- 2:11article from the Lane Report is titled Mercer County's Megasite
- 2:15Industrial Park gets two million dollars to help attract jobs today.
- 2:20US Congressman Andy Barr announced two million dollars in federal
- 2:24funding for the Wilkinson Farm Megasite Industrial Park Improvements, a
- 2:29transformative investment that will help Mercer County continue developing the
- 2:34Bluegrass Innovation Gateway and position the region to attract major
- 2:38employers and high quality jobs. This funding was secured through
- 2:42the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations Bill that President
- 2:47Donald Trump signed into law. The funding awarded to the
- 2:50Mercer County Fiscal Court will support critical infrastructure and site
- 2:54development needed to bring the Megasite closer to full market readiness.
- 3:00Local leaders say the investment builds years of work to
- 3:03make the property one of Kentucky's most competitive locations for
- 3:07large scale industrial recruitment. H m CIDA is extremely grateful
- 3:14for the advocacy of Congressman Bar and his team, said
- 3:18Grayson Evans, executive at Harrisburg Mercer County Industrial Development Authority.
- 3:24The Bluegrass Innovation Gateway is already one of our state's
- 3:27most prominent development opportunities, and the funding secured only enhances
- 3:32our community's red hot momentum. Congressman Bar and his staff
- 3:37have been instrumentally elevating this site and spreading the word
- 3:41even at the federal level that Mercer County is open
- 3:44for business. The proof is in the pudding apple corning,
- 3:49earth breeze, other opportunities on the horizon, and robust funding
- 3:53for what we believe is one of the best and
- 3:55fastest to market megasites in the country. The Wilkinson Farm
- 3:59Mega Site is designed to serve as a catalyst for
- 4:03long term economic growth in Central Kentucky, creating construction opportunities
- 4:08in the near term, while laying the groundwork for permanent
- 4:11jobs and expand industry in the years ahead. Central Kentucky
- 4:16is competing on a national stage for the next generation
- 4:19of manufacturing and technology investment, and the Bluegrass Innovation Gateway
- 4:24is a prime example of how preparation meets opportunity. Congressman
- 4:28Bar said, I'm proud to work alongside our outstanding local
- 4:33partners to keep this momentum going. I'm also grateful to
- 4:36President Trump and his support for this funding that helps
- 4:40rural America compete and win. Congressman Andy Barr has been
- 4:45a strong supporter of the Bluegrass Innovation Gateway from the start,
- 4:49said Sarah Steele, Mercer County Judge Executive. His continued efficacy
- 4:54is helping us build the infrastructure needed to create jobs
- 4:57and drive economic growth in Mercer County and throughout the region,
- 5:01and I'm grateful to him and his team for their leadership.
- 5:05This two million dollars in federal funding is exactly the
- 5:08kind of targeted investment our region needs to move the
- 5:11Bluegrass Innovation Gateway from vision to reality, said State Senator
- 5:16Amanda Mays Bledsoe. By supporting essential infrastructure and site readiness,
- 5:22this appropriation strengthens Mercer County's ability to compete for high
- 5:26impact employers and quality jobs. Representative Bar continues to deliver
- 5:32when it comes to support of our community. The Bluegrass
- 5:36Innovation Gateway Park is able to move forward more readily
- 5:40with the introduction of this two million dollar award. Thank you,
- 5:44Representative Bar for your leadership, service, and above all, friendship
- 5:48with the Harrodsburg Mercer County community. Harrodsburg Mayor Bob Williams said.
- 5:54The next article from the Lane Report is titled Kentucky
- 5:57Council on post Secondary Education of It proves Murray State
- 6:01Veterinary Program. Murray State University has received program approval by
- 6:06the Kentucky Council on post Secondary Education to offer a
- 6:10Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine DMV, marking a significant step forward
- 6:16in its pursuit of a school of Veterinary Medicine. Murray
- 6:20State has received approval and support from countless individuals and
- 6:24entities to pursue a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in order
- 6:28to advance the Commonwealth from numerous standpoints, particularly in areas
- 6:33of economic growth, workforce development, and industry needs. This is
- 6:38a significant step as we continue to make great strides
- 6:41in advancing this important initiative, which will greatly benefit our
- 6:46region and the Commonwealth. We are very grateful to the
- 6:49Kentucky Council on post Secondary Education, led by doctor Aaron Thompson,
- 6:54for supporting our efforts as we move forward with the
- 6:57offering of a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicinet Mamurray State University.
- 7:01Murray State President Doctor Ron Patterson said, I would also
- 7:06like to thank both past and present members of our
- 7:09Board of Regents, my predecessor, Doctor Bob Jackson, and the
- 7:13leadership team Murray State, faculty, staff and students, our West
- 7:18Kentucky Delegation, and the General Assembly. Murray State will work
- 7:22toward obtaining American Veterinary Medical Association program accreditation and remains
- 7:28on track to enroll the first class of DVM students
- 7:32as soon as the fall of twenty twenty eight. In
- 7:35twenty twenty five, Senate Bill seventy seven was passed unanimously
- 7:39by both chambers and a bipartisan manner, and was signed
- 7:42into law by Governor Andy Basheer. Passage of this bill
- 7:46provided a path forward for the university to establish a
- 7:50Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. According to a twenty twenty four
- 7:55study by Delatoi, eighty out of Kentucky's one hundred twenty
- 7:59counties are currently designated as having a veterinary shortage or
- 8:04identified as an underserved rural area for veterinarians. The state
- 8:09of Kentucky currently does not have a school of veterinary medicine,
- 8:13and in the United States there are only thirty three
- 8:16veterinary colleges accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association. The
- 8:22US Bureau of Labor Statistics BLS estimates that there are
- 8:26eighty six thousand, three hundred veterinarians in the United States,
- 8:30and this occupation is expected to grow by over nineteen
- 8:33percent by twenty thirty one. The BLS also reports a
- 8:38total of one hundred twenty two thousand, eight hundred veterinary
- 8:42technologists working today in the field is expected to grow
- 8:46by twenty percent by twenty thirty one, celebrating its one
- 8:50hundred year of agriculture. Murray State holds multiple existing assets
- 8:55on its campus, including the A. Carmen Animal Health Technology Center,
- 9:00the Rudolph Equine Education Center, multiple farms, as well as
- 9:05the breath At Veterinary Center, which is a nationally pre
- 9:08eminent animal disease diagnostic laboratory dedicated to protecting the invaluable
- 9:14assets of Kentucky's equine, livestock, and poultry industries. In addition,
- 9:19a new sixty million dollar veterinary science building, generously funded
- 9:24by the state legislature will be constructed on the university's
- 9:28West Farm. The university's Hudson School of Agriculture has the
- 9:33largest estimated pre veterinary medicine veterinary technology enrollment of any
- 9:38university in Kentucky and is just one of three programs
- 9:42in Kentucky that is fully accredited by the American Veterinary
- 9:45Medical Association. This past fall, the Hudson School of Agriculture
- 9:50achieved a record enrollment of undergraduate and graduate students. The
- 9:55next article from the Lane Report is titled World's first
- 9:58Disappearing storage shelf made in Kentucky. By transforming mirrors and
- 10:03picture frames into fold down horizontal shelves, Secret Shelfy stores
- 10:08decorative pillows and blankets off the floor while blending seamlessly
- 10:12into wall decore. Secret Shelfy, a patented home to Core Innovation,
- 10:18announces the launch of the world's first disappearing storage shelf
- 10:22designed specifically for decorative pillows and blankets. The product transforms
- 10:27a wall mirror or picture frame into a full down
- 10:30horizontal shelf, offering a practical solution to daily clutter caused
- 10:35by pillows and throws that typically end up piled on
- 10:38the floor or on furniture. Decorative pillows and blankets have
- 10:43become staples in modern home styling across Pinterest, Instagram, and
- 10:48interior design trends, yet until now, no product has existed
- 10:52specifically to store them when they are not in use.
- 10:55As more Americans spend time relaxing, working, and watching television
- 10:59and or on sofas, soft furnishings have increased in everyday
- 11:05spaces without a designated place for them to go. Secret
- 11:09Shelfy addresses this gap by combining decor with function. When closed,
- 11:15it appears as a framed photo display or mirror. When needed,
- 11:19it folds down into a shelf that neatly holds pillows
- 11:23and folded blankets off the floor, then closes back up
- 11:26to disappear into the room. People didn't know to search
- 11:31for this because they never existed before, said Terry Callahan,
- 11:35founder and inventor of Secret Shelfe. I've worked in real estate,
- 11:39decor and healthcare, and I kept seeing the same problem everywhere,
- 11:44beautiful pillows and blankets with nowhere to go. They don't
- 11:47belong on the floor, and furniture shouldn't be added just
- 11:50to hold them. Secret Shelfy was designed to solve that
- 11:54one daily frustration. Each Secret Shelfee is handcrafted in Kentucky
- 11:59by Amish craftsmen using native popular wood, a plentiful species
- 12:04commonly used in furniture making because it is stable, versatile,
- 12:08and stains beautifully. The brand combines traditional craftsmanship with modern
- 12:14multifunctional design. Twenty twenty six, home design trend reports from
- 12:20House and Pinterest highlight rising demand for multifunctional storage that
- 12:25blends into decor rather than standing out as furniture. Secret
- 12:30Shelfy aligns with this shift by replacing an existing mirror
- 12:34or picture frame while quietly serving as a hidden fold
- 12:37down storage. Why it's different. Secret Shelfy is the only
- 12:42patented pillow and blanket storage shelf designed to integrate directly
- 12:47into well decor. Unlike traditional shelving or furniture solutions, it
- 12:52replaces an existing mirror or photo frame while serving a
- 12:56second function as a fold down shelf, eliminating the need
- 13:00for additional furniture. The standard size measures thirty seven inches
- 13:04wide by twenty inches high with a one point seventy
- 13:08five inch depth, and is designed for everyday storage of
- 13:12decorative pillows and blankets over a dresser or desk. Secret
- 13:17Shelfee is offered in satin white, semi transparent black, and
- 13:22semi transparent gray finishes. Customers may choose between a mirror
- 13:26version or a picture frame version that holds three eight
- 13:30x ten photos. Custom colors are available with extended lead times.
- 13:35Pricing starts at two hundred and twenty nine dollars. Secret
- 13:39Shelfee is currently sold through Etsy and Select Boutique Home
- 13:43to core retailers, with plans to expand distribution in twenty
- 13:47twenty six. The next article comes from the February sixth
- 13:51to twenty twenty six edition of Business Lexington and is
- 13:54titled Gallo acquires historic Four Roses brand in seven hundred
- 13:59seventy five miss million dollar deal. Kieran Holdings Company Limited
- 14:04announced Friday that it has agreed to sell its Four
- 14:07Roses distillery to E. And J. Gallo Winery for approximately
- 14:12seven hundred and seventy five million dollars, with an additional
- 14:15fifty million dollar contingent on Four Roses meeting certain revenue
- 14:20targets after the sale. The transaction is expected to close
- 14:25in the second quarter of this year. Financial Times in
- 14:28October said that Kieran was exploring the sale of Four
- 14:32Roses as part of a strategic pivot away from the
- 14:35struggling spirits sector in Japan and towards its growing healthcare business.
- 14:40Since our acquisition of Four Roses in two thousand and two,
- 14:44the brand has experienced strong growth, primarily in the United
- 14:48States market, and contributed significantly to Kieran's enterprise value, the
- 14:53company said in a statement announcing the sale. At the
- 14:57same time, Kieran regularly reviews its balance sheet and business
- 15:01portfolio from a medium to long term perspective. After careful consideration,
- 15:06we decided to transfer four Roses to Gallo, which will
- 15:10allow us to reallocate resources to businesses that can grow
- 15:14by leveraging Kieran's organizational capabilities and further enhance enterprise value.
- 15:20Founded in eighteen eighty eight, four Roses operates a distillery
- 15:24and visitor center in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, along with a bottling
- 15:28and warehouse facility and a second visitor center in Cox
- 15:32Creek near Bardstown. The brand underwent a fifty five million
- 15:36dollar expansion in twenty fifteen. Gallo, in its statement, said
- 15:41it plans to maintain current operations, production, and distribution. We're
- 15:46incredibly excited about this acquisition and the opportunity to welcome
- 15:50four Roses into our portfolio, the company said. The next
- 15:54article comes from the February eleventh, twenty twenty sixth edition

- 18:55vibrant economy and vibrant community spirit in Lexington, Kentucky. The
- 19:00next article comes from the February eleventh, twenty twenty sixth
- 19:03edition of Louisville Business First and is titled U of
- 19:07L Joints Exclusive Sandbox Entrepreneurship Program written by Stephen Schmidt.
- 19:14When it comes to name association, the University of Louisville
- 19:17is not generally getting looped in with the likes of
- 19:20Brigham Young University, Boise State University, Northern Arizona University, and
- 19:25Utah State University. Yet that is the company the school
- 19:29keeps when it comes to universities that have allowed their
- 19:32students to play in a particular digital sandbox. Make that sandbox.
- 19:37Sandbox is a provo Utah based startup accelerator style program
- 19:42embedded within universities that give students college credit to build
- 19:47and operate companies while still enrolled. The program's U of
- 19:51L chapter began in August with eighteen students, after around
- 19:54two hundred of them had competed for spots in the
- 19:57program through a hackathon to demonstrate that students could do
- 20:02customer discovery on their own while using AI enabled development
- 20:06tools to create a tangible product. Sandbox wants people with
- 20:11the right mindset because it takes so much high agency,
- 20:14said Jack Manzella, the local managing director. You're asking these
- 20:19students to do a lot of work on their own,
- 20:21and so they have to be highly motivated. Those juniors
- 20:24and seniors who were chosen have been able to run
- 20:27companies while still getting up to nine hours of college
- 20:30credit each semester. The program was initially done in partnership
- 20:34with the College of Business, Speed School of Engineering, and
- 20:38the Height Institute of Art and Design. I first found
- 20:41out about the program while working on a profile story
- 20:44on Do good Or, a Louisville based startup that has
- 20:48been growing at a fast clip since co founders Nate
- 20:51Royal and Ethan Havertape first met each other through Sandbox.
- 20:56It's just been a really neat process to kind of
- 20:59be able to go all in on Do Gooder while
- 21:02still getting college credit. So it's been great have Hertape
- 21:05said at the time. Do Gooder is one of our
- 21:08twenty twenty six kyn startups to watch. The original event
- 21:12was scheduled to take place on January twenty seventh, but
- 21:15was postponed for several reasons. The makeup date has been
- 21:18set for March fifth at the Ice House in downtown Louisville.
- 21:22How Sandbox spread east to the University of Louisville. The
- 21:26program first came to u of L by way of
- 21:29Ryan Quinn, an associate professor of u of l's College
- 21:32of Business. Quinn has a son, Mason, who attended BYU
- 21:36and took part in the Sandbox program. He graduated from
- 21:40the Provo, Utah based institution in twenty twenty four with
- 21:43a major in Strategic management in the Marriott School of Business,
- 21:48after looking to possibly drop out of college after going
- 21:51through required general education classes. Sandbox, though, turned everything around
- 21:57for Mason. According to his father, Quinn does to look
- 22:00to establish a chapter at u of L. His company
- 22:04didn't even succeed, but he still had an amazing experience
- 22:07and it's affected everything else he's done since then. Ryan
- 22:10Quinn said, I said, you know, I want to give
- 22:14students at Louisville that experience. At the time, Ryan Quinn
- 22:18was serving a three year term as the chair of
- 22:20the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship at the College, a
- 22:24position now being served by Zachary Goldman since July of
- 22:27twenty twenty five. Mason put his father in touch with
- 22:31Chris Crittenden, the CEO of Sandbox, in the spring of
- 22:34twenty twenty four. The next article from Louisville Business First
- 22:38is titled HBO Documentary explores Old Louisville murder case, written
- 22:43by Michael Jones. When author David Dominie was looking for
- 22:48a new home in Old Louisville in two thousand and eight,
- 22:51he toured a house at fourteen thirty five South Fourth
- 22:54Street that had a wine cellar. The home wasn't right
- 22:58for him, but two years later the wine cellar captured
- 23:00his imagination again when authorities found a body buried there.
- 23:05The murder became the subject of Domine's twenty twenty one
- 23:08true crime book, A Dark Room in Glitterball City, Murder,
- 23:12Secrets and Scandal in Old Louisville. On February nineteenth, HBO
- 23:18will debut a new two part documentary, Murder in Glitterball City,
- 23:23based on Domine's book, The Glitter Ball In. The book
- 23:26and film title refers to Louisville being one of the
- 23:28world's largest producers of disco balls. The HBO documentary was
- 23:33filmed by directors Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, the duo
- 23:38behind HBO's Mabel Thorpe, Look At the Pictures and The
- 23:41Eyes of Tammy Fay. Bailey and Barbado are the founders
- 23:46of World of Wonder Productions, the company behind RuPaul's Drag Race,
- 23:51which happens to be one of Domine's favorite television shows.
- 23:55Domine said his book drew attention from producers almost immediately
- 23:58after it was published. I got a good review in
- 24:01the New York Times, and that got word out, Domine said.
- 24:05After that review came out, me and my agent started
- 24:08getting calls from people in Hollywood. All the big movie
- 24:11names and production companies started to call. They wanted to
- 24:14know about interest in making a movie or somehow bringing
- 24:17it to screen, because the story's so crazy. In June
- 24:21of twenty ten, Jeffrey Munt placed a call to nine
- 24:25one one and said his boyfriend Joseph Bannis was trying
- 24:29to kill him with a knife in the patrol car
- 24:31on the way to the police station. Bannis told officers,
- 24:34there was a body buried in the basement of Month's home.
- 24:38The body of Jamie Carroll had been hidden in a
- 24:40plastic container for seven months after he was stabbed and shot.
- 24:45Carrol was killed during a weekend binge of sex and drugs,
- 24:48and the case became known as the Pink Triangle murder.
- 24:52Bannis and Munt each blamed the other for the crime.
- 24:55Bannis was convicted of the murder and sentenced to life
- 24:58in prison. Was found not guilty of murder, but convicted
- 25:02of robbery and tampering with evidence. Since two thousand and four,
- 25:06Domine has led walks and given ghost tours in Old
- 25:09Louisville through his company Louisville Historic Tours. So the story
- 25:13of Carroll's killing was squarely in his wheelhouse. It was
- 25:17just like the story fell in my lap, Domine said.
- 25:20And then as things progressed, all these other things started
- 25:23coming out about the house, the fact that other people
- 25:26had died in the house, and for a time there
- 25:29was a sanatorium there. It had a reputation for being
- 25:32a haunted, creepy kind of place. And then it turns
- 25:36out Joey and Jeffrey, the guys who were arrested and
- 25:38accused of the murder of Jamie Carroll were counterfeiting money
- 25:42on the second floor, Domine said. The lead character in
- 25:45the book and documentary is Old Louisville itself, which is
- 25:49bounded by Broadway on the north, I sixty five on
- 25:52the east, Cardinal Boulevard in the University of Louisville campus
- 25:56on the south, and ninth Street or CSX tracks on the way.
- 26:01The community includes about ten thousand residents and businesses according
- 26:05to the latest census data, and has the nation's largest
- 26:08collection of Victorian homes. Domine expects the neighborhood to become
- 26:13even more of a tourist draw once the HBO film
- 26:16is released. The next article from Louisville Business First is
- 26:19titled New lou Marketplace Expansion to include independent Bookstore Wine Cafe,
- 26:25written by Michael Jones. A combination independent bookstore and wine cafe,
- 26:30along with a new co working space are coming to
