- 0:00Speaker 1: Coach after the victory here today, what's that instant analysis
- 0:04Speaker 1: of what we saw I guess specifically in the second half.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Well, you know, it's interesting, you know because obviously it's
- 0:12Speaker 2: an understatement to say we didn't play well on offense.
- 0:14Speaker 2: I mean, that's as bad as bad as we could
- 0:16Speaker 2: probably play in the first half. But you know, teams
- 0:20Speaker 2: that have resilience and have grit, they find a way
- 0:23Speaker 2: to get it done. And our defense just kept rising
- 0:25Speaker 2: up and rising up and rising up and rising up
- 0:28Speaker 2: and rising up. They gave up three points one hundred
- 0:30Speaker 2: and fifty four yards or one hundred and fifty eight.
- 0:31Speaker 2: That's pretty good until our offense could get squared away
- 0:34Speaker 2: and then you know, Durell takes it to the house.
- 0:37Speaker 2: And what was interesting about that play is that all
- 0:39Speaker 2: we can practice every time Durell broke a run in practice,
- 0:42Speaker 2: he took it all the way to the end zone,
- 0:43Speaker 2: all the way, and I showed him actually yesterday morning
- 0:46Speaker 2: in practice or in our meetings, I showed our team
- 0:49Speaker 2: Durrell finishing in the end zone on a play as
- 0:51Speaker 2: an example, and it happened to be in the exact
- 0:52Speaker 2: same corner, the exact same end zone, just on our
- 0:55Speaker 2: practice field. So Skyler's catch was big. But you know,
- 1:00Speaker 2: you're gonna come up against teams that are pretty good.
- 1:02Speaker 2: You're going to struggle at times. You got to find
- 1:04Speaker 2: a way to get out of a slump. And hopefully
- 1:06Speaker 2: we did that on offense in the second half because
- 1:08Speaker 2: we were not good in the first half.
- 1:09Speaker 1: And defensively, like you said, they carried the way. Is
- 1:13Speaker 1: this the best that you've seen the defense play in
- 1:16Speaker 1: a full game this season?
- 1:17Speaker 2: I would have to reserve that U till I watched
- 1:19Speaker 2: the film. And here's where I believe that. Yees. Statistically yes,
- 1:24Speaker 2: but you know, we look at things like effort and
- 1:26Speaker 2: technique and guys doing their job. So from a statistical standpoint,
- 1:30Speaker 2: of course, it was. But you know, we were pretty critical,
- 1:34Speaker 2: so we'll dive into it and see what it looked like.
- 1:37Speaker 1: But breaking up passes, I mean, was that in terms
- 1:39Speaker 1: of that aspect? Was that the best you've seen from
- 1:42Speaker 1: these guys.
- 1:44Speaker 2: That I can recall? Yeah, I mean just making plays
- 1:46Speaker 2: on the ball. I would have liked to have some interceptions,
- 1:49Speaker 2: you know, were we got to start taking the ball away.
- 1:52Speaker 2: I was afraid it was going to catch up with
- 1:54Speaker 2: us today. But we got out of here with a win.
- 1:56Speaker 1: So and in terms of the defensive line, those guys
- 1:59Speaker 1: were playing great. But del Montcordine he swatted four passes
- 2:03Speaker 1: on his own. I mean, yeah, what about His play
- 2:07Speaker 1: has been getting better and better over the season.
- 2:10Speaker 2: He's just he's committed to becoming a better player. He
- 2:13Speaker 2: seems more explosive than he's ever been. He has a
- 2:15Speaker 2: great understanding of this defense. This defense fits him perfectly.
- 2:19Speaker 2: You know, his skill set, he's disruptive. He's just really
- 2:23Speaker 2: matured this year into a really fine football player. You know,
- 2:25Speaker 2: he was kind of a pawn player in the you know,
- 2:27Speaker 2: the last couple of years, and it's probably my fault
- 2:30Speaker 2: for not using him the right way and match using
- 2:32Speaker 2: him the right way, and Kenny's coaching him up. But
- 2:34Speaker 2: it all comes down to dal just embracing his role
- 2:36Speaker 2: and you know, trying to get better every day and
- 2:40Speaker 2: being committed coach.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Thanks so much.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Thanks
