.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: How long does the process take if you– let's say
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: you've gotten that notice.
- 1:09:00Speaker 7: That you're talking about.
- 1:09:01Speaker 10: Yep.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: And I'm going, okay, I hear Marco on the radio.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: I got to call him today. I got the notice.
- 1:09:05Speaker 7: Last week, two weeks ago.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: And how long, is that enough time for somebody to
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: do what they need to do to get out of
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: their house before it's foreclosed on?
- 1:09:16Speaker 10: As long as you don't have a notice of sale,
- 1:09:18Speaker 10: that's a different notice. That's a trustee sale, right? Notice
- 1:09:21Speaker 10: of trustee sale. That means that there's already a date
- 1:09:24Speaker 10: where your bank is going to sell your house in
- 1:09:26Speaker 10: the auction. As long as you don't have that, but
- 1:09:29Speaker 10: time is of the essence because every month that passes,
- 1:09:33Speaker 10: the bank is getting closer to that.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: Now, the banks don't have a set schedule when they
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: do this, right? The banks, I mean, there's no saying, oh, well,
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: we're going to do this in 30 more days or
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: 40 more. They just kind of, whenever the paperwork lands
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: on somebody's desk and whatever, they take a couple of
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: days off work and it doesn't get done. They're not in, right?
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: If I understand correctly.
- 1:09:54Speaker 10: It's you could pretty much bank on, hey, within, you know,
- 1:09:57Speaker 10: within this period of time, your house is going to
- 1:09:59Speaker 10: go into auction.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:10:01Speaker 5: Sometimes they'll drop the ball and it's a little longer.
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: Sure.
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: Whatever. But, you know, time is of the essence. And
- 1:10:06Speaker 5: guess what?
- 1:10:07Speaker 10: Every month that passes, there's more fees being tacked on
- 1:10:10Speaker 10: to your default. And so it's going to be harder
- 1:10:14Speaker 10: to get your equity out. So you do want to
- 1:10:16Speaker 10: move fast. You don't want to be like, oh, you know,
- 1:10:18Speaker 10: I'm going to let time go.
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: By and see what happens.
- 1:10:20Speaker 10: Nothing good is going to happen if you let time lapse, right?
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: Real quick about short sales. If you've already got the
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: date that your house is going to be sold, whatever
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: that notice is, can you still short sell it to
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: stop it all?
- 1:10:36Speaker 10: We can stop it, yeah. We have to move fast,
- 1:10:39Speaker 10: but we can start talking to the bank. And then,
- 1:10:42Speaker 10: you know, there's also bankruptcy.
- 1:10:45Speaker 5: That stops. a a trustee sale.
- 1:10:48Speaker 10: Okay so if you need to file bankruptcy and and
- 1:10:50Speaker 10: that that can help also stop the trustee sale so
- 1:10:53Speaker 10: there's ways to do it we we just you know
- 1:10:56Speaker 10: like i said you don't want to wait on this
- 1:10:58Speaker 10: if you already if you're already a couple months behind
- 1:11:00Speaker 10: yeah you know we we want.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: To move so basically if you're listening right now and
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: you've having some problems with your mortgage payments then you
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: probably should call marco today and just get the process
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: and figure out where you are what can be done,
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: and what is the best option for you.
- 1:11:15Speaker 10: Exactly.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: Because sometimes the best option. All right, Marco's here. Selling Bakersfield.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: I don't know his number.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: 661-444-0178.
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: I've only known you for 20 years.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: Well, my house isn't going through foreclosure yet, but maybe.
- 1:11:31Speaker 6: All right.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Marco's here from Sully Bakersfield. We're talking about what's going
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: on in Bakersfield with the housing market. Good morning, Marco.
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: Good morning.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: Okay. Let's talk about this. Um, I know you, uh,
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: Marco actually cares about helping you guys, believe it or not. Uh, actually,
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: he actually cares about helping you guys. Um, that's funny. Um, Well, because,
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: you know, a lot of people are just trying to
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: sell stuff and buy stuff and whatever, but you actually
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: care about these people.
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: Yeah, man, I've been there.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:12:03Speaker 5: I wish somebody cared to help me when I needed help.
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: Mm-hmm. But, you know.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: I get it. I'm not arguing with you. I've known
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: you a long time.
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: That's why I love your show, man. You care, too.
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: You care, too, Romeo.
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: You know that. I just care about my community. I
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: don't want to see it go to hell. FlipYourHouses.com. Now,
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: explain this to me. What's going on here? Okay.
- 1:12:23Speaker 10: So, you know, a lot of investors, flipping homes has
- 1:12:27Speaker 10: become a huge thing, right?
- 1:12:29Speaker 5: Ever since HGTV.
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: Now I watch them flipping Aloha, Aloha flipping, whatever it is.
- 1:12:35Speaker 10: And so, you know, everybody dreams of flipping a house,
- 1:12:38Speaker 10: but let's be honest, a lot of people don't have
- 1:12:40Speaker 10: the cash to do it.
- 1:12:41Speaker 5: And so, you know, they just kind of watch these
- 1:12:43Speaker 5: shows or whatever.
- 1:12:44Speaker 10: And so investors come in to cities like Bakersfield, a
- 1:12:47Speaker 10: lot of times they're out of town investors. And then
- 1:12:49Speaker 10: They buy homes that are in distress, people that can't
- 1:12:52Speaker 10: afford to make their mortgage payment or whatever, and then
- 1:12:54Speaker 10: they turn around, they flip, and they make a profit.
- 1:12:58Speaker 10: What we are going to do is we're going to–
- 1:13:00Speaker 10: it's just like the website says, flip your houses. We're
- 1:13:02Speaker 10: going to help you flip your houses. How do you
- 1:13:06Speaker 10: do that? Let's just say you have a house. You
- 1:13:08Speaker 10: want to sell it, but it's not in good condition.
- 1:13:11Speaker 10: It needs a lot of work, and you don't have
- 1:13:13Speaker 10: the money to fix it.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:13:15Speaker 10: Well, what's going to happen is if you put it
- 1:13:17Speaker 10: on the market in that condition, two things are going
- 1:13:19Speaker 10: to happen. Number one, it's going to sit there for
- 1:13:21Speaker 10: a little bit because it's not very attractive unless an
- 1:13:24Speaker 10: investor comes in, which is the second thing that can happen,
- 1:13:27Speaker 10: and they lowball you. So let's just say your house
- 1:13:30Speaker 10: is worth $ 250, 000. They're going to say, oh, you know what?
- 1:13:33Speaker 10: It needs a lot of work. I'm going to give
- 1:13:34Speaker 10: you $ 200, 000 cash.
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:13:36Speaker 5: Well, now you just lost some equity there, right?
- 1:13:39Speaker 3: Sure, sure, sure.
- 1:13:40Speaker 10: What we're going to do is we're going to help
- 1:13:41Speaker 10: you to remodel your house, to upgrade it, to put
- 1:13:45Speaker 10: the money where it counts so that that house that
- 1:13:48Speaker 10: maybe is worth, you know, once it's fixed up could
- 1:13:50Speaker 10: be worth 350.
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: You never know, right?
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:13:53Speaker 10: Obviously, the numbers have to make sense. So you take
- 1:13:56Speaker 10: advantage of two things. You're able to upgrade your house
- 1:14:00Speaker 10: so that you can sell your house faster and sell
- 1:14:02Speaker 10: it for max profit.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: Now, when you do that, obviously, you have a contractor
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: come in, do all the work, and they're going to
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: get their money from the sale of the house, right?
- 1:14:16Speaker 10: Correct.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: So whatever that costs, then the homeowner walks away with
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: whatever profit is left after all that.
- 1:14:22Speaker 10: So the contractor comes in, and they basically pay for
- 1:14:26Speaker 10: the repairs, the upgrades. Obviously, they're not going to do
- 1:14:31Speaker 10: anything that's unnecessary, right? They're going to put the money
- 1:14:34Speaker 10: where it counts, where it's going to– they're going to
- 1:14:36Speaker 10: bring a designer. They're going to say, okay, this is
- 1:14:37Speaker 10: where this house is right now. If we do this
- 1:14:41Speaker 10: to it, it could be worth this much. And so
- 1:14:44Speaker 10: the homeowner doesn't pay anything out of pocket. The contractor
- 1:14:47Speaker 10: carries that cost. And then if the profit is worth
- 1:14:51Speaker 10: it for both the seller and the contractor, then they
- 1:14:54Speaker 10: split that profit.
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: Oh, I see what you're saying. You get what I'm saying? Okay.
- 1:14:57Speaker 10: So, yeah, the contractor has to get paid their money
- 1:14:59Speaker 10: for putting it into the house, but then there's a profit.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: For the homeowner, there could be a profit for them
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: instead of being low-balled by somebody else who's going to
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: flip it themselves.
- 1:15:11Speaker 5: That's right.
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:15:12Speaker 5: That's exactly right. More money in the homeowner's pocket.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: Hopefully.
- 1:15:15Speaker 5: Hopefully.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: Hopefully. As long as the numbers make sense. Flippingyourhouses.com.
- 1:15:19Speaker 10: Oh, no.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: Flipyourhouses.com.
- 1:15:21Speaker 5: Flipyourhouses.com.
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: You know where you come up with this stuff.
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: And then guess what? The homeowner's going to learn how
- 1:15:28Speaker 5: to flip their house.
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: Stop.
- 1:15:32Speaker 5: I think we can make a TV show out of this.
- 1:15:35Speaker 6: No.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: You should just help people in the way that you do.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: There you go.
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: There you go.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Stay out of TV.
- 1:15:40Speaker 5: There you go. Boom.
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: The housing market in Bakersfield. Let's talk about it. Selling Bakersfield.
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: Marco's here. Marco, how is the housing market in Bakersfield
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: in general right now? You know.
- 1:15:51Speaker 10: In general, out of California, I think it's doing the best.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:15:56Speaker 10: However, it is slowing down, okay, for sellers especially. So
- 1:16:03Speaker 10: still a good place to buy if you look at
- 1:16:06Speaker 10: it from the greater scheme of things. Okay.
- 1:16:09Speaker 5: To live in California is expensive.
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: We all know that.
- 1:16:13Speaker 10: But believe it or not, Bakersfield is still– affordable i
- 1:16:17Speaker 10: know it doesn't feel like it yeah.
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: It seems like the houses are but it's still.
- 1:16:22Speaker 5: But it's still affordable compared to the rest of california.
- 1:16:24Speaker 10: Okay okay so you know it's still it's still the
- 1:16:27Speaker 10: the in people's attention um investors are still buying here
- 1:16:32Speaker 10: and so but we you know we want we want
- 1:16:33Speaker 10: to help our local citizens and so that's why we're
- 1:16:36Speaker 10: here if you want to buy a house we can
- 1:16:39Speaker 10: help you if you want to sell a house we
- 1:16:40Speaker 10: can help you if you're If you're in distress, we
- 1:16:43Speaker 10: can help you.
- 1:16:44Speaker 5: There's different options.
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: I want to talk to you about buying houses. What
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: do people do nowadays? Where do we start for buying
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: a house?
- 1:16:51Speaker 7: People are out there looking to buy a house.
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: Same as always.
- 1:16:53Speaker 10: You talk to a realtor, and that realtor is probably
- 1:16:56Speaker 10: working with a lender. And I've been selling real estate
- 1:16:59Speaker 10: in Bakersfield for over 20 years.
- 1:17:02Speaker 5: And I have a really good relationship with my lender.
- 1:17:03Speaker 5: He's my friend. I trust him.
- 1:17:06Speaker 10: And so that's who I refer to a potential buyer.
- 1:17:09Speaker 10: The first step is to get you qualified, pre-qualified to
- 1:17:11Speaker 10: buy the house.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:17:13Speaker 10: So we got to check your income or the lender
- 1:17:15Speaker 10: has to check your income, your assets, your credit, all
- 1:17:17Speaker 10: of that, and then get you pre-qualified. And we go
- 1:17:21Speaker 10: out and start house hunting. We look for a house.
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: Are there a lot of houses available in Bakersfield right now?
- 1:17:26Speaker 10: Yeah, there actually are more houses on the market than
- 1:17:30Speaker 10: compared to a year ago.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: Is that good or bad?
- 1:17:33Speaker 5: Well, that's the whole supply and demand thing again.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Sure.
- 1:17:35Speaker 10: That's why it's not such a seller's market because there's
- 1:17:38Speaker 10: more supply than there is demand.
- 1:17:40Speaker 5: So it's good for buyers.
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:17:42Speaker 10: It's good for buyers. You can negotiate more because there's
- 1:17:46Speaker 10: more inventory out there. It's taking longer to sell.
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: Well, why aren't people just staying in their homes more longer?
- 1:17:52Speaker 10: Because people are not ever happy with what they have, man.
- 1:17:55Speaker 10: The grass is always greener on the other side. It's
- 1:17:58Speaker 10: America's bigger, better, newer.
- 1:18:00Speaker 5: That's what we live. That's how we live. Bigger, better, newer.
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: Is it better in today's market for somebody to sell
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: and buy something? Everything's financial. I know that. But is
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: it better for somebody to remodel than it is for
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: them to sell and try to find something new?
- 1:18:21Speaker 7: Newer, better, whatever they're looking for.
- 1:18:23Speaker 5: It all depends, right?
- 1:18:24Speaker 10: I mean, you know, there's obviously, there's life circumstances. There's divorce,
- 1:18:29Speaker 10: there's death, there's new babies, there's new marriages. You know,
- 1:18:32Speaker 10: there's so many things.
- 1:18:33Speaker 5: You're moving out of your parents. So it all depends, right?
- 1:18:35Speaker 10: If you're just buying something just because you want something newer,
- 1:18:40Speaker 10: then yeah. I mean, if you have a good interest
- 1:18:41Speaker 10: rate in your house and you've owned it for a
- 1:18:43Speaker 10: few years, then just remodel what you have, right?
- 1:18:46Speaker 6: Sure.
- 1:18:47Speaker 5: Make that nicer, newer.
- 1:18:49Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:18:50Speaker 5: But if you need to downgrade, then you can't do that, right?
- 1:18:52Speaker 5: You have to sell and downgrade.
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: Or if you do need to upgrade, you need more room,
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: you've got babies coming, whatever.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: Sure, sure, sure.
- 1:18:58Speaker 5: You can't do that either, right?
- 1:19:00Speaker 10: But if you want something nicer, if you want a pool,
- 1:19:03Speaker 10: if you want things that you can actually do to
- 1:19:04Speaker 10: your house, then my recommendation is, yeah, just stay where
- 1:19:08Speaker 10: you're at.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: Stay where you're at. Yeah.
- 1:19:10Speaker 6: All right.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: Marco's here from Selling Bakersfield. You can go to sellingbakersfield.com
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: or for those of you out there that may be
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: having some issues with making your mortgage payments, you want
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: to go to flipyourhouses.com. And give them the phone number, Marco, so.
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: They can call you. Yeah, 661-444-0178.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: Marco's here from Selling Bakersfield. Good morning, Marco.
- 1:19:31Speaker 5: Good morning, Romeo.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: All right, so a lot going on in the housing
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: market right now with... Actually, this is something that happened
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: years and years ago with foreclosures and people not being
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: able to afford their homes. Looks like maybe some of
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: that is going on again coming off of COVID. People were...
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: They took it easy on the house payments, it sounds like,
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: during COVID times. And now the bill is due. The
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: bill is due.
- 1:20:02Speaker 5: Time to pay up.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: So some of the people's, looks like foreclosures are going up.
- 1:20:07Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that had something to do with it, man.
- 1:20:10Speaker 10: You know, anytime that you tell people not to pay
- 1:20:13Speaker 10: their mortgage payments, they don't have to pay their mortgage payments,
- 1:20:16Speaker 10: they're not, right? But then when it comes time to
- 1:20:19Speaker 10: actually start paying.
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: Again, It's a little hard for some people.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: I think the same thing kind of happened with school loans.
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: I think they put a moratorium on paying back school loans,
- 1:20:30Speaker 1: and I think they started doing that again.
- 1:20:31Speaker 5: And then Trump said, nope. He's like, nope, time to
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: pay up.
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: I know that's hurting some people. But the housing, there
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: are options for you. Marco has a few if you
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: want to give him a call.
- 1:20:45Speaker 7: Some, some, some, some.
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: 661-444-0178.
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: You can also go to flipyourhouses.com or sellingbakersville.com to find
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: out any of the information that you need. If you
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: want to just talk to him, if you want to
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: talk to a live person, you can call him. He
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: does answer his phone half the time. Most of the time.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: Most of the time. But you can find the information
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: you need. If you want to buy a house, I mean,
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: some of you out there looking for a house and
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: You just don't know where to begin. That's an option.
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: Some of you want to sell your houses. You want
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: to find out if it's worth it. Find out what
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: the comps are in your neighborhood, what your house might
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: sell for.
- 1:21:24Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: We'll do it all.
- 1:21:26Speaker 7: You need to remodel your house. You can do that
- 1:21:29Speaker 7: as well.
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: I really like the idea of you having a contractor
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: that can come in and help with people who don't
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: have the cash on hand but have the equity in
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: their house to– To get some value out of it,
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: to get some more value out of it.
- 1:21:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:21:45Speaker 10: I like the way you put that. You know, they
- 1:21:47Speaker 10: don't have the cash on hand, but the cash is
- 1:21:48Speaker 10: in their house.
- 1:21:49Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:21:49Speaker 5: It's called equity.
- 1:21:50Speaker 10: So we can help them use that cash to put
- 1:21:53Speaker 10: it back into their house.
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: And one of the interesting things you should say about
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: that is without taking out a loan against your house.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: You're not taking out an equity loan to remodel your
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: house to sell it.
- 1:22:06Speaker 5: That's right.
- 1:22:07Speaker 7: They're coming in. You don't need to have cash out
- 1:22:09Speaker 7: of pocket.
- 1:22:10Speaker 5: Correct.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: And if that sounds interesting to you, call Marco.
- 1:22:15Speaker 5: 661-444-0178. And you can find out that information.
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: That never occurred to me until right now about the,
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: when you said equity, about the people saying, well, we'll
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: just take equity out, you know, take a loan out
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: against our house. And now you have two loans instead
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: of one.
- 1:22:29Speaker 5: And it costs money to get a loan too.
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:22:31Speaker 5: Fees and whatnot.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: All right, Marco. Man, this was fun. You got to go.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: You got to go. Maybe you show up a couple
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: of weeks and we'll find out what's going on. I
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: know that you're reading an article right now, which I
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: think is very important. These foreclosures have gone up and
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: we don't want you to lose your home. I mean,
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: at least we don't want you to lose everything because
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: at least maybe you might be able to get something
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: out of it.
- 1:22:56Speaker 10: Yeah, ABC News article says that since the pandemic, from
- 1:23:00Speaker 10: 2020 to 2025, foreclosure filings increased by 71%.
- 1:23:03Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:23:06Speaker 7: That's country. That's across the nation, right?
- 1:23:07Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, across the nation. But that's a lot.
- 1:23:10Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't know what's going on in California, but okay.
- 1:23:12Speaker 5: And guess what? The main states, one of them is California.
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: California is expensive. I think there's a lot of it.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: validity to that, especially with taxes going up and food
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: and everything, gas and things like that.
- 1:23:25Speaker 7: So it's making it.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: Tough for people, but we try to do the best
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: you can. Last thing, though, is if I have to
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: get out of my house, where am I going to live?
- 1:23:33Speaker 5: Yeah. Go back to mom. Go back to mom and dad.
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: SellingBakersville.com. FlipYourHouses.com. And your phone number, Marco, before you get
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: out of here?
- 1:23:46Speaker 10: 661-444-0178.
- 1:23:46Speaker 5: Thanks for having me, William.
- 1:23:48Speaker 10: Hey, Rome.
- 1:23:49Speaker 4: Hey, Rome.
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: Just hearing the new Raiders song for the time. Must
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: be the first time. Just hearing the new Raiders song
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: for the first time. It's hilarious. Yeah. The new Raiders song. Yeah. Yeah. R-E-4-2-5-4-7-7.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: Thank you. I appreciate that. I think the song's pretty
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: hilarious myself, too, as a matter of fact. Yeah. Well,
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: football season does start tonight, though. You got your first
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: game of the season. I think it's on NBC, I believe.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: Probably NBC and Peacock, right? Because they're calling it Sunday
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: Night Football. But it's the Patriots and the Seahawks going
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: at it.
- 1:24:31Speaker 7: First game of the season, right?
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: Already 4-2-5-4, 7-7. Yo, Rome, I dig it. The new
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: Raiders song.
- 1:24:39Speaker 8: What's going on? Romeo, my neighbor's dogs won't stop howling.
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: Well, they know good music, then.
- 1:24:45Speaker 8: That's horrible, Romeo.
- 1:24:46Speaker 10: Good for them.
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: I'm glad to see that the dogs are enjoying the show.
- 1:24:51Speaker 8: I don't think so. They're just, oh, and they only
- 1:24:54Speaker 8: do that when their ears are hurting.
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: Oh, well, I'm pretty sure they're doing fine.
- 1:25:00Speaker 9: Well, I just say thumbs down.
- 1:25:02Speaker 8: Raider Dave gives it a thumbs down.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: Raider Dave, I am the guy with the show for
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: 30 years that everybody listens to, so I think I
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: know what I'm doing.
- 1:25:11Speaker 8: I understand that.
- 1:25:12Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: All right. Just for you and your neighbor's dogs, Raider Dave. Hey, Romeo. Hey,
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: it's Gilrod. Hey, Rome. Remember my cut that I punked
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: with a picture of you on my couch passed out? Oh, yeah,
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: that was back for a comedy show, right? Just text
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: her and ask her if she heard the new song. She's, yeah,
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: it's stupid. I said, you're stupid. Punk-ass Raider fan.
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: Ha, ha, ha, ha.
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: Hey, Rome, can you do the Niners one? The Niners song. Oh,
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: the band bandwagon?
- 1:25:52Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: Good morning, Don. What's going on?
- 1:25:54Speaker 4: Hey, what's up, Rome? Hey, Ruben.
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: What up, man?
- 1:25:56Speaker 9: Sorry I put out the hit, finally.
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: Finally. Finally. Finally. Finally. Since football started.
- 1:26:02Speaker 9: When I hear that song, I'm like, Rome made a
- 1:26:05Speaker 9: song to that, and they're like... Tell him to keep
- 1:26:07Speaker 9: it to himself. I'm like, just change the station. Just
- 1:26:10Speaker 9: like the dumbass that just called you, you know what
- 1:26:12Speaker 9: I mean? Change the station.
- 1:26:14Speaker 6: It's so bad, Rome, that they have to listen to you.
- 1:26:16Speaker 9: Normally, they're like, oh, I don't like him, but they
- 1:26:18Speaker 9: got to listen still.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: Dude, I'm like a toxic ex. You can't stay away
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: from me.
- 1:26:25Speaker 8: A toxico Romeo. Romeo, tell brown-nosed Ruben to be quiet.
- 1:26:33Speaker 8: If I may, can I respond?
- 1:26:35Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: It's football season and I'm ready to go.
- 1:26:39Speaker 3: I hate the Niners, Chiefs, and Cowboys for sure.
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: It's football season and I'm ready to go. It's Raider
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: Nation and you already know.
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: Wow. Hey, Romeo, this is hilarious. The Raider fans are
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: slowly getting angry. This is a good day. Keep it up, Rome.
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: Little Raider fans are stupid.
- 1:27:08Speaker 9: Hey, Rome.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: Hey, Romeo. Let's go to Seahawk Lou's barbecue tonight. I'll
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: scoop you up, Rome. You can take road beers with me. Yeah,
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: I don't think I'll go to Seahawk Lou's for his
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: barbecue tonight. Yeah, I don't. I just. Yeah, I don't.
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: You know, I used to love going to Wasco when
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: it had the golf course and it was a beautiful town.
- 1:27:32Speaker 4: Now.
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: If Seahawk Lose the King of Wasco, yeah, it's not
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: the place to go. Come on, Rome, let's go to
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: Seahawk Lose. I am not going to Seahawk Lose. Have
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: some burnt barbecue and then sit in his converted carport garage.
- 1:27:46Speaker 7: Who knows what that's all about?
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: Yo, Rome, Headbutt Radio here. That song is definitely better
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: than coconut water. Come on, what's going on?
- 1:28:00Speaker 8: What's up, Rome?
- 1:28:02Speaker 9: Hey, bro, out of all the songs he's ever sang,
- 1:28:05Speaker 9: I think that's his best one. I really think I
- 1:28:08Speaker 9: got to give Raider Dave some little bit of credit, Rome.
- 1:28:10Speaker 9: I think out of all his songs, everything he's ever
- 1:28:12Speaker 9: put down, I think that's kind of the one with
- 1:28:14Speaker 9: that little something going for him. He might get his
- 1:28:17Speaker 9: broadcast going now, you know what I mean?
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: All right, I'll let him know.
- 1:28:23Speaker 9: You know that one-hit wonder right there? There you go, bro.
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: All right, get out of here. Ray, what big boy said? Yo, Rome,
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: I love it. Here, let's see what coconut water sounds like. Oh,
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: Raider Rob. What's Raider Rob got going on?
- 1:28:39Speaker 4: Says.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: hey, go Rome, Raider Rob, and Raider Dave on a
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: slick one. What are you talking about? I mean, these guys.
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: Already 4-2-5-4, 7-7, and he wins. All right, football starts today.
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: Opening of the NFL season today. You got the Seattle Seahawks.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: You got the New England Patriots going at it. Sunday
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: night football is what they're calling it, so it's on NBC.
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: What else do I need to say? You guys ready
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: for some football? I think I am. I think I'm
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: ready for the game tonight. All right, 8-4-2-5-4, 7-7-Rome. You
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: going to throw something on the grill for the game
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: opening day? Probably not.
- 1:29:27Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: Know. It's not my... The Chiefs don't play until Monday,
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: so I'll be at Just Wing and celebrating then, but not...
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. Good morning, Hal. What's
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: going on?
- 1:29:40Speaker 8: Hello, this is Romeo for the 94.1 radio station.
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: It is, yes.
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: Yo, what the f.
- 1:29:47Speaker 8: * * * is that Raiders song you're singing, bro?
- 1:29:48Speaker 8: It's f * * * ing about the Raiders. That's
- 1:29:50Speaker 8: f * * * ing bad, man.
- 1:29:51Speaker 9: Why?
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: The Raiders suck.
- 1:29:52Speaker 6: Man, f * * *, bro.
- 1:29:53Speaker 8: Romeo in the morning.
- 1:29:55Speaker 4: Every morning.
- 1:29:56Speaker 6: 94.1.
