I-81 & Surrounding Roads Under Construction | Richmond News
Major roadwork is underway across multiple counties, with I-81 seeing bridge rehab and lane extensions in Smyth and Wythe counties, plus auxiliary lane additions and interchange upgrades near Wytheville. Nighttime closures are expected, and superloads will impact northbound I-81 and I-77 on August 24.
