- 0:00Speaker 1: For all you mad bastards loving the Big Show podcast,
- 0:05Speaker 1: get up even closer on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. Or
- 0:10Speaker 1: Raw Dog It.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Four to seven every weekday on Radio Hodak here. Yeah, thanks, mate.
- 0:16Speaker 2: So anyway, Keezy, I was watching old Mogey. Yeah. Stuffing
- 0:23Speaker 2: his face last night with his wedges. As he does. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 0:26Speaker 2: And I was fucking starving. Did he offer me a wedge, Keezy? No,
- 0:31Speaker 2: he did not, Keezy.
- 0:32Speaker 1: He never offers anyone a wedge.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Have you noticed that about him?
- 0:35Speaker 1: I've also noticed you never offer anyone any food either,
- 0:37Speaker 1: and I don't offer anyone any food.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Oh, look, I mean, I have in the past, but
- 0:42Speaker 2: you guys have said nah because you think I've got
- 0:43Speaker 2: some sort of oral herpes or something. But get this, man.
- 0:47Speaker 2: So you know how I get my little chicken nibbles?
- 0:50Speaker 1: Oh, from the old two-four there?
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yeah, the two-four. You can only get... You can get
- 0:55Speaker 2: two for $ 4 or four for $ 8.
- 0:58Speaker 1: But one of them has to be a chicken drumstick
- 1:00Speaker 1: and one has.
- 1:01Speaker 2: To be a wing. It has to be a wing, yeah.
- 1:03Speaker 2: So I'm thinking to myself, I'm starving. And it doesn't matter.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Whenever I go into that shop, there's always some sort
- 1:09Speaker 2: of drama. But this time there was no drama. And
- 1:12Speaker 2: I said, I just want one pair of chicken nibbles.
- 1:16Speaker 2: So they gave me the chicken nibbles and there was
- 1:17Speaker 2: no drama, Keezy. Right. And so I get there and
- 1:19Speaker 2: I'm waiting at the lights and I go to hole
- 1:21Speaker 2: into them because I was starving. They were fucking cold, Keezy.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Who serves cold chicken nibbles?
- 1:28Speaker 1: Did you eat them still?
- 1:29Speaker 2: Yes, because I was starving. Right. And then I was
- 1:31Speaker 2: getting massive stomach cramps all the way home. They were
- 1:35Speaker 2: freezing cold, Keezy.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Well, surely when you ordered them and they put them
- 1:40Speaker 1: on the counter, you would have felt them or got
- 1:41Speaker 1: a sense that they were cold.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Well, no, I mean, I don't. I don't feel up
- 1:45Speaker 2: my food while it's sitting on the counter.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Oh, right.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I mean, I don't touch my chicken while it's sitting there.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I wait till I start eating it.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Well, I think, I know you're very angry about this,
- 1:56Speaker 1: and it sounds like it's the shop assistant's fault, right?
- 1:58Speaker 1: I actually think it's your fault for eating nothing but
- 2:01Speaker 1: wasabi peas all day. It's all you ate.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Well, for a start, they weren't wasabi peas. They were
- 2:06Speaker 2: wasabi bean pods.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Way cooler.
- 2:10Speaker 2: What even is that?
- 2:12Speaker 1: Like actual beans?
- 2:13Speaker 2: Yeah, well, they're like dehydrated pea pods.
- 2:16Speaker 1: And that's all you ate?
- 2:17Speaker 2: Yesterday, yeah.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Why?
- 2:20Speaker 2: Well, because.
- 2:21Speaker 1: And then you come in all grumpy and they're getting
- 2:23Speaker 1: angry at Mogi.
- 2:24Speaker 2: And then it was like, well, you know what it's like.
- 2:27Speaker 2: You look at your fridge and there's food at home,
- 2:30Speaker 2: but there's just nothing I want to eat. You know
- 2:33Speaker 2: what I mean? Did you know that the average male
- 2:35Speaker 2: looks in his fridge 17 times a day? True story, that.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Look, I don't know whether or not that is the
- 2:42Speaker 1: exact fact, but I've heard that before and I agree
- 2:44Speaker 1: with it.
- 2:45Speaker 2: 17 times a day. Yeah. They look in their fridge.
- 2:48Speaker 2: And even though you know what's in the fridge.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Nothing.
- 2:50Speaker 2: There's nothing, basically.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Well, ingredients to make something.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:53Speaker 1: But I can't be bothered with that.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you see, when you need to start throwing
- 2:56Speaker 2: ingredients together, that really fucking does my head in.
- 2:59Speaker 1: That's like, you know, on Sunday. What's today? Tuesday. So
- 3:03Speaker 1: you know how yesterday I was a wee bit hungover?
- 3:05Speaker 2: You were? You were massively hungover, Keezy. I wasn't.
- 3:09Speaker 1: I was totally fine. I sounded great on air.
- 3:11Speaker 2: You were green. I was sharp. Snot was coming out
- 3:14Speaker 2: of your nose. Was it? And your moustache there, you
- 3:17Speaker 2: were wheezy.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Nah, I was sharp.
- 3:19Speaker 2: I mean, I got woozy just looking at you.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Well, anyway, on the Sunday night, because we started Sunday lunchtime,
- 3:26Speaker 1: and then by about 9 o'clock I was going home,
- 3:29Speaker 1: and my lovely fiancée was driving me home. We had
- 3:32Speaker 1: to stop at the supermarket on the way, and she said,
- 3:35Speaker 1: I'll pick up the groceries we've ordered at the counter.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Can you go in and get a spring onion? I
- 3:39Speaker 1: forgot to get a spring onion. So I went in
- 3:41Speaker 1: and got a spring onion and then came out with
- 3:43Speaker 1: a spring onion and five packets of rations, like large packets.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Yeah, there's something. In fairness, actually, there's something about rations. Amazing. Well,
- 3:55Speaker 2: and they're quite absorby too.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I haven't had one in so long. When you get
- 3:58Speaker 1: a nice soft one. And I had one while I
- 4:01Speaker 1: was at the RSA on Sunday. You know how the
- 4:04Speaker 1: old school bars have little packets of chips behind the counter?
- 4:06Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:07Speaker 1: For $ 2. Got one of them and just mowed through
- 4:09Speaker 1: it and now I love rations.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm just actually envisaging you once you got home.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Just a massively steamed Keezy. Yeah. Snot coming out of
- 4:20Speaker 2: your nose. Why am I always snotty? I don't know.
- 4:23Speaker 2: You tell me. And, you know, just dribbling at the
- 4:27Speaker 2: mouth and talking utter shit. Yeah. With like ration crumbs
- 4:33Speaker 2: all around your mouth.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Ration crumbs?
- 4:34Speaker 2: And all through your mo. I mean, your fiancée must
- 4:39Speaker 2: have just been going hot.
- 4:41Speaker 1: What she does is go, you're annoying when you're drunk.
- 4:45Speaker 1: And then- like establishes that early on that I'm annoying
- 4:48Speaker 1: when I'm drunk. And then I know I'm drunk and
- 4:50Speaker 1: I know that I'm annoying her. So I try really
- 4:52Speaker 1: hard not to annoy her. And apparently that's even more annoying.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Cause I'm trying to be like, talk straight and like
- 4:58Speaker 1: have a normal conversation about something like our wedding coming up.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. She's not buying it.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Nah.
- 5:03Speaker 2: She's going, whatever keys.
- 5:04Speaker 1: You can tell that I have no, like no interest
- 5:06Speaker 1: in what I'm talking about.
- 5:07Speaker 2: There's nothing worse actually than, um, you know, men trying
- 5:12Speaker 2: to act sober when they're off their heads.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:14Speaker 2: You know what I mean? In the past for me,
- 5:17Speaker 2: I used to try that with my wife. Right. You know,
- 5:19Speaker 2: and try and act all sober when I was off
- 5:21Speaker 2: my head.
- 5:22Speaker 1: How are you going?
- 5:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Hey, babe.
- 5:25Speaker 2: G'day, darling. You're looking lovely. I tell you what, she's
- 5:29Speaker 2: been a busy old day, I tell you. Do you
- 5:32Speaker 2: want a tea or something like that? I've got dinner
- 5:34Speaker 2: on and stuff.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Jase, it's breakfast time.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Oh, shit, is it? You better get another beerzy. Just
- 5:40Speaker 2: get another beerzy then, then, love.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Actually, what was it like? I mean, I know you
- 5:46Speaker 1: don't drink that much anymore, but back when you were
- 5:48Speaker 1: in your, I don't know, your cheating days or, you know,
- 5:52Speaker 1: your boozing days.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Or my rooting days.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Or your rooting days.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Which all sort of coalesced, actually.
- 5:57Speaker 1: They were all at the same time.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:00Speaker 1: What I've noticed in my friend group, and I think
- 6:01Speaker 1: it's purely coincidental, is that there's a group of us
- 6:03Speaker 1: boys and we always drink a lot of beers, but
- 6:06Speaker 1: none of our girlfriends ever drink.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Well, they might have like one or two. Is that normal?
- 6:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it is actually. But I've often told
- 6:13Speaker 2: the story with my wife. I thought she was a
- 6:15Speaker 2: massive piss head. And it turned out, you know, that
- 6:20Speaker 2: wasn't the case.
- 6:21Speaker 1: How did you get that confused?
- 6:23Speaker 2: Well, you know, we'd share a couple of bottlies of
- 6:25Speaker 2: wine when we first started going out.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:28Speaker 2: And then I realized she was only having like half
- 6:30Speaker 2: a glass.
- 6:31Speaker 1: And you were smashing the whole bottle.
- 6:33Speaker 2: And I was smashing the other bottle. One and three
- 6:35Speaker 2: quarter bottles.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Right.
- 6:36Speaker 2: And I'm like, she's a pisser. Yeah, boy. Yeah, boy.
- 6:41Speaker 2: But actually, no. Right, yeah. It was just me. The
- 6:45Speaker 2: Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from four on Radio Hauraki. Now
- 6:50Speaker 2: that's good listening. And it's live. What are you listening
- 6:55Speaker 2: to there? Oh, me? Oh, sorry. I was listening to
- 6:58Speaker 2: the Radio Hauraki Big Show. Right. Four to seven weekdays. Yeah,
- 7:05Speaker 2: that's quite specific.
- 7:07Speaker 1: And iHeartRadio.
- 7:09Speaker 2: What, oh? Cheers. Cheers. The Hauraki Big Show.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 7:16Speaker 2: The one thing I'll give you kudos for here, Keezy,
- 7:18Speaker 2: is that, you know, you just, you man up with
- 7:21Speaker 2: your hangovers.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Oh, thanks, mate.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Generally speaking.
- 7:24Speaker 1: You don't see me in the morning. We start work
- 7:25Speaker 1: in the afternoon.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's true.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I was an absolute, in fact, yesterday morning I went
- 7:30Speaker 1: and there was a young fella waiting outside as well.
- 7:32Speaker 1: I ordered a pizza because there's a local pizza place
- 7:36Speaker 1: near me, which whenever I'm hungover, I go there. And
- 7:39Speaker 1: I arrive outside, and I've ordered online and paid for it,
- 7:41Speaker 1: and the pizza places are closed.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:43Speaker 1: And so they've taken my money, they've taken my order,
- 7:45Speaker 1: and they're closed. And there's a dude outside, and I'm
- 7:48Speaker 1: really hungover. And this guy just goes, hey, Keezy, you steamed.
- 7:54Speaker 2: And I was.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Actually like, well, I'm not steamed. I'm very hungover. But
- 7:58Speaker 1: this isn't a normal thing. You might think it's normal.
- 8:00Speaker 1: And every time I am actually hungover or steamed, I
- 8:04Speaker 1: seem to run into people giving me shit about being steamed.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, I mean, you've got to sort of weigh
- 8:08Speaker 2: that up against the fact that you are generally steamed.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Right, yeah.
- 8:12Speaker 2: You know what I mean? And what I've noticed from
- 8:14Speaker 2: you incrementally is that the periods of non-steamedness are getting
- 8:22Speaker 2: incrementally smaller and smaller until what you'll find, and I
- 8:26Speaker 2: think you're pretty much there now.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I am, yeah.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Is that you're pretty much steamed the entire time. What
- 8:33Speaker 2: they call it in the biz... his ears.
- 8:36Speaker 1: What, like media?
- 8:36Speaker 2: In the media biz? Well, just in the piss head biz. Oh, yeah?
- 8:40Speaker 2: It's just topping up, mate. Oh, okay. So what you're
- 8:42Speaker 2: doing is you're like permanently pissed.
- 8:45Speaker 1: So you never go below half a tank?
- 8:47Speaker 2: That's right. Okay, I like that. And so you're just
- 8:50Speaker 2: forever topping up.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:52Speaker 2: And so you'll have, like you were saying the other night,
- 8:54Speaker 2: you had 18 beers, for example, right? Right. So you
- 8:58Speaker 2: had the 18 beers and you said you went to
- 9:00Speaker 2: bed about three or four and then you said You
- 9:04Speaker 2: slept for about four or five hours and got up
- 9:06Speaker 2: and cracked open another one. Yeah. And you said, you know,
- 9:09Speaker 2: I felt okay. But what the one that you're cracking
- 9:12Speaker 2: open for breakfast is doing is triggering the other 18
- 9:16Speaker 2: beers from the night before. So you're steamed again.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Like waking them up sort of thing.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. It's like prodding it with a stick.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Because I call it an up and go.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:24Speaker 1: That morning one. Because I'll just crack that.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Have a banana. And by banana, I mean sausage roll.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Yes.
- 9:31Speaker 1: And then sort of back into it. Yeah. Yeah. So
- 9:34Speaker 1: you never did that?
- 9:36Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, no, I absolutely did that. Exactly.
- 9:38Speaker 1: And look now, you're a top radio DJ. I'm just
- 9:40Speaker 1: trying to do the same thing.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Well, yeah, but I had an amazing constitution for it, Keezy, whereas,
- 9:47Speaker 2: you know, you're going to seed a little bit earlier
- 9:49Speaker 2: than I did. I mean, if you look at me now,
- 9:51Speaker 2: for example.
- 9:52Speaker 1: At 41.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, look what great neck I'm in.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I would say in many respects, our bodies are very similar,
- 10:01Speaker 2: though there's a 10-year difference.
- 10:03Speaker 1: See, I wouldn't.
- 10:04Speaker 2: You know what I mean? I mean, the only difference is, Keezy,
- 10:07Speaker 2: that you're obviously taller than me. I'll grant you that.
- 10:10Speaker 1: More solid as well.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Oh, solid. By solid, you mean fat. No, you mean fat.
- 10:15Speaker 2: You see, I don't have much fat on me. Right.
- 10:19Speaker 2: In fact, I've got no fat on me. Maybe a
- 10:21Speaker 2: bit of man boob. Well, that's pure fat. Well, but
- 10:26Speaker 2: you can only see my man boob side on. Like
- 10:29Speaker 2: if you look at me front on, I look stacked. Well, no,
- 10:35Speaker 2: hang on. Let me rephrase that. I look like packed.
- 10:43Speaker 1: That's so much better. I've just clicked on something.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:47Speaker 1: You know how it's Tuesday today and you don't want
- 10:49Speaker 1: to do Turtleneck Tuesday?
- 10:51Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:51Speaker 1: And you're thinking of phasing it out.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:53Speaker 1: And I'm like, we should just do it in winter
- 10:55Speaker 1: because it's funny. I think it's because you don't like
- 10:58Speaker 1: your moves in the old Turtleneck.
- 11:00Speaker 2: I did get a fair amount of comment on my
- 11:02Speaker 2: moobs for that photo that you were steamed in just
- 11:05Speaker 2: of the Podaki show. But actually, that was misleading because
- 11:11Speaker 2: they looked like moobs. But what I'm saying is actually
- 11:15Speaker 2: it's muscle.
- 11:15Speaker 1: It's a pictorial.
- 11:16Speaker 2: It's a pictorial muscle. Like if you look at Arnie
- 11:19Speaker 2: Schwarzenegger in a T-shirt, right?
- 11:22Speaker 1: Now. Now that he's like 70-something. Yeah, yeah.
- 11:25Speaker 2: No, like in his prime.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Oh, like in the Terminator days.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Yeah, Terminator days. And he's wearing a tight T-shirt. He
- 11:32Speaker 2: looks like he's got moobs.
- 11:34Speaker 1: No, he looks like he's got pecs.
- 11:35Speaker 2: No, he looks like he's got moobs.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Wow. Righto.
- 11:41Speaker 2: But to be fair, the only area I carry fat
- 11:45Speaker 2: are in my moobs.
- 11:47Speaker 1: And in that peach.
- 11:50Speaker 2: In the peach, yeah. My buttocks.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. That dump truck you've got around there.
- 11:56Speaker 2: No, I'm losing fat there.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Really?
- 11:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it's sucking itself off. Well, what I mean by
- 12:01Speaker 2: that is like my ass, this is what, as you
- 12:03Speaker 2: get older.
- 12:04Speaker 1: It's imploding.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Well, no, it's being absorbed by my body. Right. So
- 12:07Speaker 2: my ass is being absorbed.
- 12:09Speaker 1: By my body. Actually, I heard an interesting thing where,
- 12:11Speaker 1: you know how when you're really, you start to, you know,
- 12:15Speaker 1: your proper elderly, when you turn 80, 70, whatever, your body,
- 12:19Speaker 1: you start to lose weight.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Yes.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Apparently it's quite good if you're relatively obese when you
- 12:24Speaker 1: hit like 70 because then you'll sort of start to
- 12:27Speaker 1: lose weight and then even out to be a regular
- 12:29Speaker 1: looking person. Whereas if you're in good nick, you'll turn
- 12:32Speaker 1: very skinny. You know what I mean? Yeah.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Well, you see in your case, like by the time
- 12:37Speaker 2: you're 70 or 80, because you're going to be massive.
- 12:39Speaker 2: I reckon you're going to be massive by the time
- 12:41Speaker 2: you're 40. That will probably happen to you in your
- 12:45Speaker 2: 70s and 80s, but you'll have massive skin flaps. Right.
- 12:50Speaker 1: So I'll be in good shape.
- 12:51Speaker 2: You know, like those people that are morbidly, morbidly, morbidly
- 12:54Speaker 2: obese and then they lose or they have a tummy
- 12:57Speaker 2: tuck or something like that.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Yeah, glad I'm not one of them.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Because your skin is going to be so stretched out. Yeah.
- 13:02Speaker 2: It's just going to be like, you're going to be,
- 13:05Speaker 2: it's like wearing an ill-fitting suit.
- 13:07Speaker 1: So just how heavy do you think I'm going to be?
- 13:11Speaker 2: Well, how heavy are you now?
- 13:12Speaker 1: What do you reckon?
- 13:14Speaker 2: Oh, 110, 115 pounds. 86. 86. Well, what I can
- 13:21Speaker 2: say with absolute certainty is at least double that. Moobs.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Yeah, fair enough.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Hey, we didn't do any jokes.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that's true. Someone keeps sending me the same joke.
- 13:42Speaker 2: I got sent a shocking one last night. It was...
- 13:48Speaker 2: A shocker.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Filthy?
- 13:51Speaker 2: Filthy, racist, just horrendous.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Well, I keep getting sent the same one about what's
- 14:00Speaker 1: better than eating a mandarin. You know that one?
- 14:04Speaker 2: I think so, but go on.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Well, I don't want to say it.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Oh, yes, I do.
- 14:08Speaker 1: The classic, you know?
- 14:09Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:10Speaker 1: I've been sent that about 100 times. So just a
- 14:12Speaker 1: warning to everyone. Yeah, we've read that one about 50
- 14:15Speaker 1: times on this potty there.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Yep.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Don't forget, send all those Keezy words in over the
- 14:19Speaker 1: weekend once you've got all five, and on Monday we'll
- 14:21Speaker 1: be calling someone with a vinyl, some BK vouchers, and
