- 0:05Speaker 1: Good morning. Well, it's so good every weekday morning at
- 0:09Speaker 1: this time to stop, to listen to God, to take
- 0:12Speaker 1: some time with God, read His word, the Bible, and
- 0:17Speaker 1: let Him shape our lives. After all, if He is
- 0:20Speaker 1: the God of this universe who created the universe, who
- 0:25Speaker 1: designed humanity, and decided that you would be born into
- 0:30Speaker 1: this world.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Isn't it reasonable to assume that he has a perspective
- 0:35Speaker 1: on life that we need.
- 0:38Speaker 1: And that we should be building our lives around our
- 0:41Speaker 1: relationship with Him, especially given the fact that this life
- 0:45Speaker 1: is not the end, that when this life ends, we
- 0:49Speaker 1: go on. You live in your body, but you are
- 0:52Speaker 1: not your body, right? You have a spiritual existence that's
- 0:56Speaker 1: going to go on, and you're going to go on
- 0:59Speaker 1: in a relationship with God.
- 1:01Speaker 1: It's so important in this life to begin a healthy
- 1:05Speaker 1: relationship with God. And if you're experiencing the brokenness of
- 1:09Speaker 1: life and you say my life is such a mess,
- 1:12Speaker 1: I feel the brokenness of my life. Well, what you
- 1:16Speaker 1: need in life at its core, yes, you may need money,
- 1:21Speaker 1: you may need forgiveness from somebody, you, you need a
- 1:24Speaker 1: lot of things in life.
- 1:26Speaker 1: But the most foundational need you have in life is
- 1:30Speaker 1: for a relationship with God.
- 1:33Speaker 1: And you can begin that just by coming to God
- 1:35Speaker 1: in your brokenness and saying,
- 1:38Speaker 1: God, I need you. I know I've offended you in
- 1:41Speaker 1: many ways. I know I've, I've sinned in many ways,
- 1:44Speaker 1: but what I want is your forgiveness.
- 1:47Speaker 1: And to start a new relationship with you, do you
- 1:50Speaker 1: know that that's why Jesus came into our world and died,
- 1:54Speaker 1: to make a way for you to be forgiven and
- 1:56Speaker 1: to start a relationship with God. He took God's judgement.
- 2:01Speaker 1: All God's anger towards the way you've offended Him in life.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Jesus took all of that, faced God's judgement and anger
- 2:09Speaker 1: at the cross, so that what you can experience from
- 2:12Speaker 1: God is forgiveness, love, adoption into His family, a whole
- 2:18Speaker 1: new way of life.
- 2:20Speaker 1: That's what you need in life, and I encourage you
- 2:22Speaker 1: to focus your time on God. Put Him first in
- 2:25Speaker 1: your day. Start your day by reading His word and
- 2:29Speaker 1: talking to Him.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Well, we've been talking all this week about giving our
- 2:33Speaker 1: time to God.
- 2:35Speaker 1: And I want to start with where a passage yesterday
- 2:38Speaker 1: out of the Bible ended and read the next few verses.
- 2:42Speaker 1: 2 Corinthians chapter 5 in the Bible, starting in verse 1.
- 2:48Speaker 1: It says, for we know that if the tent that
- 2:51Speaker 1: is our earthly home, and that's a word picture for
- 2:54Speaker 1: your physical body, and really here the apostle Paul is
- 2:59Speaker 1: talking to people who are either old or sick and
- 3:04Speaker 1: facing death.
- 3:06Speaker 1: And I want to talk to you specifically today.
- 3:09Speaker 1: This passage says if the tent that is our earthly home,
- 3:13Speaker 1: if our body is destroyed, we will have a building
- 3:18Speaker 1: from God.
- 3:20Speaker 1: A building, a body to live in, a house not
- 3:25Speaker 1: made with hands, but that is eternal in the heavens.
- 3:30Speaker 1: For in this tent, this body we groan, and if
- 3:34Speaker 1: you're old or your body is giving out, you know
- 3:38Speaker 1: that's true, right? In this tent we groan, longing to
- 3:43Speaker 1: put on our heavenly dwelling.
- 3:45Speaker 1: If indeed by putting it on we may not be
- 3:49Speaker 1: found naked, our spirits, that is not found naked, for
- 3:53Speaker 1: while we are still in this tent, this body, we groan,
- 3:57Speaker 1: being burdened, not that we would be unclothed, but that
- 4:01Speaker 1: we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal
- 4:06Speaker 1: may be swallowed up by life.
- 4:10Speaker 1: And he who has prepared us for this very thing
- 4:15Speaker 1: is God, who has given us the Spirit as a
- 4:19Speaker 1: guarantee that that's what's going to happen.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Well, as you think about these days in your life,
- 4:26Speaker 1: and you're so aware of how short life is and
- 4:29Speaker 1: that your life may not have too much time left
- 4:32Speaker 1: in it.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Just be aware what's coming if you have turned your
- 4:37Speaker 1: life over to Jesus is what is said in these verses.
- 4:41Speaker 1: What is mortal will be swallowed up by life.
- 4:47Speaker 1: That's why it's important to give your time to God.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Because this life is not the end, it's what happens
- 4:53Speaker 1: after your time on this earth is done that is
- 4:57Speaker 1: the most important thing. And so you want to put
- 5:00Speaker 1: God first in this life, so that your experience with
- 5:04Speaker 1: God for all of eternity will be one that is
- 5:08Speaker 1: full of joy, meaning, and purpose. I'm John North.
