Latest / Inside the Birds: A Philadelphia Eagles Podcast / ITB: When Will Eagles ILB Nakobe Dean Return and What's His Role?
Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside, the Bird is back. What's going on everybody? It's
- 0:16Speaker 1: Jeff Moser, Adam Kaplan. We're in the middle of the week,
- 0:20Speaker 1: we're getting closer to this Eagles game against the Broncos,
- 0:22Speaker 1: which promises to be well, it should be a very
- 0:25Speaker 1: fun game. And we're still sort of reconciling the Eagles
- 0:28Speaker 1: and their win over the Bucks and some of the fallout.
- 0:31Speaker 1: And I will say this, Adam, four weeks through the season,
- 0:34Speaker 1: I would say the Eagles they've been bit in little
- 0:38Speaker 1: bunches by the injury bug, you know, like Goddar and
- 0:41Speaker 1: Lane Johnson and Nolan Smith. Of course, on ir they
- 0:45Speaker 1: are fortunate in my part, the way things have gone
- 0:49Speaker 1: around the NFL. I mean, you've seen some really star
- 0:52Speaker 1: players already out for the year, whether it's Tyreek Hill
- 0:55Speaker 1: right or Ceedee Lam's gonna be out for a while.
- 0:56Speaker 1: And there are players all around the league who are out.
- 0:59Speaker 1: And I would say the Eagle situation isn't dire compared
- 1:01Speaker 1: to some other but every week it just seems like
- 1:05Speaker 1: they got some key players who have some uncertainty about them.
- 1:09Speaker 2: You know, the Niners absolutely devastated by injury. Just it's terrible.
- 1:12Speaker 2: It's mostly yes, a cl but the second one in
- 1:16Speaker 2: his career, by the way. But Purdy's problems and this
- 1:20Speaker 2: is why when you look at builds, the Hurts is
- 1:24Speaker 2: solid build. I know he's had some knee issues shoulder,
- 1:27Speaker 2: but I want a guy who solidly built like Purty,
- 1:31Speaker 2: a small frame guy, and he's put some weight on
- 1:34Speaker 2: you worry about it. He had a tow injury which
- 1:36Speaker 2: is going to keep him out again, uh this week.
- 1:39Speaker 2: So they got the Ayuk situation. He won't be back
- 1:41Speaker 2: to well past mid season.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Right, Kittles out? What's that in Kittle? Kittle is also.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Kis George Brittles his nickname. It's not nice, but I
- 1:51Speaker 2: know some people have called him that great He might
- 1:53Speaker 2: be a Hall of Famer someday, but great player hurt
- 1:55Speaker 2: a lot. Yep. Uh. One of the reasons why they
- 1:58Speaker 2: trade Deo Samuel was his injury history. And they have
- 2:01Speaker 2: a number of players out this a lot of four
- 2:03Speaker 2: guys who are starters this week. We're not on injury
- 2:06Speaker 2: reserve for the Niners are out. So yeah, they have problems,
- 2:09Speaker 2: and honestly, now we'll get to the Kobe Dean situation,
- 2:11Speaker 2: which is really good news.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Yep.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I mean Yeah, if you look at the Eagles ir
- 2:15Speaker 2: list now Van Sumaran it's too bad. We never really
- 2:19Speaker 2: got to see what he was going to do. But
- 2:21Speaker 2: it's not a major loss, as Johnny Wilson. Part of
- 2:23Speaker 2: the run game that but now that one sneaky underrated
- 2:28Speaker 2: a lot. Yeah, I agree for the run game. Nolan
- 2:32Speaker 2: Smith now is an I are that's not good? A
- 2:35Speaker 2: Conchrow is done for the season. Well, we'll get into
- 2:37Speaker 2: that and what that's going to look like for their
- 2:39Speaker 2: edge group. But yeah, no, you're right. They haven't had
- 2:41Speaker 2: a devastating oh my god, this guy's out for the season.
- 2:43Speaker 2: How they're going to get by? No, they haven't had that.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean the Commander has had to play last
- 2:48Speaker 1: week against a Falcons team that I'm quite positive they're
- 2:50Speaker 1: better then. But backup quarterback, no, Terry McLaurin, Austin Eckler
- 2:55Speaker 1: out for the year. We already talked about in our
- 2:57Speaker 1: preseason kind of evaluation the NFC East about how the
- 3:01Speaker 1: Commanders could be good except that they're they're they're just
- 3:05Speaker 1: lacking in real playmakers. You know, mclaurin's a very good receiver,
- 3:09Speaker 1: but he's not like a Justin Jefferson and Deebo is
- 3:11Speaker 1: a nice addition, but it's not like having a j
- 3:13Speaker 1: Brown DeVante Smith.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Uh.
- 3:15Speaker 1: And then we talked about Eckler being important because of
- 3:18Speaker 1: his versatility, and as soon as they lost him, that
- 3:20Speaker 1: was a big part of their offense. So they've kind
- 3:22Speaker 1: of had to survive with and then lost Jay and
- 3:25Speaker 1: Daniels for for a little bit there. So yeah, the Eagles,
- 3:28Speaker 1: the good for them to get Nikobe back. Will talk
- 3:31Speaker 1: about that. I mean, he's in the practice window. We'll
- 3:34Speaker 1: discuss what that means, and then we'll go inside what
- 3:36Speaker 1: some of these injuries mean and give the early word
- 3:38Speaker 1: here on the Broncos injuries as well. I just want
- 3:42Speaker 1: to take this second, and I'm probably gonna do this
- 3:44Speaker 1: quite a bit, Adam and I will to remind people,
- 3:47Speaker 1: well a I want we want to apologize. We had
- 3:49Speaker 1: a sound issue with inside the Tape with Greg Cosel,
- 3:53Speaker 1: and so a lot of people left messages, but it
- 3:56Speaker 1: was a one time thing. We fixed that it should
- 3:58Speaker 1: be fine. And then the second thing is it's football season, people,
- 4:02Speaker 1: so that is prime time for us and primetime for
- 4:05Speaker 1: our advertisers. So yes, there are a lot of ads
- 4:09Speaker 1: in our pods and we are both podcast listeners and
- 4:12Speaker 1: we have to deal with that when we listen to
- 4:14Speaker 1: our favorite podcasts as well, which is why we have
- 4:18Speaker 1: our Patreon channel Patreon dot com slash inside the Birds
- 4:21Speaker 1: where you get every podcast uploaded the night before or
- 4:26Speaker 1: even sometimes earlier than that, with zero reads, zero commercial ads.
- 4:31Speaker 1: It is just me Adam or whoever our guest is
- 4:36Speaker 1: in a podcast, or Andrew de Checko for Checko Daily,
- 4:38Speaker 1: no ads, no reads. And then on top of that,
- 4:42Speaker 1: with our tier system, you get about twenty to twenty
- 4:45Speaker 1: five percent more bonus content that you wouldn't get on
- 4:48Speaker 1: our normal podcast or YouTube platform. That includes ask gregc
- 4:52Speaker 1: cell livestream every week, ask an Eagle former Egal coach
- 4:56Speaker 1: player personnel Guy once a month live stream every week
- 4:59Speaker 1: that we do ask idb livestream. Adam does a great
- 5:02Speaker 1: job with that and people love talking to him and getting.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Next to the only place. Yeah, just so you know,
- 5:05Speaker 2: it's the only place I will answer Eagles questions and yep,
- 5:08Speaker 2: you know that. That's that's safe for you guys, super
- 5:11Speaker 2: high level talk very if you know, you know what
- 5:15Speaker 2: I'm talking that the tier threes know, they know, Yeah,
- 5:18Speaker 2: I need it's not, and I appreciate. We had a
- 5:21Speaker 2: bunch of people sign up lately. We love it. We
- 5:23Speaker 2: appreciate it. And just so people know, we throw on
- 5:26Speaker 2: bonus stuff which we don't advertise, like, you know what,
- 5:29Speaker 2: I decide. I've decided like once a month. I'm probably one.
- 5:31Speaker 2: It depends on the game. It's it's a game I
- 5:33Speaker 2: really like for the Eagles. I'm doing a halftime live
- 5:36Speaker 2: stream for Tier threes. I'm just doing it. It's not
- 5:38Speaker 2: we never advertise it. We're doing it, you know, we
- 5:40Speaker 2: we we get by the way, we didn't know what's
- 5:42Speaker 2: going to happen. Greg offered Tier threes as another special
- 5:46Speaker 2: bonus his notes. We actually post it before I before
- 5:50Speaker 2: I even read it. I posted. We post them in
- 5:53Speaker 2: consecutive days, Monday morning and Tuesday morning.
- 5:55Speaker 1: It's incredible threes.
- 5:56Speaker 2: What's that?
- 5:57Speaker 1: It's incredible. I mean, you get all of Greg Sell's
- 6:00Speaker 1: tape notes for being a member. It's amazing. Yeah.
- 6:03Speaker 2: So, folks, Tier threes, you ever met Greg, please shake
- 6:05Speaker 2: his hand, thank them. Yeah yeah, but yeah, we didn't
- 6:08Speaker 2: know this is gonna happen. We just we're not charging
- 6:09Speaker 2: any extra. You get it a Tier three and a
- 6:11Speaker 2: couple of people did tell us that they sign up
- 6:13Speaker 2: partially because of that. I guess they heard us saying it.
- 6:16Speaker 2: So we appreciate it, appreciate all the support, and we
- 6:19Speaker 2: get super real on these these live streams. I'm gonna
- 6:21Speaker 2: leave it with that.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I like that we get so we keep it a
- 6:24Speaker 1: buck right on these live streams, we give a lot
- 6:26Speaker 1: of information, all right, So that I just wanted to
- 6:30Speaker 1: put out there again Patreon dot com slash Inside the Birds.
- 6:34Speaker 1: We had an awesome Asking Eagle with monthly out with
- 6:37Speaker 1: Todd Harriman's who had some really awesome stories. Now I know,
- 6:40Speaker 1: if you're just a mainstream listener, you get a snippet
- 6:43Speaker 1: of that. We put about a ten minute version of
- 6:45Speaker 1: that and ask Greg Cosel, so you guys get to
- 6:47Speaker 1: hear that. But it's just so much more expansive on Patreon.
- 6:50Speaker 1: You get all the questions, you get to personally ask
- 6:53Speaker 1: these guys the questions yourself, and you get the full stories.
- 6:58Speaker 1: We don't put the good juicy story reason things like that,
- 7:01Speaker 1: like Todd had a really interesting to story that that's
- 7:03Speaker 1: only for the Patreot member.
- 7:05Speaker 2: That story. See, I've known Todd. I've known Todd since
- 7:08Speaker 2: he was drafted. You and I have known him for
- 7:10Speaker 2: a number of years, and there's some stuff and I'm like,
- 7:14Speaker 2: what it wasn't just a teal. It was so many
- 7:18Speaker 2: things I didn't know about him or I couldn't remember
- 7:21Speaker 2: like he had told us. I knew he had told
- 7:24Speaker 2: me this when I over the years that when he
- 7:26Speaker 2: was a player. I don't know what I I ran
- 7:28Speaker 2: into him the locker room and you look bigger? Well
- 7:32Speaker 2: I didn't three forty nine.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Yeah, he was big.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Holy bleep, And I don't know Walker Stele wanted him
- 7:41Speaker 2: to put weight on you out of your mind. I mean, geez,
- 7:45Speaker 2: that's that was a shocker when he said I'd never
- 7:48Speaker 2: heard that before, and I was like, I can't. I
- 7:50Speaker 2: know he's six six, but he wasn't that like he framed.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Didn't seem like he was that big to me. So anyway,
- 7:58Speaker 2: that's what that's what Want says. It was a great interview,
- 8:00Speaker 2: one of my top three favorite of any former Eagle.
- 8:03Speaker 2: It was pretty dawn great and uh he loved it.
- 8:06Speaker 2: He told he loved it. And and so he's doing
- 8:09Speaker 2: the show with Trey right that. What is it called?
- 8:11Speaker 1: You know, it's ah, it's something with the Vineyards. I
- 8:14Speaker 1: asked him to tell me Trey when he was on
- 8:16Speaker 1: the b CB show with us, and uh, he didn't
- 8:20Speaker 1: tell me the full name. So now I have to
- 8:22Speaker 1: there on ig Between then. I think it's called Between
- 8:25Speaker 1: the vine with Trey and Todd.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, so it's real simple. They're on I G
- 8:29Speaker 2: that's where I saw it first. You just hit it,
- 8:31Speaker 2: so it's great.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and they talked. They talked football and drink wine. Well,
- 8:34Speaker 1: I mean it's it's great. It's awesome.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I wish I liked wine, but I don't.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Sorry, good wine is good.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I don't know what's going with me. I don't care
- 8:41Speaker 2: because I just don't understand the fascination. I think every
- 8:44Speaker 2: coach that I know drinks wine. It's kind of awkward,
- 8:48Speaker 2: like when you go out with these people and okay,
- 8:50Speaker 2: I'll drink of beers that okay.
- 8:51Speaker 1: So you don't do the manche it's on a holiday.
- 8:54Speaker 2: No, that's called Jewish grape Jews for those of you
- 8:57Speaker 2: are not Jewish.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Yes, exactly. So let's talk about the Eagles here. So
- 9:03Speaker 1: Nikobe Dean gets activated into the twenty one day window,
- 9:06Speaker 1: which means Adam the Eagles have twenty one days to
- 9:10Speaker 1: make a decision on him. I always feel like we
- 9:13Speaker 1: have to remind people of what the window is and
- 9:15Speaker 1: then what happens at the end of the window. So
- 9:18Speaker 1: why don't you take it from there? You always explain
- 9:20Speaker 1: things with better details.
- 9:21Speaker 2: So he's on reserve physically and able to perform. He
- 9:24Speaker 2: has a destination for return. So I called DFR. So
- 9:28Speaker 2: on Wednesday they activate him into that window. They have
- 9:31Speaker 2: twenty one days to make a decision. Everything we've heard
- 9:34Speaker 2: would suggests at some point within a twenty one days
- 9:36Speaker 2: he's going to come back. Let's assume he does. But
- 9:37Speaker 2: if he doesn't, let's say he had a setback. Right,
- 9:41Speaker 2: he's done for the season. Once he gets past twenty
- 9:43Speaker 2: one days, he can't play. If they don't activate him,
- 9:45Speaker 2: he remains on pup the rest of the season. He can't.
- 9:48Speaker 2: He can't come back, even through the playoffs. So I
- 9:51Speaker 2: just hope there's no setback. Is If not, he's going
- 9:53Speaker 2: to play. Now, let's move this along here. As we
- 9:57Speaker 2: told you in August, there's zero champs. He's a starter.
- 10:00Speaker 2: If Campbell's playing and playing, I mean playing, well, that's
- 10:03Speaker 2: just the way it works, folks. It's nothing personal against
- 10:05Speaker 2: na Kobe, who was phenomenal for the Patel attention injury,
- 10:12Speaker 2: and Vic doesn't for compliments around. He throws him around
- 10:15Speaker 2: like manhole covers. He said he was great because he
- 10:17Speaker 2: was great, Okay, great. The Kobe is like super elite smart. Uh.
- 10:23Speaker 2: He had to get out of his own way. If
- 10:25Speaker 2: you remember, it was that we were there at the
- 10:28Speaker 2: practice last year at the Link when it was probably
- 10:31Speaker 2: that was his biggest low as an ego. I think
- 10:33Speaker 2: he just struggled, but something snapped into his head and
- 10:36Speaker 2: he got progressively better and he became a stud. I
- 10:42Speaker 2: don't know if he would have been a Pro Bowl.
- 10:43Speaker 2: He should have been had he not gotten hurt. But
- 10:45Speaker 2: you never see the problem is you don't know for
- 10:48Speaker 2: the for the fans who don't follow them, and or
- 10:51Speaker 2: an all Pro, the media, the AP voters, I don't
- 10:55Speaker 2: know how much they know about certain players, but Eagle
- 10:57Speaker 2: fans know this God was an absolute stud and great dude.
- 11:02Speaker 2: He got over the size issue. The size issue has
- 11:05Speaker 2: nothing to do with his knee. You could suffered to
- 11:07Speaker 2: tell a tenant, anyone can, but it's a terrible injury.
- 11:11Speaker 2: We have the guys who do the sports Bros Med
- 11:14Speaker 2: podcast on to talk about that. When did we have
- 11:17Speaker 2: them on?
- 11:18Speaker 1: Right after he Aaron was nice enough to join us.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Aaron Borgman, right, former Eagles athletic trainer and chiefs athletic trainer,
- 11:27Speaker 1: joined us and he talked about that advancements have made
- 11:30Speaker 1: it not as catastrophic as he used to but it's
- 11:33Speaker 1: still considered the toughest one to come back from.
- 11:36Speaker 2: So so basically my senses just knowing where Campbell's at,
- 11:43Speaker 2: who's who's well ahead. I admitted I didn't think he'd
- 11:46Speaker 2: be this good. I just you know, he's relatively new
- 11:48Speaker 2: to inside backer. As Vic calls them inside backers. Edges
- 11:53Speaker 2: are edges. Backers are backers. There is no he doesn't
- 11:56Speaker 2: call Alb's in a thirty four front play a five
- 12:00Speaker 2: in front, but he doesn't call them linebackers. Calls them edges, right, So, uh,
- 12:06Speaker 2: he could be a rundown guy like That's they have
- 12:10Speaker 2: to see. What they have to get through here is Yes,
- 12:12Speaker 2: they have the medical reports from their training staff. They
- 12:15Speaker 2: know that he's looked good. They've known for a series
- 12:17Speaker 2: of weeks he's gonna be ready by week five to
- 12:19Speaker 2: start working his way back. But until you get him
- 12:22Speaker 2: into practice. You don't know what he can or can do.
- 12:25Speaker 2: You judge what he'll do when he's ready to play
- 12:28Speaker 2: based on the way he looks. But Campbell is a starter. Now,
- 12:31Speaker 2: this is one of my favorite things. People can some
- 12:33Speaker 2: fans I call him the kingson conflation. What does that mean? Oh,
- 12:38Speaker 2: if Dean's back, you can find a role for him,
- 12:40Speaker 2: and then Kimball could be an edge rusher. Folks, if
- 12:45Speaker 2: Zadarius Smith is starting what he should be. He played well,
- 12:48Speaker 2: Vic said, he plays well. You can't play twelve players
- 12:50Speaker 2: at the time, You can only play.
- 12:51Speaker 1: You realize that, right, you have to take somebody off
- 12:54Speaker 1: the field if you're putting somebody new on the field
- 12:57Speaker 1: and you're moving somebody into a position. So I do
- 13:01Speaker 1: think that maybe I think this is a long shot,
- 13:06Speaker 1: but maybe given Jylex Hunt, you know, if he's not
- 13:11Speaker 1: producing as a pass rusher and he's been okay, he's
- 13:13Speaker 1: he's fine right now, You're you're not changing anything, right,
- 13:16Speaker 1: But if you want to move bond number one, if
- 13:19Speaker 1: you want to move Campbell a little bit more to
- 13:22Speaker 1: edge and then and do put Nicobe in if you
- 13:24Speaker 1: feel like he's in shape and he's great, then maybe
- 13:27Speaker 1: I can see that a little bit, but not in
- 13:29Speaker 1: the way that people have asked, like, do you just
- 13:32Speaker 1: start na Kobe and move Campbell to edge? No, you
- 13:36Speaker 1: do not do that.
- 13:37Speaker 2: With an asterisk. No, I'm gonna take your point of
- 13:39Speaker 2: step further. I had something from another team who does
- 13:42Speaker 2: pro work tell me Philly should have Hunt as their
- 13:45Speaker 2: third guy. He didn't. He said, he's not there as
- 13:47Speaker 2: a pass rusher. This is fun coach of tape, this
- 13:49Speaker 2: is all they watch. They don't they don't get access
- 13:51Speaker 2: to egles practice tape, so they have no idea how
- 13:53Speaker 2: he practices, or they didn't see him in training camp
- 13:55Speaker 2: because they don't get access to that. So the guy
- 13:57Speaker 2: told me, he goes if they could just have a
- 13:59Speaker 2: third that you could bring them along slowly, more slowly,
- 14:03Speaker 2: and that could be on. Okay, now you can move
- 14:06Speaker 2: Campbell to edge. Now I won't roll that out quite Frankly,
- 14:10Speaker 2: Hant is not there yet, isn't it tright?
- 14:12Speaker 1: I also agree with that, But I think you also,
- 14:15Speaker 1: this would be a couple of weeks down the road, right,
- 14:17Speaker 1: and you're probably not far from Nolan Smith at that
- 14:19Speaker 1: point coming back and getting back into the action. So
- 14:24Speaker 1: I think we're both in agreement that there's only a
- 14:26Speaker 1: small percentage where you really see Nikobe getting his normal
- 14:30Speaker 1: full time off ball linebacker job back. It would have
- 14:34Speaker 1: to be a string a string events that entail something
- 14:38Speaker 1: going on at a different position. It has to happen.
- 14:41Speaker 2: And fanciers shot it down again, which is a fair
- 14:43Speaker 2: question by the media about him playing more edge now
- 14:46Speaker 2: and Greg's notes, I got to look at the number
- 14:49Speaker 2: because he charts at his guys at NFL Film's chart this.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I'll give it to you in a minute.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Well you look for that. I'm just gonna make an
- 14:54Speaker 1: additional point. You don't want to strength. You don't want
- 14:57Speaker 1: to weaken a position just to neutralize another position. And
- 15:01Speaker 1: what I mean is right now, the way Campbell is progressing,
- 15:04Speaker 1: I mean he made the biggest play one of You
- 15:07Speaker 1: could argue that his interception on Mayfield was the biggest
- 15:09Speaker 1: swing play in that game. Right to go took a
- 15:12Speaker 1: touchdown away. Okay, he's playing at a really high level
- 15:15Speaker 1: for a rookie and just in general player. So you
- 15:18Speaker 1: have two linebackers and Bond and Campbell who are playing
- 15:21Speaker 1: extraordinarily high level. So are what what are you gaining?
- 15:26Speaker 1: By moving Campbell somewhere else now to potentially but not,
- 15:33Speaker 1: you don't know, try to strengthen another area and neutralizing
- 15:36Speaker 1: what you have at linebacker. I don't think that that's
- 15:39Speaker 1: to me, It doesn't add up. You want to keep
- 15:41Speaker 1: this greatness that you have at this because you play
- 15:43Speaker 1: someone zone and this is a big and sim pressures
- 15:46Speaker 1: and blitzing linebackers are a part of what you do.
- 15:48Speaker 1: You just keep this tandem. They're playing out of their mind.
- 15:52Speaker 1: It's like you said, it sucks for Nikobe, But why
- 15:54Speaker 1: are you trying to mess with what's not for a brokenness?
- 15:57Speaker 2: Can Campbell is sitting at now? In Greg's notes, he says, quote,
- 16:01Speaker 2: continue to Campbell continue to play significant snaps, line up
- 16:03Speaker 2: on the ball on the edge, nineteen saths versus a Rams,
- 16:06Speaker 2: eighteen versus Bucks. Now understand sometimes he's an ad in
- 16:10Speaker 2: defender against the run most times. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 16:14Speaker 2: I mean you I'd have to ask garg okay, could
- 16:15Speaker 2: you may be hard for him to do that.
- 16:19Speaker 1: The point is they're not bringing another linebacker in. When
- 16:21Speaker 1: he does that, he just walks down from his nickel
- 16:24Speaker 1: linebacker spot and is an extra man on the offensive line.
- 16:27Speaker 2: Yeah, so yeah, so look and by the Josh Husche's
- 16:31Speaker 2: look good. I want we haven't talked about him enough.
- 16:34Speaker 2: He looks good.
- 16:35Speaker 1: It's fair. It's weird that they play him. It feels
- 16:38Speaker 1: like they think that they're getting the most out of
- 16:42Speaker 1: uch Ucha in the snaps that they're giving him. And
- 16:46Speaker 1: because they're also still trying to develop Jelex Hunt because
- 16:50Speaker 1: it almost seems like you would play uch more based
- 16:53Speaker 1: on and by the way inside the data with Sam
- 16:55Speaker 1: Finkle that comes out Friday, we really go into has
- 16:58Speaker 1: been playing well as Darius Smith playing really well, so
- 17:02Speaker 1: you'll you'll want to walk out real quick.
- 17:04Speaker 2: What does he now when he talked when Sam talks
- 17:06Speaker 2: to Darius Smith, what what is he measuring? What is
- 17:08Speaker 2: he what's the talk about?
- 17:10Speaker 1: His get off rate, his pressure rate? So interestingly, I
- 17:12Speaker 1: don't want to give away the show, but doesn't have
- 17:15Speaker 1: He does not have the best get off rate among
- 17:17Speaker 1: all the edge rushers, but his pressure rate is higher,
- 17:21Speaker 1: which means he's not just a speed guy like some
- 17:24Speaker 1: of these guys. You'll see the list of edge rushers,
- 17:27Speaker 1: some of them have way better get off, but they're
- 17:29Speaker 1: not causing pressures because maybe they're just getting off so fast,
- 17:32Speaker 1: but they're getting blocked after they get it. Get off
- 17:34Speaker 1: is just the time it takes for you to get
- 17:36Speaker 1: over the line of scrimmage. But the pressures that Zadarius
- 17:39Speaker 1: Smith is creating are at a really high percentage, a
- 17:43Speaker 1: very good percentage, and basically suggests that he should play
- 17:47Speaker 1: and Vick's comments match it up that he's probably gonna
- 17:50Speaker 1: play more as the weeks go on.
- 17:52Speaker 2: And the guy spoke with he gave me a breakdown
- 17:55Speaker 2: of kind of his thoughts and egos tape so far,
- 17:57Speaker 2: because this is the job. He egals are one of
- 17:59Speaker 2: his teams. Uh, he spoke very highly with Jomo's pressure
- 18:03Speaker 2: rate is really good, probably better than you think it is,
- 18:06Speaker 2: is he explained to me. Uh, he's aware of you know,
- 18:08Speaker 2: he knew. He kind of knew going in that Ojomo
- 18:10Speaker 2: would not be good against run. He's not with the
- 18:13Speaker 2: he said, by tape study, they're just their front. Sometimes
- 18:18Speaker 2: they get up field and they blow a play up
- 18:21Speaker 2: or they get close, and then sometimes they get out
- 18:23Speaker 2: of alignment, and that's something we'll talk. I was driving
- 18:28Speaker 2: on Monday and the guy was very nice to me,
- 18:30Speaker 2: and he read a lot of stuff and I didn't
- 18:32Speaker 2: I couldn't write it down driving, but he explained to
- 18:35Speaker 2: me what what he saw, and you know, I asked him.
- 18:37Speaker 2: I asked him at a bunch of players that came
- 18:38Speaker 2: to my mind. I didn't have a list because I
- 18:39Speaker 2: don't know he's going to talk with the guy. But
- 18:41Speaker 2: he spoke super highly of Josh Uche. He said he's
- 18:45Speaker 2: totally back, not well, totally back. He's not what he
- 18:47Speaker 2: once was. That's a little bit too strong, Yeah, but
- 18:49Speaker 2: he absolutely can play. He's been a nice surprise for
- 18:52Speaker 2: the Eagles on a bargain basement deal yep. Whereas Ojelari is, uh,
- 18:57Speaker 2: he's that's a lot of money that they're not it's
- 18:59Speaker 2: not money, it's around four million, but.
- 19:02Speaker 1: I mean for good not playing. I think that that's
- 19:04Speaker 1: a pretty significant amount of money.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, right, well, no, nook. Devin White was over
- 19:08Speaker 2: five and then they had a negotiation with him so
- 19:11Speaker 2: that they pay him less than that so he can
- 19:14Speaker 2: play again the season. So but yeah, we'll talk about
- 19:18Speaker 2: that in another show kind of what whether notes we
- 19:20Speaker 2: get from people around the league. But I would say
- 19:23Speaker 2: this as we move along for this, ya, Kobe's going
- 19:26Speaker 2: to play. It's a great thing to have him, he's
- 19:28Speaker 2: a big time leader. Eagles didn't know they'd be drafting Campbell,
- 19:33Speaker 2: they didn't know that, had no idea that he would
- 19:34Speaker 2: drop as far as he did. That was certainly surprising. Yes,
- 19:37Speaker 2: he had some injury concerns, but he is so far
- 19:40Speaker 2: ahead of what anyone I've spoken to. I know you've
- 19:43Speaker 2: talked to people. No one thought he'd be this good.
- 19:45Speaker 2: And he's still got the great thing. He's got so
- 19:47Speaker 2: much room for growth. Hard to believe, but he does.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Yeah. And by the way, in case we didn't mention
- 19:52Speaker 1: this as part of the protocol, they don't have to
- 19:54Speaker 1: wait twenty one days.
- 19:56Speaker 2: He was playing this week.
- 19:57Speaker 1: He was listed as a limited participant in practice on Wednesday,
- 20:00Speaker 1: and we'll see what it means. But I would say
- 20:03Speaker 1: this because of the short turnaround for Thursday's game against
- 20:06Speaker 1: the Giants after, I think it would be hard for
- 20:08Speaker 1: him to not play against the Broncos but then be
- 20:11Speaker 1: ready to play against the Giants because they're not going
- 20:13Speaker 1: to be on the practice field in actual practices. There
- 20:17Speaker 1: are all going to be walked through days. So I
- 20:19Speaker 1: don't know that you're gonna be able to get your
- 20:20Speaker 1: conditioning and your practice under your legs. So to me,
- 20:23Speaker 1: it's more likely than not that he sees the twenty
- 20:25Speaker 1: one day window through and then they go from there.
- 20:30Speaker 2: Well, we'll learn more as we go along here. So
- 20:32Speaker 2: so that's with Nakobe a conquer's done for the season.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Towards triceps. Charlie HEWITTT Charlie Hewlett, I'm sorry, did you
- 20:40Speaker 2: say his agent saidie groin surgery core muscle. I believe
- 20:43Speaker 2: it was, so yeah, I'm sorry. Doctor Andrews would not
- 20:46Speaker 2: be happy if I called it sports tornia his cold
- 20:48Speaker 2: core surgery. And doctor Wallie Myers is he he's the
- 20:51Speaker 2: man for NFL players who's off at the Vinceara institutions
- 20:55Speaker 2: in the Naval Shipyard.
- 20:56Speaker 1: How about this, Listen, that guy has caused us Philadelphia
- 20:59Speaker 1: report Eagles. There are so many issues in the past,
- 21:01Speaker 1: unknowingly because you know, a lot of NFL players in
- 21:06Speaker 1: March after the season, when they get their you know,
- 21:08Speaker 1: body checked out and discover that they have core muscle
- 21:10Speaker 1: issues and or a sports rundia, they fly into Philly
- 21:14Speaker 1: to go see doctor Myers, and then fans inevitably see
- 21:17Speaker 1: these guys. I remember once it was Jonathan willmea with
- 21:19Speaker 1: somebody else and then they start saying hitting up the
- 21:22Speaker 1: reporters on social media or the Eagles signing this guy that,
- 21:28Speaker 1: oh god all the time, all the time. Yeah yeah,
- 21:32Speaker 1: but anyway, Yeah, so, so Hula has a groin or
- 21:36Speaker 1: a core muscle, I guess issue. So that's a tricky one, Adam,
- 21:39Speaker 1: because you know, we've seen this in the past. Guys
- 21:42Speaker 1: have come back too soon from it and then re
- 21:44Speaker 1: injured it. I don't know, like if it's different for
- 21:47Speaker 1: a long snapper where you're you're not putting as much
- 21:50Speaker 1: stress on your body.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Yeah, typically you're back within six weeks, but not everybody's
- 21:54Speaker 2: the same. So what do they do? The legendary cal
- 21:57Speaker 2: adamitas who was who were playing? These are the kind
- 22:00Speaker 2: of I love this stuff I put in my notes
- 22:02Speaker 2: because because I remember Clark Harris. He replaced Clark Harris.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Clark Harris's at one point in his career the highest
- 22:07Speaker 2: paid long snapper in NFL history. Yeah, and this Adam
- 22:12Speaker 2: minus kid, Yeah he was he was sign as an
- 22:14Speaker 2: undrector Freed and he replaced him in twenty twenty two.
- 22:17Speaker 2: And Col's no longer with the Bungles, He's now with
- 22:21Speaker 2: the Birds. And now the question will be when Hewlett's
- 22:23Speaker 2: cleared later in the season, what happens that could be
- 22:26Speaker 2: a long snapper controversy.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Ugh, boy, can you see like Nicobe Dean and Charlie
- 22:31Speaker 1: Hewlett sitting somewhere like getting a whalie pipped? Like? Oh man?
- 22:35Speaker 1: Now Andrew Andrew to check out a great note about
- 22:38Speaker 1: Adam Midas on Inside the Birds dot com. Not only
- 22:42Speaker 1: did he win the Patrick Manley Award, which is awarded
- 22:45Speaker 1: to the nation's best long snapper in college at pitt
- 22:49Speaker 1: but he grew his hair out and cut it for
- 22:52Speaker 1: Lots of Love, a nonprofit agency dedicated to helping children.
- 22:56Speaker 1: So nice, good, good on that. Get a good guy
- 22:58Speaker 1: as well.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Out of pit. Yeah, it's funny because the picture that's
- 23:01Speaker 2: out there m hm has him with long hair, so
- 23:04Speaker 2: before he did that, so good for him. And look, yeah,
- 23:07Speaker 2: that the guy was pretty accomplished. He's still pretty young,
- 23:10Speaker 2: you know long sabers. There's some long staffersuit who do
- 23:13Speaker 2: it through their early forties, so you just never know.
- 23:15Speaker 2: But and then uh, he's back APRS back Antoine Powell
- 23:19Speaker 2: Ryland is back the sixth rounder this year. They knock
- 23:23Speaker 2: on him from scouting standpoint, I'm not a great athlete,
- 23:26Speaker 2: put up really big numbers in college, but teams saw
- 23:30Speaker 2: he was too stiff, and I was I was wrong.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I thought someone would claim Off Waivers is a past rusher. Oops,
- 23:36Speaker 2: I was wrong. It didn't happen. But he is back
- 23:40Speaker 2: on Eagles practice squad with that opening, and uh, you know,
- 23:43Speaker 2: good for him. Huh APR is back and he was
- 23:48Speaker 2: with who was he? Who?
- 23:51Speaker 1: I didn't think he was with? Somebody?
- 23:52Speaker 2: Was he? I thought he? I? Yeah? They?
- 23:57Speaker 1: Yeah, no, he was.
- 23:58Speaker 2: He was cut off the practice Oh you know what
- 24:00Speaker 2: it was. I'm sorry. He had a bunch of workouts. Okay,
- 24:02Speaker 2: that's what it was. Yeah, practice squad. Yeah, he was
- 24:05Speaker 2: on the practice squad initially and then they cut him right,
- 24:07Speaker 2: and which surprised me. I'm like, jeezus, I don't know
- 24:11Speaker 2: man pass rusher numbers. There's a reason why I dropped
- 24:14Speaker 2: the six. Obviously, I guess thirty two teams are right
- 24:17Speaker 2: or thirty one were right. But you know what, good
- 24:20Speaker 2: good for him, Let him, let him steal in the
- 24:21Speaker 2: practice squad, let him develop, and goodness, the Eagles need
- 24:25Speaker 2: future pass rushers, that's for sure.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Now the Eagles still have one spot on their fifty
- 24:31Speaker 1: three manster correct.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes, it is. Andrew when we did the
- 24:35Speaker 2: BCB show said hey, they have it opening, let's see
- 24:38Speaker 2: what they do.
- 24:39Speaker 1: And now normally when they do that, I'm like, oh, well,
- 24:41Speaker 1: I know who's getting this spot because we used to
- 24:43Speaker 1: make the fun jokes about it about Kenyon Green. But
- 24:45Speaker 1: he's with the Ravens now, I believe, so they can't
- 24:48Speaker 1: bring they can't sign him too. Their fifty threes with
- 24:50Speaker 1: the Ravens.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Yep, I thought, yes, I think he did he yeah,
- 24:56Speaker 2: and then uh, Lance Dixon release off the practic squad.
- 24:59Speaker 2: They did work out up a young journeyman who's been
- 25:02Speaker 2: with Eagles before. Jacob Sykes was worked out on Wednesday.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I always find it funny when they work out a
- 25:09Speaker 1: guy who was with them all throughout. It's like, what
- 25:14Speaker 1: what did you think in the like the two weeks
- 25:16Speaker 1: since you played rosters tagle with him? He got he
- 25:18Speaker 1: gained like fifty pounds and.
- 25:22Speaker 2: It's a great it's a fair point. I find it hard.
- 25:25Speaker 2: I'm gonna I wonder if the NFL, because they do
- 25:27Speaker 2: this occasionally when teams turn in workouts, uh a past
- 25:32Speaker 2: four pm Easter and they go on the next day.
- 25:35Speaker 2: I'm just I'll check because I get you know, I
- 25:37Speaker 2: get access to all the workouts, so I'll see if
- 25:38Speaker 2: they because I think it's ridiculous that they wouldn't work
- 25:41Speaker 2: them out because right now they're punter and kicker. There
- 25:45Speaker 2: had to be pro bowlers. Okay, hmm, ringos was had
- 25:49Speaker 2: been a Pro Bowler coverage player, right yeah, they're special
- 25:52Speaker 2: teams right now they've had occasionally a guy will return
- 25:55Speaker 2: it well, but okay, you're not gonna be perfect. But
- 25:57Speaker 2: the punter and kicker absolutely stars. The two they've got
- 26:01Speaker 2: three blocks now crazy. It's Mike Klang for man. Fans
- 26:07Speaker 2: used to beat him up. They wanted this guy fired.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Why is he here? This guy stinks. Yeah, you gotta
- 26:14Speaker 2: let people grow as coaches, folks. You can't fire everybody
- 26:17Speaker 2: every week. They're not gonna have many coaches.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Left there you go. Then, amazingly, Kevin Batula is still
- 26:22Speaker 1: walking around the d.
- 26:22Speaker 2: I don't know how he wasn't fired us for four weeks.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Course then I gotta, I gotta. This is one of
- 26:27Speaker 2: my favorite all five time, all top five all time
- 26:31Speaker 2: complain from fans. Uh when the Eagles collapse totally in
- 26:36Speaker 2: twenty three, they went to Jeff Lowry. It's not l
- 26:39Speaker 2: U R I a Jeff Lorie to sell the football Eagles.
- 26:43Speaker 2: They had it with him. The team collaps, it's his fault.
- 26:46Speaker 2: They can't spell his last name.
- 26:47Speaker 1: I love it l a u R.
- 26:51Speaker 2: I love it when fans like you're talking about one
- 26:53Speaker 2: of the best owners of professional sports. It's look, he's
- 26:57Speaker 2: by the way without him, how he went and fired
- 26:59Speaker 2: five times? Yeah, offense, he's not the best GM in
- 27:02Speaker 2: the league. Give Jeffrey credit for back in Holle when
- 27:05Speaker 2: he could have fired him.
- 27:06Speaker 1: By the way, my mom accidentally calls him Jeffrey Laurier.
- 27:09Speaker 1: I'm like, you got the wrong owner, wrong owner of
- 27:12Speaker 1: the former Marlins owner, right, Jeffrey.
- 27:14Speaker 2: No nobod who called him that?
- 27:15Speaker 1: My mother Lauria?
- 27:17Speaker 2: Oh god, the ex boats and Marlin's owner. Yeah, right, right,
- 27:23Speaker 2: that's why.
- 27:24Speaker 1: She is, Yes, exactly. All right, let's get into some
- 27:26Speaker 1: Eagles injury updates before that quick word from our great sponsors. Hey,
- 27:31Speaker 1: you know that one guy in the group chat who
- 27:34Speaker 1: hit a five leg parlay week one and he wouldn't
- 27:36Speaker 1: shut up about it for the rest of the season.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Sounds like Kaplan, right, Yeah, yeah, it could be him.
- 27:42Speaker 1: It could be you, and we would all want to
- 27:45Speaker 1: be you. My Bookie makes it stupid easy to get

- 29:44Speaker 1: So this Dallas Scoddard thing man, he keeps kind of
- 29:47Speaker 1: hurting himself and popping up. You know, I know he was.
- 29:50Speaker 1: I believe he was out of practice Wednesday, right, did
- 29:52Speaker 1: not practice?
- 29:54Speaker 2: Yes, so he was re added to the injury board.
- 29:56Speaker 2: So he was removed last week and then now we
- 30:00Speaker 2: don't know if it's the same knee. We're not sure,
- 30:03Speaker 2: but it's a it's a knee issue. He didn't practice Wednesday.
- 30:06Speaker 2: We'll see what happens today. Mm hmm.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Boy.
- 30:08Speaker 2: If he if he's even limited, I would bet the
- 30:10Speaker 2: house he's playing.
- 30:12Speaker 1: I would too.
- 30:12Speaker 2: He's got to get out there. Man, this this, this,
- 30:15Speaker 2: this is I don't know man anyway. Uh and we
- 30:19Speaker 2: saw life without him ain't grand, but this camlot too?
- 30:21Speaker 2: Would they please play him in lines? I get it
- 30:24Speaker 2: as a fullback. He's had some nice blocks. He's an
- 30:25Speaker 2: in line tight end. Move him there, all right, that's
- 30:27Speaker 2: my soapbox. Lane Johnson with a shoulder stinger limited on Wednesday.
- 30:31Speaker 2: He did some work. Now here's the question. With stingers,
- 30:36Speaker 2: you typically get it massaged out, but he hasn't completely
- 30:39Speaker 2: got rid of it. Yes, Fred Johnson's done a nice job,
- 30:43Speaker 2: but you know, there's no way to know if it's
- 30:46Speaker 2: going to go week to week with him. There's he
- 30:47Speaker 2: he he doesn't even know. It's just it's got to
- 30:49Speaker 2: leave his system, but it's still there.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Yeah, you know this is the time where if your
- 30:53Speaker 1: Eagles you were, you wish you like your bye week
- 30:56Speaker 1: was coming up soon so you could like kind of
- 30:58Speaker 1: try to your best to get through it and then
- 30:59Speaker 1: you have a week and then another week to rest
- 31:01Speaker 1: a guy. But they don't have one for a while,
- 31:03Speaker 1: so wet. That's more so with these injuries where you
- 31:08Speaker 1: can play through it, but then you also run the
- 31:10Speaker 1: risk of reaggravating it constantly and it becomes a little
- 31:13Speaker 1: bit of a cat and mouse game with the treatment there.
- 31:16Speaker 2: So yeah, there by is week nine, right, so yeah,
- 31:21Speaker 2: and we're now we're moving along. Now it's week five already.
- 31:23Speaker 1: So hey man, after this week, you're five of seventeen
- 31:27Speaker 1: is almost like thirty percent. It's crazy to me, I know,
- 31:29Speaker 1: it's how fast this thing moves, right, I.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Got buys this week, the first week of buys. So anyway, yep,
- 31:35Speaker 2: so oll right. Jalen Carter still with his shoulder, issuing
- 31:38Speaker 2: Dory Jackson with going nowt here's a good thing. Carter
- 31:40Speaker 2: worked well Wednesday, so did Jackson. Now he wasn't really
- 31:45Speaker 2: that close last week. He was not expected to play
- 31:47Speaker 2: all week. He was kind of knew that. But they
- 31:49Speaker 2: did get him some work very late, very limited work.
- 31:52Speaker 2: He's doing more this week. Jaylen Carter, Look, you saw him.
- 31:56Speaker 2: He held his shoulder. We talked about this and our
- 32:00Speaker 2: initial reporting with card when they draft Roim. The one
- 32:01Speaker 2: issue that you had on and off the field was
- 32:03Speaker 2: a shoulder issue. We don't know if it's the same shoulder.
- 32:07Speaker 2: We're looking into it but the bottom line is he
- 32:10Speaker 2: saw him. He was in pain. He did talk after
- 32:12Speaker 2: the game. He felt he needed to go out there
- 32:13Speaker 2: and do the right thing by his teammates, a great
- 32:16Speaker 2: job by him. This could be recurring all season, you know,
- 32:20Speaker 2: this is but that's why barn Young's playing as much
- 32:23Speaker 2: as he is. That's it. I mean, they just don't
- 32:26Speaker 2: they're kind of they don't have a lot of you know,
- 32:29Speaker 2: Ty Robinson's not ready to play. He's just not ready
- 32:31Speaker 2: to contribute yet. So till he is, Barron Young's that
- 32:34Speaker 2: first guy off the bench, and that's it.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Yeah. Ty Robinson's sort of like the forgotten draft pick
- 32:39Speaker 1: because you know, there was an opportunity we thought with
- 32:41Speaker 1: the thinness of DT for him to be able to
- 32:44Speaker 1: at least get some rotational time. But he's just not
- 32:47Speaker 1: there yet. He's not ready. He wasn't ready in camp.
- 32:49Speaker 1: We talked about his preseason performances were a little inconsistent.
- 32:52Speaker 1: He overplayed some angles at times, and obviously Vick still
- 32:56Speaker 1: feels that he needs more time before he gets on
- 32:59Speaker 1: the field.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Yeah, real quick, Greg said he was very raw in
- 33:02Speaker 2: the preseason. Greg, we asked him to if you could
- 33:05Speaker 2: watch the preseason tape there' shutin' questions we had. He
- 33:07Speaker 2: said he was really raw by what.
- 33:08Speaker 1: He saw, right, Yeah, yeah, that sounds about right. This
- 33:13Speaker 1: Jalen Carter thing. Man, it's very weird, don't even I mean,
- 33:17Speaker 1: he looks at times like the camera will focus on
- 33:21Speaker 1: him on the sideline and he's grabbing his shoulder like
- 33:23Speaker 1: you would think he's in a pretty severe amount of pain.
- 33:26Speaker 1: But both he vic well vic vic shrunk's off everybody's pain.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Like you could be, like, you know, have bloody and
- 33:32Speaker 1: dead on the field, and he would tell you to
- 33:33Speaker 1: get your ass out there. But it just seems like
- 33:36Speaker 1: Carter's really fighting through it. Now. We know he had
- 33:39Speaker 1: some stuff in college, but I don't remember it is
- 33:42Speaker 1: first or second year. Seeing this hit him like really
- 33:45Speaker 1: battling it like we're seeing now.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it's something that's got to be monitor to the
- 33:51Speaker 2: point if they think it's gonna be chronic, which right
- 33:55Speaker 2: now seems to be. Hey, you, I don't know if
- 33:57Speaker 2: you realize this. You know, you guys put that injury
- 33:59Speaker 2: report out in training camp. He was on the first one.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I remember he remember last year, Yeah, last
- 34:07Speaker 1: year at him they would put him on the injury.
- 34:08Speaker 1: He would miss like a Wednesday practice for a shoulder,
- 34:11Speaker 1: and you and I would be like, well, we know
- 34:13Speaker 1: about his history, but it's he just played the game.
- 34:15Speaker 1: He didn't look like he was. It would be sort
- 34:17Speaker 1: of surprised. It felt like a pop up, and then
- 34:18Speaker 1: it would never become anything.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Well he did. He has missed time for with it,
- 34:22Speaker 2: by the way.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Yeah, just not in the NFL, though, I'm saying.
- 34:25Speaker 2: I think he I'll look, I'm reasonably sure he has
- 34:28Speaker 2: missed a game because of it.
- 34:29Speaker 1: Okay, maybe maybe maybe he did miss a game, but yeah,
- 34:33Speaker 1: it's just this is the first time I can remember
- 34:35Speaker 1: seeing him like sort of visibly in pain and trying
- 34:38Speaker 1: to fight through it.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Camera showed him on the sideline your right, and you
- 34:41Speaker 2: know the heat. Andrew was there. I talked to in fact,
- 34:44Speaker 2: Andrew and I. The waitress waited on us at Chickies
- 34:47Speaker 2: on Tuesday. She was at the game. She said she
- 34:49Speaker 2: had to go to the concourse it was so hot.
- 34:52Speaker 1: M M.
- 34:52Speaker 2: You know, yeah, car has missed now he missed one game.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Sixteen games each the last two years. But didn't they
- 34:59Speaker 1: not play their players in the season finale?
- 35:02Speaker 2: I think one of them. I thought one of them
- 35:05Speaker 2: they did play the starters because they didn't play well.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Was it twenty three?
- 35:10Speaker 1: He wasn't.
- 35:12Speaker 2: That's a good call, double check. But the bottom line
- 35:14Speaker 2: is he's had this recurring shoulder problem that we definitely
- 35:17Speaker 2: know because it's a fact, Right, he's had shoulder problems.
- 35:19Speaker 2: So it's something to keep an eye on as you
- 35:22Speaker 2: go along. Hair, And look, that's part of why at
- 35:24Speaker 2: times he's not played well this season. That's just that's
- 35:27Speaker 2: part of it.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Yeah, No, that's fair. Yeah, you're right. It looked like
- 35:31Speaker 1: his first year he missed Week six, It looked like
- 35:35Speaker 1: he didn't didn't play there. Okay, I'm sure it shoulder, Yeah,
- 35:40Speaker 1: all right, So we'll just have to I wonder if
- 35:43Speaker 1: in the off season we're going to find out he,
- 35:45Speaker 1: you know, has a surgery of something or something. Yeah,
- 35:48Speaker 1: because usually that stuff doesn't just go away on its own, right,
- 35:50Speaker 1: I mean, if there's something structurally or it's something in
- 35:53Speaker 1: there that's going to keep bothering him, it's hard to
- 35:56Speaker 1: see that just go away.
- 35:57Speaker 2: And how I mean, look when they get the week
- 36:00Speaker 2: nine to bye man rehab the hell out of it,
- 36:02Speaker 2: man massages and treatment and anyway, right, all.
- 36:08Speaker 1: Right, And Nondri Jackson still limited with the groin. We'll
- 36:10Speaker 1: see again. I thought Killy Ringo did held his own
- 36:13Speaker 1: as a coverage.
- 36:14Speaker 2: I know for a fact he did. By the way,
- 36:16Speaker 2: just on your point off you can't see it off TV.
- 36:19Speaker 2: For for the amateurs who were watching off TV saying,
- 36:22Speaker 2: oh they didn't throw them, he didn't. He didn't do anything.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Two people told me who great Eagles tape he was.
- 36:29Speaker 2: One guy said, Okay, there were a couple of times
- 36:31Speaker 2: where they probably could have beaten him, he thought, because
- 36:34Speaker 2: he was behind a little bit, he said, overall, but
- 36:36Speaker 2: overall not on not in coverage ones to throw to him.
- 36:43Speaker 2: Mostly he was where he's supposed to be. Like he
- 36:46Speaker 2: he was there like Vic wasn't just making it up.
- 36:49Speaker 2: He was sticky, that's the term. Yeah, so we were
- 36:52Speaker 2: right he was.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that he just did poor and tackling.
- 36:57Speaker 2: Yeah, there were a couple like dude, what he was like?
- 37:00Speaker 2: If you if you ask defensive bass coach, what's it
- 37:03Speaker 2: when you're great? What? What? What's what are your like?
- 37:05Speaker 2: Five top things coverages Number one, that's there's no debate
- 37:08Speaker 2: over it. Tackling is clearly in the top five, if
- 37:11Speaker 2: not top three. Angles the one was so off. I
- 37:15Speaker 2: was like, but now now I like VI explanation. I
- 37:18Speaker 2: think it's fair. There's the way you tackles a special
- 37:20Speaker 2: teams player. There's a way you tackles the corner. I
- 37:22Speaker 2: thought that was pretty good.
- 37:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that is true. But yes, you're right. In VIX defense,
- 37:26Speaker 1: where you're playing a lot of zone, you ask you're
- 37:29Speaker 1: running your your corners.
- 37:30Speaker 2: Not as much, not as much.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Well there's the plane even when they they play. Yeah,
- 37:34Speaker 1: you're right, you're not not as much, way more heavily zone. Yeah.
- 37:37Speaker 1: But the point is you don't the outside corners. Sometimes
- 37:40Speaker 1: they're passing off guys so they don't have to run
- 37:41Speaker 1: all downfield. You gotta tackle when the balls coming your way.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Gotta be a little better. Yeah, and I and look,
- 37:48Speaker 2: he also had a hole that wasn't called Quinnon, who
- 37:51Speaker 2: was a stud in this game. Rereco Sells called him
- 37:53Speaker 2: a top three corner.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Not arguing with Greg. They got to watch the hands
- 37:58Speaker 2: East be in the Hands East.
- 38:00Speaker 1: You know, I've never been so proud of my pregame
- 38:02Speaker 1: m v P pick as I was for picking quin.
- 38:05Speaker 2: I don't know why you thought so, Why did you
- 38:07Speaker 2: think so so?
- 38:08Speaker 1: I kind of thought that I think. I thought what
- 38:13Speaker 1: happened is what I thought is that Baker wasn't going
- 38:15Speaker 1: to really without Mike Evans. Baker was only going to
- 38:18Speaker 1: trustg Buka, And I thought Vic was going to travel Mitchell.
- 38:22Speaker 1: And I know Baker is sort of cocky, so I
- 38:25Speaker 1: felt like he was. I felt like Baker was going
- 38:28Speaker 1: to say, do I want to go away for Quinnon
- 38:30Speaker 1: and then try to throw the ball all day to
- 38:31Speaker 1: strolling Shepherd and and who's the other receiver that they have?
- 38:35Speaker 1: Who's just okay? And god win? But even god wins
- 38:37Speaker 1: the spot guy, So you know, yeah, so I just
- 38:40Speaker 1: I felt he was going to take his chances. I'm
- 38:42Speaker 1: going to tog Buka against Mitchell, and he did, and
- 38:45Speaker 1: Mitchell got the best of it.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Yeah, and the one play, you know, the one plays,
- 38:51Speaker 2: as Greg explained to me, Now they they they were
- 38:54Speaker 2: a little bit late. They could knock it down. See
- 38:56Speaker 2: I saw watching off TV. It looked to me down Yeah,
- 39:00Speaker 2: I mean, but but again that was a fluke play.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Quanyon is an absolute stud like this, how we it?
- 39:07Speaker 2: No one's perfect? If you you know, we beat him
- 39:09Speaker 2: up pretty bad before twenty one. We just always tell
- 39:11Speaker 2: the truth right, that's a top five draft for since
- 39:13Speaker 2: twenty one. Less need. A lot of people think that
- 39:16Speaker 2: Rams are the best drafting team.
- 39:18Speaker 1: They're really good.
- 39:19Speaker 2: They're really good, you know they Now I still struggle
- 39:22Speaker 2: with their inside backers, but that's another story for another time,
- 39:24Speaker 2: and how how weak they are at corner and how
- 39:26Speaker 2: they get away with it. Yeah, but coaching matters. But uh, look,
- 39:31Speaker 2: nothing's ever perfect. But he like Quanyon and all the
- 39:35Speaker 2: all the criticisms about oh, we can't play man coverage
- 39:38Speaker 2: all the senior ball, it doesn't matter, that's only three
- 39:40Speaker 2: days of practice. Well it sure as hell mattered because
- 39:43Speaker 2: every NFL team said, we're not drafted in the first
- 39:45Speaker 2: round you even consider it unless he plays man coverage.
- 39:48Speaker 2: And he did. Good have Jim Naggat did to agree
- 39:50Speaker 2: to it?
- 39:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, all right, So that is all right. Let's
- 39:54Speaker 1: talk about some Eagles who are not on the injury report.
- 39:56Speaker 1: Good news for them and good news of course for
- 39:59Speaker 1: the Eagles. Real quick, though, I just wanted to not forget.
- 40:02Speaker 1: I wanted to thank three people. I think our viewers
- 40:05Speaker 1: on YouTube have probably noticed that we have really nice
- 40:08Speaker 1: new overlays on a lot of our shows and new
- 40:11Speaker 1: cover art and podcast art and just our graphic designs
- 40:15Speaker 1: I think are way more appealing to the eye on
- 40:17Speaker 1: a lot of our shows. And I want to thank
- 40:19Speaker 1: Nick Palmisano, who has been doing an excellent job as
- 40:22Speaker 1: our graphic design intern. He's also making a lot of
- 40:24Speaker 1: great social media clips, but the graphic design work has
- 40:27Speaker 1: been phenomenal. He's a great kid. I know his father.
- 40:30Speaker 1: By the way, Palmisano's sandwich shop on Egg Harbor Road
- 40:33Speaker 1: in Sewel is the best sandwich you will ever eat
- 40:36Speaker 1: in your life. In fact, I love it all, but
- 40:38Speaker 1: I keep ordering the flame Mignon cheese steak because it's
- 40:41Speaker 1: that good. But they do they do they actually do
- 40:45Speaker 1: they have a time there? Yeah? Absolutely, Okay. I'm in
- 40:49Speaker 1: as on Egg Harbor Road in Sewel, which is also Washington.
- 40:54Speaker 1: And then also want to thank Xander Jackson who is
- 40:56Speaker 1: making all of our great social media clips on Instagram, YouTube,
- 41:02Speaker 1: and Donovan Worthy, another rowan's doing just like like Xanders,
- 41:06Speaker 1: is our audio and video editing intern, and he's been
- 41:09Speaker 1: helping us out behind the scenes with all of his production.
- 41:13Speaker 2: I want to in fact Neil Hartman.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Neil has been great.
- 41:16Speaker 2: Who's who oversees the UH brock sports, I mean the
- 41:19Speaker 2: broadcasting for is he the dean of like the broadcasting.
- 41:23Speaker 1: Yeah, it's basically not just broadcasting. It's all sports media,
- 41:26Speaker 1: sports reporting, sports media curriculum at Rowan, which is like
- 41:30Speaker 1: the fastest growing curriculum at the school, which itself is
- 41:34Speaker 1: growing fast if you've ever been there around there in
- 41:35Speaker 1: South Jersey. So Neil's done an excellent job.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Love working with him, great dude. Yeah, I've known Neil
- 41:41Speaker 2: from number of years. And by the former Glassborough State
- 41:44Speaker 2: by the way, for those of you don't know, correct,
- 41:46Speaker 2: that's correct, which believe it or not. I have friends,
- 41:49Speaker 2: I have friends who actually played baseball I believe or
- 41:51Speaker 2: not when it was Glassborough. But anyway, yeah, what's that?
- 41:56Speaker 1: Then there used to be a Trenton State and now that's.
- 41:59Speaker 2: Yes, all right, let's go. Let's let's add this. This
- 42:05Speaker 2: is good news off the injury report, which is another
- 42:07Speaker 2: thing we picked start doing last year with the first week,
- 42:09Speaker 2: we're gonna do this. But this is this is actually
- 42:10Speaker 2: pretty good. Tanner Mcki is no longer the injury report
- 42:14Speaker 2: barks something highly foreseeen. He should be the number two
- 42:16Speaker 2: quarterback on Sunday. That matters because it hurts, gets hurt,
- 42:19Speaker 2: he's in and it's healed. That's a good for him.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Shipley's ribs of healed enough that he's not on the
- 42:25Speaker 2: injury report. Also great news. Campbell off with the triceps,
- 42:29Speaker 2: bought off with the knee because you know, reporters are
- 42:31Speaker 2: a lowed they only Therefore they only get fifteen to
- 42:33Speaker 2: twenty minutes to watch warm ups practice because you know
- 42:37Speaker 2: one guy's wearing a brace, the other guy's got something
- 42:39Speaker 2: on his arm or whatever the case may be. Well,
- 42:42Speaker 2: guess what they're off the injury report.
- 42:44Speaker 1: That's great news, absolutely all right. Now, there are some
- 42:47Speaker 1: Broncos injuries we got to get into, and we'll get
- 42:49Speaker 1: into that in a second. Just one last pause for
- 42:51Speaker 1: a word from some great sponsors. Hey, fall is planting season.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Did you know that many plants and trees actually do
- 42:57Speaker 1: better when planted this time of the year. But you

- 45:16Speaker 1: experience made for Philly fans twenty one and up. All right, Well, adam,
- 45:20Speaker 1: They the Broncos are nursing a couple of injuries, and
- 45:22Speaker 1: the one that really jumps out is Nick Bonito, who
- 45:25Speaker 1: is probably I don't want him to say the most
- 45:28Speaker 1: underrated because football people know. I just don't think the
- 45:30Speaker 1: whole country, the football fans know how good Nick Benito
- 45:34Speaker 1: really is.
- 45:35Speaker 2: You know, it's funny. Greg's not perfect. He gets some
- 45:37Speaker 2: stuff like look, he can't look. He just goes by.
- 45:39Speaker 2: Here's what the tape looks like. Yeah, he loved Benito
- 45:43Speaker 2: like it was his own song. Like he was like
- 45:45Speaker 2: this kid, it's funny. He told me, He's like, why
- 45:49Speaker 2: are people talking? Because he always asked me, hey is
- 45:51Speaker 2: this guy that a lot of people are talking about
- 45:53Speaker 2: around the league. I go, yes, Scott and people like
- 45:55Speaker 2: him second third round wound up being a second rounder.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Right.
- 45:58Speaker 2: I love this kid, loves this tape. He's an absolute study.
- 46:02Speaker 2: Got he he's the highest paid defender at rusher in
- 46:05Speaker 2: Bronco's history. But really good football player. He's going to play.
- 46:08Speaker 2: My understanding what their injuries are very simple. Benito was
- 46:11Speaker 2: gonna play with the risk injury. Alex Singleton came back
- 46:13Speaker 2: from the ACL injury. He's got a thumb injury. He's
- 46:15Speaker 2: playing through it. Marvin mems there, who's really explosive their
- 46:19Speaker 2: punt and kickoff return and receiver. We're going to break
- 46:22Speaker 2: down the receiver corp which is really deep and really good.
- 46:24Speaker 2: This is I know the Bucks didn't have Evans. That's
- 46:27Speaker 2: why I like the Eagles to win that game last week.
- 46:29Speaker 2: I know the Bronco has been in consistent this season.
- 46:31Speaker 2: They are really deep at receiver. This is a tough
- 46:34Speaker 2: matchup for the Eagles, so they're going to have those guys.
- 46:37Speaker 2: Dre Greenlaw will not play. He was on injury reserve
- 46:39Speaker 2: and I don't know that he even would start. Justin Strnad,
- 46:42Speaker 2: who's been with them for a number of years. Originally
- 46:44Speaker 2: he was drafted by the Broncos. I think he probably
- 46:47Speaker 2: would have started over He's a good football player. But
- 46:49Speaker 2: green Law quadroceps. You know, it's a shame. He's not
- 46:51Speaker 2: been the same since he was at the A c
- 46:54Speaker 2: L in the Super Bowl. When he was running onto
- 46:57Speaker 2: the field, where is it, Achilles?
- 46:59Speaker 1: No Achilles?
- 46:59Speaker 2: It was a killes, killies, Okay, killes. Such a shame
- 47:02Speaker 2: he's not been the same. But yeah, they're another team
- 47:06Speaker 2: that typically does not have a lot of places I
- 47:11Speaker 2: chart this stuff. They don't typically have a lot of
- 47:13Speaker 2: players on the injury report for forever reason. So give
- 47:17Speaker 2: their their medical staff credits. Credit to them, and that's
- 47:20Speaker 2: why they're good.
- 47:21Speaker 1: I think if you would have asked me, I don't know.
- 47:23Speaker 1: I guess after twenty twenty season, would Alex Singleton, after
- 47:27Speaker 1: his Eagles career, still be a good and serviceable starting
- 47:31Speaker 1: linebacker for a good playoff team in twenty twenty five,
- 47:35Speaker 1: I'd probably say no, you know, because he's not everybody's
- 47:39Speaker 1: cup of tea with this skill set, but he is
- 47:41Speaker 1: for that defense. He's been good. I think he's had
- 47:43Speaker 1: a couple of hundred tackle years for them, So good for.
- 47:45Speaker 2: Him coming up the ACO. I talked to Alex at
- 47:48Speaker 2: the Super Bowl at the media radio row whatever you
- 47:52Speaker 2: call it. Great dude, just great work for the community.
- 47:55Speaker 2: Good for him, and he got a huge contract.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:58Speaker 2: One of his agents to him high school.
- 48:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:03Speaker 1: It's just it's sort of like, for a little while,
- 48:06Speaker 1: Singleton was kind of the poster child of what was
- 48:09Speaker 1: wrong with egos linebackers, that they were all just like
- 48:12Speaker 1: undrafted guys that you're trying to exactly right. He was
- 48:16Speaker 1: pretty good, just like t Jbwards end up being making
- 48:19Speaker 1: himself pretty good, but there were so many others around
- 48:21Speaker 1: him that were not that it just brought down the
- 48:24Speaker 1: entire defense, right, and.
- 48:26Speaker 2: So we're gonna talk. We'll talk Roddie Moss on Friday,
- 48:28Speaker 2: who some teams told me they thought it was a safety.
- 48:30Speaker 2: He's too high hipped, too much. He's a really good athlete.
- 48:33Speaker 2: But could he play? Could he be a started corner?
- 48:35Speaker 2: The answer is yes. We'll get into him on John
- 48:38Speaker 2: Cooper's a good, very unready ash rusher with Benito. We'll
- 48:41Speaker 2: talk about John Franklin Myers has revived his career after
- 48:44Speaker 2: he was traded from the Jets. Talk about Dobbins who
- 48:46Speaker 2: has revived his career again. Rgie Harvey, that really good
- 48:49Speaker 2: offensive line. It's one of these things where you go, well,
- 48:51Speaker 2: why aren't they better? We're gonna talk to Coseelle about
- 48:53Speaker 2: that on Friday or Saturday whatever.
- 48:55Speaker 1: That's a that's a great point, don't it? Is Zach
- 48:57Speaker 1: Allen healthy for them?
- 48:58Speaker 2: He's yeah, yeah, plary guy. The Eagles, really really good player.
- 49:02Speaker 2: They were not in his price range. Show they didn't.
- 49:04Speaker 2: They didn't. I don't even I don't. I can't remember
- 49:05Speaker 2: if they made it off. I know they really liked him.
- 49:07Speaker 2: But he's just a good football player there. They have
- 49:10Speaker 2: good schemes, yep. It's one of these things you scratch
- 49:14Speaker 2: your head because they boy, they they've turned around with
- 49:16Speaker 2: Sean Payton. The coaching is really good, but what they
- 49:19Speaker 2: you would think they'd be a little bit better. But
- 49:20Speaker 2: we'll see, we'll see what Greg says.
- 49:22Speaker 1: There you go, all right, That is a great look
- 49:25Speaker 1: at what's going on with the Eagles right now and
- 49:27Speaker 1: what's going on with the Broncos. And of course the
- 49:30Speaker 1: next time you hear us break more down it will
- 49:32Speaker 1: be with Greg Cosel on the Inside the Birds pregame show.
- 49:36Speaker 1: But we also have more Birds Weekly coming up, more
- 49:39Speaker 1: to check o dailies, and a lot more content and
- 49:41Speaker 1: coverage on the Inside the Birds platform. That will do
- 49:44Speaker 1: it for this episode of Inside the Birds, the leading
- 49:47Speaker 1: podcast in Eagles Intel, and as always, we thank you
- 49:50Speaker 1: for flying with us Inside the Birds
