- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. Actually good pasta morning
- 0:30because they are having pasta today.
- 0:32And if anyone's interested in the fact that 1 LB of pasta
- 0:36cooked up and chopped up with zucchini, shredded zucchini last
- 0:42about, I'd say one minute, little over one minute for them
- 0:46to eat at 61. Chickens can eat that that
- 0:49quickly. It's pretty amazing.
- 0:51And they're still just pecking away at all the little shreds of
- 0:54the zucchini on the trays, but the pasta is gone.
- 0:57So anyway, that, that is a good lead in to my Segway today
- 1:03because I, I had a, a, a real epiphany.
- 1:07I was reading a quote from Esther Hicks and any of you who
- 1:10are regular followers know how much I love Esther Hicks.
- 1:12And she said this is a quote from her.
- 1:14A happy life is just a string of happy moments.
- 1:18Most people don't allow the happy moment because they're so
- 1:21busy trying to get a happy life. Now she said that 20.
- 1:26Let me see. She said that in 2003.
- 1:28So look how long ago that was. 20, you know, 22 years ago, 23
- 1:33years ago, whenever she said it. And it to me is still so
- 1:38relevant for today because we're constantly chasing something and
- 1:43saying I want the happy life and we think that it's a
- 1:46destination, but it's not. It's a series of happy moments.
- 1:50And just like I, I was saying about the pasta, whenever I do
- 1:54pasta for them and I bring it out, it is such a happy moment
- 1:58for me because they actually can smell it and they get so excited
- 2:01and they're doing their little happy flap dance and they're
- 2:04running around looking at me like, put the plates down, put
- 2:06the plates down. And it's hysterical to see how
- 2:09excited somebody gets about pasta and it, it just brings me
- 2:15pure joy to spoil them like that.
- 2:18And it's a happy moment. And then as I'm standing out
- 2:22here getting ready to record, it's a happy moment listening to
- 2:25them all start screeching to get their boxes.
- 2:28Some are leaving to go walk out. Some are headed off to different
- 2:32spots because the garden has a tarp.
- 2:34The tarps are down now in the garden or the the fabrics down
- 2:37in the garden and they can't get in, but they're I just love
- 2:40watching the morning here. It just brings me such joy to
- 2:44have this the way it is. And does that mean the whole day
- 2:48is going to be joyous? No, it doesn't.
- 2:50Does it mean that there are things that I have to do today?
- 2:53Yes. Like I have to go shopping
- 2:56later, food shopping, and I don't like to go later in the
- 3:00day. And I slept a little bit later
- 3:03this morning. I slept till 6:30, which is
- 3:06crazy insane because I'm always up at 4.
- 3:08But I was exhausted from what we were doing yesterday in the
- 3:11garden, so I just slept. And that put me on a different
- 3:16trajectory. So things got a little backed
- 3:17up. Does that make me happy in that
- 3:19moment? No, I'm not unhappy.
- 3:21But I couldn't say that those choices made me happy.
- 3:26The choice to sleep in made me happy, but the results of it did
- 3:29not make me happy. Does it make sense?
- 3:31So I want you to think about it that way.
- 3:33We have multiple ways to view this.
- 3:37And if I sat there and said to you, overall, I am an extremely
- 3:40happy person. Like just inside I feel
- 3:43happiness, I feel joyous, I feel blessed.
- 3:47I can't say how blessed I feel. I mean, it's, it's insane.
- 3:50However, if I look at the day and I break it down, sometimes
- 3:55our days look like Ekgs. They're up and down, up and
- 3:58down, up and down, up and down. And that's the part that we have
- 4:01to accept. It's like a happy life is
- 4:04something that you choose inside of yourself, the moment to
- 4:08moment, you collect the happy moments and then you remember
- 4:12them. So This is why I, I personally
- 4:15believe This is why we take pictures, because we want to
- 4:17remember the beautiful things. We want to remember the happy
- 4:21things. So we take mostly pictures of
- 4:24that. Now, if there's a severe
- 4:26accident and we need proof of something, yes, we do take out
- 4:29our cameras for that purpose. But for the most part, what do
- 4:33we use our cameras for? We we collect the happy moments
- 4:36and that is just more evidence of how we are.
- 4:40We are driven to find those. We are driven to see those.
- 4:43What's beautiful, what's happy, what's joyful, what's a moment I
- 4:46want to go back to and wow, that's a great shot because it
- 4:50brings us right back to it. That's the beautiful thing about
- 4:54having photographs. So just pause and say to
- 4:58yourself, my collection of happy moments today looked like this.
- 5:04When you debrief your day and ignore the things that you don't
- 5:08want to pay attention to in that, just to allow yourself to
- 5:11say this, this, this is good. You don't have to focus on all,
- 5:15yes, the other things happened. Yes, we know they're there, but
- 5:17we don't have to give it our attention to have it grow for
- 5:19the next day and the next day. So start to string together
- 5:23those happy moments. And and if you've got chickens,
- 5:26I promise you they do like pasta.
- 5:28All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 5:30will see you tomorrow. Bye.
