- 0:19Sean McAllister: Vegas Revealed was there for what may have been the final farewell.
- 0:23Sean McAllister: And the weather may be cooling down, but the Las Vegas pizza scene is heating up.
- 0:29Sean McAllister: We have details on the spiciest pizza in the world and where it just debuted.
- 0:34Dayna Roselli: Plus, I'm back in the U.S.
- 0:36Dayna Roselli: after an overseas trip.
- 0:37Dayna Roselli: From money matters to airport security, I discovered things that all international travelers should know.
- 0:43Dayna Roselli: All that coming up on Vegas Revealed.
- 0:46Sean McAllister: But first, we want to tell you about a new app that is going to change your Las Vegas experience.
- 0:52Sean McAllister: It's called Vegas Near Me.
- 0:54Sean McAllister: It's now officially launched in the App Store on Apple.
- 0:58Sean McAllister: You do need iOS 16 running on your phone in order to use it, so keep that in mind.
- 1:04Sean McAllister: Think of Vegas Near Me as kind of a concierge in your pocket.
- 1:09Sean McAllister: You'll find more than 16,000 Las Vegas businesses and activities there.
- 1:14Dayna Roselli: And instead of reviews, Vegas NearMe has compiled thousands of Las Vegas-related YouTube channels and podcasts like Vegas Revealed so that you can hear about and see real-life experiences at the places you're searching.
- 1:27Dayna Roselli: You watch and listen all inside the app.
- 1:29Dayna Roselli: And what I really love is that Vegas NearMe takes pride in the fact that the hours of business listed in the app are correct.
- 1:36Dayna Roselli: There is nothing worse than making a trip somewhere only to find out it's closed.
- 1:41Dayna Roselli: That won't happen with Vegas NearMe.
- 1:43Sean McAllister: Use our Vegas Revealed link that we provided down in our show notes to download Vegas NearMe to your phone right now.
- 1:51Sean McAllister: It's taken six years and a team of more than 40 people around the world to develop Vegas Near Me.
- 1:57Sean McAllister: Download and don't forget to use our link in the show notes.
- 2:01Dayna Roselli: If it's fun to do RC, it's on Vegas Near Me.
- 2:05Sean McAllister: Let's spin that wheel.
- 2:13Dayna Roselli: Welcome to episode 142 of Vegas Revealed.
- 2:16Dayna Roselli: Dana Roselli here with Sean McAllister.
- 2:19Sean McAllister: And Dana, you're back in Las Vegas after a big overseas trip.
- 2:23Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 2:23Dayna Roselli: It feels like when you're gone, it's like really long and enjoyable.
- 2:26Dayna Roselli: You get back and then it's like boom, right back to the grind, right?
- 2:29Dayna Roselli: Here we are doing another podcast.
- 2:31Dayna Roselli: But I quickly wanted to run through some of the things I experienced, if you don't mind, because I know we have a lot of listeners that like to travel internationally.
- 2:39Sean McAllister: Yeah, and there were some surprising things that kind of caught you off guard a little bit, right?
- 2:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I had, you know, some money that I used in 2019 when I went to London.
- 2:47Dayna Roselli: Like, and I just didn't go and exchange it back for American money.
- 2:51Dayna Roselli: I just thought, well, I'll be back in London because my friend's from there and everything.
- 2:54Dayna Roselli: And so I had like 70 pounds, you know, that I was going to use for like taxi cabs and things like that.
- 2:59Dayna Roselli: Anyway, um, I learned when I was there, literally, as I was there, Sean, the$20, 20, I guess 20 pounds, I should say.
- 3:06Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 3:06Dayna Roselli: With the the one with the queen on it, and it's kind of like a paper money, um expired.
- 3:11Dayna Roselli: Like they were no longer producing it anymore, and you were no longer allowed to use it.
- 3:16Dayna Roselli: So I was like, literally, my luck.
- 3:17Dayna Roselli: Like one day I used it, and then the next day they were like, oh, this is outdated.
- 3:21Dayna Roselli: We can't take this anymore.
- 3:23Sean McAllister: And so is that because it has the queen's image on it and they're switching over to Charles?
- 3:29Dayna Roselli: No, I don't think so.
- 3:30Dayna Roselli: I think what it is is they turn because I had some tens and fives on me, and it was more of like a plastic feel.
- 3:37Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 3:37Dayna Roselli: Like a really thin, like almost like it has a coating on it.
- 3:41Dayna Roselli: And these these 20 pounds that I had were more like paper and floppy kind of material.
- 3:48Dayna Roselli: So apparently those have now like transferred over to the more plasticky kind of money.
- 3:54Dayna Roselli: I think it's probably more secure and all that kind of thing.
- 3:56Dayna Roselli: So I don't think it had anything to do with the queen and then it being replaced with the king.
- 4:01Dayna Roselli: But interesting because that is something they'll have to look up.
- 4:03Dayna Roselli: I wonder if they are gonna change some of the money now with the the face on it.
- 4:08Sean McAllister: Yeah, I would imagine they would.
- 4:09Sean McAllister: But so this in this case, they're just taking old money out of circulation and they have a new bill that's come out that's gonna be used uh everywhere.
- 4:20Dayna Roselli: Exactly, exactly.
- 4:21Dayna Roselli: And it just happened to change over while I was there.
- 4:23Dayna Roselli: So I'm like you.
- 4:25Dayna Roselli: I know, lucky me.
- 4:25Dayna Roselli: So I was like, well, and my friend was like, well, keep this one, it's a good souvenir to have because they don't make it anymore.
- 4:30Dayna Roselli: And I was like, that's true.
- 4:31Dayna Roselli: So I took it home and I'll keep it because sometimes I do like to collect money from different places that I've been.
- 4:36Dayna Roselli: So, and it does have the queen on it, which is kind of cool, you know, um, very historic and to keep as a that.
- 4:42Dayna Roselli: But anyway, I was a part of history, yeah.
- 4:44Dayna Roselli: So I was able to use like uh some of the money, but not all of it.
- 4:47Dayna Roselli: But that was fine, whatever.
- 4:48Dayna Roselli: I just resorted to the American Express.
- 4:51Dayna Roselli: Um, okay, so that was one thing that I learned.
- 4:53Dayna Roselli: So if you've got some old pounds and you go back to England, uh remember you won't be able to use that.
- 5:00Dayna Roselli: Uh something else.
- 5:02Dayna Roselli: Terminal three at Harry Reid Airport.
- 5:04Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 5:06Dayna Roselli: Pet peeve.
- 5:07Sean McAllister: Uh-oh.
- 5:08Dayna Roselli: First of all, my flight was supposed to take off at 9:30.
- 5:11Dayna Roselli: But usually with international flights, you want to get there well in advance.
- 5:15Dayna Roselli: They encourage it, right?
- 5:16Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 5:17Dayna Roselli: So I did.
- 5:17Dayna Roselli: I was like there two hours early, even though they recommend three.
- 5:20Dayna Roselli: I was still, but you know, with two hours, you have a plan.
- 5:22Dayna Roselli: Like, well, I'm gonna grab a coffee, maybe I'll, you know, eat there, that kind of thing.
- 5:26Dayna Roselli: Because you're in this terminal for such a long period of time, it's not like a domestic flight.
- 5:31Dayna Roselli: But the food choices, there was like everything was closed.
- 5:33Dayna Roselli: There was one Carl Jr.
- 5:34Dayna Roselli: that was open, and the line was wrapped down the row because there were several international flights that were taking off.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: Really?
- 5:42Dayna Roselli: And they were like out of ice and the soft drink, they were out of this, they were out of that.
- 5:47Dayna Roselli: It was just like mayhem.
- 5:49Dayna Roselli: And I thought, come on.
- 5:50Sean McAllister: I mean There was nothing else open, nothing else open.
- 5:54Dayna Roselli: Literally nothing.
- 5:55Dayna Roselli: There was grab like a grab and go little place where you could grab a bottled drink and maybe some nuts.
- 6:00Sean McAllister: But other than that, oh my gosh, because there's so many places where like a TGI Fridays kind of thing where you can go and sit at the bar and order food.
- 6:09Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 6:09Dayna Roselli: No, I walked down the whole thing because I had time.
- 6:11Dayna Roselli: I'm like nothing.
- 6:12Dayna Roselli: Everything was closed.
- 6:13Dayna Roselli: So it was super frustrating.
- 6:14Dayna Roselli: I thought, you know, come on, this is an international terminal.
- 6:16Dayna Roselli: I get, but if you're gonna have flights, I get that things can't be open 24, you know, hours a day.
- 6:22Dayna Roselli: But if you're gonna have late flights that leave at 9:30, and then if they're delayed, I don't think mine left till 10.
- 6:27Dayna Roselli: You know, this was it, whatever two hours before that was, you know, eight, 7:30 and things were closing.
- 6:34Dayna Roselli: So I was really frustrated with that.
- 6:35Dayna Roselli: So come on, Harry Reid airport.
- 6:37Dayna Roselli: Let's LAS, let's get things open a little bit longer.
- 6:41Dayna Roselli: Um, another thing that I experienced that was really easy was when I landed at Heathrow, you can now just hold your passport up to a scanner and walk right through.
- 6:51Dayna Roselli: You don't even have to interact with a person to get through customs.
- 6:54Dayna Roselli: Get customs, really.
- 6:55Dayna Roselli: It was so easy.
- 6:56Dayna Roselli: So there were people you could pick which one you wanted to go to, but this thing was super easy.
- 7:01Dayna Roselli: I literally scanned my passport, it took a picture, and I walked right through.
- 7:05Dayna Roselli: It was great.
- 7:06Sean McAllister: That's incredible.
- 7:06Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 7:07Dayna Roselli: So take advantage.
- 7:08Dayna Roselli: I did that once in the Bahamas in like 20, that might have been 2019 too, but I've never seen it anywhere else.
- 7:14Dayna Roselli: And I thought like a massive airport like that, that they wouldn't have that, but they did, and it was great.
- 7:19Dayna Roselli: So FYI, and you don't have to fill out those cards anymore.
- 7:22Dayna Roselli: Remember, you used to have to fill out a card on the plane.
- 7:25Dayna Roselli: No more.
- 7:25Dayna Roselli: So it was really easy to get in and out, and this was on both ways, um, in and out of country.
- 7:31Dayna Roselli: So that was uh something that I experienced that was a joy.
- 7:35Dayna Roselli: Uh it seems like over the last few years they've made some changes there.
- 7:38Dayna Roselli: So um, something else that I wanted to have a quick discussion about was like three different conversations I had about Las Vegas.
- 7:48Dayna Roselli: One was as I was on my plane to go to London, I was sitting next to some people and they said it was their first time in Vegas.
- 7:55Dayna Roselli: Um they were older, and I don't want to say older, but like they weren't, you know, in their 20s or anything like that.
- 8:00Dayna Roselli: Um and they said they had a great time, but they thought Vegas was really expensive.
- 8:04Dayna Roselli: And I thought, huh, that's interesting.
- 8:06Dayna Roselli: Because then we had one of our listeners uh write us from Germany saying he was in town for a couple weeks, had the best time, but that he thought it was really expensive from last time that he came.
- 8:18Dayna Roselli: Even they had like a um time in between, they were saying in two different hotels, but they had like two days in between that, where they were just gonna find another hotel.
- 8:27Dayna Roselli: And they said it was so expensive on the strip that they actually went to, I think it was the Sun Coast, and they said even that was like, I can't remember if it was uh Sunset Station or the Sun Coast, but anyway, even but they said even that they couldn't even get for under 300 bucks.
- 8:40Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 8:41Dayna Roselli: So they were saying that was kind of disappointing.
- 8:43Dayna Roselli: They said, We'll be back, we had such a great time, but it was expensive.
- 8:46Dayna Roselli: Then I was talking to one of the taxicab drivers in uh actually sorry, an Uber driver in London that was taking me to the airport, and he said the same thing that it's really expensive in Vegas lately, and that it's hard to go for those 10-day jaunts, you know, where people really make the most of their holiday um to do anymore.
- 9:06Dayna Roselli: And I'm thinking, yeah, I mean, it does add up.
- 9:08Dayna Roselli: And if you're a gambler and you're not winning, um, if you're not a gambler, you know, it's expensive restaurants and hotels and shows and stuff like that.
- 9:16Dayna Roselli: But um, if you if you do enjoy gambling and that's why you're going and you're not having a good week, it can really add up.
- 9:22Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I I think for me, I I am not very surprised to hear that.
- 9:28Sean McAllister: I feel like over the years, Las Vegas has been kind of transitioning away from that budget-friendly, you know, all you can eat buffet, the$9.99, you know, steak and shrimp dinner.
- 9:41Sean McAllister: Uh that the city as a whole has been kind of drifting away from that and moving more toward the the luxury market, right?
- 9:49Sean McAllister: With uh what's being offered for accommodations and dining as well, and retail for that matter.
- 9:57Sean McAllister: Um so yeah, I I feel like it's true.
- 10:02Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 10:02Sean McAllister: It's not getting less expensive to come to Vegas.
- 10:05Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I think we live here and we do a lot of things um on the strip, but we forget, you know, we're not staying in the hotel rooms, we're not constantly getting an$18 glass of wine and that kind of thing.
- 10:17Dayna Roselli: So if you're staying here, it is a different, you know, experience for you.
- 10:22Dayna Roselli: I would say the only time we were talked about as being budget friendly was in the middle of the pandemic when we were opened at 25-50%.
- 10:30Dayna Roselli: Remember, everyone was coming into town because they said the room deals, you'll never be able to get these deals.
- 10:35Sean McAllister: There were like$30 rooms.
- 10:37Dayna Roselli: So, I mean, if you didn't come then, you missed the boat.
- 10:40Sean McAllister: You sure did.
- 10:41Dayna Roselli: So, anyway, something to keep in mind.
- 10:43Dayna Roselli: Um, and maybe something that you and I should talk about in maybe like the next few podcasts are some things that are affordable, how to make the best of your week to mix in some expensive things and some cheaper things.
- 10:55Sean McAllister: I love that.
- 10:56Dayna Roselli: Yeah, maybe we should just think about that, concentrate, make a little list, and we could do a podcast about that.
- 11:00Sean McAllister: Done.
- 11:00Sean McAllister: So expect that in a future episode of Vegas Revealed.
- 11:04Sean McAllister: Um, speaking of budget-friendly things, yeah, I mentioned a long time ago here on the podcast uh that Shane, my husband, and I were going to see Elton John for his five fair big farewell tour, the goodbye Yellow Brick Road.
- 11:20Sean McAllister: And the tickets for that we found for$45 each at Allegiance Stadium, which I thought was a pretty darn good deal to go and see Elton John in his last show.
- 11:31Sean McAllister: Um what kind of uh surprised me is that uh during the concert while Elton was talking, he kind of uh made it sound very official like his chapter of performing in Las Vegas is over.
- 11:49Sean McAllister: You know, I know this is his farewell tour, but I think a lot of people presumed, maybe hoped, that after the tour wrapped up and he was able to chill out a little bit, that Elton John would then announce another Las Vegas residency.
- 12:06Dayna Roselli: Right, because farewell tour means he wouldn't tour anymore, but it doesn't mean he wouldn't stay put somewhere.
- 12:11Sean McAllister: Exactly, exactly.
- 12:13Sean McAllister: But take a listen to what he said uh to the audience during his Allegiance Stadium concert uh just the other night.
- 14:20Sean McAllister: So Dana, definitively the Rocket Man said that this was his final Las Vegas concert.
- 14:28Dayna Roselli: Oh boy, no more takeoff.
- 14:30Sean McAllister: No more takeoff.
- 14:31Dayna Roselli: The Rocket is back at home base.
- 14:33Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 14:34Dayna Roselli: Well, Elton's great.
- 14:35Dayna Roselli: I'm glad that you got to see him.
- 14:36Sean McAllister: The show was good, it was phenomenal.
- 14:38Sean McAllister: And you know, there's been talk about audio complaints inside Allegiant Stadium.
- 14:44Sean McAllister: Uh we saw Elton from kind of the same spot where we saw uh Garth Brooks.
- 14:49Sean McAllister: We were high up and to the left of the stage, and it was crystal clear for us.
- 14:56Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 14:57Dayna Roselli: I'm so glad to hear, and maybe they're making improvements.
- 14:59Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it could be because I know they've gotten a lot of feedback about that, and we've talked about it on past you know podcasts as well.
- 15:05Sean McAllister: Yeah, feedback is a nice word for it.
- 15:08Dayna Roselli: Hey, something uh we didn't have in, but I wanted to mention uh Taylor Swift coming to Allegiant Stadium was a big announcement this week, too.
- 15:14Dayna Roselli: Speaking of Allegiant Stadium, um, really exciting because she's stopping in Las Vegas like sooner than later in March of 2023.
- 15:23Dayna Roselli: So we're like the second stop on her tour that she's gonna be doing.
- 15:26Sean McAllister: Yeah, the Eras is what it's called.
- 15:29Sean McAllister: And Dana, you've been listening to Taylor's new album and you've been rocking out to it a little bit.
- 15:35Dayna Roselli: You don't even know.
- 15:35Dayna Roselli: Sean, on my way over today, I was like, I have listened to this album over and over.
- 15:39Dayna Roselli: I'm obsessed.
- 15:40Dayna Roselli: And I was never a Swifty, but like I think I've turned into a Swifty.
- 15:44Dayna Roselli: Like this album is so good.
- 15:46Sean McAllister: So are you gonna go to the concert?
- 15:48Dayna Roselli: So I've already pre- I've signed up for the pre, you got to do the whole what do you call it, fan nation.
- 15:53Sean McAllister: Oh, the verified fan.
- 15:54Sean McAllister: That thing.
- 15:55Dayna Roselli: I signed up.
- 15:55Dayna Roselli: So I'm gonna look at at prices and see if I get in, you know, because it's all you got to get approved and all that.
- 16:01Dayna Roselli: They told me all my instructions, November 14th.
- 16:03Dayna Roselli: I'm gonna get an email.
- 16:04Sean McAllister: Oh, so it's like Adele.
- 16:05Sean McAllister: Mm-hmm.
- 16:06Sean McAllister: It is where you had to be a verified fan and then they'll let you know if you're eligible to buy tickets.
- 16:11Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 16:12Dayna Roselli: So we'll see what happens for the pre-sale.
- 16:14Sean McAllister: Right.
- 16:14Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 16:15Dayna Roselli: So we'll see if I get in on that.
- 16:16Dayna Roselli: And even then, I might just browse at prices.
- 16:18Dayna Roselli: I don't know, because they they do say they expect this concert to sell out very quickly.
- 16:22Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 16:22Dayna Roselli: Um, so it's huge.
- 16:24Dayna Roselli: Anyway, this Midnight's album is so good.
- 16:26Dayna Roselli: At first I listened and I was like, ah, and then I listened again, and then I was packing for London and I had it kind of on loop on my Apple home pod.
- 16:34Dayna Roselli: And it just kept playing.
- 16:35Dayna Roselli: I'm like, this album is so good.
- 16:38Dayna Roselli: It's relatable, the songs are good, they're all kind of a little bit different, and I'm just I'm in love with it.
- 16:44Dayna Roselli: And I'm I'm like, oh my gosh, I need to see this show.
- 16:47Dayna Roselli: I've always liked her music.
- 16:48Dayna Roselli: Her music sticks with you no matter what.
- 16:50Dayna Roselli: You know the words, you sing it when you're driving.
- 16:52Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 16:52Dayna Roselli: But I just never really like downloaded every album.
- 16:55Dayna Roselli: It was like I'd download a song here and there.
- 16:58Dayna Roselli: But this album is killer, and she's already like this week broke some records in the singer, singer world, right?
- 17:06Dayna Roselli: She had like uh what most songs from her album in the top 100 billboard charts or something like that.
- 17:11Sean McAllister: Yeah, I think she was she Taylor Swift occupied each of the top 10 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
- 17:20Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 17:22Dayna Roselli: Great.
- 17:22Dayna Roselli: I mean, it makes sense.
- 17:24Dayna Roselli: If you listen to the album, you'll get it.
- 17:26Dayna Roselli: It's so good.
- 17:27Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 17:27Dayna Roselli: I am officially a Swifty.
- 17:29Dayna Roselli: So for this album anyway.
- 17:30Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 17:31Dayna Roselli: The Swiftness may turn off in the next album, but I I think right now I'm on board.
- 17:35Sean McAllister: Uh something else we hadn't planned to talk about, but I do want to mention Katy Perry also has added a handful of dates in the new year uh over at Resorts World with her residency play.
- 17:47Sean McAllister: So if you haven't been able to see Katy Perry yet, uh there are a bunch of dates in 2023.
- 17:53Sean McAllister: You can look that up and see if it fits into your schedule, but just wanted to mention that.
- 17:57Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 17:57Dayna Roselli: And now I'm gonna make a mention.
- 17:59Dayna Roselli: Hey, just got this press release uh yesterday or the day before about Rick Springfield doing a residency at the Strat.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 18:06Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that'll be a good one, I think.
- 18:08Dayna Roselli: I think it's only a couple days in March, but um, and I'm sure they'll add on, they always do, right?
- 18:12Dayna Roselli: Um, but I'm excited about that.
- 18:14Dayna Roselli: I think Rick's, you know, at first I thought, okay, he's got like a hit, Jesse's girl, and then I was like, wait a minute.
- 18:19Dayna Roselli: I looked him up, I'm like, no, no, no.
- 18:20Dayna Roselli: He's got tons of hits.
- 18:22Dayna Roselli: I just forget it was him singing.
- 18:23Dayna Roselli: But I think this is gonna be a good show.
- 18:25Dayna Roselli: So I'm excited for that.
- 18:26Dayna Roselli: Rick Springfield at the Strat.
- 18:28Dayna Roselli: I think it's two days in March.
- 18:30Dayna Roselli: Um, if you want to buy tickets, I believe they go on sale actually soon, like this week, November fourth.
- 18:39Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I think like we're we're recording this on a Friday or Thursday, so November 4th, the Friday before we air the podcast.
- 18:45Dayna Roselli: So they're on sale.
- 18:46Sean McAllister: And a lot of good music there.
- 18:47Sean McAllister: So I have a feeling Rick Springfield is gonna do pretty darn well.
- 18:51Sean McAllister: Um, Awakening, the new uh one-of-a-kind immersive spectacle opening over at Win Las Vegas uh is opening on Monday, November 7th.
- 19:04Sean McAllister: We just wanted to mention that.
- 19:06Sean McAllister: Dana and I are both going to that show.
- 19:09Sean McAllister: Yeah, and we'll next episode we'll dive into uh uh that entire experience because I have a feeling it is going to be an experience.
- 19:20Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 19:21Dayna Roselli: Well, and it's uh narrated by Anthony Hopkins, which I'm looking forward to seeing how that's gonna work and wha how what story he's going to tell and all that.
- 19:29Dayna Roselli: And I know you did kind of a little behind the scenes shoot and interview for Vegas on.
- 19:34Dayna Roselli: Uh so we'll talk more about that at a later date once that airs.
- 19:37Dayna Roselli: And then we had mentioned last week that we were gonna talk about Shim Lim, the magician, right at Mirage, but that episode hasn't aired yet either.
- 19:44Dayna Roselli: So we'll talk about both of those in future podcasts.
- 19:47Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 19:47Sean McAllister: Put a pin in those.
- 19:48Dayna Roselli: Put a pin.
- 19:49Sean McAllister: Uh also we had a pretty delectable dinner.
- 19:55Dayna Roselli: We did.
- 19:56Dayna Roselli: I tried things I haven't tried before at this dinner, by the way.
- 19:59Sean McAllister: Same as me too.
- 20:00Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 20:01Dayna Roselli: You and I did uh pass the plate dinner at Scotch 80.
- 20:04Dayna Roselli: We were picked as the inaugural hosts of this.
- 20:06Dayna Roselli: It was you and I.
- 20:07Dayna Roselli: We had to pick four friends, four or five?
- 20:10Dayna Roselli: Four friends.
- 20:11Sean McAllister: A total of six, yeah.
- 20:12Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and have a dinner at Scotch 80 at the Palm.
- 20:15Dayna Roselli: So we said, okay, sign us up.
- 20:16Dayna Roselli: Why not?
- 20:17Dayna Roselli: And then we tried a bunch of different things from the chef, and then we passed the plate on to someone that was attending our dinner, and now they will go and do the same thing.
- 20:26Dayna Roselli: So it's kind of this series of dinners.
- 20:29Dayna Roselli: But Scotch 80 was opened before the pandemic at the Palms.
- 20:34Dayna Roselli: It reopened when the Palms reopened as well.
- 20:38Dayna Roselli: Uh what, six months ago now, probably.
- 20:41Dayna Roselli: Like, yeah, six months ago, something like that.
- 20:43Dayna Roselli: Uh recently, more the more recent hotel to open after the pandemic.
- 20:47Sean McAllister: Yeah, I guess it was like April-ish, right?
- 20:48Sean McAllister: Yeah, right.
- 20:49Sean McAllister: Something like that.
- 20:50Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 20:50Dayna Roselli: So we were excited Scotch 80 was back.
- 20:52Dayna Roselli: You and I hadn't been back there.
- 20:53Dayna Roselli: So when we got this invite, we said we definitely gotta go.
- 20:56Dayna Roselli: And what a meal we had.
- 20:57Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh.
- 20:58Sean McAllister: The courses just kept coming and coming and coming.
- 21:03Sean McAllister: Uh Chef Marty Lopez is the the head honcho over at the kitchen at Scotch 80.
- 21:10Sean McAllister: And he came over and talked to us.
- 21:12Sean McAllister: He was like, you know, uh you can order what you want, but I also want to send out some seasonal things that are uh, you know, in the kitchen just right now while the ingredients are available.
- 21:25Sean McAllister: So you know in addition to what you guys order, there might be a couple other things that come out too.
- 21:30Sean McAllister: Well, that was an understatement.
- 21:33Sean McAllister: We had a full table and full bellies.
- 21:36Dayna Roselli: That seafood appetizer that we had, and it was like flaming, right?
- 21:40Dayna Roselli: It was like cooking the lobster.
- 21:42Dayna Roselli: I don't know what was going on, but it was delicious.
- 21:44Sean McAllister: So uh they have two different versions of a sea t seafood tower available.
- 21:50Sean McAllister: They have the traditional cold version that you would normally find at a steakhouse or high-end restaurant, but they also have a hot Seafood tower.
- 22:01Sean McAllister: And that's what we got.
- 22:02Dayna Roselli: That was good.
- 22:03Sean McAllister: And especially for the oysters, they were phenomenal.
- 22:11Dayna Roselli: Really good.
- 22:11Sean McAllister: Because they were just a little bit warmed up from the fire.
- 22:14Sean McAllister: I like that.
- 22:15Sean McAllister: They'd just been burning there.
- 22:17Sean McAllister: And oh, they just had so much flavor.
- 22:20Sean McAllister: And the crab and the lobster.
- 22:23Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh.
- 22:24Dayna Roselli: We had an incredible, like delectable mac and cheese dish that was great.
- 22:30Dayna Roselli: And then we had that brie dip.
- 22:32Sean McAllister: Oh, that's right.
- 22:33Sean McAllister: Red dip.
- 22:33Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh, that was amazing.
- 22:35Dayna Roselli: And then you and I, I don't know, I tried the snail.
- 22:37Dayna Roselli: Did you?
- 22:37Dayna Roselli: I've never had a lot of.
- 22:38Sean McAllister: I tried a snail.
- 22:39Sean McAllister: The escargot.
- 22:39Sean McAllister: Escargo.
- 22:40Dayna Roselli: Oh yeah, escargot is a fancy name.
- 22:42Dayna Roselli: I forgot.
- 22:42Dayna Roselli: It can't take me anywhere.
- 22:44Sean McAllister: We were eating cows and snails.
- 22:46Dayna Roselli: And then bone marrow, which I actually have never had.
- 22:49Dayna Roselli: And I was iffy on if I wanted to.
- 22:51Dayna Roselli: And I tried it and it was good.
- 22:52Dayna Roselli: I don't know, bone, it's not really my thing, but I know that people love it.
- 22:55Sean McAllister: Oh, yeah.
- 22:56Sean McAllister: It was good.
- 22:56Sean McAllister: That's a big thing.
- 22:58Dayna Roselli: So I tried some things that I had never tried before.
- 23:00Sean McAllister: Yeah, we had the giant tomahawk steak that came over to the table.
- 23:05Sean McAllister: Um my gosh.
- 23:07Dayna Roselli: Our friend Stacy is vegan.
- 23:10Sean McAllister: Right.
- 23:10Dayna Roselli: She didn't want the meat, so she had the salmon, which Chef recommended and said it was one of the most popular dishes and delicious.
- 23:17Dayna Roselli: And she loved it.
- 23:18Dayna Roselli: She loved the salmon.
- 23:20Dayna Roselli: So if you're, you know, wanting to go there and you think, oh, it's a steakhouse, I'm not going to find anything.
- 23:25Dayna Roselli: No, they have good fish too.
- 23:26Sean McAllister: We had a variety of desserts and hot and cold espresso martinis.
- 23:33Dayna Roselli: We did.
- 23:34Dayna Roselli: Those were good too.
- 23:34Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 23:35Dayna Roselli: We had a fabulous time.
- 23:37Dayna Roselli: If you get a chance, go to Scotch 80 at the Palms.
- 23:40Dayna Roselli: The decor inside is beautiful.
- 23:42Dayna Roselli: The staff was great.
- 23:43Dayna Roselli: The table captain Rick, he was great.
- 23:45Sean McAllister: He was.
- 23:46Sean McAllister: He was terrific.
- 23:47Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 23:47Dayna Roselli: Speaking of putting a pin in it, he found me a safety clip, remember?
- 23:51Sean McAllister: Oh, he did.
- 23:52Sean McAllister: You literally put a pin in it.
- 23:54Dayna Roselli: Um, yeah, he I was like, this little button thing in the back of my outfit was just kept coming undone.
- 24:00Dayna Roselli: And I was like, I really was looking for a safety pin.
- 24:02Dayna Roselli: He was like, hold on, I'll be right back.
- 24:03Dayna Roselli: So I mean, they were helpful.
- 24:05Sean McAllister: Very helpful in many ways with the menu, too.
- 24:08Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 24:09Dayna Roselli: Um, go check out Scotch 80.
- 24:10Dayna Roselli: It's at the Palms, one of the many restaurants inside the Palms.
- 24:13Dayna Roselli: They have great restaurants over there.
- 24:15Dayna Roselli: You just went to one.
- 24:16Dayna Roselli: And oh my gosh, yeah, we didn't even talk about this.
- 24:18Dayna Roselli: This was when I was in London.
- 24:20Dayna Roselli: We didn't even have this on the list.
- 24:21Dayna Roselli: You went to Vetri.
- 24:22Sean McAllister: Vetri Cucina at the top of the palm.
- 24:24Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 24:24Dayna Roselli: How was that?
- 24:25Sean McAllister: Oh, it so, first of all, Vetri Cucina, top of the palms, one of the best and most unique views in all of Las Vegas.
- 24:34Sean McAllister: You have a 180-degree view of the Las Vegas Strip.
- 24:38Sean McAllister: Very intimate, so nice.
- 24:40Sean McAllister: The food is phenomenal.
- 24:44Sean McAllister: We spoke with uh chef Mark Vetri uh several podcasts ago.
- 24:48Sean McAllister: You can search back and and look for that.
- 24:51Sean McAllister: Um, but he's like classic Italian Philly are his roots, and he has Vetri Cucina at the top of the palms.
- 25:00Sean McAllister: It was fantastic.
- 25:02Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's a great restaurant.
- 25:04Dayna Roselli: Glad that that returned as well, right?
- 25:06Dayna Roselli: Um, and it just it is a great, great view.
- 25:10Dayna Roselli: And people that come to Las Vegas, we say this over and over.
- 25:14Dayna Roselli: You think, oh, the palms is off the strip, I'm not gonna go there.
- 25:16Dayna Roselli: Yeah, but if you want a view of the entire strip, go to the palms, you know.
- 25:21Sean McAllister: And you can make an evening of it.
- 25:23Sean McAllister: You can.
- 25:23Sean McAllister: I mean, they there's entertainment over there, terrific restaurants.
- 25:28Sean McAllister: Then you can, you know, go up to Ghost Bar and have a post-dinner cocktail and kind of get the party vibe going up there as the night goes on.
- 25:38Sean McAllister: It really is a great spot.
- 25:40Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it is.
- 25:41Dayna Roselli: Um, I wanted to switch gears quickly and just touch on the When We Were Young festival because we talked about this festival that was super popular.
- 25:49Dayna Roselli: They started with selling one day, it sold out immediately, they had to add another.
- 25:53Dayna Roselli: Uh, that sold out immediately, and then they added another the following weekend.
- 25:57Dayna Roselli: So uh the sad part about this festival was that it was the one day that we had some really bad wind blow in, and they had to cancel the festival on the first day, let very last minute.
- 26:09Dayna Roselli: And we know that they've already announced the lineup for for next year.
- 26:13Dayna Roselli: And so if you're thinking about going, there was a lot of discussion about, you know, was this fair and this and that?
- 26:19Dayna Roselli: And like, here's the deal.
- 26:19Dayna Roselli: It was the weather.
- 26:20Dayna Roselli: There's nothing you can do, safety first, right?
- 26:22Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 26:22Dayna Roselli: But so you're like, well, why were people complaining?
- 26:24Dayna Roselli: It's like, well, people did come in for this festival specifically, so they were frustrated.
- 26:30Dayna Roselli: Um, and they felt like I was looking at some of like, what's their argument that they're so angry at the festival, the people that were.
- 26:37Dayna Roselli: And it was like they were basically saying that they felt like the forecast kind of called for the wind and they should have planned accordingly, maybe canceled earlier or had like a space indoors.
- 26:48Dayna Roselli: But I just want to say I saw them putting this whole festival grounds together, and it was like a good week and a half, two weeks to construct the site for stages.
- 26:57Sean McAllister: I mean, that's a massive footprint.
- 27:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 27:00Sean McAllister: And there were stages, audio, lights, all of it.
- 27:04Sean McAllister: And it does, it takes a lot of time to put put the grounds together.
- 27:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 27:08Dayna Roselli: So it wouldn't just have been just an easy thing to do, you know.
- 27:12Dayna Roselli: And you can't plan in here, anyway, two weeks out, we don't know if it's going to be windy on a Saturday.
- 27:18Dayna Roselli: So uh so there was that.
- 27:20Dayna Roselli: And then I do understand people were frustrated, and boy, they just really got.
- 27:24Dayna Roselli: I felt bad for the people who bought tickets for the first.
- 27:27Dayna Roselli: That that whatever that is, yeah.
- 27:30Dayna Roselli: Um I felt bad because here's the deal.
- 27:33Dayna Roselli: This wasn't a festival that was like three days of changing groups.
- 27:37Dayna Roselli: It was the same festival every day.
- 27:40Dayna Roselli: So the people who had bought the first day and were the ones who got it to sell out, which caused other days getting added, they were the ones who missed out because the other two days were sold out.
- 27:54Dayna Roselli: So they couldn't squeeze them in.
- 27:56Dayna Roselli: So the Sunday and the five, they still got their festival.
- 28:00Dayna Roselli: And the people who basically sold out the first day were the ones that couldn't go.
- 28:05Dayna Roselli: So I did, I felt bad for them.
- 28:08Dayna Roselli: The cool part is a lot of the bands that were in town did pop-up shows at local places.
- 28:13Dayna Roselli: And I thought that was great indoors.
- 28:15Dayna Roselli: And so people were traveling around and watching some of the bands at different bars and restaurants.
- 28:20Dayna Roselli: I love that they did that.
- 28:21Dayna Roselli: Some of them organized, like, hey, meet us at the link, we're gonna sign autographs, we're gonna take pictures.
- 28:25Dayna Roselli: And so hopefully the people that did miss out had a good experience anyway.
- 28:28Sean McAllister: Yeah, because there were things that that popped up as a result of the festival canceling, so that, you know, maybe you could go and see your favorite band still.
- 28:39Sean McAllister: And it was really kind of cool to see uh all the cooperation at work um, you know, on the part of the bands and other properties on and around the strip to, you know, get those bands up on stage and in front of fans.
- 28:55Sean McAllister: That was a cool thing to see.
- 28:57unknown: Yeah.
- 28:57Sean McAllister: Although, you know, that came at the cost of the cancellation.
- 29:02Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 29:03Dayna Roselli: So something positive I'm gonna say about this festival.
- 29:05Dayna Roselli: I love across the street.
- 29:06Dayna Roselli: This is the first time out of all the festivals that have been there that I've actually heard all the people in the crowd sing the words to literally every song.
- 29:15Dayna Roselli: Really?
- 29:16Dayna Roselli: I mean, it was, I must say, like I had chills, like the the crowd there, they knew the words, they chanted the words, I mean, to the whole song.
- 29:24Dayna Roselli: And I was like, wow, and I recognize a lot of the songs too.
- 29:27Dayna Roselli: And I was like, this is incredible.
- 29:29Dayna Roselli: And another thing is, is I could actually hear the bands really well this time.
- 29:34Dayna Roselli: A lot of times you just hear kind of a thumping, and I don't know if it's because a lot of them are um bands at whatever, a little bit more bass or yeah, more techno, that kind of thing through the years with the festivals that go on there.
- 29:45Dayna Roselli: But I could hear the words, the bands sounded incredible, and the crowd just chanted every song.
- 29:51Dayna Roselli: I mean, there were bands there, like we've gone through this before, like, you know, Errol Levine was there and Dashboard Confessional.
- 30:01Dayna Roselli: Am I saying that right?
- 30:02Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 30:02unknown: Okay.
- 30:03Dayna Roselli: Lots of bands, I can't think off the top of my head, tons of recognizable bands from the early 2000s.
- 30:08Dayna Roselli: So everyone knew the words, and it was really great to hear.
- 30:12Dayna Roselli: I loved it.
- 30:12Dayna Roselli: And I think if you are thinking about going next year and you're into this kind of music, and it seemed like a really great experience, and people just loved it.
- 30:21Sean McAllister: Very cool.
- 30:22Sean McAllister: Uh, just wanted to throw this in there.
- 30:25Sean McAllister: Uh, it was just announced comedian Fortune Feemster is going to be performing for one night at Win Las Vegas.
- 30:33Sean McAllister: Uh, she also has a new comedy special that just dropped on Netflix that I just watched, and she is so funny.
- 30:42Dayna Roselli: Really?
- 30:42Dayna Roselli: I've never seen her.
- 30:43Sean McAllister: Absolutely hilarious.
- 30:45Sean McAllister: Now, if you don't know who she is, remember uh Chelsea Hanler had her show oh yeah, uh her late night show.
- 30:52Sean McAllister: Fortune was one of the regular guests, one of Chelsea's you know, group of funny people who was uh always on that show.
- 31:02Sean McAllister: So she's hilarious.
- 31:04Sean McAllister: Um, look up tickets to see Fortune Themster for one night only at the win.
- 31:09Dayna Roselli: All right, let's talk pizza now.
- 31:11Dayna Roselli: This is a first food group.
- 31:14Dayna Roselli: Favorite food group, and I love spicy.
- 31:16Dayna Roselli: So, but reading this, I'm like, I don't know if I could do it.
- 31:20Dayna Roselli: So evil pie.
- 31:22Sean McAllister: Yeah, but this is downtown Las Vegas.
- 31:24Dayna Roselli: Downtown Las Vegas, yeah.
- 31:25Dayna Roselli: They have added the spiciest pizza in the world to their menu, okay?
- 31:30Dayna Roselli: So they announced a new pizza that aims to top all other hot food challenges.
- 31:37Dayna Roselli: It's called the Reaper.
- 31:39Dayna Roselli: This is a five-alarm spicy pie made with habanero chili sauce, chili pepper infused mozzarella, sriracha marinated chorizo sausage, Carolina Reaper chili oil, and sliced habanero peppers.
- 32:02Dayna Roselli: It is only available in the restaurant, and apparently it's served flaming, literally.
- 32:11Dayna Roselli: So you and I were discussing this, and we're like, now we like spicy and we like a good challenge, but I don't think I could do this.
- 32:19Sean McAllister: I'm curious.
- 32:20Sean McAllister: I I would like to take a bite of it.
- 32:23Dayna Roselli: Yes, me too.
- 32:24Sean McAllister: But this challenge, you have to eat three slices within 30 minutes.
- 32:32Dayna Roselli: And here's what you get: you receive a specially designed Don't Fear the Reaper t-shirt, social media shout outs, and your name carved into a plaque on the wall of legends.
- 32:42Dayna Roselli: FYI, though, a legal waiver must be signed before participating in the challenge.
- 32:48Sean McAllister: If okay, so here's my thing.
- 32:51Sean McAllister: I don't think that if I need to sign a legal waiver, I'm going to be participating in a, especially for a food eating contest.
- 32:58Sean McAllister: But there are plenty a chainsaw juggling contest.
- 33:01Sean McAllister: I get it.
- 33:04Dayna Roselli: That would be.
- 33:04Sean McAllister: So is this as dangerous as a chainsaw juggling contest?
- 33:07Dayna Roselli: I mean, probably.
- 33:08Dayna Roselli: I mean, listen, we have some haunted houses during Halloween time that you have to sign waivers to go into.
- 33:12Dayna Roselli: They're so scary.
- 33:13Sean McAllister: I won't do those either.
- 33:14Dayna Roselli: I know, me either.
- 33:14Dayna Roselli: No, you're right.
- 33:15Dayna Roselli: But here's the deal: there are people out there, plenty of them, that will sign a waiver and do this.
- 33:20Dayna Roselli: I know it.
- 33:21Sean McAllister: TV shows and web series that are based off the concept.
- 33:24Sean McAllister: So yeah.
- 33:25Dayna Roselli: Here's what I want like someone to send us a tweet or a message or something if they're if they're gonna go do this.
- 33:30Dayna Roselli: Because I want to watch.
- 33:32Dayna Roselli: I want to watch this go down.
- 33:34Dayna Roselli: I really, really do.
- 33:36Dayna Roselli: Um, I'm not doing it, you're not doing it, but we might need to go over there and at least try a slice.
- 33:41Sean McAllister: I would like to try a slice.
- 33:42Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 33:43Dayna Roselli: So, anyway, everyone, evil pie, uh, downtown Las Vegas.
- 33:48Dayna Roselli: Go check it out.
- 33:49Dayna Roselli: It's$49.99 for a full pie.
- 33:54Sean McAllister: So it's a commitment.
- 33:56Dayna Roselli: It's a commitment.
- 33:57Sean McAllister: This is a commitment.
- 33:59Sean McAllister: Uh, by the way, Evil Pie is run by the family of Evil Knievel, the famous stunt man.
- 34:05Sean McAllister: So that's why it's called Evil Pie.
- 34:07Dayna Roselli: I love that.
- 34:07Dayna Roselli: And they do a lot of stuff for charity and always come forward when things are going on in Las Vegas and they they they've always come forward to really help out the community.
- 34:16Dayna Roselli: So I love that.
- 34:17Dayna Roselli: So maybe they deserve for you to go try their three slices.
- 34:21Dayna Roselli: All right, let's do some tips.
- 34:28Sean McAllister: Dana, you know how uh, you know, as Las Vegas residents, when friends or family come into town, you always get the call, hey, let's meet up somewhere, let's do something.
- 34:39Sean McAllister: So this was one of those situations.
- 34:42Sean McAllister: Our friend Steve and his wife came to town from Colorado.
- 34:45Sean McAllister: Um, by the way, Steve is a regular Vegas Revealed listener.
- 34:49Sean McAllister: So hi, hi Steve.
- 34:51Sean McAllister: Hey, Steve.
- 34:51Sean McAllister: Um, and they said, Hey, would you guys like to join us uh for this magic show?
- 34:56Sean McAllister: It's called The Magician's Study.
- 35:00Sean McAllister: Um, and we had heard about this show before, but never really heard anything about it uh from anybody who'd uh gone to see it before.
- 35:12Sean McAllister: Um It was phenomenal.
- 35:15Sean McAllister: Yeah, it was so good.
- 35:18Sean McAllister: So, first of all, when you the website to get tickets is themagicians study dot com.
- 35:25Sean McAllister: Um and in order to buy tickets, you need to like pick up on clues on the website.
- 35:30Sean McAllister: So you can't just like go there, click the purchase button.
- 35:33Sean McAllister: You you have to do a little work and and test your brain um in order to get into the little ticket buying portal.
- 35:41Sean McAllister: But it was such I'm not I don't want to say even where it is, because that's part of the mystery of this show.
- 35:49Sean McAllister: You don't know who the magician is and everything on the website, he's wearing a a white rabbit's mask um which he wore to start the show and then revealed his face.
- 36:01Sean McAllister: Um but it was in there were maybe 40 people uh in in the this little parlor area, and it was all up close magic, all card tricks, all uh things vanishing and then uh showing up in the most random places and it was so much fun.
- 36:24Sean McAllister: And the magician is also, I have to believe he has some improv comedy background too, because his interactions with the crowd were uh absolutely hilarious.
- 36:37Sean McAllister: I I laughed uh almost the entire time.
- 36:41Sean McAllister: Okay, so this with tears coming out of my face.
- 36:43Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh, so this is like uh really something unique and different and and good to do completely.
- 36:49Sean McAllister: I highly recommend it.
- 36:51Sean McAllister: It's themagiciansstudy.com, and you will be blown away.
- 36:57Sean McAllister: Like the last trick is going to blow your mind.
- 37:02Sean McAllister: And I'm still thinking about it, and like it was a few weeks ago that that we went.
- 37:07Dayna Roselli: Wow, wow, it was great.
- 37:09Sean McAllister: Cannot say enough good things about this experience.
- 37:11Dayna Roselli: I love it.
- 37:12Dayna Roselli: How fun.
- 37:12Dayna Roselli: What's that website again?
- 37:14Sean McAllister: Themagiciansstudy.com.
- 37:17Sean McAllister: And by the way, um, they're sold out, their shows are sold out through the rest of the year.
- 37:21Sean McAllister: Oh, they just opened up new show dates in April, May, and June of 2023.
