- 0:00Genesis chapter 47 Let us pray. Our Lord our King, the Most
- 0:11High, the God of Israel, the God of the Jews.
- 0:17Lord, we worship you in spirit and truth.
- 0:20We thank you, God, for bringing us into the fold.
- 0:23We thank you, Lord, for the Messiah, Jesus our Christ, the
- 0:27anointed. We thank you for the blood that
- 0:30was spilled on Calvary. We thank you, God, for inviting
- 0:33us into the fold, for giving us life worth living, for giving us
- 0:38a reason to live. Lord, we thank you for the
- 0:42dignity that you have given us. God, we thank you for giving us
- 0:47all that we ever could need for this life and the life to come
- 0:53for the Holy Spirit, the helper who has come.
- 0:56Lord, we come in to the throne room.
- 0:59We come in, God, boldly gird up our loins so that we can stand
- 1:04in your holy presence. We only want you, Father.
- 1:08We only need you, Father. We don't care about any of the
- 1:13luxuries, God. We don't care about any of the
- 1:17delicacies, God, We only want you.
- 1:21We only want to touch from the hem of your garment.
- 1:24We receive our healing today. We receive salvation today.
- 1:29We put all of ourselves, all of our, our trust, we put our
- 1:33entire being in Christ Jesus. We know that we are seated with
- 1:40him in heavenly places. We thank you God for going to
- 1:43prepare a place for us. Help us to wait.
- 1:46Well. Help us, Father, to know that
- 1:49you're fighting our battles all around us.
- 1:51God, help us to see and to peak and to peer into the spiritual
- 1:55realm. Help us to know, Father, that
- 1:58you are God, that you're the great I am, and that we can
- 2:02trust you and that you're leading us, Father, that you are
- 2:07prodding us, God, and pulling us into a greater measure.
- 2:11Father, help us not to try and manufacture our destiny.
- 2:15Help us not to get in our own way.
- 2:17But God, I pray for the strength to hear your voice, for the
- 2:21strength to obey your voice, for the strength, God, to finish
- 2:24this race out well. Help us, Lord, not to grow
- 2:28despondent. Help us not to grow distant from
- 2:31you. Help us not to grow discouraged
- 2:33God and depressed Father. Help us not to have anxiety God,
- 2:37but we battle all of the flesh in the world and the devil God.
- 2:41Bind the enemy God and cast them into the judgment that you have
- 2:45a waiting form, God. Bind all satanic revolt from off
- 2:49of this land, from off of our families and off of our bodies.
- 2:53God and I pray that we'll be made whole and that we'll be
- 2:57holy and sanctified and anointed.
- 3:00God, as we consecrate this temple, Lord, we pull out all of
- 3:04the idol worship, all of the dross and the impurities.
- 3:07God in the canker worm. God, pull it out, Father, burn
- 3:12it. Father and I pray that we will
- 3:15be made whole and that we will be holy and we will be purified,
- 3:19Lord, because you are our everything.
- 3:23Shine upon us, Lord, Let us be light.
- 3:27Let us be salt, God, to this wicked, perverse generation.
- 3:31God, we only want to please you, Father.
- 3:34We only want more of you. Father, I pray that we'll not
- 3:38get tangled up in the affairs of this life, Father, that we'll
- 3:44actually be the ones who are pushing towards all of your
- 3:49purposes and plans for such a time as this.
- 3:53God, we do not try to hold on to this life, God, but we surrender
- 3:57it. Father, we surrender all unto
- 4:00you. We thank you, God, for your
- 4:02eternal words. We thank you God for the Bible.
- 4:06God, we stand upon this word. We stand upon the Bible, every
- 4:11syllable, God, alive and active. And we thank you God, for
- 4:15entrusting us with it. Lord, I pray that we will be men
- 4:20and women marked by your goodness and grace and and
- 4:23mercy. Lord, that will be the answer to
- 4:26all of the problems that are going on around us.
- 4:29God, help us to be faithful and to the end in Jesus Christ, holy
- 4:33and precious and powerful name. I pray all of these things,
- 4:37Father, Amen. Let's start in verse one.
- 4:46Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh and said, my father, my
- 4:50brothers, their flocks and their herds and all that they have
- 4:55have come out of the land of Canaan and behold, they are in
- 4:59the land of Goshen. So just to recap real quick, you
- 5:04already know that they have had a severe famine and it was all
- 5:13predicted by the dreams of Pharaoh and Joseph.
- 5:17Got to predict, got to tell, interpret the dreams to Pharaoh.
- 5:23And now you can see that God has got a hold of Jacob and Jacob
- 5:29has finally gone down into the land.
- 5:33And God has told him not to be fearful, but to trust the
- 5:38process. And many of us, that's where we
- 5:41need to be friends. We don't need to try to figure
- 5:43it all out. We just need to know that God is
- 5:46good and he does things that are counterintuitive to our minds
- 5:51and to our psyche. But if we'll stand on the word
- 5:54of God, we never have to worry about being put to shame.
- 5:58And God will do things that we can't even pretend to try and
- 6:04understand in the supernatural realm.
- 6:06We just get out of our own way. We give God center stage.
- 6:10We say yes and Amen to all of the words and everything in our
- 6:14lives. Friends, if we will come back to
- 6:17the Word of God and we will measure what is being said by
- 6:21what the Word of God has said, and we stand on the Word of God,
- 6:26friends, then we can know that God will lead us in paths of
- 6:30righteousness even when they don't make sense.
- 6:33Even when the disease is still in your body, the foreclosure is
- 6:37still on your door, even when the job loss is imminent, even
- 6:44when we are called into the courtroom, even when all of life
- 6:50doesn't turn out the way that you had hoped.
- 6:53You can trust God in the middle that He is working it all out,
- 6:58friends, for the good of those who love Him and who are called
- 7:02according to His purpose. And here Jacob has to understand
- 7:08that even though Canaan is the land that they will inherit, God
- 7:12is definitely calling them down into Egypt.
- 7:16And we know from a bird's eye view, helicopter view, we can
- 7:20look down and we can see that God was going to put them in an
- 7:24incubator and he was going to multiply them and cause them to
- 7:28become a very strong nation within Egypt.
- 7:32And they were going to come out of Egypt a very wealthy nation.
- 7:37And look at how God still today is blessing the Jews
- 7:41financially. And God is blessing the Jews in
- 7:44the strength of the military. God is blessing them, friends.
- 7:49And there are miracles after miracles after miracles that are
- 7:52breaking out even today. If we choose to see them or if
- 7:58we buy into the rhetoric of commonplace news, you will find
- 8:04yourself at odds with these mighty people of God that He has
- 8:09chosen. And that is no place that we
- 8:11want to position ourselves in. Friends.
- 8:14We get out of our own way, and we say yes to God and all of his
- 8:18ways, and we don't try to call God into the courtroom and ask
- 8:22God what is He doing and what has He done, and ask Him to give
- 8:26us a answer for all the things that he has decided to do.
- 8:33It is beyond our intellect, beyond our comprehension.
- 8:37We just say yes and Amen to Yahweh.
- 8:40Everlasting Adonai verse 2. And he took some of his
- 8:46brothers, even 5 men, and presented them unto Pharaoh. 3
- 8:51And Pharaoh said unto his brothers, What is your
- 8:53occupation? And they said unto Pharaoh, Your
- 8:56servants are shepherds, both we and our fathers.
- 9:00So here they are securing their place in Goshen.
- 9:04Goshen was where the shepherds would go, and we already know
- 9:08that the shepherds were an abomination unto the Egyptians.
- 9:12So look at how God is already leading them in heavenly places
- 9:17where they are not intermingled in.
- 9:19They have their own separate place, and God's going to
- 9:23multiply them at a rate that is unheard of.
- 9:28For they said moreover unto Pharaoh, for to sojourn in the
- 9:34land are we come, for your servants have no pasture for
- 9:38their flocks, For the famine is sore in the land of Canaan.
- 9:43Now, therefore, we pray you let your servants dwell in the land
- 9:47of Goshen. So here they're asking Pharaoh
- 9:50for the privileged position in their minds to be able to put
- 9:55their animals out on pasture. And this was an easy yes for
- 10:00Pharaoh, because they did not intermingle with the shepherds.
- 10:07Five in Pharaoh spoke unto Joseph, saying, Your father and
- 10:10your brother have come unto you. 6 The land of Egypt is before
- 10:14you in the best of the land. Make your father and brothers to
- 10:18dwell in the land of Goshen. Let them dwell.
- 10:21And if you know any men of activity among them, then make
- 10:24them rulers over my cattle. So here's a little caveat.
- 10:27Pharaoh says, yes, let them take Goshen, but also have them to
- 10:32look after my cattle. 7 And Joseph brought in Jacob his
- 10:38father, and set him before Pharaoh, and Jacob blessed
- 10:42Pharaoh. What an amazing thought is that
- 10:47Jacob, one of the patriarchs, and then he invokes a prayer
- 10:54unto Pharaoh. And Pharaoh would have thought
- 10:57that he was descended from the false lowercase G God of the sun
- 11:05RA. And he was presented as a
- 11:09descendant of this false idol. And you can see here that there
- 11:14is only one true living God. And that is why Pharaoh does not
- 11:19reject this kind of blessing upon him, because there is no
- 11:24power within their entire construct of religion.
- 11:29It is all a bunch of garbage. But here Jacob is actually
- 11:33attached to the one true living God, friends, and that is why he
- 11:39can pray and bless Pharaoh. 8 And Pharaoh said to Jacob, How
- 11:46old are you? 9 And Jacob said to Pharaoh, The
- 11:51days of the years of my pilgrimage are 130 years.
- 11:57Few and evil have the days of the years of my life been and
- 12:03have not attained unto the days, the years of the life of my
- 12:07father's and the days of their pilgrimage.
- 12:10So we can see here that Abraham was a mighty man of God.
- 12:14He was a friend of God. He was the father of faith.
- 12:18And we know that Isaac was the well digger.
- 12:21We know that Isaac had a wonderful relationship with God
- 12:25Almighty. But look at how this deceiver,
- 12:27this heel catcher, he has had to pay for so much of his deception
- 12:32in his life. And he's realizing now that he
- 12:36doesn't just serve the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, but
- 12:41the Yahweh everlasting has been his God too, and that he can
- 12:46rest in peace, that he can know that God is.
- 12:50And he's not just the God of his father, but he's also his God.
- 12:54And he's made him personal at this point.
- 12:58And he is grieving all the time. Lost friends. 20 And Jacob
- 13:04blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh. 11 And
- 13:07Joseph placed his father and his brothers, and gave them a
- 13:11possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the
- 13:15land of Ramses, as Pharaoh had commanded. 12 And Joseph
- 13:20nourished his father and his brothers, and all his father's
- 13:24household with bread, according to their families.
- 13:27So here you can see that Joseph was a mighty man of character,
- 13:32and he took care of his family, and here you see that he's
- 13:35become the leader in that family. 13 And there was no
- 13:40bread in all the land, for the famine was very sore.
- 13:43So the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason
- 13:48of the famine. So you can see here that the
- 13:50crops have failed in all the land surrounding and even in
- 13:55Egypt. And thank God for the storehouse
- 13:58of the seven years of abundance, and where Joseph had put away
- 14:02all of the corn. 14 And Joseph gathered up all the money that
- 14:08was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan for
- 14:12the corn which they bought, for Joseph brought the money into
- 14:16Pharaoh's house. You can see how scrupulous this
- 14:19man was. The integrity that Joseph has is
- 14:23wonderful. It's beautiful.
- 14:25It's rare, friends. You do not see any account in
- 14:29here of Joseph holding back any of the finances.
- 14:33You see that he is a steward and trustworthy and he brings it all
- 14:38in. And that is how we are to behave
- 14:41in this world. When they go into the database,
- 14:44when they go into the files, if you have integrity, you have
- 14:48nothing to worry about. Friends, we need a man who truly
- 14:52believes in God, who truly will do whatever he needs to do in
- 14:58order to please God, in order to do the things the Bible has
- 15:03ascribed. We need one man completely sold
- 15:06out to him, and this world would be a different place. 15 And
- 15:12when money failed in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan,
- 15:17all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, give us bread, for why
- 15:22should we die in your presence, for the money failed.
- 15:26So here you can see all self-reliance has gone out the
- 15:29window. They have nothing.
- 15:32Even the money that they had going into this famine has all
- 15:36been spent. 16 And Joseph said give your cattle and I will give
- 15:44you for your cattle if money fail.
- 15:46So here he's saying, OK, you don't have any money, let's
- 15:49exchange livestock. 17 And they brought their cattle to Joseph,
- 15:55and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for horses, for the
- 15:59flocks, for the cattle of the herds, and for the donkeys.
- 16:03And he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.
- 16:06So here they don't have the money, but they do have all of
- 16:10their animals and they're trading it for food. 18 And when
- 16:15that year was ended, they came to him the second year, and they
- 16:19said to him, we will not hide it from my Lord.
- 16:23Our money is spent. You also have the herds of
- 16:27cattle. There is not all left in the
- 16:31sight of my Lord, but our bodies and our lands.
- 16:34So they're saying we've spent all the money we have.
- 16:37We've given you all the cattle we have.
- 16:40The only thing we have left is our very bodies and our land. 19
- 16:49Why should we die before your eyes?
- 16:52Both we in our land by us and our land for bread.
- 16:58We in our land will be servants to Pharaoh.
- 17:02Give us seed that we may live and not die, that the land be
- 17:07not desolate. How amazing is Argon to give
- 17:12unto Pharaoh the dreams, and then to give unto Joseph the
- 17:16interpretation of the 7 cows that ate up the other 7 cows and
- 17:22the seven ears that ate up the other seven ears of corn, and
- 17:27how it was easily interpreted that there would be 7 years of
- 17:32abundance followed by 7 years of famine.
- 17:35And look at how Joseph is in this wonderful, superior
- 17:40position and he's using it as leverage, Friends. 20 And Joseph
- 17:49bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh, for the Egyptians sold
- 17:54every man is filled because the famine prevailed over them, so
- 17:59that the land became Pharaohs. So not only did all the money go
- 18:03to Pharaoh and then all the cattle go to Pharaoh, but now
- 18:07all of the land that was privately owned has become part
- 18:12of Pharaoh's estate. 21 And As for the people, he removed them
- 18:19to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt, even to the
- 18:23other end of it. So all the people were pushed
- 18:27into the city because there was this social welfare there in
- 18:32that city and they were pushed out of the countryside because
- 18:36they could not sustain themselves because the famine
- 18:39was so great. This is one of the tactics of
- 18:43the enemy friends is to get us to become city dwellers and to
- 18:47get us to not be self reliant. Friends.
- 18:50Don't buy into it. Make sure that you are taking
- 18:55care of your family and do it when the chips are high.
- 18:59Do it whenever everything is up. Do not wait for these
- 19:03cataclysmic events that upend all of our security and then we
- 19:07go into panic mode. Friends, make sure that you have
- 19:11the wherewithal and the mental fortitude to be able to see it
- 19:15before it ever happens. And it's by being connected to
- 19:18God Almighty, like Joseph was, that will help us and to get us
- 19:23home. Friends, all the way to the end,
- 19:26we do not live in fear. Do not let anxiety and fear rule
- 19:30the day in your life. 22 Only the land of the priest did he
- 19:36not buy? For the priests had a portion
- 19:38assigned to them of Pharaoh, and he did eat their portion with
- 19:44which Pharaoh gave them, wherefore they did not sell
- 19:48their lands. So here the priests, they were
- 19:50taken care of. They were given a portion of the
- 19:55food and they did not have to give up their lands.
- 19:58You can see that it is a wonderful thing to be attached
- 20:03to God Almighty and to know that He's going to take care of us.
- 20:07Friends, do the work of an evangelist.
- 20:10Actually go out into the harvest.
- 20:13Do not make this life about everything that is actually not
- 20:16friends about wealth and about prosperity.
- 20:19Do not make this life about comfort or else you will find
- 20:23yourself in a. Very deplorable state when it
- 20:26fails. 23 Then Joseph said unto the people, Behold, I have
- 20:31bought you this day, and your land for Pharaoh, lo, here is
- 20:36seed for you, and you shall sow the land.
- 20:38So here Joseph is making sure everybody stays alive.
- 20:42But in the meantime and in between time, all of Pharaoh's
- 20:47possessions are becoming greater and greater and greater.
- 20:51And it is in these very chaotic times when tragedy hits, that
- 21:01the commoner is the one who suffers the most, while the
- 21:04central government becomes stronger.
- 21:07Never forget that. 24 And it shall come to pass in the
- 21:11increase that you shall give the 5th part unto Pharaoh, and four
- 21:15part shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food,
- 21:19and for them of your households, and for food for your little
- 21:23ones. So here he is imposing a 20% tax
- 21:27upon them, and he's saying that he will come and he will take
- 21:31the 20% as they are working the fields. 25 And they said, you
- 21:38have saved our lives. Let us find grace in your sight,
- 21:42my Lord, and we will be Pharaoh's servants. 26 And
- 21:46Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day,
- 21:50that Pharaoh should have the 5th part, except the land of the
- 21:54priests only, which became not Pharaohs.
- 21:56So they were able to stay on their land, but they were able
- 22:00to give 20% of all the increase over to Pharaoh. 27 And Israel
- 22:07dwelt in the land of Egypt in the country of Goshen, and they
- 22:10had possessions therein, and grew and multiplied exceedingly,
- 22:15which is the whole point of the whole matter, of the whole
- 22:17facts, friends, is that God LED them there to increase. 28 And
- 22:23Jacob lived in the land of Egypt 17 years.
- 22:27So the whole age of Jacob was 147 years, 29.
- 22:33And the time drew near that Israel must die.
- 22:37And he called to his son Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have
- 22:41found grace in your sight, put, I pray you your hand under my
- 22:46thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me.
- 22:49Do not bury me, I pray in Egypt. So here he's making him swear by
- 22:59a covenant that he will not allow him to be buried in Egypt.
- 23:04Egypt was not his home. He was a sojourner there, a
- 23:07Pilgrim in the land, friends. And he knew that all the land of
- 23:12Canaan was to belong to Israel. And that is still the promise of
- 23:17today. Do not get it twisted.
- 23:19It belongs to them. And when Jesus Christ comes to
- 23:23take his rightful place on the throne during the Millennium
- 23:26Temple, he will rule and reign from Jerusalem. 30 But I will
- 23:33lie with my father's, and you shall carry me out of Egypt and
- 23:37bury me in their burying place. And he said, I will do as you've
- 23:42said. So Joseph gives him his answer
- 23:48that he's looking for. He consented to the request of
- 23:52his father Israel, and he says, yes, I will take you and bury
- 23:56you in your rightful place of Canaan that has been given to
- 24:01Father Abraham, Isaac, and to Jacob.
- 24:04Here we'll end on 31. And he said, swear unto me.
- 24:12And he swore unto him, and Israel bowed himself upon the
- 24:17bed's head. So here he's near death.
- 24:20He's right at death's door, friends.
- 24:22And we're going to see how it goes in the next chapter.
- 24:25I hope you've been blessed by this amazing chapter in God's
- 24:28Word. I know I sure have.
- 24:30I'm praying for every single one of you.
- 24:33I love you. We'll see you back here
- 24:36tomorrow. God bless you.
