Mega Edition: Jeffrey Epstein And The Claim He Tried To Whack Himself 3 Times While Locked Up (8/23/26) · The Epstein Chronicles

• 0:00
Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:03
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. Over the past day and a half or so,
• 0:07
Speaker 1: the New York Times has the new article out talking
• 0:09
Speaker 1: about Nicholas Tartaglioni and how Tartaglioni told them that Epstein
• 0:14
Speaker 1: tried to kill himself three times prior tim actually doing it,
• 0:19
Speaker 1: and these next couple of episodes is my response to
• 0:23
Speaker 1: their findings. The latest New York Times account of Jeffrey
• 0:29
Speaker 1: Epstein's final weeks asked the public to accept an extraordinary
• 0:32
Speaker 1: new proposition on the authority of an extraordinarily compromised source.
• 0:37
Speaker 1: According to the account now traveling through the medio ecosystem,
• 0:41
Speaker 1: Epstein did not merely experience the disputed July twenty third
• 0:45
Speaker 1: incident before his death on August tenth, twenty nineteen. He
• 0:49
Speaker 1: supposedly attempted to take his own life on at least
• 0:52
Speaker 1: three separate occasions while Nicholas Tartaglioni was his cellmate. That
• 0:57
Speaker 1: would be a major addition to the established chronology of
• 1:00
Speaker 1: one of the most closely scrutinized custodial deaths in modern
• 1:03
Speaker 1: American history. It would fundamentally alter how Epstein's behavior, his
• 1:08
Speaker 1: suicide risk, the decisions of psychological personnel, and the conduct
• 1:13
Speaker 1: of correctional officers should be understood. Yet this allegedly critical
• 1:18
Speaker 1: information does not emerge from contemporaneous psychological assessment, a correctional report,
• 1:24
Speaker 1: a medical entry, a surveillance recording, a documented warning placed
• 1:29
Speaker 1: in Epstein's institutional file. It emerges years later from Nicholas Tartaglioni,
• 1:34
Speaker 1: a former police officer convicted of murdering four men and
• 1:37
Speaker 1: burying them in a mass grave. Tartaglioni is not merely
• 1:42
Speaker 1: a witness within perfections around the edges. He is a
• 1:46
Speaker 1: profoundly interested participant whose own treatment, legal interests, reputation, and
• 1:51
Speaker 1: possible culpability have always been entangled with the July twenty
• 1:55
Speaker 1: third episode, before the press converts his story into history,
• 2:00
Speaker 1: explain why a claim of this magnitude remained invisible throughout
• 2:03
Speaker 1: the investigations supposedly designed to uncover exactly this kind of information. Now,
• 2:10
Speaker 1: the first obligation of responsible journalism is not to treat
• 2:14
Speaker 1: every source equally, because every source is not equally credible.
• 2:19
Speaker 1: Journalists routinely evaluate whether a source had the opportunity to
• 2:22
Speaker 1: observe an event whether the account remained consistent, whether supporting
• 2:27
Speaker 1: records exist, and whether the source has motives to mislead.
• 2:32
Speaker 1: On every one of those questions, Tartaglioni's account demands aggressive
• 2:36
Speaker 1: scrutiny rather than reverend transcription. He was sharing a confined
• 2:41
Speaker 1: space with Epstein, so he undoubtedly possessed access that few
• 2:44
Speaker 1: other people had. Access, however, is not the same thing
• 2:48
Speaker 1: as honesty. A person may be uniquely physicianed to describe
• 2:52
Speaker 1: an event while also being uniquely motivated to distort it.
• 2:57
Speaker 1: Tartaglione had a direct interest in portraying himself as Epstein's
• 3:01
Speaker 1: protector rather than his tormentor. He also had reason to
• 3:05
Speaker 1: undermine Epstein's reported allegation that Tartaglioni had attacked or threatened
• 3:10
Speaker 1: them inside the cell. Every news story in which Tartaglioni
• 3:14
Speaker 1: becomes a vigilant man who repeatedly saved Epstein helps rehabilitate
• 3:18
Speaker 1: Tartaglioni's role in the most controversial pre death incident. That
• 3:23
Speaker 1: conflict of interest should be displayed at the center of
• 3:26
Speaker 1: the reporting, not treated as a minor biographical complication. The
• 3:32
Speaker 1: July twenty third incident has always been one of the
• 3:34
Speaker 1: most disputed portions of the Epstein jail chronology. Epstein was
• 3:39
Speaker 1: discovered injured in his cell with marks around his neck,
• 3:42
Speaker 1: and officials were left to determine whether he had attempted suicide,
• 3:45
Speaker 1: been assaulted, or participated in some other event. Earlier reporting
• 3:50
Speaker 1: indicated that Epstein had implicated Dartaglioni, although accounts differed over
• 3:55
Speaker 1: precisely what Epstein said and whether he later retreated from
• 3:59
Speaker 1: that accusation. Tartaglioni denied harming them, and his attorneys forcefully
• 4:04
Speaker 1: argued that their client had instead acted to help them.
• 4:09
Speaker 1: That dispute was not some irrelevant disagreement occurring before the
• 4:12
Speaker 1: supposedly important events. It's the very reason Tartaglioni's later narrative
• 4:17
Speaker 1: cannot be examined as though it came from a neutral
• 4:20
Speaker 1: observer standing outside the controversy. His reputation and potential exposure
• 4:26
Speaker 1: were tied to whether Epstein had been suicidal or whether
• 4:29
Speaker 1: something violent had occurred between them. The more suicidal Epstein appears,
• 4:34
Speaker 1: the less plausible any accusation against Tartaglioni becomes. The more
• 4:38
Speaker 1: Tartaglioni appears to have repeatedly intervened, the more he's transformed
• 4:43
Speaker 1: from suspect aggressor into misunderstood rescuer. The Times should therefore
• 4:48
Speaker 1: treat every detail he supplies as testimony offered by an
• 4:52
Speaker 1: interested party, not as a lost chapter finally delivered by
• 4:55
Speaker 1: an unimpeachable narrator, and look, Tartaglioni's criminal history doesn't automatically
• 5:01
Speaker 1: prove that every statement he makes is false. Even convicted
• 5:05
Speaker 1: murderers can tell the truth, and serious analysis should never
• 5:09
Speaker 1: rely on the crude proposition that a criminal record makes
• 5:12
Speaker 1: all testimony worthless. The problem is that Tartaglioni's background combines
• 5:18
Speaker 1: with concrete incentives, delayed disclosure, missing documentation, and a story
• 5:24
Speaker 1: that materially benefits him. He was convicted of murdering four
• 5:27
Speaker 1: men in a case involving drugs, money, deception, concealment, and
• 5:31
Speaker 1: the burial of bodies on property associated with them. Those
• 5:35
Speaker 1: facts speak directly to whether uncorroborated claims from him should
• 5:39
Speaker 1: be accepted without extraordinary verification. This is not moral grandstanding
• 5:44
Speaker 1: about whether the public should dislike an unsavory man. It
• 5:48
Speaker 1: is conventional source analysis of the kind newsrooms claim to
• 5:51
Speaker 1: perform every day. A reporter would not accept an accused
• 5:55
Speaker 1: executive self serving account of a corporate scandal without documents
• 5:59
Speaker 1: and independ and witnesses. A prosecutor would not build a
• 6:03
Speaker 1: responsible case around a cooperating criminal without attempting to corroborate
• 6:07
Speaker 1: every significant detail. A historian would not elevate a late
• 6:11
Speaker 1: recollection over contemporary records without explaining the discrepancy. Yet Tartaglione's
• 6:18
Speaker 1: tail is now being offered as though the darkness of
• 6:21
Speaker 1: his history somehow makes them more colorful and therefore more
• 6:25
Speaker 1: compelling truth teller. The absence of these alleged attempts from
• 6:30
Speaker 1: the official record is not a minor clerical omission. The
• 6:33
Speaker 1: Justice Department Inspector General spent years examining the Bureau of
• 6:37
Speaker 1: Prison's custody, care and supervision of Epstein at the Metropolitan
• 6:41
Speaker 1: Correctional Center. Investigators examine the actions of guards, supervisors, psychologists, administrators,
• 6:48
Speaker 1: medical personnel, and others responsible for his safety. They reconstructed
• 6:53
Speaker 1: the July twenty third incident, his placement on suicide Watch,
• 6:57
Speaker 1: his transfer to psychological observation, his later removal from heightened precautions,
• 7:03
Speaker 1: and the catastrophic failures proceeding his death. If Tartaglione repeatedly
• 7:08
Speaker 1: caught Epstein preparing to hang himself and repeatedly warn correctional personnel.
• 7:12
Speaker 1: Those events would have been among the most consequential facts
• 7:15
Speaker 1: in the entire investigation. They would demonstrate that staff members
• 7:19
Speaker 1: possess more direct warnings of imminent self harm than the
• 7:23
Speaker 1: public had previously been told. They would call into question
• 7:27
Speaker 1: every psychological conclusion that Epstein no longer required suicide watch
• 7:32
Speaker 1: or a constant cellmate. They would also identify additional staff interactions,
• 7:37
Speaker 1: potential witnesses, linens knots notes, discarded materials, and security failures
• 7:43
Speaker 1: requiring investigation. The fact that this supposed pattern is not
• 7:47
Speaker 1: clearly documented in the Inspector General's narrative creates a glaring
• 7:52
Speaker 1: evidentiary problem, and that problem cannot be raised simply by
• 7:56
Speaker 1: attaching the phrase new reporting to an old prisoner's believe story.
• 8:02
Speaker 1: The psychological reconstruction presents an equally serious obstacle to the
• 8:06
Speaker 1: new narrative. Mental health personnel interviewed Epstein, reviewed his conduct,
• 8:11
Speaker 1: evaluated his presentation, and made decisions that have since been
• 8:15
Speaker 1: heavily criticized. Their records described a man concerned with his
• 8:20
Speaker 1: legal defense, his living conditions, his sleep, his safety, and
• 8:24
Speaker 1: the consequences of the charges against them. They also documented
• 8:29
Speaker 1: the decision to remove them from suicide watch and later
• 8:32
Speaker 1: concluded that he did not present as actively suicidal. Those
• 8:38
Speaker 1: conclusions may have been mistaken, negligent, manipulated, or simply overwhelmed
• 8:43
Speaker 1: by the failures of the institution. What they cannot easily
• 8:47
Speaker 1: coexist with is an undocumented series of obvious hanging attempts
• 8:51
Speaker 1: occurring in the immediate presence of a cellmate who supposedly
• 8:55
Speaker 1: alerted staff. If those warnings reached officers, why were they
• 8:59
Speaker 1: not laid to psychology personnel and are recorded in Epstein's
• 9:03
Speaker 1: treatment history. If they had never reached psychology personnel, which
• 9:07
Speaker 1: guards received them and why did those guards remain silent
• 9:10
Speaker 1: during later investigations. If Tartaglioni did not identify these events
• 9:15
Speaker 1: to investigators when the chronology was being reconstructed, why not
• 9:20
Speaker 1: I think that the times those readers answers to those
• 9:23
Speaker 1: questions before presenting his claims as a missing key to
• 9:27
Speaker 1: Epstein's state of mind. Contemporaneous documentation matters precisely because memory
• 9:32
Speaker 1: changes and incentives grow over time. A warning recorded on
• 9:37
Speaker 1: the day it was made carries a different evidentiary weight
• 9:40
Speaker 1: from a dramatic recollection offered seven years later. A medical
• 9:45
Speaker 1: entry describing ligature marks, breathing difficulty, on consciousness, or resuscitation
• 9:50
Speaker 1: would provide physical support for the account. A housing unit
• 9:54
Speaker 1: log could establish which officers were present and whether Tartaglioni
• 9:58
Speaker 1: summoned anyone. Written. An incident report could reveal whether staff
• 10:02
Speaker 1: search the cell, confiscated ANWSE, moved EPSTEIN, disciplined them, or
• 10:07
Speaker 1: refer them for reevaluation. Surveillance footage might show officers responding
• 10:12
Speaker 1: to an emergency or removing material from the cell. Statements
• 10:16
Speaker 1: from other prisoners could independently establish whether Tartaglione discuss these
• 10:20
Speaker 1: alleged episodes at the time. Without such evidence, the account
• 10:25
Speaker 1: remains a claim, no matter how confidently it's printed. The
• 10:29
Speaker 1: standards applied to a contentious podcast, an anonymous internet post,
• 10:33
Speaker 1: or a defense filing should also apply to the country's
• 10:36
Speaker 1: most influential newspaper. Prestige cannot substitute for cooperation, and typography
• 10:43
Speaker 1: cannot transform recollection into fact. One of Tartaglioni's most dramatic
• 10:48
Speaker 1: reported claims is that he performed chess compressions on Epstein
• 10:52
Speaker 1: after finding them unconscious. That's not an incidental observation that
• 10:57
Speaker 1: might reasonably escape institutional notice. Resuscitating an unconscious federal detainee
• 11:02
Speaker 1: would ordinarily create a cascade of activity involving officers, medical personnel, supervisors, reports, examinations,
• 11:11
Speaker 1: and follow up monitoring. Chess compressions can cause injuries, and
• 11:15
Speaker 1: unconscious hanging victims would require urgent medical assessment even after
• 11:20
Speaker 1: regaining consciousness. The prison was not a private residence where
• 11:24
Speaker 1: two men could manage a medical crisis without anyone learning
• 11:27
Speaker 1: about it. Epstein was the most recognizable and closely watched
• 11:32
Speaker 1: federal detainee in the country. Any genuine episode in which
• 11:36
Speaker 1: its cellmate revived them after an attempt at hanging should
• 11:39
Speaker 1: have become a defining event in his custody record. If
• 11:43
Speaker 1: no medical response occurred, then Tartaglioni must explain why he
• 11:47
Speaker 1: supposedly revived Epstein but failed to ensure that he received
• 11:50
Speaker 1: immediate professional treatment. If a medical response did occur, the
• 11:54
Speaker 1: corresponding record should be identifiable until they were produced. The
• 11:59
Speaker 1: chess compression story should be recognized as an extraordinary allegation.
• 12:04
Speaker 1: Lacking the extraordinary documentation one would expect, and the supposed
• 12:09
Speaker 1: discovery of a handwritten note doesn't resolve the credibility problems.
• 12:13
Speaker 1: A document may be emotionally suggestive while still raising questions
• 12:17
Speaker 1: about authorship, date, context, custody, and interpretation. The note attributed
• 12:22
Speaker 1: to Epstein was not treated as an established part of
• 12:25
Speaker 1: the official investigations that followed his death. It surfaced publicly
• 12:30
Speaker 1: through litigation connected to Tartaglione, the very man whose interest
• 12:34
Speaker 1: it could advance by portraying Epstein as suicidal. A court's
• 12:39
Speaker 1: decision to unseal a document does not authenticate the document
• 12:43
Speaker 1: or certify the truth of the story surrounding its discovery.
• 12:47
Speaker 1: Judges frequently released material because the public has a right
• 12:50
Speaker 1: of access, not because the material has been proven. Genuine
• 12:54
Speaker 1: handwriting should be independently examined. The paper and ink should
• 12:58
Speaker 1: be evaluated where possible, and the document's path from Epstein's
• 13:02
Speaker 1: alleged possession to the courthouse should be reconstructed. Investigators should
• 13:07
Speaker 1: determine who first saw it, when it was copied, where
• 13:10
Speaker 1: the original was stored, and whether anyone altered or annotated it.
• 13:14
Speaker 1: Without that work, the note is not a magical credential
• 13:17
Speaker 1: validating every other claim that Tartaglioni now makes all right, folks,
• 13:23
Speaker 1: We're going to wrap up the first episode right here,
• 13:25
Speaker 1: and in the next episode, we're gonna pick up where
• 13:27
Speaker 1: we left off. All the information that goes with this
• 13:30
Speaker 1: episode can be found in the description box. What's up, everyone,
• 13:34
Speaker 1: and welcome to another episode of the Epstein Chronicles. In
• 13:38
Speaker 1: this episode, we're gonna pick up where we left off
• 13:41
Speaker 1: with my response to The New York Times and their
• 13:44
Speaker 1: article about Jeffrey Epstein and Nicholas Tartaglioni. The timing of
• 13:50
Speaker 1: Tartaglioni's disclosures also deserves scrutiny. These alleged attempts did not
• 13:55
Speaker 1: suddenly become relevant in twenty twenty six. They were relevant
• 13:58
Speaker 1: on July twenty third, twenty nineteen, when Epstein was found
• 14:02
Speaker 1: injured in the cell. They were relevant in August of
• 14:05
Speaker 1: twenty nineteen, when Epstein died and the entire federal government
• 14:09
Speaker 1: faced questions about how it happened. They were relevant during
• 14:13
Speaker 1: the FBI investigation, the Bureau of Prison Reviews, the prosecution
• 14:17
Speaker 1: of correctional officers, the psychological reconstruction, and the Inspector General's inquiry.
• 14:23
Speaker 1: They were relevant whenever Tartaglioni's attorneys sought to rebut suggestions
• 14:27
Speaker 1: that he had attacked Epstein. If he provided the full
• 14:31
Speaker 1: account contemporaneously, the Time should identify where it appears in
• 14:35
Speaker 1: the investigative record and explain why the government ignored it.
• 14:39
Speaker 1: If he did not provide it, the Times should ask
• 14:41
Speaker 1: why he withheld information bearing directly on a notorious death
• 14:45
Speaker 1: and his own possible involvement in an earlier incident. A
• 14:49
Speaker 1: delayed allegation does not become false merely because it's delayed.
• 14:52
Speaker 1: Delayed does, however, increase the need for corroboration, especially when
• 14:57
Speaker 1: the witnesses spent years understanding exactly which version of events
• 15:02
Speaker 1: best serves them now. There's also the important distinction between
• 15:06
Speaker 1: evidence that Epstein was distressed and evidence that he attempted
• 15:10
Speaker 1: suicide three times. Epstein had every reason to experience fear, humiliation, anger, sleeplessness,
• 15:17
Speaker 1: and despair. After his arrest, he had lost his freedom,
• 15:20
Speaker 1: his bell bid, much of his public protection, and his
• 15:24
Speaker 1: ability to control the proceedings as he had during the
• 15:26
Speaker 1: earlier Florida investigation. His legal future was grim, his reputation
• 15:32
Speaker 1: was destroyed, and federal prosecutors were examining the network surrounding them.
• 15:37
Speaker 1: None of that proves a particular physical act occurred on
• 15:41
Speaker 1: a particular day. A prisoner can be desperate without attempting suicide,
• 15:46
Speaker 1: just as a prisoner can conceal suicidal intentions while appearing
• 15:50
Speaker 1: focused on his defense. The legitimate evidence of Epstein's distress
• 15:55
Speaker 1: should not be used to smuggle unsupported events into the chronology.
• 16:00
Speaker 1: Should his eventual death be used backward to validate every
• 16:03
Speaker 1: earlier claim that betrays them as repeatedly suicidal. That is
• 16:08
Speaker 1: outcome driven reasoning, not independent verification. Once the conclusion is assumed,
• 16:14
Speaker 1: every ambiguous note, bedsheet, gesture, and recollection is re arranged
• 16:18
Speaker 1: to support it, and in my opinion, the Times appears
• 16:21
Speaker 1: eager to produce a clean psychological arc from arrest to
• 16:24
Speaker 1: despair to repeated attempts to death. Such a narrative is
• 16:29
Speaker 1: attractive because it converts a chaotic institutional scandal into an
• 16:33
Speaker 1: intelligible human story. Epstein loses Bell, recognizes that his old
• 16:38
Speaker 1: methods will not save them, becomes increasingly desperate, experiments with nooses,
• 16:44
Speaker 1: leaves behind a note, and finally succeeds when guards abandon
• 16:48
Speaker 1: their posts. That sequence may ultimately prove accurate. The duty
• 16:53
Speaker 1: of a journalist, however, is not to prefer the most
• 16:56
Speaker 1: narratively satisfying explanation. The duty is to determine which portions
• 17:01
Speaker 1: are documented, which are corroborated, which are disputed, and which
• 17:05
Speaker 1: rest on the word of interested participants. A seamless story
• 17:10
Speaker 1: can be more misleading than an openly incomplete one because
• 17:13
Speaker 1: it conceals the gaps between known facts. In the Epstein case,
• 17:17
Speaker 1: those gaps are not trivial. They include missing or unusable video,
• 17:22
Speaker 1: falsified records, sleeping guards, violated cell made policy, unperformed rounds,
• 17:27
Speaker 1: excess linens, confuse timelines, and years of contradictory official messaging.
• 17:33
Speaker 1: Tartaglioni's account should be measured against that disorder, not used
• 17:37
Speaker 1: as literary glue to make it disappear and listen. Skepticism
• 17:41
Speaker 1: toward Tartaglione does not require declaring that Epstein was murdered.
• 17:45
Speaker 1: That false choice has distorted discussion of the case from
• 17:48
Speaker 1: the beginning. One can accept that the medical examiner ruled
• 17:52
Speaker 1: the depth of suicide while still challenging weak evidence offered
• 17:55
Speaker 1: to reinforce the ruling. One can believe Epstein may have
• 17:58
Speaker 1: taken his own life while refusing to credit every new
• 18:01
Speaker 1: tale supplied by a convicted killer. One can also recognize
• 18:06
Speaker 1: severe institutional negligence without pretending that every unanswered question has
• 18:11
Speaker 1: been satisfactorily resolved. The burden belongs to those making the
• 18:15
Speaker 1: affirmative claim that three attempts occurred. Critics are not obligated
• 18:19
Speaker 1: to disprove events that were never properly documented in the
• 18:22
Speaker 1: first place. Demanding corroboration is not conspiracy theorizing. It's the
• 18:27
Speaker 1: same evidentiary discipline that should govern all reporting about prisons,
• 18:31
Speaker 1: deaths in custody, and witnesses seeking personal advantage. The Times
• 18:36
Speaker 1: weakens the legitimate case for suicide when it inflates a
• 18:39
Speaker 1: vulnerable source into an authoritative one. And Yo Tartaglione has
• 18:44
Speaker 1: an obvious narrative to cell, and it's a remarkably convenient
• 18:48
Speaker 1: narrative forum. In his version, Epstein was not attacked in
• 18:51
Speaker 1: the cell, but was repeatedly determined to harm himself. Tartaglioni
• 18:56
Speaker 1: was not the source of Epstein's fear, but the man
• 18:58
Speaker 1: trying to preserve his life. He didn't ignore warning signs,
• 19:02
Speaker 1: but reported them to guards who laughed them off. He
• 19:05
Speaker 1: didn't contribute to a mysterious injury, but performed life saving measures.
• 19:10
Speaker 1: He didn't possess a suspicious document, but safeguarded a revealing
• 19:13
Speaker 1: expression of Epstein's whoicidal thinking. Each component directs responsibility away
• 19:19
Speaker 1: from Tartaglioni and toward Epstein himself or the institution. The
• 19:23
Speaker 1: story simultaneously clears Tartaglioni, condemns the guards, explains the July
• 19:28
Speaker 1: twenty third injuries, supports the official cause of death, and
• 19:32
Speaker 1: elevates him into the role of indispensable witness. When a
• 19:36
Speaker 1: single account resolves every problem in favor of the person
• 19:39
Speaker 1: telling it, skepticism is not merely appropriate, that shit is mandatory.
• 19:45
Speaker 1: The newspaper's treatment of Tartaglioni also illustrates a broader problem
• 19:49
Speaker 1: in a Lee journalism. Reporters sometimes mistake proximity for credibility,
• 19:55
Speaker 1: especially when dealing with closed institutions where witnesses are scarce.
• 19:59
Speaker 1: A prisoner who shared Epstein's cell possesses cinematic detail, emotional immediacy,
• 20:04
Speaker 1: and the promise of revelations inaccessible to outsiders. Those qualities
• 20:10
Speaker 1: make excellent magazine material, they do not necessarily make reliable evidence.
• 20:15
Speaker 1: The more vivid the source, the easier it becomes for
• 20:18
Speaker 1: narrative momentum to overcome basic verification. Readers are invited into
• 20:23
Speaker 1: the cell shown the improvised noos, told about the warning,
• 20:27
Speaker 1: and positioned beside the supposed rescue. By the time the
• 20:31
Speaker 1: source's motives are acknowledged, the story has already performed its
• 20:34
Speaker 1: persuasive work. A responsible account would reverse that structure by
• 20:39
Speaker 1: beginning with the conflicts, missing records, disputed history, and unanswered questions.
• 20:45
Speaker 1: Tartaglione's description could then be presented for what it is,
• 20:49
Speaker 1: one interested man's version, not the definitive reconstruction of Epstein's
• 20:54
Speaker 1: final weeks, And of course, the media echo chamber compounds
• 20:58
Speaker 1: the original weaknesses. Once the time publishes a claim, other
• 21:01
Speaker 1: outlets summarize the times rather than independently corroborating Tartaglione. One
• 21:06
Speaker 1: publication calls the account of bombshell, another says new evidence
• 21:10
Speaker 1: has emerged, and another announces that a mystery has been solved.
• 21:14
Speaker 1: After enough repetition, the chain of attribution becomes difficult for
• 21:18
Speaker 1: casual readers to see. Ten headlines can create the illusion
• 21:21
Speaker 1: of ten sources when all ten ultimately lead back to
• 21:25
Speaker 1: the same prisoner. Secondary reports may add dramatic language, compress caveats,
• 21:31
Speaker 1: or mistakenly describe allegations as established findings. The result is
• 21:36
Speaker 1: informational laundering through repetition. Tartaglioni's credibility does not improve because
• 21:41
Speaker 1: dozens of websites reproduces claims, nor does the absence of
• 21:46
Speaker 1: official documentation become less important because an account trends across television, newspapers,
• 21:52
Speaker 1: and social media. Journalism should interrupt that process by tracing
• 21:56
Speaker 1: claims to their origin, not accelerated by treating institutional prestige
• 22:01
Speaker 1: as independent confirmation and look. Official reports are not sacred texts,
• 22:05
Speaker 1: and their omissions can sometimes reveal institutional self protection. The
• 22:10
Speaker 1: Bureau of Prisons had every reason to minimize failures that
• 22:13
Speaker 1: could expose personal or government liability. The Inspector General relied
• 22:18
Speaker 1: on records produced by an institution whose employees had falsified
• 22:22
Speaker 1: logs and neglected mandatory duties. Investigators can miss evidence, witnesses
• 22:27
Speaker 1: can lie, documents can disappear, and bureaucracies can protect themselves.
• 22:33
Speaker 1: For those reasons, it's conceivable that real suicide attempts or
• 22:36
Speaker 1: warnings were omitted from the record, but that possibility does
• 22:40
Speaker 1: not automatically validate Tartaglione. In fact, it creates an even
• 22:44
Speaker 1: greater need to identify the officers he supposedly warned and
• 22:48
Speaker 1: confront them with specific dates, statements, and physical evidence. It
• 22:53
Speaker 1: requires comparing his account with medical files, housing records, laundry inventories,
• 22:58
Speaker 1: investigative interview use, and statements from other inmates. The answer
• 23:03
Speaker 1: to an incomplete official record is not blind faith in
• 23:06
Speaker 1: an unofficial witness. The answer is further investigation, conducted with
• 23:11
Speaker 1: equal suspicion towards both the institution and the man accusing it.
• 23:17
Speaker 1: The account reportedly received some support from other prisoners who
• 23:20
Speaker 1: say they heard about warnings or observe concerning behavior. Such
• 23:24
Speaker 1: testimony should be examined, but it must be distinguished from
• 23:28
Speaker 1: direct corroboration. A prisoner who heard Tartaglioni describe an incident
• 23:32
Speaker 1: is not an independent witness to the incident itself. Repeating
• 23:35
Speaker 1: a story shortly after the event may help establish that
• 23:38
Speaker 1: the story is not entirely new, but it does not
• 23:41
Speaker 1: establish that the story is true. Investigators must determine whether
• 23:46
Speaker 1: each witness personally observed epstein, personally saw a noose, personally
• 23:50
Speaker 1: heard a warning. To staff or merely heard Tartaglione's version.
• 23:54
Speaker 1: They must also consider relationships, shared legal interests, prison alliances, inducements,
• 24:00
Speaker 1: and the circulation of rumors within the unit. Prisons are
• 24:04
Speaker 1: environments in which information is currency and stories can be
• 24:07
Speaker 1: adapted for protection, leverage, notoriety, or future litigation. That does
• 24:13
Speaker 1: not make prisoner or testimony worthless. It makes precise sourcing essential.
• 24:18
Speaker 1: The phrase other inmates corroborated the account should never be
• 24:22
Speaker 1: used unless readers are told exactly which portions were independently witnessed.
• 24:29
Speaker 1: The central contradiction remains painfully simple. If Epstein repeatedly attempted
• 24:34
Speaker 1: to hang himself, then the government's decision to remove them
• 24:37
Speaker 1: from suicide Watch becomes even more indefensible than previously understood.
• 24:42
Speaker 1: If Tartaglione repeatedly alerted officers, then identifiable federal employees possessed
• 24:48
Speaker 1: direct warnings that were excluded from or obscured within the
• 24:52
Speaker 1: official chronology. If an unconscious Epstein required resuscitation, then medical
• 24:57
Speaker 1: and correctional documentation should exist somewhere. If no documentation exists,
• 25:02
Speaker 1: the reason for its absence must be investigated before the
• 25:05
Speaker 1: event is declared factual. If the alleged attempts occurred without
• 25:10
Speaker 1: any staff response at all, then Tartaglioni's conduct and credibility
• 25:14
Speaker 1: also require examination. If he found nouses under a mattress,
• 25:19
Speaker 1: investigators should determine what happened to those materials and whether
• 25:22
Speaker 1: they were photographed or preserved. Every branch of his story
• 25:26
Speaker 1: produces testable questions. The time should pursue those questions, rather
• 25:31
Speaker 1: than treating the story itself as the answer. Until then,
• 25:35
Speaker 1: the new account creates more evidentiary problems than it solves.
• 25:39
Speaker 1: We all know that the Epstein's story has been plagued
• 25:41
Speaker 1: by confident conclusions announced before the supporting record was made available.
• 25:46
Speaker 1: The public was repeatedly told that systems worked when they
• 25:50
Speaker 1: plainly failed. It was told that procedures existed even as
• 25:54
Speaker 1: officers ignored them, cameras malfunctioned, logs were falsified, and a
• 25:58
Speaker 1: high risk prisoner was left alone. Officials promised transparency while
• 26:03
Speaker 1: crucial evidence remain sealed, redacted, missing, misunderstood, or at least
• 26:08
Speaker 1: years later. That history is precisely why media organizations should
• 26:13
Speaker 1: proceed cautiously when new information appears to reinforce official conclusions.
• 26:19
Speaker 1: The danger is not only that the new information may
• 26:21
Speaker 1: be false. The danger is that it may be used
• 26:24
Speaker 1: to retroactively make a broken process appear more coherent than
• 26:28
Speaker 1: it was. A neat tail of repeated suicide attempts can
• 26:31
Speaker 1: shift attention away from institutional contradictions and towards the inevitability
• 26:36
Speaker 1: of Epstein's death. It can suggest that he was so
• 26:39
Speaker 1: determined that no reasonable safeguard could have saved them. That
• 26:43
Speaker 1: implication would be especially convenient for the agencies and employees
• 26:47
Speaker 1: whose failures made his death possible. Tartaglione may possess authentic
• 26:52
Speaker 1: details while distorting their meaning, combining events, exaggerating his role,
• 26:57
Speaker 1: or omitting facts that damage them. Unreliable narrators are not
• 27:02
Speaker 1: necessarily wrong about everything. Their danger lies in the reader's
• 27:06
Speaker 1: inability to determine where observation ends and self serving reconstruction begins.
• 27:12
Speaker 1: Tartaglioni's account should therefore be broken into individual claims and
• 27:16
Speaker 1: tested separately. Did Epstein ask how to tie a noose?
• 27:20
Speaker 1: And did anyone else hear him? Did Tartaglione see a
• 27:22
Speaker 1: sheet attached to a grat and was that she'd ever recovered?
• 27:26
Speaker 1: Did he ever find Epstein unconscious? And who examine Epstein afterward?
• 27:30
Speaker 1: Did he report these matters to guards and which guards
• 27:32
Speaker 1: were they? Did he discover the note exactly when and
• 27:35
Speaker 1: where he claims? And can anyone establish an unbroken chain
• 27:39
Speaker 1: of custody until those questions are answered. Believing the entire
• 27:43
Speaker 1: performance because portions sound plausible would be an abandonment of
• 27:48
Speaker 1: journalistic judgment. That's why, in my opinion, the proper conclusion
• 27:53
Speaker 1: is neither that Tartaglioni is certainly lying, nor that The
• 27:56
Speaker 1: Times has uncovered the definitive truth. The proper conclusion is
• 28:01
Speaker 1: that the evidence presently described does not justify the certainty
• 28:05
Speaker 1: being attached to it. Tartaglioni's account may contain facts worthy
• 28:09
Speaker 1: of investigation, but it's not self authenticating. His criminal history,
• 28:14
Speaker 1: personal incentives disputed, a relationship with Epstein, delayed public disclosure,
• 28:19
Speaker 1: and the absence of clear contemporaneous records all weigh heavily
• 28:23
Speaker 1: against uncritical acceptance. The official reports may be incomplete, but
• 28:29
Speaker 1: their silence regarding repeated attempts cannot be waived away. The
• 28:33
Speaker 1: psychology records may be flawed, but their conclusions make Tartaglione's
• 28:37
Speaker 1: story more consequential and therefore more need of proof. The
• 28:42
Speaker 1: purported note may be genuine, but neither its release nor
• 28:46
Speaker 1: its emotional language establishes every event attributed to its supposed author.
• 28:51
Speaker 1: The Times had the opportunity to expose a major failure
• 28:55
Speaker 1: in the official investigation by document and warnings that authorities ignored.
• 28:59
Speaker 1: In Instead, it risks converting the unsupported recollections of a
• 29:03
Speaker 1: quadruple murderer into a polished narrative of historical fact in
• 29:08
Speaker 1: a case already buried beneath institutional failure, official secrecy, media credulity,
• 29:15
Speaker 1: and public distrust. The last thing anyone needs is another
• 29:20
Speaker 1: conclusion stronger than the evidence beneath it. All the information
• 29:24
Speaker 1: that goes with this episode can be found in the
• 29:26
Speaker 1: description box. What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode
• 29:30
Speaker 1: of the Epstein Chronicles. Whenever we're talking about Jeffrey Epstein
• 29:36
Speaker 1: and what happened to him in that jail, cell I
• 29:38
Speaker 1: always find it hilarious when people try to use Nicholas
• 29:41
Speaker 1: Tartaglioni as some kind of witness, as if that guy's reliable,
• 29:46
Speaker 1: as if I should listen to what he has to say.
• 29:48
Speaker 1: I'm not in the business of listening to a guy
• 29:52
Speaker 1: who has four bodies on his record, not exactly what
• 29:55
Speaker 1: I would call somebody that's the arbiter of truth, especially
• 30:00
Speaker 1: considering he's trying to get a pardon from Donald Trump.
• 30:04
Speaker 1: So why should I listen to Nicholas Tartaglioni and believe
• 30:08
Speaker 1: anything he has to say, Because as far as I
• 30:11
Speaker 1: can tell, Bro's been talking nothing but nonsense from the
• 30:14
Speaker 1: very beginning. So today we have an article from The
• 30:18
Speaker 1: Deli Beast and the headline Epstein mystery takes new twist
• 30:22
Speaker 1: after a bombshell revelations. This article was authored by Ewan Palmer.
• 30:28
Speaker 1: Fresh details have emerged that shed new light on whether
• 30:31
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide or was murdered in his
• 30:34
Speaker 1: New York jail cell. For years, conspiracy theories have swirled
• 30:39
Speaker 1: around the August twenty nineteen death of Epstein, a financier
• 30:43
Speaker 1: with a network of high profile friends, including President Donald Trump,
• 30:48
Speaker 1: while he was awaiting trial on federal child sex trafficking charges.
• 30:53
Speaker 1: A lengthy investigation by The New York Times magazine suggests
• 30:56
Speaker 1: that Epstein displayed a concerning pattern of behavior indicate he
• 31:00
Speaker 1: was determined to take his own life in the weeks
• 31:02
Speaker 1: before he was found dead. At the Metropolitan Correctional Center
• 31:06
Speaker 1: in Manhattan. This includes at least three previously on reported
• 31:11
Speaker 1: suicide attempts, the discovery of an apparent suicide note allegedly
• 31:15
Speaker 1: written by Epstein and found by one of his cell mates,
• 31:18
Speaker 1: and warnings from another inmate that convicted sex offender was
• 31:21
Speaker 1: not good to be let alone. So nothing tangible by
• 31:26
Speaker 1: the way, and basing it off of what Nicholas TARTAGLIONI
• 31:29
Speaker 1: had to say, again not exactly somebody that I find
• 31:33
Speaker 1: to be reliable. The report also dismisses suggestions that someone
• 31:38
Speaker 1: could have gained access to Epstein's cell and killed them,
• 31:41
Speaker 1: arguing that such a plot would have required multiple co conspirators.
• 31:45
Speaker 1: This would have included the complicity of at least two
• 31:47
Speaker 1: prison guards, detailed knowledge of the facility security systems and protocols,
• 31:52
Speaker 1: and awareness of which surveillance equipment was operational, the ability
• 31:58
Speaker 1: for somebody to have killed them. It would have taken
• 32:00
Speaker 1: a massive conspiracy that I can't imagine somebody not finding
• 32:04
Speaker 1: out about it at this point. Hugh Hurwitz, who headed
• 32:07
Speaker 1: the Bureau of Prisons at the time, told The Times,
• 32:10
Speaker 1: too many people would have been involved, Oh, I know,
• 32:12
Speaker 1: it was just systemic. Everything was a gigantic systemic breakdown,
• 32:16
Speaker 1: and it was all based on the fact that, you know,
• 32:18
Speaker 1: just errors were made, not by particular people, but by
• 32:22
Speaker 1: the system itself. Does that make sense to anybody out there?
• 32:26
Speaker 1: Did the system put Jeffrey Epstein in the wrong cell?
• 32:30
Speaker 1: Did the system not make the rounds? Did the system
• 32:33
Speaker 1: falsify reports? Did the system lie over and over? Oh? Wait,
• 32:40
Speaker 1: that was individuals, got it? So why aren't any of
• 32:43
Speaker 1: those people being held accountable? The investigations finding suggests Epstein
• 32:50
Speaker 1: exhibited a clear pattern of behavior in the weeks leading
• 32:53
Speaker 1: up to his death that indicated he wanted to end
• 32:55
Speaker 1: his life. Well, that's not what the psychological reports say,
• 32:59
Speaker 1: that's not what his own lawyers say. So again they're
• 33:03
Speaker 1: relying on Nicholas Tartaglioni. I refuse to do that. I'm sorry.
• 33:07
Speaker 1: I don't find him to be a good source. And
• 33:10
Speaker 1: you're only as good as your sources. Among the newly
• 33:14
Speaker 1: reported details was testimony from Nicholas Tartaglioni, a since convicted
• 33:18
Speaker 1: murderer who shared a cell with Epstein when he first
• 33:21
Speaker 1: arrived in July twenty nineteen. Tartaglioni said Epstein asked him,
• 33:26
Speaker 1: how do you make a noose? After his bell request
• 33:28
Speaker 1: was denied? Sure he did, Sure he did, Nicholas. I'm
• 33:33
Speaker 1: sure that's exactly what Jeffrey Epstein said to you, mister,
• 33:36
Speaker 1: a four time murderer. God, this whole entire like storyline
• 33:40
Speaker 1: they're creating around this dude is hilarious. So is this
• 33:44
Speaker 1: gonna be their go to? First? It's gonna be We're
• 33:47
Speaker 1: gonna rely on Glenn Maxwell. Now we're gonna rely on
• 33:50
Speaker 1: Nicholas Tartaglioni talk about character witnesses. Tartaglioni and another inmate
• 33:58
Speaker 1: also said Epstein appeared have tried to kill himself twice
• 34:01
Speaker 1: before his unsuccessful July twenty third attempt, which has previously
• 34:06
Speaker 1: been reported. Tartaglioni said he spotted Epstein trying to tie
• 34:10
Speaker 1: a bed sheet to the gate covering their cell, and
• 34:13
Speaker 1: also discovered a noose hidden beneath his mattress. Tartaglioni told
• 34:17
Speaker 1: The Times he warned guards about Epstein's behavior, but they
• 34:20
Speaker 1: laughed off his concerns. I don't believe that either. Sorry,
• 34:23
Speaker 1: where's the paper? Show convenient? Let's blame the guards and
• 34:27
Speaker 1: say that I told them, but they didn't act. Here's
• 34:31
Speaker 1: the next thing to look for. Look for Nicholas Tartaglioni
• 34:35
Speaker 1: to get the homie hook up like Elaine Maxwell, because
• 34:39
Speaker 1: you know that's coming. After Epstein was found dead on
• 34:43
Speaker 1: the floor of his cell in the early hours of
• 34:45
Speaker 1: July twenty third, following a suspected suicide attempt, Tartaglioni discovered
• 34:50
Speaker 1: what appeared to be a suicide note written by Epstein
• 34:53
Speaker 1: inside a book or Tartaglioni told him, you better write
• 34:57
Speaker 1: this note, and then Epstein kills himself, and Tartaglioni uses
• 35:01
Speaker 1: the note as evidence to back up what he's saying
• 35:04
Speaker 1: about Epstein being suicidal. Meanwhile, my position has always been
• 35:09
Speaker 1: if somebody didn't kill Jeffrey Epstein, then Tartaglioni was sent
• 35:13
Speaker 1: into that cell to tell him, look, you better do it,
• 35:16
Speaker 1: or we will. And I remain staunch in that belief
• 35:19
Speaker 1: until I see some evidence one way or the other.
• 35:22
Speaker 1: That's what I believe happened. And I based that off
• 35:24
Speaker 1: of all the people that knew him personally that said
• 35:26
Speaker 1: he wasn't suicidal, So I should believe Nicholas Tartaglioni and
• 35:31
Speaker 1: not them. Sorry, why would I do that? They investigated
• 35:37
Speaker 1: me for a month, found nothing. The note read, they
• 35:40
Speaker 1: investigated me for a month, found nothing. It's a treat
• 35:44
Speaker 1: to be able to choose one's time to say goodbye?
• 35:47
Speaker 1: What you want me to do? Bust out crying, no fun,
• 35:50
Speaker 1: not worth it. That doesn't sound like somebody suicidal to me.
• 35:54
Speaker 1: Sounds like somebody is a bit depressed, maybe bummed out
• 35:56
Speaker 1: that they're in jail, but suicidal from where I'm sitting.
• 36:01
Speaker 1: Another former cell mate, Ephrin Reyes described waking one night
• 36:05
Speaker 1: to find Epstein fiddling with a bed sheet being used
• 36:08
Speaker 1: as a makeshift clothesline in their cell. The incident occurred
• 36:11
Speaker 1: several days after Epstein's July twenty third suicide at tenth,
• 36:15
Speaker 1: when he was found with an orange fabric noose around
• 36:17
Speaker 1: his neck. Bro We not doing this, Reyes said he
• 36:20
Speaker 1: told Epstein before flushing the line down the toilet. On
• 36:24
Speaker 1: August ninth, one day before Epstein was found dead, Reyes
• 36:28
Speaker 1: was transferred to another detention facility and warned an MCC
• 36:32
Speaker 1: staff member to keep an eye on Epstein. Get him
• 36:35
Speaker 1: a good bunkie, Reyes recalled, saying he's not good to
• 36:37
Speaker 1: be alone. Epstein was ultimately not assigned a new cell mate,
• 36:41
Speaker 1: one of the many failures that occurred at MCC prior
• 36:44
Speaker 1: to Epstein taking his own life by design or was
• 36:48
Speaker 1: it just all the systemic error? That's the question. There's
• 36:52
Speaker 1: no doubt that policy wasn't followed, protocol was broken, and
• 36:56
Speaker 1: a lot of bullshit occurred. But the question is did
• 36:59
Speaker 1: it happen because of error's in judgment or people just
• 37:03
Speaker 1: being you know, negligent, or was the table set? That's
• 37:07
Speaker 1: the question. Elsewhere, the Times report reveals that a desperate
• 37:13
Speaker 1: Epstein attempted to provide prosecutors with damaging information about his
• 37:17
Speaker 1: former friend Trump and the hope of securing a more
• 37:20
Speaker 1: lenient sentence. Well, there's no doubt he was willing to
• 37:23
Speaker 1: turn over on anybody. And that's why Jeffrey Epstein's no
• 37:26
Speaker 1: longer with us. Let's be real, the intelligence community, they
• 37:30
Speaker 1: don't keep their assets around after they're burned. They get
• 37:33
Speaker 1: rid of them. And in my opinion, that's what happened here.
• 37:37
Speaker 1: Whether it was done by his own hand at their urging,
• 37:40
Speaker 1: or somebody else doing it, I don't think it really
• 37:42
Speaker 1: makes a difference. The end result is what the end
• 37:45
Speaker 1: result was, and if anybody thinks that he didn't have
• 37:48
Speaker 1: some dirt on Trump as far as financial dealings, they're crazy.
• 37:52
Speaker 1: He most certainly did. Now with that said, he didn't
• 37:55
Speaker 1: have anything to say about Trump partaking and abusing anybody,
• 38:00
Speaker 1: So take that for what you will. However, Epstein did
• 38:03
Speaker 1: not implicate the president in any of his sex crimes.
• 38:06
Speaker 1: The only material Epstein provided shot it down on a
• 38:09
Speaker 1: legal pad, included claims such as Trump is a total
• 38:12
Speaker 1: con artist, smoking mirrors, and never had any money. Well,
• 38:16
Speaker 1: that's the biggest sin. If you're in that part of
• 38:19
Speaker 1: the world not having any money. You can hurt people,
• 38:22
Speaker 1: you can abuse children, you can be a human trafficker,
• 38:25
Speaker 1: you can be whatever. But if you're broke, that's the
• 38:29
Speaker 1: biggest sin. And there's been a lot of talk that
• 38:31
Speaker 1: Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein were engaging in some kind
• 38:34
Speaker 1: of financial schemes together at one point. So where's the
• 38:38
Speaker 1: paperwork for that? Do we have any evidence of that? Because,
• 38:41
Speaker 1: as I've told you from the very beginning, if you
• 38:43
Speaker 1: want to get people like this, you want to hold
• 38:45
Speaker 1: them accountable. The best way to do it is following
• 38:48
Speaker 1: the money. Do you think that people achieve the status
• 38:51
Speaker 1: they achieve without cutting corners, without screwing people along the way,
• 38:56
Speaker 1: without getting in business with dirty scumbags. Well, especially somebody
• 39:00
Speaker 1: like Trump, a real estate developer from New York. There
• 39:04
Speaker 1: was a point in time where you couldn't lay a
• 39:06
Speaker 1: piece of concrete on the ground without the mafia getting
• 39:08
Speaker 1: their cut. So if you think that Donald Trump was
• 39:12
Speaker 1: doing business in New York and not doing business with
• 39:15
Speaker 1: the mafia, you're crazy. He was anybody in construction. And
• 39:19
Speaker 1: when I talk about following the financials, that's what I mean.
• 39:24
Speaker 1: If you follow those financials long enough, they're going to
• 39:27
Speaker 1: take you to a place where you're going to find
• 39:29
Speaker 1: some incriminating shit. You don't get this rich following the rules.
