- 1:29All right, guys.
- 1:30All right.
- 1:31So we're going to kick this show off.
- 1:32Again, it is a brand new master topic.
- 1:35So again, we're kicking this off here for
- 1:37Inspirations for Your Life.
- 1:38And it's about fear to forward, choosing light,
- 1:44clarity, and momentum.
- 1:46This is, yes, season five, we're on the
- 1:48air over four years and seven days.
- 1:52So we're in our fifth year.
- 1:53It's basically show seven, episode number one.
- 2:00And today's granular topic is awareness over autopilot.
- 2:07We've talked about this a little bit in
- 2:09the past.
- 2:09By the way, I'm John C.
- 2:10Morley, serial entrepreneur, I'm an engineer, marketing specialist,
- 2:13video producer, podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate
- 2:17student, and a passionate lifelong learner.
- 2:20And I want to welcome you to Inspirations
- 2:22for Your Life.
- 2:23This week, we begin a powerful journey called
- 2:26fear from fear to forward, choosing light, clarity,
- 2:30and momentum.
- 2:31This isn't about hype, guys, or pretending life
- 2:34is perfect.
- 2:35It's about moving forward, even when things feel
- 2:37uncertain, or it doesn't seem perfect, right?
- 2:40Unclear or unfinished, there's never a perfect time.
- 2:44Today's focus is awareness over autopilot.
- 2:47You guys might have heard that before.
- 2:48So number one is most people don't fail
- 2:51because they aren't capable.
- 2:53They drift because they're unaware.
- 2:56And I think that's a very important thing
- 2:59to understand that.
- 3:01And they move through their days reacting instead
- 3:05of choosing busy instead of intentional.
- 3:09Number two, guys, autopilot feels safe for them.
- 3:11So they just want to stay in that
- 3:13mode, right?
- 3:14But it quietly costs clarity, energy, and also
- 3:19their direction.
- 3:21Awareness is the first real power move, guys.
- 3:24Number three, when you begin noticing how often
- 3:29you move through the day without choosing control
- 3:32returns.
- 3:34Yes, it returns.
- 3:35Number four, unconscious habits quietly shape the future.
- 3:42Yeah, they shape the future.
- 3:45I think that's something that a lot of
- 3:47people get thrown on.
- 3:48They don't really understand that premise or why
- 3:52that works a certain way.
- 3:53But it does.
- 3:55It works a very unique way.
- 3:57I think that's an easy thing for us
- 3:59to do is to just start becoming aware
- 4:02of the things around us, right?
- 4:05The things around us.
- 4:07And when we do that, it's like, I
- 4:10don't want to say life gets easier, but
- 4:12life starts to make sense, right?
- 4:16It starts to make sense.
- 4:18And that's important, guys.
- 4:21It's very important that life makes sense because
- 4:23if life doesn't make sense and you're doing
- 4:26things and they don't align with your core
- 4:28values, well, you're going to burn out and
- 4:30you're also going to be wasting a lot
- 4:33of important energy.
- 4:34Number five, guys, pausing before reacting changes outcomes.
- 4:40I've said this before, pausing.
- 4:42We want to be proactive, not retroactive.
- 4:47We used an example of the fire.
- 4:49We've used an example of different things that
- 4:51could be a relationship issue.
- 4:52If you prepare for a storm, if you
- 4:54prepare for the danger and prepare for the
- 4:57power outage or prepare for that storm, right?
- 5:00Then when the storm comes, it's like, oh,
- 5:02I'm ready.
- 5:03I've got food.
- 5:04You don't need to get 72 gallons of
- 5:06milk and 32 loaves of bread like some
- 5:08people do, which is absolutely insane.
- 5:12You're ready.
- 5:13And so being ready takes away an edge
- 5:16off people, all right?
- 5:17Takes an edge off of people.
- 5:20Number five, awareness creates emotional breathing room.
- 5:26Awareness creates emotional breathing room.
- 5:28This is why the SATS technique and Neville
- 5:31Goddard has been so amazingly effective because our
- 5:36awareness, okay, can get us to change.
- 5:39But our subconscious can get our awareness to
- 5:42change.
- 5:44And some of you guys know this, but
- 5:45our awareness, you know, faculty happens whether we're
- 5:51conscious or unconscious.
- 5:52So we have unconscious awareness versus conscious awareness.
- 5:56So conscious awareness is the things that we
- 5:58do every day and we see.
- 5:59But when things are getting crazy, it's like
- 6:02we suddenly miss stuff, right?
- 6:07Like maybe you're writing something and you miss
- 6:09something on it.
- 6:10You know why you miss it?
- 6:11You miss it because you're going too fast
- 6:14and you're looking at the entire piece, but
- 6:18you're not looking at the forest.
- 6:20You're not looking at that big piece, okay?
- 6:22So that's a very important thing to take
- 6:25into account.
- 6:26Number six, guys, patterns only control when you
- 6:29don't see them.
- 6:32So that's an interesting quinky dink.
- 6:35So when we are not aware of a
- 6:38pattern, like in, let's say, advertising, right?
- 6:43And it gets us to do something.
- 6:45But once we're made aware of what it's
- 6:47doing, right, then it's like, wait a minute.
- 6:51I don't want to do that.
- 6:52I don't want to be programmed to do
- 6:54that.
- 6:54And that's perfectly fine, right?
- 6:56Perfectly, perfectly fine.
- 6:58Number seven, clarity often begins with discomfort.
- 7:02I've said that, guys, before.
- 7:05Observation without judgment reduces unnecessary stress.
- 7:08So if we can understand that and we
- 7:11can realize that discomfort is where the egg
- 7:16cracks to get us to be successful.
- 7:18I'm not going to say it's a picnic,
- 7:21all right?
- 7:21But I am going to tell you that
- 7:23it is something pretty amazing.
- 7:25Pretty amazing because people don't realize one thing,
- 7:32the amazingness of our bodies.
- 7:36And how when we get into discomfort, the
- 7:40body goes into this fight or flight mode.
- 7:43And it's trying to protect us at all
- 7:45costs.
- 7:46But sometimes in its protection, it blocks us
- 7:50in the very thing that we're trying to
- 7:52do because of a safety system, all right?
- 7:56I think that's an important one.
- 7:59Number seven, guys, observation without judgment reduces unnecessary
- 8:04stress.
- 8:06Observation without judgment reduces unnecessary stress.
- 8:11Yeah.
- 8:13So if you don't judge, you're kinder, but
- 8:17you're also someone that is, let's say, you
- 8:21know, more in a line with people.
- 8:23Number eight, guys, stillness sharpens perception.
- 8:29When we're still, we become aware.
- 8:32We can hear things.
- 8:33We can see things.
- 8:35We're in the moment.
- 8:37We're present.
- 8:39Like when we do the breathing exercises, right?
- 8:41We're in that moment.
- 8:44We're in that moment.
- 8:48Number nine, guys, presence beats distraction.
- 8:54Your attention is your most valuable asset.
- 8:58Don't let it get distracted.
- 9:01And if something is preventing you from doing
- 9:03something, find a way to stay focused.
- 9:07I know sometimes when I'm doing work and,
- 9:09you know, it seems like, oh, I don't
- 9:10want to do this, I'll put on some
- 9:11music, some energy music, some productivity music, and
- 9:17it's amazing what happens, all right?
- 9:22Number nine, guys, awareness turns chaos into information.
- 9:30Awareness turns chaos.
- 9:33Because I said before that we can't have
- 9:35chaos when there's organization.
- 9:38We can't have chaos when there's peace, right?
- 9:43Peace and organization.
- 9:44They actually go, they go together.
- 9:54That's important, guys.
- 9:56Number 10, reflection beats reaction.
- 10:01Again, awareness restores personal agency.
- 10:07I think that's something that a lot of
- 10:09people just don't, they don't vibe with that.
- 10:12They don't understand that language or that sound
- 10:15or that dynamic, right?
- 10:20Observation becomes intention.
- 10:23Intention becomes the action.
- 10:26Number 10, action becomes sustainable
- 10:35momentum.
- 10:38Action becomes sustainable momentum.
- 10:44Action becomes sustainable momentum.
- 10:46And when we understand that action in our
- 10:49life can make a difference for us, well,
- 10:52then it's like we need to change one
- 10:56thing in our life.
- 10:56And if we change that one thing in
- 10:58our life, then it's like suddenly we get
- 11:03this epiphany moment.
- 11:04We get this aha.
- 11:07We get this, oh, now I see how
- 11:09it goes.
- 11:10Now I see how the peace goes.
- 11:11Or now I see why they said that.
- 11:13Or now I see why we're doing it
- 11:14this way, right?
- 11:17That's important.
- 11:20So thinking about you right now.
- 11:23Thinking about awareness.
- 11:25And I want to go to my good
- 11:27friends here at Merriam-Webster.
- 11:29And I want to look up the definition,
- 11:31guys, for awareness.
- 11:33So we'll go to Merriam-Webster right now.
- 11:36We haven't gone there in a while.
- 11:37And we'll look up awareness.
- 11:39So according to Merriam-Webster, the word awareness
- 11:43is a noun.
- 11:48The quality or state of being aware, and
- 11:51I quote, knowledge and understanding that something is
- 11:54happening or exists.
- 11:57Promoting a heightened awareness of the problem or
- 12:00the challenge.
- 12:03So when we raise awareness for something, maybe
- 12:06we're raising awareness for conditions outside, like in
- 12:14California, that it's very dry to prevent forest
- 12:17fires.
- 12:19Forest fires can happen, which we learn not
- 12:22just by a match dropping from somebody that
- 12:24was smoking that shouldn't be.
- 12:26Or they can drop from careless fires.
- 12:29But you know what else they can drop
- 12:30from?
- 12:31A fire can happen by a spark even
- 12:34from a motorcycle or even from the heat
- 12:37of the motorcycle.
- 12:38Because there's a little bit in there.
- 12:39And that little bit can cause, yes, a
- 12:45forest to catch on fire.
- 12:48So something else that means awareness, attention, knowledge,
- 12:54mindfulness, consciousness, observation, cognizance, understanding,
- 13:07consideration, regard, recognition, discernment, thought, watch, grasp,
- 13:15apprehension.
- 13:16I think the reason many people are not
- 13:22aware, have awareness, is because of the fact
- 13:27that they claim that they don't need to
- 13:29be.
- 13:29But if we look at the adjective, okay,
- 13:32the adjective for awareness is the word aware,
- 13:36A-W-A-R-E.
- 13:40It's an adjective.
- 13:41Having or showing realization, perception, or knowledge according
- 13:45to the folks at Merriam-Webster.
- 13:47Be aware of the danger your motorcycle could
- 13:50have on that forest.
- 13:53Be aware on eating all that chocolate could
- 13:58actually cause you to gain weight quicker without
- 14:01any kind of exercise.
- 14:07There are many states of awareness.
- 14:09I'm not going to get into that today.
- 14:10But I am going to talk about something
- 14:12that's interesting.
- 14:13You can be aware of almost anything.
- 14:17And try and experiment with me.
- 14:19Whether you're, well, if you're driving, obviously don't
- 14:22do this.
- 14:23But if you're able to do this and
- 14:25you're able to visualize with me, I'd like
- 14:28you to, just for a moment, I'd like
- 14:31you just to become aware of the temperature
- 14:36on your left wrist.
- 14:40Just be aware of that.
- 14:42Now be aware of the temperature on your
- 14:44right wrist.
- 14:44Now be aware of the temperature combined on
- 14:48the soles of your feet.
- 14:51Now become aware of the temperature of your
- 14:54skin on the back of your neck.
- 14:59Now be aware of the sensation of your
- 15:04sleeve as it's touching your skin on your
- 15:08arm.
- 15:09If you're wearing socks, be aware of the
- 15:13texture and temperature of the socks that you
- 15:16are wearing.
- 15:19Now I'm going to ask you to be
- 15:20aware of your heart.
- 15:21Don't change it.
- 15:22Become aware of your heart.
- 15:23Now you might say, John, I can't.
- 15:25You can.
- 15:25So you just become quiet.
- 15:27And if you still can't become aware of
- 15:29it, take your left or right hand, dominant
- 15:31hand, and put it over your heart.
- 15:33And as you do that, you can become
- 15:37aware, not trying to change it, of the
- 15:41heartbeat that you have.
- 15:45And just becoming aware of that will get
- 15:48us to become even more calm.
- 15:51So when we focus on something, we're aware
- 15:54of it.
- 15:55Maybe there is a fish aquarium.
- 15:57I love fish.
- 15:58And maybe you're looking at the fish aquarium.
- 16:00And I want you to be aware of
- 16:02the waterfall in the fish aquarium.
- 16:05Or perhaps the way the fish just swim
- 16:08so effortlessly through the pond or in the
- 16:10aquarium.
- 16:13How about being aware right now of the
- 16:18direction which light is coming into your home?
- 16:23Is it the north, the south, the east,
- 16:25the west?
- 16:26How about becoming aware, or your office I
- 16:30should say, how about becoming aware right now
- 16:33of how my words are hitting your eardrum
- 16:40and being converted electrically to an audible signal,
- 16:44auditory canal?
- 16:46How about becoming aware right now to how
- 16:53your feet, either in shoes or in your
- 16:56socks, how they feel, how the pressure, don't
- 16:59try to change it, how they feel touching
- 17:02the floor.
- 17:03Is it cold?
- 17:05Is it hard?
- 17:06Is it soft?
- 17:08How do you feel?
- 17:10Are you aware of that?
- 17:11How about becoming aware right now of the
- 17:19feeling of your lips touching the top and
- 17:22bottom?
- 17:23When I stop talking, I can feel it.
- 17:24How about becoming aware of your tongue?
- 17:30Maybe some of you salivated when I did
- 17:32that.
- 17:34Become aware right now of your nostrils.
- 17:40Become aware right now of your scalp.
- 17:45Become aware right now of any stress or
- 17:49tension in your body.
- 17:53And just allow that to dissipate at its
- 17:58own rate.
- 18:00How about becoming aware if you're wearing a
- 18:02ring or you're wearing a watch, how about
- 18:04becoming aware of that sensation?
- 18:10Is it tight?
- 18:11Is it loose?
- 18:13Is it just right?
- 18:13But when I tell you to become aware
- 18:14of it, you suddenly notice it.
- 18:16But when you don't notice it, it's like
- 18:19it doesn't bother you.
- 18:21But when you become aware of it, you
- 18:23kind of tune into its own world.
- 18:26How about becoming aware right now?
- 18:29Right now.
- 18:32Becoming aware right now of your posture.
- 18:35Is it straight up?
- 18:36Are you slouching?
- 18:38Are you sitting back in the chair comfortably?
- 18:40Are your feet flat on the floor?
- 18:43Are your hands on the desk, the chair?
- 18:48How about noticing your elbows?
- 18:52Are they in the air or are they
- 18:53sitting on the chair?
- 18:56If you have a beverage, become aware of
- 19:00the feeling of picking up the tumbler, the
- 19:04glass.
- 19:06Everything from the temperature, the texture of the
- 19:11glass or the tumbler.
- 19:14Now, become aware of its weight.
- 19:16When you lift it up, you'll notice it's
- 19:22not heavy, it's not light, but it has
- 19:23a weight to it, doesn't it?
- 19:25And that weight allows us to notice something.
- 19:31Now, take that bottle, again, if you're not
- 19:33driving or anything, and take it and just
- 19:35put it to your lips and drink some
- 19:37of it.
- 19:38You can feel the awareness in your lips
- 19:39and you can feel the awareness the second
- 19:42the water reaches your tongue.
- 19:45How about the awareness of how it reaches
- 19:47your tongue and how it goes to the
- 19:49back of your mouth?
- 19:50You can feel it on the top of
- 19:53your mouth and bottom.
- 19:55And as it goes down, you can feel
- 19:56it going down your throat.
- 19:59Becoming aware of things.
- 20:02So what we just did right there is
- 20:05a very simple progressive relaxation and entry to
- 20:08hypnosis.
- 20:09But you're getting aware.
- 20:11So a lot of times our body is
- 20:14getting so inundated from signals, billions of signals
- 20:18going through our heads all day.
- 20:19But we don't pay attention to all of
- 20:20them.
- 20:21So when we choose to be aware of
- 20:22something, the color of the light.
- 20:25Right now we have LED lights and there's
- 20:28a color to that light.
- 20:29I can also take here and I can
- 20:31change the light from this color all the
- 20:35way down to a warm color.
- 20:38I used it up at this color, studio
- 20:42light, because I want that white effect.
- 20:45But you can also bring it down.
- 20:46This light has the ability to bring it
- 20:47down.
- 20:47You can see the warmer tone that it
- 20:50brings.
- 20:51The whiter does do a better job for
- 20:55the camera.
- 20:57But becoming aware of all these things.
- 21:01Becoming aware right now of what are you
- 21:03hearing beside me.
- 21:06And just what we did.
- 21:09We got ourselves to tune in.
- 21:11We tuned into a certain channel.
- 21:14Just like you tune in on the TV
- 21:16or on your iPhone or any kind of
- 21:23radio or internet station, whatever you have.
- 21:26We tune into it.
- 21:28When we tune into something, we sort of
- 21:32block everything else out, don't we?
- 21:34We block everything else.
- 21:36So, ladies and gentlemen, this is how we
- 21:40move from fear to forward.
- 21:43Not louder.
- 21:45Not chaos.
- 21:48Just clearer.
- 21:50And when we can be clear, we get
- 21:53insights.
- 21:54We get messages.
- 21:57It's just having the intention and then paying
- 22:00attention to something.
- 22:03Attention is very powerful.
- 22:05It allows us to take where we are
- 22:08right now, which is in space, to focusing
- 22:11on something.
- 22:12You could put your attention right now.
- 22:15I have a — our school gave these
- 22:20caps.
- 22:21It's a lip balm.
- 22:24So I've got this lip balm here.
- 22:25You may not be able to see it
- 22:26if you're just hearing me.
- 22:28But it's a little thing of lip balm.
- 22:30And what I want you to notice right
- 22:34now is it's a very small lip balm.
- 22:37It's like maybe a little bigger than —
- 22:40I'd say maybe about just from my fingertip
- 22:43down to like just where the first crease
- 22:46of my finger is.
- 22:47Maybe a little bit further.
- 22:49And if you can picture this white little
- 22:52round barrel, the barrel is probably no bigger
- 22:55than the circumference of your pinky.
- 23:00And if you could picture right now and
- 23:03be aware of the top of this lip
- 23:07balm and possibly standing right on the top
- 23:12of it.
- 23:14Of course, you'd have to shrink yourself a
- 23:15size down.
- 23:16But you could become aware of that, couldn't
- 23:17you?
- 23:19You could become aware of taking steps on
- 23:21this lip balm.
- 23:22Now, if I took the cover off, which
- 23:23I'm just doing now, and there's a little
- 23:27thing here.
- 23:27I can actually just raise it and just
- 23:29take it and put it on my lips.
- 23:30And I do that, I can become aware
- 23:32of that, the sensation, the texture.
- 23:35Now, here's the thing.
- 23:37That's an interesting flavor.
- 23:39I can become aware of that before I
- 23:41do it.
- 23:42Now, next time I do it, I know
- 23:46what to expect.
- 23:48People become aware when they get a shot
- 23:50at a medical place, right?
- 23:53Maybe they become too aware of it.
- 23:57So when we want to, let's say, not
- 24:02sense something, we want to distract ourselves.
- 24:07Think about something peaceful, tranquil.
- 24:09When we put all our attention to something,
- 24:13we become very aware, hypersensitive in other words.
- 24:21And if you could think right now how
- 24:24it feels as you're sitting in your chair
- 24:27or your car.
- 24:29How does the chair feel on your butt,
- 24:32your backside?
- 24:32How does that feel?
- 24:34Does the pressure seem right?
- 24:36Does it seem hard?
- 24:37Is it soft?
- 24:37Is it annoying?
- 24:41Now that I've asked you to think about
- 24:43it, you're all thinking about it.
- 24:47But then it'll probably fade in a few
- 24:49moments.
- 24:49Like you probably stopped thinking about the sensation
- 24:52of your feet.
- 24:53But now that I brought it to your
- 24:54attention, you are.
- 24:56So we have the power and the choice.
- 25:00It's a very interesting lip balm.
- 25:02I'm tasting it.
- 25:03And it has like, I think it's a
- 25:07cherry, like a cherry something.
- 25:09They don't tell you on here.
- 25:13They do not tell you what the color.
- 25:15So what I usually do, because the thing
- 25:16is so small here with the writing.
- 25:19I mean, so you could take your iPhone,
- 25:21okay, and just take a picture of it.
- 25:27And then what I'll do is I will
- 25:30zoom in on it.
- 25:32And it just says acetate vitamin E.
- 25:36But you know what?
- 25:38Manufactured by Snuzz USA in West Jordan, Utah.
- 25:47But I don't really have any details on
- 25:50here about anything else other than how it's
- 25:54made and stuff like, you know, a company
- 25:55in Greece.
- 25:56But it doesn't tell me like the flavors
- 25:59in this, which is kind of interesting.
- 26:03So I want you to, starting today and
- 26:07beyond, become aware of things, whether it's people,
- 26:11whether it's things you touch, and things you
- 26:14want to bring closer into your life, become
- 26:17aware of them.
- 26:18I do a seminar on wealth, taking a
- 26:21dollar bill out, 10, a 20, or even
- 26:23larger.
- 26:25Become aware of the texture of that bill
- 26:27in your fingers.
- 26:30Right?
- 26:31Pretty cool.
- 26:32Ladies and gentlemen, this has been Inspirations for
- 26:36Your Life.
- 26:37This is the kickoff for the master topic
- 26:41for today, which is going to be going
- 26:44the entire week.
- 26:45And if you guys missed what the master
- 26:47topic is, I'm going to share it with
- 26:49you.
- 26:49From fear to forward, choosing light, clarity, and
- 26:52momentum.
- 26:54See, the world a lot of times is
- 26:55designed to make us feel fear.
- 26:57I'll tell you why.
- 26:59It's used as a tactic.
- 27:00It's not a good tactic in a nice
- 27:02way, but it gets people to take action.
- 27:06When people are fearful, which is what?
- 27:08False evidence appearing real, and it gets into
- 27:10our psyche.
- 27:10You're like, oh my gosh, I better do
- 27:11something.
- 27:12That's why a lot of these scammers get
- 27:14all the senior citizens, because they fear something.
- 27:17It hasn't happened yet, but they put the
- 27:18fear of you know what in them.
- 27:21That's important.
- 27:23So become aware.
- 27:25You could become aware right now of what
- 27:27it would feel like to hold a glass
- 27:28of orange juice.
- 27:30There's so many things you could become aware
- 27:32of.
- 27:32You could become aware of what it would
- 27:34be to be up on stage and get
- 27:36a standing ovation.
- 27:38So being aware is a choice.
- 27:40If it's something you don't want to feel
- 27:42or don't have, disassociate from that.
- 27:45Become aware of something else, something better.
