- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Playfake, go to roll right, dumps it off into the
- 0:07Speaker 2: right flat to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off of one
- 0:10Speaker 2: tackler cats inside the forty down of the thirty five
- 0:13Speaker 2: yard line.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Matt pumpfake's looking at the gold line. He throws it
- 0:17Speaker 2: into the m zone.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Touchdown Sea Hawks.
- 0:20Speaker 3: It's Michael Bumpas.
- 0:21Speaker 4: With a diving catching the end zone, a ten yard
- 0:24Speaker 4: touchdown reception for Bumpers, and the kid out of Washington
- 0:28Speaker 4: State has found himself a place.
- 0:30Speaker 3: On this team.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Now here's your host, NASA Jobie.
- 0:34Speaker 5: Welcome and welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk. Yes
- 0:38Speaker 5: talking about a Seahawks victory. Bump the Seahawks taking down
- 0:40Speaker 5: the Falcons thirty four to fourteen.
- 0:42Speaker 3: The moon needed this.
- 0:44Speaker 6: It's been a little bit.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been it feels like a month.
- 0:46Speaker 7: I know, it's like we probably just hit the month,
- 0:49Speaker 7: but it feels like it's been a long time.
- 0:51Speaker 5: It's a different feeling, man. I mean, I think maybe
- 0:53Speaker 5: that's my own energy. Maybe because I look at it
- 0:55Speaker 5: with a bat, I get naked and all that stuff,
- 0:57Speaker 5: But it's so much nicer to come in with the
- 0:59Speaker 5: fresh week, back on track, most importantly, back in first place.
- 1:04Speaker 7: First place in the division. Baby nin er siga ls
- 1:06Speaker 7: had the Chiefs. I'm sure we'll touch on that in
- 1:07Speaker 7: a little bit, but yeah, back on top of like that.
- 1:10Speaker 5: No, and it feels good. And for Seahawk fans out
- 1:11Speaker 5: there also, it was a nice one because we didn't sweat. Yeah,
- 1:14Speaker 5: we weren't sweating out there. We felt good about it.
- 1:16Speaker 5: The Seahawks team was in control from start to finish.
- 1:19Speaker 5: I'd love to see that Seahawks improving to eighteen and
- 1:21Speaker 5: five at those ten am starts on the road.
- 1:24Speaker 6: But let's waste no more time. Let's get right into
- 1:26Speaker 6: that game. What it happened.
- 1:28Speaker 1: See what happened at first, what happened was what had
- 1:32Speaker 1: happened was on Hawk Talk.
- 1:34Speaker 5: Seahawks got things going on their first drive, going eleven
- 1:37Speaker 5: plays fifty six yards, had to settle for a field
- 1:39Speaker 5: goal after ken Walker touchdown was called back after a
- 1:43Speaker 5: questionable hole in aj burner.
- 1:44Speaker 6: They called it, it's what it was. Seahawks had to
- 1:47Speaker 6: settle for three Ricky.
- 1:47Speaker 7: Gonna learn all right, all right though it wasn't egregious, No,
- 1:51Speaker 7: it was agreed.
- 1:51Speaker 5: It's as Ray was talking about it. It's tough sometimes
- 1:53Speaker 5: when you're not sure we're running back getting go, he
- 1:55Speaker 5: cuts back, you're already blocking one way. Anyway, Jason Myers
- 1:59Speaker 5: had his back. We get a little field goal and
- 2:00Speaker 5: then the next two drive would end in punts. Before
- 2:03Speaker 5: the Falcons will put together an eleven play drive going
- 2:05Speaker 5: fifty yards, but young Hoku would miss a fifty four
- 2:08Speaker 5: yard field goal. He's been pretty damn good the last
- 2:10Speaker 5: couple of years, so that was huge. The Falcons walk
- 2:12Speaker 5: away with no points on that drive. Then the Seahawks
- 2:15Speaker 5: would finally get into the end zone on the next drive,
- 2:17Speaker 5: going five plays fifty six yards, ending with a twenty
- 2:20Speaker 5: yard touchdown run from ken Walker, who we're gonna talk
- 2:23Speaker 5: about later. Was a g for what he did on
- 2:25Speaker 5: today was bat him through it. It was his flu game.
- 2:27Speaker 5: But that made the score ten nothing, yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Ten zero.
- 2:30Speaker 7: Way to bounce back and go for ken Walker to
- 2:32Speaker 7: get his touchdown back. You know, snashed away, you went
- 2:35Speaker 7: and got back the Falcons. They would answer right back
- 2:38Speaker 7: with a nice drive of their own, nine plays seventy
- 2:40Speaker 7: yards in it with a Jon Robinson five yard touchdown,
- 2:43Speaker 7: bringing a score to ten to seven.
- 2:44Speaker 3: We knew they weren't just gonna go away. They got
- 2:46Speaker 3: some weapons over there.
- 2:47Speaker 7: After two straight punts, the Seahawks will find the end
- 2:49Speaker 7: zone again. The Hawks got the ball with one minute
- 2:52Speaker 7: left and seven seconds remaining in the half, with no timeouts.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Gino would lead.
- 2:56Speaker 7: A sixth place sixty eight yard drive ending with a
- 3:00Speaker 7: dime to dk Metcalfee was a thirty one yard touchdown
- 3:03Speaker 7: between two defenders. Nice cover to Tampa. We'll touch on
- 3:06Speaker 7: that a little bit later. That made the score seventeen
- 3:08Speaker 7: to seven going in at halftime. Then the Falcons come out,
- 3:12Speaker 7: though I'm like hindsight, I can respect it, you know,
- 3:14Speaker 7: because now I'm not in the game, and I'm looking
- 3:16Speaker 7: at the Falcons and I go all right to see
- 3:17Speaker 7: all y'all respond. They come out and they go down
- 3:20Speaker 7: the field fourteen plays, seventy nine yards. They go forward
- 3:23Speaker 7: on fourth down, they find Drake London in the end zone.
- 3:26Speaker 7: Kurt was seven for seven on that drive. That made
- 3:28Speaker 7: it seventeen to fourteen. And you feel like you're in
- 3:31Speaker 7: a fight right now.
- 3:31Speaker 5: Yeah, no question about it. The Falcons definitely weren't gonna
- 3:34Speaker 5: stay down for long. That was a really impressive drive.
- 3:36Speaker 5: You mentioned it, Kirk Cousins. But the Seahawks team, they're relentless.
- 3:41Speaker 5: They are, you know, at least every time this year,
- 3:45Speaker 5: anytime things have gotten closer, they've gotten down, They've been
- 3:47Speaker 5: super resilient and come right back. This was no different.
- 3:50Speaker 5: Seahawks offense would score once again right down the field.
- 3:52Speaker 5: As you know, Smith would connect with Ken Walker for
- 3:54Speaker 5: another touchdown, a great twenty yard reception over the show
- 3:57Speaker 5: Old He was a receiver, straight receiver, making it look
- 4:00Speaker 5: two weasy seeks go back up by ten, making the
- 4:02Speaker 5: score twenty four to fourteen. Both teams would trade punts
- 4:06Speaker 5: in the next few possessions before the Seahawks would deliver the
- 4:08Speaker 5: game ceiling blow. Kirk Cousins drop back to pass was
- 4:11Speaker 5: strip sacked by Boy Mafy and Derek Hall picked it
- 4:13Speaker 5: up for thirty six yard touchdown and that made to
- 4:15Speaker 5: score thirty one to fourteen.
- 4:17Speaker 6: We'll touch on that play a little later as well.
- 4:18Speaker 5: Bump, but I don't know if it's been fixed yet,
- 4:20Speaker 5: But if you go to ESPN dot com and even
- 4:23Speaker 5: NFL GSIS, it keeps saying that Derek called a sixty
- 4:25Speaker 5: four yard touchdown return really.
- 4:27Speaker 6: And I go, hold on, am I tripping?
- 4:29Speaker 5: And then I look back, I'm like, no, he picks
- 4:31Speaker 5: up the ball on the thirty six.
- 4:32Speaker 6: Yeah, but I think they had it on the other
- 4:34Speaker 6: thirty six.
- 4:34Speaker 7: Okay, Well, for his contract and incentive purposes, I hope
- 4:37Speaker 7: they keep it at sixty four because who knows what
- 4:40Speaker 7: his contract says. As far as you know, Yard is
- 4:42Speaker 7: on sacks and returns and whatnot, So keep it sick.
- 4:44Speaker 6: He ran it at sixty four. I mean, I don't
- 4:46Speaker 6: get wrong.
- 4:46Speaker 5: I'm not trying to take yards out of his you know, yeah,
- 4:49Speaker 5: contract pockets, all that stuff.
- 4:51Speaker 6: I'm not doing that.
- 4:52Speaker 5: I'm just saying I thought I was tripping because I'm like,
- 4:54Speaker 5: did he run sixteen?
- 4:55Speaker 4: No?
- 4:55Speaker 3: He definitely didn't.
- 4:56Speaker 5: But that made to score thirty one to fourteen, bump
- 4:58Speaker 5: and it was pretty much it from then on.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:00Speaker 7: Next two Possessions of the Falcons of wo end in
- 5:03Speaker 7: their possession to turnovers. Kirk Cousins was picked off by
- 5:06Speaker 7: Julian Love and Kobe Bryant. Happy for Julian Love, even
- 5:10Speaker 7: happier for Kobe Bryant because the start of his career
- 5:12Speaker 7: has been great. Then he kind of faded away a
- 5:14Speaker 7: little bit with injuries. Got him back on the field.
- 5:16Speaker 7: Jason Myers will also add a fifty nine yard field though,
- 5:18Speaker 7: to make the score thirty four to fourteen fifty nine.
- 5:21Speaker 7: They lined up and it was probably good from sixty seven,
- 5:24Speaker 7: like he had a boot on that thing. Man, it
- 5:27Speaker 7: looked good. It looked good. So I was happy for
- 5:29Speaker 7: Myers and happy for Julian and of course Kobe.
- 5:32Speaker 5: Yeah, and another thing that's been huge for the Seahawks
- 5:34Speaker 5: recently is takeaways. Right the Seahawks, it's been hard to
- 5:38Speaker 5: come by. So they had three in the first game
- 5:40Speaker 5: and then won in the last five games.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, that's tough. That's tough.
- 5:44Speaker 6: So that changed on Sunday.
- 5:45Speaker 5: Seox had not one, not two, but three takeaways, which
- 5:48Speaker 5: was great. And the Seahawks, you mentioned it, they were
- 5:50Speaker 5: without starting quarters Equel and Trey Brown, Rashon Jenkins with
- 5:54Speaker 5: tackle stone force lights. So now you're at your third
- 5:56Speaker 5: or fourth option to tackle. But it's a true next up,
- 5:59Speaker 5: next up mentally, and they everyone stepped up to the play.
- 6:02Speaker 5: Michael Darrell, Josh Joe Neam, Pritchett, Kobe Bryant, you mentioned
- 6:06Speaker 5: all making plays all over the field, so I was
- 6:08Speaker 5: really good to see that.
- 6:09Speaker 7: Yeah, youngsters, man Michael Drew was interested, and everything you
- 6:13Speaker 7: keep hearing about Michael Durell is that he's extremely athletic.
- 6:18Speaker 7: Josh job can Live didn't know he was on the roster,
- 6:20Speaker 7: didn't know that the Hawks had picked him up. Glad
- 6:22Speaker 7: they did because he showed up and two nine was
- 6:25Speaker 7: out there playing.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Man.
- 6:25Speaker 7: Come on some pass breakups. It was nice man. And
- 6:29Speaker 7: the run defense was an issue for the Seahawks. Hec
- 6:31Speaker 7: times this season. It looked like it was going to
- 6:33Speaker 7: be that problem again on Sunday. The Falcons running back
- 6:35Speaker 7: but Sean Robinson and Title Iger Are combined for one
- 6:38Speaker 7: hundred and seventeen yards on fifteen carries in the first half.
- 6:41Speaker 7: After halftime, the two matters just twenty two yards on
- 6:44Speaker 7: six carries before the Falcons had to get pass heavy
- 6:46Speaker 7: while chasing a double digit deficit.
- 6:49Speaker 3: The Hawks picked up to win three in a row.
- 6:51Speaker 3: Was a lost.
- 6:52Speaker 7: It was hard in this building for a little bit,
- 6:54Speaker 7: but they went down south got it done.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Happy for him, No, absolutely, And I went on a
- 6:58Speaker 5: limb last week saying it was gonna look a lot better.
- 7:00Speaker 6: You did, And I still think I'm right.
- 7:01Speaker 5: I wasn't like one thousand percent, right, So they still
- 7:04Speaker 5: had some success in runn game, the Falcons did, yeah,
- 7:06Speaker 5: but the Seahawks shut him out in the second half,
- 7:08Speaker 5: and the Seahawks as a team ran for over one
- 7:09Speaker 5: hundred yards. Was a far cry in the Giants in
- 7:12Speaker 5: the forty nine ers game. So good to see them
- 7:14Speaker 5: getting back on track and those you know. But what
- 7:17Speaker 5: I love about this next segment is when we win,
- 7:19Speaker 5: there's a lot of play, a.
- 7:21Speaker 6: Lot of love to go around. Playmakers, touchdown.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Playmakers to him.
- 7:29Speaker 6: What time it is holy.
- 7:34Speaker 5: We'll start with our quarterback Geno Smith. Eighteen of twenty eight,
- 7:37Speaker 5: two hundred seven yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions. QB rating
- 7:40Speaker 5: of one to ten, the highest on the season. And
- 7:43Speaker 5: here's what really stuck out to me, Bump. This was
- 7:45Speaker 5: the first time that Gino was under thirty attempts since
- 7:48Speaker 5: Week one against the Broncos. Now, he's had some amazing
- 7:53Speaker 5: games and he has, I mean, he's leading the league
- 7:55Speaker 5: in completions and yards and all that, which I love
- 7:59Speaker 5: because he's capable of doing that. But when this team
- 8:02Speaker 5: and he's attempting twenty five to thirty passes, they're so
- 8:05Speaker 5: much better because that means there's balance in the game
- 8:07Speaker 5: and the run game house being played, house being called.
- 8:09Speaker 5: But Gino did his thing, was efficient and honestly, when
- 8:11Speaker 5: you look at that eighteen of twenty eight, it really
- 8:13Speaker 5: could have been like twenty three of twenty eight easily.
- 8:16Speaker 5: A couple fifty to fifty balls that weren't caught, there
- 8:19Speaker 5: was a drop in there, and a couple just different
- 8:21Speaker 5: things that happened. But he was incredibly smart with the football,
- 8:24Speaker 5: did not turn it over, was clean, and he was
- 8:26Speaker 5: under a lot of pressure. I think the stats said
- 8:28Speaker 5: he was under pressure fifty percent of the time or
- 8:30Speaker 5: something like that. Now, it didn't feel that bad and
- 8:34Speaker 5: in that sense, but he was still it was there.
- 8:36Speaker 5: But he's still so quick with his feed, stepping up
- 8:38Speaker 5: in the pocket, making play. So I loved it what
- 8:39Speaker 5: I saw from Gino.
- 8:40Speaker 3: No, he looked good in the pocket. It wasn't.
- 8:42Speaker 7: I mean, we can't expect this offensive line just to
- 8:44Speaker 7: give him the cleanest pocket every single snap. No quarterback
- 8:47Speaker 7: is dropping back and everything is beautiful at times, and
- 8:50Speaker 7: that's just football. But Gino man, his presence, the way
- 8:52Speaker 7: he moves, he operates common to chaos.
- 8:54Speaker 3: He does look in control as usual, and you're right.
- 8:56Speaker 7: If he's only throwing the ball twenty eight times, that
- 8:59Speaker 7: means other things are working.
- 9:00Speaker 3: But he was throwing into this man.
- 9:03Speaker 7: DK metcalf four receptions, ninety nine yards in one touchdown.
- 9:06Speaker 7: He did leave the game with a knee injury, so
- 9:08Speaker 7: we'll see if he's okay. That third down right before
- 9:12Speaker 7: the half, the touchdown that we're gonna go.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Over, was a receivers type of play.
- 9:18Speaker 7: The route was on point, the spacing was on point,
- 9:21Speaker 7: and then Gino steps up and drops a dime. That
- 9:23Speaker 7: shows the chemistry and the trust between those two. DK
- 9:26Speaker 7: has n't have himself a good season, Number two in
- 9:28Speaker 7: the NFL. Right now, I'm receiving yards.
- 9:30Speaker 6: Yeah, he's crushing it.
- 9:31Speaker 5: And hopefully he had a little mcl injury that coach
- 9:34Speaker 5: McDonald spoke at the pudding today. Hopefully is not super serious.
- 9:37Speaker 5: There's no timetable for his return right now, so hopefully DK.
- 9:40Speaker 5: You know, as we know DK, he's gonna do anything
- 9:42Speaker 5: he can to get back in this lineup, So hopefully
- 9:44Speaker 5: he is back against the Buffalo Bills. But good to
- 9:46Speaker 5: see DK doing his thing. Now, let's talk about the
- 9:49Speaker 5: other guy, Ken Walker. Flu game, did his thing. It
- 9:52Speaker 5: was his birthday, super sick leading to the game, but
- 9:55Speaker 5: it was just a gutsy performance.
- 9:56Speaker 6: And what I loved about it.
- 9:57Speaker 5: You know, he's got fourteen carries sixty nine yards, one touchdown,
- 10:00Speaker 5: two receptions twenty four yards in a touchdown. He's now
- 10:03Speaker 5: tied for seventh place in franchise history twenty three rushing touchdowns,
- 10:07Speaker 5: tied with Russell Wilson.
- 10:08Speaker 6: And as I said, it was his full game.
- 10:10Speaker 5: But anyone who's played this game in football and you're
- 10:12Speaker 5: sick and you got a flu and you don't feel
- 10:13Speaker 5: well and you're dehydrated, especially at that position, that it's
- 10:16Speaker 5: gonna be physical, you're gonna be hit on every play.
- 10:19Speaker 5: It just shows his toughness in his dedication to this
- 10:21Speaker 5: team and without that being said, to still have the
- 10:23Speaker 5: presence of mind. He made a lot of really good
- 10:25Speaker 5: cuts that again, we talked about that dynamite catch over
- 10:27Speaker 5: the shoulders, So Ken Walker doing his thing when he
- 10:29Speaker 5: didn't feel good. So good job by him, Good job
- 10:32Speaker 5: of the offensive line, everybody picking up.
- 10:33Speaker 6: His teammate Ki look good.
- 10:34Speaker 7: I know, I don't want people to panic on like
- 10:36Speaker 7: the rushing yards right has sixty something yards, but I go,
- 10:39Speaker 7: if he's scoring touchdowns, we're fine, you know. And he
- 10:42Speaker 7: still touched the ball fourteen times, so he is still
- 10:45Speaker 7: a threat in the run game. But if he's scoring touchdowns,
- 10:48Speaker 7: I will take a seventy yard game any day of
- 10:51Speaker 7: the week. That's actually pretty good, all right. Next up
- 10:53Speaker 7: Kobe Bryant Man. He got the start because Rayshawn Jenkins
- 10:55Speaker 7: had he headed to the ir and he played well.
- 10:58Speaker 7: He did disappoint He led the team with tackles eleven,
- 11:00Speaker 7: had an interception and a pass defendant. It's crazy. This
- 11:03Speaker 7: was his first career interception. I feel like he at
- 11:06Speaker 7: least had two. But then I remember both of those
- 11:08Speaker 7: were called back for some type of penalty.
- 11:10Speaker 3: So if.
- 11:12Speaker 6: Cost him for both of them.
- 11:13Speaker 7: Hey the press, he said he's gonna hit up Puandre, Like, look, man,
- 11:15Speaker 7: I finally got one. But I was a little bit
- 11:19Speaker 7: disappointed in Kobe at first because he slid after the interception,
- 11:22Speaker 7: but then he said, I was gassed. I get it,
- 11:25Speaker 7: I get it, slide, get down. But I was happy
- 11:26Speaker 7: for Kobe Man. He's been one of my favorite players
- 11:28Speaker 7: since his rookie year. A bunch of forced fumbles when
- 11:31Speaker 7: he started this whole deal here. He might have he
- 11:34Speaker 7: might have got to sell some playing time this weekend
- 11:36Speaker 7: and they'll be back there with Julian Love. Julian Love
- 11:38Speaker 7: had nine tackles, one pass defenditant and one interception. Nice
- 11:41Speaker 7: to see Jay Love. Jay Love seems like he is
- 11:44Speaker 7: the official leader of this defense. You know, he's the mouthpiece.
- 11:47Speaker 7: He comes out, he talks to the press. Win, loser,
- 11:49Speaker 7: draw does not matter. He leads by example. Jay Love
- 11:52Speaker 7: had himself a good game.
- 11:53Speaker 6: Yeah, both of them. I just love the motor they
- 11:55Speaker 6: play with.
- 11:55Speaker 5: Right, Kobe Bryant, that was a nice change, not a
- 11:58Speaker 5: change in the sense of from racial, but just to
- 12:00Speaker 5: change in the sense of like.
- 12:01Speaker 6: He played with his hair on fire. Yeah, he was
- 12:03Speaker 6: going to take some shots.
- 12:04Speaker 5: He didn't make every single tackle, but his presence was
- 12:07Speaker 5: going to be felt, and he was physical, And I
- 12:08Speaker 5: just love it when you haven't had that opportunity to
- 12:10Speaker 5: prepare like you're going to start, and know you're going
- 12:12Speaker 5: to start, it's a little different. So Kobe, he's always
- 12:14Speaker 5: around the football since he'd been in this league. He's
- 12:16Speaker 5: always in the right spot making play. So good love
- 12:18Speaker 5: to see from Julian and from Kobe. Then to this
- 12:21Speaker 5: defensive line, Draymont Jones, Derek Hall. Draymont, I think this
- 12:25Speaker 5: was his best game by far the entire season. He
- 12:27Speaker 5: was active, two jackals, two TFLs, one sack, one pass defended,
- 12:31Speaker 5: four QB hits. He was incredibly active and that's exactly
- 12:34Speaker 5: what Mike McDonald wanted out of him, right, that's the
- 12:37Speaker 5: guy that you want. Versatile, can play most positions on
- 12:39Speaker 5: that front line. So Draymond was balling out. And then
- 12:42Speaker 5: Derek Hall. The Hall has been money all season long.
- 12:44Speaker 5: He had one tackle, one QB hit, one fumble recovery
- 12:47Speaker 5: obviously in the touchdown, but he had more impact on
- 12:49Speaker 5: this game than those numbers two because that pass for us.
- 12:51Speaker 5: Kirk Cousins was feeling it all game long. So Derek
- 12:54Speaker 5: called Draymond Jones, big us, huge game.
- 12:56Speaker 7: Drey Jones man, I just remember seeing fifty five flash
- 12:59Speaker 7: in all the time. Five where's fifty five? It's flashing
- 13:01Speaker 7: across the screen. That's how you know he's getting done.
- 13:03Speaker 7: And Derek Hallman, we spoke to him this week and
- 13:05Speaker 7: he seemed confident. He seemed like he understands who he is,
- 13:09Speaker 7: how he's gotten better, and how he's going to help
- 13:10Speaker 7: this football team. And that's an example right there, this
- 13:13Speaker 7: rally to the football, good things happen, you get a
- 13:15Speaker 7: scoop and score if you are d Hall. Leonard Williams
- 13:18Speaker 7: is a guy that does not get enough love. And
- 13:20Speaker 7: people are talking about this defensive line and they failed
- 13:23Speaker 7: to realize.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Is how important big Cat is.
- 13:25Speaker 7: Man three tackles, one sack, one TfL, one quarterback hit.
- 13:29Speaker 3: He was active all night.
- 13:30Speaker 7: I watched some of the film when I got home
- 13:33Speaker 7: the other night, and he's just he's everywhere. He is
- 13:36Speaker 7: taking on doubles, he's splitting the double team. He's making
- 13:38Speaker 7: Kurt step up in the pocket. We know Kurt was
- 13:40Speaker 7: not the most mobile quarterback, so you get him to move,
- 13:43Speaker 7: good thing is going to happen.
- 13:44Speaker 3: And kat Win has been doing it.
- 13:46Speaker 7: I couldn't wait to talk about this man, Josh Joe Bigps.
- 13:50Speaker 7: You have to give me some notes on this dude.
- 13:51Speaker 7: And it's no disrespect to him. I just didn't know
- 13:53Speaker 7: much about him. And then when you start reading about him,
- 13:55Speaker 7: undrafted out of Philly, played for Bama, won SEC championship,
- 13:59Speaker 7: help win a national championship. He's got that pedigree in him.
- 14:02Speaker 7: You know that he's going to be capable of making plays.
- 14:04Speaker 7: That's what he did. Six tackles, two passes defended, and
- 14:08Speaker 7: he filled in for Reek Wilding and Trey Brown. Those
- 14:10Speaker 7: are two guys that this organization's trust. So for him
- 14:13Speaker 7: to go out there and have a big game paddling
- 14:15Speaker 7: it back to him.
- 14:16Speaker 5: You can talk about next up mentality all you want,
- 14:19Speaker 5: but the guys have to come out there and actually
- 14:20Speaker 5: execute exactly. Because's a lot of positions. A lot of
- 14:22Speaker 5: players were like, well, they're backups for a reason. But
- 14:24Speaker 5: these guys came in here and there wasn't a drop
- 14:26Speaker 5: off in play. That's what I loved about it, and
- 14:28Speaker 5: that's goes right in. Our next guy, Michael Durell made
- 14:30Speaker 5: his first NFL start on the road, and first of all,
- 14:33Speaker 5: shout out because he played D two ball. I played
- 14:35Speaker 5: small college football as well Division three. So any time
- 14:38Speaker 5: I see any guys that didn't play D one ball,
- 14:40Speaker 5: they're balling in the NFL, I love to see it.
- 14:42Speaker 6: But to go from the.
- 14:43Speaker 5: Fields and the stadiums, in the training rooms and the
- 14:46Speaker 5: facilities that Michael was playing at last year, man to
- 14:49Speaker 5: win the National Football League to starting in Atlanta Mercedes
- 14:52Speaker 5: Benz against Judon one of the guys that you've watched
- 14:55Speaker 5: growing up your whole life, and now you're playing against
- 14:58Speaker 5: him in the NFL, the crowd knowing, so for him
- 15:00Speaker 5: to go out there and do his thing.
- 15:02Speaker 6: Was he perfect? No?
- 15:03Speaker 5: Probably not. The film probably tell you wasn't perfect. But
- 15:05Speaker 5: he did a damn good job and stood up. Gino
- 15:08Speaker 5: Smith was sacked one time, and I just love what
- 15:10Speaker 5: I saw for him. He was physical, an he's athletic.
- 15:12Speaker 5: He's an athlete. So those guys filling in, like I said,
- 15:15Speaker 5: you can have a next up mentality all you want,
- 15:17Speaker 5: but if you don't perform, it doesn't matter. These guys perform.
- 15:19Speaker 5: They did exactly what the team needed him to do,
- 15:21Speaker 5: and I just love to see it.
- 15:23Speaker 7: He was involved with one of the bigger runs of
- 15:24Speaker 7: the game, twenty yard touchdown Ken Walker, him and Christian Haynes. Yeah,
- 15:27Speaker 7: the Rocks, the rookie right side got it done.
- 15:30Speaker 3: Man soup. That was fun.
- 15:31Speaker 7: Let's get to this wide receiver round out run through
- 15:33Speaker 7: some numbers real quick mentioned DK. He was four receptions
- 15:36Speaker 7: for ninety nine yards on long of thirty five. No offense.
- 15:39Speaker 7: Six weeks in a row now, No, five weeks in
- 15:42Speaker 7: a row now he's been perfect when it comes to
- 15:43Speaker 7: targets and receptions. The first two games, I think he
- 15:46Speaker 7: was like one for two and then one for three.
- 15:48Speaker 7: Then after that he's been perfect. He had four targets,
- 15:50Speaker 7: four receptions for sixty five yards. Second game in a
- 15:53Speaker 7: row where he's had sixty plus yards. Tyler Lockett four
- 15:56Speaker 7: cats for forty five, Ken Walker two for twenty four.
- 15:59Speaker 7: Smith then jig But three for nine, but also had
- 16:02Speaker 7: a pass a completion.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Yes, he's a DK. Big play there. That was funny.
- 16:07Speaker 7: I was telling one of my friends, you put a
- 16:09Speaker 7: receiver on a double pass. He is throwing the football.
- 16:12Speaker 7: He threw it in double covers. Jackson Smith and Jegg
- 16:15Speaker 7: Will was throwing that thing. Barner had won for five
- 16:17Speaker 7: and then Sharpa they had a reception as well.
- 16:20Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 16:20Speaker 5: No, that's the other thing too, is like it's almost
- 16:22Speaker 5: like if you call that play, no, that ball's getting
- 16:24Speaker 5: thrown it. So if you're no doubt, if you're the
- 16:26Speaker 5: intended target, you better run down there and do your thing.
- 16:28Speaker 8: Because hey, deg had to make a catch too. Oh boy,
- 16:30Speaker 8: you had to make a catch. I love what we
- 16:31Speaker 8: saw from DK that that was That was dope. So
- 16:34Speaker 8: speaking of DK we've alluded to it all show. One
- 16:36Speaker 8: of the biggest plays in the game was before halftime.
- 16:38Speaker 5: The Seahawks did not have a time out, march down
- 16:40Speaker 5: the field and get a huge touchdown before the end
- 16:43Speaker 5: of the half, making the score seventeen seven.
- 16:45Speaker 6: That's when Gino Smith locked in with DK met Calf.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Third down in fifteen Gino from the shotgun, three man rush.
- 16:55Speaker 6: Gino steps up.
- 16:56Speaker 3: He's gonna throw thet K.
- 16:58Speaker 2: He's got it. Touchdown Shayhawks. What a bullet thrown by
- 17:05Speaker 2: Jeno Smith.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Dk Metcalf again between two defenders underneath the goalposts makes
- 17:13Speaker 4: the reception on an absolute dime from thirty one out.
- 17:19Speaker 4: Holy Catfish want to play.
- 17:21Speaker 3: By the Hawks.
- 17:22Speaker 4: They make it sixteen to seven, and the fans here
- 17:25Speaker 4: in Atlanta are just stunned.
- 17:28Speaker 3: They go to that Holy Catfish.
- 17:29Speaker 7: He know it's a big play when Raves say that,
- 17:32Speaker 7: let's set it up.
- 17:33Speaker 3: Man. So you got Gino in the shotgun position.
- 17:36Speaker 7: He has a tight end to the right of them
- 17:37Speaker 7: and running back to the left just for some protection purposes.
- 17:40Speaker 7: Doubt that the Falcons were gonna bring pressure in this situation,
- 17:43Speaker 7: but just in case to the right, as you know,
- 17:45Speaker 7: you have two receivers, and you got DK to the
- 17:47Speaker 7: left of them by himself. The falcons are in a
- 17:50Speaker 7: too high shell. They're gonna end up dropping into a
- 17:52Speaker 7: Tampa two.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Look.
- 17:53Speaker 7: That just means that Michael Lionbacker drops into the middle
- 17:56Speaker 7: of the field.
- 17:57Speaker 3: So DK does a great job.
- 17:59Speaker 7: He's isold, he's by himself right, and he has a post,
- 18:02Speaker 7: so he inside releases on the corner, and then at
- 18:04Speaker 7: the top of his route, he leans to the left
- 18:06Speaker 7: to widen that safety. The safety is responsible for his
- 18:10Speaker 7: deep half of the field, so anything pushing to us
- 18:13Speaker 7: outside he has to respect. DK, being a route runner,
- 18:16Speaker 7: does exactly that, leans to the left boom, then snaps it.
- 18:19Speaker 7: Gino does a great job stepping up inside the pocket
- 18:22Speaker 7: and delivering a good shot. Good job by the other side.
- 18:25Speaker 7: You have a corner trying to take the other safety
- 18:28Speaker 7: out the play. That safety doesn't bite too much. But
- 18:30Speaker 7: because Gino did such a great job moving that other safety,
- 18:34Speaker 7: Gino puts into a spot where only not only where
- 18:36Speaker 7: he can get it, but just the only place he
- 18:38Speaker 7: can put it. When DK catches the football, there are
- 18:41Speaker 7: four defenders around him that could possibly make that play.
- 18:44Speaker 7: So this just shows great chemistry great understanding of coverage
- 18:48Speaker 7: and Geno with that pocket presence and is throwing a dime.
- 18:51Speaker 5: Yeah, it's great by everybody. That's great called by Ryan Grubb.
- 18:53Speaker 5: This great execution by Geno Smith and DK Metcalf. You
- 18:55Speaker 5: talked about stemming that safeties in that cover two look
- 18:58Speaker 5: and he doesn't get turn his hips and run over.
- 19:01Speaker 5: He takes just one step, gets too much and he
- 19:03Speaker 5: can't recover a safety. The other side can't make that play.
- 19:06Speaker 5: So that's just that's his years of practice. Hear those
- 19:08Speaker 5: guys getting after it and doing good work. So that
- 19:10Speaker 5: was another big play.
- 19:12Speaker 6: The other big player.
- 19:12Speaker 5: We're gonna look at us boy Mafey's strip sack of
- 19:14Speaker 5: Kirk Cousins that he picked back up and ran for
- 19:17Speaker 5: a touchdown.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Boy A mafe isn't there at an inside rushing position.
- 19:22Speaker 6: Robinson stays in.
- 19:22Speaker 3: The backfield for Atlanta.
- 19:24Speaker 4: Cousins scrambles left side, gets hit, goes down. My football
- 19:28Speaker 4: comes down, ball rolling picked up farth side, gets haul.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Down the far side.
- 19:32Speaker 4: Lunch, He's gonna score touchdown, say Hawks. Derek Hole on
- 19:39Speaker 4: the sack by boy A mofing, Cousins coughs it up
- 19:44Speaker 4: and Hall goes the distance.
- 19:46Speaker 2: The second year linebacker ound of Auburn.
- 19:49Speaker 4: He probably has a sweet full of family and friends
- 19:53Speaker 4: here watching.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Cousins had nowhere to go with the ball.
- 19:57Speaker 4: It's knocked away from Cousins by Boy, picked up, and
- 20:02Speaker 4: Hall takes it thirty six for the touchdown. The Seahawks
- 20:06Speaker 4: up thirty to fourteen.
- 20:10Speaker 7: I'll start on the back game when he comes to
- 20:12Speaker 7: this man, I know the box got it done, but
- 20:14Speaker 7: the backend really held it down. You got too high
- 20:16Speaker 7: safety look as well. We just talked about the Falcons
- 20:19Speaker 7: into too high. Look the Hawks running too high. Look,
- 20:21Speaker 7: you got your Terrell Dowson drops into the middle of
- 20:24Speaker 7: the field looking to rob and he crossed or anything
- 20:27Speaker 7: like that.
- 20:27Speaker 3: But now let's get to the box. And this was
- 20:30Speaker 3: this was fun to see.
- 20:31Speaker 7: You have Derek Hall to the left, you have Boy
- 20:35Speaker 7: and Mafey lined up in like the three technique. You
- 20:37Speaker 7: have Byron Murphy after one. You got Dotson at at
- 20:40Speaker 7: like a foster. He's walking up, walking up, but he's
- 20:42Speaker 7: gonna show pressure. And Draymond Jones on the outside. All
- 20:45Speaker 7: these guys work together. Derek Hall firing off the football
- 20:49Speaker 7: and just bitch pressing a grown man into the backfield.
- 20:52Speaker 7: On the other side, you got Draymond Jones. His approach
- 20:55Speaker 7: is a little different. He give a little wiggle, try
- 20:57Speaker 7: to get you off off bounce and boom, he drives
- 21:00Speaker 7: that tackle into the backfield. Kirk Cousins has nowhere to go.
- 21:03Speaker 7: At the same time, you got boy of Mafy and
- 21:05Speaker 7: it looks like they're stunting. It looks like there's a
- 21:07Speaker 7: twist with with Boia Mafe and Bira Murphy.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Boom. You confuse the offensive lineman there.
- 21:12Speaker 7: And now this is all desire man, because Kirk Cousins
- 21:15Speaker 7: has to get out of the pocket. You got boy
- 21:17Speaker 7: a Mafe using a speed closing in on him, hitting
- 21:20Speaker 7: the ball out of his hand as he tries to throw.
- 21:22Speaker 7: And this is why you rally to the football. De
- 21:25Speaker 7: Hall picks it up. He's gone and guests, who throws
- 21:28Speaker 7: just enough of a block on a big old tackle.
- 21:30Speaker 7: You got a little spoon out there making sure the
- 21:32Speaker 7: Hall gets into the end zone.
- 21:34Speaker 5: The thing I love about this about this play and
- 21:37Speaker 5: bump you were a high school coach.
- 21:39Speaker 6: You've done it.
- 21:40Speaker 5: My old high school coach, Mark Stewart is now coaching
- 21:42Speaker 5: Evert high school shoutout coach too.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Yep.
- 21:45Speaker 5: This is a play I feel like if I was
- 21:46Speaker 5: in high school, we will be watching the next day.
- 21:48Speaker 6: Oh you want to talk about effort?
- 21:50Speaker 3: Uh huh.
- 21:50Speaker 5: Devin Witherspoon, when that ball is sack fumbled, he's in coverage,
- 21:54Speaker 5: he's about twenty yards away from the football. Great and
- 21:57Speaker 5: he just puts on another gear. And that's whether you're right.
- 22:01Speaker 5: I think this play. There's a play like this happened
- 22:02Speaker 5: a couple of weeks ago. I want to say it
- 22:04Speaker 5: was in the Red River shootout game. I feel like
- 22:06Speaker 5: a Texas receiver did the same thing. Whether you're running
- 22:09Speaker 5: down there to celebrate or not, it is effort. You
- 22:12Speaker 5: can't teach that. Like coaches hope that you have that
- 22:15Speaker 5: kind of effort. Either have or you don't. And the
- 22:17Speaker 5: way Spoon plays the game of football, it's at that
- 22:20Speaker 5: level one and he gets going and like you said,
- 22:23Speaker 5: that's a big offensive lineman. He gets just enough of
- 22:25Speaker 5: him because if he doesn't do that, the lineman can
- 22:27Speaker 5: push Derek call at a bounce. It's not a touchdown,
- 22:29Speaker 5: but he gets money, whether it's to celebrate or get
- 22:32Speaker 5: after it. He just sees a ball on the ground
- 22:33Speaker 5: and he has that INSCT and he is gone. So
- 22:35Speaker 5: that's teach tape if you're a young player out there,
- 22:38Speaker 5: and then anywhere you play, that's pee wee football, JV
- 22:42Speaker 5: varsity college, that's how you play the game of football.
- 22:45Speaker 5: That's a hell of an effort, which brings us to
- 22:48Speaker 5: our favorite formation. We didn't see it for a couple
- 22:50Speaker 5: weeks in a while, but we're back in at victory formation.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Here comes the Seahawk offense onto the field and the
- 22:57Speaker 4: Vikings defense crunching out there knowing that one meal down
- 23:03Speaker 4: and the Seahawks are gonna wind the clock down and
- 23:05Speaker 4: win this one.
- 23:06Speaker 1: It's the victory formation on Hawk Talk.
- 23:09Speaker 5: Seahawks back in the win calling again with an impressed
- 23:11Speaker 5: victory or the Falcons thirty four to fourteen. The Seahawks
- 23:14Speaker 5: got an early lead and never gave it up. That's
- 23:16Speaker 5: how it's hard to underest meate how important it is
- 23:19Speaker 5: to play with the lead. It is what you can
- 23:21Speaker 5: do defensively, how you're calling the game on offense, it's
- 23:24Speaker 5: completely different then when you're down twenty points and you're
- 23:27Speaker 5: one dimensional and you're trying, you're taking chances at you
- 23:29Speaker 5: and stuff you wouldn't normally do. Get outside yourself. Seahawks
- 23:32Speaker 5: played with the lead, and it was really good to see.
- 23:34Speaker 7: Could you imagine now a football game is nothing but stress,
- 23:37Speaker 7: that's all it is.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Who can execute under stress?
- 23:40Speaker 7: But the stress Grub has been calling plays under the
- 23:42Speaker 7: past few weeks has been crazy. I'm sure my man
- 23:45Speaker 7: was like, this feels a lot better. I'm still stressed
- 23:47Speaker 7: out because that's football, right right, make sure things are
- 23:49Speaker 7: on point. But man having the lead, he's the first
- 23:52Speaker 7: person I thought about it. I go, look how different
- 23:54Speaker 7: the game looks and feels when you're calling plays with
- 23:57Speaker 7: the lead. So big upside to gruts Man and a
- 23:59Speaker 7: lot of guys can contributed to this thing we talked about.
- 24:01Speaker 7: Michael Jerald got a D two football man seventh round pick.
- 24:04Speaker 3: He contributed.
- 24:05Speaker 7: Kobe Bryant Man, he was a Jim Thorpe Award winner
- 24:08Speaker 7: over there at Cincinnati Man, Josh Joe, an undrafted guy,
- 24:11Speaker 7: Niam Pritchett. I mean it was nice to say names
- 24:15Speaker 7: of guys that we haven't said often. I was a
- 24:17Speaker 7: bit nervous at first because you never know what you're
- 24:18Speaker 7: gonna get. But all these dudes stepped up and played well.
- 24:21Speaker 7: Then of course Gino did not turn the football over.
- 24:23Speaker 7: That was clutch.
- 24:24Speaker 5: Yeah, next man up to these guys meant something. They
- 24:27Speaker 5: took care of business, do you know, taking care of
- 24:28Speaker 5: the football? Huge, huge, huge Seahawks running for over one
- 24:31Speaker 5: hundred yards another thing they need to see. And I
- 24:34Speaker 5: thought the defense took strides man. The run defense still
- 24:36Speaker 5: isn't perfect, but in the second half they shut it down.
- 24:38Speaker 5: Two really good backs and the Seahawks finished the day
- 24:41Speaker 5: with three takeaways.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Bump, come on now, huge.
- 24:44Speaker 6: Game coming up.
- 24:45Speaker 5: We got the Buffalo Bills come in and this week
- 24:48Speaker 5: we will come back with a preview edition of Hawk Talk.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Bump.
- 24:51Speaker 6: How we fiilm about the Bills early.
- 24:52Speaker 7: Previews and hey, Bill's they do have Amari Cooper. Now
- 24:55Speaker 7: Josh Allen has a number one weapon. He has not
- 24:57Speaker 7: turned the football over in the past game I think
- 25:00Speaker 7: fumbled a football. But he looks good to start the season.
- 25:02Speaker 7: He was a favorite to win MVP. They stumbled a bit,
- 25:04Speaker 7: but they have a good culture, good foundation over there.
- 25:06Speaker 3: It's gonna be a tough one.
- 25:07Speaker 5: Yeah, we'll break it all down on Thursday about this
- 25:09Speaker 5: preview of the Buffalo Bills. They lead the league and
- 25:11Speaker 5: turnover differential number one. So we'll see how that goes.
- 25:15Speaker 5: He's Michael Bumps on NASA Chow. We remember to rate
- 25:17Speaker 5: us on Apple Podcast. You can watch us on YouTube
- 25:19Speaker 5: under Seahawks Press Pass channel. It's been fun, bumb I
- 25:23Speaker 5: love talking about a victory. It's a lot better again.
- 25:26Speaker 5: Do it again next week. Yeah, we'll get you ready
- 25:27Speaker 5: for the Bills on Thursday and then the Seahawks taking
- 25:30Speaker 5: on the Bills back at Lewinfield this Sunday at one
- 25:32Speaker 5: oh five.
- 25:33Speaker 6: It's been another edition Hawk Talk. Thanks for listening.
