Drivers on I-5 through south Thurston County, watch out—starting July 6, crews will be repaving 7 miles of highway from Maytown Road to Old Highway 99, a $9.3 million fix for worn pavement. Work happens overnight, Monday through Friday, with speed limits dropping to 55 mph and single or double lane closures from 6 PM to 8 AM and 8 PM to 6 AM. Rest areas at Scatter Creek and Maytown close at night but stay open during the day.
