- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what he said.
- 0:01Speaker 2: That's what he said.
- 0:03Speaker 3: That's what he said.
- 0:04Speaker 2: That's what he said.
- 0:08Speaker 4: All right, let's roll up our sleeves for another fight,
- 0:10Speaker 4: shall we. The battle of ft against certain Brewers fans
- 0:15Speaker 4: that are always waiting for tomorrow continues. The latest story
- 0:20Speaker 4: comes from our friend Adam mccalvey from MLB dot com,
- 0:23Speaker 4: who did some great work finding out more in terms
- 0:27Speaker 4: of the offer package for the Tigers when it came
- 0:32Speaker 4: to the Brewers initial offer. According to mcalvey's story, three prospects,
- 0:37Speaker 4: all hitters, at least two were Top one hundred prospects.
- 0:41Speaker 4: Luis Payana was one of three prospects included in the offer.
- 0:46Speaker 4: Well liked, super speedy. He said. The Brewers believe they
- 0:51Speaker 4: made a strong offer to the Tigers for Schooble, maybe
- 0:55Speaker 4: stronger than what the Dodgers offered. And then we start
- 0:58Speaker 4: playing the rankings game, and I know is going to
- 1:00Speaker 4: love this right And also it depends on the publication.
- 1:04Speaker 4: So mccalvey works for MLB. MLB has their own prospect list.
- 1:09Speaker 4: For example, River Ryan's number sixty eight on that list,
- 1:12Speaker 4: AJ and many others.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Twenty eight years old. He's twenty eight years old. I'm sorry,
- 1:17Speaker 3: he's twenty eight years old.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Sorry, the Brewers are not going to trade Jesus made.
- 1:22Speaker 4: He's number one, and nobody is faulting that. No, The
- 1:26Speaker 4: debate comes to, was there a package that could have
- 1:30Speaker 4: still landed this guy?
- 1:31Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:32Speaker 4: If it's Luis Payne against all your Hope and then
- 1:35Speaker 4: the Dodgers feel like they have the edge there because
- 1:38Speaker 4: the Tigers like him better, that's their right. You need
- 1:41Speaker 4: to start looking at the next set of things.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I think the reason they like Hope better than Payne
- 1:45Speaker 3: was because of the power.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Yeah, there's definitely power.
- 1:48Speaker 4: I think there's more upside and he's more of a
- 1:50Speaker 4: high risk, high reward player. For me, Pain is going
- 1:53Speaker 4: to be a big leaguer, He's going to have speed,
- 1:55Speaker 4: he's going to be a contributor there. But Hope has
- 1:57Speaker 4: a chance to be a star and has a chance
- 1:59Speaker 4: to not work out. It's how it looks okay. Other guys,
- 2:02Speaker 4: for example, there's a lot of debate about someone like
- 2:05Speaker 4: Jet Williams. Jim Bowden doesn't think he should be anywhere
- 2:07Speaker 4: near a top one hundred. He's already been traded once.
- 2:10Speaker 4: He's seventy six on MLB's list. Maybe he was included
- 2:13Speaker 4: in the Tigers agreed with Boden and they're like, we
- 2:15Speaker 4: don't like him. A lot of this gets to semantics
- 2:17Speaker 4: on who it could be in there. Here's the part
- 2:20Speaker 4: that I'm reading. If the Brewers traded away a starter
- 2:24Speaker 4: like Logan Henderson, Trek Schouogl was theirs, I think that's
- 2:32Speaker 4: the determining sticks.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Fans are saying Logan Henderson is better than trek'schoole.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Then that's fine. That's your decision. And if that's how
- 2:39Speaker 4: you feel, that's okay. If you need another whatever it is,
- 2:42Speaker 4: four years of Logan Henderson, who is a very good pitcher,
- 2:45Speaker 4: then that's okay. But that was the guy that would
- 2:47Speaker 4: have made the separation. I don't think anyone's debating that.
- 2:50Speaker 4: If they said, hey, we've got Pinya here in Hope
- 2:53Speaker 4: a little bit higher. But if you include Henderson, we
- 2:56Speaker 4: like him much better than the other pictures on the
- 2:58Speaker 4: other side, that gets the deal done.
- 3:01Speaker 2: That's the decision that probably came across.
- 3:03Speaker 3: I made the decision they made. Listen, but we're not
- 3:06Speaker 3: mad because okay, I'm not mad because they that schoob
- 3:09Speaker 3: Ball went to the Dodgers like that's the Tiger's right
- 3:12Speaker 3: to choose. I just as a fan of baseball, would
- 3:15Speaker 3: love to see the Brewers have done it. We talk
- 3:17Speaker 3: about this all the time on the show. Every once
- 3:19Speaker 3: in a while, I just go for it and they
- 3:22Speaker 3: and they didn't want to give up Logan Henderson, that's
- 3:24Speaker 3: the Brewer's right, right. But I'm more of a Hey,
- 3:27Speaker 3: I'd like to win one World Series than just make
- 3:29Speaker 3: it to the playoffs every year and never win. Like cool,
- 3:32Speaker 3: you made the playoffs cool, which is really hard to do.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Right.
- 3:34Speaker 3: That's where I think my frustration has come in, and
- 3:37Speaker 3: people are like, oh, he hates the RS. I love
- 3:39Speaker 3: the Brewers. If you know me, I love the Brewers.
- 3:40Speaker 3: I love Matt Arnold, I love Pat Murphy, I love
- 3:43Speaker 3: the Brewers Stadium. I loved going there.
- 3:44Speaker 1: It's great.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Okay, So don't don't put those words in my mind
- 3:47Speaker 3: because I've never said that, But as a fan, I
- 3:50Speaker 3: would have liked to just have seen him go. And
- 3:52Speaker 3: we talk about this all. We talk about the Rays,
- 3:54Speaker 3: we talk about some of these smaller market we just
- 3:56Speaker 3: say the Orioles all the time. Man, those years, they
- 3:59Speaker 3: needed to take that next step, and they did. I
- 4:00Speaker 3: guess with Corbyn Burns didn't work out.
- 4:02Speaker 4: Yeah, but my problem is twofold. We'll get back to
- 4:06Speaker 4: the plays.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Okay, let's go back to the Corbyn Burns. The players
- 4:10Speaker 3: they gave up to the Orioles or to the Brewers
- 4:14Speaker 3: for Corbyn Burns.
- 4:15Speaker 4: How are they doing Joey Ortiz and dal Hall. Yeah,
- 4:20Speaker 4: I'll take Corbyn Burns, thank you.
- 4:24Speaker 3: I don't. I mean, Joey Ortiz has been a fine
- 4:26Speaker 3: he's he's a serviceable big league player. He's not a
- 4:28Speaker 3: special player. Deal Hall has been in and out of
- 4:31Speaker 3: the pitching because he's hurt. I think there was one
- 4:33Speaker 3: other guy in that deal.
- 4:34Speaker 4: But corn Burns reason why stars get paid so much money.
- 4:38Speaker 4: It is a free marketplace, and the industry says these
- 4:42Speaker 4: guys are worth so much more than everyone else.
- 4:45Speaker 3: That is how he and then the other thing they
- 4:47Speaker 3: brought up was the two thousand and eight uh c
- 4:50Speaker 3: CC Sabbathia trade. Okay, CC got him into the postseason.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Legitimize the Brewers because they were bad for a long time. Relegitimates,
- 4:57Speaker 3: really relegitimize the Brewers as a big league for Okay,
- 5:01Speaker 3: sure they lost in the first round, Okay, that's a crap.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Shoot.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Fine, But then they were like, oh, the guys we
- 5:06Speaker 3: gave up, you know, we had to give up Michael Brandley.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Michael Branley was the throw in. Matt Laporta was the guy.
- 5:12Speaker 3: The other guys in that trade were the guys that
- 5:14Speaker 3: they thought were going to be so good. Michael Branley
- 5:16Speaker 3: was literally the throw in. He just turned out to
- 5:18Speaker 3: be really good. That's why these rankings and all that doesn't.
- 5:21Speaker 3: I mean, I was never on the top one hundred list.
- 5:23Speaker 3: We had joke with JJ Cooper all the time. Yeah,
- 5:26Speaker 3: we're nineteen years in the Mazet' never made any of
- 5:28Speaker 3: those lists.
- 5:28Speaker 4: You didn't have to trade Jesus Matte to get this
- 5:31Speaker 4: deal done.
- 5:32Speaker 2: It's a fact it is.
- 5:34Speaker 4: There was a prospect package that would have gotten this done.
- 5:38Speaker 4: Adding more right, Oh, we included three hitters, and two
- 5:41Speaker 4: of them were in the top one hundred. Okay, well
- 5:43Speaker 4: there's another one in the top one hundred. You might
- 5:44Speaker 4: have had to add him. You might have had to
- 5:46Speaker 4: make it for you. You might have had to add
- 5:48Speaker 4: remember Anderson.
- 5:49Speaker 2: There was a combination that worked that would have gotten
- 5:51Speaker 2: you over the top. That wouldn't have killed your franchise forever.
- 5:54Speaker 2: This was your schoogl for.
- 5:55Speaker 4: CSI go ahead, you go, and then there's four types
- 5:58Speaker 4: of Bruis fans that I want to lay out.
- 6:00Speaker 3: So I remember this. I remember two thousand and three offseason.
- 6:02Speaker 3: I got traded to the Giants. Okay, the night before
- 6:05Speaker 3: I got traded, or the day before, I got a
- 6:06Speaker 3: call from La Troy Hawkins, but he said, you're going
- 6:08Speaker 3: to the Cubs. You're going to be traded to the Cubs.
- 6:11Speaker 3: Dusty called me about you and he said, you know,
- 6:14Speaker 3: I love you. I want you to come with the
- 6:16Speaker 3: Cubs of me. Okay, the next morning I wake up.
- 6:18Speaker 3: I was traded to the Giants. Why because at the
- 6:22Speaker 3: last minute it was Joe Nathan Booth Bonser and they
- 6:24Speaker 3: threw in Francisco Lariano, who at the time was an
- 6:27Speaker 3: a ball guy. Nobody knew who the heck he was. Okay,
- 6:29Speaker 3: they threw him in the Cubs. Whatever their Cubs package was.
- 6:33Speaker 3: The Twins are like, screw that, we're going to take
- 6:35Speaker 3: this package. Well, the Giants really wanted me at the time,
- 6:37Speaker 3: so they threw in that extra player that got it done.
- 6:39Speaker 3: If you want to get the deal done, you want
- 6:41Speaker 3: a player. About it up, There is a package to
- 6:43Speaker 3: get it done. I'm sorry, and that's the way I
- 6:46Speaker 3: look at it. If I'm a GM and there's a
- 6:48Speaker 3: I use the Red Sox. They really wanted Adley Retchmand.
- 6:51Speaker 3: They threw in their top two pitching prospects and said Orioles,
- 6:54Speaker 3: go get them, Tigers, go get them Orioles, because we'll
- 6:57Speaker 3: see what happens. But we really want Adli. Fine, if
- 7:00Speaker 3: that's your progative. Is a GYM, mat Arnold has a
- 7:02Speaker 3: right to say no to this. And Scott Harris has
- 7:05Speaker 3: a right to pick this prospect package over this prospect package,
- 7:08Speaker 3: and he chose the Dodgers over the Brewers. That's his right.
- 7:12Speaker 1: It's fine.
- 7:15Speaker 2: For parents looking for a new path to help your
- 7:17Speaker 2: child succeed this year, there's still time to enroll in

- 8:14Speaker 2: It is fine.
- 8:15Speaker 4: And right now I'm seeing four versions of Brewers fans.
- 8:19Speaker 4: There's two that I like and there's two that I
- 8:21Speaker 4: don't like. Do you want the ones I like or
- 8:23Speaker 4: don't like?
- 8:23Speaker 2: First? Would you like the ones I like?
- 8:30Speaker 3: No, let's go, let's go negative win.
- 8:32Speaker 2: The ones we don't like first. Okay.
- 8:34Speaker 4: One set of Brewers fans said, we could not have
- 8:38Speaker 4: landed this player. They did not like our prospects. We
- 8:42Speaker 4: could not have gotten Schooble. This Macalvey report proves it. No,
- 8:46Speaker 4: it doesn't he's laying out some of the players that
- 8:49Speaker 4: were put in this proporm one.
- 8:51Speaker 3: But how does he know that?
- 8:52Speaker 1: How does he know?
- 8:53Speaker 2: Well, the team tells him this, Oh okay, and then
- 8:56Speaker 2: on the play. I don't think the team's lying, but
- 8:58Speaker 2: people are like, see this proof. It's been an hour
- 9:01Speaker 2: of FT and you haven't shown that. You're wrong.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Guys, they could not have landed Okay, So we're reading
- 9:06Speaker 4: the article wrong.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Let's read through it together. We should do a live
- 9:09Speaker 2: session where.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Books aren't as great as the brewers think they are.
- 9:12Speaker 2: That's fine, but still they could have gotten him. So
- 9:14Speaker 2: that's number one.
- 9:15Speaker 4: That's one set of Buruis fans that's say, no, FT,
- 9:18Speaker 4: we could not have landed him.
- 9:19Speaker 2: That's false, that's fiction. That's one.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Number two is the set of Buris fans that say,
- 9:25Speaker 4: Logan Henderson un till I die. I'm not trading Terrek
- 9:27Speaker 4: Scouble for him. That's fine, that's your choice. I would
- 9:31Speaker 4: have gone the other route. Many other gms would have two.
- 9:33Speaker 4: That's two of them. Here's the other two. One set,
- 9:36Speaker 4: what are we doing why didn't we get Terrek Scouble?
- 9:37Speaker 4: We've never won a World Series?
- 9:39Speaker 2: We love you.
- 9:39Speaker 4: Here's another set. Last set, which I think is very interesting.
- 9:43Speaker 4: We didn't get Schooble. I value them for trying, But wait,
- 9:46Speaker 4: hold up, Dustin May? Okay, where was Clay Holmes? Where
- 9:52Speaker 4: was Robbie Ray? Where was Casey Mice. I hope that
- 9:55Speaker 4: the organization's right that Dustin May is better than all
- 9:58Speaker 4: of these guys, because if we're huffing and puffing, we
- 10:01Speaker 4: have the best prospects in the sport, and we didn't
- 10:03Speaker 4: get Schooble. Why didn't we get one or even two
- 10:06Speaker 4: of these other guys that could start a playoff game
- 10:08Speaker 4: for us? I better not be watching bullpen games every
- 10:10Speaker 4: day in October. That's the other subset of Bruce fans
- 10:13Speaker 4: that are pissed right now. I'm over Schooble, but what
- 10:15Speaker 4: happened on Monday? I got two bullpen guys that I
- 10:18Speaker 4: think I'll like, But are we just going to be
- 10:19Speaker 4: bullpenning our way through October? And they did at some
- 10:22Speaker 4: point miss and bullpen. They're gonna get wrecked at some point.
- 10:25Speaker 4: If it's bullpen day every single day. You can't do
- 10:27Speaker 4: that every day. Some teams have won with like two
- 10:30Speaker 4: starters three starts. You can't just win with MS and
- 10:34Speaker 4: or Harrison. I don't think. I hope I'm wrong. I
- 10:37Speaker 4: hope I'm wrong. I want the Bruis doing the World Series.
- 10:40Speaker 4: They've never won one. Usually we're all rooting for the
- 10:43Speaker 4: team that's never won. If you just don't have any
- 10:45Speaker 4: dog in the fight, you want to see a team out. Yes,
- 10:47Speaker 4: even in twenty sixteen, you probably were like, Nope, no, okay,
- 10:51Speaker 4: I was never gonna go there.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Those words will never come out of my mouth.
- 10:55Speaker 1: I was not.
- 10:55Speaker 3: I was rooting for Cleveland. I'll admit, I freely admit that. Nope,
- 10:58Speaker 3: that is one million percent true.
- 11:00Speaker 6: I took a bad turn. But so what do you
- 11:02Speaker 6: think about the four four where you are yes? But
- 11:06Speaker 6: the problem is the first two that you said that
- 11:07Speaker 6: are so negative. I'm just attacked, you know. I don't
- 11:11Speaker 6: even go ahead, No, it's fine, it's fine.
- 11:13Speaker 3: I just love when they're like, well, these guys were
- 11:15Speaker 3: backwards hats, so they're stupid, Like it's like automatically that's
- 11:19Speaker 3: their argument. It's like, what are you talking about. I
- 11:21Speaker 3: can wear my hat forward, I can wear my yeah,
- 11:23Speaker 3: I'll wear my half for you know. I don't wear
- 11:25Speaker 3: wear a hat backwards because I don't want to show off.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Show off crats with my glorious locks and crats. So
- 11:31Speaker 3: if I if I didn't, if I didn't have such
- 11:33Speaker 3: good hair, then it's my fault that I wear my
- 11:34Speaker 3: hat backwards.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Crats.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I could care less that I wear my hat backwards.
- 11:38Speaker 1: I don't care less than I'm bald. I wear a
- 11:40Speaker 1: hat because it was something cool. When we started the show,
- 11:44Speaker 1: I had like one hundred and eighty six different hats
- 11:46Speaker 1: that I was gonna wear, So bald really doesn't matter.
- 11:49Speaker 1: I'm going to add a fifth set. And it's on
- 11:51Speaker 1: the fan Brewer fans that I don't like, the ones
- 11:55Speaker 1: who are like, this is a conspiracy. He wanted to
- 11:59Speaker 1: go to the Dodger. All they were doing was just saying, oh, Derek,
- 12:04Speaker 1: where do you want to go? Oh? You want to
- 12:05Speaker 1: go to the Dodgers. Okay, this is the thousand percent
- 12:10Speaker 1: the Brewer or Major League Baseball making them trade him
- 12:15Speaker 1: to the Dodgers. That's what this was.
- 12:18Speaker 4: I don't wait, no, you just wait yeah, hold up,
- 12:20Speaker 4: no no, no, no, no no, this needs to be
- 12:22Speaker 4: cleared up.
- 12:23Speaker 2: You just brought up two different scenarios. Nope, nope, you
- 12:25Speaker 2: brought up two scenarios in one not fair.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Ready, there is the contingent of owners that think, you
- 12:33Speaker 4: know what, it's not the worst thing if Terry Skoogle
- 12:35Speaker 4: ends up on the Dodgers and they just sweep through
- 12:37Speaker 4: the playoffs and win it. That's different from a team
- 12:40Speaker 4: asking a player where he wants to go.
- 12:42Speaker 2: That doesn't happen.
- 12:43Speaker 4: And I actually saw that from many people commenting on
- 12:46Speaker 4: baseball like, oh, well, you know how it works.
- 12:48Speaker 2: They ask the player where he wants to go.
- 12:49Speaker 4: I was like, since when they do that when the
- 12:51Speaker 4: player has a no trade clause, because they have no
- 12:53Speaker 4: control if they don't have a no trade clause, they
- 12:56Speaker 4: do not check with the player and say, we're getting
- 12:58Speaker 4: a worse offer from the Dogs, but I heard you
- 13:01Speaker 4: want to go there, so we're going to be nice
- 13:02Speaker 4: to you. The Tigers are pissed at Schooble, not like
- 13:04Speaker 4: for what he's done, but they wanted him there and
- 13:06Speaker 4: they can't come up to terms.
- 13:07Speaker 2: They're not like, oh, let me make sure it's a
- 13:09Speaker 2: cushy landing spot for him. That's ridiculous.
- 13:12Speaker 3: I agree, that's that I've seen, though I've seen that.
- 13:17Speaker 4: What Yeah, you've you've seen teams talk to players about
- 13:19Speaker 4: where they want to go. This was not one of
- 13:21Speaker 4: those situations.
- 13:22Speaker 1: No, no, yes.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Usually though, it would be a guy that's late in
- 13:26Speaker 3: his career, it's getting towards the end, and they'll say, hey,
- 13:30Speaker 3: we have a chance to trade you to A or
- 13:31Speaker 3: B is.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Yeah, but the deals are similar. That's not when you're
- 13:35Speaker 2: the top starter.
- 13:37Speaker 3: They didn't go to school LA and they're like, okay,
- 13:40Speaker 3: you're going to LA no matter what they offer us.
- 13:43Speaker 3: I know Harris, isn't that dumb.
- 13:44Speaker 2: No, he's not that dumb.
- 13:46Speaker 4: He liked the final offer that he got from the
- 13:49Speaker 4: Dodgers better than what he got from the Brewers. I
- 13:53Speaker 4: guarantee you if we sat down with Scott Harris and
- 13:56Speaker 4: said we're they're three were they're four players on the
- 13:59Speaker 4: Brewers aside from Jesus Mane in the organization that would
- 14:03Speaker 4: have landed you Brewer's package versus Dodgers package.
- 14:06Speaker 2: He would have said yes.
- 14:09Speaker 1: And this is not this is not just a one
- 14:11Speaker 1: way street. The Tigers say hey, I would like this guy.
- 14:16Speaker 1: They do it all in tiers. Hey, we feel like
- 14:19Speaker 1: trek Scuble is worth this tier one from this tier
- 14:23Speaker 1: one from this tier, and each team evaluates each of
- 14:26Speaker 1: those differently and for everybody who's like, oh, actually, do
- 14:30Speaker 1: some have some ball knowledge, Actually do some research. We
- 14:34Speaker 1: do a ton of research, and the only name that's
- 14:36Speaker 1: come out is Louis Pana. Everything else is conjecture. There's
- 14:41Speaker 1: no other. When Scott says Jet Williams, that doesn't mean
- 14:44Speaker 1: Jet Williams was in it. We're talking about other hitters
- 14:49Speaker 1: that are in the top one hundred. That is it.
- 14:52Speaker 1: There's no like. So unless you say Louise Pania, no
- 14:56Speaker 1: chance we're getting Trek Scubel to get rid of Louis
- 14:58Speaker 1: Pana like it's the only real name. There is no way.
- 15:02Speaker 1: It was a different package. The package was liked better
- 15:06Speaker 1: by the Tigers from the Dodgers. There, that's it. There's nothing.
- 15:13Speaker 1: If the Pots the Brewers wanted to get it done,
- 15:15Speaker 1: they needed a better package.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Hope, to me is the key the Tigers sink. Hope
- 15:20Speaker 3: is going to be a stud That's what it came
- 15:21Speaker 3: down to for me. And listen for all the people
- 15:23Speaker 3: saying River Ryan had a one point three to three
- 15:25Speaker 3: ERA when he was healthy. He's been in the big
- 15:27Speaker 3: leagues one time, okay, and that year he had a
- 15:30Speaker 3: one point three to three ERA. In twenty innings, tony innings. Okay.
- 15:35Speaker 3: He also walked nine in twenty innings. Okay. Now this
- 15:38Speaker 3: year in Triple A he is three and one with
- 15:42Speaker 3: a four point four six ERA, thirty six innings, forty
- 15:47Speaker 3: three strikeouts. Okay, fine, he's also twenty eight years old. Okay.
- 15:51Speaker 3: And then the other thing is we all know who
- 15:53Speaker 3: Logan Henderson is. To stop saying we don't know who
- 15:55Speaker 3: Logan Henderson is. He pitched really well last night for
- 15:58Speaker 3: the Brewers. I've watched Logan Henderson pitch. I've done a
- 16:00Speaker 3: game where Logan Henderson started the game. He's a really
- 16:03Speaker 3: good pitcher. But I'm just gonna ask this question, playing
- 16:06Speaker 3: and simple to all you brew fans out there. Would
- 16:09Speaker 3: you rather have miss and Logan Henderson or miss in
- 16:12Speaker 3: Trek's schooble pitching against a playoff series? Playing pitching in
- 16:16Speaker 3: a playoff series? If for as you're one two, that's
- 16:19Speaker 3: that's the simple question. And if your opinion is Logan Henderson,
- 16:22Speaker 3: then I'm proud of you Brewer fans. You got Logan Henderson.
- 16:25Speaker 3: But for this year, if your answer is Trek Schoogle,
- 16:28Speaker 3: then you make the deal for Terrek School.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Yeah, very simple that's it.
- 16:31Speaker 3: That's that's that's it, that's all of it.
- 16:32Speaker 4: And also I still think there was a world where
- 16:34Speaker 4: Henderson didn't even need to be included and they still
- 16:36Speaker 4: could have come up with the right package. Would it
- 16:38Speaker 4: have had to potentially be four or five guys, maybe.
- 16:41Speaker 2: But that was your choice.
- 16:43Speaker 4: And Brewers fans still coming after me about all of this,
- 16:47Speaker 4: have not answered the question of do you hate Robbie Ray,
- 16:50Speaker 4: do you hate Casey Nice? Do you hate Clay Holmes?
- 16:52Speaker 4: Do you hate Jose Soriano? How far down do we
- 16:55Speaker 4: need to go? Do you hate Trebbor Rogers?
- 16:56Speaker 2: Right? Should we just keep going with players that were
- 16:59Speaker 2: not at it?
- 17:02Speaker 3: I don't know. I'm done talking about this. They didn't
- 17:04Speaker 3: get them, and I'm tired of fighting with people that
- 17:06Speaker 3: that are keyboard warriors. So congratulations Burus. I hope you
- 17:08Speaker 3: win the World Series.
- 17:09Speaker 4: And for Burrs fans that don't care about this year
- 17:12Speaker 4: as much, I really really am rooting for you in
- 17:15Speaker 4: twenty eighty nine, I won't be here, but I'm rooting
- 17:18Speaker 4: for you.
- 17:19Speaker 1: I think the Brewers still have a chance, Just to
- 17:21Speaker 1: be honest.
- 17:21Speaker 2: I do they definitely do what I'm saying.
- 17:23Speaker 3: We're not saying that everything's.
- 17:26Speaker 4: Going to take so literally right now, if the Brewers win,
- 17:29Speaker 4: it's going to be all they hated them, They're terrible.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Now.
- 17:32Speaker 4: All we're saying is when you have an opportunity to
- 17:35Speaker 4: get a big player like School or again, Option B
- 17:38Speaker 4: a number of pictures that I listed to me, I'm
- 17:41Speaker 4: just wondering, why did you not like all of those
- 17:44Speaker 4: other pictures I just listed? Because I do.
- 17:46Speaker 3: I like them, Cubs like them, and then in your
- 17:49Speaker 3: division and they're gonna you're gonna end up probably maybe
- 17:51Speaker 3: playing them in the postseason.
- 17:53Speaker 4: So it just puts a lot of heat on your players.
- 17:55Speaker 4: They they have to all perform and make sure that
- 17:58Speaker 4: what they got was enough, because if not.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Manny Machado twenty eighteen, Manny Minchada was almost a Brewer
- 18:05Speaker 1: to the point where Manny Machado asked somebody to take
- 18:08Speaker 1: his equipment from the All Star Game back to Milwaukee.
- 18:13Speaker 1: That's how close Manny Machado was to being a Brewer.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Does Manny Machado help us win a World Series? I
- 18:20Speaker 1: don't know. Mike Mustakis ended up being the third baseman
- 18:23Speaker 1: we picked up, moving Travis Shaal to second or Moose
- 18:26Speaker 1: to second whatever scope we picked up. Also, they had
- 18:29Speaker 1: some big hits for us. Does that make the difference?
- 18:32Speaker 1: I don't know, but if you can guarantee me that
- 18:35Speaker 1: somebody is going to make the difference, I think there's
- 18:38Speaker 1: a time you got to move in or you're always
- 18:40Speaker 1: just making the playoffs.
- 18:42Speaker 4: Wait, I have one quick follow up question, because I
- 18:44Speaker 4: forgot about this. Kraft was on that team in twenty eighteen.
- 18:47Speaker 4: What was everyone saying when you didn't come up with Machado?
- 18:52Speaker 1: They honestly, we didn't know about it until after the
- 18:55Speaker 1: trade deadline, but at that time we had gotten Moose,
- 18:57Speaker 1: and Moose came and just killed it right away, so
- 19:01Speaker 1: nobody really cared.
- 19:03Speaker 2: But because you got an option B that was good.
- 19:07Speaker 1: We got an option B that was good, which is
- 19:09Speaker 1: exactly what you're saying, Scott. Yes, and that's why I
- 19:12Speaker 1: asked you say, did Manny Machado help the Dodgers get
- 19:18Speaker 1: to the World Series. No, he actually fell in his
- 19:20Speaker 1: face that Championship series, but he was on that team,
- 19:25Speaker 1: so you never know. And I've talked about it countless
- 19:29Speaker 1: times about the Jacob de Gram for Corbyn Burns. Never
- 19:33Speaker 1: would that be a good trade for the future and
- 19:35Speaker 1: That's what people need to get through their head is
- 19:38Speaker 1: it's never a good trade for the future if you
- 19:40Speaker 1: have legitimate players that you're trading away. The issue is
- 19:45Speaker 1: how much of those legitimate players you're trading away helping
- 19:48Speaker 1: the current team. Luis Pana even Heesus made any of
- 19:52Speaker 1: those guys, are they going to help you win a
- 19:54Speaker 1: World Series this year? The answer is no. Jacob de
- 19:58Speaker 1: Gram would have come over. Come over in eighteen. Corman
- 20:02Speaker 1: Burns helped us, Big Will helped us. He had a
- 20:05Speaker 1: dinger against Clayton Kershaw in Game one of the NLCS.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Like so they're different cases. But all this stuffs tried
- 20:14Speaker 1: to tried to figure it out before and coming up
- 20:18Speaker 1: to the trade deadline, and you know what, they didn't
- 20:20Speaker 1: get the job done. And the Brewers can still win.
- 20:23Speaker 1: FT is not saying the Brewers can't still win.
- 20:27Speaker 4: This is that time of year, aj It is Baseball's
- 20:30Speaker 4: time to shine, and it is sea Geek's time to
- 20:33Speaker 4: shine with MLB tickets and finding the best pricing seating
- 20:38Speaker 4: and games that are even sold out available on sea geek.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Absolutely if you want to go to the biggest matchups
- 20:45Speaker 3: coming up, we have Yankees, Cubs, coming up, Where's Yankees
- 20:48Speaker 3: red sox? That means stuff. Again, there's some big moments
- 20:50Speaker 3: that are coming up here and the as the penachases
- 20:53Speaker 3: really heat up, go to seke can find those green
- 20:56Speaker 3: tickets with the best deals and get yourself out to
- 20:58Speaker 3: an MLB game.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and they're straightforward with you.
- 21:02Speaker 4: They will actually put a red dot next to a
- 21:04Speaker 4: ticket that they don't feel is your best. Look. Green
- 21:08Speaker 4: dot means very good code for you. It's Territory ten
- 21:13Speaker 4: ten percent off your next set of MLB tickets at Seakeek.
- 21:16Speaker 4: That's ten percent off MLB tickets when you use the
- 21:19Speaker 4: promo code Territory one zero. Make sure you click the
- 21:22Speaker 4: link in the description to download the app and have
- 21:24Speaker 4: the code automatically added to your account so you can
- 21:26Speaker 4: use it later.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:28Speaker 4: The core argument is just the amount of people that
- 21:32Speaker 4: I think it's okay that you don't land a starter
- 21:36Speaker 4: like that, and how dare we want the brewers to
- 21:40Speaker 4: be better?
- 21:42Speaker 2: I just don't get. I'm like, what are we playing
- 21:44Speaker 2: the game for anymore?
- 21:46Speaker 3: Okay, But it was also again, they're going to have
- 21:49Speaker 3: to I'm just going to say this, They're going to
- 21:52Speaker 3: have to go through the Dodgers, Cuds, Phillies' Braves. Those
- 21:56Speaker 3: four teams are going to probably more likely be in
- 21:58Speaker 3: the I mean, let's something crazy happens. Cubs are in,
- 22:00Speaker 3: Dodgers are going to be in, Braves are gonna be in.
- 22:02Speaker 3: There's three of the and then the Brewers. There's four.
- 22:06Speaker 3: There's probably gonna be the Phillies, Yeah, and then the
- 22:09Speaker 3: Padres are Diamondbacks is the sixth. They'll be the There'll
- 22:12Speaker 3: be the four seeds. So they're gonna have to play.
- 22:14Speaker 3: I mean, they're gonna be probably the one or of
- 22:15Speaker 3: the two, so they'll get a bye. So they're either
- 22:17Speaker 3: gonna get Braves, Padres, Diamondbacks and then Phillies, Uh, Cubs Cubs. Right,
- 22:27Speaker 3: So let's say they're the Let's say they're the one
- 22:29Speaker 3: seed and the and the Cubs are the top wild
- 22:31Speaker 3: card and they get through, and then the Braves and
- 22:34Speaker 3: are Brewers and Cubs or Brewers and Cubs have to
- 22:36Speaker 3: play again like they did last year, and the Cubs
- 22:39Speaker 3: go Holmes Imanaga, I mean Gosman. And with their defense
- 22:48Speaker 3: and the way they're swinging, do you feel.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Good about that?
- 22:50Speaker 2: John? I think is going to be really helpful.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Deephyr John was nasty. He was nasty. I don't know,
- 22:57Speaker 3: it's just it's just us. Can the Brewers do it? Absolutely,
- 22:59Speaker 3: kN the Brewers do it.
- 23:01Speaker 2: But if they don't, I'm not going to.
- 23:03Speaker 3: Say I told you so, because it's it's not in
- 23:05Speaker 3: our nature. But if they do do it, then we'll
- 23:07Speaker 3: have autotal.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Well, it's in my nature, so I'm gonna do it.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Okay, Well, because you know what, sometimes we fall on
- 23:16Speaker 4: our face too and we're dead wrong and we say
- 23:18Speaker 4: I'm dead wrong. But right now, we'll see what happens.
- 23:21Speaker 4: Let's get to one other issue in Milwaukee right now,
- 23:24Speaker 4: booing of Christian Yelich. Pat Murphy for his manager, talked
- 23:27Speaker 4: about it.
- 23:28Speaker 7: I heard a couple of fans today, you know, the
- 23:31Speaker 7: kind of start getting down on yellye. And I know
- 23:33Speaker 7: some of you guys are talking about the last this
- 23:37Speaker 7: many games or that many like. Look, guys, this guy's
- 23:40Speaker 7: meant unbelievable amount to our organization and the way he
- 23:45Speaker 7: leads in there. You guys don't get to see. He
- 23:47Speaker 7: doesn't need my protection, he doesn't need me to speak
- 23:49Speaker 7: up for him, but he needs encouragement. So I'm asking
- 23:53Speaker 7: the fans to understand this.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Guy.
- 23:55Speaker 7: Remember who this guy was?
- 23:57Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 23:58Speaker 7: I don't know how many MVP the Brewers have had
- 24:01Speaker 7: in their past history MVPs. I mean, I'm just saying, Yellie,
- 24:04Speaker 7: Like God, he basically won two too. If nineteen he
- 24:07Speaker 7: doesn't go down at the end, he wins that. So
- 24:10Speaker 7: let's not forget what he's done, and that doesn't give
- 24:12Speaker 7: him the grace to not If he's in the lineup,
- 24:13Speaker 7: he's got to perform, and he will.
- 24:15Speaker 3: We just can't.
- 24:17Speaker 7: We can't start piling on when this guy's done a lot.
- 24:20Speaker 7: He deserves the respect and hopefully hopefully our fans understand that.
- 24:28Speaker 7: That's when again, if we're going to thread the needle,
- 24:30Speaker 7: we need Yelly.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Do you think they're going to give him the trade
- 24:34Speaker 2: turner treatment.
- 24:37Speaker 3: I think brewis fan.
- 24:38Speaker 1: I think it's it's a minority that was booing them.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I think it's fair.
- 24:42Speaker 4: I mean, I don't remember, well he heard some enough
- 24:47Speaker 4: booing that he felt like he needed to say something.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I don't think I don't think they needed wouldn't look
- 24:54Speaker 1: back at his two m VP seasons. I know he
- 24:57Speaker 1: only won one m v P, but those two seasons
- 24:59Speaker 1: were elite. Last year he was a ridiculous contributor to
- 25:04Speaker 1: this team. A three war, a two point three war
- 25:07Speaker 1: in seventy three games, an All Star in twenty four
- 25:11Speaker 1: Like this dude is everything that Pat Murphy said he is,
- 25:18Speaker 1: and he means everything to all these young guys that
- 25:22Speaker 1: are doing well. I would bet for Christian Yellis to
- 25:28Speaker 1: be a major part of this team. If they're gonna win,
- 25:30Speaker 1: he has to do well, and I think he will.
- 25:34Speaker 3: What did Murph's meant when he say thread the needle?
- 25:37Speaker 3: If we're gonna thread the needle?
- 25:38Speaker 1: What is that?
- 25:39Speaker 5: What?
- 25:39Speaker 3: I want to know? That's what I've been my follow up?
- 25:41Speaker 3: What do you mean Murph by threading the needle? I
- 25:44Speaker 3: don't know. That was when he his quote to me
- 25:47Speaker 3: was we're gonna if we're gonna thread the needle, what
- 25:49Speaker 3: does that mean? I would that would be my follow up.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Whoever was in that room, Mcalvey, whoever it is, I
- 25:54Speaker 3: would have said, what does threading the needle mean?
- 25:56Speaker 1: It means it's hard to win the World Series? Oh,
- 26:00Speaker 1: that's what it means.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Oh, oh okay, I don't know. It was just an
- 26:07Speaker 3: interesting choice of words from Murph to Saint. Thread the needle.
- 26:10Speaker 4: Sometimes managers are very calculated with how they say things,
- 26:17Speaker 4: not holding back. I'm saying there are messages within their words.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's why I want That's why it was
- 26:22Speaker 3: very interesting. Yes, and Murph is one of the best
- 26:24Speaker 3: at doing that.
- 26:25Speaker 2: He's so good at it.
- 26:26Speaker 3: That's why I was wondering what that means.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Yeah, we never saw it. We never even talked about
- 26:31Speaker 1: this when we were in Milwaukee. AJ kind of got
- 26:34Speaker 1: like bit by Murph a little bit when we were
- 26:37Speaker 1: at the BBW a's last year because AJ said something
- 26:41Speaker 1: about like, oh, college something, and he goes, oh, you know,
- 26:44Speaker 1: is that like a negative connotation. AJ's like what, No,
- 26:49Speaker 1: But Trevor McGill came on the show and was like,
- 26:53Speaker 1: we kind of we kind of have that, like Murph
- 26:55Speaker 1: kind of has that like college mentality. So I wonder
- 26:58Speaker 1: if he bit back at Trevor McGill. I know this
- 27:01Speaker 1: was this was back a few a few days when
- 27:04Speaker 1: we were in Milwaukee. But AJ called called a spade
- 27:07Speaker 1: a spade exactly, and Trevor McGill said it said the
- 27:12Speaker 1: exact same thing. I don't know. I think that college
- 27:15Speaker 1: mentality is a positive thing that the locker room sees
- 27:19Speaker 1: and I think Murph is sometimes like no, no, no, no,
- 27:22Speaker 1: no no.
- 27:23Speaker 3: I meant that as a compliment. I think that's awesome
- 27:26Speaker 3: the way they I love the way they play the game.
- 27:28Speaker 3: I cannot compliment the Brewers anymore. And I've said it
- 27:31Speaker 3: to Murph and I'll say it to murp till I
- 27:33Speaker 3: die that I love the way he goes about what
- 27:35Speaker 3: he does and the way he protects his players, and
- 27:38Speaker 3: they play baseball like an older school type, right, They're
- 27:41Speaker 3: not relying on homers, And I love that. I meant
- 27:43Speaker 3: that as a compliment. I've told Murph that, I'm like, Murph,
- 27:45Speaker 3: I meant that as a compliment. If you have a
- 27:47Speaker 3: problem with it, then I can't help you with that.
- 27:49Speaker 4: My thing is I like how he does actually call
- 27:51Speaker 4: guys out gracefully sometimes, Like if you're a manager that
- 27:55Speaker 4: just always defends every single iota of what a player does,
- 27:59Speaker 4: then nobody really is listening to you because they know
- 28:02Speaker 4: that you're just, for a lack of a better term, homer, Right, Murph.
- 28:05Speaker 4: Sometimes I'm like, yeah, he's really been bad lately, and
- 28:08Speaker 4: here's what I'm seeing. And to me, I think that's
- 28:11Speaker 4: more endearing to actually explain what's going on true more
- 28:16Speaker 4: real anyway.
- 28:18Speaker 3: So, like I said, I love Murph, I love Matt Arnold,
- 28:21Speaker 3: I love Vasalo, I love Bernie Brewer, I love I
- 28:24Speaker 3: think the Brewers are awesome. I think they're fun. I
- 28:26Speaker 3: can't wait to go there in the postseason. It's going
- 28:28Speaker 3: to be a rocking.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Yep, Jerry.
- 28:31Speaker 3: If they play the Cubs, I hope they sweep them.
- 28:34Speaker 3: I hope they win in five because that means I
- 28:36Speaker 3: get to go to more playoff games. But I mean,
- 28:38Speaker 3: obviously we all know where I stand on that one.
- 28:41Speaker 4: More steak dinners for aj Oh Carnivore. Yeah, there's some
- 28:44Speaker 4: good ones out in Chicago, Okay. Jerry Depoto, running the
- 28:48Speaker 4: front office for the Mariners for a while, did a
- 28:51Speaker 4: little bit of buying, and he was asked about Kate Anderson,
- 28:55Speaker 4: who is one of the top pitching arms in the sport,
- 28:59Speaker 4: pitching pross to arms in the sport, and when we
- 29:02Speaker 4: could see him and how they might implement.
- 29:07Speaker 8: Yeah, we're not going to put Kay in a bolt.
- 29:09Speaker 8: Then he's the best starting pitcher in the minor leagues.
- 29:11Speaker 8: I think he leads to the minor leagues and everything,
- 29:13Speaker 8: not the Texas League, but the minor leagues, and you know,
- 29:16Speaker 8: he is trending in every way you can. There's extra
- 29:21Speaker 8: velocity there. The precision has come so far even since
- 29:25Speaker 8: the day he signed. He's doing everything we could possibly expect.
- 29:28Speaker 8: Their ask Cub. We want to build his innings. I
- 29:31Speaker 8: think he's at eighty two today and for us to
- 29:34Speaker 8: put him in a bullpen right now would be irresponsible
- 29:36Speaker 8: for his future development. There is going to come a
- 29:39Speaker 8: time where we get to a juncture in the season
- 29:43Speaker 8: where we're no longer concerned right now he is the
- 29:45Speaker 8: next starter up, you know, and for us that that
- 29:49Speaker 8: is an important element, especially now with louis no longer here.
- 29:53Speaker 8: Five traditional starters on the major league club, you know,
- 29:56Speaker 8: and having a guy like Kate in the background is
- 30:00Speaker 8: a really positive thing. So to shorten him up would
- 30:03Speaker 8: not be something we would consider. We may get into
- 30:07Speaker 8: September if we don't need to tap the extra starter
- 30:10Speaker 8: now we can talk about more creative things, but we're
- 30:12Speaker 8: not going to plan on a runway would more likely
- 30:15Speaker 8: be creative and how we use them as a as
- 30:17Speaker 8: a major league once he gets here.
- 30:21Speaker 4: Jerry Depoto was a big league pitcher the Mariners I
- 30:25Speaker 4: think have done as good a job as any team
- 30:27Speaker 4: of developing and keeping their pitching healthy. I purposely found
- 30:32Speaker 4: this quote for Krats because we've seen some top end
- 30:35Speaker 4: prospects come up to the show and they do a
- 30:37Speaker 4: little bit of foot seat and they dance around. This
- 30:40Speaker 4: does not sound like a guy who is going to
- 30:42Speaker 4: come up to be a reliever. It does not sound
- 30:43Speaker 4: like a guy who is going to come up to
- 30:45Speaker 4: do some bulkwork like your boy Chase Dolander did for
- 30:49Speaker 4: the Rockies before he got hurt.
- 30:51Speaker 2: So I like where the Mariners heads are at.
- 30:54Speaker 1: I don't I don't want to. I don't want to
- 30:55Speaker 1: kick the Rockies. I mean, I think they're what they
- 30:57Speaker 1: were doing. They were they were looking to a lot
- 30:59Speaker 1: of games. So I don't want to kick the Rockies
- 31:02Speaker 1: when they did that as nine move. This is genius.
- 31:07Speaker 1: This is genius. And I was just looking at Kate
- 31:09Speaker 1: Anderson's numbers. There's so much that Jerry Depoto said there
- 31:14Speaker 1: that I loved. We're looking to build his innings. We
- 31:16Speaker 1: don't need to do this right now, so it means
- 31:19Speaker 1: you already have a good bullpen. He didn't say it.
- 31:21Speaker 1: It's never gonna happen in September, but he's the next
- 31:25Speaker 1: guy up. He's the next guy up, and we're gonna
- 31:27Speaker 1: want him to start. He is the best starting pitcher
- 31:29Speaker 1: in the minor leagues. He has a point six' five
- 31:33Speaker 1: whip point sixty. Five every other inning one guy gets on,
- 31:37Speaker 1: base is what that's telling. Me he's striking out thirteen
- 31:42Speaker 1: guys per nine, innings like his numbers are video game.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Esque does he want to be in the big? Leagues absolutely. Tough. Org,
- 31:51Speaker 1: sorry every one of these dudes makes. Starts but to,
- 31:55Speaker 1: me that's an environment where you show up and you're
- 31:58Speaker 1: expected to do the exact same make every one of your.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Starts so it's a good spot for The mariners to.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Have my only follow up question To Jerry depoto would
- 32:08Speaker 1: be Cam Cad anderson hit or drive a run In
- 32:12Speaker 1: that would be the only reason to get him called
- 32:14Speaker 1: up right.
- 32:15Speaker 4: Now, well his response IS i did add one bat
- 32:18Speaker 4: In Taylor. Award Brendan donovan is back and hopefully he
- 32:21Speaker 4: will do things for the. Team they Cut Rob refsnyder
- 32:24Speaker 4: And Mitch. Garber they're. TRYING i don't think the offense
- 32:29Speaker 4: is going to be this bad the whole months or two,
- 32:32Speaker 4: months and then if they get into the playoffs all.
- 32:36Speaker 2: YEAR i, know BUT i think it's gonna get a little.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Better, okay all years, years A.
- 32:41Speaker 3: J it's last year their third hitting. Coach, Okay, scott
- 32:46Speaker 3: they're gonna get. Better bobby And Magianos gott fired their
- 32:49Speaker 3: third hitting, coach not the first who is and they're
- 32:52Speaker 3: not the second who's A hall Of Famer Edgar martinez
- 32:55Speaker 3: or maybe it's Vicey. BERCY i don't. Know one guy
- 32:57Speaker 3: is A hall Of famer with the other. Guy, thanks
- 33:00Speaker 3: and then they Fired.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Bobby bobby appreciated everything you guys said that we said
- 33:04Speaker 1: on the show. Too by the, way he heard it
- 33:06Speaker 1: and he appreciated. It he's he's just one of those.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Guys
