- 0:00Speaker 1: I'll start Toyota Presents off the bench with Jacob Hester
- 0:03Speaker 1: and Matt Flynn say.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hester and Hester.
- 0:07Speaker 1: From carrying each other to and Natty to carrying each
- 0:11Speaker 1: other on the air.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Yeast Control the.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Live from the Mercedes Benz Baton Rouge studio.
- 0:21Speaker 2: It's off the bench, all right, Welcome back in.
- 0:31Speaker 3: It is our number three of ot being again our
- 0:34Speaker 3: coverage here of SEC Media Days, brought to you by
- 0:36Speaker 3: a Parish construction and roofing sign up for your chance
- 0:39Speaker 3: to win ten thousand dollars at Parish Built dot com
- 0:43Speaker 3: and also presented by rep and Relief Windows. All right,
- 0:48Speaker 3: Matthew right behind us. I think Commissioner Sanke just wrapped up.
- 0:53Speaker 3: And I always enjoy getting to hear Commissioner Sankie the
- 0:56Speaker 3: opening statement, like the opening address to Media Days. Commissioner
- 1:00Speaker 3: SANKI is somebody that I just have like the utmost
- 1:03Speaker 3: respect for and trust in that he is like leading
- 1:06Speaker 3: the league in the right direction. And I'll be honest
- 1:09Speaker 3: with you, like in all of college football, I don't
- 1:12Speaker 3: know if anybody that I would rather have leading the SEC.
- 1:16Speaker 3: And I know, you know, look, there's some things that
- 1:19Speaker 3: Sankie does that people from the outside that aren't in.
- 1:22Speaker 2: The SEC don't love.
- 1:23Speaker 3: But look, the school that we talk about, the school
- 1:25Speaker 3: that we root for, the school that we.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Played for, they're in the Southeastern Conference.
- 1:29Speaker 3: So I think Commissioner thank you is somebody that in
- 1:32Speaker 3: charge is going to do what's best for the SEC.
- 1:35Speaker 2: So obviously we're on air, so we didn't get.
- 1:37Speaker 3: A chance to listen to the audio yet have more
- 1:39Speaker 3: of a reaction to what he said on tomorrow's show.
- 1:42Speaker 3: But Commissioner Sanki man is somebody that I think is
- 1:45Speaker 3: exactly who you want charge.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Well, you know, outside the SEC, other parts of the country,
- 1:50Speaker 4: they they don't really like the SEC.
- 1:53Speaker 2: No, it's looking at you, Danny Kneal.
- 1:55Speaker 4: It's for good reason because the SEC is every year
- 2:00Speaker 4: top to bottom is the best. And so yeah, I
- 2:04Speaker 4: mean there's no better place to lead it than Greig Sanky.
- 2:07Speaker 4: So looking forward to hear you know what he said,
- 2:10Speaker 4: how he feels going into the season, the direction of course,
- 2:13Speaker 4: anything new on the horizon for the SEC, anything like that.
- 2:17Speaker 4: Looking forward to kind of breaking down and look, we
- 2:20Speaker 4: got this a beautiful.
- 2:21Speaker 5: Press conference room right behind us.
- 2:22Speaker 4: I'm kind of excited about hearing Brian Kelly talk of
- 2:27Speaker 4: course hearing those thoughts, but just hearing everybody, all the
- 2:30Speaker 4: coaches speak throughout the week, they're messaging, are we gonna
- 2:34Speaker 4: get some good juicy gossip from anybody? Is anybody gonna
- 2:37Speaker 4: slip up? What's gonna happen? So I've ever set on
- 2:40Speaker 4: that side of a press conference certainly, So I don't
- 2:43Speaker 4: know raising my hand, I get like, I get a paddle,
- 2:47Speaker 4: like like.
- 2:48Speaker 2: You're bidding on something.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Yeah, So look, you're gonna go down there and if
- 2:53Speaker 3: you've got a question, you're gonna raise your hand. They're
- 2:56Speaker 3: going to bring you a microphone. There's gonna be two
- 2:59Speaker 3: or three runners in the they're gonna bring you a microphone.
- 3:01Speaker 3: And then they're gonna be like all right, and you'll
- 3:03Speaker 3: you'll have the microphone like in hand while the next
- 3:05Speaker 3: question is being answered.
- 3:06Speaker 2: And I'm like, hey, you're up next.
- 3:07Speaker 3: And so then when they finished, you're like, all right,
- 3:09Speaker 3: you're up, and you're gonna say, hey, Matt Flynn one
- 3:11Speaker 3: O four five ESPN, baton rouge, and then you ask
- 3:14Speaker 3: your question w NXX. Yeah, that's just the call numbers there.
- 3:20Speaker 3: You don't you just say one O four five ESPN
- 3:21Speaker 3: baton rouge. You can say louisianasports dot net if you
- 3:25Speaker 3: want to, I mean either one, I'd say go with
- 3:27Speaker 3: you know, one O four five ESPN Baton Rouge. I
- 3:30Speaker 3: don't know if you've heard of us, the number seven
- 3:32Speaker 3: mid market morning radio show. It's not that big a deal,
- 3:35Speaker 3: although it is. And then you answer or I ask
- 3:37Speaker 3: your question to get an answer.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Yeah, excuse me, Matt Flynn one O four five ESPN
- 3:42Speaker 4: Baton Rouge. Uh why why isn't your team started drinking
- 3:47Speaker 4: about how yep?
- 3:49Speaker 3: Well, dude, come on, man of these teams? All right,
- 3:53Speaker 3: real quick, here we go. L shoot hydrated of course,
- 3:57Speaker 3: old miss hydrated yes, South Carolina no, Vanderbilt no, Auburn yes,
- 4:05Speaker 3: Georgia yes, Tennessee yes, Texas no. Okay, Alabama yes, Florida no.
- 4:12Speaker 5: Never.
- 4:13Speaker 2: What are we doing here?
- 4:13Speaker 3: Mississippi State yes, Oklahoma, Semi, Arkansas no so five, Kentucky.
- 4:25Speaker 5: No.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Six, Missouri yes if they if they only heard you say,
- 4:30Speaker 3: they're not in the SEC Texas A and M yes, okay,
- 4:33Speaker 3: so only six? Okay, so you've got ten of the sixteen.
- 4:37Speaker 3: I got six questions, so okay, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Texas, Florida, Arkansas,
- 4:44Speaker 3: and Kentucky. Yeah all right, yeah, Kentucky has dabbled.
- 4:49Speaker 2: I feel like, oh, you didn't catch your attention first time.
- 4:54Speaker 2: You do, get that one shot?
- 4:55Speaker 5: Try it? Yeah, because I told you that. It's like
- 4:57Speaker 5: it's a different department.
- 4:58Speaker 4: There's an Olympic at football and trying to That's why
- 5:00Speaker 4: I couldn't remember, right, But.
- 5:02Speaker 5: Anyway, yep, but what we're doing.
- 5:04Speaker 4: So I got six questions I can ask the six teams,
- 5:07Speaker 4: like what's up?
- 5:08Speaker 5: Yeah, well, trying to lose.
- 5:11Speaker 2: You don't want to be hydrated.
- 5:12Speaker 5: You don't care about your team.
- 5:13Speaker 3: So the fourth quarter coach that you preach all the time,
- 5:16Speaker 3: you really don't care about it because you're not hydrated.
- 5:20Speaker 4: We got to ask the tough questions around here. Do
- 5:22Speaker 4: coaches really care about their players? Six six coaches, I
- 5:26Speaker 4: got a question six of them.
- 5:29Speaker 2: I got the question, Oh, this is a big win
- 5:31Speaker 2: for you.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I don't know if this is true, but Jordan Allen
- 5:36Speaker 3: inside of the chat says, I.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Don't know if Flynn knows.
- 5:38Speaker 3: But in twenty nineteen, the Hall of Fame had Flynn's
- 5:41Speaker 3: jersey in its own display box.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Whoa, whoa, that is true.
- 5:47Speaker 3: That is a big win for you can we uh,
- 5:49Speaker 3: can we bury dog a picture of this?
- 5:51Speaker 5: Ye? Why wouldn't anybody let me know?
- 5:53Speaker 2: I feel like, would you have would you have known
- 5:56Speaker 2: what they're doing?
- 5:56Speaker 4: No, but I would have liked you would think if
- 5:59Speaker 4: that actually happened, like something would have come across the
- 6:02Speaker 4: socials that I would have seen. Yeah, so I don't
- 6:06Speaker 4: know if I believe it, somebody proved me wrong.
- 6:09Speaker 5: That would be sweet, though. Why wouldn't that be a permanent.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Fixture just to be inside the chat?
- 6:14Speaker 3: Not half the league using liquid v We don't say
- 6:16Speaker 3: the full name here.
- 6:17Speaker 2: That's not half. I don't even know if they use that.
- 6:19Speaker 3: There's only six teams out of the sixteen that don't
- 6:22Speaker 3: use it, so ten are hydrated through my high Florida
- 6:25Speaker 3: Florida doesn't count either.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Yeah, they got Gatorie Like that doesn't even count.
- 6:29Speaker 3: So really it's it's ten or fifteen and Matt would
- 6:33Speaker 3: never allow them to be hydrated, right yeah, uh huh
- 6:38Speaker 3: huh for sure. Well, I just I just say that
- 6:41Speaker 3: based off you, like in the way that you talk
- 6:44Speaker 3: about Florida when we're off the air.
- 6:46Speaker 4: I'd like to I like to act like a tough
- 6:51Speaker 4: guy when it comes to that. But if they called,
- 6:52Speaker 4: you know, we'd probably talk. We probably have. I'd probably
- 6:54Speaker 4: get some.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Samples, a couple of pallets of my high you'd say, you, yeah, like.
- 6:59Speaker 5: A tough guy.
- 7:00Speaker 4: I you know, here with the microphone talking about it.
- 7:03Speaker 5: But you know business is business.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Gonna sell me at you would not be mad at
- 7:09Speaker 2: you again.
- 7:10Speaker 3: LSU, Old Miss, South Carolina and Vanderbilt all here today.
- 7:14Speaker 3: On day number two, it's Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Day number three Alabama, Florida, Mississippi State and Oklahoma. And
- 7:22Speaker 3: then day four to finish it off. Surprise it didn't
- 7:26Speaker 3: at least one more heavy hitter in there. But it's Arkansas, Kentucky, Missouri,
- 7:30Speaker 3: and Texas, A and M today, like right out of
- 7:32Speaker 3: the gates.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Feels like a pretty big thing.
- 7:34Speaker 3: Yeah, with LSU National Championship aspirations, Old Miss playoff aspirations,
- 7:39Speaker 3: South Carolina the same, and then Vanderbilt like you were
- 7:42Speaker 3: talking about earlier, like the league's better when Vanderbilt is relevant,
- 7:45Speaker 3: and they are, they're relevant. That like when you beat Alabama,
- 7:48Speaker 3: when you take Texas to the very end, you take
- 7:51Speaker 3: them to the wire, you beat a good Georgia Tech
- 7:53Speaker 3: team in a ballgame, a Georgia Tech team that took
- 7:56Speaker 3: Georgia the game before that to eight overtimes, and then
- 7:59Speaker 3: you actually handle that Georgia Tech team who had all
- 8:02Speaker 3: their players, Haynes King, all the Jamis and Joe's pretty
- 8:05Speaker 3: much were playing in that game. Like when Vanderbilt is
- 8:08Speaker 3: this relevant? Like today, I think is the biggest day.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Because I mean you've got star power everywhere.
- 8:15Speaker 5: Yeah, this is.
- 8:16Speaker 4: I mean you got yeah, you got two guys that
- 8:20Speaker 4: are on the top problem and most lists that you
- 8:23Speaker 4: see at least in the top five for the Heisman
- 8:26Speaker 4: preseason Heisman list and Leonora Sellers and Garrettsmeyer. Of course
- 8:29Speaker 4: we'll see Arch tomorrow. Be exciting for that. But yeah,
- 8:33Speaker 4: big day. LSU just leading the way, leading the pack
- 8:36Speaker 4: here at SEC media to day as well as they
- 8:39Speaker 4: will be leading the way in the SEC this season.
- 8:43Speaker 4: So yeah, we're starting it out hot right now a lot.
- 8:46Speaker 4: I can't wait to hear what Lane Kiffin says. That's
- 8:49Speaker 4: always just must see TV. So hopefully we get some
- 8:52Speaker 4: stuff out of these guys. But yeah, like like you said,
- 8:56Speaker 4: Clark Lee has been kind of stalking around here all morning.
- 8:59Speaker 4: I know you're a big, huge fan of Clark Lee
- 9:02Speaker 4: what he's done at Vanderbilt. Hopefully they can keep it up.
- 9:05Speaker 4: And you brought up them handling Georgia Tech last year.
- 9:07Speaker 4: I mean we are both both you and I are
- 9:09Speaker 4: pretty high on Georgia Tech going to this season. I
- 9:11Speaker 4: think they could be a dark horse potentially for a
- 9:16Speaker 4: playoff run, an outside playoff run. So we're big fans
- 9:19Speaker 4: of them. Haines King what they've done over there. So
- 9:21Speaker 4: to be able to put the feathers in their cap
- 9:24Speaker 4: Vanderbilt put the feathers in their cap last year, really
- 9:27Speaker 4: gives them some solid ground going forward, just you know,
- 9:29Speaker 4: not only in confidence level, but on.
- 9:31Speaker 5: The recruiting trail.
- 9:31Speaker 4: So excited to see and and sec where everybody's better.
- 9:36Speaker 4: It's a better league everybody. Every team should be more excited.
- 9:40Speaker 4: The better everybody can be. And so when you got Vanderbilt,
- 9:43Speaker 4: who has been the punching bag for so long, you know,
- 9:46Speaker 4: every now and then they got a guy that comes
- 9:48Speaker 4: in and they'll have a pretty decent season. But when
- 9:50Speaker 4: you have them coming into a season where it's a game,
- 9:53Speaker 4: you got a circle and you got to be careful
- 9:55Speaker 4: of and be like, all right, this is this is
- 9:57Speaker 4: not an automatic victory. This is you know, these guys
- 10:01Speaker 4: have the feathers in their cap and they can beat us.
- 10:03Speaker 4: And they got a quarterback and they got a good
- 10:04Speaker 4: head coach and they're going in the right direction that
- 10:06Speaker 4: makes the league better. And so that's what we're excited about.
- 10:09Speaker 4: We want good games every single week. I don't know
- 10:12Speaker 4: if everybody does, but we do.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I do.
- 10:15Speaker 5: We do because we're meat heads.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I enjoy it. And like, you're going to play
- 10:18Speaker 3: all three teams that are here today. You're gonna play
- 10:21Speaker 3: Old Miss at in Oxford, You're gonna play South Carolina
- 10:26Speaker 3: at home, You're gonna play Vanderbilt in Nashville.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Those are gonna be you know, difficult games.
- 10:30Speaker 3: And again, like the theme for me this week is
- 10:34Speaker 3: the teams that are typically over the last couple of
- 10:36Speaker 3: years at the top. So we look, I mean almost
- 10:39Speaker 3: won a lot of games, right, they hadn't gotten there
- 10:40Speaker 3: and else she's still had success against them, but they've
- 10:43Speaker 3: won a lot of games. Okay, So you take a
- 10:45Speaker 3: look at Old Miss, you look at Georgia. Tennessee makes
- 10:48Speaker 3: a college football playoff. Last year, Texas makes the playoff
- 10:51Speaker 3: the last two years Alabama's Alabama UH look, you could
- 10:56Speaker 3: even throw you know, some other schools in there, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 3: maybe maybe Texas, A and M. But you take a
- 11:02Speaker 3: look at some of the top ones, like certainly the Georgia's,
- 11:04Speaker 3: the Alabama's and those Titan Texas.
- 11:08Speaker 2: They don't know what they are quarterback now.
- 11:11Speaker 3: They think they have an idea Archie many think they
- 11:13Speaker 3: have an idea, but he's played three games. Alabama doesn't
- 11:16Speaker 3: really know what ty Simpson's going to be able to
- 11:17Speaker 3: get it. He's not here, which I think is big.
- 11:19Speaker 3: George has only seen gunnerstock in half of an SEC
- 11:22Speaker 3: championship game and then a bowl game against another Dame.
- 11:25Speaker 4: He did some nice things, but he looked like a
- 11:28Speaker 4: young quarterback that just got thrown in there exactly.
- 11:30Speaker 5: So they were lied.
- 11:31Speaker 4: They were able to throw the change up up and
- 11:33Speaker 4: use his little bit different skill set to create some
- 11:37Speaker 4: big plays, but we hadn't seen him have to go
- 11:39Speaker 4: and dice somebody up and game plan have some people
- 11:43Speaker 4: game plan on him for very many games. So it's
- 11:45Speaker 4: a it's a huge question mark for them from the
- 11:48Speaker 4: perennial powerhouse that they are to go in there with
- 11:51Speaker 4: a question mark at quarterback is certainly a little bit
- 11:55Speaker 4: different for them.
- 11:56Speaker 3: All right, we will step away, going to continue our
- 11:59Speaker 3: coverage here Boots on the Ground, SEC Media Days, College
- 12:03Speaker 3: Football Hall of.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Fame, and we'll do it when we'll come back here
- 12:05Speaker 2: on one O four to five ESPN. Benterers off the bench, all.

- 13:53Speaker 2: Here live from the College Football Hall of Fame. Very
- 13:56Speaker 2: excited for our next guest.
- 13:58Speaker 3: It is the new Senior Executive Director, Drew Fabianich, who
- 14:02Speaker 3: joins us. Now, Drew, we are glad to have you
- 14:04Speaker 3: on the show. Glad to have you a part of
- 14:06Speaker 3: the Senior Ball. It is an event that we go
- 14:09Speaker 3: to here on this show every single year. In fact,
- 14:11Speaker 3: I do two shows, one for each company I worked
- 14:14Speaker 3: for at the Senior Ball. So it's one of our
- 14:16Speaker 3: favorite events to go to. Excited to have you involved
- 14:18Speaker 3: in the game.
- 14:19Speaker 6: Hey, thrilled to death to be part of it. Thrill
- 14:20Speaker 6: to death be part of you guys. I mean too,
- 14:22Speaker 6: have I met you met Matt last night? We actually
- 14:25Speaker 6: talked years ago when he was coming out. I mean
- 14:28Speaker 6: you wouldn't remember because you talked flipping probably three hundred scouts,
- 14:31Speaker 6: you know, during the time when you were getting you know,
- 14:33Speaker 6: coming out, and then met you two down to the
- 14:35Speaker 6: Senior Bowl years back.
- 14:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:37Speaker 6: So yeah, this is good for me too. I'm seeing
- 14:39Speaker 6: a lot of familiar faces. I just saw Mitch Bardhardt,
- 14:42Speaker 6: I mean the guys, he's been radio on TV for
- 14:45Speaker 6: sixty years almost.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean so college football told you college football,
- 14:50Speaker 2: I know, yeah, well, Drew. So one of the things
- 14:54Speaker 2: that that I've talked about with the Senior.
- 14:56Speaker 3: Ball so many times when I've you know, just had
- 14:59Speaker 3: the experience in going there, was what it did for
- 15:01Speaker 3: me in my career. So for me, I was going
- 15:04Speaker 3: from playing tailback at LSU to having to show that
- 15:07Speaker 3: I could play a different position in the NFL. Like
- 15:10Speaker 3: I knew that I could have a chance to do
- 15:12Speaker 3: some tailback stuff, but I knew my life was going
- 15:14Speaker 3: to be as a fullback, and the only way that
- 15:17Speaker 3: I had the opportunity to prove that was to go
- 15:19Speaker 3: down to Mobile and compete and switch positions and get
- 15:22Speaker 3: into three point stance once again. And so like, the
- 15:24Speaker 3: opportunity that game gave me got me drafted in the
- 15:27Speaker 3: third round because they had to see it. And so like,
- 15:30Speaker 3: that's one of the things I love about the Senior Bowl.
- 15:32Speaker 3: It's just competition and competing and the best of the best,
- 15:35Speaker 3: and you get an opportunity to go show, like in pads,
- 15:39Speaker 3: not the underwear, in pads, what you can do on
- 15:42Speaker 3: a football field.
- 15:43Speaker 6: Well, the keyword you said, best against the best. Yeah,
- 15:45Speaker 6: And I think that really really important, especially when you're
- 15:48Speaker 6: you know, working in personnel with the NFL. You know,
- 15:50Speaker 6: I go back all the way to Parcels when he
- 15:52Speaker 6: came in, you know, be like, Okay, we're watching this
- 15:54Speaker 6: left tackle. He go, Hey, who's the best guy he
- 15:57Speaker 6: lined up against? Well, some guys don't really play against
- 16:00Speaker 6: anybody real until they go down to the Senior Bowl.
- 16:03Speaker 6: I mean, just depending on where you're going, where you've been,
- 16:06Speaker 6: I mean, you know, God bless one double A what
- 16:08Speaker 6: is it? FCS? Now, you know, it's hard for those
- 16:12Speaker 6: guys to actually show that they can compete at that
- 16:14Speaker 6: level unless they come down to the Senior Bowl. And
- 16:16Speaker 6: it is the first piece of the draft process. And
- 16:20Speaker 6: like you said, it's not the underwear Olympics, it's it's
- 16:23Speaker 6: real ball, you know, And I think that's the most
- 16:25Speaker 6: important part playing in the game. And we kind of
- 16:29Speaker 6: talked about this. I think the last time one on
- 16:31Speaker 6: one pass rush, defensive drill, ninety percent of the time,
- 16:34Speaker 6: defense should win, you know, one on one receivers you
- 16:36Speaker 6: know DB's receiver, I would win ninety percent of the time, right, yep,
- 16:40Speaker 6: it's almost on air. I mean really, so let's get
- 16:44Speaker 6: into a game and then show that you can play.
- 16:46Speaker 6: I mean, you got your teammate, Philip Rivers didn't have
- 16:49Speaker 6: a great week. He was the MVP of the Senior Bowl.
- 16:52Speaker 6: I mean that helped him propel his career. You did too,
- 16:56Speaker 6: I mean because again, hey, what's he playing. You know,
- 16:58Speaker 6: he's not an eyeback go be, you know, is he
- 17:01Speaker 6: really going to be a fullback? It's like Michael Robinson,
- 17:04Speaker 6: same thing.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Right, you know, he played what quarterbacks quarterbacks.
- 17:07Speaker 6: Then yeah, so I think you're correct. And again I
- 17:11Speaker 6: try to voice this to agents. I try to voice
- 17:13Speaker 6: this to players that you know, playing against the best
- 17:18Speaker 6: is huge for your evaluation process. Huge.
- 17:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:21Speaker 6: And the kid last year, the Zabel kid from North
- 17:23Speaker 6: Dakota State had a great week yep, right, and league
- 17:27Speaker 6: talk and we talked to all those guys, you know,
- 17:30Speaker 6: throughout the year he was like a high third, right,
- 17:33Speaker 6: he goes eighteen. Well, that ended up being twelve point
- 17:37Speaker 6: seven million dollars difference in a four year contract. So
- 17:40Speaker 6: tell me it wasn't worth his time to come down
- 17:42Speaker 6: and finish the practices and play in the game. I'm like,
- 17:45Speaker 6: let's get real. He yeah, I mean twelve point seven Yeah.
- 17:49Speaker 5: That's that's a why.
- 17:50Speaker 4: I mean, if that's not a recruiting message video for
- 17:54Speaker 4: why people should go to the senior ball, then you know,
- 17:57Speaker 4: I don't know what is. And so you talked about
- 17:59Speaker 4: you bring up the best of the best, and so
- 18:01Speaker 4: this is going to be your first year there. But
- 18:04Speaker 4: somebody with the experience in scouting and picking the guys,
- 18:07Speaker 4: finding guys at different size school, how what is your
- 18:11Speaker 4: process of finding the best of the best and narrowing
- 18:15Speaker 4: it down, and then how as the season progresses, just
- 18:18Speaker 4: how does that list start dwindling down where you choose
- 18:21Speaker 4: your guys?
- 18:22Speaker 6: Well, you know, Mat, it's no different than how you
- 18:23Speaker 6: break it down when you're going out in the NFL.
- 18:25Speaker 6: I mean you start with a you know, a database
- 18:28Speaker 6: of maybe twenty two hundred players and just start whittling
- 18:32Speaker 6: it down saying is he good enough, is he going
- 18:34Speaker 6: to be draftable? Does he have a spot? Is he
- 18:36Speaker 6: high enough in the stack to actually bring him in?
- 18:39Speaker 6: And then you have to look at, Hey, some of
- 18:41Speaker 6: those guys may not take the invite. So instead of
- 18:44Speaker 6: having you know, twelve receivers that you're looking at, you
- 18:47Speaker 6: may have eighteen. And again that process we kind of
- 18:50Speaker 6: talked about a little bit last night. We're not going
- 18:53Speaker 6: to put out a watch list of eight hundred and
- 18:55Speaker 6: nine hundred players. We're not because again, feel like that
- 19:00Speaker 6: this is a prestigious, premier All Star game, you know,
- 19:04Speaker 6: in the entire country. Well let's treat it that way. Yeah,
- 19:07Speaker 6: and let's try to take the best players that we
- 19:10Speaker 6: can possibly find. And again we have scouting assistants. I
- 19:13Speaker 6: mean I look at tape, you know, Jack Gilmour watches tape.
- 19:16Speaker 6: I mean we kind of you know, go through that
- 19:18Speaker 6: throughout the year. As soon as that first board's done,
- 19:21Speaker 6: you know, as soon as that game's over with, we're
- 19:23Speaker 6: starting on the next one. Yeah, And we're already starting
- 19:25Speaker 6: to build it. And when I got there, i'd say
- 19:29Speaker 6: May fifteenth, threat around in there, I'll bet you was
- 19:32Speaker 6: halfway built already. And now we just completed it last week.
- 19:37Speaker 6: And now we're still talking about some of the juniors
- 19:39Speaker 6: that we may put on there that are kind of
- 19:41Speaker 6: gut cinches that they are going to come out. And
- 19:44Speaker 6: I don't want to offend coaches, but you know, I
- 19:47Speaker 6: think they know it too, because they're bringing some juniors
- 19:49Speaker 6: to this also.
- 19:50Speaker 5: You know.
- 19:51Speaker 6: So I don't know if I answered every bit of
- 19:54Speaker 6: that question, Matt, but I tried to kind of hit
- 19:56Speaker 6: on all points.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Also, a new title sponsor Senior Bowl, and pretty far
- 20:03Speaker 3: we're big car guy.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Our listeners know.
- 20:06Speaker 3: So our show is off the bench and we create
- 20:08Speaker 3: we have like a card deal that we're doing off
- 20:10Speaker 3: the break. I mean we are like in it, uh
- 20:13Speaker 3: were we might dabble in in card games.
- 20:15Speaker 2: We'll just have that.
- 20:16Speaker 4: So we were excited when we saw the new sponsorships
- 20:18Speaker 4: kind of tell us how did that sponsorship develop and
- 20:21Speaker 4: what kind of benefits you see?
- 20:22Speaker 6: Well, you know, they were already a practice you know
- 20:25Speaker 6: sponsor over the last I think three years. And the
- 20:28Speaker 6: one piece about you know that is I think they
- 20:31Speaker 6: started to see value in they had a Panini night
- 20:34Speaker 6: and those guys went absolutely nuts when they got their
- 20:37Speaker 6: trading card and I was like wow, I said, this
- 20:40Speaker 6: is awesome. And then they got so much exposure just
- 20:43Speaker 6: on social for that.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:45Speaker 6: Plus you know, the practice sponsorships of even like the dummies,
- 20:48Speaker 6: I mean, you know they you know, they had their
- 20:50Speaker 6: you know, branding on there, you know. But I think
- 20:53Speaker 6: most of it came from how they saw that the
- 20:55Speaker 6: value had increased so much just with that little piece. Now,
- 20:59Speaker 6: the title sponsors they actually sought and it wasn't like
- 21:03Speaker 6: we said, Okay, well you know this doesn't really fit. Hell,
- 21:07Speaker 6: yes it fits because it's sports related. It's it's personal
- 21:10Speaker 6: to people.
- 21:11Speaker 5: Now.
- 21:11Speaker 6: I mean, for God's sakes, I would love to have
- 21:13Speaker 6: a trading card, you know when I was playing. I
- 21:15Speaker 6: mean now these guys, I mean are going to be
- 21:18Speaker 6: able to expose their brand even farther with Panini. And
- 21:22Speaker 6: I think Panini's going to actually push for all of
- 21:24Speaker 6: their clients to be playing in the game to increase
- 21:27Speaker 6: their brand too. So I think it's a win win
- 21:30Speaker 6: situation for everybody, and I think that we can make
- 21:32Speaker 6: it a benefit for everybody. And I think it's a
- 21:35Speaker 6: tool because again, what are they about now? They're about
- 21:38Speaker 6: the brand, So let's show them another way to expose
- 21:42Speaker 6: their brand.
- 21:43Speaker 3: One of the other cool things about the Senior Bowl
- 21:45Speaker 3: and Matt you'll get to experience this this year. When
- 21:49Speaker 3: you go to Mobile in that time, you know you're
- 21:52Speaker 3: there for that, you know you're there for the Senior Ball,
- 21:55Speaker 3: and the city embraces everybody that's in there.
- 21:58Speaker 5: Right.
- 21:58Speaker 3: I hate going to things and it's like, oh, there
- 22:00Speaker 3: happens to be an event in a city and nobody
- 22:03Speaker 3: really knows that you're there for that.
- 22:04Speaker 2: But when you go to Mobile in that.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Time and the city does a nice job and the
- 22:08Speaker 3: people of the city like they embrace everybody, welcome everybody
- 22:12Speaker 3: and makes it feel like home because we're gone, we're
- 22:14Speaker 3: there for a week, right, and they make it feel
- 22:15Speaker 3: like home. And it's one of the charms I think
- 22:18Speaker 3: of the Senior Bowl.
- 22:19Speaker 6: You know, I don't even know if you guys know this,
- 22:21Speaker 6: I didn't before I came. You know, one down there
- 22:24Speaker 6: there's over three hundred right paid volunteers, they paid to
- 22:29Speaker 6: be volunteers.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Wow.
- 22:30Speaker 6: Yes, their committee and there's committees set up in like
- 22:36Speaker 6: sixteen different areas, whether it's security, whether it's the mascot piece,
- 22:39Speaker 6: the fan fest, and they, like you said, they take
- 22:42Speaker 6: great pride in it.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:44Speaker 6: I mean there's you know, the parade on Friday, there's
- 22:46Speaker 6: a concert on you know Friday night. I mean, there's
- 22:49Speaker 6: a Panini night on you know Wednesday, I mean Thursday.
- 22:52Speaker 6: We've got you know, the top golf deal with all
- 22:54Speaker 6: the awards and everything else. But you know, fast forward
- 22:58Speaker 6: like what you guys are talking about. Heck, in May,
- 23:00Speaker 6: we had the Hall of Fame, right, the Hall of
- 23:03Speaker 6: Fame induction. We had the charity golf tournament the next day.
- 23:06Speaker 6: I mean, we had the draft party. In April, you know,
- 23:09Speaker 6: we have we had a leadership you know piece with
- 23:12Speaker 6: the with m PAP and it was all the mobile
- 23:15Speaker 6: in Baldwin County, you know, high school kids. All the
- 23:18Speaker 6: coaches got to send one of their players to a
- 23:21Speaker 6: leadership conference. And then then we got Turkey Bowl. We
- 23:24Speaker 6: got flag football. I mean, the community takes this or
- 23:27Speaker 6: runs with him. And here's the other thing. And I'll
- 23:29Speaker 6: tell you guys this because I don't know how many
- 23:31Speaker 6: other quote All Star games you've seen, but this is
- 23:35Speaker 6: the only game that sells out.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's not even close.
- 23:39Speaker 6: You watch any of the other All Star games, there's
- 23:41Speaker 6: nobody in the stands, right, you know. So that ought
- 23:43Speaker 6: to tell you how important it is to these people,
- 23:46Speaker 6: and that they showed me how important it was because
- 23:48Speaker 6: of these other pieces that they got involved in civically.
- 23:51Speaker 4: So yeah, and speaking with you last night, I was
- 23:53Speaker 4: I was surprised to just hear you talk about full
- 23:56Speaker 4: time move to mobile and just the twelve months out
- 23:59Speaker 4: of the year. Yeah, there is work to be done
- 24:02Speaker 4: and things to be done just throughout the community. Different
- 24:04Speaker 4: sponsorship than fundraisers that y'all are doing throughout the year
- 24:08Speaker 4: for the Senior Ball. But when you look at just
- 24:12Speaker 4: the game in the week itself, tell me something with
- 24:15Speaker 4: your first year, what are your goals on, what's it
- 24:18Speaker 4: gonna look, what's gonna be different about the game? The
- 24:20Speaker 4: practice is everything leading up that you're going to be implementing.
- 24:24Speaker 6: Yeah, we kind of visited about this a little bit.
- 24:26Speaker 6: I'll give everybody the background of it. Well, the Senior
- 24:29Speaker 6: Bowl used to be the unofficial NFL coaches kind of convention. Yeah,
- 24:34Speaker 6: because they don't have any place to network. Well, once
- 24:38Speaker 6: they started doing formal interviews at night, Well those coaches says, nah,
- 24:44Speaker 6: I really don't want to go, and all I get
- 24:47Speaker 6: to do is watch them practice and then have to
- 24:48Speaker 6: interview all night. And I never get to network with
- 24:50Speaker 6: any of my guys, never get to see anybody, never
- 24:52Speaker 6: try to get a better job. Well, you know that's important, right, Well,
- 24:57Speaker 6: it's also important. The biggest thing to me was taking
- 25:00Speaker 6: that off the players and put it in the morning
- 25:03Speaker 6: to where they have some time in the evening because
- 25:06Speaker 6: I don't know about them. But when I went seven
- 25:08Speaker 6: o'clock to almost ten o'clock straight through and talking to
- 25:10Speaker 6: player after player after player after player, I was beat down,
- 25:14Speaker 6: and I know they had to be.
- 25:16Speaker 2: We were.
- 25:17Speaker 6: So now the evening's gonna be free for the players,
- 25:20Speaker 6: it's going to be free for the coaches, it's gonna
- 25:22Speaker 6: be free for the personnel. We're going to knock it
- 25:24Speaker 6: out in the morning and then we're gonna push practice back.
- 25:27Speaker 6: You know, about forty five minutes per Well, what it
- 25:29Speaker 6: does is that second practice one end until six o'clock. Well,
- 25:34Speaker 6: that gives the community, and it gives dads and the
- 25:36Speaker 6: time to bring their kids. Mom and dads, sorry about that,
- 25:39Speaker 6: mom's dad to bring their child out there to practice
- 25:42Speaker 6: and into world. They'll actually be able to see it,
- 25:43Speaker 6: because before it would end at four point thirty and
- 25:46Speaker 6: it was like by the time they got there, it
- 25:48Speaker 6: was like there goes the horn, We're done, and they
- 25:51Speaker 6: didn't get to see those guys practice because not everybody
- 25:54Speaker 6: can go to the game, you know, because the schedules.
- 25:56Speaker 6: So the biggest piece is that I'm changing the entire
- 26:00Speaker 6: schedule of the week, and I'm doing it to try
- 26:03Speaker 6: to improve the experience first for the players, then for
- 26:07Speaker 6: the coaches, then for the personnel, you know. And it
- 26:10Speaker 6: actually benefits community because now they're going to be outspending
- 26:13Speaker 6: money in the community. So that's the other piece of it.
- 26:16Speaker 6: But yeah, thanks for risk about that, Milcaus. Matt and
- 26:18Speaker 6: I've kept talking about that a little bit last night.
- 26:20Speaker 3: So all right, there is Drew frabionis the executive director
- 26:24Speaker 3: of the Panini Senior Ball Good enough to join us, Drew,

- 28:15Speaker 3: All right, welcome back in OTB. Here live from the
- 28:18Speaker 3: twenty twenty five SEC Media Days. I think that's Brian
- 28:23Speaker 3: Kelly someone behind us if I'm not taking their shaft.
- 28:27Speaker 5: Okay, how are your eyes? Do you think?
- 28:28Speaker 2: Uh No, my eyes are good. I just you know
- 28:30Speaker 2: that very clearly, Brian Kelly.
- 28:32Speaker 5: Is it?
- 28:33Speaker 2: It's very clearly.
- 28:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:34Speaker 2: I mean I know the manuysms and so now I
- 28:36Speaker 2: see it. I don't know.
- 28:38Speaker 5: I mean twenty ten vision. It's not a big deal.
- 28:40Speaker 3: I mean I do thanks to Williamson before I did
- 28:43Speaker 3: not have it before.
- 28:44Speaker 2: It is like, you know, the the old coke bottle glasses.
- 28:47Speaker 3: You know the kid on Little Giants that has the
- 28:49Speaker 3: snot bubble yep, his glasses That was me.
- 28:52Speaker 5: What hey, the one that does the intimidatidation.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, like how the noor Sellers wears rexpecs.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Are he dead?
- 28:59Speaker 3: He kind of got rid of them. That was me
- 29:01Speaker 3: in seven eight year old baseball. And the only saving
- 29:06Speaker 3: grace that I had was Horace Grant was balling for
- 29:08Speaker 3: the Bulls at the time, and so like it wasn't
- 29:11Speaker 3: so bad. But my vision before I went to Williamson
- 29:14Speaker 3: was terrible.
- 29:16Speaker 5: How thick with a spectacle.
- 29:18Speaker 3: I mean you see that that last trophy case right
- 29:22Speaker 3: about that, Yeah, speaking there's a little popemobile that he
- 29:25Speaker 3: rides around in. Yeah, the thickness of that that.
- 29:30Speaker 4: This room behind us. We come in yesterday trying to
- 29:33Speaker 4: set up our equipment, trying to bring things here. You know,
- 29:37Speaker 4: to our surprise, nothing was ready. Tables and stuff not ready. So,
- 29:41Speaker 4: you know, shout out to Rivers. He had to get
- 29:43Speaker 4: it early, set up everything this morning and plug everything in.
- 29:46Speaker 4: But there's one thing that was real noticeable yesterday when
- 29:48Speaker 4: we got here, and it was the tables here for
- 29:51Speaker 4: the press conferences. They were all at standing height. Yeah,
- 29:55Speaker 4: And so we came in fully expecting all the reporters
- 29:59Speaker 4: that have to stay in here from you know whatever
- 30:01Speaker 4: it is, nine am, ten am, all the.
- 30:03Speaker 5: Way through six six pm. They were putting them. I
- 30:07Speaker 5: don't know.
- 30:07Speaker 4: They the SEC Media day has got like this health
- 30:10Speaker 4: kick or something. They want everybody to stand and we
- 30:13Speaker 4: were just kind of laughing at Can you imagine, like,
- 30:17Speaker 4: you know, there's some people that are in good shape here,
- 30:19Speaker 4: but there's some people that are not in the best
- 30:21Speaker 4: of shape having to stand up for these press conferences.
- 30:25Speaker 4: But we come in today and they got lazy. They
- 30:28Speaker 4: just got cold feet on the situation. They lowered all
- 30:30Speaker 4: the desks, so a bunch of lazy people down there
- 30:33Speaker 4: just sitting all day long.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Can you imagine some of those old sports riders having
- 30:38Speaker 3: to stand up for longer than an hour?
- 30:40Speaker 2: Though, No, what were you saying last night?
- 30:44Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, I forgot god, what was your line
- 30:47Speaker 3: last night?
- 30:48Speaker 5: Oh?
- 30:48Speaker 3: Yeah, you were like, hey, why why didn't you see that?
- 30:52Speaker 3: You know, squat corner they're on cover too when you
- 30:54Speaker 3: threw it over there and you said, why can't you
- 30:57Speaker 3: stand up for three hours?
- 30:58Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 30:58Speaker 4: I was like, yeah, why'd you overder this coverage? Blah
- 31:00Speaker 4: blah blah, Well, why can't you stand up for ten minutes? Yeah, yeah,
- 31:03Speaker 4: well you know, but anyway, we got to get laugh
- 31:07Speaker 4: yesterday thinking that they were gonna make him stand, but
- 31:09Speaker 4: they lowered them unfortunately.
- 31:11Speaker 5: Yeah. I would have liked to see it.
- 31:13Speaker 2: It's all right, it's all right, it's okay.
- 31:15Speaker 5: Why can't you stand up?
- 31:17Speaker 2: Could you stand up for an hour?
- 31:18Speaker 5: You bum? Yeah? Outh breather.
- 31:22Speaker 2: I really wishing hear what the yells you had? Booboo
- 31:25Speaker 2: coaches saying, But it's okay, we'll have that tomorrow.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Oh well, you got any way to open up this
- 31:30Speaker 3: window here?
- 31:31Speaker 5: I can read lips.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Let's see you down there, LSU.
- 31:34Speaker 5: We're a team.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Yep, we got it. It's yeah. Football is about this
- 31:38Speaker 4: big end zones are out there. We're gonna try to
- 31:43Speaker 4: score that end zone. Hey you over there.
- 31:47Speaker 3: I don't know he's talking about nuts probably, Yeah, a
- 31:50Speaker 3: lot of hand motions going on down there. It is
- 31:52Speaker 3: l s U, old Miss South Carolina and Vanderbilt here
- 31:55Speaker 3: today right now. Brian Kelly getting kind of things started
- 31:58Speaker 3: for the co which is will be Leane Kiffin, then
- 32:01Speaker 3: Shane Biemer, then Clark Lee, and Clark Lee has been
- 32:03Speaker 3: making the rounds already.
- 32:05Speaker 2: He said, he's been here since six am.
- 32:07Speaker 5: He didn't sit down with us, but he's been stalking
- 32:09Speaker 5: the tables.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Yeah, which like Clark, what are we doing? Like you're
- 32:12Speaker 3: a fullback, Like we stick together, like you're my guy.
- 32:15Speaker 3: He didn't see me.
- 32:16Speaker 5: He's probably because there's a quarterback here now. I think
- 32:18Speaker 5: I'm soft.
- 32:19Speaker 2: He really is.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Like we were playing Vanderbilt, you know, l C Vanderbilt
- 32:23Speaker 3: in Tiger Stadium this year, and I, you know, walked over.
- 32:25Speaker 2: I was like, Sam, what's up to him?
- 32:26Speaker 3: And we sat and we talked run scheme and like
- 32:30Speaker 3: two back blocking schemes for twenty minutes before the start
- 32:33Speaker 3: of that game.
- 32:34Speaker 2: I'm like, I guess I'll let you go. I gotta
- 32:36Speaker 2: go get up in the booth and you gotta.
- 32:37Speaker 5: I gotta get off to you, coach.
- 32:39Speaker 4: I don't know what you got going on today, but
- 32:42Speaker 4: I can't talk.
- 32:43Speaker 5: I was.
- 32:43Speaker 3: I was eating it all up there because we were
- 32:44Speaker 3: talking about how now, because everybody kind of plays basketball
- 32:49Speaker 3: on grass like a little seven on seven feel and
- 32:51Speaker 3: throwing the football around. He was talking about, Hey, when
- 32:54Speaker 3: you play a team that has either you know, an
- 32:58Speaker 3: f be at a tight end or like a fullback,
- 33:00Speaker 3: He's like, ours is an AF It's not a fullback.
- 33:02Speaker 2: But he's like, linebackers.
- 33:04Speaker 3: Don't know how to take on two back runs anymore.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Safeties don't know how to take on two I'm like,
- 33:09Speaker 3: in my mind, I'm like, that's crazy what we talk me.
- 33:10Speaker 2: He's like, think about it. They never see it.
- 33:12Speaker 5: Yep.
- 33:12Speaker 3: He's like, so like the linebackers that you and I
- 33:14Speaker 3: played against, that's all they knew. They knew how to
- 33:16Speaker 3: take on a blocker, stay in their gap, and also
- 33:19Speaker 3: shed and make a play. He's like, you run a
- 33:21Speaker 3: fullback at a linebacker right now, like he's in a buye.
- 33:24Speaker 3: He didn't know really what to do. He's so used
- 33:26Speaker 3: to having all this space. And I'm like, that's that's
- 33:28Speaker 3: a great point. I think about it. Michigan, how they
- 33:31Speaker 3: won the national championship. One of their best players, Max
- 33:34Speaker 3: Breedlove or Bretiston, sorry, is a fullback. And you look
- 33:39Speaker 3: at Ohio State and they had to fit they but
- 33:41Speaker 3: theirs was more twelve personnel, wasn't twenty one. But I
- 33:44Speaker 3: don't know, is it coming back? Is it in vogue?
- 33:46Speaker 4: Well, that's I mean, there's so many ebbs and flows
- 33:49Speaker 4: in football schematics. I mean, you look at the professional level.
- 33:52Speaker 4: We broke this down the other day about the best
- 33:55Speaker 4: offenses in the NFL are doing a lot of under center,
- 34:00Speaker 4: which for a while was you know, the majority of
- 34:02Speaker 4: teams were like, at least a really good offen. This
- 34:06Speaker 4: high percentage was a shotgun, and a lot of the
- 34:08Speaker 4: best offenses are getting more towards that fifty to fifty split.
- 34:12Speaker 5: Why is that?
- 34:12Speaker 4: Because that why have we started to see the running
- 34:16Speaker 4: back come back, the importance of it, running backs getting
- 34:19Speaker 4: paid a little bit more at the next level because
- 34:23Speaker 4: forever general managers scouts they had to start, you know,
- 34:28Speaker 4: trying to beat what was prevalent. How do we beat
- 34:32Speaker 4: these spread offenses? How do we breathe these run first offenses?
- 34:35Speaker 4: Quarterbacks that can get out of the pocket do different things.
- 34:37Speaker 4: You have to you have to get a little bit
- 34:39Speaker 4: thinner at defensive line. You got to get faster, you
- 34:41Speaker 4: got to get speed. But when you start, you know,
- 34:43Speaker 4: when you start implementing that from a personnel standpoint, implementing
- 34:47Speaker 4: that game plan, offenses.
- 34:48Speaker 5: Are all right, they're stopping us. What can we do differently?
- 34:50Speaker 4: Okay, well we can get under the center and hit
- 34:52Speaker 4: them in the mouth, because these guys are not built
- 34:55Speaker 4: to do that.
- 34:56Speaker 5: So that running back position.
- 34:57Speaker 4: The prevalence of that is going to come, and you're
- 35:00Speaker 4: going to see it more and more over the next
- 35:02Speaker 4: the next couple of years, running backs getting a little
- 35:04Speaker 4: bit bigger contracts, running backs in the discussion for potentially
- 35:09Speaker 4: in discussion for MVPs, things like that, because offenses shift
- 35:13Speaker 4: and then the defense will catch up and shift.
- 35:15Speaker 5: Then it'll go back and.
- 35:16Speaker 4: It'll just be a it'll be a roller coaster up
- 35:18Speaker 4: and down of how people are drafting, how they're building
- 35:23Speaker 4: their defensive line and linebacker and so it's so interesting
- 35:27Speaker 4: to see and I would see that in college football.
- 35:30Speaker 4: It's going to start in the next couple of years.
- 35:33Speaker 4: You know, there's there's offenses. You got quarterbacks that have
- 35:35Speaker 4: never taken a snap on the center, like from high
- 35:37Speaker 4: school on. You're gonna start seeing that change. I believe
- 35:41Speaker 4: that's my kind of prediction over the next two three
- 35:44Speaker 4: four years in college football of them following that NFL
- 35:48Speaker 4: blueprint of all right, let's get back under center and
- 35:51Speaker 4: changing our offense and doing a lot of what Clark
- 35:53Speaker 4: Clark Lee was just saying linebackers they don't know how
- 35:55Speaker 4: to take on at fullback. They don't know like which
- 35:57Speaker 4: shoulder to hit, how to shed, how to how to
- 36:01Speaker 4: make a make a lead block of glancing blow and
- 36:04Speaker 4: then stay in your gap. Right, So those are things
- 36:07Speaker 4: that I think will change and hopefully the slap count
- 36:11Speaker 4: goes away.
- 36:12Speaker 5: But yeah, football is just so excited.
- 36:15Speaker 2: You love the worst. I should have asked slap too though?
- 36:19Speaker 4: Has that everybody ever drawn anybody off side?
- 36:22Speaker 5: Maybe? I don't know. The answer is no answers. The
- 36:26Speaker 5: answer is it's dumb.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I love.
- 36:29Speaker 3: Like My favorite thing Gruden does is make fun of
- 36:31Speaker 3: people that do the clap count.
- 36:33Speaker 4: His video was so good a couple of weeks ago.
- 36:38Speaker 4: He did it too. He puts, I can't remember the
- 36:41Speaker 4: put it with Jackson Dard a little bit because that
- 36:46Speaker 4: is not going to be what you do at the
- 36:48Speaker 4: next level, sir, not gonna you actually use your mouth
- 36:54Speaker 4: say words.
- 36:55Speaker 5: There.
- 36:56Speaker 4: You can use things that can draw the other two
- 36:57Speaker 4: outsides and a clap does.
- 36:59Speaker 3: There's so many that y'all had to say, like at
- 37:01Speaker 3: the next level, Like we get to a lot of
- 37:02Speaker 3: scrimmage because a lot of times there would be two plays,
- 37:06Speaker 3: like even if it wasn't a kill situation, like there'd
- 37:08Speaker 3: still be like, hey, we know this play can turn
- 37:10Speaker 3: into that play, and I got to change everything at
- 37:12Speaker 3: the line of scrimmage and we got to bark so
- 37:14Speaker 3: many dummy calls as well.
- 37:16Speaker 2: You and I have talked about this, but.
- 37:18Speaker 3: How omahall when we were with the Broncos, it initially
- 37:23Speaker 3: was the next sound that I make after the omahall's
- 37:27Speaker 3: snapped the ball right. Well, then people got that, and
- 37:29Speaker 3: then it every week it was literally like omahol, this
- 37:33Speaker 3: week is going to mean this, and you had to
- 37:35Speaker 3: like remember this week what the omahall meant?
- 37:38Speaker 4: Yep, yeah, it's uh And you trained for that. And
- 37:41Speaker 4: you know, offense has always had they advantage because you
- 37:43Speaker 4: know what, we know what we're doing, we know what
- 37:45Speaker 4: the snapcount of defense doesn't of course, And I remember
- 37:47Speaker 4: ours in Green Bay was different types of snakes, so
- 37:51Speaker 4: like snake in the grass, so cobra or python or
- 37:57Speaker 4: sweet we could make the noise too, or like the
- 37:59Speaker 4: hand signal like a little snakehead or whatever. We knew that
- 38:01Speaker 4: was the dummy call. That was a cobra, so it'd
- 38:04Speaker 4: be like he could be like cobra cobra, like walking
- 38:09Speaker 4: to the line of scrimmage of the lineman.
- 38:10Speaker 5: But then like get to the line of scrimmage.
- 38:12Speaker 4: And be like, all right, it's like, you know, one
- 38:14Speaker 4: of the offensive linem acts like he doesn't know what
- 38:15Speaker 4: the snapcount is.
- 38:16Speaker 2: And Aaron's like, it's a one, dummy, it's on one.
- 38:19Speaker 4: But they knew that he hissed at him on the
- 38:21Speaker 4: way out of it. So everybody, of course it's on two.
- 38:23Speaker 3: Aaron Rodgers hissing at his offensive lineman.
- 38:28Speaker 5: Wait what it meant exactly?
- 38:29Speaker 4: So yeah, he was always the king still as the
- 38:32Speaker 4: king of like drawing people off sides. And it was
- 38:33Speaker 4: a little We practiced it all the time. We practice
- 38:36Speaker 4: it so much. And I'd like to see the stats
- 38:40Speaker 4: on touchdowns thrown from Aaron Rodgers, on off side penalties,
- 38:45Speaker 4: on dead plays. I know, I got a couple, just
- 38:49Speaker 4: a little free play, little free play, cal vanden Bosch.
- 38:54Speaker 2: All right, Calvan.
- 38:57Speaker 5: Right.
- 38:57Speaker 3: I was about to say, still know if I would
- 38:59Speaker 3: like put his name on something, just in case he
- 39:01Speaker 3: might be listening. He was one of the ones that
- 39:03Speaker 3: was thrown off enough where he might still like have
- 39:07Speaker 3: a list like Billy Madison.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Said he would wear.
- 39:10Speaker 4: He would wear red eye contacts or wide out contacts
- 39:13Speaker 4: and just for intimidation, but he did jump off side
- 39:15Speaker 4: when I threw a touchdown to Jordy Nelson and he
- 39:18Speaker 4: came across.
- 39:19Speaker 5: I got the pass off.
- 39:20Speaker 4: But he hit that crease with his elbow in between
- 39:22Speaker 4: my shoulder pads and my helmet like on my neck,
- 39:24Speaker 4: and it was one of those like my whole body
- 39:26Speaker 4: just like crumbled and I like just crumpled to the
- 39:30Speaker 4: ground like an accordion.
- 39:31Speaker 3: All right, when we come back, Hey, one of Elshu's
- 39:34Speaker 3: early season opponents has a new conference.

- 41:21Speaker 3: Welcome back in one final segment here on this Monday
- 41:25Speaker 3: morning edition of OTB Live from the College Football Hall
- 41:28Speaker 3: of Fame in the twenty twenty five SEC Media Days.
- 41:33Speaker 4: What question I got I've been thinking about this all day.
- 41:37Speaker 5: Those oranges aren't real? Are they?
- 41:40Speaker 2: Actually? They look they look real real?
- 41:44Speaker 3: Of course, Flynn not describing a painting the picture for you.
- 41:49Speaker 3: We are sitting in front of a huge Orange Bowl
- 41:52Speaker 3: championship trophy. There's a Rose Bowl, a sugar Bowl, a
- 41:55Speaker 3: Fiesta Bowl, there's a crystal ball.
- 41:59Speaker 2: We know a thing or two by that big deal
- 42:02Speaker 2: Cotton Bowl.
- 42:03Speaker 4: Beach Bowl, lots of different just NCA trophies, some individual
- 42:10Speaker 4: trophies over there. I can't see the names of them,
- 42:13Speaker 4: but I feel like it's trophies I've never seen before.
- 42:17Speaker 2: Yep, I don't know those fellas. Here some old timers
- 42:20Speaker 2: on those trophies, and I don't know who.
- 42:21Speaker 4: There's there's a guy. There's a bust of a guy
- 42:23Speaker 4: that looks like Dwight D. Eisenhower somehow. Sure the trophy
- 42:30Speaker 4: I know that.
- 42:31Speaker 3: I know the DoD DoD was Georgia tech a coach, right,
- 42:34Speaker 3: Bobby Dodge. Yeah, because they're Bobby Dodd. Uh Yeah, that
- 42:37Speaker 3: is Joe Burrow's name. I don't know what trophy that is,
- 42:39Speaker 3: but it does say, Sir Joseph Burrow looks like.
- 42:41Speaker 4: A bunch of kids just having fun, planned and joined
- 42:44Speaker 4: the game. Trophy Well, like I said, that's a bust
- 42:46Speaker 4: of Dwight D. Eisenhower for sure, back in the corner.
- 42:49Speaker 4: I don't know why he would be there though. So
- 42:52Speaker 4: and to the left of us, we have the current champions.
- 42:55Speaker 4: We have a Ohio state jersey and helmet with a
- 43:00Speaker 4: champions on it, number one on the jersey. So I'm
- 43:03Speaker 4: assuming that's just the current reigning champs are there. And
- 43:07Speaker 4: I'd like to I'd like to hear, like how often
- 43:09Speaker 4: the the Hall of Fame changes what's going on? And
- 43:14Speaker 4: here we had some of the huddle actually say there
- 43:15Speaker 4: might have been a Flint jersey up here at one point.
- 43:18Speaker 4: We're trying to get photo proof, We're trying to get
- 43:20Speaker 4: some evidence. Jake was bragging that his jersey was up
- 43:23Speaker 4: here at some point with maybe somebody else's name on it.
- 43:28Speaker 5: What kind of brings up a question, Yeah about eighteen? Sure,
- 43:32Speaker 5: what about it? What do we think this season?
- 43:34Speaker 3: Who would I like for it to be? If I
- 43:37Speaker 3: get to pick on offensive defense? Yeah, wit weeks on defense? Uh?
- 43:43Speaker 5: Uh?
- 43:44Speaker 2: Why not?
- 43:45Speaker 3: It hasn't been on a quarterback, yeah since the first Yeah,
- 43:48Speaker 3: so for like the first time it was Matt Mock
- 43:51Speaker 3: and then it's been every other position, including offensive line.
- 43:57Speaker 3: There's there's been corners and choice. There's been Lloyd Cushion
- 44:02Speaker 3: Berry was an offensive lineman. We've had Benny Logan as
- 44:05Speaker 3: a defensive lineman. We've had a slew of running backs,
- 44:08Speaker 3: including last year. Look, do you have an opportunity? I
- 44:13Speaker 3: wore thirteen in high school too. It's a little it's
- 44:17Speaker 3: two marks on the three to make it an eight.
- 44:19Speaker 2: Go ahead. Look, that's like the ultimate.
- 44:22Speaker 3: Hey, this is our guy. He's going to ride with it.
- 44:25Speaker 3: We're changing his number. He's already made a number change
- 44:28Speaker 3: in college. It's not that big of a deal. Put
- 44:31Speaker 3: eighteen on us miner.
- 44:32Speaker 4: Yeah, the and I agree with you if he wants
- 44:34Speaker 4: to wear it, not that I like. I think eighteen
- 44:36Speaker 4: is a cool number. Like I'm you know, I've always
- 44:39Speaker 4: been against it. Obviously, who was fifteen? The cool people? Okay,
- 44:47Speaker 4: I want to know has anybody turned it down? I'm
- 44:50Speaker 4: sure there has been because some people like have their numbers,
- 44:52Speaker 4: their their number is a lot of times numbers are
- 44:55Speaker 4: very personal to a person, for sure. Sure that's there
- 44:58Speaker 4: for a reason, man, life, you know what right? I mean,
- 45:03Speaker 4: that's you know, it's a personal thing. So you've played
- 45:06Speaker 4: and had success for three or four years under a
- 45:08Speaker 4: certain number. You definitely don't always, but I know eighteen
- 45:12Speaker 4: holds this lore.
- 45:13Speaker 3: I don't know if there's I'm trying to think. The
- 45:17Speaker 3: only one I can remember was Devin White. Devin White
- 45:20Speaker 3: like he wanted to wear forty. That might be the
- 45:23Speaker 3: only answer there.
- 45:24Speaker 2: So I don't know.
- 45:24Speaker 3: Hey, you know what, I'll do some research. I'll get
- 45:26Speaker 3: back to you tomorrow. It's called a teaser, it's called
