- 0:49Speaker 2: Hey Frank, So you know what I want to ask you,
- 0:52Speaker 2: Greg about the defense and in particular the linebackers because
- 0:55Speaker 2: it looks like a transition here has taken place and
- 0:59Speaker 2: m Kobe has usurped Jahad Campbell. And my question to
- 1:03Speaker 2: you was, I mean, watching the Edge group the other day,
- 1:06Speaker 2: I know the numbers maybe reflected a different story than
- 1:09Speaker 2: what the Naked Eyes saw in terms of the pressuring.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I thought Patrick Johnson struggled mightily. And again I get it,
- 1:15Speaker 2: He's going against Andrew Thomas a majority of the time,
- 1:17Speaker 2: so I understand what he was going up against. But
- 1:20Speaker 2: how did Jahad Campbell not factor more into maybe as
- 1:23Speaker 2: an edge rusher. And I know that you don't know
- 1:25Speaker 2: that you're not in the meetings or whatnot. But from
- 1:27Speaker 2: what you've seen of him as an edge rusher, does
- 1:29Speaker 2: he give a little bit more than what we had?
- 1:32Speaker 2: Because I was shocked at in his snaps for the game.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Oh I know, is that what I saw when he
- 1:39Speaker 3: was in college? Because he hasn't really even deployed as
- 1:42Speaker 3: an edge rusher with the Eagles, and in fact, he
- 1:44Speaker 3: didn't play one snap as an age rusher in their
- 1:47Speaker 3: nickel defense. The only time he was on the edge
- 1:50Speaker 3: was in their base five to two front, so we
- 1:52Speaker 3: really haven't seen him do that. But I can tell
- 1:54Speaker 3: you when I watched him in college, I thought he
- 1:57Speaker 3: was far more explosive as an edge rusher than he
- 1:59Speaker 3: was as a stacked backer. So again, you hit it
- 2:03Speaker 3: on the head. I can't answer that question, but they
- 2:06Speaker 3: don't seem to want to put him there, and Dean clearly,
- 2:10Speaker 3: I mean it. Dean played a lot more snaps than
- 2:14Speaker 3: Campbell did last week. Gambell is down to about twenty snaps,
- 2:18Speaker 3: and I don't know if that's the way it's going
- 2:19Speaker 3: to be going forward. But you know, the only thing
- 2:22Speaker 3: I can tell you was they were really happy with
- 2:24Speaker 3: Dean last year down the stretch until he got hurt
- 2:26Speaker 3: in the playoffs. They thought he had really gotten better
- 2:29Speaker 3: and better and better and over the course of seven
- 2:31Speaker 3: eight games. The one thing that's always hard for me
- 2:35Speaker 3: to know for sure, Frank, and I'm just being honest,
- 2:37Speaker 3: is because I'm not charting every play. You know, I
- 2:40Speaker 3: can't do every player on every play. I can't do that.
- 2:43Speaker 3: And even if I could do that, I still wouldn't
- 2:45Speaker 3: know exactly how he's being coached and what he's being
- 2:47Speaker 3: asked to do in the context of every defensive call.
- 2:50Speaker 3: So it's very possible that they just believe that Dean,
- 2:53Speaker 3: in terms of executing play after play after play, is
- 2:57Speaker 3: a better stacked backer at this point in time, even
- 3:00Speaker 3: though he's not as athletic as Campbell, that he's just
- 3:03Speaker 3: a better player in terms of executing what they want executed. Yeah,
- 3:07Speaker 3: that was my questions regarding this.
- 3:09Speaker 4: You know, the Ken Batullo and Jalen hurds that were
- 3:12Speaker 4: kind of in the multi Do you see some improvement
- 3:16Speaker 4: in his decision.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Making the last few weeks when they've instituted this or
- 3:20Speaker 2: is it kind of taken away half the field to
- 3:22Speaker 2: meet your make decision or some throws?
- 3:24Speaker 5: Have you seen anything in that regard?
- 3:26Speaker 3: And you know, and just overall play selection improvement. I
- 3:29Speaker 3: thought there were a couple of players where I thought, see,
- 3:31Speaker 3: I'd love to see them do more of that. But
- 3:34Speaker 3: you know, we discussed this last night. You know, it's
- 3:38Speaker 3: very interesting how things play out, Dan, when when you're
- 3:41Speaker 3: a running football team and you run the ball really well,
- 3:44Speaker 3: everything looks really good. It just makes everything look better.
- 3:48Speaker 3: You know. They had eight runs of ten plus yards
- 3:50Speaker 3: and actually Bigsby had five of them and Barkley had
- 3:54Speaker 3: had three. But obviously the second play of the game
- 3:57Speaker 3: he ran sixty five yards for a touchdown. But they
- 3:59Speaker 3: did have one concept which I really really liked and
- 4:03Speaker 3: I'm surprised we really haven't seen more of it. It
- 4:05Speaker 3: was actually his only completion from under center in the game,
- 4:10Speaker 3: but it was It's a concept that everybody uses, and
- 4:15Speaker 3: I just thought that he hit Smith on an inbreaker
- 4:19Speaker 3: twenty six yards. It was. It started the second quarter,
- 4:22Speaker 3: It came out of twelve personnel. They actually had a
- 4:24Speaker 3: lot to in the game. Is offset week in the
- 4:27Speaker 3: fallback alignment and it was one of those quick play actions,
- 4:32Speaker 3: you know, five step drop timing in rhythm. He hit
- 4:34Speaker 3: Smith on this basically a skinny post type route. It's
- 4:37Speaker 3: something you don't see much from the Eagles, and it
- 4:39Speaker 3: was executed really, really well. I would love to see
- 4:43Speaker 3: more of that. I think you probably will, but you know,
- 4:49Speaker 3: look this game. The bottom line is this game was
- 4:52Speaker 3: very representative of exactly who they were a year ago.
- 4:56Speaker 3: The run game was the dominant force. Hurts a twenty
- 4:59Speaker 3: seven drop back when you count the plays where he
- 5:01Speaker 3: didn't throw it, but you know, obviously he had twenty
- 5:04Speaker 3: pass attempts, but twenty seven call dropbacks. This is the
- 5:07Speaker 3: way they played a year ago. He didn't throw for
- 5:09Speaker 3: two hundred yards, but he was efficient. He was highly efficient.
- 5:13Speaker 3: He never turns it over. And this is sort of
- 5:17Speaker 3: their template. This is the Eagles offensive template for that.
- 5:20Speaker 3: It was the first time this season that you saw
- 5:22Speaker 3: that template. We'll see if they can build upon it.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Are you don't today? All right?
- 5:27Speaker 3: So quick question, I see a lot of pressure this week.
- 5:33Speaker 4: Now. Is it them playing better or was it the Giants?
- 5:37Speaker 5: Just say, except for Thomas out there is just a
- 5:40Speaker 5: little mediocre.
- 5:42Speaker 3: You're talking about pass rush pressure. Yes, well there was
- 5:46Speaker 3: very There wasn't a lot of pass rush pressure within
- 5:49Speaker 3: the first two point five to three seconds. There was
- 5:51Speaker 3: a lot of pressure later in the down because Jackson
- 5:54Speaker 3: Dart is at the point in his career at this
- 5:56Speaker 3: moment where he just doesn't see things very well and
- 5:59Speaker 3: he just doesn't get rid of the football. So there
- 6:02Speaker 3: are a lot of, you know, late in the down
- 6:04Speaker 3: sacks and pressures that were really resulted from Dart. A
- 6:08Speaker 3: great expression that Ryan Juworski gave me years and years ago,
- 6:12Speaker 3: and I believe it a thousand percent when I watch
- 6:14Speaker 3: on quarterbacks is Dart is at the point in his
- 6:18Speaker 3: career right now where he sees sees everything but sees nothing,
- 6:22Speaker 3: so he doesn't really see what's going on. And you
- 6:25Speaker 3: saw a lot of those sacks come not from initial
- 6:29Speaker 3: pass rush, but from what we call secondary sacks. Those hey,
- 6:33Speaker 3: those are fine, those work too, but they aren't those
- 6:36Speaker 3: immediate pressures.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Old school coverage sacks.
- 6:41Speaker 3: They're not really coverage sacks, their quarterback sacks because he
- 6:45Speaker 3: just doesn't see it.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Okay, okay, okay.
- 6:49Speaker 1: All right, that was it?
- 6:51Speaker 2: Good one.
- 6:51Speaker 5: I want to do it. I want to ask you, actually,
- 6:55Speaker 5: since we're pretty much halfway through about the season now,
- 7:00Speaker 5: how would you evaluate Tylerstein in his first year as
- 7:02Speaker 5: it started with it right guard?
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I think he's gotten better over the last
- 7:08Speaker 3: couple of weeks. I thought through the first part of
- 7:09Speaker 3: the season he was very uneven Welton. I thought that
- 7:12Speaker 3: they were already you know, there were good snaps, but
- 7:14Speaker 3: bad snaps as well. I haven't noticed the bad snaps
- 7:18Speaker 3: as much over the last couple of weeks. I think
- 7:20Speaker 3: he's settling in and playing better. Don't forget, he was
- 7:23Speaker 3: a tackle for four years in college, so I mean
- 7:25Speaker 3: he has good feed. He's relatively athletic, you know, he's
- 7:29Speaker 3: not a big stiff guy, and I think he's settling in.
- 7:32Speaker 3: I think he's playing better now than he did earlier
- 7:34Speaker 3: in the season, and that's a real positive.
- 7:36Speaker 6: Hey, I still like a good night out, but I'm
- 7:39Speaker 6: not always in the mood to drink, and that's why

- 10:02Speaker 6: made for Philly fans twenty one and up.
- 10:05Speaker 7: So I love run run schemes and I noticed a
- 10:08Speaker 7: lot of cool stuff. And I know you commented in
- 10:10Speaker 7: your notes and your breakdown, but could you go into
- 10:14Speaker 7: more detail. Especially, it seemed like the Eagles did a
- 10:17Speaker 7: really good job of mixing zone versus gap schemes and
- 10:21Speaker 7: kind of adding a lot of new elements. Like it's
- 10:24Speaker 7: like they executed that pinpool like the best I've seen
- 10:27Speaker 7: all year. Is there anything that you noticed on that?
- 10:30Speaker 7: And they pulled guards which was kind of cool to see. Yeah,
- 10:34Speaker 7: is there anything else? It just it looked different from
- 10:36Speaker 7: this from the last you think, you know.
- 10:40Speaker 3: Very often run schemes, Kyle, become a function of what
- 10:43Speaker 3: you think your players can execute and the opponent because
- 10:46Speaker 3: every team has all these plays in their playbook, you know,
- 10:49Speaker 3: as I said, not you know, somewhat jokingly, but not jokingly.
- 10:52Speaker 3: There's not a thousand run schemes, so every team has
- 10:55Speaker 3: all these run schemes. But really stood out to me
- 10:58Speaker 3: that looked different was the when they pulled tof Because
- 11:04Speaker 3: you know, Tat with someone who for the first couple
- 11:06Speaker 3: of games that he started, whether it was a guard
- 11:08Speaker 3: or at center, just did not look like a very
- 11:10Speaker 3: good player. And in this game he played at a
- 11:12Speaker 3: really high level and he looked very athletic, very mobile.
- 11:17Speaker 3: I thought that, you know, and they probably knew that
- 11:21Speaker 3: about him because I think by trade he was a
- 11:23Speaker 3: tackle correct Adham wasn't. It wasn't tath at, Yes he was.
- 11:26Speaker 3: He was a left tackled army.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Yes.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Yeah. So he's probably you know, more athletic than your
- 11:31Speaker 3: quote unquote average center, and I thought he did a
- 11:34Speaker 3: phenomenal job on those run schemes where they got him
- 11:37Speaker 3: outside and then he even had an unbelievably great block
- 11:41Speaker 3: on a Barkley screen for twelve or thirteen yards. He
- 11:44Speaker 3: just you know, so I think they took advantage of
- 11:46Speaker 3: the fact that he's athletic and could out get outside.
- 11:50Speaker 3: And the other factor too is I don't know that's
- 11:52Speaker 3: for a fact, but the reality is, when you're playing
- 11:55Speaker 3: against the defense at his dexter lawrence, you're probably not
- 11:58Speaker 3: thinking that you're going to make a ton of money
- 12:01Speaker 3: in the game by just going inside because at his
- 12:03Speaker 3: best he's a top two or three defensive tackle in
- 12:06Speaker 3: the league and he's three hundred and forty pounds, So
- 12:09Speaker 3: you know, I'm sure that that factored in as well.
- 12:11Speaker 4: So getting to sort of mid season again, what's your
- 12:19Speaker 4: evaluation of how like the KILLI Ringo played in this
- 12:26Speaker 4: last game relative to earlier in the season, Because we
- 12:30Speaker 4: didn't hear his name very much. Now that just been
- 12:34Speaker 4: because for some reason they didn't throw in his direction,
- 12:38Speaker 4: but was like his coverage actually decent.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Or I gotta tell you, Mark, that's been one of
- 12:43Speaker 3: the most amazing things to me over since he's been
- 12:47Speaker 3: a starter, that teams are not testing Kailee Ringo. You know,
- 12:51Speaker 3: I don't Hi, for one, just don't understand it. I mean,
- 12:54Speaker 3: I would go after him and make him have to play. Now,
- 12:58Speaker 3: you just played a quarterback who is really you know,
- 13:02Speaker 3: you know, people equate energy and excitement, which Dart has
- 13:05Speaker 3: with being a good player, and he's not a good
- 13:08Speaker 3: player at this moment in time, and he's not really
- 13:11Speaker 3: ready to dissect the defense. But still, I'm just blown
- 13:15Speaker 3: away by the fact that teams have not really gone
- 13:17Speaker 3: after Kailee Ringo and made him to have to play. Because,
- 13:21Speaker 3: amazingly enough, contrary to what maybe a lot of people
- 13:25Speaker 3: might believe, the Eagles have played a very high percentage
- 13:28Speaker 3: of man coverage. They've played top three percentage of Cover one,
- 13:33Speaker 3: which is man coverage with a single high safety, And
- 13:37Speaker 3: so it's not as if they're sitting back in zone
- 13:39Speaker 3: and he's not being asked to cover one all one
- 13:42Speaker 3: and it's just teams are not testing him at all,
- 13:44Speaker 3: and I'm just very surprised by that.
- 13:47Speaker 8: Hey, how's it going, Greg? Appreciate you. I haven't gotten
- 13:51Speaker 8: to listen to your tape shows yet, but I wanted
- 13:54Speaker 8: to ask about Goddard. His utilization in the red zone
- 13:57Speaker 8: has been awesome this year, and I just wondered, are
- 13:59Speaker 8: they doing things differently with him or is just Hurts
- 14:01Speaker 8: finally trusting him and throwing to him as the plays
- 14:03Speaker 8: are designed, if you can tell, I.
- 14:05Speaker 3: Think that's where I mean, say what you want. And
- 14:07Speaker 3: I know a lot of people, probably early in the
- 14:09Speaker 3: season did not like Kevin Bittuloh, but I think they've
- 14:12Speaker 3: done a really good job schematically in the red zone,
- 14:15Speaker 3: a really good job, and I think Goddard's been the
- 14:17Speaker 3: beneficiary or beneficiar of that in many ways. You've seen
- 14:21Speaker 3: a lot of I don't want to call them gimmick
- 14:23Speaker 3: plays because in the red zone you do need to
- 14:25Speaker 3: come up with some things that are just not basics,
- 14:28Speaker 3: so they're not really gimmicks. You've seen the Chiefs do
- 14:30Speaker 3: that for years. Andy Reid's always been really good at that.
- 14:33Speaker 3: I've seen other teams do things like that, so they're
- 14:35Speaker 3: not really gimmicks, but they're just plays that are sort
- 14:38Speaker 3: of not normal plays within the context of a game.
- 14:40Speaker 3: And I think, Chris, they've done a great job in
- 14:42Speaker 3: the red zone, you know, with play design, with those
- 14:45Speaker 3: kinds of plays, and it's and Goddard's just he's been
- 14:48Speaker 3: the guy and so therefore he's got a lot of touchdowns.
- 14:53Speaker 8: Yeah, it was great seeing the tight window throw. I
- 14:55Speaker 8: think the first one, the slant that Goddard kind of had,
- 14:58Speaker 8: I think the.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Then they got in the red zone. Yeah, well that
- 15:01Speaker 3: was really a tight window throw. But I know the
- 15:03Speaker 3: player you're talking about, you're talking about the first touchdown.
- 15:06Speaker 8: Yeah, it looked like, you know, usually hurts us and
- 15:09Speaker 8: throw over the middle with that many people in traffic,
- 15:11Speaker 8: So it was.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Well, it wasn't. It wasn't really the first got her
- 15:16Speaker 3: touchdown that came. The Giants actually played man to man there,
- 15:21Speaker 3: but Nuban was matched on Goddard. He was playing off
- 15:24Speaker 3: coverage and and Godard was the outside receiver, so it
- 15:29Speaker 3: was basically pitch and catch because Nuban was playing a
- 15:32Speaker 3: good six seven yards off, which again I don't understand
- 15:36Speaker 3: that one you're six yards from the end zone. But
- 15:39Speaker 3: you know, so be it. So that was not a
- 15:41Speaker 3: hard throw, that was not a tight window throw.
- 15:44Speaker 9: Good that question maybe you're just speaking to the first
- 15:47Speaker 9: one was about the Packers just their receiver platoon. I
- 15:54Speaker 9: don't think I've ever seen that before where they literally
- 15:57Speaker 9: have like two different guys in on two or three
- 16:01Speaker 9: different guys in on every different play. Like, I know
- 16:03Speaker 9: they have a deep core, but it seems like they
- 16:06Speaker 9: just put to them a lot. And I know a
- 16:07Speaker 9: lot of people have complained that the Packers offense should
- 16:09Speaker 9: be a little bit better than it actually is. And
- 16:12Speaker 9: do you think that might be one of the reasons
- 16:14Speaker 9: why it feels like they're like a little bit off
- 16:16Speaker 9: script sometimes as an offense.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Well, they weren't off script the other night, and yeah,
- 16:23Speaker 3: they're super decisive. Love got rid of the ball, everything
- 16:26Speaker 3: came out quick. I don't think the receivers would be
- 16:30Speaker 3: the reason that you're off script, because they practice, you know,
- 16:33Speaker 3: and you know, and normally if you're off script, it
- 16:36Speaker 3: has more to do with a quarterback than the receivers.
- 16:39Speaker 3: But that's just you know, that's how they choose to play.
- 16:42Speaker 3: I mean, look, they've drafted receivers, you know, they drafted
- 16:45Speaker 3: Golden in the first round. This year, they've drafted Dobbs
- 16:48Speaker 3: was I think a second round pick, Wix which all
- 16:52Speaker 3: the Maybia. Yeah. I mean they've just drafted a lot
- 16:55Speaker 3: of receivers and you know they're they're pretty good players.
- 16:59Speaker 3: All right, Great, this is a good one. Good thanks guys.
- 17:02Speaker 3: We'll see you tomorrow night. Thanks guys. All right, guys,
- 17:04Speaker 3: thanks so much. All right, m
- 17:11Speaker 2: Okay,
